"Or The while won MVP does not a hall of Famer make, but but but MVP's are like a a real decided. It's A. Very big deal for sure, IT'S A. Baseball especially in of the best player in the whole world for that year, so that incredible thing? Makes Mike Trout so amazing is that he's essentially been the MVP every year like you could give it to him without argument every single year the past seven years. I. Don't think anybody. You could have a little bit of discussion about it, but say no. This guy was definitely not the best player American late because he has been mookie betts that one year where he went off, and he deserved it in McKee or Mookie I'm looking looking. Movie, it's movie. Okay. The strong from unit Mamie son the Dow now that sounds like poop. book Mookie Mookie Mookie Betts Good. Mukhi sounds weird. Pronunciation People Calling Andrew Jones? Andre Jones goes like. Dude. Why are you doing my name's Andrew? Your guys are idiots. It went on for like multiple years it was. That's how you you WANNA. Make them different on drew. It was go strange like literally. The media was just calling him that and then one day. He's like now. It's Andrew Always Been Andrew. Oh. Okay. He. Underrated player by all accounts as well like the best defensive center fielder, was he? There's no like I. was a braves fan in the nineties I love? I mean I love. That team I was on my parents floor I watched them win. The world series I remember where I was. On the ground at the base of their better, they're trying to see, and it was eleven thirty and Like I love I love the Braids and Andrew Jones is incredible. Incredible is I. Don't know that I don't know that. He was underrated though he was, he was widely known as the best center fielder in baseball without question like no one questioned. At in his his time. Just his longevity is incredible. Like wasn't in the Big Leagues at Ninety World Series Of nineteen. Runs Razi. Soda like Juan Soto now is being praised the next coming like. Andrew Jones was younger than him. I think they were pretty comparable in age. Want him as. Well I. Think I think right, but. I don't feel like looking this up, but they're both very young. Andrew. He started fizzle out. Think Early Thirties, so my that may hit. Thirteen years in the big leagues along time, but he started to decline I think he didn't make like he wasn't like a twenty year career guy like you definitely wasn't. He was like a thirteen fourteen year I think and started decline as a couple. But. I wouldn't even take that career thirteen years. He got such good jumps on the ball. And and we had a teammate Michael Rocket. Remember him I do remember Michael, rocket. It didn't play with him. I played against him. Our Mutual Friend Zach says an Mike was like a lower draft, pick blade leg, a couple years and affiliated baldy new Nandy Ball. He's a really wiry, wiry dude. Like not a great hitter. would like a sneaky amazing Alpha were Zach who played in the big leagues and was like A. Ten year, minor leaguer multiple multiple years in double interplay like rockets, the best seller ever seen. He's like. He's like you don't appreciate him because he gets such jump on the ball that he just camps under stuff that other guys like don't catch. and has like you know you're Kinda. Right like he when he has offered ball. It's like he's only infield. How did you get there that fast well, not only. Andrew Jones was he was incredible. Getting reads on the ball and he had the brakes pitching staff, which hit their spots all the time, so he's already in a move towards the right center gap when they're throwing it outside of the plate, that kind of thing, really amazing instincts even -mongst an outfield of major leaguers who all have amazing instincts right? I. I remember Michael Rocket being like a utility guy towards even more impressive right he was, he just had incredible baseball instincts in general, and this is not a person anyone. Listening would know, but he's just a minor league that we played with who was just a like. Just geeked out on defense. He just was he just understood. Will had a going didn't matter where he played. He was just going the right direction the like he found the baseball. That's what he did and Natalie. Like that's that kind of speaks to a lot of minor leaguers We played with guys at your like houses guy not in the big leagues, or why didn't get his shot? I? Mean there's so many the talent. When you get to that level, baseball is absurd like everybody is so everybody is basically one injury away from being in the big leagues, and everybody's probably had that stress where like somebody teammate guy called upper, he played with team, got picked up in the big leagues in a month. Like it, just it. There's the the margin of error in the in how how close talent wise all these guys are is like people don't I don't think people realize. How good even in independent Bollock grits on these some of these guys are actually went to go in the ball in the Penta ball practice yesterday. The Chicago dogs opening I got kicked out for not having Kobe tests..

