"It's just a matter of flying in today's world Conrad is you're not on the plane as much as me. Unfortunately. It sucks. Sucks. And I was looking this morning, maybe a Sunday morning. I looked at seat selection, which I really stay on top of it. And these flash are full, they're packed, I've got a good seat, so I'm lucky, of fortunate. So it's flying horrible right now. I've been in the wrestling business at 74. It starts flying a lot till later on. But I've never seen travel. This screwed up. Oversold mechanicals, I can't manage the traffic flow and all these things. So it's tough. So that's why the extra day because sometimes can mean something. You want to get home an extra day earlier if you can pull it off. But now you know your home. Andrew Warren says, Jim Ross, or Jordan sneakers on screen a lot during 97 98, does he feel one way or another about Jordan's shoes, and do you remember there ever being a sneaker deal being discussed for one of the superstars? Unfortunately, no sneaker deal was discussed. I wore those shoes to cause they matched the outfits that we were aware at the time, which was black jeans, and a raw jacket. All that red and black just kind of flow together, cut off scheme wise, and that was the reason for it. Plus, it was a very popular shoe. They're very comfortable to wear all day around the building. Walk on the concrete, you know, hour after hour. Folks don't realize, you know, I'll give you an example. And when we were in D.C., we had a we started at 10 o'clock, where rampage. And then after rampage is over, at 11 o'clock we did battle of the belts. So it's a long ass day, man. Yeah. So you want to stay as comfortable, get as comfortable as you can because, you know, I got the building at 2 o'clock. I didn't go in the air until 8 hours later. And that's hard to maintain your energy level. And you can only drink so much coffee unless you want to be a bucket. So I don't want to get in that scenario. I just want you out there, you're out there, and I got no catheter, and I got a porta potty. Would you sign up for ringside catheter? Would that be something you would be interested in? No, I've had catheter. You ever have a catheter? I don't want one. I'm going to pass on that. Well, if you had had a catheter, you would already know the answer to that question. And the worst thing that can happen is to watch the medical person insert it. I don't want to do that. It ain't no fun. I'm a sissy. I'm assessing. Catheters are not for JR. That's a T-shirt. JR, catheters? No. You know, I don't think so. I think I'm all just waited out. As I say you all the time, I'll wear darks. There you go. My adult and my adult depends underwear. I'm ready. Let me just tell you. The pain of a catheter as a process, I'm sure. It probably starts

DeSantis Suspends Tampa Prosecutor Who Won't Criminalize Abortion

"Governor Ron DeSantis in Florida continues to show us show other governors and us how it's done. His latest move to suspend the Tampa state attorney. The DA of Tampa, who was by the way a left winger, he's a soro sky, and but this guy joined with a bunch of other attorneys and prosecutors. Basically saying that despite the Supreme Court's decision in the Dobbs case, that states are now free to make laws about abortion in Florida has a law. By the way, Florida's law is hardly extreme. I believe it restricts abortion after 20 weeks. But nevertheless, it's far too much for this prosecutor, a guy named Andrew Warren, and he essentially signed a statement that says, he's not going to enforce it. In Tampa. And similarly, Florida has a transgender law, which is described by desantis really very bluntly desantis goes, you know, they use these euphemisms, but what they're literally doing is chopping off the private parts of young kids and that's wrong. Boom, talk about putting things bluntly. But anyway, Florida has a law that limits transgender surgery. You can't just go about doing this. And this guy, Andrew Warren goes, so I want to enforce that law either. So desantis looked at the Florida state constitution, where it says an article for section 7, the governor mesa spend from office any county officer for malfeasance, miss fees and neglect of duty drunkenness and competence, et cetera, and decided to listen. You state attorney don't have the right to make laws in Florida.

