"Play immediately which might not independent of everything else be the most surprising thing in the world but the idea that he got it on. May Twenty seven. That is a little bit surprising. How did they knock that out so quickly? I think I have an answer to the question of the question. Go Pretty Simple People. The answer to the question. Why did ask somebody connected to the whole situation like a good for you because I always root for the players to get waivers I? It's crazy that they have to so. I'm never disappointed when somebody actually gets one but I a little surprise. Sometimes when people get them and especially surprise what had happened to May twenty seventh. What I was told is that from the NC Double A.'S PERSPECTIVE. It was a softball case and the case was rooted in this. Johnny using is from Southern California lives like fifteen minutes grew up fifteen minutes from UCLA campus. He was in school at Kentucky. Pandemic hits he wants to get back closer to home. Any literally. Early goes as close to home as he could get which is. Ucla young man during a pandemic. You want to be closer to your family. That's fine with us. Stay up approval. You get a waiver to play immediately now. If we're being honest we think Johnny dusing really transferred back home because of the pandemic like the way I would apply for the waiver as well but like it's also true that he didn't play very much. It's a freshman probably wasn't gonNA play very much as a sophomore. He was going to get out of there anyway and I think it's interesting that he might have done exactly what he was going to do. In fact I think probably would have even without the pandemic which is leave. Kentucky go to Ucla but because of the pandemic you can say well. That's really why I did it. And what does the instead? We're GONNA do argue with your motive. So they stamped it. He's good to go good for him but it is It is an interesting situation. I got a question for you John Wooden Ever GonNa sit out transferring eligible. No I read the wikipedia. I read the set Davis Book and it wasn't in there anyway. Johnny Jews Zang's getting immediately eligible in nineteen sixty seven are they. Hey old timers tell me give me an example of John. Wooden Johnny dusing eligible in May sit out. Transfer turned into an immediate player. Just like that that he thought John Wooden on the sidelines and twenty twenty right now you throw Johnny choosing in his backyard. He doesn't know what to do. He doesn't he's lost. He does not know how to handle this. Mick Cronin I mean. Parents gave a nice answer but come on. We know everyone knows the real answer here macron and he got it done. You know what the rules don't apply and that's going to be forever the case with Mick Cronin at Ucla because this world is going to go away next year he's going to be batting thousand at UCLA. Sit Out transfers you. Mick Gangsta. Love Janis by the way average. Two point nine points. One Point Nine Rebounds Play Twenty eight percent of Kentucky's minutes. I would be listen. I'm sure he the formerly obviously a well rounded player he gets to Kentucky. That's kind of the deal there. He had a couple of moments. I think in a UK uniform where I could say. Yeah Dude seems like he's good. I have no idea how much of an impact he's going to make a good on. Ucla in getting him though because if he can tap into something that can provide potential eight points ten points points a game obviously. Ucla would really prefer to have that after losing. They don't play the same position or anything. But you know you get what you can get. Here they lose Dacian Knicks now. They get juicing immediately eligible good on him but what you did say is important to keep in mind when we talked about Mac McClellan and James Kinjo in any other high profile guy out there that you wanna that you WANNA pick out. That's going to apply for a waiver if they are not transferring back home truly back home to a school exceedingly close choosing you say grew up fifteen minutes away that might be nor star for anyone. That's seeking immediate eligibility in college. Basketball suggest be sure to To keep that in mind and if we look up at the end of October November whenever the season is about to start and most of these waivers have been handled. A common thread there. I wouldn't be surprised. Giuseppe is just the first we wait and see philly the last but like every. Here's the problem because I had a radio show this afternoon Memphis and they were like some listeners. Like hey if the kid from Kentucky got a a waiver to play immediately at UCLA. Then what about landers molly or Andre Williams because Memphis has to sit out transfers right now? Who both of them would probably start from emphasis at this point like they. They matter lender. Sallie averaged fifteen points per game the ACC and the problem is landers knowledge from Atlanta transferred to Memphis. It's not really any closer than Virginia. Tech is and the Andre Williams is from Houston transferred to Memphis if he wanted to play the pandemic guard he needed to call