NFL stars urge Clemson to remove slave owner's name
"Hey these are some rough days now for Clemson football you've got some stuff brewing down their former Clemson Clemson players at the Andre Hopkins and deshaun Watson they're actually petitioning the university to remove the name of John C. Calhoun from the school's honors college with Hopkins noting that the slave owners influence is the reason he does not mention the university's name when he's introduced well for NFL games yeah this is heavy that's how who served as vice president under John Quincy Adams work back in eighteen twenty five through eighteen twenty nine now yeah he advocated for slavery saying it was a positive good now the campus that part me the Clemson campus is built on
Seattle Seahawks soar in the 2020 NFL Draft
"Seattle's great because it and I know produce and some stuff out on John Schneider and Pete Carroll I think the best combination hello John Tyler really given a run right now they just know what they are and they know what they like and they they just got a really athletic linebacker again to replace an aging cagey right to play next above Bobby Wagner then they can move him in the middle after that Darrell Taylor they needed pass rushers the side a couple of guys and then they add this kid to look like clown he's gonna leave and and add to the cardinals the Andre Hopkins in the second round twice a a Simmons and what they did Josh Jones is gonna be a starting right tackle late they already have DJ Humphries at left tackle

"It makes absolutely zero sense o'brien had an issue with the Andre Hopkins there was also may be money involved well the Texans was about money why did you pay that guy more why didn't you renegotiate his contract and when you have a young quarterback don't you want to do your best to surround your young quarterback with the most options I know a lot of people get on the Texans for what they gave up for Laramie tonsil that's fair but they have good intentions there their intentions were to get a franchise left tackle but you do that and then on the other hand your trade for a running back who has seen it's better days and a wide receiver who I hope he will be okay and I happen to like him but he has a concussion history so that's what you're now surrounding your young star quarterback in deshaun Watson and you think it's a good idea to trade away de Andre Hopkins it's it's still makes me scratch my head so this is the damage control this is bill o'brien's idea to try and save his relationship with the Shawn Watson it's getting branding cooks but then yet again whatever you're doing isn't going to make what you already had a better so this is the deal it is what it is bill o'brien it better work and don't tell me success this year for the Texans is just getting back to the postseason and when in the game I've seen that before from the Texans the Texans want to be great that's my question because right now it seems as if their culture their organization or just satisfied with being good in the playoffs I don't think the Texans are super ball team last year there have been a GMO has consistently made the playoffs so you would think you would do your best to position you closer to a Superbowl by trading away Dion dreck Hopkins you've taken a step back this offseason no matter what bill o'brien things of that David Johnson of that Brandin cooks that you acquired in that trade also the second round pick the fourth round pick in the fourth round pick that you acquired when in reality also gave up a second round pick a fourth round pick and one of the better wide receivers in the game so the Texans the main are farther away from getting a Super Bowl what would bill o'brien keep on getting more more power that organization maybe they're okay with just being good this relationship with the Shawn Watson is going to be one of the more fascinating things to see unfold as I've said it before I'll say it again when bill o'brien trade away Johns Hopkins I think he basically guaranteed that this is going to end in an ugly divorce and you would really believe that eventually the Texans are gonna move on from bill o'brien and they'll pick the odds you know to Shawn Watson if that's where it gets to but what happens if this gets bad and the Shawn Watson just says right franchise tag me down the road but I don't want to work out a long term contract he doesn't see him as the person that would do that but you never know in this era player empowerment.

"The Andre Hopkins and didn't even get a first round pick form and hold on wait a second wait a second wait a second I also got rid of David Johnson how about that his Thomas Dimitroff a delayed the falcons he's confident that Todd Gurley will make a major impact on the falcons offense if and when which number to say when he passes a physical I think he's going to do a very good job contributing to this offense yet again thinking about all the skills that he brings to the table for us Jeff not only as a running runner but also as a guy that can can catch the ball again we we are we're very encouraged by what we think you can ask us Todd Gurley's former team the rams got a tweet from him today Todd Gurley wrote on Twitter ran past due ten fifty money a sap and then clay Matthews quote tweeted said you and me both G. G. better get some interest with that too rams let's go get those two guys their money to attend go buy low was on the NFL network he says he feels a hundred percent healthy he's ready to play some football I feel one hundred percent I feel like if there was a keen today had to be able to go out there and perform so if you had to go into a mini camper you can go right in there and get you ready to compete I feel as normal as possible so yes all right well to what we'll talk about this tomorrow is to a guaranteed to be the second quarterback taken off the board or will there be a surprise.

