"And the dog days of August are behind you. And now you have that. An import. Speaking of players and teams, You know, we've talked about great players who played for the Indians. When we've talked on Saturday nights, one that I think people forgot about Andrew McCutchen on NL most viable player in 2013, a former Indianapolis Indians. Yes. Now he joined us the end of those seven the last few weeks. He spent all of 2008 with us, and he didn't. His numbers are certainly respectable, but he was He wasn't really squaring balls up, and I don't think he had an excellent year. He was OK, fairly good. But there are people who felt she should go to the big leagues. The following spring, 09 based on his numbers, pirates seemed otherwise. He came to Indianapolis, and he was different. Hitter because he wasn't pulling off the ball anymore. He was staying on the ball. He was looking to drive it, and one result was he was hitting a number of triples hitting balls in the gap, which he wasn't doing the year before. He only did a couple of times the very end of the year in in a weight, so he improved so much from Lloyd 09. It's something that Reggie Jackson talks about two. Don't try to pull the ball in your mindset. Because if you think there's a left hand hitter like Reggie hit the ball over the shortstop, then if they come inside your pole, but if you're looking to pull, you're going to hit the ball, 30 ft. Foul and McCutchen was doing some of that from the right side. But he changed his mind said, just look to drive the ball and he became a really good hitter. He did great unknown nine The first two months got called up by Pittsburgh. And as you said one the MVP award in 2013. I think, Bob Fault. Most viable Player award is the most prestigious award in professional sports. You do a lot of things or Ah, course of time. So I agree with you, Howard Kalman. I give you missed. It was sent back to Cleveland after pitching yesterday went out with friends in Chicago. And Yeah, I think Players are gonna be Upset if teammates aren't respecting the protocols that may ultimately affect them. First offering check swing by Santana and it's Ball one. I know you don't follow the N B a a ton even though you're big. In terms of, you know, European basketball Twitter right overseas if you want to follow that, Chris Singleton Him up at singing tweets. Ultimately. Mitchell got infected. And it caused the rift in their relationship. They they had some issues to begin with. But There was a problem. There were effectively. Mitchell was pretty certain that Goldberg gave him Cove it next pitches in for a strike. Get a count two on one. Well, what's interesting is you have visiting you are opposing players. I mean, Andrew McCutchen voice this past week that Hey, we did everything right? But because our opponents didn't Right next pitch downstairs. Put us in a position. So you know, there's times where the guy's actions affect his teammates. Whether hey, he's out, he gets into a fight in a bar. You can't pitch the next day or can't play team's counting on him. But this goes even beyond that. To have an impact. In your opponents. That's what I think we heard from Andrew McCutchen this week. You know, expressing this past week expressing the frustration of Everyone following the protocols the right way. Next pitch outside. So Santana will take the walk. How do you like that? Carlos Santana Del four straight games. He's walked three or more times that is wild. Not anxious at all at the plate very consistent with his personality, very laid back. Easy going. Andre swift has not taken a snap in the NFL yet for the Detroit Lions he's slated to make more money then Dalvin cook by a couple hundred thousand dollars so Dalvin certainly deserves to get paid more by the Minnesota Vikings is no doubt about it does he need to be in a sixteen million dollar Christian McCaffrey range no but he should be one of the top paid he he needs to be up there it's ridiculous I know he had a a torn ACL in his first season but this man needs to get paid I just told you about Aaron Rodgers the general manager of the Green Bay Packers said he is expected to be here for quite a while they're gunning for championships in Green Bay even though they drafted his replacement incident necessarily get him too much self so draw and look into that what you will so we have more of the show I want to talk to you about quite a few things that I'm going to break down some of the NFL rules for return I'm gonna do that later on in the show they basically outlined some of their health protocols which I don't find to be all that realistic or reasonable we can lay out rules we can lay out you know guidelines for players and teams to follow but is that realistic in a contact sport like the NFL we're going to go ahead and discuss that Colin Capra Nick is said to be in the best shape of his life is that a true statement is is this something that was you know rolled out by a member or a leak by by a buddy it is is fake it doesn't matter I mean we haven't seen him play