The Patriots' Quarterback Question

"Mike how're you holding up Nina? We're doing great. We're healthy. I hope the same for you and all our listeners. Mike Reese covers the New England patriots for ESPN. Well Patriots. Have a lot of questions. So we're GONNA get to that. Actually I think everybody does about the England Patriots. Right now to me. I think they're the most interesting team in the NFL. At the moment I love it and you know a lot of people ask me like how do you feel about covering the Patriots? Now that Tom Brady isn't there and I said well you know that part is not the greatest feeling but when you think about compelling storylines what could be more compelling than what we're going into here which is how are they going to replace arguably the greatest quarterback of all time and that is what we're going to discuss so mike it is early. May and there is still a very long way to go until the regular season begins and obviously there are questions about that. But at this moment the two quarterbacks on the Patriots depth chart our Jarret Stidham the Auburn quarterback who New England drafted in the fourth round in two thousand nineteen and journeyman backup Brian. Hoyer for months. There's been speculation about whether they would draft someone. They did not whether they would sign juice. Winston or Andy Dalton did not so. Let's start here is Jarrett. Stidham the guy at the moment. Well there's no question minute. It's his job to lose. I would say the Patriots aren't GonNa say Jarret Stidham the guy because they don't want to put more pressure on him then is already

"Biggest questions of what's going on right now. I can't be go scores and not do things that we have to be crush. Adult discretion is advised but seriously kids of all ages are welcome. Even you grown up. Kids come was the island on spotify or wherever you listen to today explained back ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ma so last thing because I really WANNA rank Andy Dalton's worth to the cowboys but I think I think every cowboys fan should hope that antidote does play under the right circumstances in twenty twenty. Obviously you don't want to see him play. You know because something happened to Dak Prescott but I think what you want if you're a cowboys. Fan is further cowboys to lock up the number one seed or to be blowing people out in for Andy to come in because Andy Dalton is on a one year deal. What what you really want is Antidote Dalton to show the rest of the NFL. Hey guess our I've still got it and then come two thousand twenty one. Have somebody say you know what Andy? Want you come be the quarterback for the Jaguars or whatever and then you know you get a two thousand twenty two compensatory pick for him so you know I also. I just remembered while we were talking that when the cowboys interviewed Mike McCarthy they interviewed Marvin Lewis and obviously it wasn't a hundred percent known that Andy Dong would be available back then Granted the Bengals did have the number one pick and everybody kind of knew they were taking Joe Borough but I wonder if if just say shit happened there. Okay what do you think about Andy Don because who would know him better than Marvin Lewis in? I'm I'm sure that there's people that talk. I mean these coaches talk. I mean it's A. It's a small fraternity network and I'm sure that a lot of that went into all this decision making when you know any goal to me seems like a really good. I love the instagram photos or video Kim throwing in the backyard the net. I'm like is that Photoshop. Because he threw like four or five and his his kids like giving them toss and Stony Brook. Look at this point I really. I didn't really follow some online anti-dole because when he was at Tcu yes When the cinncinnati-based you know in this part of the country will we follow the cowboys. But now I mean I I think it's a I think it's a great decision on to bring a man again at a bargain deal and under the circumstances in look. I'M NOT GONNA PUT. I'll I'll I'll use this. Hypothetically what did they tell Andy Gall look? We're going to give you a one year deal. You'RE GONNA get a chance to play 'cause we don't we may not sign all that Prescott so you're going to be the guy. Well I'm just saying hypothetically as you get two or three games on your Bell I look. I'm just I'm trying to you know just throwing stuff against the wall. We won't stuff up in the air and you know the the sky's the limit with this to saying that if you buy into that I can understand that whole situation with Andy Gull. Silt they can be a started in a national football. He goes out there and puts up. Preseason plays an appreciate play maybe two or three games in the regular. I don't know I'm just saying the best case scenario for Andy Dalton for Jerry and Stephen and we'll maclay to sell him. You're may be all at chance to quarterback game. Excuse me as a quarterback and you in ball then you show the world look. I still get skills. I think the I mean. There's clearly among backup quarterbacks. The Path has there's two paths. I think if you're a backup trying to get back to being a starter one is and this is harder to do you go to a team that seemingly has a very questionable starter in hope you know as bad as that sounds that that that player gets benched and the best example is Ryan Tannehill last year. You know kind of banged on the fact that Marcus Mariota wasn't that great you know was patient. Got His opportunity. Made the most of it then got his deal now. He's started for the Tennessee. Titans I think the other route the more common route is the one teddy bridgewater tip goby a backup on a very good a very high profile team that you know gets a lot of national publicity and you know. Get your name back out. There and Teddy Bridgewater was a big. He was one of the most popular players in the NFL last year. Just because of who the New Orleans saints are I mean. I'm not trying to anything from Teddy. The guy went five know when he started for drew. Brees but that boosts your you know your image and whatever you WANNA call it a lot. So if Andy Dalton does you know get a chance in mop up duty or whatever for the cowboys to do it for the cowboys. That's gotTa help and so it's something that we that what we do is put out. There is a scenario. And you know given the circumstances in your we're GONNA WE'RE GONNA take this This look different scenarios. The cowboys may take in advantage that they don't have which I'm for sure they'll one way or the other. Something's going to happen whether the franchise whether sign a long-term building we don't know yet. There's a lot of time but again I think when you look at the situation that they are now I think they were kinda forced not forced but well yeah to to be able to have some security in a backup quarterback and again three million dollars to play back quarterback. Chuck it's okay for Danny goal. Okay so I don't think it's a bad deal. Consider you know he. He got booted out of Cincinnati. Go Different Route. Three million dollars from the cowboys perspective. For the best possible insurance you could have is one hundred percents worth it. Okay so for the purposes of this exercise we're going to assume rightfully so that Andy Dalton. Qb To for the cowboys. So where does he rank for you? He he's the what most important player on the cowboys. I think to start it off. I don't think he's any more valuable than any of your eleven starters which obviously includes Dak Prescott on offense. Or you're eleven starters on defense. I don't think that your backup quarterback is more valuable unless you know you had. Tom Brady backing up. I mean there's that's ridiculous but I don't think that your backup quarterback is more valuable than any of your starters. Do you agree with that? I agree with that now with you. Okay so fifteenth and will will will have Joel. We're talking about right now. I think it's a I think it's a great situation to be in. I think yeah I think under the circumstances I mean I can't. He's not a starter. Backup quarterback and you know that's what we do. We value that. You know the the court of the southern when you don't have We we valued at more than if they actually had. That makes okay so so I to me. It's it hasn't changed my perspective. I think as we go on and time dismay change to one eight share onto one. I think it may be a different. The different circumstances and how they value his his His presence on the show then for now though. He's you know he's not in the top twenty. Two players on the team is twenty hundred or is is You know we still have yet to see who this team swing. Tackles going to be Is is you know Connor McGovern more valuable. I is or if conner's stars are your. Are Your backup. You know. Knicks Offensive Lineman more valuable than your backup quarterback. That's trying to figure out where Andy Dalton's worth is too. I think he's I think he's more valuable for the backups. I think is you mentioned? You have the Levin twenty two starters you have but when I look at the whole you know the the scheme of this team Knowledge you have a quarterback like that and look. It's a hypothetical question. Okay because a lot of things are you know. In the event that there there is a hold out. I mean I think it is an insurance policy for the cowboys. And so his body becomes more important But certainly with other positions on this team. I mean Joe Donna. I think that he is. You know that's a question. Mark at center position there. Because you lose a star like Travis Frederick. That's a question more of a concern so e right now in the value of the of what these what the I mean. I guess you can look as being valuable because the guys got you know. He's got a fill in the shoes of perennial all pro potential hall of Famer. And that's not easy to if we're let's assume JOE loonies starter. So then he's he's more valuable right and Andy Dalton because he's you're starting center hypothetically so like hypothetically on defense are would you say Randy Gregory and or Alden? Smith are more valuable to the two thousand twenty cowboys and Andy Dalton. Assuming that playing there's a lot of assumptions and hypothetical. I understand if you're active player Trindon is back last time. I checked the backup quarterback back this sits over on the sidelines. And you know this is a clip award is has The Europeans on night knows what plays are rancho he needs a non factor the people that are actually contributed whether it's rotational defensive. Line obviously yeah. There's more value. There are Jay without a doubt is Andy Dalton more valuable than Tony Pollard. Who like who between those two players who is more valuable this contribution what he can do as far as special teams on his values running back as far as a one two. Pots with Zeke Well without a doubt he's more valuable it because he's GonNa be. He's can contribute Andy Dalton as a stands right now Dak Prescott. The starting quarterback only value that he has if he gets hurt in. He can't play. And then all of a sudden. You know these everything changes practice. And that's a good chain. That's the interesting exercise from me. Like this is a weird way to put it. I guess but like if you I don't know if you had an amazing car right and you had car insurance but say you didn't have. I don't know I'll put it all. I'll reframe it. You know how like when you buy a new like an IPAD or computer. Whatever and I don't want to buy the insurance for yeah and it's always no. It's always know unless it's like something really really really really care and you're also going to happen. You're going to drop that. So let's call it. Your your computer your your. You can't live without this computer. It's the center of everything you do. And you have the extended warranty for that or you have your IPAD and you. You know your sign has. Ps four whatever and all those other things but those don't have extended warranties so then it becomes a manner of what's more important to you. What do you value more the extended warranty on on your your computer or your IPAD. You know what I mean because I think that that's the that's interesting conundrum for me is what do you what do you value more the the security knowing that you have security for your main thing or your other thing and that's all right. That's why I think Tony Pods an interesting example because to your point if everything goes well obviously Tony. Pires more valuable to the cowboys. Because he's going to contribute way more often than Andy Dalton but Andy Dalton does give you some mental piece that you have that so what do you. What do you value more value for me? I valued I mean. It's an awesome conversation to be Korea. So you know this. All these fans are like okay. Well we got any dulling that wants too much money. So we're we're we're good you know. Let's say it. It's just you know this spontaneous reaction to you know whatever they get caught up in a bid to sign a free agent like golf which they don't they forget about that. Prescott about how much you can contribute. And what he's done on his last four years so you know I value more of the you have. It's like debt man. You have to have a bench attack or death everywhere so you gotta you gotTa value. Dana's plus you quarterback for sure to me or to me wants to say okay. I really value a lot of Andy Dalton because of the situation that Prescott the unknown we all know. Hopefully it's GonNa get done But what happens if he holds out for two years or excuse me for two years for two games? Which I don't think is GonNa Happen but the point and one side's GonNa is going to bed and right now. I think the cowboys Sonnen someone like Andy. Dalton makes it a little easier for them. Not that they have leverage that they'd have security..

"So we know what he's capable do it. We want you back. But we want you at our number. So I believe it's twofold. It gives them the quarterback they need a quality. Backup me because I believe if something were to happen today. I don't believe personally I could be wrong. And a lot of other people would be proven wrong if cooper could come in in this with all that pressure and lead the team if something were to happen at that point extended period of time and it all has been a starter. I believe and Don could come in if something were to happen. The Deck and keep the ship upright until would return but on the big size skip. This is a leverage play. This is a leverage play. Said that we feel very comfortable going into the season playing the season with Andy Dalton. If you're unwilling to relinquish on your car drive demand so this was a message onto foles. This was a vantage Jerry Jones. This was a shocking steal of a deal of a quote unquote backup quarterback. Who as you point out Shannon Football Games for a bad team in Cincinnati? Andy Dalton is three time pro bowler who carried that team to the playoffs with the help of Aj Green. But he did it store times. The bengals made the playoffs four times under Andy Dalton and all of a sudden the big D.

