"What the hell is up with the stupid hour by hour temperature graph? This isn't statistics class. Just give me the time and the projected temperature. That's it. This thing is useless. Right. All right, let's go to the tweet. All right, on to the tweets. The starting block at the starting block writes this was on Tuesday night. What will happen first? Jordan walker won't get a hit or the raise will lose a game, Jordan rock, walker zero for four last night. Yep, well, the raise answered that question for you starting block. All righty, Zach bison at Zach beast in 22, writes in buster. What are the twins doing that the guardians are not to lead the AL central? Well, they're pitching has been absurdly good early in the year. And we'll see if they continue that. I know when I was around the twins camp early on, it was confidence about how good the pitching would be, especially backed by what was an effort by the twins front office to make the defense better. Andrew Campbell at real camp three writes in talking home run celebrations. Do you all remember The Tonight Show in New York with our old pal, Ronald Torres and Aaron judge, instant classic, they had the shoebox camera and bat mic. It was a full production, but nothing beats the simple thumbs down Sally in 20 17. Love the thumbs up. Scott Fraser. That was Todd Frazier. That was great. Reggie at baseball Yoda weather writes in baseball, keeps saying it would want to expand to 32 teams. My question with so many teams wanting and why not 36, 36 is very doable. We went from 20 to 24 and 69. That's a 20% increase. That is what 30, two 36 is. He lays out a whole scheduling plan. I think it's just all about diluting the talent pool in the product. Yeah, now I think they got to go slower than that. I do think two are two is perfect. Corey Rupert's with the last one of the week, Corey writes in, adding Salt Lake City to Vegas, Portland, a national is expansion spots is perfect. The a's to Las Vegas, the race pick one of the other three, two expansion teams remaining in the other two, killing two birds with one stone with the a's and Tampa Bay needing new stadiums. Yes. West needs some more teams. It's thin out here. Seattle's travel miles are outrageous. I think the rays jump to Nashville and Portland and Salt Lake City get expansion teams. What do you think about all this? If I had to guess today, I think the razor sold to another owner in the Tampa Bay Area, maybe with in Tampa, then that's where they land. I don't know where the athletics are going to land. I always say that you're not going to believe anything about the athletics getting a new ballpark still actually a ribbon cutting and a groundbreaking ceremony. I do think that they do need another team out west, Salt Lake is really interesting. We've talked about Portland. I think it's a done deal that Nashville will get one of the two expansion teams. "And just like that, Christmas is saved. Oh my goodness. You have watched a lot of hallmark movies, okay? Because you and I both know it was about money and about the biggest stage. Which, by the way, is totally Carlos's prerogative, right? It was about the Christmas spirit buster about love. All right. All right, I'm not gonna like inject any more reality. Let's get the bleacher tweets. Okay, our first one comes from Corey Rucker. Oh boy, buster Taylor and Sarah getting that pod ready after the koen coop, just like that we are. Yes, we are. Next one is Terry Jackson, on dance peace wants and siding with the cubs. I am devastated. Why? How I want to know all the details of the negotiations was there even a negotiation. I'm still grieving Freddie Freeman. Now this, what next? Von Grissom? Yeah, so there was a negotiation. The braves offered dansby a contract, they held the line as they have in some of their other negotiations, including with Freddie, and we don't really know if they would have stretched a little bit above where they were, but the fact is, is that the cubs offer blew the braves offer out of the water. It was like $75 million more. I felt and we talked about on the podcast, by the way, now Dan's be effectively would have a choice. Would he either take the money of the cubs or would he go back to Atlanta, the team that he played with and won a championship with and Sarah? Humble bragged to Taylor that in the week of the winter meetings, when we projected where all these short stops would land, we were a 100%, right? We nailed them all, but now that was blown up because the Correa to the Giants prediction turns out to be completely wrong and he winds up as a third baseman of the mets. I did not predict that. Next up is Andrew Campbell at real camp drew, buster. If you're an MLB GM, would you ever trade a superstar way for a gaggle of prospects? Boston has virtually nobody left from the Mookie trade. No one in Washington is going to live up to Soto or Scherzer. And the rockies return for aeronautic wasn't much either. Yep, that's exactly right. There's a perception I've had people in the Red Sox organization who tell me this that when you look back at how they handled the bet situation, they clearly traded him 6 months too late. They should have traded him before the trade deadline. And what was it 2020? And it's really cost them. And now we've seen the angels with Otani in a likely to be a free agent endeavors unless the Red Sox sign of those guys could be trade candidates sometime this July and along the same lines they're probably not going to get a ton. I would say this. The Juan Soto deal, I think it's too early to say whether or not that was a bus because the perception was the nationals did get a lot in young town. And last up is Debbie gammons Brown. We all know that no one can top Sarah ling's love for baseball, but we definitely have to include Terry Francona at the top of the list along with Tim kirkton and Peter gammons. And Doug glanville is really smart insightful dude. Do you think you'll ever end up in a front office somewhere or as an executive with MLB? I got to ask Doug the question about, you know, why that hasn't happened. I'm sure he's been approached with the opportunities, but I know this Doug absolutely loves his family and he knows that if he works in the front office, it directly impacts the time he spends with his family, the more time he spends in an office, staying on planes means less time with his kids. All right, that's it for bleacher tweets this week. Be sure to submit your question using hashtag bleacher tweets. That's it for today. And by the way, Sarah, we've settled on the next show. We're not going to have a show next week. We are going to tape a show. It looks like on January 6th, Friday, January 6th. So have great holidays. And the other thing I was going to mention this as well, we need to thank Taylor because Taylor put together an almost a completely complete show yesterday before the Quran news broke. So you're going to step up and thank him? Taylor, thank you so much for all of your hard work. It is absolutely devastating that yesterday's episode will not see the light of day, but you are never forgotten.