Kelvin Sampson and go to Houston Not Memphis. So it's interesting like it just works perfectly for juicing but the idea that it's going to work the pandemic quote unquote pandemic is going to work. Perfectly for all other transfers or even most of the transfers. I'm I'm not sure I see that. Yeah the you could be correct about that. And I assume we're going to this player next week when he expected to commit. Who was a twenty twenty one top ten guy reclassified twenty twenty and so classmates with my son? That's right we've talked about on the before. That's that's correct so anyway. Untutored him so well that he was able to get out of high school a year early. Put that on your college application. You got to be breaking the skits commitment okay. Thank you know what I'll be completely honest with. Stayed completely out of it and the reason is because fans are crazy it is true. It's not only that my son moved to go to the same school. They were in the same year. They were both juniors this year and they were in the same classes and my son literally helped tutoring after school. Sometimes right and so let. My son could text him right now. I'm I'm assuming that you're certainly hit him up on snapchat or something like their their best friends. Movies never been to my house but they know each other and so my fans are so crazy. Here's what would happen if he goes to Memphis Kentucky fans will be Parish had a was it using his son and what if IT GOES TO KENTUCKY MEMPHIS FANS will be the same memphis terrorist hates his alma mater and he pushed because he loves John. Calipari pushed him to Kentucky. Like people are just wacko. They Co doesn't matter. What would happen somehow? Somebody would want to say I had a role when make it happen? So I'm like I haven't even asked. I actually asked my son today. Did you see or did you hear that moves to finally reclassified? He said Yeah I saw it and then I left it there. I didn't what do you think he's going to do or have you talked to him about it. I don't even I didn't want to get involved. You might have a rough next week coming for you though because like people people I swear to God like whether it's message boards or social media or like a facebook fan page. I don't see most of it because I just I. Just stay away from it but I. I'm not exaggerating. Eighty percent of the things I read about myself not about my columns or about my radio show but like hey I heard Gary.

"And running hot. I am absolutely running hat. I just read this little thing from Kyle. Tucker about The situation with be Andre Williams Deandra Williams is the transfer that where he played all eighteen games. Guys Journey has been everywhere and explicit dead. And now he's got this guru guy all right or some visor are quote unquote handler. Right who basically I think. It's Kenneth Roy. Basically came out on on radio. I don't care where to keep those to school and actually I got a chance to visit Penny Hardaway this year and I was really liked. But basically he basically said Kentucky they didn't play by viral holes. You don't play like my rules. You have no chance to get my guy. I control this. They talked to the kid who actually is the prospect and become to the Mother Kentucky. Right which is obviously what you would do if you're in a recruiting process in a legitimate situation but my man came out and said forget about this. They went behind my back. I control the situation all right first of all. Who is Kenneth Roy? Secondly let me give you a little history of Data Williams twenty sixteen went to high school in. Houston some Papa Pretzel Hope School. I've never heard of it twentieth. Seventeen all he was missing in action. Neither do anything we can find out where did was twenty eight thousand. He went to Oklahoma City to play for some other pop up prep school where Kenneth Roy was his coach. He was ineligible so he went to Evansville non-qualifier he played eighteen games. Two guys twenty four years old right now. Twenty four years old you and your mother and this guy gets on a radio station in Memphis and basically expound and this is the problem I understand. You got to recruit to circle of influence when you're crew kit but this is the problem. The focal point of the recruitment is the prospect and his parents. And at this guy is I don't know the guy but he's obviously absolute joke and this is the problem. We have in college basketball right now. This is the problem we have moving forward. If you have the one time exception quiet rather I mean you are. You're preaching to the choir. Look it's one thing if somebody has done a great job for it's one thing if if you've really excelled on a disguise to legend maybe maybe maybe the player has made. Maybe he asked. But it's it's another thing when you as a handler quote handler. Enabler to I do too. But it's a it's another thing when you start putting your ego in front of what the Hell's going on with the player. I mean look if I am a handler of a player. I'm thrilled to death. That Kentucky wants them. I'm thrilled to death. That MEMPHIS