Cloth off the embroidery I was always marginal when my site was was good. So it's it's even harder now. So i doubt and nobody's worse with binoculars than i am. I can't i can't deal with them so It's not as easy for me as it used to be there just Glance over and at least take off a number. And tell you who's who's going by. So i've been i have jotted some down Some numbers with some notes and then we'll look them up. We get a chance. I can tell you. Actually just they're just coming by was raging bull that That wasn't that wasn't hard to see. Saw the mile the blau cloth. So there's still plenty of horses obviously have yet to arrive and it was a huge weekend of of works in fact. It was kinda dizzying to be honest. The the the amount of action between here and churchill Also across the country santa anita final works for the baffert horses and for the others that The sadler and and and more michael mccarthy sources It was a just a frenetic weekend. And you know even even out Beyond you know the horses the horses over at the spectrum at the training center and No miller at saint louis. Ray i mean the. There's there was a lot to keep track of. And you know the the nice thing is that you do have If you want to go to breeders cups website they've got links to you. Know the sources for the you know the various workout video that you know that's available at most of the At least the racetrax not You know little tougher. You know their own little window and they might stretch their legs. They've got the. They got the dogs up out in the outer the outer pads. Obviously so things are. "Well I. As. You Talk to me has he popped in my head and I thought you know what? There's a isn't that a isn't there a parallel there Jay. Before we go and. We've got the autumn mist tomorrow, and then you mentioned the twilight Derby on Sunday. Any many opinions for the weekend? We were talking about you Michael Mccarthy I. Really think smooth like straddle has a potential for a big bounce back in the. In the twilight? Derby I thought he got A. Rare. Exceedingly rare poor ride in that range from John Velasco's just chasing a couple of. overmatched longshots well, wide the fairly hot pace and you just came up empty and. I think back at Santa Anita where he's. Won before and run well before an unfair firmer turf I think he's got a chance for a big bounce back effort. In this race but some really interesting horses you shipped in feel Farmington road one is grass debut at colonial. He's coming for the race which helps spice it up and then you've got. field paths for Mike Maker who. Was Third in the American turf and certainly as A. Top level three-year-old grass source so I mean those couple of really interesting shipments coming in for the race just really help spicer race up but I'm. I'm a big fan of express train I think this might be fighting off a little much for him getting on the grass. but I think he's got the potential to be a really good. Late season three year old and certainly, but top four year old I. Don't. If you take some the grass, he's going to be formidable in here. I'm just not sure that this is I think he might be more of A. Malibu and then into the into the winter for kind of races. But I'm intrigued see how he does against against this group on Sunday. I like smooth like straighten. They're Nice. Birkdale respectively aboard gets back aboard was with him for the Hoya Win and they just looking I had not really I printed it out this morning and hadn't really look deeply. There's no shortage of speed this thing. The that Horsa Pollick Petro dominant soul likes to be prominent Margot's boy for Craig Lewis Drafts along forwardly express train won't be too far behind there's there's some licken here. There's some speed and I think. You know smooth straight shown he can sit and finish he did. Chant what he wanted. At at Church, already be field past that day and I thought he had the opportunity last time to talk in and get that kind of a trip but it just didn't work out that way and I think of those horses that you mentioned are intent on on leading early in a couple of them are drawn inside of him. He has the you know he has the opportunity it looks like on paper to drop them to a really good trip. Soon, we should probably mention that that The. Show worse from thousand words and honorary AP's shared belief. Kiss today goodbye. Then got a try in the del Mar Derby for Cruel Jack and it did not run badly in his returned to the turf. And he he's. He's kind of kind of interesting. I'm looking to sitting down in Saturday and looking at the numbers and look at the pace figures and and taken Taking a look at this Nice and then of course, there's those maiden races that I mentioned as well. Well, Jay. You know feels like we're keeping ourselves busy until. Until the the serious pre entry time for Breeders Cup but there's no shortage of things to to keep us occupied. It should be a fun weekend because there's a lot of good grazing around the country and you got the Raven Keeneland as well I. think that was one. Mentioned earlier I mean there's just there's just there's some good stuff to pay attention to this weekend. That's for sure thoroughbred La Tomorrow. So yes. Thoroughbred La from from nine to ten in in southern. California am eight thirty K. LA on your radio dial. What did you do to celebrate the Lakers victory? Nothing not. Just. I just I'm I'm ambivalent towards towards basketball. It's not a sport I've ever really been a huge fan of I just never been. A Laker Fan I. Don't dislike them I just it just it's weird. I grew up as you know I grew up in La and the only La team. I've always been a fan of and just still to this day. I'm a fan of the Kings I'm not A. You know indifferent towards the dodgers indifferent towards the Lakers. So I just I am the rams and raiders have come and gone over the years. So the chargers are dead to me. You know after they left standing. There you go so. Now I just I didn't didn't celebrate it. Certainly wasn't one of the people in downtown. La Setting off home-made fireworks and On top of.

