The Obsession of Sin With Andrew Klavan
"You mean partially in a sense that some people of faith can become obsessed with sin and trying to wipe out sin and you're saying that it doesn't bother you in that way. You see it differently. I think they get obsessed with everything, but the question that they're trying to avoid is who am I supposed to be? Who was I made to be? What did God have in mind when he made me? There's not a single person on the Planet Earth. There really is not who does not know for certain he is not the person he was made to be. Every single person knows this every single person. You know, I always make this joke on my show when I say this will change your life, will change your life for the better. I don't know, because when you say to somebody, read this book, it will change your life. Nobody ever asks. You can go up to Tom Cruise, like this rich movie star. So read this book, you'll change a letter. Oh, good. So that's what I need. You think, why does Tom Cruise do? Every single person knows he is not the person he's supposed to be. And that's why he gets obsessed with what you're doing. Because with what someone else, and I think that it's just the easier thing to think about.

Andrew Klavan Discusses 'The Truth and Beauty'
"Things that I just loved about this book, and there's so many things. But you bring these figures to life. When you describe coleridge and keats and all of them. And I realized that's something that also had fallen out of fashion by the time that I was in college. In the 80s, where we didn't seem to care about these figures as figures. And you sort of you bring them to life. So in some ways, it's not a novel, but there are a lot of fun stories in this book about amazing, crazy, brilliant people trying to work these things out in their lives and in their art. But if you think about it, Britain is an island the size of Oregon. And on it in this one generation, or it's two generations of the same time, is coleridge, wordsworth, Blake, Shelley, keats and Byron. The 6th greatest poets in the English language besides Shakespeare and Milton are all living together on this island. And so they're all nuts because they're poets. They're wild men. They're falling apart half the time. Coleridge is an absolute ruin of a human being. Byron has screwing everybody male or female, he can get his hands on. Shelly wants to be doing that. But isn't quite. And then, and one of the people that I deal with is Mary Shelley, one of my favorite chapters in the book is on Frankenstein because Mary Shelley adores Shelley. She adores this man she's run off with his left his wife and she's run off with them. And she adored and worshiped her father and now she adores and worship Shelley. And he's basically treating her as Byron and Shelley treated all the women they came in. He was basically like crap. And he believes in free love and he doesn't know why she's so depressed when her children die. He's depressed. She's not paying attention to him. And she writes this book, Frankenstein, where she says it's about a man who tries to steal God's thunder by creating life. But I point out that we all create people create life. We create life of the things that we have. What Frankenstein, what doctor Frankenstein does is increase life without a woman. And her nightmare is essentially the nightmare of femininity, the female aspect of life and femininity and womanhood, becoming obsolete.

The Socrates in the City Event Featuring Andrew Klavan
"Are airing my conversation from Socrates in the city with the extraordinary Andrew clavin. One of the best ever, if you want more information, go to Socrates in the city dot com. And now, here is that event. But in Paradise lost, Milton is trying to show that there's a difference between rebelling against a king, which he had done. He had endorsed the beheading of Charles the first and had to run for his life after Charles the second came in, and he was trying to show the Paradise lost as his attempt to show the difference between that and rebelling against God, which is rebelling against goodness and creation. And so that idea, how do we now rebel against kings and rebel against the church and yet not rebel against God was where wordsworth and coleridge kind of started without even knowing it. They didn't know they were doing this. He was so brilliant. But they wrote this book called lyrical ballads, which transformed English poetry. And it's a book in which they sort of say, we're going to show how the imagination in collaboration with reality transforms and enchants reality and how it brings even the smallest of people, nobility. And they basically reinvented this Christian ethos through nature through looking at nature, which they didn't, like I said, Colbert knew he was doing it, but words were, I'm not sure actually understood words with ended his life as a Christian. But it took him a long time to come there. And they sort of passed this journey on to John Keats, who was the greatest English poets and Shakespeare. He lived 25 years, he had about one month about 6 weeks of writing some of the greatest poetry that has ever been written and then got tuberculosis and died. And this period of great creativity. I just want to say there's one thing because it's so fascinating to me. His brother had died of tuberculosis, his poetry was getting terrible reviews. He was poor. He had a coffee. He started to think, oh my God, I'm getting tuberculosis. He's absolutely depressed. He can't write. He's taking a walk in Hampton heath, and he looks up and who's coming toward him coleridge.

Andrew Klavan Reflects on the Most Influential Men in His Life
"Been the most important influences on you in terms of understanding manhood. We've had football coaches, grandfathers, the guest you had on your show who came on my show Jack calf of the terminal wrist. I actually said it was the fictional figures. He read about as a voracious reader as a child, the heroes from the Tom Clancy novels, who for drew Cleveland was the person who said, oh yeah, I want to be like him. Oh, it's an easy question for me to answer, but it's so much like Jackson that I'm a little embarrassed. I felt that I was consciously felt that I did not have manhood roles in my life that I was that I really admired. Which age did you realize that you were lacking that? It was like as I came into teenage teenage life. And I started to look for them in books and in movies. And the one who really struck me more than any other was Raymond Chandler, who wrote the Philip marlowe books. And the reason was this, the reason was in the first paragraph. In fact, I frequently have said that the first page of the big sleep, which is his first detective novel with Philip marlowe, is the reason I became a writer, because what it does is it describes a man who is inwardly a knight who is carrying within him the chivalric code into a world of corruption and Chandler wrote a famous essay, which back in the day I could quote by heart, but it is where we get the phrase mean streets. He said, down these mean streets, a man must go who has not himself mean, who's neither tarnished nor afraid. And when I read that, I thought that's who I want to be. I'm not going to be as a soldier, probably. I'm not going to be a police officer, but I can walk without corruption in a corrupt world. I know

