"Josh Reynolds out wide to the left three receivers go to the right. Brown eyes in the backfield. Emotions out left off the shotgun, singling out to his wide receivers Brown back into the backfield to his left clock. Is it three? Now We've got a flag at a bull start against the ramps. False start. Ember 77. Offense. Five yard penalty. Third down Andrew Whitworth 15 year man. L S u Starting his 217 regular season game tonight. It's out of his stance Early and now 30 to 37 with 1 26. What if you're the Rams? The last thing you want to do is not convert this give the ball back to the 40 Niners. They're playing extremely well. Right now. They have to convert this third down. You don't want to give the ball back to the 40 Niners offense the way they're playing First two receivers right one left. The emotion left right past Whiteside's company, Laterals the ball back behind Darrell Henderson runs to the near side line, but it's not gonna bounce shy of the first down. Is like a hook and ladder play. Quick pass to come, who flipped it back, Henderson, but he gets knocked out of the 32 clock is stopped with 1 20 to go and the 40 Niners are gonna get the ball back. I've never seen a play like that until the end of the game. But it was Super Cup. He pitches back to Henderson and Henderson gets knocked out of bounds, which is the worst thing.

Long fifty five. I WANNA straight up before we move on. Andrey I won't try to stop playing that. I can stop trying to say I said the rams are GonNa win four games. They went to the Super Bowl. That's not true. Eleven that year szucs to stop that. And I'M GONNA keep saying and as long as you keep planning no time line. Your timeline key is correct. Thank you yes but they did when eleven or twelve games a year say go to the. Super Bowl say that they went to the playoffs. That year. And we won't conversational more but stop trying to make. It seem as though I don't know what I'm talking about this this day in two thousand one. So far we've had Willis Reed on May eighth nine hundred. Seventy had his willis reed moment for whatever that's worth. Nobody swear but now with a twenty five eighty nine right after that I. He played four minutes. He case started the game. And you got a couple of rebounds in a bucket and then it's like okay. Setback down I for the life of me. We'll get it. I will get. We'll circle back because there's another one as well but as right now we're joined by the rams left tackle Andrew Whitworth joining us on the sprint with good morning how you doing good morning how y'all doing bigwig. Whatever man nothing much just kind of set these guys straight every now and then you know I picked. You ought to win four games a year. You are one eleven and went to the playoffs but they wanna make seem like I said. At the year I went to the Super Bowl so just want to set the record straight before people start saying the wrong thing. Ed Drew Andrew. Would you tell him picking picking you guys to win four games when you went love and it's a big West no matter what. Well that is the way I will say that. Yeah no it is but so back for your. Say the rams when we talked about this is that you know. I'M GONNA train and work out. Thanks for being saying safe and keep playing. I still love the game enjoyed competing so we can just keep the ride as soon as the. Nfl schedule was released. Did you your computer? Or are you on chill Mo like what kind of athlete are you when you're not actually on the field Yeah I mean I. I heard it was out I went and looked and You know you you check out the typical things like where you're spic trips and the streets kind of on the road and then Obviously you know who the first opponent is. Because it's really your focus for the next couple of months. What about that? Would you saw that? It was the cowboys the first game. And obviously there's a million variables up in the air right now as far as the timing of it whether or not there's going to be fans but did you think it was going to be somebody like the cowboys to kick off the opening. S-o-f-i stadium. Yeah I think most of US assume that was GONNA be the game main. I think you're GonNa snow on the relationships there between Jerry. Dan and and he's been critical critical. Part of really The Stadium and everything else and moving out here to la. I mean you kind of figured that was coming you know. It's been a big franchises to two. That are covered a lot and and Being in La. I come opening the stadium. The cowboys having the opportunity to play with Todd. Gurley girls no longer there. You pick up a young running back and cam acres from Florida state. What do you? What have you seen? Haven't had a chance to see him. Live in person obviously a practice field but the little bit that you've seen what do you believe that he'll bring to the backfield for you guys? Well I think he's just a got you know in the bill to somebody who can kind of play every down. He's he's back he's GonNa play every he's quick he's fast. You can see him in his own scheme. I think he's going to be somebody that's GonNa be really well. We run a lot and He seems to be that guy can make that one cut and accelerate and I think that You know he looks down McKee. Looks like somebody that'll fit right in what we like to do. And you just look forward to the opportunity to get those guys. It's going to be a challenge. Obviously this year without an off-season these rookies and All throughout this class but Everything we can do to speed him get him up to speed with us. He's going to be critical and we're looking forward to having him. Speaking of the off season. How difficult has it been having no? Ota's no mini camps or or anything like that the first time. You probably see your teammates in full gear will be this summer. You know. It's definitely been different. I think in some ways There's been positives to it too. Though I mean it's it's one of those things where you wish the offseason you have the chance to see the jobs and be in the same room and trained together. you know you're hopeful that everybody's doing their part and and getting their work in physically but you know it's just being on zoom calls and being on being able to see each other face to face like that in some ways it's been good too because there's a. Lotta teammates that you know throughout work and really how you split up they work. You don't see as much get a chance to talk to and some of these zooms get a little more time to just sit in the room and you're waiting for it goes to come in different things you just sit and talk and converse and You know in in some in some parts. It's been good but a lot of conversation a lot of opportunities you to sit and think about what we should be doing and making sure we're doing things the right way and just maximize our opportunities Andrew. My question is actually to extend a insularity in terms of the game itself number one is how do you feel about coming back and not having any fans and then number two based on a schedule right now house you guys fly the second most miles in the league? Do you think that we're having a negative impact on your performance You know I think a couple of years now since I've been out here we've been on the long list of of of mileage. That's for sure and You know I think we just kind of get used to it. I think it's something we almost adapt and say you know what? Let it be part of our challenge. A little bit of something. That motivates is that people think that they're going to get worse version of US version of us. It's not