"I mean, he got that enormous deal with FanDuel. I think his show is now known for just not being like the Aaron Rodgers interview show. I think the guests he gets are outstanding. But he's got like, actually, he's got a crew. Like Boston Connor, and those guys, they're like, but that's the Howard stern formula. You need a crate. I like that. You need a crew. Yeah, absolutely. And there's the high jinks between them is what's cool. I also think I wrote this. No, I didn't write this in the column. I did not write this in the column. I talked about this on last week's pod with Brian Curtis a little. I don't know if it necessarily falls into like the MVP who had the best year. But I thought this was a phenomenal year for Joe buck from this standpoint. I hear you. Him and Troy made Monday night a big deal again. Yep. They also, I mean, ESPN has searched for a Monday night booth for so long. I mean, they had to RICO and Gruden. I was never a Gruden guy, so then they went through the disaster of booger McFarland, poor guy on a crane. They had the levy greasy Riddick thing, didn't catch on. For ESPN to stabilize that booth is a huge deal in the business. Fans may not care about it, but for ESPN now where they don't have to have themselves get bludgeoned every Monday night for four hours. They paid $3 billion for Monday Night Football. They'll gladly spend 50 million on the right guys. And I've said this a billion times the listeners are probably like, I didn't watch the man in kiss this year because Joe and Troy Ron, I just left it on. And I also found it fascinating when the World Series was going on in the playoffs, even the All-Star Game. Baseball fans were like, where's Joe buck? I miss Joe buck. I think this is like the year people realized, and the hatred of Joe buck has dissipated each year. It used to be a big Twitter thing. And I think it's definitely gotten better. But I thought this year 2022 people realized with the switch from Fox to ESPN and what he's done for my football, not doing the baseball. I think people realize that he is an all time great.

"I'll throw out some categories. We go rapid fire here before we wrap up and just whatever you guys want to say here. So we did sports show. We did not in sports show. What are the sports media? Give me some sports. Let's talk about people. Give me a new sports media thing you love this year. All right, I have never been a barstool guy. When I say, I see their stuff, but I've never followed barstool where it's like I'm one of the students. I've never been that. And yet I respect the business model and all this stuff. This year, I got sucked into this guy, Frank the tank. I don't know if you guys watch the bar stool stuff, but it's Frank the tank is a die hard mets and dolphins fan. And I think he's the greatest thing to hit sports media this year. He is so passionate and absolutely freaks and they have these live feeds of them all watching games together. So you've got all the familiar faces, the big cats and the Dave portnoy and all them. And then the front seat is this guy who is a Jimmy, we know these guys who live in Queens and they watch every game or whatever he's from in Jersey and they just live and die with every pitch. And it's like, you know, I used to tune into francesa at 1 o'clock on a Monday after like a terrible giants game or a jets game just to hear the misery. This is in real time. And so his name is Frank the tank. I think it's NJ tank 99 on Twitter, but they have found gold in this guy. And I'm not laughing at him. I'm laughing with him. I think he's hilarious. I think he's the nest. I enjoy watching a true authentic sports thing, not someone who's got 17 brands behind them and is trying to muster up a social media following. Right. Peter, you had a great tweet about, I know you I think you went in studio with part of my take. Yeah. That feels closer to Howard Stern right now. Then everything. And I think honestly, I'm good friends with big cat and I think he gets a ton of credit. He's a freaking genius. And PFT is a genius too. Can I tell you something about paper guys? What I respect? Not to make this a pro barstool commercial or anything. Those guys, it cats got kids.