"Tweets already buster bleacher tweets for a Mundy, Andrew Campbell at real camp drew writes in, okay, buster gonna be a lot of talk about the all star snubs, but how about some of the good stories from this all star roster? How about some Jose trevino? Julio Rodriguez, Martin Perez, nasty Nestor, Tony Gonzalez, Luis arise and heck Albert and miggy two. Yeah, there's no doubt there's some cool moments. And by the way, how about Aaron Boone secretly videotaping the Yankee players when he told him he was putting him on the all star team. He actually had his little laptop there. He didn't tell him he had his camera on. So that's how we got some of those cool reactions like this from Jose trevino. I know. I know you're all about winning the championship. That's what we're here to do, right? And one of the reasons we're in this position that we're in right now is because of you. So I think there's a little break in the championship run next week. I think you should go to LA. So you can be in the midsummer class. It's gone. Yeah. You're an all star. And you 100% deserve this. You've been so good in every way, brother. You're a major league all star. No one ever ever be able to take that away from you. So happy for you. I appreciate it. Just getting started. Thank you. Thank you guys. In front of you. You're serious. You didn't know yet? No, I had no clue. Like I was like, oh, probably not going to go. Just take my three days. It was actually going to go buy a car in Texas. You're serious, right? Oh, LA, brother? Dodger Stadium. Yeah. If you would have told me a year ago, I wouldn't have believed. New York Yankee, and then it all started. I wouldn't believe you. I'd be like, no, I'm going to be, I don't know. Amy Chapman at Amy R Chapman writes in buster. I agree with Taylor and Sarah on the Kyrie sail stitch. That's a good zing. In my opinion, he risked injury, broke things. It might be hard for a minor league team to afford and replace. And even if he comes back, he can't play in Toronto, why give him a players will be players pass. So yesterday, this is a true story, rob Bradford and I were sitting in the dugout and Ritchie hill walks up, you know, he, of course, a friend of the podcast, great guy, been pitching forever, and he had the same reaction I did. Yeah, that happens all the time. He was telling stories about how he smashed a mirror by bouncing a bottle of water. I'm telling you guys, this happens all the time. It just happened to be a videotape on it. It's not unusual. I don't mind it, just you just need to get the push broom out afterwards and clean up after yourself. Not gonna happen. Now that I mean, hey, by the way, if you thought that was the case, where players would help out with cleaning up after themselves, have you looked at the bottom of dugout after every game, like the between the sunflower seeds and the gum and the spit and all that, players aren't cleaning that up. I think that's fine, but I feel like the gratuitous destruction of property is not great. And if you want to do it, clean up after yourself. That's all I'm saying. Let's stop. I know Tom and I haven't convinced Taylor bye bye convinced you after telling you like players are like, hey, that happens all the time. And rich hill, you heard him, Sarah. He's like the nicest guy ever. He's not a snap guy. And he's telling us yet, yeah, that's what goes on. I understand it happens all the time, but I'm with Taylor. Like if you're gonna smash something, clean it up, you know? If it's on you and it's an expensive thing, like Amy Chapman was saying, that's hard for a minor league team. You know? Manners. Manners. Eduardo Perez David Cohen had the same reaction I did. Like, this is what it said. This shouldn't be a big deal. I do appreciate his passion. Do you appreciate the passion? I understand the passion, but if you're gonna break things, clean them up, replace them. Yeah, all right, we'll put that controversy to bed. Be good to each other at the legend two to 8 8 8 writes in how is it possible Clayton Kershaw has never started an All-Star Game? Would you support honoring him at Dodger Stadium by starting him over guys having better seasons, including Alcantara and Gonzalez? Yeah, it's shocking that Kershaw is not starting All-Star Game. There's certainly been situations in the past when he's earned it, and you know what, sandy Alcantara is. I was talking about with Tim. He's earned it this year. And I don't think you should take it away from him to give a gratuitous nod to Clayton Kershaw who's been an unbelievable player just because the game happens to be in LA. Sandy Alcantara has earned the right to be the start of this year. Absolutely. All right, we're gonna wrap up bleacher tweets with the praise for the Baltimore Orioles rolling in over the weekend. Am I mentioned? I'll rattle a couple off here. Brian role at baseball Brian writes in are the Orioles the scariest AL east team for contenders to play against right now. I would still say the Yankees probably not. Sarah langs at slangs on sports, just wrote the Orioles the other night, probably after walk off on Friday. Matt, kayaking Smith, follow up for Sarah. How obnoxious is it working with Taylor right now? I'm pretty level headed, Sarah, right? I don't think you're being obnoxious. I'm happy when my Friends are happy. And you know, he has been through the ringer. He deserves it. Deserves to talk the talk. Last one, Katie Casey tweet your bleach buster, your pick of Toronto to win the World Series could be destroyed by Taylor's Orioles only two games back, what university is what universe is this destroyed by the oils is a little presumptuous, I think. Yeah, I noticed Sarah did you notice how there was no pre show conversation. Taylor just sort of took over the bleacher tweets to celebrate his Orioles. Yes, he absolutely did. And you know what's funny in the very beginning when he first was doing the accent and everything in my head. I'm like, man, little obnoxious. Little obnoxious. But you've deserved it. You've earned it. I'm happy for your happiness. Thanks for writing in everyone. Hashtag bleacher tweets on Twitter. Everyone. Man, Taylor, for someone who's from that area.

