"For being here course. So tell everyone. What does we do? We knew is a really simple life planner for students. And Yeah, it's as simple as that. I I love it. It's literally can be summed up in one sentence. How did it come to be? Yeah. So you know, I grew up with kind of Iraqi educational background kicked out of fifth grade. I had really bad 80 HD, um not so pleasant O C d. And so for me and the whole educational realm. It was just a stressful process and what I thought was it was just me. It was just me was having this kind of stressful experience in high school and college. And when I went to college, I kind of realized that it wasn't just me. Everyone else around me was in this really stressful situation. And, you know, extracurriculars now are not extra. It's just kind of this mandated, you know, thing that every student has to get around. So what we saw as an opportunity was, how can we solve the stress for for college kids and, more importantly, just in general? And that's what kind of brought up the idea of building like a life planner. So I know this isn't your first business. Tell me a little bit about your entrepreneurial journey. Yeah, so I started my first kind of business. I was really into the video game called World War Craft. Which I think is still still around and thriving. I believe so. But we made a private server where people can join on and play and donate money to us, and that was kind of my first entrepreneurial venture. Then, after that, I started a review blog website and that was called elite nerds. They got a million and a half to use the first month and this is before this whole, like, you know, Engadget and the Virgin. That whole scene was kind of pop in So that was kind of my first take on like, you know, consumer products and something in that space, and I looked at that. And I said, you know, great. I think I could do a better app than a lot of these guys. And I made an APP called APP list, which was Before Android could create backup someone you created. When you sign on to a new phone you have you have none of Europe's so everything would kind of start up from scratch. And I said, that's a problem. So I made an app called APP Elice that was featured a bunch and now basically transfer all of Europe's from one phone to another. Um, and then I started my first software company. When I was 14 years old, called unparalleled software, and we made a top one selling medical app in the top 10 selling productivity app and I rode that until college, which is when I started. We do Wow. Amazing! Such a young entrepreneur! Very cool. So let's take a break from talking about your journey to play this game. Someone is very disruptive in your company in a bad way. But they're great at what they do. Keep them. Fire them. Definitely fire them. How many hours do you sleep tonight? I'd say solid eight. I love it. Do you work weekends? Yes. What is the first thing you do when you wake up usually checked my slack. Arema, you and many other entrepreneurs. What rules You live by. I like to be respectful to everyone. That's definitely my philosophy on a scale from 1 to 10. How weird are you? I'd say, probably a 9.5. When did she was like, Wow, that's oddly high specific. Why partly because robots are hard to make and not very profitable but also because of rubin's departure from the company in two fourteen after being accused of sexual misconduct which google kept secret at the time. Since replicates failure the company has focused more on the software side of things using machine learning to teach robots to manipulate objects without direct supervision. Are Smart Phone Apps Ripping You Off?

"Both apple and google are being sued all over the place for how they run their stores. The app store the play store and what these two have been doing. Is they use their shared monopoly control over the ecosystem of phones to put up tollgates to rip you off a lot of cases. You're not even aware how much you're being ripped off their when you download an app that comes with this subscription or purchases. It's marked up an additional thirty percent for the toll that they have to pay the app. Developer has to pay to google or apple and this is so different than the era of the pc. The mac book the windows. Computer the chromebook that when you go to a website you use any function on your computer apple and google and the people who manufacturer chromebooks and all that they don't extract a toll and so the cost of anything you pay goes to who built that service now. This is a huge deal with apple self-dealing trying to rip people off on pandora and especially spotify to try to get iphone users to use apple music. It is true self-dealing where apple is able to grab all this money and google just as guilty in this area and microsoft who quietly has become one of the most valuable companies in the world again. I mean nobody really thinks about microsof- but microsoft has come up with a way to get around this on phones. That probably has google and apple. People furious where they've got a platform they've developed. Where on a phone. You'll be able to access things web-based that operate like apps and avoid the rip off thirty percent. Add on that you have to pay right now in the app store or in the play store and so no that with apps you're using that you're paying usually much more than you have to