as good because we're on the line or traveling for. I think it almost gives you a little bit of a chip on your shoulder To prove that you're gonNA bring it no matter how many miles you fly about how much you have to travel and You know I think he come to the motivating factor really if anything and so for us. I think we're we're about that much. And the first part I mean really you know fans and how everything's GonNa play out. You know the young guys on our team you know. It's really not in our hands. It's really not in control and the only thing we can do is prepare and you get ready. Get her mindset right and There's a lot of people sleeping on our football team and we got an opportunity to approve. Twenty whenever they give us an opportunity and setup. All let's get ready do you. Does it make a difference to you that you guys may stay in a region because you have back to back. Games in particular region with the far travel does it. Is that that big of a difference You know I don't think it really matters for performance but I think what's really been cool as we had every season since. I've been here an opportunity to do that whether it's playing in London. You know whether we thought we were. We thought we were planning in Mexico City. We Still WanNa away that week and ended up coming back to La to play the game Every year we've had something similar to that and it's really interested. Also pretending for a bonding aspect because you get away for a week and you Kinda. You're not at home. You're not going back to your house and your place. You're all going back to the same hotel after practice and in between stuff and you get an opportunity to bond. It's been some time together and and I'll tell you what we've really everyone of those years that week. It seemed to be something that kind of brought us together and really promote about a team. Bond if there's going to be in on the road together into Whitworth joining us on the sprint people sought line and Andrew. The Rams have five Primetime Games. That's tied for the most in the league. D Do you look at that when this comes out how many times you GonNa be on Monday night. Football Sunday night football. You Got Sixteen of them whether they're on a Sunday afternoon or a Monday night. They're all the same. I think you're definitely look at it because not really from Oh man. We're going to be on prime time but more of a of a feeling of. Hey you know one of the Games that you're GONNA be late late games and you'll be either be on the road really late at night or traveling and different things and it. Kinda changes your week and the week may be short or long depending on when that game is. I mean you kind of doing that. You more have middle aspect of what's going to be about playing that week or what's GonNa be tough about that week You know it is. That's going to be your challenges. Obviously so you mean you wouldn't like me already thinking about some clothes in July when interest for December no question. I think you know what I really believe this There's always been era. Change like in the sense of when I was younger than the League my first four five years. I felt like you looked at prime time and it was like F- exactly your first thought and everything you worried about is like what you were going to wear our feel like. They're all like all the time you know like they don't even care about it. Just NOT GONNA get more. Followers.

"andrew whitworth" Discussed on The Rich Eisen Show
"He's a good man and a good friend of this program and life is good for him right now certainly especially on the football front his LSU tigers are ranked number one getting set to take on Oklahoma in a national national semifinal and his loss Angeles Rams with him anchoring that offensive line. That's been changed due to injury. Pretty much all around him. The Rams if one three of four and look just like the team last year that made the Super Bowl and last month he is Andrew Whitworth to see you sir. Good see Richie so You it's funny to Brockman and I when we saw you back in our green room we see these purple and gold shoes and you and you said Lsu Right L.. Response was what I said. The lake show and the Lakers man. That's why warm you know what a purple and gold. You know. We're on top right now. Twenty one three in the NBA and undefeated undefeated in college football man and now and now the rams as well let's let's start obviously with With the rams here I what has changed in the last month that you can put your finger on forever. Well I think really just The efficiency throughout our team. You know if it's if it's really the young guys if it's the guys around those young guys playing playing better. It's you know all of us at the same time finding a way to be better version of ourselves to be able to go out every single week. Play at a high level and have that expectation you know not just hope it happens but they expect it to happen anytime you you. You're dealing with Youth and in replace an injured guys. There's going to be all there there's GONNA BE A. Hey you know what development trust and understanding one another talking about in general. I mean really just offense in general I mean you you gotta think of everything from run Plato. Pass by the the box. You know how how you've always done it for them in the past. These young guys gotTA learn how to do that in the back. I learn how to trust them and the quarterback scholar now to trust the line and all those things. So it's it's really about coming together as a group and being able to trust one another go out to expect effect to play well and know that you know what I don't need to worry about. Who's doing their job? I expected everybody is and let's go out and be confident play. Well how taken on a leadership role in this with all those young guys on that line John Andrew. Well I you know it's one of those things I feel like to me How I do things and how I hoped that Those guys would really Also voice that I would do it is that I feel like I'm that way every single day that I'm in the office and work regardless of the situation and so this year even more importantly I think it's one of those things where I always say this young guys to me when you come in the NFL your first couple years. It's about learning how to play. Good football you know then all of a sudden you get a contract and it's about living up to expectations of playing good football and minutes. How do you take the next step? How do you become a leader? How do you become a guy who not only do? You need to play well-being you may guys around you play. Well there's a different progression so for me. I've always taken that to heart right that it's really about what more can do other than just the football side of going out and doing my job. I've got to be able to affect everyone. Help us all do our job and so for me really. It's it's every single day with these young guys talking about the things that will help them be good football players today tomorrow and in the future and and making sure that I don't ever let anything slip anything slide Adan You know what I'm just constantly. There formed ask questions and then also to push them to be the best thing best players they can be and for me. It's been an awesome challenge. It's fun to see that youth. Those young guys getting their first opportunity ever sure the excitement. That's that's there for them every week. you know. Almost the Fawn of. Oh my gosh. I'm planning clue. AMAC her our own goodness and playing Chandler Jones. You