Andrew Klavan on the Status of Courage in a Post-COVID World
"Status of courage after the last two and a half years of COVID, what's your diagnosis? Oh, it was. You have courage left? Oh, it was embarrassing. And it had a cause, the cause was materialism, the lack of faith. When you have these guys, when Donald Trump stood up, this is one of my favorite moments because I have this kind of morbid sense of humor. But when Donald Trump got COVID and he stood up on the balcony, took his mask off. The news media went nuts. And there are two words to describe women, the word womanly, which is what you look for in a woman, a womanly woman will she walks into the room, men straighten up, and they stand up. But woman ish is the opposite of that. It's kind of like macho is for men. It's kind of this over emotional hysterical, fearful idea. Well, if the press was not woman in that moment, I've never seen it. And there were all men. There were all men going, no, be afraid. Trump said, don't be afraid. Don't let it dominate. Be not afraid. Jake tapper said, no. Be afraid. I just cracked up because I thought, no, that is what they've sold us for these two years. Andrew Cuomo, there's nothing worse than death. What's worse than death? Of course you have to give up your dream and close your business and closure. Because otherwise, it's death and death is death. Well, you know, some of us believe that no, there are things more important freedom is more important than life. I mean, you're willing to die to stay free. You're willing to die to protect your family. You're willing to die to stand up for what you believe in if it's important enough. So once you believe the death, there's nothing worse than death and death is everything. You're a coward by nature. I mean, you have to be. It's only logical. And that's what they've been preaching. And of course they're preaching it. If they steal power by creating crises, what good is a crisis if you're not afraid.

Andrew Klavan Describes What It Means to Be a Man
"Does it mean to be a man? We had general boykin on who's written books about it, who gave us this 6 part answer. It's a pastor. It's a leader. It's a battle buddy, very system. Delta force founder you would expect him to do very systematic. What is it to a man who's written amazing heroes in your novels? What is it to be a man? I always think that the main two things are integrity and courage and you really can't have one without the other with courage without integrity means just an amoral virtue. Your evil people can have courage. But with integrity, what I mean by integrity is that you are who you say you are and you'll do what you say you will do. Your word matters. Your word is connected to reality. Your appearance is connected to reality, you're not a fake, your life makes sense. You are responsible to making sense. And the reason I use those words to is because of course, you know, we love these men who go out and fight battles and defend us in the movies manhood is always demonstrated through action guys warriors and people like that. But you know, if you look at, say, a play like David Mamet's glengarry Glenn Ross. The biggest man in that is not the guy who boast is not the guy who talks about manhood. It's the guy who quietly refuses to be corrupt. He does it almost in the background of the play. A beautiful play, and he does it almost in the background. It's the guy who just stands fast and so many people have to do this in ways that we don't celebrate. The father who makes a living, even though it means giving up his dreams, the husband who sticks with a tough marriage because he knows his kids need them. These things happen every day all the time and they are the essence of manhood and they're the thing that you don't make a movie about because it's not exciting and it doesn't have things blowing up. But it matters and these guys like the navy seals are examples of that that we can hold on to and keep in front of us as ideals, but some of those principles can be applied all of those principles can be applied to sometimes the smallest thing that matters tremendously.

The Daily Wire's Andrew Klavan on the Threat to Masculinity
"Manhood is masculinity in trouble in our civilization? Yeah, I think it is. I think it often is, it is now again and whenever a civilization is in decline as ours is, it is one of the, one of the first things to go to the gender roles. When a civilization is really clicking when it's really doing well, people don't even think about it. They do their jobs. And that is one of the things about masculinity that's difficult. It's kind of like Fight Club. The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club. That's also the first rule of manhood, and it has left us open. You know, the guy who's always talking about manhood is usually the biggest putts in the room. Let's jump in here. Because when I realized this is a thing we have to deal with. Yeah. And then I eventually came up with an extra hour on the radio show. I talked about this with my wife, who's a huge bibliophile, did English literature in college. And we talked about somebody needs to write a book on what is manhood. And she said, why don't you? And I had this visceral reaction. I felt like vomiting and saying, I'm not going to talk. I am a man. I'm going to talk about what it is. Why is it that instant kind of, it's like, what is that famous Supreme Court decision? I can't define pornography. But I know what it is when I see it. Exactly the same as man who just don't talk about it. We just are. Well, exactly. You know, there's that great Chris Rock routine about fathers where he says nobody ever turns to his father and says, you know, it's a lot easier to read with the light on. Thanks for paying the electric bills. And it's something you are the world that other people live in. And that is part of what you do. And it's a wonderful thing. And it's wonderful when you find, for instance, a wife who appreciates that.