I've been elected twice to serve the state attorney. And I've served this state is running. I've done it well. Crime is down. Well, for a second, people's rights. We have so hard for public safety and fairness and justice. If the governor of incision do a better job than he should run for state attorney not president. That's hillsborough county, state attorney, Andrew Warren. Governor desantis signed a bill into law in April that bans most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The measures facing several legal challenges. The FBI's arrested former Puerto Rico governor Wanda Vasquez over her alleged involvement in a bribery scheme to finance her 2020 gubernatorial campaign. Vasquez is accused of accepting bribes in 2019 and 2020 while she was governor from several people, including Julio Martine, a banker who was under investigation by the agency that oversees Puerto Rico's financial institutions. In exchange for the donations, Vasquez reportedly demanded the resignation of the agency's director and later appointed a new one, a former consultant of harada's bank. Vasquez had had an former FBI agent also face wire fraud and conspiracy charges in up to 20 years in prison if convicted on all counts. In Austin, Texas, a jury has ordered far right conspiracy theorist and InfoWars host Alex Jones to pay $4.1 million in compensatory damages to the parents of Jesse Lewis, a 6 year old boy killed in the 2012 sandy hook elementary school massacre in newtown, Connecticut. For years, Alex Jones spread conspiracy theories that the newtown shooting was a government hoax and the victims families were paid actors resulting in online harassment and death threats for sandy hook families. The jury is expected to reconvene today to decide how much Jones should pay the parents in punitive damages. The Department of Justice has announced federal criminal charges against four former and current Louisville police officers over their roles in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor. Her death in a hail of police gunfire in 2020 sparked protests across the United States and around the world under the banner Black Lives Matter. Former Louisville metro police detective Joshua James was taken into FBI custody Thursday morning and charged with obstruction and civil rights violations for knowingly using false misleading and incomplete information to get the no knock search warrant for Breonna Taylor's home that led to her death. Also charge Thursday where Louisville police sergeant, officer Kelly Hannah good luck and former Louisville police detective Brett hankison. Attorney general Merrick Garland announced the indictments Thursday. Earlier today, I spoke with the family of Breonna Taylor. This morning, they were informed that the Justice Department has charged four current and former Louisville metro police department officers with federal crimes related to miss Taylor's death. Those alleged crimes include civil rights offenses, unlawful conspiracies, unconstitutional use of force and obstruction offenses. A 5th search warrant was for Breonna Taylor's home, which was approximately ten miles away from the West End. The federal charges announced today allege that members of the place based investigations unit falsified the affidavit used to obtain the search warrant of miss Taylor's home. But this act violated federal civil rights laws, and that those violations resulted in miss Taylor's death. Miss Taylor was at home with another person who was in lawful possession of a handgun. When officers broke down the door to miss Taylor's apartment, that person, believing that intruders were breaking in, immediately fired one shot, hitting the first officer at the door. Two officers immediately fired a total of 22 shots into the apartment. One of those shots hit miss Taylor in the chest and killed her. That was attorney general Merrick Garland, the head of the Justice Department civil rights division, assistant attorney general Christian Clark also spoke Thursday. The indictment alleges that by preparing a false affidavit to secure a search warrant for Breonna Taylor's homes, defendants janes and Mimi willfully deprived Breonna Taylor of her constitutional right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures. And we allege that miss Taylor's death resulted from that violation. In a separate indictment, the grand jury charges former LMPD detective Brett hankison with using unconstitutionally excessive force during the raid on miss Taylor's home. Without a lawful objective justifying the use of deadly force defendant hankison traveled away from his Taylor's doorway to the side of the building and fired ten shots into Breonna Taylor's apartment through a bedroom window and a sliding glass door that were both covered with blinds and curtains. That was assistant attorney general Christian Clark. She's head of the Justice Department civil rights division. We go now to Louisville, where we're joined by sadiqa Reynolds, president and CEO of the Louisville, urban