"This is the Pony Express. Here's Andrew Phillip Pony. That's right. Imagine if People in my shoes had to pay. $5 fee every time, they said, moving day at the Masters. This afternoon. Imagine if you were the banker on that, like a game of monopoly, And that was the property you owned. Every time somebody said moving day you got a $5 royalty, you'd be rich. By six Eastern three Pacific. If you're going to hear it all day. A three of the Masters. That's what they call it. Although it's been a tournament where there have not been a lot of come come back stories lately. Golfers at the top of the leaderboard through two rounds are usually the ones who win it. That's where we are. Today is the leaders are on the course. CBS TV coverage is just kicked in, finally. Their fans on the course I'm not going to call him patrons. I just don't Leaving that Masters can Have all these Hoity toity. Names for Things and I'm not going to use their vocabulary or glossary of terms. That's alright. Still love the master's still happy to have a golf tournament like this to talk about today. The Pony Express, CBS Sports Radio. Sirius XM Channel 206 all our satellite subscribers. You can only get masters coverage on satellite in terms of live radio play by play, So for a lot of you You're going to lean on a show like this to get live updates today we've got Erica Herskowitz. The bottom of every hour. She'll give you a little late. The latest leaderboard check. I've got the tournament on now in front of me. Showing Justin Rose highlights from early on here. And he's off to a heck of a start. He's birdied his first two holes. So the exact opposite of what he did yesterday, where he got off to a wretched star and then had to rarely on the back nine. He's been awesome. On the back nine at this tournament holes eight through 18. He's 12 under For two rounds, and so he's got a three shot lead. Listening, no doubt on CBS sports app streaming at CBS Sports radio dot com. The brand New Odyssey APP Odyssey spelled eau de A c Y So we're gonna take you through the masters here. Still early enough. Where working, we can make predictions and Discuss who we think is going to win. And why the guys who will falter and take a step back today. The golfers they're gonna take Ah, big leap forward. Pleased right now to be joined by PGA Tour insider. He's about as good as it gets on the game of golf. You can follow him on Twitter at Mr Rogers 99. He's obsessed with golf. He's no doubt glued to his TV keeping track on the Masters. Probably would be there if it wasn't for all the restrictions on travel and everything else. I'm talking about camera jurors who's back with us here on the Pony Express, CBS Sports Radio Cam. Who do you like to win today and wife? Tomorrow? Yes. Great to be with you. As always. The man I love going against the grain. They're calling on fans rather than patrons. But the solid power move by you. I love it. Hey, it's quite a leaderboard. I mean, obviously, Justin Rose has been going through quite a week. So far. Just the elite ball striking even on that Thursday. I mean, you want to talk about absolutely crushing the ball with his irons and everybody else was just trying to survive. So Rose has been on a different planet. So far, you have to think he is in The pole position if you will to win, But man I really like during speed right now. I know he's four back, but there's still plenty of holes left to be played here on this. Shall we say here? It is moving day, right? But we have a full slate of polls tomorrow. And this is of course, obviously that Jordan speed loves to play and he's coming in with fantastic form. Just winning the Valero Texas Open. So if I'm throwing some cast down, Andrew, give me a little Jordan speed right now. Wow. I feel the exact opposite. Okay. And the reason why you say he loves to play there. I I wonder. I really wonder if he's there and in contention on Sunday How much he's going to be haunted by 2016. You know, it's a great point because Dustin Johnson, many said, was haunted by that 2010 PGA Championship member, the bunker situation and then many championships. After that, you know, he took the lot. I believe we talked about this. Not too long ago, Andrew So it's a great point and something that we're definitely going to have to monitor. But you can't deny at least in my opinion. The recent form that Jordan speak has his consistent iron game, which is something we have not seen truly since 2017 when he won at Brookdale at the Open championship. That was his last win until Last week, right? That British Open window? Absolutely. Absolutely. So you could say he's coming in with hot fire because he's got a slew of top 15 finishes here in the 2021 calendar year, and obviously that victory there at Valero, Texas Open. But it is a good point about tomorrow. We sure should monitor Amen Corner with Jordan speeds, especially if you know he peels ahead by the end of the day or something like that. Because, boy, you gotta wonder if that you know, mental edge. There isn't absolutely I think it'll be even harder on him. If he's in the lead, I think if all eyes are on him It'll be harder to get through that, if maybe he's a few strokes back, and it doesn't feel like he's his golf tournament to lose that might free him up a little bit. But I think you know the winning winning down in Texas is home state and coming and winning the Masters. It's completely different animal, and he knows that legacies are defined. Careers are made by these events and Just a totally different feel coming to Augusta now and having people think all right. This is his redemption. This is his comeback story. Well, you know, you said you think The irons have been the big difference for him, Cam. You think that's where Jordan speeds game? Has improved and rebounded. It is with the iron play more than anything else, huh? 100% yet because when you find your iron game that is probably outside of your driver, the stickiest part of your game that can carry over weekend and weak out. You know how they say in football. Packer defense travel With your defense. You travel with your iron game as well. And you know, Jordan. Peace is not a good driver of the golf ball. And there's a reason why he plays well at Augusta National, because the rough is not penal at all. You could spray it a little bit. You can get away with it. And a duster requires this artist like approach, especially when you're around the greens and Jordan. Speed is a field player. He's an artist. He's a magician in some senses. But when you tack on the fact that he's playing so well with his iron, that's why he's winning again. Right? It's that extra ingredient. So that's that's why I like Justin Thomas so much the way that you just described The type of player that you think winds at the Masters. That sounds a lot like Justin Thomas to me, Cam. 100%, perhaps the best iron player in the world right now, outside of Colin Morikawa obviously won the Players championship, and many were saying that was a Hogan asked display of ball striking, and Justin Thomas. Honestly, I didn't give him a lot of good feeling going into this week because he was history. Yes. Well, you know, tried. It was the on Lee player ever to win the players Championship and the Master's within the same year. Oh, I didn't know that. Okay, fighting that history there. But you know, in golf, Andrew, you kind of have to take a stand on the favorite. Who's gonna miss the cut. Who's going to finish P. 40, who's gonna be in contention? And because it's such a volatile game exhibit A is Brooks is not here for the weekend. Dustin is not here for the weekend, and yet you have JT and speed. Inside the top five months now, so obviously my stand on J T ended up being wrong..