"With eagles ninety six he had more than fourteen hundred yards rushing one season. He was drafted in the second round out on Notre Dame by the forty niners made five pro bowl teams and he grew up in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. I know you're adopted. Yes and that's a dynamic that most people can't relate to unless you happen to be adopted. Tell me the circumstances about that and how it affected your early life. Well I didn't know about it earlier. I was actually I was adopted as a baby Which was great you know but as as I moved along I didn't really know I was adopted in the I kind of found out about it the worst way you can. I mean it was really a bad thing. I was on the basketball coroner's guy there. And he's older guy and he was not the nicest guy so he's he's kind of like to say things to me and said wait. A minute isn't isn't your sister's name Rhonda and I was like Yeah. That's my sister and he's like my sister so my come home and go. Hey you know whatever he's like look at me look at you. Look because she's lighter skinned than I am and he was lighter skin and he was like she looks like me. You know that's my sister. That's not your sister. So I'm freaking out. Go home and everything and Talk to my dad. You Know My dad's a tough guy too. That people didn't want to mess with so I'm like. Oh you know he's GonNa go tell this guy off or something's going to happen you know but then that's when that's how. I kind of find found out that I was adopted so that was just a tough way of finding out back then it was kinda different. I mean I don't know now now you know like I said I was adopted. My son was adopted as well from day one. We told him that he's these adopted. And so he can understand in and not have to feel like they're it means anything bad or anything like that for me it was. It was kind of tough at that time and made me feel like I had to prove myself. How old were you? I was I think it was around seven at that time. Probably seventy so still still young and really impressionable at at that time. What Message Did your dad? Your mom give you that. They love me. They didn't matter you know You know obviously there. They feel like they're my parents and and you know it's not anything to be alarmed about and I was telling them. Of course I'm not alarmed you know but Kinda shocking shocking. Just WanNa know you know. What did you Liz like? You say what is the deal so long did it take you to assimilate the information and feel comfortable with an That I don't remember exactly but I don't know if I ever was especially in my young in my younger days because When I look back on it now obviously when I was going through it I didn't really understand what was happening to me but I now when I look back I understand why I had to be number one in everything. I had to be the best at everything I had to be the best in school. I went to win. I don't care for spelling bee contest. If it was a math. Be WHATEVER IT IS. I want to win and I wanted to be the best of the best looking girl friend. Best everything cars everything as I got older. And so I think that I I. I now understand that. That's where where it was coming from was just kind of wanting people to accept me in to see that that I belong where I should be and what age did football come into your life. Then and around that time is when football really came into my life boat about eight years old. I started playing in that fuel the passion for the game a little bit. When you found out you had been adopted and you were trying to figure it all out but I think it was something that was happening even before. I got into organized sports because I was playing in the Sandlot. I was playing with guys who are older than me. Always had guys older than me around me. I think it made me tougher to and Mamie excel kind of quicker in earlier and I just think that I was always out there trying to show them and I'm GONNA knock the wind out of me all kinds of stuff about combat crime. Whatever Day was was real like I said he was really tell. So he's like man you know you go out there and you you hold your own and you'll be fine and all these things but I think I think it helped fuel. He actually yeah. Let me ask you a little bit about Harrisburg Pennsylvania because it is Pennsylvania and I spent some time in West Virginia and I know the the steel mentality in. What was the city like? Yeah it's like the blue collar in those hard hardworking people p small though Considering you know that is the capital is this the capital of Pennsylvania. People don't know that they're like what it's not philly. It's not Pittsburgh I mean why Harrisburg and I think that it's it. Made US have a chip. Most of the people are growing. They're kind of a little chip on their shoulder. About things you know is always new. York is always Philadelphia's always Pittsburgh's someone else and not us so even the players they're in a like myself in Shawn McCoy. Another player that came came from there. We went to the same high school with Bishop McDevitt and you kind of have a chip on your shoulder. You WanNa prove yourself and you want to. You can make it because a lot of the people there would say things like to me and they will say to him too. Because I know him. And that you're not gonNA make it or no one else made it out of here what's GonNa make you any different. It was always like something's going to happen but we have some great players. They came before us. They didn't make it because of whatever reason they got in trouble or you know different. Things happen to them derailed them. So I know for me. I really wanted to prove that I was going to make a be successful. Let me ask you about the pipeline to Notre Dame. How did you end up at Notre Dame now? I know you went to a Catholic. High school was that the automatic pipeline does. Where was her? No doubt that you were going to because you were an outstanding ball player and up at Notre Dame. I thought there was doubt because my parents told me you know we brought you up. We raised you. We know that you are GonNa make the right decision and then it turned into. We're not GonNa let you make the wrong decisions going to Notre Dame buddy our to go his whole life and I was going to Notre Dame. I didn't realize that I when I was courting all these teams and it was just so exciting. You all these great coaches coming into my living room. Paterno and bone Sham Boeckler. All these amazing coaches you know I could have went to any of those teams and just been so happy so it wasn't like my head was swimming and I think they realize that and they say well we're GONNA help you narrow it down to Notre Dame could ask you. I gotta