"Marks. The general manager's position he is just gone right into punt formation. When talking to the media sense said it's a private matter for kyrie. Well it is a private matter for kyrie but it's a heck of a problem for the nets Whether they want to hide behind that statement or not yeah. It feels like look. There's a larger conversation we'll touch on here about public health and privacy and how many of these choices are around vaccination. But we're really talking about here is also just a sports business story. It's actually just a sports story. What happens when one of the three best players on the nba. Title favorite ends up not being able to play a half of their games because of a local ordinance and it feels like you know so much of this got kicked off through this rolling stone story that came out and look. This is not spn's reporting but it was explosive reporting. They talked to kyrie's aunt she's the head of his family foundation. She's described as one of the few people in his regular circle of advisers. How would you describe what she said. As kyrie's motives here are concerned. I don't wanna put words in her mouth but she basically implied that kyrie was going to be fighting a grander fight beyond just whether he could play in the nba or not Just basically a fight for anybody who felt that they were being forced to vaccinate or forced to do anything. I think if i recall his aunt said something along the lines of what he's doing is not religious based its moral based knowing whether his aunt was speaking for him or whether she was speaking on your own would be a key yes or no question to get from kyrie irving at some point hiree definitely feels a draw to be much bigger than basketball and in certain areas in his life. He has been and by the way in some areas of his life. It's been very admirable. Yeah and you know. It's it's a big standard. Take i think for modern athletes who want to be you know bigger than athletes. The icon is mohammed ali and muhammad ali at a very delicate time and our country stood up for what he believed in in terms of the draft. And i don't want to put words into kyrie's mouth or make an assumption of what he's thinking because that's really dangerous. But i think hiree would like to be somebody who is seen as that type of inspirational person beyond the game hiree in the past has dabbled around the concept of trying to start his own league away from the nba. So you know he has a guy to say the he's a guy that he thinks. Big is true. I believe he's even talked about After his playing career going living on a commun- things of this nature so there's no telling what he may say and what he may do quite frankly and pablo. It's actually my preference as somebody who covers the nba. I really made a decision a couple of years ago. Then i'm gonna came to kyri. I was only going to focus on the rectangle of the basketball court. Because after that got a little bit squishy and you could find yourself sort of stuck in a swamp trying to follow going on in this case we have no choice because his actions and words outside the basketball court affect the team on the court. Who's maybe highest profile team in the nba. And a chance to win the championship this year. Which is the core of everything that we do. At certain point. It feels like i guess. Life has dealt me this hand where. I must now go hunting for these instagram posts. Tyree has started liking in which vaccines are alleged to be part of a plot to connect people to a master computer on behalf of satan. I can't say for sure that's why he thinks. But certainly there's evidence that he is is studying those concepts. So what does happen from here brian. How long does go on. What kind of resolution do you see on the horizon. If at all so the nba is doing everything in its power to force players into getting the vaccine. The lives of players who are unvaccinated are much more uncomfortable than their vaccinated teammates from them. Not being able to sit in the sections of the plane. That are more comfortable to them. Not being able to eat with their teammates to how much they have to test to Whether they may have to spend time away from the team if they're exposed to cova And most importantly they're gonna take kyrie irvings money for games that he doesn't play and not much. Are we talking about ryan well. That's a key factor here so the nba players union and the league as we speak are fighting over this exact thing the nba in an effort to force kyrie and andrew wiggins quite frankly to get vaccinated decided they were not going to pay a players if they if they had to sit due to the city rules and for kyrie irving that is going to be in the neighborhood of four hundred thousand dollars per game. They are absolutely trying to turn the screw as hard as possible on on kyrie to get vaccine so brian i mean looking at your latest reporting here with woes tonight about what. The nets are kind of feeling about all of this right now with two weeks to go before the season starts. How would you describe how the organization is approaching this at this point. Well they've been hopeful that kyrie you know would get compliance would get vaccinated and since that is not happening and the reality pablo is. There's only one day left in the entire preseason where the nets are are scheduled to be out of new york. And that's a that's a one game a one day trip to philadelphia for a game next week. it's kyra can't practice at least with the team and so as they peak ahead to their early season schedule they have six game homestand in mid october where it would be eleven consecutive days. Where under the current rules of kyrie is not compliant. He only play in those six games. He can't practice on the days off in between man and so it's very difficult in the national basketball association to not play a practice with your team for seven to ten to fourteen days at a time and just show up and play and the nets are now starting to come to terms with the reality that their hopes that kyrie would get this Taking care of aren't going through. You know they were. Hopefully we could go in here. They are a week later. It's not taking so. They have started to to examine whether or not they want to allow kyrie to be a part time player. Do they want to enter into a situation where they will have to go through. These shock changes to their team bringing kyrie in and out There's even a stretch pablo in in november and december. Where they're at home for twenty out of twenty six days i mean the nba has accepts stretches. The reality is that the nets are starting to think that they may have to make a decision on this. I mean. i don't think they're there yet. But i think they are trying to be responsible and the thing about is they're very deep team. You know they don't have another kyrie irving but they have another great point. Guard have another. Mvp level point guard right there in james harden and they have a patty mills who they who is their major offseason free agent signing Who is a starter level player. He's not kyrie irving. Don't get me wrong. But he is a quality replacement and so they are beginning to to to say listen. We have to go through a process here and really pablo if i could translate it. Yeah i think it's the nets beginning to push back To basically say kyri we. We will support your decision either way. But you've got to make that decision you can't sit on the fence and so we may be headed toward that becoming a you know a pinch point four korean the nets in the short term future. But it would. Just be blunt with me here about this brian because if the nets are beginning to push back in a decision might be made a very tough decision i mean are we talking about a trade. Are we talking about something else. Who in the organization has the power on that. How how's the power structure work here. Well it's it's be kevin durant. Kevin durant is the guy who really is the point person on any big decision with the nets. This would be a huge. You know the situation really is is that kyri is is not a valuable player in new york. If he's not vaccinated he's a valuable player in twenty seven other cities he's how slayer in new york. He's half a player in new york and the nets are trying to title this year. Kyrie may feel unfair. But it's the reality. It's the reality of the nets have to play with and and so. I don't think we're at that point and i don't think katie is at that point but i think a week ago. Everybody was hopeful and sort of in full support. That is now starting to come in doubt and the nets in in kevin durant are going to have to evaluate their options. And i don't want to talk about trade because that starts to fire people up. But let's get aggregated buddy if you are going to be a new the every other player currently playing in new york no matter where they are on the vaccination has gotten vaccine because they understand if you wanna be a player in new york. This what you have to do right now. Kyri has not made that decision and so you have to start to deduct about whether he wants to be a player in new york and that's a situation that the nets have to do the calculus begin to think about doing it. So brian before my head explodes at all of these possibilities now of what happens to kyrie and his organization and what kevin durant ask. Do any of it..
Warriors Reject Sixers’ Steep Asking Price for Ben Simmons
"Sixers are asking the Warriors per keep pumping, who covers the sixties for The Philadelphia Inquirer for Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman, the seventh pick in tonight's draft, the 14th pick in tonight's draft. And to future first round picks. So four first round picks. Wiggins and Wiseman. Basically That's six first round picks if you think about it. 7 14 to future. Wiggins was an early first round pick, and James Wiseman was just the second pick in the draft. So if you want to say, because Wiggins played in the league for a little bit hit, and he's kind of been underwhelming. Wise, but at least they're still has that potential. Even after his first season, it's basically Wiggins And five first round picks for Ben Simmons. If I'm the Golden State warriors. I'm glad they said no. And I don't think that price is going to be met for Ben Simmons.
Curry's 30-point run ends
"Out there that says rules are made to be broken. Well, records are made to be broken as well. Streaks are made to be surpassed or made to come to an end, and it just so happened. That Steph Curry ran into a formidable defender in Russell Westbrook as the Warriors air wrapping up their road trip on Wednesday in Washington. Steph Curry has to take on for the most part. The battle of the hounding the aggressiveness. Russell Westbrook and you know Russ is tenacious. I mean, The man's relentless He likes to prove a point. He likes a personal challenge. This was a game in which the Warriors were up big early. And then we're up by 11 in the fourth quarter. What got sloppy. And then the shooting went cold in the fourth and so very quickly, the Wizards were able to narrow the gap. They were definitely missed opportunities for the Warriors. But the Wizards were able to take care of. There's real rocking the cradle back and forth. I'll cut stores, right head down right block to the basket Bank and score bacon score because he runs by Russell Westbrook. Hello five as it was to fly high 1 14 1 10 with 55 seconds left. Bradley. Beal had 29 points in this matchup against Curry. Top two scorers in the N B A to start tonight, Curry had just passed. Bradley Beal Washington rallies from 11 down in that final quarter. But even in that last minute after the lay up with Dave John that you hear with Dave Johnson on the Wizard's radio network, even after that, Warriors got a big feel and Andrew Wiggins blew a wide open layup that would have tied the game in the final. I think it was the final 10 seconds I was listening to the game on the war years radio network.
