"Right. That's the trade that you're making. I got outta here tonight safely. And i get a paycheck. Go home in one piece but my time in this sport is now done. Nobody will ever come back to see a guy who has to snore for ten seconds over one punch from much smaller man and that man is wearing a pillow on his hand. I'm done. They're also then going to notice what you did that. Unlike any reaction you've ever had in your entire professional career. You did not just go down. You went out for ten seconds as soon as they said. Ten jumped up and everything was fine. But you're now done and people are gonna start picking apart and people are going to start looking at this unless you instantly change the topic. Which is what tito did so well. He goes right and calls out. Logan paul but he also lays out his reasoning. I lost in you loss. Let's bring two losers to the table now by policy that is generally sport works two guys that won their last fight fight each other two guys that lost their last fight each other. It's not a rule but it is generally the way it works. You would never advertise demoted. You're not promoting your coming out insane. I suck you suck. Let's bring our suck together and see if we can make somebody fine. I don't have a problem at tito. did it. and. I thought his timing was very smart. Change this topic. Change the topic as to how you against a much. Smaller man had the worst knockout of your career with one punch. Twenty one seconds in while he's got a sixteen ounce gloves and said you've got to change the topic the problem that tito ran into where you sit back and go wait a minute. What just happened is that it is functionally incorrect. Logan did not just lose his last fight. Logan's last fight was with floyd those to agreed. If it goes the distance logan wins. That was their agreement. But you can even set that aside and just go by what the commission and what. The official organizing body said which was that. It was a draw. You don't have a third option there. I believe logan. Logan floyd made that deal with the viewers supposed to recognize it out of sportsmanship. I do logan one. That's probably not going to hold up in court right. The event organizing committee really has the final say regardless of what these two worked out ahead of time and that was that it was a draw. That's not what tito said. He said it. Logan lost my goodness what happened here. What happened here. The timing of it great get off the dive. Get that whole thing. The whole acting the hold let it go but anderson doesn't know what's what so now anderson. He's got like some kind of dangerous power with that right hook. The whole thing is an absolute mess so the main event because you have to tie these two together. Just hold the thought of what i just loved with. Let's get into evanger versus detour. Going into this fight in. The timeline is extremely important. Don't think about what we know. Now don't think about how obvious what we know now. Is you have to back up to win. This fight gets announced. Evanger comes off as a two and a half to one favorite a favorite. It was a little bit surprising. Vetoed didn't flinch. See the fact that vitor was changing his body and his physiology to get ready to make a hundred and eighty five pounds and with the snap up. A fingers is now in open weight class. There's nothing he could have weighed in. That would have been heavy enough that they would have cancelled the fight. Pretty damn big change. He was a favorite time about vitor. Beat bela slight but favorite and now he goes to a two and a half to one dog against an opponent. he knows nothing about in terms of right. Now where's this guy who was a big risk by vittore. It really was a big risk now. One day before the way in two days before bell time open workout surfaces of evanger holyfield and it was a disaster. It was an absolute disaster. And you start to see. I don't know that this fight should happen. You start to see why. Andy foster in california said we're going to assess this person we don't have time to assess and therefore we're not going to hold the fight but you now start to see when andy foster was thinking and you start to see just how smart and how forward ahead of this thing andy foster was fight happens. Goes exactly as that training footage would lead you to believe which is advantages doesn't know where he is or what he's doing. There's a point in that fight where vander slips. And when he slips he falls as a matter of fact he falls through the ropes. Now this is the point of sad right. You have scary. You have combat you have. There is some scary things that can happen. We all know that going in. Now you're at the point of sad of what do we do now. We can see that one man who have wonderful memories of who fishy falls in the class of a senior citizen is about to be bludgeoned by another sharp prepared. Hungry younger athlete. what do we do. The referee stepped in and stopped it. Now there are. Fights are stopped via. Tko a guy is still standing. Connor versus floyd would be a fine example. I've seen that a number of times. It's rare. I have it a number of times. I have never seen a standing. Tko in boxing in round one in my life. I've never seen that absolutely the right call. Absolutely the right thing to do. And we're all done now. It's v towards moment for v tour to cut a promo the way that he did after that fight. You must understand. His frame of my veto still scared veto does not know what we now all saw. And see all the tornados. I gotta go fight a guy that the experts say i. I'm two and a half one unlikely to beat who. I grew up watching. Who looks like. He's carved out this visit veto standpoint so for or have a little bit of relief and to go promo i got it was authentic and it was real and v tor called paul. Now this was one of my favorite parts of the night because you have one liar who gets in the ring and says they have twenty five million dollars winner. Take all the put in this. He quickly gets trumped by his partner. Who's the bigger liar. Adds five million more lies to it and says we'll put up thirty million dollars winner-take-all so that was just a a piece of comedy but where this got interesting and where i am laying out with the true main of it was if anderson went after a paul brother and veto went after paul brother. You would think that you hit the have to veto. But i think many other people were sitting. There's something better here with anderson for whatever reason there's something better here now anderson helped v. tour tremendously because anderson. People wanna get anderson and veto together very low hanging fruit. I believe juno santos who was calling the action on the field that i had even said that pretty obvious that you could get those guys together. Anderson squashed it says. Forget it that part is done. It's me and v tour. We're going to take out the paul brothers. Now that is a story line works. Having anderson fight vitor fine. Whatever fine having anderson team.