know these guys two years ago. They're watching these guys on TV. You know and so it's It's fun to see their faces in their excitement. And it almost gives me renewed. Spirit are doing what I do as well well again. You and your fourteen that that is amazing to hear As fans and members of the media Andrew Whitworth here on the rich Eisen show hearing somebody who's been in his long as you have or anybody who's veteran say. Hey you just got to play better you just got to trust people. We're we're looking for a quick moment. We're looking for for okay. That play that moment that game was there one. Can you identify one are really think for us. Honestly if you look at it really for for just talking about r line and really the injuries we've had and having new gas have to step in and play you know you really look at coming out of the Pittsburgh game with all. Those injuries happening You walk into the week and say all right you know here we go. We're about to play the bears and A great defense in in in a bunch of really special defense allowing over there. And you say all right. We're going in it with gas who've played a whopping You know me an awesome life of play these other guys. Have you know really one of them started a football game before and so Out of three guys one start you know. We knew it'd be a challenge but there was almost just like a an energy in a in a you know what let's just go take our a shot. See what happens. Let's all go out. Be Physical. All three of them. Were big fiscal athletic. Young kids who have bright futures like man look just go be aggressive. Go Go Out and just you know what play like. It's like it's your first time playing high school football by with energy with passion. And let's see the chips fall you know and and just will be aggressive and those those guys did it and and obviously there's good and bad in the game but you go man okay like these guys can do like to go out on this stage and perform the way they did all right and then the next week against Baltimore. Obviously it's a landslide game that you know they they really had a tremendous game against us but really upfront. Gas showed some progress. There was things that guys were doing better you just watching them specifically and then you know the next week you come out. And it's like all right against Arizona. They have a great performance. And it's like okay. These guys are getting better and better every week and then this week continue to show the same thing so I think that's what made us excited is that they really kind of just as a group. We put our feet in the ground said. Hey let's just go out and play with energy and passion and see what happens and every week. It's gotten a step better and an and that's what really makes you feel good about their group and and happy for some young guys getting opportunity. We're seeing girly the OG show up when he when he when he stiff arms. Trey flowers like that. WH- what is it like for for the team just single moment like that. Yeah I think you know for for running back to me. That's one of those opportunities. It's it's no different the sack fumble for a Russia. It's it's no different than a huge over the over the top catch for receiver for his position. You know that opportunity of just saying you know what I won't be tackled I think the Inspir- inspiration really that you're lying gets that your offense gets and goes man you know that guys on our team and And there's why we all love him so much Chizik he has those moments in games just like man. He just refuses to be tackled and does something explosive. Like that to really still football game for us I I hi this year. I've always had respect for Todd Gurley. I've always thought Todd Gurley was a tremendous player and really just a great kid in general since I met him This season I've I've grown it just really truly Such a love for him in the human being he is. Why is that? You don't really just you look at everything that happened. All the media speculation all the things that pointed to him all off-season long Really not a lot of positive you know. And and the way he's dealt with it the way the leader he's been in our huddle the leader he's been in our locker-room groome every single day with his passion and pushing guys to play better and responded never once complained in every once saying ow deserve the Baltimore deserve this opportunity or are these things It's always just been about our team and to me a guy like that. It's a tremendous player. He is to carry himself the way he's carried himself. This season mental. I'll never forget it and I and I'll always have the utmost respect for him for it. Left tackle Andrew Whitworth in season fourteen Four time pro right here on the rich. Eisen show continuing on with girly. He's he's getting the rock more since you were talking about that bears game. He's getting it more. He's getting those touches. He's damn near on a couple of games thirty touches which is a very high watermark mark. Freni running back and certainly for him when asked where this came from Y. Now Sean McVeigh said. It's me not being an idiot now. I've never heard anybody call. Sean mcvay an idiot or anything remotely close to that. Is it really just him or is there something else. Andrew what I said earlier is that trust factor right that all of us really. I mean we didn't run it well early in the year and not because of todd necessarily just because we weren't executing run plays very well and so we we got forced to throw it and then we also had some games were down and we all of a sudden had to throw it a bunch and so you get in those. Oh scenarios and you start going all right well you know what. Let's make sure we're not losing our identity. A little bit of what it is that we do well and Trying to find the trust of. Hey we got got a younger guys. We're trying to figure out how to block things the way we want them done. And all those type things and I think really it comes back to all right. You know what you you gotta young line. But now they've shown shown they can do these things. Just trust them. Let's give todd the ball and let him be the guys always been for us and and that's really what it's come down. I think that's more what he's saying is that it's really. Hey let's trust trust what we got. Let's trust who we are and let's just go out and play that style of football and let the chips fall how they will and and. I think that we've seen that that that really is who we are. And how we play Bass does it mean to be clan. Dallas late afternoon whole country will be tuning in your team's one three or four. We all know what's going on in Dallas. What what what what does this mean? Do you think this game this weekend. I think it means a lot I mean I look at it too. It's funny that it's a you know a little bit of a symbolic game for us too. Because it's it's the game that in seventeen you know really L. E. People said we put ourselves on the map you know when we had a loss to Seattle at home and People were trying to figure out who jared Goff was. Sean McVeigh was our our first year altogether. We go on the road against a Dallas team that at that time you know. People had a lot of expectation for that season and get down early in the game and find a way to come back and have have this huge win on the road. First Time really as a team like that and and I've never forget it was really that moment that season that things took off for us and we raw to we were in the style football..
Which college produces the best NFL talent?
