Fresh update on "andy dalton" discussed on The Bill Simmons Podcast

"Podcast is forty years. Old has no recollection of ever having competent quarterback other than like the one and a half years of jay cutler is good save this field thing dalton for rogue we steps aside with a knee injury paves the way for fields their defenses look. Pretty good i think better than we expected They can run the ball or bet they they've our robinson i'm sure they'll design some stuff for fields feels the big game. You're going against cleveland. Who is out there to starting receivers now And basically just has speed guys left. I think it's going to be hard for them to move the ball They're gonna have to run a lot. The bears be ready for it and the lions bears plus seven. It just seems a tad high. Would he think. I think we all over estimated or inflated how good the browns defense was going to be before the season started. They're not that good cloudy. Hasn't been doing much their defensive backfield which they beefed up with all. These new safeties have not been great. And if tyrod. Taylor doesn't get hurt last week. I don't know if the texans don't beat them they were winning and tyrod went down in the mills came in and play valiantly. But you're not gonna the -sarily win that one To bear stuff all right so nagy. And i have facetime the over the last few years or i've done a zoom call with them whatever it is and he's down in his basement and it's a poker room and the walls of the entire room in the sounds like it's like karkoszka detective stuff our old play sheets of his so he hangs them up as decorations in his man cave so the entire man cave is covered in old play sheets. And i'm like what the hell is that. And he's like. Oh i love it. This one i remember every game. He's like. That was week three when i was with the eagles. And this what we did. And this is when was with kansas city. And this is when we did the the special play. The statue liberty. Play against the giants. He has all those plays. He's been building a playbook for justin fields. He hasn't unveiled it yet. I would assume there is three or four crazy outside the box. Not andy dalton plays that are gonna come out in this game and i think that might be the difference of having a little bit leg-up then just your standard rookie quarterback going out there babe in the woods type deal i i like the bears in this game. I do a lot. I think they're going to be fine and competitive and i know those players. They really like justin fields. They're not gonna let him falter if they can do anything about it. And who is baker's security blanket on third seven. Where's it going to used to be jarvis. Where's the gore is going to people's jones like people jones arena. Pass that that. Google that running back that the third the third string running back has excellent fenton to metric fenton skill guy spinning run last week. He was really good. I like that guy All right we're going to mark down. The bears chargers chiefs we mentioned charges pushed six and a half sharp said something interesting and his podcast was solely on the ringer gambling. Show which is an excellent show their bishops. I liked this so lack by the way you reference lot of. Follow me on twitter. He's very good is yet where did he come from. I was not aware of him into last couple years. I see like the analytics. He's not just promote your guys but like he's a good follow what's his story. We got the spotify eighteen months ago. went down to sweden. And we basically put this stuff on a notebook of like create a football guy for us so they use all the stuff they and they just. They've cg item is not a real person now. We he was from philly. he's really good and Is better incredible dishes via is. Espn made that same trip and got mean a kind of a couple of years earlier. You guys you got so lack. That's what we heard about the kind of thing like we have to do this. So sharp said on the pod since week nine two thousand twenty. The chiefs are one and eleven against spread One an eleven all right. So what are the reasons for that. The public loves the chiefs. The public loves patrick. Mahomes you feel good. When bet on the chiefs i really think this line should be chiefs by four or chiefs by foreign half. I think they're they bumped it by two points because everyone bets on the chiefs. This is i in my opinion. It must gave for the chargers. I love the six and a half i know you like the chiefs. Little more badges think you can run. You'll at least get in cheap touchdown zone. Even if the chiefs are up by eleven with two minutes left. I still charged. Get it so. We're marking that down. Here's the big dog bucks ramps I've switched my opinion on this okay. I'm here initially was like all the rams their home. This is great and then the line moves toward the box. That's weird now getting the rams at home with points. But i thought about their defense those first two games. just wasn't impressed. I thought it was going to be better now. Obviously lost their defensive coordinator. There chargers remorse. Zanu everybody likes. But i just didn't feel like they were getting stops either week scenario the bucks coming and ford asked him from the bucks man. Brady fuck knows that team now. aquino's it. They're not even running the ball that well but it just seems like anytime he wants to get seven to ten yards he can get it their defense people got bucks defense. What's going on there. Well week one cowboys. That's a top. Five offense yeah we to atlanta for whatever reason the falcons have always been able to move the ball on them and i think to be honest. I know that sounds so simplistic. I got bored. They were up and it was like all right and they woke up then they put him away. It never felt like that was a game. It was a three point game. It was almost like the buccaneers or like just like all right. Fine yes and then it was like okay. Turn it back on you know so. I feel like with the the reason. I leaned toward bucks minus one half analysis. Tuck freeze your coho sharman. Yeah you're flying. Coach co host euros. Gonna you know you liked the ramps. You're in other ams this year. In general i am too. I have multiple season on them. I think at this point of the season right now. i think the bucks are better by december..

Fresh update on "andy dalton" discussed on NFL Live

"Is preparing to make his first. Nfl start on sunday. With andy dalton sideline with a boom booze on his name. Nick foles will serve as the back of his justin fields gets ready to make that start. At cleveland against baker mayfield end. The browns highly anticipated store for justin fields. But he will be the guy. And as soon as andy dalton is healthy. The bear say he will be the quarterback for chicago moving forward big ben rothlisberger limited at practice again. Today do that peck injury. That caused him problems. He was injured early in the game. Didn't know exactly when he was hurt but he did take an awful lot of shots on sunday against the las vegas raiders. Defense obviously affected him dealing with that peck injury. Right now looks. They can deal to play. But he was limited again at practice today. As for derek carr who was suffered an ankle injury in that same game went under an mri monday. Jon gruden said adapt point. It was questionable for sunday's game against the miami dolphins. The tool is dolphins their cars been a full participant in practice the last couple of days so it looks like he should be ready to go on sunday. Despite the fact that his ankle may not be fully healthy and lamar jackson. We mentioned at the top of the show. Laura not at practice today mentioned yesterday. That is hip was sore from the flip but the ravens listed him on the injury report today with an illness. A stomach bug so it doesn't look related to the flip and it looks like the should be able to go on sunday for the baltimore. Ravens at good news. Hope seem back out there. Thanks adam for the latest there and back to what very well could be the game. We three with the chiefs and chargers since week two of last season patrick mahomes justin herber ranked first and third and pass yards with failing. Only tom brady over that span we to at last season was herbert's i grew start. Remember that when you just got thrown in there also happen to come against the chiefs by the way. Only one player has had more pass yards than herbert replaces. I seventeen career starts in. Nfl history and that would be patrick. Mahomes connected in a really good conversations. Making dance eight can be. What is the about justin. Her in the chargers offense in this one. Dan go back to last year. I mean if you guys remember throw this weekend against dallas to third and forever when it's absolute bombed whole shot keenan allen that here's should be the perfect example of what they should do because right now there to drop back on first and second down. They're not pushing the ball. Downfield enough on early downs and the arm. Strength of that throw makes me safe guys. You want this here. That bowls in absolute missile. But don't wait till third down the the simplest for me to describe it as this last year. On first and second down justin. Herbert threw the ball twenty yards or more forty-six times that was fifth in the nfl. He was top ten. Qbr top ten. In completion percentage touchdown reception ratio in that situation so far through three games. They done it twice. This year are three times. Excuse me through two games. They've done it three times. They're not throwing a ball downfield enough on early downs and take advantage of that big arm. Marcus see you there on early downs but also something came to mind when we were talking earlier about this team. They need to get the run game going when it's there when it's available and they need to figure out how to get some easy roles for just a herbert as well when you think about when you think about the game with them against dallas dallas solve the coverage and they knew we have a we have a that's advantageous zeke elliott and tony pollard. I think detroit is need to stop viewing that weight. Yes somebody namur with just a herber arm yes. They are devastating when they want to push the ball down the field. They have one on one match ups between mike williams and keenan that those guys are gonna win ninety percent of the time. But when you want when you want to be complete team you need to have that ability that option when teams aren't giving you what they're giving you now. Herbert is thrown three picks on the season. So it's trending in a bad direction with him. Turn into football over. And i think they need to start adding a little bit more of easiness of eased to his game and allow him to matriculate at times as opposed to look for the big play. Marcus she mentioned those three interceptions. I'll mention it real quick for all of us. Don't do it man. don't turn the ball over. Just don't do that and you'll be fine. The sophomore slump is coming if he continues that. Dan three picks in two games and do the math at the end of the year. What will it be if he continues down this way. But i don't think you will. I think he will continue to show that he's capable of doing some amazing things but a guy like this when you're young and you think you've got arm strength. You will try to pierce the ball in places that you shouldn't less money you wanted to throw it down fillmore and these guys are saying early downs but you agree with that early. Downs is fine. Get caught in situations on third down low sitting back their wings. When you're trying to you're trying to do too much but the arms so strong. I can fit it in this down this. You're not playing against oregon state corners. This is not one of those situations. And we have until young quarterbacks all the time say he's nfl you pay for them and they also adjust and so obviously defenses. Have had some time to see justin. Herbert on field. We got more coming your way on. Nfl you do not want to miss this next. Mike parsons and arnold schwarzenegger have something in common. We'll be right back. I kept that one to do it right and it was so bad. Will you be bought. You see will be back. He's terrible is cop. Martinez doing this things do own or rent your home share you and i bet it can be hard work you know. It's easy bundling policies with geico. Geico makes it easy to bundle your homeowner's or renter's insurance along with your auto policy. It's a good thing too because you already have so much to do around your home. Go to geico dot com. Get a quote and see how much you could save. It's geico easy. Visit geico dot com. Today that's geiko dot com. You gotta go crack coming this week on sunday. Nfl countdown for he faces. Patrick mahomes one on one with chargers quarterback justin herbert plus randy rings two weeks catches and got much kick off week. Three with countdown at ten. Am eastern on espn and monday night. Football features an early season nfc east battle between the eagles and the cowboys both teams one in one chance to take advantage and the division in september. Jalen hurts. think about cowboys working mike. A person who's lived up to his first round billing and then son. Here's parsons on hunting. Quarterbacks quarterback that's on the season is owned the hitless. I mean all of them harbor was just the guy had that we sam but hurt. He's on the hitless now to allegations. It'd be like the terminator out there. martha the defense if the legal defense like that. I don't want it. I won't that guy leaving my depict. I won't him tolkien. I want to go in after people and backing up. What he's saying that so far through this early season number eleven like everything we thought he would after the dallas cowboys draft man michael porn. It's been fun to watch especially for swag. How about those cowboys wide receivers. Though dan you noticed something that they did. That's gonna help them against the eagles you key takeaway. They're willing to put their face on people on the defense and that's the big thing that helped their run game goes to the next level all right so key. We're gonna look at cd lamb at the bottom of the screen right here. I want you to kind of teach everybody with perimeter. Run coming his way. What's the key important stuff. When he's got a block debt corner with the trailing defender first of all. He needs to know what ball's coming behind and keep his eyes on the defended. Don't turn around and look to see what the back is that. Push him as much as you can. And at some point stop the engagement. It'll be a touchdown okay. So beautiful job by cd out there. That outside leverage right in portsmouth defender the trail over the top mama next one because this is one. That was incredibly impressive to me. Because this is mark. Cooper everyone says one hundred million dollar okay now. This is darwin. James at the bottom of this screen. Right here with this Outside leverage on the angle and his job is to scrape. Down the line of scrimmage and chase down this run what's important.

Bears' Andy Dalton: Looking Over Shoulder at Justin Fields Worst Thing to Do

"It's all anyone has been talking about. Andy dalton the biz. Qb one starting. Sunday night against aaron donald and the ranch yesterday dalton addressed his mindset heading into this season with the rookie justin fields waiting in the wings. That's the worst thing you can do is look over your shoulder and so i think that's understanding that is is key about tuning out the stuff that you don't need to focus on and knowing where you need to put your time and effort and all that kind of stuff. I think that's just where i'm at and you don't worry about all the the all the stuff i wish you all could have heard that as he was talking. Bart scott was laughing aloud. "Thanks for jumping on the show today. Me on how you guys doing. Warren how are you doing great man. I'm getting ready to go out and have a nice big stake in Off this phone call love that. How do you cook and where are you going. That's what i want to know. I'm a medium guy and We have a great steakhouse up here in seattle called daniels daniels broiler. And that's one of my favorite places ago. So that's where i'm going tonight. Got been there. And you know what i like. My butterfly cut medium. Well just a little pink. Is that not bad. That's good to pink is good. That's what i like. I like the rib. I i'm not a big fillet guy. Like rib eye has little more flavor to it. Yes and juicy no doubt rob you wanna share anything else about your butterfly steak. My steak butterfly art. It's all good all right we got. We got some quarterback questions. Ask you go ahead for it. I just want to start with this war in because we just discussed it just to get your take. Andy dalton came out today and said i'm the guy in chicago You should root for justin fields. His time will come but right now. I'm the man now. Rob took offense to that and said he should never mentioned the other quarterback. What do you think. I think he should i think he said he wants to. He wants to fans root for both of them which they wish they should and they're going to both play a lot here in the preseason these next to ball games so You want the fans to be rooting for those guys and then somewhere along the line they're gonna make a decision on who's going to be the starter whether it's dalton or whether it's going to be feels and then he's going to be the guy but i understand he's thinking they when he came in and signed with them they told him he was a starter so right now he feels like it's his job to lose so that's why he said it's his time so it's up to him whether he loses the job or not to justin feels he's just gotta go out there and play well and you know he's on borrowed time on time but If he plays well it allows justin feels to get more time just to to watch and learn and and not have to be rushed into a situation. 'cause they out with the rams the first game which is a you know very good defense If andy dalton can somehow get them through the first few games where they're like three and one or two and two. I mean that's not a bad deal for their with the way their schedule is set up right now. How about the patriots bill. Belichick cazin announced. Who star is going to be. I just feel like cam. Newton has to be the starter. He's not he probably shouldn't be on the team at this point. Where were you on that. But if you're the patriots. Do they made a lot of moves. Warren in the off season a lot of people spent a lot of money..

Andy Dalton Declares It’s ‘My Time’ as Bears’ Justin Fields Hype Grows

"To Andy Dalton. So Andy Dalton did meet the media today. And when I saw this clip on Twitter, just the the words of it, I go. Is this actually something that Andy Dalton said. Not that it's crazy, but for him to say that it's his time. His time is now Andy Dalton's not Spring chicken anymore. Andy Dalton has been the year the league for a very long time, and I go let me wait to hear the audio to make sure that this is authentic and legit. And eventually the audio did surface about 20 minutes after I did read the words that were put out there and then they did get the audio and the video of all that stuff out there. So let's hear this is Andy Dalton from earlier today who says he's excited for Justin Fields. But this is my time. I know who I am. I know who I was created to be. I know. Um, we're my identity lies and so, um I want the fans behind me and this team and all that kind of stuff. Yes, I want them behind Justin. Absolutely. I do. Um But That's not my focus. I can't focus on all that right now. Um, like I said, before Justin's going to have his time and Justin is going to have a great career. But right now it's my time. And so my focus is on being the best player I can be for this team and do everything I came to help his team win. Now, Here's my question to Andy Dalton. There's something crazy with what he said there. But how long is it going to be your time?

