A.J. Green keeps future with Bengals up in the air: 'Who knows what is going to happen?'

"Green had a decent game yesterday He after the game was Noncommittal about his future is going to help him with that. Aj thank you. i love you. You're going to be thirty three years old next year. See it's not here not here. I mean this is. This is not something that's franchise should have to wrestle with. I do think you referenced atkins before. I do think one of the most interesting off season questions is do they move on from a guy who played a whopping seven snaps yesterday and they are roughly thirty million dollars to over the next two years. Do they move on tough. How do you not you have to start moving on from old bed players. You're your goal for the next. Three games should be to figure out who you on this roster that you can go with. It's not no atkins gino watkins. It's not going to be jay green next year them. We just we just let go of back in two thousand fifteen. They were good because for years. It seems like that's driven. The strategy gives them rewards player but andrew. Whitworth give your young lineman chance. Give some linebackers chanson and go from that. You have to figure out what you have. At some capacity because of all the whole we just mentioned in the last segment with the new england patriots cling to jeans seconds to about the current state of their team which is not great but would they cling to gino atkins. Because it used to be good a long time ago no or because. They felt like they owed him something with the pittsburgh. Steelers no with the baltimore ravens with lynn. The san francisco forty nine know what. Zack taylor's old teams. Move on move on from expense. Ami did it last year underperforming players. The dolphins were oh and seven and tanking moved on. Yes people what are they taking doing this publicly. Okay there now. Competing there in the playoff hunt. They went toe to toe with the chiefs. Like they're in a better position. I think there's a place in the nfl for jay green. I do on like a two year deal green bay or something. I don't know that there's a place in the nfl for gino acts

Which college produces the best NFL talent?

"A special edition of N._F._l.. Live on deck today at the N._F._l.. Celebrates one hundred season just six weeks away however we are just five weeks away in college. Football Opens It one hundred fiftieth the anniversary so today welcome N._F._l.. You were combining the two worlds to answer age-old question what college produces the best n._F._l.. Talent however I'm Wendy net sand Hutus here you know what's better to be on this panel our expert notice icy expert telling me when Lewis Minute of her panter on the list not on the House for back the quarterback guru he and his brother in a lot of N._F._l.. Games James A lot and Ryan Clark. You see the L. L._S._U.. They are ills college football. L. Is Jonathan Vilma bike. He will join US shortly. He happened to win a National Championship and Oh by the way a super bowl as well coming up on N._F._l.. Live will break down position by position which college produces the best quarterback Oklahoma has the number one overall pick the last two years we have the top ten plays all the N._F._l.. Superstars when they were in college and answering big question which school produces the best all time N._F._l.. Talent we had to ask the players themselves to kick things off. We're the first pick quarterback Oklahoma Viva say Oklahoma Alabama Clemson because proven it is one atop factory the Ohio state highest in Alabama. 'cause I never lost beat out. You really can't understand it into your inside. Sadness programming is all about the you for N._F._l.. Because of Georgia in every aspect but I think L._S._U.. CRESA environment of gray competition and guys is trying to feed off of IT University of Pittsburgh. You Got Dorset. Dan Marina you got Larry. Fitzgerald was not a me show. It's about having everybody involved in working for the Sandal clumps in would cushman he's been doing. He's making people believe everything is possible for House is the best our stop it. Stop stuff well. Let's start shall we with the most players from each college currently in the N._F._l.. Alabama leads the way with V with sixty five players players followed by Ohio state in second place with fifty eight so we're going to debate these schools I in terms of who is best at producing N._F._l.. Challenge here's a tale of the tape on Alabama at Ohio state success since the two thousand draft folks tools I have had thirty one first round picks the most of any school while the Buckeyes have thirteen more total picks in the last twenty drafts but Bama's players have been slightly more successful in the league producing three more pro bowlers than Ohio St Louis Rick. Let's start with with the crimson tide. They're starting eleven if you will offense and defense current N._F._l.. Talent there's any question that these are both very impressive lineups that if Alabama can roll these teams out there right now now. I think they'd win a few games without a doubt. If you look at the offense aside outside of the ball the first thing that jumps out of these starting eleven are the two wide receivers look Julio. Jones is one of the finest athletes in the N._F._l.. For guardless of position he's in the news right now because he's about to get a new contract extension and he's really one of the he's one of the transcendent players at the position that this game the scene Amari Cooper the same way. When Amari came out of college? I remember doing his tape in thinking point honestly as far as catching one pet and run wide receiver. I hadn't seen one as good as him as him. In a long long time on the defensive side look they have fine players throughout the eleven here really that when you get to the secondary and you guys like Eddie Jackson Landon Collins I mean these guys are disband tastic players on the front dont`a hightower our multiple time superbowl winner. These are great great players right here. Make our way to Columbus shower of the to Ohio state you go to the offense side of the football. Look the first thing that jumps out without a doubt as Ezekiel Elliott because if he's not the best running back in the N._F._l.. He would be considered a top three running back in the N._F._l.. Wide Receiver Michael Thomas Really someone who was unheralded coming out of college. He's a tremendous tremendous. Pro will probably be the highest paid wide receiver in the N._F._l.. In short time then move over to the defensive side of the ball this this is where really this football team really kind of jumps off the board starting up Front Joey Bosa Cam Hayward those are two of the best defense alignment in the N._F._l.. Right now and then when you look down there at the Secondary Malcolm Dyson Dinkins Denzel Ward Marshon Lattimore doesn't let's get much better than that. All right Jonathan Vilma made his way again surly qualified to weigh in on this discussion. Look I mean there's a shortage of talent with either of these squads. It's almost ridiculous factory and a lot of ways both of these institutions but let the debate again a Ryan Clark. You can't pick L._S._U.. Just yet but when you look at this group what stands out L._S._U.'s better than both of these things we're gonNA get to that. We're supposed to be talking outlets. Let's be honest. There's amazing players. Neither one of them have a quarterback right before proven yet though little I mean why don't we always have to see something first before we can get you well Ray Richardson running back right you saw God compare that with you why time gentlemen we're GonNa play Nice Got Ninety minutes ago. You're the Glenn Difference from every other position that we're looking at okay fair enough now back to you Louis. It is a production results oriented industry. Is it not so