"Tweets already buster bleacher tweets for amundi, PK Steinberg's up first, he writes in. Do you think players miss tall's hill at the Houston ballpark is that the weirdest part of the playing field obstacle you can think of? Yeah, so that's tells him, excuse me. For Cal Smith, it was part of the design. They had a center field. I think it's the weirdest design part of a ballpark. In other words, this wasn't something that was like there in 1900 and is still there later on. Like Wrigley Field, the mounds for years that were in foul territory. This was something they designed to have in the park. I miss it. I enjoyed it. I, you know, had covered Randy Smith who was tal's son and got to know a little bit through the years. And I kind of bombed it, it's not there, but I also understand why they took it out because players thought that it was dangerous. Josh Schmidt's at chivalry undead rates in the Yankees are 49 and 17. They have 96 games remaining if they played 500 baseball for the rest of the year they would finish 97 and 65 is the AL east race over. Yeah, so about three and a half weeks ago, I declared the NL east race over and then the braves won like a million straight games. So I think I used up my one Mulligan on declaring races over off the record. Yeah, I think it probably is over. Good to say out of that business way to go off the record. Andrew Campbell came through. Hey buster, a wild ending to the Yankees blue James Blue Jays game Sunday kind of overshadowed another fantastic offensive performance by glaber Torres. He currently leads the AL leads all AL second baseman home runs, slugging percentage is he quietly inserting himself into the All-Star Game. Yeah, and by the way, he's also among the leaders at that position in baseball for defensive run safe. So all the way around, he's a better player now that he's moved from shortstop to second base. I think he struggled so much the last couple of years. I wonder if it'll take people some time to sort of process the fact that he has gotten better. And I, you know, the Yankees have a lot of other players who probably are gonna be ahead of him in terms of making the all star team. J Sosa at J Sosa O 9 rates and buster wondering if rylan Freeman's little brother from the Sunday Night baseball game in Houston tried to negotiate as well for your paper notes such a cool Father's Day story. Yeah, so Jay must have been in the stands when that happens. So I left doing that interview, Taylor, and I got up the stairs from the Crawford boxes and all of a sudden I heard somebody yelling for me. Oh no. And I had left my notepad there and here came Weston right behind, hey, you know, who's his little brother? I'm guessing there's about 11 years old. And so he brought this to me. No, there were no negotiations. He was gracious to return my notepad. Very nice. Andrew desalvo at de Salvation rates and what is going on with Juan Soto this season nearly 250 at bats is no longer a small sample. This is just poor performance now. I got to wonder and I'm not around the team on a daily basis if this might be a case of a player on a great player on a bad team, maybe getting a little bored and maybe not getting the same sort of pitches. I've seen it happen before. I say that as an observation, not as a judgment on them. I think it's not uncommon to see great players frustrated when they're in a losing situation. He did get an upper decker dinger yesterday, so that was exciting for nationals fans. Steve Bannon at S banton 16 writes in, hey buster, I heard umpires get a two inch perimeter of the home plate where if they're wrong, it won't count against their evaluation is that true. They did away with the neighborhood play at second, but it's okay for the umpire to be close rather than right. I didn't hear that it was specifically a two inch perimeter, but I do hear there's a buffer zone and I asked someone what's the average score for a major league umpire grade for a game that you work behind no plate, the average grade Taylor, and you and I really wish.

"Tweets already buster bleacher tweets for a Wednesday, and as promised in our previous segment with Todd radham, here is our weekly quiz for you buster. You gotta be on the record for this one. Oh boy. So here we go. You try to get out of this too before we record. Let the listeners know here. All right, here's the question. Which team has the longest active winning streak of World Series games one? Is it a, the San Francisco Giants? B, the Cincinnati reds, C, the Chicago White Sox, or D, the Saint Louis Cardinals. Gotta be the reds. Winner winner chicken dinner buster. Wow. Wow. Didn't even blink. No hesitation. Now, now some there are some parts of my brain that don't work. That's one part of my brain that works. All right, well, hey, aren't you glad you did the question then? Yep. I didn't feel like a genius. How'd you guys do with that question? Not great. I'm so wrong. All right. Forgot that. Well, the order to the universe has been reestablished then. Absolutely. All right, let's go to the tweets. We got a whole batch from here. Pat Johnson at the melting pad is up first. Pat writes in on Thursday, my son, Arthur will be a year old, happy birthday. They Arthur. I think I have to thank the podcast crew for getting us through TV and COVID and late night feeds to make this about baseball who climbs from the seller first. My Phillies or Taylor's Orioles. Yeah, the Phillies. I don't think it's close, and by the way, pat, congratulations. That is actually a fun time and being a parent. But it's got to be the Phillies, because the Orioles have a ways to go. I keep on getting all the tweets from world fans who are like, you need to give the Orioles credit. I'm like, okay, you know, they're a little better, but that's like going from an F grade to a D I mean, they're still on a pace to win like 68 games. My buddy texted me a couple of days ago and was like, oh, the oils turn the corner. I'm like, they can just, you know, this is a bound to happen in baseball. You know, a couple stringing together. I mean, the bar was so low. Hey, we won more than 52 games. You know, we'll see. And the key question is, is as the team gets better and this talent that they've been collecting by tanking grows will ownership spend money the way that the cubs in the Astros did to augment it. That's the key question. Would you agree with me? Oh yeah. And I mean, when are we going to start seeing these young guys too? Right. They're all being held up in the miners, and it's incredibly frustrating to watch. Another one of my Friends has convinced me that all these guys are going to be good. So that's where my head is right now. Who knows how reasonable that is? Let's go to Ed at EF cade, maybe. My submission for bleacher tweets, having the cameraman on the field during the player celebration is a distraction thoughts. And they're not. I kind of like the up close and personal. And I know in some of the cameramen who have had that job, do we at duke and then we have Jared, great guys, players like it. I like it. And players aren't bothered by it. Andrew Campbell at real camp drew is up next, Andrew writes, and hey buster, it's become quite fun watching future all star Nestor Cortez just deal every 5 days. But the way the league's pitchers are ahead of the batters this year isn't as much fun, Major League Baseball's average is two 33, the league OPS 6 77 he threw in a barf emoji in there. Any way we can fix this. Yeah, I do think they will have some sort of regulation shifts next year. I hope they have some sort of a regulation. The use of relief pitchers, which I think is contributing this because you're seeing a parade of guys who are throwing 98 mph. And I agree with you about context being so important. And in Nestor Cortes is terrific and you see in a lot of great pitching stats, but it reminds me of the late 90s when everyone was hitting 30 homers. Like the feet of hitting 30 homers didn't feel quite as exciting because the context. Mike mosque at the mosque three is up next. Heim bloom's fingerprints are all over the Red Sox failure. He's constructed an aging rotation and an awful bullpen who's the closer he's alienating fans and destroying the Clubhouse by mishandling Bogart's contract. I think that's all correct. Well, and I'd say this. I mean, haim bloom is not alone in the decisions when it comes to paying Xander bogarts. That's an ownership decision, not heim's decision. He might give a recommendation, but in the end, it's up to ownership to decide whether or not they feel like keeping Xander bogarts is the centerpiece is worth it to the organization and as it meant saying the podcast, they damn well better reassess that because I think it's clearly having an effect on the team. Don Irvine writes in all 5 teams in the NLS or above 500, are they all that good or is this a fluke that will correct itself by the end of the season? Flu, I don't think there's any chance the rockies finish at 500. Danny norlander at DL norlander is up next. He writes in hey buster, the Nats are the second best team in total hits this year fourth and batting average, 9th in runs and RBI, but they're pitching as awful 29th and the ERA and whip any chance of a turnaround with the return of Strasbourg dolittle and Harvey by June and July. No, I think Mike Rizzo, their general managers demonstrated. He will be aggressive when it comes to flipping assets when he feels like that the Nats don't have a chance within the context of division led by the braves and the mets. I don't think they have a chance to contend this year. Last one for today, chief beef at Carl havoc. I love this Red Sox piling on makes me so happy. He writes in Xander bogarts, not being paid, has nothing to do with the bullpen not being able to hold and save games, same goes for the bottom of the order not being able to hit their way out of a paper bag. I don't know. I mean, I think it can be related to some degree because the offensive struggles. And it's possible that some of what's going on with the offense, you might be related to what happened with bogarts. And guess what? That's put more pressure on the pitching. And the pitching, you're right, has folded. So I do think that they're interconnected in some way. Already, that will do for bleacher tweets, hashtag bleacher tweets on Twitter while you're watching the games, please follow rate and review this podcast wherever you listen to your podcast and.

