"Castillo Schwartz somebody called him and was asking about Andrew Thomas Because Andrew Thomas was a can't miss left tackle selection by the giants. Everybody said that this kid is just an absolutely great kid. He's going to be a great athlete. He worried technique Georgia. There was one guy didn't, and he said at the time you know that was was Joe Thomas Former all pro offensive lineman who at the time said that everybody was overrating Andrew Thomas h because of. The games that he played the competition that he faced and he saw major flaws and his technique, and you know who the guy that he rated the best off of Lyman coming out of the draft was MCI Becton. Yes. No. So anyway. All right. So that's show Thomas. There's always going to be dissenters I mean, and that's fine and I would take Joe Thomas for his word much like I would take Paul Alexander at his word think both of them. Bring, a wealth of knowledge about the position and how to play the position and techniques and everything. So in yesterday's article, Paul Alexander was saying how this doesn't look like the same player at Georgia that he wasn't using the same techniques. He he just looked different and I was just thinking is that a swipe at the offensive line coach of the giants now probably? Is that this is what we're doing. Now we're sniping coaches and stuff like that back handedly. Yes. But here's what I would say when they drafted him they thought nate's older was going to be the left tackle. They would start him at right tackle where it's not quite as difficult. It's still difficult to matter what you say and still adjusting to the NFL game the speed of the NFL pass rushers and every week you're. Playing another good team that's got another scheme and you gotta learn all these things and quite frankly when you're Georgia your mauling people, you're just basically mauling people except maybe for Alabama and maybe Lsu when they're good but everybody else on your schedule, you just drilling. So I you know my thing is is like I want all these young kids turn out to be something and I don't want them to get chopped up before..

"L and then they'd sold rocked it out because the son I believe either has cancer or has battled cancer. And Nate has well, yes, he has well, flip him over to the left side and without, you know, a real practice of lengthy summer session. I get it. It's not the easiest thing to do. But What makes it really disconcerting from for Giants Point of view, was that well, okay, the every other left tackle that was taken after it looks like a stud. That's right. I mean, pectin za Bey steals the beast on bloom on forgetting. Worse. Yeah. I mean, I'm pretty good. Yeah, You're right. So we chatted about this offline a week ago, maybe even two weeks ago at this point, like he missed again, just to get him a guy I never he just may have miss. I think I don't want to give up on these kids yet Will Hernandez is who he is. But left left guard for the New York Giants and Andrew Thomas. But still not. The point is all of these teams on the NFC East are looking bad and playing poorly and the Cowboys who were sitting atop the division Have have probably the biggest issues of all the all the teams, even though they're sitting atop the division with two wins. Everyone else's won the Washington football team. There's hope they believe that they're going somewhere with Ron Rivera, the giant's new staff. Yeah, they'll figure it out. They could figure out their offensive line. It is what it is. But there's hope that going forward to Philadelphia Eagles, you're only a couple years remove winning a championship. To be honest with the Carson wants has been bowling with all these landed on line. He is I mean, he throws too many interceptions. He didn't have one last week, but he's bawling and he's keeping them in games. And they're almost winning against the really good teams. Right. So the Philadelphia Eagles, even the 14 and one they feel like there's a positivity here. The Cowboys have the most wins. Feel like the most depressing one out of all of them because their staff who you thought was going to be good, led by Mike McCarthy, who has a history and pedigree is a championship under his belt. They're disjointed. They don't have any clue of howto tackle how to cover, you know, hold onto the ball don't have turnovers, And it's interesting because Jerry Jones You know, I was talking about this after the game, Beatty and and looking at. You know how important Dak Prescott was. I don't think we we I have realized it, but it really looks glaring How different this cowboy's team is without Dak Prescott noticed it right, Wey like any don't we got any dog will be fine because he doesn't make mistakes, even though he did last night, but he's there. He's steady. He's event. You're going to run the ball more, because this is what you have to do when you have Ziggy Elliot. Andi and he could be your catalyst. You gotta run the balm or they looked exactly the same. But worse because they couldn't come back their offensive lines of mess, garbage it that's it. Take that's That's a word that Is reserved for the bottom feeders, but it's It's kind of close to garbage. And it doesn't allow you to do much downfield because you just have to get rid of the ball. There was one play gallop was wide open. Andy Dalton's Got to connect on that You have to, you know, you see these. You see what he's got to evade, you know, and avoid some of the rush here gets out of the pocket. It just looks, you know, 2.5 step slower than Dak and and, and that's not lame or Jackson Know, or COLUMN Murray will get to that game in a little bit of we save a little later, but you just see it's It's very, very different and suddenly it is very, very dark, but The one saving grace. Is this this horrendous division? Yeah, but you had the one that went when the when the intellect of a staff when the ability to teach and basically just do your primary responsibility. Eyes questioned. You have the wonder the tentacles that will you know how far will this stretch and Mike was asked about this? Because when you have players saying, Oh, you know, on the record without their names, but certainly offering opinions. I guess it's off the record, But however, you want to frame it. Mike McCarthy was asked about what was practice like this week. And here's McCarthy saying, Well, we were home and practice was good. I felt really, I feel like the preparation coming into the game. Was was probably our best. So far this year, but Obviously, that doesn't account for anything. Particularly after poor performance like tonight. Best week of the year. Yeah, best week of the year and you had four turnovers aren't arguably they were worst performance of the year. It was the worst performance of the integrated. It's Andy Dalton versus Dak Prescott yet, but still It was the worst performance of the year because there should have been six turnovers in this game. A couple of defenses for the Cardinals dropped, you know, easy interceptions, and I mean I'm not sure how it gets better in Dallas, especially when you started digging into like the details of how the Cowboys used to win now. Granted, they didn't get deep into the postseason and have like a Super Bowl run. But it felt like the last few years you could count on the Cowboys to be steady. If you want to run the football they were going to do play action pass, But now you started to see this fundamental shift. And I mean, I don't want to put it all on one guy. But you know what happens with offensive coordinators who get elevated to positions of power. Mike McCarthy comes in. He's a new head coach. He holds on to a couple of the staff, most notably Kellen Moore, the offense of coordinator and if you're if you're an offensive coordinator in this league and you're young and innovative and you can create You're you're you're growing a young man in back press guy. What? Where is your mind? I don't want to be an O. C for the entirety of my life..