Dustin Johnson Colin Morikawa Erica Herskowitz Justin Rose Justin Thomas Andrew $5 Jordan Andrew Phillip Pony 12 Tomorrow Rose 2016 100% British Open Augusta Brookdale Sunday tomorrow J T

"The team. Full time member of the team is a kicker and not just someone out there who in an emergency situation You were desperate, You said this is this is the best of both worlds. She can kick and we're going to do something that's like a pioneer feel good story in 2020, which we all need. If you're gonna be on that I was watching. Was watching Texas Tech. Oklahoma State earlier Oklahoma State kicked the ball to Texas Tech. And The kicker had to make a play for Oklahoma State. To prevent Texas Tech. I'm taking the ball on returning it for a touchdown. And so my thing is If there's a female kicker out there This is just me talking. How do you treat her like She's just another player, and that's what they should want. That's what you'd want. I've played games. I've no shame in saying this. I've played pickup basketball games. Where there absolutely was a woman on the court who is a better player than me? I played a pick up game against against someone who play in the WN Ba Right? And you don't back down from that person. But you know, you're also not, you know, Bill Lann beer and throwing high elbows And you know the things you might do. When tempers flare and you get upset and you're playing with a bunch. You know when you're playing in a normal game. Me personally in that situation. I wasn't you know, timid or shy, but I knew like I can't that is off limits in a game like this. It is it's inappropriate. And so football the Alta the gladiatorial game that it is the physical violent game that it is. Would not sit. I know every player that's out there with a helmet on in a jersey and it is the same, although we give quarterbacks special protections, and we do give special team players certain protections. We don't base that on their size. We don't base that on their gender. And just if there was a return situation like the one I just described in the Oklahoma State Texas Tech game, it would not make me Would not seem right. It would not look right to me to see a guy, stiff arm a woman or truck, a woman on his way to the end zone to score a touchdown. I would not want I don't I would not want to see that. So that to me is the catch 22 of something like this. Is that there probably are a lot of qualified women out there. That could line up and knock down. You know they can either kick or punt. And in the power five. I don't doubt that for a second. I think there's all kinds of women out there. There may be mostly trained right now a soccer players, but if they dedicated themselves to be kickers and punters, I'm sure You'd have more than Sarah Fuller. You people out there that were absolutely qualified to kick field goals. Make extra points point all those things. But if we're going to call and you know, punters and kickers, I know kickers and punters. My best friend's here in Pittsburgh for a long time was the guy that put it in the NFL one and one Super Bowls. And he would get upset when people said that he wasn't a football player when other players when other ex players would say not punters aren't players So they take more than just the kicking and punting part of their job seriously. And I just wonder, how could you In good conscious if you have if Vanderbilt today didn't do You know, a kickoff that was set up for no return. If she actually booted it deep. Even if she's trained to play football, not soccer. She boots it deep, and there's a returned. Does anybody want to see a woman get pancake blocked? I don't That's somebody's daughter. I would. I would not want to see that. And so that's the thing like I read this Sarah Fuller quote. And it is. It should serve as an inspiration and a motivation to women, not just in football but across sports and really not even limited to just sports. But I openly and wondering in questioning. Can you take it any further than what we saw today? Get a team in the SEC actually have a full time kicker. Full time female kicker. And How would you feel if your answer is well? Sure. How does that hit you? Or sit with you That like, okay with that comes everything else We expect out of football players tackling Players trying to block Her knock her down. Obviously not dirty place where she gets blindsided, But you know what I mean. So I wonder. What happened today? In Colombia's in Columbia, Missouri, was great. But can you go any further than this? 855 to 1 to four CBS 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. I'd love to get some opinions and on this if people agree with me I don't think we could see a full time feel male female kicker. Unless the rules of football change for all kickers and punters and they were basically putting a bubble and whether you're male or female, Bigger, small like you weren't really Out there to do anything but kick and punt. If you treat him like football players, I don't see how we could have a female kicker upon her. I'm a full time basis now that they can't make kicks they can other They can't put the ball 40 50 yards. They can But Tackling women blocking women stiff arming women, trucking women are mean How does that sit with you? "Doing this twitch thing, and I went well, I got to get in on this. I don't know what it is. I got to do it. And so I got a twitch, But I don't know. Like, what do I do? I do. I can I link it up to the TV. And then you could see me playing. Is that what it is? House? It worked. Yes, I don't. I honestly don't know how it works. But the technology is where there'll be a camera on you watching your reaction. But also the fans were watching the actual game to see what you're reacting to. Oh, they don't want to see you throw bad pick. When you fumble at the goal line, they can't really want to see me. What? Oh, that's that's most of the fun. They want to watch me play video games and not real life Can that's That's what twitches man? No one wants to watch. You watch video games. You want to see other people's faces and the