Warriors hold off NBA-leading Jazz to snap 4-game skid
"The warriors had dropped a season high four in a row before Draymond green recorded his twenty six career triple double delivering eleven points twelve rebounds and twelve assists in a one thirty one one nineteen downing of the jazz you could tell it was a different game of thrones for from the moment we stepped out there and we always said all year that's who this team could be well we defended the level that we defended out tonight Stephan curry had thirty two points with six three pointers to go with nine assists Andrew Wiggins added twenty eight points as Golden State returned home for a rare Sunday matinee at chase center where the warriors have played just once over the previous twenty four days we go there had twenty four points and a career high twenty eight rebounds for Utah which became the league's last team to reach double digit losses I'm Dave Ferrie
2021 Lottery NBA Mock Draft
"Tony. And i are going to do our first lottery. Mock draft of the year today. We're going to go back and forth. Selecting picks to put a draft order together. Midseason is really difficult. Especially if you've looked at the standings anytime lately and seen how bunch together so many of these teams are so i went to espn's basketball power index That list teams projected records to the season through a number of statistical factors. I think it's it's probably a better look. At where teams are going to be at the end of the season then necessarily their records right now and then based off of that we put together a draft order that obviously is going to change and obviously will be affected by the nba draft lottery where the top top three teams each have a fourteen percent chance of getting the top pick and so on as you know how the draft lottery works and so doing a mock draft. This time of season tough until really until the draft lotteries over. We don't really know the order but but we have some guesses now based off of where teams what teams have played. And what's going on right now and we're going to do our best to give you a are mock draft For the twenty twenty one season. First one we're just gonna cover the lottery and we're going to let tony how the first pick in the draft and based off of that. Espn bpi has the minnesota timberwolves projected to have the worst record in the league. Which is actually pretty good news for minnesota timberwolves fans because the timber wolves have to trade pick to the golden state warriors if this is pick four thirty and so the only way minnesota keeps this pick is if they fall into top three right now. If the season were tomorrow they'd have about a forty point. Seven percent chance of keeping this year's draft pick a falling the top three in the draft. So this is no guarantee from minnesota that they'll have the number one pick they all said the number one pick last year. Tony you're on the board. Who do you select if you're the timber. Wolves with the number one. Pick in the twenty twenty one nba draft. I select the I will not need three minutes to make the selection I'm selecting k. Cunningham six hundred seventy one hundred twenty point guard out of oklahoma state and so when you When you make your draft selections you do to you draft for two things you draft For value and you draft for need and this is both in pick antibi- you pick for for for the minnesota timberwolves number one. K cunningham is the best player draft You know. I think the gap is actually close Because you know. I think jonathan coachman gain in jalen green. You know both of those guys you look at them and they have some real special tools But that being said you know k. Cunningham is is still am. I is the most shore Most short superstar player in his draft. In and i think that's a compliment to how good distract is going to be especially in the top five But you know cunningham can score at all three levels. No he's sick. He's all seven all twenty. He's he's a natural point guard You know if you're minnesota you're trying to trace the ngelo russell Like as soon as possible In you know you put k. cunningham in the backcourt with anthony edwards who i think both of us can safely say it's better than we thought he would And i think that. That's obviously a backward for the future for the minnesota timberwolves in a really nice triumvirate with karl anthony towns so Definitely you know we all rights won't always talk about. We need some some of these number. One picks the go out east but you get the number one pick in another kind of generational prospect that comes to the western conference. I'm totaling till the agreement with you. Tony i think look. I don't think. I think there's five guys that can make a claim to the number one pick in this draft and so it's not like cunningham is a lock here but because of that i would put all of these players in the same tier and then when you look at what minnesota actually needs on their basketball team. Right now i think cunningham is just the right fit for this team as well and i i see him as a really nice compliment to karl anthony towns and to ant man right now and i think that this is this will be a huge boon for minnesota. If they get this pick and you know look everybody in minnesota has got gotta be crossing their fingers at this point Like you said if they fall out of the top three golden state gets this pick. And i think golden state already one that andrew wiggins dangelo russell trade as it is but if they end up getting you know the fourth or fifth pick in the draft does as as well. It's going to be an absolute massacre on that trade.
Warriors hold off Raptors 106-105 on off night by Curry
"They merely canned a pair of free throws with three point three seconds left to push the warriors past the raptors one oh six one oh five Andrew Wiggins had seventeen points to match his career high with four blocks for Golden State which nearly squandered away a game it led by seventeen the warriors also won despite a woeful shooting performance by Stephan curry who shot two of sixteen and missed nine of ten threes for eleven points after scoring one hundred forty three overs previous four games forget about shooting we don't forget a game like this or we don't win a game like this you know about our defense taken strides in the right direction we all understood that's very paschal SIAC missed a jumper at the buzzer but he finished with twenty five points for the raptors who sank to two one seven I'm Dave Ferrie
Curry scores 38 as Warriors rally past Clippers, 115-105
"The warriors came back from twenty two down to beat the clippers one fifteen to one oh five LA had an eighty five sixty three advantage with three fifteen to play in the third quarter only to have Golden State go on a thirty four to six run warriors hit twenty threes in the game Steph curry who made nine finished with thirty eight points and eleven assists you have to find that balance out there but some out all year of take over the defense gives you making the right bass will play in and try to get everybody involved is still being aggressive the score Andrew Wiggins scored sixteen even when we're down twenty something there's a lot of time left in the game you know your battles for the runs Paul George twenty five to lead the clippers I am mark Myers
The Golden State Warriors Path to Regain Glory
"Hello hello pablo. I am so excited to talk to you today. Because you have been digging into the golden state warriors and you've talked to their players. Their coaches their executives. But i want to know what other people are curious about. They hear that you're writing a future on the warriors. What did they want to know can still work can steph curry dragged his team by the scruff of its neck into the playoff field. Can they approximate without klay thompson. Kevin durant gone even a glimmer of what they were during their dynasty. And that's what people wanna know. And at the center of all of this kevin this week in particular is steph curry and we can't begin this conversation without talking about what he did specifically on sunday night. How would you describe what you saw. It was a volcano curry leads. In one hand or just off balance grows it up. It's good he's got fifty. Career screen takes a deep free. It's god fifty nine points. Curry takes another three. It's up job. He's got sixty two just unspeakable three point attempts that no person with a good conscience ever a nation of basketball coaches is freaking out. Because they're going to have fourteen year olds in practice pulling up from thirty seven feet. There was the sense coming out of their very met to into road trip. That steps showing few signs he might. It's gonna happen. It may happen. Don't you think it's going to happen. He's starting to move differently. We're starting to find him. The ball and places he likes it and as draymond green said to somebody on the staff. All it takes is one in. We saw that one sunday night against portland and essentially recreated the steph. We knew for those five years over the dynasty. Let's be clear about what the prelude to that career high sixty two was because he was shooting. What like twenty percent from three in those first two games so when people are begging hoping for that volcano to start shaking again. Why do you think it actually ended up exploding as it did. I mean one is just the laws of inevitability second is in your staff. They all emphasize this. And it sounds a little bit like spin. If you're if you're sort of cynical which is look. He's playing with guys that he's never played with before. But when you really start digging into it and you remember what it was like to watch the weird they don't run scripted sets all that much mall. Those great beautiful plays that you see that. Look like basketball ballet. They use intuition. They use a million reps playing together to sort of know where everybody's going to be almost telepathically on the floor. And so you've seen that a million times steph. Runs comes off a pick and roll. He gives the ball up. He relocates to the corner other people kind of follow him there. Somebody comes off the other side and then steph kind of relocates again and you find him and it's so second nature if you watched it for five straight years you come to take it for granted but if the other guys on. The floor aren't versed in the dark arts of golden state warriors movement. It's harder and it was something that i think other teammates. The new guys andrew wiggins kelly oubre rookie. James wideman guys. Who haven't played as long with him. It takes a little while to get in the rhythm. There was like a moment. I think in the milwaukee their second loss of the season where you saw step come off one of those speaking roles and he was going to kind of go fast too slow to the right corner and there was somebody there right and it wasn't the fault of a teammate. It's just they're not equipped with the intuition and just the nuances of golden state warriors basketball. Which essentially is how do we find steph. The right shot at the right moment at the right time precisely where he wants it. It's funny

"Or standing by KNBR, You're yuletide leader. And why is that with a block to see the help it recover? Lisbon has a handle Wiseman down the lane. What? Aram? Oh, man took out his frustrations with the whole game on that one. Play handle lead the break. Nobody was going to stop him like a runaway freight train. Yet James Wiseman flashed briefly. Only six points last night, But those two Gary Crowley, those two were worth the price of admission. It was a rough game at times for James Wiseman, but He will not be remembered this season for the turnovers that he makes for the balls in the lane that he bobbles for for the missus, which labs exact right on defense. He will be remembered for the growth that he shows and the transcendent highlights because Quite frankly, That is what that play was James Wiseman with TheStreet Eller Block and then to run the floor like a big man. I think I saw that Don Nelson said. The fastbreak and an offense really gets unlocked. When your big men run the floor like that. And James Wiseman can do that. There are so few in the MBA who have that ability to change the game like James Wiseman can and we're seeing it in spurts. We're seeing it moments. It was not his best game as a warrior, but There are going to be good days to come for James Weissman. I'm more confident they'll becoming sooner rather than later. Well, there are also going to be games this season where we have a play like that from James Wiseman and have to then couch it with, but the Warriors lost by 12 12 20 optimistic I'm being a bit but fortunately, that is not the case here. They get back to 500. They do what they should have done, which is beat the Pistons. Attacked. They were only favored by what 4.5 Late 10. So you know, you'll take that on the road. Um, lots of good things last night. Andrew Wiggins. The headliner clearly had 11 points in the fourth quarter, right keying that that late late game run really is back and forth and they were up and looked like they were gonna pull away and then lo and behold Pistons right back on top. So they had work to do in that fourth quarter, and those Wiggins points were critical. And we were sitting here in the studio in the first half and Scott, we were shaking our head at some of the plays that were happening. It was beautifully. I figured if we were literally shaking our head the defensive lapses that we go and John Miller saved us because John Miller talks about five minutes spurts yesterday, But we were able to focus a little bit on the Warriors game and catch that first half, But there were defensive lapses. The Pistons had wide open three point shots, and it looked like okay. This Warriors team is going to continue to struggle on the defensive end of the floor to the point where they were going to be questions that are going to linger about how competitive they could be. And in the second half, they have their best half of the season so far, and I know it's a four game sample size. So you're talking eight halves of basketball, but it was far and away the best half and what have we been saying if Andrew Wiggins plays up to his capabilities? It's entirely possible. Yeah, Look, he has two. Yes, There's no other option here Other than a train wreck of a season. Andrew Wiggins has got to be an 18 to 20 point a game score. And you pair that with Steph Curry and all that he brings and you hope And, you know, I still assume that you're going to get your 13 14 a game from you braise the number three score and then Raymond can just be dream on, you know, scoring points but give me a rebounds and seven assists and do your thing and play great defense and be the emotional catalyst and everything else and Wiseman. We see the developmental curve, and that's when it all falls into place, and this team can win more than it loses and can make the playoffs. That's that's the playbook right there, And they followed it last night, and you could send some of the joy that the Warriors had in Wigan's performance in the postgame press conferences. Steve Kerr, Steph Curry both spoke about it when I play some of those clips and let's start with Kirby Cause he was so complimentary of Wiggins and seeing him break out after what had been a tough start. So Steve Kerr on Andrew Wiggins performance and particularly the fourth quarter outburst. I think so. I think I think so. Hey, was he was phenomenal, man. He just took over the game. You know, we're knocking down threes. Get into the room. Getting to the foul on. You know, Andrew was Fantastic. Just hold fourth quarter. I don't know how many points you scored in the fourth, but 17 17. That was that was just huge. And I also thought James had a really good stretch in the fourth, where his his size and his presence in the pain for the first time. Really, you know, the four games It looked like he sort of knew what his job was to protect the rim, not fouled, use his size and his athleticism and he made a couple of big plays where we got stops and scores at the other end. And of course, his Johannes play was pretty impressive to transition. Pretty impressive. That was okay. Just doing something that Johannes does on a daily basis is pretty impressive. Back M v p. Speaking of just on a tangent momentarily since you mentioned Yanis, or since Steve Kerr mentioned Johannes, did you see what the bucks did? Yesterday? I did not. I was not tuned into Milwaukee. Bucks. Basketball. So, the bucks yesterday What was the final number? They said they set the record for most threes in a game. They 39 something. Yeah. I couldn't believe the box score when I saw that earlier tonight, and the amazing part That is that Everybody who played for the Bucks hit. At least it was 29 threes. New NBA record. Everybody who played for Milwaukee hit at least 13. Except the honest Can you imagine the warriors doing something like that? Now? He had nine points. Wow. At nine point, Didn't they score like 1 40? They scored 144. He had nine Wow, Exactly. It's a good team and Kurt. He was gonna join us momentarily, and he did not have the bucks high in his power rankings, And I'm I'm really curious as to why, because they seem like they've got a strong supporting cast around Yonas. I'm not sure why they can't challenge the Brooklyn Nets atop the East with You know if they're thrashing the Miami heat the way they did all they had. They had seven guys in double figure scoring, but this wasn't one of them. Right? That is that ever happened. That is a problem of the Golden State Warriors wish that they had that Steph Curry was stuck on nine points and you've got Damian Lee won 44 Yeah..