"Was the Patriots back last year you'd be telling us he's going to be a star. It was taken right after what he can't play. Russell Wilson's backup. I looked it up this morning. I couldn't I didn't know who it was. It's an undrafted guy. I'd never heard of teams that have notoriously healthy. Quarterbacks don't invest five million dollars which Cooper Rush Plus Dalton. It equals five million bucks in the backup quarterback position it is about a minor shot across the bow. Kevin to tack to let him know okay. But if if you play hardball continuously eventually we do have an alternative at least wild. That's certainly how I'm reading it. That's interesting that I actually will see if see if you buy this. Is there a chance that this is actually like really good for Dak? Like I don't think Dacca's learning anything from Cooper Rush Offensive Cooper rush but he's more seasoned and he knows more than cooper rush you bring in Andy Dalton and Dak and actually learn so this might be a net positive for deck. Brian you by that. Like the Jeff Garcia Make Donovan. Better other there were some situations that Jeff that he had been in because he was in the league a little bit longer than Donovan. He was able to help them out with. And I think what you come to the sideline and you have a guy that has been a starter illegal. Sees things different than a backup? Everybody has been played. Very much. Is certainly an asset. But I still think that whether Cooper rush or Andy Dalton is going to be the backup or going to be the guy that's GonNa come in to back doesn't play. It doesn't wouldn't change very much. How Dat Great? I still think he goes out. There has a really good year coming off his best season of in the NFL lassie. There's name for people who aren't supposed to play. Who were supposed to make your quarterback better. They're called coaches..

"Thirty one thousand five hundred ninety four passing yards two hundred four touchdowns passing touchdowns hundred eighteen interceptions another handful of rushing touchdowns as well a nimble guy and. I think we can all agree in terms of a legacy. Andy Dalton is not the most has not been the most gifted quarterback to ever grace in NFL field but he played with passion gave everything to the Cincinnati bengals and sometimes unfortunate injuries took place. I'm looking at you. Twenty fifteen season in the Pittsburgh steelers and also Cincinnati. Bengals are at fault for some of the things that you look at the back end of Andy Dalton career the six nine one seven and nine five and six to eleven to finish his career they let a roster get old they let a roster get stale they let the roster get fleeced of offensive line talent and wide receiver talent particularly in the two thousand sixteen and twenty seventeen off seasons and when you directly there is a direct correlation from the bengals wildcard loss to the steelers and that team implosion by the way and he didn't play in that game as AJ McCarron that implosion. To The free agency attrition especially along the offensive side of the ball offensive line and wide receiver. There's a direct correlation to a lack of team success and a lack of quarterback success by the Cincinnati Bengals. There's no doubt they had to go into another direction. And get Joe Borough. The number one overall pick you got excite the fan base and you gotta take what seems to be generational talent but we.

"Is some thoughts on Andy Dalton's legacy and I'm not going to Belabor the point because a lot of people have maybe some conflicting opinions about him and I don't WanNa be overly emotional or whatever you wanna call it on a day like this but look at a time when the Cincinnati bengals needed something at quarterback. They needed help in the worst way when Carson Palmer told them no more. Get me out of here. Andy Dalton stepped in as you know the fifth sixth quarterback taken in the twenty seventh draft not very high expectations for him by league pundits by really the fans by maybe even those within the Cincinnati Bangles Organization at the time but the bengals had a good plan with them. They surrounded him with some talent. And they created a system that was conducive to Andy Dalton being successful the the first five seasons spokesman quarterback record nine seven ten and six eleven and five ten five and one ten in three successful not bad for a guy that was considered a stopgap option quarterback a lot of people thought. Hey this would be like a Jimmy Clausen situation you know or this would be one of those guys that you get in the mid rounds and just never really turns into a viable option. Oh he was a viable option. And then some you see the three Pro Bowl Berths in twenty eleven. Two Thousand Fourteen in two thousand sixteen people laugh at that as is the case with Andy Dalton in his career with the Cincinnati bengals. It just seems as if the national perception of him is one that's just yeah but yeah but good stats Goodwin's but it's not all him good stats not winning. The Big Games wins the game. You're supposed to doesn't win the big games. Okay Fair but I think for the investment. Andy Dalton far outweighed the expectations by fans and expectations probably by the organization. This.

"Andy Dalton State with the Cincinnati. Bengals has been decided. And it's the outcome that we all pretty much figured was going to happen with the veteran quarterback after the selection of Joe Borough. Hey everyone I'm Anthony Costanza with the orange black insider bengals podcast also one of the Cincy jungle staff members there. Thanks for tuning in. I know it's the middle of the day for many of you but some big news is hit. The wires and franchise altering news is at the wire earlier today on Thursday. Cincinnati bengals parted ways with veteran quarterback. Andy Dalton Dalton had been with the team since twenty eleven. He was the second round. Pick toward the top of that round in two thousand eleven after the Bengals came off a terrible twenty ten campaign in reeling from Carson Palmer forcing his way out of Cincinnati. The bengals hand was forced. They didn't jump at quarterback in the first round of that draft even though there were many Christian Ponder Jake Locker Cam. Newton was already out of reach but Blaine Gabbert. Among many others were options at the bengals could have grabbed on copper. Nick was an option the bengals could have grabbed instead what they did they grab. Aj Green and they got quarterback Andy Dalton in the second round. The rest is history. There's a complicated past with Andy Dalton and the Cincinnati Bengals in their fan base. It's hard to make of the feelings. I think that a lot of fans are feeling today with the departure. Vandy Dalton. Some of it I think is expected. It's been since the season ended and the meteoric rise of Joe Borough in the college ranks his insane season in the bengals grabbing of the number one overall pick even if the bengals didn't have the number one overall pick Miami had unseated them for that in the bengals still held a top five pick. One had to assume that it was either going to be Joe Borough Justin Herbert or to attack. Oh by LOA that would end up in Cincinnati and be the heir apparent depending on which player that they took in this year's class. Maybe Andy Dalton stuck around for another year and played and started and let one of those guys develop and or he'll up if it was one of the other two names mention or it would play out the way that it's played out on Thursday were Dalton is released and Joe Borough is now the unquestioned starter for the Cincinnati Bengals. What'S NEXT FOR ANDY? Dalton is to be determined. There are some landing spots. We'll talk about that in just a second. Some perceived fits and possible avenues Randy Dalton to start and maybe some sneaky ones that nobody really is talking about but Andy Dalton is no longer with the Cincinnati bengals has seventeen plus million dollar salaries off the books and the bengals. Now have over twenty million dollars cap space. That's not with the rookie class coming in here. Not Counting that quite yet. So maybe the move paves the way for the Bengals to make another free agency. Move a waiver. Wire move to add some more talent on the books we don't know but as of now that seventeen and a half million dollar figure or so is off of the Bengal salary cap hit for twenty twenty. What's ahead for Andy? Dalton remains to be seen as I've said there are a lot of conjectures as to where he may end up. Apparently there's reports that he forced the told the Bengals to release me at As of Thursday. How substantiated that is. I don't know but it would seem that. He wants to find a place to go sooner rather than later land on his feet sooner rather than later and potentially get into a playbook system as soon as possible so he has the best opportunity to potentially grab a starting opportunity elsewhere. There are not many of those out right now and the quarterback free agent class is currently pretty deep cam. Newton's out there Joe flacco out there. Andy Dalton's out there Jameis. Winston just got a deal with the saints a backup quarterback on a very very low salaried incentive laden deal to be the backup in New Orleans. Ironically Carolina grabbed New Orleans is backup in Teddy Bridgewater to be their Guy Kyle. Alan is still there Jacksonville. Lights Gardner minhsiu Jay Gruden is there. Apparently that's reportedly the biggest hotspot for the antidote. Potentially land makes sense where he would go there. And if you would get a starting spot who knows you would think that there would be probably the best chance there. New England did not select a quarterback in this year's draft. They seem to be fine as of this moment as we sit here Thursday afternoon with jared and Brian Hoyer the bengals undoubtedly tried to deal Andy Dalton in the days and weeks leading up to the drafting into draft weekend but their hand was overplayed. They didn't really have much. Leverage in trade negotiations probably would not net much. If anything this year maybe something next year but felt the value was not there and orw potentially need to take on some of that salary cap space or salary of Andy Dalton before unloading him to another team in the in. The bengals did not want to do that so I think Andy Dalton Politely said let me let me go and try and find a place for that that I can get you as soon as possible and one that I get to pick my situation as opposed to maybe being forced in a trade so Dalton is now a free agent here are a couple of possible destinations k. We talked about Jacksonville. They have Garner men's shoe there. Jay Gruden is the offensive coordinator there so potentially that's a fit. You've got a one. Would maybe think I mean Dallas could be a spot. There's some talking heads. Apparently I have a friend in the in the Texas the state of Texas kind of in the Dallas area and some of the talking heads on radio. We're talking about Andy Dalton. Being a choice for the for the cowboys interesting is. Chicago still an option. Even though they grabbed nick foles and his gigantic salary from Jacksonville this off season bill lasers air laser worked with Dalton. Maybe I mentioned New England. New England still has question marks quarterback which is something you haven't been able to say since before drew bledsoe was there so that's a possibility I guess. What about a team like Pittsburgh? I threw this out on on twitter. What about team Pittsburgh? That'S NOT CLICK. Bait. I'm not trying to create. Click Bait by saying that but Ben Rothlisberger in sixteen. Previous seasons has played a full sixteen game season four times in sixteen years. He's the starting quarterback there is no doubt but he's coming off of a significant injury. He gets injured pretty often in the regular season. Pittsburgh's not they publicly are backing Mason. Rudolph but he was benched when he was relieving Rothlisburger last year. Maybe don doesn't go in there as the starter day wine but he is pressed into some action and winds potential opportunities to win Important Games for the steelers in relief of Rothlisburger or if he if Rothlisberger has a setback in. He can't start the season. Maybe Dalton is an avenue for them. There was talk. I had another friend in the Houston area talk about Houston potentially being interested in Andy Dalton around draft time who knows maybe Carolina just to get more insurance. If Teddy Bridgewater falters and door. They didn't the new regime doesn't like Kyle Alan Buffalo Oakland. These could be possibilities. The issue is is going to one of these places and being dead set starter. Really only one or two of those provide that opportunity some would be as emergency starter or in a major scrum to get playing time and it's an unfortunate reality. Andy Dalton has to face and and a lot of veteran quarterbacks have to face in the NFL that have had a lot of ups and some downs in their career. Joe FLACCO currently facing that. That guy won a super bowl. He can't find a job Cam. Newton went to a super bowl. Mvp number one overall pick can't find a job there. There's I said Oakland I'm sorry force of habit. Maas Vegas my apologies there. There are a number of avenues that that Dalton could see care but I think unfortunately you're going to he. He may not get the pick of the litter choice here that he's he's wanting just because of the deep free agency. Classic quarterback and a lack of opportunities there if you noticed in the draft. There was a long long. Wait beyond the first round quarterbacks for for some of these guys eason from long waits. Some people were talking. Those guys would be second round. Picks maybe third round picks and wait till middle of day middle late of day three to get off the board because many teams have now solidified their quarterback position whether it's the draft for free agency in a number of different ways unfortunately for the bengals unfortunately for Andy Dalton the way that this offseason fell at the quarterback position. The bengals didn't have a lot of leverage in terms of trade. Here we thought he would. We thought they would but maybe not. There's a lot of people saying he'll be icy John Seager in the live facebook chat. He'll be working by Monday. We receive some texts on our orange black insider. Text Line saying he's probably going to be employed by next week and Blah Blah Blah. Yeah probably could be. He could find a good situation and that's great for him. That's great for him and I I wish him the best but it could be. It could be the team's pounds quick because now they can. They have a lesser salary cap number to work with and set and contract work with. He can kind of pick his own destination and teams. Maybe didn't want to give up the draft capital this year to the Bengals so now that they don't have to get that give that up. Maybe more teams will be calling for Andy Dalton services if they weren't calling already for them one silver lining in terms of a capital gain. If you want to call that caught that for the Cincinnati bengals is in the innate potential compensatory pick. The bengals didn't have any of those this year. It's possible that the fanny don't go somewhere is productive. You know maybe they get something out of that Who knows that? Formula Truly works out He was a cut guy. So that may not come to fruition for them but who knows what we do know is a job row is the guy in Cincinnati and what we do know is that Andy Dalton is now a current current free agent in will potentially land with another team. Probably Pretty soon. It just depends on if he's going to be a starter.