Was Voice Control a Goal for the Kindle3? Brad Stone Author of Amazon Unbound - Voicebot Podcast Ep 214 - burst 09

"The only thing that i learned that i hadn't heard about before. Was that it could be that the original idea for alexa came. As part of the kindle is a feature so. I think that was new from your book. I hadn't heard that the past that someone w- the jeff wanted to integrate voice commands into the kindle at one point. They finally talked about it because it wouldn't be able to ship it time. I don't know that that was the inspiration for alexa but it to me was a symbol of his apparent faith in voice as an interface. And there was this question that some reviewers headed the time. And i remember wondering about why was there a microphone in the third version of the kindle and it was never it was never used at i went to some engineers who worked at it and they were like yet. Jeff insisted that we keep it even when we were trying to reduce the bill of materials and he says and the word came back to them. Jeff believes that in the future will communicate by voice so it was just as a signal that back in whenever that kindle came out i think like two thousand and two thousand nine that basis was thinking about voice But it wasn't until and again this was. It was really hard to kind of piece together. What the original inspiration was and fokin heart. And sorry ian freed and greg hardy who worked very closely together. They actually tell different stories about this. About what the and you know. Would You Add Your Driver's License to Your iPhone?

"Was fifteen is going to update the iphones wallet app and it allow you to add several things including your driver's license or other personal. Id as well as other items including your car keys or your house keys. If they're compatible apple says the feature could be useful. If say you're at the airport you hit a tsa security checkpoint and instead of reaching for your physical driver's license or other id you can just whip out your phone and scan it directly in the newsletter. I wrote about how. I'm really not ready for that kind of commitment on my phone. I thought i already get anxious about losing my phone with what i already have on it. Which is email social media and stuff the thought of having my driver's license and my house keys and car keys and everything else just. I'm already worried about it. And i've not even in that situation yet. The other thing too. Is you know if i want to android for example even though yeah you can remotely wipe your phone and do things like that. It's still feels like there's a lot of effort you have to take if you've added all these features and then you want to switch and then you've got to dial it back Several readers responded on twitter. Here a couple of the more interesting ones besides the ones that suggested. I can't use my phone properly. Which i get it. It's fine it's okay. Twitter user fuser writes maybe step through the looking glass and viewed from the other side. Imagine if you lost your driver's license wouldn't it. Be nice to have it in your iphone while working on getting a replacement yes. That's absolutely convenient. I i like that idea. Another really interesting comment from johnny red beard. People have been carrying around that same information in one spot for a long time. If a lady leaves her purse somewhere she probably lost her. I d house car keys credit cards etc with an iphone. Worst case scenario. You just erase it or remotely. I totally agree. It's very convenient. It can be very useful in situations like that. I just am very i. I feel like this comes up a lot technology where we love the convenience but then we sometimes forget about the were surrendering lot of ourselves to these devices. And i think that's a matt where it's like. I'm i'm not ready for that type of sharing of my information yet with my iphone

Google May Be Working on an Android Version of Apple’s “Find My” Network

"Developers found code in the latest google. Play services beta. Sdk that indicates google's developing a fine my device network using play services to code strings described service called. Find my device. Network with the description allows your phone to help locate you and other people's devices you are other people's devices it's just an ap k. reference so it doesn't guarantee it's ever gonna be released just that google has at least made a policewoman. We're title and re written description for. Google also has a fine my device app in the play store but it only finds devices that are signed into your google account so this would be taking it some step further but xda points out that there are more than three billion devices running android the majority of which are phones. Meaning google's find my network has the potential to be quite comprehensive. Should it roll out.