it is fair to say seeing something. Does one believe they'll be success won't sure but I mean we're we'll see this is kind of like a combination of what they have done in college. What some of these guys have done in the pros in some of it's a little bit of projecting about what they're gonNA continue to do in the pros? That's how I'm going to expand it to that all right so at quarterback quarterback Dwayne Haskins I believe right now. There's no comparison as far as I don't care what A._J.. McCarron did it Alabama cows tape. Those Wayne has close exact Haskins is going to be a fine football player. What's going to happen to him? Really is going to be more predicated on what Washington redskins overall due to him then what he does to himself. I firmly believe that as far as these rousers overall look the wide receiver position Julio Jones Amari Cooper. Julio Jones's the standard if you go and look N._F._l.. For an offices and look in their scouting books books every team has a standard at every position that they put for scouts the suit for as far as whenever when their scouting people polio is going to be on that list for for many many teams he's about as good as it gets so skill positions at Alabama are awesome. The defensive players at Ohio State is what stands out for me as far as their front seven is concerned particularly their defensive line and their secondary Denzel Award Marshon Lattimore. You tell me a team that wouldn't take those two young men right now and startled. Let me ask you a specific question since you spend some time as an analyst watching these players at the collegiate level if you had to choose either of this group Alabama Ohio state who's players really got better or who took a bigger step forward than you anticipated when they got to the N._F._l.. Out To you to dance your last part no neither standout. They're pretty equal because watching these guys watching Jonathan Allen he played okay well Dante. I'll tell you knew who is going to be tremendous player defensive player C._J.. Moseley's same thing and then you go to the other side and you look at Joey Bosa Nick Bosa Darren like Malcolm Jenkins. I play with Malcolm Jenkins in in New Orleans knew he was going to be a study. He's Philistine but what is surprising how fast or House they defense is. I did not realize how fast defensive you think big ten you didn't big Brawley guys not so fast but these guys can move joey. Bosa also can move nick volks in Darren League. We know the Burner Malcolm J. Denzel War March. I mean that is a very very talented athletic fast fast defense. I thought I was going to jump in your rookie. I think that's a great question Wendy about as far as what teams teams have players that have gotten better pros. You look at Ohio state this look at their offense. In particular Michael. Thomas was a good wide receiver to hire Stayton. He's fantastic now. He's GonNa be highest paid wide receiver in the N._F._l.. Andrew Norwell most people wouldn't even know Andrew Norwell well what from Andrew Doorbell he right now just judge Moore Norwell can't open open some N._F._l.. Spectacular and even on the defensive side of the ball. I didn't think Marshon lattimore. I've liked Marshon Lattimore at Ohio state. I didn't love Marcet. He has taken his game to another level as well in the really own Alabama side you know how I feel about Alabama I feel nick and what he does and how he builds his program but really focus on their offense align that was just look okay and think about that question. Wendy Wendy asked how many players have gotten better how many have continued to improve Andre Smith may have his best days at Alabama. Dame's carpenter has really been good pro Brian Kelly the jury still out he could be a he's a good player. He's GonNa play already in Indianapolis D._J.. fluker was he ever ever really that guy that dominant guy no. He hasn't been Cam Robinson. Have you seen story so it's interesting because they're preventing people have been many people who've hit Alabama and said they get the best out of their players at Alabama. Maybe it's good discussion legal where people go by what teams there drafted so we look at Michael Thomas he falls into a place where he needs an accurate passer and he's one of the most accurate passers all the time also about the place you land in ashore and how they develop you ask Josh Rosen he absolutely he knows that all too well. I ten Hasselbeck. The whole point of this is to pick one of our producers here a little bit we talked. I'm going Alabama mainly change quarterbacks. Yeah I think looks great point about the offensive line at Alabama because so many of them when you look at them just in terms of body type you're like Oh my God look at those guys body type wise but like I don't know that some of those guys have come in and be like Oh and they got a whole lot better. We're obviously splitting hairs here on this ongoing Alabama Lewis Sorry Nick. Oh from a hustle change your mind or did you stick the way said one because I don't care if between Haskins hasn't played. I think he's I think he's in the saints. Stratosphere is A._J.. McCarron so I like that I liked it their offense of line one of the things that talked about how they develop those guys on the defense aside but they're fun four plus their secondary this going with them Ryan Clark you have to pick one while I was brought here for one reason in one reason only when the Knicks because everyone knew it my answers it would be and what Tim Hasselbeck has proven is. You don't need a quarterback. That's really he's GonNa be Ohio state in Alabama that don't have quarterbacks guess what we don't need a quarterback back and by the way you don't want our first off was good enough for Bill Belichick your boy to draft him as Tom Brady's heir-apparent draft. We thought they they went to L._S._U.. Because this guy has what they decided to we throwing the ball all around the field Andrew Whitworth he's played a thousand years. There's a Guy Jerry go look at the Neil hundred may has like negative two percent body fat Michael Broncos out. There aren't key. We gotta wait on them but it's are are you at the back of position. That's all we got mad. I gotTa get here all even have to work conviction when you spoke scissors. I'm sorry I just so tim. I love your twenty. Two question your toughness Whoa West I've seen because as you know what fair enough he's at Alabama alum landon dare you wait into the circus that we've created. But what do you have to say about this. Whole debate ain't Ryan got some good good good stuff going on say? I wouldn't question his toughness at all. I don't know why you questioned Ryan toughness. I saw him not got a lot of Alabama's always number one no matter Corolla tyrod. Let me ask you a serious question. You know obviously nick. Sabin is a hall of Famer one of the best ever coach this game but specifically what does he do that has allowed such historic success at the university. Steve Alabama <hes> as a coach he speaks for as a coach. He represents his players as players coach. I would say he makes all this coach. All the players are on the him as a player as a father <hes> <hes> and as a as many tried to teach us they'd be a man and a great play all at one time you know so he does it all leading. Can you please tell the people why you are now better that you have trusted your career training with the guy from L._S._U.. Hey right you agreed trying to grow been gone on gone for years