"My favorite thing that I watch in 22 is old and I had did not come out in 22. It came out years ago. But I never watched it until this year, which was Succession. I love that show so much. In all timer. How excited are you? I am very excited. I'm glad now I'm ready for the next season. It's amazing. That's the best thing I watched this year, but it's not from 2022. Pearl is good. Sessions up there for me. Any FX show, Peter is amazing. What We Do in the Shadows, I don't know if you've seen that. I haven't. It's beyond good. It's Taika Waititi the famous director. There's a scene that will make you specifically laugh about getting your kid into private school this year. But I think the bear was on FX. I'm not sure. There was on FX. Everyone loved it. Love it. People, I love the show called station 11 on HBO. It's a serious one. But righteous gem shows amazing buddy. Oh, love it. Did anybody see the offer on paramount about the movie? Of course. Of course. I could not wait every episode. Boom, boom boom boom. I see I binged it and I watched it all at once. I thought Miles Teller was fantastic. I thought the woman who plays who's in Ted Lasso, she's great. Matthew Goode is. Amazing. Great, as Robert Evans. So good, yeah. That show was excellent. Bobby kind of valley's son plays one of the heavies in that one, and he's fantastic too. Really? Wow. Yeah. I'm glad you brought up the bear because that was that's the best 2022 show I want. Really? It was a half hour long, everyone loved it, but and very easy episodes. There's only like 8. It's very easy to get through. It's a little tough. I found it a little like, it's one of those shows, stressful, stressful. Stressful. White lotus season two, I feel stressful. Like all these shows, I know you watch, I loved my favorite note of the year was Peter said he was Sean mcgray watching white lotus season once. That was amazing. Season Susan's lost and hand Veronica, they invite me over their house. Very nice to them on their bye week. And I'm like, oh, please, let's not talk about rams football. And he's like, well, let's watch a show. I'm like, white lotus season two starts in a couple weeks. You watch it like, no. We've been to the whole season together. Me and him, his wife and him, eating takeout food on his couch and his castle out in California. It was great. But white lotus season two was even better than season one. Yeah. The bear is great and I wouldn't put it as a best show, but if you want your brain messed with, the Nathan for you, the rehearsal. The rehearsal, rehearsal, but I still don't know what the fuck it was. I have no clue, but. I love it. I listen to a podcast called, it's called the watch, and it's by the ringer guys, and it's too filly guys. Chris Ryan and ND greenwald, and I believe their guest was a guy named Sam, esme, who does other shows that mister robot and he said the rehearsal was his number one show of the entire year. And I couldn't argue. I thought it was crazy. I was awesome. I have a huge, huge fan. I become friends with some people who are in Hollywood and stuff. Nathan peeled her as a mystery to everybody. He's been offered roles in movies and he's turned him down.

"And we talked about all this stuff, but it wasn't that moment. If you weren't a patriots or raiders fan, you probably weren't sitting on the couch and collectively watching that with everyone. Now, a moment that I think was big and tell me, pearl, you're a Philadelphia sports fan. I feel like that Bryce Harper home run was massive, and I'm not even a baseball fan. But everyone, what it's a scenario town, but everyone was freaking out about that. Yeah, it's great. Yeah, a Grand Slam to win a playoff game. I mean, gigantic. I had that on my list too. By the way, one thing Peter about, you showed a play today of the New Orleans Saints running back, a lateral. There was incredible on good morning football. I couldn't believe it. I don't remember 2003. I think we be the social media. Everything that happens now gets blown up out of proportion. Like, there have been plays like this that just now feel bigger because of Twitter, I think. Yeah, the only thing I would say was Jaguar saints and it was a pass from Aaron Brooks, the Dante stallworth who went back another played a Michael Lewis who then lateraled it to draw and python who then gave it to two smokehouse there were then no matter what the score. And then they missed the extra point to send it to overtime. It's one of the craziest games ever, but happened in 2003 with the New Orleans Saints and we'd forget about it. I don't know if this one has the lasting power that we might think it does today. Good point, I agree with you. I would say this too. You can probably make the argument that the end of the bills Vikings game. Was wilder than the Raiders patriots with the fumbled snap at the goal line. You also have the whole Paul Allen thing of it. And you had to catch with Jefferson in the middle of that game. That to me is one of the games for a regular season game. Obviously, you know, postseason's a whole different story. But that for regular season probably the best game of the regular season. Probably. The