"North is a wild division, right? The Bengals went from worst first, won their first division title since 2015. It was Joe burrowing. Oh. Is that dude? All four teams have been the playoffs in the last two seasons. Like the browns, who went last year to the playoffs. And this year, find themselves likely finishing less, so what does that mean for Baker Mayfield who won't play week 18 and will have shoulder surgery this off season? Here's Aaron goldhammer from ESPN 8 50 Cleveland on baker's future. Well, I think baker has played his last game as a brown. So I don't even think this is about competition. I think that he's just toast. In part because I think the browns are ready to move on and in part because I think he wants a change of scenery, which I think you'll see that take place here. Over the course of the next couple of weeks. So then the browns have to come up with a better answer. And my guess is guys, it'll come from one or two places. Now, the draft thing is really dicey this year. The browns could end up with a top ten pick, but there are no top ten quarterbacks in this draft, I don't think. And I think what's most likely is there's a second tier of guys that come available in the Derek Carr Matt Ryan conversation. And I would bet on one of those guys being the starting quarterback of the browns next year. So there you have it. Conversation about baker's future has begun. And already key, here's someone saying, yeah, he ain't going to play for the browns again. Where are you on baker and the brown's future quarterback? And just this division going forward? Well, certainly feels that way. It's about $19 million of future money in 2022 that's due to him because of picking up his 5th year option. So one, you have to figure out what you're going to do with that money to get off the books, whether you trade him, keeping him around, rehabbing whatever because when he got a torn labrum on your left shoulder, some of that may have factored into the way he played down and stretching in. As far as a future quarterback goes, the one thing that Aaron goldhammer is certainly right about is that there are no as of right now. There are no future Hall of Fame quarterbacks, so to speak, franchise guys that are entering in this year's draft. There's going to always be a cast of characters out there in terms of names that are thrown out. Matt Ryan Carr, do you make a run at the Aaron Rodgers if he becomes available? What about Desean situation? And Russell Wilson, can you convince him all of those sorts of things will be out there, but I think you've probably seen the last of Baker Mayfield at the quarterback spot. I kind of sense that. I just, you know, when you think about how Andrew berry thinks and he's definitely an analytical mind. And you see, okay, what's my ceiling with Baker Mayfield? I think everybody has come to the conclusion, including himself that this is, we can't get over this hump with baker. Love baker and his toughness, love that grit that he brings to my team. But we need another level to this. Or somebody who's more ready in big moments to help our team get over the hump. And I know there might be some issues contract wise. But when I look at familiarity and I look at fit, I don't understand why people don't start talking more about Kirk Cousins being that guy for them. Now I know you guys are high on Kirk Cousins. Because you already have Baker Mayfield. You're gonna get another Baker Mayfield. You're gonna get another minute passes. But think about the success. The success that Kevin Stefanski had with Kirk Cousins when they were both in Minnesota together. So there was familiarity and then think about this team is ready to win now. So when people start saying, hey, let's go back and draft a quarterback. Do you want to go through all that when you got Nick Chubb when you got Kareem hunt? You got all these guys who were built, there is talent for this team to win now. But keywords. I agree. I hear what you're saying on the Kirk Cousins tip. I mean, I don't love it, but that's what I do. You know? That's what you want to do and you want to pay a guy $40 million to do that. Then go ahead and do it. To me, why pick is Kirk Cousins really better than Baker Mayfield? Yes. Yes. I don't think he is. I think baker's banged up all year. No, I think he did it. He's better than him. Okay, you guys could take her cousins. I'll take a healthy baker. Now, you might say one of the reasons baker is not healthy is because he's not big enough maybe he's not big enough given the fact that he's not that fast to play in the NFL healthy for very long. Maybe that's legit. But baker at his best is mid pack. Yeah, baker, he's just a guy, man with a Jersey on. You think Kirk is better than that? For this particular team, if you were to, if you were to swap these two out, this team would be better off with Kirk Cousins than Baker Mayfield. 30 touchdowns, 7 interceptions thrown for close to 4000 yards, 66.4 completion break. Kirk, you tell me. Yes. And he has a better defense. I mean, I think it would be a better situation I looked. Would I rather have car in that Ryan? Then Kirk Cousins? Yes. Yes. Yeah. So, you know, if there's a fall back there that Kirk Cousins is all of a sudden available at a number that makes sense. Then maybe you look at it because you think he could give you what you looking for in certain situations. And you have some familiarity with the system and understanding. So maybe that's something that you do? Yet one of the things that is a problem. And I know that they drafted bakery, not just 'cause he had moxie, but because, you know, he was completing a very high percentage of his passes, all the analytics did like him, in fact. But one of the problems with also attaching that, he has that something that intangible and big moments is that a lot of times if that's what you're leaning on, it means to do is just not good enough. And Dominique foxworth tweeted that Joe burrow is who the browns thought baker was going to be. Swaggy underdog college transfer turned number one pick who can elevate a franchise. So hold on a second. Yeah. Yeah, I'm lost. Yeah, because I'm not a football expert like you. Watching both. I never was like, oh yeah, Baker Mayfield is very similar to Joe burrow. I thought Joe burrow was just different coming out of college. I got to ask Nick, how did the browns think that Joe burrow, the baker was going to be Joe burrow when baker was in before Joe Biden? No, he's not, he's saying that the browns are he was hoping. What Joe burrow has done for the Bengals, that's what the browns were hoping. Baker would be for them, not that they had previous knowledge of what Joe burrow was going to be. But the way it played out for the Bengals was the scenario. Beforehand, that the browns were dreaming of. This quarterback with that special something, you know, can come about it. Yeah, but that was never that was never the case in college, though. Baker Mayfield was a good college quarterback. I'll say it a thousand times and I like Baker Mayfield. He was a good college quarterback. In a good situation. Okay. He beat Ohio State in Ohio and it took you to another level. It made everybody believe that this guy was something different. He would not have been the number one overall peak if it wasn't for John Dorsey, the former general manager. If Kevin Stefanski and Andrew berry was picking at that time, although Andrew berry was in building, if

