Usually when I fill in for Tim or Gary and Shannon If I had the opportunity, I'd like to make sure that we all get lunch or dinner, especially on a holiday show because I know no one gets a chance that I get barbecue would ever go to a cookout on a holiday, So I think that's the least I can do. Morgan, who is producing the show. I let her know right before we started. Okay, let me know what we're going to get for food. Okay, Because if you don't decide, we don't eat. And so, 30 minutes goes by 40 minutes and we're at the Commercial break for this last break, And I said, What are we eating or not? We're just gonna wait until 10 o'clock and call it a night. Listen, Listen, first, you put it on me to decide the place. I'm buying. That's the least you could do your right. But also, I can't make a decision like that. Well, you got Russell in their he can help you. Andrew seems pretty competent, withholding a menu and reading from it. So we ended up picking a place and then I emailed you the menu, not knowing that. You don't really check your emails. Not when I'm like doing a radio show. If someone were to email me right now, it would be kind of difficult for me to check my email. I thought you'd get a little big No, like I would. Because the menu this is radio. So why would I have a thing? Now, how do you have a thing Every five seconds. I got about 150 emails per day her account, but I knew you were expecting this email. So that's crazy. This was like 45 minutes ago. How can I expect an email if I don't know that it's coming? I told you to pick a place. I'm bringing you the menu in right now. I printed it for you. How many producers does it take to order some food for? I mean, but where did she pick up? See? You have a vested interest in this too, Because Andrew would like to eat as well. Where are we eating tonight? Okay. The habit. Okay, We're getting burgers. Okay. All right. So, Andrew, Have you eaten that habit before I have? It's actually one of my favorite. Go to. You have want Russell. Do you have one At this point? I'm good. I'm good. Okay, So we're all on one court here that we're going to eat in the next three hours. Okay? I'll probably put the order in in about two hours. Don't play girl. We'll get it by 10 play. No, I'm trying to eat before eight o'clock, Okay? Don't don't play with my emotions When it comes to food. You've already messed around and messed off 45 minutes. Me waiting. I'm thinking like, is anyone to let me know what we're eating or how are we going to get it or what we're going to choose. And then someone says, Yeah. Email juice. Am I checking my email? I thought you were no rush, So I got a little snack from the kitchen. Just to hold myself out. That is savage race say there's nothing good to eat in that kitchen. I got some almonds because I'm like, Oh, I guess Mo just can't decide it's taking them in a while and since the pandemic Our kitchen and our vending machines. Like 2018. I made a marking on one of the candy bars, Just like I'm serious as cancer that you know I didn't. I just want to check it out because I said, like this seems like the same candy bar from late 2019. Because I know that some of their like what do they like semi perishable? We should probably check the expiration dates. Now I think about it. Yeah, I would. I would seriously because there was one time where I got some of the small milk cartons. "I feel amazing. He told our entertainment reporter Doug Coke that he's been training hard for months. Feel incredibly. Um Just ready and then shape who? Alright, So then they do interviews with other boxing, Uh amateur boxers. Professional boxers get their reaction, that sort of thing. He was Rogan. He was vaccinated. He was vaccinated by the way. Yes, Joe Rogan, However, who UFC fans are ultimately familiar with Joe Rogan. Uh, he got Covid. Now, Here's a guy that did not get vaccinated. Rogan caught it, and he quote threw the kitchen sink at it. He had access to every possible medication. And now he's also worm free because he's been taking the ivermectin. So Mhm that's happening. I mean, he did say thank you to modern medicine. So maybe there is hope for People like him to support the vaccine. To some degree, I don't know. I just don't get the people that say I'm not going to take the vaccine. I actually thought of a new argument for not taking the vaccine that I would buy into. And that is with the spread of these new variants, especially when you've got the spread of variance in heavily unvaccinated countries. That provides a breeding ground for the the virus to mutate. And I think I would understand somebody saying, I don't want to get vaccinated now because I'm concerned the vaccine won't work in the future for the variance, except I also believe that if we've got variants, we're probably going to have variations on the vaccine, and we could always get some sort of a booster that would include Protections against those new variants. But I thought, okay, maybe somebody saying I'm concerned the vaccine will not work against future mutations. The argument, of course, is we'll go get the vaccine now so that it can't mutate And if it does mutate, then we'll have a different Vaccine that you can take in the future that anyone Uh, Tripped out by Joe Rogan because he is one of these guys that says thanks to modern medicine, Except that medicine works. I don't care who you are. That medicine works. Except that the only modern medicine he doesn't believe in seems to be the vaccine. We run into that a lot like I don't believe in the vaccine, but I will take horsey Wormer that has not approved to treat. Uh Corbett. "I'm confused on the legal aspect for a couple of reasons first, uh Any person can shoe in a civil lawsuit unless they work for the state or the city government. Again. I'm not an attorney, All right? But I follow a lot of attorneys on Twitter. So I feel like I'm totally qualified for this. Not an attorney. They are prohibiting employees of the state or city government from suing. That means that the people who work for the city or the state government have a different set of rights than somebody who does not. That doesn't sound like equal protection to me, so there's one issue I'm having. The other one that I'm That really hangs me up. And speaking of Twitter. Is all of this misinformation that we've had regarding HIPPA in recent months. The notion that forcing somebody to wear a mask is a HIPAA violation, asking someone if they're vaccinated as a HIPAA violation. None of that is true. None of that is true. However. I talked to my wife about this. My wife is supremely qualified to understand hippos. She's worked in Health care administration for Oh, we're gonna be careful here. She's gonna get mad at me. I'm going to give away your age, but more than three decades. And so I said, Hey, sweetheart, before we get going here before I do my show tonight. I need your professional take. I said. I said babe, sweetie love of my life. Most beautiful woman in the whole wide world. Yeah. A doctor doesn't have to reveal the information about the patient. In fact, the doctor