"The Home Depot. All guests appear via the shell. Pennzoil Performance line. My Metcalf, Joe Foreign body I Met Jones protection is brought to you by Allstate get better protected with Allstate. You have never been in better hands. When I was a kid. There was nothing bigger. Joe Fort bother the Mike Tyson fight. You stopped everything you did, and you watched it. And for a while, those fights were even on ESPN. So you could watch it on regular television. And then you do the paper view and the thing when I was growing up, as you would say, Hey, How much would it take for you to get knocked out by Mike Tyson and Michael Spinks went for 91 seconds and we thought, well, would you do it for 91? Seconds? So there was a time that the world stopped to see my ties? Now tonight, Mike Tyson and elderly version is fighting Roy Jones Jr and elderly version with a paunch. And now the question is. Are you going to stop what you're doing tonight to watch the fight? Joe 100%. 100%. I'm insulted that you would even ask me that question. I will 100% be watching it. The question is, how much will I be betting on all of the options I have out there. The first thing you got to realize is that this is not going to be your traditional fight. It's only eight rounds first and foremost number two the rounds or two minutes in length instead of the customary three minutes in length. We're dealing with a couple of 50 year olds here. So you know they're going to scale it back a bit. And In addition, commissioner Andy Foster of the California State Athletic Commission has urged both fighters to not look for the knockout to not look for the knockout. They wanted to just show off their boxing seals. They do not want this to be an all out brawl. That is absurd. That is absolutely certain. Take Mike Tyson. Roy Jones. Say. Look, your professional fighters you're getting into the ring. You're gonna be fighting each other. Don't look for the knockout like that's ridiculous to me. But it's got an over under set of 7.5 rounds, Myron So, do you see this thing going going to the eighth round? Does it get to the eighth round? Does it go the distance? This is going to be in Mat versus Myron at the end of the show, but the over under is not the question. Let me tell you something about Mike Tyson. Mike Tyson's fists don't know It's an exhibition and nothing Mike Tyson has ever said in the build up to this fight suggests that he understands that this is an exhibition. Mike Tyson is talking about fighting beyond this. He's talking about relaunching his career. He's talking about this being sort of the start of something, not the end of it. So I do believe, And this is my crazy theory that I don't know if anybody gets knocked out necessarily. But I do think Mike Tyson's gonna bring it and I do think Roy Jones is the one who maybe thinks it's an exhibition. But I think Mike Matt wants to have a great showing. Put on a show and then I want think he wants to convince someone to put him in a real fight in 2021. I think we will see Mike Tyson fight next year in a real fight After this, I think we will, too, But I don't want to, because I like to laugh about this, but I don't want see old guys fight. I mean, I just think it's like, I don't think it's good for him. I think it's like a money grab and I just makes me it makes me queasy. They're just things that like I watch and I just don't like watching them. And when Evander Holyfield fought a few years ago, I was kind of like that. Like I just I don't really want to see it. But we will make our predictions on the fight in a little bit, But we have some breaking news that is historic. Sarah Fuller has kicked off for Vanderbilt to start second half against Missouri, the first woman to ever play in a power five conference college football game. She did a kick that was Sort about not squib kick but sort of a middle sized kick into the into the on the kickoff to start the second half. So it's it's this isn't historic moment. It's an odd sort of circumstances that led to it. With all the Vanderbilts kickers getting being on the covert list. They don't have a men's soccer team. She was already granted eligibility by the N C A, which allowed her to do it. Nevertheless, a very historic and neat moment. First off. Let me address that last point. I love it that the N c A A was kind enough to allow this to happen. Thank you. Old holy n c. A A for giving us your blessing of approval for this situation. It's awesome. I've seen it on Twitter. I don't have the game on in front of me. But I'm watching the replay of the squib kick over and over again. This is incredible to see something like this. I I would love to be able to give you a more robust s'more. Poignant evaluation, but I'm just kind of living in this moment right now, Thinking I've never seen anything like this before. Like we saw Kathy Ireland in necessary roughness with a female comes over from the soccer team in this fictional, goofy comedy movie and becomes the kicker. But now we're seeing it in real life. It's just Try to wrap my head around it right now. It just kind of an awesome thing to see Myron. You just celebrated. I mean, that's the only thing you could do that to see something like this. This historic moment in 2020 you highlighted you celebrate it. I can't imagine what it's like for sort of the next generation that See something like that and begins to think of what's possible. So I just think kudos. Kudos to her also to all the goofballs on Twitter, all those dudes out there, shut up and enjoy it because nobody cares what you think. So That's my other message to the folks. We're going to try to clown this. Yeah. Congratulations to her, and I agree totally with that last point. I don't know what it is about society. Now that takes in important moments or neat moments and says, I got to say this. I saw so many people, including a couple of announcers go well. What if she has to attack or what if she has to be shut up? No one cares about your what ifs and you're sort of work. This is a neat moment, and I think you hit it. When young women see this and say, You know what, whether it's football or anything else, I can do it. That is a positive that resonates far beyond a Vanderbilt Missouri football game and your little What if she has to get hit stuff? Needs to go out the window That is one of the big stories in college football. Ohio State is not playing is another will deal with it. Next on Game day on ESPN radio. Don't miss a minute of D Sanjay willing, Toobin. Just tell you smart speaker to play ESPN radio now playing ESPN radio. Check him out Monday morning, starting at six Eastern.