"Over on the android developers blog over Google <hes> very excited because <hes> saw that android eleven for android TV is here, , which is very exciting. . Introduce android eleven on android TV was the name of the the blog posts. . No super exciting, , and it's only sort of now <hes>. . Basically, , it includes permissions privacy features in memory management for android eleven it will also support for <unk> provide support for low latency mode on certain TV's it's got an expanded gamepad support including the <unk> tend to switch pro controller steam controller. . Also a silent BOOT MOOD FOR SYSTEM UPDATES TV standby for an activity. . No mentions at all. . Of any UI changes at the moment <hes>, , this whole update was actually more meant for developers those way more under the hood than the front end side of it <hes> men currently only one devices supported the ADT three <hes>. . They stay teas that more devices are coming in the coming months <hes> but good question as we're on the eve. . Presumably on the eve of the presumably run the eve of the announcement <hes> around Google's new roll out from the Pixel five all the way down a google chrome cast. . What does this mean for Google chrome cast with Google TV device? ? Is it GonNa Launch the android eleven? ? Who knows <hes> we go to wait and see but I like all this activity around Android TV Jason, , what do you think makes? ? <hes> makes of the impending comcast announcement. . I don't know because I seem to remember there was that leak that said Oh yeah. The . Sabrina device is gonNA come out and it's going to have android Lebanon. . It's GonNa. . Look totally different Blah Blah Blah. . This really unless Google is just kind of like taking us for a ride a week ahead of of the announcement <hes> this just feels like it won't last launch with android eleven <hes>. . So I'm not entirely sure what this means for the U I and and for this device this device then to launch with android ten and still be called ANDROID TV because it won't be rebrand or. . I don't now I guess we won't know until next week when they actually officially announce it but we do know the name of this device is going to be the google chrome cast with Google. . TV, , that makes me think that there's some sort of branding change shifting away from android TV Google TV, , which would make me think that there would be a change to the UI in some capacity but. . I don't know I mean. . I feel like do for changes I mean I I I'm probably saying this out of several months now of using ANDROID TV and being tired of the you it but. . I do think it's do but if it's not if it's not that point in time, , then we just continued to wait but but I do think that it could use a refresh <hes> this point. . So yeah. . Well I do too <hes> and and at the same time I'm very curious to see the device that was supposedly going to be running android. . So has the eighty three well, , not nobody developers have the ADT three it's a developer box it's not a consumer product. . It's not something you can go into a store and buy. . So really we're just waiting <hes> find out more, , but this is <hes> early. . More more coming. . So that's always good to know that more is coming. . Yes. . Oh Yeah of course both. .

"Makes it a little bit of sense. But Timmy got trump who hates Jeff bezos will never allow that to happen so much. I've actually kind of makes sense here. So initially, it was much want to buy Canada and New Zealand. Stralia. News. Australia, yeah and that was gone and then. And now is that now talks apparently would hire and Marxist wanted to buy. Basically, all of including Europe in India where it's currently now banned. The place it wouldn't have it is China. In tackling China, I guess it operates on our different name anyway but it would be so be the global business for tiktok outside of China that marks it'd be easier for them to control messaging trolley algorithms, all that kind of stuff. That's the plan. Microsoft wanted I think it actually makes. Get. TIKTOK is it's not a consumer product. I know people say that it's an advertising platform. That's they need twenty billion dollars last year and e commerce and advertising. If Mark Software to buy this, go from pretty low in advertising right up there with Google and facebook in terms of levels and that only grown one hundred, eighty percent year over year growth from two thousand and nineteen two, thousand, eighteen to nineteen. It's just absolutely massive. In fact talk so big if you combine instagram and was it no snapchat and twitter. If you combine those two things it would have almost as many daily active users as Tiktok does, which is pupils people's minds because twitter is so high profile. The fact is twitter doesn't actually have that many users daily active users compared to even like I said, they brought I think a little bit less than half of Tiktok. So this is a really a massive think but that's where the money's being made from. It's advertising much of actually doesn't need to change anything here. They just need that team, run it and then. They just collect the revenue advertising even if they're rumored to pay. Tiktok, as a whole, the global companies rumored to be around fifty billion dollars, you pay forty billion Ford or whatever in theory that can make all that money back in two years right. So it's like it's a really lucrative deal negatively on the flip side to this. It's kind of A. Really shoddy thing to be like. mugs up's going to be able to buy tick tock solely because US garments threatening this company basically put them out of business or you sell to US company like China. Did that China came in and went like facebook we're going to completely block you and destroy your company or you sell to our Chinese company. I don't think Americans would be like Oh. That's fine. That's cool. I. Don't see any problem with it. To be fair like facebook isn't allowed to operating China true. So He don't even get to that point but yeah, your point's well taken in brings up Europe right. So like Europe is actually I think people being United States were very fixated on Silicon Valley, like Oh, it's amazing. We have facebook Google. We're the masters of the universe when it comes to Internet Technology Europe isn't so cool with that. You don't love the idea that all the core that world for online is in Silicon Valley and their companies don't even get a chance to really kind of compete because suzy are rising to get bought out right.