league. Welcome back to democracy now, sadika. Can you respond to these federal charges that were brought against these four officers? The two white officers who actually shot Breonna Taylor were not charged. Absolutely. Thank you so much for having me again. It's a pleasure to be here. You know, we understand that we've always understood and loved that all of the officers might not be charged, but I have to tell you, this is a great step in the right direction. They're really has been a sense of relief and mobile among the family members among protesters among those of us who have really tried to encourage people to keep their hope to really have some faith in our system. This certainly that any of these officers are charged with killing Breonna Taylor. It has really been a big deal and has been celebrated in Louisville. We know it's not over. But we are extremely thankful for the Department of Justice. I have to tell you that. I want to go to Breonna Taylor's mother tamika Palmer. Who spoke at a news conference in Louisville yesterday. "Dan bongino. Dan bongino, on a big 89 WLS. So even in the great state of Florida, we have dreadful prosecutors and that Soros mold, who want to coddle criminals while attacking victims. One of them is Andrew Warren, who is terrible from the 13th circuit down here in Florida on the West Coast. So governor Ron DeSantis has had just about enough of this guy, and there's something he did Desantis suspended him yesterday, but there's something warranted and I haven't seen that many great explanations outside of this piece by the journal. I'm going to get to that in a second, but here's Ron DeSantis. He's had enough of this guy suspends Andrew Warren yesterday we need more of this around the country, check this out. When you make yourself above the law, you have violated your duty. You have neglected your duty and you are displaying a lack of competence to be able to reform those duties. And so today we are suspending state attorney Andrew Warren effective in media. Now, typically, Jim will cut out the applause, but oh, you left that in. We left that in just to show you how much excitement there is for people like Ron DeSantis who suspend the soro style prosecutors who refuse to prosecute crime and love to coddle victims. I'm caught a lot of the bad guys, excuse me. And it's act the victims. Why is what Andrew Warren did? Worthy of a suspension. Folks, let me give you just a quick analogy, right? If you're a police officer, right? He's a prosecutor, and yes, they do have prosecutorial discretion. I want to be clear on that. A prosecutor even Andrew Warren does not have to prosecute every single crime. He's not administratively or legally obligated to do that. But when I was a police officer, and you go out in the street, if you pull someone over for speeding, I pull over Jim for doing 80 and a 55, I don't have to give Jim a speeding ticket. Not administratively or not legally. There is nothing wrong with me given Gemma warning. Hey man, don't speed again. Nothing. Matter of fact, some police departments actually prefer that rather than writing tickets. Many have some quotas and other stuff. You get the point. They won't call them, they'll call them performance standards or whatever, but that's what they are. But what I can't do is a police officer. As I can not say to the ship supervisor, a sergeant, I'm not going to write traffic tickets for speeding at all anymore. I can not give a person a ticket for speeding, but I can not

"Harry, what's your title? I suppose it'll be a vice president of news and talk programming, but here at cpac, I'm best known as the only person in the entire convention that does not have either pants or a shirt or both made out of an American flag. Well, come on, get one, get with the program. Where's your flag? No, I feel naked here. It's unbelievable. You told me. You texted me today. Two things that just cracked me up. First of all, you said, you don't want to miss Marjorie Taylor Greene's session. It's called I'll take my committee back, please. And then you said that there's a, I guess, a session called the invasion with both Myra Flores and Carrie Lake. Is that true? That's right. Yep, Carrie Lake is flying in right after her victory in Arizona yesterday. In the GOP primary and she and Myra Flores who you've had on the show before Mike and you know very well from the Rio Grande valley, they are going to have this place exploding today. But it doesn't take much. I mean, Mike lindell is making a speech, Rick Scott, the U.S. senator from Florida has got a plan to rescue America. He's going to reveal JD Vance is here from Ohio that he's going to be talking about the rise of the hillbilly, which would be him. "You know, I laugh at some of these little woke social justice warriors who talk about the founders and how racist they were and, you know, slave times and I'm glad I wasn't born during those times. I really am. And I feel horrible for the people that had to endure living in that