Literally full of life I mean he's just always was energetic and. Ready. To go that'd be keeping up with him was impossible drove fast. He walked fast we'd. Get everything fast. Fast and they ran fast when you look at what he accomplished you know he took over for his father. and. He actually was basically is. Trained for twenty two years and the number of top horses that he had matt time before he stepped away when the doctor said, look keep going like this. You're GONNA have a you're you're you'RE GONNA have a fatal heart attack and he I remember. Vividly, and you know when he when he? Walked away. Ninety six I remember being at the racist of the day ran his last horse and he really had A. He was at peace with it, and he I I never honestly thought he'd be able to turn it off like that and walk away but he did he really he really was able to do it but. He. Compliments he had as a trainer. He can train sprinters time to explode. He could trim grass mares like Kostroma could train the horse like man could win going six furlongs in a mile and a quarter of the space of three weeks Just. He was a heck of a horse trainer one of the best ever, and I was really glad that he got into the hall of fame and that he was around. Still to go appreciate it so that I'm glad that before he himself. Got To such a great point that he was able to. Be there and and and be properly acknowledged in person for that accomplishment. And in one of the Great. Harmonies that that happens you got in with. Best Pal. He trained best pal to You know victory in the very first acidic classic. You've taken over the as the trainer the Horse midway through his three year old year. He does it three year old he beat older horses and a really good group of older horses. In the. in in that inaugural Pacific. Classic and Ninety One. So it was just a great One of many big victories that Gary and and you know best pals four year old years one of the great. Campaigns. That you know that horses has ever had and Gary was his trainer for that number big races and shipping and then. Just. Tremendous. your best. Pal. I don't think they got into the hall of fame that same year Okay. I thought they I. Thought they did maybe Yeah. When you said I mean the foul got it in twenty ten and I think Gary was twenty fourteen, right? Okay. Okay. I thought maybe I love that. That's always the the I the ideal when I had it happens it does happen When they when they can when they can intersect, you know what occurs to me as you as you laid out the timing of his career and that resume. It doesn't sound much different than David white lease career and resume. No. It's so good. Good comparison you know that really is and you know. "Half and I was worried about it and and I think that be right hoping by someone from the news on Yes pretty sure and you know he moved early which is dangerous on wet ground going a mile and a half but he got it out and just just he was fantastic. Just just fantastic. So I was. I was very happy about that. One seventeen forty seven eighty five ten and it ended up actually with some other Prices That that filled out yet a fifty six dollar exact for two bucks Twenty cents try paid one sixty one and the super twenty cents super paid nine forty one so some big numbers and then of course later you know you had you had nature strip Beat Santa Ana Lane in the sprint in the Smith. I can't seem to get Santana Lane over the top but then Natalie right there. It was good effort. No not at all. But then the performance of Nafta and Andrew Hawkins gave out Natalia everybody And not as just as a long shot play but as a win as as a wind choice and pays one hundred and twelve seventy unbelievable at his back and and and she's back she's back Tomorrow night running again. That's so that was the first of the two big weekends at Randwick. We'll let Andrew deal with that unless you've got any ideas about the the sequence but let's get to Hong Kong in first okay Last Sunday duty generation won the champions trophy. He looked like the old generation. He was ridden cold They turned for home. Zach had moved the muscles the race went according to form with the Star and why Kaku stock in the inside Zach took the lead about a furlong out was the strongest wire Time Kinda slow that night. One thirty three point four nine and he's running faster but Justice very dominant performance. Now when he comes back and three weeks for the the big international races those handicap races. So he's GonNa have to give. Why Cou I think it's eight pounds so that that was weight