"Need indeed. No, that's a 100% true, guys. There are some very strict rules if you work for the Lakers and how you cover them. So yeah. Here we get to vent and complain. Yeah, exactly. Alberto Flores said the Lakers are a few games out of falling out of the play in tournament. What micro goals would you like to see new coach when we just talked about that, but developing young guys and G league players, yes. Yeah. I mean, let's bring up the gigli guys and here's the thing. You've got 22 games left. Maybe a couple more in the play in. Let's face it. Even if they win in the play and tournament, are they getting back to the first round, probably not. Okay? But the question now for this team becomes, what do you get out of what's left? If you just say it's over, it's done. We're getting nothing from it. Well, then this season truly is a waste, right? Then it really is a lost season because you've got nothing from it. Why don't you try to get whatever you can? And maybe it's not much, but country Andre Jordan. The Lakers I know they don't want to pay them the money or whatever, but cut some of the older guys at the end of the bench that you know aren't going to be back next year anyway. Bring up some of the south bay guys and give them some minutes. Give them a shot. Is it going to hurt? Compared to where things are right now? Probably not. At least give them some opportunity and who knows, maybe you stumble upon something that can actually fit that could be useful for next season. What's the harm in doing that and potentially you can benefit moving forward at least you can get something out of the remainder of the season rather than just, well, let's run out the clock and then go from there. After seeing Deandre Jordan basically he will pass into the tenth row. And then he said my bad. And they said, I got such a good laugh. I saw it live, and I was like, who would you point to? I'll say this. It also occurred to me too. This is probably the end of Deandre Jordan's career..

"Thirsty Andre Jordan as well, who got minutes early in the season. So the Lakers ranked 28th in free throw percentage. That hurts as well. That takes away some of your offensive efficiency. And it blocks their 6th in the NBA. Even with them going small so much and running LeBron at center, they still sit 6th in the NBA in blocks per game. That's nice. You'll take that. Field goal percentage, they're tenth in the NBA. Again, not bad. They do a lot of work in the paint. Anthony Davis is still pretty efficient scoring near the basket. LeBron obviously can get to the rim. Russell Westbrook, he can still get to the rim finishing there. It's hot and cold, but the bottom line the Lakers do a decent amount of work in the paint. And so tenth and field will percentage overall. 7th in steals, we said that forcing turnovers was going to be important for this Lakers team coming into the season because where they could really hurt teams is in transition. That's where you can make use of Russell Westbrook's speed. So 7th instills, that's pretty good. You want those live ball turnovers. So why aren't the Lakers better when you add all that stuff up when you got to hear the blocks, the field goal percentage the steals? That suggests that they should be better than where they are in offensive rating defensive rating net ratings. So what's the problem? Well, the problem is actually it's offensive rebounds. There are 26 in the NBA in office rebounds. They're actually middle of the pack defensively in terms of holding opponents to a low field goal percentage and a low three point percentage. They're not bad in terms of keeping opponents percentages down. Now the hawks aside, the hawk shot 58% from the field, but in general on the season, the Lakers are doing a pretty good job of making teams missed shots. The problem for the Lakers has been, once they get a mess, they often don't secure the rebound..

"It was I went shock you a jog. I've got I've got the bills and the bucks with the bills getting the win. I had bills, packers with packers. Yeah. Interesting. All right. Somebody said, are you a doctor's fan? Yes. Yes. Go daughters. Let's check out our sister site. Dodge blue. They do some great work, even have a great YouTube channel. They do. Joel embiid for Russ and AD 70 sixers are not trading Joel embiid. Especially after not to be honest. Should we see more zone defense three two or two three? Against teams that can shoot. That's where you run into problems with it. So I don't think that's something that you can do, zone is very good situation. I need to junk up a game. But pacers did that tonight to the Lakers. Yeah, I was just the guy to say that. If we're going to actually talk about the game for a little bit, I thought that sorry. Yeah, there are moments and I think the second and third quarter where they busted out his own. And I was like, oh, here we go. Here is the two or three possessions where the Lakers don't know what to do until they finally realize, oh, let's flash LeBron to the middle so that he can collapse the defense and then he can kick out the shooters properly. Yeah. But sorry, to the questions point, though, zone is good to break up the monotony of whatever coverages you're using. But then eventually teams will figure that out pretty quick. Especially at three, so you don't really see three two too often in the NBA. That's more of a college high school thing. But yeah, two three zone same thing. It'll muck up a possession and close off driving lanes, teams will settle for shots. That's what you hope for. And then eventually they'll adjust. And so that's why teams don't run into exclusively for long stretches. Lords of the sky said with AD due to be back, what would be the best game to ease him back into after Orlando, the four games after that are going to be tough. To me, it's whenever he's physically out. Whenever he's ready, I'm not worried about, oh, we need to find the right match up. Just when he's available. He needs rest. Yeah, he does. He's missed. And he needs time and press a lot of time too. He just got cleared for contact. He's going to need some time in practice. I'm anticipating it being more towards the end of the road trip than the beginning. I would too. Vector nova said at least THT was good tonight and hit his threes, played good defense, had 7 assists, also hit numerous mid range shots. I don't understand why the poll for Westbrook when THT was hot, I mean, guys have to rest at some point, but Vogel also pulled Westbrook down the stretch. So if you had just written out the rest of the game with Th1 and had been upset, somebody said, what's the Lakers record when the big three plays? They're like 7. But like a bunch of those games were with the Andre Jordan stone the.

"But seeing the difference between that roster, this roster is the Lakers don't have that kind of flexibility to make an in season trade like that. And so that's kind of where the comparison falls short. So that's why I asked you again. What move from a personnel standpoint, can you make that actually turns the season around? I can it's not much, because like you said, they don't have a lot of flexibility built in. You can move THT and Kendrick naan, you can move those contracts, but otherwise you're talking about stacking up veteran minimums. You're not going to get much there. You either cut some guys and eat some minimum contracts and bring in some new vets. You know, like you cut Avery Bradley, Turkey Andre Jordan, you sign some buyout guys. But that's a dangerous slope to that's a dangerous hill to die on too, because buy out guys historically do not really help out too much. I can think of maybe a couple of the top of my head. The most recent one being Marquis Morris who I thought was a super big help to the Lakers. But after that, I go through every title contender. There aren't a lot of guys that had an amazing run with the team and helped them win a title. That doesn't really exist. So for the Lakers, as far as a personnel standpoint goes, like, yeah, you can stack THT and none, but what player out there is worth giving both of those things up for to try and salvage the season. I can't think of the player right now. Yeah, I'd be hard pressed to think of somebody that number one makes a salary that would work with a trade like that. And then number two, their team would want to trade them for that. I mean, yeah. I don't know. Maybe you can get Christian wood from the rockets. And I'm not even saying he's like the guy that would fix everything. I'm just thinking logistics, salary wise, what would actually work? But that's I'm sure there's a name for getting, but yeah, rob pelinka is a salary cap guy. He'll figure out some weird wonky, three team trade where the Lakers end up getting with the player they want. But until that happens, I am hard pressed like you said to find the move that turns the season around. I know obviously firing wall goal is very much well in the cards and almost seems like an availability at this point. But I can't imagine a new coach coming in and the Lakers suddenly are like this amazing team that we talked about. Now the hawks turned their season around last year, switching out their coach. But then McMillan. That's not we typically see. DDoS from YouTube said the Lakers need to be scared straight like those kids in the old reality TV show. Do we need prison bike? We need prison bike to come in and tell us all about the dementors. We need the dementors here. Suck whatever souls left out of this Lakers team. The measures would go hungry because they're not playing with much soul right now. Yeah, let me be starving. Matt James said, what do I have to give up in order to get AD to knock down free throws in threes? Your first born, you're talking about second form. Dark magic there in order to get something like that done..