"Season. I know that our NFL insider Albert breer had said it would be a good look for Baker Mayfield to go to The Bahamas with deshaun Watson who is taking the offense out there and basically to show up to just be a good soldier and to make this work. I think that that is a sober way of looking at it. I'm also the kind of person who if Sports Illustrated brought in a wildly controversial NFL columnist to replace me and then told me that I needed to stay and do the weekend. I got the 1 o'clock jets Panthers game and that's the only game I'm allowed to write then I'd probably just turn into a two letter column and they're two word column and I think you guys know what it would say. And thank you. Love these jets. But you can't expect Baker Mayfield to do it. I think that there are teams out there who would like to see some fire out of him and I don't you can't expect him to start meaningful games for you this year. You can't. There's a 0% chance you can expect him to go out there and do it. Did you ever see there's a really bad there was the movie chef that came out, right? And there was like that period of time where there were really, there was a bunch of really hot chef movies coming out. Did you ever see chef? No. Okay. I don't know. They were hot chef movies coming out? Yeah, so it was like 2014, 2015, Jon Favreau did chef. It did really well. And then there was a, there was a retort from a different studio starring Bradley Cooper. There's Bradley Cooper chef movies. Oh yeah, okay. Called burnt. And so I think like at the end, the end, the food reviewer that's gonna make or break them comes to the restaurant. And he sends back the dish and they're like, what's going on? And it was the sous chef all along. He's like, I just dumped a whole thing of paprika in there. Middle fingers and then just runs out of the kitchen. So the worst, it was hilarious. And it was supposed to be really serious, but I couldn't stop laughing. That's what that's what I would do if I was baker bayfield. I'd just be like, I would take a snap that I just start like just start making airplane noises and just running around the field in circles until they had to yank me off the field. And he would still get another job after that. I would still pay him to play. If I were the Steelers, I'd be like, I'll still sign him. I will still sign him tomorrow. I bet a lot of teams would too. So that's what I would do. 7 consecutive Statue of Liberty plays. Let's do a faker. The other development here with the browns, deshaun Watson, of course, is their presumed starter whenever he is going to be eligible to play on Tuesday, there will be an interview on HBO real sports solely that O'Brien will be talking to several of the women who are sharing their accounts of sexual misconduct against Sean Watson. Again, I'm gonna sound so bitter here. We've covered this a lot on Sports Illustrated when Jenny rented was still here. Basically all our reporting from 2021 answers every question that's still being thrown out about this and about why deshaun Watson was perhaps still being looked at very, very skeptically and rightfully so even in the wake of two grand juries that were curiously called to sort of weigh what would have been misdemeanor chargers in Texas. But once this is out on video from a national outlet that is obviously of great repute at this point, that is going to have an effect on this. I don't know what specifically what's going to be in that interview. I know what our reporting turned up. I assume it's going to be similar. And to have that in video form, as we know, is going to, it's going to be significant. I agree, Gary. I think that, again, I would encourage everybody to go back and to read the reporting that you and Jenny had done on Deshawn. I think it lays it out there. The difference, unfortunately, in our society, it's changed to a little bit more of a visual medium. And we've seen the commissioner come down exceptionally hard on issues that have a video component to them. Those players seem to actually have to go through more of the process of rehabilitation and contrition. And all that sort of stuff. As opposed to the players who weren't caught on video doing something and I think to put a face to the accusers beyond what we did at sports illustrator, but you guys did it Sports Illustrated, which I think again, I would encourage everybody to go back and read that because it's significant. I think the more that that happens, the more painted into a corner, the browns are on this. And two questions are, are you just, if you're the browns planning on all of us forgetting or not caring after a while? Is that essentially the core of the plan? Do you think? Yes, I mean, look, I think you could, you could look at Ben Roethlisberger. It's not apples to apples here, but that, you know, that faded away after a couple of years. In 5 years, how will we feel about this? And look, deshaun Watson is probably going to play in the NFL for 12 years, minimum, maybe more. If he stays healthy, so I think that's their calculus on this. But, you know, again, the most absurd part of the visuals to this point was Andrew berry, you know, sort of giving the indirect we trust the player or we believe in the player quote at the introductory press conference. But him and Stefanski sitting to the sides of deshaun Watson as he claimed not only was he legally not guilty in Texas, which is not accurate either, but not indicted in Texas. But that he had never disrespected a woman. I mean, that's that's not reality. That's not what's going on in this planet right now. That's not what's going on in this timeline in the multiverse. To have the two of them sitting next to him as he said that repeatedly is it's stunning. It still blows me away. When I go back and I watch that, which I still do sometimes. If and we'll move on right after this. So I have one more question for you about this. If this doesn't work out, let's say he plays and he's not spectacular, which unfortunately is going to be the determining factor in how this entire thing works out. What happens? Like that would be beyond their worst nightmare, right? I mean, I don't really have a very good answer for you. It's where it gets really interesting because I don't know who else would.

"The one or two pieces that that can get them to be at mahomes which is to get pressure on them and then and then get lucky and have have josh allen Deliver for me. It was interesting to me. I had shook a on the podcast. And said how do you beat the chiefs and he said. I think everyone's looking at it wrong. I think you you improve the offense because you have to outscore them. You're not going to beat the chiefs thirteen detect. You're going to beat them. Forty five to forty. And i think there's too much he thinks too much emphasis put on on the defense when really it should be. You're trying to induce. Shoot out and hope you can win and make a couple of plays modern defense just is just doing enough nick. Saban a couple of years ago said good. Good offense beats good defense. That was never true before it's true. Now nick sabin has given up on good defense. He knows what modern defense is and so the browns are a little bit different. I think that they're not looking at the ravens or the steelers or the bills or the chiefs and saying we have to specifically beat these teams andrew buries a little more pragmatic. I would say. I'm spending time with him. A couple of weeks ago Really impressed with him. But i think that they're they're more. I know this is a dirty word. They're more process oriented in cleveland. They're not they're not always on this season or anything like that. You spend a lotta time with edgy. Bury the gm of the browns new piece up. It just came out this week. He's the youngest. He's from harvard. Everybody kind of knew that you made a great cop. You're like this is like trevor lawrence offices I hit the baker extension What they're expect with odell what they think. They have defensively because this team if they're coming out of the afc. Is that a surprise to you right now. Which i that's what happens. It's not surprised But i think that there's a there's three tiers of for me of afc contenders. And i think it's i guess you could say four but chiefs her alone bills and ravens are on my second tier browns roll my third tier and then there's like disapprove. Know the titans and those sort of teams the colts. I guess you could say And i don't really consider that for seer serious but no. I wouldn't be surprised. It would just take a leap from baker. That i don't think he's necessarily capable of of those four teams. He's the worst quarterback that doesn't mean he's bad it just means. He's not as good as josh allen. Lamar jackson kutcher boats. That's fine I ain't the extension. There is one of the most important decisions any player any any any. Gm has to make a nice couple years. The browns have one sort of on the horizon. Problem number one is that they lead the nfl in the amount of over the cap calls high salaries. That's guys make between eight and sixty million dollars a year and then they have a bunch of young talent at the rents are gonna have to sign severity. Got nick trump in the fold Baker mayfield has his fifth year extension fifth year option next year and then eased do for an extension or maybe a franchise tag or whatever But they've got to figure that out but part of the the kind of the run off of the quote unquote process is actually a lot of really good young players. And it's gonna get expensive to keep all those guys. But i think barry understands it. I just think that i've never really been around. The one thing i'll say ryan is andrew berry graduated college a year before me And i think that in a lot of cases when a guy has a lot of success and he's thirty three years old thirty four years old. There's a lot of animosity around league or any industry any industry and everybody in the nfl is like none of this. This guy's for real like this guy deserves it. There is no animosity comes to pass joked about how it was annoying. How young. he wasn't pretty much. Everybody else i talked to was just like now like we. If this guy didn't deserve it would be pissed off. Like what the hell is this. Like wise is harvard guy. Getting this job nano like everybody understands guys gypsy nam. And he's he's in the he's in command of a pretty good situation. The way quarterback contracts usually work as whoever's the most recent get the extension out gains the other guys We saw that with alan after the dak deal. What happens with baker. he's not gonna. I don't i don't think he's going to get that. I think he's going to get a little bit less. And he's going to get a little bit less. And i don't think we're ever going to get to the quote unquote middle class quarterback like we did a couple of years ago. If you remember when ryan fitzpatrick scientists bandaid deal. He was like the only quarterback making between eight and twenty million dollars. I think that's what it was and that used to be. There used to be this huge gap. And now it's going to like from like eight to like thirty and we're gonna get there eventually because the way. The cap is rising. But i think the mahomes thing set a limit on kind of kind of put a ceiling on quarterback pay a little bit for the next couple of years. Because we know. I by the way. I ain't them home deal already bargain already bark when you just look at it and and how and how the nextwave extensions are gonna go and when you dirty look when you dig into what it could be with. Tv ouni which means they're probably gonna redo it any way. Yes i know. The headline of that number is astonishing but it it isn't. There's a way he could play this out. I mean that's why the dax dr welby crazies. I brought up at the top. Like dacha kept betting on himself. He wasn't he was he was being offered big money like now. I'm just gonna wait thing. Wait this thing out so Homes headlines of big one. But i completely agree with you that if you look at it and the way it's structured You know he could. He could have been more difficult about it if he wanted to be. A hundred percent a hundred percent so baker to me. You're looking at maybe maybe thirty four thirty five year which is a little bit more than two kind of wave of golf. Wentz extensions a few years ago. Ain't that that seems about right. Yep thirty five thirty four. That would put him his now. We're looking at like some of the guys that are outside of you know the cycle of signing it. Which is what always have to look at here. You know that would put him outside the top five or something like that. You know he'd be had a gosto. Yes so it goes. It goes mahomes at forty five. Alan forty-three prescott. Forty watch and thirty. Nine wilson thirty five so rogers at thirty three point five but then again rogers turned down the deal. The what made the highest paid player in the nfl. So that's kind of separate mean gossett. Thirty three point five cousins at thirty three wednesday's at thirty two. I'd say a little bit more than that is fair and and and shorter so that teams can get it. We know baltimore's injury central to more guys go down edwards peter's any sense on what happens there with lamar deal. Probably this probably a little more. I you're probably looking at the forty. I may may be. Maybe so it all comes down and this is something that surprised. Were on a league. That josh allen took such a long deal because everyone thought when kirk cousins took.

