They announced that they would be letting influencers into the fold just like any other commercial performer. Once in the union influencers would be eligible for things like pension and health benefits all based off the earnings. They make as an influence or why you may ask because sag after recognized that this. This ray here is the future of content. I think it's gonna be an embracing of a whole new way of storytelling. That will become ageless and we wanna make sure that those individuals even though they might be starting for one thing if they decide to really pursue this is an ongoing profession or a form of expression that they can do it with a sense of safety and dignity in excitement right want to give them the ability to love what they do and not feel that they're compromising when they're doing it. I called the president of the saga after union by the way. Because that's what i do. I call the people who are doing the things and gabrielle. Carteris mom and actor. And i'm a president of sag after i'd been a big fan of gabrielle's since i was in middle school back when she played andrea zuckerman on beverly hills not one. Oh which by the way was my high school. Boyfriend kurtz favorite show. He had every episode on vhs and one time. I lost the episode. Where kelly and dylan hooked up while brenda was in france and he didn't talk to me for like a month anyway. I called gabrielle. To ask her. Why after made this decision the big decision to bring influencers independent creators into their fold influencers we like to call them independent creators and it's not just bringing independent graders within our union. We actually have a lot of our members doing that work. It's a booming part of our industry when you think about it it's Brands recognize it particularly through this pandemic people have really discovered the ability that they're able to use technology to become independent creators as a union. It's really important for us to be. Nimble truth is because we are a part of evolving industry. It's very important that we evolved with it gabrielle. I kinda wanna call her. Gabby by the way. But i don't think we're close enough yet. Gabrielle was quick to tell me that a lot of actors and the talent that they're already working with are already doing influence our work but they also want to bring this new generation of content creators. Fold people who are doing this independent creators or this influence your work. They need to have representation there. It's like the wild wild west out there. There's a benefit for the brands. And it's important for the person who's creating to also have those benefits we wanna make sure they have protections we wanna make sure that their intellectual property because this is you know as a person. Who's doing this kind of work. All you have is yourself so we wanna make sure to protect your image so that is you story tale and you go and move on because not only stay in one universe they wanna be able to have the opportunity to do other things we wanna make sure across the board that they have the protections that they need. They can make a living at what they're doing that. They are able to work with dignity and not to be exploited. I was getting fired hub during this call with all the talk about protecting workers and trading influencers like the serious content creators. They are see whenever. I pitched this. Podcast editors when. I asked them to write about me and to give me press. It gets dismissed as a parenting story. But it's not a parenting story. Mom influencers are a business story. And it's a huge relief that gabrielle. In sag after are treating it like a business now any business there are contracts and requirements that people would need to fulfil the contract that we've established will be something that is it in its success will start to evolve and capture more and more protections but initially if somebody's able to even work under this contract that actually allows them to also pay into a pension and health plan which really is meaningful for people. This is a safety net and he needs a safety net. Creators particularly mom creators. So you're talking about moms. Were doing this work. Which is kind of exciting. I just love that women are constantly in. I say this. I know everybody doesn't but it is really true. Women are constantly reinventing themselves in different ways. I'm so proud. You know to hear that. I just love hearing mom's doing this because it's i know it might be something. They're trying to earn money but also it becomes a form of expression for them right that ability to tell a story in to know that that somebody has their back is great gabrielle's excitement palpable during our call. I could feel it. He was maybe even bigger than my excitement during the high school. Graduation episode of nano to know gabrielle wants influencers to call them. I hope that people follow and look into being a part of this call. Union of questions in we look forward to Celebrating and really lifting up all the individuals who wanted to have the opportunity to be able to do this work in under a protected universe. We wanna be there for them. And i'm excited. I just. i loved the idea that we're being nimble that we're really paying attention to the industry as it transforms and that we are creating a space for people. I love it. Love it to gabby. Just gonna call her. Gabby i hope she's ok. With influencing mom influencing this is a fucking business. It's a business motherfuckers. And i love the people that treat it like when i started this podcast. I was worried that a lot of mom influencers would hate it that they would hate me and some people do because some people hate everything but a lot of them have written to me and said thanks. Thanks i seeing being. Thanks for reporting. On what i do like it. Matters.