"A pleasure. How are you? Good. I'm sure you have your eye on multiple games going on right now. I'm all right. That is correct. Yeah, the actual opening night he India watching a bunch of different games but fascinated with the obviously the local team. The Wizard's watching them play at six years. A couple of the games brought store guys last night. No rules. Yeah, Let's let's start There shall wait. Let's start with the warriors, because, Yeah, they got trounced by a K D Kyrie and the Brooklyn Nets, who looked pretty darn good. But give me your overreaction to this warriors team of what you saw. Yeah, It's definitely an overreaction after one game, no question. Um, uh, you know, look, it's gonna be a struggle. I don't think there's any question that it's going to take them a while to kind of figure out. With their identity is with this group. It's a different group that they have to close so differently than they have played the last several years. You you can't You know, kind of prepared. Get someone like clay back and then take him away and not have that impact. You know, very difficult way. So there, you know, it's gonna be tough. I think they'll play better off. You know, they didn't have dream on last night. Don't be better. Why would look good? Probably find a big dream on will be fine. Um Still like I do like you, but I think he's going to give them energy that they haven't had. Excuse me in a while. Um, but for them, you know, they're gonna have to show me who's going to be able to make shots. That to me is the The major kind of issue besides stuff. I mean, we know he consumed but who else and that starting five is going to consistent with somebody that can knock down jumpers and We don't know the answer to that. You know, it may take them a while to figure that out. Maybe they may have the Tweaked the roster a little bit to find that out, but it'll be a work in progress for them For sure me, I think what Steve said. And I said, You know, multiple times you guys have heard out there. This is what it's really like to be in the NBA. You know when you weigh you don't just show up and the other team loses, you know, loses their collective minds and you've already won the game. And we just, you know, just rolls with 30 point when it's not like that, most nights and then big. Usually you gotta really earn it. And they're gonna have to get back to that kind of mentality, I think, yeah. I mean, that's why we saw why losing Clay Thompson was so devastating because they're there are guys who can score around Steph Curry. But this is an entirely different team now and they've got to figure out their identity, right. They've got to figure out what they do how they're gonna win games. They're certainly gonna have to be better on the defensive end and Draymond green again. Not out there. So he's the Capitol Mall that But it brings us to Andrew Wiggins, which everyone is already kind of tough on him out here in the bay because he is a guy who could score. He is a former number one overall draft pick. And his M, although has been the fact that he doesn't quite live up to The talent that he has, and he doesn't take over games and necessarily dominate the way. He certainly is capable of. Yeah. You know, he has not been. You know what everyone thought number one pick would be. There's no question he has struggled in that role. I don't think you know he he didn't play well last night. I don't e think is a better place now and again with him is how do we? How do you take what he does Well, which is I think it's a pretty decent defender. I think he's pretty decent shooter, but times that what I you know. He should. He just struggled. I think with the Kind of responsibility. Maybe at being the number one and number two guy and see what you got to do is figure out a way to get him the kind of relax and understand that maybe for him. It's better to be the third option or the fourth option and just kind of play loose and free. Think that's the best way for him to play. But, yeah, he's No, He's never going to be the number one cake. Always going to get that out of their minds and stop acting like you know, someday he's going to start playing like the number one overall pick. He's just You know, he just happened to be in the drug where somebody had to go one minute with him, You know, you know what I mean. That happened some years. Um, you know, it's good been in a different draft. He might have gone six that nobody would have cared right? But he went first, and that brings all kinds of Expectations and pressures that you know he has never been never sewn. That he can he can handle And so I think. It will help him and help everybody out there. If you stop thinking about him as a former number one overall pick because he's never played like that. That's good advice, and I think you're right in the sense that he just does not have that mentality to be. The guy and he doesn't have to be the guy here. Steph Curry's that guy, and and unfortunately, he could have been as you mentioned the third option behind Steph and Clay. But now all the sudden would know Clay. He's going to be asked to do more, and I do really like kill you, Bray. I don't worry about him at all. He's got a motor. He's got an edge. He's got a swag. He's gonna bring it. You know, And he certainly defensively, I think is gonna be great for them. Even though things did not look good for anyone last night. The effort the energy was the biggest question. You know that Steve Kerr had a level of competitiveness that they didn't show which is not something you hear. Of when you hear gold, say warriors. That's just not Just not who they've been, But again, they aren't the same team. So in no fans on the stand to like, I can't help but think that so you're gonna have to generate your own energy. When things are going well, you're gonna have to find it and that's going to test a lot of teams this year, don't you think? Absolutely. I think it's actually could be harder at home. I don't think it will be that difficult on the road for for a lot of teams. I think they'll figure it out because he's used to being you know, on the road. They're not. They're not used to hearing any fans were cheering to them. I think the problem will be. There will be a problem for golden State because you built a really big arena with the expectation of bringing those fans into the arena, and they're not gonna be there s O. That to me is where Golden State might even have a bigger problems when they play at home. But, yeah, it's gonna be difficult..

"You need him to play Well, if you want to do that, for nobody's taken on a $30 million contract for a guy who's who's gonna clink shots and come off the bench. They just need to simplify like he needs to sympathizing. He was just weighing his head. He just got to be simple. Like there was one play that you're struggling and like if you've ever been around basketball at all. Every coach would tell you, like gets it around. If you struggle it just before you go lay one up, See the ball go through the hoop, but the ideas and take the high percentage stuff. Don't take the low percentage of get yourself going with the high percentage stuff. So while in high school, that's a layup, right or free throw in the pros. That's the spot on the floor where you shoot 80%, right. And all pros have the spot Where a Oh, if I get to the spot on right, like Paul Pierce to get to that elbow is over. It doesn't matter. Right. Like Haiti free. Dolan is over Allen in the corner. It's going into done, right. Like so he was in the spot. He got by the defense had them pull up right there. Little 15 footer. Not only doesn't take his shot, I was like, Oh, he's in his head. He doing to Jameson Bunny, huh? I was leaning and push me. Well, like what Shot is? I've never seen you take that shit. You take the All you had to do was take a regular mid range jumper, which he's made a million times in his career, and he didn't take it. That's why I was like, Oh, he's in his head. He's got to simplify the game. But you know this was a big deal. He was like, Yo, just this is this is real now like you don't think I'm trash playing alongside staff can't speculate against Katie right. He's probably listen to all the talk. It was, like, all right about to show you all and then he thinks the first two threes and it was like everybody's like ship is out of town to get that guy on my team. I can't Do it with Wiggins. Bad man. He's got to be tougher to that He's got to be tougher than struggling, may go do something else watching you break. Well, that's being a pro is being a pro. You're right who Bree figured it out and figure out a way to impact the game elsewhere. But you know, it's tough to say, you know, the words will only go as far as Andrew Wiggins will take them, but he but he can't hurt them in the way that you heard him last night. You've got to make those shots to get the team in rhythm. They just need. It's just a punctuated the reality that they need. Stephen's very much to be great like that. They need Stephan very much to be great stuff was a great stuff was too passive. He was allowing. Them to take him out of the office. And that was That was. I mean, that's how stuff wrote stuff is gonna follow the game plan into a tea, right? But I've been saying this for years. You know, at some point stuff's gonna be like, Hey, sir. One person on this team. One person concerned person on this team will be mentioned in the top 20 greatest players of all time when his career is over, and it's Steph Curry. I looked at them and be the ball. Look at that, like to like there To me. They're like the Houston Texans. Man like to Sean watches out there slinging the ball. He's gonna be topping every statistical category a quarterback, but there is no supporting cast around him stuff as a supporting cast. He's got guys that may be able to help. But if they take him out of the game, I don't know where else they could go. They just gotta learn how to play. That means they gotta learn how to play together. Well, I'm just gonna take guys to learn to play alongside Steph. We haven't seen this much overturned on a roster to his starting lineup. Where you go. Steph didn't play with Anybody in the line of last year safer Paschal, and it was five games. It's gonna It's gonna take a while. It's going to take, you know, I mean, that's It's a totally different team that the last time we saw staff and so I wonder how guys figure out where step's gonna be you talk about, you know, plays breaking down and teams knowing Hey, we know where these are and they're just giving up on the play. They've got to know we have to continue to move the ball, the ball movement. Is what was so much different yesterday that it was two years old. Others. Yeah, you know, like there are times where the guy is not Making that extra swing or not being patient enough. And you could just see stuff like this running down court playing defense. He played some tough to unify. Yesterday. Stuff was good. He was good on defense. All right, You're not gonna make a shot and they but that's where steps going to say. Hey, hey, sir. Let me holla at you real quick. Steve, take a seat. Hey, yes. You know when, when that guy jumps and I go back door, like usually the boss will be right here waiting for the ball. When the balls they're waiting for me when I get there, Yes. So you know when I when I popped back behind the screen, That means you gotta get You know, that's not. That's how that's how we do this. Here. 63 1st half points for the Nets with that 43 in the first quarter part where is like, okay? I mean, look, if that's The dating ban. Their defense was like they beat the brakes off at 43 points in the first quarter. I was like, dude, this is what this felt like. I forgot what this felt way They were not. I forgot what this felt like, Usually on the other side, man, we got guys sitting, you know, they need badly. They need a bad team. This will happen last year. They got blown out like was it too? They got blown out against the Clippers. They got blown out against Oklahoma City, and then they play the pelican. It's Harry. Yeah, licking your chops when they blow out the pelicans, Asian what they do it this year. I don't know that that happens this year, Steven Adams out there this year. The algae. They worry about Stephen that no. Why is gonna get Stephen and fun little match up to that be would be a good little test for him. And if Steven Adams is on the court, they're probably going to do pick a row all day like Steph. Lob it up T o with any and they get what they want. They want Steven Adams guards that was be PTSD from the 2016 Oklahoma City dream on kicking him in the groin. We get to Steph just cooking him all day off. That's what Zion comes in to help. That's what is going on comes flying through the air tonight Shots out of the air. There's a good little text. Your 650 says. This is a perfect example of what we're talking about..