reactions? What? Playing the video game that they're playing? Really? Yeah. People want to see a freaking out. Losing your mind throwing controllers. Cursing up a storm. Maybe celebrated things were going well, celebrating. Maybe you know, you can showboat a little bit, you know, talking trash to dabble in a digital world. I kid? I mean, I barely get time enough as it is. Ah, I'm still the guy and I can't be the only person who does this. College football's on right now. I'm gonna make this mention I'm still never going to get the hammer you for your take your terrible take on Halloween, Nicky. Accurate IQ I Ah, every now and then I get out the video games. And I play my dynasty and my dynasty Last year was Akron. And what First offense started a ball state that I want the army then I want the Akron is the head coach. And got hammered by Ohio State Week one and then went on to one when the godaddy dot com bowl and everything and it was great. And then I went through that coaching carousel, and I got George and I went well, here I am. I actually followed George on Twitter. Actually follow and pay more attention to Georgia football than I ever have before. Just because I used them in my dynasty and I set on social media earlier this week, I said I can't be the only person who does that immediately. People got it. No. Do the same thing. I got Texas I do the same thing. Hey, I'm on my third year of my dynasty with Arkansas State and I still do the same thing. I follow Arkansas state. I couldn't believe it. Because I I love I love the football games so much. You're gonna think this is nuts. Lives bought me a P s four. And I went and I had it for like a year and I didn't play that much like I got mad and like a man's okay. I went. I traded it in for PS three knowing I was going to one of the record stores knowing that I was going to get the boots put to me. I went in knowing this. I didn't put it on Facebook marketplace. Don't even marketplace was around back then. I didn't put it on Facebook marketplace input on Craigslist. I went and traded it in and got football just so I could play football. That's how committed I am to football. I love it. I'm still stuck in the stone age. I still play. But I play on a P s to the A O. C. A 10 with Brian, Iraq poet Texas and it is it's a blast. So right after today show 2 P.m. Eastern, While pony I will turn on pony on the radio dot com app and listen to CBS Sports Radio and while Pony is doing his show, and I'm listening, Andrew Phillip Pony Ken Carmen in the Georgia Bulldogs and their first home game at Sanford Stadium, Where we will welcome in. Uh Gah. We will be taking on the Clemson Tigers. Davos, Sweeney, who are so for some odd reason, one and one I have no scouting report in which you tell anybody 855 to 1 to four. CBS. We move on coming up here in a bit. I actually found out at the end of the show Last week. I wondered about Bill Belichick shirt. I have a theory about Bill Belichick shirt I'm going to share with everybody. 1 40. PM Eastern. I want to talk to Twins fans. I want to talk to Falcons fans. Want to give you a heart to heart. There's an article in the Was this the athletic Hickey? I think this was yes. In the athletic There was an article in the athletic About Fans, not even wanting to be close. Twins have lost an obscene amount of games in a row in the postseason, some like 18, or something like that 18 consecutive postseason losses. And the Falcons are the Falcons, and we all know 28 to 3. We all know what happened after that, and the Falcons have really never been the same. They have been in a multiple year. Malays that should probably have cost in, quit his job last year. I don't like calling for guys to be fired, but really should have called for his job last year because At first, you would think Well, Dan Quinn's been there and they might have a leg up over one of these other teams. Okay, But is it worse than starting on three? Which you started out anyway? So maybe you needed a new coach there. Maybe you need a new voice that's going in there. I don't like advocating for jobs to be taken away from coaches. I think it's about legacy. I don't think it's about money. But I want to talk personally. That's a different conversation because I want to talk personally to twins and Falcons fans because the gist of this our athletic article that I have here It's about how that they rather be away. They'd rather be hopeless than be close and have it taken away. Let me talk to you off this ledge and let me talk to you from experience here. I know this hurts. I know that that you saw Matt Ryan play In an incredible moment. And you thought for a moment that that this was going to be his anointment that he was going to be right there at the tippy top of NFL quarterbacks, and he was going to be great. And then that was taken away from him, whether it was Shannon and whether it was self whether it Hey, that's just New England baby. One way or the other. That's what it wass and for Twins fans. The people of the fine people listening up to us and listening to us up in Minnesota. I feel for you. I really do 18 in a row is a hell of a number that crosses a lot of different generations. That crosses a lot of different years. I know that sorry. I wish I could help you out on that. I think you'd rather have that. Then. Be hopeless. There's so many different little sayings better to a loved and lost and did not love it all. It's better to be close. It's better to be there. I'm just going to tell you what it's like on the other side of the ledger. Because when you have teams like the twins like the Falcons If your team gets close. And you are a competitive team. But you just don't get over that hump. I know it hurts. For that moment. It hurts. What you do, though, is you create legends. Cause I have to personal experiences here that I could just share with you. When you're bad for a long time when there's hopelessness there. You looms fans, you lose in a generation of fans, and for that matter, it becomes harder in your home area to make your Children fans of those teams. Children, 99% of them..