ask you the obvious. Question Your first impression of Lou Holtz. When he's he's so articulate so smooth in in refined that you're going to be impressed with him I was impressed by parents. Were impressed everyone. Who had a chance to talk was impressed in my coaches and high school? Were impressed my my head coach coach. Renfrew who who are love it was just like such a such a great mentor for me. He he thought that it would be a great fit for me as well. I gotta ask you also another question. I have talked to other Notre Dame ball players and others that played for Lou Holtz and they all told me there was always somebody on the team that could mimic Lou Holtz. Oh you have to be able to do a Tim. Tim Brown told me some great stories about that. But you tell somebody what they would do do with him as a coach behind his back a little bit tell you there are a lot of guys they could do him. Very well One of the best though he passed away Andre Jones Play with me was a linebacker. Great player great personality and he would talk like him and I swear if you were not looking at him and you were looking at the way you would think coached. Us Walk in there. He'll scare you you. Hey guys what are you doing? Whatever I'm going. Oh we all scared you know. He had to list down everything I mean he was better than I am and in guys would always joke him behind his back because I swear for him to be what hundred and forty pounds or something soaking wet. You're very afraid of him because he he did. He demanded respect. He's one of those guys that when he comes out there he has his piping he's he's he's hitting their pipe in his head and you know when he starts to walk across there. That is serious. Now let's get ready for practice either done. I don't think I know a coach who has as many one liners as he does. Motivating one liners. He told me one time. We got a ball player that was not playing particularly in the NFL. That had been very good for him and he said he said I called him. He said by the way so and so he says that somebody steal your uniform and he said what do you mean? He said well. I saw him on. Sunday did not look like you and hung up on but what was his pregame halftime speeches like amazing amazing. I mean he can make you run into a brick wall. I'm telling you man. What what are the ones that I definitely remember? As when we were playing against Miami hurricanes and that was the big showdown every time we play them every year and he just said Jimmy Johnson. You know what I'm talking about Jimmy Johnson this and that and they're taming this anti till he's A. I'll tell you what you don't take a backseat to anybody. He said. Because you're going to look out here and you're GonNa see me on the fifty yard line and you're GONNA SEE. I'm going to be kicking his book so he was like. I'M READY TO FIGHT. And it just like got so fired up but he said it his way and it was just awesome for him to say something like that like. He's ready to fight. He's ready to go out there and play and hope that we're ready to play. And so he he knows what to say at the right time to get you motivated and there was many times he kick us off the field times the hill start practice all over again. We'd be halfway through practice okay. We're going all the way back to the first period. If that's what he thinks we need to do. And of course we'd be like coach. No please whatever no no. I'm not playing no after you. Whatever and you have a perfect practice after that if you weren't quite into it I guarantee you'll be into it after that. Ricky watters is with us in the studio. We're talking about not only outstanding college career which resulted in a national championship. We'll talk about that season. In just a moment. Some of the players he played with at Notre Dame and then we'll transition into his final eleven season career in the national football league with the forty niners Philadelphia and Seattle and as I pointed out he is a member of the ten thousand yard rushing team and he had six straight seasons rushing for more than a thousand yards. I remember what the forty niners he had that high stepping gait as he ran toward the toward the end zone with a hell of a receiver as well. We continue on sports.

She talked about writing force and she came up with that song and We'll play that for you coming up here in a little bit. mclovin what do you have for me with the poll whole question today. Okay since we're on hall of fame I'm GonNa give you all the there's a group of risers from this year and you can only vote for one of them. These are guys who jumped by double digits in vote percentage. Okay Scott Rowland Gary Sheffield Bill Wagner Billy Billy Wagner. Sorry Bill Wagner's producer. We work that Bill Wagner should be in the hall of fame crafty. Five tool yeah Arbil Wagner Hall of Famer Todd Helton Andrew Jones and Omar vizquel all jump. That group jumped because there was more more spots on the ballot. He's a Lotta guys got recently. Is there one of those guys. Scott Rolen Gary Sheffield Billy Wagner. Todd Helton Andre Jones and Omar Vizquel. I'd have to look at the numbers there. They're all about the same except well. This scale was different. I he's up there to me on the short list of greatest field reasonable. First of all time I remember Gary Sheffield being terrifying was to face. He was somebody that you knew where he was in the lineup. Helton put up some monster numbers but it seemed like every a year that put up great numbers. Everybody would say the same thing planning Colorado planning cores. You don't hear that as much nowadays. Why is that? Have they taken care of the. Baseball's Nolan Aeronautics. Numbers are pretty crazy but nobody. It doesn't feel like we're attaching that an asterisk by whatever numbers you have at course. I have one more question on Jones. Everything was a period where he was like the best fielding center fielder he was great he had he had a great run there but I don't know what his numbers are. You know even Jeff Can Jeff. Kent was a great stick. He wasn't a great fielder and he wasn't user friendly with the media and that's probably why he's not getting much just love for the hall of fame but it's fun to discuss. The problem is is when we start arguing and then you start criticizing then all all I want to know is that one vote voter. Who didn't vote for Jeeter? Just just tell me why then saw and I'm fine with whatever logic you have because I'm sure that there's some logic attached to this. I just don't want a witch hunt. Here we'll talk to Fran for Shila. Espn College basketball analyst. He was on the call last night. Kansas Kansas state in this is how it sounded courtesy of Learfield. IMG.