"How are you marked up? Jody? I got one thing to safety. I would say the number one wide receiver for the Giants is Andrew Thomas. Who made a nice play in the Panther game today, tackle eligible, so listen, Jody. Oh, my God. So the Giants Only five You know, are they really own 51 dot line against Chicago. 17 9 driving against the Rams today gained 14 points on the board. Otherwise, giants for like 50 points. And it's a blowout for Dallas. Everyone's going crazy. What camp Fleming like like I don't understand it and then, like the wide open Slaten in hand zone, but the biggest problem in the biggest problem 47 pressures today by Dallas. Every single play was Jones running for his life having to throw off the edge having to throw off like it was just He couldn't step up in the pocket. It was atrocious. And then on top of that developed a Freeman. I understand the yardage. How many crimes that he run back and forth, he run back, and then he stepped up. I just go straight. Still, he's still learning. He's learning is lineman and how best to maneuver on Barclay would have had 5000 yards. Barclay Barclay has been with the team for two years is a star. Jerry knows all motive. Guys work in front of them. I'm not telling you that Freeman has been good. He really hasn't been, but I'll cut him some slack. Does he just got there in the middle of the season? $1 million contract, you know, let him play. We're going to play. But Jones hasn't sort of touchdown since week one. The turnovers are absolutely atrocious. I mean, blindside hit today. We're crazy by Dallas. I mean, they could have got like, nine sacks today. You got to know you step up. He made a couple of good players. Don't get me wrong. I need you, Jeff. You're way worse. Jessel or re alone, fighting again blown out everything a week. Giants are like white Bear. And I mean, you got the Eagles in Washington to winnable games, but you never know. But like, where does this team gold moving forward? Because of the jet. Think they're going to draft Trevor Laurence? That's gonna solve their problems. All the hold they have. That's not happening. And if gentleman gets fire and a new GM coming well, well, well, What do you mean by what do you mean by that's not happening. Have the gets finished one in 15. They take travel. Lawrence. Are you suggesting that that's a bad decision? That decision I got. Well, I got news for you, pal. If the Giants go one in 15, and they have the worst record, they're going take travel large with the number one pick to Daniel Jones hasn't shown himself to be a franchise quarterback in any way, shape or form. So you've got a kid that's a talented his trouble, Lawrence and he's there for the taking. You figure out what to do with the current quarterbacks on your roster, and you take that young man jets or Giants same exact situation. You see exactly what happened in Arizona. Josh Rosen. Obviously they came in. They traded up from then all of sudden, they're like you know what new coach I want calamari and write. What happens if the Giants get rid of gentlemen and a new coach and a new GM convinced They have no work. Well, if gentleman gentleman may get fired, and thanks for the call Mark Gentleman may get fired. They're not firing. They're coach After one season, Ioan 16. The Giants could go in 16, and they're not going to fire the head coach. He's going to be given a chance. It'll all be dumped in get a woman's lap for his decisions and the moves he made and the right story put together. The current coach is not going to pay for it with one year the Jets are definitively gonna have a new coach. I don't think yo Douglas is job is in jeopardy. But I don't notice he's 100% locked in either because the Jets are worse than I thought they were going to be. I don't they were going to be ah, below 500. But they're staring too and 14 into paste and that that that may be optimistic. And the GM who ran lashes draft and has some control over this roster. Some moves were made before he got here the ridiculous way it was handled last offseason. The GM out the door is allowed to sign the free agents and run the draft. But then they fire is but just tells you how Ah disenfranchised, the franchise is But I would say that Joe Douglas is probably period pretty safe. Just the way I say the giant head coach is safe. No matter how bad this season gets Speaking of the Jets, let me do that with IRA from Staten Island. Hello, IRA. Good evening, Jodi. So that was a giant fan Who knows the Jets are going to get the number one pick and is playing that they know we're going to trade to pick for picks because they really want travel or engine number two. So I don't think he said that. But he said, Ah, he made it sound like it to get took travel. Lawrence. That would be a mistake because they had so many homes and they have to fill all of those halls. But You know might take you and I have already discussed this. I'm a big Lawrence guy. If he's available, you've got to take him. Ah gets and or the Giants. Daniel Jones has done nothing to make me say, OK, let me package those pics. I'll pass on a once every decade Quarterback and stick with Daniel Jones. He hasn't even told me as much as Sam Darnold. Has. Donald had a little bit more time to do so in actually year, but it doesn't matter. Neither wanted me to tell me enough to make me say, Oh, I'll trade the number one pick on past on a Ah, I'd say the highest ranked quarterback since Andrew Luck came out. I would even go as far back and you mentioned yesterday. I say Elway because I think he's just tremendous But get to get into that. Today's debacle. You know, it's really unbelievable Yaar. I'm done with the coaching staff. I mean, they could back up the truck and with the mall. Maybe you mean a bunch of friends to go in there and finish out the year. But the bottom line here is, um it's just downright embarrassing. It's worse than Kotite. It really is the garbage that they put on the field. And you know somebody efforts. I thought Flacco actually held his own. Today. I was surprised, especially he ran the ball a couple of times surprising and even crept back into the game that 17 10, But you know, the third in one hand off the West Hall was just just amazing. But the way I.

"There's things that they need to improve on. Nobody's going to be coming into this league completely in one hundred percent. Perfect if they want to get to that top level of being an elite player at their position or even just being really really good starter for your team. There's always gonna be things that they need to improve on. Chris Witter the like the big things for you that you think. Andrew Thomas needs to work on going into this rookie year. It may be going forward early on in his career. I would say from the start it from the ground up his foot work. One thing that kind of jumped out to me was especially when he's blocking downhill. Even though I praised it in the first half he does have a pretty noticeable bucket step and I know. The more coaches use that as a coaching Q. I tend to agree with Charles Bentley in that at the NFL level. When you're facing off against von Miller Aaron Donald J. J. Watt Khalil Mack Chandler Jones demarcus Lawrence. Just all of these incredible pass rushers that head. Thomas is now going to have to go against you. Don't give anything up because you might be big enough strong enough long enough quick enough to make it up on the back end at the college level you are not. GonNa make it up at the NFL level. So I would like to see him kind of get rid of that bucket step in just drive forward from the start and then also just consistency with his footwork in pass protection especially against really athletic. Pass rushers nick mentioned? Dj Want Him and he did give Andrew Thomas. He Made Thomas Work All game long. Which is kind of surprising. When you saw the games that Thomas had against Julian Okwara End Klavan chason. It was Kinda funny to see a guy like Dj Wadham. Who is I believe? He was selected very late in the draft. How he gave Thomas so much trouble but he is a long quick athletic defender and Thomas kind of has a little bit of a tendency to abandon his technique yet. Lettuce feet narrow. Let his niece straighten hips rise and that just makes a little too easy for the athletic pass rushers to get around him now. Chris nailed it with the pass protection. Portion he does let his hips rise sometimes his knees rise and his feet narrow and that can pose problems. Now it's not overly consistent. I want to make that clear but there were times on film where I saw. All those things happen which led to balance issues and led to his pad level rising. I've seized technique at sloppy. In the sense that he'll overextend at the hip and lunge towards the pass. Rusher off the ARC. That's when want him. Would you know hit them with that club? And then be able to kind of turn the corner around him. So those things need to be cleaned up upon. If you'RE GONNA against demarcus Lawrence Ryan Kerrigan twice a year. You know Brandon Graham players like that they're going to pick up on these kinda tendencies and I saw it kind of happened as the game moron. I'm not sure if it