What Will Eric Discuss With Andrew Klavan at Socrates in the City?
"What are you most excited to talk with Andrew clavin about at your upcoming Socrates event? This is like a cream puff question. Because if you listen to this program when I interviewed Andrew clavin about his new book, the truth and beauty, he brings a literary genius mind to the words of Jesus, that doesn't often happen. And I have to tell you what he does in the book the truth and beauty, that's going to be the main subject of conversation because I'm a literary guy. I appreciate literature. I was an English major in college, and I appreciate classic literature, so the idea, the basic idea of the conversation is, you know, how did the greatest poets in the English language in the romantic period help you understand the words of Jesus or the tougher passages, what Jesus says tough thing. So that's the main conversation, but I also want to talk to them about really to answer this question. He wrote a book came out a few years ago talking about it's kind of like my book fish out of water. It's like the story of his life and how he came to faith. It is nuts. I could do a separate Socrates and said he just done that. It is absolutely an insane story. And I do want to get into that with him at the Socrates in the city event and which reminds me go to Socrates and city dot com. Please buy a ticket by tickets for your friends if you want to come in. "Friedman, this young podcaster big into technology, had Joe Rogan as a guest, which is unusual in and of itself on. And managed to very skillfully walk Joe into a trap of his own making by saying, why didn't you have Donald Trump on your show? You've got the biggest podcast in the world and Rogan says, not interested in helping that guy out. It's not my job. He's nasty. And then literally ten minutes later, he gets into admit, I love Alex Jones. I put him on my show so people could see the other side of Alex Jones. The guy who just got fined $40 million for lying about sandy hook. So this is part of our broader discussion, congrats to lex, by the way. Divisiveness or allowing people to say their viewpoint, shouldn't we welcome that? Because this is the biggest thing about Trump. Oh, oh, he's divisive. He's like, no, this is all. This is all, we have to understand what a monocultural we're living in. This is the thing that skews everything. If Donald Trump had three channels and the left had three channels, I would say, great. Let's fight it out, fight it out. But in fact, the left still holds the high ground, not just in the media, not just in every aspect, except for radio and podcasting. But not only there, but they hold it in terms of the government, obviously, and in terms of law enforcement now, corporations. This was you plugged my half speech before about the collapse of the establishment. That's what I mean. You know, it's one thing. It's one thing to have an avant garde or rebellious avant garde. Sometimes they bubble up fresh ideas and sometimes people like us conservators who ain't no, no, we can't do that. Okay, that's fine. That's part of the system. That's part of how it works. The series is about a parent college professor who's got a very dark past who's got a very violent and dark past. And in this one, he comes face to face with a billionaire social media tycoon. Integrity Is Different for Men and Women
"We're not saying a woman can exist without integrity. But explain why there's a certain plasticity or a little bit of a wiggle room for a woman. But when a man loses integrity, that's it. He's done. Can you expand on that? Well, first of all, women, you know, anyone who knows them knows they think entirely differently than we do. I never returned to my wife and say, well, that's not what you said yesterday. I know it's not what she said. Yes, and she knows it's not what she said. But she feels her way and she actually, the thing that drives men crazy about women is they're completely out of their minds, but they're not always wrong, right? Things keep saying, well, I don't know where that came from, but it's true. So you learn to respect their way of thinking. But it's not the same as our kind of clunkier, more direct, more naked way of thinking, using reason and courage to kind of move forward into what we feel, the truth is. And so we have no we have no wiggle room like that. We have to, when we make our mistakes, we have to admit them, change our minds, move on. And when we're not making mistakes, we have to move forward very forcefully, or else the world falls apart. People who wear t-shirts who say the future is female future is never female, and the reason the future is never females, if you've had two children and one of them says, I'm going to take a cardboard box and turn it into a ramp and take my skateboard to the moon, that's the boy. That's the crazy boy, because he'll do it and he'll break his legs and he'll be in traction. But one day he'll invent that thing that will do what he wants it to do.

Author Andrew Klavan Discusses His New Book 'The Truth and Beauty'
"Is this the great commission truly in our cultural fight? We've got to win politics. We've got to bring America back to the excellence of this celebrated in movies like Top Gun: Maverick. But really, everything we fight, the political correctness, the transgenderism, the wokeness, is antithesis of what your book is about. That's right. It's a denial of objective truth. And it's also a denial that beauty is connected inextricably to truth. Correct? Absolutely. And it's actually wicked. These critical theories that they talk about. They basically are based on the idea that truth is truth is just a construct of power. So if there's something you believe is true, it's only Foucault because somebody once said he did sweet Foucault for human life. Joke was funnier in the original British, but still, you know, that's a wicked thing to say, because even the meaning of language, according to Foucault, and then this critical theorist is as construct of power. So you and I can't even speak to each other unless one of us seizes the power. So this idea of like a woman has no definition, is not really about transgender people. It's really about seizing the power over the meaning of language. If two people can't speak together, if we can't argue rational principles, if we can't argue about the truth, then there's nothing left but power. So what they're essentially saying is we're going to make everything equal. By us having all the power. And that's what it all really comes down to. And it's really quite a wicked philosophy. The idea that we can't discuss truth and start to see by sweet reason and through beauty, that this is something we're getting closer. That's a really evil construct.