"It's always going to be the first bench big or the only bench big, then the only way you don't see the Andre Jordan is if Davis starts out right at the 5, right? So yeah, and this is so early in the season. And I know Frank Vogel, he's a patient guy and he's pretty stubborn to adjust. Well, sometimes. So yeah, this is the playoffs, but this is a regular season, and he said this before previously in comments where he said, you know, we're not going to adjust too much throughout the regular season. We'll do it when it's needed. But basically, we're going to try and figure out a rotation that we're going to stick to. And then we're going to just roll with it no matter what. Obviously, Deandre Jordan played 14 minutes tonight. That's not a lot. But still, there's something to be said about getting off to good starts and limiting the damage that when he's on the floor because again, like I said, foot speed and athleticism quite aren't there for DJ anymore. So he's not nearly the same rebounder or defender that it used to be. So he's really just kind of hurting the Lakers for the most part. So yeah, don't expect Dave is at the 5 until later in the season or in just the playoffs. I've already accepted that this is going to be the starting lineup even when LeBron is healthy. We'll see. We'll see what winds up happening, but it certainly wasn't frustrating one, especially when I felt like they had taken a step forward with the smaller lineup. Somebody threw in, should we have kept Caruso over THT? We haven't seen THT. You can't make that decision right now. In fact, you probably can't make it until midway through the season when we see THT really ramp up and then see what they've got in him. So again, that's the better question to ask is that the Lakers? Yes. When it's not my money, the answer is yes. Right? Yes, yes. Yes, but I think no. I don't want to get too much into it, man. I'm just going to say, if you're going to say we're all in on a championship, and we're going to spend what it takes, and then you don't do that. But that's another conversation or video for another day. I'm just not going to get into it because I'm going to get too angry again. All right guys, thank you for joining us. "But i think they're floor for a win. Total is very high. I i wanna wait to see what they look like. Before betting them for any sort of championship or western conference futures fair point to be made about chemistry though with camello anthony in russell westbrook and the braun and these older stars that having a mixed with the anthony davis is dwight howard did the january jordan into the world west matthews of the world. That the commonality there may not be a lotta bond. These guys together. They might need some time together to kind of get together on page. They all know each other. My they've been they've been friends forever. Like mellow and lebron been friends. Right since way. Way back Mellow was on the team with westbrook him. Westbrook were buds. When he was on o'casey they get along. They've known each other forever. These guys very mind. Deandre andre jordan in the olympics. If you remember that younger or used to be these these kind of bonds that they formed go along way these are all either either current or former superstars and so that it's always easier to get along with guys we've played at that level and operated that level and make that kind of money. I think part of it too That i don't have a lot of worries about temporary..

"A lot of a lot of the time like he does tend to get injured often This year especially the lakers. Don't have that guy. That can space before with davis the same time like that. Center like marcus. Old is gone. You brought in dwight howard in gandara jordan but both are going to be in the same roses. Howard jill mcgee played from nineteen twenty which should be fine but you know. In the case davis gets injured. There is no guy in the front court that you can really rely on to bring that type of production Trevor reason anthony are going to be big guys to play Minutes before but again you know they're tailing off towards the end of their clears. Anthony thirty seven. He's not a defensive guy anymore. He's just strictly mainly shooter. Now are catching shoot shooter. That is He can't know he's not as athletic when he's guarding smaller guys anymore. You can only guard big guys not that great from the three point line anymore either. So davis he's going to be guy if he can stay healthy He's to proved that or he doesn't leading to prove because he's done a lot but he needs to show again bounced back from last year. Defensive force on the defense is going to take a little bit of a hit because guys casey p. a. coups improved in that role last year. Caruso is gone. so you're losing these guys that kind of helped fortify the limiter so when a de- gets challenged you know there's going to be challenges now for eighty to like help. Weakside help the guards that are not as strong defensively in the perimeter On data and so davis is going to be that key piece because he's the strongest in the front court and the lakers. They prove that you can still win with a big team In davis is going to have to be that guy again this year and beyond that deep level that he was years ago. Yeah no i totally agree especially looking defensively Like you can. You can definitely see the blueprint of what this team wants. Two years ago but then again i would also bring to like Dwight has taken a noticeable step back from when he was then and that's not even to be rude like he was still a fine rotation player last year but in the playoffs he was borderline unplayable which is different from where he was in in the bubble. Run the andre jordan. I'm not sure what to make of the andrea. Like i think you'll be okay in a smaller starting role. I'm excited. Imagine he'll start center depending on how things go. But i think we look at it in the same lens of like okay. It's an innings eating bigs who just give you more versatility and allow you to play bigger. Give you the optionality. Go smaller when When eighty comes on at five. And i would also say to you like just the anyone who does have concerns in the front court like this team is almost definitely going to get the best biopic you becomes available where i should say definitely will like. They're going to be in the running for two or three best guys. You get bought out so i'm not as worried about that. But like you're mentioning. A watt really hinges on. What happens with a d I think where some other stuff becomes a little bit..

"The lakers are trading markelle soul to the grizzlies in a move. That will save ten million dollars and according to the grizzlies are expected to waive ghazal. So he can just stay in spain. so wendy. what's your reaction to all this talk. Markelle soul after. The americans beat the spanish in the tokyo olympics and asked and they listen. Are you still planning on coming back and playing this last year with the lakers and he said at that time he was planning on it. But i wasn't one hundred percent sure of it and so now we have the answer and this was made a little bit more clear when andre jordan sign with the lakers this week. Because we're expecting. Anthony davis to play significant minutes at center this year. They also brought back. Dwight howard as so the lakers just had four centers on the roster and just didn't make sense and if indeed wanted to maybe play in spain and finish his. Nba career This way he can get his money and not be an issue. I have to say though. It is remarkable. The amount of business that the lakers do with the grizzlies. Not only trading for powell gosol back in the day but they've four players that the grizzlies have released in the last few years. Then song with the lakers including this year to grizzlies are playing Rajon rondo salary while the lakers are paying less of it. And now here. They have This trade which they did send a second round draft pick and and some cash to cover some of his salary but this gives them a roster spot and saves them about ten million dollars. luxury tax. So lakers fans should really really liked the grizzlies or helping them out. All over the place now to open roster spots and as you mentioned brian like the andre jordan move makes a little more sense now And as woge pointed out this this move means.