Cement BA Stop Milwaukee Up on Orlando by 12 Right now in the first of three games today. Um Russell Westbrook returns Houston in Oklahoma City tonight at Sir, He's tied it too, so that should be good theater really should be. Rockets have Westbrook back in this game five and we'll see how it plays out with The thunder. And in Portland and the Lakers. Of course, Lillard not going to play with a sprained knee, So we assume that that series is over, as everyone thought it might be before it started with the exception of, Of course, those people that think Lillard walks on water and who could blame him? When Lillard's healthy a times it does feel like he can walk on water, so it has been Ahh. Pleasure to watch him break out and become, you know, move up. The way Luca Don church has moved up in people's minds and sort of You know? Assent to his rightful Spot in terms of How people think about him and how they talk about. They're sort of lower echelon guys. That now, aren't I? You know they were on the cusp. And now they are They are among the elite. And both Lillard and Vantage You know, it's a different world now for them that it was tomorrow by the way, Boston and Toronto Game one of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Game six tomorrow between the Clippers and Dallas Poor Zynga's ruled out for the rest of the Siri's. And Game six with Utah leading 32. Denver, Utah tomorrow as well. So n ba back at it. We assume they're going to continue to play for a while. We have our own opinions, I guess as to whether It's effective to not play games, too. Two. Decide that your form of protest is going to be to not be On the court or the field or the ice. And I guess the MBA at least has Come to the To an agreement. With their League and Earth Players Association. Ah to Have a I don't know, eh? Social Justice Coalition for lack of a better term. That's what they're calling it. With representatives from players, coaches and governors. That's owners that will be focused on a broad range of issues, including Access to voting promoted promoting civic engagement. And advocating for meaningful police and criminal justice reform. Ah! The legal work of players on our network partners to create an include advertising spots in each n BA playoff game dedicated to promoting greater civic engagement. In national and local elections and raising awareness around voter access and opportunities. So On paper. Of course, it all sounds good whether they executed whether they continue with the same fervor and the same. Adrenaline rush that this look this latest Issue has brought them only time will tell. On that, but they are back underway. They are playing again. Tampa Bay, Boston on the ice today that wass a 31 lead now sort of surprising to some people, but no one really doubted. The quality of Tampa in this postseason or the fact that they could do it. So in that sense, you know a lot of people, I guess aren't Ah! Doubting a little bit. But again, that bubble is working well as well. The Ah! Games were going on. And once again, our our scheduled and Being played flyers and Islanders. Tonight, seven o'clock, Eastern time, Golden Knights and Canucks tonight. At 9 45 eastern time. Ah for their Siri's both those Siri's nights and Canucks Flyers Islanders tied at one The Lightning now lead the Bruins three games to one. In their Siri's and the Avalanche stars with Dallas, leading to one play their game for To tomorrow. And that will be at six o'clock eastern. So there you are up to date on the final eight. In the National Hockey League 855 to 124227 as we try to catch you up on some of the stuff that's going on. We gave you the Ah, golf earlier. It's weird to watch the Gulf. And have nobody under par. But that's the kind of golf course it's been, and that's kind of difficulty It's been and we have seen it in the scores throughout the first two days, so no surprise, I guess that we're seeing it on day three, as well, of course, that tournament like most golf tournaments, Four rounds and ends tomorrow. So the final round coverage will be tomorrow afternoon, and we'll see who guts it out. Still a lot of big names near the top. Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy. John Graham. Ah, Dickie Matsuyama, so no lack of star power there, but it will not include Justin Thomas will not include Tiger Woods, both of those guys having tough days and tough tournaments. And unable to really get it turned around. We talk to you about the baseball trade deadline. There isn't much to say there except for what kind of risk do you wantto have? And what What value do you place? On this championship. You know, I mean, that is really the question. What value do you place on this 2020? Championship..