for age the next round. The big races are handicap races but beauty generation. Look like he's back on his game to Sprint Cup. While I was all interested in at Theros three-year-old who broke horribly rushed up. The traffic was ranked as could be I just. He could not have run a worse raise. Meanwhile voyage voyage warrior guns to the front. And that's it. The the Crimson tide dropped the number four Ohio state goes up to number two while Clemson rises to number three Georgia. Georgia is now number five. MINNESOTA'S UPSET OVER PENN state raises them six spots that number seven while Penn state drops the number not be packed twelve suspended referee Matt Richards. One game after an officiating crew awarded a penalty to the wrong team in California's thirty three to twenty win against Washington state on Saturday and and finally when Louis. CK was at the height of his popularity before getting me food. He often tried to get Joe Patchy out of retirement for a tiny role roll on his acclaimed. TV Show Louis Patchy not only declined but he told Louis. CK that he should quit doing. Stand up because he wasn't funny for all the latest headlines Information during the sportscenter on ESPN radio all throughout the day. Is Joe Patchy one of those guys in acting where you're like. Where did he go because gene? Hackman and Sean Connery you kind of understand. They got to an age where they're like all right. I don't WanNa do this anymore Eh. But Joe Patchy got there earlier than most he kind of he kind of vanished. Stop just stop doing stuff he did. He's back with the Irishman. Yeah he's just dropped a new single to his first new album in like twenty. One years I listened to the song is actually not that I've been want. Can we get it. Where is it the shock is? This is his second album Joe PESCI. She has multiple albums. Yeah he the previous album. He didn't character though he did like my cousin. Vinny names like a rap Song Antonio put it on the poll. Please geno the JOE PESCI. She had the two albums yes. Please find that song for me as fast any song from Joe Patchy that you possibly can find. Please find that one of the fastest possible. Well I mean just anything you can get me would be delightful and I thank you for bringing that into my life and I can't wait to hear the musical styling Joe Passionate especially in this one. You're saying it's good. I mean it's all right here. We gotta take the PODCAST. This baby girl from one Joe Patchy she looks nothing like the woman in my head. Singing did that even sound like other than sound like a man to me once. We started with US hookah. Pretty good stuff can wait for the entire album. My favorite track album is. I've got news for you. The Mike Ryan speaking of I've got news for you. Wants to do a segment here where he asked me. Hey Dan did you catch up on what happened to Joe Flacco while you're gone. I'm again I. I was checking in Japan all the time I was going to Joe FLACCO DOT com to see what was going on with Joe FLACCO. You missed it. Yeah now Joe. FLACCO finds himself on the I.. Dr For being honest. He said this about his head coach after a loss and it was the most shocking thing because quarterback talk about their coaches like this and Joe flacco is never said anything anything. Interesting that bleep it which is weird because John Elway told me you was entering his priorities as he's not in his prime he is absolutely. Are you giving no bleeps. Renou two and six football team and we're like afraid to go for it in a two minute drill. Who Cares if you give the ball back to the guys with a minute? Forty seconds left. They obviously obviously got field goal. Anyway and once again we're two and six football team and it just feels like we're kind of afraid to lose a game it's thirty five at the end of the game. Who Cares if they have a time out there at the end or not not getting into field? Goal Range isn't that tough so you're just putting your defense in these bad situations. I just felt like what do we have to lose. Why can't we be aggressive in some of these situations? That's kind of how I feel about a lot of the gain today now. You didn't hear it in that sound bite. But as he delivered that he apparently broke his neck and is now out for the year has been the same sense Antonio per it on the poll please at Lebatardshow more shocking. Okay Joe flacco saying something interesting and controversial or Joe Passion singing like a beautiful notable thirty eight year old Latin woman. Hey I'm andy if you don't know me it's probably because I'm not famous but I did.