"All right, buster here is this week's bleacher tweets first up from mister jakey RS, the Giants are trying to sell many ticket plans. I find this infuriating considering the lockout. Am I being unfair? No, I've got friends who have season tickets and they're getting requests for money and they're basically saying that they're going to take their money out of it until they there's a resolution. They're annoyed. You're not alone, mister jakey. Up next, we have Kyle benning. So baseball owners in 2020. We have biblical losses due to no ticket sales. We can't pay minor leaguers and need staff layoffs. Baseball owners in 2022. Let's have a lockout in short season to squeeze the players. We can endure a loss of ticket sales revenue. Kyle getting some things off his chest. Yeah, when I'm really going to be curious about that this continues to drag on. If at some point, the owners essentially go to the nuclear option, where they decide through the mounting frustration over the negotiations in recent years, you know what? We're just going to sit in our bunker and we're going to wait until the other side potentially fragments. That would be absolutely disaster, but I think it's one of the options at play for the owners. And I'm curious to see how long they take it. And next up, we have Andrew Campbell. Let's forget this toxic mess for a sec. What's your favorite baseball moment in a non baseball movie? I personally love Robin Williams, Carlton fisk story from goodwill hunting and the World Series moment and one flew over the cuckoo's nest. A classic as well. So I've got a couple I agree that Robin Williams Carl and fist story from goodwill hunting was amazing, but I must say like since that was produced by Harvey Weinstein. There's now a cold spot in my heart for that movie that wasn't there before. I actually have never seen one flow of the cuckoos nest two that I was thinking about. One was awful. My best friend's wedding, Julia Roberts goes to the press box where sports writers are working and based on, you know, that I guess screenwriters version of how sports writers are, they just sit and get drunk during the course of all games that don't actually work, and it was like, that person didn't have anything. The other one was Tom Cruise in a few good men when he was walking around his apartment at an Atlanta Braves game against the San Diego Padres in the background. And I think it's Jerry Coleman, who is a friend of mine whose voice was on that. I thought that was pretty cool. So a few good men one was good, but Sarah, as I was preparing mine, I was thinking, you may not have seen a few good men, right? And you may have my best friend's wedding. No, I have seen both of those. My family are big movie buffs and my dad. My dad raised me right. He sent me out to watch a few good men with me. And my best friend's wedding is a great classic movie. Love it. The one that comes to mind for me is Twilight. Listen, it's a cinematic masterpiece that specific scene. The cinematography, the music, the form, the technique. I almost can't even use that as my answer because it almost makes Twilight a baseball movie. It is that good. I've never seen Twilight. I have no idea what you're talking about. Well, hopefully this will hit home for some people who were forced to watch Twilight against their will or who like it as a guilty pleasure. Taylor also sent me one as well. It's not from a movie, but it's from the show Sex and the City. So the ladies go to a Yankees game and carry scoops up a newly called up minor leaguer. And Samantha Jones hits us with this just all time great line. And it's the only place I can smoke without Giuliani putting me away for ten years. These seats suck this hot dog sucks, my entire life sucks, which I think with all this labor stuff might sum up, you know, some baseball fans feelings right now. I think the next blade should tweet also. I think we'll also led me to that. Yes, a perfect transition to our last tweet from PK Steinberg. Dreamed last night that my wife and I were walking around London with Joey Votto. He was wearing a red wrestling singlet naturally. Over the course of the day, he grew sad. Asked why he responded, I just want to dance. Do you do dream analysis? Should we take a crack at this one? So I almost texted this morning almost texted Joey bottle this morning and say, here's what here's what someone fan was dreaming about. How would you translate this? But this seems absolutely clear. I just want to dance. He just wants to play baseball. That's what's going on here, Sarah, isn't it easy? Yes, and I actually looked up a dream analysis website to get this in to see if this has any significance or deeper meaning. So according to Miller's guild dot com, dreaming about dancing can also be symbolic for a cry for freedom. Trust issues in your inner circle and a battle with anxiety. So I don't know. I think it is all the labor stuff. It's all the baseball. It all comes back to baseball labor. Trust anxiety for freedom to be out on a ball field. Your inner circle gave life. Right. So I don't know. I don't know who that might be targeted to. PK Steinberg or Joey Votto. Either one. Well, I might text Joey later today and just let him know that he came up in a very unusual way on our podcast. All right, that's it for today. My thanks to Sara, nice job feeling in today, Sarah. Thank you. It was super fun. And my thanks to Rhett weisman, to Harry Marino, to Taylor swink and the great Tim kirchen, have.

