"andrew mccutchen" Discussed on You're Wrong... And Here's Why
"The year and they have twelve blown saves and that actually may have gone up because the other night of the blown save that they had that they were forced to then come back in the bottom of the ninth inning to actually win which is amazing because I was officially out on the team for the year and then of course in the bottom of the ninth they came back in one but but it's hard to blame the manager for that and we'll get into the not hustling thing which to me is such such a weird contrived storyline and it all stems back to Philly radio poking the bear regarding the Andrew mccutchen injury. I think you're look I'm I'm the first person to knock Philadelphia sports radio because it is often times ridiculous and I didn't. I didn't really understand that until I had a little bit of experience listening to other places and I'm not gonna say that Bay Area Sports Talk Radio is perfect but oh my God I got out here and I'm like wait a second. They're not just saying dumb things to say things and yelling at each other other what what is this what this isn't sports radio and then I realized overnight Philadelphia sports radio is just garbage. It's terrible and it was a contrived storyline that that ends up festering and festering spring and now every time something happens where somebody may not run something out at some big ordeal and it's been this way since the Times of Jimmy Rollins in Ryan Howard and the glory days of the Phillies in the last twenty plus years. It's it's it's baffling to me to think that because gene Segarra who fell coming out of the box when Wong and hit that that pop fly to second base he clearly trip and fell in Kinzler made the heads up play of letting the ball oil droplets get Makuuchi now get him off the base path and unfortunately a guy in his early thirties blew his knee out. You know I mean it's baffling but I don't think the effort here on the base pass which is what everybody wants to focus on is necessarily the problem with the phillies and it all goes back to pitching scoring bruns fell apart when mccutchen left and that's obvious he's the former M._v._p.. who was at the top of your lineup and having a stellar year sort of you know unexpectedly? I don't think anybody really expected him to be as productive. He was prior to him going out when the phillies signed him. It felt sort of a lukewarm. Hey let's give this a shot kind of thing and then maybe we'll bring a young guy up if he doesn't work out I mean you also feels like every every time we get something going. Someone goes down recently Jay Bruce who's been a sort of a godsend to the phillies he goes down with an oblique strain. It's it's just everything continues to pile up for us and and I can't blame that all on Kappler I blame the front office more. We talked about it the other night during the debacle. That was the top of the ninth inning against the dodgers. We talked about a regarding regarding guys. were out there to secure. You're pitching staff. You know you know you have a small window in baseball when it comes to sustaining any sort of success and for a guy like Craig Kimbrel to go deepen the season Dallas Kaikal to go deep into the season and not even really get serious consideration from what it feels like from this front office that wanted to spend stupid money to win. Again is a little bit concerning. These injuries didn't happen after these guys signed and it's like Oh shucks. Maybe we should've thought of that. These injuries were happening from week. One and two of the season I mean who could have thought that a guy like Craig Craig Kimbrel Cook could have helped this bullpen. That's been absolutely terrible terrible..

"One. Now, the injury news comes from Andrew mccutchen, the outfielder suffered a knee sprain, during a run down in the first inning this after a crazy play with it on first, gene, cigars pop fly was dropped on purpose to try to get a double play and makuuchi was caught in the rundown went down held his name. "You know, this has been kind of the standard lineup really for, for a lot of the season here with the exception of doable, Harare, now being out. But you're looking at Andrew mccutchen, leading off gene Sikora heading second. You know, interestingly enough, gene cigar now under the three hundred Mark, he's cooled off a tough series against the cardinals. He ended up going over three last night did score a run. But he's down to ninety six right now. We'll be hitting second playing shortstop Bryce Harper with the big home run last night. Unfortunately. It wasn't able to carry the Phillies to a victory. But as we mentioned a little bit earlier, he's red hot of ladies, the average up to two fifty two with eleven home runs and forty three runs driven in Reese, Hoskins will clean up and play first JT, real Mutoko, who seems never get a day off will be catching and