was a fatigue issue but he definitely needs to work on those little kind of hiccups and another thing but his footwork and his slide. Consistency isn't always great now. It's usually good. But I've seen not necessarily false steps but hitches in his slide to where it's just like I didn't really look as smooth. It's a little bit herky-jerky and I was just like okay. I gotTa take note of that so those balance issues which are kind of you know really put to light by the fact that he allows his pad level to rise definition and now his punch now. He has heavy hands but his placement consistency. In Time Inconsistency Arnold that great in pass protection and. He's kind of a taller and I talked about. Tong are my podcast with Dan. Schneider a big Blue Banter. You know shameless plug but taller. Taller is basically wind a When an offensive tackle instead of earning the inside breastplate and punching up through the defender they kind of come around and Hug air flowers. Do this a lot and by no means comparing the two whatsoever but I did see Thomas. Kinda have that issue because he has to strengthen the link to do that at the collegiate level and he'll get away with it but in the NFL. It's more than likely not going to happen. Is Pretty easy to break out of that? If you're the strength is somewhat comparable on. Especially if the pass rusher establishes a half Ma'am relationship which can also you know I balance issues and things like that for the offense of tackle something that Thomas Somewhat struggles with so strike. Placement is definitely another so a little concern of mine again. It's not always. He doesn't just go out there and hug you know embraced hug kind of thing. But it's definitely not as consistent as I would have liked to seen so he has to kind of maintain that low center of gravity. You know sit back on his hips. Be PATIENT AT TIMES. Don't lounge and then be able to really strike with purpose placement and timings. Those are the things that I really WanNa see him work on. I hope he does and I think it's in his will house to really correct and just one more thing. I would like to see him. I get coached out of work on. However we want to phrase it is when he does get beat especially by a speed rusher. I do notice him us a little bit of I can only call it block do where. It's almost like a judo. Move where he kinda clubs the guy in the back in to push him past the pocket and I I would be worried that at the NFL level. The rest might start throwing flags for block in the back on that one. I do it against Josh Allen. The good one. I believe he did it again. I believe he did it against Aquirre and cream in the Notre Dame game. He might have done it against. Chason Something where you don't want your linemen to be hurting your team. So that's something I'd like to see him more more careful about and Chris. I don't know if you saw this at all. But sometimes I saw him really give up his chest because he does have the length to make the initial contact. Sometimes he'll have his hands just a bit slow to make that initial contact and it kind of gives the defender somewhat of an advantage. That's another thing that I just was a little bit nitpicky about and I wanted to take note on is the fact that he does give up his chest and I think if you do that at the NFL level consistent enough. It's really going to set defenders up to succeed yet. I did see that as well. And that does seem to kind of be a little bit of a A consistent issue with some of these real long armed long levered guys where they know. They're big and long so they maybe a little bit sloppy about it. Where some some of the guys who are thirty three charms are they can't afford to get away get away with it so there are lot tighter with their punches and with all that being said with all those weaknesses things. He needs to work on if he can work and improve. I think we all agree here. He has a decently high ceiling. Use the fourth overall pick in the two thousand twenty class for for good reason. Dave gettleman saw something in Andrew Thomas and realistically he should have one of the higher ceilings. Out of the tackles in the whole twenty twenty class. Chris what do you think is is a good projection for what Andrew Thomas could turn into his his highest possible potential for her being a player on on this giants team I was the highest projection that I would feel. Comfortable would be a consistent. Top Ten offense tackle. Yeah I I'm not sure if he is a consistent pro bowl or you're one of the top two or five offensive tackles in the. Nfl There are quite a few good ones. But considering the sixty four starters I think him consistently being a top ten guy who could have a good year especially if the giants get a favorable schedule could be at least in the cage pro bowler I can. I can definitely see him. Be a top ten tackle in the NFL. Also you know somebody who occasionally makes the pro bowl. Obviously you have to stay healthy. In these kind of situations I think it's definitely in his The remmel possibilities for Andrew Thomas to be top fifteen top ten tackle in the national football league and it's going to be interesting to see where he starts even home of left tackle right tackle and all that such a conversation amongst giants fans as of right now so but he does have the capability in the versatility to do it. I mean he was an all American as a right tackle freshman all American Offer the freshman obviously and then obviously left tactic two thousand eighteen. He was second team all American and he was first team all American last year left tackle so he does have a versatile versatile way to be employed. But I can Go back to your original question I would say. Yeah I think top ten is something that it could be. But you know. Development isn't always linear doesn't mean you're always going to develop and become better so we have to take to the coaching and he has to adapt to the NFL spe- which is somewhat of a projection. But I believe that is definitely possible in realistically speaking. We were talking about this before. The show is in terms of what he can project into. I think we'd all rather have a guy that is above average maybe pushing or close to that top ten projection or top ten ranking out of all tackles that left to right tackle. Then what we've had over the past five or more years. Which is Eric Flowers? Nate solder Mike REMERS GUYS. That have just been inconsistent and not entirely panned out to the expectations. We've had and just having a guy that is consistently there that is healthy and that is playing at an above average level on a consistent basis. Is All this team really needs instead of trying to You know high risk high reward on a guy like Eric Flowers was an I say this and heavy quotes supposed to be the Jerry recent. Tom Coughlin might have thought he was going to be instead. You're trying to go and get a guy that is going to be a little bit safer. And and the reason why we I'm saying that he's safer and it seems like a lot of people are saying this and I'm sure you guys could. Both agree with me is that he had the highest floor out of all these top guys that we talked about throughout this full draft process. He he's got a lot better place to start off from and if he doesn't improve then he still has a you know a a general decent basis for what he could be in his career. Chris where do you really see his floor being as a as a player on this offensive line? I think you said it perfectly when you said he was safe and I think just a perfectly functional fine average offensive. Tackle is about his floor. I mean he could boss it. I think any player could bust. But I think he's pretty safe He is probably about as bust proof as the giants were going to get. I think if his floor would basically be a CAM Robinson type player. They have some similarities in their game. They're physically similar as a guy who was just fine. He might not be reason why you win a game. But he's probably also not going to be a reason why you lose a game and I think that's a floor ally. Giants fans should be pretty comfortable with. I think he's going to be better. Even even floor is GonNa be better than what the giants have been used to Eric. Flowers in the two thousand nineteen. Nate's older I think is floor is much better than than those but maybe it would be someone who is of adequate to solid star. Somebody again is isn't who will make a couple mistakes in a game. That may even end a drive. But somebody who's going to be consistent in within the run game and also with his anchor but might need to clean up some of his pass protection. And that's it the development doesn't take but I just from everything I've read in heard about the cade. He seems like a really bright young man and he's just has his head on straight which I believe gentleman puts a high president on when drafting and evaluating these players. You wants to get the right culture into the giants locker room. I mean the giant cattleman and the giants have kind of gotten rid of a lot of these Odell Beckham. Junior's these Landon Collins these ally apples these quote unquote bad culture guys and we can bicker argue back and forth on..