"So what time you want me over Saturday? I don't know. I don't know what time all of the true bounce begins. For our their pre limbs. Is there on there are yes, But before we get to that, in a free land should be introductions of ourselves. He's gamble. I'm finished as a bonus edition of the weekly reality check normally would have been found. Last night. Nine to midnight. We presume you're probably all rne all those asleep in a trip to fan it. Coma So anyway, normally, you'll find the second quarter of the Steelers Ravens game. I will. Couple of the cops thinking Shut up. I woke up thinking. Oh, my God. It's almost midnight. I got to go home. And it was quarter to seven won when I will quarter of seven PM Yeah, boy, That's so That's so Yes. Oh, my. My internal clock is all over the place. But happy. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Hope you're enjoying black Friday from the comfort of your own covert free environment. I hope you're prepared now that you did all those dastardly things you weren't supposed to do yesterday. Wait till you see the numbers. The aftermath aftermath. Oh, my God. What numbers? You're seeing that they have anything? You do with yesterday? None of one. I got news for you. I mean, I know most of the people I know who did something for Thanksgiving. Did nothing. I mean, they actually did. What? Everyone was, But they said flights on air traffic and travel second highest day since all this happened, you know it's not going to, but I would tell you we were talking about this during the break. I think it is her immunity now, if the CDC says At eight times the probably the number of positive cases or eight times what's actually being reported, Then my take would be so then the deaths are actually percentage wise, much lower. And I would even question some of those deaths being credited to covert. I'm not trying to make light of this, potentially, but you know what I'm saying. We've heard the stories about how Fred had this died, They said. It was Cove it so I mean again. It's going to take. You know, I talked to some of the medical profession and I asked him. I saw you surprised what's going on. They said No. It's natural courses. What happened? What's what's the cyclical nature of a virus both and literal terms? You imagine figurative going Wait till the Kentucky governor Scorns all of us in the bluegrass state. About what if I have to listen to being chided one more? I don't need that. Be an adult. Oh, my God. You shut up. All right. Well, let's get back to work. Yes, I'm sorry. Because Saturday Saturday night's all right for fighting and I'll give you 20. 1925 or half of the $50 pay per view feed to see what is going to be a pugilistic bonanza. What is the purpose of this? I can tell you my money between Mike Tyson? Yes. 50 54 okay. Roy Jones Jr. Who was a A spry 51 much lighter. He was the guy who was years of pound for pound was supposed to be the best fighter on the planet. Yes, well, this takes place with Staples Center. Okay, this weekend. It's one of these celebrity kind of they're saying it's not a real fight fight in the guy from trailer who was the social media platform behind his gun? No, it's going to be a real fight fight, and this goes back to Tonya Harding was a bag of like 2003. She got in the ring with Paula Jones. Remember one idea. One of Clinton's well right. Yeah, and they got into it. But then she briefly became a professional boxer. If I'm not mistaken, Not too not too much. Celebratory well, because I don't think it's a female professional boxers nowhere to go. No, but this thing this thing Saturday. I mean, and this and the rules of this is just absurd. It's It's just gonna be a handful of two minute rounds. Apparently, there is an undercard. It features a lineup that includes, I don't know if you know who this tool boxes Jake Paul. He's a YouTube star. My daughter is who he is family. And if I do punch me, 20 Look, we have a YouTube channel Gamble Capital and Finn. We would like you to go subscribe. It doesn't cost anything. We're up to almost 200 people. This dish has 20.2 million subscribers on YouTube. Who is and I wouldn't it? I don't even know. I don't know. Everything has a Disney kid or his father was a Disney, Jed. So he's fighting. He's fighting Robinson of the former New York Knicks play. I recognize the name names, so that's going to get his ass kicked. You wouldn't think one can hope Since the fight. I love this since the fire was announced, Andy Foster, the executive director, and I'm getting this from Bloomberg dot com. Director of the California State Athletic Commission, which is sanctioning about has been adamant that there will be no judges, no cumulative score and no winner will someone. Why would you watch this women eight rounds two minutes per correct and if it's if someone has cut the fight, maybe called they haven't defined the severity of the cut right. There's a quote unquote bad cut without offering further clarity, he said. About will be stopped. Okay, so let's let's let's work through this. All right. Let's rule play here for a minute. Let's say I'm Mike Tyson and I'd look awesome with that facial tattoo would you really want And you're Roy Jones? Junior? Wouldn't we get together and go? Look, man? Dance around a little bit, thrown occasional jab. Right? Let's not Why would you bludgeon each other? We're going to make bank It's not gonna happen anyway, because the same guy says quote. People shouldn't be getting knocked out. Referee Ray Corona won't let people get hurt. He understands what an exhibition is. It's not a fight fight, and then this guy from thriller This cab, Cavanaugh says. Oh, no. The main event is going to be Ah, Fight fight, So it's not gonna go fight boxing, the whether you like boxing or not. The purpose of boxing is to knock out your opponent right or win a decision. Otherwise you would not box. There's no point I'm from I'm from the home town of Mohammed Ali. I've never understood boxing. I really have mean. I know it's the sweet science and get sugar Ray and different guys and Bob, but I've never understood getting into a square and just Eating each other in the head. I don't think but see boxing to me. Boxing takes strategy. It takes agility. It takes strength It takes you have to be in. Yeah, yeah, Stamina. See, I think, but the school is to punch people in the face if you knock them out, But the other goal is it is to not be punched in the face. So in theory, you're kind of war. That's the goal of getting out of bed every day, not get punched in the fall. That's but you know what Look, I guess here's what I don't know. I've never under the word that you could take out of this for me is exhibition. I've never understood in any way, shape or form now. It's one of those kind of like schlock Gulf events. Yeah, you don't want any, where there's light pro. I was Tiger versus Phil or whatever, and they had their celebrity. Okay, That's a little more humorous. But those are also not I guess one of those was pay per view, wouldn't it?.