is legally prohibited by federal law from releasing private medical information. About that patient. So I'm really curious as to how this plays out in civil court. If the people who are suing Can't present evidence. How does a judge or jury ruled against an abortion provider when the abortion provider can't confirm nor deny whether or not they performed a procedure? You think? The other thing is this. Uh suppose you've got a person who goes to the pharmacy? And they buy the plan B. Okay? The pharmacist. Then in providing that plan B pill would be liable under the New Texas abortion law for providing an abortion basically right Yet if the patient in this case the would be mother doesn't take the plan B after the six weeks, which is the Texas law, many women don't know they're pregnant until that point or later. Uh, if that's the case, the pharmacist Uh, one couldn't testify about that patient's medical history. And the person who's suing couldn't definitively identify whether or not the person who bought the plan B. Took the plan B. They can't identify whether the person who bought the plan B was even pregnant. So how does this play out in court? It seems like this is more of an avenue to legitimize slap lawsuits. Against political opponents than it is to actually stop abortion. And to that point as well. Is the is the point of the Texas abortion law. Preventative or is it punitive? If the threat of punishment Is an effective deterrent. We wouldn't have the highest incarceration rate in the world. But we do Because the punishment isn't enough of a deterrent. Think Now, part of what's going on as you got providers that are saying, Okay, well, after six weeks, we're not gonna We're not gonna perform abortions anymore, or we're not gonna We're not going to give you the plan B or whatever else it is. So that is going the way that the right to life people in Texas wanted it. But I don't know that this is really an effective way to stop abortions. How do you even prove that somebody had an abortion? Without getting into their personal medical records. These are considerations moving forward as we watch what's going on in Texas, and I also am a bit concerned with this notion that It's now. Mob enforcement. Laws in the books no longer is law enforcement enforcing laws. Now it's mob enforcement. I wonder if that could play out in other, um and other instances as well. Mm. I bet I might have some examples. Next. Chris Merrill KF. I am 6 40 live everywhere in your I heart radio app Andrew Caravella with news. Labor Day travel. Labor Day travel is up. Do I have recourse to my homeowner's association to resolve encroachment of neighbors trees on my property? Yeah. Yeah, it's probably your neighbor's probably in violation of the CCN ours. Uh and, uh, that can control everything. But you have a general encroachment issue anyway. But if it's specific within the sea cnrs, then the H O A has to act on your behalf and go after the Go after the neighbor because not only do you have a general rule just a legal issue, uh, that you can't do that to a neighbor. Thanks for hanging out on this Memorial Day weekend, my friend Katherine Spires is going to join us from The smart mouth podcast heard everywhere where you listen to podcasts dealing with food and history and all of those things. We're trying to get her on. There was you know, I've had this really weird. Thing happening where my texts are going through for some reason, so my confirmation text did not go through to her. She is going to get herself together and figure out if she's going to join us via zoom or via the phone. But either way we should have her up shortly s O go nowhere. There is a lot going on for the weekend. Of course, barbecuing and all the like. Everyone starts looking towards four. This particular holiday have longer time to connect and hang out with each other on so obviously we start looking towards stories and things like that turn tired, too. Barbecue. We talked a little bit earlier about burgers during technique the week if you didn't hear that in, go back, listen to the podcast later. Just a breakdown of certain techniques for burgers and the like. But producer Kayla, who is now officially the producer of the Fork report, by the way, dude, she said, this story about people making hot dog charcuterie boards. That are perfect for summer barbecues. And I gotta tell you as I guess, white, trashy as this is, it's kind of cool, So I'm looking through it and I'm It just looks so Pinterest E or It's kind of adorable, though the hot dogs kind of go in, you know, into this big round platter. You have chips. You have little watermelon. You have some condiments, toppings from different all lives in the like, and these types of things and It looks delightful, but I think this could take on Ah, life of its own. I'm a big fan of having Things for people to feel as comfortable as possible to get to so they don't have to ask. The only problem with things like this whenever breads out. To me. If it's uncovered, then it starts to get kind of dry. On and I'm not a fan of that. So to me, as long as this food is moving quickly, and you're going through and producing it as quickly as possible, then you know, people are enjoying it, eating and doing all of those things, and that's that's fine because they're gonna have a good time they're gonna enjoy it enjoy with family and friends. However, when you do, it's these This. In this case, the what I've now deemed the White Trash charcuterie board, which is hot dogs and the like. When you do this, sometimes they look really pretty, but then they get stale and they're not is primed for for consumption. They're there in lies the rub, Right? The difference between good looking food and tasty food. So if you're going to do something like this, make sure that you've got the family or the participants in your barbecue to consume this stuff so that you're not left with dried out buns. I'm sorry. I hate that. I hate a hot dog or hamburger with a dried out bun. It bugs the crap. It's like, Don't even give it to me at that point. That the kind of doing this that comes with a steamed money is great. Or even if it's you grill it off with a little bit of butter or even mayonnaise, which is a really good choice for grilled cheese and also getting that little tartness in there. It tends to give you a nice crisp Edge there. You could put all that I'm a sucker for. So if you're gonna do a hot dog charcuterie board if If that's your jam, go for it, but make sure that people are gonna be consuming it throughout the day. Quickly enough, Same with any charcuterie board. Sometimes you start seeing them out for a little bit, and it's like Or they're beautiful for for 10 minutes. Then everybody starts picking apartment Looks like a garage sale the end of the day. And you're like, Oh, yeah, There's that one used to be four legged now three legged chair and you kind of do that polite thing where you do the walk around, and well, thank you, but really, you don't need that old toaster that looks like it's never been cleaned and Anyhoo going on a tangent.