"Bears head coach matt. What did he do man. Nagy insisted that. Andy dalton would be the bear starting quarterback for week one his quote. And i'll read it off for you. Andy dalton has our starter. Justin is our number two. And we're going to stick with this plan. You just got us. Trust the plan. Yeah you got to set. The budget magician strikes again. I got a bunch of cards right in the right the fi. You never know where they're gonna go. Man thanks matt wasn't there was something about going around saying it's fun to throw his very him. Say there's just there's no outcome to where where there's no area where yeah scenario. Fields is the starting quarterback. And look. I i get you told andy dalton some things when you coerced him to join your your team but as the head coach of an nfl fan. Did i hit you in. The i know no good you look like you've laze bleeding if you're the head coach of this team and you're not leaving at least a scenario where justice fields as your week one starter. You're being a bad coach. Yes there should be a scenario where you allow a player to beat out another player so the best one play

"And another team and their actions. That aren't making a whole lot of sense now. Are the chicago bears and head coach matt nagy because this week matt nagy came out and obviously he's in a win or else win or lose your job type of situation in chicago but nagy came out and essentially committed to andy dalton as a starting quarterback this week which is just bonkers especially when in the nfl draft. You traded a future first round. Pick to go up and take justin fields out of ohio state number eleven overall justin field as your future. Even if matt nagy and gm ryan pace. Aren't there certainly hoping that justin fields shows enough. This year this season not just to save their jobs but to position the bears to go back to the again and maybe win a playoff game and show that there can be some promise with this quarterback in that franchise and i think the justin fields has that ability. I think that when you watch him he can make all the throws. He's won a lot of games at ohio state. He's not your typical state quarterback he committed to penn state transferred to d- committed to penn state rather went to georgia faced a lot of adversity in georgia overcame at ohio state. One big games has all the arm strength. has all the accuracy can throw on. The run is mobile. And you're gonna put him on the bench holding a clipboard behind. Andy dalton

"Can we say the bears would have been better off keeping mitchell trubisky. Can we or candy. I'm going to say we can. And just in general with all the decisions that ryan place makes. They're probably all wrong. I would probably lean toward the other way just when you look at it on his face. Andy dalton is a lesser player mitchell. Trubisky we saw that with the qbr. The two guys last year. Don't have a bunch of weapons down in dallas still. Couldn't find a way to be able to get it done so that the bears earned were spot quarterback wise than they were. I would agree with you. What is confounding in every conceivable way and it is magnified by chicago. Bears social media yesterday on twitter. The bears posted that last night. Did Washington Do Enough to Push Dallas in the NFC?

"Did washington football teams teamers and the giants do enough to push dallas in the nfc. So i left philly out. I don't yeah. I just don't i am found anyone who really thinks they're going to be competitive. I mean let's wait and see got jalen whatever. But that's a team that they're not really fun to talk about. Because their free agency considered like stripping you know but i mean they did sign at harris for like nothing which is probably better sightings but what you have in jalen also you serianni. Yes hundred percent but washington in york both very active and did interesting. Things i think are worth discussing because dallas after the dak prescott deal was finally done. They've kind of made a few moves around the margins adding kia neil. Getting tied as kind of swing. Tackle still have question marks at adra sure and coroner but washington like i think they might have had my favorite free agency or at least the one that i'm most excited to see. I don't know payoff on the field. So just to recap. They signed the aforementioned ryan fitzpatrick one year. Ten million dollars. They tag branch eff. Who's there Pro bowler guard. They signed william jackson from the bengals. Cornerback three years. Forty two million dollars and then added panthers wide receiver. Curtis samuel for three years thirty four point five million dollars so just starting like let's start here. Do you agree with me like do you. Do you like what they did. And do you think it makes them an actual competitor in the division. A really like what. Washington did You know. I think among the guys among the quarterback that they could get because not only were they never in it for russell wilson or or wherever really going to be competitive for shawn watson You had to start looking okay. We'll what's realistic. And it's the ryan fitzpatrick coming off his best his career. It's an andy dalton and whereas that really gonna lead you I think that there was a lot of interest in marcus. Mariota he still is not able to sign with another team because the raiders are still holding him hostage But so. I like the quarterback. Move because you're essentially saying let's build up the team the and let's have the strongest team possible around the quarterback position where we don't sell out just because we have to for that position free agency. Maybe they make a move at the draft for a guy that they have their eye on. Or maybe they just say let's. Let's keep the boat floating this year and let's make our move Next free agency. So i thought that they probably overpaid by million or two on curtis samuel. But they wanted him And and ron rivera really likes them. Obviously william jackson an incredible deal You look around and you need another pass rusher and they can they can probably keep ryan kerrigan as a third down specialist if he comes down off his number end so you know he's he's still doing that. He's gonna get paid a whole lot of money. I'm not sure that that money is really out there especially at this point in free agency so they didn't want to mortgage their future for for quarterback right. Now they wanted to keep the boat afloat. I that and so. I like what they have done. Specially on evens. Then when you consider the the sort of offense and the pre-snap that they can have with all those offensive playmakers. Now that curtis annuals there with terry corn. I really like with done.

Top 10 players signed by Patriots

"Talk about the Patriots. The the Patriots grabbed everybody's attention by making move after move after move after move. Like we're watching it over agency going off. How many people are going to bring in its kind of unbelievable how many starters they've added? And so I count they added ten players that I think are very very significant to their team next year. In fact, I would say pretty clearly the Patriots are back and a lot of people saw this coming, you know, but they are going to be a force in the NFL next year here is my list my nerdy list of the ten players the top players. They added that are very significant to their roster next year. The first two are massive. It will reshape the entire Patriots offense. They added two tight ends Johnny Smith and Ed Hunter Henry. To Johnny Smith signed from Tennessee. He signed a four year deal worth up to fifty million dollars. That's Thirty one point two five million dollars guaranteed and he's only twenty-four years old. So that's Monday. That's a really gigantic Marquis franchise player. He cited the reason why it came to New England is cuz he loves Bill Belichick. He's got great respect for him. And I want to point out of all the everybody I'm about to talk about these shows to be in New England Bill Belichick got his kind of guys who sought out New England wanted to be there and wanted to work hard and win a Superbowl. I think it matters. It's very very exciting. These are not with Josh Gordon's or what's the other example Phillip Dorsett who they made a move for and they're not really like that. You think they fit they don't work out know. These are guys who all chose to be in New England who wanted to win a Superbowl. I really want to win a Superbowl. These guys went out of their way to be New England now the other tight and they brought in With twenty-six-year-old tight end Hunter Henry from the LA Chargers got a three-year deal twenty-five million dollars guaranteed. It's worth up to thirty seven point five million dollars total if he meets all those incentives. They also added two wide receivers the Patriots brought in Nelson agholor to a you got a two year twenty six million dollar contract East twelve years old. Now a lot of people do not like this move and I I get it Nelson agholor is not the most flashy player in the NFL but I think if it's very well with Cam Newton, he's good at he's not going up and getting the ball. He's got good hands did some stuff of the Raiders that I think deserves your attention go watch what he did with the Raiders and I just I'm like, huh a lot of good plays. Okay. I understand. I see the potential Bill Belichick and the Patriots would see and Nelson agholor go will give the guy a good contract, especially considering the Patriots have like our desolate at wide receiver. They need help. They got home. Who is awesome but he can't do everything by himself from the slot. They have n'keal Harry who n'keal Harry. I I think he's going to pop. I think he's going to progress and keep getting better. But she's not a number one right now. So on top of the page where it's also added Kendrick Bourne guy from my local area actually went to Eastern Washington University 25 years old. He's coming from the San Francisco 49ers. He got a three year deal worth twenty two point five million dollars. Now another thing the Patriots did they also added they signed Center Ted carriages and they traded for tackle Trent Brown. So this is the new Patriots offense right now. They've receivers Nelson agholor, Julian Edelman Kendrick born and kill hair is its own nuclear Aguilera. I'm doing my best. It's a hard game to say. They also have Sony Michelle running backs for any receivers Sony Michelle at running back and improved offensive line. Cam Newton at quarterback who I get why people doubt Cam? He's a former NFL MVP and with when you put cams Talent with a lot of weapons including two outstanding tight ends Hunter Henry Smith, right man. I'll tell you what I look at the Patriots offense and think two things immediately number one. Everything is going to run through their brand new Titans. Their entire offense now is probably going to drive down the seams of the field right up the middle. They're going to use our tents heavily lot of play-action again. I am scheme wise things will look a lot like the page words did back in the day when they had drunk and Aaron Hernandez together to start tight ends. Now number two. I feel very very confident with Cam Newton as the Patriots quarterback and it surprised me but I want to remind you that two years ago. Tom Brady was the page word starting quarterback and did basically nothing and the reason was there were no weapons there. He kept running into the same brick wall. His receivers weren't good enough. So, how can I think you and I would both agree. I like Cam Newton Tom Brady's a better quarterback than Cam Newton. So my point is if Tom Brady couldn't make it work with New England's roster. How was Cam Newton supposed to succeed? He was set up to fail will now Cam Newton's being given weapons is being set up to do. Well, I'm excited man. He's a former NFL MVP, he's hungry. I I personally believe Cam Newton's going to have an awesome year and it really is going to make extended one-year deal with like it was like three and a half million dollars with a bunch of incentives. I honestly think we're gonna look back at his contract at the end of next year and go. Can you believe the deal they got on Camden he played so well for no money. I really think he's he's a guy who can didn't play well enough wage. Last year to earn a new gigantic contract. So he's going to have to show what he can do this year and maybe earn more money next year but I think cam is poised to do very very well and make a lot of money and win a lot of games in New England

Stop with the Cam Newton nonsense

"Season officially upon us. We've got a lot of lot of stories a lot of rumors lot of things floating out there that may not make people happy. It's the long dark Patriots podcast. We're going to talk about everything and anything related to the Patriots particularly their quarterback situation, of course always rate review subscribe all that good stuff regarding Patriots podcast with Nick cattles nickel be back for another episode later on this week. I'm John zanis filling in and the story du jour or do week or whatever you want to say here appears to be a Cam Newton wage. His name is resurfacing and the Patriots quarterback starch and Greg. I can't I can't think of Anything worse to happen right now if you're a Patriots fan right now and and all you want is New Hope. Okay. This is a new hope the possibilities are endless blank canvas money draft picks Capital. Theoretically the Patriots could do a lot of different things some of which could be very exciting and interesting and I can't think of one thing that would just throw a wet blanket all over over all over that any more than bringing back Cam Newton. Yeah John, it's it's weird. I I started hearing the chatter on all the Sports Talk radio station a week and I'm like what the hell is going on? Like it's basically like Cam Newton's become it's similar to some of the debates that you hear in politics like where they just like Stoke fear in people to generate interest in their shows and things like that. It's like, ooh now Cam Newton's the boogeyman that like who they might be bringing Cam Newton back just to get people to react like people people need to settle down and this is why you suck. Had to be SJ this why you listen to this podcast because you know things like how last offseason when everybody was going nuts about Saddam was a guy in Cherry stem is going to be this and Jerry system is going to be that and he's going to be the next guy. You know, what did I tell you from January of last year over a year ago. I told you that he was not be the starter that there was going to be some sort of Veteran competition. So, you know, welcome to coming here where you where you get well informed you don't have to worry about the hysteria. You just get straight facts and and what's going on. So here's where we are. We Cam Newton and this is something that I've been talking about since the end of his Patriots season, which is it's always been a possibly that Cam Newton could come back here. It all depends on what happens with the market and who they end up with the quarterback and this and that but for anyone to suggest the Cam Newton month Is going to be re-signed being the definite number one. That's what we want starter here next year. That's not going to happen. It just it just isn't in and here's why. We've also sort of touched on this but just to sort of reinforce the point. I think what happened this past season is the Patriots realized and and look we've talked about it that there wasn't really a plan back to check understood that there weren't enough chairs for the quarterbacks and somebody was going to be left could have been Jameis Winston could have been Cam Newton could have been Andy Dalton could have been anybody. It happened to be Cam Newton and they said they'd make it work. It did not work and what I think John what happened was and actually I know this happened the Patriots realized after the Cam Newton experiment that not every quarterback can work in the system and that's not to say Cam Newton still not capable of playing good football. I think that he is do I think it could be better with a better Supporting Cast absolutely I do and do I think God Part of the problem last year. Yes, but at its basis in this scheme, you need a quarterback who sees the totality of what's going on in the field. You need someone who's going to win before the snap. You need somebody who's going to see something on the defense say that's this is about to be a bad play here. We're checking to this and Cam Newton outside of you know, he might he might have alerted a few plays here and there but not even close to what we've seen in and look I'm not going to compare him to Tom Brady. Nobody's going to be Tom Brady, but The Baseline Jimmy Garoppolo would have been a lot better. Jarrett Stidham probably would have been a lot better in terms of what he could even when Jarrett Stidham got in John. We saw things like Palm Coast him would change things that the line that's the Baseline in this offense. And that's where it starts. The number one tenant in this offense is don't run any bad place when the quarterback is incapable of doing that for whatever reason that's that's strike. Number one strike. Number two is understanding after the snap. What's going to happen? What is the defense going to do? What is that going to mean in in reaction time? Like if I see the if I see the free safety all of a sudden rotate from too deep to single single life safety. I should know like that who's going to be open, but great. Let me ask you real quick. Cuz everything you're saying makes perfect sense, but did you need a year of did the Patriots need a year of Cam Newton to know that he wasn't that guy? Is it did you think he was that guy walking through the door? Is there anybody really smart Personnel people out there who thought? Oh can't might be able to adapt to this Patriots dial offense. It didn't seem sensible fit. Anyway. This is a guy who's always had accuracy problems who who plays a totally different style of ball. I mean, I don't know why you would have brought him in the first place. If your idea was to offer a patriot style offense

Cowboys vs. Eagles score: Michael Gallup leads aerial assault against Philadelphia, keeps Dallas alive in NFC East