"Arrowhead the two teams met in the divisional round of the plants last season when kansas city beat the browns. Twenty two. seventeen tim. They're still seem to be many skeptics. When it comes to the play baker mayfield. I know he had a strong season last year. Is he being disrespected. I think so i. I think he's being disrespected because a lot of people will look at the sophomore slump that he has a lot of people will take credit for say. The credit deserves to the running game. Nick tied in the defense. And and you know when you really sit down and you watch the film you watch someone. At the end of the season that was playing at a very high level. Actually the last six games baker mayfield head eleven touchdowns and one pick the only person that was better than that was stephen. As guy a-rod aaron rodgers right. So when you're putting someone in the same category for the last six weeks you've got to give them a lot of respect. And i think baker is do a lot of respect but is he in the same category as johnson. Patrick right now. I don't think so. But is he a very good quarterback in the nfl to have the chance to take even the next step. I think so. And he's also one drive away from beating a kansas city. Chiefs played a good game. He played well in that game as well. So it's not like he had poor performances in the playoffs. He played well down the stretch. And when i look at the browns. I see a good team but i also see a very good quarterback. Okay couple number one. I see Jacksonville on that schedule their philadelphia on that schedule there are the new york jets on that scheduled talking about last game the last few games. I don't don't give me ruined tennessee in baltimore pittsburgh win two plus the playoff game. Get all of that. But i'm just saying there's some some suspect competition but that's neither here nor there. Here's my biggest thing about baker mayfield first of all the progressive commercials no problem with the progressive commercials. I did in the past because he had more progressive commercials than wins but last she had eleven win. You sell missed it but it's all right. I'm happy for him. 'cause you're winning games so now it makes sense to have you have at least more wins as many wins as progressive commercial. That's all i ask. Make sure win at least match exceed the commercials. That's all i ask now. Let me get to this game. This do baker mayfield. We going to just embrace the fact that what we're really saying is he ain't as bad as as spokes was trying to say he was. After freddie kitchens was coaching them because he had twenty one interceptions the year before last and last year you only had eight. He completed sixty two percent of his passes. He threw twenty six touchdowns. I will remind everybody talking about how been robbed as bergen needed to go home. Not me for different people. Talking about how ben rothlisberger needed to go home. He had thirty three touchdowns and ten cents and they wanted to sit up there saying he. He's done which makes no sense to me but make twenty six eight and and and act like they want to throw up right wolf. You got nick chomping. Kareem hunt your backfield. You've got jarvis landry out there. You get no del beckham. Doing your back. Kevin's defence has proven to be a damn good coach and he's safeguarded and brought a law to make it a lot. i don't think that they make disrespected. I think people have been very fair in pointing out the things that will go wrong. Because you've got to remember temp. He comes in there as a rookie. He plays well then he doesn't want he wants freddie kitchens as the coach. They gave him what he wanted. Okay and then. Obviously they had to make some changes because they knew they went in a different direction. He was trying to help. Make decisions and people were tom to romantically the browns. This a second year quarterback why you empowering him make sure this brother knows how to play his position before he elevates the decision making. Thank god for andrew berry. Who's doing a great job. And of course kevin stansky but things were real back in. so he's he's got upward trajectory. I like baker mayfield. What i've got a lot of moxie worthy of being a number one overall picky shown celestial. I like them but in the same breath i wouldn't say he's been disrespectful because i think people have been very fair and pointing out the things that they pointed out about him. Then well some of what you said. But hear the end about fair. And i don't think the criticism on baker mayfield has always been fair. Listen a lot of people that judge him for the commercials and say why is he doing all these commercials. If they were offered to do those commercials they would've been doing it right so just because he says yes to an offer he gets. Why criticize him. Why knock someone. I don't get it. I don't necessarily about the media so he doesn't have as many wins. So what progressive said. We're gonna pay you to a commercial. The you know what. I'm going to say to baker. Hey congrats you've got an awesome gig because guess what for a lot of people that say. Why does he take in the commercials. If progressive would've asked you you would have said yes. That is the truth. You know what i'm going to say. How can congrats on getting something. Awesome for yourself. You know what. I'm not going to evaluate you on progressive. I'm gonna value. What you what you did on the field in. One doesn't have to correlate to the other. I'm going to say congratulations on progressive. And you know what you've been a proven. That's how i look at it. I'm forgetting opportunities to ten. Can i say this as much as i love progressive. If you're struggling gyco might have been a better choice that particular time. Not with same when you anywhere you lose it when you lose the not. Just say he's winning now. So as you're progressing beautiful things. I need to just ignore my friend over here right now. Okay baker one. Four of his last five road starts tim. I'm really excited about this. Because we have one of the best rookie classes and obviously we have our quarterback and you here to help us break it down. So let's do that now and let's rip through them so the two thousand twenty one. Nfl draft saw three quarterback selected with the first three picks for the third time in the common era and it was the second time five quarterbacks were taken with the first fifteen picks played with trevor lawrence in the preseason. Do you think he has what it takes to live up to that number one pick height. I couldn't hear most of that can repeat the question. So basically i was just saying. Obviously you're playing with trevor lawrence and the preseason do you think he has what it takes to live up to that number one pick hype while hoping to get an actual passer completion and make a little move or something that didn't happen but we'll put that to the so i tell ya yes. I think i think trevor absolutely will live up to the hype i think. He's got an unbelievable talent. i think he's got a great mindset. I think is a great young man everything about him. Honestly it's just it was. It was a joy playing with them. It's a pleasure being around him. He is a really good kid. I think's going to handle the pressure. I think he's gonna handle jacksonville. Jacksonville already is in love with him. You know he's he's you know he's got a great wife he's got a great situation he's he's fitting into the city. Urban is going to try to do everything to support him..

"You could talk about life you can talk about whatever and i think that other guys see that i mean. We were mostly at twitter show. Most instagram show gets a few hundred thousand views if you know during during the season and all that stuff per week and i think that if there are nfl stars or media members who. They've reach out to us. I wanna come on slow news day and because they see how we put them in a light where it's like okay we're just hanging out over zoom if if if we brought out a keg wouldn't be out of place right and so there is no drinking on tuesday but there could be right and that to me i think leads to other other people wanting to say yes to things. No one else does it. All access is like that. You know if you go. I think that a lot of times. You know my training camp tour this. I'm not saying this is the case. But i got josh allen. Rogers mahomes borough at the end boroughs. Coming off an injury. He's coming off of a couple of weeks practice. You know he was. He was joe. Cool your and a half ago and now things are not going well for him and they could have been easy for him to say. No but i think access leads to more access. And i think that someone like borough not that. I'm saying he's sitting around reading the ringer. But like if you get all these other guys. I think it just becomes a self filling prophecy and you start to other people like i did. Not the only person. I did not get on my entire journey towards mike zimmer because he was dealing with a lot of the kirk cousins fall out and was just swamped with requests. But i would say that the access begats access to more for you. One give any kind of word count restrictions because one of the things. I've noticed from your pieces on the ringer is you know you're able to go long. And it reminds me a lot of You know sort of the. Hey daily someone i and even before worked there sports illustrated and when you would not be surprised to read a forty five hundred five thousand word profile on a on an nfl player. So i don't have a workflow restriction. If if i if i gave them seven thousand word story it would put a lot of stress on the copy. Desk would put a lot of stress on my editor conor nevins and so i try to keep it under three thousand possible and andrew. Berry store was around. Three thousand. you know depends on the story. I the best advice i got on. This stuff was two years ago three years ago. I gotten rogers about a bunch of league issues. Things like the franchise tag. It was a really cool story. Remember talking to my editor rhino handling. He was like okay. Listen like you have gold. You have twenty minutes of aaron rodgers talking about just addressing all this stuff from the league and if we run every word he says that will be fine and you end up writing you know what twenty five hundred words and it's just rogers talking and so we don't want to shortchange if someone gives the time and gives us the interview. We don't want to shortchange that. And whether that's borough or mahomes whomever like get that stuff out. There dan campbell. You know with berry kind of a similar buried light up my notebook and the same way that some of these other guys did but this is a really awful guy who spent time with us and so we want to give that the full shift and we don't want to shortchange that kind of stuff. So i don't have a word count. It's more of fits the story. I think it'd be weird if i get a guy. If tomorrow i get daniel jones for five minutes and i write five thousand words on it. That's probably when it becomes a problem. But if i jones or sam darnold or whomever for an hour then you can get longer with it. So i think that we we just go. Operate within reason and decide what counts can be have an amazing editor conor ivan. Amazing copy desk. Everybody supports me. So i just wanna keep them in mind and just kind of keep it to what the story demands then the last one for me And i think this sort of question would have been maybe more prominent or perhaps even more interesting in a pre cova world but the covert world. Now you know for many of us in this In this profession. We're all working from home. We're all we're not going to a physical office. You know the person we might interact with every day may live three thousand two thousand miles away. You live in new york the brooklyn. Okay the ringers. Main offices is still in los angeles. Yes okay how does that. How has that worked for you. do you feel. Is there any part of you. That feels disconnected. Or like. i was saying because we're now in this new paradigm where nobody's really had an office data. Maybe your what you do now is just sort of what everybody's going to do for in the next twenty twenty-five thirty years or so and it's a geography doesn't really matter when you can slack somebody. Yeah i would say so. That question might be different in a year when everything is one hundred percent back normal. Hopefully fingers crossed. I haven't noticed anything you know. My wife and i lived in augustine florida during work from home for handful of reasons in the fall and so we haven't lived in la for almost a year and still talk to bill all the time. I still dr mollie aruban. Who's a manager all the time and i think maybe because we have a young staff were more interconnected on text or slack or facetime or whatever it is so it feels like we're all working together. Sunday night podcasts. With prince yati. She's also on the side of manhattan. And then ben zolak is michigan. Stephen rees both those guys just joined us is in washington dc. So i don't. I think that maybe when the ringer launched there was more of a demand for everybody to be in the same place but i kind of think as things have disappeared. You know spotify policy now publicly announces that we can work from anywhere. And i think it would have been fine if i lived in new york regardless because spotify has offices here in game. One has offices here. But i think that we're just in an era now especially with media. Where as long as i'm in a couple of times a year maybe with these people and stay connected. I think it's all fine. I mean the fact that. If i if i wasn't talking to my bosses regularly i would maybe have have more of a concern there but i i am not noticed anything i i feel like. We haven't skipped to beat if anything were more efficient than than we were and so no. I think that there's a new era of work. I think there's a new era of media. And i think it can solve richard some of the problems in media For younger kids. Maybe one of the things. I worry about all the time. Is you know when i was coming up. New york was the epicenter of media. Same as you and it became a self-fulfilling thing where the only people got into the media where the kids who are able to afford moving to new york without a really great job at age twenty two and so i actually think that this could end up being beneficial for media that you can be anywhere in the middle of the country you can be in a different country And actually there's probably less 'gate-keeping. I would say going forward. I agree with you. And as i look back on it. It it's like mind-blowing think that When i first started like at sports illustrated like we had like multiple floors on a building on west fiftieth street across from radio city music hall like to think about the dollar. Cost that those offices Were for you know at that. Time as would time inc..