wants. I'm thrilled to death and I have respect for those particular places because one one year ago or one year from now. Nobody's going to remember the player and nobody's going to remember the Ham. That's just you and I have seen this so many times. How important these guys are. And then at the end of the day history dictates. We're not gonNA see the best thing you can do it but this is what people want. This is what our colleagues wanted. Espn this is what our colleagues in the media want everything is supposed to be done for the player and the player is never wrong. Let's get handlers and ball and let's take the coach out of it which is asinine which is ridiculous and the idea. I've heard so many of our colleagues say well the guy's not gonNA fall. You let players transfer well. You know what this guy didn't didn't fall if that's the level when players didn't transfer when players listened to coach. There's a great picture of Michael Jordan. Ali Unbelievable Dean Smith listening to a coach and it worked out pretty well for him. It doesn't work out for these guys that listen to the quote unquote handlers And I'm it by. I'M ACTUALLY MATT. Painter was on my show. Just Rip Reysen is Izzo. Came on and then Frank. Martin came on my radio show. I just wish more coaches would stand up and say this is crap because all we hear from is a media that doesn't know will never and never know it's funny. I twin something out on this. I got a text message immediately from Frank Martin Greenie. I just saw this tweet. I have no idea who this kid is or what happened. However why doesn't anyone ever speak about? These are the issues that we have a college coach as college coaches. Why don't call that? Are being held hostage by fools like that guy. All the new wave recruiting service guys have made that guy popular us. Bad guys hundred percent Babe Frank Martin. Those right how about how about you. Stand up and you say look. I'm not going to buy. How about not buying stuff from these guys? How about eliminating these guys? How about not? That's on Frank Mart. In my opinion. That's that Frank Martin can whine about. We're being held hostage but to me. This is on the coach. And this is what I've been trying to do. And Frank was great on my show is it was great. Painter was off the charts. How `Bout we? How about we as coaches or they coaches. I'm not a coach. Stand up for yourselves. Quick Look Matt. Do you remember the day I remember doing this coming? In the Indiana's basketball offers from bowling green. I was the director of OPS. And all of a sudden I looked and the dudes the assistance in Indiana have bought six of one guy service like so they can get in with some idiot. recruiting Guy Stop. Don't demand we're only going to deal with coaches. Wurley going deal with parents. We're only going to deal with the kid. Other coaches coaches can wind about it man up and stop it. I'll look I'm I'll tell you what my last year at tech I went. We were spending a ungodly amount of money in scattered services. I bought a guy and I said put him on the board. All right. We're cutting this thing and half. This is ridiculous I said I. I used the word I said. We're getting held hostage by these guys. I mean it's our job to evaluate. Here here's the problem. I don't need these gurus to evaluate players to me. I mean like like seriously. That's what that's what staff is for. That's what that's what your job is. Identify and evaluate all right. So I'M GONNA listen to some guy that absolutely first of all has an agenda and is clueless and he's going to impact my my success or I'm GonNa let him hold hostage because I can get maybe a home visitor. Come on that I'm saying Chicago. I mean you'd be a break. That's what I'm saying. Coaches came together and soon doing it instead instead ridiculous. It's almost like this It's almost like current me if I'm wrong. The high end guys deal through shoe companies. The Not quite the high end guys deal with the handler. The the guy the and then the rest of the People Kinda just recruit to me. You eliminate this eliminate your the coaches. It's your you're being paid a TON OF MONEY. Do Your job eliminate the clowns and let's go but don't quit whining about. You're not held hostage by anybody. You allow yourself to be held hostage. Look at now. I think that's a good point. I I'm GONNA be interested. We're going to have Roy Williams on today and we need to talk to obviously about the last dance. I'd like to talk to coach about the evolution of Michael Jordan from where he was in Wilmington North Carolina as a high school junior Iran. I remember story five star to the end of the last dance. I made like coaches coaches. Seen it from beginning to end up close and impersonal. I I I'm fascinated to ask about that. You know the greatest thing about i. I've never really heard. Lebron James have a handler. I'm never really heard Kobe Brian Handler. I've never really heard Michael Jordan have had handler. I never heard. Patrick Ewing have had a hand trick. Person ever really had a handler. Why is it that the