"A special edition of N._F._l.. Live on deck today at the N._F._l.. Celebrates one hundred season just six weeks away however we are just five weeks away in college. Football Opens It one hundred fiftieth the anniversary so today welcome N._F._l.. You were combining the two worlds to answer age-old question what college produces the best n._F._l.. Talent however I'm Wendy net sand Hutus here you know what's better to be on this panel our expert notice icy expert telling me when Lewis Minute of her panter on the list not on the House for back the quarterback guru he and his brother in a lot of N._F._l.. Games James A lot and Ryan Clark. You see the L. L._S._U.. They are ills college football. L. Is Jonathan Vilma bike. He will join US shortly. He happened to win a National Championship and Oh by the way a super bowl as well coming up on N._F._l.. Live will break down position by position which college produces the best quarterback Oklahoma has the number one overall pick the last two years we have the top ten plays all the N._F._l.. Superstars when they were in college and answering big question which school produces the best all time N._F._l.. Talent we had to ask the players themselves to kick things off. We're the first pick quarterback Oklahoma Viva say Oklahoma Alabama Clemson because proven it is one atop factory the Ohio state highest in Alabama. 'cause I never lost beat out. You really can't understand it into your inside. Sadness programming is all about the you for N._F._l.. Because of Georgia in every aspect but I think L._S._U.. CRESA environment of gray competition and guys is trying to feed off of IT University of Pittsburgh. You Got Dorset. Dan Marina you got Larry. Fitzgerald was not a me show. It's about having everybody involved in working for the Sandal clumps in would cushman he's been doing. He's making people believe everything is possible for House is the best our stop it. Stop stuff well. Let's start shall we with the most players from each college currently in the N._F._l.. Alabama leads the way with V with sixty five players players followed by Ohio state in second place with fifty eight so we're going to debate these schools I in terms of who is best at producing N._F._l.. Challenge here's a tale of the tape on Alabama at Ohio state success since the two thousand draft folks tools I have had thirty one first round picks the most of any school while the Buckeyes have thirteen more total picks in the last twenty drafts but Bama's players have been slightly more successful in the league producing three more pro bowlers than Ohio St Louis Rick. Let's start with with the crimson tide. They're starting eleven if you will offense and defense current N._F._l.. Talent there's any question that these are both very impressive lineups that if Alabama can roll these teams out there right now now. I think they'd win a few games without a doubt. If you look at the offense aside outside of the ball the first thing that jumps out of these starting eleven are the two wide receivers look Julio. Jones is one of the finest athletes in the N._F._l.. For guardless of position he's in the news right now because he's about to get a new contract extension and he's really one of the he's one of the transcendent players at the position that this game the scene Amari Cooper the same way. When Amari came out of college? I remember doing his tape in thinking point honestly as far as catching one pet and run wide receiver. I hadn't seen one as good as him as him. In a long long time on the defensive side look they have fine players throughout the eleven here really that when you get to the secondary and you guys like Eddie Jackson Landon Collins I mean these guys are disband tastic players on the front dont`a hightower our multiple time superbowl winner. These are great great players right here. Make our way to Columbus shower of the to Ohio state you go to the offense side of the football. Look the first thing that jumps out without a doubt as Ezekiel Elliott because if he's not the best running back in the N._F._l.. He would be considered a top three running back in the N._F._l.. Wide Receiver Michael Thomas Really someone who was unheralded coming out of college. He's a tremendous tremendous. Pro will probably be the highest paid wide receiver in the N._F._l.. In short time then move over to the defensive side of the ball this this is where really this football team really kind of jumps off the board starting up Front Joey Bosa Cam Hayward those are two of the best defense alignment in the N._F._l.. Right now and then when you look down there at the Secondary Malcolm Dyson Dinkins Denzel Ward Marshon Lattimore doesn't let's get much better than that. All right Jonathan Vilma made his way again surly qualified to weigh in on this discussion. Look I mean there's a shortage of talent with either of these squads. It's almost ridiculous factory and a lot of ways both of these institutions but let the debate again a Ryan Clark. You can't pick L._S._U.. Just yet but when you look at this group what stands out L._S._U.'s better than both of these things we're gonNA get to that. We're supposed to be talking outlets. Let's be honest. There's amazing players. Neither one of them have a quarterback right before proven yet though little I mean why don't we always have to see something first before we can get you well Ray Richardson running back right you saw God compare that with you why time gentlemen we're GonNa play Nice Got Ninety minutes ago. You're the Glenn Difference from every other position that we're looking at okay fair enough now back to you Louis. It is a production results oriented industry. Is it not so it is fair to say seeing something. Does one believe they'll be success won't sure but I mean we're we'll see this is kind of like a combination of what they have done in college. What some of these guys have done in the pros in some of it's a little bit of projecting about what they're gonNA continue to do in the pros? That's how I'm going to expand it to that all right so at quarterback quarterback Dwayne Haskins I believe right now. There's no comparison as far as I don't care what A._J.. McCarron did it Alabama cows tape. Those Wayne has close exact Haskins is going to be a fine football player. What's going to happen to him? Really is going to be more predicated on what Washington redskins overall due to him then what he does to himself. I firmly believe that as far as these rousers overall look the wide receiver position Julio Jones Amari Cooper. Julio Jones's the standard if you go and look N._F._l.. For an offices and look in their scouting books books every team has a standard at every position that they put for scouts the suit for as far as whenever when their scouting people polio is going to be on that list for for many many teams he's about as good as it gets so skill positions at Alabama are awesome. The defensive players at Ohio State is what stands out for me as far as their front seven is concerned particularly their defensive line and their secondary Denzel Award Marshon Lattimore. You tell me a team that wouldn't take those two young men right now and startled. Let me ask you a specific question since you spend some time as an analyst watching these players at the collegiate level if you had to choose either of this group Alabama Ohio state who's players really got better or who took a bigger step forward than you anticipated when they got to the N._F._l.. Out To you to dance your last part no neither standout. They're pretty equal because watching these guys watching Jonathan Allen he played okay well Dante. I'll tell you knew who is going to be tremendous player defensive player C._J.. Moseley's same thing and then you go to the other side and you look at Joey Bosa Nick Bosa Darren like Malcolm Jenkins. I play with Malcolm Jenkins in in New Orleans knew he was going to be a study. He's Philistine but what is surprising how fast or House they defense is. I did not realize how fast defensive you think big ten you didn't big Brawley guys not so fast but these guys can move joey. Bosa also can move nick volks in Darren League. We know the Burner Malcolm J. Denzel War March. I mean that is a very very talented athletic fast fast defense. I thought I was going to jump in your rookie. I think that's a great question Wendy about as far as what teams teams have players that have gotten better pros. You look at Ohio state this look at their offense. In particular Michael. Thomas was a good wide receiver to hire Stayton. He's fantastic