"Fdic some really smart conversation there on Dak Prescott with will Cain McCain and I actually agreed on a bunch of things so at the very least that is reason enough to go. Check out the PODCAST. We'll Kane on the same page. I'm taking your take and you guys want to. Chime in on Andy Dalton. So we're going to blow up the rest of the show and let you do that. Where's Andy Dalton? Going to end up and why triple eight say. Espn eight seven nine. Three seven seven six chance in Arizona. What are you got? What's your take on Andy Dong Eh just wanted to say I'm a big fan of the show first off Thanks I believe he's GonNa go to Carolina because they I mean will greer at his stint last year and he was just not very good. So I think with bridgewater being the The starter have a veteran presence behind him because he has been kinda injury prone so I think that's a good fit for them now. I don't disagree with anything on that date. Look there's a lot of good fits. Brandy Andy Dalton. The question is where can you learn a little bit like? We've all talked about Jameis Winston but most importantly to me for Andy Dalton Working Rehab his his entire image at this point David Arizona. What's your Andy Dalton? Take Hey Jason how you doing today. Man I WANNA say originally. I'm from Cincinnati Ohio Big Fan of the bank. Of course being from there First thing I wanted to ask forget that nonsense about Andy Go. The steelers and speaking for all bengals fans like previous caller had said before about him gone steelers. We will be all but heard that ever happened. So I don't even want to hear that. Talk about that In regards to anti leaving Cincinnati. I'm not sure he's going to go exactly. But I do WANNA say man. That guy is a stolid consistent player. Not only been car solid consistent player for the city. He's been a great representative. He started foundation a number of charitable organizations and wherever he's going go they're going to get a classy dude and we'll we'll be a great loss for the city of Cincinnati and a great representative city where he wherever he went up. Well you know. That's all a glowing part of Andy Dalton right and thanks for your take on it and unfortunately for you guys I feel like the steelers make a lot of sense so this might be one of those moments that the Bengals fan base doesn't have a lot of choice on bill in Georgia. What do you got your your. Take on Andy. Hey Jason just WANNA say Big Fan appreciate you taking five but I feel like the DOT would be agreed set for the Cleveland. Browns think There's too much town team not to have a solid back In case Baker Mayfield. Another Mike did last season. The browns are an interesting take on it. I hadn't thought of it. Thanks for your take on it. Just because you're right I mean I keep saying I think the browns have more talent than we give them credit for. So you know. I'm not sure though. The quarterback position and Baker Mayfield should at least in theory be more locked up than it is for Pittsburgh so I still think I like going to the steelers. There's a backup better than going to the browns back of Alex in Texas. What do you got? What's your take on Andy? Jason All these guys. The spillers Brown's the dolphins. This doesn't make sense man. I'm here in Dallas Fort Worth. I'm in Grapevine. Texas the best situation for the cowboys would be the bringing Abbey. He's not you've got. He's a local guy. You'll get a lot of shining a lot of love and you need to push Dak Prescott to the table. You need to let him know that the bachelor that's here now who we would therefore it in it's going to be upgraded and now you need to come to the table with the deal. We want you to have your Andy Dalton. You're in area again where you came from. Tc You you know you're GonNa get love and you might a real opportunity of that. I I hold out and people won't be pushing back on you like in these other markets. Everybody's bringing up so that's press out of your table by any coming into the fold and upgrade. Its backup position. I see a win win there for both parties involved other than that. Prescott as a third party. His worst he made out of his own offense. Look I love the fire on that take? I'll say this. I never thought about the hold on his opportunity. And if we do believe there's GonNa be a hold out. It's a good opportunity for Andy Dalton to get out and show what he can do with as I said earlier a roster I think is super bowl caliber so you got a lot of weapons on the offensive side of the ball for or Cam Newton. We'll see this again cam. Newton's a better quarterback than Andy Dalton. We all know that and I understand that Andy Dalton might not be a world beater too many people. But let's acknowledge the good of Andy Dalton when you're talking about five playoff appearances for the Cincinnati Bengals. Keep in mind. Philip rivers only took the chargers to the playoffs six times. Andy Dalton took the Bengals to the playoffs. Five I'm not saying Andy. Dalton is a world beater. But when you take the Bengals to five playoff appearances and you make three pro bowls. You're not the trash quarterback that everyone's making him sound like he is right now. Let's accept the fact that some quarterbacks in the middle of the pack might not be great they might not be Patrick Mahomes. They might not be Aaron Rodgers. But they're still good enough to win you games. That's Andy Dalton. Don't let the bengals portion of Andy Dalton. Jj on who? He is as quarterback. More coming up what what's next for. Andy Dalton will cain. They'll be talking about it. Thanks for listening to I. Take Your take. I'm Jason Fitz..

"Just closely observed bill belichick. My guess is no he will not. I'm guessing that because of Bella checks track record of being wildly unpredictable. He loves to do whatever nobody is expecting him to do. He does love to shock the world and it would be shocking to me in a conventional way if he did what everybody expects them to do. Now which is to sign the poor man's Tom Brady. Andy Dalton some pretty good. A lot of people have argued with me over the years. He's very good. He did make three pro. Bowls is a while back. Twenty Eleven Twenty Four Twenty Sixteen. He made the pro bowl as a starter. He's seventy sixty one with two ties. Not Bad and yet from twenty twelve twenty fifteen. I know we're going back aways over. Those four years. He had the fourth most wins in pro football in that span. Brady at forty eight Peyton and Russell Wilson had forty six and he had forty one so he's won a whole bunch of games and yet. He made the playoffs four times and he didn't win a playoff off game but he has played in four wild card games but in those four games he has one touch down to six interceptions so he's Brady esque in his approach to the game. He's sort of a addressed up.

"By Jalen and Jacoby immediately following the broadcast presented by state farm in. At and T. available wherever you enjoy your podcast. You don't WanNa miss that. They do a great job of getting updated on. I want your take. Where's Andy Dalton? Headed and why. Let's go to Johnny in Ohio. Johnny what's your take on the next. Stop for Andy. I'd say it goes to Jacksonville. They got a J office coordinator formerly of Cincinnati and I think he's got a shot. That gun instances starting to look I. That's actually a smart Jay Gruden of anybody that doesn't always with Andy Dalton and Cincinnati and now Jay Gruden is the offense coordinator in Jacksonville. You guys can chime in triple eight say. Espn eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven seven six if Jacksonville makes no attempt to Dan Dalton and they are sending us a clear message and that clear messages that they are ready to tank for trevor. Trevor Lawrence is likely to be the first pick overall in the draft next year. Barring anything catastrophic like we saw this year. God forbid right. Trevor Lawrence is likely to be the first pick out of Clemson. Here's somebody that frankly would have been. The top quarterback picked the last couple of years if he had the ability to come out. People have been infatuated. Trevor Lords. If the JAGS make no attempt. Andy Dalton or Cam Newton if they go in with an uncontested Gardner Menchu as their starting quarterback. What are they telling you? They're telling you flat out that they are ready to tank. They're ready to stink and they're ready to take whatever comes with it. You know you have to look at it from the standpoint. What did they have to lose from taking? I mean the fan base is already irritated at best with the team right. So if you know that you're going to get very little equity outside of the sort of commercial small that you get from minhsiu mania outside of that. What would really make the jags relevant? What would really make the jags relevant not just in Jacksonville but also in London when they play over there. I don't know how about having the topic in the draft superstar quarterback coming out of the gates the type of quarterback that you can sell season tickets for the message that the JAGS are sending if Andy Dalton has not at least reached out to then the. Jags are telling you quite clearly that they're really ready to phone it in and that tells me. Janaka who's been vocal about wanting to trade. We'll finally get it and the JAGS will go all in one mission. Losing Games as often as possible. I want more your take. What's next for Andy Dalton Philly? Sorry Mike in Florida Mike. What do you got for Andy Dong? Hey Big Fan of the show by the way thanks. I think I think he's going to the steelers. I think that with Rothlisberger. Getting hurt as much as he does I think Dalton would be a nice backup spot on the steelers fan myself. And I really don't believe in Rudolph and I don't believe in in Hajjah. I think that Rothlisberger can stay. Healthy is a really dynamic quarterback but as a backup spot. I think it's not a bad choice. Look at everything you just said makes a of sense. It's flat out irresponsible for the Pittsburgh steelers to go into this season at quarterback with only big Ben in the options they had last year. I will say it again. The steelers almost made the playoffs with hot garbage at quarterback. Right we all accept that. The steelers had terrible quarterback play and they almost made the playoffs. When you start to think about almost making the playoffs with the quarterbacks they had and then an expanded playoff world they would have been the seven seat there are. There's an extra team this year. This dealers have a legit chance of being a playoff team and it all hinges on a surgically repaired Ben Rothlisberger that. We haven't gotten to see anything from you. I mean how could they possibly I mart organization not consider the future quarterback or at least protecting themselves protection? How much would Andy Dalton cost? Whatever it is. It's worth it because we know that those contracts aren't high and we know that. Andy Dalton will get the opportunity to sit in Pittsburgh. If he's not starting who cares he's not going to get faulted for because frankly he won't get fault divorce sitting behind. Ben Nobody would fault them for that but if he does start if he gets them opportunity he'd have tremendous weapons around that has value to me. The weapons around him would give him the opportunity to show people that he can still play. I want more your take on. Andy Dalton triple eight say ESPN eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven six plus. We'll Jameis Winston get another chance to be a starting quarterback in the NFL..