"Me the give me the time. That is what I don't need that I don't need him. He already got a bad body celebrating. He already has a bad body. Like like I don't need Baker tearing anything. I don't need idiot that Stupidity, right? I don't need it. Just go to the side light because you're so important to me. I don't want you doing any gust for rod stuff. None of Augusta Rod had but the head floods his neck. I don't know. Always. Kriens of Martin Gramatica celebrate Martine Dramatic. Martino. Wasn't Martine Martine play with me. It was his brother. His brother was his brother. Yeah, it was his brother Arizona jump in and celebrate, like blew out his A C l little is a CEO. Yeah. No, I don't need any of that. Because You're the quarterback of the team. Just play the role point in the sky. Point to me. Meet me when I get to the sideline, Go to the sideline man put the hat on smile, but the running down the field. That's all they need. Is that soft hamstring Because Evan Evan was key, right? Yes, Bill Gramatica. How many damn dramatic as work grammatical, right, actually, like Zendaya houses. So many of those, but there's only one swagger. He's Marcus Spears, and he joins us right now. The Goodyear Hotline or ESPN, NFL Analysts. Uh so Swagger. What do you have a problem with like your quarterback celebrating away? Baker. We had them on video. They're just high stepping down the field after a touchdown. Do you feel like the same way? He said, Just put your head down. Get to the side. I don't hurt anything. I don't I don't And which one of y'all his key off this morning, Because obviously he madman. Let these dudes celebrate the new generation New evolution, man. No, I'm not mad. I just That's my I need him. I need him in the worst way. I don't want to play with the second stream. Dude, I don't want to do that. I just want him to You know certain muscles fire from Baker Mayfield and I doubted that the hamstrings really fire. So you're saying that the celebration is debt? Remember? I got you. Yes. Doesn't he doesn't want to head but the wall like us for us. That's a famous play, of course, but you're one of the guys. So you you are high on the Cleveland Browns. You believe in them top to bottom as a roster. So when you hear what Travis Kelsey says about them, and he believes, like, Yeah, we're going to see them a lot in the playoffs. We expect to see them and Jarvis Landry saying, You know you're not supposed to talk about Super Bowl but what are we working for? Of course, it's something we're working for. You see this kind of talk That raises the bar for the Browns. You believe they can reach that bar? I believe so. I mean, a couple of years ago, I thought it was premature. Obviously, we didn't know What Freddie Kitchens was as a head coach. Um and since I think the confidence I have since the Fenske insulate Baker in that offense, right, like they had a good year, but it wasn't in the right home about it was nothing that was going to break records are do anything historically, but Fast You took care of put him in a great situation. A great offensive line, a great run game, put playmakers around him, and I think he thrived by not having to do too much, and that was one of the knock that I had on him as he was trying to play Hero ball early in his career, so Think that phase of their team, it'll be fine. They'll get better. I believe Where Oh, BJ coming back and figuring out how to implement him, and from a defensive standpoint, we'll see how these guys jail, but I know the names are over there. I know they made moves for Johnson and Hill. No. They brought in Clowney and people talk about Clowney as far as the pass rush, in fact numbers. He's a really good run defender and he will benefit from playing opposite of Myles Garrett. I think this team is going to be really good man. And for as critical as I've been about on Baker and the Cleveland Browns, Um it's time to get respect when they do, And last year I thought they took a major step and obviously You want to see if they don't get better this year. Marcus. A lot of the Pundits because I take myself and you out of it. Excuse me, Um, when O P. J o me O with O. B. J was injured in the passing game and the Browns got a little bit better. Lot of people, you know, said that it was because oh, BJ wasn't there now to becomes back. What happens? She? I mean, look, man, I'm glad you said I need, you know, I never bought into that. But I guess it was just convenient man and I was listening to it like it's not the responsibility of any of us to figure it out. Just the fast kids responsibility and I'm sure It will be some things that they do differently, but I don't remember a team in the NFL, removing talent and being better. Right, like you look at numbers and all of them and I get it because analytics that have infiltrated and everybody looked old Baker look at Baker's Q B R and look at what he's doing. Maybe he was force feeding the ball to O. B. J, but that's a bigger problem. Right as long as they can insert him into this offense. Figure out the role and it doesn't seem like Oh, BJ has been vocal about needing the rock or doing anything like that. I think it would be great energy between the theme this year, he will be an added value. And you know, Jarvis talks about how good he looks after the eighth year old to keep the keep. Oh, BJ stand healthy for the for the duration of a season. But, um, it's defense. You've got to earn his paycheck when you get back. And not only figure out how to get in the ball, but also make that work with everything else that they have going, and if he can't do that, it's a travesty but based on what he did last year and how he got people involved, He should be able to do. So. What is their true ceiling, though, man, like be honest with ourselves. I think this team can make the NFC Championship Key. Uh, I don't think they are on the Chiefs level because of 15. And because of that experience, but from a talent standpoint. If you look at the way they played last year, and you look at how they're built, and you mean you old school. This team can run the football and when you can do that you got a shot in every game. And I know it's crazy when people hear us take it and, you know received when people going for 5000 yards and 50 touchdowns in the NFL, and that's the thing that gets storylines. But like I said earlier, They insulated bacon, his offense and Children, Kareem Hunt. If not the best, arguably the best backfield in the league. When you talk about the tandem, and and I just think, experience maturity going to the playoffs last year, understanding that they can do it. Um and It's not the same old Brown's I mean, we were in the league when the Browns with the business I think they made made him went to the playoffs one time while I was in the league, But this team is I mean, it seems man. Just coaching staff. It seems that Andrew Berry, the general manager, It seems like everybody is working in tandem and as long as they can continue to progress, Baker, I think the talent around him Is that good as anybody else on paper? Yeah, No, it's it's interesting J and swag. Ooh, When you think about it, what you just said about You know, 5000 yards Tampa Bay and I'll say this to the cows come home..

