"That. A may nineteenth. Today's the day that would have been brother. Malcolm x's born day I don't know if i would still be with us today. Probably not because they would have been his ninety six born day. But what do i know But i do know he would have lived a lot longer. J. edgar hoover in fbi had infiltrated ny and used us to kill us. Just like they did. Fred hampton and others. But that's another convoy for another day but you know we are still dealing with so many things that we were dealing with malcolm x. with a live one in particular The one that causes so many black people anxiety probably in this social media era. We see way too many examples of it and it's the reason brothers and sisters can't just get in. There causes driving work or to the grocery store real quick peacefully and in good spirits because that primary scripts hormone cortisol shoots through our veins at the mere thought of what if in by what if i mean. What if i'm the next victim of police brutality. What if i get stopped by the police early this morning. What if i could stop by the police as i run out to chick-fil-a just to pick up a few trick chicken scripts waffle fries. An ice cream fruity kids. I mean listen I fear and i'm gonna be honest. I'm gonna be all over the place with this one. 'cause i just got so many thoughts i fear since the derek chauvin guilty verdict negroes have been sleep. Okay i don't even want to just say negroes because we have accomplished and allies of other races. Who are on the frontlines fighting with us. Pushing for police reform pushing for police to be held accountable. But where is the outrage for andrew junior. Where's the outrage for jamal. Southern lennon charleston south carolina. I mean video came out last week. Jamal sutherland ma. Sutherland was a mentally ill. Black man who was pepper sprayed and taped the death after appearing to resist leaving hisself for a bail. Hearing you got killed in a north charleston. Jail cell. it's on video. The video came out last week. I didn't watch. Because i can't do anymore black trauma but why didn't that video 'cause outrage. Yes two offices sergeant. lindsay endemic deputy brian. Who cool or how. I think you pronounce his last name. They got fired. But why haven't they been charged for crime. There was no reason to kill jamal sutherland. A human that you know had mental health issues. How those offices shouldn't even have been dealing with him in the first place okay bringing them into healthcare professionals and get out the way but my point in bringing nestorio up somebody asleep at the wheel. Did we get comfortable after the derek chauvin guilty verdict still know police reform. That had been passed in this country. We still waiting on the george floyd policing act to be passed. I mean videos like jamaal sutherland can come out. And there is no outrage. You know the rest. In peace to pull mikhail bryant. We spent so much time debating with each on that topic that we missed a brought. Appoint which as whenever a police officer feels threatened. He can justifiably kill us. Let me tell you why. That will always be a problem in america because black skin in america is a threat so black skin is a threat. You will always feel threatened brother x. Said it best. If you're not careful to newspapers will have you hate the people who are being oppressed and loving to people who are doing the oppressing. I don't know how this white supremacist system. That brutalized during slavery. Slavery brutalized during the jim crow segregation area era brutalize us during the war on drugs. Brutalize doesn't regard the mass incarceration so much blood on these white supremacists hands but they've convinced america. That black people ought to threat. Only reason. y'all feel like we threat is because you are afraid of your own karma okay. I'm going off on a tangent right now but let me bring it back. Ok andrew wobble district attorney north carolina. State that he is not prosecuting the officers who killed andrew brown junior. Maybe you already forgot about andrew brown junior. Maybe you didn't know but police serving a search warrant on his house and da said he thought that He was fleeing because he didn't wanna get caught with drugs. Brown was shot twice including once in the back end. Hey while attempting to flee from offices. The video shows officers approaching a car while they're in the back of a pickup truck officers approached the car on foot vehicle reverses officers who are still on foot around the car and at least one moves from the path of the cards starts moving toward the officer and officer then fired one round through the front windshield office started firing shots and then andrew drove away key word away from the offices okay. According to wobble he was going towards two police vehicles. They won't release the whole video so we don't really know but it's so much that's heartbreaking about this situation but listen to what the da andrew wambo had to say in regards to the shooting. Okay when you employ car in a manner that puts officers lives. That is a threat. And i don't care what direction your going forward backward sideways. I don't care if you stationary and neither do our courts and our case law play one more time it played a part is crazy and i don't care what direction your going forward backward sideways. I don't care if you stationary and neither do our courts and our case law. I don't know what to do our say. Maybe that's why seemed like. I'm just all over the place because i'm really sitting here thinking. What do you do when you're a black person. In america in regards to the police now if someone is using cars a weapon and trying to run over cops i get it but if a person is