hitting fifth, Scott Kingery will be in center field. So Kingery in center field for Oduber Harare. Cesar Hernandez will had seventh play second base by keleaf. Rocco who has been stone cold of late will hit in that eight whole? He's hitting to ten now at eight home runs and thirty RBI's a far cry from the way started the season off. That's for sure Nicoletta on a hill for the Phillies. Yeah. And if you didn't see last night. The Phillies fightback Bryce Harper has that big home run in the eighth to run shot, the tided up at three but unfortunately Hector Narus gives up a home run to Will Smith. Which ends the game for the Phillies Wilson a rookie who, who had his first major league home run in the Phillies in Philly. Certainly looking to hang on today for the dodgers. It'll be Jack Petersen leading off max Muncie playing third hitting second Cory Seager shorts that hitting third Cody Bellinger, who has been the MVP certainly so far this season in the National League Alice Alex Verdoux Dougal will hit fifth, and play centerfield that will play first base and had six Taylor. Utility man, extraordinaire will be playing second base and hitting seventh Russell Martin back with the dodgers. We'll hit eight and catch and Richhill on the mound for the dodgers weatherwise not surprising. Looks good injury. Why? So it looks like Tommy hunter may be getting close to getting back for the Phillies. He throws. Bullpen session yesterday Roman Quinn, five ABC's and extended spring training on Saturday. You can count on Roman Quinn, but Phillies bullpen could use some arm. So getting hundred back could be a good sign. We'll see what the update is on a Morgan if they give any kind of information on David Robertson. As well on the sixty day injured list, but we know certainly that they could use the bodies. That's for sure. Phillies look salvage this when they go to San Diego after that, I wanna thank Steve McFadden did an excellent job producing the program stay tune Jim Jackson on deck, and then it is Scott Francy and Kevin Franson with the call Phillies and the dodgers gained three we'll see if neck pa- Vata can answer the bell. They certainly could use them without a doubt after a tough start to his first inning. But then he settled in, but this is certainly a far cry with this difficult lineup that the dodgers will throw out to you. I will talk to you guys later in the week against Jim Jackson after that, it is gained time from LA Phillies and the dodgers. Enjoy.
Harper homers again to lead Phillies' sweep of Braves
"This waiting. He's got it at Phillies have a season opening three games. Sweep for their division rivals. The Atlanta Braves five to one the final tonight as the Phillies. Will Bryce Harper to worth his $330 million contract with the Phillies?
"You know, three hundred thirty million dollars at dominated the headlines in the off season, although we would have hoped it'd happened earlier. It finally happened and Bryce Harper is a Philly. I gotta talk to you write about expectation as it comes for Bryce here. And what does Phillies seem Kennedy chief because if you looked team that Bryce left is probably still the favourite in the you know, that being the nationals how much pressures on this guy. What's reasonable, and what do you expect from the Phillies? Well, I mean, you know, aside from Bryce Harper before they ever got rice Harper. I think they quietly got themselves. Very much better. Like you. You look at between getting the trade for g JT rail dog getting Andrew mccutchen. I know is not necessarily the MVP player, but he's still a very solid major league player and at times plays like an MVP to go there and get you know, Roberson in the bullpen and to do the things they did, gene sicker. They really tightened their team up. And then you go add star power and a guy middle lineup. I think they're going to be a tremendous team when I look at the division. I know the Mets got better. The Braves are good last year. I look at the Phillies is the favourite. I I just think what their starting rotation one through five they they have some solid performers there. And they just they dressed a lot of issues to get better. And I think you know, it's it's gonna be interesting, but three hundred thirty million dollars for one. Wow. It's a lot. The last couple years later. Yeah. It sure does is better. We're that