"Dallas cowboys ended the philadelphia eagles season on sunday afternoon at. At and t. stadium. That's right the eagles now with only four wins with only one game left even though the cowboys will need some help from them. The philadelphia eagles are officially done. And we'll have to look forward to two thousand and twenty one when their quarterback will be jalen hurts full-time or carson wentz. Who knows there's a lot to get into as it as it relates to this game again so many things happen. Let's start the first highlight to show you here. If you're watching on youtube sean. Jackson did indeed have an eighty one yard touchdown. Jalen hurts finds him about six minutes left in the first quarter. Just absolutely rose. We had absolutely chance. This is the type of thing that we've grown accustomed to seeing. Unfortunately from sean jackson he has gotten the better end of the cowboys for a long time over a decade. Schon jackson has been shown the cowboys now with multiple quarterbacks in multiple home stadiums schon jackson has had success. I'll give it to him that. At least this time. He remembered to score the touchdown and not fumbled the ball right in front of the goal line. Let's keep on. Let's get to some more happy. Highlights and michael gallup who was in contention for our star of the game. His first touchdown was a beauty as the second quarter. Began getting the cowboys. Back in the mix narrowing the margin. Fourteen to ten michael gallup like i said look at that elite camera work from fox. We'll talk about that in a second. Michael gallup quickly got to work. He had a big gain a little bit after a few minutes later. Look at this starting his own thirty five running down the sideline a bunch of eagles chasing him. Michael gallup doing all the work doing all the work doing all the work and then speaking of work you know the cowboys as we all know they like to feed ezekiel elliott. This was later on that possession the cowboys trailing fourteen. Ten and ezekiel elliott. There's no video of this so apologies. If you're watching on youtube you can see our freeze frame image. A looked like ezekiel elliott. Who had a really great game really looked like he scored on. This place is a bad angles from the tv copy but to me to my naked eye it looks like zeke. Elliott is over the line. I think that that's a touchdown. Zeke mike mccarthy did not challenge this. The cowboys wound up settling for fuel narrowing the margin fourteen to thirteen. They would ultimately start their climb back and they're ferocious. Climb back in fact. Let's get to that. Climb another michael gallup touched down here at the end of the first half andy dalton not even messing around just looking right for him and michael gallup again just a superstar a true wide receiver. One cowbys have three of them. Dalton schultz you can see very happy for his teammate. This was a phenomenal performance by michael gap

Dallas Cowboys Defense Steps Up With 3 Turnovers To Get Win In Andy Dalton’s Return To Cincinnati

"Cowboys you know. Obviously the thing got away and and they tried to cincinnati. Try to get back in. But ed to put this perspective. I mean the the you've talked about all year that the cowboys are horrific at like scoring off of turnovers and they barely ever do it. And all of that kind of thing. It almost looked like they were going to score on their first drive a touchdown something. They haven't done all season. Something they hold with like the broncos. Maybe other one other really horrible team perhaps cincinnati. They haven't scored. They have not scored a touchdown their first drive all season. That continued the cowboys. Were not able to score a touchdown. But ed i mean to score seventeen points off three turnovers. They caused that. That was remarkable stuff. Even against the hapless Bengals considering or the cowboys had been while is only the second time in the last two decades of the cowboys have gotten a takeaway on each of their first three defensive possessions. Last time it happened was twenty thirteen against the giants when they had two interceptions. A fumble recovery on the giants. I three possession. So that was manning. I guess But yeah pretty impressive that this this comes obviously in a week. After which mike mccarthy made a he basically said they quit last week. You know we remember. We talked about the easy money touchdown at the end of the game that there was just there. Were too many guys who once again just like in. The cleveland game could easily be accused of not giving full effort. And mike mccarthy said he brought that subject up this week to this team

"Football was not that good of a game. I'm going to be honest with you and tell you that. I'm recording this before monday night. Football but patriots jets. Just doesn't seem like it's going to be all too cool but anytime the patriots and jets play. I do think about the scene. In mr deeds. Were adam sandler is talking about like. Oh yeah you know. The patriots are going to destroy the jets. Whatever and the helicopter pilots like. I'm sorry sir you owned the jet. So yeah that's cool eastbound. The dallas cowboys are on their by this week and obviously that means they will not be playing a game. It is the week of the masters a week of the. Ps five release. So hopefully you have to preoccupy your time without the cowboys down. But mcgee another lackadaisical performance although that's not really fair because the cowboys really did play well as we talked about on our post game show. I thought that this was a really encouraging performance from the dallas cowboys. And i'm excited. I really am excited to see what this team looks like. Come next sunday on the road against the minnesota. Vikings mike mccarthy said on one five three the fan before the cowboys played the steelers that during the bye week. The team would be doing something he called across the hall. Where the often coaches work with the defensive players and vice versa. I tweeted at this. Did give me shades or vibes of one casteel in philadelphia. Hopefully it doesn't ended up like that. We will see a few notes that happened on monday. Speaking of one of three defense. Stephen jones did appear on the home of the dallas cowboys and he gave us two important pieces of information number one. Andy dalton according to stephen jones will remain the team's starting quarterback when he is able to play. Obviously andy dalton is coming off of the concussion but he was placed on the reserve covid nineteen list last week. And so you know. It's certainly possible depending on on anti don's health likely but again obviously every case is unique that he would be able to play for the cowboys next sunday in minnesota but we will see assuming that is the case it does seem like the cowboys have made up their mind. I disagree with this. I've talked about before how. I would not want to throw andy dalton into two games in five days right away. I also think garrett gilbert played well i also think that garrett gilbert has a potential future as the backup quarterback of the dallas cowboys while it seems like andy dalton certainly wants to leverage his one year playing for america's team into a contract as a starting quarterback for different team and nobody can blame for that. But that's what. I would want those snaps to go where i could use them the most if i ran and i do think that that is towards garrett gilbert but you know andy dalton seemingly be lining up under center and when he does it will be not be honest again. Stephen jones saying. I wonder if i three fan if you watch the cowboys game closely. You know that tyler really did not play against pittsburgh. Steelers had a hamstring issue flare up during warm ups and steven jones noting. The beyond ish is expected to be out two to three weeks at minimum. Remember the cowboys run by this week than they are in minnesota next sunday as mentioned then they host the washington football team on thanksgiving day and then seven days after that. They visit the baltimore ravens. I wonder if that is too soon of a day for beyond to return. Maybe were thinking. Maybe it's possible. He returns the following week on the road against cincinnati. Bengals we will see stephen. Jones also met with local media on monday and reiterated a phased-in mike mccarthy. I know how this is a subject. i mean. obviously the fact that the cowboys to in seven. I suppose invites questions and i'm not trying to be obtuse to that but i feel like it's i mean again with extreme challenges of this season and this year i don't you know losing all the players. The cowboys have lost injury. I just. I don't know how you could put this mike mccarthy but masters me op steven jones. It was a big stephen jones day. Monday wise also reiterated a faith in dak prescott that. He's the team starting quarterback right now the dallas cowboys are projected to have the third overall pick in the two thousand and twenty one. Nfl draft. There are some people who believe that that should be utilized on one of the young and promising quarterbacks coming out of the college game I do not feel that way. I'm going to assume you do not feel that way. And it appears that steven jones does not feel that way so Whatever pick the cowboys ultimately end up with. It does seem like they will either be more interested in trading down or in drafting some help for dak prescott which is what. I certainly think that they should do. Speaking of by the way the cowboys draft position it is. We've reached the time where we will be tracking Or rather not tracking by putting together a compiling routing guides normally. Do this with regards to the cowboys. Playoff possibilities right like. Here's what rooting for the cowboys into the playoffs etc. Starting this week blocking the boys dot com and on our social channels. We'll have some routing guides available for you if you are team tank to let you know who you should be rooting for who you should be rooting against etc etc etc other. Bits of news. That are certainly important as they pretended ass cowboys. It was reported on monday afternoon. The pittsburgh steelers originally themselves announced that a player tested positive on monday morning for covid nineteen. Obviously this is important because the dallas cowboys just played. The pittsburgh. Steelers will graves. Who covers the pittsburgh steelers rather as a covers. Nfl for the associated press pittsburgh's reported that it was tight end vance mcdonald. He played twenty offensive snaps against the cowboys. I think it's worth mentioning that. There was a situation obviously with the baltimore ravens last week when they lost the steelers in baltimore People people just noted obviously in the lead up to cowboy stares at the stairs. It'd be planning to cowboys and so all the best events mcdonald but we will see what happens there again. God willing everything's cool and vance gets ride and everything is okay in that regard but as mentioned the cowboys are on by this week the final thing and i do think this will be a discussion in. We'll see if he has claimed tack. Mckinley was waived by the atlanta falcons. On monday there was some public discourse. Think the best way to put it between tack. Mckinley and the falcons over the last couple of weeks and so obviously they decided it was best to just move on from him. Entirely the dallas cowboys had some interest intact mckinley back leading up to the two thousand seventeen. Nfl draft. They obviously ended up. Drafting taco charlton. Not tj watt but. They were interested in tax mckinley. Charles harris so. I don't know. I mean the cowboys would have to put in a waiver claim. They do have a high prioritization mentioned by the nfl draft order. But i think it's worth it. I mean at this point just experimenting with the season and so We'll see what happens there but Mixture subscribe to the blog of the boys. "A guy that last year set the single season record for receptions and a guy who last year you could have made an argument was valuable player in the League, and then you just point hasn't played since week one and these are unusual circumstances a fight in practice. Then he gets injured in practice is there's some reason to think something is going on in New Orleans other than your natural. Scepticism and cynicism right? Like that's that's always wonder when something like this because it feels weird to your point but to this point, no, they're saying once he fully healthy, he will play art. We'll keep an eye on obviously every week feels like an eternity but we're not even halfway through the season. We'll see what he can contribute this year. "You know with a team like that going to face them I think he can definitely put up twenty thirty points against them. You know it's Kim the defense you know. Give them a chance now I think that's fair. I think. You know the again that defense that run and it's weird to call it a run. But that run really really slept on and it's unfortunate that it didn't turn out to be more. But like the no player on the cowboys defense that's as good as vaunt perfect was at its peak. Talent standpoint and so that's that's certainly what I think this this Andy Dalton team is missing as opposed to to those Andy. Dalton teams I agree with you I think I think not that it's a wash but I think you can. You can almost say that it's very similarly. From an offensive standpoint my final question Jason You obviously do a great job running since jungle and have your eye on the rest of the NFL and you're a bit more objective here any as to what best quarterback in the NFC east now in your mind. That's tough one I mean. No worse than third because I mean Dwayne Haskins is kind of a mess and Alex Smith I mean I Alex Smith before he got hurt I would've put them ahead of thought. I. Mean. It just seem on the field grade no idea how good he can be now but so I mean Carson Wentz and Daniel Jones I mean. I would take. And situation over them like I If you could put them in the Dallas offense, I'd rather have wins Jones. I mean he's probably slightly better, but he turns the ball over so much at five thousand won't do that. So it'd be really close to me but you actually I know I said last question but I lied so is his Andy. Is He that guy that that is he gonNA take care of the ball. Is he prone to turnovers because again, we can all go back and look at different and things like that but you've lived it. Is He that guy or or is he somebody who's a bit more protective things? He he's tends to be more protective the is falling apart and he's not got grain he you'll have two or three games but like from. Twenty fifteen to twenty sixteen. He had like fifteen total interceptions over that two year span and he doesn't fumble it much. You know even for someone that runs definitely not. Daniel Jones. Yeah I think this offense he'll take care of the ball. Okay. Okay my absolute last one for facing not really football related. What is? I. Mean 'cause cowboys fans are GonNa have to root for any for a couple of months I mean you know this is in a short term thing it's almost an entire season in some respects. What's a fun quirky interesting thing about Andy Dodd that not a lot of people I think that some might have said the bills, association. After all that happened a couple years ago but I mean what? What is there to his personality? We haven't. We haven't seen him do a lot of press conferences. You know what I mean. So what what is what is the Andy Dalton? Experience. he's a super nice guy. He's a great role model. He does so much charity work in Cincinnati and I don't know how much he still does but I'm sure he does some Dallas and he's already Texas native There was already stuffy there, but he's I I mean out of all the people in the NFL he's absolutely one of the best guys they're like I always said it's like I, don't know if I'd want Dalton Franchise quarterback but a role model if I ever have kids. Definitely near the top NFL, he's a great guy. He just you can't help but root for him. You know and I really hope he has successive Dallas in gets I. Think they're make the playoffs I mean I don't know who they'll play I mean right now I guess it could be A. You know whoever? Between Tampa Bay New Orleans doesn't get that division someone like that. So I, hope he I hope he gets that playoff when this year well it's I think certainly agree this again circumstances aside, the best opportunity could have asked for the chance to prove his worth in a contract year for the Dallas. Cowboys play some some Primetime TV games I mean right before we recorded I saw two of the three most watch things over the last month or cowboys games, and so Andy's chance. Actually. My absolute on. This is more league-wide. Where could you? Where could you see andy playing if follow the hypothetical that he plays moderately well, let's let's even say the cowboys when the division say they get just you know beaten in the wildcard round by Tampa Bay whatever the case may be, but but he becomes you know his his ideal is Ryan Tannehill of last year and so what what team could you kind of see him maybe ending up on just given the way his career has gone so far Depending. On Dax injury I could see them maybe signing him next year like giving him. Just depending on what he gets on the open market. Kind of be insurance for day, but. The Jaguars the jets depending on what happens with darnold. Maybe the Redskins I mean it's I I haven't seen a lot I ask to someone you want to rely on. So probably one of those three. There's not a lot of openings right now I mean it's there's been a lot of infusion of young quarterbacks lightly and then guys like tannehill coming out of nowhere to be franchised guys. So there's not a whole lot of openings and you know those three teams I mentioned they're gonNa be in position to take elect Trevor Lawrence or. Justin field. So It's GonNa be tough to find a situation maybe the bears you know can't forget them. That's a team that's probably going to be lighter in the draft and won't get those guys. So probably feeds on. Dallas. The bears will probably be the best situation for next year I know he was linked to the jets and the bears as options obviously the bears decided to trade for. Nick. Foles to give themselves insurance. The one author out right now I think Denver and that's kind of John elway thing. Right you know go out and get the you know journeyman who's kind of having success and and that kind of that's the time line of maybe when drew lot comes back, he doesn't necessarily look promising and the because you're I, don't think they're going to be you know top sevenish you know what I mean. So they're gonNA. They're gonNA be treading water. The Way Denver always does and I believe for full poetry wasn't it was Denver Monday night game. I think the First Game Cincinnati played without Dalton in two thousand fifteen. Now they played the forty niners the week before they played. DENVER. Then they played Baltimore at home and that was because I vividly remember demarcus where's like game winning fumble recovery yeah and then they obviously went on to win the Super Bowl shadow to AJ McCarron AJ in both ended up in Texas look a bit. So Jason Thank you so much for taking the time to join us You guys do a great job since in jungle talk about Joe Borough will see you in week fourteen wall will link back up then by then the cowboys will be something like I dunno like ten in three or whatever. "So to say for him and then in twenty fifteen, they played the sea hawks in Cincinnati and I can't remember his fourteen or seventeen they got down but they got down big and they ended up coming back and beating the seahawks and overtime. So those were definitely two of the favorites and then of course, at Pittsburgh in twenty twelve which. It was week sixteen and it was basically a playoff game like whoever wins this gets in the playoffs and down didn't have a great game he struggled. But when it mattered most, he's through a beautiful pass Aj green that got him down the field for the game winning field goal. So those are definitely my favorite ones. Now, you mentioned Cedrick Wilson earlier in the game that Jack was injured he threw a touchdown to Dak Prescott correct me if I'm wrong has it I WANNA say I remember I WANT WANNA. Say it was against the Falcons maybe Muhammed's throwing a touchdown to any. Am I making that up or or is he ever done anything like that? You close I think it was the week before the week after they played the titans in they actually threw a touchdown to him because I remember the titans defender. As as the ball was coming to it looked like for sure of the Titans, Guy was going to get it and it'd be a pick six but somehow he missed it Dalton caught it and ran for the touch though so that you know I mean again, if we're trying to be as optimistic as possible that that wrinkle of of Kellyn, Moore's you know offenses ended up as an athlete is I guess what I'm getting at. Is 'cause that twenty, fifteen season when when Cincinnati fans had such a great run up until the injury. I'm sure you remember just kind of from the cowboys angle that was Tony Romo's lost year the cowboys play twelve games without him and they want one of them, and so that was kind of the last time that this team was in in this this sort of purgatory in they had Brandon Weeden and Matt Castle and Kellan more actually, and so I do feel like this is a higher floor in that sense. Can you because I think people look at Joe? Borough, now's plan really well, obviously, you know whatever you lose the ravens there's no shame in that but certainly all the reason in the excited about him. But can you kind of just give cowboys fans a one? I want I want a one on on wide fallout. Now I feel like fall as a heavy word. But just why it was time for Andy Dalton, and the bengals go their separate ways. Well again, part of it was just they kept losing guys guys go AJ Green. Got Hurt. He missed much of Dalton's last two seasons there and I mean, they had some decent players like Auditing Tyler Boyd? The throw to. But those aren't guys you want to be your number one receiver you know on A. Five hundred team no. He just didn't have much to work with a again. He's just not. He's not a brady he's not a breeze. You know he's he's not going to elevate a bad offense he's going to he's going to play bad and the offensive line was just horrific. So it really wasn't all on Dalton, but he was getting older. You know he was regressing at least in Cincinnati system. So it was, time they got number one overall pick they. You know they really much of a choice I had to take borrow and they had to move on you know and they tried to trae Dalton. They wanted to find a good situation form but you know they they didn't WanNa. Make him be the backup borough. They wanted to give him a chance to go star so it wasn't just that. Don'ts performance you know they love and respect him, and they wanted to see him get to go somewhere else and show that he can still play I. think that that's I saw a tweet from our friend Rebecca toe back who's been on this show too about Andy Dalton. It's this isn't a really you know well, same thing I think with a lot of players but is is the general sense from Bengals fans, and now that Andy Dalton has this shot is it I hope he does well or is it? You know who cares because different players received different ways from their their fan base? You know what I mean. Yeah, I mean I think the really the true fans that really you know. Watch and just love their team and enjoy it and try not to be negative that you know. I mean that's not do right now but. This was he andy don't brought one of the greatest periods franchise history I mean they made five. Five straight playoff trips and that this doesn't happen here this a franchise that would make one or two a decade and even with Carson Palmer. They only made two playoff trips with him in those why I'm loaded themes to yeah but. You know. I think the majority of bingles fans wanted to see him succeed somewhere else wanted to see him get a chance to win a playoff game and now he gets to its. In ironically it's the same season where he's GonNa come back to Cincinnati late in the season well that and you actually kind of set me up for the well. So I it took me a while I mean I'm sure you can understand the first twenty four hours after the injury it was just sulking and you know why back and really Kinda mad at the football gods and then I realized wow, andy will get to head back to Cincinnati and I remember you know we all talked about that in tweeted about it and stuff when you know and we know obviously that entities and AFC north played this year but. Our Andy Sandwich the cowboys it was just kind of fun. You know sort of underlying story. But now he will head in as the starter barring injury between now and then the cowboys have already played the Browns obviously. But the cowboys still have yet to play the Pittsburgh steelers and the Baltimore Ravens as well as the bales obviously, and he's never played the bengals but generally how his indy fared against Baltimore in Pittsburgh because those are games that right now, I would not give the cowboys any Chanson but are they and coaching staff change and things like that. But but has he had legitimate performances against those teams. He has especially Baltimore I mean Aj Green just kill the Ravens and. Indulging I mean he they. They hooked up for some beautiful actions like light and fourth quarters to beat them not as much success against the steelers but he has won twice in. Pittsburgh so he knows how to beat both of them and. I mean, it's still Kinda the jury's out on how good this offense is going to be within compared to the bengals. But this offense is definitely right there with the twenty fifteen team, they could end up being better so..