"Is settle. Hi oh great. So grit dude papa calf. That's i mean there's nothing sucks. No soft tissue suck because those are things. You can't really play through everything else. You can kind of get it out and figure it out employees no matter what you have but when it's a like a calf really bad groin. You can't do it all right. Let's talk about something you see. A lotta guys couldn't battle through last season because a mandate myles garrett said conditioning was he felt like he was at about fifty percent africa over the last year. So i think that is why by the way a lot of people you get drought two weeks two games. Aj probably wouldn't have got covered by the way is mean system. Just battling an awful and also how much he buys into the protocols and everything like that and also the amount of cigar smoke that fills his lungs. Every there's no way the cove it would have been able to get through that whole thing but he said he felt fifty percent africa of it could be the same thing for cam newton by the way long-term effects. He said he didn't feel like himself. This past off season. I think we've all seen it. He is in great shape. I don't know if there's a revenge body on covid that garrett has been going. After his basketball season is over. his career is over. Kevin stefanski continues to be a hilarious. Human being says He's retired hell run basketball myles. Garrett was at fifty percent last year now is dot clowney alongside of them that entire teams gets gets odell back. The browns might be a real problem in myles garrett at fifty percent obviously specimen this year. He's gonna be even better. This is brian steam the dog pound. You go from out house the penthouse pretty quick to maybe with andrew berry at the helm. Cleveland's gotta feel very good about the team. They have a but don't you think it all like it. All hinges on on baker now baker has an unbelievable opportunity. All this great defense. It looks like it's offense has tons of weapons now if they don't win the only person being blamed as big. I don't want to like. I don't like doing this. 'cause i've had some bad body pictures that have been put out there and i felt like i've been in some really good shape but maybe the pictures didn't make me. Look good yeah. Baker looks better this year than he's ever looked like conditioning wise. It feels like he's always been like a sturdy athletic guy. You know this year feels like i just saw one video and i think it was supposed to make him look like he was in great shape but he did you know it. I feel like baker has a hand handle of the offense. I'm real pump for that brownstein. It stinks dwayne. Haskins and ben rothlisberger is still in the division and lamar jackson and sammy watkins or in division and joe burrow is division. He threw a ball seventy yards the other day. Just right out of the back of the end zone by the way don't with braxton loved it slow. Maybe who's running the ravens social media cow. Yeah we said that earlier. There's a potential. Hey we wanna fuck. Burn down a guy on the internet. Who's our guy. This is wendy though you heard about south west and i'm sure this isn't the only pass he through all day. Yeah i think this was actually the first play of the practice and it was probably the only time they were allowed out there. Let's assume that ball tighter. Sammy watkins in the market on the same page walk ins quarterbacks best friend when he gets do believe the odds for the ravens to get. Julio jones of now jumped up to plus twenty five thousand after. This video is wise that because he's been and said look i mean i can catch some balls but if they're coming at me quacking like that. There's no chance. I'm going to baltimore i to let you know some ravens fans have tweeted me I blocked one particular person. Okay they said your show is so lame or dead that you have to talk about a social media. Video of lamar. Jackson actually do and yeah. That is the biggest news. And i felt like i want the bat for that guy a lot. Hey there's gonna be some wobbles out there. Aj we are upset that the maybe it was the social media person. That tweet not blaming him. You're not going to hit it. And maybe that may be the only throw and catch. They have from amar to sammy. Watkins like oh man were screaming. We got to put something out here. We go and they didn't show it to anybody else. I want to let people know that. If they put up a video of a punter just hit clear shank that rolls down inside the ten or whatever i would also say we could have probably put another ball out there and i think this is you know all right. Go do it. So like the ravens social media person probably great sushmita person. Kay i'm sure. They went to school degree and social media. Whatever they're hustling social. What's the title the title is. This is a fake bullshit degree. The only way you can actually get good at this. If you live inside of it we can tell you what other people have done. But it's going to be very different for you but you can go sell olds that you are younger and know what's going on and they don't. This is a new thing that is happening in a lot of businesses. Okay it's i get a chance to see it mostly because i get a chance to have conversations with a lot of business people. We live in the social media world. I'm asked to have conversations with the social media people to digital people and i talked to him. I'm like oh you're a fucking idiot. This person has no idea what they're doing but they probably got some degree. They told the old person they say. Hey listen this is. This is what i do. You don't know this stuff is is for younger people. I'll go ahead and do this for you. And they inevitably lie about the number. Say they did this. They do that and the people that are in charge. Have no fucking idea. Say they don't know. I'm not saying this has happened with the ravens. This is an epidemic that is happening. Though across businesses that are trying to younger and the issue is if somebody's going to social media going to be hard to hire them because they're going to be very expensive so it's like it's one of those halfway. I'm not saying the ravens person did this but if you haven't somebody run your social. They got to be on the same page as you like they have to be. They have to be all you have to have a lot trust in them to. I'm not saying just because of this video and this thing but this is happening in a lot of businesses and we've all seen it somebody. Some businesses put out swinging. All that's good. That's good good. Good how that. How fucking hit sent. How how did this. Hey send button get hit on that. It's kind of happening. As the social media age continues to take over these old businesses that may be not necessarily dive in so they don't really know not saying the ravens person did this but this person did not make lamar look good and i wonder if they even know what they did. They even know that conversation around the mar is exactly what that video was kinda putting out there so that's a world so with. Aj that's and that's what you lead off with this entire thing. Yeah i wasn't saying it wasn't like a slight tomorrow. I'm just like i know there's there's a lot better pass. You can put out there. But to their credit the social media people like i would assume ninety percent of people that watched this video. Oh cool the martin samuel. They didn't think about it. I don't think so now. I think you're not going to the internet enough yeah. I don't think you're giving credit to the internet. The internet as soon as they see that video the internet is what the internet is quietly few of us though who watch the video claps social media team it like oh they found the best pass the day and tackle is exactly what that person in the afc north by the way. It's hot kitchen with those fans. It's hot kitchen with those fans you know. And i've seen some terrible passes in practice on a very very very very very good quarterback that's going to happen and i'm just assuming had no incompletions on the entire day. I assume that this was the first pass of the day but boy they set them up for this guy. Since this terrible. I might be misremembered today. Do a schedule. Release the ravens Social media team. Whenever almost doing they're all giving each other awards to our social media..

"15 and two, I can't do the math. I know the schedule change like, I couldn't do math before like, sixteen games was a lot easier. Now, you're asking me, this is like trigonometry want to keep saying teams that are mediocre and I'm like, I can't say 8:00 and 8 anymore, anyway, I don't know. So I look the Patriots went in there and killed the Chargers last year. It's completely different coaching staff. Brandon Staley is now the head coach, you know, I think a lot of Justin Herbert, I just think that it looked the Patriots going to have to start losing some games. And so, I have them for a little bit of a lull right here at the middle of the season. So I have them 6 and 2. And, and also, we might as well stay on the Panthers look dead. I know a lot of people especially around here. Don't know much about the Panthers. I just know. I've, I watched them a few times last year, I like the way Matt rhule coaches. I like the way they compete now. They have seen. Sam darnold. Yes. The Patriots are familiar with him but I haven't not another loss for them in that one. So I have them 6 and 3 after week, not, I have them down against the Chargers up against the Panthers. I do think they should be Carolina at Carolina. I don't think the Panthers are there just yet to me. There about a year away and I also, I like Sam darnold an awful lot when he came out, I thought he was easier franchise, call back but New York, destroyed that dude, and we've got to see if they destroyed him for the rest of his career or ship walk into Carolina and looked like a new guy and I just can't erase the history of Donald versus the Patriots. So I will go with New England beating Carolina in that game. So I guess I have them at what 7 and 2 right now. We've got Cleveland in Foxborough as I just mentioned off the Browns, legitimately have one of, if not the most talented rosters in the game, an offseason where they added to their defense over and over and over again. I think Andrew berries on a fantastic job. Kevin stefanski has helped transform Baker, Mayfield. More play-action, more bootleg action with Baker. Your thoughts on Browns pass? Yeah, I think it's going to be a great game. I am, I do agree with you. I think the Browns have one of the most talented rosters in the NFL but I do think they're still the Browns. I do think there's a disconnect I just think about, you know, and there were probably be a law someplace else..