football since twenty sixteen I saw him in his work out at the at the end of last year I saw that with my own eyes he looked ready what does he look like you know six seven eight months later we're gonna go ahead and discuss that more interesting news something interesting in this just took place over the weekend we know what the racial climate has been in and and chest this this this past week the past several weeks have just have have been wild here in United States of America you go from the pandemic you move into the fight for equality and social justice and for a lot of people this is brand new nose but for a lot of African Americans in the country this is the same old patent people want change and it's understood that they want so the you know what we had to deal with drew Brees comments which I've I've found I told you last week I found them to be disrespectful and then as a result of that drew Brees you know he heard it from a lot of people then he apologized in me he said you know what I'm sorry this is what I said was a diversion from the real topic at hand that's any NFL the NC double a in college football has not been the you know they haven't been exempt any of this because I mean out out all teams you know Iowa the Hawkeyes they've had to deal with their own situation coach Kirk Ferentz he's basically put the strength and conditioning coach Chris Doyle the program has put him on administrative leave because the seamen over the span of about three or four days you have former hot guys who said that they were treated differently while they are I don't know what James Daniels is the offense of linemen for the bears is he hasn't been out of school for more than a couple of years and he said there too many racial disparities in Iowa football program black players have been treated unfairly for far too long now we have our safety Amani hooker was drafted by the Titans last year he says I remember whenever walking into the facility it would be difficult for black players to walk around the facility and be themselves as of the way you grew up was the wrong way or wasn't acceptable and that you would be judged by that and it would impact playing time and I'm with the the fact is you have Chris Doyle you know he's he's on leave and he's been there since he's led the program since nineteen ninety nine he makes more money than any strength and conditioning coach in the college system eight hundred thousand dollars a year a lot of the players point to him he says I've been asked to remain silent but that's impossible for me to do they've been statements made about my behavior that are not true I don't claim to be perfect I've made mistakes learn lessons in like every American citizen can do better at no time have I ever cross the line of unethical behavior or bias based upon race I do not make racist comments and I don't tolerate people who do and he expects for the record in his record so it's a pretty much show out and we'll see I mean you know coach Ferentz see he's put together an advisory an advisory committee former players active players so pretty much figure out how they can best go about being a a better program and I think like a lot of programs here in the United States of America not just you know athletic programs not college programs not pro sports programs a lot of places here in the United States of America they when it comes to employment when asked to deal with equal treatment across the board this is a this is a part of everybody waking up in understanding the the the climate of the country and not just the climate of where things are right now but how they have been so this is an unusual so I would suspect that we're going to see more instances like what we've seen take place what the Hawkeyes this isn't the first time we're going to hear this expect to hear more so I was football program they've been pushed right to the forefront and let's see how they go about responding to any changes and you can also see expect to see a lot of teams be pro active in setting up committees to salute to check in on how they conduct business behind closed doors how they treat their players how they hire I mean the NFL for the ridiculousness that they've spent for the past twenty years and trying to enact the proper Rooney rule and you can expect to see more of that across the board so Iowa they got their work cut out for them right now they're at the forefront of change and let's see how serious they take these accusations and decide to move forward now speaking of football as a whole in the NFL today online things are rather interesting I turned my head muscle drew lock was trending and my goal why is drew lock trending me play five games last year John Elway looks like he's entrusted him to at least get first shot with the franchise and then when I finally saw one drew lock is trimming its because ESPN did what a lot of places are doing it just like all this no football so let's figure out something to talk about and they re drafted the entire NFL in when you want to talk about