So obviously, you're familiar with the story money if I told it too many times, but tell it again, it's a good one Tory. We got our failures are always appreciated by listeners. Did we did some nice, you know, we had a nice couple of moments early on? I joked with him about Andrea Jones was about to pass Joe Torry in career RBI's. He was new to the dodgers as well was Andre Jones. And I said, do you think Joe that if he gets too close to that record that you might start pinch hitting for hey, lay down lay down the bun here under Jones, I'm the cleanup hitter. Skip like, yeah. I know. But this is what's best for the team. Keep them from doing that. He was delighted by that. Yeah. I'm going to take that under consideration. Then I guess imbued with a little bit too much. And he's chuckling he likes my humor. Here we go. I said Joe they made a movie about your life starring Paul Sorvino a couple of years ago. Of all the people under the sun that could have played you Hollywood went with Paul Sorvino. Are you flattered or insulted by that? And he said Paul's a dear friend. "They had four turnovers in the last six minutes and thirty five seconds altogether, scoring drought of six thirty five. Indiana's defense, really struggled the first few minutes of this came out, very flat footed, but since then have been great keeping the ball and all pressures been really good. And the defense had help side has been better for Indiana. A UCA really has not gotten a good look at the the last several possessions at all it's not gonna miss an open shots in the NFL is taken everything away from Indiana basketball. Devante green with it grows. It right side. Al Durham on the way, he's rebels at once gives it back out. The devante then digested stretches accurate Roberts. Roberts left side holds on dribbles. At once. He gets the mortgage walking on the left wing back is way down against Unruh. Does throws it outside of devante. He fakes he drives the little teardrop road goes the horn and the rebound tipped out and down the four comes. He gives to Jones the Andre judge back in the game for central Arkansas. He is the glue this offensive team for the offense four set to Arkansas. I should say as unruly gives it up. Jones takes it to the top at left whistle blows got a foul called. And this is going to go against central Arkansas. Looks like. And they whistle. Now, I'm not sure. Cantor. Smick spurt another illegal screen at the top of the key. But to your point on the Andre Jones is a guy only five eleven hundred sixty pounds. But he really good coming off a ball screens and really gets his offense in the flow by being able to either shoot for shot himself, a free for his teammates coming off of all here's out Durham left side, pastor Romeo Langford, why for the Justin Smith top of the key right side is back out the mortgage the top he goes left side with the past limbic Roberts. She dribbles it to the top. And the Justin Smith he goes right side with the wind dries said, we'll try to slave one hand ended bounces back off the rim heart and into the hands of central Arkansas. Judge or the ball on the left wing. Throws it outside to on rule for a long three-pointer that messes Justice Beth Scott, the rebound, and he almost throw it away. But Al Durham comes up with the basketball. Excellent across the timeline against year clears it off the world, we on the left perimeter outside the Zach Roberts defined Smith off to Al Durham, and he has filed by mom this year. Picks up his second personal. So I think that's just what five vows against that. Rugged saucer still not in the bonus. So the animal take it out of our only two fouls for Indiana. This has been a very clean bogging. A lotta whistles early in the game is automate shots with both teams have really cooled down here. Offense Durham with the basketball takes left to Romeo plank with it on the perimeter. Then dumps it inside the Durham as pass hit the rim. Aol had to chase down or you would have had a dunk. Here's Joon Diallo. He works inside. Throws it up and knocks it off the glass and into a whole. Mortgage got six points. Dow twenty nine to nineteen this is Jones right side. Pass to unruly on rule. Looks inside throws at the Mondesir inside. Throws up a shot won't go chip Roberts for the board down the Florida. Al Durham, not Joon mortgage, right wing. John pulls it out still rebel, Duff's. Cloud low to Romeo Langford works against mandis here inside he forces one up and gets fouled on the boy and Montassir's just picked up his third personal. So he has got three already. We'll see Romeo post up too often at that time in transition got low post position. And I think he ought to do that ward on that looks pretty good couple of dribbles into the lane. Took his time rose up and created some contact there to get to the free throw line Lanker with four points of the ball game hitting sixty eight percent from the line, and he knocks dabbling daddy got his of the contest. And that is the first free throw taken by you in this ball game. So Rubio makes it a one for one and he'll have a second chance here. As average is seventeen point seven game leads Indiana and story just barely over Jawad Morgan who has seventeen three scoring average and a second free. When drops his well for Langford who's got six now. Thirty one nineteen Indiana. They raise the lead to seventeen nothing right now for Indiana. There's a steel by Zach Roberts down the Florida Justin Smith takes it all the way laser. Just got as a ballgame. And Indiana's Galina fourteen thirty three nineteen. Here's a dry by Jones left side. Pass comes to Bennett Bennett. Jones back to down inside the Cobol Cobol puts MRs at tipped up. No got his own rebound puts it up. Eight point thirty three twenty one breaks the streak for central Arkansas. They had been really struggling to make shots. Now. Here's Rick Roberts, the dribble outside adjusted strength. He goes right to Romeo Lankford holds onto it gives it to John's back where we owe on the perimeter again. But John download play a two, man. Gave me they flip it out the mcroberts who flees. Devante. He