"Pour me another drink. How appropriate is. Yeah. No kidding. Hey, the Rams announced today that Andrew Whitworth coming back big meals little deal. No deal deal. Is it she left tackle role pro left tackle as been a an who is seven years old. There was and had a spectacular year. If you look at the program focused, switch Goff. They like each other, right? And was one of the top five left tackles in the game. This last year, he could've retired any elected to stay. He was under contract. So that's a that's a big domino for the Rams huge. These coming back. So I was looking around, and I did a little and I just wanna point out. John isn't saying any of this stuff. So you're about to say stuff that could get me fired. Right. It's not me Mason. I am the one eve Mason is same. And by the way completely allowed to. So I went through the entire free agent class, and I included Anthony Davis in this. Despite the fact that he's not a free agent, but it'll be out there and will be available this off season via trait. I'm just guessing Jason Tatum is involved in that deal for Anthony Davis than we don't get them. Kevin durant? Don't think it's happening think he's Knicks warriors kyri Celtics or Knicks. I don't think he's coming back to play with LeBron. Kawhi just every every expert I hear has down to clippers and raptors Klay Thompson standing Golden State, the guy that I think and I've never been a big fan. But he had a nice night last night. And he's coming around boogie cousins is the guy that I think the Laker should absolutely look at during this off season. The guys are boogie. The point garden Cambe, bogey Cambe Busa vich who's a really nice player. Jimmy, Butler, those the four guys that I think are potentially. Now, are they the magnitude of a Kevin Durant? No. But are they great and contribute and have a chance to be really really good and part of something that's much better than when we're looking right now. Absolutely. So those are the guys for those of you that that wanna speculate, and it's not John. Boogie Butler Kemba and those those I think are the big possibilities for the Lakers. If you're starting to think at Sam, fortunately, I'm starting to think ahead because I just don't think it's happening this year, Greg what name did you type in online one dairy dairy dairy cow dairy? Did we pronounce that? Right. You have your guys that absolutely Jerry in Santa Monica. How what do you think man? Well, you know, I've been focusing a lot just like everybody we've been maximizing and putting a lot of personal particular things, and I feel like we need to just take a step back and look at the grand the grand scheme of things how everything is played out as well as the season go, you know, this is our first season LeBron with the young guys really putting expectations on their shoulders learning a new system. Learn how to play with each other. Then he gets hurt have way in the season. Lonzo give hurt. Brandon gets hurt coups. We'll. Gets hurt. Just haunts heard right now as we speak. So I mean, I'm not trying to make any excuses, but we do have to take it through the count the entirety of everything. And also with Luke Walton he doesn't have any structure with online, man..

"You gotta go out and bring in players the change the direction of a game, and you may have to do one of two things overpay or have dead money at the end of the deal. In other words, the guy's gone. He's not playing for you anymore. But you still have that counting against your salary number and until and if they go about their business that way it will be very difficult for them to win. Rare is the team that can build exclusively through the draft and win a Super Bowl championship. It puts an enormous amount of stress on your scouts on your player evaluation, and your coaches, and by the way, if you bring in a player that I just described in free agency, you probably have someone who is a locker room leader. And that team has been searching for one desperately since the departure of Andrew Whitworth and dome atop Petco searching begging for one there. Just hasn't been any down there. "Well, Andrew Whitworth, Aaron Donald I know they've taken some, quote, unquote, you know, diva guys the reason it works with them because they have solid pieces like, oh, they have some of the MVP conversation. And he's a great guy and Jared Goff in Andrew Whitworth, and John Sullivan, and Robert woods. You can roll the dice on some of these guys when you have these rock sound solid foundational emotionally, solid guys. Donald a home run and Sean McVeigh sets the tone for the entire team. Not so much, you know, telling being Isobel check before the game. I don't think that really matters. But you know, he is he's the microphone is very calm. Very poised and. I think everyone kind of follows his leadership style and in in that regard. But I I know everyone is talking about the eagles, and you know, suppo hangover, and I do think the Rams obviously have to make some adjustments still would very much like an answer on what happened with girly. Well, we aren't gonna fake outrage. We would like to know waiting because it's a very confusing situation there, and it would explain what happened in Super Bowl. Well, McVay kind of explained it. He said we ran them early. And we didn't have any rhythm that's kind of their explanations. Not a great one. I know it's it's not I still go back. I I'll go back to what I said before the Super Bowl is an I told you this. I said if Todd Gurley is not a huge part. They can't beat the patriots said you cannot give young quarterback. You can't take Cooper Cup out. Todd Gurley out Jared Gosden going to be a patriot in they're going to take away. Whatever your best available right is eliminate your own. Yes. And so once girly didn't play early and not wasn't impactful. I I remember watching the game in the first quarter. And I'm like this is ugly and choppy, but this is absolutely playing right into the patriots. The patriots. It's not like the Beijing. Stevens wasn't playing incredible. They were says nothing anything away from the patriots defense being great. But it's just it's a confusing situation. I think. Are going to be fine next year, which is my point. So the Sixers pulled off a major trade last night. They sent three players and four draft picks, including two first rounders to the clippers in exchange. Tobias Harris bovin and Mike Scott's and now Philly is prime to make a major playoff run. This summer Vegas seems to agree there. Title odds have increased greatly. Because of this trade. Vice hairs is player move for them. This is actually a win win Tobias Harris is a really nice player. He's not Embiid. He's I don't think he's Jimmy Butler. He should be your fourth best player or third Bethany. Good team or fourth-best on a great team. Like the warriors. He would be fourth-best on a good team like Houston. He would be your third. Best a good team like Philly. He would be your third best, but the clippers he was their best. And we're going to have to maxim and the clippers we're going to have to maximum and that doesn't work for their free agent. It does Spiring to create summer. So if they were going to try and make any play for a big free agent. They had to move to buy. Because he is that good that they were good kid. He worked hard Philadelphia. Got their third fourth best player that makes them. I think Tobias Harris. I really believe this Philadelphia as Tobias Harris as your best player. This could be the difference them winning the east. I really believe that I think so as well, I do too if they can get things rolling. I if he's the best player on your team. He is he the only team has better fourth. Best player is the warriors were the fourth. Best player is dream on. What be no Durant, staff clay buggy. That's the only team bogies better than Tobias Harris. So Golden State's the only team in the league where your fourth mess player is better than Tobias Harris at as your fourth best player. Finally, the Lakers did make a trade yesterday. Just not one involving Anthony Davis. When you hear about this day fired the Gadji bullet from the pistons. Yeah. And fee, Mika Luke, Detroit, they re Reggie's a shooter well the ripple effect from the trade..