"I know back to the pony express with Andrew Phillip pony. In the last thirty years, there have been four. NBA dynasties. And. Two of them have produce giant television ratings. And now it's looking like to of not the two that really resonated with. America, the nineties bowls and the early two thousand Lakers. If you look at the amount of fan interest in those two teams every time the Lakers played in the finals and Jordan's bowls played in the finals the ratings went crazy now. It's the number two market in America. The number three market in America, which helped with those teams ratings went crazy. They went way down. With San Antonio, when the Spurs would make the NBA finals, even though if you're a basketball purist, you preceded the way that they played their style of basketball, it was never backed up by the ratings. I think at ABC their bigwigs always like had mild heart attacks. When the Spurs would get to the finals over the Lakers. They would hit low points with the Spurs in the finals match ups like San Antonio Detroit, that was that was a well played series but nobody watched and that was the year after the pistons and won the championship. Same for Spurs Cavaliers, which was very one sided, Spurs nets. Nobody watched. So the ratings would go down with the Spurs in the finals. And I think I was trying to figure out with declining ratings, the last couple of years for warriors Cavaliers was it just fatigue over that matchup. Where people bored by the warriors dominance, and how much better they were than Cleveland. It wasn't a fair fight going into those finals. And this year it's, it's hit a new low. It's, it's the lowest NBA finals in more than a decade. And it's with Golden State on the wrong side of things. I, I really believed that one of the most compelling types of sporting events. Are the ones where you feel? You can you can feel the momentum build of an upset, you can feel a team that went into something as presumed favorite as a prohibitive favorite and the tables, turned on them. And that's what we've seen in these NBA finals. And yet, it's still hasn't made a lick of difference. The, the ratings are actually going down game the game and not the opposite. So why is that is it because Toronto's a Canadian based team because they're a boring team darn a lot of household names on that team? Are we just sick of the warriors? Why are we seeing the NBA finals ratings plummet? You're the consumer, you are the people who are in theory. You're the target demo you're the target audience for these games. Why are more and more of you not watching eight five five two one two four CBS that's eight five five two one two four two two seven. You tell me. Here's Alex in South Carolina on CBS sports radio. Hi, alex. Phil tony. So I'm from Greenville, South Carolina, and I'm twenty one. So you know as far as the NBA's concerned as a young person in college. I should be their top priority. You know, on the generation that comes through, but I'll say this, I mean, you know, we haven't gotten sick of the New England Patriots even though they've been an extended period of time, you know, with Tom Brady and Bill chicken. I think the reason why is because the regular season still matters football. Whereas, you know with the NBA I couldn't tell you how many regular season games I watch the NBA because, you know, at the end of the day, we know guys are already mailing. It in guys. We knew the warriors, we're going to be here. Even though the patriots keep making the finals, or you know, the Super Bowl, you know, we don't always know that they're gonna make it. And so at the warriors, and the, the Toronto Raptors I don't think anybody came into this year, thinking, oh Toronto's a lot for the Eastern Conference to get involved with those teams. It's hard to kind of get your head around at least for me is Mr. average sports fan to get my head around team. And then all of a sudden you're at the end. Try to get emotionally invested in it. Sure, yeah. I think there's something to that. And thank you, Alex for for listening..

So what that does that make what they did. Right. Or does that make what they did wrong? That'll kill what they did. I want to see what they do on. The course, I know, but how can you? But how could you root for an individual that? You know is not a good guy that is done. I don't know him. What he did what he did what he did though. I don't enjoy does what he did though. Right. Okay. Okay. So you really guy that the bad guy. Would you would you from today your daughter? Daughter. But I we don't about what you would you would you root for a guy to the like that to date your daughter? We're talking about him playing. I I understand that. Another area. You are you saying, well, it matters. He's a good guy. I don't care. It doesn't. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. But would you root for that's what matters? I I because I enjoy golf game for bad guy. I mean, that's it rooting for guy. Maybe if there's an athlete that's great in high school. And you know what? Hey, look the guy scores fifty points a game for his high school team. I don't care if she'd on girls not if he wants to date my daughter, so bad I like watching a play on the court. The argument about he's great at what he does for the the team that I root for is out of the equation because you're talking about an individual who is a well documented not a good guy. Okay. I don't know how many times I he'd say that. And you still rooting for for what reason there are other guys on the golf course that you could root for over him. Kyle is in Massachusetts with Cal. Hey doing. Yeah. No. I I agree with that. Actually, like all that guy. I think people reform they want greatness. And he's the one the greatness. It's been a while. He's one in ten years. I mean, I'm thinking I'm thinking the closest to be Nicklaus's record. He's the one the winning majors that could be greatness when all said and done. So you want to break that record? I think people do you know, personally. I I don't like group. I wanted to see him break like to your point. I think that's why people like I don't think I