"We have a great one right off the bat. PK Steinberg at PK Steinberg on Twitter. Since you're ranking the top MLB players, how about ranking each of the following based on their actual power and labor negotiations? Rink from the following MLB, MLBPA, Manfred and the fans. Well, I'm going to go individual owners number one because they clearly have gained so much financial landscape in the last negotiation in the end of 2016. They have the ability to step in and say, you know what? We're going to make concessions. We're going to give the player association more of what they want. So the likes of already Moreno and build the wind and how Steinbrenner, those guys would be number one in the power rankings. Number two would be agent Scott Boris. So I think has a lot of influence as to what's going on here. Most of the executive committee for the player association is made up of Scott Boris clients. And he is perceived by a lot of other folks in the union, a Major League Baseball side is having a lot of influence as to what's going on. Number three, I'd say Bruce Meyer, who's the lead negotiator for the Players Association. Number four is Max Scherzer. I think he's got influence among the players. You know, he's viewed generally speaking as the number one player in these talks, although Andrew Miller was a representative of the players in that December 1st meeting that lasted 7 minutes. I think max is an important voice in this. I'd actually put rob mafra behind those four or that for those four groups. Because he's a lawyer for the owners. He's going to do it with the owners, owners want. He's taking marching orders for them, and there's no doubt about it in the power rankings, the fans are last. Andrew Campbell at real camp drew. Hey, buster, since no contact is allowed between teams and players, would any of those guys get in trouble for using an intermediary for instance, can Aaron judge go to Joe schmo and then Joe schmoe talked to Aaron Boone? Yeah, I think you theoretically could get in trouble for using an intermediary. I mean, that would be really hard to prove. Sarah, if I wanted to find out how Taylor shrink was doing and I was forbidden because he's on vacation from reaching out to Taylor and I reached out to you and talked to you and you talked to Taylor, I could get a general update as to what was going on. Who's going to track that? And this world, paper trails are everything. So I mean, I always wonder about screenshots if they're texting it to each other. I think that's the only way it could potentially get traced back to them. But I don't know who would wrap them out for that or who would even dig that deep. Yeah, exactly. Let's say that Aaron Boone was Aaron Boone wanted to find out about a rehabbing Yankee player and he just reached out to a friend of the Anki player and said, hey, tell me what you got. What have you heard? As you say, there wouldn't be any paper trail. That type of conversation. New year, not new Matt. It's my birthday weekend. A weekend, I usually spend planning baseball trips for the next year. But I'm not committing dollars until we know a season start date. How much our owners realistically losing holding out and do they even care? They would lose a lot if they lose the start of the season. And that's just in terms of the immediate game checks, but I also believe that they would do significant damage to their own product. I think if the baseball season doesn't start on time in the middle of the pandemic, that there would be there would be very few people who would feel sorry for them. And feel sorry for either side for that matter. So would you tell new year not new Matt to start booking hotels? No, don't put hotels. I'm really pessimistic. I just don't see as I was talking about with Jeff, I just don't see the person, the mechanism that's going to lead to a deal. That has not even begun to evolve before our eyes. John hollander, at John Tong, they're on Twitter. Am I wrong for thinking that big market owners should align more with the MLBPA rather than small market owners? Boston, New York Yankees, New York mets, LA Dodgers, et cetera, don't care what they spend in just want to win, while Cleveland, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, Oakland, et cetera, are just trying to prop it. And John, that absolutely is one of the fault lines. It's always existed in these negotiations in 94 95. The problem wasn't really a disagreement between the players and Major League Baseball, the problem was the disagreement between the big owners and the small owners. The players will always align without a doubt with the big market teams more closely because those are the teams that are going to spend the most money where, on the other hand, you have some of the small market teams who want to have lower payrolls and so often we're seeing the small market teams involved in tanking, which is something that's really important to the player association in this negotiation. Before we leave buster, you mentioned you're in big sky. I know that's where Taylor is. Have you.

"Tweets already buster and bleacher tweets for a Tuesday. We have Corey rooker up first at Cory R 12, Cory writes in. This upcoming Hall of Fame ballot is packed with great players. Do you think the max of ten will get inducted? No, gore I don't. Look, I don't think bonds and Clemens are going to get in. I unfortunately feel like this whole conversation is going to go on and on and on. In fact, I actually think that class is going to turn out to be thinner than what people realize. I encourage you to get in. I'm really curious as I was talking about with Jesse that David Ortiz and how the writers handle him for me. He absolutely is a slam dunk first ballot Hall of Famer. Alex Rodriguez, you know, he is a member of good standing as far as Major League Baseball is concerned. Working under baseball's umbrella, I would vote for him. If I had if I had a ballot, but I don't think he's going to get in this year. So we'll see how it plays out. Our guy Reggie wrightson at Greenfield and mine buster I saw the report about the Hall of Fame battle today with the best thing for baseball no matter what you think of them off the field be for bonds, Clement shilling Sosa Ortiz and a rod all to be voted in and get this thing over with. Yeah, my I mean, the way I reached, you know, where I was and the voting by the time I got done was just put the best players in the Hall of Fame, who are eligible. You know, to me, the whole question of whether or not you should vote for them. The moral question, it's a stinking baseball Hall of Fame. It's not a house to the holy for God's sake. Just put the best players in and if they're eligible and you know what, Major League Baseball, the baseball Hall of Fame determined that by a the question of whether or not they're banned? And Pete Rose is banned. He's in a different category than guys like bonds and Clemens. He's never had his name appear on a ballot. And that's because Major League Baseball banned him and the Hall of Fame's never put him on a ballot. All of these guys have been put on ballots. Alex Rodriguez, you know, which just put on a ballot. David Ortiz was just put on a ballot. Bounces Clemens has been on there for ten years. I don't know why a lot of writers decide they want to play morality, please. I just don't get it. Oh, and by the way, I'm sorry, I'm off on a tangent now. Okay, the writers, you know, who don't vote for these guys. You know, apply the character clause. Let's be clear about what the character clause is here. First off, there's no indication that before Mark McGuire's name hit the ballot in 2006 that the character clause was ever used as a crossroad for whether or not you put a guy in, and let's remember this. The character clauses written by kennesaw mountain Landis, who is this segregation is to work to keep blacks out of baseball. So let's not hang on this high and mighty character clause, okay? That is, I feel like the character Claus thing with the tide to kinda saw that that is such a uniquely American thing. Like with baseball writers just drop kennis on mountain Landis name from their MVP vote and yet you can have a light a lot of writers apply his words in deciding who's in the Hall of Fame. It's stupid. It's a joke. These people should be embarrassed. That's me speaking. Next up, we've got Andrew Campbell at real camp drew. Hey buster, if you can look into your crystal ball and forecast any prospect from 2021 that could be an MVP candidate in 2026, who do you think has that future star power, guys like adley richman and Spencer torkel center easy picks? But what about Anthony volpe? Hope I pronounced that correctly. Who do you think's part of this next wave here? Yeah, and Anthony vault is going to be a big part of the Yankees conversation about shortstop this winter because they could, you know, yes, they could theoretically pay Corey Seager, they could pay a Carlos Correa. But Anthony volpe is one of the shortstops they have coming up through the system. They love him. I was looking at an MLB dot com this morning. He's rated the 15th best prospect. And I'm also a little bit better because he committed to Vanderbilt before the Yankees paid him a lot of money. Bobby wood junior, again, he's in a lead guy already. I can't wait to see him play Jack lighter because the Vanderbilt connection it'll be fun to watch him pits. And a guy who had a taste last year, I think he's going to have a high impact next year Shane boz for the Tampa Bay race. All right, buster, I'm gonna throw a curve ball at you to end the episode. We talked about it on SV pod last night, the perfect Thanksgiving plate or not yucking anyone's yums. We're not judging, but what is gonna go on your Thanksgiving plate on Thursday? Well, Turkey and some kind of green beans, okay. That's going to be my vegetable. My world famous mashed potatoes, they definitely would be part of that and stuffing. And I actually like the jelly cranberry sauce. Oh, okay. Okay. What about you? Turkey definitely dark meat. I like to state claim to one of the Turkey legs personally. Mashed potatoes, some sort of bread, whether it's cornbread, or maybe like a king's Hawaiian roll. And then I like something cheesy, they're macaroni and cheese. It depends on what is gonna be at my uncle's house. But macaroni and cheese are my aunt does a good cheesy broccoli rice. So that may get in the mix too. Minimal vegetables, though, straight up vegetables in my plate. That is for certain. Nice. I'm cooking a lot of Wednesday. I'm going to be doing some cooking. I got a side dish that I'm going to try. And I'm not going to tell anybody what it is until I decide whether or not it's a disaster. All right, well, we'll check in on it next week..

