"Langs, reporter producer for MLB dot com, Sarah, how you doing on this Monday? Doing great buster, how are you? I'm doing great. I'm still, I was not at the game yesterday on Sunday Night baseball, but it was fun to see the highlights from last night with Albert Poole's pitching. I talked to Tim about the joy that Albert had in that moment. It got me thinking this morning because you're someone who draws the joy out of baseball so much. What's the most enjoyable moment we've had early this season? Because here in my two candidates, and I have a hard time picking between these two. One, when Anthony Rendon hit that left handed home run, I was, I thought it was cool that he did it, but what I thought was just as cool was how when he did it, I got the feeling the old school part of Anthony Rendon was like, I don't know if I should have done that. And he ran around the bases with his head down. He didn't want to smile or celebrate, even though there was a position player on the mound. And the second candidate for the most fun thing that happened in baseball this year, Travis Darnell, getting hit by about a 55 mile an hour pitch in Brett Phillips and Darnell flopping like he'd been hitting the neck by and Nolan Ryan fastball. And everybody having a great laugh on the field. What about you? Those were amazing. I mean, I feel like we've gotten 5 Brit Phillips moments already this year. We had him, we've had him pitch what twice three times. We had that crazy catchy made when he was pitching and he ran like 90 feet to make a couch by the visiting dugout, yeah, I think that was absolutely outstanding, but Albert pools last night has to be one of the top moments. I mean, the smile. The Adam Wainwright tweet, I saw this morning. I didn't see it last night, the tweeted, hey, don't worry, Albert. I also gave up a home run in my debut. And then he said, hey, maybe in 17 years you and Andrew kisner will tie yadi in my record or break our record. I mean, that was absolutely outstanding. So, I mean, just a great, great moment there. All right, let's play the numbers game. Number three number three is zero. So speaking of some pretty crazy moments we've had this year. The pirates yesterday did not get a hit and they won the game. So the reds did not throw a no header because they did not throw 9 innings. It has to be 9 endings to be a no hitter. But it was the 6th time since at least 1900 the team has not gotten ahead and won a game. So the last time this happened was the Dodgers in 2008, a lot of people remember that game it was started by the angels by Jared weaver. Of course there's Andy Hawkins that I think a lot of people think about when you think about no hitters and losing again not official no hitters, but pretty crazy and I love baseball that something that seems so outlandish has happened 6 times since 1900, but that was just a crazy game. I mean, for me, I was working, I was going through things. We're getting ready. We're in no hitter protocol. All of a sudden the pirates score and it's like, wait, this isn't no hitter protocol because it's not going to be a no hitter, which is just crazy anyway. Number two number two is 100. So over the weekend, chili Otani hit his 100th, and then it's 101st career home runs. So, you know, there's a lot of nodes we're always talking about Babe Ruth, but what I want to take a look at was most career strikeouts as a pitcher for Blair's to hit at least a hundred career home runs. So a Babe Ruth 501 strikeouts and of course 714 home runs. We have a tiny 260 strikeouts on the mound, the 101 home runs now. And then next on the list, I just thought this was sun. George sisler, 63 strikeouts as a pitcher, 102 home runs. Number.
Sweet! Cardinals win 16th in row, go ahead in 9th, top Cubs
"It's Sweet Sixteen for the cardinals they ran their team record winning streak to sixteen games with a four two win over the cubs Andrew Kisner scored the tying run on a wild pitch in the ninth inning for the cardinals who on the majors longest winning streak since the twenty seventeen Indians one twenty two in a row the toughest thing about the whole play was you know everybody's got a weird weird brick backstop that's kinda angle funny so you just have to make sure kicks off far enough to score and it did and I you know I snuck into scored an error brought in the cardinals final run Harrison betters fifteenth Homer of the season tied it at two with two out in the eighth Paul Goldschmidt also went deep for the guards who connected for a team record thirteen homers in the four game series at Wrigley Field I'm Dave Ferrie