"This year's draft class with taking Andrew Thomas the offensive tackle out of Georgia so on today's show. We'RE GOING TO BE BREAKING DOWN. Andrew Thomas for you here. Based on his traits things he does as an offensive lineman. So you have a better understanding of who is going to be for the giants going forward to kick us off here though as an offensive tackle. You're going to have to run back. You're going to have pass block. Obviously Chris what do you think of Andrew Thomas as a run blocker? What are the some of the things that you saw from him on tape that he's going to be bringing to this? New York offensive line. You know I think the first thing that really stands stands out about him is his really just his mentality he is. He's a mall or he's a brawler however you WANNA say he likes to take it to the defenders he likes to create movement pushed is around and he can create motion on the offensive line as a run blocker. Many you gotta look at all the types of assignments and executions that Thomas is able to bring to the table. He can block down aggressively and drive his opponent into the deck with amazing lower leg drive because he has a really really strong lower body and base he can kick out scoop block. Say like a five technique or maybe even someone who's a little bit wide turn his hips and seal that player so someone like one hundred swift at the collegiate level can just run through that. See Gap Kinda have that alley. There's a reason why swift. Who is a talented running back? Had a lotta open holes. Because he had run blockers like Andrew. Thomas and as a Wilson on the other side really really strong players at the point of attack and Thomas met. He'll just drive through your face and that's one of the things I absolutely love about him. He can get his hands inside in. The run game turned seal. Like I was talking about and just bully people back off the ball and he also is athletic enough to get to the second level located linebacker. Cut off his angle. He has long enough arms to also kind use his arms and his length to the advantage in those kind of situations so there's a lot of positive things to glean from Andrew Thomas and his ability to effectively block on the edge blocked down on a three technique as a backside blocker. So she you're looking at him on the backside on the playside. He's very very effective. And it's one of the things I love most about Andrew Thomas Game. Is that Mahler mentality that Chris was alluding to he will want to dominate you and he did it successfully at the collegiate level. Now will that translate to the NFL? It should but obviously you're playing against faster stronger. People in there might be a little bit of an adjustment there but man I I love. The fact giants added somebody with this specific skill set. Yeah and I also really like his power as a run blocker. We don't know for certain but Jason Garrett always kind of gravitate towards a inside zone or man gap run blocking schemes. He likes to really put a hat on a hat. And try to impose his will on the defense and then just run downhill and I think that as a run blocker is really what enter. Thomas is best at where he can use length. You can use that size and just move people a hundred percent. Chris man he he. He does all that again. I think he can do all that. You take any gap. He can get out in Space Trista worse than that area but you can get out and space on power tosses and things like that counters. What have you? And he'll do a good job on duos things like that. He's he's a. He's effective all those levels. He he has it in his a skill set to execute all those at a high level. That's one of the things again like I said I'm really excited about. You may not have tested as the most athletic tackle in this year's draft class at the combine. But you really do see all that functional strength all that stuff you guys talked about bringing muller mentality and it seems like the consensus for a lot of people is that Andrew. Thomas is strongest trade. It can be that run blocking ability bringing it to the left tackle position for the giants now for left tackle though it seems like the the most important obvious thing is going to be. How well do they pass block? How can you protect Daniel? Jones's blindside Chris? What are you really get from the sense of seeing what he can do as a pass blocker in most cases he's going to be a reliable pass blocker? There's I think there's some knows we both have. They're going to crop up in the second half of this but yeah he's good enough against most pass rushers. He's got those long arms so he can make contact i. He generally get good placement with his hands. He's got plenty of strength to hold up against bullrushes. He CAN ADJUST WELL IN DEAL WITH GUYS. Who Bust out counter moves. I think one of my favorite place was him dealing with Kvant Chase in using a spin. Move where he just kept square. Captain kept in front of him in used his hands to really keep chasing from being able to slip the block. Get into the backfield end for big guy. He moves surprisingly well. You know you wouldn't. I don't think you'd expect anyone his size to be able to move his feet quite like he does it. He has really strong foot speed. You can really see his ability to mirror and redirected. It's it's really expected when you look at them on tape before he moves. You wouldn't really expect him to have quality feat that he does for a player as heavy as he is nick. What are some of the things that you really noticed in his pass blocking what he and what he's able to do to protect the blind side of quarterbacks Chris was saying I mean he just that sheer length that Thomas Processes really will help Some of the US he I think he his feet are okay. I think his foot speed is solid. It's good it's functional but sometimes a for instance against Dj want him a couple times where he let dj. WanNa get hip to hip. And then Thomas overextended. And I know we'll get into some of his deficiencies A little bit later on these specific reps and then want him used a chop to chop the outside arm of Andrew. Thomas getting him off balance but Thomas is able to use his length to still kind of recoup himself and push want him up the pass rushing arc. That's something that he can do just the fact that he has that that kind of a thing to rely upon if he does make mistakes in his life if he does get beat by speed which is something that was consistent in his game at college but it did happen a little bit so think just the sheer length that he has issued and my favorite thing in pass protection with Andrew Thomas. His ANCHOR HE CAN. Anger is very hard to believe rush him because he's so strong at the point of attack he can anchor. He could re anchor if someone gets a lower than he does and is able to just bought him back a little bit. He has the ability to kind of re set his hips generate power through the ground again and just re anchor himself was one of my favorite things to see him do A. He's not a liability in that case whatsoever. But I think he's going to be a functional faster. He's GonNa be solid at it. I think there are some things you can clean up on will touch on some of those little bit later. But he's incredibly strong at the point of attack has all the length that you want to see are the is feeder quicker than some of the you know. The feed aren't terrible will go with okay. I don't think they're I don't think they're excellent. I think they're solid to good. Probably I would say But especially like maybe as the game wears on a little bit more deficiency with it. But he's GonNa be he's GonNa be fine as a pass protector protecting Daniel Jones. Something that Dale Jones did not had a lot of last year protection. So he'll get this season and it seems like a lot of times with these tackles coming into the league that are drafted early because of the schemes. That they're dealing with. They might not be as clean. Technically I think like Josh. Jones is a good example that he didn't really have to do some of the things that you see at the professional level in that type of air raid offense. And you're not really getting that full skill. Set from some of these tackles and I guess you bring up a lot of good points that he he's feet are pretty good but in terms of his foot speed is pretty good but what. You're getting in terms of technique is not as clean as you would. You'd hope for but he's got plenty of time to improve and get better and work on that stuff coming into his first year in the league. So we're going to get to the second half of the show where we're GONNA be talking about sealing his floor and also some things he needs to improve on but before we get to that we're gonNA take a very short commercial. Break a magical. I in ancient tree branch and a scoop k zero island by ghosts where all the answers are. Why welcome to the island of explain where we answer questions about? "Still on the board so Chris like I said. I don't think either of us were really expecting Andrew Thomas. It seems like all this work we did and we put in here. We were talking and saying it's going to be Isaiah Simmons. It's going to be worse. It's going to be wills maybe MCI Beck and I feel like we never dawned on us to talk about Andrew Thomas but apparently all this time Thomas was their number one guy and they liked worse. But Thomas just trumped everything out of all. They looked like they were trying to make a trade and they were they were going down to the final seconds there on the clock but ended up. Going with Andrew Thomson surprised us a little bit. Yeah from what we heard and what the smoke signals seem to be as the giants were trying to work a trade. Their preferred move was to trade back amass a little bit more draft capital. We kind of heard that they were working trying to work something out with the Carolina Panthers as well as the Jacksonville Jaguars. That was a little bit earlier. Rumor there was some truth to that but turns out. The trae didn't happen so the giants went with Andrew. Thomas and I think the reason we We kept drifting off of him is he is the safest of the top four tackles. He has the highest floor. He doesn't quite have the ceiling of the other is. But he's played both sides. He's played