"Let's shift some ears. Talk some basketball a monday morning. Because the veteran lakers about to get even more veteran e big men de'andre jordan intends to sign with the lakers after being traded and then bought out by the distance jordan would be the tenth laker h thirty two or older and six of those guys thirty five plus nick jordan on the same team. Never thought i'd see the day Do you like the lakers bringing in deandra jordan. Nice good line janna listen. We're still getting the edible arrangements in the sheri's berries my for apologies that were from the audience last week. But you can feel free to send more to me. And by the way if you're feeling generous include kenny atkinson who lost his job arguably because he saw what i saw in fall which is de'andre jordan's not great at the old basketball anymore and now the nets finally admitted as they say. Hey you can have deandre jordan in detroit says no. We don't want them feel like what did we include six million dollars. They're like us. Don't want what we include for. Second round picks like okay. We'll take him and then we'll ask him to leave and now the legs are gonna take them. So i i understand that folks probably expect me to say well with lebron on it. He'll be different exam while. I do believe that braun has the ability to get the most out of any and all teammates. He's played with for now. Eighteen plus years. There has to be something to be gotten and driving. This moves. the needle for the lakers. No

Los Angeles Lakers Could Fill out Roster With DeAndre Jordan

"Just give us a little on. What you think's going to happen with andre jordan was traded to the pistons. Everybody's yeah he's going to be out and that means he's going to be the next guy that the lakers will go get what do you say i think he is I think they're the most likely team to get him But there's just. I never say never with bio guys even because this is kind of been the rumor for three or four weeks at this point That this happened in brooklyn and it was just a matter of were they going to do the bio for him was he going to have to be traded. I if it say brooklyn a whole lot of money the fact that they they just save millions of dollars on their luxury tax bill by doing it this way. Also nicer de'andre like deandra got that because he was part of the kevin durant kyrie irving initial big three in in brooklyn and he was just. He's friends with all those guys. They played on team usa together and he was essential for them in signing with the nets. A little while back and it was a him signing that he gets paid twenty million a year that is not his market value. They overpaid for him. In the beginning as part of a like a sign let sign kevin durant and kyrie irving and it was you know finally worked out that way but at some point you make so much money and your they have a lot of guys at that position but they you know straight into detroit. They they They're going to do a buy out. He's going to give back a little bit of money. Detroit gets four second round out of it so they get something And also some other some other complicated salary cap things but we all thought lamarcus aldridge was going to miami. Last year on the market he ended up going to brooklyn so until he clears. Waivers and intel other teams have a chance to approach the andre. I wouldn't i wouldn't say it's likely or expected or anything like that. I would use much more. Vague words. you know. He fits with the lakers. He would fit in that role. I think would have a pretty well defined role and if you're on the buyout market and you're gonna sign for minimum like that's what you're looking for is someplace you can play.

"No, I think he absolutely can and will contribute to this Lakers team. I think we saw it in Portland. We saw the blueprint for how he's going to contribute. But I think because he's got the big name, he gets a little bit overhyped where people are expecting him to do these big things. Temper those expectations. If he scores in the double digits, I will be very happy, right? If he gives you ten points a game, even if it's just ten on the nose. I'd be pretty happy as long as it's efficiently. I think we have to focus more on just his efficiency. The fact that he can come in, be a scoring threat, don't assume he's going to come in, scoring 20 points per night or doing anything on the defensive end of the floor. Yes, he's got a big name, but he's 37 years old. He has made that transition to becoming a role player. And I think we have to make sure that we see him through that lens. He's a role player now at this point in his career. He's not your go to guy. I think you can give him the ball in crunch time in certain situations. If you can generate an open look, he can knock those down, but he's no longer the guy where you say the offense is in trouble. Here's the ball, you go figure it out. That's not his ideal role anymore. Yeah, it's the same way we talked about Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo in 2019, 2020, where when they came to the Lakers, it was, hey, these are big names. They are not the players they were anymore. They can still provide an impact, and here's the blueprint to do that. But don't expect that they are who they used to be. Because they're not. And that's okay. Guys slip, you know, lose a little lose a step here and there all the time. Carmelo is still going to be a pretty impactful player for the team, but he's not going to be Carmelo Anthony. All right, so I've got a lot of people that are on our chat right now talking about Mark Gasol. So let's dive into the right now, right? Most of the roster is set. However, there have been lingering rumors stemming from a couple of weeks ago, Mark Stein mentioned that Marc Gasol might still leave the Lakers. And then the whole Deandre Jordan thing popped up and now the nets suddenly have Millsap, potentially Aldridge. It seems like the Andre Jordan's on the way out the door. So where do you stand Ron on the Deandre Jordan versus Marc Gasol debate? Because it feels like you're probably not going to have both. I guess I'll let you respond. Do you think they could just keep all of them? Keep white, bringing Jordan and keep cassol?.

