"Rich eyes and show. Influencer. It's a word that gets tossed around a lot these days. There is a woman who went the distance, who broke ground as the first true influencer by living a remarkable life. Her name, Elizabeth Taylor. I'm Katy Perry, this is the story of the original influencer. This is Elizabeth I. Elizabeth I, the podcast, wherever you listen. Back here on the rich eisen show, Kirk Boris and filling in for rich and we go to the guest hotline. Joining us on the Mercedes Benz band's phone line is it's one of the more respected guys I think in the NFL circles. The former NFL executive, the host of the business of sports podcast and a contributor. Columnist, he is Andrew brand, you can follow him on Twitter at Andrew Brant, and Andrew, you've been NFL circles for a very, very long time. And I'm going to start with this. I believe you did cross with Jeff Saturday when he spent that one year, I believe in Green Bay. Help me if I'm wrong, but we were just talking about Jeff Saturday, the new head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. So obviously it's a situation where some people didn't like the higher as an interim coach with the guy with no prior experience in coaching in the National Football League or even college, but yet they go out, they end up as coach when a football game and he wins his first game as a head coach. What did you think about how that hire went down for the Indianapolis Colts Andrew? Yeah, good to be with you, Kirk. You know, I know Jeff well, but not from Green Bay, the time he came to Green Bay for the U one year, I believe, was after I had left. And I admired him as a player, obviously, but I got to know him at ESPN. I was there for many years. We crossed paths there. And one of the things I covered at ESPN was the collective Barney agreement, especially way back in 2011. When we had a lockout and we had no football, no training camps. I'm sorry. Yes, no mini camps, no training camp. As people remember just sort of all came together at the end, they didn't lose any games beyond the Hall of Fame game. But Jeff led the union. And that's her job. You know, that's 2000 players trying to build consensus trying to go into bargaining with people like Robert Kraft and Jerry Jones and trying to make games. That's a tough job and he was able to do that. I was not as harsh about the hiring as most people. I said, to me, head coaching is about two things. Leadership and communication. Yeah. Absolutely. And you can get people to do the X's and O's. You can get people to line up. You can get people to do the sort of grunt football terminologies stuff. And of course, he did that and managing an offensive line from the center position. But he has both. He has great leadership skills that we saw at the union. And he has great communication skills that I saw upfront at ESPN. And the one thing I saw from him that he didn't necessarily see from other former players I was working with the ASP is a real intellectual curiosity. Like I'm doing the cap and contract and free agency and all that kind of business talk. And he would like pull up a chair. Tell me about that. You know, I want to learn about that. So I thought there's a chance that this guy could be pretty successful. And the one thing I can't excuse, Kirk is the Rooney rule stuff, but the NFL has no Rooney rule for interim hires. So that's really on the league more so than the colt. And as far as passing up people that have worked yes, I get it. But it happens in all walks of life. People are brought in over people that have done the grunt work for years. It's not fair, but it happens. Absolutely. Andrew Brent, joining us here on the rich eisen show. And I'd say four and 6 looks a lot better than three and 7. And that's the Green Bay Packers record after their win over the Dallas Cowboys yesterday, Andrew. And is this the start of something with Aaron Rodgers now and finally wide receivers making plays, especially Christian Watson, The Rookie? Is this the start of something for the Green Bay Packers you think? Yeah, I mean, listen, my packer fandom is still there for my ten years there. It's hard to leave it. Unabashedly biased. I know Aaron, of course. He was there with me, mason Crosby. But I think there's a road ahead and you got to pass a lot of teams. So to me, the whole issue is you get in. And then once you get in anything can happen, the packers have proved that. They went to the Super Bowl and won it as a 6 seed, so they looks like they're competition is going to be like San Francisco because you have a bunch of teams that are going to make the playoffs. Of course, Philly, Minnesota, Dallas, New York Giants, Tampa, and then Seattle San Francisco. So you're going to have to get ahead of one of those teams and but they sure look good, you know, we mentioned Watson, a lot of flack for the packers trading devonta Adams, the packers picking this guy, and he obviously showed why they made that investment and this is the packer way, Kirk. I tell people all the time, especially if people are asking me if the trade deadline, why didn't it go for Brandon cooks or Chase claypool or whoever, and I'm like, you don't understand. If they got one of those guys, that would push down the development of Christian Watson and Romeo Dow. They're not going to do that. It's just the pack or way. It's just a packer wave. Former NFL executive Andrew Brandon is the host of the business of sports podcast and M QB columns as well. Joining the rich eisen show, Kirk Morrison here, fill it in for rich. You mentioned it though. I was just talking about the trade where devonte Adams obviously goes to the Raiders. He's got good production, catching touchdowns all that. But they haven't got the wins to sort of back up bringing in devonta Adams where I look at the other side, the Green Bay Packers, they're starting them possibly hit their stride, but Andrew, it is a process that's going through with these young wide receivers. Other guys who they already had been banged up and injured off and all Randall Cobb and Sammy Watkins, do you think if the packers could possibly do it over again, would they have traded devonta Adams or this is something that needed to happen? Yeah, I mean, I think there's a real backstory that we don't know, even someone like me that's involved with the packers so long. I don't know. I think all of our focus for the past two years was what's the relationship between Aaron Rodgers and the front office? When what we were missing was, what's the relationship between devonta Adams in the front office? Something wasn't right there. Right. And something was amiss because from my days at the packers, we always went after priority players in early contract extensions and they forever reason didn't do that with them. Maybe until it was too late until the Raiders offered something. So something went on there. And listen, the story of the off season to me, Kirk was these wide receivers hitting a new benchmark in pay. Right. Beyond anything we even thought of. 25 million a year. And now tyrese and Miami and AJ browns and Philly and devonte is in

"A little bit later, Rex hoggard, from the golf channel dot com, writer to talk to us about the decision made by the court around the live tour and access to the PGA Tour's FedEx playoffs and what that means. Also, there was discussion around cam Smith yesterday. Of course, British open winner. Declaring, well, not declaring, but rumors that he has already accepted and will move on to the live tour once the FedEx playoffs are over. So they'll be joining us here in the next hour. All right. Before we get to them, we just spoke with Mary Kay Cabot from the Cleveland plain dealer around the Cleveland Browns, big topic, of course, deshaun Watson and the appeal process over the last couple of days. We've been here on the show, but I thought it would be fun for all of us to dive in and take a bigger, bigger look at the AFC north, right? A very competitive division. And now that the likes of the Cincinnati Bengals have erupted into a Super Bowl contender a year ago, make this division arguably one of the most competitive out there. You could maybe argue up against the AFC west in terms of all four teams going into this season with a real possibility, right? The idea that Cleveland without their quarterback may put them in a disadvantage in a disadvantaged state in a place where they may not be able to compete, but I'm telling you right now. Lamar Jackson doesn't get hurt a year ago. The injuries to the running back position before the season started and then the absolute decimation of their defensive backfield late in the year. The ravens are right there. People have kind of just dismissed them this off season for whatever reason. Well, nobody's really talking about them because the whole Lamar contract thing has just been one giant shrug emoji. No one can really figure out why he hasn't signed or why negotiations aren't further down the road or money wise. It's just a big kind of like, I don't get it, but they are going to be back healthy, JK dobbins is back. He's not on the pup list. He's practicing. That dude's a monster. So monster. If they