well at both sides. His feet are good enough. He's got really long arms yup over thirty six inch arms which is kind of ridiculous and you know we do know. Dave gettleman loves him. Some long armed is yet he has. He has a good ability in the run game. He can pass protect. Well does have some things to clean up particularly against particularly fast or particularly powerful pass rushers but he has a nice high floor. He doesn't have the ceiling of wharfs or becton but he's a much safer pick than those guys which considering where the giants are really shouldn't be that much of surprise they went with the Safe Guy. Interesting to look at Andrew Thomas and who is prospect? You talk about that arm. Lengthy six five three thirteen thirty six in eighth INCH ARMS. Ten and a fourth inch hands really. Just a big bodied guy is in terms of the prototypical traits. You want in an offensive. Tackle is the extreme of that in less. You're talking about MCI. Becton he has one of the the largest dimensions for an offensive tackle at the NFL. Combine is forty. Time was not really that jaw dropping but for a tackle doesn't really mean that much five to two twenty one bench reps pretty good for long arms like that. Thirty and a half inch vertical. A hundred and six inches on the broad jump seven point five eight three cone in the short shuttle. I thought was pretty good for six six. So very technically sound guy. Though you you talked about some of the stuff that he really brings to the table is just very technically sound and he can step in and start right away. I think that we're things Kinda get a little bit mixed up here. Is that if you have nate? Solder as you're likely and confirmed left tackle. Can we assume that Andrew Thomas will just easily make that transition to right? Because that's not always the case we look at least new with wills or worse. We were getting a right tackle with the giants. But but Andrew Thomas can you really make that prediction that he's GonNa just seamlessly slide on over to right tackle? Yeah he has played right tackle before he started as right tackle as a freshman and he did play well then but that was also a couple of years ago and yet the off season. This year is just weird. We don't have. The giants are starting their virtual off season. We don't know when and how the players will get to work with coaches what camp will look like. So do you move him over to right tackle or do you leave him at left? Tackle a position that is at least more immediately familiar. That might have a little bit shorter learning curve for him but then also ask nate solder to transition over to right tackle. So that question in of itself why I was kind of leaning towards wills or wirth's just because you could slot them in at right tackle right away. They don't have to learn or relearn any different techniques or basically. Do the mirror switch from left to right with their hands and feet. That's the giants are going to have to figure out. Fortunately Thomas is a he is experienced. He does have good technique coming out and really he's going to need it. 'cause wallet draft was going on. I went through and looked at the giants schedule coming up. And Thomas GonNa go through a trial by fire. The giants are going to face. A lot of good pass rushers. They're eight separate teams with double digit sack producers nine individual wt sack producers that are going to face and a total of three hundred and fifty four and a half sacks last year. We're GONNA find out right away if Andrew Thomas is the real deal and I think if you consider what we talked about this whole time during the off season the pick makes sense We were not predicting this we. He wasn't even a guy that we really thought was in the conversation. I talked about earlier in the show. But if you consider everything that we talked about early on during or actually not early on recently with the issues with Cova nineteen incur virus and the limitations that the NFL had to put down on themselves and not allowing the ability to host prospects and go to produce it makes sense why they went with Andrew. Thomas you talked about him. Being the safer pick he seems like the safer guy in the cleanest guy on tape. And you don't really have to worry about in potentially not translating as cleanly he doesn't have the highest ceiling out of the group but he can step in and start to easiest out of out of the other tackles that were drafted in the first round. So if you think about it in that sense that we talked about how. This year's draft is going to be a lot more based on film rather than the workouts and he wasn't the workout warrior like Tristan wharfs and MCI BECTON. But he did end up having the best tape. And that was what the evaluation came down to and Dave gettleman even said that. He said that they're relying a lot more on tape than they typically are so it ends up coming down to that. That's why Andrew Thomas ended up becoming the guy so round two is going to be coming around tomorrow for us to see what direction they'll be going in. Is that when they decide to go with defense in pick up? Some playmakers in some weapons. There's a lot of really talented guys still left on the board before we talk about them. We're getting a very short commercial break. Surprisingly there's a ton of players still left on the board for the giants to select at thirty six overall depending on if they trade back or up or if they stay in that spot or not. There's a lot of guys that we talked about his first round players that we were praying that fell to the giants now. Cesar release was one of those guys that we were hoping fell to the giants. He is no longer on the board. However there's a lot of really good options that you you've put out here for US Chris. Yeah you know when we did our consensus big board. We got some five five. I won't say criticisms at least questions about how many I or I slash second round fringe first round grades. We gave out Wind up with thirty five total but now you can see why. We gave out so many first round grades. This is just a remarkably deep draft particularly at the offensive tackle wide receiver positions. Really we are getting into the meat of the draft there. There is going to be so much valuable available in the second and third rounds if we say. The giants have addressed the offensive side of the ball. Now they're now they go to the defense got Gross maddow's out of Penn State Defensive End Zach bond linebacker slash edge out of Wisconsin Grant Dell a safety at Lsu Jeremy Chin safety out of southern Illinois also Doug still on the on. The Board Xavier mckinney still on the board Antoine Winfield still on the board. Atf AN ESA is still on the board. There are a bunch of really good defensive players just sitting there and at least one of them is going to be available when the giants pick assuming they don't move also giants could double dipping. Get another offensive Lineman cushenberry. The third is on the Board Matt. Hennessy is on the board them. Got Again the receivers. Levinsky Chenault is still there out of Colorado Got Denzel mims out of Baylor Michael Pittman out of USC if the giants WanNa add speed K. J. Hamblur out of Penn state and I haven't even gone over my head with the board open yet. That's just off the top of my head. Also t higgins. Is there at Clemson? The the number of really good receivers still available is pretty impressive. Now the question is can the giants afford to wait on those receivers for the third round the end of the third round? Could they move back and possibly get the high third round pick? They are missing that they used to trade for Leonard Williams by looking at our board. You can see even if they moved back a little bit. There are going to be good players available if they stay right where they are. You talked about all of these defensive players and that's really catches my eyes. Gross MOTTOS WOULD FILL. Anita's an edge. Rusher Zach Bond. Is the one that we're really going to be eyeing here for. A potential option for them coming around the bend here in the second second round. If he's still available at thirty six I think the giants would be a static to to select Zach Bonner guy that they probably graded as a first rounder and has positional versatility and could fit. Well with what the giants need. They need a guy that has that past experience but then could use him as an off ball outside linebacker in this new multiple four three scheme that they're going to be coming up with Patrick Graham. So there's plenty of options for them to go with to go defense in the second round and then do they clean themselves up with taking a center like Matt Hennessy. In the third order they go receiver. There're a lot of options for them to go here and honestly taking Andrew Thomas Fills. That need is the first time in a while that they've spent a high draft pick on an offensive. Lineman. And now we're in a position for the giants to still take a really really talented. Yeah this is a very deep draft class at a number of positions and they can still go out there and take someone that is going to come in and step in and likely start in contribute at.

Miami Dolphins Draft 2020 – Beefing Up The Defensive Line
"The dolphins coming in with Pick number five. They have a lot of needs to. What are they going to do with that quarterback position? You know what they do. They desperately need a quarter of quarterback. There there's no doubt they they do have. I don't know if this makes you feel any better about their situation. They have Josh Rosen. They have Ryan Fitzpatrick. Are Those guys? You're going to build around probably not. I'm hearing that there's any from Justin. Herbert to to attack overall is going to be there. I think the dolphins are going to surprise a lot of people. They're going to get the unsexy pick here. And they're going to take an offensive lineman out of the first round as well. I wouldn't be that shocked overall. I I could see this team doing it but I keep going back and forth to be quite honest with you of what this what they might do because that quarter quarterback is so important obviously for your franchise as you build but the bottom line is the dolphins have a lot of needs. You know they want to take a quarter. But you know you're hearing you're hearing all this thing about the Wunderlich score you're hearing about the you know. Obviously the injury is there. They have three first rounders. So could they wait a late around and see? What happens to some of these quarterbacks down there or do they just flat out go with a guy that could be more of a sure thing for them at the end? I like Andrew Thomas. The offensive tackle. I think they're gonNA go with the Linemen and the Miami Dolphins fans are GonNa be very upset but this is based on everything that I continue to read. They have sent sent up a lot of smokescreens but I could see them going with an offensive Lineman to say listen. We're we're going to be an interesting spot here either way we go. We're just trying to figure out the next step for us in our rebuild process and a process so I could see this team doing that but I think they go with Andrew. Thomas the tackle out of