"Biggest questions of what's going on right now. I can't be go scores and not do things that we have to be crush. Adult discretion is advised but seriously kids of all ages are welcome. Even you grown up. Kids come was the island on spotify or wherever you listen to today explained back ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ma so last thing because I really WANNA rank Andy Dalton's worth to the cowboys but I think I think every cowboys fan should hope that antidote does play under the right circumstances in twenty twenty. Obviously you don't want to see him play. You know because something happened to Dak Prescott but I think what you want if you're a cowboys. Fan is further cowboys to lock up the number one seed or to be blowing people out in for Andy to come in because Andy Dalton is on a one year deal. What what you really want is Antidote Dalton to show the rest of the NFL. Hey guess our I've still got it and then come two thousand twenty one. Have somebody say you know what Andy? Want you come be the quarterback for the Jaguars or whatever and then you know you get a two thousand twenty two compensatory pick for him so you know I also. I just remembered while we were talking that when the cowboys interviewed Mike McCarthy they interviewed Marvin Lewis and obviously it wasn't a hundred percent known that Andy Dong would be available back then Granted the Bengals did have the number one pick and everybody kind of knew they were taking Joe Borough but I wonder if if just say shit happened there. Okay what do you think about Andy Don because who would know him better than Marvin Lewis in? I'm I'm sure that there's people that talk. I mean these coaches talk. I mean it's A. It's a small fraternity network and I'm sure that a lot of that went into all this decision making when you know any goal to me seems like a really good. I love the instagram photos or video Kim throwing in the backyard the net. I'm like is that Photoshop. Because he threw like four or five and his his kids like giving them toss and Stony Brook. Look at this point I really. I didn't really follow some online anti-dole because when he was at Tcu yes When the cinncinnati-based you know in this part of the country will we follow the cowboys. But now I mean I I think it's a I think it's a great decision on to bring a man again at a bargain deal and under the circumstances in look. I'M NOT GONNA PUT. I'll I'll I'll use this. Hypothetically what did they tell Andy Gall look? We're going to give you a one year deal. You'RE GONNA get a chance to play 'cause we don't we may not sign all that Prescott so you're going to be the guy. Well I'm just saying hypothetically as you get two or three games on your Bell I look. I'm just I'm trying to you know just throwing stuff against the wall. We won't stuff up in the air and you know the the sky's the limit with this to saying that if you buy into that I can understand that whole situation with Andy Gull. Silt they can be a started in a national football. He goes out there and puts up. Preseason plays an appreciate play maybe two or three games in the regular. I don't know I'm just saying the best case scenario for Andy Dalton for Jerry and Stephen and we'll maclay to sell him. You're may be all at chance to quarterback game. Excuse me as a quarterback and you in ball then you show the world look. I still get skills. I think the I mean. There's clearly among backup quarterbacks. The Path has there's two paths. I think if you're a backup trying to get back to being a starter one is and this is harder to do you go to a team that seemingly has a very questionable starter in hope you know as bad as that sounds that that that player gets benched and the best example is Ryan Tannehill last year. You know kind of banged on the fact that Marcus Mariota wasn't that great you know was patient. Got His opportunity. Made the most of it then got his deal now. He's started for the Tennessee. Titans I think the other route the more common route is the one teddy bridgewater tip goby a backup on a very good a very high profile team that you know gets a lot of national publicity and you know. Get your name back out. There and Teddy Bridgewater was a big. He was one of the most popular players in the NFL last year. Just because of who the New Orleans saints are I mean. I'm not trying to anything from Teddy. The guy went five know when he started for drew. Brees but that boosts your you know your image and whatever you WANNA call it a lot. So if Andy Dalton does you know get a chance in mop up duty or whatever for the cowboys to do it for the cowboys. That's gotTa help and so it's something that we that what we do is put out. There is a scenario. And you know given the circumstances in your we're GONNA WE'RE GONNA take this This look different scenarios. The cowboys may take in advantage that they don't have which I'm for sure they'll one way or the other. Something's going to happen whether the franchise whether sign a long-term building we don't know yet. There's a lot of time but again I think when you look at the situation that they are now I think they were kinda forced not forced but well yeah to to be able to have some security in a backup quarterback and again three million dollars to play back quarterback. Chuck it's okay for Danny goal. Okay so I don't think it's a bad deal. Consider you know he. He got booted out of Cincinnati. Go Different Route. Three million dollars from the cowboys perspective. For the best possible insurance you could have is one hundred percents worth it. Okay so for the purposes of this exercise we're going to assume rightfully so that Andy Dalton. Qb To for the cowboys. So where does he rank for you? He he's the what most important player on the cowboys. I think to start it off. I don't think he's any more valuable than any of your eleven starters which obviously includes Dak Prescott on offense. Or you're eleven starters on defense. I don't think that your backup quarterback is more valuable unless you know you had. Tom Brady backing up. I mean there's that's ridiculous but I don't think that your backup quarterback is more valuable than any of your starters. Do you agree with that? I agree with that now with you. Okay so fifteenth and will will will have Joel. We're talking about right now. I think it's a I think it's a great situation to be in. I think yeah I think under the circumstances I mean I can't. He's not a starter. Backup quarterback and you know that's what we do. We value that. You know the the court of the southern when you don't have We we valued at more than if they actually had. That makes okay so so I to me. It's it hasn't changed my perspective. I think as we go on and time dismay change to one eight share onto one. I think it may be a different. The different circumstances and how they value his his His presence on the show then for now though. He's you know he's not in the top twenty. Two players on the team is twenty hundred or is is You know we still have yet to see who this team swing. Tackles going to be Is is you know Connor McGovern more valuable. I is or if conner's stars are your. Are Your backup. You know. Knicks Offensive Lineman more valuable than your backup quarterback. That's trying to figure out where Andy Dalton's worth is too. I think he's I think he's more valuable for the backups. I think is you mentioned? You have the Levin twenty two starters you have but when I look at the whole you know the the scheme of this team Knowledge you have a quarterback like that and look. It's a hypothetical question. Okay because a lot of things are you know. In the event that there there is a hold out. I mean I think it is an insurance policy for the cowboys. And so his body becomes more important But certainly with other positions on this team. I mean Joe Donna. I think that he is. You know that's a question. Mark at center position there. Because you lose a star like Travis Frederick. That's a question more of a concern so e right now in the value of the of what these what the I mean. I guess you can look as being valuable because the guys got you know. He's got a fill in the shoes of perennial all pro potential hall of Famer. And that's not easy to if we're let's assume JOE loonies starter. So then he's he's more valuable right and Andy Dalton because he's you're starting center hypothetically so like hypothetically on defense are would you say Randy Gregory and or Alden? Smith are more valuable to the two thousand twenty cowboys and Andy Dalton. Assuming that playing there's a lot of assumptions and hypothetical. I understand if you're active player Trindon is back last time. I checked the backup quarterback back this sits over on the sidelines. And you know this is a clip award is has The Europeans on night knows what plays are rancho he needs a non factor the people that are actually contributed whether it's rotational defensive. Line obviously yeah. There's more value. There are Jay without a doubt is Andy Dalton more valuable than Tony Pollard. Who like who between those two players who is more valuable this contribution what he can do as far as special teams on his values running back as far as a one two. Pots with Zeke Well without a doubt he's more valuable it because he's GonNa be. He's can contribute Andy Dalton as a stands right now Dak Prescott. The starting quarterback only value that he has if he gets hurt in. He can't play. And then all of a sudden. You know these everything changes practice. And that's a good chain. That's the interesting exercise from me. Like this is a weird way to put it. I guess but like if you I don't know if you had an amazing car right and you had car insurance but say you didn't have. I don't know I'll put it all. I'll reframe it. You know how like when you buy a new like an IPAD or computer. Whatever and I don't want to buy the insurance for yeah and it's always no. It's always know unless it's like something really really really really care and you're also going to happen. You're going to drop that. So let's call it. Your your computer your your. You can't live without this computer. It's the center of everything you do. And you have the extended warranty for that or you have your IPAD and you. You know your sign has. Ps four whatever and all those other things but those don't have extended warranties so then it becomes a manner of what's more important to you. What do you value more the extended warranty on on your your computer or your IPAD. You know what I mean because I think that that's the that's interesting conundrum for me is what do you what do you value more the the security knowing that you have security for your main thing or your other thing and that's all right. That's why I think Tony Pods an interesting example because to your point if everything goes well obviously Tony. Pires more valuable to the cowboys. Because he's going to contribute way more often than Andy Dalton but Andy Dalton does give you some mental piece that you have that so what do you. What do you value more value for me? I valued I mean. It's an awesome conversation to be Korea. So you know this. All these fans are like okay. Well we got any dulling that wants too much money. So we're we're we're good you know. Let's say it. It's just you know this spontaneous reaction to you know whatever they get caught up in a bid to sign a free agent like golf which they don't they forget about that. Prescott about how much you can contribute. And what he's done on his last four years so you know I value more of the you have. It's like debt man. You have to have a bench attack or death everywhere so you gotta you gotTa value. Dana's plus you quarterback for sure to me or to me wants to say okay. I really value a lot of Andy Dalton because of the situation that Prescott the unknown we all know. Hopefully it's GonNa get done But what happens if he holds out for two years or excuse me for two years for two games? Which I don't think is GonNa Happen but the point and one side's GonNa is going to bed and right now. I think the cowboys Sonnen someone like Andy. Dalton makes it a little easier for them. Not that they have leverage that they'd have security..