All right, so we have so much to discuss. We've got to talk about your new book, truth and beauty. I want to recognize the autobiography that you wrote, great good thing as well. Anything with this guy's name on it just by reading it, it's fun. You outrageously have revealed to me that you've not seen Top Gun mantle. I tried to get to it yesterday. I just couldn't get it all the house. But I'll tell you it's excellent. Nothing, not one scintilla of wokeness in it. There are black actors, there are Hispanic actors, but there's no work education. There's no, there's no transgenderism, nothing of the sort. There is a celebration of these things. There's a celebration of service to something outside of yourself. There's a celebration of sacrifice. And the thing that really, the word that most epitomized this movie for me, which helped me understand after I saw it that it's the same word that has such a core meaning to being an American and America is excellent. It was a celebration of excellence. So we said a little about we talked about this in the break. But is this a swan song? Is this Tom Cruise doing what only Tom Cruise can do? Or is this perhaps an indication or something? Well, it is Tom Cruise doing what only he can do. He's the only one with enough clout to just say, this is the picture we're making. I don't care what you think. I don't care what. Because he brought his own director. He brought his own DP. He probably raised the funds himself. So it was his baby. Author Andrew Klavan and Eric Discuss 'The Truth and the Beauty'
"Volks welcome back, I'm talking to Andrew clavin. Do you understand? I'm talking to Andrew clavin, he's written a book called the truth and beauty. It's an amazing book. It is at least brilliant, at least, brilliant. And it was just wonderful to read Andrew, I want to say, congratulations on really having the guts to write this book because I can see how a lot of editors or publishers would try to steer you in different directions. And you, obviously, said to them, shut up. Here's the book. And I'm so glad I'm so glad you did. There's only one editor that I could think of. When I finished it and I put it, as you know, I put a lot of work into it, I thought gee, if this one editor turns this down, I simply don't know where else where else I'll go. So Webster Joanne sees now the publisher of zander van, but he was my editor on my memoir, and he took it instantly. I'm not surprised. He would be the one that I would suggest and God bless him for doing that. Because this is an important book, and I think that, as I said, the level of writing what you get into, what really delighted me, as I mentioned this earlier, how you bring to life figures that I didn't really think of biographically. I mean, somebody mentions coleridge, okay, I've heard of the rhyme of the ancient Mariner. You mentioned keats, you mentioned it. These are figures that I had not really come to appreciate as human beings, just as these names behind poems.

Author Andrew Klavan Pulls People in With 'The Truth and the Beauty'
"Folks, welcome back. I'm talking to Andrew clavin with a K into clavin has written a weird, wild, wonderful genius book. It's called the truth in beauty, how the lives and works of England's greatest poets point the way to a deeper understanding of the words of Jesus. Now, Andrew, I'm a poetry guy, I'm an English literature guy, but what you do here in this book, which I think all the best books do is you introduce people who aren't poetry guys or English. You pull people in. And I want to embarras you further and say that you're a great writer. You're writing is great. The ideas are amazing, but the writing itself. Right in the beginning, you use the word Kaka lorem. And I thought, I'm in. Whatever he's selling, I'm in with this guy, but there are words throughout the book that are just like these brilliant archaic, funny words and stuff. So let's talk about the guts of this. How in the world do you go from actually no, explain to my audience if you would, who were the romantic poets? Just because it's your understanding of the history of romanticism and that movement, which I think I had forgotten 85% of what you say in here. So it's kind of an amazing primer on literary history and history. So talk about that because it's fascinating. Because the thing you usually hear about the romantics was there was an age of reason and everybody was reasonable and then the romantics came and they reacted and they didn't like reason. They wanted to have a motion, which is utter nonsense. That's not what happened at all. You know, they lived in a time that was so much like our time that it is truly uncanny. I mean, the comparisons are everywhere. They lived in a time when science was changing everything. And so people were losing their faith. The structures of the world church and state were collapsing and being shown up as unable to take them into the new era. And just to be clear, you're talking about the latter part of the 18th century. So this is the lead up to the French Revolution. I mean, the level of chaos on the continent, just hard for us to imagine what that would have been

"Com and how the women love it. Go rock auto dot com right now. She all the parts available for your car or truck. Right cleveland in there. How did you hear about us box. So they know we sent you and write it like you mean it right. Claiming it's k. L. a. v. a. n. You drive the girls crazy so we were talking about liberty and liberty. I the reason people have stopping liberty. I is because they've lost the underlying values that created the idea. That one puts liberty. I which come from christianity so i want to return to what i was talking about last week. Remember last week. I was answering talking about the reason. Jesus says judge not lest you be judged and i want to continue that segment just to remind you this is like the sequel judge. Not to this time it's personal The the basic point i was making is that not judging forgiving loving your enemies. They're all methods of helping us See the world. God sees it. As jesus says that this will help you be children of your father in heaven. He causes his son to rise on the evil. And the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous and elsewhere. He says god is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. So he's wants you to be like goddess of that. You will see the world as god sees the world so when we lay aside judgment vengeance hatred That's that's what begins to happen and this. I just reiterating. What i said last week this leads to the kingdom of heaven within us which is small thing inside us that grows into a big thing. It's like the east bread or it's like a spy tiny mustard seed the becomes gigantic Tree so part two of this conversation is to ask what does the world look like when you see it this way. Why does that help you see the world as god sees it and i want to reiterate his last week. I'm not a pastor another theologian. I am just a a detective story right in just a bit Teller of tales. But i do believe in the gospels and the gospels have given me this incredible joy of life and serenity of life i mean i it was. It was weeks after a couple of weeks after. I was baptized that my wife. Just you've really totally change become much more serene much more happy and so i'm just sharing what i have seen. What happened to me in the path that i've traveled And you can make up your own mind whether you want to follow that path or part of that path or whatever so to talk about what the world looks like. I want to talk about two verses from the gospels. One is the famous one from the gospel of john berry. Near the top of gospel of john the word was made flesh and dwelt among us in the word in. This is a translation from greek for the word logos which is one of these kind of complicated earl. Words that has so many meanings That any translation of it is going to be questionable. Any translation i give it. People are going to protest and say that's not what it means but it's my show so i'm going to be my translation For me the the logos means the mind of god who god is right. Who would have got sees the world versus in the beginning was the word and the word was with god and the word was god. He was in the beginning with god. All things were made through him and without him nothing was made that was made the logos he's talking about. The logos is the word. And so you know what that means. You have a way of seeing things if you have a friend You know what he's like. He's maybe a mathematician. He sees everything from mathematical in mathematical logical terms or she may be like a very emotional passionate caring person and you always know what she's gonna do if she see somebody in trouble if if an artist as a nature that nature comes out in his work so picasso paints things one way michelangelo peach things the right way but they have a different way of expressing. Because that's the mind of themselves so if you're god that's the logos that's the the mind. The creates everything that puts everything into the world. So now we know from this person. Interesting thing that the logos the mind of god the self of god can be represented in human form can be made into flesh. And that's a big idea that means that a human being can represent the mind of and it means that other human beings all the other human beings can represent a part of that they can be the mini logos. They can be part of the logos. And and that means that. And i'll get back to that i may have to do another one more segment on this. But that that means that word is a good translation for logos because it's like the flash becomes a language to speak. The mind of god matter becomes a language that speaks the mind of god and just like language it sort of brings to mind it it in stand sheets. That makes manifest. It makes clear before you. What the mind of god is. Because you can't see the mind of god you can experience it in the flesh and matter so this brings me to my second verse right. Remembered what we're saying here is that god can be made flesh and that therefore people who are made in the image of god men and women are made in the image of god. They are a mini logos. They are a little can be a little bit of god. So the second verse is one of the parables. The parable of the good samaritan. I have to tell you this funny story. I got this book coming out next year. Called the truth and beauty. brilliant titled Is the truth and beauty and about some of these issues seem through The eye of some of the great poets of the english language But it's about this this kind of gospel this kinda reading of the gospel in this book. I said we don't hear what a weird weird parable the parable of the good samaritan is. We don't hear it. And i've never been able to convince anybody why it's weird because they're so used to hearing it. They don't think it's weird. They think it's just a normal parable and and it's not.

