"Are looking for a woman who attacked a few women with a baseball bat Tuesday, one of the victims spoke with WGN news. Physically, I think I'm still sort of the adrenaline still there. But the damage is just like major welts on my legs, my arms. She got me in the hand. It hurts a little bit. Honestly, I don't care. My daughter's okay. And she didn't get either of our heads. Yeah, there were 6 attacks just this week. Police say in addition to the incident at 4500 block of north Mozart, the same woman with a metal baseball bat and driving a white sedan is alleged to have a tech two other women in the 3000 block of westphal plane and a 3000 block of west column. No children were hurt in these attacks. Chicago police are searching for the suspect involved in an attempted child luring in Rogers park. The suspect is described as black 25 to 30 years old, 6 foot one, a 170 pounds with a thick accent and missing upper front teeth. He was wearing a hooded Michael kors raincoat with black jeans and black shoes. Mary lightfoot has declared an emergency over the thousands of migrants sent to Chicago. Yes, of course we are welcoming city, and we will always do it as right by our immigrant and refugee communities. A radical change in advice about screening women for breast cancer, WG and stina bear reports. For years, the U.S. preventive services task force recommended beginning mammogram screening at age 50. Now a change of heart, Tuesday, nationwide members issued their revised guidelines, saying women at average risk should get their screening mammogram at 40. One in 6 breast cancers occur in women in their 40s. If we are screening these patients, we will find the cancer's smaller and more easily treatable. But they said women only need those screenings every other year. Breast cancer is the most common cancer worldwide, but deaths are down in the U.S. by 40% ever since screening began. "Trey Turner had three hits including his first home run this season as the Phillies defeated the White Sox 5 to two to win the series two games to one. We pitched well and hit well and I guess we pitched great and all three games really just didn't have enough offense in game two, but that's baseball, but it's good to get a series one and move on. Sources tell news nation, former president Donald Trump is expected to surrender to authorities Tuesday following his indictment by a Manhattan grand jury yesterday that indictment remains under seal, so the charges are still not known. The Chicago Sun-Times and WBZ, Paul valis and Brandon Johnson traded barbs on keeping schools safe following the shooting and an elementary school in Nashville earlier this week. I believe that police officers need to be at the entrance of the schools or at the very least they police car at the beginning or at the end of the school day if policing in and of itself kept us all safe based upon what we spend in the city of Chicago, we would be the safest city in America. Brandon Johnson held a rally with senator Bernie Sanders at UIC last night Paul valis met with cubs fans outside of Wrigley Field as part of several stops during the day, both campaigns have several stops today. It still needs to be determined if it was constitutional to increase the number of committees ahead of Tuesday's elections. Referred to it as I'm putting these mildly that it was unprecedented. Vaughn's double lifts White Sox over Astros 3-2 in opener

"Andrew Vaughn's two run 9th inning double helped the White Sox to a three two opening day win over the Astros, spoiling the unveiling of their World Series championship banner. Up to that point, the White Sox had left 8 men on base and Vaughn struck out with the bases loaded in the 7th. We were getting a lot of hits. "As some of the can kind of plug in my field and then not worry about for a bit and they really haven't had that unfortunately. We maybe should have brought this up earlier when we were talking about all the injuries, but on the twins preview pod we asked whether the twins were making any changes to their training staff or methods because their season was sort of derailed by entries last year too. So are the white sucks doing anything in terms of new personnel or new training techniques because for them it's just so crucial because there's just not a lot of organizational depth and not a lot of help near the majors on the farm system and just having a healthy Robert and Jimenez and moncada and grendel Anderson that makes or breaks their season basically. Yeah, if you want to like really upset a White Sox fan, I think you'd be just say the phrase. Just stay healthy. That was probably enough to get them going. Their team that's, I think, at least two or three years running now has had the thing like, well, if we're just healthy, we'll be so good when the team that struggled the most at sane healthy. It's kind of like picture saying, I just need to improve my fastball command, which is like, oh yeah, the primary currency of who and who isn't good in baseball, I'll just get some more of it, and then I'll be good to go. Yeah, they've been talking about adding a sports performance department or a sports science department for a couple of years and it's off season they finally made the hire of someone who specifically going to work at the major league level. In the last few years, they've both, I think James cruck their trainer. I want to say his first year was maybe 2021 was he kind of took over the job in 2020, but his first official full-time place in the role of 2021, their director of conditioning, Goldie Simmons first, really, was 2022. And speaking to him, I think he certainly felt that his first year being the lockout didn't really give him the opportunity to maybe do the work on the off season that would have meaningful returns over the course of the year. So this kind of in a sense room is his first real off season of getting to work and monitor everybody over the course of the year. So there's new people in place even if it wasn't just like a house cleaning after last year where they have some reasonable confidence that things are different or the people they've installed or having their first real opportunities that have an impact in some way that they were expecting to be healthier, but we'll see it kind of has to be proven. I don't know if no one getting