If your taste goes, go get tested immediately. So that's how every time I get exposure. I go Read the refrigerator. Make a sandwich. Do I taste this? Yes, I do. Saved 165 bucks on the test. But I've been tested 11 times have all been negative. 11. Yeah. President Trump President Trump Preemptively did something, uh, I find a little humor in this and I'm sure he does, too. Um, what he did. In this very bizarre letter to the union, specifically the Screen Actors Guild sag. They used to have my sad card. Hey, shouted through the union's president yesterday. Where he bragged a bit about his movie parts, you know, and he rallied against any disciplinary process that could have resulted in expelling him. Who cares? I'm very proud of my work on the movies such as Home alone to Zoo Lander, who all street money never sleeps and the television shows, including the Fresh Prince of Bel Air Saturday night Live When the most successful shows in TV history was The Apprentice. And then it was in its high part when he was hosting it. But Trump wrote the letter to the president. Of the SAG AFTRA Union unions and said, Yeah, I'm out. Now the head of the You and it was a A woman by the name of Gabrielle. The terrace. I believe in its car terrorists. She played Andrea Zuckerman on the popular show Beverly Hills. 9021 go Still don't really doesn't ring a bell. But Trump rattle against the news media, including MSNBC and CNN. Claiming to have you know greatly helped Can't television news business? Uh I mean, yeah. They had so much to report on him every day, even if they made it up. They sure kept him in the news, didn't they? Big time. So Last month, the union's national board voted overwhelmingly to convene a disciplinary process against President Trump. That you know, could have revoked his membership. That vote is potentially to expel him that was slated to take place this week. This was prompted after what happened on January the sixth of course. And the union was very specific, inciting Trump's role in the attack. As well as quote. Continuing with a reckless campaign that misinformation aimed at discrediting and ultimately threatened, ultimately threatening the safety of journalists, many of whom are sag. AFTRA members. Um, I don't recall him doing any of that deal. I mean, when, when was gunplay used in anything going on with the guard and the Trump Family Administration? I mean, Uh huh. But the union added if found guilty by committee possible penalties. Penalties include a reprimand, censure, find suspension from the rights and privileges of members. Membership or expulsion from SAG AFTRA. By the way, that's an expensive Union to belong to But he claimed the dysentery process was a blatant attempt at free media attention to distract from your dismal record as a union. Mm. He also added, I'm no Trump. I no longer wish to be associated with your union. As such, this letter is to inform you Of my immediate resignation from SAG AFTRA. You have done nothing for me. You know how they responded. Two words. Thank you. So you can tell that they're running scared? Very scared. You know, And of what I don't think he plans to take anything like this that far. But you never know with this former president. Um Yeah. It's it's One of those things that when I didn't want to get into that, never mind. I was going to go down a whole another path here, But I got to stick to my game plan today. Any comments on this? Not that There's much to comment on, you know, but President Trump saying no more to SAG and AFTRA. I mean, it's amazing to think that he belongs to the union where I would admit probably 97% of the rank and file hate his guts. And for that reason alone, I wish he would just stay in there. Just stay in there. You know, and we still have yet to have historic accounting of everything that he's done. You know the restoration of the military military the creation finally of a sustainable energy policy where we don't have to depend on other countries for for energy. I mean, we'll hear more and more about this a little bit later today, but You know, that's the score. That's what's been going on. All of these things that benefited you hear me Say this all the time. They benefit all liberals, all conservatives, progressives. Whatever you wanna call you. Yourself. All of these are Great things that are not really political. It's the old right and wrong routine. Yeah. You know they've got politics written all over them now and that's causing. Ah lot of problems. And I'm sure the Republicans would just like to get up and move on and move away from all the criticism from Hollywood in the rest. Yes. But You know they're not doing anything for themselves In a positive way. Mitch McConnell The head of the Senate. Former One of the idiot that guy's turned out to be. Wow from one of the president's staunchest supporters. To somebody who absolutely turned tail and showed President Trump his backside. What happened to loyalty..