trying to get away or if a person is stationary house. Mom justified stationary. I really don't know what to do. What you do at your blackboards and america. Like i said if someone is using the car's a weapon and tried to run over cops get. It would've person who's trying to get away off a person stationary. My murder is still justified. Stationary as in not moving as in something. That doesn't move are currently not moving that type of stationary. That makes my murder justify that. Don't piss nobody off here in it. That doesn't make anybody outrace. Have we been rocked to sleep that much money. Derek chauvin verdict black people. We are literally at mercy of the police. Why because whenever police feel threatened they can use force in nothing threatens white supremacy more than blackness. I don't even know what to tell people anymore. I've been telling whoa folks to please take a nap. Get some rest because lack of sleep drives you crazy but don't sleep through this okay. Why is a person allowed to be. Da if he thinks someone should be murdered for being stationary in a car. That's justified i. I really don't have any words. I mean but being met malcolm x.'s born day. Let's let's malcolm x. I had to say about police brutality. Over fifty five years ago the police are able to the press to make the white public thing that eighty percent or ninety nine percent of the negro in the negro community are and once the white public is convinced that most of the negro community is a criminal element then. This automatically paves the way for the police from moving to the negro community exercising. Just stop tactics stopping any black man who is in the on the sidewalk whether he is guilty or whether he is in whether he is well dressed whether he poorly thr whether he is educated whether he has done whether he's a christian or whether he's a muslim as long as the lack a member of the negro community the white public things that the white policeman is.

"Back this is a conversation as as you all know. We've had many many times about what's going on and what social justice really should look like. An i think one of the things and sunny. You correct me if i'm wrong. I think one of the things that really has to happen is the transparency aspect of all of these shootings. And all of that. You can't you can't redact stuff you can't cut in and change i mean why isn't that just normal. Why why doesn't the law say you. Cannot you know give people redacted information when a family asp what that you have to give them all the info is that a law or should it be sunny. It's not a law and it's handled differently would be state to state jurisdiction abu jurisdiction. But i think you're right. The problem in so many of these cases and especially in the depth of andrew brown is the lack of transparency. I mean look at his son's pain look at it. You could feel it. It was palpable. I wanted to sort of you know. Just jump through the screen and be in the room with him and hold him and hug him. He's in tremendous pain at the loss of his father who he describes as a nonviolent. Good father who did everything for his family with his family in mind. And that is what's going on across this country. So many children are losing their parents to police violence with no accountability and also no transparency. Imagine losing your your father and having no real explanation as to what is happening in this case you have a district attorney who said that. It was justifiable justifiable. Use of force to shoot him in the back of the head while he was leaving the scene leaving his home in a in a car. I mean that to me it is just. It's dumb founding. And i think you know after the verdict in the in the derek chauvin case you know we all thought that okay. There's gonna be such a change. You almost felt the change happening. But i'm just not so sure when when you look into the eyes of of khalil. I've been that it's tough. It's why sarah you what your thoughts on this as we're looking at just yet. Another case will you watch the tragedy of someone losing their their their father their parent and to have video of it and that that violent loss that sudden loss and for him to have to watch it over and over but also that lack of transparency. You referenced. I think the biggest thing here is i wouldn't. I don't understand. Maybe sunny could expand on this. What would be the grounds forever redacting unless there was something they were hiding because at this point by not showing it. You've now created doubt that there's something there we should see But most of all. I just my heart goes out to seeing khalil's pain which is visceral as he's dealing with this and dealing with it in privacy is hard enough dealing with it in the national spotlight adds an element of of heaviness that. It's just very hard to hear right right and mangan you as you see this once again do you think. Do you think there's a way we can explain to people that transparency would really quell a lot of the questions that people pop into their own heads because of what they see. Because they're not seeing everything. Do you think it would be helpful if people could say. I need to see it and be given that opportunity. I mean honestly what. We can't even believe we're having this conversation of whether or not Khalil should be able to see the footage of his father dying. I mean it is barbaric and inhumane. And i don't really care or give a crap with the law is it's disgusting and sunlight is the best disinfectant in life in general and again i don't i'm not a lawyer. I don't understand the law. But i just feel like if you have nothing to hide. Then why not the transparency and clearly a lot of pain understandably. I mean