think it was wrong. I know joy. I do think you bring up a good point. I know what you're saying. But we also know Tiger Woods is not a good guy. So how can you I I mean in life you root for bad people, regardless of how good they are. Whatever sport you're gonna root for a bad guy. He's not a good guy. It's well documented read the book. Starting out my career, you're meeting legends in the game, you meeting legends people that are just known throughout the industry, and I am working for the Philadelphia Flyers at the time working for my Keenan up advance. Scouting the New Jersey Devils, I think that's why I met Chris more. Well, I don't know. He won't remember it because he didn't remember it. When father Casey took me to meet, Chris, more and more. Didn't remember it later in life. You meet your legends. You meet the guys that are legendary. And it's just you know, sometimes it's just disappointing. We're gonna we're gonna we're gonna listen to more the top of the hour. He he he is so prepped with show prep today. You never know where it's going to go off the rails. You know, it's going to go off the rails. You just don't know where we'll find out and be listening on CBS sports radio. Siriusxm two of six. Mike in Boston jumps on board. Mike, you're on the junky Kate show. Good morning. Hey, good morning. Thanks for taking my call. The problem is I just wanted to bring up something. I haven't heard talked about on that Virginia Auburn game. And I know you don't wanna hear anything brought up on that double dribble. But that was pretty agreed just call. I don't have anything in the game. But I mean that was pretty clear that was ADR Double-trouble. You've got gotta make that call. But the problem the play a made is I don't know why these teams feel like they if they have to give they have to use it. It's like they feel they have to use them. He falls them in the front court. If he'd followed him in the back court, they gotta inbound in the back court, the game's pretty much older if you leave him alone. He's got a pretty much launch from half court. But what he did. He let him step over half court and then follow them which allow them basically to set up a play in the front court with a second and a half to go. I mean game, Mike, I gotta tell you something. And I'll I'll raise my hand here. I've done a three hours and forty five minutes national radio, and I didn't think of that. So I I applaud you that is the truth. That is the I applaud you on them big time. Maybe is it's just like. It seems like a lot of these players. They've been playing basketball their life. If a coach doesn't specifically say something to them. It's like they can't think on their own. You know that play where he got fought at three. I mean is the coach in in the time out saying do not do this of all things do not do. Well, first of all had to go get how did he get that? Look. Well, I had to get that book. That guy's a great shooter. He had to go play. But they I think I can't remember the other game. But that happened in a game. I did they followed the guy shoot a three was terrible. They you just you give them the ability to raise up and shoot at. He's you could've made that shot. Anyway. Now, you hit his leg and let him shoot the free. Mike. Can I tell you how bright you are today? Thank you for your call. Anthony. Mike calls back any week. Mike gets front of the line status. All right. So Mike in Boston gets front of the line status. Because I never thought about that little nuance that if you're gonna foul Fallon the backward be in Boca Raton, joins us IB. Hey, jay. How're you doing well Beijing's up? Well, you know, Kyle guy made the three free throws. Yes. He was like it was the end of practice. I would have wet my pants. They're on the foul line. How many kids honestly Eighty-one percent free throw shooter? How many kids in America drill three? I had made the statement as it was happening. You're gonna make two three were going to. I would have thought the exact same thing two out of three. And I know this I would have soiled myself. I would've I would've hit I would have been lucky. I would have been lucky to hit the rim. Eight toll Tracy. I think it was crazy Wilson at the end that he was I forgot his wording. Exactly was nervous records. I bet. I bet I'd be the same way. I would not felt totally baseball. Baseball question for what's that? Okay. Quickly on the on the Suda junior signing via kunia junior kunia. Sorry about that. Yeah. Right. I should get that. Right. Okay. Okay. Okay. So he had he was making what half a million John five five thirty five or five twenty. So they ripped that off making more right now caress. Yes. Okay. I gotta run run on a kunia juniors from Venezuela. And if I can just tell you. Ronald is a young man what like nineteen twenty years old. And what I would suggest to you is that you you you look at a guy that in his lifetime. He has seen Venezuela. Go from being one of the most lucrative rich countries in the world. To being third world status where people are standing in lines to get rations. It's sort of what socialism will do to you. And if you have family members that are hungry or you have family members that have seen the wealth of their country. Just disappear. "Andrew Phillip pony two to six in the afternoon. 