"I'm willing to listen to you in the meantime. He's not the only quarterback in the news as the chatter continues around Aaron Rodgers. Brett Farr talked about Aaron Rodgers when he went on the rich. Eisen show on Sirius. Xm and made it clear that he doesn't believe Rogers is going to be finishing his career in Green Bay. I think you'll see that trend more and more and I think you're and finished somewhere else. That's my gut. I guarantee you this and I. I don't know for certain but I guarantee you. It's got the wheels turning and errands mind. Which if that's the case. Then that means the. There's a chip on his shoulder for the organization that otherwise was not there. I love all of that. By the way guarantee. Can't say for certain but I guarantee you and yeah. There's a chip. There's a chip on his shoulder. The question is what's it mean moving forward and at this point given the statements by Brett Farve. No one would know better what it's like to have this happens. Steven A. Ryan Clark. Imacs talked about farve weighing in on Aaron Rodgers. I don't think sticking up for farther your is going against Rogers I think far as through experience better insight into this situation is more interesting to hear from than anyone else in the world who understand this better and I think he's also right. I don't think Aaron Rodgers is going to finish his career and a Green Bay uniform just as far didn't hey one hundred percent Ed Hale Brett. Farr is the person you call for this. They should have been Reagan. His phone wind degree. Bay Packer Jordan. Look it didn't matter what they did for the rest of the draft. This is it. This is the story. It was the same story. When Aaron Rodgers failed to the Green Bay packers after Alex Smith when number one overall to the San Francisco Forty niners? And you don't have to ask dude about a situation because he did it right. It's almost better to ask him because he did it wrong. Or because it was perceived as wrong. I want to hear that you that you were upset. I want to hear that it caused confusion between you and the GM between you and the head coach and fear he's GonNa figure his career somewhere else. It also seems like they've had some conversation so Brett Farve is the perfect guy and I don't care if you don't bring up what he did in the past because it really does it matter now. What matters is you were in this position? You have an in helmet and first hand perspective of how you felt during this time how you handle it you also know the dude very well who is going through it now. So who else would you ask? I mean the reason that we get former players to be analyst reason. Analysts is because y'all WanNa hear what it was like in the Locker Room. You want to hear what it was like on the field. What are these experiences? And how do these experiences affect now? Who Do they make you? How did you deal with them? Brett farve could tell us about that more than anybody and did he stink when he was going through it absolutely was the little overrated when he left absolutely which Aaron Rodgers probably will be too but he can give us a perspective on this that we can't get anywhere else issue. It's just always good to have hall of Famers Talk Any Dang Ryan Clark. I'm GONNA forgive you because you were an elite football player. Who as far as I'm concerned pets turned into an elite? Nfl commentator. I don't ever recall the word journalists being on your resume that would be me Sir so let me inform you about something. We did talking talking talking about reform. Let's let's let's understand. Let's understand that and I'm aiming this to at you as well. Max I never said. Don't talk to Brett Farve. Let's let's let's address the question that was presented problem with. Fav Win in Yes. I'm not saying that I don't want to hear what Brett Farve has to say. I'm saying that while you're asking Brett Farve to weigh in on this particular situation. Let's remind the world. He's he's the perfect. That's what I'm saying. What I'm saying. You aren't clock is. Let's not just ask him questions about or Aaron Ross and the Green Bay packers because he was in that position any place for that same team. Let's also make sure we bring the relevancy to the equation because literally the reason why this story is because we're all monitoring how is Aaron Rodgers going to act because the Green Bay packers drafted its successor when Nebraska has got to three years left in this career? You didn't get him any help. You drafted him in two thousand five. You have never drafted another off. That's a play a running back and tight end and wide receiver in the first round since two thousand five when you're drafted and Rogers Soy. He how is he going to react all of it? Well Brett fog with no because just as what? Brett fog did that's what I'm saying. Agreed Banks steps off with and this is what he did when he was in that position. It's important to take being radio. Espn news I'm Jason Fitz. They're fired up about all things. Aaron Rodgers we're fired up here about all things. Andy Dalton. I might be the only show that can say that in the history of radio. So we're GONNA go with triple eight eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven seven six. What's your your take on. Andy Dalton. Where's it going to end up in? Why Patrick in California? What's your take on Dalton? Yeah I think Tennessee might be a good landing spot for him. But I mean in general the fact that Cam Newton is on the free market. Also I think helps Andy. Because there's a number of teams out there. They want upgraded the quarterback position but might not want to spend Cam Newton kind of money. And I think we're all agreed that Cam Newton's better quarterback than any don't so you can get Andy Dalton for less money and I think that is an advantage damn and getting signed by somebody. I'll take your take on that. I think this is the one pushback is I. Don't think it's going to be looking at anything. I disagreed with Mike. Golic senior this morning by the way I'm hanging out on Golic and Wingo again tomorrow morning so be sure to check it out but I disagreed with my golick this morning I think is GonNa take a backup opportunity. I don't know that Andy Dalton other than New England would have much chance for anything other than backup opportunity at least short-term came. I don't think he's touching the backup situation so I wonder if the two are kind of living in different lanes right now. Jonathan Colorado. What are you got? What's your take on it? Hey Man I'm a huge dolphins fan so I'm super happy that we got to but since he's hurt I feel like that would be a perfect spot for all the land. He'll be there for a year and get a free agency stock And then he'll you have a really big opportunity to go anywhere you want after that. Look I I love that. Frankly Jonathan on top of my the dolphins. I'll look it up. But we all know. Obviously that Ryan Fitzpatrick is there. And they're comfortable with Ryan Fitzpatrick but let's not get twisted. Andy Dalton is a significant upgrade over Ryan Fitzpatrick. I don't think that's a hot. Take any Dalton's a significant upgrade in my mind over Jarrett Stidham and we all know that. That's where the Patriots seemed to be in at this point. They seem to be locked into jeered stabbed him but in a world where we just saw James Winston. Take a million dollars to get to a situation. He likes we've no idea with Andy. Dalton IS GONNA WANT. But if he wants to go somewhere where you can have a starting opportunity holding down the Fort for Miami while to gets healthy. If he's not completely healthy is not the worst situation for him. I think he can look at that as a good spot for him to land. We'll keep taking your take on her. Triple eight say. Espn eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven seven six. Andy Dalton hit the open market. I'm fired up about it again. I'll say this loud. I'm not saying that. Andy Dalton is an epic quarterback. I'm saying that. He's a pretty good quarterback and being a pretty good quarterback is better than many teams have. So well understand. He's likely to find himself in a backup situation. I don't think it's out of the question to look at some of these quarterbacks around the League in Question. Y If you're Jacksonville you're not bringing in somebody like Andy Dalton to compete with Gardner means you out of gate. Are you really willing to give everything over to Gartner Mint you? I mean you're not even gonNA look at Andy Dalton if I'm the Broncos and I've spent all of this capital in the draft on getting great weapons around drew lock. Is it not worth at least exploring who? Andy Dalton is a quarterback to me it is. I want your take on triple eight say. Espn you can also tweet me at Jason Fitz coming up if the NBA returns to finish their season. Which team benefits the most for the lengthy hiatus? You'll hear I thought next I take your take on. Espn RADIO AND ESPN news. I take your take on. Espn radio the ESPN APP. "End up and why I can guarantee you one thing I can guarantee you one thing over the course of the last ten hours. Nobody has been more fired up about Andy Dalton than I was to start the show. Good Lord okay fired up about it I want your take on. What's going to happen next for Andy Dalton Jesse in Cincinnati Jesse chime in Andy? Dalton what's your take. Oh Yeah so. I think he'd be a good New England just for the system that they like to run But you can't expect too much out. Andy Dalton let's everything's perfect around him ever since you know we lost Jones's to new and I it hasn't been the same and the defense is fell off and obviously the franchise doesn't help them signing any three agents. I go anywhere with. Let me let me stick with me. Don't go away but let me counter that argument. You just mentioned the offensive line's bad. There's no weapons to tide them. Fell off so what quarterbacks outside of the top. Let's say six quarterbacks in the NFL quarterback do you think could come in and suddenly elevate what Andy Dalton was playing with and make them a playoff team? So you bring in cam new. I mean there's somebody in create on their own. What is down there Carolina well and look. I wouldn't be opposed to the bengals bringing in somebody like Cam Newton fine but my bigger point to this is everything that's been laid out right then and thanks for your take on everything you just laid out about. The bengals is part of the reason that most quarterbacks couldn't win in Cincinnati There are a handful of quarterbacks that can overcome whatever's around them and win no matter the system and no matter the weapons. There are a handful. Guess what if your litmus test for your quarterbacks ability ranks amongst the Patrick mahomes in Aaron Rodgers. You are probably losing that battle constantly. Most teams don't have that at quarterback in fact most teams are hopeful to get Ryan Tannehill. Somebody that can go and get the job done but still has to be in the right situation. The right elements be around them and when that happens suddenly Tannahill goes from being a bust in Miami to being some huge success in getting paid in Tennessee. Why because the system was better for him because he got healthy and because he had the right pieces around him. Most quarterbacks need help and a quarterback needing help doesn't mean that they stink. It just means that they're not one of the best five in the league. That's okay don't forget tune into the last dance behind the scenes. Look at the nineties bowls dynasty the series continues this Sunday nine pm Eastern on. Espn can't wait for this. When we'RE GONNA get a look behind the curtain of Horace Grant always curious about how that went down..