thing about the Chandler Jones Jacoby Myers thing I kind of wish Chandler Jones didn't pick it off 'cause I wanted to see what Mac Jones would do at that point. He's like all by himself on his own 30. If he catches that ball, what the fuck is gonna happen? Yeah. What is gonna happen? Oh my God. I thought he might run it in, because he got that like 40 30. I was actually live, but it was crazy. I know. I would just say that the real lasting thing, why it's got a little special taste to it, is because it happened with the Patriots head coach on those sidelines. Like, that's the last thing you expect. And yet, the Miami miracle, this miracle. That's two plays in 5 years that are just inexplicable losses at the final seconds. I had a buddy of mine, Matt dollinger, who I used to work with these now at the ringer. He asked, he's a big colts fan, and he had asked me, Meyers play eclipse the all time famous cults fake punt. Yeah. The dumbest play in NFL history, and I said, I think it's in apples and oranges thing because the colts thing was like a design play call, whereas the patriot thing was on an individual player. So it's a hard comparison. I said, I think the

"We're telling you that we're losers that we're impressed by it. My phone is filled with neighbors of mine who hang out with patty mills. Patty mills is apparently the nicest person at all Brooklyn. Patty mills. Yeah. The best part of this is sugar got way more excited for patty mills than John Krasinski. That's the best part of this whole entire thing. It is. A proof was John Krasinski around the DP show? Nope. We could never get him. And I have no idea why. I probably tried harder for him than any other guest. Remember the pandemic he started his own show too. We were like, oh, come on, talk about that. Yeah. I know. I know. Never been a good morning football, is it? No. We had Brian baumgartner from the office. He was great. Awesome. Every podcast that's on Apple has had Brian baumgartner this year. I'm pretty sure. It was the number one podcast. No. I was going to get a lot of podcasts. He's been a guest on every radio show, TV show and podcast. You had him recently, right, Jimmy. No, maybe over this summer. Krasinski is like, in my top 5 of like dream guests and why is that? Because I love the office. Yeah. And I think he doesn't get enough credit for how important he wasn't the office. So you'd rather have him than Steve Carell. I've had corel. That's the thing. So that's why Krasinski's left on the list was what you thought he would be, because sometimes he was great. Funny guy, and he's very serious. He was great. You know, it was more about like the PR people like 15 minutes and literally when the clock went from 1459 to 15, the PR person got on the phone and was like, gotta end it. He talked about the office. He was great, couldn't have been nicer. It was only a 15 minute interview. It came out as well as I could have expected, because you guys know this. You can't do good interviews in 15 minutes. It's very good. Can I go off tangent again? So you've been you got me back into the office when you would always be having you. I could see that Ryan Priscilla, or you had Chris long, you're doing something you were talking about and I binge the office during the pandemic, watch the entire thing, and I love it so much. "What was the name of the popular Sandler movie with the Gant where he's the gambler? The big one he did, but the gyms on the gems. I'm 99% sure that before Uncut Gems, the last Sandler movie I saw was wedding singer. Well, you're miss out a lot. No, it didn't say it. Really? I'm not a sandwich guy, so I stick out like a stress on in this conversation. Okay. I mean, I love the wedding singer, and I love the wedding singer. I thought Uncut Gems was okay, but I thought he was brilliant in it and he should have won the Oscar for it. Yeah. Do you like the Netflix comedy special? Were he tours around? It's really funny. It's like kind of old Sandler. With a mental too. Like it reminds you of his old CDs and listen to in high school. Yeah, I didn't listen to a series in high school. You didn't look medium paste, you didn't listen to tobu Willy? None of this? I was never a sandwich guy. I was never a sandwich guy. What were you guys Bob Newhart? Were we listening to it? Howard Stern. Howard Stern. Yeah. Pearl off the other media person you'd like to shout out for 2021. I was so scared because I feel like you guys are real pros and naming. I don't want to say I think you guys are going to judge me and be like, we will judge you for sure. I don't always. I watch a lot of red zone and I watch games with sound off. But I watch Kenny Albert Jonathan Bill a game the other day I'm fine. Join it very much. Great. And I love guys like Kenny Albert and I and eagle the way they play with talent and play off talent and be funny is hysterical to me. And he goes my favorite. You're not allowed to name my eagle. I said, you can't name the a listers. You had to give myself an under the radar. So that's good for Kenny Albert and velma. And I have a theory on guys. It's not the individual talents. It's a chemistry of the two. I