"That's Tom Brady live at the podium following the Super Bowl as they live looking. Radio the Super Bowl win over the Los Angeles Rams thirteen to three. No. That's our theme song actually for today here in our super post game show on ESPN radio the SPN app along with Jeff Schwartz and Bobby carpenter. I think Andrew Whitworth the Rams tackle summed it up. Well after the game when he said, quote at the end of the day, we're all going to die. Tonight's way to put it. Nice sunshine lollipops way to look at life. He's not wrong. Fact he's one hundred percent right now. Speaking of right, if Vegas is correct, it appears the Kansas City. Chiefs will be your Super Bowl champions next year. They are the favorites. According to west gate LV super book, they opened the odds to it next year Super Bowl and and the chiefs right now had the second best odds when the book opened but right now it's the chiefs with top odds following by followed by New England. They're six six to one by the way, the chiefs followed by New England the Rams and the saints second-best at eight to one at west gate. No other team has odds in the single digits teams with the next best after that Steelers. Chargers bears at fourteen to one at super book. The Cleveland Browns are among sixteen games at twenty to one. So we. We left last segment talking about how many more Tom Brady can win. It's hard to. I think people are life lessons about this that they continue to learn every year, which is don't just don't pick against him. You'll be bright more often than not if you just pick with Tom Brady and the patriots. But Jeff start with you, Mr. prop bet money line over under. What chance would you give the patriots to do it again next year? I mean, they're going to look at this and say disrespected again, no one believes. Yes. Kansas City needs to prove or defense. Indianapolis will continue to get better. That'll be a tough test for to give the patriots Cleveland's better. Houston should theoretically be better. But again, New England still the favourite noon still has a bad division can still run through that division and the end up with a home playoff game again or have now remember there are one hell, Mary, we're you know, we're funnel play against Miami. For being the number one seed closely. It already been the chiefs. I like just from a value angle is Philadelphia twenty two one to win the Super Bowl. Carson Wentz should be back healthy ready to go. And then Lanta forty-one Atlanta has a lot of talent there replacing all through the coordinator's office special teams. But this is a healthy. And they have a good opportunity to get back to Super Bowl. Yeah. Just doesn't necessarily feel right? The one issue with Philly to me is you look heard they're going to potentially pick up. Nick foles is option like get got some quarterbacks issues that they've got to straighten out two guys that can both play, but they can't play at the same time. So let's you're gonna have to make a decision. It wouldn't surprise me. But just you have to make sure that you do everything in the locker rooms all on board with you. I've learned this year. That's the chargers to beat the paths in the division around the playoffs. I'm never doing that again. Tom versus time. Tom is undefeated still time is taken a couple of L's from him. And because of that like, I've got to watch his demise. Jeff said earlier he did deteriorate a little bit throughout the course of the season. A lot of quarterbacks do that a little bit older. They monitor the number of throws. He takes some practice when he takes hits. It obviously affects him more during the season. I store should make throws there were very very difficult and you need to make you down the middle of the field, some deep balls. A he looked really good when he has time. He can step up in the pocket. He's just as good as he's ever been functionally out on the field, and you saw that manifest itself tonight. So he's got six rings. And as as we talked about where does he put that ring? Jeff you said middle finger. Yes. Yeah. Put a put out in the middle finger Bobby had a different answer, which we won't repeat, but family show, Bobby how many more maybe hanging on his said, maybe it's more. How many more rings for Tom Brady because like you said no signs of slowing down. I mean, look he's every day passes. He's getting closer to retirement. We get that in Costa glide, he's closer to dying. Yes. We are all. At the end of the day. We all we're all gonna die. Thank you. Andrew whitworth. But how many more Bobby? Overrun overrun one and a half a half. I'm taking the disrespecting Tom at all. If you told me that about any player in the NFL how many Super Bowls instead over or one and a half, the smart money would be on the under for sure. All right point five. That's a different story over oh, gosh, that's crazy thing. But I would be with Jeff and take the over. I don't know how you can pay against them again. Like, they keep winning these games. Remember who was the who's the more talented team? Chargers. Chargers were who's more cheeser patriots? I mean Rams are patriots. I mean, you look at these teams. It's not even close like match up stored for starter. You're probably taking on average between fourteen and fifteen starters off the Pat off the opposition of the parents, but the pats have twelve draft picks to have cap space like they have opportunity to go out and make their team better, especially wide receiver position with Belgian Forever's and has not been able to draft very well in his tenure. So they'll be back. And look I think for Tom Brady lava depends on his wife just saying like finally were done. Was this? They were Super Bowl all time. Oh, low outsor-, bad, blowouts or bad games. This was entertaining. It was in doubt until the final two minutes. We're Super Bowl then. The Broncos the Broncos the Broncos Seahawks. Forty three eight Broncos. Niners was bad. Niners Bronco Cowboys bills. The fifty five ten Steelers Cowboys like there were some blowouts that were not good. Most of the ones that growing up. That is true. I think I think that she's a. Support was far worse. Cheeses was at TCU. John cale. That was far worse. That would have been a great undercard to this far super post game show on ESPN radio ESPN app up next at sportscenter all night. Thanks, Jeff, Bobby, I met. "We're airing the two thousand and nine Super Bowl on TV's next to the current Super Bowl. And there were. Almost protests parades going on in New Orleans. Saints fans felt like they should be there. I'd love to hear from chiefs fans. I love to hear from bears fans who if it wasn't for Cody parkey miss in the wildcard round would advance in the playoffs and only lost to the patriots by seven and beat the Rams by nine fifteen to six there's quite a few teams and fan bases out there who feel like if their team would have been in the Super Bowl given how the patriots and the Rams played tonight that they would have won. So I'd love to hear from fan bases of those teams. Specifically the saints probably first and foremost the chiefs the bears, maybe you can make an argument for one or two other teams. But these were not a games from the patriots are certainly the Rams. There's no question that the defensive scheme was great. And that Wade Phillips the defensive coordinator for the. Rams and Bill bell. Check the head coach and defacto defensive coordinator for the patriots. We're the stars of the show defensively. But. Overall. There was some real sloppy offense of football an incredible amount of punts submits missed throws. I thought it took the team's a while to settle into the game. It was another Super Bowl where there were more points in the second half in the first half that was one of the best that I wanted a fairly easily. It was just a it