hurt in the off season is some evidence of it, but it's better than the alternative. We probably talk more about additions than subtractions on these previews, but there was a notable departure in Jose Abreu, who was basically the sole of the team right. And there was a quote from Jimenez about when he was asked who was going to be the new leader in Abraham's absence and he said, I don't know. I don't have the answer to that. Maybe the answer to that just organically arises during spring training or as the season starts and maybe if you're winning, it's not that big an issue, but was there much consideration given to bringing a brew back even though there were some positional conflicts there and what is the level of concern about the Clubhouse post Abreu. It's funny like I saw like fan angry about the projections being like, how can they be so down when we have the same tea back? I was like, well, I did lose the guy that every projection system thinks is the best player every single year. That's probably a lot. No one had more stable projections than a brave because he played all the time, so his playing time never bounced around and he always had the same season. But yeah, I think there was real thought to like not when a Brady was brought back for the three year deal post 2019, that was kind of viewed as the well, we don't know if this is going to go because really we kind of had the plan of Succession set away that we kind of planned on LA meta is becoming we could forecast and become a DH pretty quickly we expect them to be the kind of the heart of the order guy that abraha was and they have to Andrew Vaughn who they viewed as being someone who would be quickly rise and take over first base. Certainly over the life of that three year contract was something they expect. It kind of thought they were creating a log jam when they did bring it back and a lot of that was kind of driven by the fact that like, well, he's so central. He's a team. He has this leadership role. But also at the time, post 2019, you kind of thought that he was declining in a way that was going to make things awkward. We're instead things were awkward because Abreu, one MVP in 2020 was still pretty good in 2021 and very good and even maybe reinventing himself a little bit to have more longevity, whereas plate discipline jumped up even as we affected by the same power hitting virus that claimed the rest of the Clubhouse all last year. We're now kind of erasing this level of offensive stability that no one really rose up and provided in the last three years, even though you're kind of expected this team to be more built around moncada Jimenez and Luis Robert and Andrew Vaughn than it really was last season. So yeah, I think it's a bit consideration, but I think the way how poorly the team played, how unable they were to kind of get motivated or ever turn things on or to find this level where they're approach locked in where the defense locked in. Kind of spoke to the idea of like, well, why are we going to preserve continue to jam a roster for the sake of the idea that our brain is a great leader? And as much as he is a respected Clubhouse, president, it was this magic bullet that was making everything better on its own. So we kind of need to if we think that this is forcing us to play eloy Mendez in the outfield too much or forcing us to put Andrew vonna position or even making it hard to work in Gavin sheets and it's a good matchups that this is still something we need to move on from to free up the younger players in a roster to take over and kind of be the driving force of the team that we need them to be. It's not like this current situation is working in some way that we have to preserve it. So I think there's a bit of the logic also the fact that they didn't really have much money and to bring you at earned himself a big contract and he got it from the Astros and I think if they had committed to that, that would pretty much have eaten up the budget room they were able to have for Ben attendee or the budget room that they wound up spending and possibly a very foolhardy man around my Clevenger, which were both pressing needs of the time and debuted that they could absorb the loss of a big first baseman and readjust things to replicate it while also being freed up to get the outfield that needed to get us started picture that they needed. And that's what I want to be in the path they took. All right, so last question. We know you're not an easy grader, no participation trophies being handed out here on this segment. But what do the white text need to do for this season to be considered a success? How should they define success that could be at the big league level? It could be in the system, what science of progress have to happen for everyone to declare this a successful white sex season when all is said and done. Bring it

"Other stuff could be in play. And then if you're the kings, you're like, all right, we got ivy at four. We got wing whoever 11 and here we go. We're officially doing this the right way. Because I think they were pretty enamored by the fox sabonis thing, which is why I think it won't happen. And then the girl is kind of delusional. They always feel like they're one move away from being a 5 seat. Yeah, I would imagine. Yeah, right. That's why they haven't traded some of the other pieces over the years, which is the weirdest thing about all of it. Halliburton could play with anybody. We'll figure that out with Darren Fox. But I'm more and more anti passing on ivy. I just am. We'll have a whole week to talk about it. The last thing I just wanted to mention, I'm so fascinated by how many wings there are in this draft. And just the value of wings in general, so I'm in this AL keeper baseball league that we've been in since 2004. Take us through your entire draft. Well, we have a minor league draft. Oh my God. And it's like a 25 round 25 pick minor league draft. And you can keep the guys in the system and bring them up. And for years and years, we would always just go through like baseball America's top hundred and Keith laws top 100. You would take the best picture, the second pick in the draft. And then you would get Tommy John surgery, and he would bounce around or take him 5 years. Like, we had Carlos redone. We had him for years, right? He never made