"They're two running backs Zach Mas and Devin Devin Singletary have been keys for them and every single game. They've won, however, in the three losses that the bills have had those two guys have only combined for 38 yards from scrimmage on average, So you have to slow those two guys down in order to beat the bills. No doubt Zach Stevens from the NPR joining us here. Okay, so I don't want to sound too hyperbolic on this case, so understand this isn't even all coming from me. But I want to ask your opinion on it because we had a little bit of a debate last night with Alfred Williams when he's on the show Because Alfred wants to see more. No Taani Moody. He thinks the Broncos have found their right guard. Now they're paying Grand Blasco a certain contract that they're just not gonna be able to get out from on next year. Whatever so Did Graham glass go get Wally picked in this situation. Should we see the tiny moody at least for the remainder of the year? What do you think about right guard right now. You know what? I'm not going to come on here and argue against Alfred will tell you that. You know, I think the Broncos have a great opportunity right now to see more of Massoni movie, You know, Grand Glascow missed last week because of an injury. Well, we know he's better much better this week than he was at this point last week. But you know what? At this point in the season, you're in a valuation mode, and I applaud the Broncos for understanding there an evaluation mode. And embracing it because it doesn't make sense. If you should be an evaluation mode, and you're in your playing hostage locked and you're playing tomorrow, Dotson and you're playing these guys who you know what you have. You have to go full evaluation. So what I do, at least for this week. As I say, Graham. We need you to be 100% in order to go out there because we do need to see the tiny movie and you could be honest with him about it because you know what he knows He's getting paid his money next year. He knows he's coming back next year. You're not cutting him and losing an additional $5 million in debt. Money next year instead of keeping him on the team, so you could be honest with him and then you know what if Connie plays well and shows well, then you could just do that the rest of the season with Grand Blasco. So yeah, I I do understand where Alpert's coming from. And man I really like what I saw from the tiny movie and it's not a surprise, either guys. He was the 1st 2nd round talent before all of his injuries, and, of course, his injuries made it so the Bronco's gotta steal on him. And if he's able to stay healthy, man, I just loved what I saw. Against the Panthers and would like to see him get more work that these last couple of weeks let's bring the Broncos him all over the last couple of drafts. You know, it looked for talented. That deed is gonna contribute or play your one year two in the 1st 34 rounds, And then after that, they start doing dice rolls. You know, guys that did have slipped and fallen duty injury that kind of stuff for the Jake. But pick a few years back. You couldn't tiny moody and we go back. Look, there's there's some more in their justice or not, might have been a guy we would have seen at some point this year. And so there's there's Chicks like that all over. I think that one it speaks to the draft philosophy changed they made and how that successful that's been over the last couple of years, despite some columnists saying, otherwise, I think that I think that really, you know, you look at this team and you look at what they've got on the offensive line there and you've got to get cushion very up T part and I think the question for me In that movie evaluation is is putting moody out there another rookie, doing a disservice to Lloyd Cushion, bury it all because that would be my primary concern. You have to get that center toe where he's where he needs to be before you do anything else on that offensive line. Well in that that's very, very fair. And, of course, putting a veteran $11 million guard next to him certainly only helps with that and and we saw it. I mean, the one kind of the Broncos turned the ball over last week was when there was a little miscommunication in error and communication between the Tani Moody on Lloyd cushier very there and you'd never want to see your quarterback hit, especially when it could be something that's prevented. Now, let's say that was all on Lloyd Cushion very well. Grand Glass told me when he's in there may be able to tell him before this. Now. Okay? You got it. Got it. Where is it? Where is the Tani? Moochie isn't able to do that. So bend to your point. Not only does it help wake pushing very, but it also helps your quarterback and at the end of the day, guys, isn't that what these last three games are all about? Is finding out there trying to find out at least exactly what you have Andrew lock, so I totally understand the Let's Let's give the pieces to drew that he needs the best pieces in order for him to succeed. And you know some people like Alfred Williams. They believe that the Tani Moochie is that Piece right now. Well, and he just likes the physical strength that he displays. And I mean, you're talking about a guy that Vic Fangio, I thought, athlete, you know reference. This usually know you play like three games. It was file. You're in college, and it's been a year and a half since he played started and played a game and this is the pro level and he looked like he belonged for years. I mean, he looks like he's been playing next to I mean this point, Elijah Wilkinson, who also was just coming back, and then Calvin Anderson and left side. I mean, they were just so many things. Interestingly enough about that game that could have said that that would have been set up for disaster. Yet they played with a certain level of confidence. And when I come back and watch that game, I wouldn't have known other than that one moment, when, when, basically you had free Russia. Is that your locket? He fumbled the ball after you got sacked. Wouldn't have known otherwise. That group hadn't been working together the entire time. Oh, no, absolutely. I mean, that's a credit to everyone, not just the offensive lineman. But of course, Mike Mon check Drew lock and Pat Shurmur for calling a game. That's it. All of those guys strengthened and especially, you know, you have no offend who goes out early in the game Knicks and that choice with Magali stepped up and had had an incredible game, especially for backup tight ends and, like Nick, the net told us yesterday. On Doom Conference called was, You Know, All of those plays were designed for Goa fans. Yet those guys stepped in and did a good job patch Shermer didn't get that didn't get scared by Noah Fant leaving so I mean, just a heck of a job by him as well. And another reason why today drew out comes out and says it would be awesome and huge for Pat Shurmur to come back and Man. I totally understand where Drew is coming from. He does not want to have another offensive coordinator. He's been bumped so many times in his football career. That man, some continuity will be great for not only him, but for these other young guys were talking about for Lloyd Cushion. Very burning Tani movie and the guys. We haven't even talked about you, the young guys. Jerry Judy K. J. Hammer? No, Stan. All of those guys as well. Continuity would be nice on the offensive side. Yeah, And it felt felt like that game against the Panthers was really a showcase for the Broncos Rookie class all the way around, Zach. Just a couple more here for you really appreciate the time tonight..