great players? The great players don't have handlers but these guys that have been to twenty four schools at twenty four years old. Have handlers. Your it's amazing to me like even Zion Williamson and all this crap that that he may or may not be involved in hell s through his parents. Why is it that? Why is it that these great players don't have handlers? But the slaps do it's. It's interesting to me coach. Williams. What's going on? Hi how we feel by the way I coach Williams by accident. Edco take this because I've been spirit by accident. Facetime return call the day and actually that's the limited capabilities to think. He's actually missed Wanda but but so she's on the phone while he's talking to me and he's got this beer going right now. I mean he looks like the most interesting man in the world you could be doing like those commercials right now it's unborn beard is just it? Looks Marvelous. Said quit? Suck IT UP. Son Radio Show for crying really more. What the Hell I J J. Right hat as it. It's almost disappointed because you know I mean like J. Reid is like George Clooney and it's all gravy. It just kill you. You got the gray hair so we knew you. Let's face you know spring chicken coach. I had cut. I had to trim it because it was getting so long that I was fiddling with like all my players. They fiddled with their hair. You know when they do all the different things with their hair and we're in a team meeting every two or three guys up their hands at the hair us. You'll leave your hair loan. Pay attention got wanted to give them a fair to trim so that was a couple of days ago. Got a question for you Dan. I was just talking about this. We started saying we sit like you're watching last dance. You lived last dance from the beginning to the very end like evolution of Michael from where he was as a kid in Wilmington Nia same at the end of the show. Like what what was going through your mind you know. It's a good terminology to their seth because I remember seeing him when he was seventeen years old. Come to our camp and That spring before and I'd call what we thought were all the best players say you're North Carolina and some in South Carolina Virginia to try to get them to come to our campus. We sit up but to you. GotTa Pay But Michael Cain and I had been the GM three different. Twenty minute sessions in a three hour period on Sunday and in Eddie Kogler. That did you see anybody liked it. So that may AC- the Best six-foot-four-inch high school I've ever seen. He said blankety blank. Who was that? And I said Michael Jordan and by the end of the week coach Smith was having a dinner and lunch with breakfast.

"When I I read this name first name that came came first person that came to my mind was Pat FitzGerald, you have terrific college play a really productive. I remember the first one I really spent any time with him. I went to to northwestern probably like ten years ago, and at the end of our conversation on the couch, and I was like so what happened with you in the NFL? Like, how are you like so productive in college? And he basically talked about you know, he had a couple of trials basically was kind of realize he just did not have the athletes zone to to stick in the NFL guy was a back to back buckets award winner and was inducted into the college football team ten years ago. And my election is he didn't even he he didn't even get on. A he didn't even make it out of the may mini camp. I think the athletes pieces is is interesting to look at especially when it comes to two linebackers because there are guys. And I I think there's something to what he says. I mean, I could also point out running back is really hard to to figure out 'cause you see guys a couple of guys who led the nation in rushing Andre Williams from BC done nothing in the NFL codeine Kerry from Arizona did nothing in the NFL Deontay Freeman Dante form and I'm sorry from Texas who is he's been injured yet to do much. So you get guys get into systems where they could be the bell cow. And they just pile up stats. Chris Carson's been a really good NFL running back, and it wasn't like he was he was amazing at Oklahoma state. So I think running back is a little bit tricky because of the systems, but I'll give you some names here to me the alternate. Ultra productive was superman as college. This is gonna be. Yeah. There's there's a boy in this house. Who's lucky his first name is Scooby. So let me read these stats 'cause they're still they're still ridiculous led the nation tackles with one hundred sixty three twenty nine Tf ELS led the nation by by quite a bit fourteen sacks six four fumbles. And that was on an a team that went one ten games. If there was a guy, you know, meant tail had seven interceptions in that. That's really good too. I'd very few Tf ELS wasn't like his numbers were ridiculous. Scooby's numbers were frigging ridiculous. He played in the NFL for you know, on an offer about two years Tigray scales. Really productive big-play guy for Indiana. Fringe NFL guy. There's one coming up right now. Ben Burke Irvin..