"Ooh. Alright. So I wanNA talk a little bit about Microsoft and Samsung sitting in a tree 'cause this company like Microsoft and Samsung have fostered a pretty close relationship of last couple of years. You see bits and pieces it started with the might with. Microsoft. Putting its APPs on Samsung devices than Microsoft's selling. Samsung, phones in its stores you've had exclusive a software. Partnerships including most recently with your phone. You can now mirror APPs on a Samsung device. You can't do that with any other a android phone on a windows PC. So I just want to talk about the the way that this partnership got off the ground and how it was doing. Microsoft was doing this in plain sight of Google knowing that this is a sort of a side hustle between these two very large companies while also taking advantage of being on this open android platform and it was very interesting to me that onstage during the unpacked events or whatever it was, it wasn't an event to his more like a spectacle. Samsung talked about how its relationship with Microsoft and Google have both strengthened over the last couple of years. Microsoft with all of these APP experiences Google with soccer updates and kind of like making android core android better on Samsung phones. And that would would not have happened just two or three years ago. Right? Samsung is in a better position. Now, more comfortable position to talk about things that way. Speak to the Microsoft relationship and how that came to be and how it's grown to what it is today. Yeah you know I would love to midnight fly on the wall during those talks both internally at Microsoft and between mark up and Samsung. This goes back Assadullah to his different take on the company is very different from bomber bomber. I know people revere bomber but and he was good at some things but he had his failures too and he tried to take the company in the Apple Way Right, which is walled garden. You're at war with everybody and you want to destroy everybody so that your products when as they're like will we don't WanNa do ipod the ipod we'll do zoom we don't want to do you know we'll do our own phoned. And it didn't work right like it just didn't work. You can save. If you look at all the failures that everybody loves to bring up to me all the time. Those are all balmer heiress stuff cooling windows phone I know Nidal, technically killed the project he when he came in, he gave that team free rein. All right. Well to your windows ten mobile will see where this goes and they did and it didn't go anywhere.