can figure out, you know, obviously they lost Hollywood Brown to the Cardinals, but if they can figure out who their number one outside threat, we know how great Mark Andrews is. I think they can figure out the outside threat than this team is going to be really, really good. And that tells me they had a ton of confidence in Bateman, right? The big wide receiver out of Minnesota, when they invested a first round draft pick on them. They have to feel that that's where they're going. I asked you this question a little while ago too. He can't. He can't play on this 5th year option contract, can he? I mean, if this is what he's looking for and he's betting on himself to play and not get injured after a year where he got injured to become an unrestricted free agent, he wouldn't be that, right? They could still tag him for the next two years. You're playing chicken with something where you could sign an extension where they've plainly said, we want to pay the guy. He's our future. John Harbaugh is just like, so we're ready. We're ready to sign him. Whatever he wants to sign. Is it just because of the offer been just been insulting maybe? I don't know. You know, TJ we've talked about this a lot, this off season with Lamar. But I think once deshaun Watson inked that 230 million guaranteed, I'm sure Lamar was just like, yet, yeah, that's the starting jump off spot. Yeah, yeah. We'll start at that. And then also hit probably waited on Kyler to get that contract. Now that really gave me the seans was a little bit like, all right, this is an ambitious. Kyler seemed to be more in line with, I guess the rich goes who's up next always in the trajectory of contracts. I'm not a contract guy. Ryan, none of us here are good at math. So I try to stay out of those things. Kyler got one 60 and change, whatever Garrett, you're in a number between that neighborhood for two guys who's never won a playoff game to Sean and Kyle as opposed to former MVP. MVP finally got his first playoff win a couple years ago and now it's like, okay, let's go. I mean, the guaranteed money better start with two zero zero. What are we waiting for? And that's where the market is. That's where I mean, I think owners are pissed. And I asked Andrew Brant about this issue. They're pissed at Jimmy hassle. Yeah. Right. Why would you do this? And not only do it and set that precedent, well, because what Andrew told us is because they were off the radar. They weren't going to get it. And then they said here, here's a blank check. Fill it in. We'll do it. It's amazing. Amazing that they're willing to weirdly like the NFL live tour. Deshawn literally just went there for the money. Right. Yeah. He got everything. He needed a big contract to settle all these suits. Right. Right? It's a big part of it. I was doing the math and speaking of not being good at math. I was doing the math. All of these settlements have been placed in NDAs. They're not going to know that. We're never going to know what it is. But I was kind of doing like if

"There. All right. Oh no. You should literally wear this before. He's got a pretty big head. It's right here. He's so mad. That is amazing. We will be using that picture. I told him to leave the hat here. All right, everybody. I'm Ryan leaf filling. You can call it. I'd love to get some calls into it 'cause we're gonna dig deep into NFL NFL training camps. I mean, the conversation, Andrew Brant is gonna join us today. He has been spot on with everything he's had to say around deshaun Watson, legal battle. I want to talk to more of him about the contract aspect of things because he did, he got the best contract ever, and he was coming into it with all these allegations. Who was his agent? Well, it's athlete's first is his agents. And the leverage, how did he have any leverage? I want to talk to Andrew about that because it's still dumbfounded. We talked about yogi Ross going to join us. He has a new book called 5 star quarterback. And he's been working with the lead 11 for years and years and years alongside his work with the PAC 12 network. And he's seen all these kids grow and grow and become stud quarterbacks in college football. So I think this book is pretty great. We'll have him on, as well as Lance, new head coach. Well, not new. He's been there for one year, but ked coach for the Kansas Jayhawks football team. I really, really believe in this guy. I had a chance to call a few of his games last year. I think this is a good opportunity for him to talk to the nation here. On a national radio show and TV show and talk about what his team is trying to accomplish because it's a battle at Kansas when you got the best basketball program in college basketball. Sitting there and on the football side of things you aren't able to really compete. Why do you take that job? How do you turn it around and make it something special? I think they got the right guy for the job there. He's going to join us a little bit later I talked about Andrew Brant joining us. And then Jay von Walton, right? Any of you for your fans out there. His character ashtray is probably one of the best characters on that show. And he just did a new movie with Sylvester Stallone called Samaritan that's coming out on Prime Video later this month and I got a chance to watch it last night at a little I like being the host of a show against sneak peeks of things. Right? And you were able to go on your Apple TV and download the app and watch it right on your TV. Like, bam. Yeah, get a little code. You have to watch slides Stallone running around as a superhero in it. I love it. That's your show today, all right? Excited to be here. It's been a crazy, crazy off season for me. You guys, of course, close to me know. My family and I are going to be moving to Connecticut. That's awesome. For work and it is really exciting yet daunting the moving truck came yesterday or on Sunday and loaded up about three quarters of the house and just that process. We'll get into this load. The moving process, the moving business is a giant scam. It's a giant scam. I don't think the moving company that worked with us on Sunday knew I was going to be hosting a national radio show this week. But they paced themselves. Alas. They pace them. This is where we're at, all right? We're moving to Connecticut. You might want to wait until your stuff gets delivered before we smirk. I wouldn't name them. As your attorney, I advise against naming them. Yeah, I did not want to or need to do that at this point. But let's just say it's kind of a grimy business. Let's just put it that way, right? There's brokers everywhere. Never mind, I don't want to get into it yet. Moving to Connecticut, right? We wanted a house for the kid to grow up in. Like I did growing up where I had a backyard, right? Not that we don't love Los Angeles. Of course. We don't have the wherewithal to put in ground pool like mister brockman here. Right. Baller baller. And he knows what he has and cage brockman. He knows he's got a golfer on his hand. It's going to make live type of money before we know it. Cage is already on the fielding offers. Baby live tour. So it's got a backyard. It's got a backyard. It's got a little half court basketball court and a little batting cage. So if the kid wants to play sports, it's if you looked at a house. This is a party house. I mean, let's be honest. Macgyver relief has no choice. He's already 6, 7. And four years old. He's already top ten rivals, basketball for the class of what, like 20, 38. Well, we're going to hold him back. He's right on that fringe, right? October 5th is his birthday. Should there be 17 your entire senior year or 18 about to be 19? And we're going to do, I think, the 18. I was 17 my entire senior year. Me too. And I think I was mature physically enough. Maybe not. I mean, I grew a ton when I got to college that first year, right? So we'll see. We'll see what that looks like. So these are huge parental decisions. You have to make, of course, is a parent. I think my mom just wanted me out the crib. She was like a 17 year old. I was the oldest of three boys. So she was kind of like, eh, you know, I got a few and 9 more years before the other ones out. He wants to stick around for one more year, maybe. So yeah, that's the big news in our family, right? But rich eisen fans out there. And the rich eyes and show fans. Let rich know, as I will, he rarely texted me back anymore because gallivanting around always on vacation around the world. But if you need me to host a show, I'll just fly back. It's not a big deal. You know? They work to LA is nonstop, 5 and a half hours. Yeah. Nothing. Be right here in the seat when he needs me. Or even though you're leaving, you don't want to give up your spot here. No. I'm the reliever, right? I'm the right hand. He goes to. So yeah, I want to continue to do that. They'll bend lions here gets a lot of play. What's up with that? I love me some Ben Lyons. He's like a summer reprieve. He's gonna be like summer vacation. Yeah, he's like the summer vacation vibes. Talk some talk some movies and movies will pop culture. He loves Kanye. I'm a lefty and a writing. That's true, Mike. You need to have both arms.