was a bizarre game. It really was it just felt like those teams were just feeling each other out. And the patriots were never really concerned that they were going to win the game and Brady and gronk crunch time. That's another fourth quarter game winning drive for Tom Brady. For people who want to do the greatest of all time conversation strictly by. Rings wins the clutch stats and a lot of you out. There are probably saying, yeah, dummy what else is there? Well football's a team game. It's not an individual accomplishment game. I don't think that Brady's the most talented quarterback ever. But he's the perfect quarterback for this system. And he was blessed to be in the system and Belichick turned him in to the greatest winner in the history of the sport. But man, another clutch dominant performance game winning fourth quarter. Touchdown drive for the patriots. And did you realize that of the six modern era modern day patriots SuperBowl wins that this ten point win is the most lopsided that? They've ever had. Every other patriots. Superbowl had been a one possession game. Either a win or a loss of the Brady. Ballot. Check era not talking about the eighty five Super Bowl where the bears forty six to ten my friends but of the Brady ballot check patriots era. This was the most lopsided of the games in their favor a ten point win. But yeah, if you're a fan of those teams man, you've got to feel like it's saw a missed opportunity. Andrew Whitworth the tackle for the Rams with some philosophy after the game. Asked about the waas quote at the end of the day. We're all gonna die end, quote really makes you think thank you to Andrew Whitworth for that sobering dose of our own mortality drive safe out there, folks. He's of course. Right. I was listening to Greg Caserta update he heard or he had Todd Gurley audio in there. That right. There might be the perfect encapsulation of the difference between the patriot mentality and the ram mentality. Todd Gurley was talking about appearing in these games is no guarantee, it's an honor to be here. It's a pleasure. It's a privilege. He could go your whole career and never make it to a game. Like this. There's no guarantee that they'll be back. And of course, he's right about all of it. But you weren't you wouldn't hear patriot player say that. Because that's the thing. That's that intangible thing that Ross Tucker was telling us about at the end of the last hour who played for the patriots. They just expect to win. And it's nauseating, and it's infuriating, and it's not supposed to work that way. That's the type of thing that you would think about an individual sport. When Tiger Woods was at the peak of his powers, and he wore red on Sunday, and he had never been chased down from behind. It was like old Tigers just supposed to win on Sundays. And it was a little bit easier to talk about individual athlete with that type of mythology because it's it's one guy. So you could feel that Tiger Woods would get it done in that spot or Serena Williams would get it done or Ross doll on clay or Michael Phelps in a pool. It's easier to ascribe that I feel like to individual that. Then a team, but the greatness of check and Brady has created a culture where they feel like they're going to get it done. All the time. Even though we saw them last year. Not get it done to Doug Peterson and a backup quarterback, Nick foles. So we know they can be beaten. It's like when rocky cuts the Russian in rocky four you say, he's not a machine. We know that they are immortal. We know that they can be beat. We know that this isn't the best patriots team of all time. We know that gronk is on his way out the door. We know that father time is undefeated. We know that Tom Brady just had his worst year. Ten seasons is on the wrong side of forty. And this patriots team still want. That's so deflating for the rest of the league. And it's why people hate them. I know some people hate them because of jealousy. And I know some people hate them because of the cheating stuff. Whether it be deflate gate. Spy gate, whatever. I think it's because they're just infuriating and dispiriting. If this patriots team can win a Super Bowl by double digits. Then what happens if they get some good outside the numbers wide receivers played one defensive pro bowler. This year gronk was like the tenth best tight end in the NFL this year. This was not a special patriots team. Champions, which is obviously all that matters. But man. You got the chiefs with the MVP the league you got the all time passing leader in touchdown leader. And drew Brees in New Orleans out to a once you got this Rams team with the boy wonder head coach in the number one offense in the NFL over the last two years. You got the bears the young quarterback in the coach of the year. And they had the assistant coach of the year who just left to go be the head coach of the Broncos and a young quarterback in a finalist for executive of the year. You get all these teams that are doing all of these things and building all this stuff and still. Patriots Super Bowl, the dynasty continues its nauseating. It is. And I know this is just music the patriots fans ears, but my God, Julius peppers just announced his retirement. He played seventeen years longevity is one of the great marks of a true champion the patriots dynasties longer than Julius peppers is career. It's absurd. It really is. Got a marvel at it. You don't have to love it. But you have to respect it. And I do I respect the hell out of it. Even if we don't fully understand it because it's that unquantifiable nonsense that will to win that patriot way that intangible thing, I'll tell you what it is. It's coaching. It's bell bell checks a wizard. Mcvay had no idea what to do. And part of it was that is quarterback sucked. That's part of it. But man this patriots team won a Super Bowl. Are you kidding me? Do you know how this spiriting that is to chiefs fans the saints fans the bears fans to Rams fans the eagles fans. It's terrible. This patriots team won a Super Bowl. It's nauseating eight five five two one two four CBS is the number. We go to the city with the losing team. The laid an egg, George and L A you're on the Dante Parkin show. Thanks for calling me, Danny. How you doing good? Listen, I'm pointing but youngest coach youngest quarterback back. The rams. We'll be back. Yeah. Listen, I I think you'll be back to I just what do you make of your quarterback tonight? He looked totally overwhelmed. Yeah. He he was it was terrible. He blew some passed. He passed late threatening perks that would have been touchdown and. It was thanks for the call George. I've spent all year trying to figure out whether or not Goff was good or a product of the system and I settled on. The system like McVeigh's a better coach than he is a quarterback. But you can't call him bad. When he throws for forty seven hundred yards. Thirty two touchdowns in wins. Thirteen games and wins and NFC championship. And makes those huge fourth quarter throws in the NFC championship game in the Superdome against the saints. He was marvelous in the fourth quarter of that game. But man, he was terrible tonight. He feels like a product of the system he feels like Matt Ryan when he had Kyle Shanahan. That's what it feels like to me. And frankly, I think that Mitch Trubisky and Jared Goff are very similar high upside guys who are looking better than their actual talent right now because they've got great coaches in great systems. I'm very much looking forward to seeing Mitch Trubisky in year two. But like obviously, Pat in the homes is a singular talent. When I watch Baker Mayfield. He feels like a guy that will be able to transcend systems. Brady's assistant guy Brees is one of the great passers in NFL history. He's Marino with a ring. So there's nothing