"On other another tuesday ready for android fun time that's right android fun time starts now florence is not feeling well so she is not joining us as we will miss flow hello well soon get well soon but returning to the show it's been it's been a while it's been a couple of years francisco franco awesome developer android developer and just a classic guest on this show welcome back to the show francisco hey guys nice to be back it's really great to have you back one of the more notorious guests of all that andrew in history one could say say his his well there have been a couple more enforcement kiss uh-huh but none speak their mind quite as well as you do francisco you're going to be on ooh excellent this is going to be fun yes good time francisco on cannot forget that simpson doesn't care you made up for because then on your follow up episode i think the even the title was franscisco cares after all so you know you've come full circle it's all good it's good to have you on your totally sacrificing your evening in your sleep because it's one AM where you are and we really appreciate when when folks like you i agreed to do that i don't know that i would be so willing to wake up a. for a podcast but i'm so happy that you are it's really great to have you back on and how we have a lot of fun stuff to talk about we do each and every week i would say this week is kinda news light ish but we've got some heavy hardware where stuff yeah we did a lot of come out but were like past like we're we're pre holidays so like new hardware to buy for the holidays are out there and there's not a lot of announcements announcements and this is like the prec s time periods so it's it's going to get we're starting to quiet period unfortunately yeah things slow down a little bit but that that won't stop stop us from talking about things that people want to know about just louise ahead do have the stadium here and we're gonna talk about it in a little bit but i i don't want to deprive victor of his opportunity it's time for the news since episode one we've been notorious glorious for android fun time on android news notorious tate fun time so i like leveraging what what has happened on the show l. already but victor did you have one plan and then you throw it out the window or did you not have were you not prepared good question ron let's just say had something to do about rolling out stuff but like rolling out android news or okay i had prepared but you saw a better opportunity you went for it i like it good similar similar to how google has a has a new thing and they're going for it for the better segue my head but it is a new dawn for messaging aging as google finally did what a probably should have done a year ago and rolled out debuted our CS chat as a replacement for SMS on an android after much talking about our CS and back and forth the carriers and all this stuff google flip the switch and made it available to all in the US they already made it available in the UK and france this past june they were they waited in the US for carriers to come round but the carriers as we've discussed previous episode drag their feet and actually indicated indicated they're going to go and other in their own direction so google's now using its own servers to enable our CS instead once the carriers launched their own or which is known as the CPI or cross carrier messaging initiative in two thousand twenty the transition should hopefully be seamless supported and it requires the use of android messages messages and so some interesting notes related to this also samsung messages other defaults messages apple samsung does support our CS but only provided by the carrier and each each model supported separately so sam uses would also need to use android messaging messages to benefit apple still has not said whether plans to support it at all or or not support it we don't either direction it's not encrypted end to end but it isn't scripted in transit so technically it's possible for google to build in and ed encryption but that all depends on getting the aid who agree to that change and carriers have to be on board with that change which seems unlikely given the past kind of the precedence of up to this point but hey is here it's changing the world for the better francisco how do you feel about the google messaging being in this approach to this is something that you think is overdue or does it not matter to you can i curse probably not depends on the word careful i think well i i'm not arguing that whatsoever it's really been a clumsy kind approach clumsy rollout and for for at this point for google to finally just be like okay we're rolling it out anyways just makes it feel like why didn't you do this before but but back that up why why do you call it an s. show or whatever though of i mean really started has been pretty bad at anything that's related to who've messaging yes i believe i i'm not much into our stuff by the stadium even growing before maybe they weren't ready or older a guys they built for the curious to us or ready so i'm just guessing but either that they took their time and actually may make it work properly and not be and i think it's it's it's it's a good choice but as long as hangouts is dead i'm just happy with it you don't you don't you don't like gang outs at this point you're happy that it's dying seemed to rely on it for some weird reason for at least parts of mike communication but i mean for me it's been a nightmare this past few years received thousands and thousands of spam mm-hmm messages related to poor i mean it's bad about imagine i'm using hang on my in computer my wife just next to me received some random message for what some naked person i mean it's not nice yeah so i had to just turn completely and i think google just messed messed it up absolutely all the time and they just they just like to add messaging to everything on youtube message that stuff i mean enough is enough is enough but but the thing is is that at least at least with our CS and and i totally agree i agree with you francisco it is it is a the show but i don't feel like it's completely google to blame i feel like the carriers are the problem with this is that it needs to be the and everyone in solution or it's going to be a problem and with apple not saying indicating either direction and the carriers branch off doing their i think it just continues this fragmentation that we see across the mobile the mobile market that we can't you know the reason why SMS works because it worked on every phone everyone use the same protocol the protocol has been around since the eighties and it was ubiquitous and with everybody kind of wanting to own the you know this whole idea of owning their own you know kind of protocol or platform platform whatever it's not consumer friendly it's continue are just having this conversation the other day we were i was talking actually to my wife about cell phones and you know more more and more the manufacturers and even in even the especially the carriers but even google and apple are not consumer i in a lot of their decisions asians and it's really baffling because these are the people using the phones but they're making decisions that either you know are are overly benefiting themselves or making you are our consumer hostile decisions that is really unfortunate i kinda kinda wonder if they should as much as would because they've already lost to what's up and all those other messaging systems so i wonder if they have the motivation to to to push it budget yeah i really do i think it should be something that's the same for all carriers all countries like a mess but i think we we have cassini for awhile been using for longer than a year prongs so i wonder if american carriers as always artist on purpose i think that's absolutely what what has happened is the the carriers have no fire lit under them or they had in mind well well we don't want to do it your way we wanna do it our way and that's why they came up with their own cross carrier messaging initiative the good news here at least in the US is that with google rolling it out now everybody hops on as long as they're using android messages they get access to that i got the update that said hey it's it's available to you now it really does boggle my mind why google just didn't do that in the first place because then everybody would have been there earlier and once the carriers do launch their own initiative apparently the transition will be seamless so you know messages still also yes with a little giggle because when is it ever seamless but you know that will be supported within messages as well and that transition will happen hopefully we don't we aren't any the wiser it's just now it works over here here instead of over here but it's all from within the same app and everything and that's what we can hope for anyways but what about all those vices that don't cheap messages cheaper their own folk version or off the air SAP gee what about what's arthur yeah i mean that's that's a really great question right like it's it's all totally tied into this particular app you know service run by google google the phone doesn't have it there to begin with i guess it defaults to SMS and it's the way that it has been and what does that and it's still a fragmented kind of place where some are getting this and others are getting a limited experience you know i mean you can get google messages from the blister not everyone knows what it is where donald too right i mean not everyone likes to get apps from the play store so it's going to be a mess or or if if you're a user who's using textra using any other messaging apps that are out there you're not going to get to leverage this and not everybody who uses android watches this show or reads android blogs or whatever it might be so yeah the communication the ramp up is going to be limited as well all too i happen to be google messages as i cool sweet but i don't know if it's working for like well how do you tell if you're using it or not well you can go go into settings in it'll showroom i mean do this without showing things so here's settings on my my app oppose chat features here it is so i hit chat features and i get chat features unavailable for this device carried is not currently support this feature so you haven't had add this this staged roll out update that supposedly everybody is getting right now i did get mine but yeah and what carrier are you on t. mobile not mobile not that that would matter because this is coming directly from google but yeah and as far as third party messenger messaging apps i have to imagine if our CS us at this point that probably moves it up on the list for those as well so i can't imagine like android messages will always be the only messaging app on android android that supports our sierras talk about a dead plan if that's the case so google would want for other messaging app developers to to build this functionality into their apps as well.