Whatever organization and so she was the one that was at the forefront of, you know, dealing with putting together this disciplinary committee to have him expelled to revoke his membership. And so he, Donald Trump wrote them a letter and said, I write to you today regarding the so called disciplinary committee hearing aimed at revoking my union membership. Who cares? And then he went on to say I'm not familiar with your work. But I'm very proud of my work on movies like home alone to Zulu Lander. And then he says, This brings me to your blatant attempt at free media attention to distract from your dismal record as a union. Your organization has done little for its members and nothing for me besides collecting dues and promoting dangerous UN American policies and ideas, as evidenced by your massive unemployment rates and lawsuits from celebrated actors who even recorded a video asking, why isn't the union fighting for me? And he left it by saying I no longer wish to be associated with your union. As such, this letter is to inform you of my immediate resigning from Sag AFTRA. You have done nothing for me. So the Screen Actors Guild, which is like the Hollywood like the unions and Hollywood actors have to join a street screen actors like two teachers unions. Except for for for actors. I'm very proud of my work on movies such as home alone to Zoo Lander Wall Street. The television shows, including the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Saturday night Live and, of course, one of the most successful shows in TV history. The Apprentice. Just to name a few. I'd also greatly help the cable news television business said to be a dying platform with not much time left until I got involved in politics and created thousands of jobs, if not more networks such as AMs DNC and fake news CNN blah, blah, blah. He basically goes on to write. I no longer wish to be associated with your union. This letter is to inform you of my immediate resignation from SAG. One twenty feet tall and size eight shoe to is often found at carrot parties three lakes orange. I'm Katie couric until next time. Keep Your eyes on NBC. October second? I mean this just in. I got abducted by aliens and they sucked me up. I believe then they are going to boil my head and acid superman will come and rescue me and everybody will be happy but will he stay tuned. I covered a lot of news stories as Katie couric from giant carrots to celebrities. Spice break-up no one can believe it but ginger spice has left the Spice Girls Group. Ginger told people she left because she had had enough fame for one person. But that's not the real reason ginger left because she had a fight with baby spice but why there is no reason because she never had a fight with baby. She had a fight with scary space because ginger wanted to be the leader of the spice. Girls Ginger is what books call white trash from England? Hi this is Katie couric here. Digging up old things and Mexico. So far I have found three baskets for pots and five tools. I have even done research on them. Do you want me to tell you about it. Okay I we found the baskets and lots of the baskets were woven and dipped into paint to look good. We also found tools to dig up gems gems though. I also like to put myself in other people's shoes like a good journalist should sometimes not people's shoes though. Sometimes animals shoes here is a story based on the observations of Turkey. Turkey confessional by both. I should have known they have been feeding me too much. Thanksgiving is coming up as you can see. I am a Turkey and I and I know I am going to be eaten here. The Robinson's got me when I was a baby so they could not eat me but this year they have been giving me a lot to eat and I am scared. I'm going to end up on their table. I tried everything I have gone on a diet. I have gotten those slimfast things with which tastes like something died. I even got a Nordic Track Ono. Here they come. They did not eat me. They made me into a pilgrim decoration. Instead the end the moral is never say something until you know it's going to happen. I wrote fake news stories for about five years because it felt like something you could write in a journal that deviated from the regular woe is me actually right before. I started writing my journalist. Katie couric where? My Dad stayed at home with us because he had gotten laid off from one of his jobs and he had a camera because he had a few of them and he used to let me make videos at home videos where I am absolutely giving a fake news report. I felt really proud of him for what he did. And being able to pretend to be Katie couric was like somehow kind of paying homage to like my dad and his world. My last Katy Kirk report that I have is very. Meta moment where she was actually reporting about me. Hi I'm Katie couric today. We went to Saint Peter's score. I met a great student who is going to change the world. Her name is vote. She wants to be her school president. She will win. But for now all I have to say is I'm Katie couric. Thank you so much for watching and I hope to see you tomorrow night..