"Espn fifteen thirty in Cincinnati. You mentioned Jacksonville. A lot of people have made a lot of Jay Gruden now the offensive coordinator there and obviously was a head coach for the bengals during Andy. Dalton's tenure so when you look at Jay Gruden specifically. What was their relationship like really. Really good Jason a nice job with you know you remember. Andy's first season was the walkout year. So that environment here was so bad because you had Carson Palmer telling the Bengals I don't WanNa play for you anymore That was the all season where. Espn the magazine ranks them. As the worst franchise sports They brought back Marvin Lewis at the end of a disastrous year. In two thousand ten. It was chaos here and they drafted Andy Dalton in round two That was picked at a lot of people. Didn't want them to make because they wanted to take a quarterback in the first round. And then you add to it. The the basically the non off season the short window to get a rookie quarterback ready all while the possibility of Carson coming back looming over. Everything and Jay did a really nice job of of getting Andy. Ready to play started week one and then went to the playoffs that year in jail. The offense coordinator for for these first three seasons. I tend to think that what they did with. Hugh Jackson was a little bit better because anti had his best. You're under hugh but that's also when they had their best talent. Yeah J. Crew did a nice job here and and certainly if I'm Andy. I'm looking for people that I've worked with before people that I've looked at that I've had success with before Jake route and would certainly be on that list as what Tyler Lifer who is a tight end who signed with the Jaguars and this off season. Who had a great year Playing playing with Andy in two thousand fifteen. I think that makes a Lotta Sense. Just because I feel like if I- Andy I'm going to be working with my former offensive coordinator and my competition for the job is governor minhsiu. I feel pretty good about that if I was him talking about. Mo Egger. Espn fifteen thirty in Cincinnati. I can take on ESPN radio. I'm Jason Fitz so mo one more for you here as you look at the landscape that we're in right now in pandemic and obviously it means there's not as much opportunity for guys to get on the field. We don't know what the off season is GonNa look like any surprise given those restrictions. They decided to move on from Andy Dalton instead of just giving him at least the off season to allow borough more time no because of the salary Andy's number against the cat. This year was going to be seventeen. Point seven million. And there's there's a lot of good arguments that you could make for Andy being here and and even in a normal offseason a normal set of circumstances would he be a willing mentor to Joe. Borough absolutely I don't think anybody who's ever watched Andy Dalton and been around Andy Dalton would would deny that and then you add to it. You know we don't know what training camps going to look like. Is there going to be a free season? Would it be nice to have an insurance policy? Yes the issue was the seventeen and a half million dollars. Hey they just have more things to spend that money on. They've got assigned draft choices. I think they like to restructure some contracts. What are they? GonNa do specifically with. Aj Green Long-term. Joe mixon other players on the roster so I think if Andy Dalton salary was half of what it was. There's a decent chance you know he would still be here. I think the in some floated out that. Well you ask Andy to take a pay cut. I don't know who in their right mind would say yesterday that I know if somebody took my job and I got a front row seat for watching them do my job. I'm GonNa want what's owed to me. So that idea was never plausible. But I I do think it's going to be interesting The other quarterbacks on their roster have a combined free starts between them I do think it'd be interesting as we get closer to figuring out what this what training camp is. GonNa look like to see if they do bring in a veteran guy but it it it had less to do with India being a viable option to be a starter in an emergency or a mentor. And I think you love those things. You're just not willing to pay seventeen and a half million dollars for them. You can follow him on twitter at fifteen thirty. Check about fifteen thirty. Espn CINCINNATI MOAS. Always we appreciate your time. Thanks for the insight anytime Jason. Thanks you know. I'm both sweet and salty about this if you love nature valley sweet and salty bars. You'll love the sweet and salty. Minis is all of the indulgence saved goodness you know now in a smaller size and at one hundred calories snacking has never been so sweet. I want your take on where Andy. Dalton's headed eight eight eight seven two nine three seven six Jeremy in Pennsylvania. What's your take on Dalton? So I think people often forget that in two thousand fifteen when Andy but for that. Oh and broke. His thumb and ancient McCarron started the first game of the Super Bowl or the first game of the playoffs there that he was legitimate. Mvp candidate Andy. Dalton was having a very very good season. It's four straight years and in general he had four straight years where he had ten plus wins as a starter. I'm not trying to sing the praise the Mandy Dawn. I'm not saying that the guy was a leak or anything like that but any don't is a very very serviceable quarterback and if you give me a system type team like the Patriots. I'll take Andy Dalton over Cam Newton any day of the week Cam. Newton is not your type of system type quarterback. He's the guy that wants to go out there and make his own place and be the best athletes on the field. That's not what I personally would think that that bill belichick would be looking for he would be looking for more. Andy Dalton type guy a system type guy. That's going to go in there and Meld with what they're doing not with what he wants to do. Appreciate your take on it. I don't disagree in many ways. I'll say this. I think cam is a better quarterback cam more talented player. I think we all know that the health issue for cameras the one that makes it difficult because when you can't check them out how do you know where he is not just with the most recent but after years of surgery? Maybe I've picked a weird hill to die on as an NFL fan. And there's somebody that works in this business and that hill is on. I think the word you used there. Jimmy was serviceable. Maybe I'm on the hill of defending serviceable quarterbacks. We suddenly take serviceable. And we lump that into the category of stink they're very different things serviceable can win you games serviceable may need help but can actually come in start and not let your team down serviceable. In and of itself is a skill. Does it make you Aaron Rodgers? No and we'll ever fought the bengals for taking the leap on. Joe Borough no because Joe Borough looks like he could have that sort of epoch superstar level. I'm not saying did andy. Dalton is a superstar saying belittle serviceable to the point that we make serviceable bat. I'm not willing to do that if you WANNA see bad quarterback play. There's been plenty of that in the NFL. And I'm sorry bad quarterback play. Moving forward doesn't look like what Andy Dalton has been able to do at some point although Andy Dalton deserves some blame for where the bengals are. Don't the Bengals as an organization deserve their own blame for where they've gotten themselves in this situation and that's why I continue to look at them as part of the problem and part of why we have to consider that when evaluating Andy Dalton moving forward? I want more your take. Where's Andy Dalton? Going to end up in wide triple eight say. Espn you can chime in on twitter. Also at Jason Fitz are you can call eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven seven six. We'll get more your take bus. Will Aaron Rodgers finished his career somewhere other than Green Bay? One Hall of Famer might have a pretty good idea and he said yes. "Fitz we're talking to will cain of the Wilkin show which you can check out right after we're done today in every single day so let's switch gears a little bit stick with the cowboys though. I'm not saying this 'cause you're on with me. I'd say this either way. Cd LAMB is going to be dynamic and incredible for the cowboys. So what was your level of tickertape parade that you were willing to throw after the draft. Well that's big coming from you. I know because you have a long history of doubting Dallas cowboy receivers. You're not that plenty hallway conversations about Amari Cooper and. I think I've won. Most of those time has twenty. I CD lamb. I am so excited about man that's going to the store and buying a luxury item not a necessity in. Sometimes you need to treat yourself you know. Sometimes you need to go ahead and double down on a strength and I like it. I just don't know how defense is Gonna. Stop the cowboys offense. It's going to be team. Forty Burger there might be some defensive issues but let's see if you can put up enough to keep up with the cowboys and everybody says Oh. You need a defensive back. You need somebody that edge rush. Your offense was already number one in the league. How much better could you get? I give you the Kansas City chiefs. I give you a team that continuously double down on offense and I know made some adjustments and made some moves to make their defense better during the super bowl year but make no mistake. It was a team built on. We can't have enough offense and it did work out for him before everybody gets Superman and before you try to make it a rebuttal. Jason. I'm not saying is Patrick Mahomes but I am saying this is a dynamic offense in Dallas. Good luck keeping up with the points they score will. I'm actually not going to be a contrarian this time for once I mean I think if you just look at that roster on paper top to bottom and you gave most GM's in the in the NFL. The opportunity to train their entire roster for the cowboys entire roster. The cowboys would win that. They have a better roster than most teams. I think it's fair to say that if you are a cowboys fan right now. Listening to the show you believe that. The Liability was coaching. If they've fixed that liabilities should the expectation not be a super bowl? I think the cowboys are being undersold as a super bowl contender this year. Thank you I feel the same way. The thing has been holding. The cowboys back is without a doubt coaching. That front office has been good by the way. And I don't think fully recognized for how good it's been in free agency in the trademark and in the draft it has been simply the Jason Garrett head coaching staff in tenure. That has held the cowboys back. I don't know if Mike McCarthy is the guy to push them over the Hump I think he might be. I hope he might be and I know he has. Everything is disposal to be that guy. We're talking to Kane Kane show so let me switch gears again. The big news today. Andy Dalton no longer with the bengals. I don't know if that's a huge shock to most people will. But it's got me fired up because I feel like we lumped Andy Dalton into the category of liability at quarterback. I'm not willing to do that. So what do you think the next best step is for? Andy Dalton I'm with you I'm all into value investing. I read books about Warren Buffett. I love his approach to the stock market into business. I love the idea of buying low and selling high and when the crowd thinks a certain thing there must be value in the other direction. And I think Andy Dalton is undervalued. I'm not telling you. He's a top ten quarterback in the NFL. But we treat him as though he's not even worthy of start and that's not true. Andy Dalton is better than that. And he's better than some starting quarterbacks out there. Now here's the thing Jason. I'm sure you agree on this. So it was Cam Newton and so was Jameis Winston that didn't guarantee them starting jobs in the NFL. And I love love. Love Love. What James chose to do? I think James showed belief in himself an investment in himself and I think James will come out of this next year of education. A Harvard Education and quarterback plays he described it with a market ready to pay him real money. I think James will be. Somebody's franchise quarterback one year from now not just starter but franchise quarterback. I think this year. Andy Dalton makes almost too much since two patriots. It just I think Andy Dalton. I can't say this for a fact I don't know him. Maybe you've met him. Jason I have not but from a distance he seems like a guy who has the one trait that a bill belichick quarterback would need to have and that is humility. You gotta be able to sit in a film room. You gotTA BE ABLE TO TAKE CRAP. You gotTa have the total destruction of your game on video in front of the entire team in order to make everyone better. I kind of think any John can be that guy and be a competent quarterback which you add those things together and that has to win in New England. I love it. We'll we'll I can't believe this. We just agreed on basically everything. This is a moment if we were in the same hallway right now. We would hug for a very long time but unfortunately we can't do that. So thank you so much for this. I'm checking out the show coming after us as always will you're the best man. Love it man. Thank you look at. That will cain and I agreeing on almost everything he's right. We've had our fair share of heated debates about particular wide receivers. But all of this Andy Dalton conversation comes back and and I think we'll just set it smartly. Humility matters at this what we're going to get a real sense of direction for the Patriots. We already got a sense of direction for the Patriots in the NFL draft. But I would challenge this when you look at the Patriots in the NFL draft. One thing that's important to keep in mind is that they were judging second tier quarterbacks against Jarrett Stidham now Jarret Stidham at one point was expected to be great for Auburn. That didn't necessarily happen as last year. There there's a lot of reasons for that they have. Jared stood him in the room there around him all the time they are comfortable with Jarrett. Stidham is also being asked to evaluate Jarret stidham against players. That are not ready to start me in a vote right now. They were asked to judged against the Jordan. Loves JALEN HURTS OF THE JACOB? Jake froms you're asking to judge somebody that they have in the building versus the if come the possibility that somebody that's not great but could be okay is a better solution. I can easily compartmentalize in my mind. Why the Patriots didn't look at that as a great situation. This is much different. You have something with Andy Dalton that I personally value you have perfect concept. Talk about it all the time. Proof of concept matters when you talk about the quarterback position particularly and I'm sorry as much as Bengals fans WANNA make it out. That he's awful. Let's remember taking Cincinnati to the playoffs. Five Times is something winning when you have the right weapons around you is what most NFL quarterbacks tried to do. Andy Dalton has had success in the NFL and he's had it at a pretty good level. That in and of itself is playoff concept proof of concept for somebody. That has three pro bowls and five playoff appearances out of Cincinnati. That is better than what we've seen from Jarrett Stidham. We'll find out now. How confident the Patriots truly are in their quarterback room? I'm confident and you guys..

"Straighttalk DOT com. So the question is who is Andy? Dalton at this point and at this point is a better solution for any team including the Patriots. Then I don't know one Cam Newton Ryan Clark joined Maxim Stephen Age. They're talking about Andy Dalton and where he fits in the spectrum of quarterbacks available on the open market there is nobody that has ever watched football that has seen Cam Newton healthy and thought that Andy Dalton was a better quarterback Cam Newton. We can point to system all we want the Patriot way. Jarrett's them and what have you. And the fact that he was there for a year under their belt and all that stuff Ryan Clock. You brought this up on. Get up this morning You know the few minutes that I had an opportunity to watch it. When you highlighted how Jarret stidham comes in and he throws a pick six to Jamal Adams of the New York jets and then immediately got yanked out of there by Bill Belichick but Josh. Mcdaniels confident to them. They think he's improve well. None of those are game situations because we haven't seen them throw the ball but about four times on a professional level of so i. I'm not sold on stem yet. Obviously if you WanNa go to route of Dalton it would be because he fits more into the Patriot way. But here's my thing. How do we know really? There's a Patriot. Way when it comes to their offense when you look at. Tom Brady and how elite we gotta make a decision as to whether or not he was great. Oil was he. Not because of Tom Brady was great. Maybe maybe this success was a product of his greatness on the offensive side of the ball along with its chemistry. Whether it be Charlie Charlie Weis once upon a time bill. O'brien once upon a time Josh. Mcdaniels for the last decade or so the bottom line is there's been a multitude of people that Tom Brady has worked with on the offensive side of the ball. And he's been and he's been obviously elite. I think if you're looking at it from that perspective who has the chance of being leaked? I say it would be Cam Newton over Andy Dalton. And Jared my choices Cam Newton as well because I believe if you bring ending dotes in in at this time in his career. He might not necessarily be that much of an upgrade over. Jarrett Stidham and Brian. Hoyer who you already have your quarterback room but if you ring in Cam Newton you bring in something different you bring in a guy who can create own his own and that's what you need it on this team last year. You didn't have the wide receivers who couldn't create separation initially in their routes. What Will Cam Newton give them an opportunity to do? Get into second play situation where they can get into scrammed boudreau separate from other defenders and also now this edge to your run game when you have a guy like James White when you have a guy like Sony Michelle you add them with Cam Newton. Now you can get into some zone. Read type schemes. Because you don't necessarily have the talent on the outside. No if you think Jarrett Stidham is your guy and that's who you WANNA go with. I believe you could stand there. But if you're going to go out on the free agent market and get you a quarterback that guy has to be Cam Newton. You have to add something dynamic to this offense you have to have someone with the confidence to carry you and also remember. The next guy is replacing. The greatest quarterback of all time and Tom Brady that will be immense pressure pressure. That Cam Newton his head to live up to his whole entire career. He's the guy for this job. I believe that he can handle the coaching. Also think he has something to prove. And when you mix that with what the Patriots do already which is going to be played. Great Defense be coached extremely well and be extremely disciplined. It only helps Cam Newton and have Cam Newton would only is that I do think is deficient island players. And so if you could do those things combined those that makes sense to me. I think that Cam Newton is going to make a lot of people. Sorry that they didn't sign him up sooner. Cam Newton when last seen was as good or better than he'd ever been. He was once as I said selected by acclamation. He was the number one player in football. So I do think that there's left as long as the injury is not a recurring issue. There's going to be plenty there still. Relatively young people talk about the beating. He's taken. That's true but that'll shorten the shelf life to thirty five thirty six. Probably not some forty. Which is how quarterback split until quarterbacks played thirty eight forty nowadays to like thirty one. Thirty two okay. Fine write you make a good point if you're going to go out looking anyway. How do we know Dalton's even an upgrade overstep? We don't maybe they're happy with stuff. Look at either one but when you look at what can and can't do he's not GonNa get you. Big Chunk plays off of play action right like that was the issue in Cincinnati but that's not really the Patriots but what he can do is make quick reads. Get the ball out quick. On Intermediate passes that is the Patriots so unless bellichik really goes completely new way with the way. He wants to run his office which is amazing. Kind of chameleon. Act that toward the end of his career. Belgium's coaching career. Unless he does that. Adult and much more fits the type that the Patriots seem to prefer. I take your take on ESPN news. I'm Jason Fitz. I don't understand what is going wrong with the entire world when we look at. Andy Dalton. I mean I understand Andy. Dalton is not a spectacular quarterback. I understand he's not a world beater but we're looking at New England and we're giving Bill Belichick all of the credit for everything that's ever happened. That's good. They're suddenly with the benefit of the doubt he gets. And then we're turning around and conversely blaming Andy Dalton for everything that's gone wrong in Cincinnati. Let me remind you he leaves. The bengals is the all time leader in passing touchdown. Second in passing yards most fourth quarter comebacks and game. Winning drives three proble knots. Three pro bowl nod for a bengals quarterback any doug him out of the dumpster. Five playoff appearances. That's all from field. Yates five playoff appearances in three pro bowl runs for a quarterback in Cincinnati. Is something worth writing home about? I understand that Andy. Dalton's not spectacular but for Ryan Clark to imply that Brian Hoyer Jarret stidham would be a better quarterback room than Andy Dalton. That makes no sense. Jarret Stidham is a fourth round quarterback if anybody if anybody so that level of production coming from Jarrett Stidham he never makes it to the fourth round. Because you don't let a three time pro bowl quarterback dipped to the fourth round. That's insane Brian. Hoyer couldn't beat out Andy Dalton on the open market for a starting job it. Brian Hoyer was your quarterback room with jared Steinem on any team not named New England. We would surely believe that. Andy Dalton was a better quarterback option. I'm not saying that. We have to turn around and acknowledge the Andy Dalton Dalton his greatness in a bottle but to suddenly turn around and act like he's a liability versus unknown or known quarterbacks. That aren't any good is absolutely insulting. To what Andy Dalton has accomplished. It's okay to say that he's not great but let's not make him trash. I take your take on ESPN radio. I'm Jason Fitz fired up about that. Presented by progressive is home insurance. Get your quote Ed. Progressive Dot Com. Today you guys can chime in. Where do you think Andy Dalton is going to end up triple eight say? Espn eight nine. Three seven seven six. Let's get a little insight on this from Cincinnati Moa my buddy from ESPN fifteen thirty joins me. Mo. You just heard me going off about it. Who is Andy Dalton in your mind to most? Nfl Franchises as a quarterback right now. I love the impassioned Defensive Andy Dalton where where you've been for the past nine years I know I'm watching. Go ahead I was GONNA say I. I think it's I think that's the interesting part of this. We've we've known I've said a couple of times today. We've known this was coming for about a year. I mean if you if you kind of watch. The way off season played out before last season. You know Andy went into the second. The last year of his contract when the subject was brought up of a contract extension the owner of the team. Mike Brown said he has to reestablish himself which okay I get that I don't disagree but if he's got to reestablish himself you gotta give them a chance and the bengals didn't make their team any better last off season then they lose their left tackle then they lose. Aj Green. I think at that point we kind of knew how last season was gonNA play out and then we knew what the fallout was going to be. Which was the Bengals? Go in a different direction at quarterback At the beginning of this off season I think you could also see how this was going to end because we were on the verge of this unprecedented amount of quarterback activity involving guys who are either better than Andy. Dalton have more upside than Andy Dalton are cheaper than Andy Dalton or that you could acquire without having to trade for Andy Dalton so the emotional emotionally jarring part of this. You know this this would have been. I think a little bit different. Had this been sudden. We've we've kind of seen this coming for a while. So what's the next best opera? Andy you know. A lot of people have talked about New England and I I certainly get. Why Andy as a safe pick At the same time for me the Patriots have always been a team. Were they wager on talent? They wager on upside. They're willing to set aside any red flags you know. This is the team that will take a chance on Antonio Brown. It'll take a chance on Josh Gordon team. That will bring somebody heck. We've we've seen it with guys here in Cincinnati that you're like okay. How was Corey Dillon? Or Chad Johnson going to affect that locker room and it turns out that you know in some cases like Corey Dillon. It works out great. Some cases like Chad Johnson. It doesn't screw up their locker room but it really doesn't work out all that well with Andy. You know what you're getting. You're not getting that much. And frankly they really have an address their biggest issue in New England which is guys to throw to so if he goes to New England. We kind of know what that looks like right. He's going to be fine. He's not gonNA be Great. Their talents not great. His talents not great. So there's a part of me that wonders doesn't just make more sense to Kinda gamble with the unknown because maybe with the unknown. There's a little bit more upside but if it's not New England you know. Does he get a shot in Jacksonville? I've sort of thrown out there that it might make sense. If I'm a Pittsburgh steeler fan. What better way to stick it to the Bengals then Dalton backs up. Ben Rothlisberger are we. Are we betting on him? Playing Sixteen Games is Dalton. A better option to back him up and Rudolph or duck. Hodges or anybody else they have. I tend to think that Andy's going to surface somewhere as a backup. But the New England thing until you figure out exactly what their quarterback plan is. I guess has to be something that we all consider and talk about. We're talking to Mo Egger..