"Yeah so i don't wanna get too caught up in i don't wanna get caught up in the concept of a streaming service versus agoo a music app on android because it's very easy to fall into the trap of like well this service offers this features and all those are important but for this case i want to have the lens of a socking about it on android does that make sense yeah yeah well i think i think an important part of that conversation is just the fact that when we used to talk about music on android allot years ago android as a platform was a very different place right and the conversation very often was this is valuable over there but it isn't available over here or what we have is either fee limited or the design really stinks and i think that by and large like they're they're very much on par now between let's say irs android from a design standpoint from a features and just availability standpoint all of those services now coexist on both on both sides of the coin i mean even with apple music emerging on accurate now it's more i wanna say copacetic but it's more what's the word i'm looking for more even across all platforms ever yeah so yeah all right so let's start things off so google play music is the obvious choice that's my audio platform of choice as of now i don't know about you guys but we'll get on to be honest i'm not a big fan of the app i don't actually like the direction has taken in recently.

"Using it as much you know i and i you know i'm not an organization that uses that sort of thing this the functionality would allow for calls from any android device not only android phones so that will include tablets as well kind of the way that i message works you know between like ipads and phones limited roaming charges by opting for wifi calling sort of mobile networks also another great thing i find that i'm probably going to be using this sort of overseas i imagine which would be which is typically what i do when i go overseas magoo voice number one big downside though is that it will not work for ob high devices which is hardware that use utilizes google voice services for voip calls and by the way google this after i saw this note today did you hear about i mean do you are you aware of the oba high devices i've never used them but i've definitely heard of them in wondered like people you know it's like a small community but people swear by them no i i i thought they were just components actually i've never heard but there are those who are millier void that also this functionality would not tap into the phone app so this is for calling directly from the google voice app which right you know i'm in that routine whose voice which is interesting because i mean with google voice i feel like you could couldn't you rope it through the dialer or no i guess you had to pull up hang out styler in order to to make those calls specifically there used to be able to have the option for instance when i would make a call internationally the dialer would automatically ask if i wanted to.