quarterbacks I mean forget QB's overall drew lock went fifteenth this is someone who hasn't played more than five NFL games it makes zero sense drew lock is a great player in it's it's it's it's pretty fun because Dalton Risner his offense of guard who protects him right in front of them he was on the show a couple weeks ago and I asked him specifically what makes you lock so exciting to play with why do you believe that drew lock is the future and he gave me a very interesting training camp story if you recall last season drew lock was playing behind Joe Flacco well Dalton Risner was actually in training camp he wrong with drew lock and when I asked him why what makes this guy so important why do you think he's the future of the franchise Dalton had a interesting story to share with me listen to Dalton Risner basically tell me what drew lock is the future for the Broncos are what makes them stand out no blacked out with the guy heading into our your last year and you got drafted a new that you have an opportunity opportunity at some point but he wasn't sure if you're staying up as late as I was you know he did record a voice memo of the play and then he put his headphones on and play that moist memo back to the office of coordinator was telling that to him then he would say it out loud as if he was in a huddle and he just did little things like that he wanted to be competent he wanted that to be that guy when he came on the field be ready to announce the play no everyone's position where they were supposed to go route blocking schemes everything and that's kind of what I knew okay drew lock has that it factor he you know he's not preparing to be a starter right now because lack of the god he's making sure he's ready and that that meant a lot to me and aside from how true is when you get on the field bring the whole different swagger the team you know he's gonna celebrate when he scored a touchdown weather's pretend like you've buzz Lightyear or whatever yeah whatever it is there is going to do it and he just has a whole different edge to the whole office when he's out there when we line up is offline you know we know that winter's actors quarterback in anything's possible especially with the weapons that we have now watch TV too so I could talk about you for awhile but there's a few things I feel like separate himself separate temperament one else okay that's from the mouth of his own seeming but I must remind you drew play five games last season he threw seven touchdowns had three interceptions "They have promoting day. Isn't that amazing? Slow roster percentage is a problem, though, like the bridge to get tacked narrows mess. I was pitching lately, too, and then it gets all hurt. All right. We're wasting a lot of time relievers, let's move on speaking to the Phillies. Andrew mccutchen tours ACL on Monday. What a that's a bad loss their second most valuable player in war. I wrote a column about guys you can pick to score runs including Cesar Hernandez their new leadoff hitter. David Fletcher who I just love doesn't walk doesn't strike out. I love that gets on base. Jay Bruce hit three home runs and San Diego. Have you changed your mind on Jay Bruce? I guess we could you says here name game but I don't know. Go ahead. Everybody wants her name game. Highly holy thinly. Do what the tilles a pickle digitally do lead planner while the Dili pickle. But Elliott pickle, we can't draw. Bill believe delight birds city. Leave a pickle, come on to do whatever, you know. Picco dilly-dallied your way into another thing a name for you. I'm Salton of stat roast at dog stat kids hamster of sat white statal vicious. Mrs Steph was wrong with you a little game of trash trista. I'm here. Singing that we're having an intervention. So I'm looking at your rankings. We should have an intervention with you and my here's my issue and you can explain it. I'll give you the chance to explain it. So I view, Jay Bruce has a guy is gonna hit about thirty to forty and I think he get thirty thirty five home runs. But I kind of you Fran mo- race and Horace solar. Similarly, okay? They're different ages. Of course none of them still bases. None of them gets on base at all. But you've got race number forty two and you've got. So layer number sixty six and you've got Bruce number seventy six so why the big disparity there? Okay. Well, I Bruce will be higher after the mccutchen. You know, it's, it's, it's like we instantly publish this stuff and stuff happens. That was part of it. You're a big fan here and there's a large scrip issue like Fram. No, raise. I feel like ends up like thirty seven home runs and batting fifty and I'm Jay Bruce is far from thirty three homers in two thirty five like it's pretty close. Yeah. And they might get there in similar ways, and Bruce does have a significant ballpark advantage. But I don't know. I feel like I've seen enough of him over the years. He is an unending really streaky player. There's gonna be a period of time where Jay Bruce doesn't belong near an NL. Absolutely. You're