"To be a run on the offensive tackles see that's why it's not a given for a team like the jets to say all right where they're sitting right now they will P. position to get you know all whoever packed in Andrew Thomas because you don't know necessarily if those guys are gonna be there it may turn out IRA that may be the run on tackles that being predicted is getting a little bit over blown but it also could be a situation where you know the need for a lot of these teams is there and after a borough in it to win a Herbert or take in after Okuda and Simmons it's tackle tackle tackle tackle in the jet set all right we're not in love with that next year we're not going to reach for that next year let's go get this started receiver that's why IRA I prefer them at this point to go get a tackle but by no means what I mocked the jets if they ended up with a Judy or CD one in fact two teams that could be in play for receivers the jets the one and remember the Niners made that trade with Indianapolis for the forest Buckner I think they need a legit number one receiver to put alongside people Samuel I would expect the Niners to go get themselves a wide receiver yeah I think you're a hundred percent right and well what I would do you know Denver Denver is gonna get them get a quarterback if I don't know about that quarterback I I think they like to walk I think drew lock is going to be their quarterback zero right now that I would have circle for quarterbacks you got bangles obviously dolphins obviously Chargers obviously then you get to that next tier and it gets tricky because all the raiders gonna draft a quarterback they might in the later rounds I don't think they're going to do it in the first round what Marcus Mariota could Carolina potentially draft a quarterback maybe if they you know look at teddy Bridgewater's for more of a place holder type guy then maybe they're employed to draft a quarterback but then after you get through those three big teams there could be a drop off where one of the quarterbacks ends up going in the leader port all of the first round and who knows that could open a door for a team like the patriots or another team to see you know what we're gonna take our quarterback and future yeah the past could very easily trade up you know you know it Belichick is and I'm sure they have a bank loan to fix so I know that gets your dolphins okay I mean if you're are you gonna get nervous are you going to pull the trigger and move up to three together if you have to or you could just sit at five and am I right if they have to move up to three to get to a I am doing it and I would pull for not to give up a first round pick in order to do so I personally think the dolphins can get it done moving up the two spots without giving up a first round pick because remember they have multiple second round picks they have multiple third round picks I think they can finagle a way to get to three to get the guy they want and I'm hoping to Brian I don't know if this the case are we gonna find out in less than three weeks if the smoke screens are legitimate that maybe the dolphins have some reservations and maybe they have some second doubts and all or we gonna see the dolphins get the guy that we've heard is been destined for that franchise for the better part of two years I would trade up to three to go get to it if I was still right now I trade up to three and it's guaranteed he's mine I'm doing it because I'm a lot of with the black and I am not in love with Justin Herbert I'm not that Justin Herbert looks the part durability he's got arm strength he's got it mobility he's got it prototype of a quarterback he's got it but I need a quarterback with it I need a guy who's gonna look my other plays in the huddle in the eye and be like Hey fellas I got you I can have a guy who's being questioned for his leadership I can't have a passive we I need alpha male leading my team that would be my advice to any team that's taking a quarterback you don't you want to play it safe with quarterback now it may turn out that harbor skills all that great that he can translate and he's going to lead and he's going to be great I for one would go with the guy I saw inspire to what inspired Alabama that's a guy one of my team let's sit down to Charlotte North Carolina don is up next these on CBS sports radio which haven't done yeah J. J. thanks for taking my call this the first time I've really heard you guys good show going on I just got out of that just came in from that New York at the south that's what we call it here in Charlotte read that him Duncan from North Carolina and I picked him as the greatest player I I mean for for those three I agree with what you just said and that one word thank you and then I'll be listening to yet we do need a new quarterback down here in the next year to we we have teddy Bridgewater I'm not saying nothing about teddy Bridgewater candy is gone but yes we I'll be listening to yep we we believe that great time quarterback here in Charlotte thank you it's gonna be interesting task for the Panthers don and listen I think teddy Bridgewater is a fine serviceable quarterback I don't think he's ever going to be a star quarterback and I I just don't see the talent I don't see the skill set I think he is a you know war collect store and only I Carolina down the road we'll think about a different player at that position but in Joe Brady system we saw a job or was able del that's what Marrone Joe Brady gonna look to recreate can they have that success eight five five two one two for CBS eight five five two one two four two two seven as the hall of fame class twenty twenty unveiled best career of the three Colby Dunkin going out we got a lot more and that will transition get to some NFL draft stuff would you move up and go the distance if you the dolphins take the two first round picks you acquired maybe add a little more than a pot and make a move for Joe borrow is that some you would think about we got a lot more now.

North Jersey played guys like Nicholas and Sean Garrett like while those measures were favorable for high school I definitely saw that can be with those guys'll get into college incredible actually. I grew up huge giants. Fan like season tickets once every game through probably probably like twenty ten of but that'd be credit whether my brothers with the jet so so that'd be awesome to the player. I studied as a young player was Alex when I first got to temple coaches can put the browns went out. Matinees are still around and found that he was an awesome player to watch it and learning. I think centre especially more significant differences to make calls of it as soon most senior. Got The same thing whereas the center is getting everybody line. And then not having your snap handwrite away. Essentially through that verse half a second understanding the left or the right. If you're a lefty so I'd say that those are almost simultaneously. You're going to snap it and shoot the left a lot of times though Tel de Lineman. No that that you just have left available slow go after so a lot of it's just about Jello ball and giving yourself that space so you can recover it. The giants just hire Joe Judge as their head coach at his introductory press conference. He talked about when he was going to hire coaches wanted teachers. He said I want guys who could teach me how to make the best peanut butter and Jelly Sandwich in the world. So make me peanut butter and Jelly. Okay sounds good so tell me how to make so okay so tell me how to make a peanut butter and jealous or the ultimate the best peanut butter and Jelly Sandwich? So first thing I like to do is I got to White bread that I have opened up walked and I. I love Strawberry Jam so I make sure that there's a good. I'd say a good amount of strawberry jelly with a even spread like not too much not too little so you get a good sweet taste and then I also prefer a chunky peanut butter on the other white Visit Bread and spread that Open I don't like I'm not too much of a peanut butter guy so I just want a little bit of hint of it also like the chunking Senate so you have more did you. And then before you fold them. I like bananas so I just sliced them up and Evenly put the put them throughout the peanut butter side and now flip it butter. Jelly and there you go. That's the banana. That's that's that's the secret ingredient for me that he's meeting. I mean I you gotTa get good bread What are you going to get? My favorite is multi grain. And you gotta get go peanut butter some real peanut butter and me person. Crunchy your crunchy or smooth. I'm I'm big smooth guy or I don't like too much Kanji but yeah you peanut butter and You know I always put the peanut butter on the bread and I was loaded up with the peanut butter. And I'm I'm kind of with that so I got to spread it perfectly and then the other piece of rather yours gotta get good Jelly and I'm a big strawberry jelly guy all perfect but like that that kind of the old fashioned strawberry jam and with the yeah. Yeah and you know. You spread that with the piece of bread. You don't put as much as a peanut butter. We've put a decent money. Goes pretty evenly like the peanut butter. And then you put them together. Cluster no crust. Oh crust all the way or or a giants.