now. He's GonNa be highest paid wide receiver in the N._F._l.. Andrew Norwell most people wouldn't even know Andrew Norwell well what from Andrew Doorbell he right now just judge Moore Norwell can't open open some N._F._l.. Spectacular and even on the defensive side of the ball. I didn't think Marshon lattimore. I've liked Marshon Lattimore at Ohio state. I didn't love Marcet. He has taken his game to another level as well in the really own Alabama side you know how I feel about Alabama I feel nick and what he does and how he builds his program but really focus on their offense align that was just look okay and think about that question. Wendy Wendy asked how many players have gotten better how many have continued to improve Andre Smith may have his best days at Alabama. Dame's carpenter has really been good pro Brian Kelly the jury still out he could be a he's a good player. He's GonNa play already in Indianapolis D._J.. fluker was he ever ever really that guy that dominant guy no. He hasn't been Cam Robinson. Have you seen story so it's interesting because they're preventing people have been many people who've hit Alabama and said they get the best out of their players at Alabama. Maybe it's good discussion legal where people go by what teams there drafted so we look at Michael Thomas he falls into a place where he needs an accurate passer and he's one of the most accurate passers all the time also about the place you land in ashore and how they develop you ask Josh Rosen he absolutely he knows that all too well. I ten Hasselbeck. The whole point of this is to pick one of our producers here a little bit we talked. I'm going Alabama mainly change quarterbacks. Yeah I think looks great point about the offensive line at Alabama because so many of them when you look at them just in terms of body type you're like Oh my God look at those guys body type wise but like I don't know that some of those guys have come in and be like Oh and they got a whole lot better. We're obviously splitting hairs here on this ongoing Alabama Lewis Sorry Nick. Oh from a hustle change your mind or did you stick the way said one because I don't care if between Haskins hasn't played. I think he's I think he's in the saints. Stratosphere is A._J.. McCarron so I like that I liked it their offense of line one of the things that talked about how they develop those guys on the defense aside but they're fun four plus their secondary this going with them Ryan Clark you have to pick one while I was brought here for one reason in one reason only when the Knicks because everyone knew it my answers it would be and what Tim Hasselbeck has proven is. You don't need a quarterback. That's really he's GonNa be Ohio state in Alabama that don't have quarterbacks guess what we don't need a quarterback back and by the way you don't want our first off was good enough for Bill Belichick your boy to draft him as Tom Brady's heir-apparent draft. We thought they they went to L._S._U.. Because this guy has what they decided to we throwing the ball all around the field Andrew Whitworth he's played a thousand years. There's a Guy Jerry go look at the Neil hundred may has like negative two percent body fat Michael Broncos out. There aren't key. We gotta wait on them but it's are are you at the back of position. That's all we got mad. I gotTa get here all even have to work conviction when you spoke scissors. I'm sorry I just so tim. I love your twenty. Two question your toughness Whoa West I've seen because as you know what fair enough he's at Alabama alum landon dare you wait into the circus that we've created. But what do you have to say about this. Whole debate ain't Ryan got some good good good stuff going on say? I wouldn't question his toughness at all. I don't know why you questioned Ryan toughness. I saw him not got a lot of Alabama's always number one no matter Corolla tyrod. Let me ask you a serious question. You know obviously nick. Sabin is a hall of Famer one of the best ever coach this game but specifically what does he do that has allowed such historic success at the university. Steve Alabama <hes> as a coach he speaks for as a coach. He represents his players as players coach. I would say he makes all this coach. All the players are on the him as a player as a father <hes> <hes> and as a as many tried to teach us they'd be a man and a great play all at one time you know so he does it all leading. Can you please tell the people why you are now better that you have trusted your career training with the guy from L._S._U.. Hey right you agreed trying to grow been gone on gone for years

"Sappho old who's going to be a free agent. And Andrew Whitworth is considering at the very least retiring you figure if they want. He probably would have had a better case for retiring. Comeback now hard to say, but obviously, you know, the Rams are team that was built to to win over the next couple of years. But certainly a lot of players who are in position to win this year might not be back. I mean, do you do you think they take a step backwards because they've struggled to replace those guys? There's just gonna be you know, they're going to sign the next guy. A one year deal happens to fall in their hands and becomes the next consume. It's a fantastic question. And it will be really interesting to see how less need who has been very aggressive last two off-seasons. You know, sort of got to do things separate of what, you know, working with Jeff Fisher, and sort of playing with Sean McVeigh who has been more willing to like sort of less the less need. But also to say, hey, look, let's push. Let's go all in understanding the the nuances and the importance of the the bottom salary cap situation. And and how you have a small window with a quarterback on a on a rookie rookie weight scale that being said, yeah, I think I could easily see them take a step back Cooper Cup is gonna come back from a rough injury. And he's not necessarily entirely healthy. You know that defense. I I'm not saying this in any way to criticise way Phillips, but you always see a huge bike and wait Phillips first and second year, and then maybe sometimes they level off a bit. You know, personnel. It probably ten is probably because it's so good that guys leave and get paid on ahead. Of course, if you know if anything else, and you know, they have a lot of guys to worry about. Contractual standpoint, you know, they are they have an issue with edge rush. Dotty foul came in. It was a big help. I don't know if they can give him the contract that he wants indaba consumer probably looking for big contracts as well. And so if lose that pressure on the front, and they still Donald, but the patriots showed you can you can you can at least mitigate the damage that you can do to all very stretches. The linebacking group is is a smaller more modern group, and I don't know that you can be exploited a little bit. I think the defense will be good. But I do think that even at your Goff has another monster season. And Todd Gurley bounces back that. Yeah. Given the division. Jimmy Garoppolo coming back from injury forty Niners are showing that they'll be aggressive. They have tons a cap space the Seahawks. Look like they have quickly quickly reloaded retooled that that team. And we're going to be a problem that division. And I I can't imagine. There's can't be worse. So yeah, I think it's possible that the that the Rams could potentially take a step back. I think they'll be a. It's not spill. But before this season twenty eighteen you could bet on the Rams to win the NFC west at minus one sixty which was the best value out there, and I been on it, but more people should have. And I think that the Rams will probably be like minus three thirty or something like that this year, and I wouldn't be I wouldn't be surprised if the Seahawks or forty Niners jumped up and and really surprise stunned them and won the division or the Rams took a step back. I think that's viable so their playoff contender. And and they'll they'll make plenty of noise. But yeah, I mean, they they showed him for this window. And now they have to figure out if they still have the there should to keep you know, being aggressive in in twenty nineteen. Yeah. Where do you think conceal ends up? We have twenty nineteen oak disgrace. Can I can I throw? Because I've just guessing I guess just to someone from Portland Oregon closest team to Portland Oregon is the Seahawks who have more cap space this upcoming off season they are moving on from Thomas you'd presume and they have a good defensive line..