"Make weight. So it was, like, you know, this is a guy at 35 trending toward 40. And this is a guy at 35 who really should have been at 26, you know, So there was like the size disadvantage really showed itself in my opinion, Tom early in that fight? Yeah. I wanted to ask you something real quick and I'll get a run. But it was an HBO special. Ah, real sports on these fighters cutting weight, and I had no idea What these guys guys and girls go through to cut weight. How kidney failure possibility. Death possibility. I mean, it is absurd to think. That this is what they have to go through it. I'm thinking how How could this not be something the UFC is concerned with. And Dana White has every one come in. You work out, do whatever you have to do make away you're comfortable at and then that's what you fight at. Or if you want to make await you, Khun Go no more than £7 over that weight when you fight because it's ridiculous that you see boxers. Sometimes they'll make weight put on like 15 £18 before they fight. It's like, well, that's not the way you should be fighting it. That's dangerous to the other man or woman. They're fighting because now you're a much bigger person. How can I help? They not figured this out yet. I mean, it's insane to think these fighters have to go through this to make a few extra box and fight it that way. And then it becomes dangerous. If you put on more weight and you knock a guy out a girl out. Yeah, I mean, wake leading has been, you know, I mean, I covered seven fighter death in boxing at ringside, And I would say Five of those seven were directly recall related away cutting just horrible. Now, the UFC built that performance Institute that you know many millions of dollars. Just for this very reason. You know, the two reasons they build it were help fighters cutting weight and help fighters recover from it, recover and prevent injuries. But I think you know that more needs to be done on the regulatory side. California is doing a fantastic job and I'll shout out any foster of the California Athletic Commission. You know, they have rules about weights, and they they'll tell people you know what? We're not going to allow you to fight it. This wait anymore because you don't look like to us like you can make it safely and that actually working Before the pandemic was working to their detriment because there were fighting what has gone to California they didn't because they knew, Okay. Andy Foster won't let him fight it The way we wanna have a fight that they also have second day weigh ins and you can't go up more than those way So California is leading the way. I think you need to Seymour regulatory action along those lines, Tom to prevent some of this stuff from happening, but I agree with everything you said. It's a real dangerous and it's a farce. When you see some of it happened, absurd. I got one on Tyson Fury I saw this weekend. He said that he's going to fight in London first week in December and the opponent is unknown. Who'd you speculate? Is going to be that opponent. And ultimately, when we get the the all UK battle Royal between two guys in their early thirties, fury and Joshua were going to see a couple of those fights coming up. How do you see that match up? Well, I think you know, I think fury is the better fighter. I think you know, Anthony Joshua to me was exposed. Not in the lost and the Ruiz. But in the fight that he wants, you know, I mean, he was tended. He didn't show you. No pay Fockers get knocked out. That happens all the time. You know, no big deal. You know that. You know, fighters can't come on. Should be able to overcome that. I didn't think Andy. Look. Excuse me. Anthony look very good in that by the second fight with any Ruiz and I think it basically tells me, you know, furious is just going to pick him apart. Furious the way better box or had periods, you know, confident on top of this game. I think that happened. You know, I'm John. I knew who the opponent was going to be on drawn a blank on who is now but nobody of any significance. It's going to be ah, very lesser opponent just because he wants to fight at home. Hey, would have taken the fight with wild or when they couldn't work it out. So you let me fight at home, and it's It's a secondary opponent. Not not that great. Kevin, You're reporting your insight top notch. We always appreciate your time. Thank you for it Be. Well, we'll talk to you soon. I appreciate you guys be well. Have a good man. Kevin. I will do that could also hit me up on Twitter. Still at Jim Rome, looking for you to follow me on Instagram. At Jim Rome. I'm trying not to go here. Because yesterday was a day that I've been dreading for a very long time. And it's a day that I started to talk about back in May. Because I knew that this