Fantasy, Meet Reality: A Running Back Breaks Out, Then Disappears
"Liz Merrill is a senior writer for ESPN. So we're doing a package on one one hit wonders. And he editors thought who'd be better to sort of headline this but Jonas Gray story it's been about five five years. Since his breakout game. It was November sixteenth. Two thousand fourteen. What happened on that day? New England would've gone through one of those September's which everyone in Britain them off. You know they've lost that Miami in the opening game and then they went to Kansas City and just got clobbered and then to patriots form. They rattled off five wins. And they're back to their dominating cells. Broody leads US Patriots into town to the Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night. Football how Michael Smith game was a Sunday night football game and it was a highly anticipated anticipated game because it was a rematch of that year's divisional round game tonight. It's Andrew Lock Against Tom. Brady get your calculators out. There should be really default to rescue teams. Both come off by weeks. There's a cave named Jewish graves is making star back to the ground. This this is Jonas Gray Gray to the thirty yard line. You know. It's amazing what nobody knew was except for people in very inner struggles of New England And he actually had a really impressive training camp and Bella check had told him. You know you're so close to making the roster oster but they didn't activate them until mid October when Steven Ridley towards ACL this guy he wasn't uh-huh regular starter at Notre Dame. He was on the practice squad until three weeks ago. So his mom and his brother drove about three hundred miles from mm-hmm where they lived outside of Detroit. The Game Jonas at the time was living in a one bedroom apartment and this modest area outside of Boston Austin on the very bare bones and the only tickets. He could really sport. His family. Were in the nosebleed seats. They're ZEHR watching the game. There's all this anticipation there's nerve block white with Michelle. Give the gray runs. Between Guard and center white. He pushes to the end zone. Owed go to spray has a touchdown patriots. He's scores his first touchdown and his mom is like okay. I'll clap. I'm I'm pretty exciting. This is so awesome. So she's Kinda cool about it in cash and then you know he's course again and then we. He scores his third touchdown. I get the great lowers the coders running. And then Jonas Gray Mix Histories Iowa thing for two hundred one yards and four touchdowns give give the pig right. He runs a lot he for the Patriots. Schoolyard can't stop. Stop it so Jonas Gray erupts. He has this once in a lifetime. Performance how does he react. After the game he'd reaction was pretty wide. I I mean I think that's one of the things that made the story so endearing it because he was just like holy cow. Here's Glock like celebrating Alabama with me. Here's Tom Brady headbutting. Me All the stuff that you see in the movies really you know the thing you know. act like he's been there I mean and he did act like you've been there but inside he was completely awash. You know in all of the surprise and the joy and there was sort of that moment where from Michelle Foia talks to him. They had the traditional interview with the Star of the game. Let's turn to John Ray. Yeah Guy who didn't hear his name before you're going to be hearing it a lot. We heard it many times tonight and he's doing nervous. I mean there's a guy who graduated with a degree in English and he did stand up comedy already in college. So you know. She knew his way around the microphone but she didn't know what he's GonNa say touchdowns the first four of your NFL career on at this stage had explain this performance. I'm just blessed. Blessed beyond belief we put together a great game plan. They hammered in all week. She watched this for so long. Keep Watch Tom Brady. And GRONK and company and Julia Nettleton on TV. It was just one of those things where you just couldn't believe all this is happening. Someone one of those guys men are probably go home tonight and get back. I'll probably just lay in bed. Look up in the ceiling. Just just astonished man. What's going on? Aw Right in a great story man. God's helping
Andrew Luck's Retirement Highlights the NFL's Growing Problem
"Know what it wasn't long ago. I think it was last week when two weeks ago when mclovin said hey how about this poll question is andrew lock more likely to be an slight disappointment or hall of famer and this is when the ankle injury came. I remember it was the calf and then the owner robert say said i think it's an ankle and then i started to think there's more involved in this. There's more to this story. Sorry ben just glynn from the calf to a high ankle. I don't even i still don't know what he has but we know it serious enough that he announced his retirement and everybody's got an opinion on this. His decision to retire was a shock to the system for you know the the entire n._f._l. Nation when people say boy oy this is the most shocking football story we've ever heard i mean like new. No no no no how about we start with o._j. Simpson michael vick aaron hernandez. Those are shocking stories. Andrew looks different cat all right he is. He went back to college to get his degree. He could have left after his junior year. He went back to get his degree in architectural design. I believe he there are guys who are or football players and then there guys who play football most our football players j._j. Watt is a football player. Should he still be playing football. No no not at all but it andrew luck is a guy who is a guy who was good at playing football. I don't know if he's a a football guy and there's a difference in that but that doesn't mean he wasn't good at it or didn't love it. I just think that we're we're so unfamiliar. Oh you're with an athlete who uses logic where you go. What are you doing. Most football players in pauley had the analogy. Let's say you have a rock rock in your shoe. Most football players will continue to play in fact. Stop down on the rock. Where is andrew luck goes. How about. I just take the rock in my shoe. I mean it sounds logical. He just took the rock out of a shoe. Football players will tie the shoe differently like they'll somehow find a way. Hey i'll walk differently who care i'll take madison. Shoot me up. Whatever andrew lucked just said. I'm gonna take the the pebble <music> out. He's removing football from his life. Everybody has an opinion on this and when he started rattle off the list of injuries it makes a lot of sense but it's hard for us to imagine and by the way athletes are just commodities. We've moved on from all of these athletes. We don't care really don't care eric. Dickerson joined us in los angeles when we were out there and here's one