Have them weigh in on some of these top story lines, and I'm sure Ryan, you've got to be really annoyed that it's probably not just the talk show host around the country. That you deal with. It's not just your podcast. You're very popular podcast, but it has to be just family members at this point. We're probably like, All right, knows something about football. What's going on with Aaron Rodgers is there. Roger is going to be in Green Bay? Is he gonna be out of Green Bay? Are you annoyed with the persistent questions? And how would you answer those? Hey, Lai Mei doing Ah, Happy Mother's Day that plastic into you with me, So here's the deal. I don't mind Aaron Rodgers talk because it's actually pretty exciting for this time of year. Usually I'm burned out on Draft cover's been doing it for 10 half months, and we're at the conclusion of that. And, you know the first day of the draft in over a week now. The Aaron Rodgers news breaks and it Z a slow burn because Aaron Rodgers you know, as I told you before it is Hall of Famer first found that out, but he's also incredibly vindictive and stubborn, and he feels like, you know, interactive thing out and make it as uncomfortable as possible for the Packers, So I'm happy to watch this. Real life soap opera unfold in slow motion. I'm sort of intrigued by it. I'm not a Pakistan because I would probably feel differently if I were But I do want to see other sense because I'm like John Watson, who said he wanted out of Houston. He had the mark of allegations that that sort of that process number one of number 2 24 25 years old. He's not just gonna retire and riders is accomplished more than enough. In one football lifetime, and he may feel like he's willing to, uh, be spiteful. Tell the Packers to go jump off a bridge. He's not going to relent in terms of anything they may do to try to make him feel better. And opportunities when they traded up for Gordon Love and didn't take a wide receiver in order to take a wide receiver at any point, this one point draft. They finally took one in the third round last week, and they got a good player to Marty Rogers. But again, maybe a Rogers is is at the point where he feels like he's done with it. I don't want to entire. I want to see him traded to a team of Denver and see what that does to that division. I would imagine. Actually, teams like the bills and the Ravens would love to see. A rod is better Denver as well and make it a lot harder for the Chiefs to be competitive, but You know, we'll figure it out together. I don't know if it's gonna have to happen up between one because the contract situation or if it's gonna happen, maybe closer to training camp. But that man, I swear it feels like Aaron Rodgers says, is probably Pretty close to saying he's played his last down as a member of green that practiced All right. I have noted the teams that I am most excited as storylines going into the season doesn't mean they're all gonna be great. I'm just excited about storylines. I said Arizona cardinals, the Rams, the Jaguars, colds and Browns of those, which are you? In your role most excited to see must watch, at least to start the season. A lot of those scenes in the conversation. I think we won is going to start with the Rams. Just get a sense of what Matthew Stafford is gonna look like in a shaman play offense, which, as should have most people pretty excited. Ransoms, especially Because you're not hasn't been able to do it consistently on a lot of ways. It feels like what's going on in Sampson's Kojima Garoppolo so dependent would say landscapes on the field that would put them in the mix as well. But I'm starting with the Rams. I want to see what they're doing. They never first round picks. Okay, He's never had a first round pick since he arrived in L A. We'll have little 2024 yet they continue to find ways to win. I think it's well worth the cost of getting Stafford. Whatever it was, they had to give up to get him because I think he's a difference maker for them, and we'll see just how much but They're a team. I think the Browns right here in the next and you know, I told you last week, I think the Browns have a chance. To be the favorite night division. For some reason, it feels like The Ravens are the other knee jerk favorite Just because of the reasons the Browns the Browns historically, but but I think me and Andrew Berry And tell Mr Fancy had that team going in the right direction, and they had a really good draft. They're young. They're faster. Physical. Baker makes his play with confidence on and on and on. And the only 19. I mentioned a sort of weird team to mention giving her you know how good they've been In the last two decades. I'm gonna see what happens with Cam Newton that Jones In New England. I want to see how that works out. I was soon maximums on field. I want to see how good he's gonna be compared to these other rookie quarterbacks. Is their world where they go crazy college style and use them both like a little. Urban Meyer would Chris Leak and Tim Tebow is there any chance of some like that? You didn't hear of any of that. Maybe it's too gimmicky, but they don't care about Cam Newton's future. They don't care about how many hits he takes. So is there a world where that's the case? Yeah, And I think we're living in it. I think this is the exact world we don't go to alter the universe. I think there's change that actually does happen. You mentioned the cans on a one year deal. And, you know, obviously the plan is T Make Mack Jones the next I don't think I'm ready for the next franchise. Teach the quarterback for the next decade or so. And the sooner the better and I was saying this From in January that after trait several on the quarterback must ready to play right now, Mac Jones. So there's that Zionist every time that he needs to spend learning the offense and you know if we're throwing kids out there on day one who are much less prepared than Max Jones, we've done that years past. You certainly imagine backgrounds and we're ready to go on. This team is completely different. Even once you're there, they were struggling on both sides of balls. They spent a ton of money on free agents. All they needed was a quarterback that got that in the draft. I think that's exactly the case. I think you see some coal on stuff with Cam. Actually my psychologist, not apartment and just this the other day, hold on stuff with Cam and then Mac Jones in more of a traditional package, and I think that probably happened sooner. Rather than later. They're gonna wait around to December two Figures of Matt Jones is I quickly now Zach Wilson. I don't understand why the Jets wouldn't go Justin Fields Trey Lance, but they end up going with Zach Wilson. The arm talent is obviously exciting. Does he have any chance to succeed there, at least in the short term? Sure, And I think I get it just like to cry. They 2nd 1st round pick but traded that catalyzed Tucker. Often development means so much to borrow. You have to protect these young quarterbacks, so they have a ride back to the last year Search round pick. Analyze very Tucker. This year's apart from Petty trade up four, so they're building the inside out. I think that we can have success. He's just gonna be a little tougher, given that he played on that schedule that he played. That it was the power five schedule, so we'll see how that translates into bigger, faster, stronger players. But I mean the athleticism in the smarts and all the stuff we saw on film work. Certainly exciting. Is he better than Justin feels a freelancer Mexico's We'll have fun together, but we all thought San Donna was gonna be really good. Circumstances were such that he didn't have a chance. So I think that he has a better chance at Wilson doesn't certainly something Sam Donaldson. You know, I heard Joe Banner former GM in the league formerly with the Eagles, and obviously the Browns, he said. Justin Fields didn't just drop at the end of the season, he said. Basically, maybe Justin Fields was never as high as the media had anointed him. That that sounds like fair logic. I just know that from what I saw, especially the way the league is transition for these guys that have mobility and somebody with the freak athleticism of Justin Fields and the great arm talent that It just makes sense that he would be second right behind Trevor Laurence will NFL teams didn't feel that way. What is it that the media was missing all along when it comes to Justin Fields?.

"Couldn't be chad any down the stretch baker mayfield can do that well. That's dependent on baker mayfield. Surely opin that on defense depend that on a defense couldn't stop chad. Hetty you know from michigan. I you know i i would pin that more on the defense and you say okay you had that deep defensive collapse. So what do you do in the off season. And what is andrew berry done. He's gone out and gotten say great. He's got back. He's got a defensive end. We're looking at another defensive end or adding it linebacker. He has gone defense defense defense and i know that seems to set things up for me right for defense. Could've stopped chad henne all the sudden we beat kansas city. Seems like we're making the right steps logically based upon what we had last year and none of which has anything to do with the offense. We've got an offensive line that solid. We've got tight end depth. We've got wide receivers. We're gonna be drafting a wide receiver too. I think on top of it we went out we got higgins back for for almost nothing for basically a song You've got oh by the way. Nick chubb back there You know he's got a lot of weapons around him he's also got kareem hunt back there. That's a nice one to punch as good as it gets in the league by far so to say baker mayfield's never gonna win a super bowl. That's that's unbelievable for me to hear from a guy who roots for the giants who giants by the way. Maybe you're too young for this. But do you remember who the quarterback was when they won with ourselves. It was Phil simms an hostetter. So not hostile. Jeff hostetler jeff hostetler now. Is that one of those names are gonna ring through the halls forever and ever you think man jeff hostetler. There is a guy who is going to win a super bowl. Nobody would said that nobody would have said that right now. At least.