fires. Great has got his third ball game is nine point. Thirty six twenty one. Here is the Andre Jones too on route batch Unruh fires up a jump shot. He misses and the rebound comes off to. Devante grade quickly off the Robie on the right side pulls up goes baseline froze up a little left-hander the won't go and balls stripped out of bounds. It'll belong to central Arkansas Romeo passed up fifteen voter they're entering defense. Did not come out or close out nearly aggressive enough Romeo wanted to get to the rim. He's got a few comfortable taking that fifteen footer there. Make that shot. I on defense will come out and be really aggressive trying to stop your shot which will open up a driving England thirty six to twenty one Indiana top. Here's the outrage. Jones left side passed to Kyle lewd. He's back any feeds into Chatham was also back in baseline chatterbox out gives the co bowel outside of the. I'm Ray Jones working the perimeter dribbles. It left stops gives to co Balfour three from outside and he hits her this kid can knock down. He's got a second of the game is eight point thirty six twenty four lead evaporates down to twelve you. Here's Rubio Lanker with the ball Zach Roberts takes it right away. Throws it outside the Robichaud Robbie down inside kicks back demographics for a three riots off the rim. No good. Rebound comes with the outrage. Jones back the other way, John slides, right? Throws up a shot blocked by devante into the hands of black by Romeo. Romeo comes away with the rebound. Here's Justice inside and lays up at other one. Goes there been really good in transition time ones rebel rose up to finish high off the glass, really good move just Smith and even better pass by Romeo child with the basketball dribbles and throws it out the data. Right Jones dependent on the left wing. He's gotta by Romeo Lankford. His way lost the handle. Got it back. Throws it outside of Jones gives it up to Kyle. Top of the key works for a screaming dries, and he's fouled by John. Morton has got number two. So mortgage picks up his second personal foul without. To go here. First half of Indiana has a thirty eight twenty four advantage over central Arkansas. We'll be back in basketball care source radio that workable airfield. What do you ask from a friend.

Four and six but don't go by the records. We find that out Arica a couple of times earlier this season. There's no doubt about that each and every games a new game. Don, hoosiers are coming off a big win against Fowler. Very emotional win a last second shot huge huge victory for this Indiana team, you cannot allow yourself to come into a game like this because you're playing a team that's four and six can come out flat footed Indian has got to come out play with a chip on their shoulder play as well as hard as they have the last few ballgames if Indiana does that on paper they should win this game. But to your point he can't play against record. You gotta step out and play your game each and every time out it was thinly enough. Settle Arkansas has a ball club. That is really young. I mean, they start a sophomore freshman. Senior sophomore senior. But coming off the bench. They go with a freshman sophomore a redshirt freshman a sophomore. So they have a very young basketball team with the exception of those two seniors start young and physical too. I mean, you look at this team that's four and six maybe you think well, they just don't have the talent that they need. You look at the roster. They've got some big guys that's got some athleticism. They've got some length. They've got some scoring this coaching staff for UCA likes the pieces that they have. And I think to your point this is a young team. That's still try to develop still trying to get stronger. So be a big test for the bears tonight against the Indiana team that plays really physical at the defensive end. I'd be interested in seeing here at this matchup. Andre Jones five eleven sophomore leading scorer for UCLA. Indiana has done a great job against undersized point guards this year this back for for Indiana's big and physical and plays. A really in your face type of defense. Be interesting to see if the Andre Jones gets off to a fast start or not this UCLA pairs team. Really kind of goes as he goes if Indiana can be physical up front beyond the the key. And 'cause the Andrzej Jones to really struggle not only getting his shot, but then also getting his teammates involved. I think that bodes really well for Indiana hoosiers defensively up to set the tone here play tough physical extremely aggressive defense. Make it really tough for UCLA UCLA to get anything in their offensive sets Vinnie. And it could do that. I look at this is a huge advantage for Indiana. The hoosiers should win handedly. Interestingly enough DRA George played alongside a guy but the name of Jordan Howard last year. You know, who Jordan Howard is? I do not know he's the brother of Marcus Howard for Marquette. One of the leading sports player. Well, his brother last year was a senior. And he was the second leading score quite wise in the country. So he was just like his brother Marcus and are both Chuck Howard sons, of course, who played here debt. So tough to replace scoring. Right. That's one thing that this bears team has got to do this season when they have struggled against more physical teams. It's because they haven't been able to score the basketball struggled against Louisville. Howard Jones only had two points in that ball games. I really do think that it's going to be important for the end of the pressure the ball make it really tough on this backward to score. I think Indiana's advantage offensively is the front court. Again. I'm Jon Morgan is just been an absolute feast inside. Expect to see some double teams if he catches ball in the low block. I mean, the teams have gotta learn baller did not double team Jon at all in that ball game. And he made a pay thirty five points per career-high. Expect to see some defenses star double team Morgan down the low block. He's got to be ready to pass the ball and these three point shooters for