going to be dropping him three weeks. I understand all this. It's just I'm looking at for a full season rotor league where I feel like I have the patients to wait on players kind of you, these guys like solar gonna end up hitting thirty home runs and batting fifty like I tell me this in this era is a thirty home run to fifty guy even valuable anymore. Nope. Which is why none of them are really. So that's issue. Generously raises probably a little bit over rank and I'll take I'll revisit that when he might be closer to fifty fifty five among the outfielders and around fill out the name game James versus hunter Renfro because I think we all would have Rasoul over Renfro and Bruce, I'm gonna throw this at that he plays in a horrible part for power. That's bad. So hunter Renfro versus Bruce Renfro. Renfro Colquhoun versus Bruce. I think that's really close. It is. And by the way, Cal Calhoun is another guy who's got a good ballpark for a swing. But he's not leading off anymore. So that kills runs if I have to lock them in lock them in its own. Okay. Nick marquess, who people were dropping, but I don't know why he's doing what he did last year overall last year not for the first half second half because I was different halves last year. But Nick cake is on pace for like one hundred runs. Double digit homers, seventy five or b is hitting for average, like that's what the kiss is if you rostrum, why are you cutting? Right. And the shallower the league, the more I'd go pro Bruce, their marquesses Mr..

The Philadelphia Phillies announced that Andrew mccutchen has a tourney yell in his left knee. He's out for the year. Gabe Kappler the Phillies manager, talked about it really disappointing are mentioned it last night, that Andrew has has not just been a catalyst at the top of our lineup a catalyst in our clubhouse, somebody that everybody under that respects greatly. We, we look to him for guidance and support and for that reason. Nice here, Andrew mentioned that he's gonna stick around as much as possible that something that, that I discussed prior to talking to you and basically said, I, I asked him if we want him around much possible, because he makes. Nobody better and his energy is always welcome in our clubhouse. Tim Corcoran was not sportscenter with Kevin Gandhi talking about the impact of this injury on the Phillies lineup. This is a bad loss. Look, he's not the player. He was a few years ago when he won the MVP but he's been a big upgrade defensively in left field. He's the best leadoff hitter on their team. He controls the strike zone. He's great in the clubhouse Jay, Bruce will help, but with Oduber Harare, also having some issues at the moment, the Phillies are in trouble in the outfield and it got much worse today when mccutchen went down and we'll talk about all those issues coming up here as you go along in the podcast today. "The, the Phillies. Andrew mccutchen is now out for the season Tories ACO last night. The Phillies with a very fortuitous move and picking up Jay, Bruce, what in the last two or three days, mccutchen out after he's been working on a nice season after the injury last night? So this is what I wrote about today. I'm going to include you, because I think we as a group need to change the way we approach this team. And I don't think this is I don't think this is being a aggressive or over the top, or, or being drastic here. It's just I think the tone needs to change because it's time twenty seven and thirty two and they accompany last place in the central. Yes, I one and eight start. They have been a winning team. They're twenty six and twenty four in the last fifty in. Yes, they have started to hit. They scored the fifth most runs in baseball back in the month of may. And yes, they produced a winning month of may which doesn't happen often around here at there is still a maddening inability for this team to actually make a run. Put together a winning streak. Get over the five hundred Mark. We've talked about the nine consecutive missed opportunities to pull within three games of five hundred and then they did, and then they had a losing homestand and they're back to five games under five hundred and as I wrote today at seven hundred wwl w dot com. I'm tired of hearing, they will or or they should or just wait. It's coming. I'm I'm worn out by the one run losses. I'm tired of, and I'm wearing a captain item tired of tipping, Mike cap to the opposing pitchers, and I think done pointing out the run differential. I appreciate run differential. I understand what it means. They've scored thirty six more runs in their opposition. I'm done pointing that out in using that, as a reason to believe the reds are better than this. I think it's time to change. The message from the owner working down front office. The manager the players, Nicole include the media, and you. Because it's time for this team to go there expected won loss record right now. He's thirty four and twenty five. It's time for this team to play like that. Not play like it's playing their twenty seven