was ultimately going to happen. I was back in May that I first mentioned the viral videos of Mike Tyson and Mike Tyson doing things like this. Now I have to say that looked every bit as good as that sounded, and that's not a pretty awesome and I knew the moment that video dropped. I knew exactly what was going to follow. And as I said at that time, man, I'm begging, not asking, begging All of you Do not take that clip and start getting all hyped up for a possible Mike Tyson return. I did not want the momentum starting for that. I get it. We all love nostalgia. We all want to turn back time and see the very best in their primes all over again. Mike did look pretty good. But as good as Mike looked getting into the ring again felt like a terrible idea. And yet I knew it was coming. He wanted to be was hoping it was nothing more than some marketing ploy. Not a marketing ploy for him fighting for something. It's for a product for a lifestyle. Or even Krahn. Even his farm. But I knew what it was. So I said at the time, I was not going to be the guy to tell Mike It was a terrible idea, because whatever issues Mike and I may have had our patched up right now, and I do not want Mike to come looking for me. I'm saying that for the record, I'm looking right into the camera. I'm saying it right into the microphone. I do not want Mike Tyson. You come looking for me? But apparently nobody else told him because yesterday the news came out via Kevin. I only Mike Tyson is going to step into the ring yet again. And with each passing moment and each passing detail, the news gets more and more bizarre. Mike Tyson getting into the ring at age 54. Yeah. All right, I guess. Mike Tyson getting into the ring at 50 for two face Roy Jones Jr. Huh? Mike Tyson and Roy Jones junior sharing the same boxing card. With X N B A. R Nate Robinson and some YouTube dude. What And the fight being streamed on a music video app. Seriously, but apparently it's all true. Apparently Mike Tyson and Roy Jones junior are going to fight on the same card is a former MBA player and a YouTube guy in Carson, California. On September 12 a dignity Health sports park. On that day. That joint better just be called the Health Sports Park because dignity will be nowhere to be found. There is no dignity to be found. In any of this. Don't get me wrong. There was a time when I would have thrown down enormous money to see a Mike Tyson Roy Jones Junior fight. That time was roughly 30 years ago. These guys were two of the past. You'll ever see Mike with that insane punching power, quickness, lateral movement, ferocity. Jones with his jaw dropping, dropping hand speed, Amazing footwork. Best defensive fighter I've ever seen. But now The idea of them fighting and sharing a card with a former and be air and a youtuber mash is sad and depressing. No, I guess kind of maybe dangerous. Maybe, like the last time Mike fought a real fight, he was beaten by some dude named Kevin McBride. And that was 15 years ago. Roy hasn't been Roy for a long, long time. In fact, Roy who was not only unbeatable for awhile, but literally untouchable, like you could go on entire 15 rounds with Roy Jones, not even hitting him. He's been on the wrong end of some hideous losses. So what do you call it? Boxing card, which includes a couple of former champs in their fifties Ah, former MBA player and a YouTube star during a global pandemic, and it's being streamed on a music video app. What do you call that? I hate to say it. General. I hate to say it. But if it was anybody other than Mike involved, everyone just called a freak show. It's not a real event, and apparently that's a fact. Andy Foster, the executive director of the California staff out of commission, told Kevin I always much Tyson and Jones are going to use larger than normal gloves. Quote. This isn't a situation where they're going out there trying to take each other's heads off, but just going to be in there, moving around the ring and letting fans see these legends and quote See these legends See them. Do what Dance around the ring play Patty Cake. That's fine. If you just want to show the fans, couple of legends dancing around the ring, not trying to hit each other. That's great. Why you charging money for it? But if they want to do that, they can just do that for free. Or they could do it at home. But there's no reason for everybody to come together in one spot in order to do this, But I'm not sure what's worse to former champs in their fifties, getting into the ring to fight or to former champs in their fifties, getting into the ring to not fight. Tie for last None of this is good. It all sad and it's all depressing. And according tto aioli. Is the thing that really makes no sense. Mike's not doing it for the money. Mike stands to make.