"Welcome to the MMP the NFL podcast. I'm Gary gremlin. And I'm Conroy. Connor, we're going to be joined by Andrew brand in just a minute here. And I think the main topic of conversation is going to be Kyler Murray and kind of two points here. He got his contract and you want to mind-blowing stat. He is going to make more money than you and I combined. Get out of here. Not kidding. What? And then of course he has the homework clause. This will get really interesting. It already has the contracts been signed for like less than a week and people are already upset about it. But with that, let's welcome in today's guest. This is Andrew Brant, maybe you know him from the business of sports NFL business podcast, maybe you know him as a professor at Villanova university, but really the only place you should know him from is the business of football column on the MNTB Andrew. Welcome to the show. Good to be with you, Connor and Gary, Gary, you and I, unless I'm missing something, are the last of the mohicans when Peter king put this band together in 2013, July. So it's now 9 years, believe it or not. Are we the last? Remaining survivors. Technically it's just you. I started in the early 2014. I replaced Tom man tyrannus on the editing team and you are the last original. Wow, so you came like 6 months later? Is that right? Yeah. Yeah. Oh wow. Yeah. So if anyone year one, year one, how I will take credit for that. So I'm claiming the most brand awareness possible for mmm um. Is me. I was truly original, you know, and everyone's left since Peter and Jenny and Robert and. Matt gagne. I mean, everybody's gone. Yeah. I mean, you are in the book of genesis. I show up pretty early. In there, but yeah, that's where we are now. And most of them, most of them are just in much better places. I don't know about that. But you know, when you guys are always looking for story ideas, one story should be, where are they now with the original mmm staff? Well, that's what I'm saying, they're all. They're all working and more prominent outlets. Robert, yeah. Emily Kaplan was an original. I like an intern, I believe. Caitlin Kayla, of course. Yeah. It's wild. It really has. It's been over 9 years. I'm just stuck with you. And so you know, I think people know me as this sort of this guy who's a professor in his own TV and radio a lot. But my real work when I get down on a topic is with you guys, is with the MM QB and sports illustrator because I do a newsletter and I tweet a lot and I talk and clips with TV and radio, but it's really nice to sort of dive in. When I can do this, did it a couple weeks ago on Lamar? Did it last this week on Kyler, have done a lot of columns where I just feel like there's a lot of in me about this topic. And appreciate you and Connor and everybody sort of let me pour it out every couple of weeks on the site. No, it's good, and we're making you do it on the podcast this week too, so it's even more appreciated. But we're going to have more on Lamar Jackson a little bit later in this show. And you're also going to play America's least favorite game show more than four fewer than 6 questions. But let's start it with Kyler. And let's start at the very basics of this. Which is the money because this is kind of, yeah, there was Derek Carr, but this was kind of the first major sort of top of the line quarterback contract since that Sean Watson fully guaranteed deal. And Kyler color got paid. But he didn't get fully guaranteed to pay. Yeah, I mean, everyone, as you guys know so well, every time you have a big deal, it's blasted out to the media in certain ways, usually from the agent. And this one sort of became okay, it's 230.5 million. Not 230 million, so instead of 46 a year, it's 46, one a year, making in the kingpin. Ousting deshaun Watson at the top of the rankings. But of course, you have to dig a little deeper. It's 7 years, not 5 years, because it's 5 extension years. So they could say 5 years with a straight face, but it's really a 7 year deal. He's under contract for 7 years. And then, of course, the guarantee level, and maybe I make more of this than most people because I just see the other sports that I look at baseball and basketball. When it's 5 years, it's really 5 years. When it's 7 years, it's really 7 years. Kyler Murray the way I look at it now is three years, a 105 million, and then you know my saying we'll see. Whereas deshaun Watson's the only contract that's not a will see contract. He'll get the 230 million. Now listen, having said that, let's be clear, this is a good deal. A 105 million over three is a good deal. Like a good quarterback deal. Top court for back deal. Because what we've seen lately is Derek Carr got about 99 over three, Josh Allen, 95 over three. And going back now years, Pat Mahomes, only 65 over three. So Murray is getting some really good cash flow and an expert like me, everyone asked me how do you judge a contract? One of the big things is through your cash flow because that's an important marker. Like everyone's going to play three years if they're a good player. So what are they getting over those three years? And a 105 is strong. So when we look at the money, I say good on Kyler and his agent for that one O 5 over three. Let's not oversell the guarantee because it's just like all these other deals. Kind of falls away after three years. And it's not 46 million, but hey, it's a good deal. I think Andrew the thing that sticks out to me and we saw Kyler answering a lot of questions about it today was this clause where he has to spend time making independent study. And to me, and I know that you've worked on the team side some eager to hear your opinion on this, but if you are the Cardinals, why you know this is going to get out in some way, shape, or form, perhaps you guys are the ones that wanted it out there, maybe even. I don't know. But this seems like a game of 3D chess they're trying to play that they're going to lose regardless. I mean, it seems like it offends the player. It's clearly something that Kyler is upset about. And is this the kind of thing where you're going to see the benefit of the independent study override the offense taken to putting it in there in the first place? Yeah, Conor, a lot to unpack here. I think we'll start with the getting it out there part. I wrote in our column this week that I'm pretty sure it was the Cardinals because obviously it's not going to be the player or the agent. It's embarrassing. But, you know, thinking more, maybe it's not the Cardinals, but because I'm looking at who asks us to the secure side on the NFL management council, it's every team. So if I was in my job at the packers, I could see this deal if I wanted to dig in and look at all the language. So it's probably could be a rival team, it could be a rival agent because the NFL PA agents can look at these deals once they're submitted. And it could be, you know, one of these media people that gets

"All right, thanks, Dan. Awesome stuff from Andrew brand. It's a great point. You know, the organizations have their belief. They're thinking on certain issues, right? What does Carolina thinking in terms of the skill set of Sam darnold and Baker Mayfield? We may all sit here and say, well, baker deserves to be the starter. He's better, but they may say, yeah, but Donald has more potential and knows this offense better and is more comfortable with the guys that we think we can win more games with him. Seattle may actually think that they can get something out of Geno Smith or drew lock that no one else got, right? The jets couldn't get it. Seattle couldn't get it earlier from Gino, as well as other organizations like the giant steady played for. He's had opportunities to be a starter, and he's never run with it because he's just not good enough. Drew lock, Denver thought it highly of them, but he never turned that corner from potential to actual results. Bottom line is, maybe they know something we don't, or there's an arrogance thinking they know more than we. The Baker Mayfield situation though in Cleveland. I did want to kind of delve into that just a little bit. It's a great point by Andrew Brant Dan Schwartzman on a Friday in for rich right here on the rich eisen show. Dance works with info rich eyes in the rich eyes and show on a Friday. Andrew Brant always good to chat with him. He brought up a good point at the end of the interview there. What the truth is with the Baker Mayfield, Cleveland relationship. That ended really badly. Bad blood. They didn't really hold back in terms of criticizing when Odell Beckham junior left there. There was seemingly bad blood between him and baker. Did he just kind of. Burn a lot of bridges. Over