and thirty two based on the run differential based on the expectations of that they are expected to be at this point thirty four in two thousand five. I think it's time for this team to play like that. And for all involved to state that in demand that this is the baseball equivalent of moving day in Gulf. It's time for the players to go out and do. They are a winning streak away from making serious noise in the National League central division. But there also a cubs or brewers winning streak away from being put away. Fortunately, for the reds through this most recent stretch like the cubs are seven and twelve in their last nineteen games. The brewers are ten and ten in their last twenty games. I've said this before, and I'll say it again, say it now, the rookie manager doesn't get enough credit for his touch in navigating. This ship through turbulent waters. But I think for one for David Bethel, I think it's time to shift his relaxed tone. And I'm not saying that in a derogatory way I understand. I think it's time for him to shift that relaxed tone of patience and support to a more demanding sense of urgency. I heard the other night talk about the it was on Saturday, lost track of the days because I was under the covers for many of them, I've heard him talk about the opportunities missed. And they didn't drive in runs, but he was talking with Tommy throw in the pre game. And he said, but man so long as we keep getting those opportunities, I believe it's going to click. I get that. And I get that form of optimism. But we're fifty nine games in in. Maybe he saying behind closed doors. Hey blank blank we need to do blank blank? I just know as a whole, I think, everything needs to change in how we are presenting this team and around look if this team, I think it's time for the owner of the front office to reinforce the fact that we are fifty seven days away from the trade deadline, and that's going to go a long way toward determining the fate of this roster. Come July thirty first the list of walk, your players on this team guys could find themselves. Elsewhere, next year if not August, first of this year is a lengthy one that list includes Yasuko peak in Alex, would if anybody could find him to trade him attain. A Roark Jose Iglesias Zach Duke, David Hernandez, scooter Jeanette all of those players are in the final year, the contracts. It's time for the. Players to play to the back of their baseball cards, and to deliver what was expected of them, and maybe maybe this ultimately doesn't happen. Maybe the rates don't have a run in them. Maybe this is in fact, who they are. But as I wrote today on the blog, it's time. As if I could quote Star Wars. And I thought it'd be the last person to quote Star Wars as Yoda once famously said, do or do not there is no try. And I think we're guilty of presenting this team is almost like the little team, the little engine that could it all men? They're fighting in there scrapping in their they're getting close to five hundred and it's going to happen. And they're gonna get over the five hundred Mark and they're fun. And they get along great chemistry. Yeah. They're a little bit frustrating. But I know it's going to happen. We've said that for fifty nine games, and I'm not saying that now we have to change, and be mad and angry and not like the reds in the world is ending. But I do believe it would help to some extent, if from the top all the way down to you. We stopped presenting this team that way. Because fun in getting along in scrappy in that frustrating team. But they'll win tomorrow night. They'll find a way has gotten them wear. They're in last place. They're still in last place. And I know there's a lot of frustration with that, that maddening inability to win seven in a row. How many times dollar for every time we've said oh, if they could just, you know, win seven zero eight at ten nine to twelve bull. How many times do you say that before you stop? And wonder why are we still saying this? It's almost like we're pushing him from behind to help like you can do it. We can do we're going to do this. Maybe the sense of urgency in the demands need to be ramped up from ownership down to the manager, instead of saying, whether it's publicly or privately with his team man, as long as we're getting those opportunities, I know were eventually going to cash in autumn. Maybe it's got to be something like this. We can't keep wasting opportunities like this. We can't keep wasting some of the best pitching in baseball. I can't have in the most Homer, happy now he's not going to say this publicly in the most Homer happy month in the history of baseball. I can't have my highest paid player hitting one home run. I know he's not going to say that I get that. But I think you kinda know where I'm coming from from what you call in to say about them how I present it. How the players even. We'll talk publicly about know it's going to happen. We feel good. What we're going to get out of all the manager does that the owner does that the general manager does that