They talked to him and then started setting up Way toe find out more information. Really? And then I had to get back to the draft. So Hard to disengage mentally from it, but we had a lot of stuff going on. Assed for his drafts and trades potential other things, so I couldn't really Let my mind go all the way there, but Now the drafts over and we'll find out more tomorrow. That was general manager Bob Meyers doing his press conference post draft and yes, they select James Wiseman, and they have a lot of expectations for him. But it doesn't work without clay. Like it could be good. They could have a good team. They've got Steph Curry, presumably fully healthy, They were able T give an Andrew Wiggins some reps even with Steph when Steph returned last year from the Shoot, broken hand had a broken hand. It was out a lot longer than what you would anticipate, but they had no reason to bring him back. In fact, he had only been back a few weeks when the MBA shut down completely. So it's just a weird situation. Dreamin was in and out of the lineup, of course, because they didn't know he was banged up. They let's be honest, the Warriors that group of Warriors has played a ton of basketball over the last five years before this past season. And then to not see them in the bubble because they had the worst record in the league. I mean, there was something missing. And I know I'm speaking for me, But I am also speaking for a lot of you fans that love the Warriors brand of basketball that made the Splash Brothers the most watched team by far over the last few years. I mean, they believed internally, and certainly the idea was externally that last year was the aberration last year because of the loss of Clay Thompson and you know the tourney CL steps injury. The fact that Cady had also tourney his Achilles but had moved on. Onto somewhere else. And they had made these kind of trades. Audrey Agudelo was with the Miami heat. I mean, they made these trades to clear cap space and try to figure out ways to keep their core together. The D'Angelo Russell experiment didn't work. I'm not sure they were ever fully committed to it, but they really like Andrew Wiggins. They knew they were gonna have a high draft pick. They've got roll guys, They've got coach Kerr. I mean, they really believe that last year was going to be just a one year blip on the radar and back, they would catapult. Into the realm of contenders, if not a favorite for the NBA championship. And so, Yeah, I mean, I I Don't want to make the entire hour about this, but I feel like this has definitely overshadowed whatever we saw on what is typically a dream come true Knight for the NBA draft. "The Warriors could buy low. He's certainly an upgrade over Andrew Wiggins. For the time period that the warrior should be caring about, which is the next three or four years where their title window is wide open. Worry about the future some other time. Press your advantage. Now The rockets are following apart. The Clippers don't seem to have what it takes the Lakers. Listen, Look, how long can LeBron do this? He's coming in now on short rest. He needed like 300 days before this past season, he put it all on the line for this past season. You think Anthony Davis and Kyle Coups Markarian this team going forward? This is just the pelicans all over again. If there's no LeBron Who are you worried about? The Denver Nuggets. What we're talking about here. The Warriors could be the best team in the Western Conference next year. As they're currently constructed. They have a chance. You bring in a real bona fide wing, a guy who can make an all NBA team Andrew Wiggins can't do it. You can't. It's just not realistic ceiling for him. He's not an all Star level player. Well, George finished third in M V P voting. You bring in a guy like that? They're the best. They're the best team in the West. I take him over the Lakers. 10 times out of 10. And then we can have a conversation about the East after that. I think it's something the warrior should consider. It would have to happen. Ready soon. Bob Mayer says. That stuff will really start to open up come Monday, but it's something it's something to consider. It's something to consider. Throwing it out there. Warriors' plan aims to allow 50% fan capacity
"Year. We should have something to cheer about. But now, of course No fans or will there be? Or in the ESPN. Ramona Shelburne. Warriors have a plan a very expensive plan. Get 50% capacity at Chase Center this year. If you might be saying deter, how the hell are they going to do that? And I asked the same question. And I'm still pretty skeptical that they can pull this off because as of yesterday or maybe even the day before that, I believe they just rolled back. Lot of openings that we were doing here in the city of San Francisco. Situation is not getting better. Getting worse. We're not going to get into the nitty gritty of that. Because that is something I'm not fully qualified to do, Nor probably are you unless you are. George Rutherford, Dr Jordan Rutherford Police feel free to call in Anyway, KNBR. Warriors want to get 50% capacity. At Chez Center. And here's How Joe Lake up who, by the way Bio tech billionaire public health. Degree from U C. L A nose a little bit about. This has a little bit of expertise in this area. I wouldn't say he's epidemiologists or anything like that. I wouldn't put him in charge of the Coronavirus task force. Or anything like that, but certainly more qualified than myself. To figure out how to get 50% capacity. At Chase Center. Now bear with me hear it does get a little In the weeds. But when we're talking about this, we need to be specific about what the hell's going on. This information is important, even if it is a little dense. I'll do my best here but bear with me. The plan is Lakers going to spend $30 million Which you might say That's chump change. That's an Andrew Wiggins. The test every fan employees and player Media to be determined. I would imagine that he's not going to spend the money on us Can't really blame him. Of course, you will have masks and you will have distancing. But the plan is they're going to use a rapid PCR test. So the PCR test that's the deep one right where they get real up in the nose. Those were supposed to be about 99% accurate Now, Joe Lake Up, says he's gotta read. He's got a He's got a guy. He's got a plug. You can get him rapid PCR tests. That means 20 minutes or so you could get an answer, as opposed to what we saw with Major League baseball, where it's 24 hours later, which worked out great at the end of the World Series. I mean bang up job. Think about the amount of times that baseball had a problem this year because of the delay. We're going from 24 hours to 20 minutes. And you might go. We already have rapid testing like that, Peter, we do. There. Auntie Gin tests. Now this is this is the difference. The PCR is the 99% 1. So that's finding any kind of the virus. In your nose. Going up in there finding some of the virus. And then through technology being able to figure out, you know. If you have it or not, If you can't find it after the amplifying, amplifying, amplifying, amplify you don't have it. You got a little bit it. The anti Jin tests are different. They're looking for something that is bound. To the virus. Basically, you have to be shedding the virus in order for the anti Jin test to succeed. Now, those tests are very fast. Take like 10 15 minutes, right? You could get a result. If you're shedding the virus, you probably are showing some symptoms. And so it's estimated. But there is a 30 to 50% miss rate. With these rapid auntie gin tests. Which at a certain point you're like, Why are we bothering with him? Why are we spending all this money? The PCR is the way to go to believe to be 99% accurate. If we could have a situation where the PCR test He's going as fast as the anti gene tests. I don't know about you. But 99% is a lot better than 50% or even 70% on its best day. The Joe Lake up once rapid PCR tests for every fan player and employees. On day of game. Now. I don't know what it's not like You could put everybody in a room in test. Um, just sit around. Mean Chase Center has a great filtration from everything I heard. I heard that well before you know, we really cared about filtration because that was something I cared about him. Big fan, big fan of ventilation. I think they can change out. The air and Chase Center four times an hour like change out the entirety of the air, which seems like a pretty good thing to do. You could also have nothing but outside air coming in. Really let it flow. And I say that would be a good plan. But these rapid PCR tests are the difference. And then George Rutherford. The After mentioned George Rutherford public health expert saying This is as close to a perfect plan as I've seen
How Doris Burke Became An Accidental Pioneer
"We'll. So Dana I can you tell us a little bit about your own relationship with Doris Burke Yeah? I'm Lucky Kavita I. Mean I worked at ESPN for eight years. So Doris was one of the people that I interacted with frequently. I mean we had so much in common with our love for college basketball and we would just chat at games or she shoot me a text. Love that story that you did today you are. You're just you know you did a great job you knocked it out of the park or I would text her. So we've gone back for years and She's just always been the same. That's the coolest thing I can say about Dr is I don't care if she's super popular people are making t-shirts. Drake and all this, and she's still the same that she was when I first met her how would you describe her on air personality and her style in the booth I think what people like about Dr She's She's she's very intelligent and on point about all of her observations, he's got US billy. Donovan says excellent lower body strength and he doesn't reach over. Don't give the official even a window cut the angle. She is not loud. She's not there's no stick to her tough shot contest. Yes. Yes she says something and she really hones in her. She really calls somebody out everyone's Kinda like both. To Me is where Andrew Wiggins has stood in the corners on several possessions. Like steals reporter to. And if you talk to people in the game, they actually say that they they are very respectful of her opinion and they know if she has a problem with something, then there's a problem. We'll Dana you recently wrote a profile on doors for the athletic I. can you tell us a little bit about her background and her early days? She's like a lot of us or at least like me you know kids that grew up just interested in sports. Super. Star Sable. Start Tonight number eleven she moved from Long Island to the Jersey shore to a small town happened to be a park across the street and a basketball hoop and it was like divine intervention right? She hadn't really played a lot of basketball growing up in Long Island. But when she moved, she was young enough that she just that's where she went and there was never a sense of Oh Doris girls don't play sports. It was just whatever you're busy go outside and play sable from outside. and. So she just became a really good ballplayer where really good basketball players are often developed, which is on the playgrounds took all comers boys girls didn't care. The BUZZER GUARD SABLE Head. And grew into a good enough. Basketball players to get a scholarship to providence. We forget that that was a really big deal for young women. Athletes are just weren't a lot of them. That wasn't normal and she recognize it immediately as what it was. It was a ticket for her to get to college and pay for college and established herself in a career. She wasn't there was no WNBA obviously, she knew that this was the path for her future in her life and she just kinda followed it along. Well, she definitely likes to make fun of herself when talking about in her plane, I had it all going on bad hair bad teeth bad clothes, and the only thing I care about whether my jump shot would ever Mack my triple driveability. She does she downplays herself. She doesn't think she wasn't. You know whatever she wasn't the greatest player. You know she was more of a thoughtful player than a an athletic player that sort of thing. Yeah. I mean she's very self deprecating even about her broadcasting career, which is just hilarious. But again, that's what makes Dr. Stars is that she doesn't take herself too seriously. How did she get her start in broadcasting accidentally which I think I can relate that myself but in her circumstance she was coach she went back to providence to be a coach but then she got married and she got to look around. You know this was back when there weren't a lot of. MOMS that were coaches, you know a lot of coaches, maybe one or the other they couldn't do both and she really thought I want to start a family. So she stepped away from coaching and by Dumb luck at the same time Providence decided you know what? We could put a couple of women's basketball games on the radio and we need somebody to do the radio for us and Ella Dar's. You're sitting there. Why don't you do this and she did and she jokes pie five people are listening you probably honestly not wrong. Let's be honest providence women's basketball and some regional network probably not like drawing huge numbers but she loved it and it was easy and it was comfortable and that just sort of Begat one opportunity after another and an big break came because one of the men's basketball. Analyst for the Big East Games couldn't make it into a providence men's game and they were desperate and that she tells us hilarious story was at the emergency room with her son. He had fallen off the weight bunch cut his head open blood everywhere. She's GONNA to bloody shirt and they told her to come down and do play by play and she said, well, I can't play by play but I'll do the color and boom she's on TV and there she. Is I mean no intent to climb some corporate ladder it just sort of opportunity presented itself and she took it.