era. During slavery, but not just slavery in America. Remember slavery existed everywhere. And it still does a particularly on the continent of Africa. And it's amazing how people are silent about that. We still have the best system in the world. And we need to appreciate it even though the founders had their flaws just like you do, they created a system that was absolutely brilliant. If everyone lived up to the system, if everyone abided by the system, this system of governance infused with judeo Christian values, even they themselves remember, they had to protect the life, liberty, they are they promised life, you know, I'm sorry. They basically, they promised their lives. I mean, they knew they were risking their lives to create the system. That was created that we live in today. And it's amazing to me that people that have been so blessed by this system want to tear it down. And that's because they get caught up in the motion of all the left nonsense, left wing nonsense. That's being spewed out there. You think Brittany griner, I hope she is. I hope she's a little more, I hope she's more appreciative of being American today. Then she was the other day, and maybe she's not, maybe she feels like America abandoned her. Well, America didn't have been you Brittany griner. The Democrat party did. Elections have consequences. And I'm sorry, you can't travel to another country, not pay attention to their drug laws and do something stupid. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. That just shouldn't happen. But listen, you know, 80 D is hitting me. I want to make sure that I stay on topic. Rulers law versus people's law. And we got to see this. Rulers law versus people, people's law with governor Ron DeSantis. We get I have an example of Merrick Garland and Breonna Taylor. I have an example of with FBI director Christopher wray. And so I just want to go through these things because honestly, I want us to appreciate the country that we live in. I want us to really appreciate this country. All right, so let me just go through this. So governor Ron DeSantis, thank God. This guy, he literally sent police officers over to this woke prosecutor, Andrew Warren and Tampa Bay. To make sure that this woke DA wouldn't be able to take stuff out of his office. So governor Ron DeSantis is on the tip sheet today. Suspended liberal state attorney Andrew Warren. Yesterday, desantis made the announcement during a press conference broadcast on social media. You guys saw it or heard it or heard about it by now. The scientists argued that Warren has repeatedly refused to enforce laws passed by the legislature, cracking down on child sex change surgeries, as well as abortion restrictions. Now, some of you out there, I know what you're thinking. This is clearly political on desantis park. Now, there is some political theater to it. I will grant you that. But this isn't political. This is following people's law. And I'll get into that shortly. What do you mean about that? You're such a hypocrite. You're just backing the santas because he's a Republican. No, I'm backing desantis because he is operating under people's law, not rulers, Lockhart. Okay, so what do you mean? Explain yourself, okay, I'm glad you asked. Well, here's the thing, Andrew Warren woke social justice warrior funded by George Soros. This guy refused to enforce the laws of the land. He does not have that power to do that as a state as a state's attorney. He doesn't have the power to do so. We the people elect representatives and a governor and Ron DeSantis Ron DeSantis is the only person in the state of Florida as a governor that has veto power. A state's attorney does not have veto power. He can't arbitrarily pick and choose laws that he's going to enforce in laws that he is not. He can not do that. He does not have that power. He is operating outside of the system trying to create his own system and that is not our system. He can not do that. That is wrong. That is illegal. That is immoral. That is unethical. So he got he got the boot. And I love the fact that governor Ron DeSantis didn't just give that through the boot, but what he did was he sent cops over, so when this guy was being dismissed, when this guy Andrew Warren punk behind was being was being suspended from his duties, governor desantis had cops there to make sure that he couldn't walk out of his office with papers, documents, anything related to his computer, nothing. Nothing. Get your butt on out. I love that. That's people's law. We didn't elect Andrew Warren as governor. He isn't part of the state legislature. So he's not there to create law. He's there to enforce the law. And when he doesn't enforce the law and enforce it fairly, but once the people speak because we elected officials, these prosecutors, they have to follow the law. Otherwise, we start looking like California and New York were crime rises and laws just arbitrary. Speaking of law being arbitrary, let's move on to Christopher wray. Christopher wray head of the FBI. Half.