93.7 the fan in Pittsburgh. Find him on Twitter at the pony express. He also hosts middays on Sundays here on CBS sports radio tended to he runs a fantastic show. I'm a big fan of his even though I don't like all his opinions, but he joins us on the show right now. Hello, andrew. House common Watson into this season. Yeah. Living and dying with every game against the Hornets. Not. Well, with this hair with his hair the way, it is. We keep saying someone needs to light, the wick, and when they light the wick then he's really gonna blow up and then off he goes, okay? Of course, you think I'm not watching the cast is that what you're trying to tell me. I don't know. I'm getting inside the mind ten carbon. It's like a mouse of the situation. I'm trying to pry, my cell phones, myself inside with this man is all about and I'm sure if you've seen Tommy boy that about is where it starts and finishes. Hey, can I ask you questions before we take off on Tonio Brown? Why do why do they call you pit Bela's over there? Run during the NFL season pitch Steelers games. And I think I got like six in a row wrong. Courtesy of me like getting predictions wrong grill and grill like those started with the Steelers game in Jacksonville. I picked the jacks to win. And the Steelers sets out last two minute drive. The Steelers to win a Denver and the openness sleep game. And then I was out in Oakland for the raiders game. And I saw there's zero chance they lose operate gate happened. So yeah, that's how my wife grew here. That's the best. Subscribe stuff there, my friend. I, you know, I absolutely love it. Listen, I don't think Antonio Brown has done right by his own worth. I think that what he's really done has upset eighteen that can be quite stingy in its own way. Concertedly bitter in its own right? But I think that all he's done has upset a fan base of the team that they will decide whether he stays or goes over this last week is that how you guys talked about it this after in the afternoons this week or was I wrong. Went Brown promoted full trade request. I same I taste that you just laid out. The Steelers are not going to be hostage by player. They're not going to capitulate to someone. They're not gonna give him what he wants and harder. He backs into louder. He is in the more. He cries and back Simone stock getting traded, the more and more likely it is but out of spite the Steelers Oldham to contract and make them report the training staff. So when that happened that was probably the first time in a while, son. But I was convinced or starting to be more and more. The Steelers might actually brings him back not because they wanted to mend fences or repair the relationship, but they didn't want the star player his way. Why what happened yesterday with this meeting? Rooney down in Florida. I was that. A little bit to me that's a face to face break up. That's the owner in the player getting together. I think the owner son. This is the situation. You know, we gotta work to trade you. We're not gonna give you what you want. You're not a free agent. But you gotta make some concessions and some soccer ffices. I'm going on Twitter and bring it up style. With from Ben Roberts burgers pass in closets. It's not really the best way to win trade value south. I don't know if it'll be a suicide conversation that probably wealthy, but I. The first to Tonio Brown rate that we've seen where do you think he could end up? What's the most likely compensation in the trade? I he's not going to. I I think the first thirty two foot drop off the board. Lady bird. That with trade a soccer ground. Although right now, I would probably say third round pick. A maybe, you know. Not not not a starter on a team. Maybe a young player. That's the Steelers life who they can be down the road a guy that steps in to a starting spot. So quite like that maybe a third around pick like that. Something like that. That makes the most sense out of ones that are desperate and pop if we have to lose. That's why I'm with the Vegas. They just made the cardinals the favorites to get on. That makes a lot of sense to me because the Steelers and cardinals have a trade history. Hi, Pat and Colbert have worked out Yeltsin the path. Works out a deal. Absolutely pony. Koneohe brown. Pittsburgh. It was a trade that involve the cardinals and the jets Tonio homes to New York. And it's Brian beside in round pick that was used to wrap around the Steelers. So I think that one that I get if the raiders do it. I don't think they part with one of the first pets. I don't rule them out. People here. Want to see folk when trade the twenty four th through the twenty seven. I just don't see that happening. Andrew Phillip pony. He joins us afternoon show host 93.7 the fan in Pittsburgh. Ed bouchette I'm not taking a shot at that guy. I think he's a good writer in not every opinion. I agree with and I didn't agree with this one. Is that I think it was he who said that they should take anything even a conditional seventh rounder to get this guy out of here. And I'm thinking that it's just that is not the Pittsburgh Steelers that I've grown to times loathe, obviously. But at times respect are obviously always respect. And always know I think that they'd rather just hold onto them and even pay them to stay away. Then give up a conditional seventh round. And let him beat them on the football field somewhere. Ah Justice speak for out here. I think his point was half. The trade 'em can't be picking the cat. What does that come in? And if if the for sale sign on the car thirty thousand dollars. Yeah. It's the best offer. They get twenty grand car doesn't stay in the garage. They've got to sell it. No matter what it's not. It's not making the trip to the new house with them. I think what's the point. He was trying to make no cocoa by crook. They have to get him off the roster by any means necessary. And if this trait value porn to the point where you just pretty much give them away. You still have to do that. I think the merit to that point is I just do not see any way. The relationship between Bannon AB they trust round to come back here as a reform citizens as a model teammate and hope keep offenders crossed that they don't have another episode or another incident John this upcoming season. Tracks them down and makes them a punchline. Again, I do from their perspective ought to get rid of Brown. And they're hoping and praying that they get something of value back for the season that went awry in two thousand eighteen because that was a team that could have went to a Super Bowl with the talent that they had. Whereas most of the blame put is a put on him Antonio Brown. Ben rothlisberger. Mike Tomlin somebody else or or another group. What is it's on the coach round this one game. And they won the game. And he had another thousand yard season and yet another one hundred hot season for the sixth consecutive year. So even doing what's distraction at times, and I do say the relationship between Donald eighty or