"How complex offense a play calls are. But also. If you're a right tackle. And you have to look at the snap. You're already a disadvantage and also when you're going on a silent count, you can't get exotic as you can when you're going on a verbal count. There's only a couple of ways you can mix up the timing of it all and eventually the the defenders will tighten that up and get an extra step on you. But while you're looking at it, right or left tackle. Then you've gotta look back out. You're already you're losing a step. No doubt. That's why when you coming off the edge. Now, we need Cam Jordan somehow to have an impact. That, you know, sag force foam or whatever that something occurs. You coming off the edge. And you know what? And and and I love warriors. I love wars, you know, is a warrior and he's with the other team. Let me tell you guy. Andrew Whitworth, Louisiana LSU probably up in there one or two best. Let's of lyman's and LSU alum when you look at Kevin will y Allen Fateh Andrew Whitworth. Did you see Andrew where were the internet Kagera game that he had all his kids of there? He played with the Bengals all this year has been outstanding never won a playoff game. And he finally won one. Well, you know what? I hope Andrew Edward sucks against the saints. I'll I hope he doesn't do anything because we listen whatever advantage you could get. But as you age, you're not gonna suck. Because he is that good. But it just a challenge when you got listen. If you want to be the best you got to beat the best. So it's amazing that the margin of error, and what it takes. So if you're tackling outside you gotta look at the ball got a lot of experience, but it's still night playing in a game where the crowd is not an influence, and I'm talking about just the angles and a step. What's the old cliche to game of inches? Right. Yeah. Yeah. In that corner. And so listen, this is why I love the NFL. I love football because it's like right now, we're at the best against the best. I mean, people will say like a doubt on the NFL Donald on the NFL. I don't care about politics down on the NFL. The NFL is freaking Cain. What are you talking about? Do you notice? Saints eagles game had over forty million viewers, this Dolly Dolly game that was hired did this game against the saints in eagles was the Super Bowl the networks. Love the NFL because it's ratings and its money. So you can hate all you want on the NFL and do this. And that I don't know what your views on live, whatever. But all I know is we love football. We love football. And the NFL is king. You know, why because it is truly the best of the best at eight. Like college football college football. Final four you have the haves and have nuts. I mean, look, look, okay, Clemson, Alabama that was two teams. But but you you look at Laura name. They just in there because I mean this valued all the time. Yeah. So gold helmets and. Seth brought this up when he does the final lap. And. He comes on after us. Now when you look at it is in the NFL truly be viewed by the whole country. Yes, or college football is not college football in regions Dave south, the midwest higher state and all relevant, but then in the west coast because their teams aren't relevant, but the NFL is relevant all around the nation. That's not an opinion. Just look it up. No. I I hear you. We'll be at the boat. Amal boulevards casino resort me, deuce in Bobby. But somebody got got upset and the fact that oh, you can't install a city that could be coming your way in dollars. You could impact the dollars. That'll that'll be in that community. "What you have over there. Christopher lot of speculation on Jerry Jones future with the Cowboys expected that he's going to get a contract extension. Jason garrett. Yes. He said Jerry Jones is we all we know Jerry Jones future of the Cowboys his debate. Exactly. Right. Okay. Features on that gigantic yacht. Now, whether Jason Garrett we back whether he will get an extension, of course, Jerry Jones commented on that. When I look at what our coaching staff and survived. I give it a good great. As gave it a grade when I look around at what other teams are doing and trying to do to find their head coach Jason Garrett had been out on the market two weeks ago. He would have had five offer head coaching. I know that Jerry. So you've got to look at what your alternates did. We've got a very young team. We've got a team that we've got going in direction got players. We've got going into direction you make changes, and you're gonna change direction. Well, you know, Adam gays face. I'm going to stop. I'm going to stop doubting Jerry for the moment. You know, Jason. I just in jail. I took the cheese on the Amari Cooper acquisition. I took it. I was one of the many that just like was having a great time. Jerry, doesn't know what he's doing. He's given up a first round selection for wide receiver that has hardly done. Anything? I was still a little pissed that Amari Cooper destroyed my fantasy team last year, you know, and and I took that cheese. But he was right. I took the cheese draft night. What's Jerry Duin? Dez is out there just make up with them. Well, we'll see what happens draft night doesn't take Calvin. Ridley takes this kid from Boise now Jaylen Smith, what's he doing taking him in the second round? What his knee all blown up. What I guess he was just doing his brother of favor, south favor. What's is Jerry? I do. Maybe we should stop. And anybody else that does what Jason Garrett did take three and five team and have the offense be more. Honestly, he didn't go for it in Houston on that Sunday night game. He punted away in lost in overtime and got roasted for it. Well, guess what? He did he started like that was. Like, I told you on the show. The other day went Ford on fourth down three times. He was two for three on fourth down going for two point conversions. He was his aggressive. Preach antics, Liotta all of a sudden. So Jerry might be exaggerating. How many jobs that Garrett would have been? Tagged for but. I'm done doubting. Jerry right now, they do have a young team. Now, keeping Scott Lenihan might be something that you can try and look at and defensively. Again, what what we were looting to Andrew Whitworth. It was a tell an absolute tell Whitworth said those guys on the interior. He's just focusing on the hot boy that's coming off the edge to try and keep Jared Goff alive. But on the interior when they saw me Collins shaded closer to the tackle the Rams said to here comes the stunt. And then if he lined up wider Rams look to see which hand was in the dirt for the Cowboys, and they could tell which way that we're going to go with stunt. And if the Rams can see it, and they could see it on tape and see it on film, and then they were able to gash a Cowboys team with that maybe they should start taking a look mid game changing what they were doing. So they're still questions about the Cowboys coaching staff, but I'm done having my fun with this opposed low hanging fruit with Jerry Jones for the moment. They've got a young team with a ton of upside. Do you really think of Jason Garrett was let go five other teams on dot so maybe exaggerating, but you definitely would have been other teams that have definitely been interested in him. I think again, I know everybody thinks he's just a Clapper and all that business, but he does set the tone, and they did change their style. When Amari Cooper arrived. They did have more third a little more vertical. But they also had more motion. They had more stuff going on how much is that with born out of the criticism that Dez Bryant was throwing down. And also the tight ends that there were supposed to be the Bermuda..