Indiana ready to knock down shop Jawad mortgage proved to be a three point shooter himself last ball game. Four four four four six from three point range of that contest. He's hitting forty eight percent from the three point line. I'm a season at this point. He's gotten better each and every year and we've seen it from from the time. He was a freshman. You could tell this kid could handle the ball. He's a big body, and he had the ability to shoot the ball. But you talked a lot over the last couple of years about building that competence. I think John star finally starting to play with a bunch of competence from beyond the three point line. He does not hesitate. He takes great shops. If the shots not there. He's patient back down or drive the ball to the basket free for teammates. On Morgan to your point on not only you on the inside inside the pain. But now he's got that outside three point shot. Makes you guard him twenty five feet from the basket grilling difficult to guard right now. That's why expect to see some double teams here tonight, which will open up shooting opportunities for guys like rob fantasy hopefully Romeo length or get some daylight here and teams don't focus as much on him because of how well here's an interesting sidelight to in the sense of what Indiana's coach Archie Miller would like to do he wants to get more playing time for several of the other guys in his ballclub, Deasy Anderson. Being what of course, click the Boers another who he thinks deserves it because he's been improving and practice kind of behind the scenes were nobody's really notice. And that of course, you're also talking about Jake. Very little play time issue if Indiana plays well gets out to elite I expect to see a bunch of playing time for those guys hoosiers have got two games here Wednesday night and Saturday night. I don't wanna look pass these games. But after these games is eleven days, Indiana, get some time to rest playing a lot of guys in these next couple of games. I think it's going to be important, Indiana. Yes. Ready for this big ten season. You gotta be healthy. Your legs have got to be well rested. I agree with you. I think the coaching staff tonight. We'll play a lot of guys assuming Indiana gets out to a sizable lead to season guys coming off the bench to contribute tonight. It's going to be important for it to be healthy and well rested headed into victim. Rob fantasies been playing really well, devante gray came off the bench and the ball game against Butler and had the same numbers at least from an assist to turnover ratio. That did rob fantasy both had five assists one turnover. Twenty-one medicine that game for devante grain that to me was one of his best performances of the season. I agree with you. Devante did not try to do too much in the game. He led the game kinda come to him. I think that's how he can best. Help is Indiana team coming off the bench playing fifteen to twenty minutes a ballgame and running the offense not forcing anything not trying to shoot a bunch of threes. Let the game come to him. He is skilled enough. An impact player for this team. If he doesn't force it. That's what we saw follower. I agree with you. I think it was his his best game over the last couple of years. He played really well here we saw good play for Justin Smith again. He's been getting better yet seven points in that contest. He had seven rebounds in the ballgame. Justice has gotta continue to do that on a consistent basis. He's done it. The road now, and he needs to continue that and if he could finish the progress like that starts making some of the shots that he is capable of aching. He's going to be a force having competent shooting the basketball even from fifteen feet. I think it's going to be really important for Justin. He has struggled with his competence a bit. He has not felt comfortable enough to take the fifteen foot shot. He preferred to drive to the basket and teams have been kind of digging in their heels on waiting for him underneath. Oh, if he shoots the ball. Well with confidence from fifteen to twenty feet that will cause a defense to stretch out garden, which will open up driving opportunities. Justice miss guy. I think that needs to catch the ball. And look I read the defense then make a decision on what his move is. He did that better in the Butler game made a couple of big shots for Indiana. Not only a three point shot, but made that huge dunk underneath the basket. I think it was to tie the game of go up by two. He did a nice job late in the game come to him. But he slowed down offensively, which I think is going to be important for him. Is there a key to this ball game tonight from your perspective as far as I was concerned? I think defensively India has got to set the tone and let this UCLA team know who the bigger and better faster team. I think if the Indiana forcing turnovers defensively it's gonna make the game. A lot easier to get out to a big leap right Tarja report is brought to you by Indiana University health for the highest performing orthopedic care. Just visit IU health dot org slash kgo hoosiers. In that vein. Indiana is a healthy basketball team who Abana bailable all year long the players that habit available all year, long only two or Michigan that of course, was race Thompson with a concussion syndrome and Jerome hunter. Who has the serious leg injury that he has had a couple of procedures odd. Earlier this year, he out buries out there right now in warm ups just watching TV actually dressed in many sweatshirt, nevertheless, he's out there. And he continues to be I think a real personality under which when you watch out here. Teammates terrifically. Well, he's always got a smile on his face. He's not lamenting his difficult situation physically. That's more important than you think team culture guys get along together. Most teams that are really good. They've got a group of guys that really love playing together you start to see this. And I agree with you. You look out here not able to play in sweats. But he's out there supporting his team got big smile on his face. Just love..