"On in boxing, and now a man who I wish was called the Boston leader. It's sort of like getting punched in the face Chris. Welcome back to another episode of the SL boxing podcast on this episode. We've got my copy senior boxing writer over at the Atlantic locked on in boxing this week. You've got showtime announcing it summer and fall slate camello Alvarez the hunt for an opponent in September is still on, plus Virgil Ortiz the best prospect in boxing. He is back in the ring on Friday on zone again to all that more with my conjure little bit later on, Stephen Espinoza President Showtime Sports Steven Talks about the summer and fall schedule. How put together talks me about the safety? Protocols are going to be in place to prevent some of these fights falling apart and just how is the relationship between Showtime Fox and How does that all work? I get into all that with Stephen Espinoza op before we get to that. Though one topic I didn't cover with, either was the news on Thursday that Mike Tyson the former heavyweight champion is GonNa Face Roy Jones in an exhibition match. In September. Allegedly in September now this fight was formally announced. It's going to air on paper view and on a streaming service called trailer. Color me skeptical that the fight actually happens. There's a lot of money that needs to go into a pot for Tyson and Roy Jones to face each other, plus they've got an undercard. That's going to include Jake Paul. The youtuber and Nate Robinson the NBA guard. I'm just not sure where all this money's coming from now there have been rumors about Tyson versus Roy Jones for a couple of weeks now maybe more. And they were looking for partners for all this. I was told that. Mike Tyson look in Saudi Arabia for some Middle Eastern money to try to make a fight like this happened. That didn't come to fruition so now. We're being told that they're going to fight on September twelfth Intel -fornia. In an empty stadium. I don't really understand how all that works now. I think there's probably a market for Tyson versus Jones me. It's going to be an eight route exhibition match they're going to be using twelve ounce gloves, probably not going to wear headgear. Can I only my colleague over at Yahoo or former colleague over Yahoo, he mentioned that Andy Foster. WHO's the head of the California Staff Commission has said that these guys promised not to go after each other like they're in their prime, but then I thought Tyson on TV this week. Saying he's going to be Mike Tyson is GONNA is only one speed for Mike Tyson so I'm not sure how all that's GonNa work, but more than anything I'm just not sure how the money works. I mean Tyson. Even though he's committed to giving the money from this to charity commands a big dollar road. Jones fought for a long time for money at the back end of his career. Getting knocked out by. Guys that were not even as League back with Roy was in his prime in far flung locations for money, so I had some money know that Nate Robinson Jake Paul aren't doing this for free so. I just WanNa where all the money is going to become. where I'm told from what I'm told, there is not a network attached to. This is going to be independent paper. It's obviously I was going to stream on that music streaming service, so I just don't know how it all comes together, but if it does. Whatever doesn't do a heck of a lot for me? Is is fifty four. Roy Jones is fifty one. Like neither one of them as anything they're fighting four of and a paycheck at this points. It's not like if one of them wins are going to challenge Tyson, fury or Anthony Joshua for the heavyweight championship. I think for Roy. Jones, there's pretty clear inherent danger there I mean. Tyson is still a beast. I mean he's still got power. That doesn't go in heavyweight fighters. Mean George Foreman was in his mid forties when he knocked out. Michael Moore in a real fight to win. A real heavyweight championship Tyson still has that pop, but if you're Roy Jones and your reflexes, a fifty one are slow which they are. I don't know you put yourself in a tough position there if you're Roy to get knocked out pretty badly. By Mike Tyson, but they'll be a market for it I mean. People still need the Tyson has great name recognition, so doesn't Roy Jones. In fact, the fact is a market for it for a fight like this and. Perhaps Oscar de la Hoya coming back at forty seven. It's more of an indictment on boxing, isn't it? But, boxing can't produce enough stars to make something like this so goofy that nobody would consider paying for it. That's on boxing. That's on the fighters. That's on the networks on the promoters build up stars. Make new make new stars you know. Make it fights like this won't draw crowd or draw big pay per view number, but. It's apparently. GonNa Happen September twelfth on pay per view. If you WANNA watch it, go forward. I think we're GONNA. Be Talking to Roy Jones in the coming weeks on this show, so we'll get his perspective on that. And maybe we'll talk to Mike Tyson before the fight actually happens, but you knew is it was looking for an exhibition about this is apparently what he settled on I would've loved to have seen this fight back in two.

Jack Reese and for those who don't know those listening here on boxing illustrated on radio. Jack Ries happens to be the referee who is in the ring for the first Tyson. Fury deontay wilder fight. It was a fight. That wound up a draw. A lot of people thought that Tyson fury should have been given the decision. I actually had the Anti Wilder winning on the strength of two knockdowns. But it was that twelth round knockdown about midway through the round a booming left. Hook right hand. Put the 6-foot-9 fury down his back. You were the referee there. At five seconds fury look out of it is closed. He gone and then we'll Jack you pick it up from there. You know ready in life you live for moments. You have those moments memories with the children and the wife and the family and friends as well as working relationships. It's the same thing in boxing. You live for the moment and this turns out to be a great moment. Something I'll never forget a moot twelve round. It wasn't it was a very spirited fight and when he got dropped in the twelfth round have right less combination he felt like a brick and I was about I was about six feet away from them in my position. Moving around when that combination landed in Tyson fell away from me so I was six feet from his feet so I was about twelve feet thirteen feet from his face and I couldn't see his face and he went down real hard. But I've always been taught to give a champion Accounta- champion out. Give a champion every changing get and I didn't quite know what I had at the time out. I was the way he went down. I thought he might be out. When I signalled down pointed the did he go to neutral corner and quickly picked up the council the keeper and Spun Back and instinctually. I noticed that his right leg was up. He was resting on his right foot so he couldn't have been unconscious because he was unconscious that Labor would have been flopped down. I also noticed the slightest movement and his hands so before waving it off. I said let's see what we got and as I started getting closer I was counting in my head to three and what I got to three. See his eyes and he started tracking me. What is is is. We're actually open. He wasn't out so I got down in my first audible. Count was four and five pop. Those eyes wide open rolled over and as I was saying the word nine. He raised his fist off the ground. No part of his body of it in the soles of his feet touching a canvas so in essence he was up so I gave him what we colder referee sobriety test because that was a thunder is not down. I wanted to make sure he was able to intelligently defend themselves. 