We're all doing the same show. That's the same here. It's very weird. I feel like we have we saturated the market because saint dodson's did this three months prior they did. "And this is gonna sound again, very like college freshmen, but I think that likability describes the tension between what women are supposed to be. And what these women are trying to be. And they're like is that string between what she's supposed to be in what she's trying to be still intact. Is she enough of what we want a woman to be wild trying to be what a woman is not supposed to be. And it's like this impossible bind that women are in when they want to run for office. And I think this cycle around. It's it's become kind of. I don't know. I've I found it more annoying than ever. And I I don't know how you feel about it. But where where do you stand? So we'll have to say one thing because no like you, and I talk a lot about nuance. And so there was something that popped front of mine when I was thinking about likability. And it was when I was on the John Kerry for president campaign in two thousand three and two thousand four the biggest hurdle that he had to overcome was also like. Ability people were like, well, no, I don't wanna have a beer with him. I want to have a beer with George Bush. And so I think that like we all need to just reassess. What the fuck we mean by likeability, and why it may be matters or doesn't matter. But this time, I think that, you know, look, it's what is what does the thing. The first thing I saw in this cycle. I think was that stupid article about like is Elizabeth Warren gonna end up like Hillary Clinton. Like, what does that even mean? Right. They're playing really don't for his what does that even mean? They're completely different people. And I think that that's kind of my problem with the whole like media addressing the issue of likeability because what does it mean? Because Hillary and Elizabeth Warren are both very different people save the fact, they have sort of blonde hair. Yeah. I think that I think that's really that's really interesting. And I almost think that it's a it's a symptom of. Laziness in hacky, nece people who are going through this dance want there to be a predictable arc to it. They want there to be a narrative to it. And they they hearken back to old narratives and old assessments and old ways that things turned out. So like, they want the story to be okay. Who's the who's the Cinderella of this can of this campaign who's the bitch who's the this? And I think that they go back right and fill things in a way. That's just like it's boring, and it's hacky, but it's also destructive because in creating these narratives they limit the imagination of the voter. And they decide what a leader looks like. And they decide what an upstart looks like they decide what a woman who's gotten too big for her britches looks like, and I think that that's what likeability is. It's like asking the question is an implicit decision that this woman has she's something about her doesn't you know, what she's just a little woman. You know, do you know what it is? It's kind of like this this field in particular. I feel like the media should just come out and be like who's Andrea Zuckerman who's Kelly Taylor who's Donna Martin. And who is Brenda? The evil brunette. I saw smart and likeable, but not sexy school paper editor right like and also what's the winning combination? Right. Well, a lot of it is people who don't ever interact with normal people trying to decide what normal people want to do. And they they're they've decided I think like it's funny just being a small town in being from the midwest seeing what people on the coast think of the people where I grew up. It's like, oh, that's interesting in totally wrong. It's like when a when a child who's never gone to work tries to play office. It's like well. No, we don't send that many faxes. You know, like, you know, you're talking about. Well, also in to me, there is a chasm between relate ability and likeability. So like to me, I give zero box if someone can drink a beer, guess what? I can't digest beer nothing for me to be able to be like, oh my God..

I've ever seen is Beverly on Lonzo ball Lonzo ball's first game in the NBA. Look that up online, dude. He's all over him all over him. Do you remember that s miserable for LeBron? Lebron had like twenty six eight and six last maybe he would have had thirty six. I agree with Mark on this one. Yeah. Maybe that was one Beverly wasn't on. Maybe it wasn't. But that's the thing too. Is everyone is telling out LeBron his numbers are almost identical to last year. I know he's his leadership hasn't been good. But twenty seven eight nine well, he also singlehandedly blew up the locker room by trying to trade for Anthony Davis. But he's been doing that for years. Yeah. I know true. Not the first one I've been smoking some pot. Yup. I need something called the Drake right there. He does a slurpee is good. Six five theorists is speaking of Laker gifts from last night. You guys see coups malignancy shoving LeBron to play d that's going around to LeBron's hanging out by the elbow. And there's a shadow of the shooter open on the wing and kouzmines shoves LeBron more and more of that you've seen LeBron just really cash out during defensive when when they're playing defense. He's just kinda chilling now. Eight one eight says the warriors need a throwback dominant win at oracle tonight for dubbed nation in the dying days of oracle well, without without Igwe, dolla, and clay that would be a hell of a statement.