wrong with being assistant guy. But there's some guys that feel like they transcend the system Rogers transcend systems Rothlisberger transcend system, I think breeze in many ways transcend systems, the younger guys like I said Baker Mayfield patent homes. Look the true talents. That are. Wow. Any system any spot? They can be great. Whereas Brady is a product of the system, totally maximized. Unbelievable height of his potential, but I don't think that he is the greatest of all time in terms of accomplishment. If he's not in bell check system, he turned the hundred and ninety nine th overall pick into the greatest champion in the history of football. And right now Jared Goff feels like a product of Sean McVay system. Eight five five two one two four two two seven. We go to Michigan and welcome Nick to the Dante Parkin show, Nick thanks for calling. I wanted to comment on Julian Edelman, I think that he he may be getting punished or overlooked because he's part of a great patriots. But punish Adam Adam Schefter has him in the hall of fame. Nate Burleson hasn't in the hall of fame. And I think he should be because I don't think if you look over the years, you know, whether it's a touchdown pass to help beat Baltimore or catch that. I don't know how. Mix against Atlanta or even tonight where he's the only spark, you know, Tom Brady when the night is darkest go to adamant Adeline without adult then they've had receivers that they don't have six SuperBowl rings. And I think for that, you know, you have to put Julian Edelman into the hall of fame. Then let me ask you this. What what would your copy like who who is the guy that's made the hall of fame? Simply be doing Lynn Swann is that is that the complex who's the guy that you're gonna give me that has such mediocre pedestrian regular season stats, but it's so great in the postseason that he makes the hall of fame that isn't a quarterback who you give me. I I don't think that he needs to be compared to anybody. I I think that the the. The record three Super Bowls being a football player going out there and helping your team wins and really making plays that if you don't make your team does not win. And we've seen that in at least three instances where Julian has nice place that he did not make. They would not have one game that allowed them to win the Super Bowl. I I I agree with that. But what you get for that. Is you get contract extensions because you are a big game performer. You get tonight a Super Bowl MVP award. Canton is tough man. I'm just telling you it is a really hard hall of fame to get into and he has thirty career touchdowns. He has fifty three hundred and ninety receiving yards. He's not even in the top two hundred all in receiving yards. I appreciate the call, Nick. I really do. But Isaac Bruce finished second all time in receiving yards and is not in the hall of fame yet. Second. And think of the guys of his era at home, and I'm talking about. Calvin Johnson's guy to get in before him. Julio Jones has to get in before Antonio Brown has to get in before him. And that's just scratching the surface. Now talking about even guys like..

If that's one eight they gave them a game on Christmas day. Didn't he sure did up there? But for seven games, that's what I'm saying. No, not for nobody's gonna give the warriors for seven games. That's why I gave out the Larry Francis O'Brien trophy on October October thirtieth by the way, we're just going to take that Letterman style format of having the Joe creating the bit. It's my favorite beating the bit into the ground, and then continue to beat it into the ground where you. Yeah. That's what we're gonna. It's just. Jim I'm here for it. Till the middle of June. "What you have over there. Christopher lot of speculation on Jerry Jones future with the Cowboys expected that he's going to get a contract extension. Jason garrett. Yes. He said Jerry Jones is we all we know Jerry Jones future of the Cowboys his debate. Exactly. Right. Okay. Features on that gigantic yacht. Now, whether Jason Garrett we back whether he will get an extension, of course, Jerry Jones commented on that. When I look at what our coaching staff and survived. I give it a good great. As gave it a grade when I look around at what other teams are doing and trying to do to find their head coach Jason Garrett had been out on the market two weeks ago. He would have had five offer head coaching. I know that Jerry. So you've got to look at what your alternates did. We've got a very young team. We've got a team that we've got going in direction got players. We've got going into direction you make changes, and you're gonna change direction. Well, you know, Adam gays face. I'm going to stop. I'm going to stop doubting Jerry for the moment. You know, Jason. I just in jail. I took the cheese on the Amari Cooper acquisition. I took it. I was one of the many that just like was having a great time. Jerry, doesn't know what he's doing. He's given up a first round selection for wide receiver that has hardly done. Anything? I was still a little pissed that Amari Cooper destroyed my fantasy team last year, you know, and and I took that cheese. But he was right. I took the cheese draft night. What's Jerry Duin? Dez is out there just make up with them. Well, we'll see what happens draft night doesn't take Calvin. Ridley takes this kid from Boise now Jaylen Smith, what's he doing taking him in the second round? What his knee all blown up. What I guess he was just doing his brother of favor, south favor. What's is Jerry? I do. Maybe we should stop. And anybody else that does what Jason Garrett did take three and five team and have the offense be more. Honestly, he didn't go for it in Houston on that Sunday night game. He punted away in lost in overtime and got roasted for it. Well, guess what? He did he started like that was. Like, I told you on the show. The other day went Ford on fourth down three times. He was two for three on fourth down going for two point conversions. He was his aggressive. Preach antics, Liotta all of a sudden. So Jerry might be exaggerating. How many jobs that Garrett would have been? Tagged for but. I'm done doubting. Jerry right now, they do have a young team. Now, keeping Scott Lenihan might be something that you can try and look at and defensively. Again, what what we were looting to Andrew Whitworth. It was a tell an absolute tell Whitworth said those guys on the interior. He's just focusing on the hot boy that's coming off the edge to try and keep Jared Goff alive. But on the interior when they saw me Collins shaded closer to the tackle the Rams said to here comes the stunt. And then if he lined up wider Rams look to see which hand was in the dirt for the Cowboys, and they could tell which way that we're going to go with stunt. And if the Rams can see it, and they could see it on tape and see it on film, and then they were able to gash a Cowboys team with that maybe they should start taking a look mid game changing what they were doing. So they're still questions about the Cowboys coaching staff, but I'm done having my fun with this opposed low hanging fruit with Jerry Jones for the moment. They've got a young team with a ton of upside. Do you really think of Jason Garrett was let go five other teams on dot so maybe exaggerating, but you definitely would have been other teams that have definitely been interested in him. I think again, I know everybody thinks he's just a Clapper and all that business, but he does set the tone, and they did change their style. When Amari Cooper arrived. They did have more third a little more vertical. But they also had more motion. They had more stuff going on how much is that with born out of the criticism that Dez Bryant was throwing down. And also the tight ends that there were supposed to be the Bermuda..