"It's eleven o'clock on a Saturday morning in the Delaware. Valley's fifty eight degrees here. It's probably twenty degrees. Warmer and water. That's where Todd's Alexi is. And I love this time of year. And I love talking to Todd's lucky this time of year because Todd Ray, and I have tremendous optimism about this team right now, not even gonna get to the guys. That are unsigned yet. We liked this Phillies squad. We think they had a what was the word. The man the GM us the other day objectively excellent off season is that what it was. Or something like that was very close with that assessment. Yeah. I do think that they had a very good offseason. So far when you when you look at everything that they've done, and I really think the addition of material last week or two went down two weeks ago now almost two weeks ago. What was he he is arguably the best pitcher in baseball? Behind the plate. Ride the camp today. We just got done talking to him. He's been one of the better shortstops fall over the past three seasons. We know the production at shortstop last season was it was amongst the worst in all of baseball. You know, you get rid of Carlos in Canada. You move back to first base Andrew mccutchen who you know. He's not an MVP caliber player right now. But numbers of TV. He's actually still been a very good hit over the past few years. Plus David Robertson in the back in the bullpen. And and they really have kind of short up a lot of deficiencies in and made a lot of improvements, and you know, the their theory is if the rest of their young guys continue to take a step forward the mandate should be in the thick of the playoffs. A lot was said and. Gave capper was saying this in before he went down to Clearwater was. He was and I guess he kind of had this discussion with a Deuba Herrera. At the end of last season was and they kind of sent the message we need you to come into camp in shape next year and a little more grown up and ready to really play because I think they were very unhappy. With the way he reported last year and a kind of continued on through the season. I get the feeling Todd just based on what I've seen read so far that it seems like he did show up with a did show up looking better. And he seemed to have a better, healthier attitude. Yeah. He definitely wants to be in better shape. I remember last spring. He kinda head. Yesterday. A bit of a gut almost a little bit of a crunch down there. And he he looked like firmer yesterday record to him. He talked about, you know, the maturity of person growing up or kind, and you know, just words right now, you know, I hadn't really heard of talk like that in the past. So to me that was a little notable. I think he knows it. He had a bad year last year. And I think he also does a couple of things one is. It's a crowded outfield right now. And he knows that last season. He lost playing time the Roman Queen and centerfield and only Davey lose playing time, but they moved him over to right field. So I think he recognizes the fact that with Andrew mccutchen last with Nick Williams and Wolman Queen Anne, Arundel tear. He's going to have to play well to play. I really I think right now we interest spring training is the number to outfielder. Why he also knows okay? If I struggle again if I played bad if I don't play better defense in the outfield. You know, I I I might lose some playing time. And I think he's I think he's too. I think he also knows that if this team wants to win, you know, they need him to play. Well, and I think he recognizes his importance to the team overall. Well, let's get back to the off seasons move. They made by the way, we're talking to Todd's unlucky of MLB dot com. You can follow him on Twitter at Todd's Zolak. Ezio L E C K I. Our friend. Jason start did a did a piece earlier this week in the ethnic and talked to I don't know forty fifty coaches GM scouts around baseball and asked him a series of questions. One was what do you think the best off season? Trade was number one. They had real Mutoko to the Philly's got the most votes number two was gene Sequeira to the Phillies. The real mutual one seems a no brainer to all of us. Real. This one I got a question for you. Which is I really like he can hit he can take walk. He can field. But he's moved around a lot over the years. And that just not knowing the guy gives me a little pause. Is there something there? I need to know about well, you know, last season late last season. You got that big brawl clubhouse brawl with Gordon who, you know? Most people will say is one of the nicest greatest guys baseball. I there was that last year. I heard you can be really at times or booty at times. So I don't know if those traits are because you know, he just kind of wears self out with teams and teams just want to move out move on from him. Or if it's because as he pointed out today, you know, most of those teams they got trained for rebuilding or or or whatever at that particular time. Now, certainly the Mariners. You know, they treated Robinson how they traded NYPD as they treated teams packs, and so it's not like Jean cigarettes the only guy treated from the members last year. So I I, but I, but I do think the fact they can't do a big fight with Gordon. His time had come to an end. We asked him about that today the flight and the perception of him here of him. And he says, listen, I'm not a fighter. Nothing. I go looking for you know, I I think I'm a pretty good