"It's also a one year deal the way I look at it here. Rj is up one Under the circumstances you know with the new offense and just a very potentially explosive offense. Obviously add seating lamb a new coach. Mike McCarthy you bring someone in like Andy Doll which just had success. I mean look at his record postseason and his one in Cincinnati. Now you put him in and insist were now is. GonNa you know he's GonNa Grass hold of us. Oh He's going to be ready and prepared mentally. I mean we don't know what the pandemic what that's GonNa you know what the future holds for that But then on the second thing is is is is Dak Prescott looks at this. I mean you cannot be immune to little insecurity of like little like poke and little leverage for the cowboys now because quite frankly if you if you rank him right now without them sign and Dak Prescott I would say using your top two or three players considering hypothetically if Dak Prescott is not signing holds out or two two weeks and then we saw this last year. Zeke Elliot correct so I think that really Posturing wise and and not really fill in filmed. I think if you feel you feel more More comfortable in more secure about Andy Dalton. And you did Cooper Rush. Well I don't. I don't think that Andy provides the cowboys leverage at all. I don't see that I mean I understand. Obviously you know jackets. Technically you know up for new deal. Hasn't signed his franchise tag and whatnot but disagree with that. Because I think he wanted forty million dollars and all of a sudden bring Andy Dalton. What's Andy Dalton again? I mean there's a reason why he's not in Cincinnati and you talk about the you know just a new era with Joe all new quarterback in coaches and different a change the guard. But I will say this You know it's leopards for them. I mean regardless if you people don't WanNa admit that or not I mean it's a lot easier dylan in a position at the table with antidote. And as opposed to Cooper rush that it's certainly it is different in that you know your backup option is Andy Dalton. Verse Cooper Rush However. I think if if we're living in this hypothetical and in your if your two options are one and I'm not saying that Prescott is asking for forty million dollars you that's the number. You said right now so to us that if option one is paid at Prescott for a million dollars a year or option to go at it with Andy Dalton I will take option one ten out of ten times. There's there's no world that I would prefer option two so while while Andy Dalton as the floor of the Non Dak Prescott options because he's significantly better than cooper rush. I still don't think that provides leverage. I mean it. It makes the team better. Now is the way I was coming at this like you know. So you know I agree with you in a Dak Prescott this world. Andy Dalton his. I think he's the most importantly on the couch because he's the quarterback but with that Prescott obviously there I and I I mean this this will I really. I don't see how this doesn't get done. You know when it comes to July fifteenth. This is that we've seen the handle it. This way demarcus. Lawrence used his shoulder surgery as leverage to get. You know the cowboys to sign him to the deal. He wanted and because they had no choice. They caved Zeke Elliot. You just mentioned he held out and they caved in the final week of the preseason and so this is a team that when the eleventh hour hits and it's either a cave or move on without the player they usually cave in fact they gave a hundred percent of the time. So you know I know it's May But you know what is it may sixth obviously so like five six weeks from now I think they will k- or not five six nine ten weeks from now. I think they'll cave and give Jack whatever team wants. Which is a four year deal versus a five year deal? I mean if that's if that's the case and look I. I agree with that. They'll get done. I'm this is is. There's not as much a sense of urgency or not. Desperation is probably not the right war will may be. You know if you're looking to cooper rushes your backup quarterback. Maybe this thing. This kind of fell into the cowboys lap. Me Look at the whole draft and Alikhan Andy Dull. I understand when you look at a viable backup quarterback on these circumstances. Sure it's not a bad Position of being and regardless of of what people might think is a player. You a little bit more insecure. Now that you actually have someone. has been established stone for thirty thousand yards. A May had a terrible y'all year last year but still in you're plugging in and system and you really don't know how you know he'll set up. And how thrive if he has to and I ask Andy Dalton. Dhec PRESCOTT IS A quarterback. But I'm just saying from you're asking the cowboys. Say they said they would give thirty three million and a four or five months a five year. Do So if you're stuck at one one number one way or the other one year or whatever that number may be this may be just enough to like the the cowboys may balk and I really think. I really think that this is the position cabbage taken. Now they feel like they have a little laborde let more leverage. Because they don't have to worry about that they don't have to get if he doesn't sign a deal by July fifteenth is going to be under the Franchise Tag K. So he's GonNa make whatever that is thirty army might not play. I mean you may not. So that's we'll see like you across the road. There's a long time until that can happen. But I think certainly I think the the price of poker's changed somewhat I even if that were true. I think than the cowboys gave up leverage. If you want if you want to call it all this leverage when they waived cooper rush because if we're being hypothetical hypothetical here is you know that that they aren't able to get a deal done what back and he says. I'm not going to play on the tag and so then you have to go at twenty twentieth. Andy Dalton has your starter. Then why wave cooper rush now because if that were the case then you would need cooper rush to backup. Andy Dalton. Because you don't want a seventh round rookie Ben Dina to be your primary backup. You would at least want it to be a veteran with three years. Nfl experience so to me. I at the very least the fact that they wave cooper rush you know in plies we know. Andy Dalton. Is Our backup quarterback. We want those third quarterback snaps to go to a rookie project into NUCCI and Dak. Prescott is our unquestioned starter. I mean that comes to that it becomes that point were Cooper rush I guess he ended up signing with the giants pine by nine. So I mean look I mean. I wasn't impressed. What Cooper arrested? I wasn't impressed with Kelly Moore did as a backup quarterback. I think those guys are dying dozen. You can go out. And find a guy like cooper rush in science and one backup but why why? Release him immediately. Then you know like the incentive there was no incentive to releasing cooper Washington senators. Now you have to. I mean you look at the salary. Cap The incentive is is like okay? Well we're going to release him now because honestly. I don't think they really had much confidence of someone like Cooper Rush. And he was very expendable. I mean I think that that's the the stance that they took. We don't need this guy and I don't think you can look at it that way R. J. You can't just because they cut Cooper Russ doesn't do anything to think okay. Well that's you know. They lost leverage. Because they find a quarterback. I don't think they they drafted a kid. You know I mean I would feel more comfortable. Maybe have developed in that guy than worrying about going science one else then. Not then not release Cooper Rush. Right they lost leverage. If you believe that Andy Dalton provides leverage. I don't believe that Andy Dalton provides any and I think that when you follow the paper trail here this offseason they tend to cooper rush at two point one million dollars which showed at the very least a minimal amount of interest in him and then Andy Dalton became available in in that kind of not. They're not the same things. But kind of like CD. Lamb they idea see dealer would fall to seventeen to they. Pull the trip right. So Andy Dalton suddenly becomes available. Oh Wow we didn't see this was going to happen. So let's just reverse course. I know. He tendered Cooper Rosh Palacios bail on that and the but my point is the reason you can bail on cooper rush is because you know that. Andy Dalton is your second quarterback. That's my point. I don't think you get rid of Cooper rush. If you have even the most remote idea that Dak Prescott might not be available to because if Dak Prescott were not available to the cowboys they would have needed. Andy Dalton and Cooper rush and the fact that they feel confident that they don't need cooper is clear that they believe their quarterback room will include. Dak Prescott Andy Dalton and bandage well. They tendered him. Two point one million dollars paying Andy Dalton three main. This five million dollars at this hour between two quarterbacks okay with the upside of him making seven million if he does get any plans on this does you know there is a hold out The say case scenario that Prescott doesn't doesn't doesn't play the year which is not gonNA happen. You know my point is a lago back to the PASA cowboys. Spent Seventy six seventy dollars on a backup quarterback. Okay so I think you're getting a bargain deal with Andy Goal not look. I'm not build Andy Dalton up DAK Prescott is a quarterback in future in the however you WanNa look at it. I mean the cowboys they had to take a stance and go out and get someone you know that was available in getting so there's on both sides. I mean it's a game. They're playing a game but I really think that if you look at it all in look he may he may be. Ma Play. Hopefully I'm dying. Put this out there. But we all remember the Brandon Wade Years. Whenever he had the pleasure. It was horrible so not that he's ever going to be in a position like that. But you know that gets hurt but I think there are some security there with the cowboys knowing that can go out and get a proven veteran like Andy. Hey everyone this is. "And all the while. Andy Dalton is performing on the field at a pretty high level gets often repaid with replace him with. Aj McCarron replace him with Ryan Finley Replacing Joe Burrow he puts his head down. He stays strong headstrong because of his family in his faith. If you don't share his faith fine but that's a big part of who he is. That's a big part of his family's identity. I think that's what's made him in a lot of ways a successful player and a successful human being he. He has a passion for people. He has a passion for helping people. He's a family man and he makes no bones about what he's about and I think that we can all respect that with with Andy Dalton and his make no bones about who I am type of approach in hard knocks. You know you got you got quite the look at some colorful characters in need two thousand twelve edition. Any Dalton was is lighthearted Worships on seeing self amidst all this other stuff that was going on so that that's always something that stuck out being not being in Cincinnati. Personally speaking I. I don't have a lot of Andy Dalton personal stories I have a couple I've gone to games and Seen Him in hotels prior to Games. I remember my nephew. When he was a little younger. In two thousand fifteen we went to the Arizona game and he went out and Approached Andy Dalton and. Aj McCarron are waiting for rides. Apparently out out by the lobby and Andy Dalton was very kind to my nephew a young kid at the time. I won't forget that I remember riding in elevator in San Diego. I believe in the same year in a hotel in San Diego and yeah I will say the San Diego chargers because I'm meaning the San Diego chargers. Not the Oakland Raiders. That was mistake earlier. I apologize but I remember riding in an elevator with them and we didn't want to bug him and he was just sitting back there kind of quiet and standing with it. I believe as parents and Lucky Guy. Lucky guy very seemed to be very kind and I think a lot of fans would resonate with that based on some of their experiences personal experiences with him in that respect not only just the onfield play him rescuing the team from a really really potentially terrible situation with Carson Palmer bailing on rescuing the team and making them competitive again and giving them playoff berths but also the impact in the community in in his attitude in the community. I think a lot of people will remember that and the guy being who he is one of his last acts aside from donating a massive amount of money to a UC hospital. One of his last asked was to reach out to Joe Borough in welcome him to Cincinnati out after he was drafted by Cincinnati Bengals. That's anti dominant nutshell. The antidote narrow is over in Cincinnati. It really has been over since the end of the two thousand nineteen season. But it's officially over today and even though it may not be a surprise. It's it's an emotional day. I think for Cincinnati Bengals fans. And I think that while we can celebrate in appreciate Joe Borough coming to Cincinnati and. I think we can really believe that. This team is ready to take a step. Beyond when Andy Dalton was able to achieve with the bengals. We would be mistaken if we did not mention the JOE. Borough has immense shoes to fill at the quarterback position for the Cincinnati bengals both as a community guy and a guy on the field. I hope he's up to the task. I feel that he is based on everything we've seen and heard from Joe Borough but Amdahl legacy is is quite a positive one on the field in the locker room very well liked guy in the locker room and obviously in the Cincinnati community because of what his foundation was able to achieve. We'll see where he ends up. Hopefully he doesn't play against the bengals and make some pay but I think we all can say thank you andy for what you gave to the. Cincinnati bengals making them competitive. There were frustrating moments. There were sad moments when he got hurt and twenty fifteen on what could have been an MVP SEASON. They were ups and downs in franchise record breaking moments. But I think we can say thank you. I think we can be excited for Joe Borough to come in here and take the lead for the Cincinnati bengals knife think that we can also wishing Andy Dalton well wherever he lands and.

"Thirty one thousand five hundred ninety four passing yards two hundred four touchdowns passing touchdowns hundred eighteen interceptions another handful of rushing touchdowns as well a nimble guy and. I think we can all agree in terms of a legacy. Andy Dalton is not the most has not been the most gifted quarterback to ever grace in NFL field but he played with passion gave everything to the Cincinnati bengals and sometimes unfortunate injuries took place. I'm looking at you. Twenty fifteen season in the Pittsburgh steelers and also Cincinnati. Bengals are at fault for some of the things that you look at the back end of Andy Dalton career the six nine one seven and nine five and six to eleven to finish his career they let a roster get old they let a roster get stale they let the roster get fleeced of offensive line talent and wide receiver talent particularly in the two thousand sixteen and twenty seventeen off seasons and when you directly there is a direct correlation from the bengals wildcard loss to the steelers and that team implosion by the way and he didn't play in that game as AJ McCarron that implosion. To The free agency attrition especially along the offensive side of the ball offensive line and wide receiver. There's a direct correlation to a lack of team success and a lack of quarterback success by the Cincinnati Bengals. There's no doubt they had to go into another direction. And get Joe Borough. The number one overall pick you got excite the fan base and you gotta take what seems to be generational talent but we.