"Yeah i think this is a good thing though i mean this could get need a switch to messages i just really wish there was andrew messages doesn't have a backup utility built into it so like i could live without cross device think i could just back everything up every time i switch i know that you can use the android backup tool but you know everybody's backup to on every phone is like different laws that there is a dozen walks in doesn't uh android or yo have sms back up it does um in fee if you're using vanilla i believe and so on the euro point one devices that have or you guys act of heffer exel's right now you know been going from like a pixel to the may ten pro a i don't think you have any message sync yet i think it's just for pixels yeah so my i think that that's it it's a nice idea i i think the having itself contains you know would be nicer i i do think there's probably you know google seems to want to avoid the same thing that apple avoids which is keeping any of your messages in the cloud which is diamond bad and did stoop like routes the whole reason hangouts was so attractive for so long as you could just use any device and just worked the latest up where he left off firmly in friday is that still the main a s mess up that google well i don't think they recommend you use anymore but the s smith sink still works so i still get all of my text i think it only works for people using project five right yeah aren't also everyone else yeah and that is definitely a happy solution so i'm guessing google you now is just hoping that eventually rcs has got a pan out and that android messages will you know slowly but surely become a fully featured chat app because just like hangouts you know probably they can i won i wonder if there's a way with rcs if they could kind of virtual lies the process and release you know messages app for other platforms were basically go.

"It is at laguardia ridic royale looks like an actual cookie so well done samsung in a in a few other fixes as well the whole the whole set just looks better obviously this is not supporting the ones that were just announced a few days ago those are going to be coming in in the android p update later this year which sampson will get in 2002 2003 so oh well but at least eur pixels well no is they've updated to oreo no no no i mean the so unit code eleven the one that was actually announced like last week that that will be coming in iowa's twelve and it'll be coming with android p or the latest version of igf asia's here so they they've earned new version of the unit code types that yeah unit koto is up to gets the the new release always gets announced early in the year so that it gives to apple and all the other companies google time to to implement them some really interesting ones like a kangaroo had there will be redhaired equivalence of people now so you can actually acknowledge that redhaired people are are real so there's like at a whole set of of redhaired people it's fantastic i should like kuhn which is close to my heart in toronto have cas were overrun with them what is it lettuce toilet paper cupcake lettuce a hot face cold face um they're just gonna start getting so granularity that is just going to be possible this to discern them when you when you start to throw in these little ensure intricate differences between manufacturers era euro as manufacturers hold is a good while there's a woosie face so when you come to work drunk you just have to say the put out the easy fake whizzy face emoji and we will know what's going on i think my neighbor coral made these new emojis after what we did friday night and he was all lit up.

"Yeah this isn't anything new wiese as andrew said we saw this from samsung when android was new they have two options they can either change it and get more people in the west to accept it or they can convince people in the west that this is really good samsung did a little bit of both and they were very successful that means any company can do at samsung is you know there are huge company they have tons of money for all of their different interests but that doesn't mean any other company can't do the exact same thing if they really want to yeah that's true so we'll leave the oneplus discussion there i think we've exhausted it a little bit but also i think the feedback that warm pluses received notches from you jerry but from a lot of a north american and european media is that it needs to be cognizant of the way that it's chinese specific changes um look to the rest of the world if only because there are people who don't trust one plus and will pick apart literally every piece of code that it includes in every beta to try to find pernicious things that won't pluses doing so it needs to be far more vigilant than any other oyen right now releasing phones in north america i wish we had the same types of people looking at all the oem the same way i and i hope oneplus realizes on some level that's a good thing that they have an x juror level of you know code inspection from people who are very sceptical and don't like what they're doing at all that's a great thing when you're trying to ship a complicated product.