guy. It's over he says, sometimes you just end up fighting with he described it as a fight like you would fight with your brother. And then once you fight with your, brother know. I don't know how true that is. I don't know if you can Dee Gordon with Chile till if they southern Phillips on the street today or not, but I do know that, you know, the Phillies. Feel like they did enough background work on him talk to enough people before they made the trade, and and they're comfortable with them. And they really better be comfortable with them because he's he's signed through two thousand twenty two. So he's expected to be the team shortstop were there for the next several years. I know there's more moves to be made. And and everybody's kind of indicated that that there are still expecting something can happen including on the Harper Machado front. But if if I were to ask you right now, where do you think score is gonna hit in this lineup. Do you think he's going to hit how high up do you think he's going to because I saw the Gabe was talking a little bit got into conversation about Hernandez yesterday. And he still sees Hernandez is a productive leadoff hitter. Where if that's really the case where do you see Segarra falling in the lineup. I could see him hitting second right now because he's a high. He's a really big contact guy. So I guess in. Still a lot of basis on if he gets on base and because he can run well with cigarettes a guy that can put the ball in play that could potentially maybe at least advanced the runner potentially score the runner. So that makes a lot of sense to me the three hole hitter depends. If we just talked about, Harare, Harare is the harangue that has been his first three seasons in the first month and a half of last year, he can make some some sense of number three spot, and he every time considering fourth or you know, what actually JT bluetooth actually is probably my three hole header he he's he's a right handed hitter. But if you look at his splits you actually hits right handed pitching pretty well. So he's almost kind of like this. Lefty, but you kind of can hit you can hit right? He's well enough. So I think you kind of proof houses the number three guy Hopkins four and mccutchen v. Definitely just lineup is a heck of a lot deeper than it was last year. Absolutely. So I'm not gonna ask you to project Harper Machado because nobody knows, but I will add there's there's there's two aspects of this that I kind of want to ask you about one is as long as this continues. There is uncertainty in the you know that line if you're getting your giving, obviously changes, and it means uncertainty for certain guys what their job Nick Williams, doesn't know if he's going to be here or not or. Quin or whatever some somebody's the chip's gonna fall. And then the second one the second part of the question is when does guys signed does that free up the backlog of how many unsigned free agents now seventy five hundred whatever do those dominoes start to fall. And how could that fall the Phillies way? Yes. So in terms of the first quarter. Yeah. I think there's a lot of uncertainty to us right now. You know, these guys are pretty much everybody has been asked. You know, what do you think about Harper Machado? You know, how much how big of a blues would that be and for a guy like Nick Williams for guy like Michael Franco, there's a lot of uncertainty because you know, I've been told that. Yeah. And it is obvious. Right. But if they signed Manny Machado Placer bait Michael frugal almost has to be traded somewhere because he's not a utility player. He's not going to be like, Scott King ary. So they're gonna go with Scott King, raise utility guy. So Mike Al Franken has to be trade. So he comes into camp seems to be in really good shape. Really good, positive attitude. But he knows well if they signed any next week probably gone, Nick Williams, you know, he's same thing. I he's kind of you don't really need another left handed bat on. So he could be gone. You could be traded. I guess potentially. A doable Harare could be traded. He's another left handed outfielder. So there isn't that uncertainty there in terms of the rest of the Domino's? Yeah. I think that. You know, there are some teams out there are employers out there that are kind of maybe waiting for Harper Machado to sign because teams that for instance, a team that might be in on both players are on one player. You know, if they fail to get one of those two guys now, they might sit there and go. Okay. Well, we lost out on those two guys. Maybe we if we can't add to our offense Fisher, maybe we can add. Yeah, we can add to our intervention. So maybe now we give some of that money to Craig kimbrel. Or maybe we give some of that money to to Dallas kaikal. I think there's a chance to Phillies could do that. If they would somehow get shut out on both of those guys, but you know..