everybody's doing that. What has that done to this point? Does that make sense? Or am I over the top out of my mind? And maybe I'm hallucinating based on the, the first of two z packs, currently working on it. I'm working on very little sleep. So maybe just deliberate and make no sense whatsoever. But it hit me today, because I started to plan out what we're going to talk about. I said my goodness. How many times have we said the same thing about this team fun to watch, but man, they're frustrating because they'll do it one nine they won't do it. The next night. Classic example was this weekend. You knew you were going to have to wait on Sunday against the guy name. Freddie, the nationals guy because you were getting scarcer on Sunday. What did they go go? And do they win late at eight on Saturday? Putting them behind the proverbial eight ball which they were never going to get out from behind ensures her how much longer does that happen before somebody changes the talking points and says, hey, this can't keep happening. Maybe that's the night your calls next. Let's check news home of the rates NewsRadio seven hundred wwl too. "When I didn't even ask them to. Excellent. Tweet from Rachel. All right. So last night, Andrew mccutchen gets injured running the bases on this really strange play. He immediately goes down the ground. Immediately comes out of the game. He spoke with reporters after the game is that his manager gave Kappler about the situation. Copper. Some of the fed uncomfortable, some that made me grandma new now I've had I've had it before. I know what that feels like. So this just didn't feel like that. But when I did it in high school, I was playing football. So. Invested difference that his time did something on my own. So I don't know necessarily fessing good or what? But it wasn't. It wasn't something that, you know, I felt like it was so much painted. I can't bear it. I just knew in, I just didn't feel too good knee spring, will not no more tomorrow after an MRI. And that's all I have for you on that now based on that. And what gave Kappler said and based on the fact that late last night him. Andrew mccutchen, tweeted out, pray for me, please. I think they already know what's going on here, and it certainly doesn't sound very good. Yeah. And this is if he's injured as badly as he might be. And this is obviously terrible news for the Phillies and cut in is still above average defensive left fielder. He's their leadoff guy. He still works account really, really well controls the strike zone, really well, and if he's going to be out for a while, they get hurt defensively, and obviously, they get hurt offense at a time where their center fielder. Oduber Harare's still in some trouble in some way, shape, or form until for at least another couple of weeks. They got Jay Bruce to help out but they have some issues plus they've lost a bunch of games in a row. They're only a half game up their visit now this is not the time for an injury to the Phillies especially to a key veteran player who doesn't just play. Well on the field but has lots to do with how well that clubhouse. Yeah. And Tim, I, I would never try to pretend that he's the same player that he was when he won the MVP award, the nationally. What was it six years ago? But he's a really good player. And when you look at what he does for the Phillies. He's been perfect lie as of today, and of course, he's numbers are going to change because he's going to be out a while at his current pace, he would have finished the year with one hundred twenty two runs. One hundred fifty one hits one hundred sixteen walks. With an on base percentage of three seventy eight I talked to him at spring training about leading off the Phillies. He, he said, I love it because all I have to do is if it's in the strike zone, I'll swing. And if it's not in the strikes on I don't swing, he's a great command of the strike zone. And if there without that for awhile in front of Bryce Harper Reese, Hoskins, and the other guys in that lineup. That's a huge hole for them. And, and I don't even know the trade market, where they could go to get that type of player who is so perfect for them. Right. And again they have other issues in their outfield. Bryce Harper at another over last night. They, so they've got some work to do, and they're gonna have extra work to do if mccutchen it's going to be out for a while. Because to repeat, he's exactly what they need at the top of that order. Yeah. And I said yesterday about the Jay, Bruce trade for the Phillies that I didn't get it. You know someone who's doesn't have a lot of flexibility position wise. And obviously now Jay Bruce avenue more natural spot with Andrew mccutchen out. But he's not at the top of the order guy being a two, eighty on base percentage or two eighty eight on base percentage as Phillies acquire them and he probably will take up a lot of the plankton left behind by Andrew mccutchen. Right. Tim, I left Yankee Stadium the two days around that team first off absolutely amazed by team..