"Nabbing the Andre Hopkins what many people believe it is the heist of the century in getting Hopkins away from the Texans for such a small price he also says he's not worried the trade could fall through it all happens pretty quickly Steve got it out of the office and said we had sun works and they were thrown in and got it done and like I said earlier I don't get too far into it because it's not official yet but obviously a tremendous player has been great has been healthy played at a high level for a long time the world felt about it there's not concern because those aren't official as far as I know at this point but we'll get it done hi I'm there's obviously the medical field in person now have much bigger fish to fry this point so it's it's been slower than it would be but I have no doubt to be down for the draft let me tell you giving Kyler Murray and that offense de Andre Hopkins isn't it this way in the end to get them for us all to get in for a song compared with the five digs went for is it incredible heist by that front office and for Kingsbury and deandre Hopkins still in his prime and all they have to give up basically is David Johnson's broken contract overpaid broken David Johnson when you already have a a new replacement forming Kenyan Drake to me this is a they're older slam dunk grand slam home run to move for the cardinals and it gives it a Norma's target to Kyler Murray right off the bat I mean whereas there is no way right there's no way to criticize this move from a cardinals perspective the only criticism is that the Texans eight gave up on a big target for their quarterback and B. didn't get enough no in fact.

"Attack me I want the opportunity to you know shut down I know Marty Cooper or don de Andre Hopkins back over any of these guys and you know it it's it's really exciting and Derry slate went on to say more about Philadelphia and and his conversation Fletcher **** the talking Fletcher that's really convinced me this is where I'm supposed to be you know I just had all the positive things consistently going to plow something I am doing and something I look forward to doing so I want to be a part of something great what you're really putting my head this where you need to be man this is where it's at one were running the fans love you and you know I think there are two things look at there I I think you're gonna get a motivated dietary slaves come from Detroit we know what that organization is one of the most embarrassing organizations in in in sports certainly in the NFL they don't you know if they don't win anything they they they've they've won I think only two playoff games somewhere down there tired of history and I can't remember the last time Detroit Lions won a playoff game maybe I'm wrong eating there I don't I can't remember one to be honest with you by yeah I you know I think that's a part of it I think you got a look at Fletcher **** to where you know he said glowing things about the city and what your **** is a guy who and I'm not telling anybody feel bad for clutch **** sees guys made a ton of money in this town and you know it's it's been a great player but I think he's kind of Fletcher **** is a guy who I think is underappreciated certainly when you look at what he's done in last year and this is why will the Hargreave moved so much where last year a bunch of people were getting off Fletcher **** was lack of production when you look at what what he we was playing next to Emily Jackson who was supposed to be a guy that would alleviate a lot of pressure off watch he got her we want then you know Tim Jergens bin and now one of the last two years you are guys like Brandon rush I can't even name any other defensive tackles they were on this roster last year that's how bad it was what you guys are getting double triple teams I mean I just think back to that Seattle playoff game he was the only reason the eagles were in that game at all I mean he was a monster defensively and you know he was given that contract in twenty sixteen that big time contract one high speed ever for defensive tackle on I think he's lived up to what a hundred percent very rarely heard played hurt in twenty eighteen down the stretch on you know you you after that saints game the eagles lost played in you always wear a boot had to get surgery and you talked a great draft picks and an eagles to take heat for some of the pics they missed on how Rosen does that was one of how Rosen's first drafts and that was a an absolute knockout of a pic of getting Fletcher **** and for him to you know speak so glowingly about Philadelphia obviously he's trying to get a good player here but I thought this article was pretty cool talking about the relationship between Gary slain Fletcher **** on NBC sports Philadelphia I'd encourage everybody to go on over there and check it out by room Frank I. two one five five nine two nine four nine four I'm sorry when we get back we'll talk a little bit about basketball hall of fame some of the inductee which is just the start of the glass so we'll talk about that a little bit when we return I'm Tom Kelly with.