"Yeah i think we're twelve days away now from the start of the nfl. See at least for the rams the start of the nfl season sunday night football against the chicago bears. So i want to ask about. We're talking about rondo. I wanna ask you one more thing It appears that according to shams toronto that centered de'andre jordan in the nets are working toward parting ways. The abiout jake fisher who writes for bleacher. Report says this one suitor to keep an eye on sources say should de'andre jordan and the brooklyn nets reach a contract buyout. The los angeles lakers now. They've got thirteen players under contract. They've got to roster spots open. Do you think the lakers will or do they have any interest in deandre jordan. Yes i think that he is a really strong option for them if he gets bought out. But it's a big. There's a lot to me is. There's a lot of ifs okay. he has to. They have to decide whether to buy him out He has to decide if he wants to get into remember. He was part of the original. Big three there in brooklyn the andre jordan kyrie irving and kevin durant couple of years ago so he hasn't played as much as he wanted but remember. The andrei made has a house here in la. He has a lot of relationships here in la friendships. And that's why the lakers do have that role. I mean i think when you when you think about a guy like that if he if he wants to be bought out and yes leave some money on the table most likely or they can trade in someplace with to a team that has salary cap space or whatever so i think rondo was an easier person to say okay. He goes likely you're gonna be bought out because memphis had nineteen ross. The players on their roster. And you can only fifteen so. They had four extra players they have. They had to do something with them. Neither had to trade them or buy them out. So rhonda made made sense to buy out. But de'andre to meet he. He can still play for brooklyn he had some. He had some values of their matchups because they still need a big center. Who can play with yonder when they like when they play philly who who guard. Joel impeach still need a guy like that. So it's a question of does he wanna leave any money on the table. Is there a trade. They can find for him team. Oklahoma city that you know their their position to just take players into salary spaces. There's there's a lot of different teams out there that you could see him move to and they get something for them and then they would control other. He does bite or not. But i think the lakers make a lot of sense for de'andre You weren't here for this part last week but we're we're talking about. You know ideas where they would go. The lakers still need another center. They still need another big. I who in the mold of dwight howard and mark san had a story last week about whether or not work saul was going to stay on the team. Personally i think he. I think he's viable candidate. I don't know if you've allocated or trade candidate like it's it's i think it's more up to him like did he have a good experience here in los angeles last year. Would he'd rather go someplace else more like would he rather go back to spain. Play his last year or two rather have deandra barcelona. I'd rather have andre jordan. Marcus oh i don't know if it's a choice of either i think you can have both. They have room. I mean there's there's ways they can. They can have both of them on the roster. I the question is does mark want that. His big brother. Powell went and played for barcelona last year. That's where they came of age like would it makes more sense to end his career in spain. If i'm mark stay right. Worry am because last year didn't work out the way anyone wanted to but they are definitely in a position where i think he would start lakers. I think he should start using jordan. Would the lakers nuno marcus. All your. I think he probably does start. Owner does want to play the five. Probably start with at the four right. Yeah you need some shooting. Unisom shooting in that starting lineup is going to be west lebron. Add station last year. We didn't have the rim protection that we had the euro. You're right but they also have. Anthony davis who can give that to you. Dwight's better is coming off. The bench rolled right and in that championship here. He was coming off bench to bail. Started most of those gains. Remember john you know. Think i think marcus all like the whole reason. They signed him last year because he can shoot high basketball. Iq great passer and theoretically can still be a good defensive player. It depends on what kind of shape it comes in and how much he has left physically but from a team defense perspective. He's not as he was not as bad. Last year's people make it out to be if you look at the all the advanced he wasn't as bad. And i think if it's a matter of advert- stature one thing that i mean just the eye test i think you know he. He had a better season when he came back. He i thought mark came into the camp. Not in great shape. Didn't play all that. Well got took a why he was out for a long time. With coach he was then he got replaced by andre drummond which had to hurt. The pride started playing a whole lot better though after after he had a little competition there and by the end they never. They started him in that. Last was it allowing second-half. Yeah they gotta start somebody at two five. That's not anthony davis even though that's her affective lineup most effect. Yeah and and if you look at if you look at it if the if you're de'andre jordan and let's i i don't know if you'll get a buyout done k. Or he'll get traded. There's still a few things that need to happen. But i've heard that for months that this was a good landing spot and you know why because he would have a good role on the lakers. They have plain time. It'll be interesting to see what happens again. That's just being that's been reported now. Today the andre jordan is potentially bio candidate for the nets right. So momo in new york and i lived in new york i worked in new york. I been to mets games. I i know exactly what that crowd is like. They have been booing. The mets relentlessly particularly the hitters hobby bias kevin.

"I mean he's not wrong. I i just think that that's hardly like the point. Like i think we all realized that it's not the regular season. That's the problem. it's it's the playoffs. So yeah it's it's it's tough. I am a personally. I am of the belief that We're gonna see. Some stuff happened after the olympics. I just think that that's the that's the reason why it's been all quiet and yeah i don't know whether it's lillard or not necessarily but i just think that when these guys get back from the games next week that will probably see some stuff loosening up. Because they're still they're still some teams that made moves this past week. Where i'm like. This is to set something else up right like you guys signed these dudes because you need you know you need the make waits for a salary or you need to do something else. It can't possibly be that. This is what you're going into and we talked. We were talking before we start recording about celtics like i think that there's a couple of teams there where people are like. There's something else coming right. I mean who has time to engineer trades when you gotta wake up at five. Am to watch race walking. It's a busy slate on peacock. What else do we want to talk about here. Because i think there are so many different layers of this onion rob something when you were making the video about the max contract things. It's always fun to dive deep on a subject like that. What was the thing that you learned that you were like i had. I had no idea that this is the case. I think one of the things that clarified for me is. You have to be reminded. Sometimes of all of the different conditions that come with all of these cap exceptions you know like how you signed for mid level versus a minimum deal versus a max steel. Obviously there are different lengths requirements. That come with that. They're different rules that come with that and how it changes the way. A team has to operate like the nets for example. Just the idea that basically they went through all of this rigmarole with kyrie irvings guarantees and bonuses and conditions of his deal with the scientific for durant alta. Get like a little tiny bit of caporale them so that they could get nick claxton in on a slightly longer deal than they. Otherwise would have like. That's the level that you have to go if you're one of these creative front offices to get even out's better as a team than you otherwise would have but that can be what separates you in a playoff series like nick. Lexi's become a really important part of their team. Because we're also going to throw out forty million dollars a day andre jordan and the process did i just don't understand how deandre jordan still in that team yet they're able to sign like patty mills and all these guys and get blake back. I could just. I feel like we should come up with different names for some of these exceptions like there should just be a lebron vet exception. She know or or he. Culture exception were like we. How did that happen. How did you. i don't understand. I do think. And we've been talking about this talking around this idea and a lot of ways in this conversation but just the idea that the league has really weeded out a lot of the really bad. Gm's a lot of the really bad for an offices in what contributes to a lot of the group thing. We've been talking about and kind of the idea that you now have to have different positions in your time line in a trade for it to make sense versus picking on somebody the as in a pretty smart place by and large overall. I know you know everyone is dumb. Get it everyone's making mistakes. All these deals are bad et cetera. Et cetera. I get i get the backlash in the response on that stuff but by and large. Nba teams are pretty. Well run right now and that puts everything in a very dynamic place in terms of you. Know the future of the sign and trait the future of all these different mechanisms. You know we're just starting to look at these things in a different light than we did. Five or ten years ago. Where is the nba cap. Wise and salary management wise. In another five years we could be looking at a totally different landscape. What i'm really curious to see in the next. Cbs is if If if the owners and the existing basically if they are okay with how things stand because bird rates obviously were meant to help Help teams retain their stars right And that was a big. That was a big thing in the last. Cba just how do how do these teams retain the players that they have And it hasn't really necessarily worked out that way what's happening is the guys are getting paid And then they're going somewhere else. Obviously there is some sweetener like we talked about that that comes with that. I'm just wondering like i'm wondering how the exact actually feel about that If this is a scenario they like they're such a rich history of unintended. Cba consequences at this point. You'd like the contract length being chief among them how you know the team the teams and the owners thought oh if we shortened the contract length. That's going to help us. 'cause we're not going to be on the books for a ten year deal. Oh whoops your accent opening the door for all of these guys negotiate their exits basically whenever they want. I mean the the as are always fascinating in that way. What teams think they need and think they want to be more effective versus the way these things actually play out in real time usually are very different. Yeah the sh the perpetual auditioning for for teams having perpetually audition for players rather than the other way around. I think it's it makes for a much more lively transactional market and it makes for probably a lot more Volatility in terms of teams. That are good or teams that are bad like the idea that chicago has gone from. Basically one of the punch lines of the league to. I wouldn't say easter conference to contender but definitely must see tv. Starting the season rate like took him. It took them three first round. Picks to get there you right i mean when did they give orlando for like like jazz. One for derozen. It's adding up at this point but then you get into the idea that You know if if nothing is ever really set if you're following along with the client esque model of like i'm just gonna keep rolling over these two years and like you know what i i have my medical team any way like. I'm kind of like my own industry for those superstar players. That's really fascinating when it gets to like the younger guys. I think too serious point earlier about people being nba ready. I think we have a lot more coaches who are a lot more willing to play younger guys earlier. Rather than like steve. Clifford like mogambo will sit and watch for two years before i give him like anything more than garbage time I wonder whether or not it accelerates that kind of agitation. We've already heard a lot about the. Zion is unhappy in new orleans stuff like he wants to go to the next. He may be the first guy ever not to sign a rookie extension Do you think that this could start to trickle down into the the underclassmen of the nba. This kind of like. Hey maybe maybe. I don't necessarily need to spend the beginning of my prime in a kind of mid tier or even losing situation if i on especially right He's just somebody who is going to make all of the money in the world For the rest of his his career And he's going to get argument hanging in new orleans actually capping his his potential right now. Yeah probably i mean at least in terms of earnings potential right on. Probably if i've already taken two shots at the pelicans were probably basketball to top top. Four global cities like worry about it. I love new orleans. Pelicans thing i've ever when he goes to the gates. Yeah i mean it's just seems it seems like it's why it seems like it's why it seems like new orleans is actually such a dope city. That people don't care basketball that much. I've never been there. That's just a guess but it just seems like it from people you talk to. They're always on the to do Yeah i think. I think if you're as i on and like actually let's let's to. So why am i taking shots. Pelicans right. it's because it is so obvious when there are bad..

