"And ELISA is social media doing enough to curb hate speech a new report card says it is not ABC News correspondent Andy field joins us in Andy Who gave these grades and what exactly are the grades based on Center in Los Angeles rabbi Abraham Cooper does this every year It's called the digital hate report and they pretty much scan everything They also work with organizations talking to Twitter and Facebook and Instagram and other places to give them ideas on how to crack down on things like anti gay and transsexual hatred anti semitism things of that nature and they say that pretty much everyone has improved a bit but not enough that most of these mainstream places like Twitter and Facebook are getting B minus grade not great not terrible But what they're saying is that they're doing a much better job cracking down on political hate speech Than they are about anti semitism and things that seep into all kinds of conversations with images we've seen just in the last year or so people comparing vaccine and mask mandates to the Holocaust and people wearing yellow stars of David that Jews were forced to wear to segregate them and then march them off to death camps Certainly that was a very different situation than requiring someone to get a vaccine or wear a mask But this organization says that it contributes quite a bit to the rise in anti semitism in this country So they say that social media is getting better at this but we obviously have a ways to go Have they made any recommendations as to how to accomplish that They've made a lot of recommendations Again the Simon recent call center said that if Twitter could crack down on political miss speech and misinformation including banning president Trump and others from their platform they could certainly do a better job of doing the same with people who are spreading anti semitism and other kinds of taste One of the interesting things about the report and this is something that probably older folks like me I don't pay much attention to is online gaming which is huge around the globe a millions of people do it every day in the center's report says that a lot of this hate is being spread through the communications in these games that hate groups are actually trying to enlist people to their cause By creating these games that have anti semitic tropes Holocaust action figures killed the Jews was one of the games that they had out there And they also have messages going back and forth saying hey you know this isn't just a game We come sign up with us and join our group and a lot of that is going on out there and this report says that a lot of it isn't being policed ABC News correspondent Andy field on the newsline gas prices continue to go up The second time now in three days the national average price for regular is up a penny to $4 and 14 cents per gallon the statewide average is below $4 a gallon in 22 states The highest statewide average in America is California's 5 68 per gallon Inflation continues to rise at levels we haven't seen in more than 40 years and food prices are a big part of those increases The cost of food is up by more than 8% compared to last year according to the government prices for Staples like meat chicken fish and eggs have seen even larger increases Consumer reports says there are lots of ways to spend less money when you do your food shopping First make a list because that ensures that you're not going to pick up extra things that you really don't need as impulse buys One way to save is to consider buying store brands instead of more well-known brands store brands are made specifically for your supermarket and usually carry the name or brand of your store Store brands we have found can cost as little as 25% less than the name brands And we have found a consumer report that the quality can be as good as or better that The name brands.

Israeli Ground Troops Carrying out Strikes Into Gaza Strip, IDF Says

"Five of hostilities between Israel and the Palestinians tonight. It has risen to a new level. That battle heating up is Israeli troops are now attacking on the ground in the Gaza Strip What appears to be a new counter attack by Israeli defense forces tonight, Israelis living along the border of that Mediterranean Sea coast Palestinian land told to leave their homes and go to safe locations in what appears to be a ground force of sold on Gaza by Israel. NBC's Matt Gutman. In Tel Aviv where Hamas is aimed a number of rocket attacks. Most of the people who we've spoken to you here frankly, they say, Okay, we've gotta attack Gaza got to put an end to Hamas. We've gotta retaliate. There's ah, smaller subject of the people with whom I've spoken to say, OK, way need peace. We need to come to terms with these people. This'll can't happen anymore. But that is really the unifying understanding here is that this seems to be an untenable way of living just that nobody can seem to claw their way out of it. The Conservative Political Action Conference happens every year but 2021 will be different

"In Orlando. It's called CPAC, the conservative political action Conference and with a closer look at this year's gathering, ABC News correspondent Andy Field Andy after losing the White House. What's the tone of the conference going to be this year? Well, the theme is called America On canceled. I think they probably got that from former President Trump, who was none too happy about being canceled by Twitter and Facebook and many other social media Basically, Silencing him on all those platforms after many of his tweets were considered, uh, inciting violence, and many of them in retrospect, appeared to have helped Spark the attack on the U. S. Capitol. So Republicans and certainly the Conservatives of this conservative political action conference are angry about this. They're saying that they're being silenced by liberal media. And they're going to speak out about it, which, ironically will be covered by many of the outlets that they considered to be liberal media. Well, it seems also and maybe on a grander scale. The big task for the Republicans is charting their future and and maybe unifying the party because it seems so at this point, so splintered. Well, it is. There was a survey that came out recently. That said 46% of Republicans would gladly join a new party headed by Donald Trump. In split off from the Republican Party. That's a significant number of Republicans who say they're more loyal to Donald Trump of the party. That's a concern for the rest of the party, and certainly Is going to go play into what this conservative political action conference is all about. This is usually the Super Bowl of folks trying to get attention to say, Hey, look at me. I want to run for president the next time around. Except the leader of that group appears to be the man who just was president and wants to get another shot at it. Let's talk more about the former commander in chief. I see that Donald Trump is on the guest list. What about that? And who else would we know who other famous names are on that list? Andy Well, former Secretary of state Mike Pompeo, who has also released We've heard rumblings that he might want to run for office. But would he do it against Donald Trump? We don't know Other people Tom Cotton Ted Cruz. Josh holy of Missouri. All of expressed some interest in the past or present and even future of trying to get the highest office in the land. So this is really kind of Ah, A tag team elbowing match to see who is going to get the most attention who makes the biggest splash here. And then what will former President Trump say? Well, he ignore what happened at the U. S. Capitol will Hey, talk about where he'd like to see the party will even say, Hey, I'm announcing I'm running again. That's all The mystery involved here, which is what former President Trump likes to do is a former TV host is He's the audience to make sure they tune in. Ted Cruz invited But after what happened

Whether they will continue to object to these electoral votes, knowing full well that there is no chance of this passing either. The House and Senate with majority Is up in the air. He had been treated unfairly, but we have to have peace and respect the police and go home. Certainly didn't condemn the violence. Didn't say anything about the person who was shot and has now died on Capitol Hill didn't say anything. What's interesting is that earlier in the day, he gave a speech talking about how Antifa was destroying US monuments and buildings. Today, his own supporters destroyed parts of US monuments and buildings, and the president said nothing. We're talking with ABC News, Washington correspondent Andy Field and Andy tell us about some of the impeachment talk or other potential legal action. Some are talking about to hold President Trump responsible, including the 25th amendment. That's the one that allows removal of the president from office. Well, the person who would have to be involved with that is the person who is standing up there, and we'll have to announce the certification of Joe Biden when this is all over, and that's Mike Pence. He and the Cabinet are the folks who have to get together and say The president's unfit for this job, and we will remove him from office. Mike Pence has shown no indication, nor is any of his Cabinet members of doing that. Since the beginning of his presidency. It's unlikely that we're going to see that happen now, but we don't know. You know, there were so many things that have never in U. S history happened before this day That happened today. We could be in for some surprises. And in terms of impeachment, yes, the house could indeed. Come into session tomorrow and once again impeach the president in short order and send it to the Senate. It's unlikely the Senate would do anything about it unless, of course. They see the two senators on I think they've confirmed or at least they projected that both Democrats are gonna win the race and In the Senate, which will give control Of the Senate to Democrats.