Ron DeSantis Suspends Prosecutor for Refusing to Enforce Florida Law

"Ron DeSantis, who is a potential 2024 presidential nominee on the Republican side of the aisle, all the polls show him within striking distance of Donald Trump at the moment and we still have a couple of years to go before the actual primaries begin. Ron DeSantis in Florida is demonstrating full scale. This particular idea, which is that if there are people who work for your branch and they refuse to actually abide by the laws that you are supposed to enforce, these people should be fired. So controversy has now broken out over the fact that governor desantis has suspended a state prosecutor Thursday for pledges he made to decline prosecuting cases involving violations related to abortion and gender transition treatment. Rhonda Santos said that he had suspended Andrew Warren, a Democrat who served as the top prosecutor for the state's 13th judicial circuit in hillsborough county, which includes Tampa for neglect of duty. The Republican governor then tapped state judge Susan Lopez to serve as state attorney during the suspension, the state has 20 state attorneys. Here's Ron DeSantis announcing his firing of Andrew Warren. The constitution of Florida has vested the veto power in the governor, not an individual state attorneys. And so when you flagrantly violate your oath of office, when you make yourself above the law, you have violated your duty. You have neglected your duty and you are displaying a lack of competence to be able to reform those duties. And so today we are suspending state attorney Andrew Warren effective in media. So state attorney Andrew Warren put out a statement saying it's an illegal overreach that continues a dangerous pattern by Ron DeSantis of using his office to further his own political ambition. It spits in the face of the voters of hillsborough county, but twice elected me to serve them, not Ron DeSantis. The problem with that, of course, is that if you have a state attorney who simply refuses to prosecute crime, he is not doing his job.

"O 6, use the promo code stars or go to my pillow dot com and click on the radio listener square. All right, Ron DeSantis broke the Internet last night. His staff announcing that there was going to be some sort of a major announcement that would trigger leftist from border to border coast to coast across the fruited plain. And that announcement happened earlier today. The governor announcing that he is suspending a woke George Soros endorsed state prosecutor. Take a listen. The constitution of Florida has vested the veto power in the governor, not an individual state attorney. And so when you flagrantly violate your oath of office, when you make yourself above the law, you have violated your duty. You have neglected your duty and you are displaying a lack of confidence to be able to reform those duties. And so today we are suspending state attorney Andrew Warren effective in media. And I say good for you, governor, there is so much great content and sound bites coming out of that press conference. This was absolutely phenomenal. This is how you do it, folks. This is how Republicans win the day. You see, so many Republican governors, and we've got one here in Tennessee. His name is Bill Lee. And he won't do something like that. He'd never go after the state prosecutors who refused to enforce the law. And by the way, that's what Andrew Warren is accused of doing. Andrew Warren went out there and announced that he doesn't care what the Supreme Court decided about roe V wade that they would not be prosecuting any abortion cases in Tampa Florida. He was literally going out in front of the cameras and daring the governor to do something. And guess what? Ron DeSantis has the man parts to back it up. Ron DeSantis got out there and he's been doing this from day one. When all of these woke corporations threatened to leave the state, Ron DeSantis said, fine, get out of here. Walt Disney, which did not do that because they've got a sweetheart deal with the government. Ron DeSantis says you want to keep this up. We're going to yank your special privileges. Why you wouldn't do that? Oh yes, he did. Got the public schools out there in Florida and what are they doing? They're teaching the kids about critical race theory alive from the very pit of hell. Critical race theory, telling little white children that they need to apologize because of the color of their skin telling black kids that they're always going to be oppressed because of the color of their skin. Lies from the pit of hell. And what did rod desantis do? He declared war on the public schools. Just yesterday, threatening to arrest any doctors who performed these radical sex change mutilations on little kids. I say good for you, governor. By the way, do you think Ron DeSantis would have the courage to do what he's been doing had it not been for the example set by Donald Trump? I mean, you think about this for a moment. Here in Tennessee, governor Bill Lee always wants to get along with people. As a matter of fact, the governor stood against the district attorney in Memphis, Tennessee, who wanted to put bad guys away for the full length of their sentences. And the governor didn't even have the courage to sign the bill into law. Truth and sentencing. He represents the average establishment Republican in the party. So I say thank you president Trump for showing the Republicans how to fight. And thank you, Ron DeSantis, for fighting. You folks in Florida, you are your blessed. There are so many other people in states like, for example, Arizona. And we're going to get to this in just a little while. But we still don't know who won the Republican primary for governor Kerry Lake has come out and says she is the declared winner, but there is no official winner yet. There are thousands and thousands of votes that have yet to be counted. We're just came out that one county put all county. Hundreds of people may not have even been allowed to vote. This is not some sort of a third world country. This is Arizona. And where's governor, where's governor ducey at? He's a Republican. Why isn't he out there physically removing these election officials from their offices? Why not? Where is the guy? So good for you, Ron DeSantis for doing the right thing. For doing what you told voters you were going to do. Every person, a Republican, running for office, you need to pay very close attention to how Ron DeSantis is governing his state, because that's how you need to be governing if you get elected. Gov. Ron DeSantis Suspends State Attorney Andrew Warren

"Announcing that he is suspending a woke George Soros endorsed state prosecutor.