feel like if you take Romo Nancy away from each other, they're not as good. Maybe Nancy's good with anybody. But honestly, I like the interplay and I notice it was Jonathan accidentally cursed on air. I think he was doing the eagles giants. And Kenny called him out like ten seconds later he was like, oh, I thought you were going to let me go. And I was laughing at a loud funny. So I like familiarity. I'm actually not. I don't need the biggest names on it. I like guys who are more conversational. So I and I'm sorry, I feel like everybody, you know, if you look at a list, everyone likes to keep the lead pieces much different. He's a lot of fun. But to me, it's like the guys who are comfortable within their own skin and our conversational. That's great. Good job. Thanks, guys. "Lamar Jackson, not a good quarterback. Maybe I can be on good morning. Maybe I can be a hard one. Very defensive of Lamar going back to his college days and it's not a race thing. It's just that people he can't throw. He can't throw things. Then there is a whole thing of Huntley might be better than him and then it was a Lamar army came out like Lamar has his supporters. If you want to win, if you want to go ten and 6 or whatever, now there's 70 games. 11 and 6 in the regular season and get to the first round of the playoffs Lamar Jackson's fine. If you want to win a Super Bowl, you quarterback has to be able to throw. He can't so they're not gonna run a Super Bowl. Okay, let me propose something for you guys. If you're the ravens and Lamar's going into a contract year, would you rather pay Lamar Jackson $35 million for 5 years or would you rather pay huntly three to $5 million and see where you go for the next couple of years? Jimmy, you. Why does it have to be those two choices? There's no other choice to get a different quarterback. You're going to walk away from Lamar. See door number two? I mean, can you get Russell Wilson for one or two years and put him on that team? I bet you go into Super Bowl. Okay. Wait, Jimmy, Peter. I'm doing the math. 35 million for 5 years. That's 7 million a year for Lamar Jackson. That is a bargain. That is a bargain. 5 years, 35%. No, you're not going to pay. Now, are you worried about injuries? I know. That's always a cop out. And all these arguments, you always say, if, you know, it's always like, they're going to go 9 and 7, if healthy. So I think that if healthy argument, because Lamar, you see it this year. It takes some punishment. I think they're going to pay them based on sales that I've got. And I think it's one of those deals like, well, we love you. We built our team around here. We might as well write or die with this guy, and we'll see. But they love him there in Baltimore. Well, I mean, listen, I'm sure there's a hope there that they can develop him into someone who can throw better than he does. I mean, I think it's sort of, I don't understand what happened, but every time I watch a ravens, they have one guy who can catch a football. And why you don't have four guys on Mark Andrews at all times. And it feels like they do cover them a lot, but once in a while, that guy breaks free. That's more than even Cooper Cup in the rams. He is that one. He's the one. I got it. I got to take control of his podcast because I really don't want to break down the ravens offensive weapons. It's just not what I want to do here. "I guess a grain is a nice way of saying contrarian takes. But then skip bail is took contrary and takes and made $50 million off of it. If people had supported me when I was making bad things, Peter, you don't even know these bad takes. Do you know the best in one? Yards followed by it all started with Tom Brady. We were together like O 5 or O four. Tom Brady was winning super bowls and was the hero of the Patriots, but he wasn't leading them to super bowls. Where did you remember where you stood on? He was kind of part of the patriot system. So I Jimmy goes, oh, you're calling Tom Brady a system quarterback. And it just took off from there. And then so but you know what I'm talking about. You were there for the early patriot days. Of course. And part of good morning football, it's like cable pose something and the X player whether it be Nate or whoever it is now will probably take the conventional take and then me and Kyle have to kind of look at each other in a showdown and be like, all right, we can't all just say the same board. One of us has to take. So today, for example, it was should the NFL be scared of the dolphins right now. And my answer is no. And I'm looking at Kyle right in the eyes and I'm like, you gotta take it, bro you gotta and then he's like, here's why you would be scared of the doll. And yes, Kyle took it. But you know, that's just television and radio. Like, it can't just be three people across the board, being like, no, no, next question. You got to make something out of it. And then the dolphins fans listening get super pissed. And that's the kind of the magic in the art behind all this. And I go on Simmons's podcast once and every week. He's got a new one and I'm like, you are just a take machine and I respect it. This is why I like having