it. And then we let him go because it's for your contract. And he went to the White Sox, he's fucking awesome, but now he's now he's awesome. And it was just late. So we eventually all realize just take hitters. Hitters are safer, you can pull them in. Like we have guys like Andrew Vaughn on the White Sox. We took him second. He put him in, he'll at least take like two 50, he'll get at bats. It's a safer thing. And I wonder what the NBA with wings. If guys just look at the if teams just look at these wings and it's like, you know what? Like Williams, the Santa Clara kid who I think has climbed up and I think he's become a darling. And by the way, I love him. I love the YouTube clips. I like the interviews. I'm all in. He's one of my guys. But he climbed into the first round and people seem to think he should be between 17 and 20, I guess? It's like shitty? Why couldn't he go nights? How hard is it to find a wing who can handle the ball? What we saw with Scotty Barnes last year. So I just look at all these wings and I'm like, you kind of have to nail the wings in the draft. So if those guys can play for you, think about the niece myth pick with the Celtics. They didn't nail the pick. If he could have played, if he was good, they probably win the title. And then you think of all the wings, the warriors had out there at the same time. They always had three. And it's like wings are 60% of these teams now. So I think this is going to be the year of the wings, where it's just going to be the same kind of mindset. We're just like, oh, who's the best swing? I'll take him. What do you think of that theory? I like it. And I also like something else you touched on too kind of just forcing yourself to ask questions to be like, well, why wouldn't.

"I l They've reinstated Lucas Giolito from the 10 Days. I L recall catcher Zach Collins from class Triple A Charlotte. Andrew Vaughn to the 10 Day injured list with lower back inflammation. He's been struggling mightily. They've optioned infielder Danny Men Dick to Charlotte, and they option catcher Sebby Zavala. To Charlotte Couples there. Yeah, let's let's start with Vaughn's lower back inflammation that wasn't necessarily revealed over the weekend or when he wasn't playing. It was it was leg issues, maybe stemming from his back, so that's something to follow on, has been hurting for a while now. And so he's going to be out what almost close to the playoffs at this point, well retroactive to 10, so we'll be back with timed it to get rolling. But that's interesting. Lower back inflammation. That's not something you want to deal with. In September. Now civil affair Collinses or Collins for serve. Allah is also interesting. So if and here's my other guest today, Tony LaRussa is going to be on with myself and Xander this afternoon between two and 6 30. So a bunch of things to ask Tony about these injuries, But the good news is Anderson and the leader are back with the team, and that's those are the big names. Their Zavala thing is interesting, though. I mean, if I my brothers that has oval over exact, Collins You know, I didn't think that for a while. I am. I sort of agree with you. I sort of agree with you. I think I think it's kind of at this 0.6 half a dozen or the other. Um, because of Allah had his run there, right. He kind of came back down to Earth a little bit. I don't I don't know who is going to be the main catcher come October, or if they'll keep three, both of them on the roster. Both backups, but It's an interesting question for Tony LaRussa. Today, the big the big story there. We can't bury the latest Tim Anderson being reinstated. Yeah, and plenty of time to get his legs. Right. Hopefully this is it. And like I said, they're going to ease him back in. It won't be every day. But hopefully like with 7 to 10 days to go. It's not even something we talk about anymore, you know, with with his legs, one last thing, Jesse regarding Joe Mad. What have you heard about madness time with the Los Angeles Angels? Is it similar to the Cubs? Is it Is it free Wheeling and Fancy free. I have seen him in spring training, and they did similar stuff. Memory brought over the strength and conditioning guy, Tim Busey, who was kind of the stir that does you know the straw that started to Start everything up with the Cubs. So, yes, it's similar the strongest through the drink, Jesse. Yes, right. Um, the straw that started drink. I thought I thought he'd have a little bit more success quicker there. But you've got to have pitching and they haven't had pitching, so I'm not sure if he's under the gun. There are not two years to go. We'll find out, but I thought he'd have a better year. This year doesn't help when Mike Trout's out for the year. Course he's still going to have the M V P and waiting on when Otani is going to pitch this week. Hopefully it's it's against the sacks one of these days cause I know fans would love to see him. But, yeah, I think it's still the same Joe Maddon, but they're just not winning as much. I want Brent Seabrook on. He's like, I can't just talk to Xander for 4.5 hours. Danny's like we're not putting Brent Seabrook. He's a nice man. He's a good player. He's not agreed in it. No check. "I mean, that is extreme discipline that is absolutely extreme displaying he's making pitchers throw him pigeons he wants to see and I understand that he's got 1 90 right now. But if he keeps hitting the way he's been hitting lately. That's going to get back into those two hundred's pretty soon and I think he'll get back to you know where he normally is as a hitter. I mean, other than his rookie year where you really only played 60 games. He's never hit above to 50 in a season. This is not someone who we were expecting to hit 300. But obviously the one at the beginning, I know frustrates fans. But I think to go from 20 and 34% of pictures he saw last year and 39% 2 years ago to 30% this year. I mean, that takes discipline and it is absolutely helping the team And if, as as you're saying, you know, he was dealing with some injuries dealing with some other stuff. If you're in a situation where you don't think you can help the team by taking that swing, then you are helping a lot by standing there, taking that pitch and getting on base and standing, extending the innings. So let's talk about some of the deficits the