of the great running backs of all time any looked great. I said the kind you look like you could give me a couple of carries. He said people don't realize the toll that this takes on goes. I slept in a reclining chair for two years because i had neck and back injuries. Nobody cares about eric dickerson's injuries. Nobody cared about jim. Mcmahon's injury his health. He thought about killing himself. We move on and andrew luck realizes that and yes he got paid paid and the reason for people to be upset and how do you do this to your team. And how do you quit on your team. I understand those emotions. I really do but i have to look at this and say andrew. Luck did what andrew luck thought he needed to do. Is it inexcusable to you know oh colts fans. Yeah i get that. I don't think he's saying boy. Watch what i'm gonna do. I'm going to set up the colts for failure now. I don't think i think that he had to process this. It took a long time. It's something you do you do well. It's your identity and maybe he doesn't want that is his identity and can you get away from this. You know the guys who had all the surgeries. I'm seeing all of this stuff here. Everybody's saying how do you do. I understand all of those emotions. Russians here but andrew lock did what andrew lucked thought he needed to do. If barry sanders was a quarterback and he walked away we would have abba bigger issue with what barry sanders did at age thirty-one calvin johnson at aged thirty. Jim brown age thirty. What are you doing walking away from the sport. Guess you've got a contract extension. There are a lot of questions. I have ranted you luck in this situation. When did you really know and when did you let the cold snow and what is the reason. Is there more surgery down. The road like you went through shoulder. You had and i put some of this on the colts by the way ryan grigson in particular the former g._m. What did i say for years. You have this investment. It's like having this unbelievable engine but then you have a car that's falling apart. You traded for trent richardson. You didn't use any lyman you finally went out and got quinton nelson and what happened. Andrew luck had the best season of his career. He had the fewest sacks. It's not something that takes a whole lot of thought. Hey how about we have a good offensive line. Chances are andrew. Luck might be able to play play a little bit longer but so many injuries and then you start to get down on yourself and you get in your head and you don't wanna go through it and and i look i couldn't play the game. I've told you if you ever watched a game on the sidelines. You never let your kids play. It is violent. It's more violent than you think because when you hear it you can close your eyes on the sidelines just listen. There's no way you go yep. I want to play play. I know we're macho. I know we all wanna play through pain. I did stupid things with my knee and my shoulder waited thirty five the years to get my torn rotator and i'm not even a pro athlete. I have an artificial knee because i was stupid when i played this guys out there and they're taking shots at him. He's getting hit lacerated kidney. He's got shoulder. He's got yeah. I understand all of these injuries. Do we want him out there. Yes because it's about us he. What are you doing to my fantasy team. Hey what you doing to my colds. You're you guys got a chance to. I understand hold loose things but this is something that we don't understand an athlete who says i'm gonna take a logical approach. He's a guy he's got a flip phone. He's got a book club. I mean he he's not your normal guy. Hi and we can't understand this. He's newly married. We can't understand this because all of us would go. I killed a play and make that kind of money and be a starting starting quite yes. This story is about us in how we perceive. This people didn't play wanna tell you they would play or how oh you need to play or. What's wrong with your your soft. You gotta take a step back and andrew luck. Doing i see all of this twitter chatter. Oh this is going to stay with him forever. I is very sanders. A quitter calvin johnson a quitter. Is jim brown a quitter right i. I haven't heard that i'd never heard somebody say. Jim brown's a quitter. Barry sanders quit walked down on the <hes> the lines how can you do. I guess andrew luck is a quitter but i'm guessing will move past this calvin johnson. Is he a quitter or see smart. I don't know i just i saw this reaction this vitriol that andrew luck how dare you do for this. He walked away from his team. I get i get it. He gave up on a sport. He excels at but no matter what people say. I think we can all agree. Andrew luck was outstanding when he did play and wishing luck and no pun intended with his life after football.

"I keep saying it now the asterisk. Though does i mean as a major one too who is andrew lock really not going to be andrew luck in twenty and nineteen. Is he going to be ready to go. I think though that the offensive line should be pretty good and again the team started the jags of the colts again. Coach saban the preseason. The offensive line hasn't looked all they didn't look good in their scrimmage. Ah again with i mean come on with that nonsense. That has no application carrots. That's being that's over thinking things to use. Some baker mayfield's language judge if you're reading into what happens in an august scrimmage too much what you want is to survive without injury. That's the goal of your any team worth earth. Anything events line should be good. I think if andrew luck can't go. I think jacoby percent is one of the better backups. I think they can survive on a limited basis with perset in there especially with what should be a dominant defense. Perhaps the best defense in a full of really good defenses and the jags included in that mix but they really should have. I okay they wanted. Nick foles pine for somebody who took care of the ball. After the blake bortles experience the mistake that they remade as far as i'm concerned is if in fact according to all the scouts who looked at him t._j. Hopkinson isn't just a good tight end but is a generational guy in in you know as a poor man's rob gronkowski which is how a lot of people consider him why they wouldn't if your if your offense is predicated on trying to be physical go and run the ball with leonard fournette and control the ball and you look at what nick foles did with zakar company in philadelphia. Isn't that who they should've taken. What were they doing with limited. Pass catchers marquees lean guys like that. Come on days should've taken t._j. Hodkinson not added to what is already loaded defense so it's fine to get josh allen but i don't think that that's the difference especially when you have andrew lock t y hilton and marlin mac in indianapolis and you have in houston in new coppins.