"As we talk about this a see yes part of the problem really with this is and what itself android does not lend itself deeply well even i mean a kind of those with tablets but certainly not a laptop right i mean when you plug android it's still basically just android but on biggest wearing yeah that's what they're dealing with right now is on top of the on top of the factors saying this is a project that were working on its in the name they're saying we literally don't know how we're going to make this software end up working they're showing i mean of course they can do simple things they can make the phone into a track that and just put things on the screen that's not really the most compelling situation that's not taking advantage of the fact the you have this second screen down there they have concepts but they don't know how it's actually going to be able to be executed to show different things on the top screen on the laptop screen and the phone screen they don't know how this how they're going to make it a desk top like experience they have some ideas of a different style of launcher that automatically opens when you launch you know into this sin but still you're really still working with you know what happens when you know we've don't all dealt with this with tablets you know you open an app and it just wants to force portrait mode or you know whatever those are things that are really hard to get around on a laptop when you're only course of action it's not a touchscreen laptop either so you're only course of action would be to remove the phone from the dock in it gets really messy as well so i think it's pretty easy to see that the hardware come on razor knows how to make laptop but the software i mean razor doesn't even know how they're going to how they're going to handle this yeah this southwest side you mentioned running two different things on a having an angela device than connects to screen and show something else on a second screen from memory i think that's something that was added.

"Hardware manufacturers that are that we're going to work alongside than like you say they've they've got a history of doing that so uh that's probably part of the reason why there it's yes and not just holding their own event so s all right so move on and i'm gonna powders a run for my connection troubles for so as power through this so another announcer who see us i couldn't foreign jason we've covered this announcement before in the past but uh so probably first there was google lowered in that we had android pay and now there's google pay apparently kugler has decided to you a role in all of their payment services into a new brand in it again this year i feel like this is a rerun now payment information we have overrun gould how to all types of google products and right out of the gate airbnb airbnb dice fandago hungry house finance the cards now supported with more safar coming over the over in coming weeks so google continues to mishandled their payment i don't understand why this thing like why can't they just pick what a stick with it i mean admittedly google pays better name from a branding standpoint than gugel wallets or android pay was and repay felt like it was isolating itself to just android they went through the same thing with the place store before was the playstore when it was android marketplace no like well we want this to be more than just android and so they open it up it's you know again aeges boils down to google is not very good at learning these lessons and applying them to other departments uh funded google pay is is a fine name i mean as far as that is concerned it's about as as a open generic his as it could possibly be i just never use the technology a very curious to know if if you are all in on the dislike wireless payment arm of andhra.

"Out of the vehicle there's no connection to get vehicle data through android auto it would be impossible it would it would be possible to capture the last valuable for the car shut off but have multiple people use the card only update the last folk connected unless it's safe to the cloud however most automakers now offer such data through their telematic services and proprietary apps for example gm owners can use onstar remotely inc to check things like fuel level or battery charge in addition of functions like remote start lock unlock a remote charging management these all work through cellular connection between the car in the cloud so they got sam knows has tough he does he really does and this is a and this is probably a good time to mention the newlyannounced jvc android auto head unit right yes so we were talking last week being a part of this discussion was the side dea that possibly at ces s a wireless android auto had unit or or multiples would be announced and i realize we haven't actually officially gotten into the here's what was announced the us segment of the show but this relates to the email so yeah jvc has the c k wv 940 d w which is a very nice name as they usually are are but it allows for you to to connect to your phone to your android auto via wifi so direct connected via wi fi when you get in so that you don't have to find the cable plug it in in order for it to get that sink so that's will wireless is referring to as far as android auto is concerned and it's important to note that we're going to thank a sponsored a moment but when we're back we're gonna go over the cis stuff and that's not the last bit of android auto we're gonna talk about the show or a orly's cars you know car stuff so stay tuned as true luke do you have a an android otto head unit does anyone have an android auto had one of those things is here about we never actually secret.