"My sports lifetime. Because he will do that every once in a while 'cause I long have we you guys remember when we were having conversations about who's got the best quarterback in the AFC east after Brady, and we were arguing all the pills found a quarterback Fitzpatrick and you're like, no, the jets have won and Sanchez. Awesome as a cowboy and their inexplicably running their offense through what's get outta here, the Cowboys offense is constipated. They don't have it says Brian had to enjoy watching that game yesterday. Right? Oh, go to his Twitter account. He did. He did the desk, Brian thing that you would expect. Everybody went to his Twitter account post game to see if he would say the things and he said the things, what are the things that were said? Just everything thing that does Brian. Thanks man, and it's white noise at this point. Well, it's not white, and but you need the exact. The exact way to with Dez is doing right. I mean, just enjoying it again on bell. Put on an emoji a monocle. He put up the Monica Lhamo. Gina, the Monaco emoji. Brown. I mean, I don't even think about what we're trying to decode there. There's a tie game, the guy who backed him up, you know, ran for a bunch of Connor ran for a bunch yard. He fumbled, but he ran for a bunch yards. Terrible haircut awful haircuts. Where did he come from? What's his college? He went to, I believe he went to Pitt. He's a kid that was he physically bigger before was Connor physically? Was he like a bruiser type of big back before he looks smaller to me. Now it's another one from one of those like Pennsylvania schools that was a backup. That was a bigger said, but Conner's a guy that had like cancer and he overcame that. And now he's got a terrible haircut, that's the guy who was hard. Knock jets, John Connor the Terminator throwback. That's why. Okay. Yeah, he's out of the league. I think. No, it's making more sense what you thought you thought the Terminator was running for one hundred. I didn't. You know what? I actually thought. I, I'm glad we're having this conversation on air. I'm trying. I was trying to think, and I'm like, I think I've seen that guy before at Boston College, but he was bigger. I thought Boston College. That's where my starting point dot, and then I never thought about it again. I didn't look it up on Google. I just came in here and asked you, and that's how all of that just happened. John is already a former NFL player. Okay. Okay. So I think you were thinking of Andre Williams who is bigger, who played for the giants. And I think it's no Leo Andre, the giant is no. I'm not thinking of Andre, the giant, but he played at Boston College. I remember how excited you were when Andre, the giant had good Monday night game. We had him on the next day. He was was Andre Brown, and that was a Thursday night game. No, it wasn't Andre Brown Mitro about that. It was Andre, the giant Andre. The giant was entree Brown, and then I believe they drafted a couple of years later, Andre Williams, the poetry, writing VC, running back. Andre Brown actually came Sudi that Andre, the giant and intern for us for a day. What am I supposed to say about the dolphins? Guts, we've got a minute left before we start the national show. Just be excited that they're one and I'll just be excited one in, oh, they have the jets coming up next week and then the raiders at home. I mean, the dolphins are staring at a three and start, and this is exciting. Chris, Chris Cody predicted a six and one start. Then they lose the final four though. So they got to get off to a good start. They want to shut. As all laughed. You all laughed. I said this. You're gloating your gloating at one annot as as if six and one is already here. I wasn't impressed by them yesterday, but I called it. It's a big win. It's a group match and you just took it to the titans. They have a loss that they have to overcome when you inevitably get to. Tiebreakers. That's great analysis, man. That's right. It's a big win because an avenue. Ably you're going to need that tiebreaker..