"Yeah. I'd still take the over on that. Yeah. Look, I this. We know that Andrew lock likes tight ends in the red zone. So if we expand expanded to Andrew look like big ole targets in the red zone. He could be a real good standard scoring option at some point. I don't know about PR. But. Also depends what they do on the other side member Dion canes coming back from ACL injury. We'll see how he does. What do they do with Ryan grand? Just a Rogers if grant stays. Next up. They start a lot of money spent to Adam Humphreys, Tennessee over under seven hundred fifty and a half receiving yards in four and a half or Sumitomo way under under under the oh by gosh. Under I'm going to going to Vegas. I can't believe they project him to lead the titans and receiving yards going to New Jersey the place. I wish he would assigned someplace that has like a high flying offense. Yeah. He he's not that. He's not. He's nothing. No. He's a good player. Wow. I had like like a three game stretch where something like that where he was capable slot receiver. And I think I have a capable REO to needs to know your easiest job in football, you get tagged and you would be running of would be running. You'd be helped off the field. I have a slot receiver with by Finn risk. I've never seen your quickness catch very well. Be surprised actually I pretty good hands. Pretty rugged NFL size for put your hand up to the camera. I wanted to measure in their small, but they're. He's you MRs yesterday, what size bracelet, would you think that Adam would be ordering firms junior? Well, designed baseball. No, I guess junior. Give you the size option. Children petite toddler. I'll send the link. I don't wanna make people go through this again. And that he you could tell me what size. I should order New England gave Josh Gordon and original round tender. That's a second round tender. So they can match any offer for Gordon who's ineligible right now. But if he comes back he'll most likely be on the patriots. And if not the patriots will get a second round pick. And apparently, according to the athletic and other reports giant still having trade discussions about Beckham seeing the forty Niners link Todo Beckham. Yeah. You know, you're appraising the dolphins for tanking. I think you should praise. The giants to if they treat Beckham. Yeah. The thing is you're three of the tank they keep all their players. Still take so easy, easy stuff. They're tight ends dolphins are signing. Wayne, Allyn lions are signing Jesse James Bengals resigned. CJ? Dave. The bills will sign Tyler Kroft. And that's that's that's. For you. Yeah. I'm I'm a little bit excited about us alma. Oh, yeah. Okay. Discuss. Tyler Kroft has gone Tyler I for still Tyler I for. There's a decent chance. We're gonna use him as a streamer regularly throughout the year. Great. Thank you. Can. I said that many more of a high pitched voice great offense of line kinda interesting. There's only four sizes here. Yeah. Go ahead and read them and tell me which one you think would fit best for me. Okay. So offense of line. We got Kevin Zeitler going to the giants. Cleveland's right guard analytic Vernon pass rusher. Going back to Cleveland. They've upgraded also signed Sheldon Richardson. So they're getting better up front fern. It's not great. But he's he's fine..

"Light that they were using. Did you see that ever seen a press conference where you got the full shadow behind the guy like it's it's high noon in the old west all right after the guy suffers through the losses. He needs sunglasses to do his press conference. Some of the guys who were on the wrong end of the playoff games this weekend. We're joined the drought we've been positive for most of the show. We're going to slide into the negative for the disappointments for divisional round weekend. Chris simms. We got through the coin toss in person in Kansas City on Friday and one I know, well, we're gonna have to trust the rig technology today. Go ahead call tails, and it'll come up tails and you'll get the first pick. Let's go tells Kristen. Chris. How about that? Then how dare you see every once in a while it has to be rigged in my favor. So it's not completely and totally obvious that it's always rigged in your favor. And I'm gonna be gin, and I hate to do this. He says hall of Famer he's got a great Santa Claus beard, but added Viteri you're wearing the goat horns coming out of Saturday's game. How different the vibe is going into the locker room. Chris if he doesn't clank that ball off of the post when there's an opportunity to just get three to just get something to just feel good about where you are to feel like maybe you have a chance and any twenty three yarder. He hits the upright. And then he missed an extra point later in the game. Then all of a sudden you the hot take artists are pointing out how low his his field goal percentages and the procedure is a first ballot hall of Famer for crying out loud. He's had some of the most clutch kicks we've ever seen. But that was an opportunity to just make it interesting going into the second half. And when when that kick missed when it hit that post and bounced back. Doc, I'm thinking, all right? That's it. Chiefs are gonna win this one. There's no question about it. And I feel like it could have been different in the second half. If they could have got something out of that. Dr. Yeah. Certainly I mean missed the extra point they lost. So they let four points on the board because of an Atari. But I I'm with you. That was a huge moment of the football game to be able to go in twenty four ten. You have a nice little drive and say you could sell to your football team. Okay, offense. We finally got a going. We're only down to scores. Andrew lock in that team being down to score is I don't even think they would blink an eye but being down three scores and just having that the fleeting moment of going. Oh, we got nothing to build on going in the second half. Ultimately was a was a big deal, and they could never catch up. So not a bad pick by you. I think the biggest disappointment for me is. I gotta go the Cowboys front seven. That's where I'm going to start the Cowboys D line the Cowboys front seven. I mean. Yes, this is what we were calling a Super Bowl defense or at least. I was I mean, they'd been dominant. We had seen them really. Stymie some of the best offenses in football all year long the saints included. And I thought certainly they can make life tough on the the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday night. Well, they didn't make life tough on them at all. And they their front seven was absolutely dominated by the Los Angeles Rams, and that goes into the coaching too. Because we brought up in the first hour that the Rams emitted after the game that there was tells on the defensive line about what they were doing schematically slants and stunts by how they were lined up by what hands were on the ground, and that's part of this discussion too. So total disappointing effort from the Cowboys defensive front seven. And that's not only the players who got physically, but the coaches who didn't notice that. There was some telltale signs giving away their hand on what they are doing on that front as well. That's why I'm disappointed in and let me tell you. I think that needs to be a bigger deal at a time when there's so much talk about what Chris shards future's going to be in Dallas. He was a finalist for the dolphins job for all. He knows. He's he's still may get that job. Because just because the dolphins have reportedly settled on patriots linebacker, Scott. Brian floor that doesn't mean he's going to take the job in