Bengals at the Combine in Indianapolis, taking a closer look at Joe Burrow

"With us here from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis where we will be all week so much going on. I'm waiting next with Adam. Schefter Louis Riddick Todd mcshay and Mike Tannenbaum just to catch you up right now. Here's what's happening today in Indianapolis. It will be a very busy week. At Five o'clock eastern though owners are expected to meet players to talk about the new CBA which could expand the playoffs and move to a seventeen game regular season. We've got forty seven. Nfl head coaches and GMT. We'll be talking today. You're also hear from SEC. Standouts Joe Borough and to a ton of Aloha who also addressed the media earlier today. Jonesboro put on an absolute show as you know on route to a national championship for Lsu setting an FBI. Single season record with sixty touchdown passes and Ditto. While completing a whopping seventy six percents of his passes and not only that but bro won the heisman trophy in dominant fashion receiving a record ninety point seven percent of the first place votes here. Our previous comments from Joe Borough on February seventeenth during a reception. For the Davey. O'brien award. He had this to say I do have leveraged the Bengals have their process and I have my process. We haven't even gotten to the combine yet. There's a lot of things that happened. Leading up to the draft. A lot of information gathered bras. Mother Robin shot down the idea. Her son does not want to play for the bengals. Saying we have no idea where that came from. It's a story out there that has created that doesn't have any substance at least from our perspective here Hasbro earlier today here at the combine. Of course I want to be the first pick. That's that's every kid's dream you know I've worked really really hard for this opportunity and I'm blessed to be in this position. I'm a ball player. Whoever picks me on my go show up? How play whoever for forever dressing? You know. I'm just not going to be presumptuous. About what they WANNA DO I. It's the draft. You guys have been covered it for a long time and you never know what's going to happen so we played a month longer than everyone else and everyone else's been training a month longer than us you know. I wanted to put. I don't I didn't think I'd be able to put my best foot forward here at the combine so I wanted to wait till pro day had another whole month of training and just be the best that I could be when everyone when. Everyone's eyes are on me. You know coming in. If you're the number one pick the teen is picking number one. Is there for a reason? So you're going to have to come in. There's going to be ups and downs and you've got to stay steady through the process. Our research tells us about Joe. Borough is his own man. He's not going to be talked into saying things for other people's benefits so if that's what he said. That's that's fantastic. I'm looking forward to getting to know him getting to meet him through. The process haven't been able to sit down with them yet. But we've got that on the horizon. We'll talk more about Joe. Boroughs plans to hold off throwing here at the combine. But might I'll start with you in terms of do you want? Do you not want to play for the being. You have any issues at all with where we landed at least at this point. No I mean as I said last week Joe Borough at the end he does not have leverage. The bengals have the first pick in the draft. If they want to draft. Joe Joe Borough. That's where he's GonNa go now with that. Said I think it's incumbent upon sack Taylor in the Bengal organization to create the Right Environment. Where he could come in and they could build something sustainable and truly transformative so. I think where we wended. Wendy is appropriate last week. He could've handled that better but to Joe Boroughs credit. I think they tweak things I think they're in a good spot now. He's been well-coached past week. Tower doesn't it. Yeah and Adema to your Do All your contacts. It appears that borough likely young he's projected pick. I still think that's where the bengals ultimately go. And they're sitting there and that's about this a team that needs somebody to revitalize that franchise and they are expected to look to trade Andy Dalton at some point this off season and so when you're sitting there in division with Lamar Jackson there in Baltimore think that they know that they have to get somebody in there. That's going to put some points on the Board Baker Mayfield Cleveland and this is going to be the pick for the Cincinnati bengals. Even Joe was considering trying to exercise some kind of leverage really the only leverage you have is withhold your services and not playing not report even if he was thinking along those lines. Let's say he's doing a deep dive trying to figure out exactly. Just what the Cincinnati offer as far as developing me as a quarterback. Could you blame him? Could you really blame him for wanting to dig? Deep on exactly what? What does the future going to look like during over the course of my rookie contract with this football team would exactly? What exactly is Mike Brown's commitment to go ahead and building out this roster around me because we all know a lot of what's going to happen to him has nothing to do with him and has everything to do with everything that's going to be around him. Just look at the past three or four drafts. And how certain players have benefited from going to certain to certain teams? Just look at l a look at the difference between jar rookie year in his second year. Sean mcvay came in. It flipped his rookie year. People were saying Jared Goff to Canada. All of a sudden his second year is like. Oh wait a minute. Maybe he's not so bad you couldn't blame him. If that was a thought Lewis to that point I also think an opportunity. If you're Zach Taylor to say hey what's happened in the past. It's irrelevant we're going to myself with you and we're going to build something great and we can't worry about what's happened before we have a lot of work to do. But if I'm the bengals if I have a hey coach Taylor. That's worked with quarterbacks. Like you mentioned Jared Goff Joe Boroughs Billy and character. That's a great opportunity for the bengals. Sino three things one. Is that if something were to go on with. The bengals is not going to happen in public and this has been addressed in the past week if it's going to happen behind the scenes so whatever we hear from this point on. Don't even don't even look at it. Don't think about it because it has nothing to do with with what is going on behind the scenes. The second thing is this guy's different cab he beats. It goes a Beatles drummer. He doesn't care what anyone else has done. In the past what everyone else is GonNa do in the future? He's going to do what's best for Joe Borough but the third thing I know about him is he's a football guy he's his. His brothers played linebacker at safety at Nebraska. His Dad's a almost four decades coach in football. He's a football guy at its core. He's from Ohio. Obviously I think when it's all said and done he winds up going in Cincinnati if he's number one overall pick but again. If it's GonNa Happen it's GonNa Happen. Not In the media. It's GonNa happen behind the scenes again. Joe Bro not expected to throw on Thursday. He said he just wasn't ready yet. Not a huge deal. Sam Darnold Kyla Murray. The last two years have opted not to throw here at the combine as well. What did make headlines on Sunday? Oddly enough pros hand measurements the measurable quarterbacks took place on Sunday on the smaller side. Love listen here's what he said after it was suggested his aunt size was small considering retirement after. I was informed that we slipping out of my tiny hands. Please keep me in your thoughts while he's got good company because here's what Super Bowl fifty four. Mvp Patrick Mahomes had to say who had just slightly larger hands than did borough my small Andrew doing great so far all right he should say believe in yet. Here's borough earlier today addressing his hands. Yeah I mean these measurements you can. You can take so much from them if it's a glaring issue on film with turnovers. Yeah it's probably an issue but I didn't have a lot of fumbles or anything like that so I just tried to make a little joke out of it I think it's a non factor I don't get paid to talk about. Measurements and analyze. The measurements like played to play football. So that's what I'm GONNA do. I look we're not gonNA make too much of this question. Well yet about what? They actually do what they're actually measuring here so worry not. We've got a ruler. We've got Louis at. I mean really what you're really trying to do is just trying to measure the expense of someone and they put it down on the ground and you actually hear about guys actually doing hand exercises to stretch their hand as wide as possible although when you're grabbing a football you're actually going to measure from the tip of the thumb to the tip of the Pinky here and this is hard because this is a hard rule and you can't really get good accurate measuring you look tired type by just under nine right. Look I'll give you a non center's Oh that's attention and would have actually done something with my. I mean what's interesting when you watch the tape of Joe Borough? There are situations where people come from behind strip him when he's trying to move up in the pocket and run. I mean that's going to happen if you have nine if you have ten inches so I mean it's not a glaring obvious problem as far as him on the football field and that's why I think it's really. It's just going to be something that will hopefully wind up forgetting about certain the biggest thing is and you know this with all of these drills you know as well. Mike you go back to the tape and you're trying to find something after the fact that says okay. Now I'm going to look specifically at these things so you're gonNA look cold weather rain and then ball security and Joe Boroughs as good as any college quarterback you're ever going to see in the pocket in terms of two hands on the ball and protecting the ball. I saw him in two thousand eighteen the last weekend. In September against Ole Miss. You can go back and watch the tape. My suit was soaking wet when I did the open of that game. It was pouring rain driving rain in anyone who says it doesn't rain in Baton Rouge on a Saturday night is lying to you. Because it poured and he completed seventy two percent of his throws with three touchdowns and zero interceptions in that game. So you go back to the tape and you try to look at these things and what the tape tells you is. He's just fine. You know I had a theory here. I have an interesting experience with hand size so I was forced out in two thousand eight. We were we trade for Brett Farve and just as a fan of sport. I can't wait to go out to the first practice and watch Brett farve throw. There's nothing physically imposing about breath and he goes out there and he's throwing Abe I've ever seen and I ask them like what is the value. Where's this philosophy comes from it? He said you know what Mike I have long fingers and I actually couple of football the way a lot of people throw a softball. I could actually be over the top and that's where I get all my philosophy from just watching my practice. It was unbelievable to watch though. I know as Lewis show. There's a tradition of how we measure hands but finger. Length is actually an underrated aspect of playing quarterback so far so far small hands but long fingers and you know what my pinky and all the time strong throwing football pictures of the five. It's easily the least important finger in the hand and I can't remember it ever being a big factor. It's all there in the grip. The pinky to me doesn't matter. It's archaic. How we're measuring the quarterback's hand span now with that. Said there's thirty four quarterbacks in the last fourteen years who have been drafted that have had hands of nine inches and smaller and really only two of them had any sort of Sustained Success Ryan. Tannehill is one of them and Jared. Goff is the other. That's it so there are thirty two out of thirty four. Who have failed. But are we going to say that he's going to the Joe Boroughs? Not GonNa have success because his hands tells me that the reason for their failure wasn't because they were nine inches weight.