"It also the the the colts defensive people have talked that **** about how difficult it is to cover the Andre Hopkins in just before for for just about every game they played the last couple years in so I think there's a pretty healthy respect for the way he plays and for them to trade him away without yes I think all three of sort of saw him as the focal point of the offense outside of what's in it for them to treat awaits sort of felt like I think the concept sort of like a British divisions open well that meant okay good well that leads me into my last question for you which is yeah coming into the the off season the Texans I think on the betting board were the favorites in the AFC south you could argue the Titans might have been the best team at the end of the year given what they did in the postseason but where do you think the colts stack up now with having signed Philip rivers and still having some dry powder to go makes more moves well I think I think they've got themselves back in the mix for you could see the content of the division with the the two teams just went up again but expect the Jaguars to the anywhere near anything but that there there's been some interesting removal the Tennessee to throw Casey getting traded away felt pretty strange a and then refused it obviously you you wonder I Y. soon they're going for the traffic can you really count on getting a player like Hopkins now do that no you can't not with the fortieth overall pick that they got for him now in in the draft joint action colts insider for the Indianapolis star you can give me a follow on Twitter at Joel A. Erickson chill really appreciate the time man and talk to you down the road hopefully when when football season gets here yes I'm good I take care jewelers and joining me on the program a five five two one two for CBS we got a bunch on hold when we drop a phone call here between now here in the top of the hour they don't get T. here then we'll take some phone calls certainly after the top of the hour in order the longest wait let's go to Virginia in talk to desire desire your up on CBS sports radio top let's go to main man the beautiful state of Maine and go to Nolan knowing your up on CBS sports radio Hey Matt thank you for taking my call are you doing grabs on to get married I appreciate that man thank you have three weeks of maybe three weeks so far Preciado that's also will will have different kind of question is the XFL I know you have the Houston Rockets that's down there do you see any players from the actual value watched any of it that you see any of them going to the NFL at all actually my only question thank you yeah preceded Nolan thanks yes of course some of them are gonna get signed in the camps you're right I watched a few rough neck games down here they were the only undefeated team in the XFL which if there were no social distancing I would campaign to have a parade for that quite honestly but tongue in cheek of blip yeah I know there will be guys for sure and I think tomorrow is the day I think the XFL has has which is run by Oliver luck whose interlocks dad I think the XFL is sad vet players are gonna be free to sign with NFL teams come tomorrow I believe I think it's this week that they're gonna be free to sign with NFL teams I know PJ Walker who was the quarterback for the Roughnecks I was getting some interest from a few teams Arizona Seattle I think I saw yeah there there will absolutely be XFL guys to get a sniffing camera how many of them make rosters how many of them make an impact very few because there's a reason these guys are all playing in the XFL but I yeah the XFL as it turns out that wound up being one of being a pretty good deal for those XFL guys when you think about it because I got paid for the whole season they paid the XFL players their entire ten games salaries so a lot of these guys you know while it may have helped them to play a few more games to something on a but you know on a on a normal football playing field on a Saturday or Sunday the fact of the matter is just from a purely practical standpoint these guys all got paid ten games worth the salary to play five games and now they're going to be free to sign with NFL teams it actually didn't work out horribly for the XFL players in the XFL is said that they plan on being back in twenty twenty one we'll see I believe Oliver luck because I've covered Oliver luck in many many different roles that he's had throughout sports and he's always been a guy who who is very smart very truthful I think that's the reason Vince McMahon made him the face of this version of the XFL we got him on the show before he's very very good work for the NCAA was an athletic director at West West Virginia was the president of the team in the MLS NFL Europe the the Houston sports authority they built all the stadiums down here he was part of that the guys is very very sharp so when he says we're gonna be back in twenty twenty one I tend to believe them I like the product you know it's clearly not the NFL but I thought some of the rules they had were pretty cool I it would not shock me if the NFL at some point adopted V. XFL kickoff rule that would not surprise me it looks funny it looks weird but it's kind of exciting.