"Tells a story that I can't mention on this program. It's disgusting. It's disgusting what is he being accused of is so vile and discussing that I can not mention here. And if it's true, the league must act and it's got to act considerably. I honestly, there's nothing that can. Remove this story from my brain now, and like I said, the only thing I can tell are our listeners is to go seek it out. This, I don't even, I don't even know how to describe it in a way for a radio audience that might have children in its out there, earmuffs. The accuser is saying that Watson had her went to her house for the massage and eventually wound up being fully naked. And now I guess no why rusty Hardin his attorney was talking about happy endings the other day and they're not necessarily being illegal. Maybe he saw this one coming. He saw the document or anything like that. All I know is that the massage therapist didn't expect it didn't want it and wasn't happy for her. And she quit the profession and called a friend apparently right afterwards. So this could be corroborated. Irene, the browns did not do their dude, again, I know it's a he said she said, if this is true, the browns clearly did not do their due diligence. And once again, know that this guy, I met him right after the draft, he couldn't have been more. Nice, couldn't have been more polite, couldn't have been more. Everything that you'd want in your child, everyone you'd want in your child's friend, anybody that you'd want in a face of your business. That's who Desean Watson was. As bright eyed and as on the straight and narrow as you'd want anybody that you'd be giving all this money into. I don't know that person reading this document. Vile is the only way to describe it. If true. And I don't know the way out of this. And if it's true, then he should be on the commissioner's exempt list, 5 minutes ago. And I don't know the way out of this thing. But it's not criminal. He's not getting any criminal charges. It's now 24 of them. 24 lawsuits. Mike florio joining us at the top of the next hour. 8 four four two O four rich numbered at all. Kevin Stefanski just was speaking, it looks like he's at a golf tournament or something like that. I'm seeing this from the terrific NFL network news desk, there's a mandatory mini camp next week. As a brown's golf tournament today, and he's just we're trying to be respectful of the process is what he said about the 24th lawsuit coming. He also mentioned that he wouldn't comment on Mayfield showing up Baker Mayfield showing up for mandatory mini camp next week if he's going to be excused or if he's expected the niners announced that they're excusing Jimmy Garoppolo from their mandatory. Take a news item. Come on. Dude, that's an hour three. Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. I mean, I do love it if people are going to be watching all three hours of the Rick Johnson short hearing. That's what I mean. But the browns really messed up. I'm sorry. The guy that you drafted number one what four years ago? 5 years ago and you gave all this money to a dude who we want to really believe in and believe. But one or two, you can overlook 24, like my God, I can't even sit here and try to come up with a way to defend this dude anymore, man. And they gave him a 180 million to 30. I'm just talking about the escrow. That whole thing is weird. I've never heard that before in two 30. They gave you 230 million guaranteed dollars. And as Andrew Brant points out, they gave him a contract where if he is suspended, it only only comes out of his 1 million of the 46 million. So they basically made him monetarily foolproof to a suspension. A year long suspension he loses a million only a million of the 46 million. That's it. Wow. So they basically said to him, hey, we got your back. If you've done this and to the point where the leagues needs to suspend you, feels compelled to suspend you. So you get to still keep your money, and then once that's all over, you'll be our quarterback. There's got to be part of the fan base that will never overlook any of this ever again. It doesn't matter how many touchdowns he scores. Well then again, that does kind of cure things. Honestly. Don't touch them. And you might sit here and say, why is this accuser coming forward now after all this time, apparently it was that real sports piece that aired the night that we were at the sports Emmys? She saw it and she's like, I gotta speak out. I haven't seen the report, but just, you know, just going by the way, you described it, and just like, I can't describe it. All I know is I read it during the commercial break after hanging up from Stephen a Smith and whatever. And it's disgusting. It's vile. It's just like behavior like that is sick, venal. Again, and I'm sure you were innocent until proven guilty, and it's not all the Chargers have been would never filed criminally against him, but civil these civil lawsuits. This is somebody saying that she accepted his business. And I know folks are saying, and I'll just say this too. Have you ever gone and gotten a massage and then you went to the masseuse house? No. You know, like that's weird. Nope. Normally the masseuse or Missouri comes to your spot or you go somewhere where it's a professional office. A whole thing is just so weird and wild, especially with a professional athlete, that's your profession to be. To have your body taken care of and you're going to put it in the care of 24 different people? Yeah, that's always been your thing from day one. Every professional athlete I know finds that one person that knows their body and they go to that person. And that's their person. For as long as that person's willing to have you or you have a person in each city that you go to. So you have that, but you specifically. That's it. There's like a person. You know, like, you know, like I've got a right hip issue. I got this, and that's, you know, and the story that this masseuse tells is similar to the ones that other ones. And his lawyer went on the radio last week and said the most disgusting thing to like basically like how many guys out there and you're listening audience have had a happy ending and a massage and it's not illegal. It's like what are you talking about? Like now so now you're saying that this stuff did happen? You're seeing this stuff did happen and it's normal and it's not illegal..

"You're putting sports talk radio gun that doesn't exist to our salary cap. This is what the people want to do. They like this stuff. Aaron Donald affects the game so many different ways. He's the one who takes the ball away from you. He's the one who stops the runner on the way to the quarterback. He's the one that makes other people better because he gets the double teams. Cup is still dependent on getting the football to him. So if I had to if I could only pay one, that's the one. But who figures this stuff out more than anybody else? No, I know, that's figured it out. Right? What's funny is you mentioned Alan Robinson, he's new to the rams this year. He's actually making a million and a half dollars more than you see. That's the end Donald. Yeah, these things will get rectified. Again, Andrew Brant longtime executive and man who knows the cap very well is going to be joining us shortly here. I'm imagining June 1, that's always a date that you keep hearing about that can free up cap, can free up this free up that they'll figure this thing out. I mean, they didn't bring in Bobby Wagner just to say we don't have the money for you, Aaron. Yeah, probably not. I can't imagine that. And Donald is back. I mean, couldn't you imagine they definitely had had to have some sort of preliminary conversations. With him. I think so. You would think so and cup cup knows money's coming his way too. Don't forget, honestly, it's got some extra money. If there's, I mean, that's the issue as he can't dive into that. Right. Not baseball. True. I forgot about that. Yeah, it's not baseball. Is that there is still that cap. But when it all comes down to it, I think that Donald will be paid and he will be happy and the rams will pay everyone and they're going to all be happy and it's now just comes time about who can win football games. And they've got a hell of a roster. So if he's concerned about all I want to do is win to win another Super Bowl. Check that box. He's on a team that can do that for time to come with a coach who's not going anywhere. In terms of the money, that box remains unchecked. I think they'll take it before week one kick-off against the bills. For over three decades, nobody has had a wrestling career like arn Anderson. Conrad Thompson gets.