"Thing that stood out to me as far as those awards are concerned. But they go gloves. Again, generally speaking, I think they get most of these right because we have we're so good now and being rooted in the data. But I'm hopelessly biased. JT Realmuto is the best catcher in the national league buster. Jacob stallings had a really nice year. I know his blocking numbers. I think specifically were extraordinary with his past all allowance. And that kind of stuff. But generally speaking for wars like these, I use a player's body of work to be able to sort of break ties because defense can be a little bit noisy year to year and obviously you're not watching them play defense the same way that you're watching them hit and evaluating them as such. And DT real much was the best arm in baseball. He prevents base runners from stealing better than anybody. His framing numbers are always fantastic. Baseball perspective had him third in blocking run. So across the board for my money, he's the best catcher in the national league and I'm sure I was happy for Jacob stallings. The pirates didn't have the chance to win too much this year. So that would say amongst all the words that I went through this morning. Those are the two that stood out. Surprised that Bryant snicker wasn't a finalist for that award. And surprised at JT real Muto did not win the gold glove on the national league. All right, hambo. Always great to talk with you. Later, boys. Get out. Bleacher tweets already buster, bleacher tweets, for a Tuesday, we got Andrew Campbell at real camp drew writing in, hey buster, is it possible that Nolan Arenado has a chance to either tie or surpass Brooks Robinson's gold glove total of 16, Nolan is 30 years old and only needs 7 more gold gloves to tie if he reached 16, would he retire as baseball's greatest defense of third baseman? Andrew, the, you know, I love you. But the word only needs 7 more. Only 7, 9. He is a long way away, and I would say this as we move forward. Brian Hayes is going to be a major factor because his defense is special. Also you wonder Matt Chapman with the Oakland seemingly ready to dumps salaries if they're going to move match Chapman. And if he goes the national league, that's going to change the context for sure. He would be a really nice fit for the mets, for example. Adam Smith is up next at Schmidt FIA writes in with posey's retirement. There's been a lot of chatter in TC markets about mauer's case for the hall. He had an incredible few years, but I don't know if he has longevity or numbers. What are your thoughts? Yep, Hall of Famer, lifetime three or 6 batting average, three batting titles, MVP in 2009, four top ten finishes MVP 6 time all star 2123 career hits, which is 623 more than buster. In his career, 921 games at catchers, 6 O three at first base, posey had more games at catcher in his career, 1093, 229 games at first, but Joe mauer and his time as they catch her was a difference maker. You know, the other day I was texting back and forth with Bruce bochy, and he talked about what an advantage it always was for the Giants that they had an elite offensive player at catcher and the same is true for the twins. Let's go to Brian at a player to be named later, Brian writes in love the show. Can we talk about unicorn Joey Gallo back to back gold glove winner elite feet per second rate and bottom 1% in strikeouts ever seen this combo before? No, not with somebody that big. Well, actually, you know, when Aaron judge is a little bit like that, you know, in terms of his athleticism, but I remember when Joey first came to the big leagues and you see this hulking guys huge. And I was talking with John Daniels, the general manager of the rangers, and he was talking about how like Joey's a much better athlete than anybody realized his boy was he right. Let's go to Don Irvine. What's up, Don? Don writes in, now that Kyle schwarber is a free agent, do you see him signing with an AL team to serve as a DH rather than the NL considering his defensive deficiencies and will he get a multiyear deal considering his 2021 season? Yep, he'll get a multiyear deal, I think there's going to be universal BH for 2022. So he'll consider offers from teams in both leagues. Mister jakey RS at mister JK RS writes in, now that the season is over, what's the feeling on the crackdown over foreign substances after all the grumbling? Do you think it had an impact on the game? Was there a big enough sample size? Yeah, I think there was. It was clear that there were pictures affected by it. You know, spin rates, you could tell that some pictures were affected by it. You know, we had Alex Avila on the podcast and he acknowledged and agreed with what I saw down the stretch that there were a lot of pictures who actually using foreign substances, good old fashioned bullfrog, that sort of thing. I think they found a middle ground. I really hope that they settle this issue because it really is unfair to all of them. As I said during the year when people would talk about someone like a Scherzer or Garrett Cole as a cheater, I'd be like, I mean, 90% of the pictures were using something. And I really would love to get past the conversation. Last one for today, Matt, but covered in confetti at kayaking Smith rates and there's been talk on the pod that Seattle, Texas and Miami may make some splashes this off season. But what teams would be should be worried about setting up to tank next year. I feel like the cubs, guardians nationals and reds are candidates. Congrats on the braves, World Series there mat hope you enjoyed your celebrations. Yeah, absolutely. Look, the guardians don't tank. When we talk about tanking and Taylor sorry to pick a scab for you, I mean, we look at what the Orioles have done a recent years. We looked at what the Astros did in the early 2010s. The last time the Indians lost a hundred games was 1991. The Indians excuse me, the guardians retooled. The athletics retooled. They don't tank. The Orioles, there's absolutely no sign that they're going to veer from their strategy, which means, I'd say right now, whatever the over under is in Vegas, if you want to retire, I think you bet the under on whatever Vegas comes up with your team, what do you think? Oh, yeah, empty account. Bet it all buster bet it all on that under. I'm gonna check that out after we're done. I'm sure it's not up yet, but the second it is, you know where you define me. So thanks for writing everyone. Hashtag bleacher tweets on Twitter. Again, we're gonna do another show. Next Friday, we had a great batch of tweets this week, so keep them coming throughout the week and please follow rate and review this podcast wherever you listen to your podcasts. And just to touch on a couple of other teams real quick, Luis Castillo and Sonny gray, two guys to watch for the reds, I'm curious to see if they trade them. If they do, then you wonder if they're going to be retooling. They have too many good position players to actually go into full on tank. And I think the what to watch for for the cubs, do they make a major expenditure? You know, it was a good sign that they're not tanking that they picked up wade Miley. Before we go, I just want to mention we got sad news yesterday, Pedro Feliciano, longtime left handed pitcher passed away at age 45 and his sleep at word of Perez colleague tweeted out that news, I didn't really know him that well, but everybody that did know him better than I just they were heartbroken yesterday. So our thoughts go out to the family of Pedro Feliciano. My thanks to date to Carl to hambo to Taylor have a great day to everybody. Thanks for listening. Stay safe and remember, Hayden inequality based on skin color is something we need to fight against every single day. Thanks for listening to the baseball tonight podcast. If you're.