"I think there's kind of two ways this could happen. Perhaps Washington and or Detroit could trade out. The giants have a reputation of just not being willing to trade down two years ago. The jets basically flat out said they never even bothered calling the giants about the second overall. Pick because they knew they weren't going to want to make a deal and instead they traded with the Indianapolis Colts for the third overall pick which they used for Sam Darnold. The colts wound up. Getting three second round picks out of it and still being able to get quick Nelson. Perhaps one of the lessons the giants have learned over. The last few years is that they need to be more willing to move down and potentially maximize the value of that pick but but maybe teams might not be might not have realized the giants have learned that lesson yet and maybe Washington and or Detroit will trade down. That could possibly put chase young. And or Andrew Thomas back in play for the giants at fourth overall. which would be? I think. Incredible the the other option is if those two teams stay themselves. There's the possibility the giants could trae down. And maybe Miami would WANNA move up to secure talk to a or just in Herbert or perhaps a team like the Jaguars or at this point. Who knows? Maybe the raiders. They've got a you know what I'm GonNa use this line again. They've got murdered all for a head coach. Who knows what they're thinking? They just moved Vegas. Roll the dice. Yep maybe they hey could be interested in moving up. Both of those teams have multiple first round picks. So there are there. Are Some really intriguing options there for the giants. If they you do let the rest of the League know that they are open to moving down. I can almost guarantee from all those teams that we discussed and some of them that we didn't even point out. The teams are going to fall in love with certain quarterbacks in the minute that some of them start to go they're going to do whatever they can to take their guy. It goes right back to what happened last year and the giants took Tena Jones earlier than most people would have expected and that was simply because Dave cattleman was in love with him as a prospect. He really wanted to do it every could and and he wasn't going to risk waiting around to take him because he knew other teams might potentially be interested so because teams are going to be falling in love with quarterback prospects. It is a situation that the giants had to be taking advantage of it. Like I was GonNa say I can completely guarantee that someone is going wing to trade up within the top five because in any draft like this. There's always going to be a run quarterback at some point someone is going to try and get themselves into a position Shen to take a guy that is gonna be their franchise quarterback because they're tired of playing around at the position and they want to secure their future and that everything that we're just we're saying now is that it puts the giant really good situation where they could potentially have multiple first round picks this year or multiple first round picks down the line which will ultimately help create future success in developed. This young team. That has a number of holes an that I think would be almost the ideal scenario other than your pie in the sky chase young falling to them which is far as I'm concerned. He is still bill the prize for any team. That doesn't need a quarterback. He is still the prize in this draft but if the giants could get multiple first round picks maybe get third round. Pick back in an extra pick next year. He even if a guy even if Andrew Thomas is there there are potentially three. Ot ones in this draft draft new can make an argument for Andrew Thomas Tristan words or generic wills to all be the number one tackle if the giants could get extra draft capital capital N.. That guy that would be really just an incredible start to their draft and I give them the talent infusion fusion that they desperately need in the other thing too is that if the giants trade back a few picks potentially In they're still in the top ten with a team that is desperately to to move up and get their get their guy. They're gonNA quarterbacks taken in those early pick so somebody could still follow them if they move back they they could still end up with getting Andrew Thomas at five if the dolphins WANNA move up to four They could be in a position to still get those guys but it just take advantage of the the situation and not be overly worried about maybe of missing out on an overt superstar talent but instead of trying to get multiple talented top ten quality. Polity guys in either this draft or in multiple drafts going forward. We're going to have to kind of monitor and see what happens with the draft stock of some of these second around graded guys like Jacob. BEASON Nate Stanley. Those guys where they stand and if if they'll maybe slide themselves into the first round that could open opened things up for some more competition for a teams. That are desperate for a quarterback. "In Jacksonville for the annual tussle between Georgia and Florida Bill rosinsky, David Norian Fitzsimmons on the sideline John Medani producing this afternoon. Bob lights, our engineer Kirk McCartney are spotted Kinkaid in our statistician. Glad you're with us. Florida's got the ball thirty one moving right to left. They trail Georgia ten seven with ninety six to go in the first half. David I a sensor shift in momentum in this game after the bad start by Florida's offense during this thing that huge turnaround in Florida gets off to a horrible start. Let's start. Rushing loss in this game a year ago. Forty two two seven put the ball on the ground throwing interceptions that they've righted themselves in a hurry. Franks out of the gun Pearson. Running back takes the handoff trying to turn it outside. Right. Nowhere to go. One yard Gideon peers freshman out of Bainbridge, Georgia. The second down coming up. Nine yards to go for a Florida First down, Kirby smart. You've got to be concerned. We've lost Ben Cleveland. He wasn't even available. We made the trip that he's not available to play. You're starting right guard. You lose possibly the best offer to tackle in college football. Early in the second quarter and Andrew Thomas and the BULLDOGS having a lot of trouble moving the football on office. Second down. Here comes planted a lot. There's a pitch to the running back and cutting back right at the thirty five to forty good run by peers that's the first down by a yard that took a while to develop and Franks finally decided to pitch a good move. And it's going to be third down and warned quarterback run game. Whether it's own read, whether it's option they really liked the feature fully Franks and others on the offense in as many as five players will see direct snaps, but it's classic. Dan Mullen, v loves to pick up the extra blocker the angles game you help your offensive line. And it's been a bit of a surprise early in this game the way that Florida's moved it on the Georgia defensive front substitution here by Florida five on the play clock third and one from their own forty and I think they're going to burn a time out and they do really late. I remember ten seconds left. On the play clock when they send somebody from the sideline. There were a man short. But they decided to call a timeout. So we'll pause again, seven forty one to go first half. Georgia town, Florida seven Bill rosinsky David Norrie in the booth down on that sidelines. Check in with you on that very thing. You guys talking when it comes to Philippi, Franks cooker, Dan Mullen, head coach on our podcast of a couple of weeks ago. We asked him about that very thing and having a dual threat quarterback in a moment told us, look Emory Jones is going to be special needs a highly recruited guide heck of an athlete and a lot of fans asked me why we don't play him in. My answer is always simple. You don't just throw a guy in there because you big time recruit and a great athlete, and we'll be hey can be fine. It's not that simple. The thing. People don't realize about police say he is a great athlete. He just doesn't always use his ability to run just the sake of running. I keep telling them. We don't need a great running quarterback. It's what I always tell all of my guys. It's great. If you're an awesome runner. But more importantly, I need you to be a willing runner like guys who just talking. About make the defense account for you. And if you have that winning factor that is willing to get a top yard, not just the big play. But a top yard. That's all we need and Felipe a Franks has that very thing known David here at Emory Jones. Really, isn't there second-stringer Philippi Franks? Happened to go down Kyle Trask dick six five two hundred and thirty five Pounder pocket passer would be the guy that would be the long long-term starter at least initially, but they've got a nice little package family Jones where it's been a lot of speculation that the odds are Emory Jones Romi play in four games. They want to save his year. He's only played in the opener coming into this afternoon's game. So this is game. Number two. They've got a nice package foreign he can't handle the entire offense and Bill, you know, we've already seen it. We did the Auburn at Mississippi State game three or four weeks ago in starkville. We did Mississippi State at LSU last weekend. Nick FitzGerald, the best rushing quarterback statistically in the history of this story conference, the SEC and his head coach. And the guy that drew it up the guy that designed it and really got Nick FitzGerald into the position where he could pass Tim tebow on the SEC quarterback Ron chart, Dan Mullen, and we're seeing a lot of it here. This afternoon in terms of its quarterback run design and God forbid, he gets a elite operates in line in front of a quarterback. This is a very tough offense to stop. Here we go third third down one four to moving right to left at their own forty yard line. Frank shotgun. And he's gonna keep it himself going right up through center. That's going to be an easy I down or the last time. He carried the football by himself went over the top from a yard out for the touchdown. We've got Florida on the board. That's a soon. Pretty easy forward. Pushed to the forty-three all spread out a couple of wide receivers. He doesn't even care to line up of running back alongside sleep eight francs in the backfield. You just says, hey, quarterback run common. Go ahead and try to stop it. Gators moving right to left at their forty three ball near left cash is French part Saudis. Call high snap keeps down. Handoff. Tears running. Right and nowhere to run your stopped. No game will be second down and tend to go for Florida. Take crowder. Gonna