"We've got option year next year, big number, but still an option year. And we got potential franchise tags. You think they're really going to roll the dice that Murray will not hold out or make a big stink of it that there's no way he's going to let colt McCoy take the first snap of the season. You really think that they're going to run that risk? The other part of the CBA is increased sanctions and penalties for any kind of holdout. So I don't think he's going to be as compliant as say Baker Mayfield was with the browns a year ago. He may make a stink, but again, I look at this kind of like the way of Donald. Why hasn't it been done? That's right. Yeah, what are we doing there? And if time says he's not going anywhere, of course, he's not going anywhere. They're not going to trade him. But are they going to make him play on that number? I mean, I think that's the question. Are the ravens going to make Lamar Jackson play on that number? Or is there something more going on without an agent and he hasn't wanted to do a deal? Because again, here's the problem with paying quarterbacks. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground right now. There's a rookie level, and then there's 35 million a year. Right? So what do you do? And I say this as a former executive. If you have someone that's clearly not in the Aaron Rodgers Tom Brady Russell Wilson category and you don't have a rookie deal, what do you do? Like Ryan Tannehill is going to be a cap casualty in a year, no question, because they paid him that level. There was no middle, right? So you're either paying a guy 8 million a year on a rookie deal or you're paying them 30 million a year and there doesn't seem to be anyone sort of taking the middle tier and if frankly, if I'm an agent, I don't take the middle tier either. Andrew Brant here on the rich eisen show business of sports podcast and so much more. So what's your best guess of what's happening with the browns and Mayfield currently right now? We may feel to all the other stuff. You can't parse them out, right? I mean, they're all together. Because the sense is, is that until the league finds out how many games they're assuming and Watson's going to miss, they're not going to cough up Mayfield under the idea that Mayfield could be forced to play and have no better choice than to be a fill in for as long as Watson is suspended only to cede the ground back to Watson, I don't know how Mayfield is going to handle that. I think it should be something he says no to personally. Or the market, they're waiting for someone to get hurt in training camp, like this thing is going to go into August as we're sitting here right now heading into June, which I haven't talked to you since the Watson deal. And I just have to say it again. It still sends me to this day. You know, I have followed this business for 30 years. I have been looking for that white whale that's going to get that fully guaranteed 5, 6 year deal. Never thought it would be this player. In part, due to his own misconduct. Think about that. In part, due to his own misconduct, he created the perfect storm, has a 5 year fully guaranteed, $230 million contract 46 a year more than any other quarterback. And protection against suspension. So suspension only forfeits salary, not bonus. So he's making 46 million this year, 45 of it is bonus, not subject to suspension. A million of it is salary. So I've just spent so say he's suspended 8 games, half the season. Out of 46 million Hulu's half a $1 million. He'll make 45.5. The Brown sold their soul for this player. Now, they've all the PR has been terrible. You know, you know what they want to say, what they want to say is, hey, never in a million years will a quarterback like this beyond the market. We did it. We went and got them. PR is terrible, sure. But by September, when he's thrown touchdowns or next September, it'll go away. I know that's what they're thinking. But they did something for this player that no one's ever done for any player. Contractually. And it's just amazing it happened with this guy. Okay, baker is due 18 million. This is going to have to be an NBA trade. In other words, NBA trades are about cap and expiring and money and shifting. So they're going to have to move him with another asset. Or pay some of the 18 million. In other words, you do a bonus save for $10 million. And then you move them for an 8 million salary. That's the only way I see this happening. If there are any suitors, I mean, we've maybe Carolina maybe Seattle, I don't know if they're even interested. So what do you do if they're not? Then you do a deshaun Watson Houston situation. You say baker? You just do your thing and we'll pay you. Shut up and don't play. Shut up and go away. He's not going to be the guy when Watson's suspended. That's Jacoby percent. So it's a no win situation for baker or the browns, but he'll get paid. Now he'll get that 18 million. It's just a question of how and where. Andrew Brent here on the rich eisen show and one of the many items that you're discussing at school in Villanova and on your pod and a good columns is the name image and likeness, I don't want to even know what the phrase wild west. That just burst into the most ugly spectacle around with Nick Saban, essentially saying Texas a and M bought their top recruiting class. And Jimbo Fisher firing back. The commissioner of the SEC in Greg sankey saying everybody hush up. Let's go back to our corners and figure out our own thing or what we can do, what can be done? What do you think can be done in order to reign in whatever needs to be reigned in? And then make it uniform enough that we don't see this public spectacle. I was in this chair a year ago, the Supreme Court just happened. Yes. Where they scolded the NCA for any kind of restrictions, then after two years of planning to regulate NIL, name image likeness, the NCA threw up their hands..

"Show. Well, it's not likeable about the Celtics. Get over this hump. Earlier on the show. Sports Illustrated senior writer Chris mannix. Warriors, radio analyst, Tom tolbert coming up. Columnist for the MM QB Andrew brand. And now it's rich ice. SRE, hour number three of the rich eisen show is on the air 8 four four two O four rich to have a conversation here on this program. We've already quite deep into the NBA Finals match up the Celtics and the warriors Tom tolbert who calls warriors games in San Francisco and the Bay Area was just on an hour number two Chris mannix of Sports Illustrated an hour number one if you missed any of it go to our YouTube page YouTube dot com slash Richards and show Chris brockman and Mike del two four are in their spots over there. Brockman's already got a nice cup of tea for our number three that rhymes. DJ Mikey D is in Dee's nuts is in his spot and TJ Jefferson is lit the candle over two hours ago. If you missed anything again, our YouTube page YouTube dot com slash Richards and show and then there is also our podcast as well. We've already had somebody here from Sports Illustrated now part two man who writes the who writes all about business in the MM QB in Sports Illustrated the executive director of the mored center at Villanova and his business of sports podcast is must listen to material Andrew Bryant back here in person. Good to see Andrew. Always great to be with you and come out to LA, see my son always enjoy coming in here. Terrific, good to have you here. So we just had a conversation in many people across the talk landscape today catching wind of what Aaron Donald told our friend Brandon Marshall on his IM athlete podcast that he's at peace with things. But it's not about money. However, there needs to be a business aspect that's comfortable for him and his family. How do you think less need handles that information? You know what I always say when someone says it's not about money, translation. It's all about money. You just talked about two contradictory parts of that statement on the podcast. Yes. It's not about money, but I got to take care of my family out of my business. He said that all in one sound ride as well. It's interesting because nothing's been done there. So that raises an eyebrow for me because this is a contract that has needed adjustment. And the rams have done that with Matthew Stafford with a couple others, and they're always sort of borrowing from the future on the cap. So they could actually reduce his cab by raising a bonus and spreading it out as you do with cap proration over future years. So they haven't done it yet. That's a question for me. Why haven't they done it yet? Do I think they will? It seems like it seems like they've taken care of as you mentioned Matthew Stafford. They brought in Alan Robinson. They brought in Bobby Wagner. Why not take care of Donald? The fact it hasn't been done, you know, you could always chalk it up to we're getting to it. We've been doing the other things. But that sort of makes me wonder why hasn't that been done? Has that been resistance from the Donald camp? We want to wait. We may retire. We don't know what's going on. Or is the team hesitant for some reason to get it done? Because this doesn't seem like it's a problem. If they wanted to get it done, you just add money, you figure it out, you get the new market, whatever the market has changed since Aaron did his contract a few years ago. I don't understand it. Well, could it be that they're working on cup first or