NBA mock draft: Anthony Edwards or LaMelo Ball as top pick?
"Minnesota Timberwolves had these third worst record this season but won the lottery last night and we'll select first overall in the upcoming NDA draft. lamelo ball has been consistently ranked in the top three prospects. This year's draft and is now projected to go number one overall in this warnings latest mock draft. So Shannon showed the wolf take. That's the question. SKIP. Compatible with very creative thing is that shot is on off the dogs like his brother Lonzo. Beating, people out the dribbling what's the unknowns they've only seen him for twelve games. Now, he's relatively nineteen years of age I. Think Turns Nineteen Couple Days Tomorrow Okay, yeah? "The town's Andrew Wiggins and Zach Lavine exactly happened his last off of Minnesota like it's in stock right in the head scratcher for me, though, Jeff is That worldwide Weston Leon Rose are the new structure for the New York Knicks in their front office. Did they even talk to Mark Jackson Jackson's become the Brian Billick of coaching candidates, isn't it? Seriously like like mark every time you look around, Stephen A said, how come Mark Jackson that he would be a perfect coach for New York? Okay, because he's from New York that need the actual city has nothing to do with it. It's about where that a coach can get the most out of his players. And so Mark Jackson still without an opportunity, But yet Thibodeau gets his third opportunity. I just I always look at him as a to be maybe to see but as far as trying to get the mix into relevance That's going to be on Leon Rose and worldwide West based on personnel even more so than a new head coach. Our good friend George Sedano, who, of course, the sideline work for the N BA hosted return. To the end before earlier this afternoon on ESPN radio and had this to say about how Thibodeau will fit in New York, bringing tips you know where they're going to hang their hat on and that's on defense. And ifyou're Julius Randle, if you're r J. Barrett, ifyou're those guys, I mean, Mitchell Robertson shouldn't have to worry about defense. But nor Frank Aquino. But ifyou're those guys, Kevin knocks You better get ready to work. Okay, Because that's he's gonna bring accountability. He's going to make you hang your hat on defense. They're going to be tough. It's going to take him maybe a minute to kind of get those guys on the same page. But I do think that it will be in those guy's best interest. Long term. I do also think that Tibbs Hopefully has learned right from some of the issues he's had in the past where maybe kind of running guys down a little bit too much, you know, playing heavy, heavy heavy minutes on certain guys, particularly guys who may have some injury histories or injury issues. But I do think that guys can learn from that. I think that people evolve right, so I'm excited. I do think it brings Some added attention to the Knicks, and maybe some really stability to the franchise from a coaching perspective and accountability for that matter, too. You know the weird thing about the Minnesota time? With Fido and you and I spent a lot of time discussing this in our shows How bad that timber wolves were defensively under Fido. Remember that? That was like the ultimate conundrum because yes, he did. Preach a certain level of defense in Chicago. But then, when he got full control in Minnesota, their defense just fell off the map. And so did his coaching career in Minneapolis because they were stopped anybody. You would watch a game and then see at the end of the night, where the Timberwolves gave up 105 110 115 points a game. And if I'm an owner of a gentleman's jump thinking Well, if your defensive guru how come we can't stop anybody? You're in the Western Conference, since it's a much more difficult conference for you to be able to Go through, Jeff, but I mean They were horrible. And Karl Anthony towns is a really good player, but he wasn't guard guard guard anybody and Andrew Wiggins. The thing that he's most interested in is video games and gummy Berg going bears. Me. I mean, that guy's underwhelmed since he's been in the league for me. I think he could be a much better player. "Information before I open my mouth wanted to make sure I have this right so now I've got it concerning Andrew Wiggins said for a few weeks on the show no no no no I get why the warriors did it now our good buddy Marcus Thompson with the famous quote that does get a little misconstrued but are said that that Bob Myers was swindled in the deal with Andrew Wiggins and the Minnesota Timberwolves because the fault lies if the warriors waited until the end of the season they could've gotten more probably another draft pick from the T. wolves that was the thought and of course I've I've counted out with a with a few different thoughts I know what the real motivator must've been the real motivator must have been that the warriors ownership said let's get below the luxury threshold so let's do this now okay that's probably motivator number one and no fan wants to hear that no fan wants to hear all you took last because you want to save money you chase center owning billionaires however you can make the case that getting out of the luxury threshold allows them to go get more players in the off season and that is good for fans but I think it goes way deeper than that Andrew Wiggins needed to get out of Minnesota he needed everybody to see what he could do inside a healthy organization he needs everybody to see what he can do when you're not asked to be a star Williams will merely with the warriors be asked to be a really good player and he is that he will not be asked to be a one on a championship squad no one's asking them to do that the early returns look really good and it also allows awakens time do you get to know staff dray to a lesser degree clay Thompson I won't be back till next year but it allows him time to become one of the guys and become a part of the organization and does not meet the warriors will hit the ground running a little bit better in October if he's had that time I think you can make the case for all of that what if there's this add a nod to Colin cowherd who brought this up earlier today and he shall I know Colin if Colin is saying this he's saying it because someone he trusts told them it's possible not because he just wants to throw something out there and get a lot of clicks so here's what he said he's hearing that one of the motivating factors from the warriors why is that if Yanis war to become available it's a big if it's a probably not but don't you want to be ready if it comes up that way so let's say Yanis becomes available well what we need you're going to need a few things number one you will need a salary that you can trade back in return number two you'll need very very high level draft capital those are the two things the warriors acquired and then number three you would in a perfect world have players that the Milwaukee Bucks would be interested in so let's think about that for a second does it everywhere in shock all of those boxes if you're the box and you need to sell to your fans a Yanis is forcing a trade and here's what we're getting in return while there's NO way gives another player Hey I'm too high level first round draft picks fit the bill I would submit that that's probably about what I what a Jana's deal would look like that's about right so what the warriors are doing here is in addition to all the other things I just mentioned there simply allowing themselves to be ready what is the scenario where Yanis would force a deal out of Milwaukee sounds to me based on what people are saying this area would be the box not winning the title this year they're the best team are there going to probably be the one seed across the entire NBA and so the opportunity is there for them to go ahead and and when there is not a super team that's in their way I guess you could say the Lakers and clippers are sort of super teams but Hey you know they both got two stars not three but if you're the boxing you don't win the title this year there's a possibility honest let's round it goes yeah that there's not going to happen this year or so I can happen here SL I need to get out and don't you want to be ready well here's the rule I wanted to look up there is a misconception that if you've acquired a player you cannot trade said player for six more months not true truth is you can't sign a player and then trade that player for six months it inside and awakens they acquired him through trade they could trade and awakens today if they wanted to hear is they can't do they cannot pair his salary with a nother salary on their squad and trade in right away to do that here's the wait two months now they'll be ready if the box lose in June and free agency is a couple weeks away and the draft is right around the corner the warriors who will be eligible if Jana's looks at the box and says get me the heck out of here right now the warriors will be ready if they haven't even traded d'angelo Russell yet when we get to the end of the NBA finals they're not as ready so on the laundry list of reasons why you acquire Andrew Wiggins now instead of van there are a bunch this one might not be the first but put it on the west put on the list I think that is much more on brand too don't you the warriors front office one thing they have never not this current group has ever been accused of being stupid here's another thing they've never been accused of not being ready they have been opportunistic they have been ready and they've been ready at times to get stars that you had no idea they had a chance to get a good dollars shocked you Kevin Durant made you spit your coffee shop and they were working on it for years behind the scenes I have no doubt they're doing it again I'd I'd turn it unlikely but not out of the question not out of the question at all we get into this with money pool hell join us in about eight minutes Eric in Oakland on the sports later hi Eric what's going on Hey mark Kay I'm just pull into a triple a grabbing some dinner but I now let's start let's stop right there let's talk this out first of all nice job calling it a triple a chipotle as opposed to chip poll today and second what will you be ordering when you go inside but not not tear down Ms okay that's good to know I'm not suggesting that I do know that there is a calorie savings of up to three hundred to get the ball instead of a tortilla wraps burritos I'm gonna go to bowl good to know about two hundred dollars okay good for you yeah those tortillas are gargantuan it's amazing how they rob those suckers up there's a lot going on in there and this way when you get the ball you also get to dip the chips and I think that is the the on site here on the entire process there you go but I got a hit on this thing is I I I didn't watch the show today earlier I heard about that the calling tower to me is a little bit of a a show man and I I almost like Mary Pierce takes better than Krakow cooling towers last year the guy doesn't seem to fall sports clubs closes I I hope the guy with a few words and and I don't really understand yes explain more to me talk money pool you just a second ago the contrary under Megan's today if they wanted to look like you're not sure the did the trade deadline passed two weeks ago okay okay sorry yeah so that was the that that that that's a technicality I want to say my point being yes you can trade for someone and then trade them again right after that I need to know you're like oh he's like oh they're quite a big seller and we get dear Laura also makes twenty nine point three million dollars fifty thirty million dollars a year the next four years as a gargantuan contract what is the deal why would big acquire a trade decent Rossell to acquire acquire a tree decent weekends the end will hold a pretty much a a more complete player as of right now honestly you really it's not good to see I don't know what all around player I don't know