"Our number three of the rich Eisen show is on the air. Great chat. With Terry crews, a former NFL player who's struck it big as an actor in Brooklyn nine nine in. America's got talent is the host on NBC right now from all sorts of television, and moves it was a great shower. Then we had taught mcshea on our number one to talk about Cuyler Murray and the decision he asked to make about baseball football. Because I don't believe he's able to do. Both you missed any of that go to our app apple app store. Google play at the link at the top of our Twitter handle to get our app. We also vote on our poll question about one of the best. What's the best football movie of all time? We'll get an update on that shortly. Chris Brockman, getting set to have a news update. But my guest to my right who I'm thrilled to half here on the rich Eisen show in person for the very first time is the Walter Payton of the year nominee for your Los Angeles. Rams get set to head to his native Louisiana to play an NFC championship game for the Rams Andrew Whitworth. Good to see you, sir. Appreciate you have meal. Appreciate you coming down here, especially since there was a possibility of rain here in Los Angeles. And I understand what that means. Yeah. I thought it was kind of Louisiana weather. So make an appearance is going down. There got to be honest with you. I remember going on a trip with my my parents my family. I was about eight nine years old. And I went to New Orleans took a tour of the Superdome and everything with my family and it rained so hard. I've never seen a rain that hard. I did. I remember this. I saw snakes coming out of the sewer system. That's a fact in uh. There's not much doubt. If you said you saw New Orleans. Pretty much everything goes that way. It wasn't mardi gras Tom either. I don't believe I don't think my family. My folks would have taken me to New Orleans during mardi gras but any rate. It's a big trip coming up for you before we get to that. I do wanna hit you on the game from from from Saturday night. And what went viral quite a bit? Was you hug in your kids on the sideline your first career playoff win? After all those years of trying to get one. What was that moment? Like for you, Andrew. It was amazing. I didn't think that the seal the deal would be Jared Goff making a play with his feet. Right. That wasn't my vote for how it start happening. But you know, what got big I down there were able to run the clock out. And it was it was an awesome just watching the seconds tick down and realize that it finally happened. If thirteen years trying to get one it was an awesome feeling. And then obviously the kids were just so excited this week, and they were pumped, and they you know, they wanted as bad as as anything. And so that's the first. People. I looked for when it ended because I knew I knew they'd be new my wife, and listen the kids would be running down to get on the field, and it was all four of them. Right. Four of them all of them. They looked can I guess like other all four under ten four hundred. Yes, oh, twin seven year olds six year old and a four year olds. Let's fun halfway to Philip rivers. Yeah. And so again, just hugging those kids and having that that moment in in the books for you..

"Know this. What? Chris Myers talking Jared Goff. And then he had Peter's yelling at the Cowboys. Is they allowed to field a can't repeat? Well, he was yelling. But it was just as spicy. You later said quote that was for Amari Cooper. He got strapped today. He said he knew us looks like he don't know us too. Well, 'cause y'all just lost an quote, and it wasn't only Lawrence and Cooper that the Rams were bent about one Rams player at told. Robert clump go, quote when I see Stephen a Smith. I'm gonna smack them upside his head. End quote. See the Rams so they didn't wait wait to smack is upside their heads. They were smacking anybody and everybody if you had a star on the side of your helmet, you probably getting punched in the face for a team that was not running the way they would have liked recently. They did whatever the hell. They wanted on the ground to the Cowboys two hundred and seventy three yards and three touchdowns on the ground gouge them. And that's the team that you're not supposed to be able to run the ball against. And they ran it right down their throats all game long in while. Everybody focuses on the Rams skill position players and their head coach it's easy to forget about the ram offensive line. Those guys reminded everybody on Saturday night. Don't forget about us. They dominated dominated a cowboy front seven that shut down the best running game in the league a week. Earlier is Andrew Whitworth had said the offensive line heard. What DeMarcus Lawrence said about stealing souls quote. We heard it heating get crap all night, and they got buried. I think we've said all we need to say end, quote and speaking of guys getting buried about CJ freaking Anderson he was buried a few weeks back. He was cut by Carolina in November signed by Oakland in early December cut a week later when the Rams called goes in the process of moving from a rental home in Charlotte back to his permanent home in Texas. He admits he had given up on this year. Football wise man was carrying boxes. He had told the rock for a total of one hundred four yards in two thousand eighteen then the Rams call he answers, then they call on Saturday night any answers again Twenty-three carries one hundred and twenty three yards. Two touchdowns. His third third straight one hundred yard game for the Rams guess a freaking beast an absolute low to bring down. So if you wanna come for C, J Anderson. I suggest you coming up pack because he's not going down with one guy, and he's not going on their arm tackle as he told 'em QB quote. I heard the sole comment. I also heard the O C J Anderson. He had two games against the Niners. And the cardinals comment. You don't look into that. I let my game speak for itself. Obviously the took that personally. So we just let our game speak for itself. Every team is going to have a player, whoever that is that's gonna Josh Jack. And of course, we have some judge on our team to end, quote, they do they've got some judge Moore's they've got some soul Steelers. And they've got some guys punch you in the face. Maybe it's the extra week off. But one thing was clear the Cowboys had prided themselves on their physicality, but the Rams were way more physical on both sides of the ball. And it wasn't even close. They rushed for two hundred and seventy three. Yards. Then they held the Cowboys fifty yards rushing. So so much of that idea the Dallas was going to come into LA take over the Coliseum and run all over the Rams cowboy fan showed up, but sort of the Rams on both sides of the ball. And that tells you everything you need to know about Sean McVeigh is a head coach see everybody with a head coach has been looking for the Sean McVeigh what was going on though, Sean McVeigh was looking for his first playoff win. And I mentioned it last week the guy had to have it. The Rams are no longer that nice story that they were last season. Now there are team with enormous expectations. A big bull's eye on their back and they're on the clock. Now they had to deliver. And they did. Well, everybody wants to make out McVeigh and talk about McVay for his wide open offense. He's crazy passing schemes his jet sweeps. This guy just one must win football game with power football. He out powered a power football team. Even to the point of going forward on fourth and goal in the fourth quarter. When I feel going made more sense from a math standpoint, not from an attitude and confidence damn so if you want to know, what makes this guy, great, what makes this guy. So unique what makes this guy so different? It's not the past place that he draws up. It's the way that this guy connects with his players the way he understands them and the way they understand him. And now, you get the saints, man. I cannot wait that clock can't spend quickly enough. Can't wait. And neither can the Rams Todd Gurley said Todd Gurley said this about his knee and about the win this weekend is good. Real real real good. Great..