White Sox have in this 2021 season. Obviously, injuries have been a big problem throughout baseball, hamstrings and upper legs and quads and stuff. I was just reading on perspective, all the kinds of injury factors and trackers that we've been looking at. Given all of those concerns. How do you see or where do you see the White Sox kind of shopping around as we get closer to the deadline. Other other bargain fits, perhaps because most of this White Sox system as fans know Is now at the Big League level, producing and filling in for the guys that aren't there right now. Definitely, you know, it's interesting. I mean, I think that they're in an interesting spot because you know, we've seen the medical updates over the last week or so about Alloy human is on Luis Robert. We know that they could be back sometime towards the end of the year, potentially into a postseason run and You have to imagine that that was affected When you look at the division when you look at the fact that two of the 16 leave and the Indians main strength was their pitching, and those pictures are all now hurt for the most part, so they're really not in a good spot. I do think that you know any move that happens. Should probably be seen as a move for October. Not necessarily even in the regular season and in terms of holes. I mean, what stands out to me a second base. Obviously, Nick Magical is another really fun type of player, very unique type of player in a different way from your monitor, and all been in a way that I wish we could be talking about more, but of course. He is out for the year with that injury. I know that there were some reports in the last few days linking the whites up to Adam Frazier of the Pirates, and I'm not sure exactly what type of price he would command. But he is a really good player, very similar compatible in certain ways, in terms of making a lot of contact, not heading for power, really hitting for average. Barely ever striking out. And if they were able to pull off a train like that, that would be honestly probably even an upgrade over where Metrical is right now in his development, and that could, I think, put this offense back to again. It's not going to give them the home run. But we were talking about before hand, but really help that consistency. If you're if you're in charge of making the moves, then Sarah and we've heard some, you know, kind of high asking prices for a player like Fraser, who is controlled through next season Act don't like that phrasing, but who who would be You know, under team persuasion for the next two years, I guess. What are you willing to give up? I mean, is that Is Andrew von a part of that conversation. Do you dial things back to? I don't know. Croce, how much of the pirates asking for and that transaction? It's a good question, you know, I mean, I have to imagine that the Pirates are certainly look at the types of players. You mentioned that probably even for the prospects who hasn't even made it to the majors. Yet. I mean, we know that the Pirates are not going to be competing next year. No matter what types of trades were able to pull off this July, and you know, and Andrew von or, Derrick Rose say it's certainly a player who would be there to help them for the long haul. I, You know, I am. It's funny. I insanity for Foley's. I'm so like risk of Earth with trade that I'm so bad at brainstorming them just in my own looking at my over often trying to get but I do think that Andrew Vaughn is a really, really valuable piece for the White Sox, and he's been great for them. You know, I think it's really hard for fans to sometimes process the idea of treating someone away. But this team has a chance to be really, really special. And I do think that One of those high asking prices like that could really be worth it for them To really put them on that track to winning those postseason. There is beyond how well they're already playing in the regular season. Want to zoom out league wide? A little bit here? I'm curious. Sara, Where are you at? Now that we're 81 games through, At least the White Sox are. Where are you at personally? On the runner at second base in extra innings rule. You know, I think it's funny if you had talked about it if we talked about it three years ago, and there was some discussion about it was including WBC. It was in certain levels of mind relief. It's very hard to envision a change before it actually happens and I think we all are. I certainly got pretty used to it last year with to having that you know, the same can be said for the seven innings doubleheader games. I do think it changes the tenor of Extra inning games a lot. You know, there's a lot of pressure on that road team to score multiple runs in the top of the tent because we've seen that that one run. The runner on second score was close to 50% of the time for either team, So there's a lot of pressure to get a multi run lead and be able to bring in your closer and locked that down. If you are Road team, and you know there is a sort of ping pong nature to some of these games. I feel like where you see each team scoring the one running. We go a couple innings. There's been a couple of games like that lately, and it's obviously so different than what we're used to with games that used to go 20 innings and nobody would score for, like, three hours. But ultimately, I mean, I am never going to be Against any specific change. I mean, you know, baseball has adapted for so many years. I have no idea whether will continue to see this, You know, beyond this year, but I do think that we've seen teams sort of figure out exactly what beak You know, strategic choices should be, And I really think that scoring multiple runs in that top of the 10th of the row team is like the key to winning those games. You know, for a brief shining moment over this last week, Kyle Schwarber threatened to eclipse the headlines of one Shohei Otani out west. It's been a lot of fun to watch those to get as much attention as they have over the last couple. But thinking back to the start of the season, the White Sox were the first team against which Shohei Otani pitched and hit in this season. He has since Gone on to Just he had two home runs. Last outreach we as a baseball people, I think, Oh, more conversation about Shohei Otani, even if the show is called White Sox