why I agree with that I don't know if I agree with that Eric number one number two you're talking about a guy who wants to play point guard which I think is a little bit less specialized than what Andrew Wiggins does as a small forward third really the point would come down to this you if you're the warriors you got a look at the Bucks roster and say okay what would make more sense I can guarantee you this here's a couple things I know about DS loan Andrew agents both of them when you look at them on the surface and you look at their salary you would say no no no the the these both of them are being overpaid however I think Wiggins is a little bit less dime a dozen then D. Angelo Russell is number one and number two as far as a locker room presence give me awakens a hundred times over d'angelo Russell I think there's a lot going on with Russell but people don't know about Hey I'm the Timberwolves badly wanted him simply because Karl Anthony towns wants them at around the league I don't think many other teams do so if you want to have one of them and you know that you need to have a trade peace to me Wiggins is way more valuable than Russell it's a scene I I don't quite agree but I still think it's much unlikely Yanis is on the best team in the NBA he's from Greece is nice lotus as city chase really care about the glut with the valley or New York he says he loves and he gets a supermax and the walking to remember guys up he gets paid more I think it's more likely that curry goes with the walking before you ever comes to the back okay curry is not going to Milwaukee Eric I'm with you from this standpoint all by what you're saying this is very unlikely that was the word that I used but it's not out of the realm of possibility that it simply the warriors being ready if things fall a certain way that's all it is it's probably not gonna happen I don't know what John is actually wants what makes them tick I do know there's I know that words don't mean a whole lot when it comes to free agents I know that I can count from the ceiling to the floor how many times I've heard of free agents said I want to spend the rest of my career right here and then three weeks later there's a trade demand through an agent Dobbins all the times I've no I've never spoken the honest for a second I know what he.

Warriors deal Russell to Wolves, get back Wiggins
"For people that missed it. The warriors and Timber Wolves agreed on trade us in the Ngelo Russell Jacob Evans in Amari spelman to Minnesota for Andrew Wiggins a a top three protected twenty twenty one first round pick and a twenty twenty two second round pick. I like to steal from Minnesota. I think Karl Anthony towns and de Ngelo. They're obviously good friends. And that's big because towns it's been very frustrated recently but again let's get back to what the warriors got back in return. I'm not a big Fan. I'm not a fan of that that contract but I guess when you're the warriors they're already a situation where a lot of their guys are locked up so I understand that for them. It doesn't matter as much for another team they just Trying to add a guy that can help them on both ends of the floor and the contract isn't as big of a deal for them. But I just think with twenty-three-year-old all-star which is what Russell was he. He was an all star last year. I just don't think that's enough to get back in return. I do like that. They got the draft pick again. Talk Re protected. Twenty twenty. One should be a much better draft twenty twenty based on what the experts are all saying so in top. You're protected. I mean this Minnesota team made it could finish between four and ten could end up being lottery picked so I do think that is very valuable. That's my favorite part of the acquisition here for the warriors I just feel like with wiggins. He's been so disappointing. Maybe maybe they feel like they can help him reach us well potential. We know they've done a very good job of developing guys. They have great leader as a strong culture which may really help someone like wiggins. This could be totally wrong around here. I will admit that maybe wiggins goes there and this is exactly what he needed to reach us and become a better player in guys like Steph and clay and dream on push push him. I just feel like how did they wait until the offseason because they couldn't afford to be patient here. There really wasn't a sense of urgency. I would like to see if there were different offers or different teams that kind of came to the table. I just don't think this is the kind of package that you pounce on when you have a great trade ship and again twenty-three-year-old all-star and no roe pressure to make a move now so but I it is newsday what you're saying. Though had Russell and curry not work together you think that Russell's trade value could have diminished. So I see what you're saying. I'm just not a big Fan. I think that's my problem here. Yeah and I think for Minnesota standpoint It's a very interesting gamble. Because of course they want him as a free agent right and it's always nice to be able to sign a young player like that. If you get the right opportunity comes along but they miss out. It's so let's remember that to make this deal happen. They basically had to ship out Jeff Teague for basically nothing it trade Covington to get some assets assets kinda like sweet things up and they have to wind up trading wiggins out. It's actually make this deal happen with golden state so I don't WANNA say Minnesota gutted their assets but they actually you. You know invest in quite a bit to get Russell. Now the upside to doing that is you're gonNA have a very exciting offensive oriented team where you've got your best players are both all three point shooters with Karl Anthony towns and Diangelo Russel and they should fit together. Great in pick and roll it could pop situations right so for a fan base. That's been through a lot here. Typical era the Jimmy Butler you know You know being upset a few years ago in the long losing streak this year. I think there are some genuine hope and optimism with that pairing between those two guys. But I think my concern is that they really have stripped out a lot of their other proven talent around them and I think that both those guys are just minus defenders and that part it makes me nervous right. Because you know if you're trying to picture these guys is like this inside outside duo right well you want at least one of them to be a plus defender. And I don't think that's it's ever GonNa Happen for either one of those guys and so now it creates some roster challenges where you have to go out and target some other perimeter defenders guys who can help cover up for Russell in towns so that you can at at least be you know average on the defensive end. If you WANNA be a winning team so I guess long story short I think they invested an awful lot of assets. Just make this Russell thing happened and I'm not totally extolled. That he's the right guy to pair with towns but big picture. They did the most important thing which is keep Karl Anthony towns happy. He's their franchise guy he's been disgruntled. You you know for for months now because of all this losing and so I think they do get a short term went out of that.
Kevin Durant reveals when he knew he'd leave Warriors after last year
"Lot of these trades. Aides are confusing and Diangelo Russel. This is his fourth team now. and He's twenty three he's eight dynamite all star and so he kinda got thrown into the mix. Because if you're the if you're the the the warriors and you could get him in the process of losing durant you do that a hundred times out of one hundred. It's just the question. Is that if I told you at the time right that when they were losing him you know when they were losing durant and gaining him that it would turn into Andrew Wiggins and a top three protected first round pick. I think we would have said at the point in time. Okay I got it because you're already seeing the first blush results on NBA NBA twitter. That he's kind of playing the role of Harrison Barnes and the first championship run remember Harrison Barnes was the crucial member of that was and that wiggins is going to play that role. Livingston's not there anymore right so so he would be that guy. And if you're Steve Kerr you're like I can. Let's get to this guy if I'm coaching up. Three million green and his personality Wiggins of former number one overall here comes wiggins. I'm thinking he's thinking that and is now just think about it. Think about it next year. Are they open up in that beautiful jewel up in San Francisco. It's all filled up right and Curry Klay. Draymond Andrew Wiggins and number five stroll on the floor and number five could be the first overall selection in the draft left or the fourth overall selection in the draft. They could have all those guys showing up there next year and have the first and fourth overall picks in the draft tiredly possible

"Looked very underwhelming. He's Twenty-three turning twenty four. But I think to your point we are our collective group. Think of basketball intellectuals have come to this no pronouncement on Andrew Wiggins. Whereas maybe an actual front office. Who's actually making these decisions see see something different or really would convince themselves that I could get something more out of him. Maybe Andrew's been used terribly wrong, the whole time and the he's the guards he's been next to been Ricky Rubio in Jeff Teague who haven't got the most out of him more. He's had five different coaches or whatever. And they say we think we put him alongside Bradley Beal what any trip, but for this for this example, we put them alongside Brad. They Beal we believe in our coaching staff, we believe in infrastructure here. You know, it's a way to kind of get younger while maintaining the equally onerous contract on. On your books. So I I know the wolves aren't exploring that. But in in this kind of hypothetical realm, that's the type of player to me that makes sense for the wizards to have Benchley looked to move. John wall four. I don't know. How confidently this is a possibility. But I always viewed for example, Victor depot is being undervalued player because the Orleans stupid decision to hire Scott scowls, the coach today, and he didn't wanna play young players everywhere scouts cows. When he wanted his players. Yes. Exactly. And then I always thought if the early Bokan land in the right spot before he turns whatever aides or whatever number of years in the league, I think he could be very good player. The player that everybody kinda thought he was in that draft class, and you know, lack of stability Orlando held him back not helped Aaron Gordon etcetera etcetera, but one year in Oklahoma City didn't look great because it was a little bit awkward complying next to rose, especially very pissed off the first year after Haiti was wasn't much oxygen for anyone else. Seems we knew about Vic about all the depot all all along. And all I mean, I don't have personal or actions with them. But I think it's pretty well established that she was is was a heck of a worker and the very to be great very hungry to be great. And I do have personal. Variance with Andrew wagons. Everyday that suggests something that isn't that. I'm not saying GAN's is super lazy or anything like that. But he's hunger. Does not even approach Victor all the deep levels. Right. So you see that hunger in the see the hunger in like Devon Booker. It's obvious. You see it and been Simmons when he's happy, which is kind of strange thing. But you see Damian Lillard like, you know, when Greg I kinda when they're the blazers on our agenda. We talk about whether or not Famer team to watch us here Dame. I've always been slow to embrace Damian Lillard as a superstar superstar in this league. And I'm there this year, which I I listen to you guys. Yeah. Concur. But but the Senate we hold them to is higher than other teams because Dame says that's what the expects of their team..