Where will Tom Brady play in 2020?

"Asaka little Tom Brady. We did not speak about the report. Indian rappaport our guy has followed it up a few times that the Patriots are willing to pay Tom Brady thirty million dollars or more which which I think is very significant also reported by Ian. was that the chargers would show some interest in reported by. ESPN is that. Tom Brady made it to the free agent market that the raiders would be expected to show a ton of interest and all. That's fine but once I heard he and wrap Ian say the Patriots Patriots are willing to pay him thirty million dollars. I kind of was like that. That's a wrap like he's coming back to the Patriots defense. True not on purpose never made sense to me that this was for all of the prime of his career the last decade. He didn't care about money. He took pay cuts so the team could be stronger. You're all of a sudden at age. Forty three he's greedy and he only wants to be about money and you better pay me and Mike Giardi report makes a lot more sense to me that he cares much more about them. Upgrading grading the weapons around him breaking the bank on this contract. Yeah I'm with you this. I mean the idea of a money. Grab when you're within the marriage family structure that he's in money is not the first. There's the question of the night question with him as these reports and weeks have gone on is what is the level of interest in the Patriots treats especially bill belichick in in bringing Tom Brady back so the the idea that they would pay him. Thirty million would indicates me. It's high. It's it's high and and they're gonNA bring him back. I didn't I didn't know that and I feel like Ian. I thought there was like a chance they would go teddy bridgewater something like that. I really did. I think it's I think it has to do with what else is out there. And like Andy Dalton is not as. That's nice that people like to connect the DOTS and put Andy Dalton New England. And all this stuff by met no. It's flights it's flights out there people have little mentions of. Maybe Andy Dalton would be a fit for the cements exhaustion around this entire topic. It cannot be sealed up quickly enough either. figure it out just figured out figure. We're going to go. I don't WanNa hear another report about Klay. Biden wants to jump in I know he's he's Well he's not taking less money for the team narrative with with Brady well. But all taken it for I I mean I don't WanNa get too far in the conspiracy theories but I think Tom Brady is being compensated To the amount that he needs to to play for the New England Patriots I mean He. He owns a company. That is running and is operational and you can go. I do today At Patriot Patriot place. So that's not a conspiracy. That is I. Don't I don't know how that plays into your conspiracy. Do do think in terms of what Tom Brady wants Tom Brady wants to be wanted by the New England patriots. I I think he's a he's a guy that's obsessed with the way he's perceived with with bu the people that he works with and if they are willing to give him thirty million dollars in that says Tom we want you right once. We don't want Eighty Dalton. We don't want Hypothetically Cam Newton when we want you we love you Tom Bye. We will work out with your doctor. We will sell your wares feet away from the stadium. We love you. I mean al.. You are everything to fill. Its bill ballot check. He knows Robert Kraft wants wants to be new. England wants him. He knows Josh mcdaniels. It's the whole thing of does bill ballot L.. Check still want me. Does he still want him. I mean this is a guy. Bill ballot check who is ready to move forward with Jimmy Garoppolo of everything that came out of the whole Deflate Deflate Gate in that whole drama with Jimmy Jean after that the one. I think salient point to me as a patriots. Fan was ballots was very ready to just move forward with Jimmy Garoppolo and and so. That's in Tom. Brady's mine a couple of years later I would imagine that this guy might not want me. I still am not really sure but it might not be bill bell decision. It might be Robert Kraft decision. Let's move on.

Why won't NFL teams hire minority coaches?

"Three head. Coaching spots have been filled this week. But none of those. Three coaches were minorities while the Rooney rule has been followed. Some are beginning to believe that minority forty candidates are not being taken seriously for the open jobs and anonymous African American. NFL Assistant Coach said that the League has quote finally shown. It's not the place as for black men to advance. It's ridiculous it's disgusting. We can sell tickets and make plays but we can't lead Shannon. Why isn't the Rooney rule role working? Well I think until skip this diversity thing yeah. Diversity is a great great to talk about but until you get someone the leadership position that says you know what. I don't just want to talk about it. I want to be about it so until you get older ships that actually wants to put some substance to this and this is what that you're GonNa get now if the general manager there's one general manager that's what minority and that's CR- Chris greer in Miami. There's zero owners that are it shouldn't say minorities. I guess because shot con radically a minority. But when you get the gist of what I what. I'm trying to say until leadership gets more diverse. You're I'm not gonNA have a more diverse hiring background skills. This was puzzling to be. Is that Eric. Enemy has the exact Zac job that Matt Nagy had negative and call plays any recall. Please man they can get the job. Doug Peterson sedinko plays true. Recall to play around Rivera's on but Ron Rivera was not the defensive coordinator in Philly. He he became a D. coordinator what's he got to the D. Coordinator in Chicago. You are you in San Diego. Yeah but he got his getting these enter coaching tree. Eric B enemy has the exact same job. That Matt Nagy Doug Peterson has and he's not getting opportunity is spirit but this. I don't really think that they go into it. Unless you incentivize this. Okay if you how minorities kill we maybe you have an extra three to five five dollars and cap space. That's the only thing that resonates with these owners because I get it skipped if I spent three billion. Let's just say I spent three billion dollars for a restaurant run. You Go tell me what the hell I need to cook. Cook whatever I WanNa Cook it there. And that's how they look at it. Jerry Jones spent money for this. This this mind you oh tell me why should get killed but but this notion that Oh and they brought Muhiba Marvin Marvin Lewis. He brought him in to to do that. Situation wasted the same with the giants the giants they had irebi enemy. They what Joe Judge Chris Rashard Rashard. Excuse me Chris Restoring. Yeah so now. Now we're down to one. Vacant Cleveland Reunion. I'm talking about how good already know. Angle get no frills JAYCO network skill. He already interviewed there. So you would now now the take my name off the leader and solid rubber solid. Take my name off the list. Because he's GonNa get Mad Max two and a half years if you're lucky that seems to instead that's all Jimmy can stomach now if you look at it they keep these. You look at Mike Patton. You look at all the guys they've had and these guys have had I think. Hugh Jackson stayed the longest at two and a half years. But everybody's been two years the list huge only two and a half two and a half long but you get you get these other guys you get pretty kitchens and you look at patent and you look at a I forget. Just give all these one year jazz. WE ACHE AAC CLEVELAND. That in Cleveland of the North this skill ruining rules a joke. I get it. You know minorities Cadillac. An affirmative action thanksgiving. Yeah but in -firmative action. I guess it's federal dollars. You'RE NOT GONNA get the money if you don't do this. The NFL is a is a private entity. So what can you do. What Ki- what can you give? Nfl Do not the so. I have been tracking this for a long time because one of my best friends is John. Wooten who is now the retired leader of the Fritz Pollard. Alliance and he was the driving force behind instituting the Rooney rule as I hiring practice in the national shirow all league and John's point from the start was I just need interviews because if a young assistant coach gets interviewed a couple of times times it gets reported in his name gets out there and if another owner sees that name enough over maybe a couple of years hiring cycles else maybe an owner says chee that guy. He's getting a lot of interviews. Maybe I should bring in. Maybe I should be more open minded to him. But if you're GONNA curse because if I get a a lot of interviews and I'm not getting hired was wrong why here the me getting hired cave liability with that. But John's point in the end was I'd rather have interviews than not have interests. Okay okay so let's go back to the stat that I use last week. The Institute of Diversity and Ethics In sports twenty nine thousand nine racial and gender report card for the National Football Bali. The League got actually an a plus for hiring of color. Assistant coaches right a sit a plot. Oh that's progress right. It got a deep loss for hiring head coach of Color White eight-plus assistance d-plus head head coaches. There's a big disconnect there and it shows you. That owners are fine. Oh hire two or three black assistant fine with that but nope nope. I don't want to head coach to be black. Right gives quite to the restaurant you can cook. You'll be in the bank but Michelle not the bridge. I roll up now okay so when I texted back and forth last we can use this last week of John Wooten just beside himself now. He is devastated by this this development his point was that only one. GM Chris Grin Miami. Point out is use. John's word heartbreaking because it could start with the GM right a black GM of or of color could be more open minded to say to the owner. Hey listen this guy is really bring him in. Let me let me introduce him to you right. The conduit to the owner can be stronger. Iran have I don't know six or eight black. GM right right. We've had them around the league four or but all of a sudden there's a dearth to rape Barma with Barma within Cleveland. He'd Gone Rick Smith who I know very well be in Denver. He interviewed for The Washington. Ashington John Daniel Snyder said head coach could be a head coach. Basically general manager after the Washington like who are the head coaching after the draft. The General Mattis. Okay so sometimes there is group think or shink sheep among the owners because in the end they do want to win right. And if they're looking around the League league and that black head coaches really successful they say well I want one of those. I want to go that direction right well. There was one black head coach who started to have success late in the year ear and he happened to be allied with Chris. Clear in Miami and Brian Floors off the Patriots. Well they started out all time badge for about what seven seven games fifty. Nine seven opening renders and then they basically it felt like they turned the whole roster iside down which they needed to do and then all of a sudden the last nine games they go five and four they upset the eagles and then they went to foxborough and just basically ended the season. I thought for the new New England Patriots playoff teams right. Okay so all the sudden Brian floor floor with the help of Chris greer. They're having big success. It looks like it's headed in the right drug us us but it wasn't enough of a splash to create momentum through the hiring process and right because John Wooden again texted me back with so many names he said we have so many in the pipeline. Who already started with Eric? B Enemy and Chris Rock. I think Chris Shaw Bad Year on defense but when I watch him interviewed when I watch his body language. It's a stunt man he's he's got. CEO Written all over him. He looks like a commanding officer to me. There's not enough black head coaches skip. Because because you look you look at Mike McCarthy guest job he hires the guy that gave him his opportunity coordinator fifteen years ago so you see the circle. We'll skip once you become a head coach. What do you do you go to the combine? You go to say elbow you got your drake. He goes to the coaches meeting and Yada Yada Yada and to connect with the boom boom boom right right. So if I'm not in that Lou. How do I get into loops? Because a rid of staff they said eighty percent of the jobs are never posted so in other worth people get hired somebody a friend or family member is not what you know who you know There in live the roof. It does house so to finish John. Bruton's list of pipeline candidates being AMEE. Chris Rashard Robert Sala. He threw Jim Caldwell on his list. Is Jim Colwell was highly successful zestful. Jim called wheel lost his jaw. Going nine and seven in two years Matt Patricia has nine total win and he's still got a job now he goldwell still doesn't have another job he in four years. He went to the playoffs twice in the last year he went nine and seven and they said well you know we need to move in a different direction. uh-huh and the guy that's replaced has yet to win nine total games in two years. Do you still own a still on the clock. Okay Steve wilks got one shot in time. I'm one year in Arizona and he was gone. He's now the defensive coordinator in Cleveland which probably didn't help his cause this year that much but I don't hear his name no in Cleveland right right on the list. And then there's Terrel Austin who's young stripes potential star coach and John Wootton into his list with Marvin Lewis who he thinks deserves a second shy right. Okay so Jerry. Jones did observe in qualified for the Rooney rule by bringing in. I Marvin Lewis. I think Jerry was shrewd operating waiting there. Because he didn't pick a young like like Chris Rashard type interview him because of Jerry had interviewed a young potential upcoming head. Black coach right. There's more pressure on Jerry. What was wrong with right? What's the problem exactly? He went to Marvin Lewis because he thinks Marvin Lewis is kind of old news right right. He got his longtime time shot in Cincinnati. Listen I still think Marvin did a good job job seriously. Yes okay he went. Oh and seven in the playoffs but still it was Andy Dalton Alton you re you with covering the NFL and you remember what Cincinnati before. Marlene got there was John. Carter number one overall. You Got David Cleland with the fourth. The fourth picket. You got big day to day and Wilkerson purse around the second pick in the draft year after year after a year people. Forget what I know. Marvin didn't win a playoff game. But they weren't even getting close to the playoffs for Marvin got there. No so I was disappointed in Jerry because you know my heart Hartz. I'd love to see Jerry Jones higher black head coach and I think I probably won't live long enough or Jerry will live long enough to know.