"Andrew Whitworth back here on the program. How you been Andrew? Doing good rich. Appreciate you have me. Oh, man. You Bet El always what'd you do on your by week. You know, what we we called it a prep week rich? You wanna buy we? Okay. What does that mean? You know, you know, now, it was more about honestly getting ourselves ready and prepared physically and mentally for this week. I mean, so it's less about getting away and getting break like you have in season. And I really thought we treated it really well as kind of a off a couple of days, and then the rest of the time working, you know, not necessarily like getting out on the field practicing. But you know, working out and doing some study ourselves throughout the season. And things that we did good or bad, and what we can do better really to be as efficient. We need to be in the playoffs. You watch football onto. I guess scout. Who's coming your way, potentially? Oh, yeah. Watched all the games. And and you know, just kinda know little bit about everybody that may be the future that you're gonna have to play. And obviously don't start this week with the with the Dallas Cowboys before we turn to that. I'll I'll I'll turn you into part of the pop rati here. Andrew, which performance the process, you the most for what you watch this weekend. You know, I think that honestly a lot of the games went pretty similar. How thought that you know, Baltimore. I I don't know for some reason I kinda thought they might be able to repeat their performance being at home and dominant that they were and they're really they did play good on defense. Just didn't find enough offense to win the game. But that was one as good as I think the charges are I think they really special. I just thought that Baltimore has kind of some of that playoff that you've seen win. Just good defense. Great running game. You kind of see that win this time of year, especially at home and that one kinda somewhat about they would be a little better earlier in the game. And they were just maybe again, it's just so difficult for a first timer to win a playoff game at the quarterback position. And as you know last year when Atlanta coming in last year to Los Angeles, and and what was able to be done to the offense that we hadn't seen very much out of your Rams offense last year and Jared. Golf. I mean, what what is it about a first time playoff experience? Andrew you think you know, what speaker everybody just the quarterback? It's it's that, you know, what the efficiency level really just just making sure you don't make mistakes put yourself behind this Dick's and really hurting your football team got to be something that STAN in playoff football. Both teams are great. You know, you're not gonna get the gimme bomb plays. And just you know, kinda embarrassing each other..

"I mean, it's it. It's like he's trying to fake you out. It'd be something to Globetrotters were do with a free throw where they go thought. You know, it looks like on purpose. And it's just oh, it's it's it's it's sad to see is that legal by the way to pump fake free throw and have everyone run into the lane. Like, it's gotta be a violation. Well, I I would think the officials know that he can't help himself because there there would be a violation on everyone of his free throws there if he had made that they would have had to call violation in it, right? Got to get him out of Philadelphia though. I think he just got to go someplace where it can sorta disappear in work as way back up. But you know, it's sad to see. Yup. Marquel? Fultz last year was shooting forty seven percent for the line. He's up to fifty seven this year. Remember, you've talked a lot about Lonzo ball last year. He was forty five percent from the free throw line Lonzo ball's playing less minutes this year, but he's up to sixty two percent from the free throw line. I would have Markelle fold shoot underhand like be. I I want to I got to get him out of that routine with whatever he shooting at the free throw line because that it's like, Doug Doug Gottlieb, you know, famously had problems with his free throw shooting. But Doug has a really good shot. He just got into his head. And once it's there, nobody can help you only you can sort of help yourself. I we'll take a break. Great. Al Michaels will join us coming up here next. We'll check in with the Rams offense. Tackle Andrew Whitworth as well. So we got a busy final forty five minutes here in Los Angeles. "Losing andrew whitworth and kevin zeitler andre smith and before they had the issues tied in with injuries with tyler i for getting nicked up before they lost marvin jones and muhammed's to new circumstances have changed for him and so i think he's a lot like a lot of other quarterbacks in the nfl where if everything's right around them you can win with them if everything is if things are sideways then you're gonna have more problems they can't carry you out of that the way like an errand rodgers tom brady might be able to the other point i'd make adult his salary right now he's the seventeenth highest paid quarterback in the nfl by average per year for twenty eighteen he makes sixteen point three million dollars per year he's a middle of the league quarterback who's being paid at a middle of the leak rate they don't own him a lot of guaranteed don't own any guaranteed money they can cut it whenever they want and so if they were to you know over the next couple of years come into a top five or top ten pick i think they're in the type about where they would look at the idea of of of of drafting a quarterback and maybe something to come on the radar but i don't think that they need to they need to push to do it they're sort of in the same position that miami is where miami could take baker mayfield if he falls to them but i don't necessarily push the issue where they trade up to go and get him i think miami would be in play to take one but you know do they wind up spinning draft capital to go up into the top four to draft bigger mayfield i don't know if they do that and i think again cincinnati sort of in that same spot where you know if there's a great opportunity that falls into their lap.