it's one of the more horrific things. I can imagine happening to a person and i just want this to like every i think every other normal american does and seeing the pain on his face. I don't understand how you can't recognize that. There's a serious problem in the country joy. I wish your thoughts on this in terms of how can we get social justice to reflect the needs of the people involved. It's a complicated conversation that people keep having. I was reading the other day an interesting article from a former police officer. I think who was saying that. We have a lot of footage of this crazy behavior of cops towards black americans and and maybe even against others i think they pulled a woman with dementia out of the car and give and he was saying that these clips and these these videos need to be shown to police departments around the country so that they can say to their their colleagues. This is what this policeman did. Now how would you have handled it because that is an incorrect way to handle it. What do you think about the way this went down in this video. And i think that that is an important thing to say you know. It reminds me of this whole conversation. We're having about covid with people refused to get the facts. They need to see what happens to people who get sick. These police officers need to see with their own. Is what's going on in this country with other police departments so that the good guys can bit act appropriately and correct their their colleagues who are not acting appropriately. It was a very sad very sad interview. We just had with that. That kelly l. That made my heartbreak. Yeah because you. You want to say to police officers. We understand what you're feeling. We're not negating that at some point you're going to have to stop making people suspect that you're doing something wrong because you won't show us what you think you did right and you've got to have you know you need civilians. You need offices you need actual people to come in and say this is not okay. Not comfortable this way. Let's talk about how to change what everyone at this. This virtual table has said today. We'll be right back. Welcome back we've been talking a lot about all the stuff we've discovered during the pandemic. Y'all but i have like a phantom mustache that.

"Lawyer our live with their view of why north carolina police officials won't release the full bodycam footage of his father's fatal encounter with officer. Welcome back a lot of people are looking forward to leaving their masks at hall but some women say there's been an upside because fewer catcalls fewer men telling them to smile more Has seemed to disappear. So is that an unintended benefit of all of these masks. We've been wearing joy. Well it also avoids that resting bitch face. You know so. I think that it has many many unintended consequences. That's just one of them. Okay megan is this a voiding. The bigger problem here look. I think we should train men not to catcalls societal problem with how men treat women and the sexualization of women. I don't want to continue wearing a mask. I've missed smiling at people. I am the queen of resting bitch. Face i've missed having not as well. And i just think that you know i we as a society. A social cues happened in your face. I think makes me really sad that there are women that have been made so uncomfortable by sexual aggressions from men i think. Can't we just start with teaching men how to behave like decent human beings possible. Sarah have noticed any difference when you're messed up in public. I don't know if. I think it would take a poncho to hide. What their cat calling. Because it clearly isn't my face. I tend to think that. I enjoy the mask for the fact that i don't like to wear makeup that much so i always feel a little more confident with the mask on and i also can can rest my smile a little bit but i also feel the need to to do the exact same reactions behind the mask. I'm just getting tired. I think it's taking a toll on my skin but I'm good i again. I think the cat calling is more of a body shot than a facial sunny. What about you how you feel about catcalls. They have dissipated. Have they been more what you thought. I don't go out much. There has been a pandemic have to contribute to this i. I'm kind of home with with my family. We've been quarantined for so long. I'm not sure what to say about that. I'm surprised there are so many people out and about There are so many men out there. Cat-calling women. I didn't know this was a thing. Actually i've never had to worry about it so there. We are but something we need to do. Today is mentioned that we lost to again huge legends in the comedy world this week charles. Grodin and paul mooney do i. Did you work with charles. I don't know why i think. Yeah you want with charles for some reason you did. i've had. I've had interactions with both of them and they were. Both malaria. said you had any many different ways pull pool. Money was a particularly edgy comic. He got up there and he basically said a lot of truthful things and was a very interesting guy and grodin was just a naturally funny guy. It's always painful when comedians die. I hope that when i go into the next world people be sad to see me go most people. Obviously you know. I worked with paul for forever on and off. He wrote on my show we he just there was no one. Funnier and truly right to the point. He was when people say this person gives. That's who they're talking about. This is a guy. He said what he saw an happy felt and he was funniest. Charles grodin my whole life. Just he was funny. It was just funny and that's the beauty of of great comics. They are just funny. We we will be right back. North.