"A mixture this year, but they're still pretty young. We're very young. We we have ninth Scharmann sophomores out of our thirteenth scholarship guys. We lost a couple of key seniors last year that scored a lot of points grabbed a lot of rebounds. So I feel like we're going to be a good team. You know, we've gotten better as the falls gone along. Illegal a cars, we need to be good by January. And then our conference comes down to three games in March. So. Indiana only makes you better hostile environment. Good team. Good program. We love to play these games because we get help us get better for future. Obviously the one thing that struck me and watch looking at your roster. You got a lot of size for program that that, you know, most mid majors don't have near the size that you have. We've been blessed to find some guys that Martikan player that had great size in the thing. I like about him is their mobility. They can move sometimes size is a little bit. Like a house distant move, very far these guys actually run and jump pretty well, they need a little more strength. And I think that's their use. And that's where we'll be challenged tonight with the strength inside game of the Anna. But this can only make us better than we do like, our pieces talk a little bit of your point guard. Andre Jones these taking over from guy that was pretty prolific as a score Jordan, our well, he get to play alongside Jordan last year. And I think that helped him a lot and and he's assumed a lot of that role. He'll never be the score Jordan was but he's a playmaker. As a leader. He kind of goes as we go when he's good we've been good. And when teams have gotten after him and slowed him down a little bit it set us back a little bit. So we're trying to get him consistent. You know? I keep reminding them. He's only a few games Andrew sophomore year. So he's still learning also. But he's a good little player. More ladies with us style of play coach we're gonna play fast we like to get up and down we'll shoot threes, if we're open I think we play a disciplines Donald think we'd take bad shots. Man-to-man defense tried to negate your easy inside. And I think if we have a weakness sometimes we don't rebound as well as we should. But overall, we're going to try pretty good pace. Talk a little bit about your impressions of India. I'll I'll love the pieces. I think you, you know, you start with a like Morgan inside is just a load, and then you got McDonalds all American in length and the pieces around him, and they kind of looked like to me, they're kind of finding their niche as far as their role declaration. Those two guys are leading them. The other guys are chipping in nice pieces. I've known Archie for a while. And I knew when he was hired. Here was good higher, and he would get the pieces together. But. You know, they've won a lot of close games, which I think helps them, you know, a lot of people say, well, they might not be that good. I don't look at it that way, I think when you went close games, you're pretty good. And that's going to help them in the big ten for sure critical factors for your basketball team tonight. I think we have to do a good job on Morgan inside. And then I think we have to make sure that we don't turn the basketball over and give them easy opportunities. So much of our success comes getting shots. And if you're turning the ball over at a high rate, which young teams do sometimes it kind of derails your offense. So we have to be solid on the office van with ball security. And then I think we have to do a good job on the inside and rebound. The ball you play. A lot of games gets really good teams on the road without question. I don't be intimidated at all by the all will they told people recently. I think we're past the point of getting intimidated, we love the, you know, the aura of these places the teams player, really good. So it's not like we feel like we're just gonna. Coming here. It's going to be easy. But I think the days of us looking around, and you know, looking at the banners and all that stuff. It's it's conic. But I don't think our guys really pay much attention that I think they're so calloused by that now that it comes down to a really good basketball team playing against him. We've gotta do. Thanks. It takes in order to be successful. And.