"ESPN radio all throughout the day. Are I want to ask. Andrew Hawkins this question about Joe Thomas. They're both joining us now. To talk about the resplendent three and six browns that Mike Ryan insists that we talk about Andrew under what is an thank you both for joining us. A what is more impressive is it. Cal ripken playing two thousand six hundred thirty two consecutive games or is it Joe. Thomas playing ten thousand three hundred sixty three consecutive snaps. I'm Joe Thomas Not because I'm biased mostly agree because also in that streak is the amount of losses he took which might have been. Even more than CAL ripken baseball bigger. Good I mean he is. He's a hall of fame loser right the mazing honestly honestly and truly uh-huh forget about the beatings. He took the body or just the laws. I love how cocky Hawkins is as if he didn't play for the bengals. Ah didn't you retire Andrew. Didn't you retire right before getting to play with Tom Brady. Weren't you about to play with Tom. Brady yeah they were just like. Hey Man we're just gonNa put you in the ring honored. I'm like okay cool So they were like you don't even have to play because you're automatically a legendary patriots and Savor so oh yeah call it up man. Sorry what happened. A couple of things happened right so my last year in Cleveland which was in two thousand sixteen we went one fifteen. You can imagine how fun that was And I was like okay. I'm going to retire. And then the thing about football is right before you retire or any any time you start thinking about calling it up. You always back out because the only thing you've ever known so last minute I remember going flew to. Cleveland met with Sashi Brown or and I was like hey man I was going to retire but I think I want to try to at least win a ring. Maybe it's just a sour taste because the season and so I asked him I release breath and go figure he was like. Yeah whatever I could care less going to release me I went ahead and signed with the Patriots and I got up there and thinking thinking okay. I'm ready to do this. And to be quite honest I was not ready to do anything of the such And I was like you know what I think. I'd probably came in just just a couple of years too late and my career because at that time it had so much going on off the field I was ready for new challenges and for me and it was like and we talked about this before down when I was highly questionable it was like my goal was to play one game in the NFL. It would never to be an MVP was never to win a pro bowl. It was never to go to the Super Bowl. It was literally to play one game so at that point I hadn't playing with house money so long I was like look it was. It was awesome while it lasted. But it's time to move on. Do you understand what Andrew elected absolutely absolutely and the craziest thing about Andrew Luck is. I could imagine he's called it up probably years after he actually wanted to again. It's just you've done something for so long. It's like a relationship that you can't stand think about relationships you've been in where you in the girl girl both can't stand each other but you stick around just because it's Villier that's what it's like retire from football when you're actually ready to do it. Joe Are you done with us because I called Hall of Fame Loser I ask you that question. Are you sitting not me. I thought it was pretty funny. A heart set everybody that retires. I had that moment where they feel like they want to go back Well Park last season was one in fifteen but my last season was owing sixteen. And it's funny. How you witless exactly never get that back in one more game? I'm happily retired happily podcast happily in the hall of fame name of looters out. You go out sixteen Tomahawk Chill podcasts. With Joe Thomas and Andrew Hawkins it comes out weekly Weekly you should download it wherever it is that you get your podcast So Joe this football team that you're watching the browns football team. Is it a smart football team. Well not right now. They're they're not playing smart They're playing better. I tell you what they've they've they've finally eliminated the penalties and the turnovers that were killing them all season long But they're playing like a young football team and I think that's a little bit to be expected with a new offense and you coach and A lot of young players who typically young players make stupid mistakes And we saw on the goal line a bunch of times on Sunday. I want to make some really good plays and they've got some really good things going on. Their offense is starting to click a little bit more. The running game is pretty tough. They still are making those dumb mistakes I think if they do want to go on a little bit run and make it interesting down the stretch here and try to sneak in with one of those wild card spots they gotta start playing a little bit more like a veteran team because going down to the goal line and getting zero points in eight plays is not smart winning football. Well they caught a break there on one right where they kicked the field goal. They were going to do it again. Kitchens was GonNa do it again on fourth and short from like the two or three yard line and then you had a false start so they had to kick the field goal. Take the points that they need it so they got a little bit fortunate with the penalty. It was the first time this year we can say that. They got fortunate with one of their penalties but Yeah when you get out of the goal line it's all about details. It's all about execution because everything gets smaller. We hear it all the time but it is true and when you're a young team that's doing things for the first time you know you gotta get eleven guys doing the right thing on an often to play. That's why it's so hard to offense in football and take so much practice And Right now. They just haven't been able do that. You see the browns consistently. They moved the ball up and down the field and they get to the red zone and they shoot beat themselves in the foot so I like the improvement. I like the progress that they're making but to make a playoff run. They've gotta get better those critical situations judge Avas Andrew. d'you Hawkins with us on. ESPN radio the Tomahawk. Show podcast with Joe and Andrew comes out weekly. Download it wherever you get your podcast Joel. I'm wondering if the browns get ever Redo knowing in what they know now. Do you think they take Lamar Jackson over Baker Mayfield. I don't think so because right now. I'm sure the browns are thinking that the jury is still out out all these guys You know it's it's the. NFL disease