stop for Georgia. This is a team by committee. They've had five two hundred yard rushing games team including two fifteen in the win over LSU. But no back had had over one hundred yards in a game. Until that Vanderbilt game. We mentioned the p Ryan ran for twenty one and Scarlett one thirteen don't forget this one of the deepest running back groups in the country in the league Davis is down. He's a home run hitter special Damian. True freshman, also a guy that can take the distance needs a number three back. Tony the wide receiver in motion in front of the quarterback. Now, he takes a little flip pass out in the far, right flat. Iran before Tyson Campbell knocks him out of bounds at the forty nine yard line. That's a gain of six on second down and ten so now third down four coming up for Florida of six twenty to go in the first half and the BULLDOGS leave the Gators tend to Savak this offensive line for the Gators a really been sharp here in the first half. They taken the battle to George along. The line of scrimmage, and it's not been the best tackling gain thus far by Georgia at both levels. Linebacker and secondary Florida four of six and third down conversions and another time out this time by the Georgia BULLDOGS. So they wanna talk it over and David this was reading a lot of the stuff that the Georgia people had to say about the LSU loss. And I think you pointed out early in the game on your comments that that was going to be a game decided in the trenches. They got beat up by LSU, they got manhandled and that defense is on the field for a long time. And they talked about it coming into this game this week. This team is trying to just develop more defensive players. They lost so many guys to the National Football League in the off season. They're missing on my shirt one two three four. They're missing six frontline men who have not dressed for this. They got a couple of guys banged up to Quan Hopkins muscle and David Marshall or hurt that just get. Devante Wyatt back into this game. They're not deep and if they're on the field long time as we saw with LSU, they get worn out this defensive front really was an embarrassment of riches that with you, and I wouldn't necessarily top shelf players, but just quality depth and experience coming off a year where they tested Alabama at just came within a player to winter national title. But you're right Bill lot injuries at David Marshall still not being able to return with the foot injury. And. You know? Ron talked about it leading up to the game a week ago gets Mississippi State and coming off the loss down the swamp against Florida. And he was very candidate said we lost a physical battle upfront against the Gators. And. You know in that game, Georgia visited Baton Rouge. LSU was able to turn that around. And they ran all over Georgia defense two hundred seventy five yards rushing, Florida third down four just shy of midfield moving right to left Franks out of a gun to receivers. Right. Three nearside left. Look and left for the toss. They're goes downfield incomplete pass intended for the tight end moral Stevens, and it will be fourth down. I would assume the punting unit is gonna come on here. You're right at midfield. You're in a close game. Five fifty six to go in the half down three three pay. Frank's got the ball out quickly. And he had his tight end open. Even though he was in a crowd. But look like France was a little frustrated. He wanted the tight end to kind of gear it down settle into the little boy Darren he continued to ease his way up feel the ball was slightly under throwing Franks was frustrated with the tight end. There's plenty today for Tommy Thompson from right to left and back deep because of the injury to Hartman is Terry Godwin. He says let it go hits. The fifteen and that takes a Florida bounce to the far sideline. They're going to Mark it out at the eleven yard line. And that's where Georgia will take over with five forty seven to go in the first half. That was a forty yard punt they'll have it. First and ten BULLDOGS lead ten seventy if you're just joining us. Nice dry for Georgia to start the game it stalled in the red zone. They got a field goal. Next possession, Florida had it coughed it up. And that's when Georgia took advantage. Mark downfield and Jake Frahm had Jeremiah Hollmann with a touchdown pass since then Georgia hasn't done a whole heck of a lot of anything with the football Holyfield will be the running back. They're moving left to right, red jerseys pants helmets white numerals Holyfield with the call. Nice whole off left guard across the fifteen sixteen yard line soon. Jay McWilliams, I'm the stop gain of five second in the five, and he is the real deal. And there was nice to see the real deal vendor. Holyfield biggest picks on game day today. I liked the real deal. Assessment of this football game. He said the BULLDOGS gotta take the football and run it down their throat. Gators throats, but it hasn't turned out that way Gators moved to really effectively on the opening drive as you said Bill, but they have not many many yards since I jet sweep around the near riot side. They're getting into the James Cook. Who is a running back came in motion from farside the near Joseph chases them down. And let's see what are they gonna Mark. This measure to see if this is a first down to get to the twenty one yard line referee now lepers saying, okay, let's stop the clock. See if this is the first down the change are on the far side field. So they're going to have to come across to the near side to see if this was good enough for first down. Jim Chaney offered to coordinator for Georgia. You know, you'll be talking to Kirby smart head coach on the headsets, but they're going to have to get a little bit. More liberal Jake Frahm on rundowns allow him to take some shots down the field because right now. God grant into the effects of coordinator for Florida. He is making sure structurally Georgia's not able to get through running the ball on first down. And the only way that Jordan is gonna create. Somapala -tunities in the run game is to play action on first down in challenges secondary for Florida. It makes it a lot more difficult. When you're missing your your star offensive left tackle, Andy Thomas who went down earlier in the scorer. And you're also missing Ben Cleveland, you're starting right guard, but Jake Frahm this is a big part of trusting your quarterback. They're going to have to allow him to take some shots on rundown..

"He can take take his team to a national title game. And let's remember he was a play away from winning Florida won the toss they've deferred. Georgia will get the ball to start our game. Now, you'll get this Florida offense. They have started the same eleven people except for the opening series in their first game. They have started eleven guys and they have not been replaced. That's how injury-free they are not so much for Georgia. They've got some issues banged up players for more on that. This game will be decided in the trenches down the infant Simmons. Bill bad news for the Georgia BULLDOGS. Ben Cleveland, they're starting right guard will not be available today. Still dealing with that left fibia injury. He is out the freshman came maze gets to start at right guard. They do get some good news though, at left tackle, Andrew Thomas has been well as it was described to me by off off a line coach STAN Pittman was back against teams like LSU, but he wasn't back with that by week. He's back this huge. The Georgia BULLDOGS him being host to one hundred percent belt Tucker the defensive coordinator, and I asked him to describe this game. He said this. These are the ones you come out of the tunnel. You take a mental snapshot is just different is just special as far as pre-game haircut anymore, boys. The blue angels fluent so low. Gave me one. What a great site that was right after our national anthem, David. How does this game play out today? Amazing that we've got fourteen coming in as a top ten team. Remember this last year, we covered it built. It was forty two to not the Georgia late in the ball game. What do they need to do to be in this game as a top ten team late this afternoon? Well, number one got to be creative. And and Ian matching it they got to be really good on first down keep fully pay Franks out of third long. And number two. They've got to find a way to get Jake Brahm to third long situations. We saw what happened to Jake from a couple of weeks ago down at LSU. We really struggled and obvious passed out. That's what the Florida Gators need to do in this ball game. Mcpherson kickoff for Florida from left the ride high end over end hard going gonna let it go through the end zone..
USC faces Stanford in first big test
"Football. We have a big SEC affair today. With Georgia comes in the top five South Carolina's ranked for the first time in a good while they've got home field. People are excited. They're trying to show they belong in for George. It's their first major test the first major test and keep this in mind. There are only two matchups this weekend where we get ranked teams. This is one of them with number three Georgia number twenty four South Carolina. Here's a fascinating aspect about. South. Carolina will must champ in a second. Go round member. Things did not work out. Well at Florida at South Carolina. He won nine. Games last year. And so they are moving back in the right direction. This Georgia team. The the outlook has been there is talented as anybody in the country, but they're young defensively. And so if you're going to catch them you want to catch them early on in the season because once he's freshman get about six or seven games underneath their belt. They're going to be pretty good. That's there is a reason though the day is basically installed Georgia as a ten point favorite South Carolina skill players deebo Samuel at wide receiver is one of the best players in the country. But this is all about size and Kirby smart during his introductory press conference at Georgia talked about getting bigger bigger across the board, and especially bigger on the offensive line that has happened for Georgia the size of their starting off. It's of line. Matt Andrew Thomas six six three twenty Solomon, Kinley six four three thirty five there other guard. Ben Cleveland, six six three thirty five in there. Right. Tackle can block out. The sun is Ahah Wilson six seven three hundred and forty pounds, Georgia ran the ball. Well last year average two hundred sixty six yards a game. They went for two Eighty-three last week. That's what they're going to do. They're going to look to run the ball down, South Carolina. Wrote put it all on their running game and their offense and hopefully ride that to victory until this defense gets up to speed with