Week 14 Fantasy Football Injury Report

"Falcons have a game against the panthers this weekend. They did not have. Julio Jones on Thursday they did not have often hooper for the last few weeks. Do you think we'll see hooper or Julio this week I think Hooper is trying to target this for his comeback. So this'll be four weeks. So hopefully Hooper will make it back for the fantasy football playoffs here. Julio is if you're Julio could've played Thanksgiving game I think with an injection. But you know he had an AC joint spraying a separated shoulder. But you know to be fair to. Julio he's their franchise is guy and it's a lot to ask someone when the team only has three wins clearly out of it to take an injection to play the game so I think Julio can and will return turn this season but only when he can play through without an injection or anything like that all right well. The latest we saw Dan Quinn said he was trending upward in terms of his availability for this week's game so we'll keep our fingers crossed on Julio Jones and obviously if he's out was certainly look at Russel Gage. Adam feeling not gonNA play tonight against the Vikings on Monday night football or excuse me against the seahawks. He won't play against the Vikings either but it's a bit of a tease for Adam feeling. I'm sure he wants to get one hundred present healthy. We've seen him have some setbacks. What are we looking at with dealing? Yeah and I think that's the point hamstrings. You can make it worse. The last thing you WanNa do is play Laham in Seattle and Havoc get worse or a setback and miss him for the rest of the arrest of December. So I think they're doing the smart thing remember number. He tried to come back early and had a setback when he started. I think the second week after his injury and then even this last week amid week he had a little bit a setback. So For me once you know shame on you for me twice shame on me so. I don't think the Vikings are going to be fooled with more setbacks. That's why they didn't even bring him on the trip to Seattle so that probably it would take away the temptation of feeling lobbying everyone to try and play but I think he does have a chance. That's next week to play okay. Fingers crossed certainly fingers crossed therefore for Adam feeling and how about. Aj Green. John Ross is going to be active this week. Aj Green will he come back. I mean we could be looking at some big weapons here for Andy Dalton but we haven't seen AJ green this year. We'll week fourteen. Be The week take. I don't know If the If the Bengals were playing for something I think A. J. Green could be ready He's probably in the nineties but he's not a hundred a month ago when everyone thought he was coming back and he said his ankles swelled up with sore. I saw him. I did see directly likely but I saw video of him working out pre game and at that point in early November I said shoot. He looked right on his left ankle at all. He's going to be another month month now. That month has passed and I think he could be ready to go but the words out of there is a green saying. Look I WANNA be a hundred percent when I come back. And that's a high threshold and with nothing really to play for right now I. I'm not sure that he plays until he really is close to one hundred percent and I thought that he would want to play to be able to show the world as the interest rate and see what he can do but in a discussion. I had serious with With Mark Dominik former jam the bucks he says if he were GM easing enough out of AJ during in the past each side into big deal just physical sight unseen on the field so You know War to think about there in terms of if it went aged green will come back.

"It's because a it's because cordy Glenn back it's because John Rawson. Aj Green Comeback. Maybe even John Williams. There's I mean he's he's not on. I R he's on pup so oh who knows what's happening there there's jeff obstinate bengals dot com. You know kind of mentions his name here and there is a potential guy that could be available. Come December. What if those this guys come back? Andy Dot light it up kind of looks like the quarterback that we had hoped to see in. Zack Taylor offense. Hello and the Bengals Win They win some games entirely possible by the way because they've got the jets coming up. They've got the dolphins coming up two games against the BROWNS. There's a winnable stretch of games. And it sounds like Taylor's committed to anti starting the rest of the year for better for worse wet wet then goes into the decision. Asian is this you know. Say Say ENGDAHL has a high degree of Success S. in these final few games because of other factors factors the team had planned on relying upon at the at the onset of the year so and it cost him a few draft spots and they don't have that number one spot anymore because they'd be say they beat Cleveland once or twice a beat Miami. They beat the jets and all of a sudden there are. There are few spots down. And you don't have Joe Borough at your disposal unless you want to trade. A heavy arsenal pixel We all know the Bengals don't like to do that. What happens then? Do you take a a to a Justin Herbert a few spots later and in the case of to you let him heal up and you Have Andy Dalton under contract for a final year and you ride with Andy Dalton Wall to heels up. Learns the offense in the in the case of Herbert. So do you He didn't play well last weekend. And it's got a lot of people including myself Kinda questioning some things about him. Do you do with him do you do a Carson Palmer. John King Situation. You draft adjusting Herbert. You'll have them set. And you haven't learned behind Andy Dalton and you have your Ride Dalton in twenty twenty and Herbert's either your guy later in twenty you give him a shot. If the if the season goes down the tubes again or twenty twenty one you pass the baton to him like you did with a kitten in Palmer all of this all of these hypotheticals rely on Dalton playing well so few games but and that the may not even be an issue maybe on issue he may He may play just the same if not worse than he did to start the season. But if you are antidote and you're probably pretty pissed off about how this whole thing has been handled you wanted to be traded around the time you were going to be benched now. Not only are you playing with a chip on your shoulder. You may be feeling like you are auditioning for other teams for a trade next offseason. And that's where you're play elevates especially with some of these guys coming back what what are the Bengals do at that point. I know it's easy to say. Oh well you move on from anyway and I am inclined to agree agree with that but it costs you. Picks and draft slotting if it if he does show the promise that you had hoped to see out of him with with these pieces in the Taylor offense if he if they show that promise. It's it really isn't from a coaching perspective. To say okay by the IT really isn't I mean I. I've been in those shoes. NFL Head coaching shoes. But I've been in coaching positions. Where you think you've given up on somebody give them a second chance outstanding playing better in all of a sudden your eyes are opened a little bit and you go? Wow it's not so easy to just cut this guy or put him back on the bench. Tom I still think this whole this needs to be this. This team kind of as of two thousand twenty needs to be start starting over from scratch in terms of quarterback and whatnot. I I don't know where Andy Dalton's heads if if Andy Dalton ends up sticking around in twenty twenty based on the scenarios that I laid out where he he won a few games at the end of the year the Bengals is cost himself some draft positioning instead of getting Joe Borough they get they end up going to a Herbert route letting them develop for a half year to a year before taking over I. I don't even know what dolphins head space would be at that point. I don't know I don't know where he would be at their I. I think this is. I think Tom Volunteer says in the The live facebook replace. The play. Caller will play. Caller Zack Taylor. So if you want to replace him from that role only you're going to need to give that roll off to Brian Callaghan or you're going to need to get rid Brian Callaghan and hire somebody else. Maybe it's Van Pelt them. I don't know the answer to that but I will say this. I do think in cutter Thomas here. kind of mentioned this on facebook. I think if if if everything else held up the same way in terms of the running game performance in terms of the defensive performance of the last two Games Cincinnati would have won those those last last two games and if Dalton was quarterback Cincinnati would have beat the raiders. And they would've won. They would have beat the steelers. Yesterday I'm fairly confident in saying that and I think if maybe some of those things we're working a little bit better. When Dalton started the Bengals may have said three wins? Four wins total at this point. I don't know what that does for you I guess it makes you feel a little bit better about Zack Taylor. And his staff going forward it does obviously put the bengals in a worse this position for draft slotting so A lot here. We're GONNA talk more about this Wednesday but as of now in week. Thirteen Ryan Ryan Finley is benched Ryan. Finley's benched and Andy Dalton. is now the starting quarterback. So he's got I five games to kind of show what he's got left and Zack Taylor has got five games to try. And get some wins and put himself off in the good graces of fans and ownership and and prove that he can be a guy that can lead a team but a eh for now this just. This looks like a mess from the outside looking in. It looks like a mess. It looks like this organization. It looks like aw indecisiveness and that does not point to a lot of promise going forward. Both Zack Taylor in Cincinnati Cincinnati. Bengals again I'm Anthony Costanza as I mentioned you can get this program on a number of different audio platforms I tunes Stitcher spotify. "You have any particular the strength that you think translates really well to this new style of offense or is it similar to anything you've done in the past. I feel like i've heard mentioned that it's kind of like what you did with us and pieces of what you it <hes> i would. I honestly i wouldn't compare it to anything that we did with huge. It's a lot different. I think you know this offense. You get the ball your hands quick you. You throw on the move and stuff that i do well until <hes>. I feel like that stuff really fits with everything that we're doing that. Extending plays in scramble is that's been the biggest thing that the heart behind you to improve in several scheme or what's the biggest thing that even need to like improving hansen your game. I think it's just at this point is just master in this offense the known exactly what what we're doing like. I'm there now you know you had. The offseason had ninety ninety five percent of the installs in now so so i think now it's just making sure everybody's comfortable seems like the n._f._l. Is talking about responding to twelve personnel more bustan nickel is that that's something you guys are pretty aware of and preparing you go into the season. I know you've talked a lot about during a lot of eleven stuff last year you guys are second in the league and eleven personnel behind the ran's though with your tight end up with some of the injuries early in the season that's near excited for attacking like getting into the white clay running game maybe to attack people standing there yeah eh if you're a nickel and we're in toll personnel i mean you should have the advantage when you run the ball and you know we've had that before with the wants to wants tyler's into game love teams have put twelve or put nichols air force and i'll just because of the past threats he is so but when you do that you got to be able to run the ball because <hes> you you got the size advantage so we've heard reports that ryan finley struggle earlier but he's been doing a lot better recently. What do you think is led to his improvement. It's it's just time in the system. Your rookie had things i get you. You get to try to figure out how this whole thing works and <hes> rhinestone well. He's got he's got all the skills that you want and so <hes> ryan's gonna be just fine. Talk about team will listen just how he's like progress over on another guy that's like he's got tools tools. He's got stuff that you feel like you can really work with and i mean he's impressed. <hes> i think he's he's done great. When the ball is come as ways he knows where he needs to be and so once these preseason games but we'll see how these guys out one of my favorite throws to watch you execute is throwing to tyler right for me conceal linebacker's name plate. What's your favorite throw to make. That's a good one when the number of pick somebody's back. He's down to one thing we feel like with with guys like cam and a._j. And t._v. and all these guys we got to give them a chance chance they'll make the play. That's one of them when you can get down the red zone and do throw a high ball the tyler and the vaccine zone though j._j.