"Identity the identity of the individual and how conservatives look at this as something that has to be earned in this kind of tumultuous difficult unfair reality and the left thinks that it's just something that is there and it's only the unfairness of the world. That takes it away. That's true of nations to the identity of the nation is defined by reality is defined by the challenges that that it faces. You can't say we're going to have a nation that does this in a world where other people want to kill you. In world war other people want to oppress you. I don't know. I don't know why it is what it is in the human spirit. That looks at people who are free and says we've gotta make that stop. I don't know because i'm so into it. I love it. I love the fact that people are free. I i don't care if they disagree with me. I don't care if they live differently than i do. I don't care if they offend my moral sense. As long as they're not actually hurting other people. I don't care if they the way they live seems to me immoral. I love other people being free. Because i love being free and i make that great Speculation where i say. Gee if i love being free maybe they love being free as well but the thing is the thing is people do want to dominate. They wanna win and they wanna beach you and we are in a world in a dangerous world and people know this that people know this right they so the left is now facing that reality as well. There was a hilarious tweet from iowa hawk Yesterday he is. He is really funny. david burge And he has always been one of the funniest guys with the shortest amount of The fewest number of words. So abai is coming back. And there's this picture of them in those Motion capture suits for show. They're doing and iowa hawkeye tweeted. Look i stood here and took all the retro seventies unemployment and inflation and the lost wars. But this is where. I draw awful. The abba Reinvention because the seventies were just like this the seventies were so much like this. The high crime This is the last time we left. Let the left drive. The bus basically You know they said western civ has got to go and they almost had they wave communist flags in support of the vietnamese And told us how great vietnamese vietnam would be once. We left And we let them hamper the police with supreme court decisions and with laws that hampered the police in our cities were hell holes or chicago has the same thing. Incredible inflation because of the spending wines at the gas tank because we didn't have enough get oil and we were dependent on opec The communists were on the march people. Forget this the soviet union was winning the cold war. They were taking over countries in africa and south america but we still had enough money to spend our way out of the cold war. That's how regan won the cold war. He he spent the money that was needed. We still had enough money that we could go into. Debt keeping our ever-burgeoning welfare-state alive We rebuilt our military. Reagan could still rebuild our military. But now we're in a lot of trouble right and the democrats are trying to push this three point five trillion dollar budget through with massively. It's you know this is the thing. Trump's cutting corporate taxes worked all those corporations that stayed offshore. During by the obama years came back they came back that's why the economy was booming before covert. I mean the economy before cove. It was one of the best american economies certainly of my lifetime it probably ever and that was the trump economy while all at screaming was going on. Trump was starting fights with every dog that barked at him and the press was calling everything a crisis. The color of tie was a crisis. His economy really work because he left the corporations grow he let them grow so now what biden thinks he's done his he's got the world to agree that g seven basically to agree that they're going to pose a fifteen percent tax on foreign profits for all companies. And they think that's going to be like the berlin wall they think that's going to keep the companies from leaving because this is the problem with socialism. Is people leave because they wanna make more money. They want to do better in life. They want to realize their dreams so they leave. So you've got to build a wall and keep him in. He thinks tax thing is going to be that wall. But it's not because this three point. Five trillion dollars thing raises taxes a lot. Something like five times higher than that. So it's not gonna work so that's going through so suddenly joe mansion right king joe mansion. We should call him because the other thing that's going to do by the way he's the other thing they're doing is killing our oil independence. Which is a huge deal. Which just means. We're going to be in giving money to russia and giving money to iran and venezuela so all of the stuff is just a disaster but they think it's going to be okay because you're going to get so much free stuff that you won't care about the reality they think we're still living in this world where we we're we're one run ahead. We've got enough money to spend our way into anything. So joe mansion right king joe manchin because he's the vote the deciding vote. He lives in a red state west. Virginia he's but he is a in a red state but he's a democrat so he's got a toe the line a little bit and suddenly he gets his column. I opened my wall street journal. This morning. I'm looking to this call from jomaa mansion. That's put a pause on the old three point five trillion dollars and he says the nation faces an unprecedented array of challenges and will inevitably encounter additional crises. The future yet. Some in congress have strange believe there is an infinite supply of money to deal with any current or future crisis and that spending trillions upon trillions. We'll have to no negative consequences for the future. I disagree and overheating economy is imposed a costly inflation tax on every middle and working class. American at twenty eight point seven trillion dollars and growing. The nation's debt has reached record levels sounding me. Sounds like my show. Over the past eighteen months we spent more than five trillion responding to the corona virus pandemic and now democratic congressional leaders proposed to pass the largest single spending bill in history with no regard to rising inflation crippling debt the inevitability of future crises ignoring the fiscal consequences of our policy choices will create a disastrous future for the next generation of americans. Those who believe such concerns are overstated. Should ask themselves. What do we do if the pandemic gets worse under the next viral mutation. What do we do if there is a financial crisis like the one that led to the great recession. What if we face a terrorist attack or major international conflict. How will america respond to such crises. We needlessly spend trillions.