"They gotta be available on Wednesday, Thursday Friday And some of the details. They have to show up on tape. You know, we have to be much more detailed football team, especially in some areas on defense and Will be a critical area that we try to improve here. I mean, there has been some improvement. I'll give him that sort of kind of he took over a team to a six and 10. Then went for in 12, then 17 and nine now, 18 88, Nate. But they started six and three. I mean, I guess it's something but Is that really what Mark Davis was expecting when he hopped in that minivan, and he rolled over to his office of P. F. Chang's and he committed 100 mil to Chunk. I doubt it. Not when you've seen Andrew Berry and Kevin's too fancy coming to the Browns and completely change that team in a matter of months during a pandemic, So don't tell me that that's all it takes is time. It doesn't have to take time. It doesn't And don't tell me that the Raiders face planting this season, and some of the young players didn't pan out, And that is because of Cove it. It's not because of Cove it every other team in the NFL had to deal with Cove. It Just not sure that any team did a worse job of it than the Raiders. You want to talk about sucking you want talk about told lock of accountability. All you need to do is look at the number of times their coaches or team or players were fined for co vid related issues. I mean, holy crap! Weird was that I understand screwing up once sort of, but not really. But once I would let that slide. The Raiders, though, were screwing up covert protocols like that was their job, not football. They weren't a football team with a cove ID protocol problem. They were a cove it protocol problem that happened Play football once in a while. It was almost like they thought that there wasn't a pandemic going on or that if they ignored it, it would just go away. Time and time again over the course of the season. I talked to coach is not talk to players who talked about how staying safe in following covert protocols was bumping accountable to your teammates to your coaches to the people around you, man. We wanna play. We wanna play so badly, so we're going to do what we have to do. Raiders, though they just seem like they're flat out, ignored it like it didn't apply to them Somehow. This is why a galore is 100% correct when he called everybody out for a lock of accountability and for quitting and for sucking. It's on the players, and it's on the coaches and AG. Laura's right. They did suck. Saying something socks is not to take unless you're saying the 2020 Raiders sucked, or Eric in Orlando's cost sucked. And then you're right. Yeah, Glorious. He's right rack him. Nellie, claim your golden ticket. I've got a golden ticket. Did you have a good tape? Your take? Did not suck. Nelson claim your golden ticket.

"Scott Sex and you referenced those two things is it's not like they're going to go in and they're going to be able to impact the on field product or the selection process for national championship and make the Pac 12 suddenly be Wildly relevant, You know different argument, whether they should or shouldn't be whether they get the attention they should have. They should not, but streaming contracts, Television rights branding. Those sorts of things, Yes, and way, And we've talked Tom Ah Lot T Dog about about Theo and his philosophy that every 10 years a leader needs to move on. And I think you can debate whether that makes sense or not. I don't know that's person to person. It's situational. Certainly, Bill Belichick and Gregg Popovich would Would argue in a different direction. I could give you other examples, but this might be one of those situations where Larry Scott's in a nice job, and his successful efforts are appreciated. And it's time in a rapidly changing world for for some a new perspective and some fresh blood here. Cleveland Browns enjoyed a long overdue breakthrough to 11 wins and the playoffs this season and yesterday, GM Andrew Berry met with the media to convey his appreciation. Or everyone's hard work. This year was a very challenging season. Every NFL season is challenging and just but honestly, given the impact Of global pandemic. It made it that much more difficult for all the people in our building, and we had a number of individuals that just made incredible sacrifices. Families made incredible sacrifices. Everyone was just such a huge part in allowing us to accomplish some pretty special things. You know the seasons. I couldn't be prouder of our of our entire group. Remember? He was hired less than a year ago as the youngest GM in the NFL. Crazy 11.5 months so far for Andrew Berry Fire sell, the Browns will be able to at least repeat their success, so a playoff berth and a playoff win next season. Does a by count as a win the second I say Absolutely, given the new layout short. Yes. Second round kill. That's right. Yeah. Divisional round counts. All right. I'm gonna buy it. I'm gonna buy. I recognize that in the National Football League in particular, things can change on a dime and it happens and it's hard to predict but best guess I think that they've shown that they are building long term. Successful organization. The culture seems to be changing. Baker Mayfield at a minimum, right is a quarterback that can lead you to a playoff win, and we'll see whether there's more of a ceiling or not. So, yeah, I'm I'm a believer. Wow. I'm a believer in the Cleveland Browns. Getting back to this from yesterday. New Falcon's head coach aren't there. Smith met the media for the first time on Tuesday and laid down his vision for Atlanta's future things out a little murky, though, when he was directly asked about Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. It's more than that, Julio. I mean, you know, there's a lot of talented players on this roster and whether you're talking about Kris Lindstrom Grady Jared. I mean, there's so many players that were just still early in this process if we fill it out, I mean, roster today is gonna look different from September And then as you get the week 17. It's a constant evolution. A lot of talent here that we want to build off of, But I can't give any snap judgments today because we're still early in this process, all right by yourself. The Falcon should be looking to move on from that Ryan this off season with their new head coach, I'll give you snap judgment. I'll give you a Bible. I just heard Again. That's a tough spot to be in, but someone's gotta prep that guy You're going to get asked about Matt Ryan. Let's have a good answer, okay? I was, don't know. Really sure. Haven't haven't evaluated him. Was everything that could go wrong. Other than calling a Mike, Look, my grinds, Greg QB. I gotta evaluate him. John Harbaugh had a little bit of a tense meeting with the media yesterday in the wake of Baltimore's disappointing loss to the Bills last weekend and commented directly about one of the hottest topics among Ravens fans this week whether it's wise to be thinking about a new long term contract for QB Lamar Jackson Absolutely we want you know, Lamar. Theo..

"Him up at 7 11 today. Get a recruit by strippers coming in. They could fire you, but they can't eat you. And they run through our ass like through a 10 horn man, and we could not stop the audio You need to hear. It's D a sound. Check your best audio off the day starts with the GM of the Browns Andrew Berry on the Browns offense last year, seemingly improving. When Odell Beckham went down with injury here's Bury our offense just evolved over the course of a year. I think part of that is just chemistry. Time on task. You mean, you know, I think that's really independent of Odell. I've said, you know, multiple times Rebels a good football player. He acclimated nicely with our with our program with Kevin. Um, you know, with his teammates. Um, quite honestly, I just want us many good football players on the roster as possible. He's dynamic. So I think there is truth there that the Browns offense needed time I needed experience together..

"To have 10 straight hours of football the last two days. I didn't hate it. I just wish they wouldn't do that. Save us from ourselves. That's what I'm asking these leads to do save it because we're gonna love it. We're going to consume it. You expand the NC double a tournament. You expand the postseason in any sport. We're going to consume it, okay? I'm asking these leagues to please protect us from ourselves. Give us the opportunity to have a few hours of our weekend to ourselves. And to our family. And now most of those, I would say about half of those games weren't really worth it. Coincidently. It was the two o'clock game in each window. Rams, Seahawks, bears and Saints. Although the Bears and Saints was extremely watchable, as long as you watch them on the right network, get into that in a little bit. What the two The 22 PM games this weekend were terrible. Awful football. Early games the way games I found endlessly compelling. And that's where I want to start today with one of those two games. Yes, we'll get into the Broncos GM searched. No, they haven't found anybody yet. Talk a little nuggets. Wait till you hear what Mitchell Robinson said about guarding Nicolay Yokich. Delusional. Um But I want to start today. First of all by congratulating All you pipe speak Brown's backers. I know you're listening. What a win last night. For your boys. And the job. Kevin's too fancy and Andrew Berry Cause you can't forget about Andrew Berries role in all of this, but certainly Kevin's too fancy takes center stage on this. But the job they undertook when they came to Cleveland. Was not just about turning a bad team into a good one. That that's big, faint Joe's job. That's Whether you believe that at the new GM in Denver will have any power or not, That's supposedly what his task is turning a bad team into a good team. That's difficult. But that's not Necessarily what Kevin's too fancy and Andrew Bears job was And by extension, Baker Mayfield. Their job was to turn around. One of the worst losing cultures that we have Have had ever In professional sports. You can't do what they're doing in Cleveland on talent alone. And in case of point, this Cleveland team has been talented. For a couple years. Right? They're not devoid. Of town. Damn it been devoid of talent in the last couple years. But they were still terrible. And it speaks to the culture. That was in Cleveland. It sounds like it's you know. Mystic. Mystic. You know, you can't cosmic forces and things like that which I'm not a huge believer in So it sounds a little bit, you know, out of the realm of reality, but in sports. We know this. It's it's real. Whether it's It's a real force that's pushing on an organization like the Cleveland Browns, or it's just a self fulfilling prophecy. Either way, we know that the job in Cleveland was not just Hey, get a team that's been losing and get him to win. It. Wasn't that simple. They had some talent. But they didn't have the right coach and in other spots on the roster, they didn't have the right players. And I know Kevin's defense. He wasn't in Pittsburgh last night, but talked about this last week. Being without him for one game is not the Broncos starting Kendall hidden. Okay. Alex Van Pelt like Eric, the enemy and Kansas City is an extension of the head coach. And the way that that game wind I think you and I probably could've called plays in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. And being success for So Kevin's and Kevin's defense he worked with the Browns all week. So the fact that he's gone as says nothing to me. Kevin Stephane Ski His Ability to turn this team around. Was felt last night and and it culminated in a lot of ways last night. I thought the Browns would make an interesting I bet on the Browns to cover I thought it would be close. No. One Expected what we saw last night. To go into a place where they hadn't won in 17 years. I mean, just going into Pittsburgh is not It's not just another game. For Cleveland. That that's big brother. That's been whaling on them for years. They had a one in Pittsburgh and 17 years, so to go into that stadium With those steaks last night being a playoff game. And to do it in the way that they did it. Yes, Things got a little bit sloppy towards the end. Yes, I think that that's should be a little bit worrisome if you're looking forward to the Kansas City game, but we're not doing that right now. Browns. Dismantled. The Pittsburgh.