"A suspend a Soros backed state attorney who has refused to enforce the abortion ban right here in Tampa, Florida. I'm in Central Florida, so this is very big news. The desantis says Andrew Warren had refused to enforce numerous Florida laws and would not work with the police. Guys, this is exactly what we don't want. This is exactly what I mean. Decide what type of Republican you're gonna be. Are you gonna be the type of Republican that understands the existential threat that the left poses to our nation or are you not? I don't know that there's necessarily a thing as a moderate or a rhino. I tend to believe there are people that get it and there are people who do not. And sadly, I still think we have people in the Republican Party who don't get it. Desantis isn't one of those people. Guys,

We need him here for the next four years, don't take them away, no presidential aspirations yet, please. Well, that breaks the heart of people all over the country, hopes to Santa's runs in 2024. Here was his announcement. Here's the governor of Florida moments ago making the announcement that he is suspending activist far left state attorney Andrew Warren. Nobody stands up to these deep pocketed tyrants like George Soros. And George Soros the other day just wrote an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal I shared it with you where he doubles down and says absolutely I believe in social justice reform and I believe and I'm going to keep doing it. And these district attorneys and state attorneys are ruining this country. With their failed policies that free criminals all under the guise of social justice, so this is why people love this guy. And for any Floridian not to appreciate how good we've got it, shame on you because this guy's the best governor in the country. Standing up to a, the radical George Soros by suspending the state attorney Andrew Warren. That's a big deal. Also a big deal is PhD weight loss and nutrition. "Want you to hear Hallie Jackson from NBC. The Today Show this morning. This is very important. There's one thing she said. Now, this is a news reporter. She's not an opinion host. She's paid to be objective. Listen to how she covered the opening of cpac in Dallas. And we're going to stop it at the point where she calls out the speakers who are concerned about election integrity, just like Donald Trump. A couple of big names are not set to speak at the conservative conference starting today, including Florida governor Ron DeSantis, but plenty of others will be there. Like former president Trump, just days after a critical test of how much sway he still has in his party. In Texas, today, the world's biggest lineup of conservatives will descend on cpac featuring Republican lawmakers like Ted Cruz and Lauren boebert, media personalities, like Sean Hannity, and the man who's still dominates the party. Former president Donald Trump set to deliver the keynote address on Saturday. Against the backdrop of a key test of his grip on the GOP in this week's primaries. Multiple candidates he backed who have embraced his election fraud lies doing well, including former TV host Carrie Lake in a race too close to call even this morning with a narrow lead against Karen Taylor ropes in the Arizona governor's primary. Lakes also set to appear at cpac after claiming without evidence before election day that the primary was rigged until the votes came in showing her in the lead. I want to bring the Republican Party together. I mentioned that earlier were one big happy sometimes sometimes dysfunctional family, but we can come together. "And I realized I had no real interest in publishing papers. On duking it out with referees and through his yearlong process of going from journal to journal, trying to get it published in the most procedure journal you could. I was like, I'm just going to throw stuff in bi archive and I understand it's important for my PI's career. We got to get this published. But I really have no interest in trying to convince anyone that my work is worthwhile. I think it will speak for itself once it's out there on buyer archive, and I can talk to people about it. And the thing I was really trying to maximize was not citations in my work, but users. I was like, citations are proxy for you actually care about. You actually care about are people using your technology and so I can sit here like duking it out with reviewers or I can just go to every other lab in the institute and present our technology and see if they will use it, right? And so I started spending my time doing that. And then from there, I realized, well, okay, if we're going to scale this effort, I can only do this a little bit by myself. But really when you start a company, we need to standardize everything, we need to scale out the distribution. We need to figure out what we're going to use it for. What's the highest value applications? And I started realizing, okay, I came to this place MIT, which trumpets this kind of entrepreneurial spirit. I remember them talking about how if you add up the revenue of all MIT alumni companies that is the tenth largest economy in the world or something like that. So I was like, okay, great, so we're going to start a company. And I realized there's a lot of differences between how you build these BioTech companies from how you build tech companies and almost everything that all the momentum at MIT was about how you build these tech companies. And I kind of asked people