my own show because I would never be able to do that. I would never be able to just give the take that's needed. I don't have it anymore. All right, let's try it here. Make the case, make the case for why the Tennessee Titans can win the AFC. Go. They can't. That's why that's why I can't be on the show. Yeah. Yeah, right. I was not that good, so they won't. We did a rehearsal show today. "It is unbelievable. He's in a car on the BQE going to the U.S. open to play Roger Federer in the quarterfinals. Has a nervous breakdown doesn't play tennis again for three years. And I never knew this about him at all. And it's all about his growing up with Andy Roddick and having a nervous breakdown as well. We are always, where can I and where can I and the listeners watch this? This is Netflix. So it's the same thing we did the mouse with the palace documentary. I will watch it. I will watch it this week. There's a documentary wild wild west from last year about in Oregon that my uncle was in. I think we talked about it last year. What? I don't know. My uncle filed a bog wine, but that's a whole different side story. Yeah, my uncle dropped out of college and moved to Oregon to be with viral. Anyway, those people who did that documentary, which won all the awards did sports and they did Marty fish. They did this hockey team that was invaded by the mafia somewhere upstate. I can't remember. But they're all amazing. They did a great job. And I'm going to give one last shout out and then I want to give a shout out because I know you guys are old school wrestling fans too. There is a phenomenal show on vice called Dark Side of the Ring. Seen everyone, Jimmy. They had a great season this year. The episode on The Ultimate Warrior was the episode on the plane ride from hell. Jake the snake Roberts highly recommend. And a and E also did a bunch of WWE biographies this year. They did them over the summer. I watched all of them. So if you're a wrestling fan, especially old school, check those out. Those are great too. Jimmy, those guys like to party a little bit. Yes. One more alone where they take these survivors. I try. Dude, it's awesome. Alone is the best stuff. This goes back to my point. You have kids. How do you have all this time? I don't care. I've just literally told you that 9 shows I've watched this year. If you asked me about any other show, I would ask me about anything that runs on any network other than CBS. CBS management, bob loves iosh la and he's watching the United States of Al now, CBS guy. Do you guys do you guys schrager? Maybe you sit with this one out. I don't want to get into a fox. But do you guys ever watch football on a Sunday? And one of the guys will do a promo read for some show that's on during the week on Fox and CBS and you're like, what the fuck is this? I'm watching it and I'm seeing as commercial for the Peninsula episode of this is us. I'm like, I didn't know this thing was still on. Grey's Anatomy. It's been on for about 47 seasons. "It was okay. It wasn't great. It was it wasn't what I expected, but it was pretty, I mean, listen, again, I'm a TV junkies in a way. So I didn't realize like, you know, you know I love Lucy and you know it's like considered the greatest sitcom. I didn't realize like Lucy started a production company. And Star Trek came from her production company. And the untouchables came from, I didn't realize the show spun off all these things. So I enjoyed it from a historical television pop culture standpoint. The movie itself was okay. By the way, I wrote down a bunch of shows that I wanted to ask you guys if you were into. Oh, good. I give it a I give it a B solid B did you both do Succession? Yes. No. Get back, obviously, we talked about Cobra Kai this year. I think they had a season this year. I did not watch. It's all about dragons and wizards. Either any of the any of the Disney shows that were like dramas like Loki or the one that the witch doesn't know which is in dragons and bullshit. "But I also just finished a third time viewing of The Sopranos. I watched that at the beginning of it. There's nothing better. There is nothing. The movie, though, you want to talk about 2021, one of the duds of 2021. The many saints. I got lured into that thing and had a different experience. I got invited to go to the Beacon theater and I'd been a movie theater in two years and all the stars were there. And I sat with a lot of the old cast and it was so awesome to see everyone that I got caught up in it and I loved it. But I guess if I saw it on my couch, I probably wouldn't have I mean, it's clearly not a rarely older thing didn't work for me. I like the way they tied up the junior thing, but I tell you another tangent. It presses me, Peter. You'll know this. I sat around with Jimmy and Sports Illustrated for years. And he would talk about his heroes. Mike and the mad dog and Howard Stern and different things. Just when you and then you're interviewing these people now and you're not like, you're not like Chris Farley and The Beatles. You actually do a functional interview, which to me is crazy because I saw you kind of worship your heroes. So always surprise