"Paul a tremendous track record of getting paid starting with tyson chandler. Then my former teammate. The andre jordan lob city. He helped clint cappella get some money. And he's going to do the same thing with the andre eight now and it also help them get a championship. Absolutely i mean certainly. That bag is coming right so whether the whether the ring comes are not the bag is coming. Wholesome good i do love though. De'andre has really born down and the work ethic he has shown. Especially since monty williams got here being receptive to monte telling him that he did have to work harder. Monte told them you can work at a level where you show up and collect a check or you can work at a level where you show up and then collect wins and it goes somewhere and i think a big thing too was. That was a big challenge in that first round against planning. His anthony davis. I think he came out in in use that as as a measuring stick is arguably the best power forward in the game and he came out there and complete although he was a little injured. He outplayed aiden. Came and really got that calm in his confidences. Continue to grow to them again in the finals. Now so think it's great to see special for all these young players that have never been there but you could never tell monte's other thing is everything counts and his point is if you come in at six. Am in september. Tuesday that counts in your big bucket of what prepares you for an nba finals. Moment and that. They have been putting stuff in that bucket all season. And he told the andre eight. And you've got that full bucket of work now. You can use it to go to work on this team. We will talk about more of this matchup right after this break. Coming up also brook..

"This is a good day for me. I'm not going to be not gonna lie here. This is a good day for me. I like chris paul. I think the sons are great story. I'm happy for chris. Paul underappreciated joy. Taylor is joining me this morning. This is a day. I am have not supposed to route necessarily and i don't really for teams but there are people that i like people that i root for and chris paul's one of those people. I'm happy today. I thought it was a a great scene last night. I watched the game amongst our people at a sports bar was actually almost the clippers bar clippers fans. They're watching a game at a sports bar. Would you have like the local teams fans. There you get to ride the wave. Yes always very interesting but it was. I'm really happy for chris paul. Let's start with this. It's for all of us to get your life to all come together at once. I remember when i got out of college and have any money and you finally get all your bills paid and your car breaks down and like i don't have six hundred dollars then you get the six hundred dollars for your car and something else breaks. It's hard and then you get older and it's like okay. You finally get a boss you like. The marriage is going great and when your kid gets in trouble you got bail amount of sun. It's hard to get your life to come together. I was thinking about samuel. L. jackson the great actor he he was acting in the seventies but then he got pulp fiction and he got a red hot director and a perfect co star in an amazing script and they got real money and it all came together. The critics loved it. You loved it. I loved at the box office was great. It's an all time top twenty film. it all came together. They've been acting since the seventies hard for adult come together sixteen years in the nba tunnel. And last night. chris. Paul finally in all came together thing about the clippers. He goes to the clippers and he carried him yet. It was blake griffin who still can't shoot blake griffin little. He can shoot a little. That everybody loved blake griffin. He was flashy. He was jumping over cars and slam dunk contest. Everybody loved blake. Blake's team de'andre jordan. Was always chirpin at chris paul yet his entire offense of nba career. Comes down to lobs from chris paul but he was always chirpin. The andre jordan was chirpin and had the worst owner and they were embarrassingly cheap. Same town is the lakers. Never got the respect. The clippers never had a fifty win season. Ever chris paul arrived. They had five straight and yet. Every time they lost he got blamed. He was like an a plus actor who signed up for a low budget film and because the low budget film didn't win the auster. Chris paul's no the only reason you watched the film was chris paul. That's the only reason you pay any damn attention to the low budget. Film was chris paul but every time. The clippers lost well. You didn't win the oscar and win the title donald sterling on the team. Think you're gonna win. Titles that's why phoenix is right. They were desperate. They needed direction. And they're like crispell. That's exactly what we need. He comes and deliver. Phoenix had the worst record in the nba. For nine years. Here comes chris. Paul there in the finals and i gotta tell you something. Feeling under appreciated is a very powerful thing for men and women boys and girls young and old black white republicans liberals to very powerful to feel under appreciated twice. Tom brady left new england. It was not the money we talked too much about money. Why aaron rodgers pissed at green bay. Not the money try. Russell wilson went public in seattle. It was not the money it was come on man. I'm carrying the load here. Give me some help. Can i have a say. But at least with aaron rodgers at least with russell wilson. At least with tom brady their value is understood. We understand their value. But chris paul had the double whammy not only. Was he underappreciated. he doesn't even get nominated for. Mvp's we don't even understand his value. I mean even clipper fans. Poor clipper fans didn't know they'd lost so many games they'd won so infrequently. They didn't even understand that chris. Paul was the key to the franchise for years they thought it was blake griffin everybody's all blake griffin can jump over a kia. That's the guy. He could not shoot when he was. A clipper can shoot a little bit now and so last night for chris. Paul this season for chris paul he finally got the director and the script and the co star and the budget and the critical acclaim and the box office. Finally after all these years he got a coach who had him before and gets him. He's got to dependable wings. I love jae crowder. Even on bad nights. I love jae crowder. He's got a true shooting guard so when he passes he gets credit for the assist. He's got a guy at the rim and the andre eight and who loves lobs and god. There's nobody better than delivering those than chris. Paul in is hard in life for young people. You're out of college. Got no money. You're scraping by finally. Get the bills pay. You finally get the refrigerator full. And you're damn car breaks down and it's a six hundred forty seven dollar bill and mom and dad. They don't have it either. I appreciate because. I know how hard it is. You ask anybody in the entertainment field to get it all together. You got the receivers but the old line stinks. You got the running game. But you got no perimeter speed. That was brady doing day to bring it all together. Even the special teams are good. And the coaches good. That's chris paul last night. Sixteen years the coast the wings the to guard the beg the fan base. All finally sixteen years came together and here was chris after. I'm just so happy for the people around here in la clippers. This my family to i years to the clippers. We saw a lot of these fans. Billy crystal. that's my family thought. The door here against the team. That i got the utmost respect for always be a clipper fan. Good for c. P. three great night right night for sports great sports moment. Let's talk about somebody who didn't play last night. Kawhi leonard because after the game. Paul george to his credit owes goes to the mic winner. Lose paul's always there winner. Lose great game bad game. He's always there deserves credit but he did say after the game. If colli leonard was here well it would be a different series. Yeah but i. Leonard is never consistently there. Let's be honest about kawhi leonard. It's like when you go to a theme park. God theme parks would be great if you didn't have to wait in line but you always do so you've got to bake that in right at the end of a seven hour day. A theme park. You're on rides for about twenty eight minutes. You're eating for an hour and you're in line for five hours and forty five minutes. There is no theme park without lines. Unless you're like From dubai and own country or something. The rest of us have to wait in lines. You bake that in. And you bake in colli. Leonard is not always there. The last time kawhi leonard was physically reliable was twenty six thousand two thousand seventeen. Oh by the way he got hurt at the end of.