weekly, and I just It's been incredible to watch him. I wonder how you choose to celebrate the man's greatness and his whole catalog. My goodness. I mean, first going back to that first starting. I'm sorry. The White Sox fans are listening with that Sunday night baseball game. It was amazing. I mean, I do hope that even the White Sox fans were able to take a step back and appreciate that he hit 100 on the radar gun in the top of the first inning. Then he comes up to bat batting. They're going to hit the 451 ft home run. It was absolutely crushed 110 plus miles an hour off the bat. I was sitting here I screamed when that happened because it was like, Oh my gosh. He's actually doing the thing and all of us collectively and based as baseball fans have been waiting for this because he had an actually hit in the game free kitchen till this season didn't happen in 2018. He didn't pitch in 2019 and then 2020. He was not in the lineup when he was pitching, and he only made to start so To all come together and him actually do the thing and hit the really long home run as a starting pitcher. I mean, That felt like that could be. Excuse me the pinnacle And then it just kept going..

"Radio channel there. So Tony LaRussa 76 years old. Takes over the job this offseason as the manager of the Chicago White Sox, despite having a decade out of the game is manager There's already been early signs this season that maybe being out of the game for that long of a time could be a problem. Back in late April. LaRussa admitted after a game that he did not realize that his starter Lucas Giolito, was getting tired in the late innings. And admitted he left him in too long. That's a problem. He also had a situation where The White Sox were trailing by three runs with two on and two out, which brought up light hitting Billy Hamilton. Now, Billy Hamilton. Didn't have a big swing to tie things up again. They trailed by three with two out. 21. LaRussa said he did not pinch hit for Hamilton because he was quote looking for a single. Tony That didn't help you there. Okay. Two. Run single. You still trail by a run there, buddy. But then yesterday's matinee against the Reds. Here's how went down White Sox were in Cincinnati. And it's a scoreless game of the ninth. LaRussa double switches his closer Liam Hendriks in for his left fielder, Andruw on its in Cincinnati, So in National League parks, we pulls off the double switch. Which means in extras when the White Sox came to the plate in the top half the 10th inning It was Andrew Vaughn, the left fielder's line up spot. Which was designated to be the runner. That starts the inning at second base. The new extra innings rule. So LaRussa sends Hendrix his closer out to second base to run. He ends up getting to third base, but he stranded there and then Hendricks ends up having to come up where I should say get to the mound in the bottom half of the 10th inning. In the bottom of the 10th. Hendricks gives up the game winning single to Jesse Winker and the Reds end up winning Here's the issue. To prevent pictures from running the bases and extras and then having to come to the mound and pitch. Baseball's rules say, Hey, if that spot designated runner for extras is where your picture is. You don't have to run your picture. Just take the previous guy. Whoever was hitting before that spot in the lineup. He goes to second base, and he's the runner. The Rooster said he didn't know this After the game. A reporter brings up too many admits I didn't know this. Mm hmm. Fans may not know this. Some media might not know this, but Tony LaRussa has to know this because it's his job to know this. It felt like he got the job yesterday. It's not like this is just suddenly a new rule in baseball. This was instituted since the start of the season, and you've got to know this. In fact, this goes back to last season and the covert year. You can't not know this and remind me wasn't Tony LaRussa always applauded because he was the smartest manager of baseball. Is that how he brought that Cinderella White Sox team in 83 toe at an A L West Division title? Is that how he ended up getting the Oakland A's job and be bashing ace of the late eighties? Early nineties? It isn't that how he won two world Syriza and ST Louis is that Tony LaRussa was always known as having Competitive edge because He was just so good with the nuances of baseball here is LaRosa. He created the modern bull pain where you have Dennis Eckersley as your designated closer and before that setup guy 7/8 into the ninth of your closer that LaRussa had Had created all of these kind of nuances of baseball or perfected them, and he was the smartest guy in the room he would read through reams of information. Statistical analysis. He was the guy that came up with batting the picture, eighth to help have to lead off guys in the ninth spot in the lineup, but then again to the top of the line up The ruse is always been the cutting edge of baseball. And then suddenly more than a month into the season. He doesn't know a rule. So he's got his picture running in extras. I'm sorry. Tony LaRussa has to know this And this tells you he has lost speed office fastball. It tells you that Tony LaRussa is not all there right now. And it tells you that even though the White Sox or just a couple of games out of first place in the division, and even though the White Sox were above 500, even though the White Sox certainly have a They have potential this year. In fact, they're only a half game out of first place. But what could they be? If they had a manager that you know, knew the rules? You know that little thing like understanding the rules. I mean, what is the manager supposed to do these days? If your entire analytics department tells you how to manage anyway? No, the rules that's basically it. That's what you're expected to do know the rules. If you've got dozens of employees, crunching numbers on computers and giving you complete handouts in booklets and guides and dearing binders of what you do in every situation in every simulation, what is the manager's job anymore? You know to know the rules. Maybe the one thing a manager should know. 76 years old, but out of the game for a decade as a manager plops back into a contender, and that admits still a month and change into the season. I didn't know the rules. Come on,.