Discussion of the happenings at the MLB Winter Meetings 2018
"Yankees. Mets Marlins deal that would involve JT real Muto Noah Syndergaard Miguel and do Har. I'm Ed Rosario. Couple other moving parts real Muto into any with the Mets. The. Yenkey would end up with Noah, Syndergaard, not sure really what the Marlins would get besides Ahmed Rosario would have to be a lot more than just that for them to give up JT real Muto. I mean, no question about that. So it just comes down to just what's fun going on there at the winter meetings. We're going to check in in Las Vegas momentarily. But I'll tell you what it's just always fun to see the rumors, and how about this one, Lance Lynn. Gets three year thirty million dollar contract. I must be getting old here, but the amount of money that teams throw around on mediocre players is stunning yesterday. We talked about Andrew mccutchen whose past his prime getting fifteen million dollars a year. Now, you're talking about Lance Lynn getting ten million dollars a year. Now, it's a step back from the twelve million you made last year, but still he's not crying poverty making ten million dollars a year as an average pitcher coming off a season with a four point seven seventy IRA. Lance Lind's were ten million dollars. You can't be serious. Producer Shawn Watson Makia. Lance Lynn's a ten million dollar player in today. You're getting from the Yankees this year. Eight and a half is it. So then yeah is worth ten million dollars. Yeah. Is he worth more than of course, a bath is thirty eight and going on thirty nine these finished. But still had a better here than Lance Lynn. Right better longer. That's true. That's true. I wouldn't give in ten million a year if that's the case. So here's what I don't understand yet. What's the market going to be like for the closers like these relievers? Right. What's the market gonna be like for them? I think the market has gotten bigger and bigger for relief pitchers. And I just think that honestly like when you're the Andrew Miller's of the out of venos- or the kimbrough's or the David Robertson's Zach Britain's of the world, what's the money to be like for those guys because are they more valuable than a Lance Lynn in today's baseball. Right. Yeah. Right. I mean, are they more valuable? They are right. Well, let's in is reliever. Well, don't forget that. Well, but he's more starter. Right. He can do both. He could eat. Yeah. But I think they're bringing them in to be a starter. I would think. I think that's why you're gonna pay Lance Lynn ten million bucks. It's not my money though. That's the funny thing it's not my money. But it's just always like unfathomable to me when I look at the amount of money. Some of these players end up getting it just really incredible. I don't think we'd have the law jam like we had last year. You remember Lance Lynn didn't sign too late. He was one of those guys that was taking part of that crazy camp in Bradenton Florida the free agent training camp. Remember the spring training for the the free agent players. So he at least has signed early it. Seems that look I think what's interesting is when you talk about Manny Machado, and you talk about a Bryce Harper. You could eliminate ninety five percent of the teams in baseball from being involved in that. Right. I you know, that there's going to be ninety ninety five percent teams that are not gonna get involved. And those guys are already shopping in that bargain-basement been they're the ones that look at a Lance Lynn and say, hey, maybe there's good value there. That's the market for those guys. So I think the question's going to be for the big market teams. That may be interested in a Bryce Harper. Manny Machado when are they going to put some pressure on? The Scott Boris is the world saying, look, we gotta get something done here. Because in the meantime, other guys are signing elsewhere, right? If you're looking for an outfielder and Bryce Harper's who you've looked at and you end up not getting Bryce Harper who's going to be. Left on the market in two or three weeks, depending on when he's going to decide to sign at some point. You say, okay, we got a pivot away because we haven't gotten any word. Do we sign the Andrew McCarthy since the Phillies, frankly, did they make a statement by signing mccutchen? Which is. Yeah, we'll go and get ourselves the infielder Machado. But maybe we're not going to go after Bryce Harper. Like a lot of people say we are. Or are we going to now go out and spend another ridiculous amount of money and get Bryce Harper. We've brought in two new outfielders into the mix with Andrew mccutchen. And Bryce Harper. That's the interesting thing to me when you look at what's happening because I think teams don't wanna be used against each other. Right. Nobody wants to be put into a bidding war, and that's exactly where Scott Boras makes his money. He wants a bidding war for Bryce Harper. He wants a bidding war first clients. And the fact is a bidding war, though takes time. And if you have a bidding war teams going to get involved, and because the money is going to be so incredibly large. Then if you're willing to go thirty to thirty five million dollars a year on Bryce Harper, and you don't end up getting him. And then you have to pivot quickly away the warriors what's still left on the market by the time. I'm eliminated from the Harper competition or what's going to be left. If I'm looking for a shortstop slash third baseman wants Manny Machado signs, and I'm left holding the bag and the other names out. There are Freddie Galvez, and I'll Sita's Escobar and a Denny hetch of Iria guys who can't hit a lick. So I think that's what teams