Miami. It could be Rashard somebody's responsible and the coaching staff for allowing them to have such blatant tells that the Rams were able to exploit. Yes, the players need to play. But the coaches put them in position to be successful. And if you are not spotting your own flaws, your own tendencies, your own patterns, you are making it easier for the team to beat you. And this is on Jason Garrett automatically. But it also to some extent is on rod Rodman Nellie and Chris Rashard. Chris. Agreed. I mean, it is it's a total total team effort there or lack of effort there and just far as you know, self scouting self support an important part of football to realize. Okay. We're in the playoffs and teams do do deeper dives, especially the team who had the first round by. They're going to be able to have that time to look at little intricacies of your or your game plan your defense, you're alignments all of those things. And clearly, you know, they found something there with. The Dallas front and totally totally exposed it. All right. I'm going to go back to the game that we already addressed especially since they're trying to feed you an answer. And I'm gonna take it before you can an Terry was the focal point that moment that thing that was so uncharacteristic. But what about Andrew luck, captain, Andrew, you can't you can't you? Hey, sometimes it's gonna snow when you're out there getting ready for battle, captain, Andrew, you gotta be able to perform in the elements. And I thought that the colts would be able to do it even though they are a dome team. We have that narrative for so many years that dome teams can't function outdoors in the postseason. What happened the dome team went outdoors and their quarterback could not get it done when you consider everything he's accomplishes here everything he's ever come back in June. He was throwing a high school football for him to just not show up in that situation early on allowing the chiefs to get ahead fourteen nothing because they couldn't get anything going and it took so long for that offense to really emerge the seven points at the colts scored in the first half or on a blocked punt. So. Andrew lock. And I know we can blame it on the offense of line. We can play it on the running game. We can blame it on a lot of things. But I think Andrew luck bears. A lot of the blame for this. And we did not expect him to play that way. I think we expected him to hold his own against Patrick Mahomes. And he just didn't. What are you talking about? They were trying to feed me first of all that makes me mad. That was my pick. Nobody was telling me, Andrew luck. It also somebody was telling you to take Andrew luck. Okay. So I I have the receipts. Okay. Chris Andrew luck out. Well, I don't have. I don't look at my texts I focused on my job. So they must be tagged. Listen, you're the one that convinced me to get this fancy watch that has your text messages on it, and it buzzes your risk getting I tried to be professional and actually listen to you when you're talking instead of being you who looks at your is typing your next article when I talk. Against the rhino. Have officials shoving me down the side against the rules to be able to pick two disappointments from the same game. As to is your first picks up bull crap. That is bullcrap. So now I have to adjust because of I don't like that. I'm really mad. That was my next pick. And yeah, you're right. Andrew luck. He missed throws early on to kind of get the team going and give them some confidence get their defense or let their defense stay on the sideline a little bit. Where the defense was on the on the field. The first two drives for a good amount of time and really started to get worn out. So good pick by you. Screw everybody else. Who was texting you telling you to do that. Okay. You're getting the same. I'm not smart enough. And I don't need your guys help to tell me what to pick. Okay. I don't need that. And I'm not smart enough to read texts and talk at the same time. I can't do that have you. I could barely talk when I'm not reading texts. So I almost got the truth. We you almost admitted the truth, you're not smart enough to set up your watch. So that you get text messages on it. That's what you were starting saying my watch today. So that's the first thing that would be the other one too. Okay. I'm going on the chargers the chargers offensive weapons. I think that's where I'm going to start there. There the disappointment. I mean, yes, we know that the patriots had their way with the chargers defense. But this chargers football team all year. Philip rivers Benjamin, the the Williams Mike Williams tyrel Williams Canaan Allen Antonio gates. Melvin gordon. I mean, they were disappointed disappointing and yesterday's football game. Yeah. I know the game didn't play out exactly the way they wanted to. But the New England Patriots got in the face of the chargers. And basically said Philip rivers. You're not gonna throw it behind us. We don't care. We're not scared of any of the speed of your receivers, you know, Melvin Gordon. I know he was not at one hundred percent. That's certainly hurt their football team. But the game became a little bit of a track. Meet and the chargers offense, which is one of the best offenses in football. And really this is what concerns me going to Nacho because they sputtered down the end of the season. And really did not play great football the last three or four weeks of the regular season. And they weren't great in the wildcard game. But yes, they were this appointment. It was like Philip rivers said to open up the segment, you know, they thought the defense would settle. All in it didn't and the chargers offense never picked up to kind of take the pressure off the defense or keep the ball on some long drives. So their defense could get on the sideline and make some adjustments or get rested, or whatever it may be. So that's disappointing to me. Not just Philip rivers can wizened on everything they were all, you know, they all got their butts kicked by the patriots. Yeah. And it really was stunning to see it unfold. The way it did. But that's the difference between having extensive playoff experience and not having it. And you know, you mentioned this isn't my next pick. But the idea that that the patriots. No that cover three Seahawks defense, so well and the chargers didn't mix it up. Patriots. No, this really, well, that's the problem with that scheme. Mike, it's one of my issues. There's so many defensive coordinators in football that run that scheme. Now, Chris Rashard Dallas. Right. You know, you got guys all over the league because it was successful. And yes, they don't gain plants specific change their scheme. And sometimes when they face an offense. That's got a great scheme and a quarterback that can make the right decisions and offense coordinator who could find these little ways to expose it on third and three and third and four they're not able to overcome. And that's what we saw yesterday. All right. Let's get to the last two. I'm thinking about Ezekiel Elliott. But you know, what I want to go with the eagles offense because when you score fourteen points early, and then just disappear for the rest of the game just disappeared. And I know that they drove down late. But look Sean Jefferies part of the offense. He let the ball get through his hands. And I still think the eagles have a tough decision to make moving forward about who their quarterbacks going to be but their offense just just. I think it was with that interception. Wants Nick foles through the interception. And that was our first hit back in the early..