"Andy Dalton State with the Cincinnati. Bengals has been decided. And it's the outcome that we all pretty much figured was going to happen with the veteran quarterback after the selection of Joe Borough. Hey everyone I'm Anthony Costanza with the orange black insider bengals podcast also one of the Cincy jungle staff members there. Thanks for tuning in. I know it's the middle of the day for many of you but some big news is hit. The wires and franchise altering news is at the wire earlier today on Thursday. Cincinnati bengals parted ways with veteran quarterback. Andy Dalton Dalton had been with the team since twenty eleven. He was the second round. Pick toward the top of that round in two thousand eleven after the Bengals came off a terrible twenty ten campaign in reeling from Carson Palmer forcing his way out of Cincinnati. The bengals hand was forced. They didn't jump at quarterback in the first round of that draft even though there were many Christian Ponder Jake Locker Cam. Newton was already out of reach but Blaine Gabbert. Among many others were options at the bengals could have grabbed on copper. Nick was an option the bengals could have grabbed instead what they did they grab. Aj Green and they got quarterback Andy Dalton in the second round. The rest is history. There's a complicated past with Andy Dalton and the Cincinnati Bengals in their fan base. It's hard to make of the feelings. I think that a lot of fans are feeling today with the departure. Vandy Dalton. Some of it I think is expected. It's been since the season ended and the meteoric rise of Joe Borough in the college ranks his insane season in the bengals grabbing of the number one overall pick even if the bengals didn't have the number one overall pick Miami had unseated them for that in the bengals still held a top five pick. One had to assume that it was either going to be Joe Borough Justin Herbert or to attack. Oh by LOA that would end up in Cincinnati and be the heir apparent depending on which player that they took in this year's class. Maybe Andy Dalton stuck around for another year and played and started and let one of those guys develop and or he'll up if it was one of the other two names mention or it would play out the way that it's played out on Thursday were Dalton is released and Joe Borough is now the unquestioned starter for the Cincinnati Bengals. What'S NEXT FOR ANDY? Dalton is to be determined. There are some landing spots. We'll talk about that in just a second. Some perceived fits and possible avenues Randy Dalton to start and maybe some sneaky ones that nobody really is talking about but Andy Dalton is no longer with the Cincinnati bengals has seventeen plus million dollar salaries off the books and the bengals. Now have over twenty million dollars cap space. That's not with the rookie class coming in here. Not Counting that quite yet. So maybe the move paves the way for the Bengals to make another free agency. Move a waiver. Wire move to add some more talent on the books we don't know but as of now that seventeen and a half million dollar figure or so is off of the Bengal salary cap hit for twenty twenty. What's ahead for Andy? Dalton remains to be seen as I've said there are a lot of conjectures as to where he may end up. Apparently there's reports that he forced the told the Bengals to release me at As of Thursday. How substantiated that is. I don't know but it would seem that. He wants to find a place to go sooner rather than later land on his feet sooner rather than later and potentially get into a playbook system as soon as possible so he has the best opportunity to potentially grab a starting opportunity elsewhere. There are not many of those out right now and the quarterback free agent class is currently pretty deep cam. Newton's out there Joe flacco out there. Andy Dalton's out there Jameis. Winston just got a deal with the saints a backup quarterback on a very very low salaried incentive laden deal to be the backup in New Orleans. Ironically Carolina grabbed New Orleans is backup in Teddy Bridgewater to be their Guy Kyle. Alan is still there Jacksonville. Lights Gardner minhsiu Jay Gruden is there. Apparently that's reportedly the biggest hotspot for the antidote. Potentially land makes sense where he would go there. And if you would get a starting spot who knows you would think that there would be probably the best chance there. New England did not select a quarterback in this year's draft. They seem to be fine as of this moment as we sit here Thursday afternoon with jared and Brian Hoyer the bengals undoubtedly tried to deal Andy Dalton in the days and weeks leading up to the drafting into draft weekend but their hand was overplayed. They didn't really have much. Leverage in trade negotiations probably would not net much. If anything this year maybe something next year but felt the value was not there and orw potentially need to take on some of that salary cap space or salary of Andy Dalton before unloading him to another team in the in. The bengals did not want to do that so I think Andy Dalton Politely said let me let me go and try and find a place for that that I can get you as soon as possible and one that I get to pick my situation as opposed to maybe being forced in a trade so Dalton is now a free agent here are a couple of possible destinations k. We talked about Jacksonville. They have Garner men's shoe there. Jay Gruden is the offensive coordinator there so potentially that's a fit. You've got a one. Would maybe think I mean Dallas could be a spot. There's some talking heads. Apparently I have a friend in the in the Texas the state of Texas kind of in the Dallas area and some of the talking heads on radio. We're talking about Andy Dalton. Being a choice for the for the cowboys interesting is. Chicago still an option. Even though they grabbed nick foles and his gigantic salary from Jacksonville this off season bill lasers air laser worked with Dalton. Maybe I mentioned New England. New England still has question marks quarterback which is something you haven't been able to say since before drew bledsoe was there so that's a possibility I guess. What about a team like Pittsburgh? I threw this out on on twitter. What about team Pittsburgh? That'S NOT CLICK. Bait. I'm not trying to create. Click Bait by saying that but Ben Rothlisberger in sixteen. Previous seasons has played a full sixteen game season four times in sixteen years. He's the starting quarterback there is no doubt but he's coming off of a significant injury. He gets injured pretty often in the regular season. Pittsburgh's not they publicly are backing Mason. Rudolph but he was benched when he was relieving Rothlisburger last year. Maybe don doesn't go in there as the starter day wine but he is pressed into some action and winds potential opportunities to win Important Games for the steelers in relief of Rothlisburger or if he if Rothlisberger has a setback in. He can't start the season. Maybe Dalton is an avenue for them. There was talk. I had another friend in the Houston area talk about Houston potentially being interested in Andy Dalton around draft time who knows maybe Carolina just to get more insurance. If Teddy Bridgewater falters and door. They didn't the new regime doesn't like Kyle Alan Buffalo Oakland. These could be possibilities. The issue is is going to one of these places and being dead set starter. Really only one or two of those provide that opportunity some would be as emergency starter or in a major scrum to get playing time and it's an unfortunate reality. Andy Dalton has to face and and a lot of veteran quarterbacks have to face in the NFL that have had a lot of ups and some downs in their career. Joe FLACCO currently facing that. That guy won a super bowl. He can't find a job Cam. Newton went to a super bowl. Mvp number one overall pick can't find a job there. There's I said Oakland I'm sorry force of habit. Maas Vegas my apologies there. There are a number of avenues that that Dalton could see care but I think unfortunately you're going to he. He may not get the pick of the litter choice here that he's he's wanting just because of the deep free agency. Classic quarterback and a lack of opportunities there if you noticed in the draft. There was a long long. Wait beyond the first round quarterbacks for for some of these guys eason from long waits. Some people were talking. Those guys would be second round. Picks maybe third round picks and wait till middle of day middle late of day three to get off the board because many teams have now solidified their quarterback position whether it's the draft for free agency in a number of different ways unfortunately for the bengals unfortunately for Andy Dalton the way that this offseason fell at the quarterback position. The bengals didn't have a lot of leverage in terms of trade. Here we thought he would. We thought they would but maybe not. There's a lot of people saying he'll be icy John Seager in the live facebook chat. He'll be working by Monday. We receive some texts on our orange black insider. Text Line saying he's probably going to be employed by next week and Blah Blah Blah. Yeah probably could be. He could find a good situation and that's great for him. That's great for him and I I wish him the best but it could be. It could be the team's pounds quick because now they can. They have a lesser salary cap number to work with and set and contract work with. He can kind of pick his own destination and teams. Maybe didn't want to give up the draft capital this year to the Bengals so now that they don't have to get that give that up. Maybe more teams will be calling for Andy Dalton services if they weren't calling already for them one silver lining in terms of a capital gain. If you want to call that caught that for the Cincinnati bengals is in the innate potential compensatory pick. The bengals didn't have any of those this year. It's possible that the fanny don't go somewhere is productive. You know maybe they get something out of that Who knows that? Formula Truly works out He was a cut guy. So that may not come to fruition for them but who knows what we do know is a job row is the guy in Cincinnati and what we do know is that Andy Dalton is now a current current free agent in will potentially land with another team. Probably Pretty soon. It just depends on if he's going to be a starter.

"Fdic some really smart conversation there on Dak Prescott with will Cain McCain and I actually agreed on a bunch of things so at the very least that is reason enough to go. Check out the PODCAST. We'll Kane on the same page. I'm taking your take and you guys want to. Chime in on Andy Dalton. So we're going to blow up the rest of the show and let you do that. Where's Andy Dalton? Going to end up and why triple eight say. Espn eight seven nine. Three seven seven six chance in Arizona. What are you got? What's your take on Andy Dong Eh just wanted to say I'm a big fan of the show first off Thanks I believe he's GonNa go to Carolina because they I mean will greer at his stint last year and he was just not very good. So I think with bridgewater being the The starter have a veteran presence behind him because he has been kinda injury prone so I think that's a good fit for them now. I don't disagree with anything on that date. Look there's a lot of good fits. Brandy Andy Dalton. The question is where can you learn a little bit like? We've all talked about Jameis Winston but most importantly to me for Andy Dalton Working Rehab his his entire image at this point David Arizona. What's your Andy Dalton? Take Hey Jason how you doing today. Man I WANNA say originally. I'm from Cincinnati Ohio Big Fan of the bank. Of course being from there First thing I wanted to ask forget that nonsense about Andy Go. The steelers and speaking for all bengals fans like previous caller had said before about him gone steelers. We will be all but heard that ever happened. So I don't even want to hear that. Talk about that In regards to anti leaving Cincinnati. I'm not sure he's going to go exactly. But I do WANNA say man. That guy is a stolid consistent player. Not only been car solid consistent player for the city. He's been a great representative. He started foundation a number of charitable organizations and wherever he's going go they're going to get a classy dude and we'll we'll be a great loss for the city of Cincinnati and a great representative city where he wherever he went up. Well you know. That's all a glowing part of Andy Dalton right and thanks for your take on it and unfortunately for you guys I feel like the steelers make a lot of sense so this might be one of those moments that the Bengals fan base doesn't have a lot of choice on bill in Georgia. What do you got your your. Take on Andy. Hey Jason just WANNA say Big Fan appreciate you taking five but I feel like the DOT would be agreed set for the Cleveland. Browns think There's too much town team not to have a solid back In case Baker Mayfield. Another Mike did last season. The browns are an interesting take on it. I hadn't thought of it. Thanks for your take on it. Just because you're right I mean I keep saying I think the browns have more talent than we give them credit for. So you know. I'm not sure though. The quarterback position and Baker Mayfield should at least in theory be more locked up than it is for Pittsburgh so I still think I like going to the steelers. There's a backup better than going to the browns back of Alex in Texas. What do you got? What's your take on Andy? Jason All these guys. The spillers Brown's the dolphins. This doesn't make sense man. I'm here in Dallas Fort Worth. I'm in Grapevine. Texas the best situation for the cowboys would be the bringing Abbey. He's not you've got. He's a local guy. You'll get a lot of shining a lot of love and you need to push Dak Prescott to the table. You need to let him know that the bachelor that's here now who we would therefore it in it's going to be upgraded and now you need to come to the table with the deal. We want you to have your Andy Dalton. You're in area again where you came from. Tc You you know you're GonNa get love and you might a real opportunity of that. I I hold out and people won't be pushing back on you like in these other markets. Everybody's bringing up so that's press out of your table by any coming into the fold and upgrade. Its backup position. I see a win win there for both parties involved other than that. Prescott as a third party. His worst he made out of his own offense. Look I love the fire on that take? I'll say this. I never thought about the hold on his opportunity. And if we do believe there's GonNa be a hold out. It's a good opportunity for Andy Dalton to get out and show what he can do with as I said earlier a roster I think is super bowl caliber so you got a lot of weapons on the offensive side of the ball for or Cam Newton. We'll see this again cam. Newton's a better quarterback than Andy Dalton. We all know that and I understand that Andy Dalton might not be a world beater too many people. But let's acknowledge the good of Andy Dalton when you're talking about five playoff appearances for the Cincinnati Bengals. Keep in mind. Philip rivers only took the chargers to the playoffs six times. Andy Dalton took the Bengals to the playoffs. Five I'm not saying Andy. Dalton is a world beater. But when you take the Bengals to five playoff appearances and you make three pro bowls. You're not the trash quarterback that everyone's making him sound like he is right now. Let's accept the fact that some quarterbacks in the middle of the pack might not be great they might not be Patrick Mahomes. They might not be Aaron Rodgers. But they're still good enough to win you games. That's Andy Dalton. Don't let the bengals portion of Andy Dalton. Jj on who? He is as quarterback. More coming up what what's next for. Andy Dalton will cain. They'll be talking about it. Thanks for listening to I. Take Your take. I'm Jason Fitz..

"By Jalen and Jacoby immediately following the broadcast presented by state farm in. At and T. available wherever you enjoy your podcast. You don't WanNa miss that. They do a great job of getting updated on. I want your take. Where's Andy Dalton? Headed and why. Let's go to Johnny in Ohio. Johnny what's your take on the next. Stop for Andy. I'd say it goes to Jacksonville. They got a J office coordinator formerly of Cincinnati and I think he's got a shot. That gun instances starting to look I. That's actually a smart Jay Gruden of anybody that doesn't always with Andy Dalton and Cincinnati and now Jay Gruden is the offense coordinator in Jacksonville. You guys can chime in triple eight say. Espn eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven seven six if Jacksonville makes no attempt to Dan Dalton and they are sending us a clear message and that clear messages that they are ready to tank for trevor. Trevor Lawrence is likely to be the first pick overall in the draft next year. Barring anything catastrophic like we saw this year. God forbid right. Trevor Lawrence is likely to be the first pick out of Clemson. Here's somebody that frankly would have been. The top quarterback picked the last couple of years if he had the ability to come out. People have been infatuated. Trevor Lords. If the JAGS make no attempt. Andy Dalton or Cam Newton if they go in with an uncontested Gardner Menchu as their starting quarterback. What are they telling you? They're telling you flat out that they are ready to tank. They're ready to stink and they're ready to take whatever comes with it. You know you have to look at it from the standpoint. What did they have to lose from taking? I mean the fan base is already irritated at best with the team right. So if you know that you're going to get very little equity outside of the sort of commercial small that you get from minhsiu mania outside of that. What would really make the jags relevant? What would really make the jags relevant not just in Jacksonville but also in London when they play over there. I don't know how about having the topic in the draft superstar quarterback coming out of the gates the type of quarterback that you can sell season tickets for the message that the JAGS are sending if Andy Dalton has not at least reached out to then the. Jags are telling you quite clearly that they're really ready to phone it in and that tells me. Janaka who's been vocal about wanting to trade. We'll finally get it and the JAGS will go all in one mission. Losing Games as often as possible. I want more your take. What's next for Andy Dalton Philly? Sorry Mike in Florida Mike. What do you got for Andy Dong? Hey Big Fan of the show by the way thanks. I think I think he's going to the steelers. I think that with Rothlisberger. Getting hurt as much as he does I think Dalton would be a nice backup spot on the steelers fan myself. And I really don't believe in Rudolph and I don't believe in in Hajjah. I think that Rothlisberger can stay. Healthy is a really dynamic quarterback but as a backup spot. I think it's not a bad choice. Look at everything you just said makes a of sense. It's flat out irresponsible for the Pittsburgh steelers to go into this season at quarterback with only big Ben in the options they had last year. I will say it again. The steelers almost made the playoffs with hot garbage at quarterback. Right we all accept that. The steelers had terrible quarterback play and they almost made the playoffs. When you start to think about almost making the playoffs with the quarterbacks they had and then an expanded playoff world they would have been the seven seat there are. There's an extra team this year. This dealers have a legit chance of being a playoff team and it all hinges on a surgically repaired Ben Rothlisberger that. We haven't gotten to see anything from you. I mean how could they possibly I mart organization not consider the future quarterback or at least protecting themselves protection? How much would Andy Dalton cost? Whatever it is. It's worth it because we know that those contracts aren't high and we know that. Andy Dalton will get the opportunity to sit in Pittsburgh. If he's not starting who cares he's not going to get faulted for because frankly he won't get fault divorce sitting behind. Ben Nobody would fault them for that but if he does start if he gets them opportunity he'd have tremendous weapons around that has value to me. The weapons around him would give him the opportunity to show people that he can still play. I want more your take on. Andy Dalton triple eight say ESPN eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven six plus. We'll Jameis Winston get another chance to be a starting quarterback in the NFL..