"Gary knows where we are in relation to the game where you are in relation to the game so it just thinks you up. A lot of people have been joining those really enjoying them. Great comment threads in there as well. We obviously respond to comments during the break. So this in the end was a one fifteen one seven victory for the brooklyn nets. It was not that close. It was over with four minutes left in the game but despite the fact that the nets won this we have to begin. Sadly with the injury to james art we do. And who is extremely deflating for pretty much everybody involved when it happened hardin reinjuring that same right hamstring and as jeff stotts noted. And you know that as just the experience with all this with muscle muscle. Injuries hamstring tricky. It's something you and i have said for years is what makes this so daunting. Is that re injuries. Often take a long time to. And i mean and so maybe he comes back in the series like you said and i think this is going to prove true that if somebody can't come back in that game with the muscle injury they're going to be least a week harden has already been. He missed the rest of game one. he's already been ruled out for game. Two and a hamstring strain was put that could mean anything really can and so it was basically the first possession of the game and the challenge is really like okay we. We saw that the nets one game game one. And we'll go through that until but working from here. You know the strain that this game put on kyrie irving and kevin durant. Can they do that. Six more times in this series and then plus how if they can however much they need to in the next round while the only need to do it three times to at least get out of here with a win and i could certainly see the bucks getting some blowouts in this series. But it's worth noting of course that it's not like the bucks just completely destroyed the nets in milwaukee when they played without james harden both teams. Were going pretty hard in those two games in the bucks did win both of them and they looked like the better team in those games but the nets having home court and in fact. You're winning this one pretty handily. Is there something to take away from this for the nuts. I think defensively. They had by far the best game against the box. They really yes. Six out of thirty. Three point shooting for milwaukee very reminiscent of game one against miami but obviously the nets are a better team. So that's that is going to improve three point shooting. Chris middleton six out of twenty three jrue holiday seven hundred nineteen. I think both of those guys can be a lot better than they were. So that's something that's not gonna continue. What did you see in this game. And i think. I'm gonna make the assumption that james harden his out for the series right now until further notice. I think that's that's probably a pretty fair assumption. And if he does come back his risk of reinjuring it would be really really high as depressing as that is because i was despondent when that happened on the first fucking possession of the game for for the net but what what what may brooklyn have found in this game that could continue that they can potentially rely on throughout the series. I thought they were really strong. Defensively and i mean one one way of describing that is through kind of milwaukee's offense in that second half in particular thought that that's really worth things kicked into gear. Yeah the shooting. Two out of eleven during that stretch helps but milwaukee also they got thirteen shots restrict area but there were six of eighteen from florida and they and they took to midrangers and so i thought that that was important but arguably more important than that was that the nets were defending relatively well and they. They weren't giving up a ton of free throws they gave up a fair amount. Gave up eleven during the half in total. But that's not ridiculous when you consider the physical disadvantage that the nets faced during that same stretch and like as john hollander noted. If people like the nets. I think i was in the fourth. In the fourth quarter the debts committed four thousand. The first few minutes and then the bucks still didn't didn't use the bonus until i think it was three minutes left in the game. What i wouldn't say it was for lack of trying. I we talked about this on the cast. Actually that the referee's not calling many policy nestling shot nine free throws in this game. I thought that actually played to the nets advantage because frankly as the smaller team. You're just going to have to file more right in k. d. did get five fouls Blake griffin got six. Nobody else really committed very many for them but they're just going to be in situations where whether it's boxing out whether it's protecting the rim jaanus driving to the basket they're going to be situations where there's just gonna be some borderline plays where they may be falling. And i think the fact that not many fouls were called actually played to the nets advantage in this game to play a little bit harder and freer and a big way. That assize vange can manifest itself as just getting the other team in foul trouble getting to the foul line and so fewer falls positives in general being called that game. You agree with me right. That those a a pretty loosely called games. I would pull heartedly. Particularly in the first half. I i thought And maybe even the beginning of the third quarter now so that that may not continue you know that they could get into some follow issues to be. Sure i think the thing that you gotta feel pretty good about is only giving up thirty three point attempts and only twelve in the second half only five in the third quarter and also the nets importantly cleaned up a lot. Better on the defensive glass. They had email trouble during that first. Quarter the the bucks had nine offensive rebounds in the first quarter and then they had six and the rest of the game now. You give up nine. Overall twenty-seven percent often regards. You could totally live with that. If in certain games maybe that that will be a problem if your offense is a little bit worse or but but overall i think you can. You can do that in a conservative. And i thought that they did a better job going after a bringing extra people bring extra people to the glass and some of the events players did well and i think that was the other for me. Really positive thing for brooklyn and all single out nick claxton so claxton. I thought had a rough first-half he was out physical know. A couple of plays words just wasn't wasn't strong enough and whether it was setting better screens or playing a little bit more aggressively on defense. He went from being a negative in the first after being a positive in the second half in brooklyn needs every support player to be a positive or close to it because now those guys have to do a lot more no absolutely and blake griffin was another one of those guys they. I thought they might play the andre jordan. They did not do that at all but they did. Actually go away from the switching system on any screen involving it's actually played conventional pick and roll defense and i thought did a pretty good job on him. The bucks tried to get some of those like empty side. Pick and rolls in the big generally did a good job of showing just enough to deter the drive and then getting back to janas in between the oddest and the basket and the superficially. His line was very good thirty. Four point sixteen to twenty four didn't really have the jump shot working the to five from three but didn't have the two point jump in that well But four assists five turnovers. That's not amazing for him and he just wasn't able to set up the three point shooting so they kind of your the bucks kinda beat him up on the interior and brook lopez..