"Of things you face. Andrew luck this week. And I know you've seen film on Andrew. I love. Andrew lock I think life a lot of times is do you get support? Nobody can do it alone in life. Nobody no player. Michael, jordan. Yeah. Not in football, by the way, Michael Jordan needed Scottie Pippen and Phil Jackson too. And I look at Andrew lock in those first few years, man. He didn't have an align. He didn't have a running game. Now, he has both Logan Ryan when you look at the film of Andrew luck. What do you see what jumps out to you? Because this is the biggest titans game in the regular season. Logan. I can remember in years. What do you see? I see that he's healthy. I mean, he's doing the ball. Like Andrew lucked does and early in his career when he was healthy and has some protection he was MVP candidate. So that's what it is the last games. He hasn't. He hasn't got saying. I mean, that's the key. If you give any quarterback or especially a good one some time in this lead. They can pick you apart. I mean, I I tip my hand. I think that we have the best cover guys NFL. I think we're the best secondary. I think we can match up with anybody man to man with our three corners and our Tuesday fifties. But if you give anybody time, you can't cover them forever. So we have to find a way to disrupt his timing it and then offense align make him uncomfortable. Similar to what we did last week. We just had to really make comfortable back there and allow our coverage in our in our in our rush to the Matt mareo, I think that's the key. You

"Okay. So here's what just happened the soundboard broken. Again. It's not working for whatever reason. He's a. I swear I was watching Torika try to do it. And it wasn't working. But it's not her full, Mike. Four days. But I did not forget how to push it. But I think it's my computer broke everything broke. I think that's adds up. Thank you to Rica for that shadow Rica for handling put today, we're still beeping. We're still beeping are Mike. Let's begin we've sort of we've kind of touched on some of these already, but just keep going through them. Let's begin with Andrew lock face in the Jacksonville Jaguars. And we talk about actually here's a great little Pete behind the scenes. It's maybe not great. Maybe if oversold, but we do an insider column each week you and I are part of the roundtable were they ask us for amongst other things the upset of the week fantasy flop of the week fringe starter the week to start our fringe player of the week to start mine was the jets defense this week. Yes pick. I would do Johnson people Upshur people were like, dude. He just had a great game. And I'm like did you watch the first eight games of the season? Right. Duke Johnson's when my options, and my mom, so when I was going through players to sit for this week. My first thought was T Y Hilton or a flop was TY Hilton because of the great Jalen Ramsey in. How he is shadowed him. So Mike had already taken up the t y Hilton really jumped in there. I knew I knew you were going to do that. So other snagged him my other one that I consider it in the hard part was he played last night. Was I thought about Corey Davis because it is a very difficult match up this weekend against Gilmore he shadows. In for the patriots. I wound up on Andrew lock and Mike. I'm gonna allow you to make the case for this one. It's not that I think Angeles and to be a non factor, but it's a very difficult match up despite some of the defensive inefficiencies from the Jaguars over the past few games. Yeah. Absolutely. And we'll start with the Jags defense because that's really the key. Here luck has been lights out this season. I don't think people realize this. He's on piece for forty six passing touchdowns. It be a career high. I think he's healthy. Like, I think he's playing well. So he's deliver the goods, you know, some again, the the main reservation being the Jags defense say what you want about them taking kind of a step back and they've struggled a little bit. As a team. It's mostly been the offense. They've only they're allowing fifteen point five fantasy points per game two quarterbacks. That's outstanding. Second best in the league. Only two of eight opposing quarterbacks and managed to top sixteen fantasy week but both of them I mean to to both of them, I should say. Have come during their pastor games. That's something to think about. But again luck has been terrific five top ten weeks. So far there's some concerns with this game. He has eight interceptions only sixty three rushing yards. You'd like to see him running the ball little bit more as he did earlier in his career and not turn it over which is important in our standard scoring so some pluses here some minuses, I think the way he's played. He's a fringe QB one. But with this Jags defense at you know, he's not a top five play. Zeke Elliott's in the Dallas Cowboys we talked about this earlier, we alluded to this being a part of our conversation face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night. Football more Cowboys in prime time. Philadelphia's allowing a league low fifty point six running back rush yards per game. So far this season. Mike, I Elliott run eight or nine and my rankings. I think I have made a flipped him in James white the last minute eight to nine, but that's kind of where you had MS. Well this week. Yeah. I do have many in the projections. And again, we'll the positive here is again, we mentioned this before it's a run heavy offense. Seek is the centerpiece of the offense. They they give him the ball. All as often as they can on the ground. And we're seeing it expanded role for him as a pass catcher twenty nine catches already the season his previous career high was thirty three as a rookie seventeen percent Tari chair this season. That's a big number..