"The Bears can keep this thing close and The Bears defense is little overrated. I think people think about the monsters of the midway and recent bears. Great defense is in Khalil Mack. And just assume. Well, if the Bears were in the playoffs, and Mr Biscuit is bad bye. Default. It must be the defense of that good. The defense hasn't been great in the middle of the pack of this season. Coil Mac is great, but the defense is a hole. And some of the injuries going into this game suggests that the Bears defense isn't great, but you know what else isn't great. The Saints home field advantage, you know, going into the Superdome this year without fans is much, much different. We're very limited fans much, much different. Been going in there with 70,000 crazy preserves Saints fans. So make sure this he's not gonna have a tough time hearing himself. That Maggie is not gonna have a tough time against this kind of dinner over the crowd. I think the Bears were able to move the football little bit, and I also have seen so many times with saints over the last decade. We've assumed in the dome in the playoff. They're just going to run roughshod over the opponent and it didn't happen. And you think about how the Saints have lost their last three playoff games. We've seen them lose the Minneapolis miracle. We've seen them lose on the no flag of the NFC championship game against the Rams. We've seen them also lose last year when Kirk Cousins went down there in one By and large. The Saints have played really close playoff games even at home, and I think that 10.5 is just a huge number. I think this will end up being closer to a six or a seven point win by the Saints. I cannot foresee a scenario where Drew Brees ends his career. Losing is a 10 point favorite. Two missed Robiskie. But I also don't think it goes easy. Finally in Cleveland, they finally have a playoff team for the first time in nearly 20 years. And yet it's the same owner, As says presided over some of the worst times in Brown's history. Jimmy has llama. It was Brandon Weeden, who was selected in the first round by the Browns a number of years ago. Who joined me this week and I asked him okay. The Browns went from 11 16 and one and 31 2 in the playoffs and 11 and five Is it also, the owner has maybe figure some things out here was Weeden. It's just like anything else. I think he probably wanted a little bit along the way each and every year with every bad decision and made or quick judgment. He and maybe, you know, he probably learned from it. And I always thought it was extremely nice guy didn't get to know him. Extremely welcome. I was there long enough, but Just a you know, seem like a really nice guy and obviously very successful, But look, you gotta go out and you gotta hire people. You trust, um hired guys, especially the top that we're gonna delegate a little bit and do the things that you know, winning cultures and winning football teams do And they didn't have that for a really long time. Um, you know, they made some Head scratching hires, Maybe in the last year for five years and from the outside looking feels like man, That's that's interesting. It's a simple, bold move, but I think he's he's kind of you found the method. Here's what I like about the Browns. They've hired guys without splash. They've hired guys without the sexy headline grabbing Type of attention and they've just gone. I got smart football people. And I mean smart, literally, not just football. Smart. Their general manager is Andrew Berry. Andrew Berry has He has experience in football. He was the VP of football operations in Philly. He also has experience in the Brown's organization is the VP of player personnel. He's also a Harvard graduate. Okay, would it take a guy that graduated from Harvard and no He's a pretty smart dude. He knows football, but he's also just bright in general, and that's important when you were assembling something that has not been assembled before. The knowledge of Everything because they're not a certain way to do this. And their head coach is Kevin's to fans. Key against defense. Key has had a long career as a football guy, Okay, he's been in football for a long time. He's gonna play caller. He's also just smart. In general. He is also an Ivy League grad when you're talking about smart people, but also have football as their background. Trust those guys. Because if you're a Penn grad likes to fan ski, a Harvard grad like Berry, you've also been a coach likes to fancy has been an assistant coach for like 10 years across the NFL. Vikings quarterbacks coach Tight ends coach running backs coach off offensive coordinator He has the reps. But he's also just in general, a bright guy. And so when you combine those two things, those the types of People that helps in changing cultures around cause then they can take their smart about other situations and other subjects and apply them. To a situation that's been really bad and say Well, okay. Here's a solution that has worked in this realm. Here's a solution that's worked in that realm. Here is a fix that I've seen other places, but it isn't just have to be about football. But you have the football credibility. Which both these guys do, Barry, it's too fancy. And to me, That's why this year. I mean, think about it. Brown's came off Freddie Kitchens nightmare that feels like a million years ago. They came off of Baker. Mayfield can never get it done, too, and Baker Mayfield out of shape and overweight into Mayfield's a productive and dependable member of the offense. They went from the Odell. Is he happy? Can you be happy to this year They dealt with his injury and it's like at a site at a mind full steam forward. Let's go Last year, Myles Garrett swinging a helmeted hitting Mason Rudolph in the freaking head. This year. Myles Garrett is one of the best pass rushers and football they brought The professionalism to the Browns. And that's why I think tonight. I just don't think the Browns came this far to be a disaster tonight, and I know that they've got one hand tied behind their back. And I realized that Without two fans, Killer sideline and Noble Tony on the offensive line. That's that's too big blows. But I just don't think we've gotten this far with this smart of a group of people and I can't believe I'm saying that about the Browns. For them to just melt down. Don't think is gonna happen tonight. So we got three games coming up today on a wild card Sunday. I want to go back to something. Did you see last night during the Sunday for the Saturday night game Bucks in Washington when they Put up the graphic of Tom Brady as the oldest player in NFL history to throw a playoff touchdown pass. This is pretty amazing. Last night, Tom Brady throwing a touchdown pass. Is 43 years old 159 days. So next week, we'll be even older than that, obviously by about six or seven days 43 years old 159 days the previous record for somebody to the thrown a touchdown pass in the playoffs. Was George Bland to who was 43 years old at 108 days. So about 51 days younger than Tom Brady. They showed this graphic last night. See this? Brady. Looks like you know, young, handsome, chiseled features. He's got no gray in his hair. Yeah, I just looks really good for 43. And George Bland..

Mornings with Keyshawn, Jorge & LZ
The Browns are trying a new approach heading into the 2020 season: Being quiet
"Let's start here in Cleveland atom I heard Baker Mayfield say last week last year was total and complete chaos. They had so much noise around the organization. Now it's like a church mouse. It's totally quiet. WHAT'S THE MANTRA? What's going on there with this approach? Well the circus that was in Cleveland left and has gone to Tampa Bay in the interim. Basically, you've got a new general manager Andrew Berry new head coach, and Kevin Stefanski and the noise that accompanied this team last year has quite a quite a bit I think people are more interested in seeing Ben Rothlisberger return in Pittsburgh. The return of the NFL's raining MVP Lamar Jackson in Baltimore even the number one overall pick Joe borrowing, Cincinnati that browns are. The least sexy story in the AFC north this season and so they're flying under the radar, which is a good thing for this team. They don't need anymore engine. Let them win before we anoint the Cleveland Browns and contender and I think that they're very encouraged by what they've seen so far from their team this summer