"Tweets already buster bleacher tweets for a Tuesday, Andrew Campbell at real camp drew rights and hey buster, putting aside the trash cans and buzzers. Do you think that the Astros continued success in October gives life to the tanking strategy, not every team has deep pockets like the Yankees or Dodgers, and it still seems easier to tank than do whatever the rays are doing over there. Yeah, Andrew I've said on the podcast many times, look under the current rules, tanking is a, I mean, it's a strategy that absolutely has been demonstrated to work. You can do it. And if you're an owner of a team, you win either way. If you tank and get first round picks or top picks, like the asters have maybe you win a World Series. And if you tank and you don't win and you don't get those picks, guess what? You still win because you make a crap load of money. Taylor, I'm curious, just wanted to follow up. You see what I'm saying about what Chris Bassett said, okay, Chris Bassett has his perspective. I'm not saying he's wrong. I don't know what's right and what's wrong, but for every Chris Bassett there is, we've had dozens of major leaguers who've come out and said the other way, would they feel like what the answers did was above and beyond. Forget the media. Forget what idiots like me think. It's pretty clear that there are a lot of players. It felt like the asteroids were wrong. Yeah, and I feel like this is some revisionist history on his part to try and cover himself a little bit and be like, hey, I wasn't. I didn't rat my teammates out. Everyone was doing it. Not that I think he's a rat or anything, but I think that yeah, just a little bit of coverage on his part. I think I lean into your camp because you're right. We had the superstars of the game coming out and admonishing in the clearest possible terms of what the Astros did. Yeah, not one or two or three or ten,.

We kind of expect they would have this absolute dominant one to bullpen punch at dinner. The games and i think a lot of people when they acquired kimbrel automatically made the white sox the favourite to come out of the but so far they have not been a dominant do also. That's something to watch for the white sox september can hendrix kimbro. Get back on track heading into the playoffs. But yeah then. He struggle against the cubs since trade. The topic is made for podcasts. Or radio it's like the white sox have closer problem. What's tony larussa gonna do. Hopefully i. it's interesting because we always evaluate these trades. The day they happen at the deadline that one out everybody thought absolute great trade for the white sox kimbrel had been. He'd been the best closer in baseball the first half with the cubs and he hasn't been that with the white sox doesn't mean we get october doesn't pitch twelve scoreless innings but it's a little bit of a concern for chicago right. Now let's go to andrew campbell at real cam. True andrew rates in if the yankees. Just keep on winning. Is there any chance. Garrett cole sneaks in at the very end and steals the al cy young award. He's thirteen and six so far. Two hundred strikeouts. What's his second in major league baseball in his era since at two point eight all while pitching in the al east. Well andrew count weird question. Because i think it's always been garrett cole and lance lynn sort of in one spot all year for the al cy young but now lens had a couple rough outings lately. Ziara which was in the low twos is up to five nine. So i think cole is the favorite right. Now he leaves the al and graphs war. Two point eight zero er a to me. He's the number one guy. So i don't think he's sneaking up at anybody. The guy who might be sneaking up is robbie ray. He's only nine and five but two seven to your a tough strikeouts. He's on a roll So i think kohl's the favourite i think robbie ray is number two right now and lance. Lynn is probably down the number. Three with nathanael volley few like war. He's kind of a dark horse Coal in war. Bobby meacham at bobby meacham. One rates giancarlo. Stanton has been on a tear at the plate since about the same time. He started playing games in the outfield. Do we know who was behind the decision not to play the field. All these months was at standing or the yankees. Yeah it's a good question. Another former player. Writing in bobby meacham up and coming superstar for the yankees in the eighties. That's a good question you know yes. Stanton did not play his first game in the outfield. Until i believe july thirtieth the first game anthony. Rizzo played with the team. This make you wonder. Is there correlation. Here that stan has started hitting since he's been playing the field. I don't know look obviously. They were to try to preserve his health. But you gotta let these guys play stanton always a pretty good defensive outfielder with the marlins so he's not gonna hurt the team out there. I think getting them in the field is helped and last one for today. Pk steinberg our friend writes in. Honestly what's tampa bay's secret freaking sauce. And why can't the pirates orioles rockies etc emulate and replicated their small market team with huge market success in a scoff at the angels dodgers and padres and yankees. What is it for you dave. Well how much time do we have to go into this. No the key to the raise. One organizational depth. They draft. Well they develop well both in the states and latin america and the key of course is the rapid turnover of the roster. They'll trade a player not as he's entering his final year before free agency but two or three years before he hits free agency which means they get a lot more in return. You know if a player has a career year though flip you know and get more younger players in return like. I don't think it's probably easier to be a fan of the race because you're always learning new players but that churn of the roster they make it work it takes a lot of guts to trade young players coming off good years but they're not afraid to do that and they basically have been competitive now since two thousand eight it. It's hard to pull off with their resources. They've done it and they continue to do it. They're gonna win that division. I'm over here. you can hear now. The world small violin for playing for tampa fans because they have to learn new player names who was not the best way to phrase that they they do a great job finding relievers kind of out of nowhere. They i hate to give credit to the front office is it's the players who would lose games. But it's more cohesiveness throughout the organization. And i know when i talked to raise players. They buy in completely and they know who's gonna be spending six years in tampa bay there no at some point. They're going to get traded. But somehow kevin cash and the coaching staff front office get complete absolute by in on what. They're trying to do there. And it works pretty jelly over here. Thanks.