how does that work? I mean, you can walk and chew gum, right? You can renegotiate two contracts at the same time. I mean, what is the mechanism? And also, I know I'm not supposed to ask multiple questions in one bite at the apple here, but I will just June 1st have anything to do with it. June 1st is again to clarify for your listeners. That's when you can release a player and have the cap impact shifted to 2023. Correct. You're pushing out the pain, which the rams do with a lot of things they do. They sort of credit card spend, push it out in the future, worry about that later. Yeah, it could be. It could be maybe they've got someone they're going to release. It doesn't come to mind who they would push off the roster that's making a lot of money right now, but that could come into it. And I think you bring up the other thing, which we have to address, cup is not someone that seems like he's going to make a deal. He's going to show rumbles of discontent. He's going to hold out. Stay away. But the fact is, the biggest story of this off season of me rich is not Russell Wilson in the quarterbacks. It is the transformation of the wide receiver market. Absolute transformation, where the top market was 18 to 20 million a year now. It's 23 to 25 a year for devonta for Tyree kill for AJ Brown, all these receivers changing the marketplace, you go back to cup, who is just way under that number. So here's another issue for the rams to have to deal with. And this is not just because they're Super Bowl champion. That hangover is always there. But they've got to address cup. If he makes a deal of it great, but even if they don't, you can't have a guy making 10 million under market to players like hill and Adams and Brown. So they've got to get that done. And they've got to get Donald figured out. But this one I found more curious because we know the market. We know they can do this. They know they've done it with other players, and he's talking about retirement, but he's saying it's business, let's watch and see what happens. Andrew Brant here on the rich eisen show and while we're wondering potentially why Donald is hitting June wondering about maybe a contract more commensurate with his abilities that he's an amazing that he's outperformed arguably a 6 year $135 million year. Why hasn't something been done yet with Kyler Murray in Arizona? What would those tea leaves? Because we had Steve kaimon and he's like, we're not trading them. And we'll take care of them. We'll get to it. We're going to get to it. But here we are and what's the weight about there? Remember the start of the off season. There was a missive from his agent, Eric burckhardt. I have my desk, because I've never seen anything so. There it is. And it was all over. It's a stationary as a reason why I have it here. It's very, very favorable. And the font and everything else. And I said on Twitter that time, the translation is show me the money. And I would have guessed if putting myself in my old agent shoes, my reaction, doing something like that would be, we approached them, they said, well, wait. They said, no, we're not doing anything. Maybe they said not this year, maybe they said not right now. We'll get into the summer. Whatever the reason. But here's the deal, rich. After three years, according to the CBA, you can extend players. You have to wait. So Kyler Murray played three years as a starter. Now he was the number one pick. So he's making 6, 7, 8 million a year, but that's 6 7 8 million a year while counterparts at his level who are veterans are making 25 to 30 a year. So the Cardinals have benefited immensely got an extraordinary value for three years. It's the best value in football. Having a rookie contract quarterback. The best value in football by far, the cowboys got it with dak Prescott, the Seahawks got it with Russell Wilson. The Chargers are getting with Justin Herbert, but after that three years, you got to make a decision. And the browns last year said to Baker Mayfield, no. We're going to wait. And it was fortuitous for them. I don't know what's going on with Lamar Jackson. And the cardinals are saying, I think they're saying, we're going to wait..

"Couldn't leave under the circumstances or just couldn't leave at all. Might have a little touch of the far from him. Who cares? Could be more fantastic. And now there's the other issue of who else? Where else? Well, Rogers is back in Green Bay. And devonte Adams says, according to my colleague, Ian rappaport, of the NFL media group. I'm not playing. As long as you just franchise tag me, as you know, we stay here all the time. I'll just remind you in case you're new here for some reason a, where you've been B, in the NFL media world, if a player wants the franchise tag is applied, that's one way to put it. It's applied. It can be applied. They place the franchise tag on somebody who doesn't mind it. Young kid up and comment figuring it out, your Kirk Cousins, you know you're about to make $200 million off of this franchise tagging that happens to you for the next ten years. We'll talk about that on the show. But if you don't like it, it slapped on you. Slapped, slapped on you, and it appears to have been slapped on Jamal Adams, who was like, okay. You know? I see what's going on around here. Aaron Rodgers is coming back. You ask, you ask AR 12 how he likes it if DA 17 is sitting out. Now then, we've seen the packers play this leverage game. Quite a bit. They played it with Aaron Rodgers quite a bit too. They're like, you're under contract. What are you going to just sit at home? You're going to retire. You're going to go to jeopardy. Guess what happened? He came around. Trust began to be formed, and then Aaron Rodgers had the leverage again. His cap number was insane. What are we going to do about it? You want me to stay here? I kind of love you guys a little bit more. Let's do it. Whatever the it is, we don't know. And that's what Andrew Brant said last week that the contract that's coming, they can't wait to read the terms. And if Aaron Rodgers is coming back for whatever he's coming back with and devonte Adams is only going to play for one year because that's the leverage. The packers are going to basically say, we have you under contract. You don't want to play. You don't want to play. I don't know what to tell you. What are you going to tell Aaron? We'll figure it out. Brian guta kun's life right now is no doubt. Intense. The Darius Smith just got cut because caps space needs to be created with whatever they're creating. There's some number sitting out there that they can pay devonte Adams long-term and figure it out and kick more cans down the road. That could be done. The question is, will they and how and when at what time? Because new league year opens up on Wednesday and to devonte Adams, all I'm going to say is this you go, man. Leverage. That's it. Everyone in the NFL in front offices understands one language and one language alone it's leverage. If they have it, they will exact it if they don't have it, they will seek it out and players know it. And if you've got the leverage, you swing that lead pipe, man. And go for it. Kirk Cousins had the leverage. He actually got a frigging raise. Are you kidding me? We'll talk about that again later on in the show. He had it, he swings it, he's amazing at it. Whatever leverage Brian however has over the Patriots, I don't know, it's incredible, it happened again. We'll talk about that later on. You have it you swing it. Atoms has it to the extent that Aaron Rodgers is coming back and you think he's coming back to not play with Devante Adams. Of course that was his level of expectation. When he agreed to just the hashtag year 18, what about your 19 year 20? It depends on what they do with Adams. If Adams plays on the tag, then what Andrew Brant said last week about this just being a one year deal with a ton of window dressing to formulate the cap space to keep this gang together for one more year and then turn things over to Jordan love, takes on a heck of a lot more credence, doesn't it? Adams deserves to be paid long term just like everyone else and he deserves it from this team and I don't blame him for wanting it. The question is, is how much does that leverage play against the fact that the collective bargaining agreement allows the packers to put the franchise tag slap it on him? This is going to be an interesting 24 to 48 hour period for Green Bay. And it doesn't have to all hammer out right now. This team has all the way through to the summer to figure out a long-term deal on Davante Adams, which would make for interesting. April practices when you come in for the opening of the practice schedule in the OTAs and things of that nature. Hey, where's devonte? We'll figure it out. We'll figure it out. Aaron might just give an Ariel AX or the old Aaron Rodgers. Well, this is not what I was agreed to, and I hope they figure this out. They better figure this out. I don't know what's coming, what thumb he's going to put on the scale, but that's what's going on in the packers world right now. And all I will counsel and say, it's not the end of the world. It is awkward. It definitely makes things more intense in that front office right now. They are going to have to make a ton of cuts to get under the cap. The Darius smith might be the first of many. But you swing that whatever leverage you got devonta Adams. Get your piece, get your.