The tone needs to be set now, especially with two Powerful players out of the lineup for the socks. T. L R has to be able to set that that whole piece for that locker room, doesn't he? He does. I think that's important and also being able to get that line up and say, Well, who could have put in there? To replace those to Robert and the lawyers for his offense. What can I do to be interchangeable with my lineup to diversify my line up? Everybody can't just hit home runs. I like when the White Sox keep the line moving, That's what I like. No, it's a home run hitting team, But you've got to be able to get on base two more often than not just gave up. 70 home runs. Maybe maybe those two guys together. Yeah, but this is when Andrew Vaughn is a step up and we're gonna see a lot of Lori Auras tea. Larson's Larry Garcia Ego invested a lot of Larry Garcia here, pretty to Rio. So there's gonna be a move that's gonna be made. I'm sure but I'm not giving it up. And here's the other reason why she lied. Oh land, with Lance Lynn and Roldan and Kaiko still a formidable Starting rotation for the White Sox, so there's actually more positive than the things that are being missed on this ball club. So as I look at the standings right now. As much panic as there is among White Sox faithful. My brother you, my friend golf. White Sox, 15 and 12. They are a buck and a half behind a Kansas City team. The fivethirtyeight dot com says is not even gonna finish 500. They are a buck and a half ahead. Of Cleveland. They are four games in front of some 500 minutes. Soda in Detroit sucks. They're 18 21. Even with the injuries. This is this a good baseball show? This short is, but we'll go right back to the top of the top of the order right back to the top story to the manager. Let's talk about LaRussa. You saw that thing from passing Was your initial reaction of that, pal. Um And I would say this to Jeff if he was on just a friend. I love Jeff. A lot of people. Painted their picture. When it was rumored first. Bob Nightengale drops that bomb. You're not here on the year? Sure. And he comes introducing a tweet from Bob Nightengale White Sox are talking to Tony LaRussa about being the manager, not in the front office manager like No way that's stupid. And of course, Bob was exactly right. In two or three weeks later, he's hired Well, all the people that Defecated all over that. Idea. Have already cast their narrative. Yep. Jeff, are you hearing that from credible big time players in that room? Are you hearing whispers from media people who already painted their narrative and can't stand the fact that he's there. That's my question. If you tell me which one of your leaning toward you believe that because I don't believe any of the big time players and the White Sox locker room have told media types that they're concerned about Tony. I don't believe that. Here's one thing about this about that story. When I first saw that Boy. It's difficulty. Here's the difference between Two years ago, And now the beat writers can't give you those inside quotes. A great point. You can't you can't get in. There is only through zoom. It's not like you can't take someone you've got numbers. I have numbers to where I could be able to contact someone within organizations in the city and get information that way. But it's not the same as when you read a column. Now we get some of the inside stuff or trying to figure out what's going on the dugout or in the clubhouse right? Because they're sometimes they'll be writers and say, Hey, I saw this in the locker room and they'll report it right or I saw this camaraderie or this disconnect whatever you're getting that now, So it's interesting how passing was able to find this out. Even though he's not there and cannot really communicate with the players one on one Face to face correct and there's a lot to be said. I know there are fans of going with only think the media should be in it. Like when Gordon Witmeyer broke the story about Chili Davis calling the Cubs millennial players when they when if he got fired, sure. That's because over that entire year he was there. Gordon was there every day, Jesse Every day. And that's how Jesse gets Brandon Kintzler to