"I'm willing to listen to you in the meantime. He's not the only quarterback in the news as the chatter continues around Aaron Rodgers. Brett Farr talked about Aaron Rodgers when he went on the rich. Eisen show on Sirius. Xm and made it clear that he doesn't believe Rogers is going to be finishing his career in Green Bay. I think you'll see that trend more and more and I think you're and finished somewhere else. That's my gut. I guarantee you this and I. I don't know for certain but I guarantee you. It's got the wheels turning and errands mind. Which if that's the case. Then that means the. There's a chip on his shoulder for the organization that otherwise was not there. I love all of that. By the way guarantee. Can't say for certain but I guarantee you and yeah. There's a chip. There's a chip on his shoulder. The question is what's it mean moving forward and at this point given the statements by Brett Farve. No one would know better what it's like to have this happens. Steven A. Ryan Clark. Imacs talked about farve weighing in on Aaron Rodgers. I don't think sticking up for farther your is going against Rogers I think far as through experience better insight into this situation is more interesting to hear from than anyone else in the world who understand this better and I think he's also right. I don't think Aaron Rodgers is going to finish his career and a Green Bay uniform just as far didn't hey one hundred percent Ed Hale Brett. Farr is the person you call for this. They should have been Reagan. His phone wind degree. Bay Packer Jordan. Look it didn't matter what they did for the rest of the draft. This is it. This is the story. It was the same story. When Aaron Rodgers failed to the Green Bay packers after Alex Smith when number one overall to the San Francisco Forty niners? And you don't have to ask dude about a situation because he did it right. It's almost better to ask him because he did it wrong. Or because it was perceived as wrong. I want to hear that you that you were upset. I want to hear that it caused confusion between you and the GM between you and the head coach and fear he's GonNa figure his career somewhere else. It also seems like they've had some conversation so Brett Farve is the perfect guy and I don't care if you don't bring up what he did in the past because it really does it matter now. What matters is you were in this position? You have an in helmet and first hand perspective of how you felt during this time how you handle it you also know the dude very well who is going through it now. So who else would you ask? I mean the reason that we get former players to be analyst reason. Analysts is because y'all WanNa hear what it was like in the Locker Room. You want to hear what it was like on the field. What are these experiences? And how do these experiences affect now? Who Do they make you? How did you deal with them? Brett farve could tell us about that more than anybody and did he stink when he was going through it absolutely was the little overrated when he left absolutely which Aaron Rodgers probably will be too but he can give us a perspective on this that we can't get anywhere else issue. It's just always good to have hall of Famers Talk Any Dang Ryan Clark. I'm GONNA forgive you because you were an elite football player. Who as far as I'm concerned pets turned into an elite? Nfl commentator. I don't ever recall the word journalists being on your resume that would be me Sir so let me inform you about something. We did talking talking talking about reform. Let's let's let's understand. Let's understand that and I'm aiming this to at you as well. Max I never said. Don't talk to Brett Farve. Let's let's let's address the question that was presented problem with. Fav Win in Yes. I'm not saying that I don't want to hear what Brett Farve has to say. I'm saying that while you're asking Brett Farve to weigh in on this particular situation. Let's remind the world. He's he's the perfect. That's what I'm saying. What I'm saying. You aren't clock is. Let's not just ask him questions about or Aaron Ross and the Green Bay packers because he was in that position any place for that same team. Let's also make sure we bring the relevancy to the equation because literally the reason why this story is because we're all monitoring how is Aaron Rodgers going to act because the Green Bay packers drafted its successor when Nebraska has got to three years left in this career? You didn't get him any help. You drafted him in two thousand five. You have never drafted another off. That's a play a running back and tight end and wide receiver in the first round since two thousand five when you're drafted and Rogers Soy. He how is he going to react all of it? Well Brett fog with no because just as what? Brett fog did that's what I'm saying. Agreed Banks steps off with and this is what he did when he was in that position. It's important to take being radio. Espn news I'm Jason Fitz. They're fired up about all things. Aaron Rodgers we're fired up here about all things. Andy Dalton. I might be the only show that can say that in the history of radio. So we're GONNA go with triple eight eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven seven six. What's your your take on. Andy Dalton. Where's it going to end up in? Why Patrick in California? What's your take on Dalton? Yeah I think Tennessee might be a good landing spot for him. But I mean in general the fact that Cam Newton is on the free market. Also I think helps Andy. Because there's a number of teams out there. They want upgraded the quarterback position but might not want to spend Cam Newton kind of money. And I think we're all agreed that Cam Newton's better quarterback than any don't so you can get Andy Dalton for less money and I think that is an advantage damn and getting signed by somebody. I'll take your take on that. I think this is the one pushback is I. Don't think it's going to be looking at anything. I disagreed with Mike. Golic senior this morning by the way I'm hanging out on Golic and Wingo again tomorrow morning so be sure to check it out but I disagreed with my golick this morning I think is GonNa take a backup opportunity. I don't know that Andy Dalton other than New England would have much chance for anything other than backup opportunity at least short-term came. I don't think he's touching the backup situation so I wonder if the two are kind of living in different lanes right now. Jonathan Colorado. What are you got? What's your take on it? Hey Man I'm a huge dolphins fan so I'm super happy that we got to but since he's hurt I feel like that would be a perfect spot for all the land. He'll be there for a year and get a free agency stock And then he'll you have a really big opportunity to go anywhere you want after that. Look I I love that. Frankly Jonathan on top of my the dolphins. I'll look it up. But we all know. Obviously that Ryan Fitzpatrick is there. And they're comfortable with Ryan Fitzpatrick but let's not get twisted. Andy Dalton is a significant upgrade over Ryan Fitzpatrick. I don't think that's a hot. Take any Dalton's a significant upgrade in my mind over Jarrett Stidham and we all know that. That's where the Patriots seemed to be in at this point. They seem to be locked into jeered stabbed him but in a world where we just saw James Winston. Take a million dollars to get to a situation. He likes we've no idea with Andy. Dalton IS GONNA WANT. But if he wants to go somewhere where you can have a starting opportunity holding down the Fort for Miami while to gets healthy. If he's not completely healthy is not the worst situation for him. I think he can look at that as a good spot for him to land. We'll keep taking your take on her. Triple eight say. Espn eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven seven six. Andy Dalton hit the open market. I'm fired up about it again. I'll say this loud. I'm not saying that. Andy Dalton is an epic quarterback. I'm saying that. He's a pretty good quarterback and being a pretty good quarterback is better than many teams have. So well understand. He's likely to find himself in a backup situation. I don't think it's out of the question to look at some of these quarterbacks around the League in Question. Y If you're Jacksonville you're not bringing in somebody like Andy Dalton to compete with Gardner means you out of gate. Are you really willing to give everything over to Gartner Mint you? I mean you're not even gonNA look at Andy Dalton if I'm the Broncos and I've spent all of this capital in the draft on getting great weapons around drew lock. Is it not worth at least exploring who? Andy Dalton is a quarterback to me it is. I want your take on triple eight say. Espn you can also tweet me at Jason Fitz coming up if the NBA returns to finish their season. "End up and why I can guarantee you one thing I can guarantee you one thing over the course of the last ten hours. Nobody has been more fired up about Andy Dalton than I was to start the show. Good Lord okay fired up about it I want your take on. What's going to happen next for Andy Dalton Jesse in Cincinnati Jesse chime in Andy? Dalton what's your take. Oh Yeah so. I think he'd be a good New England just for the system that they like to run But you can't expect too much out. Andy Dalton let's everything's perfect around him ever since you know we lost Jones's to new and I it hasn't been the same and the defense is fell off and obviously the franchise doesn't help them signing any three agents. I go anywhere with. Let me let me stick with me. Don't go away but let me counter that argument. You just mentioned the offensive line's bad. There's no weapons to tide them. Fell off so what quarterbacks outside of the top. Let's say six quarterbacks in the NFL quarterback do you think could come in and suddenly elevate what Andy Dalton was playing with and make them a playoff team? So you bring in cam new. I mean there's somebody in create on their own. What is down there Carolina well and look. I wouldn't be opposed to the bengals bringing in somebody like Cam Newton fine but my bigger point to this is everything that's been laid out right then and thanks for your take on everything you just laid out about. The bengals is part of the reason that most quarterbacks couldn't win in Cincinnati There are a handful of quarterbacks that can overcome whatever's around them and win no matter the system and no matter the weapons. There are a handful. Guess what if your litmus test for your quarterbacks ability ranks amongst the Patrick mahomes in Aaron Rodgers. You are probably losing that battle constantly. Most teams don't have that at quarterback in fact most teams are hopeful to get Ryan Tannehill. Somebody that can go and get the job done but still has to be in the right situation. The right elements be around them and when that happens suddenly Tannahill goes from being a bust in Miami to being some huge success in getting paid in Tennessee. Why because the system was better for him because he got healthy and because he had the right pieces around him. Most quarterbacks need help and a quarterback needing help doesn't mean that they stink. It just means that they're not one of the best five in the league. That's okay don't forget tune into the last dance behind the scenes. Look at the nineties bowls dynasty the series continues this Sunday nine pm Eastern on. Espn can't wait for this. When we'RE GONNA get a look behind the curtain of Horace Grant always curious about how that went down..

"Espn fifteen thirty in Cincinnati. You mentioned Jacksonville. A lot of people have made a lot of Jay Gruden now the offensive coordinator there and obviously was a head coach for the bengals during Andy. Dalton's tenure so when you look at Jay Gruden specifically. What was their relationship like really. Really good Jason a nice job with you know you remember. Andy's first season was the walkout year. So that environment here was so bad because you had Carson Palmer telling the Bengals I don't WanNa play for you anymore That was the all season where. Espn the magazine ranks them. As the worst franchise sports They brought back Marvin Lewis at the end of a disastrous year. In two thousand ten. It was chaos here and they drafted Andy Dalton in round two That was picked at a lot of people. Didn't want them to make because they wanted to take a quarterback in the first round. And then you add to it. The the basically the non off season the short window to get a rookie quarterback ready all while the possibility of Carson coming back looming over. Everything and Jay did a really nice job of of getting Andy. Ready to play started week one and then went to the playoffs that year in jail. The offense coordinator for for these first three seasons. I tend to think that what they did with. Hugh Jackson was a little bit better because anti had his best. You're under hugh but that's also when they had their best talent. Yeah J. Crew did a nice job here and and certainly if I'm Andy. I'm looking for people that I've worked with before people that I've looked at that I've had success with before Jake route and would certainly be on that list as what Tyler Lifer who is a tight end who signed with the Jaguars and this off season. Who had a great year Playing playing with Andy in two thousand fifteen. I think that makes a Lotta Sense. Just because I feel like if I- Andy I'm going to be working with my former offensive coordinator and my competition for the job is governor minhsiu. I feel pretty good about that if I was him talking about. Mo Egger. Espn fifteen thirty in Cincinnati. I can take on ESPN radio. I'm Jason Fitz so mo one more for you here as you look at the landscape that we're in right now in pandemic and obviously it means there's not as much opportunity for guys to get on the field. We don't know what the off season is GonNa look like any surprise given those restrictions. They decided to move on from Andy Dalton instead of just giving him at least the off season to allow borough more time no because of the salary Andy's number against the cat. This year was going to be seventeen. Point seven million. And there's there's a lot of good arguments that you could make for Andy being here and and even in a normal offseason a normal set of circumstances would he be a willing mentor to Joe. Borough absolutely I don't think anybody who's ever watched Andy Dalton and been around Andy Dalton would would deny that and then you add to it. You know we don't know what training camps going to look like. Is there going to be a free season? Would it be nice to have an insurance policy? Yes the issue was the seventeen and a half million dollars. Hey they just have more things to spend that money on. They've got assigned draft choices. I think they like to restructure some contracts. What are they? GonNa do specifically with. Aj Green Long-term. Joe mixon other players on the roster so I think if Andy Dalton salary was half of what it was. There's a decent chance you know he would still be here. I think the in some floated out that. Well you ask Andy to take a pay cut. I don't know who in their right mind would say yesterday that I know if somebody took my job and I got a front row seat for watching them do my job. I'm GonNa want what's owed to me. So that idea was never plausible. But I I do think it's going to be interesting The other quarterbacks on their roster have a combined free starts between them I do think it'd be interesting as we get closer to figuring out what this what training camp is. GonNa look like to see if they do bring in a veteran guy but it it it had less to do with India being a viable option to be a starter in an emergency or a mentor. And I think you love those things. You're just not willing to pay seventeen and a half million dollars for them. You can follow him on twitter at fifteen thirty. Check about fifteen thirty. Espn CINCINNATI MOAS. Always we appreciate your time. Thanks for the insight anytime Jason. Thanks you know. I'm both sweet and salty about this if you love nature valley sweet and salty bars. You'll love the sweet and salty. Minis is all of the indulgence saved goodness you know now in a smaller size and at one hundred calories snacking has never been so sweet. I want your take on where Andy. Dalton's headed eight eight eight seven two nine three seven six Jeremy in Pennsylvania. What's your take on Dalton? So I think people often forget that in two thousand fifteen when Andy but for that. Oh and broke. His thumb and ancient McCarron started the first game of the Super Bowl or the first game of the playoffs there that he was legitimate. Mvp candidate Andy. Dalton was having a very very good season. It's four straight years and in general he had four straight years where he had ten plus wins as a starter. I'm not trying to sing the praise the Mandy Dawn. I'm not saying that the guy was a leak or anything like that but any don't is a very very serviceable quarterback and if you give me a system type team like the Patriots. I'll take Andy Dalton over Cam Newton any day of the week Cam. Newton is not your type of system type quarterback. He's the guy that wants to go out there and make his own place and be the best athletes on the field. That's not what I personally would think that that bill belichick would be looking for he would be looking for more. Andy Dalton type guy a system type guy. That's going to go in there and Meld with what they're doing not with what he wants to do. Appreciate your take on it. I don't disagree in many ways. I'll say this. I think cam is a better quarterback cam more talented player. I think we all know that the health issue for cameras the one that makes it difficult because when you can't check them out how do you know where he is not just with the most recent but after years of surgery? Maybe I've picked a weird hill to die on as an NFL fan. And there's somebody that works in this business and that hill is on. I think the word you used there. Jimmy was serviceable. Maybe I'm on the hill of defending serviceable quarterbacks. We suddenly take serviceable. And we lump that into the category of stink they're very different things serviceable can win you games serviceable may need help but can actually come in start and not let your team down serviceable. In and of itself is a skill. Does it make you Aaron Rodgers? No and we'll ever fought the bengals for taking the leap on. Joe Borough no because Joe Borough looks like he could have that sort of epoch superstar level. I'm not saying did andy. Dalton is a superstar saying belittle serviceable to the point that we make serviceable bat. I'm not willing to do that if you WANNA see bad quarterback play. There's been plenty of that in the NFL. And I'm sorry bad quarterback play. Moving forward doesn't look like what Andy Dalton has been able to do at some point although Andy Dalton deserves some blame for where the bengals are. Don't the Bengals as an organization deserve their own blame for where they've gotten themselves in this situation and that's why I continue to look at them as part of the problem and part of why we have to consider that when evaluating Andy Dalton moving forward? I want more your take. Where's Andy Dalton? Going to end up in wide triple eight say. Espn you can chime in on twitter. Also at Jason Fitz are you can call eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven seven six. We'll get more your take bus. Will Aaron Rodgers finished his career somewhere other than Green Bay? One Hall of Famer might have a pretty good idea and he said yes. You'll hear from him and the first eight crew next but I like you can't believe everything on social media these days..