'cause I knew the wilder was coming in for the kill especially with that bomb squad type bunches so I wanted to make sure that fury can defend himself and he demonstrated to me and everybody else. He was in full control of his body and I said box and he got up. Not only did he box. He actually came back to rock deontay wilder later in the round. We're talking to referee Jack. Let's say there are different ways that people could still cheek but you sign you sign up. You've got blood possible. It's tested on a template from that first test. And that's the only way listen in twenty thirty years time when you and I in joying great-grandchildren dough grandchildren, they will have so many sophisticated ways of testing who knows hundred years, fight sports might be completely banned. He really you know, listen, he's working for the, so he's always gonna pointed at him. The fact that he that could be a bias that he's not gonna bite the hand that feeds him. So he is in a difficult position in that sense. He was highly criticized over the John Jones situation, but you know what is fascinating? The story that he managed to Lorenzo's jet, and take Jonet Christmas to test in California, the same labs that you saw to vodka all these. They use the same scientists the same labs. So, you know, you can always those Lorenzo's jet the other use Lorenzo's yet to because Andy foster of California, when they switched the event from Nevada to California within weaken half, and I felt sorry for the fans, thanks tickets belts without the when they. Shifted the Jones Gustafson headliner from Nevada to California. They had to, I think it was the twenty four twenty four twenty six of it was certainly Boxing Day or what we call box in twenty six or something that they had to get the test on those alab open in Los Angeles. I think it was. But they took Lorenzo's jet. They picked John Albuquerque. I think Novitsky jumped in Lorenzo's Jack's dos. Dana what he could do. They and they talked about possibility of using Lorenzo's jet Novitsky jumped in a jet went to Elba Turkey in the jet. Picked up picked up John Jones, they flew to LA. They took the blood sample. They left it with the lab. They flew Jones back to Albuquerque back to Vegas. And on the same old, same day. Individually told me by the time he got back to survey goose. They had the tests. The he was fine to go the result. Yeah amazing. It is amazing. But it makes me wonder why sometimes you have situations where the test results, come out after the fight right? If they can get it that quickly. And also aren't the tests supposed to be anonymous. Anonymous? They know they know who their oh, we have to get this rushed. It's John Jones tests. No one being a cynic here. But the thing is you're right. No. The someone someone takes the, the blood. Yeah. Then it goes into the lab, the lab, scientists had get so fast labeled numbers. They're not. They're not using someone on it straight away. They open the lab for them. No one, no one asks. Why are we doing this on Christmas Eve?.

"If if an only if we are tempting to determine was there, a re ingestion was there an intent microdosing in these different terms. You guys have if the answer is no that shouldn't just be a no for one test or two tests or three it should be a no for four and five and six and seven witches. Then what the commission set itself up for is. They said, okay, we see this is a continuing problem with this applicants body for whatever reason our experts are saying though, they don't believe there is Rian gestion and more importantly at least two chairman Marinelli. There is no benefit from this. If that is true then between now and John Jones is titled defense against Anthony Smith, if there is another test, we don't need to revoke his license. We don't need to discipline them or punish. As long as our experts can reasonably conclude that there was not Rian gestion. There was not a new attempt, and there is not a level of the banned substance high enough to reasonably king clued that it would give an enhancement guys. I'm sure I lost you five different times in my recap of the hearing. But take it from me. They got it. Right as confusing as that was they got it. Right. Andy foster got it writing California. Bob Bennett got it right into Vada in ultimately, the commission who oversees Bob Bennett came in. And they said something, and they got it. Right. But it's important to know the hierarchy for Bob Bennett to not just blindly sign off on that is appropriate. He should not have blindly signed off on that. For Andy foster to give the license not having the information that Bob Bennett had was not an appropriate. It. Was the correct thing to do ever the commission to look at it and say, we do have all the information, plus a nether flagged test. However, we still believe no matter how many of these tests you want to bring us, and you could bring us five and six and seven more because you are testing the hell out of John Jones through not only the commission not only through Sada, but then through vodka which California made as a precondition to licensing him for the fight with Upson with all of these tests, and all of his data that we have if we can clued one time or five times that he did not Rian jest, and therefore we should expect the same result coming in. We have to give credence and lenience and understanding to that and the right to do. So and many times people will try to use the number of tests in this case three will he had three failed tests, the commission was very responsible and mature to go. Yeah, we understand that. And that could turn into four. Four five and six if we're doing the same tests on the same person and getting the same result in terms of the picograms with any certain range that don't reach nanogram and don't appear to be evidence of Rian gestion that it really does not matter. How many of these tests that we have if they're saying the same thing on the same person we can come to the same conclusion, which is whether it's one test to test three tests or multiple more tests within the same range for the same substance on the same applicant being done at the same lab than we need to say come to the same conclusion, which is he did not Rian jest. And that's what we want to know has he already paid a price in his at leaving his system or trapped in cells or tissues organ. Okay. Great. So they did come to the correct conclusion. They really did. You're listening to your.