give him something. You're like. Whoa! Do you hear that nugget? That's by developing a relationship. I got a chance to get to know Anthony Rizzo because I was there every day. It's totally different. No man, and I don't know if it's ever going back, even post pandemic. That's what I said. Like like I'm not doubting passings. You know, source. I'm just saying that it's hard for you to get that information out of there now. So we will turn this around. The socks just have to be able to play good baseball again. The positives for the White Sox even coming in was that they had a really solid starting pitching rotation, and they also had some tremendous powerful offense and a lot of that's going away down in the outfield. So this is why when you look at Andrew von I know Sox fans love Andrew von thinking he should play more little. He'll get his time this time. Not I would. I would be surprised of Andrew Vaughn is not in the light of more often than not now because of the injuries agree, but that's an acceleration. Captain's really quick for young guy. Yeah, everybody. You know, when Tony has made some questionable decisions, people how did you not put Andrew vomiting? Let's not forget this guy never had a bad over a ball. You're asking him hit the best in the world. So I'd also say that you have to make a deal because you can't keep relying on you till the guys like Hamilton and Garcia agree is putting, putting Billy Hamilton a position to try to succeed with Russia's going position unless he's drawing a walk. He's not doing much for you. But if Ric Kahn picks up the phone and calls Jed Hoyer or Ben Cherington and Pittsburgh pick any guy As a team that's probably not gonna win. It's basically going fleece me fleece me fleece me. I'm desperate. I'm desperate. That's the problem right now On May 4th, And in the meantime, Grondahl wants you at the baseball renowned them. You got 73 million. How about doing your job about you hit the damn baseball every now and then I actually feel your position. Th Great. Agreed to wait till the robotic arms come in. Everyone seems to want That guy's framing won't mean Anything? Yeah. Sox fans have you lost hope for your team with Robert Injury and the news of LaRussa allegedly habits of people doubting him in the locker room. Well, we want to hear from you 3123323776 be right back. Take that. Happened. Jay Hood.

"Could he? You know, he once fantastic. He was the one that let us know that this That was the weekend where the bulls started to pull up. There was chatter you feelers about You know, redoing the organization and kind of re tooling what the bulls were doing and who was running things. He's awesome. So that we're ago. That was that's a black King Abdullah factoid is we were in a kitchen, a little kitchen interviewing Ryan Rhys alot. Talking balls. So depressing Tom and Glendale Heights. You're on ESPN 1000. What's up, Tom? Take those things for taking my call. Um, there's a White Sox fan. I kind of understand the pagoda rankings. To be honest with you, like take Dylan sees, for example. Now I think Dylan sees has all the tail in the world. So far, his career has been met. Pretty much. Carlos Rodin has always hurt. He hasn't been that good either, but all the Lopez he hasn't been that good, either. Michael Kopeck hasn't pitched in two years. How do you project that rotation? Yeah, Our top three could be really good. But the back of that rotation has some real Question marks to say the least another another point I would bring up today. Adam Eaton. Do we really think that it means going to stay healthy? Ought to be that good. Probably not. He's 32. Now He's not 28 like you started where, like he was with the White Sox before we traded him. I like Andrew Vaughn a lot. I think he's the next friend Thomas. But if you're Dakota, how do you project him when all he's seen this single a baseball? I understand those kinds of projections. They make sense to me. You look a cure a crow shaped guys. I want to start with him here, but I'm getting really tired of people comparing him to Chris sale. I get it. They're both tall. Lanky. Yeah, they're tall. They're left handed, and they throw hard. Chris sale started 28 games in.