It might have been close, but I think somebody. Was it sure? No, he voted against it. Wasn't anybody apparently on the Astros of the Yankees or cardinals? I don't blame the mets for not wanting to play baseball. Wow. Wow. Well, Steve Cohen just wants to be able to spend as much as he wants. I guess so. But we're back. We're back, pitchers and catchers reporting, and I went from, this is what fandom's about. I went from pox on their houses. To I sure hope Freddie Freeman wants to wear pinstripes in like 5 seconds. 5 seconds. 5 seconds. I just, it literally took 5 seconds to, okay, judge, what's the lineup? What are we going to have? Oh, that's right. Starting pitching might be a problem. Ten to 8. Back to that again. Oh, baby. Oh, baby. Oh, yes. April 7th opening day, free agency started like 5 minutes ago. I was hoping to maybe a few months off. So I could save some money on the MLB passage. You got to be back. And so you're back too. You're back. Red Sox stink or I don't care. Oh, we're good. I know you were, I know you should have. Good last year. I know that. But you know, I get it, we're good. I hear you. Dodgers won everybody under the sun. They want Freddy Freeman. Where's he going? Where's he going? That's great. This is great. We're back. Baseball's back. I was very surprised they're back. I think others who were cover the sport are a little bit surprised at their back. We try to get one guest on of note. He's done a little mini vacation with his family. They want to say who? And so we're back. The sport's back. And I can not wait for the season to begin. After having a pox on their houses and I'm just glad that apparently a 162 games is going to be played, they're going to make up whatever they've blown off through double headers that the 75th anniversary of Jackie Robinson, breaking the color barrier, will go off as planned, we now have 12 teams in the postseason apparently. There's lots to talk about on this front. And we'll do our best to try and figure some of this out for you. He played for the Chargers. I have some thoughts on that Fletcher Cox is apparently on the trading block Andrew Brant came here on this program made some waves when he said he thinks the Aaron Rodgers deal when the details come out will show it is essentially just a year to year commitment and maybe for just the one coming up this year. Lots to talk about on that front Joe banner, the former executive who shot for the groceries and ran the eagles, spent some time with the browns. He's going to join us in 5 minutes time to tell us what he thinks. And then because one Joe's not enough Joe linard, will join us in our number three. We call that quad three. Or trimester three, is that what it is? It's just a three hour show to trimester three interview. Let's go with quad. Trimester just remind you of what Santa was pregnancy in school. Semester. It's Leonardo season. Until what? Sunday, right? Then we just restart playing the basketball game. This season is really small. That's it. Yeah. It's kind of like the CPAs. But it's impactful. Okay, very good. And that's hour number three. We've got TJ's big S, grab bag. I want to take a look one more time at the quarterback carousel before it starts maybe spinning significantly based on the news of Wilson being traded. Roger staying whence being traded. Kind of crazy, man. So we'll hit on all that 8 four four two O four rich number to dial here on this busy Friday of the rich arson show. Don't go anywhere. We are back with Joe banner, telling us what's going on in his mind and giving you some insight on deals that are made and whether or not. That's next on the rich eisen show, but the Callaway rogue irons that should be in your golf bag is something I want to tell you about..

"Decisions were made this week and then there's Wentz too. So you remember a few weeks ago right after the Super Bowl, I gave you the 5 different categories of quarterback groupings going into the off season on the quarterback carousel the carousel lynchpin teams maybe in the market sure far back needy teams, no way we're cool. Right. And then sticking with the plan. Let's review them now that we're going into this is the way this is your snapshot going into the weekend before free agency. Starting with the carousel lynchpin, as we all know, Aaron Rodgers did not pull it. He's staying put. What does that mean for Jordan love? Well, we need to see the contract details. Maybe those come out later today and over the weekend. How many years will it keep Aaron Rodgers staying put and financially happy and then team wise roster was happy? And what does that mean for Jordan love's future? Is it year to year? As Andrew Brant says it may be, could it be a two year commitment as Joe banner proffers that it will be with other years that he could potentially fulfill? Because he didn't make it out this time. Like now would have been the time to go. That's the quarterback carousel linchpin. It's staying in there. So it didn't really spend crazy with Rogers going somewhere else. Teams may be in the market. We can remove two of them because they're definitely in the market now and the Seahawks and the colts. They use the ones who traded away the two quarterbacks that were traded away. We're keeping Arizona a question mark there for now. They were going in to the off season because it was the Monday of Super Bowl week that Kyler Murray scrubbed his Instagram account and then the day after the super bowls when he actually had a statement about it calling everything about it nonsense. And then the Texans are they in the quarterback market. They could just stick with Davis mills. The falcons, could they possibly be in the market maybe even drafting one? The Lions, we don't know what's going on with Jared Goff, the eagles, I think they're just going to stay put with Jalen hurts, guys. I think you're right. But we've put them there and then you've got the Vikings there as well. There's a maybe ish. The surefire quarterback needy teams, we are now removing the Broncos from that list. And we're removing the Washington commanders from that list because they might be on the maybe in the market list. Next year, but it's once now and the surefire quarterback needy teams, we have now added the Seahawks and the colts to it. And the Buccaneers saints Panthers and steelers remain. What are the Panthers going to do? I don't think they're taking one with their first selection in the first round. I think they're going to go offensive line and then they're going to figure out maybe they make a move next week that will shock us that might be a surprise to us. They'll go darnold maybe for one more year. Or one of those teams in the Watson kind of rumor. Can they can trubisky go back to his college? Pound? I don't know. College state. I don't know what they're going to do. They're kind of a mystery right there. No way we're good for a while. You can now add the Denver Broncos to that list, and we have chiefs, chargers, Bengals, bills, cowboys, rams, patriots, ravens Jaguars are on it. We added the Broncos and then we put a question mark on the Vegas raiders. What is going on? With Derek Carr. Where's his contract extension? I guess you got to assume that it's going to be Don.

"And I think there's still sorting through the then why part of the equation. I mean, short of the Texans being willing to trade deshaun Watson in the division, which I don't think they will, what else is there for you out there? I'm not sure. And again, like Chris Ballard's good at this and maybe he's got a rabbit. He's getting ready to pull out of his hat. But I do think they're going to have to look at this creatively because obviously right now they don't have a whole lot of the position. Right. And certainly not enough to get walks and you could even make the case that if Watson does become viable in any way, shape or form that Seattle, what it just got from Denver might not even be enough for Watson. And you could basically say that what you just saw for Wilson would be somewhere in that neighborhood of what it would take to get Derek Carr, right? I mean, don't you think? Yeah, I mean, even take it to once, rich, I mean, I thought when we started hearing about Wentz, I honestly thought like a month ago, like is this going to be like a Brock hospital or salary dump? You know what I mean? I just didn't think that I didn't think the call to be able to find somebody to take on the money. Forget the rest of it. You know what I mean? And so the fact that once brought that home, I mean, John lynch has to feel pretty good about where he's at with Jimmy Garoppolo. You know what I mean? Like, even though Garoppolo is acropolis is coming back from shoulder surgery. And then if Derek Carr is worth a one and a three or something like that, like would that get the Raiders to think about it. And again, what was that idea of a swap, like all right, like we'll send car off and then we'll bring in Jimmy Garoppolo with that appeal to him. And I don't know that it would, because I do think that Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziggler, I think they're being sincere when they say they really like Derek Carr. It was really important for Josh to get off to the right foot. Get that, get that relationship off to the right foot with Eric Carr after what happened when he started in Denver. But if you're thinking creatively about this, that's the way you just have to start thinking if you're Chris Ballard, you know, because there isn't an easy answer out there. Again, short of maybe the Texans being willing to trade them in the division. And even if the Texans were willing to do that, you don't have a first round pick to deal with them. So I think it's a tricky spot. For the calls to be in without question. And I'll tell you this, rich. That goes to Andrew Luck seems to be continuing to haunt Indianapolis. And I've got Albert breer here on the rich eisen show. We had Andrew Brant on in our number one colleague of yours. And he's like, I need to see the contract before I believe Aaron Rodgers is attached at the packers hip for the rest of his career that this might just be essentially a cap clearing solution to him running it back one more time with Davante Adams for him to get to his walk if you will. Year that he negotiated to come back last year, what do you think? Well, I mean, the one thing I had was that there were and I know there was the idea out there. This would be a four year deal. I heard it was four new years. And that's interesting to me because if it's four new years, that means it's a 5 year deal. Essentially. And that number is the magic number. 5 years is the max that you can spread that bonus month out over, right? So that's being done for a reason. And a lot of times those 5 year deals will have phony years in the back end. So when I heard that it wasn't just, it wasn't a four year deal as a four year extension, like that popped in my head, okay. Like, are there full Tony years in the back end that are designed to spread the cap hit out? I think it's Aaron's intention to finish his career in Green Bay. I don't have any reason to think otherwise. I think he's got an appreciation for the guys he plays with. And all the rest of it. Like I think this is a big, I mean, to me, this is happening because of Aaron Rodgers relationships because he felt as strongly as about the people in that locker room as he has at any point in his career, he fixed his relationships with good news to barfi and his relationship has always been good with la four. But like if there are those phony years in the back of his deal, then yeah, you would have to think about it. And hey, if I'm the packers, here's the other part of it. Like Tampa did that with a bunch of contracts to create two year window with Tom Brady. Wouldn't you say they would say it was worth it now? Even if they have to tear it down, they want a championship. So like if this means creating a two or a three year window with Aaron Rodgers and maybe he walks after that, like if I'm the packers, that's 100% worth it to go and chase another championship when you haven't won one and what is it 12 years now? It's been 12 years since they won that first one with Aaron Rodgers. Wow. So you think we're back in the story of the new league year of 2023 is going to be where Rogers free agency turtles. I'm not saying that. I don't think so. No, I mean, again, I have no, I have no, I've heard nowhere that this is like the precursor to Rogers saying goodbye again. But I mean, you can look at the roster. You know what I mean? Like and say, like, yeah, like this is a very real two year window. You can look at David back to his age. Devonte Adams age. You look at like how that's a really great football situation now, but two, three years down the line that might look a little bit different based on how some of these contracts are built. And by the way, here's the other thing. I mean, these guys can always force their way out. I mean, that's one thing that we're learning now, right? Like Russell Wilson didn't really have to do anything. Like, he could just sit on his hands and let it happen..