"They don't know what they'd road trip. No terrible road trip. We're trying to lose. Yeah. Man is nowhere team. They're doing the thing game where they're starting. Are we doing like a team round of this? I say, let's do what dig up the thrill five many that the mind just released to an ROY fit your ice cats playoff chase tiebreaking scenarios because we might as well just do everything here in the first segment before we get into the weekend that we had at moss Miami. There's plenty to talk about their and Billy makes a strong case why everybody's dumber nowadays. More on that in a second. But the Miami Heat they've beaten the clippers on this road trip. They just beat the pelicans on the road own the pelicans, I think we can say that outright Miami, just so much better than the Pels head to head. It's been a really good road trip outside of that horrible game against Utah. Which is one of the worst games I've ever seen this franchise play. And now, they're just two games back of the of the sixth seed, I believe in the Eastern Conference west coast trip. You're going to have one of those games. West coast trip is usually a part where like if you're a bad team. She's totally unravels. But this west coast trip has galvanized the team, and hey the team seems to be doing better with Wayne wait on it airplane mode yesterday. Dude dare Jones I'm not doing this with Derek Jones junior. Man. I'm not doing it. Is it an insult him to call him like a poor man's the Andre Jordan? Or is he more versatile than the Andre Jones juniors? Not at all like the Andre Jordan is a high fly like dunker. Yeah. But he's also not a century. He's. Wing. But in terms of like how he scores at the basket like he just had a couple of plays yesterday that reminded me of Andre Jordan. He reminds me of the pogo men more modern version of Deandra during because he can't get out there and hold the ball like one hundred. This is a horrible comparison Jordan's watch yesterday. I mean airplane mode was doing things that the Andre Jordan does just like throwing down dunks. Where it looks like he has a go go. Yeah. Jit arm. Oh, he's in the middle of the paint. And he's like dunking. You wonder how his arm is gang there? Ryan Cortez researcher for highly questionable.

"It's a hundred and forty years old played on the same size field saved for the height of the Mt. Is virtually the exact same game. And forget is like JD Martinez who don't bring a glove to the yard. But that's neither here nor there when it comes to a record about a playoff staff though for baseball. I gotta draw the line Rafael Devers had an incredible postseason. There have been guys in the modern era who have been young and had incredible postseasons, but they mean different things. So a couple of stats came out last night about Rafael Devers, I wanna hit on. He turns twenty two in five days October twenty fourth okay? Playoff RBI's, postseason RBI's and profession or in major league baseball before the age of twenty one Rafael Devers, now second all-time. He ties Miguel Cabrera for second all time and passes Mickey Mantle Mickey Mantle ten career RBI's before his twenty first birthday is twenty first birthday the thing that baffles me or before the age of twenty water. But this all must have been before the age of twenty two my apologies. Turns twenty to the twenty fourth so playoff RBI's before the age of twenty two Mickey Mantle with ten Denver's and Miguel Cabrera with twelve under Jones with fourteen now the Jones won while he only did it in a couple of postseasons. He was playing on some teams that went to the postseason every single season. So he had more opportunities. He was also playing in a in a postseason era where he had three rounds to do Miguel Cabrera to me a little bit more impressive because in two thousand and three when he got here. He was he was a young guy. Play with Jeff co nine and Dontrelle Willis and Juan Pierre only made that one playoff run. Now. I know he was traded a year and a half later to the Detroit Tigers, but he only had one big playoff run before his age twenty two season. So more impressive to be McGaw Cabrera put up those numbers as a twenty year old back in two thousand and three. Now, you wanna get really impressed Mickey Mantle this guy was only playing in World Series. There was no championships series. This guy would win win. The pennant go to the World Series and drive in runs. Dave ten RBI's before the age of twenty two. That's a pretty impressive note. The fact that the three guys who have passed it have played in the last twenty years. She told you everything you need to know about that Mickey Mantle stat, Dave. Yes, he had ten RBI at the age of twenty one at the age of twenty. Fifty four because he was injured when he was twenty two. So that's that's the number. I'm looking at here. David fifty four they didn't go to the World Series. Anyway, wouldn't matter. Right. Yeah. He didn't play right. He didn't Chris your your New York Giants were handled Vic words and the Cleveland Indians. That's what was going on. But in his age twenty one season. You're right there. That's what we're getting at here. So that's that's before the age of twenty two. These are those notes now for playoff home runs before the age of twenty two Bryce Harper with four Mickey Mantle with four Miguel Cabrera with four Andre Jones with four so all the guys you just heard on that list. Bryce Harper though has been hit his home runs with nobody on base. I guess though, Dave because he's not on the ten Rb Islas, but he is on the floor home run list before the age twenty two and then Rafael Devers now with three. So Rafael Devers by next season. If the Boston Red Sox make another push could solidify himself as one of the best young postseason players of all time. We'll have to take that with the modern era because clearly Mickey Mantle as a twenty one twenty two year old and this by the way, Mickey mantles been at the forefront of my mind. I got sick last weekend. I was out on Monday. Remember, Dave when I get sick. There's a movie I've been watching since I was a I guess it was my dad's showed it to me. It's the Billy crystal sixty one Barry pepper Thomas. Jane incredible movie, one of the best HBO made movies, in my opinion. One of the better baseball movies ever buried pepper played Dale Earnhardt senior in the Dale Earnhardt number three movies, dude..