why, okay, I'm going to start a company. What should I do? And the answer I got often was like, well, bob Langer likes created many companies, but he like partners with people that know how to do it. And partner with these venture capital firms. They'll start the company. You can continue on what you know how to do, which is being an academic. And I had already decided that wasn't what I wanted to do. So it kind of bouncing around the ecosystem like talking to people about this. I met some of some good friends like Nate stebbins or James Weiss, or VS Ramadan, Andrew Warren. Some of this initial group who had their own kind of trajectory and discovering this. And realizing, hey, there's a real void of a community here. Like we're in the nexus of the BioTech universe or people that are creating these amazing companies or just like building careers as investors or just in pharma. Why is there no community that connects all of these groups of people together with the students on campus? And that was kind of where we created the student community. MIT BioTech group, which is now grown. I think to be one of the larger student organizations on campus. And Luke, you were our first guest when we only launched it. As we were all reading your material at the time. So I remember this well. This was around the 2015 time frame. You were getting the MIT BioTech group started. I was just getting timberman reports started, and I was there in Cambridge on a business trip. And I was, you know, doing what I do, interviewing venture capitalists and entrepreneurs, kind of like on the other side of Cambridge, right? And then I came over to meet you guys. And you started telling me this story about how there wasn't a campus wide group for graduate students and postdocs. Or I think even undergrads too. It had been kind of like a piecemeal ad hoc. If your professor knew somebody, he might be able to connect you to an internship or a job that might suit your skills or whatever. But there wasn't something organized. And you guys tested this hypothesis, creating an email list. Asked people around campus. Hey, would you be interested in joining such a thing? And you got something like 500 emails right away. And I thought, okay, it sounds like you're onto something. And furthermore, this really struck me as bizarre that here I am at one of the world's great institutions of biomedical advanced education. And it's right across the street from one of the humming beehive of entrepreneurial activity and drug development. And there's a disconnect. These two sides are not really connecting the way I thought they naturally would. What was the scene that you saw? Yeah, I think you nailed it. It really was cultural in the sense that, you know, I wouldn't say it was taboo, but it was certainly just not talked about. What people were doing commercially with the kind of work that we were that we were doing in terms of our basic research. And when you ask people, how do you get along and I discover what you want to do a lot of them graduated and then ask their professor who do you know that what should I do? And you're either going to do a postdoc or you might have some random connections to people who were working in startups or pharma, or it might be alumni from the lab, but there was really no kind of concerted there was no central kind of community where people were all kind of trading these notes and resources and networks. And so yeah, once we started, it really kind of filled a void and then took on a life of its own. So what kinds of things did you try to create for the members of this fledgling group? Yeah, so I mean, I was a small part of it. This organization really grew very quickly and there was many things that people created, including there was an internship class that students could intern for course credit with various companies. There was an angel group that MIT alumni angel group that was started by some of the team to try and help people that want to start companies and renew friends that want to start companies and when I try and bring alumni together to try and fund some of them. You know, there's all kinds of there's a career fair that was launched. But yeah, what I worked on personally was I envisioned like if someone arrives like day one and you know, you want to start companies or you want to be involved in as an investor or you just want to learn this kind of process. Like, what do you need? And so I thought about it like there's basically three things, right? So the first thing is you need to understand how people value what problems to work on. The second thing is how they come up with solution to this problem, and the third one is to go do it. And so the way I kind of thought about my own contribution to that community was let's create the class where we can go pull venture capitalists about what are the big problems that you're looking to fund. You guys have the perspective on the industry. And I would go pull all these venture capitalists and say, oh, selling gene therapy manufacturing or nonviral methods for getting cas 9 into cells. People pitch all these ideas and have come up with a book of these ideas and bring students together to work on solutions to these problems. And often it was kind of interesting to see how different those things were from what we thought was important, academically. The second class that we created was, okay, now you've got some invention. Well, how do you share a company?.