"Even though it was not a great performance by the team. That's that's that's not bad for eight. They got a lot of talent. I mean, it's it's it's just going to be a real there to me the most interesting team in the league between now and the deadline because I feel like they could go seven different ways. And we didn't even talk about Markle full to I. Allegedly soon. Well, we were supposed to you know, there was reportedly going to be an update last week last week came and went and maybe there was an update, but it wasn't released. Right. So probably wasn't good news. Right. Yet. But I mean, it was he was mostly out four to six weeks. I believe six weeks tomorrow. So, you know, it's again, it's by the way, I thought four to six weeks was preposterous thing to say for for a guy who's gone through that to put a time frame on that was preposterous. Right. So I mean, listen the Sixers of not the Sixers put themselves. Plenty of you've edit this out if you don't want to but you have openly questioned to me privately whether maybe publicly maybe about the public for the first time you've questioned whether full will play a game for the Sixers again. Yeah. I don't think he will. I mean, I it look maybe he will. I hope he does like I just at this point. I just wanted to have a successful career. Right. But I think just. Philadelphia. I mean as a guy who's been in the northeast for a long time, there probably isn't a worst place to be if you're under the microscope, then in Philadelphia, I know now now the eagles are out of the play out and the Sixers the Sixers have all these expectations. And I just think it would be the best thing for both sides for him to get traded somewhere else. Because if he's Markle Foltz in Orlando or land or Sacramento Phoenix or wherever if he doubled pumps a free throw or doesn't start or doesn't play. He's just a guy on the team as opposed to the former number one pick. It was supposed to be the culmination of the process and the perfect fit with Ben. And Joel and all these other things that he is in at least right now. It just I don't think it's going to work there. But again, this is another thing we're going to have to deal with. I mean, this team just has so many things that deal what they don't have enough that you know there. There's obviously these you mentioned the stuff with Jimmy Butler. There's all that stuff going on. Ben Simmons has taken less perimeter jumpers than work unfolds in his career. I mean, there's a lot of stuff going on with his team. And again, that's fascinating. Here's a question when they play the wolves tomorrow night. We'll Wiggins be closer to forty points. Like he had last week or four points. I bet Andrew Wiggins has a big game tomorrow. Okay. Kirk. What do you see with the seventy Sixers who I see a toxic. Cocktail of volatility and tie. That's a Harvard sentence right there, Kurt. I'm worried man, I'm worried they got a new GM. They got players that are that are wild sort of try to understand how they're fitting together. There's the woes report about Jimmy Butler going off on coach Brown. And if you look at their Kista typical markers day look like an average MBA team with championship expectations. And as Tim has pointed out there heading into a very difficult stretch head of the break, and I'm not confident that if they go three and nine or four eight and that stretch that this is the type of group that will handle that. Well, that's right. They've they've been struggling they've been having issues while they've been pretty good like. Like what? That's right. And if you if you have a good colder in you can look at a schedule like that every team goes through my gosh, look.

"It was put to me today a conversation in the gym where all the great conversations occur yet. Would you straight up? Let me put it to you and Bill fashion who says no Wiggins Andrew Wiggins for John wall. I would do that. If I was washed in five seconds. I would not do that as Minnesota me too. I would do that in five seconds. But here's the case for Minnesota towns. The best towns what's going to be the best town. When are we gonna see the best version of towns, they they've they've been sort of dabbling around with a point guard. You know, they've they've tried to bring quality point play in the Minnesota. They hit a miracle home run with Derrick rose, but d- rose is is mainly still the best version of de rose as a score not distributor. Don't you? Get the best out of your towns investment has point guard that can set them up has. I'm trying I'm trying come on. Can you send me a list of your ten closest friends because I want to prize you at an undisclosed location a month from now explain to you in an intervention style that the wizards have no chance traded John wall? It is an impossibility. Can we get Mexico to pay for that wall? I see they give a better chance of trade and Dwight our John wall is I would say they most untradable contract in the entire league. Play this game. White Howard now now okay question. I'll ask without crossing any lines. Yeah. How what's the over under a number of NBA games that Dwight Howard will play in in for the rest of his life. Oh, wow. So if I said forty nine point five would you go over under? I I personally I'm gonna go way way way way under because it's my theory that he's not gonna play another NBA basketball game for the rest of his life. I wouldn't be surprised. He he's he is a lot of miles on him already. He's Adelaida injuries. And at some point, you know, the question for him as whether he wants to go through what shack went through the last two years in Cleveland and boss. Yes. When he was just big fat show of himself shack. And then check had like this moment on the Celtics for like a month when everybody was going. Oh, wow. Shack who then he got her. It's just too hard for big understand the for. Hey, there's one there's one front court guy. We should mention who is ineligible for front court. But at least would have been fun for the discussion was Ben Simmons who I don't think is should be an all-star starter. But the league was was a little more finite about the positions this time. And it's like if you've haute for seven. It has to be for a guard. So I don't know if you feel like Ben Simmons over cameras a conversation, we need to have. I personally think no. Now, and I have recency bias. I watched him commit seven turnovers in the first half last night against the Washington. Wizards he was really bad, and there there, can you? I have you know, how old school? I am. I you cannot put a guy who's afraid to shoot the basketball at you. Can't name him NBA starter. Just just a tough one for me. It's funny now 'cause the Sixers fans they really good. We ran a piece this week from Ben Dietrich diehard six fan, really, really pro Simmons..

"But he does have a concussion so he'll be in that protocol. But the point is to me that was a flagrant foul because if we reverse it in its own obviously defensive player versus offensive player it's any shot to the head defense to offhand or show to make a show to it's a flagrant foul at and that to me was a flagrant two. But when it's offense to to defense, it's reversed where they get away with whatever they want to get away with it. And they didn't even go to check it out the rest didn't even look at it. But to your point you must be right about this. Because the thunder didn't seem real upset about it during the obviously they're very concerned about their fallen teammate. But it wasn't like there was fire in their eyes except for one thunder. And that was little Schreuder who it took another minute of play the game went on for another minute. Once they got back to basketball and Schreuder finally got upset in started Jong with Teague. And then Wiggins got involved in they're going back and forth. And then Schreuder was trying to say you guys were laughing at us while he was down laughing at him while he was down. I have no idea why that would be a little outdated. And then Wiggins went way out there after the game because he was talking about Schreuder saying, I don't know what's wrong with him. He was just gay. He was acting crazy for no reason. Well, that's just bizarrely completely out of bounds than Wiggins tried to take it back on Twitter afterwards, basically apologizing basically saying I didn't say that when I'm pretty sure he did say that because he was quoted by several media members as saying well, yes that two days earlier there rose got in trouble for saying something about okay, do not going to be sometimes get when a motion is highly logic. So here's the irony of this whole discussion, I've never been a big Andrew Wiggins fan, obviously number one in that draft that year when I thought. Joel Embiid should've gone number one at bat. He would he would have that was always like debatable. Should you take him or not? And the point is last night was the most aggressively. I've ever seen Andrew Wiggins play. He was in attack mode all night is because politicians does gone. Maybe maybe maybe it's where like the reign of terror is over because it was hard to play demanding. He will grind you down. And all of a sudden, they got a thirty two year old. Ryan Saunders flips on in. It's like everybody loves it. And it's like all free and easy now. Maybe he just said, okay. I'm going to let it fly tonight which included this to the face. But he went forty and ten in down the stretch of that game the thunder. We're really really trying to pull it out of the fire and Andrew Wiggins wouldn't let them right? Well, I'd I'd never seen him. Do that before. We I don't know. What do you think you'd think Wigan should be suspended? And we'll it's hard to suspend somebody who didn't even get a flagrant and the game. We've. No. I don't think he would say I mean. Upgraded. They might because again he initiated that. He did that. Right. Right. Right. Whether it's not like, oh that was accident. Will he led with it? Right. I just think you got it..

I don't know that they are worth his love. I. Yeah. This evening stories, Jimmy Robertson. Philadelphia was playing. Quite well, just seems to clash with everybody. Whatever he doesn't like anybody. He doesn't like a thority. He doesn't like anybody. He's he's he's a very very fine players leaves. He leaves, you know, broken glass, right? He leaves broken glass. Wherever you go out seems angry is Westbrook. But he he's always. But he's like, but I'll stay here. I'll be loyal to this team seems to be he actually to read and see him interviewed. He's doesn't strike me as angry as he does on the planes angry. Yeah. Coty play these great on the court to politics. Mr Tony, Corey Stewart, Republican in Virginia who lost sim came Tim Cain, rather? As for governor. Last full has said that he is going down the end of this year as he said until and unless the Commonwealth is ready for my views on things, they're not. And that's not right now. Ily guy. I guess that sorta defended preserving confederate monuments things like that was not all that the people of Judah said, we don't want you. Yes. And so he's not going to run again, which leads me into this other thing that that everyone tells me I'm wrong about Beddoe. What's better orator? He lost. He lost. Why would you why? He's all in one. Why do you start him in game two? He's oh in one. I get this Kingsbury. Maybe he's good with quarterback. You don't understand that? He did very well for a democrat a place where Democrats typically do not do. Well, but is that a reflection of him or just that everyone says that Kratz fair quaint loss I wouldn't count him out yet? I mean. Well, I think Democrats are looking for some star that has yet to be discovered kings. I believe one time one time in Najjar would refer to as your history. A candidate has lost the Senate race, and then subsequently gone on to attain the presidency, and that was ABRAHAM LINCOLN. A while. A while while he was in office wild second-best president role. Yeah. Free internet. Mrs Tony Hall. What he did you vote for him? Nobody outside of Illinois knew he lost for the center. Didn't they didn't know wasn't on Twitter. Then MRs Tony, this is a very disturbing story van licking the doorbell. Yeah. This is just the headline Manica undercut Nigel story, man. Cut on video licking houses intercom system for hours. Not once Tootsie roll pop four Lixin Tizi rule Senate. Now, this is for our this is a California man facing charges. Roberto a Royal eight thirty three was cutting the surveillance licking the system for hours in Salinas in California. Unfortunately, I've seen this video. He looks sort of only right into the ring video camera. So he he realizes he's being videoed now to credit. That's not all he did he returned later reportedly to urinate and feel extension cords. Threat clearly triple threatening occupants of the house was there something he was working through by doing. But the the the people because the security system was activated. When it got close, and they were like, why is it going off? It's too early in the morning, and then he sat there and laughed at it was this guy. So he's he's facing a little bit of trouble. I mean, what's the cry? What doorbell looking passing for Rowling and violation of probation and generally. Creepy. Does that surprise you? Does that surprise you probation? If this thing he's doing though, and if he legal God help us if he's here. Mersal. Right. The guy looks at his door bell..