"Catcher is something we've heard rumors of and would free up andrew kisner to get more at bats and be more active on the roster and ali sanchez guy. We saw earlier in the season briefly. It was on the taxi squad for quite a while. He's the catcher on the forty man roster so he would be the logical move yvonne herrera down in springfield. Also on the roster. But he's not really ready for major league action at this point in time. Yeah no question about that You mentioned dakota hudson over the reports out of palm beach. What did you hear from your guys. That are very solid very solid. I didn't see velocity numbers but he he threw you know he didn't just go ask. Why was he through multiple pitches and he'd been working out for some time you know he's he's basically just almost twelve months now from his tommy john surgery but he's been throwing for some time. I saw him throw. When i was down there and mow was down there when i was there. He watched him a doable pin. Which i didn't see and all and there's a lot of optimism that dakota can come up and help the cardinals this year now. Is he going to be the difference maker and season. probably not. but you know if you've got a guy who can come in and throw a couple of bear strong innings out bent. That's going to help. Because we've seen the the starters other than wainwright you know aren't really going that deep into games and that continues to put pressure on the pen. Let's talk about one yepez. Hopefully i'm saying that properly. But he was the guy that was picked up in the matt. Adams deal few years ago. And i'll tell you what Brian he's putting them some pretty good numbers. Yeah one yep is was a young kid i mean. He's i think it was eighteen when the cardinals got him in trader. Seventeen for matt adams. The first time around he's from venezuela as a third baseman wasn't really great at the hot corner. They moved into first base. He's also played a corner outfield. So he's sort of like a john hausky but with more power and more defensive versatility and one of the things that hurt. John hausky his longer bid to stay with the car was he was a first base only guy and yepez compla- for different positions. But what's exciting about him is that he was from. The very start was talked about as a power potential guy but he never really showed until the season ee start. The season with springfield played exceptionally well. The first month Had a nine fifty eight o. P. s. aa and got the call up when when the goski mood and they needed a first baseman. And so you know. He moved ahead of of baker. The that luke baker yeah. Tcu right looking baker. Yeah and so in in memphis now. He's been there yet. This has been a three months is first month. I'm still getting used to the level. Only only.

"A scrape by with a split against detroit. But they win that game today and is always nice to visit with you. How are things going. Great dan and you know there were also past the point now where there's about three weeks left in the minor league system and as we talked about last time the cardinals will bring up a couple of players potentially from the minor leagues. Although one of those spots might be dakota hudson. Return for example. Yeah that'd be interesting. How do you think they handled that in terms of they're not just going to throw them live into major league action. Where do you think he starts in how that works. Well a lot depends on the cardinals. Loton starwood minorly rehabs down in jupiter. And that's where the cut because hudson is. I saw him actually throw down there last week. so he maybe he appears in a game with palm beach or two and then you know the other places that they play will depend on which teams are at home. 'cause they liked the cardinals to control the environment. So if memphis is on the road and shrink yields at home they might add springfield or vice versa. Or maybe even go to peoria. But i think given it hudson's probably gonna throw just an inning or two here and there. They probably won't need a lot of rehab for him a given that he's been ramping up his workload for some time. Now it'd be interesting to see in terms of catching now that it's official yada. Your molina comes out yesterday. Signs a one year extension then today says next year is it. I am done with being a player in baseball. He's going to retire. It does make it interesting. The immediate future's of andrew kisner and avante harare. How is harare. Been fearing here. As of late borough started the season age twenty and was challenged a aa for the first time. So he's you know he's been young for his levels his whole career. He turned twenty one. In the beginning.

"But you know it's really nice to see herrera step up and play well that aa because you know. Obviously the cardinals are still trying to figure out what to do. With the catching position and yadira molina may be back another year. Which makes you wonder what andrew kisner future is. And it could be that harare will be able to step up and say yeah i can be that heir-apparent and potentially enable the cardinals to do something different with andrew business this winter if they so choose if people for god and wrap it up with this september call. Ups are different. It's not like anybody on the forty man come on up it's a different deal. So maybe explain how that works for fans also Dc anybody being called up by the cardinals. Yeah it's interesting you know. You've talked about the the the labor trade offs. We're talking about that earlier in our in our chat here dan and one of the trade offs that was made was as as folks were called a year ago. They expanded active rosters to twenty six players from twenty-five well at the same time baseball decided no more with the up to forty players allowed up to the entire forty man roster up in september were only going to allow two players and while that those reviewed as separate issues they kinda balance out money wise. And i doubt it's a coincidence. Because guess what they have to pay another player a minimum of half a million dollars a year at the major league level and they can recoup that expense by having only two players up from twenty six to twenty eight instead of the cardinals averaged I went back and looked the data somewhere between six and eight call ups every september so instead of six or eight you only have to so it'll be interesting to see if the cardinals bring up relievers Of course three better minimum Makes puts less of a premium on having large bullpen. they certainly need help with the bat But the reality is the cupboards pretty bear at aaa memphis in terms of any potential impact hitters to call up or they would've been called up already You know we saw Just a williams are in year. He's on the injured list other than he and allie sanchez. there are no triple a hitters. That are on the forty man roster right now you know folks would be interested to see nolan gorman or maybe a one yep as. I really doubt they're ready. And on the pitching side. You know it's the same suspects that our candidates woodford oviedo on hell ron bone on the bullpen side. Fernandez elhage whitley So you know. There's not going to be probably they..