Twitter Hackers Arrested

"We have learned more about who's behind who is believed to be behind the twitter hack. And you know not some four. Powerful state-sponsored cybercrime gang, just A. we believe a seventeen year. Old Kid His name is all over the tech press. I heard you not wanting to say it on on, Mac. Breglio. So but I do have it in the show notes. To find it I mean. Yeah. You know I come from the School of journalism where you don't say the names of miners were accused of crimes, but apparently nobody else does that. So the AD the local Florida news channel. WFL talks Tim right away. They outed him as Graham Clark from Tampa Bay Florida. We. So they also. Suitably creepy, picture. Of Him. I know in fact in fact before. I reduced in size I. Actually had in the show notes. He looks a little bit like spock at so. got kind of a pointed ear. Is Little bit creepy. And, it's interesting too that his nick is Kirk. So Oh, maybe. Two Years Yeah. So Anyway the the the sad thing is this guy's life is now seriously sparked up. Yeah. He's been charged with felonies relating to computer communications and organized fraud for scamming hundreds of people using compromised account according to a press release from Hillsborough State Attorney. Andrew Warren's office. This guy Grab Clark. Now. Faces Thirty Felony Charges? So we have one count of organized fraud involving more than fifty thousand dollars, seventeen counts of communications, fraud of over three hundred dollars. One count of fraudulent use personal information. For an amount over one, hundred, thousand dollars or thirty or more victims. Ten counts of fraudulent use personal information and one count access to computer or electronic devices without authority and scheming to defraud. So in total thirty counts of felony charges, all of those felonies. So I mean I do feel like unfortunately, there's there's sort of a bit of. overreaction I, I, mean I get it that. This was not good and certainly that the law enforcement wants to send a message like don't do this even if you can Initially, the the initial announcement didn't indicate whether Clark had any partners in crime, but a few hours after the press conference announcement, the world learned that the US. DOJ had also filed charges against two other suspects believed to have helped Clark in this hack. The first of those was identified as Mason Shepherd who who's known as chair Juan nineteen years old living in Bognar Regis in the UK and the other is identified as Nima Fazackerley. Also known as Rolex twenty, two year, old residing in Orlando Florida. The US Attorney Anderson said there is a false belief within the criminal hacker community that attacks like the twitter hack can be perpetrated anonymously and without consequence today's charging announcement demonstrates thus I think an example has been meeting is being made. That, the elation of nefarious hacking into a secure environment for fun or profit will be short lived. Criminal conduct over the Internet may feel stealthy to the people who perpetrated, but there's nothing stealthy about it. In particular. He said, I want to say to would be offenders break the law Ed. We will find you please. So exactly the kind of thing hackers go. knows. That's GonNa, really scare me, I remember when I was a teenager. And in Fact Leo, did this did I? You know I was always a good kid. But oh, to be seventeen and have done Brazi network in front of me. Yeah. Yeah. Twitter early, fairly clever. Because, well, go ahead because it the way did it was kind of kind of interesting. Yeah. So for their part twitter disclosed a bit more about the nature of the attacks. They said that the that the phone based social engineering attack allowed the attackers to obtain the credentials of a limited set of employees, which then made it possible to gain access to twitter's internal. Internal Network and support tools although not all of those employees were who are initially targeted had permissions to use account management tools. The attackers you know apparently, just actually just Graham was able to use their credentials to then access twitter's internal systems and gain information about twitter's processes that expanded knowledge then enabled the attackers to target additional employees who did have access to twitter's privileged account support tools. Reuters also had reported something that I had not seen elsewhere, which was that as of Earlier. This year. More than a thousand twitter employees and contractors had access to twitter's in tools and could change user account settings in hand control over to others a thousand. And this was a key. To former twitter employees. Well as we know such widespread access makes it difficult if not impossible to defend against the sort of hacking that occurred.