"Andrew Wiggins me Karl Anthony towns is is gonna go out. He's a complete player he blocked shots, he rebounds, he can shoot three. He can put it on the floor. He can post up he can do everything. Well, the difference when you coach at a guy like that. When you come to a university, you're trying to develop these guys I use the classic example, our big we have some pretty good guys play the center position. But they don't do all the things that are call or ethics Davis. Saw some of those guys can do so forth. Mike Parkes the bear physical guy, but he doesn't have athleticism that a call than what you hope to do. Get all those traits and one guy, but in college, you kind of have to deviate out. So we have Mike Parkes as more of a physical game. Did we have Keven Davenport who is a player? He's more of a finance guy. Look at dawn who does things a little different. Do you look at victim? And you look at all those guys are good players, but pay bring something different to the table. And that's the tough part about coaching them is that you got to find the right moment in the right spots to use those guys affectively. How is it? Some time players come back at a high level pro. And we're in the pro game. A long time instinctively to game comes to you. Now, you're forced to teach it to guys coming out of high school junior college then CW now not every player gets it instinctively. They really comes a learning processes it something you enjoy the Santerre's. Sometimes it gets a little frustrating. Well, it is. But the thing that I love and this is where my background.
"andrew wiggins" Discussed on The Herd with Colin Cowherd
"We'll now he's regressed Andrew Wiggins invisible. I mean, I I have been waiting for the Minnesota Timberwolves to pop for three years, and it ain't happening and Jimmy Butler got tired of it. And now, I'm officially tired of it and other tired of their coach Karl Anthony towns who I would've sworn three years ago. It was going to be the best center in the league is not the same player. Andrew Wiggins is a nice kid gives you eighteen you don't remember any of them. And I've just I've just completely whiffed on this franchise. They just never at their eleven in the west not in the NBA their eleven in the west. I give up where Colin was right. I think the thing I'm proudest of of this show is most media people just react to what happened, and we don't sometimes we do. But mostly we predict we watched the games, and we say, here's what's going to happen. And a lot of times, we're wrong. But I like that our staff and our team has the guts to do it. And we pick the Annapolis coal to make the playoffs when they had losing record. And we said keep your eye on Indianapolis. Andrew lock is not getting touched. And we picked up on this about week six. We said this offense of line. They fixed it he he'd got all data throw. They're not great defensively, but they're owning time of possession. They're not turning the ball over Lux getting. A bit early and wheat. We said this team late September early October with everybody bailed on him. We said this team's gonna make the playoffs. They're going to sneak in, but they're going to go on a winning streak and everything we thought has happened there. Now, very good time possession. They start very quickly. And what happens is now that defense with a lead congest rear its head back in. They really created a really good pass. Rush into Shawn Watson was under you know, peril the entire game. So when you get leads and you watch the colts. Now, they have nine draft picks. They're going to draft pass rushers. An Andrew luck is going to have leaves sit on the sideline and watch the colts pass rushing specialist deteriorate the opponents for the next eight years we bought him early. Nobody else did proud of it where Colin was raw. Doug Peterson got hired by the Philadelphia Eagles as head coach. I said it didn't even call plays. Kansas city. How do you? I know he played a play for Green Bay. I remember that. But how do you go from not calling plays to run in the Philadelphia Eagles? He's now one of the best playcallers in the sport. He's four for four on fourth down. You know, people say necessity is the mother of invention. But that's not always true. Sometimes the mother of invention is advertising. Yeah. Or pure accident. How about ego maniacal delusion? Absolutely. Or just a desperate longing. To be cool. I'm Robert lamb, and I'm Joe McCormick. We're the hosts of the science podcasts stuff to blow your mind. And now we're branching off into the exploration of invention. Invention is the story of human history told one piece of technology at a time the things we made and how they made us invention publishes every Monday, listen and subscribe.

"That's not to eat. If his voice resonates is voice residents. Not a problem at all. But he will have the opportunity at least for a little while. Now. We'll see how long that runs. And of course, he has deep connections with the franchise as well something that I thought was was also I don't know if it's if it's related, but I thought was interesting just with the timing. James Nunnelee was one of the he was the last basically guy on their roster signed on on a non guaranteed contract did not guarantee deadline is is imminent. And so he was cut right around the time that that the typical firing was announced. So now, they also opened up a roster spot. We'll see what Laden does with that. I mean, Minnesota defining success. I mean, this is always a challenging thing for team and what they do with his roster spot. Now, they're changing at least some part of their personnel structure less than a month before right around a month before the trade deadline. So how does that affect whatever they see coming here and grin, and Minnesota's pretty pretty kind of stuck in in where they are just because the biggest pieces that they had were involved in the Butler trade in our don't think they wanna move those in the other guys, you know, it's gonna be hard to move Jiang and everything else. But if this isn't good enough for Glen Taylor. It's going. To be a pretty heavy lift to get from this point to what say even the playoffs given how stack the west is right now, then we'll see a I'm not sure whether Saunders will be an upgraded or not. I would actually shock me if they are playing a little bit worse overall. Maybe he can open up the offense. Take more advantage of Karl Anthony towns, but that's really I mean Karl Anthony towns being top five offensive player in the NBA is their path to even making the playoffs at this point. Right. So we talked about this on the fifteen sixty we're asked like what is the wool ceiling in their path, and they don't really have one because Andrew Wiggins isn't any good, and they don't have any kind of flexibility really going forward. I mean, they got Karl towns, and you know, maybe Joshua Koji could be a decent starter someday always aways away from that offensively. And that's what it really just don't have anything else that's going to be here much past this season. So I think it's also very interesting that this firing occurred. If it really is while, you know, we just need to play better this year. If that's really the. Thought how is that gonna affecting the deadline? Right. I think they actually could maybe try if the realistic about where they're at you know, trying to keep all these guys for a fifteen percent chance of getting the eighth seed. That's probably not that smart. It will see how they look over the next month or so before the deadline, but they do have some guys that they could move their Grossman playing welders miss five straight with an ankle injury. A T is someone they might look to move especially since he's under contract for next year. I think you'll probably opt in though, that's not entirely certain maybe just wants to get out of there might be a starting position available for Meltzer Thais Jones, be restricted free agent touch. Gibson expiring contracts. They have some guys anti Talavera, you know, he's not gonna fetch anything necessarily. But he could be part of thrown in a deal. So we'll see me if they wanted to try to punt on this year. They might be able to get some assets going forward. You know, I'm not sure that that's necessarily going to be the approach in late night. May I assume probably realized that he's a lame duck. But his incentive will. Likely be to try to make the is good as they can't be the season of couple other notes. Indie Greer tubes, right hand man was also fired Monty Williams and Chauncey Billips are also being mentioned as possible can't Billips for either a front office or coaching role. And the team is determined to not give the next head coach personnel power as well..
Paul George of Oklahoma City Thunder sides with Jimmy Butler
"Reports have. Surfaced, George Sodano from ESPN is the main source of this. He says that the heat and the timber wolves had a deal done for Jimmy Butler. The two teams were exchanging medicals, which is the universal sports. Signed of a trade is done is. Now, let's make sure that this guy doesn't have a need. That's about to explode. They were exchanging the medicals and Tom tibidow called Pat Riley and asked for an additional piece to throw in at the last minute in the deal, Pat Riley called him in for and hung up. The phone on him. But as you've read reports all week for major awards and asking others. The two teams will certainly the heat hope to reengage with the timber wolves here before too long. My question is. How long till the nuggets get in there. How long till the nuggets decide you know, what let's throw our hat into the ring we have been through this as an organization before at some point this situation becomes untenable with a superstar that wants out the nuggets dealt with that with Carmelo Anthony. So. Could we potentially take advantage because my my guess is? That the nuggets have. You know, thrown at taxed maybe sent a Facebook message to the timber wolves. My guess is they haven't pushed very hard. Nothing more than just overtures and normal GM GM speak. Because one if you believe reports the nuggets label, Gary Harris is untouchable along with Nicole Yokich Jamal Murray, which I think is a nice thought, but. Let's be fair. At what those three guys are one of those guys does not have as high as ceiling as the other two, right? Like, I love Gary Harris. And I love what he's become but to label. Gary Harris untouchable is a little bit. Surprising. So there's that. But then there's also the idea of why in the world would the timber wolves wanted trae Jimmy Butler to the team that they just barely beat out for the postseason last year. And while that's still a valid question. If I were on, Minnesota's sports talk radio. I would be saying do not trade Jimmy Butler two the nuggets if you got to get rid of them get rid to the Eastern Conference. But again, how long? Can put up with questions like that. How long can Scott late in deal with being yelled at at practice by Jimmy Butler? How long can Karl Anthony towns Andrew Wiggins and Jimmy Butler awkwardly tiptoe around each other in the timber wolves locker room? I would say