"There's no argument against are playing them, you know your minds me up and and they're they're similar in terms of the kind of freakish athleticism, but I think Rob and you'll love this. I think Rob's a little bit more groundbreaking Javale McGee. He's he has been kind of freakish athleticism at the position that development who by the way folks, I think forgot about this was pretty damn close to being a Celtic to the point where they thought they had a deal and veil in his can't we like timeout we want XYZ and Danny was I can't do that then we have no deal. Amegy think about Javale McGee is one of the most at this point his career. He's still one of the most athletic things I disagree with the athletic, I see people throw DeAndre Jordan out there, which is nuts cuz DeAndre Jordan and again the greatest one of the greatest quotes of all times is Charles Barkley. You could lock the Andre Jordan in a gym overnight telling me can't dunk and he'll wake up in the morning with six points. Okay, but Jordan cannot do anything other than jump. Okay. So I hate that comparison for Rob juice has not just athleticism but hand I he's got fluid. He's just a knucklehead where he could literally just turn around score on the wrong basket which which he has I think let me go ahead and I love that. The veil is one of my favorite players to watch because for simple comedic value he's going to do something that's going to be like the hell was he thinking yeah, Rob Doesn't do that nearly as much like the last couple of weeks as he was doing earlier this year and last season and that to me is what the Celtics need. They need him to be more than just a freakish athletic guy. Who if you get a bucket of two years he has to have a presence at both ends of the floor and I think we're starting to see him slowly but surely get to that point..

Kyrie, KD and Company: The Evolution of the New Brooklyn Nets

"Right now the nets are one of the more star studded teams in Bass ball this summer they went out and signed Kyrie Irving Kevin Durant De'andre Jordan and while Katie's not playing this year they are still seen as contenders but back in twenty six eighteen when coach Kenny Atkinson I came on board what did this team look like it was just a lot of hope and nothing much to base it on they won twenty games his first year they didn't win a game in February and they honestly really didn't have any genuine cowan right they traded for aging vets Paul Pearson Kevin Garnett well it's funny billy king and broker off before them decided to put all their chips in and give away all of the future first round picks and it was one of the most lopsided deals in history it's one thing right to have young players and not a lot of games I think we call that tanking but they couldn't even do that because they weren't even eligible to get the draft picks to draft picks we're going to the Boston Celtics who are picking guys like Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum with those picks so nets were behind the ball then when they hired a new GM Sean marks at twenty six teen what was his approach well Sean was just he's just so smart in Kenny's the same way they were really stuck on what's our culture going to be we're going to play unselfishly it's going to be a player I organization we're going to see solidifies player performance and so you need the right kind of player to buy into that now you know a guy like Joe Harris who had an accomplished anything yet of course he was gonNA buy in but that's why they stay away from some of the veterans because they were afraid they wouldn't they just felt it was really important to establish that foundation as they went forward here so this culture that the nets were establishing it was markedly different from the rest of the NBA it wasn't a it was revolutionary but they just took it to another level check out the Brooklyn practice facility it's the nicest one in the league it's cold tubs hot tub store eight of the yard pools to help with conditioning there's a rooftop that has the most magnificent view of the New York skyline they wanted to make their facility so attractive that guys would want to stay there every day if you come in let's say it's a practice day you'll get a text the night before and they'll say okay your table time is it was just say eight thirty in the morning so you go to your table and they have a physical therapist there they have a massage therapist there and they say what hurts wouldn't you love that Meena I I'd love table time how do I get how do I sign up in my own home and so you get twenty minutes thirty minutes they work on whatever's bothering you whatever hurts and then you go into the weight room for about a half an hour then you go onto the court for individual one on one work can last up to forty five minutes so you've already spent two hours at the facility you and you haven't even started practice yet so that is a little different than other places so the nets debuted this very distinct culture right there really rebuilding because ravage the roster was when does it start to work obviously really wasn't working that first year the you know the Andre Jordan told me Oh yeah you know I remember going in there and thinking wow these I play hard I mean we're GONNA kill them they're gonNA play hard and you know so the second year it got a little better and I think really it was last year they started to see some of the it's Joe Harris led the league in three point shooting percentage last year and all of a sudden all this work and this culture seemed to kick in a little bit they won forty two games way ahead of schedule I don't think Shaun Kenny expected to make the playoffs within three years but that's what happens Brooklyn which is a playoff spot they had not made the playoffs in eight of the last eleven years you know Kenny Atkinson's reputation has off the charts in his time there because even players who leave like jared Dudley Demari Carol tell everybody yeah he works hard but man is he all about you and then the same thing has and was Sean marks they they put the players I and in this day and age is there anything more than an NBA player wants to hear then we're GonNa put you first what do you need so the nets establish their own culture and their teams increasingly competitive at the same time what was going on with Kyri Katie and De'andre so Jordan and durant and Kyrie we're all on the two thousand sixteen Olympic team in Rio they were on a boat a cruise liner vote was quite elegant an open pool asana several dining rooms a cigar bar because every NBA player needs that twenty four hour room service beds that especially made for seven foot basketball players K. D. in Jordan we're already really really super tight in fact I think right before the Olympics they went and got tattoos together Vegas to prepare for the Rio Games now durant had great respect for Kyrie's game but he didn't know him that well so they get to real remember coverage just hit that big shot to beat the golden state WARRIORS PUTS IT UP precooked Cleveland is and Kyrie was tired along year he made the big shot so he wasn't really invested the way durant wanted to be and he said something to him he challenge him and you know Durant told me the other day that the way kyrie responded which was favourably and positively said Yep you're right I gotta give you more was at the beginning of their bond so one of their last night's real lincoln drinks at one of the many bars and lounges on that ship and Kyrie said you know we should do this for real Indiana Georgia's civil what do you mean he said we should all play together so the groundwork for these three players playing together is laid on this vote outside Rio three years ago what happens is summer how do they finally come together well that's a good question they say that they all go on a conference call and say hey let's do this then with Katie and Dj was you know four sixteen in the morning us just talking about our futures and later on that day we just decided hey we're just going to break this like we're doing this another that's what they have to say because tampering would be at work I do believe member of the very famous view I think you and I talked about together on around the horn talking in the tunnel after the All Star game in Cairo whispering to each other and the tunnel yeah being lip read by some of the op the breeders in the world I bet that's what they were talking about this there's no doubt my mind they were texting all the time these guys text a lot they weren't touch with one another I'm sure it was in the works for a while I don't know if we'll ever know that for sure just because of how tampering works in the league