is we always have one account a guy or label them a bus after one game after one season right. Now we're still in the middle of the second season for both guys. Lamar Jackson he looks like the MVP of the NFL right now. His passing game approved has running is off the charts. We probably haven't seen a dynamic dynamic player with the football on his hand probably since like Barry Sanders. But I really. I really believe that we've got to be a little bit more patient with these guys. Three or four ears in before we can definitely say this is a guy that yeah he's definitely a franchise guys definitely a bust wherever wherever they shake out But I will say I'm I'm sure the people in Baltimore Pretty happy. Andrew explained to me how it is it. Oh del Beckham has been turned into a pedestrian receiver. I think the the scheme thing man and and it's funny because I don't think people realize how tough the Cleveland like fan base is and like blocking out that no always just think. Oh man those guys lose. NOBODY CARES CLEVELAND. Plans care they care more than any other team. I've ever been a part of and I think for Oakdale and not just tail the entire offense. Sometimes they play too much what everybody thinks. Man We gotta get a scheme going. I just feel like right now. The play calling is hey. I have so many players I just WANNA make sure everybody's happy. It's hard to win football games that way it's hard to get an offense going So you have to make the players fit into a scheme Rather than to see fit the players but you know that that's the time I mean. Yes he's the head coach but ultimately Freddie gets into his first year as a full-time offense coordinator But yeah they they gotta get that figured out And just understand that it's less about you know whatever what everyone's numbers are more about all we putting w on the board because if you're not doing either again that's when everyone starts talking do either one of you have a good story about sort of beyond beyond the record that you have articulated the one in fifteen in the Elwin sixteen where you're looking around the locker room or during a game and you're just like man we really are losers like we can't do anything anything right this. We just watched hockey. I look at hundred face twice a week and I think myself man podcast gets people are made for each other. I don't know there's been no one in the history of sports who's been better at what they do and lost more than you. The money that one fifteen season and honestly and this is the honest to God truth. This was a moment where I knew it was time to retire like in football. Oh you got to have this irrational confidence where you can take on Lions and tigers and bears. I'm five seven grade like if I don't have that confidence myself I would get pummeled. I can't go in there. Scared football is is is not a sport for the week a heart or mind going into the two thousand sixteen season you know we started saying good players get cut right eight and it was like wait a minute that guy better than this guy. Why not here? Halfway through the season there was one point in the game. Rat came out onto the field for pre game and I was sitting at the fifty yard line. I looked at the other team and I looked at our team and I thought to myself. There's no way we can win this football game and law. Aw Aw man I was like Oh yeah. It's time to go this. You know I'm starting to get through to be here because they're gonNa Pummel us today and I feel like I'm the only person and then know that Joe. Did you ever have that feeling. Did you ever have that feeling no you know. I always had that irrational confidence but I will. I will admit I think it was my last season I wanted people. We did the Owen. Sixteen Patrick and we started the season. And all three of our quarterbacks on a roster a combined total of zero. NFL wins. And and I said this is not the formula for success. I'm not sure I was ready for over sixty but I knew it was gonna be a struggle Andrew when when you're five seven and you're looking at what Joe Thomas was when he was eating four thousand calories a day and are you like how. Why am I playing a combat imbed sport with a human being? Looks like this yes I I used to speak to myself. That daily You know and my thing was not like football is everybody's job is different the good because I was scared to death to get hit right. Sound like they're going to kill me Maybe everybody good football player. I give you another story of a moment. We realize we're losers or are they even now back in two thousand fifteen we were fourteen. We played the chargers at home and we won the game and prevented the own sixteen season and twenty sixteen..

That is a good daddy. They take care of his kids. Well at the risk of upsetting. I'm going to once again point out that the latest of the latest it is example of the negative side effects of lebron's addiction to fame the thirty four year old basketball star claims to have identified football's most unique challenge and further claims to have invented solution class helmets players being assigned a helmet and do not have no voice and no one knows who they are because of the helmet and no one ever truly know on that there's actually a person inside there and not taking that seriously they will be seen by uninterrupted did and this right here is the farce glass helmet and meaning behind it is all these great athletes athletes that play our wonderful sport football will be heard and we'll be saying because they are at the end of the day they are people as well. They take these helmets off and they are people when they have the helmets on as well so when i first saw this. I thought it was a comedy skit. Get thought lebron was having some fun and then i watched a four minute youtube video titled the glass helmet project tackling one of football's most unique challenges. Oh sweet jesus. I think the broader series the bronze side kick maverick carter some nondescript former n._f._l. Player andrew hawkins and an artist artist are pushing the notion that glass helmets or symbolic glass helmets would liberate and humanize oppressed n._f._l. Players i can walk down the street. Be the star football team and nobody knows who i am because people don't recognize you. Ah as players were kind of looked at as warriors or gladiators right and gladiators aren't people who you remember their name take a lot of people when it comes to football they cheer for the laundry in the sense that they refer their teams more than having a direct connection with the players hopefully one day we'll see glass is home is on the