"One of the good listeners for ESPN 1000 and there are thousands of them. But Jim likes it just got to me and he said, Hey, Fred, you forgot allies. Third injury that skull fracture that he suffered the season opener in the human or Baseball league. That's right. When I was playing, I was playing the show my memory, right very first game of the year on all of a sudden that yet I was for hours still learning the game, so I started to leak with white socks and I was playing defense, too. And all of a sudden I came without a ball and Yeah, hit me in the head. He went out with a skull fracture out for the season. I wonder if you're the one that kind of put the Yeah, it was. It was me. That was it was. That was my opening day. And all of a sudden things didn't get better for him in the outfield 3123323776 times a little. Thankfully, he still has a bad man. Can he hit the ball between? I can't wait to see Louise Robert hit again. Just watching him ahead and just so amazing how the ball just takes off. And then Jose a break so many guys in the White Sox and not only will you be able to see it, but you'll be able to hear it. All of them right here. Right here. Spring training game time They returned to a tax weekly. Everything. Yeah, they won the last game the head here, so that's a good thing. That was the World Series winner. Yes, the World Series winner for the White Sox. I can't do the John Rooney impersonation. You gotta listen to Jay Hood, along with Cap and Jay Hood Monday through Friday from 7 to 10. Let's go, Morton Grove and John. Hello, John. What's happening? So much, guys don't worry doing well. I do things. I wanted to talk about the bears, but I was going into a store. Um I'm really glad that Maggie and the players believe in each other, but I'd rather that game plan to be actually beat somebody. And then it's far shore. We're ghosts. He's like 2 25. Last year. I know we got a pretty good year, the year before, but he be inadequate. The age for that. I think he's bamboozled somebody to get $10 million out of the national I could hit 2 25 for crying out loud. Yeah, he had a brutal year last year. There's no doubt about it, and it's out of the how you look at any of the numbers from last year because of the way that they had to play the head. You can't really have a quarantine and everything else so I thought, I think it deserves another chance. I think he's a good guy given credit for coming back from the C L tear on helping the Cubs, right, Um But I don't think the White Sox need and I really don't know. Yeah, they got the kids that get that. Catch your first basement. I can't remember his name that I think the dog No. He's a 3rd. 3rd basement. First basement of on your thought about writing for Yeah. Andrew von. Yeah, that my only problem with him and John appreciate the call. Thanks a lot for jumping out in that during your Saturday of shopping, But the thing with Andrew Vaughn is he doesn't have a major league at bat yet. How can you make him your designated hitter? He's not even Faced one guy in the major leagues yet. Yes, he has. He hasn't. I thought he did love. No, I did not come home. I confusing him with I don't know. Uh, the the third string catcher Collins? Yeah. Colleges. Yeah, but Andrew Vaughn is not had one at bat against the major leaguer plus More people have seen him. He seems like more of a gap guy as opposed to a home run hitter when he used to the next level he's going to be and I've seen him hit and he looks like a gap hitter. He doesn't look like a power guy. And I don't know that he's the you know, there were. There were people that were thinking that whites actually going to move him in order to get a big name player back in the trade because he definitely can't hit the ball. But I don't know that he's the guy you're gonna bring in half as you doesn't it hitter. Ricana hasn't talked to me about it. I don't know. But, you know, I don't still waiting for that phone call that I returned phone call. Yeah. I don't necessarily think he's the guy and that Collins is in a weird situation, too, Because last year he was here with white sacks for awhile, and you had Grand doll and You also had McCann. Well, now you just have ground doll. So are you still looking for a backup catcher? Are you gonna let Jack Collins do it? Do you like the way he caught some of these other pictures? He knows Cho Pak. Well, he knows Giolito. Well, now he doesn't really know. Let Flynn he doesn't really know. I mean, he will from last year, but hell, no. Dallas Kaiko. And he probably would know Dylan sees also. So is he going to be your second string catcher is gonna be someone else your backup catcher, So that's a big question. And they have other questions to, um, because they don't have the D H yet. And are they still gonna go out? Look for another starter, or they're gonna have it and rely on Dylan see some Michael kopeck. We have no idea. We haven't seen co back. You go back and listen to White Sox weekly. Jeff Miller talked to Ethan catch the new pitching coach for the White Sox, and he talked he was Lucas Giolito, those pitching coach. He was really high on, you know, he's very excited working with cease and Lopez. Yeah. Yes, He's very excited working with Lopez, which, as the Sox fan I'm happy to hear because you know that name is just kind of falling off. It's really talked about that. And I didn't even know if he was still an asset. I mean road on has moved on. You know, at some point, you know, these people just kind of fall off, and when he said that it's like Yeah, That's awesome news because he hasn't really been on my radar. No, I'm talking about the standard rotation. One thing about Ronaldo Lopez is that he's he's got his stuff. He's got really good stuff, but it seems like he gets he said it was had too much. And if this new guy even cats can get into his head and just to have a think about certain things, Yeah, because you could. You could always look at read all the Lopez and know what he was going to struggle. It's like he was one sweaty dude when he was about struggle, and I don't know what it was. Tommy Lasorda has been sick. He's had some problems over the last several years, and word came out the other day that he had passed away. And Tommy Lasorda was a different kind of guy for Major league baseball. We talk about how baseball you know it. Zen Eric, You don't see a lot of these guys. But Tommy Lasorda school. Yeah, he's out of tonight. She always hanging out with Frank Sinatra. Perfect for L. A. It was absolutely perfect. And, uh, anyway, I wish he would have coached here. Just being self. He would have been. Yeah, it would've been great. It would have been fun and he was acting manager. Guys love playing for him, And you know, when you have a great baseball team, it's a little bit easier to be a good manager, and I'll still always say that I always think all the sports managers are the least important to the way the team finishes, but I mean timing. Lasorda had some great amazing players..