"Women. in their youth. are at the peak of their beauty and attractiveness. It is the time when they can best attract the kind of a man they want in their life. it is when they can easily more. She wants to be a mom. it's when they can have children most easily. You do not use that time up while you sit around with your thumb up your wazoo. A dithering over whether you like the girl enough or not. Let her go. Let her find somebody who deserves her because right. Now in your state you're in now the state of maturity. Now you do not you do not deserve. You should let her go to say we should go on a break. Is that a coward's way out I can't use on the air words strong enough to tell you how cowardly it is. You have blown it you know but you need to grow up a little bit and then you're not gonna take her time away from her While you sit around and grow up that is not the right thing to do. The right thing to do is to let her go a letter the life she wants the children. She wants with somebody who appreciates her as you don't seem to and and listen pal may be right. Maybe you know you can find somebody else who is better but the point now is you are not mature enough for this relationship but you are mature enough to be a man and let her go And that's that is is my advice you could do the opposite and marry her but you better realize that that's for life. There's no divorce after that you'd better realize if you're going to do that. That's for life but whatever you do stop dithering make your decision this very day and act on it because what you're doing now is is just utterly utterly wrong G there were a lot of things about My superhero up Episode at people pointed out that i didn't get superman. The superman right. It was meant to not superman three. I actually knew that. Irrelevance meant to distract from his bizarre and dishonest demagoguery in a video. Put out by the new york times in the hope. Some idiot would believe it. Miss mendacious says quote right wingers insist on treating the president as if he's lying his teeth in order to stir up hatred between one set of americans in another but the left absolutely loves the guy because he's lying through his teeth in order to stir up hatred between one set of americans and another. It's all such a relief. After donald trump who was really the greatest threat to this nation since the civil war and that's not hyperbole unquote the word. "I may follow god's guidance and finding a lasting relationship. I'm now a point where i can honestly say that i harbour very little negative feelings toward what used to be however the more than negativity has loosened. Its grip on me. The more my love for b. has welled up in my heart again Like every passing day my feelings for be a get stronger. I want to reach out to her and establish content contact again but at the same time. Part of me thinks it's a terrible idea. I'm wondering what you make of this. God bless you from david You know. I don't believe this is about this woman at all to be honest with you. I don't think you're in love with her. I don't think you're in love with what used to be I think that you have suffered an ego blow and you are not acting like a man and getting over When she left you when she broke up with you it was a tremendous blow to your pride and to your ego and you want to heal that pride going back and getting it right this time. that's not the way to manhood. That's not the way to love. That's not the way into the future of the way into the future is to accept and feel the blow is to feel. Oh yeah. I'm i'm in pain from this rejection And to thereby walked through that pain into a new future where you can go to someone else. You don't claim to a woman like this because you're like this who's already left you who's been gone for ten years because you love her. You do it because you love something about yourself that she that you feel. She injured And i think that's a mistake. And i think you're making that mistake. I think you're gonna have to let it go. Which is is tough to have time for one more one more from doug Lord craven seen advice. I feel at my work and consequently my life has little to no meaning. I have a beautiful wife. Assem month old daughter a dog and a mortgage. I live in an area that is great in a relatively good school district. My life looks good. But i feel all the work i do as little meaning. I'm in sales. I sell things to people. They generally have to save four. But that doesn't give me any satisfaction that luxury goods I would like to get involved in public life or something related to it. However i don't have a college degree and get prep passed over relatively quickly. Because of that fact i have many skills and i'm well read unless reading noses book textbooks away from account. It does detract but it doesn't detract all of them. It's not that good. I'm not sure where to take my life eager and willing to work. I would just like the opportunity to do work. There's me yeah. And i think you should first of all. I think you should pause for minute and be grateful for your beautiful wife in your beautiful daughter. He sent a picture of your daughter and she is beautiful For your dog and your mortgage all those things are things to be grateful for. You built them. You created that life for yourself with their help. And i think that that's a beautiful thing and that should have meaning in and of itself and it's possible that you should be using this time to develop the skills you need to have a more meaningful life. It's possible you need to stay with your job for now and work to support your family but that instinct with your job. You're giving yourself time to get ready. Maybe to get a higher degree but maybe you don't need a higher degree. Maybe you just need to learn The things that you need to learn to get the kind of work that you want. I you have to decide what that work is. Then you have to decide what the qualifications you need to do that. work Are and then you have to get those qualifications in that may take some time but you should definitely commit yourself to that. You want your life that means you want work to have meaning guys are all about their work and you should want your work to have meaning in your life. So she'll get to work Work a little harder. Stay up a little later. Get a little less sleep and do the things you need to do to prepare for a life with more meaning. There's nothing unreasonable about what you're saying. You just have to do the work that needs that you need to do to get there and good luck. I'm gonna stop there so none of this really matters. Because it's the cleveland last week upon you and you will probably be destroyed simply by your own despair. The whaling the gnashing of teeth that darkness the flames is. "I don't know about you. But whenever i find myself feeling excessively angry at my political opponents. I'd like to ask myself. What would jesus do. Then since i can't hit them with lightning bolt and fling them really into hell for all eternity. I try instead understand where they're coming from. And whether i can get them to go back there and stay there and never show their ugly faces anywhere near me ever again. So today in an effort to build bridges of understanding between democrats and decent human beings. I'd like to take a sympathetic look. At what the left believes. According to the left critical race theory is not racism. And anyone who thinks it is is just a white devil. Helplessly acting out the imperialist oppression that flows through his bloodstream carrying the essential whiteness. That has just a social construct but is impossible to change. According to the left critical race theory is not being taught in schools and should continue to be taught in schools in every state despite the fact that minority children are falling far behind in math and reading. Math and reading are just white concepts creates a stop black people from becoming educated in traditional african ways that are completely imaginary and have nothing to do with the real africa. Where american black people haven't lived for more than two hundred years so they really need to learn math and reading instead of critical race theory which is not being taught schools and will continue to be and what about transgenderism according to the left men and women are exactly the same and some men even are women and therefore totally different for men while being exactly the same except for wearing skirts and pretending to be women who were very different. A person's identity of course is defined completely by their race and sexuality because humans are totally physical beans and are therefore not at all defined by their physical bean but by mystical inner soul. They can identify any race or gender pleases thus a human's completely physical existence is defined by his disembodied soul which does not exist because if it did exist he'd have to believe in god and stopped doing the immoral stuff he's doing and morality is relative. Because what's immoral here is totally moral in another country like imaginary africa and other places that don't exist like the soul that totally defines us finally. It's very important that everyone received free college where they won't learn math and reading because that would be white but will instead be taught critical race theory which is not being taught therefore everyone must also receive a guaranteed income. Because they're now unemployable because they can't do math or read because that would be white and critical race theory which is not racist hates whiteness. The free college and guaranteed income will of course be paid for with money taken from billionaires who earned it building businesses that they will no longer build. Because what's the point if you're going to take all their money which they now no longer have anyway. I hope this little journey into the mind to the left will help you understand what democrats are trying to accomplish. So you can reach out across the aisle stop them. And maybe punch in the testicles. While you're at it just to make sure they get the point. That would also probably answer the question. What would jesus do trigger warning. I'm andrew klavan. And.