on dies in the locker room. I don't think that's the reason why they lost. It's more of an epidemic of suspension problem. Which is that you have a coach who is the worst pitcher players coach right now that he's allowed allowed guys. I don't really Tonio Brown. Wow. Signed on the line or second string players to show up wait for things without real punishment. They were one of the worst detail oriented teams in the NFL sloppy team. And I think it's because there's not a real high level of a ton of -bility problems. Like boys will be boys or I'll let polity completely backfired on them here. And I can't see him becoming a strict disciplinarian overnight. It's not like a college situation where you could pretty much watch is graduate you start fresh with an all new team coach completely changes philosophy. That's not the case here. So I think I think a Falls South on him. And it's not just the fact that he was in Bill Balaton Bilbao type. It's my way or the highway you're gonna by my rules. It's also that some of his in game decisions. But absolutely nothing to do with choir behavior. But just completely backfired on his team that includes taking back the white lace which happens a couple times a year here. Also, just. In day management decisions. The kind of things we criticize most coaches for this is a twelve year almost regarded as one of the best in the league based on his record. And shouldn't be falling victim to those types of mistakes. So yeah, I would say Tom went on more than anybody else. Well, you know, I agree with you on that one on that one point you made because I've talked about some crap here and for you guys to let the are actually say for the Pittsburgh Steelers to allow them to be in those games. And I think they're going to be better, obviously. But to allow those games to be the closest it's pretty ridiculous. What's going to happen? With Levy on belly. Andrew. Bell is going to play for a team that has a lot of cap space also opinion that realizes that there might be I Baker on offense away. They're making the play offs vacation the next up. So that's why I think the pucks and mixed a lot of sense. They're in this arms race now with the colts got the sod Watson crappy offensive line quarterback this and making a lot of money right now you could afford to pay a running back a little bit more. Say can the Rams approach to last options? And they're they're still at Jared Goff on a rookie contract. They were very aggressive and not only free agency. But the trademark they took a risk personality size like to leave to Peter's. And they were rewarded for it? I think that's the team e close to. I don't think it'll be the jets. I think he wants Miami. But I don't think the new administration. They're the new leadership. There were put the shot on them. You know, I never rule out a team like Washington just because Dan Snyder whites to collect fantasy football players. And maybe, but the Alex Smith injury he thinks this is the only way so I I think that's the type of team he goes to Houston if the rumor team, and they pay him and give him guaranteed, Mike. He'll get a pretty good player. I think that they guarantee in thirty thirty million dollars, which is what he wants. I could see him as a safety valve as a pass blocker for the Shawn Watson. And then it got out of the backfield and makes a lot of place. So that would be my guess there's zero chance is back.

McKenzie Milton, UCF Knights QB, suffers leg injury

"Regular season, two straight years. The Golden Knights have gone through the regular season unscathed. This year ranked eighth hypol- describing what was a costly victory McKenzie Milton the UCF quarterback who had twenty four straight games the touchdown pass. And was probably a fringe Heisman Trophy. Candidate was lost a severe knee injury in this game. He left his backup came in a redshirt freshman and the knights scored twenty eight points behind their backup quarterback. And I want to tackle a question that I've heard in regards to UCF tonight. I wanna try something on for size here. And I'm Andrew Phillip pony. In for ferrall on CBS sports radio comedy from the Quicken Loans. Studios national mortgage lender. Quicken Loans apply simply understand fully mortgage confidently. One of the ways that UCF gets disparaged by critics by college football fans in other places is this hypothetical question gets raised about them. Well, what would they do with Fe? Warren conference ex. Ceesay for UCF to get through the American athlete undefeated. They only have one win over a ranked opponent. They beat number twenty four pit at home forty five to fourteen. They played the seventy second. Best schedule in America. They only had eleven games because a trip to North Carolina was cancelled because of the hurricane. So they really are undeserving of the top ten rating, and they definitely don't deserve to be included in the national championship the college football playoff conversation. And I agree with that second point. There's not enough on their resume. To suggest or recommend that they play for college football playoff. Like all hell would have to break loose in the next two weeks for them to even get considered. But the idea that they're not a really good football team is blast semester. Me. I think it's ridiculous. And here's the comparison. I'll make to prove my point. What do you think would happen? If UCF was in the SEC. Now, I think most of you would want to jump in and say they probably be like a eight and four seven and five team. They would just be a middle of the pack team in the SEC. They wouldn't be the worst team. They wouldn't be a team that finished in the basement like Arkansas. They wouldn't be Vanderbilt. They wouldn't be ole miss. They'd be middle of the pack. And I hear a lot of. I hear a lot of national media kind of make those blanket statements that this seems to be what are these ongoing debates college game day was at UCF last week. And they brought it up like, hey, let's tip our cap the UCF, but let's be real about it if they were in a power five conference data have three or four losses by now. And I just don't think that's