"I am sitting at the table. I've placement, I have silverware. I have a nice glass of wine. I have a plate. You don't have in my life wine. Shut on my plate. Okay. Sorry, I have ice tea. Okay. My plate is empty, and all my appetite is telling me is you gotta get some takes in your belly. All right. And I need you. You're serving me tie the last time. I gave a take a had aware a pilgrim out at our live show. I don't Lau. Okay. So you reveal that. Sorry, I need to just give me your shape. Patterson limited data. Do you envision a situation in which if shape Patterson is very good if he has one of the best, say, twelve QB ratings in the country or something like that is completing sixty five percent of his pass Dalby very good for Michigan than their title contender. Yeah, I agree with that. Thank I all I'm getting full-ti-. Ooh, belly. Spell getting rounder. You know, I feel like you and I got a little bit of a little bit of animosity here today, and I kind of like it then the season's about to start Haina like it. This is what they're going for on the TV nowadays. Who is this year's Royce Freeman type back guidance, third or fourth year that has been well above average for his career, but for some reason doesn't get the national media attention deserves. I'm gonna give such a boring answer and say Damian Harris. Yeah, because he has been so consistently very good, but a Cy we had a really good crop of freshmen redshirt freshman running backs. Last year, are there. Any backs you miles Gaskin. I think miles to stay in the miles Gaskin probably north west. Yeah. I would say that that falls under as well. I'm going to stick with writing backstage tie. Thomas wants to know what does David Montgomery is stat line starting running back. Iowa State can be very good need to look like his stat line need to look like to get an invite New York at the end of the season on a three, four or five loss, Iowa State team, man. He's two thousand yards, say two thousand yards and like twenty two touchdowns something crazy. I don't think the touchdowns are has importance. I think they are important, but two thousand yards gets you to Andre Williams and Andre Williams. And I wanna say twenty thirteen played for c. team that went to a bowl game. They relate in four, seven, five or something like that. Two thousand is in uninsurable number. When I think that's the answer. Yeah. Okay. That makes sense. Sure. Yeah, two thousand. Next, let's go to Michael wants to know how can we get a ring tone of the dude alert sound bite? Can we isolate that and just post it. Sorry at that came through very loud for you, Dan. No, that was good. We could probably post that somewhere. Let's post that dude alert shirt we should. I don't think suburban legends has a copyright on dude alerts. No, those are two words that I think we can..

"So what I feel like I almost pissed off every single person that I interviewed because I was just, we hear you on camera when you're seeing now with gasoline. Horvath you say, you look a little nervous, which doesn't seem like the kind of thing you say to put someone at ease, but she but it was true. She was. She wasn't herbs and Kathleen is amazing. I remember, you know, she was so so honest and so vulnerable and she, she made herself so vulnerable in camera, and I have such affection for all of the characters in this movie because each interview felt almost like a therapy session, I think for me as well them and specially Kathleen, I think. 'cause Kathleen was the person who, as she says in the movie, never really. Like she had gotten real closure. She does expected Nick really betrayed her. And she'd expected Nikko somehow acknowledged at some point is life or in their lives, and she never got that. And then I recently saw Kathleen and she came to dock. And why. Russia came to NYC. She came to Hamptons, and she came to true false and truthful. She watched. I think twelve movies and Kellyanne is is incredible. And she had said to me certain at one point always been waiting for Nick to give me some kind of closure. But you know. After after the movie came out, he called me. He's like, cathlene. You did a great job. Baby did a great job, you know. And it was like as if he was just giving her a compliment as if she was still his tennis pupil and not really what the content of the great job was not at all. And and then she said that ever since the movie came out, she's been accepting invitations to player events. She's been going to film festival. She's been doing Cuny's and all the stuff she had never done before. And she felt like the movie actually given her a sense of closure that because it wasn't anything that Nick could ever give her. It was something that she did on her own. So that was actually one of the best things. And if I were to play devil's advocate against what I was saying earlier about the efficiency of documentary to make actual change, you know, every once in a while, I do think that certain things happen in production. Usually, from my perspective. Every production is a life altering experience. I never really thought about it from the perspective of the people who are being interviewed, but in certainly Kathleen's circumstance, she, this was cathartic experience for her. I think that's what she would say. And so that's that's, I think very cool. Thank Jason cone. "He's so it's getting much tougher for somebody like nick chubb who may struggle to get through the whole who might struggle to turn the corner and get to the edge to be able to have much success at the nfl level when the defense is going up against are going to be much quicker and more athletic so that that to me is red flag because what that tells me is okay he just his his upside is not going to be there because he's not gonna be that he's not going to be a dynamic player because he doesn't have that skill set so he's gonna be relegated to probably short yard situations goal line maybe early downs and we've seen running backs that like that that have been successful i mean matt forte might be good example map forte was a great pass catcher so he's kind of a different category when i look in trouble i think of somebody like an andre williams who had a really good collegiate career with boston college came to the giants in just similar type build to twenty was kind of more of an inline runner wasn't very explosive any kind of flamed out so that that'd be my com for nick chub and that worries me because a player like that is the type of player they're going to be good for in fantasy they have to go to a team where they're going to get a lot of touches they're gonna be very dependent on getting ball him and we see with all the situations won't talk about in a little bit like there's not many situations where those touches are going to be available in bulk especially on your one right.