"To two. So that's great for the Padres, even now is here looking at the NFL west they've got to win every game. They possibly can because the dodgers are already up to forty two wins and have been doing their best to put the distance between themselves and the rest of the division. So right now they're up by nine at a half games over the Rockies and the Padres. Then another game back though. All three teams are above five hundred but more notable from this game. Well, in addition to Machado's first grand slam in San Diego uniform Andrew mccutchen, left the game with some type of a knee injury in the first inning. So he was caught in a pickle caught in a rundown. And trying to cut and go back and forth. And maybe a void the tag and he planted on that left knee, and then quickly kind of spun and pull it up in the air and grabbed it like he was in a lot of pain. Now, the Phillies are saying it's a sprained left knee for their center fielder, but he'll have an MRI on Tuesday, and not that long ago, mccutchen, himself, tweeted, pray for me, please. So that was just three hours ago as they were on the west coast and San Diego. So it's just a sprained left knee likely you're not asking for the prayers of social media, and people that you don't know. So that makes my stomach toward a little bit just. Because he's had some knee injuries in the past, and it would stink severely. If his season was cut short by something like a or or something else. But it's it's not good to spec. I not speculate him just saying. I hope it's not that and it's just a sprain. We'll find.

Will Bryce Harper to worth his $330 million contract with the Phillies?

"You know, three hundred thirty million dollars at dominated the headlines in the off season, although we would have hoped it'd happened earlier. It finally happened and Bryce Harper is a Philly. I gotta talk to you write about expectation as it comes for Bryce here. And what does Phillies seem Kennedy chief because if you looked team that Bryce left is probably still the favourite in the you know, that being the nationals how much pressures on this guy. What's reasonable, and what do you expect from the Phillies? Well, I mean, you know, aside from Bryce Harper before they ever got rice Harper. I think they quietly got themselves. Very much better. Like you. You look at between getting the trade for g JT rail dog getting Andrew mccutchen. And they just they dressed a lot of issues to get better. And I think you know, it's it's gonna be interesting, but three hundred thirty million dollars for one. Wow. It's a lot. When you finished in the basement, it's natural line. Listen while the Marlins technically we're in the basement, but I get what you're talking. Yeah. I mean, I've been there. I've lived at that puts tremendous pressure on your team, and the crazy part is he's the general manager. He's not even a cope to has in there with the day to day with the battle. And it happened to answer questions Corson's. Every picturing Mickey saying come get us. Yeah. See how baseball works affiliate signed all the good for you agents. Win the division. Okay. But devil's advocate here, right? The Phillies have talked big game this off season. What are they actually done? They've actually spent sorta stupid money on Andrew mccutchen because they did money that was stupid. That was stupid. It was too much and they signed Dave Robertson, and they traded first cigarroa. So they've had it. They've had an okay off season so far. But the fact that they've been linked to kimbrel to kaikal. The fact that Bob Nightingale of USA today said either Manny or Bryce will be on their roster opening day or both. I mean, well, I think they've nothing no pen to paper yet, though, we ever really seen anything, but I would say to Brody even if they don't sign all those guys extolling the Phillies are looking pretty good. I still think that I don't think there's a coming get us. I don't think that's having the effect that he is intending it to have like pumping up his own team. It's actually putting this massive bowls. He need to say that in a team meeting. He'll need to be saying that us because he knows is going to get tracked. And he has to understand how this thing works. He wanted to end the difference is between the Phillies. Yes, they haven't signed anyone. But they have ruled anyone out to a still hope is no hope for the Mets to get harbor is no hope for the Mets to get Machado. We know they're not even in the market for them. They're good right now. Too many outfielder Jeff McNeil's blocking Bryce Harper and Todd Frazier Jedi are gosh. Look, I understand you want Bryce Harper. We got camp Braxton. Okay. You're welcome. You remember last year? What was the last year when the Yankees got off stand? What was it? We have come forward Nimmo remember with Mojo now that didn't wanna trade. He didn't want to part with them on a tray. And that was that was sandy being somewhat facetious. These joke. We had.