have to weigh here. Sean in terms of what exactly they need to do and getting involved with the big names, and how long are they willing to sit there and kind of have that money sitting there in escrow because they don't want obviously go out and start using it on other players to Bryce Harper makes a decision. They might be like crap we spent too much. We can't make that deal for Bryce Harper. Well, I mean, that's a possibility. But I don't see that happening. Because teams have an idea about Bryce Harper. They're talking to Scott Boris. They know if he has interest, so they're going to save the money until they hear his final answer. Yeah. But then they may hurt themselves. That is true. That's the problem. They may be hurting themselves. See I think the Phillies as much as I think they overpaid for Andrew mccutchen. Right. I think what the Phillies are looking at is. Look we need to outfielders. We're going to be in the Bryce Harper sweepstakes. Because we have a lot of money to spend. We got fifteen million dollars on the books this year and outfield with Andrew mccutchen. We can still fit another thirty thirty five million with Bryce Harper. Maybe another thirty million with Manny Machado, whatever it is. And maybe they can go out and make a big splash with everything. Right. That's the team that I think is going to be intriguing because if there's any team that potentially will go out and we'll get not just Harper, but also Machado. It's the Phillies. There's no other team in baseball right now, you can see spending money to bring in both Harper Machado and adding sixty to seventy million dollars payroll. The only team that can absorb that type of hit is affiliate because their payroll number isn't very high for next year. That would be fascinating, Sean. If the Philadelphia Phillies come out of the winter meetings or come out of the two thousand eighteen year, and they have signed Harper and Machado. And by the way, it's not crazy to think they could do it. Seriously. Heard that too. It is crazy that signing both of those guys. Why not? Why not six million? In two players for the next ten years. Yeah. They got the money. Got the money crazy. Seriously. They got the money to do it. Why not love to see it happen? I seven hundred million. Yeah, they're not doing that. I don't remember the Phillies are about to start their own regional networks soon to okay. They have a terrible TV deal. They're about to start their own regional network. To me be interesting to find out what that means financially. Because I thought there a big market team people show up at citizens Bank park, the Phillies, you know, are they make money. The question is if they get their regional network, they can be making a heck of a lot more money. If that's the case. Yes. Seven hundred million dollars over the next ten years from shadow and Harper, and you know, how packed the stands. No question about it for ten years going with those two big names. All right. So what did Tony LaRussa say backing up Harold Baines for a hall of fame induction? We'll tell you next going deep. Dan, Schwartzman, NBC sports radio in the NBC sports radio mobile app.

When I feel like coconut helps you fell off the pitch is normally miss. Balls strikes outs Torres it first to nothing New York. Top of the second price is ready. Price. Swing and a high fly ball slicing down the left side that won towards the quarter and that wants slicing and goes foul. Partner just reaching out poking that one the other way not a lot of foul space down that line. It's either fair or into the seats by large. If it's hanging up in the year that long. Left field is a nightmare. If you're an outfielder I feel like at Fenway. I know it's not a ton of room to cover, but just dealing with the green monster and no foul territory. Take your body out. He tried to go after a foul ball. Ready against small lead for Torres. But two. That won miss inside. And I mean, everybody on the field fledged that giant. Van Beleno missed that one. I don't think. So I think it was off the plate on the inside. What do you think the front door cutter? And that's pretty much exactly where David price wants it. But he needs that call. Start at the front. Hip Gardner, ended up maybe on the corner a little off. Now. Price deals to high ball four and a good at bat. As Gardner coaxes. The walk. With two outs back toback walks to aboard for Andrew mccutchen. Daniela? Banji the pitching coach will head out to the mound or scouting report. I can't believe it really favor one way or the other slightly to the pitchers advantage. If anything in fact in terms of called strikes Joe Kelly is up at throwing in the bullpen for the Boston Red Sox. So. Alex Cora not gonna be shocked about going to pan and try to win this game. I think the one of the things you contemplate is their offense. He's not going to be shy about hanging in there. Because he knows that his team could score some runs. So he's not going to be scared about going to get them. Price deals. Swing and a miss from Kachin. One eight mccutchen grounded. Third. His first time up. A month ago? Little more than that the Yankees acquired him from the giants. Catching a recently had his first child. Homage to Pittsburgh as he swings here. Reps wanted to laugh that one is off the top of the monster racing around. Third is Torres Gardner will stop it. Third. Gotcha. With a bullet to left field that it's now three to nothing. "Think it indicates that the Yankees don't have any confidence that Aaron, judge is gonna come back and play and they would rather have Andrew, mccutchen playing right field and Neil Walker some of the other guys they. Had on the head on