"Right. We are here with these special fourth of july program. The andrew klavan show in which we will celebrate our independence by having the republic actually collapsed on screen. While i'm talking Maybe we want to that. I don't know but listen if you have not signed up. If you've not subscribe to the show on apple podcasts. And giving it a five star review. Please do that. It helps us enormously makes ratings better. It makes it easier for us to get ads. It makes it easier for us to come back and keep on the air. Also you want to go on youtube. The andrew klavan channel on youtube and subscribe to that. If you press the little bell on that you'll hear ringing in your ears for weeks afterwards And it kind of sexy after a while. So please do that. And if you leave. A comment and the comment is sufficiently ignorant and racist. We will run it on the show because it'll just fit right into seamlessly. Today we have from lol. Lil pop lull leap up. He says. I told. I told my wife to put some pearls and heels on and then make some pies and that she was a nice piece but before she found another pan to throw at me. I rock auto. We had pie that night all night and then more pie in the morning. I think she's now pregnant. That's that's disgusting. I'm so sorry iraq. Lear but that's the kind of that actually happens. Those things actually happened when you listen to the show So stay tuned. It's gonna get uglier from here you know. I can't do the show alone. I am backed up by a huge staff of producers and technicians and artists. And every time. I look at them i think kind. I wish i'd use ziprecruiter if you're a business owner who's hiring you probably face a lot of challenges when it comes to finding the right person for your role. That's why hiring can feel like trying to find a needle in a haystack. You can post your job to some job board but then all you can do is hope. The right person comes along..