"Look a little like Andrew Whitworth here. He may actually be younger than Andrew Whitworth. I dunno because Andrew with one of the older tackles in the NFL but kitchen taking up for his quarterback Baker Mayfield. After Mayfield has been at the center of I don't know that it's a full blown controversy. I I don't know how many people beyond the media care about at the the criticisms of Hugh Jackson, the idea that may feel disagrees with Hugh Jackson being fired by the Browns. And then joining the Bengals and and that has spawned debates out the week on this program about whether or not that should be permitted. I think it should be others. Chris Simms, and Peter King think it shouldn't. But Mayfield is taking his shots at Hugh Jackson. And look pretty kitchens is doing the right thing. You gotta have your quarterback back. I mean that that is a given no matter how you feel internally about your quarterback you need to support him unconditionally and completely equivocally especially when you're interim right because there's. A chance that interim becomes permanent or at least as permanent as permanent ever is in Cleveland. If you have a great relationship with the quarterback and look Baker Mayfield these making that job more attractive to other candidates out there. But if the Browns play well enough down the stretch, the guys who are currently there. Get greater consideration and stats it occurred to me yesterday. Before we move onto this Brown's Texans game, which I think will be very compelling. It occurred to me yesterday if they're thinking about keeping Greg Williams in place as the head coach for next year. And Freddie kitchens is the offensive coordinator. There's an argument to be made that maybe you go ahead and make kitchens the head coach because if kitchens flourishes working with Mayfield he's gonna get an opportunity to be a head coach somewhere else. And then you've gotta find somebody else to work with Mayfield as a coordinator. And I think that's part of where we're seeing the NFL go defensive coordinators may not be as attractive as offensive coordinators for head coaching hires because you hired offensive coordinator. You gotta go find somebody to run the offense when that guy thrives he's gone in someone else's head coach the head coach in Houston. Bill O'Brien he was on. And it was weird. People had him on the hot see one of the one of the betting services had him as the favorite to be the first coach fire during the season. The guy's got a five year contract. And oh, by the way, they've since turned it around so Bill O'Brien entrenched now in Houston and the Browns going to take on Texans. Team that has gone eight and three after starting Owen three. And I tell you what stats sneaky great game. I won't be surprised if the Browns win this game. I think it's gonna take a lot. I don't think the Browns have the horses to match up with the Texans given the Texans are healthy. But Baker Mayfield back in the state of Texas. He started off at Texas Tech transferred to Oklahoma has played some big games in Texas. This is a potentially great game. And it could be that this Shawn Watson Baker Mayfield rivalry flourishes and thrives if these two teams are in the playoffs on a regular basis. He can maybe become another Peyton Manning Tom Brady type of a rivalry. If they continue to meet in the regular season and can start crossing paths in the playoffs and how badly are the colts rooting for the Browns and this one right? Wouldn't that be perfect for India v Houston stumbles? Oh, absolutely. Because right now, it looks like the culture playing for the sixth seed, the four seed is on the table if the Texans should happen to lose this game. And and saw like the Texans have been dominant and just because the team has won eight in a row doesn't mean they're gonna make it to nine. I mean the saints at one ten in a row. Didn't mean they we're gonna make it to number eleven. So maybe it'll be another upset in Texas this time, maybe it'll be the road team that pulls off the victory to complete would be a very compelling NFL. Weakened in Texas. Rodney Harrison right after this..

"I mean, it's it. It's like he's trying to fake you out. It'd be something to Globetrotters were do with a free throw where they go thought. You know, it looks like on purpose. And it's just oh, it's it's it's it's sad to see is that legal by the way to pump fake free throw and have everyone run into the lane. Like, it's gotta be a violation. Well, I I would think the officials know that he can't help himself because there there would be a violation on everyone of his free throws there if he had made that they would have had to call violation in it, right? Got to get him out of Philadelphia though. I think he just got to go someplace where it can sorta disappear in work as way back up. But you know, it's sad to see. Yup. Marquel? Fultz last year was shooting forty seven percent for the line. He's up to fifty seven this year. Remember, you've talked a lot about Lonzo ball last year. He was forty five percent from the free throw line Lonzo ball's playing less minutes this year, but he's up to sixty two percent from the free throw line. I would have Markelle fold shoot underhand like be. I I want to I got to get him out of that routine with whatever he shooting at the free throw line because that it's like, Doug Doug Gottlieb, you know, famously had problems with his free throw shooting. But Doug has a really good shot. He just got into his head. And once it's there, nobody can help you only you can sort of help yourself. I we'll take a break. Great. Al Michaels will join us coming up here next. We'll check in with the Rams offense. Tackle Andrew Whitworth as well. So we got a busy final forty five minutes here in Los Angeles. "Our number one. We had Andrew Whitworth of the Rams on the show. Again, the Rams in my mind became a loss Angeles team. Finally, I think it should be in the minds of everybody just this past week. Well, the Rams we all know moved from Saint Louis a couple of years ago. It takes time to be part of a community just anywhere. Certainly in the Los Angeles sports community can take somebody quite some time to feel at home or be made to feel at home. Certainly when you're playing in a makeshift home. Even though it's the home of the law USC Trojans, it's not their home and their future home, and it's a new home and the way that the Rams handled their business on the field this week after the off the field disaster of the fires here in southern California. Andrew Whitworth said more than forty members. Of his team as well as the front office and everybody on the staff of the Rams had to evacuate his family. He's hoping to move them back into their Thousand Oaks home this week and found oaks also prior to the fire breaking out and burning down the town much of the town part of the town. Was a victim of the scourge of gun violence, and he donated his game check to an organization that is helping members of that community recover from that disaster was an incredible conversation. Seek it out the Rams in six hours or wheels up to Colorado getting where they'll practice all week getting used to the altitude prior to the Mexico City game on Monday night against the chiefs. What a huge game at is huge game. That is I don't know if you heard this too, Patrick Mahomes longtime girlfriend her stepfather died unexpectedly at Arrowhead yesterday. I mean, not to get too deep here and. In the sports world where we're all in the tour department, but I mean