"A few more days of practice Head of them still and the latest is Anthony Costanzo and the way that coach. Reich kinda describes the injury to Costanzo is Oh it he had it and he's got it back and he's gonna There's. Gonna be some rest right he's gonna. Need a little bit of time. It's as vague as. Anything, out. There I'm wondering about Costanza 's future tell me I'm wrong Yeah Tony I I don't know about in terms of long term but I think. It's something to monitor the, rest? Of the that it'd be the first injured. Hamstring about two weeks before training camp. Started and then re tweaked it. During Friday night practice It's. Been really really durable NFL career he's only miss three games, maybe since his rookie season it's eleven and he looked, at positions on the colts. Roster and talk about depth I think left tackle might be, the most bear and unproven position on the roster so Dongo's bend your left tackle for the last seven years and he's going to miss a little bit of. Time, and, that, is very vague and maybe he doesn't play the, rest of the pre season but you would think just a tweaking of a hamstring he would be able to go by the regular season opens up here in a little over a month So you don't see it as a serious thing when you take a, look at the injuries that he had last year No, he was hoping last year two years ago think or maybe even the year before that when he was heard so I I don't. Think it's anything to fret over long term why. This is a guy that has been extremely extremely durable in bell career That guy wanting the, blind side of you know Through that awful twenty eleven so you end up through Angeles early. Years in these past couple of years as well I don't think it's anything that. It's a reoccurring injury that happened for several years maybe came back a little bit too soon, from that hamstring injury and and he openly. Admitted he kinda. Over trained in the off season so rest stuff you don't. Need a Santa Costanza in the month of August you need to see some of these other guys play left tackle in case this does become a lingering issue talking to. Kevin Bowen from ten seventy the fan dot com that's where you go to get all of. His latest on what's going on a training camp one of the things I noted is that when it comes to running back where, a little bit, of everywhere and nowhere on here we've, got MAC I think people are happy with him. But you, need a, little bit of that day Angela shoulder maybe better, but he still needs to hand off the ball who is he handing off to and, what are we seeing a lot of young guys Tony with Robert Turbin suspended for the first, four games James Andrew lock arguably I think the top three running back to the roster none, of them have, played with lock when you talk about, Marlin MAC going into the second season the mid. Rookies and, I am, highs and Jordan Wilkins as well and Jim Irsay, had quite hyperbole on Friday night saying that he thinks Marlee Matlin rush for fifteen hundred, yards this season I don't know if anyone in for Is He has his, bell Donald Trump of, sports just don't let them tweet Did he tweet which one was it he said it yeah. Said that we have three hundred and fifty yards rushing all last year so that's that's quite the jump for the second year back and especially. On the colts have said they want to be running back by committee so I think there are some young pieces to work with with MAC and what Jordan Wilkins the fifth round pick, out of night's camp, and I kind of bored More of a hybrid player probably help you out on special teams maybe a wide out as well so that's really really. Unproven and when roster cuts happen and the end of August you know you might be a decision that you look for more of a, more of a veteran objects I. Do think there, is something. To work with their but if the group they just, hasn't proved, themselves on the NFL level quite yet as you see it so far as in training camp Who is the player that we should be looking at and who's the player who you think is causing the most concern But I. Think a player that's really, surprises then the Niko Autry new defensive lineman signed from Oakland this past season. Back in March, I think one of the I think it was the first free, agent signing, McColl patio in, twenty eighteen and you know when you're talking about quit Nelson and how dominant the rookies ban, you know in full pads the guy that have occasionally been Autry and. The colts need some help with this new four three Friday and, Autry I think could be kind of a nice surprise I. Think that a guy that you feel, good about concern standpoint I'd probably go back into the secondary and go Quincy Wilson the second round pick some last year Who figure to be. Maybe the number one cornerback a corner in. General I think as a physician group that hasn't had a lot of play making here. In the first couple of, weeks at grand park and they're rotating a lot of bodies there doesn't look. Like many documents, in terms of starters and that group so they need Quincy Wilson, to a, merge because you, spent a second round pick on them you know we know full well how valuable corners are, today that I Sal and the colts just don't have a lot to. Work with with that you know kind of really a it's of, your top four corners I would say three of them are..

"Lot more than three or four second round picks even if you hit on for those guys so second round picks it makes sense for the colts because they've got their quarterback we know andrew lock has got the injury problems but they feel comfortable that he's coming back they'd got to build a team around him and this gives them a lot of flexibility and a couple of second round picks this year to help them in addition to the wrong to fill out some of those needs so it makes sense for both but if you're chasing a quarterback and you know i got asked this or why would they make a move now well again they obviously like three if they don't like three then they're making a huge risk that guy couldn't be there but they obviously in my mind like three and are comfortable with whoever they're going to get and they needed to kinda beat some other teams to the spot so to speak because there were some other teams like the bills like the dolphins perhaps the broncos at five there were interested in moving up so you know i think the price would have gotten even higher headed gotten closer to draft day and the culture definitely making the phone calls to try to move down because they can still get a they're not in the quarterback shopping business so moving down to six will still allow them to get pretty much the player that there were looking to get any way at three well they'd have to sweeten it a lot because obviously moving from three to six is different than moving in three to twelve it's gonna it would have cost a lot more for the bills to move up which is why they have twelve twenty one so they got two first round picks that they can offer.