I think that you would just clam up with these guys, but you're totally comfortable. You guys don't get nervous doing interviews. Do you? You put Howard Stern up here and you put Francis here. And then you can and imagine. The only time I was ever nervous for an interview is I interviewed Jeter in person, a hundred years ago. This is before a podcast. And I think after that, I realized there's really no reason to be nervous for these things. Yeah. I got it out of my system early. And there's just no reason to be nervous. I mean, what I get nervous about somebody is, if someone's not good on the podcast, who the person is, you know, and you guys know this, there's different. Listen, you interview people who want to come on who get into it. There are people who are on there who want to plug stuff and that's the only reason they're there. And I try not to do those because it's not going to be good. So there's no reason, you know, most of the time there's really no reason to be nervous. Jimmy, what's your cultural blind pop cultural blind spot, like Sopranos all this? But I don't do the sci-fi dragon stuff. So I've never seen an episode of Game of Thrones. I never seen it. Mandalorians. That you've never seen. It's the same thing. I don't do any sci-fi. I don't do any Lord of the Rings and whatever hobbits. I don't do Star Wars. I don't care about Thrones. My buddy genre who prolong knows. Genera police. Yeah, it says we have an ongoing thing where he says like there are very few things that can get through the Jimmy train imagination clause. I don't have an imagination for like a movie with Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I have no interest. Dimension..

And all these arguments, you always say, if, you know, it's always like, they're going to go 9 and 7, if healthy. So I think that if healthy argument, because Lamar, you see it this year. It takes some punishment. I think they're going to pay them based on sales that I've got. And I think it's one of those deals like, well, we love you. We built our team around here. We might as well write or die with this guy, and we'll see. But they love him there in Baltimore. Well, I mean, listen, I'm sure there's a hope there that they can develop him into someone who can throw better than he does. I mean, I think it's sort of, I don't understand what happened, but every time I watch a ravens, they have one guy who can catch a football. And why you don't have four guys on Mark Andrews at all times. And it feels like they do cover them a lot, but once in a while, that guy breaks free. That's more than even Cooper Cup in the rams. He is that one. He's the one. I got it. I got to take control of his podcast because I really don't want to break down the ravens offensive weapons. It's just not what I want to do here. "Do you know the best in one? Yards followed by it all started with Tom Brady. We were together like O 5 or O four. Tom Brady was winning super bowls and was the hero of the Patriots, but he wasn't leading them to super bowls. Where did you remember where you stood on? He was kind of part of the patriot system. So I Jimmy goes, oh, you're calling Tom Brady a system quarterback. And it just took off from there. And then so but you know what I'm talking about. You were there for the early patriot days. Of course. And part of good morning football, it's like cable pose something and the X player whether it be Nate or whoever it is now will probably take the conventional take and then me and Kyle have to kind of look at each other in a showdown and be like, all right, we can't all just say the same board. One of us has to take. So today, for example, it was should the NFL be scared of the dolphins right now. And my answer is no. And I'm looking at Kyle right in the eyes and I'm like, you gotta take it, bro you gotta and then he's like, here's why you would be scared of the doll. And yes, Kyle took it. But you know, that's just television and radio. Like, it can't just be three people across the board, being like, no, no, next question. You got to make something out of it. And then the dolphins fans listening get super pissed. And that's the kind of the magic in the art behind all this. And I go on Simmons's podcast once and every week. He's got a new one and I'm like, you are just a take machine and I respect it. This is why I like having my own show because I would never be able to do that. I would never be able to just give the take that's needed. I don't have it anymore. All right, let's try it here. Make the case, make the case for why the Tennessee Titans can win the AFC. Go. They can't. That's why that's why I can't be on the show. Yeah. Yeah, right. I was not that good, so they won't. We did a rehearsal show today. And we were fighting over who had to take the pro to a tape. I did not want the pro two would take. I'm curious what Kyle came up with because it just means you beat Ian book in a 20 to 3D game like it's hard to make that protein. I think Kyle's tank was you only drive the car to the keys you're given the car do, and they don't ask him to do much more. He does everything they ask him to do. And they win games.