I- Mahomes didn't speak after the game yesterday. My gosh, what a world Michael is going to be joining shortly the Super Bowl winning head coaches football life premieres this Friday on the NFL network will ask his thoughts on on what's going on Green Bay with a huge win member. Last week. I mentioned a bunch of three and five teams coming into this weekend being a huge weekend difference between three and six and four and five is just absolutely monumental. And all you gotta do is ask the three and six lines. Would they prefer to be four and five right now like the Cowboys? Asked to three and six Jaguars. Would they prefer to be four and five like, by the way, the resurgent Indianapolis Colts? Andrew luck not being touched, by the way. He's balling out there. Sneaky fantasy player this year. Luck has been amazing. He has been spectacular. Second league touchdown passes behind obviously, Patrick Mahomes. Difference between three and six asked the bucks how they feel at three and six right now fits magic throwing for four hundred yards by the way, Dirk cutter took the offensive play calling under his own wing, which is a sign of any coach knowing if I'm going down. I'm going down with my play calling the same in the Marvin Lewis apparently is taking more control of the defensive play calling having fired tear Lawson today, they're cutter they got almost five hundred yards of offense just three points that takes some doing. That takes them doing that happened. Guess what? Like, I told you when when when Fitzpatrick the job back I said, he's got one last regaining of his starting job back left in them. I betcha James they're going to have to turn him. Unless they management tells cutter we don't wanna be on the hook for his contract next year if he gets hurt. So it's Fitspatrick the rest of the way we haven't heard that yet. And if that's the case, then watch James will be want. You know, we'll be deactivated on game day. Wow. Packers with a huge win their four four in one right now there were daring mid Miami to win that game yesterday.

"The way that they reacted to the local community in Thousand Oaks, California where the Rams practice facility has been placed. And the Rams will be practicing. For the rest of this season. And obviously that's where they're going to be. That the way they reacted to the local shooting at the the borderline bar. And with a dozen people in over dozen people, including a member of law enforcement getting shot to death in a bar. On a a college night where it's mostly. College students faith who came over from Pepperdine, which is in Malibu to a bar to line dance where they were not serving alcohol, by the way. Just to go on hang out dance. Spend a night with their college mates line. Dancing in some lunatic comes in and shoots up the bar. And over a dozen people are dead in the way that the Rams reached out to the community that then was going to burn to cinders in a fire Thousand Oaks, California, and all the other communities around it still this moment in flames. It really is folks. Just in case you're wondering wherever you are. It is like an apocalypse has hit the communities in that area. Calabasas Agora hills just in a few in Malibu parts of Malibu up in flames. Up in flames and the Rams. Over forty members of the team and staff evacuating their homes running for their lives, not knowing if their homes are still existing. Just like the members of the community. They're all just like us here in southern California. The Rams and the way that they have reached out to the community and the way that they have. Lived through it and excelled the way that they did yesterday is just a monumental achievement. And as you will hear from Andrew Whitworth their lineman who protects the backside of Jared Goff who donated his game check to the border line. Bar shooting victims this week. Whose family was evacuated. One of the many members of the Rams whose family was evacuated. Andrew Whitworth and the Rams are about the hop. A flight to Colorado today to start practicing in out to two in advance of their Monday night game in Mexico City against the chiefs. Rams became a Los Angeles team this week the way that they talked about the community the way that they walked it and talked it and lived it one of us. That happened this week. And I've got a four plus game lean over the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC west. Kudos to them the way the handle their business and also to the front office who I guess is. You'll hear from Andrew Whitworth when he calls in about six minutes from now basically told players evacuate save the receipts. We got it. We got it figured out. Whatever you gotta do with your family. Imagine, I couldn't even imagine. They're hopping a flight to Colorado to hang out for the week to go to try and do work to leave the country. I couldn't do it. Eight four four two four rich number two dollar on the program. Andrew whitworth. Gonna join us. Mike home Jonas. Sam amick of the athlete in USA today will be joining us with the latest on the association for the poll question over there. Christopher okay. What can at the NFC playoff picture? These five teams are currently not in the NFC playoffs. But which has the best chance to sneak in got Packers. Falcons seahawks. Eagles cowboys. Okay going. They all four wins to about falcons. Dow's that's going to be a huge week eleven game. And I'm going to get this. Right. I'm going to get this. Right. You know, why? Because I woke up today feeling dangerous. Baker Mayfield people this guy. Baker mayfield. Eight four four two four rich number down. When we come back. Andrew Whitworth who is heading out to Colorado today with his family evacuated from their home his game. Check in the hands shortly of the victims of the awful shooting in Thousand Oaks, California. "Losing andrew whitworth and kevin zeitler andre smith and before they had the issues tied in with injuries with tyler i for getting nicked up before they lost marvin jones and muhammed's to new circumstances have changed for him and so i think he's a lot like a lot of other quarterbacks in the nfl where if everything's right around them you can win with them if everything is if things are sideways then you're gonna have more problems they can't carry you out of that the way like an errand rodgers tom brady might be able to the other point i'd make adult his salary right now he's the seventeenth highest paid quarterback in the nfl by average per year for twenty eighteen he makes sixteen point three million dollars per year he's a middle of the league quarterback who's being paid at a middle of the leak rate they don't own him a lot of guaranteed don't own any guaranteed money they can cut it whenever they want and so if they were to you know over the next couple of years come into a top five or top ten pick i think they're in the type about where they would look at the idea of of of of drafting a quarterback and maybe something to come on the radar but i don't think that they need to they need to push to do it they're sort of in the same position that miami is where miami could take baker mayfield if he falls to them but i don't necessarily push the issue where they trade up to go and get him i think miami would be in play to take one but you know do they wind up spinning draft capital to go up into the top four to draft bigger mayfield i don't know if they do that and i think again cincinnati sort of in that same spot where you know if there's a great opportunity that falls into their lap.