"Mm um jump into another young quarterback andrew lock up in indy i guess he had surgery in the offseason preview early in the offseason and he is not been able to come back from that shoulder injury i guess he had like a a rotator cuff or labour merciful like that might theory on andrew luck is that he's smart so he he feels more pain is there any credence to my dump theory well i mean uh uh from afar but using experience andrew luckiest said it it is a post your label tear which is harder to recover from that enhance your they will tear and there's no question that athletes feel things differently uh that's not too at all to call andrew luck soft or anything but it's different injuries affect different athletes in different ways but you know a throwing shoulder throwing is one of the hardest things we ask her body to do be at pitching or throwing as a quarterback without belonging as a quarterback is in some ways harder than as a picture because for a picture you're throwing from a stationary position and every time whereas quarterback not only are you've throwing on the run the and and on the move in people coming at you change in your arm angles but also the players moved to i mean the battered the home plate doesn't move in the pitcher's mound as it move not the case for quarterbacks so that makes recovery from a throwing injury that much harder so what happens uh n e might not be able.

"Okay i think the bigger story is actually in terms of football dak sean leaseback tie smith love tackle back giant and utter chaos deck has to win this game what happens when it comes to young quarterbacks and dax in year two we know instantly some guys are franchise quarterbacks andrew lock to shawn watson instantly then there's some guys that struggle year one derek car jared golf and you're like wow okay then there are other guys that are pretty good year one go into the take near two and three jamus winston the question for some people now is is dak prescott a franchise quarterback because without some of his players he's been terrible i'm here to tell ya dacas their franchise quarterback and there's a very easy number that tells me this do you think dak has an a head coach now jason garrett btoc do you think his defense is in a defense now may be a minus on the defensive front but it to see in the back in okay do you think he has an a wide receiving corps hell no much closer to see minus so you know he doesn't have a great team around him he has some parts of it offensive line running back that are really real really special here's all you need to know the league average for rushing yards in a game for all the teams the league average is a hundred and ten yards a game rushing that's the league average when dak prescott gets a hundred in ten yards rushing support that's not great it's just the league average he's seventeen in three.

"Satisfaction that you would have if you're in that front office or if you're a fan and you made it happen for yourself with the shawn watson wool what does anybody in indianapolis have the brag about with peyton manning andrew lock at didn't take guts that didn't take creativity number one overall you take the consensus number one guy maybe you dodged a bullet in ryan leaf but it's worth noting ryan leaf gave you red flag after red flag after warning sign after warning sign in the lead up to the predraft processed peyton manning was the pick andrew luck was the pick i don't care if our g three was there or not so indianapolis you locked into your fortune peyton manning andrew lock tampa bay look into their fortune with jamus winston tampa bay outside of the colts the clippers like what are the worst run franchises in all of pro sports think about the way that post john gruden they started hiring and firing guys and they had ricky more than they had lovey smith and then they bring endure cutter there were three and five three eight coaches in five years foreign six four had coaches in five years like that's not the way that you on your business but because you get jamus winston will now there a dark horse candidate to win the nfc next year this is the way that it goes for an indianapolis or at tampa or a tennessee where you're ownership situation is so bad and so dysfunctional your scaring away top candidates for the job josh daniels didn't want that job chipped kelly whatever you think of them post philadelphia eagles post san francisco forty nine ers he didn't want the job it's a mike malarkey ends up backing into the job completely over his skis but you get more cause morio to okay i mean the way the eu as a texans fan and if you're within the texans runoff is rick smith bill o'brien bob mcnair cal mcnair the satisfaction that you'd be able to have if the shawn watson hits and if you start making.

"Five past the hour for the body vacation nbc sports radio derek harper a couple of weeks ago set a deadline of training camp to work out a new deal currently that deal is almost done and what it is john derek car will most likely signed the richest contract in nfl history at least the yearly value will be the boasted nfl history right now which eight drew lucky twenty four and a half million dollars the reports are that this deal will be for twenty five million dollars per season there are car's been really good he has either to find a franchise quarterback in round two of the way that oakland did a few years back chelsea guess what they were right he started day one dole forgetting that draft coming out at drafty started to remember 'cause they play the jets the first week and he had problems because look rex ryan is going to feast on a rookie quarterback making his nfl debut but he settled down significantly in the second half of the season last couple years dr cars were brilliant you've got a heck of a start to identify career first three years and for me when you think about the fact that he is gonna be compared to andrew lock because they are together going to be the highestpaid player in the nfl the question is ultimately a fraud what if you have to start a team tomorrow and i don't mean a fantasy teams alexei obviously you gotta start of quarterback right if you're gonna start a team triggered expansion team yet the draft a quarterback all you taking derek car who's going to be slightly higher paid or you take any andrew lock who up until now were when the steelers done was the highest paid see to me the simple answers all you take derek car look what he's done he's getting rewarded for those last couple of years he's been wait is interception totals are shrinking makes good decisions he's got a good.

"Philip rivers jamus winston this goes to the cool factor and it's i've said this before if you had every quarterback available on the open market and you considered everything is the gm including aids that you wouldn't go get big ben breeze or brady now because there too old if you at every quarterback on the market the you could sign to a fiveyear deal you wouldn't draft breeze bradier big benaco gm would the top four or five guys would be aaron rodgers number one andrew lock number two derek car russell wilson matt ryan that your top five unquestionably and dak finish above russell wilson in andrew lock thing about that andrew lock andrew look took a bad roster to the afc championship russell wilson gone to two super bowls but russell wilson's not that relatable maybe to religious for some players no coup factor andrew lock runs a book club he's got an peered it shows you that the cool factor works in the locker room the despite super bowls and success from russell wilson in andrew lock the reason they work in the locker room is because they win and you can't deny it they just win a lot there just really good the stats don't lie but dak prescott with a year under his belt with a best online the best young running back good offensive coaches players vote him above russell wilson in andrew lock in it's the coup fact the source said about dak prescott it's not his arm it's not as lags it's not as size it's not there isn't it quality to him and it works in the locker room and that is a real thing.