"Sometimes because it tests are more advanced. This is why they're arguing that other athletes have not seen this or say, well, listen, we have new test. These tests are better. These tests are more advance sometimes test grabs it, and sometimes it doesn't we can't fully explain that. But this is still our conclusion. Okay. As the thought of body who was brought in we need to expect that conclusion, but we still have to use that evidence and making today's judgment. No one. Of the other things that came up by chairman Marinelli. And he said, look this could be a problem for us in the future. If a first time offender comes before us, we are not going to license them. In fact, we're going to do the opposite. We're going to revoke their licence find them in suspend them. If it's their first time. But like we already did with John on their second time we need to be able to understand and take into account that they are not continually doing a bad action or an intentional action. Their body is just processing while they're still under our jurisdiction, and we're seeing results of the initial action to that make sense because I said that perfectly, but did that make sense? Because guys as weird as my dialogue is for you guys today. This is what the entire five hour hearing was it was very complicated and very unchartered waters. Where you go. Okay. I'm a logical intellectual high learner, but you are discussing a language I've never heard before. So ultimately, I'm going to do my best to understand. And then I'm going to defer to the experts I'm gonna trust the credibility of the experts, and I'm just gonna have to go with them. And that's what the commissioners did. And I think that was appropriate. But they did say we do not want to set a precedent here because we are very worried that somebody else will come in. And try to make the argument that I took something prior to going into the pool. Therefore, I'm not subject to the rules of the pool because I had taken the substance before I was in an orangutan's case, I took it while in the pool, but was already punished and double jeopardy should not apply which are great arguments. But we really were trying to determine today is a dirty fighter fight because up until today. The rules have always been very clear that we may not punish you. We may not even believe you intended to do this. But we will also. Not license you. So today, they decided they were going to license. No. We're this became relevant. Bob Bennett had weighed in he's not a Commissioner, but he is the executive director, and he was questioned Assad and very strongly. He was very firm, and he was very tough. And he was speaking up for Andy foster, the Commissioner and executive director rather of the state of California who did license John to fight Alexander gusts of Sen. who came out after the fact and said, I was never privy to the fact that he had two failed Sada tests, regardless of the reason or what dialogue or Rian gestion or Rian tent. I was simply not made aware, and I think that was underhanded. So Bob Bennett spoke up for him now where this shines. Bob's own wheels. Is Bob kicked the fight. He kicked it out of Nevada based on the evidence. He had in California picked it up. So that created a dialogue of. How could California understand something on a deeper level than Nevada with Bob's argument that he was trying to make without saying it perfectly clearly is they didn't they did not come to a different conclusion than me? They were not given the same evidence as I was given. So that becomes very relevant in this regard. If Andy foster is saying he would not have licensed, John knowing that he had the two failed tests and Bob Bennett is then trying to use that as a reference point for himself. The only thing we have different between those two failed deaths and today's license is a nother failed test which came through vodka. So now instead of having to fail tests to look at and decide to kick a guy's license. They now have three but decided to issue the license and guises we're is that sounds and as much as it may sound as though I'm painted a picture against John. No, just the opposite. I believe they got. Right right in spite of the two failed tests and now the third subsequent failed test..

A week after that, we've got Microsoft theater. Leo Santa Cruz is defending his bell, basically. And just a stay busy. You know, it's interesting Beto. I put this in the fight corner. There's a there's a strong possibility that the the world welterweight champion. Shawn porter fight for March night that was scheduled for T mobile arena in Vegas will also get moved to the war grounds. So we gotta keep an eye on that that definitely could happen. According to my sources week after that March sixteenth, you've got Mikey Garcia, aerospace and Dallas. That'd be Mikey's. I pay per view, Mikey moving up to divisions. Yes. Very bold move. And then lastly in at least what we have right now, April twelve at Staples Center of silly, low marchinko will be fighting. He'll be fighting the winner of a fight in in Dallas. Where to the expected winners this guy, Richard Komi? But you know, I was talking to Andy foster to head of the California State Athletic Commission last night. And he was telling me that fights in California get this out of in two thousand eighteen California had more professional boxing matches staged than New York. New Jersey, Texas and the Vada combined. What s and more and buying more? And you know, what that speaks to the passion in my in my opinion. Because most of these fights are taking place in California. It speaks to the passion of the southern California fight fans. And I that's something that I've said over and over again, a love it. It's worth it's worth exploring for these promoters. And they they know more more than ever that. Instead of looking at these other states where there may be some kind of like guaranteed fee, your you'd better look LA and the Southland because you're going to get a strong audience. And yes, while there, we you know, these fighters may be on the hook for some taxes and stuff like that the live gate money that they're receiving from these these events people show makes it worth it. They show especially in LA the fight corner. I just signed up right now. I put in my Email Durant's g mail. Subscribe, our boxing and MMA newsletter. Written by put Mark comes out every Tuesday. So we do know that there was some irregularity and we can't go forward without because we don't have certainty as what happened. So I took this case to California met with Andy foster he said, this is pretty cut and drive the Shaab. This got to be too. He said, you gotta give to belts to both these gentlemen, and they're gonna have to do a little out for the real champ chant. Well, how do they how do they battle that out? I'm not sure they can figure it out. I'm not in that business. This the longest question. Please sit down. Thank you for you to order, another bell. Yeah. We do. It depends. I must approve his name. He might just relinquish the belt. I dunno other words to make sure we got order relinquish that. We're their new shiny one. Have you seen Rogan's belt for a person heard? It was awesome Chila for.