David Josh Eric Carr Derek Carr Garoppolo Chris Ballard Jimmy Garoppolo 5 year Watson Tom Brady 100% Andrew Brant Dave Ziggler Aaron two Andrew Luck 12 years Aaron Rodgers Denver last year

"Are the rich eyes and show is on the air and we come on the air with Chris proper walking on it. Let's go. Chris brockman Syracuse orange graduate. Who started this program saying, we've got no shot against duke and Jim beheim should retire. You will save that. That's how he started the show. Smash cut to our two. And Syracuse just hit a three at the buzzer to take a four point lead into the locker room over duke. Yeah. In the ACC tournament. Oh baby. Is it possible? That Syracuse could somehow some way hand duke a two game losing streak going into the NCAA tournament. Cameron indoor, all quiet and crying. As coach Kay. Talks about how unacceptable. It was to lose with everybody there. Celebrating him. Barclays. 6 graduates. We play well. Conference tournament. It's just what we do this time of year. I'm back. It's march. I'm back. Duke's winning this game. You want to take that bet, you want to go double or nothing, Kenny Pickett? Nah, because I really won that bit, so why would I double it? It's already done. You're just guaranteed a 10.1. Well, I'm just saying, why would I that's like taking points off the board? I've already won that bet. Well, John Harbaugh does it all the time. I'm not sure. That's already done deal. That bit's already won. It's in a can. Why would I pull it out of the can to risk losing it? That makes no sense. Or you could just do a separate one. That's not what his offer was. He has an offer day. I will do a separate. Come on, let's go. Come on, come on. Brock was one of those people. That doesn't lay something on top of it. It's just not worth watching. I brought one of bet on the direction the wind's blowing. Southeast. Let's go. Wow. Oh, baby. Look at this. We're back. How about that? Why are we going to have time? Let's just keep playing. We got the momentum. Look at that, brother. Net, wow. That is amazing. So that's how we come on the air, our number two. I don't know one we had Andrew Brant on the program. From the MMP former packers executive, he was there shepherding the Rogers out era and his take was he needs to see this new contract extension for Aaron Rodgers to believe that the packers and he are attached at the hip for the rest of Rogers career. That this could just be the salary cap relief needed to run it back one more time. Rogers, I guess, sitting here and saying, I'm not going to force the trade or it's too difficult to force the trade, the packers may have wanted more from green from Denver than Denver gave to Seattle that have nothing to do with it. But the bottom line is Rogers is staying Andrew Brant says he needs to see the contract to believe that this is the long-term relationship career finisher. He thinks this is just the end of whatever deal these two teams struck verbally last year and also he needs to see if the out after the 2022 season that Rogers got with his hold out, not really holding out last year is still in the contract because if it is and he sees the guaranteed money laid out a certain way, this could just be a one year run it back and that's why they're just franchise tagging Devante Adams at the moment. You could knock us over with a feather when we heard that. Then there's the issue of the colts being in the quarterback market now and Seattle being in the drew lock business now and what are the long-term plans short term plans at quarterback for those two teams and why did the colts relationship with winc fall completely apart so damn fast? Albuquerque will be joining us on that front. And then there's the Matt Ryan situation in Atlanta where he's got a cap hit of 48 million and if they trade him or cut him or whatever, it's a cap hit of 40 million and they might as well just keep him. And that's the way their quarterback situation is? That's the way they're going to go into the draft 8th overall and run it back that way? He would look good though and Indy. What is Indy's plan? So much to happen on that front. Let's go to Andrew in Washington state. You're here on the rich eisen show. What's up, Andrew? Hey, rich, long time no talk. Thanks for taking my call. What's going on? Oh, nothing much. Real quick, I did have a question that you were just talking about before I hit that. Brockman, don't get too sassy on Syracuse. Duke was down at half. I mean, up at half at UNC. So now that they're down in half, they're going to turn that around and they're going to beat Syracuse by 14. So I'm a big duke blue devil fan. Mike chefs he's not going to allow an old friend to beat him. All right, Andrew's side bet. All right, so my two QB questions for you, rich. I got two of them. So I want to let me just hit. So what's the possibility of Jimmy G being the next Indianapolis Colts quarterback? You got Jonathan Taylor there? You've got all you got to do is plug and play with a quarterback. I can just at least kind of get the job done. Well, I don't know, to be honest with you, would you trade for Jimmy Garoppolo fresh off of shoulder surgery? You have no idea if it's going to stick or not. You could hear all about from a doctor and you could read all the x-rays. You could get all the medical. You could do all of that. Would you do that right now? If you're the cult? I would. You know, especially by getting those ticks. And Kyle Shanahan would love some picks. I think he does pretty good in the draft. I don't think you're going to get too many pics. You're not going to get you're certainly not going to replenish what you gave up for Lance. That's for sure. You're not going to get that. I mean, you're going to get some. I don't know how viable an option that is for Indianapolis. They apparently like Sam ellinger very much. So I don't know if they're going to go run it back with him. You hear the name Gardner minshew? Do they go Jameis Winston? Do they throw money at trubisky? I don't know. That's a big question mark right now. All right, all I know is that getting Jimmy Garoppolo who definitely has, as you know, the ability to throw outside the hashes and the numbers, he's got he's dicey throwing it over the middle..