"Fitz we're talking to will cain of the Wilkin show which you can check out right after we're done today in every single day so let's switch gears a little bit stick with the cowboys though. I'm not saying this 'cause you're on with me. I'd say this either way. Cd LAMB is going to be dynamic and incredible for the cowboys. So what was your level of tickertape parade that you were willing to throw after the draft. Well that's big coming from you. I know because you have a long history of doubting Dallas cowboy receivers. You're not that plenty hallway conversations about Amari Cooper and. I think I've won. Most of those time has twenty. I CD lamb. I am so excited about man that's going to the store and buying a luxury item not a necessity in. Sometimes you need to treat yourself you know. Sometimes you need to go ahead and double down on a strength and I like it. I just don't know how defense is Gonna. Stop the cowboys offense. It's going to be team. Forty Burger there might be some defensive issues but let's see if you can put up enough to keep up with the cowboys and everybody says Oh. You need a defensive back. You need somebody that edge rush. Your offense was already number one in the league. How much better could you get? I give you the Kansas City chiefs. I give you a team that continuously double down on offense and I know made some adjustments and made some moves to make their defense better during the super bowl year but make no mistake. It was a team built on. We can't have enough offense and it did work out for him before everybody gets Superman and before you try to make it a rebuttal. Jason. I'm not saying is Patrick Mahomes but I am saying this is a dynamic offense in Dallas. Good luck keeping up with the points they score will. I'm actually not going to be a contrarian this time for once I mean I think if you just look at that roster on paper top to bottom and you gave most GM's in the in the NFL. The opportunity to train their entire roster for the cowboys entire roster. The cowboys would win that. They have a better roster than most teams. I think it's fair to say that if you are a cowboys fan right now. Listening to the show you believe that. The Liability was coaching. If they've fixed that liabilities should the expectation not be a super bowl? I think the cowboys are being undersold as a super bowl contender this year. Thank you I feel the same way. The thing has been holding. The cowboys back is without a doubt coaching. That front office has been good by the way. And I don't think fully recognized for how good it's been in free agency in the trademark and in the draft it has been simply the Jason Garrett head coaching staff in tenure. That has held the cowboys back. I don't know if Mike McCarthy is the guy to push them over the Hump I think he might be. I hope he might be and I know he has. Everything is disposal to be that guy. We're talking to Kane Kane show so let me switch gears again. The big news today. Andy Dalton no longer with the bengals. I don't know if that's a huge shock to most people will. But it's got me fired up because I feel like we lumped Andy Dalton into the category of liability at quarterback. I'm not willing to do that. So what do you think the next best step is for? Andy Dalton I'm with you I'm all into value investing. I read books about Warren Buffett. I love his approach to the stock market into business. I love the idea of buying low and selling high and when the crowd thinks a certain thing there must be value in the other direction. And I think Andy Dalton is undervalued. I'm not telling you. He's a top ten quarterback in the NFL. But we treat him as though he's not even worthy of start and that's not true. Andy Dalton is better than that. And he's better than some starting quarterbacks out there. Now here's the thing Jason. I'm sure you agree on this. So it was Cam Newton and so was Jameis Winston that didn't guarantee them starting jobs in the NFL. And I love love. Love Love. What James chose to do? I think James showed belief in himself an investment in himself and I think James will come out of this next year of education. A Harvard Education and quarterback plays he described it with a market ready to pay him real money. I think James will be. Somebody's franchise quarterback one year from now not just starter but franchise quarterback. I think this year. Andy Dalton makes almost too much since two patriots. It just I think Andy Dalton. I can't say this for a fact I don't know him. Maybe you've met him. Jason I have not but from a distance he seems like a guy who has the one trait that a bill belichick quarterback would need to have and that is humility. You gotta be able to sit in a film room. You gotTA BE ABLE TO TAKE CRAP. You gotTa have the total destruction of your game on video in front of the entire team in order to make everyone better. I kind of think any John can be that guy and be a competent quarterback which you add those things together and that has to win in New England. I love it. We'll we'll I can't believe this. We just agreed on basically everything. This is a moment if we were in the same hallway right now. We would hug for a very long time but unfortunately we can't do that. So thank you so much for this. I'm checking out the show coming after us as always will you're the best man. Love it man. Thank you look at. That will cain and I agreeing on almost everything he's right. We've had our fair share of heated debates about particular wide receivers. But all of this Andy Dalton conversation comes back and and I think we'll just set it smartly. Humility matters at this what we're going to get a real sense of direction for the Patriots. We already got a sense of direction for the Patriots in the NFL draft. But I would challenge this when you look at the Patriots in the NFL draft. One thing that's important to keep in mind is that they were judging second tier quarterbacks against Jarrett Stidham now Jarret Stidham at one point was expected to be great for Auburn. That didn't necessarily happen as last year. There there's a lot of reasons for that they have. Jared stood him in the room there around him all the time they are comfortable with Jarrett. Stidham is also being asked to evaluate Jarret stidham against players. That are not ready to start me in a vote right now. They were asked to judged against the Jordan. Loves JALEN HURTS OF THE JACOB? Jake froms you're asking to judge somebody that they have in the building versus the if come the possibility that somebody that's not great but could be okay is a better solution. I can easily compartmentalize in my mind. Why the Patriots didn't look at that as a great situation. This is much different. You have something with Andy Dalton that I personally value you have perfect concept. Talk about it all the time. Proof of concept matters when you talk about the quarterback position particularly and I'm sorry as much as Bengals fans WANNA make it out. That he's awful. Let's remember taking Cincinnati to the playoffs. Five Times is something winning when you have the right weapons around you is what most NFL quarterbacks tried to do. Andy Dalton has had success in the NFL and he's had it at a pretty good level. That in and of itself is playoff concept proof of concept for somebody. That has three pro bowls and five playoff appearances out of Cincinnati. That is better than what we've seen from Jarrett Stidham. We'll find out now. How confident the Patriots truly are in their quarterback room? I'm confident and you guys..

"Straighttalk DOT com. So the question is who is Andy? Dalton at this point and at this point is a better solution for any team including the Patriots. Then I don't know one Cam Newton Ryan Clark joined Maxim Stephen Age. They're talking about Andy Dalton and where he fits in the spectrum of quarterbacks available on the open market there is nobody that has ever watched football that has seen Cam Newton healthy and thought that Andy Dalton was a better quarterback Cam Newton. We can point to system all we want the Patriot way. Jarrett's them and what have you. And the fact that he was there for a year under their belt and all that stuff Ryan Clock. You brought this up on. Get up this morning You know the few minutes that I had an opportunity to watch it. When you highlighted how Jarret stidham comes in and he throws a pick six to Jamal Adams of the New York jets and then immediately got yanked out of there by Bill Belichick but Josh. Mcdaniels confident to them. They think he's improve well. None of those are game situations because we haven't seen them throw the ball but about four times on a professional level of so i. I'm not sold on stem yet. Obviously if you WanNa go to route of Dalton it would be because he fits more into the Patriot way. But here's my thing. How do we know really? There's a Patriot. Way when it comes to their offense when you look at. Tom Brady and how elite we gotta make a decision as to whether or not he was great. Oil was he. Not because of Tom Brady was great. Maybe maybe this success was a product of his greatness on the offensive side of the ball along with its chemistry. Whether it be Charlie Charlie Weis once upon a time bill. O'brien once upon a time Josh. Mcdaniels for the last decade or so the bottom line is there's been a multitude of people that Tom Brady has worked with on the offensive side of the ball. And he's been and he's been obviously elite. I think if you're looking at it from that perspective who has the chance of being leaked? I say it would be Cam Newton over Andy Dalton. And Jared my choices Cam Newton as well because I believe if you bring ending dotes in in at this time in his career. He might not necessarily be that much of an upgrade over. Jarrett Stidham and Brian. Hoyer who you already have your quarterback room but if you ring in Cam Newton you bring in something different you bring in a guy who can create own his own and that's what you need it on this team last year. You didn't have the wide receivers who couldn't create separation initially in their routes. What Will Cam Newton give them an opportunity to do? Get into second play situation where they can get into scrammed boudreau separate from other defenders and also now this edge to your run game when you have a guy like James White when you have a guy like Sony Michelle you add them with Cam Newton. Now you can get into some zone. Read type schemes. Because you don't necessarily have the talent on the outside. No if you think Jarrett Stidham is your guy and that's who you WANNA go with. I believe you could stand there. But if you're going to go out on the free agent market and get you a quarterback that guy has to be Cam Newton. You have to add something dynamic to this offense you have to have someone with the confidence to carry you and also remember. The next guy is replacing. The greatest quarterback of all time and Tom Brady that will be immense pressure pressure. That Cam Newton his head to live up to his whole entire career. He's the guy for this job. I believe that he can handle the coaching. Also think he has something to prove. And when you mix that with what the Patriots do already which is going to be played. Great Defense be coached extremely well and be extremely disciplined. It only helps Cam Newton and have Cam Newton would only is that I do think is deficient island players. And so if you could do those things combined those that makes sense to me. I think that Cam Newton is going to make a lot of people. Sorry that they didn't sign him up sooner. Cam Newton when last seen was as good or better than he'd ever been. He was once as I said selected by acclamation. He was the number one player in football. So I do think that there's left as long as the injury is not a recurring issue. There's going to be plenty there still. Relatively young people talk about the beating. He's taken. That's true but that'll shorten the shelf life to thirty five thirty six. Probably not some forty. Which is how quarterback split until quarterbacks played thirty eight forty nowadays to like thirty one. Thirty two okay. Fine write you make a good point if you're going to go out looking anyway. How do we know Dalton's even an upgrade overstep? We don't maybe they're happy with stuff. Look at either one but when you look at what can and can't do he's not GonNa get you. Big Chunk plays off of play action right like that was the issue in Cincinnati but that's not really the Patriots but what he can do is make quick reads. Get the ball out quick. On Intermediate passes that is the Patriots so unless bellichik really goes completely new way with the way. He wants to run his office which is amazing. Kind of chameleon. Act that toward the end of his career. Belgium's coaching career. Unless he does that. Adult and much more fits the type that the Patriots seem to prefer. I take your take on ESPN news. I'm Jason Fitz. I don't understand what is going wrong with the entire world when we look at. Andy Dalton. I mean I understand Andy. Dalton is not a spectacular quarterback. I understand he's not a world beater but we're looking at New England and we're giving Bill Belichick all of the credit for everything that's ever happened. That's good. They're suddenly with the benefit of the doubt he gets. And then we're turning around and conversely blaming Andy Dalton for everything that's gone wrong in Cincinnati. Let me remind you he leaves. The bengals is the all time leader in passing touchdown. Second in passing yards most fourth quarter comebacks and game. Winning drives three proble knots. Three pro bowl nod for a bengals quarterback any doug him out of the dumpster. Five playoff appearances. That's all from field. Yates five playoff appearances in three pro bowl runs for a quarterback in Cincinnati. Is something worth writing home about? I understand that Andy. Dalton's not spectacular but for Ryan Clark to imply that Brian Hoyer Jarret stidham would be a better quarterback room than Andy Dalton. That makes no sense. Jarret Stidham is a fourth round quarterback if anybody if anybody so that level of production coming from Jarrett Stidham he never makes it to the fourth round. Because you don't let a three time pro bowl quarterback dipped to the fourth round. That's insane Brian. Hoyer couldn't beat out Andy Dalton on the open market for a starting job it. Brian Hoyer was your quarterback room with jared Steinem on any team not named New England. We would surely believe that. Andy Dalton was a better quarterback option. I'm not saying that. We have to turn around and acknowledge the Andy Dalton Dalton his greatness in a bottle but to suddenly turn around and act like he's a liability versus unknown or known quarterbacks. That aren't any good is absolutely insulting. To what Andy Dalton has accomplished. It's okay to say that he's not great but let's not make him trash. I take your take on ESPN radio. I'm Jason Fitz fired up about that. Presented by progressive is home insurance. Get your quote Ed. Progressive Dot Com. Today you guys can chime in. Where do you think Andy Dalton is going to end up triple eight say? Espn eight nine. Three seven seven six. Let's get a little insight on this from Cincinnati Moa my buddy from ESPN fifteen thirty joins me. Mo. You just heard me going off about it. Who is Andy Dalton in your mind to most? Nfl Franchises as a quarterback right now. I love the impassioned Defensive Andy Dalton where where you've been for the past nine years I know I'm watching. Go ahead I was GONNA say I. I think it's I think that's the interesting part of this. We've we've known I've said a couple of times today. We've known this was coming for about a year. I mean if you if you kind of watch. The way off season played out before last season. You know Andy went into the second. The last year of his contract when the subject was brought up of a contract extension the owner of the team. Mike Brown said he has to reestablish himself which okay I get that I don't disagree but if he's got to reestablish himself you gotta give them a chance and the bengals didn't make their team any better last off season then they lose their left tackle then they lose. Aj Green. I think at that point we kind of knew how last season was gonNA play out and then we knew what the fallout was going to be. Which was the Bengals? Go in a different direction at quarterback At the beginning of this off season I think you could also see how this was going to end because we were on the verge of this unprecedented amount of quarterback activity involving guys who are either better than Andy. Dalton have more upside than Andy Dalton are cheaper than Andy Dalton or that you could acquire without having to trade for Andy Dalton so the emotional emotionally jarring part of this. You know this this would have been. I think a little bit different. Had this been sudden. We've we've kind of seen this coming for a while. So what's the next best opera? Andy you know. A lot of people have talked about New England and I I certainly get. Why Andy as a safe pick At the same time for me the Patriots have always been a team. Were they wager on talent? They wager on upside. They're willing to set aside any red flags you know. This is the team that will take a chance on Antonio Brown. It'll take a chance on Josh Gordon team. That will bring somebody heck. We've we've seen it with guys here in Cincinnati that you're like okay. How was Corey Dillon? Or Chad Johnson going to affect that locker room and it turns out that you know in some cases like Corey Dillon. It works out great. Some cases like Chad Johnson. It doesn't screw up their locker room but it really doesn't work out all that well with Andy. You know what you're getting. You're not getting that much. And frankly they really have an address their biggest issue in New England which is guys to throw to so if he goes to New England. We kind of know what that looks like right. He's going to be fine. He's not gonNA be Great. Their talents not great. His talents not great. So there's a part of me that wonders doesn't just make more sense to Kinda gamble with the unknown because maybe with the unknown. There's a little bit more upside but if it's not New England you know. Does he get a shot in Jacksonville? I've sort of thrown out there that it might make sense. If I'm a Pittsburgh steeler fan. What better way to stick it to the Bengals then Dalton backs up. Ben Rothlisberger are we. Are we betting on him? Playing Sixteen Games is Dalton. A better option to back him up and Rudolph or duck. Hodges or anybody else they have. I tend to think that Andy's going to surface somewhere as a backup. But the New England thing until you figure out exactly what their quarterback plan is. I guess has to be something that we all consider and talk about. We're talking to Mo Egger..