"Does it cute smart dot com for more details. What is going on here. We go again yesterday. The district attorney says north carolina deputies. Who fatally shot. Andrew brown junior were justified and will not be criminally charged. The state bureau of investigation found that brown recklessly drove at the officers on the scene while trying to flee arrest district attorney andrew rumble said. Mr brown's death wild tragic was justified. Because mr brown's caused three deputies to reasonably believe it was necessary to use deadly force to protect themselves and others. His legal conclusion was labeled as an insult to the brown family. And the family attorneys benjamin crump and macari sellers issued a statement saying in part that the. Da tried to whitewash the killing. They executed him. No of of course is not unbelievable. Yeah it's am. I mean we take a step forward to george floyd case and then we get a reminder. Have the latest on that all the details from San Antonio First news National correspondent Rory O'Neil coming up, it's 7 40. Now back to the NBA, a in particular the San Antonio Spurs and the Western Conference and how playoffs will take place this season. It's always eight teams from the West eight teams from the East and that's going to be the case this year, but there's going to be I guess for lack of a better phrase a many play in a tournament. Two games maximum. The top six teams are automatically in the playoffs. Today, those six teams would be Utah Phoenix Clippers Nuggets, Lakers Mavericks. Then come teams 789 10. Portland is currently seven. Memphis is eight. Spurs are nine Golden state is 10. If you don't want the Spurs in the playoffs. What's scary is that the Spurs sitting at number nine are just two games back of Dallas and the six position which is guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. For argument's sake will take it just the way it stands today. Portland is seven Memphis SIS ate San Antonio is nine and Golden State is 10. If this were the end of the regular season. Seven seed Portland would play eight seed Memphis. The winner. Automatically gives the seven feed. And the team that would say that that's Portland. Okay, and the team that seeded number eight and loses Memphis would just move off to the side for the time being. Then number nine San Antonio spurs and number 10 Golden State warriors would play each other loser done. The winner of that game now would plate Memphis. Who lost the Portland And the winner gets the eight seed. Which is you know if you're if you're Portland or Memphis, and you finished seven and eight You're pissed you absolutely You now have to play an additional game. Possibly, too. If he lose that first one of your Memphis in or Portland, possibly two. Get in to a position that you were already in. In the past. You're already in the top eight. Yeah, I'd be pissed too, having to play an extra game. Uh, again. I'm for the San Antonio Spurs, playing as well as they can play without winning. Cause I want to get into the lottery. "Tensions between the us in russia or on the rise russia poisoned and then imprisoned alexei navalny allowed critic of president vladimir putin. There's also been attempted. Election interference and cyber espionage international correspondent. Kim helm guard has more essentially. The biden administration is talking and acting on various issues to do with russia. The trump administration decided. It wasn't interested in doing that. So we've been seeing a lot of concerted effort by the us to punish moscow for various transgressions. That's on the black sea another issue. That's been percolating background. Or there's been an allegation that rochelle for dante's taleban for attacks against us troops in afghanistan. The moscow strenuously denies this of course. And you know frankly. In some ways it's not too dissimilar to what the us did in afghanistan in the nineteen seventies and eighties when the soviets occupied it and may the partner with osama bin laden. So you've got to do that in context and then more broadly. The us is trying to punish russian. Various milan actions relate to human rights and opposition figures. In the most well known of those right now is a guy called election of all. Who's right who's in jail in russia. And he was jailed kind of under in curious circumstances essentially he was. He was poisoned in in august of this year on a- as he was flying on a domestic flight and you know he was gravely ill He ended up spending Full berlin recuperating. He was arrested on a previous kind of embezzlement charge that he claims his a politically motivated. So he's been in jail now in a roundabout way essentially for for being poisoned now. So there's a lot of different issues with connective tissue to us. National security issues. That have been the new administration watching closely and trying to rapids arms around. And that is why you know more or less the the us russia spaces has Bubbled up and you know the. Us foreign pulsed outshine. Broadly as i think rightly wrongly. Sometimes the over-egged this but they're gonna viewing this as a as attested by resolve so one of the reasons why you might argue that.