Knicks Snap 18-Game Home Losing Streak with Win over Spurs to Avoid NBA History

"Guys. We have a guest here obviously on the shell Pennzoil performance line. And it is oh guy. Our guy Bagley get your bag. Ian, how're you doing? In. My three favorites out there tonight. I'm very excited. Yes. ESPN New York. Knicks reporter also does the nets and basically holds the upper east coast down in did you know that the Knicks made the Oscars they pretty much won an Oscar did you notice this? Yeah. We got wind of it on social media after the game. And we asked a couple of players about if they hadn't seen a year for too excited to just see the clip Samuel Jackson, and Spike Lee. Not every not every year that the Knicks could have mentioned on the Oscars deserves rightfully so. Because the Knicks would at home first time that happened since December one twenty eight and I'm talking about last year folks, twenty we're everywhere. Number one two thousand eighteen they won. They beat the Spurs one thirty one eighteen and I even saw the icing on the cake who threw off the backboard pass for the dunk like it was just wild. How important Dennis Smith? Well, of course, it makes sense. Usually he's on the other end of the dunk rape. How does this when in Madison Square Garden me? What was the field? Was it like a sign of relief for coach physio it felt like a weight off everybody's shoulders, you know, coach FitzGerald would tell us that they don't think about it. They don't talk about it. But then the players afterward joking around the locker room, it just felt like a much later lock home. Now, they knew about they were one loss away from Batasuna longest losing streak ninety history set in ninety three ninety four by the Dallas Mavericks. They know that they have the longest losing streak in franchise history. This so they're aware of those numbers. They don't want to be a part of that history. Tonight, especially the team like the city until you're Spurs. It's not easy, especially for this. And we've got a twenty two games left would throw out the record. We know where we know where we are twelve hundred forty eight what should be the goals over the next six weeks here with this team wanna see consistency. I think so Kevin Knox. You'd wanna see what Frank ntilikina as you're still trying to answer that question. You know, one one and a half almost two seasons. Enter France career, he should get healthy at some points to from this point. I think it was the next to kiss him significant minutes trying to answer that question to try to see if he can be elite guard. What did he do off the ball and where he used offensively so between seven and Saint not some consistency. From those guys. I think the next like what they've seen recently from young player in literal Robinson who who's really played well, especially since the Andre Jordan has come over from Dallas Jordan has done a good job mentoring. Mitch robinson. So I think it's it's the young players on your team and being able to project them forward who is a keeper who can you pencil in for next year? And who do you think won't be around piggybacking off your point there? What's the the Knicks recruiting pitch this summer? You know, who they Bill that around is it around, you know, playing with somebody like Dennis Smith. Knox. Or like what how does that play out? Jordan because you have the two max slots. Pitches almost hey, come come here and tell us who you wanna play with right twenty nine hundred she class, we get that you wanna play with and Kevin Durant. Also simple. You want to change the narrative around. Golden State to win those titles. You come here. And you have success in New York you wanna title in New York. I mean, that's a forever thing doesn't staffers outside of Madison Square Garden and no one. We'll talk about how joined that Golden State to win your earlier title simple message. Anybody else? It's tell us who you wanna play with. We'll try to bring that guy in. That's the voice of in Begley are ESPN next report. And that's reporter upper east coast. Reporter you're listening to insiders. I'm Bobby marks Jordan Schultz ESPN radio ESPN app and Sirius XM channel eighty now. Talking about obviously, the potential free agency this summer. Those are all big question marks largely because of the trade deadline, sending Kristaps Porzingis opening up two slots, but tell me how worried were Knicks fans watching Duke UNC this past week in. Knick fans are still watching the Knicks games. I give them a lot of credit assume most expensive watching every night. So. A big sigh of relief. I think I'm this fanbase when you found out that that sign injury wasn't that serious that he's going to be okay. Because this record twelve weeks at this point. And they're just looking ahead towards the trash and like every other bottom. Feeding MBA franchise. They're looking at nine what you've seen how he can impact their roster. How much he can change the fourteen organization. So, you know, certainly everybody around here was relieved when they found that he was okay. The interesting thing so Zion and wherever the Knicks end up in the draft in the top three. They hope is could that pick then help them creed. With the woman's Francis us, I think that's something. That's that's certainly on the fan bases minded. I'm sure the front office is thinking about different permutations packages. They could put together including that twenty nine team first round pick to try to entice New Orleans Detroit. And before we let you go. What do you think Zion playing in Madison Square Garden would look like do you think it would be just the new coming up LeBron or even even bigger based on his highlights in his dunking ability. I remember the Jeremy Lin Ron and how much energy was in the building night in and night out. How much of the event every home game was your masters. I think it would be just like that. But even more so sign Williamson was here. Because you know, he getting the franchise all three player people talk about him as a prospect the same way, they talks about Davis to bring that kind of talent into this building would give this reasons for optimism something they haven't had in a long time around here in. I look forward to our shared slice of pizza. I know we've been pushing off that day for a long time. He's been the best pizza apparently in New York. But before we let you go last, but not least we have awards given out for the MBA insiders and honors of aren't Oscars. Have you been watching the Oscars tonight? Because I've been at the. Is your feed though, you saw here. A little bit here and there, okay? This has been a Mahershala Ali love fest on the show, but we actually have awards given out today on MBA insiders throughout the course of the night. I want to get your vote for the last category that we're trying to push best leading man. Are you ready for this vote pleased? The nominees are Janta Takubo of the box. PG thirteen Paul George of the thunder James harden of the rockets and Kawhi Leonard of the raptors who is your best leading man right now. I would go right now with John giving Milwaukee's records they're standing in the conference in the role that he plays on that team. I think he's most deserving of that honor at the moment all of Georgia's a close second. Given what he's done for the thunder

"You're listening to the spoken edition of the San Francisco Chronicle. On warriors, ride and raiders road. All the news that fits the bottom of the birdcage by Scott, Osler what the warriors must do. Now is twisted the narrative, so. What the warriors must do. Now is twisted the narrative, so the so called turmoil and discord is all in the minds of critics in haters and the attackers only strengthened the warriors team bond. Draymond green is the perfect man to lead this counterattack. This has been bothering me and admittedly. I'm not strong on payroll economics. The raiders have three first round draft picks. First rounders, get hefty contracts won't signing three first rounders forced the raiders to scrimp on the rest of their roster. The Mavericks are a lottery team, but I fear any team that has shooting coach who can raise the Andre Jordan's free-throw percentage from fifty eight last season two eighty two. Now that weird update in my column speculating that DeMarcus cousins might be a better fit for the warriors. And Kevin Durant. If it's one or the other I should have noted that even if Durant leaves it's doubtful. The warriors could resign cousins. He would have to accept a.