"This culture. That has allowed this to happen. This culture is spoken into their world until told them. Oh your poor victims. You're not responsible for your behavior or you're not part of this country because this country hates you in there for you are outside the moral order We have to take respond. We have to take responsibility for that as well. So what is the difference between what we do and what the left does okay. How can we see the world from a perspective of the storyteller and without standing by while the world devolved into that kind of health and the answer is humility pride month but here on the andrew klavan show it's always humility month of. There's no pride month humility. The mistake the left makes repeatedly repeatedly. Is they try to see the world from this loving point of view but they think that they are telling the story they they have pride. They don't understand that we are seeing the world is god sees it with characters in the story we are not the storyteller we cannot change the story we can only be the part of the story that represents the good. Remember a couple of things you remember. What about what jesus say. He said he didn't say love your enemies and they'll become nice. He didn't say love. Your enemies in the world will be a better place. He always says the world will suck and the other thing was. He didn't say there was no such thing as evil and good. He said god shines and rains on the evil. And the good right. He said god loves and delivers his gifts to the evil and the good. He doesn't love the evil of the evil but he loves the people right who are being led astray and he's weeping to know for for these people who were lost. Humility tells us right. Humility tells us that while taking on a god-like perspective helps ac- god sees. We are not god we are not the storyteller humility tells us that we are characters in the story and have to behave in such a way that we bring god's good into the world that is our mission that is what we're here to do and they think they're going to change. They do this all the time. I think we're we're going to change the narrative. We're going to change the narrative. We're going to say that men can. It's not fair that there are men and women so we change that and if we say men can become women we just have to shut up everybody who says that that's true to censor them. Just make them quiet and it'll become true. We are the storytellers. But it is not so right. It is not so we have to be the characters who incarnation the good of god into the world. That's our mission. That's our point. We have to figure out how to do that. And i wanna take a look at the way this pride this pride of feeling that you are the one telling the story right. This pride of seeing things as if you will Just the therapist of the world or the therapist of the world instead of seeing a wait a wait. I have to do good. I have to hold people to account have to make sure that our culture hold people to account account and and Speaks about good and evil to them and teaches them That they need fathers teaches them that they need structure in their lives and order. All of those things are what we are assigned to do because we're characters in the story. We're not the people writing the story. And i will take a look at.

"I'm glad i'm glad to have the opportunity to do it. Because i don't think people actually heard what i said. I started by saying the first thing. I said in answer to her letter. This is a wife who was disgusted by what her husband had been a basically requiring her to do in the bedroom she didn't specify what it was but i she said i'm not a prude. And this is not something that most women would agree to. And i said at very set i i see. It's a very hard path to a good outcome here. And the reason. I said that was not necessarily because of the situation. It was because when the wife brought to her husband the fact that this was making her nauseated They got into arguments and so in other words he was pushing back against what she was saying in a not understanding and not open way she was saying. You know you were when you take to bed. I am being humiliated and feel nauseated. And he was arguing with her. And that's not. That's not the way you respond to that. I'm sorry there's an th you know your wife comes in and says you know you're hurting me. Every time we go to bed you know. Never never be quiet you know. That's that's not the way that goes so. I saw him as being Maybe i was misreading this. This is what i saw. I saw him as being very selfish. And i thought that this was not going to have the best possible outcome because of that. Now maybe i'm wrong. And i hope i'm wrong. Hoping he can see the light. But as i was talking about that i said maybe he's just going to have to deal with this on his own And including by just dealing with by pornography and what i was thinking was if this guy is so selfish that he is not going to relieve his his wife's suffering at his hands. If he's that selfish than i would rather he degrade himself than that he degrade her and so that's what i was saying. I was not endorsing pornography. Some people said that pornography probably causes faddish. Which is just that's unlikely as fetish was probably caused by childhood trauma but but still i was not endorsing pornography. I was just saying in the bad outcomes that i foresee in this situation because of his selfishness. That's one bad outcome. Where at least he. He's degrading himself instead of degrading. This lady that's so. That's what i was saying and again i was admitting that these were bad outcomes From it says barandy. Maybe it means barnaby I have a question about pursuing joys from a lady. I'm a christian. Stay at home wife and mother. I have five young boys. And i home school them as well. I have recently first of all. You're my hero already. But i recently realized that the acne been trying to manage over the past six years a rare skin disorder. That is incurable. No matter what. I do the scars and flare. Ups will always be part of my life. I'm so self conscious on a happy in my skin. My husband children's sam beautiful. And i'm trying to focus my energy on having a beautiful heart but i need tips on how to be joyful in my life i feel alone and coming to terms with my condition because it feels like no one really understands that this is depressing. Painful for me. Well first of all of course it is. i mean. of course it's depressing. Painful is especially in pressing depressing painful for lady To have a skin problem like that. And you shouldn't feel that that it is it is wrong for you'd be in pain about it. Remember joy is not happiness. Joy is not the same thing as happiness. Joy is a feeling that life is worthwhile that you're in the fight that you are doing something that god wants you to do and meaningful that is meaningful and meaningful to you and meaningful to god to the people around you. All of which you are doing and so If you can focus on that you will We'll have more joy. I think that. I think that one thing you should do is sit with your pain a little bit. You know maybe maybe even just for ten minutes fifteen minutes a day sitting say yeah this really bothers me and then get back in the fight and ask yourself. What does god want me to make of. This is to make of this. What am i supposed to do with this thing. He's given me. And how can. I start to in some way to live a more compassionate and a deeper life and that will be helpful. You might want to read. A book called bleak house by charles dickens because it includes this sort of story line that involves this. It's really an interesting so wonderful wonderful entertaining book but the one thing i just wanna make sure of because you mentioned. I want to make sure you've actually been to a doctor that you're not You're not diagnosing yourself off the internet because there are treatments for this And they're you know they may not help exact totally but they might alleviate things so i. I do suggest if you haven't been to an actual dermatologist. That you go to a dermatologist. But meanwhile you shouldn't feel bad about feeling bad. This is something that's painful but you shouldn't let yourself feel bad all the time. Give yourself a period during the day. When you confront your feelings about this and then realize that god wants you to do something go back to work and you will find your joy increases Even even in your suffering. I gotta stop there But i'll be gone for a week. Juneteenth will just now bleed into the rest of the week. You will be destroyed. But i will be back again with the andrew klavan show because i am andrew claybon.