"andrew mccutchen" Discussed on The Short Porch

"To the first. The portrait. What's up? What's happening? Welcome to another of the short porch. I'm host hubs alongside me in the same room today. My co-host the vape guy the cost of cloud. Tommy, smokes Thomas Kelly. What's happening, man? Not much. I'm just bored of nothing happening in major league. Baseball needs to be a deadline. I was thinking that too. But then I was like, I don't know how that could possibly work. It doesn't. There's no deadline. Any other sport right now? Not like free agency deadly. This is insane. Yeah. I think aim should his last year Boris is having all clients, wait and do waiting. It seems like Andrew mccutchen signed his three year fifty million dollar deal with Phillies three years ago. I was thinking like I don't think it could happen because it probably hurts the players more teams. And I don't think you realize that Bush doesn't realize that like it's just hurting players. Yeah. But that's a twenty three million dollar deal. A deadline would definitely hurt the players. Oh, it'd be like you have to sign off. You're saying or what is the deadline mean like you have to sign by then or you can't play next year. They'll be like, okay. Whatever we don't care and the players will be screw it wouldn't work. But it's just like, I it's just complaining. Like, yes. This is ridiculous. Yeah. We were told Manny Machado was not going to sign until the new year. Well, it's been the new year for eight days. And like I thought this would be done the longer. Wait. I tweeted out last night sights nights ago when you listen this that I've conceded that he's going to another team. And really I said it, but it's more just like you just want to tell yourself that. I want to tell myself that and braced myself when he doesn't sign because I think the best things in life aren't free that saying is the best things in life that things you don't expect to happen. And then they do when you given up hope, and then they do happen. That's the best like like like applying for plying here at barstool like setting him, sending an Email KMart. Hey, I wanna be your answer didn't think fucking. I almost forgot about why sent Email three. Later. You wanna come in for best thing in the world happened? Right. So it's like kind of gear myself towards that. Do I still deep down half faith? Yeah. Because we're going into the whole my hatred with Chicago White Sox. But I just don't see how player willingly wanna play in South Asia Kogyo being second fiddle to the cubs and being on a team that's gonna win maybe eighty games with you. I just don't see how that's appetizing. There's no draw. Like, there's no why would you wanna play city? I guess. But no. And understand why talk. They was explained to me. I'm sure he was drunk whatever. But this was like Saranac. He's trying to interrupt eating though. Let's we're no not absolutely not. But he was like, oh, they don't live in Inglewood. If I know what Inglewood is. And he's like they live in the mansions on on, blah, blah street. I'm like good for them. But like still you're not a cub. Like, everyone loves the cubs Kogyo like sure that the White Sox have their fan base. But like you wanna be on the cubs. If you play three Kogyo and like history, like Wrigley Ville wriggly, right? And they just wanna World Series. All then like the White Sox what's appealing if they offer the biggest spe track, right, which purportedly they have not. They really. They have offer the White Sox of an official offer. But it's reportedly in the two hundred million then this is Nightingale reporting. This God knows where it could be zero dollars. There could be no off because be a joke. But. The report is that it's it's it's near the two hundred dollar number and not three hundred. And he said that it's not something that he's going to get on a flight from from Miami to Chicago and sign, you know, so that gave me a sense of ease. And then there's the rumor that he's out the game. Chuck NATO is is trying to dig a sources game. And he thinks he thinks he's at the game with their owner turns out completely false even if he wasn't game. He would have been I'm not playing city. They're cursed. These guys stinking weather stinks. I don't want anything part of it..