the roster Andrew mccutchen. Has been fairly, productive for the giants, but you know. He brings an experience you president. Presence he's pretty good, in the outfield nothing I once, was but. Then none of us is you know and I, would say, if, I'm a Yankee fan I say okay we're in a better spot today than yesterday Sees the leadoff spot. With your host Adam, Copeland on KNB are six eighty, sports leader. Andrew mccutchen sounded like it's official move to the, New York, Yankees, giants will get to minor leaguers in return And it's the right move it is Yet were not interested, in the. Defense if they need, in. In rightfielder that's short right, field albeit but as we said before. Aaron judge no timetable for his return. So you got some thoughts on this your thoughts and Andrew mccutchen time is a giant sort of a weird thought to look back on this and, we will in ten years and say the, guy played five months of baseball here not quite a full. Season and the good, line from Baguley I said this earlier it was odd that he suggested he could return to the giants in. The off season doesn't seem like, something, I'm not, looking for an apologist Chapman New York Yankee deal where you trade him and you get them back right after that's that's not the. Route the giants are looking to go but he did say something and I think this is. A a good thing to think. About he could be to the Yankees what Kenny Lofton was. The giants in two thousand and, two that would be a. Fun comparison Let go there play a couple of months of baseball or a month of, baseball September into October they need them there, to win that wildcard game it would be a shame of. Getting out of that, first round a team that's working hard to make sure they can get out of that first round the Oakland. As they were the story of, baseball, the hottest, team on the planet drop in two or three to Houston they come home for a four-game set with the Seattle Mariners team now. Four back of them in the loss column but the as we've gotta play good ball because. Seattle's creep it on their doorstep. They are right there they're banging on the door the the. Started friends what's it in Montana Yesterday Frenchie Montas, started for the, as yesterday I said they've been having, trouble getting guys out of the fifth, sixth inning Montas. Went six innings yesterday evening gave up like five runs six runs, he five in the first the as were almost out of at bases loaded and then dude, Matt Chapman through a ball. Away Dave how about that Matt. Chapman picks the ball at third baubles at. A little, bit and honestly we've been talking about multiple errors play they may could. Have given him to, errors, on the play he baubles it it's to be questionable first and then he throws, it away bases. Loaded two more come into score so you don't. Wanna put all that are Montas but that's the first as starters since Michael fires eight games ago what five and two thirds in Minnesota the as bullpen is nails their electric their lights out but if. The as want to go deep into the postseason here gonna need to. Get these starters to go deeper into ballgames and they are hurting. Right now the prognosis on Sean banana they're going, to wait and see they got a Brett Anderson on the deal I mean this. Stuff is not good. Right now for the for the Oakland a.'s as, far as starters go You get to. That wildcard. Game, and, you don't have a starting pitcher they did this the as lived this they got. John Lester to start that wildcard game. And thought that was gonna be in they put up runs in. That wildcard game and honestly maybe the greatest wildcard game ever played the most exciting. Them in the royals back in two thousand fourteen but seemed like that was going to be, the year so a lot of. Baseball. Left to be? Played a month left but we're kicking us around yesterday while we. "We're talking about andrew mccutchen where the question comes in is if he had wound up and shut himself for the long throw instead of trying to hurry it over there he still might have gotten mccutchen or maybe that extra time he wouldn't have gotten him who knows but you can see why they did scored as an error and the giants were the beneficiaries to runs were home now it was five to nothing and they had runners at second and third four buster posey buster posey fairly close to the plate with runners at second and third the pitch swing grab all three bayside affair law passed in headed for the feel corner panic has scored here comes mccutchen right behind him he crosses the plate it's a stand up double for buster posey and now a big inning seven to nothing giants so buster kick through in the clutch the ten straight game in which he's had at least one hit and usually more buster leads the club with eight rb is for the year and three seventy five batting average of four run sixth inning rally and a seven nothing lead for the giants stratton would pitch then through the sixth and the seventh inning he retired the last eight batters he faced seventy one hit and he's the first time in his still young major league career that he is finished seven innings in a game seven things one hit four strikeouts three walks derek law who has just brought up the minor leagues today jansa fortifying the bullpen as they sent to andy suarez back to the minor leagues after his start yesterday and law retired everybody he faced three up three down in the eighth and then he got the first two hitters in the ninth leading it between law and the veteran eric hosmer to nobody on here's the wind up laws pitch swing and a high fly ball leftcenter over to his right goes block oh he gives way to pens it is pants who takes it and the ball game is over.