"Let's go to the tweets. Here blue-jay josh at josh stay. He writes in. Which do you think it's more likely. The dodgers catching the giants or the reds catching the brewers for the division titles. I like this. You're only giving me those two options. I'm gonna pick say. The dodgers catching the reds because the dodgers have a lot of good players you know and they just have started this Sequence with having trae turns go along with core seger in the go along with monkey bets. max muncie so you wonder if that dapple manifest. I don't think the reds are catching brewers for national league central title. I do think the reds have a chance to the padres for the wildcard All right andrew campbell. Wrightson real camp drew and Andrew's question is kind of poorly timed because the yankees bullpen completely I mean they got the win but melted down the ninth inning there But i'm going to summarize. Send us a screen shot of a note. Andrew wants to know if the yankees work with relief pitchers turning them around. Coaching guys. Up is akin to raise work with position players turning around underperforming prospects into good major league players. Good call look. They certainly in recent years. They've done a good job of that And we've talked about in our teams like the race and the brewers being able to do that but you know. The dodgers have been excellent at that guys like chris. Taylor max muncie taking players skills in helping them find. Get the best out of themselves in. You're right the yankees have been doing that with relief pitchers. Let's go to mike hubbard at 'em hub five one three another ill-timed question but mike writes. And what would lewis. Kathy you have to do to win the cy young one point nine. Era since june. I yeah i think zack wheeler this point is the leader. What would you say taylor i. I think he's got a pretty like at this point absolutely Last one for today. Jr meco at jason. Miko are jason writes in. What's the word of evan longoria. Returning from injury. His collision with brandon crawford was seemingly devastating the time and was interesting. Because it happened between two multi-mm` cold glove winners. How good goodwill the giants bats be. Once he returns well first off. He is making progress. I checked on this this morning with three three last night with a whole run started to double plays in the field in his rehabilitation simon. In triple a. look. I thought the you know. The trade for ryan was excellent because longoria has any type of a setback and given his age. You know you have to build in for that you plan for that possibility brank third base or you could move around. They're an excellent team. I think it was dave jump field. Set it right yesterday. They're not the giants are coming back to the pack. There's an excellent chance. The giants are gonna finish the two thousand twenty one season with the best record in baseball. Not something about a possibility of before the year started. Certainly not all right. Good batch of bleach or tweets there. Please continue right in hashtag.

"Let's go to the tweets. Vince rates in with a Appointed question here he asks. Why do you hate the cub. So much yes buster. Why do you hate the cubs. You hate the mets too. I feel like those teams we We hear from fan so much that Sense on that question. Do you think admits minute like literally or a little tongue in cheek I think a little tongue in cheek. I think vince is a listener. So he's not. One of those twitter ran. Does that just comes at you. I feel like we hate. No one on this podcast. I do but you definitely don't. I don't know where he would get those vibes now. Now that the team that annoys me the most to the orioles on its absent bias covered the orders for the baltimore sun and i hate the idea tanking year after year of the united states. That lincoln's right. But yeah. I don't i don't hate i don't care we don't care wins and loses the games. It's good all right. Let's go donna. Irvine at donner don rights in now that the nationals are shadow of their former selves. What are the odds that the oil will win. More games this season in that buster will only a dinner. The nats sit at forty nine and fifty eight right now in the oriel said at thirty eight and sixty eight so eleven games apart not unrealistic but still unlikely now completely unrealistic. There's no chance that the orioles will overtake the nationals. No chance muster. They're ten and seven since the all-star break come on man. Here's a pulse. Not going to happen. The orioles gonna be playing all these teams that are trying to win okay and they will lose. Would you throw out. I alexander wells on the mound against the yankees. That's gonna happen to you now you got. I said i'm trying to not be mean you're throwing out a name. I did well anyway. Let's let's okay Western prince at western prince two rights with tigers seemingly pushing toward the next. Step of the rebuild who was a realistic free agent. Target this off season. Could they be an option for a top shortstop. Yeah and they're on our priscilla's came out yesterday and said they would be more aggressive from free agency. This off season this year has been a your progress for sure. It's hard to say at this point in a among the top shortstops. Who might be a guy that they would grab. No just off the top. My head's i. I kind of wonder about carlos correa to some degree is. Aj hinch knows them. And you know carlos is going to be out there and if you were the tigers he wanted to plant the flag that yes. You're moving forward that would be one way to do it. And i don't think carlos is to get like three hundred million dollar deal. I think he's gonna get a really good contract but not three hundred million dollars i suspect. Aj is gonna be in the back. Room saying yeah. You're the reasons why. Carlos for what makes sense for us. I like it. It's go to andrew campbell at real cam true injury rates and hey buster between these two division leaders. Which team do you think could come. October regret the ability to acquire a starting pitcher at the deadline. The raise or the mets the mets. From what i understand. The mets were working aggressively on some bigger deals and then when they got news on degrom which was in the last twenty five dollars for the deadline. Econo- pulled back. Like i think they made a decision based on the potential pluses and minuses. Like our team without rahm is not as dangerous. Windy graham and so. We're not going to be as ambitious in deal making. They did go and get hobby by as but they were not as aggressive as what they were talking about and last tweets for today john. Gillespie at johnny geo five. John writes in. Could crawford or posey's sneak in win the mvp and the nfl. Their offense has been great but their defense and what they mean to. The team has been priceless. Yeah look i think the nationally. mvp is completely wide. Open one guy that i think might have an is trey turner. Paul katie's guy. I knew we talked about. Because statistically he's authored tremendous star and now he's going to get this platform on which to play for the dodgers. If the dodgers rundown the giants and the nationally west i would not be surprised. Trae turner do the mvp. All right that doesn't for bleacher tweets hashtag bleacher tweets on.