"Like you has his baby Mamas all right now sometimes it is from there I think the relationship just went bad and we got a trade of the Andre Hopkins from from Houston for basically like I said earlier I have said it was all because of that relationship Michael Irvin earlier on get up on a year's pay and that's a story from Irvine de Andre Hopkins then taking to social media Wednesday afternoon saying quote this is being blown way out of proportion as I've said before I enjoyed it and am proud of my time with the Texas I have the utmost respect for coach o'brien and that will not change now I'm ready to play for the cardinals ESPN insider Dan Graziano says the money thing do you have any information any insight into why the Andre Hopkins trade away in the return was so little for bill o'brien yeah I mean look we had I think we heard for awhile he might not be happy there and also maybe more importantly not happy contract you got three years left on his contract about twelve thirteen million here and you know he's looking at guys signing for eighteen nineteen twenty and thank you well actually I'm just as good as the stars and and and and so he was looking for a new contract no one can contact three years last so should now because they sell it he wasn't going to play with them if they didn't give him some some calling the contracting office hours on it seems like they will but you know at that point Jim bad relationship and I don't know the details that Michael is talking about I got this morning I know nothing about the first time anybody Hopkins this call on twenty nine set things being overblown so I don't want to really get into that but I think the relationship between happens with all crimes running all football operational now it's not a good place and while I don't know everything that is the reason for that but a big part of it is that he was unhappy with his contract what do you know about how long the Andre Hopkins was in on the market at there's been rumors that Texas might try to trade deandre Hopkins for quite some time this didn't just come up right had they been shopping him or made him available for a while now there is a little bit quiet talk around the trade deadline last year in October that maybe like you could talk them out of it it's it's those the right kind of return but he was an example right member when Stefon Diggs was kind of scale which interfered in Minnesota there was some talk with a move on from him it was like well maybe a change of scenery trade with both those guys now right Sir so that kind of thing they work by trying to dump him which like they just did it was more about I want to move out we got the right kind of thing so I don't think anything really planning on at that time but yeah I mean he's a superstar player the people justifiably shocked him traded specially Bryn Mawr and return phone yeah I mean I I'd like to do is I'm happy there and then you wouldn't want that and they were gonna justice contracted through the years left on most teams don't like to do that but and that's what that's how it ended up yeah Hopkins camp had told the Texans weeks before the trade the Hopkins wanted a new deal paying somewhere between eighteen and twenty million per year the team was told it would not show if you didn't get a deal so the Texans move forward with the trade are diners sini says as for the remarks of Michael are made about Hopkins the baby Mamas comments I received says that was not an issue in the trade it's always been next man up in New England who's the next man that's next for general knighted DSP in radio.

"Had not happened we always the Andre Hopkins were still Houston Texan however is one of the greatest Houston Texans of all time and perhaps the greatest receiver in the history of the franchise we thought it would be appropriate tonight to celebrate V. not only the career of the Andre Hopkins his contributions to Houston what he's meant to this city what he's meant to this franchise as he is on his way to Arizona to play for the cardinals we welcome you in it's two hour gig tonight I am here for the first hour of the program from seven to eight o'clock and I'm pleased to be alongside my co host who I do radio with every morning here in pain Pendergast former original Houston Texan I should say Seth Payne hello Seth Hey buddy how are you are you all set for deandre Hopkins teammate injure I'm way older than the under way older wish you were yeah it is downright Hopkins and of course former NFL quarterback Arkansas razorback pride joy Baytown in your host in the afternoons here on sports radio six and dirty red clinched on hello client what is going home this is going on it's fun it's fun to get together and chop it up about a player who I think you we all have great memories of and it's been tough the last couple days I think watching a lot of the highlight packages seven I doing some radio I think in in Phoenix talking to people who are gonna get the Andre Hopkins but that's where it really hit home for me guys today earlier as I'm talking to two hits on different stations in Phoenix and normally in a situation like this where a player gets traded away people are looking to get your perspective on a player you just kind of give your perspective what you saw on the field with the guy how you think the guy fits in with their team or whatever I couldn't stop myself from gushing about the Andre Hopkins to these guys right that's the first thing that I caught myself that's a caught myself it was it wasn't like it was a bad thing I was doing but I didn't I didn't realize how nostalgic I was gonna get for deandre Hopkins I was so upset about the manner in which he's leaving and all that other stuff that I kinda it catches me by surprise this first one I talked in Arizona because it felt like I was giving away my daughter in marriage or something you know well I gave you guys better take care of him yeah it's special because he is in I think the emotional attachment people have to be Andre is partly partly because of just the great things he did on the football field but also the way in which she did it these these moments in games where it just didn't seem even possible that he could have come up with the catch and then lo and behold he did and it just brought up it brought a whole different element to watching a football game that frankly I'd ever been a part of like I've never I've never witnessed a guy like that in person in person we came in week out that was really really cool I love you that that as a former quarterback obviously that the way in which you appreciate it guys game because I I didn't watch he was closely you guys have for so long but but it didn't take long for me to watch two or three practices in and have a an unbelievable amount of appreciation for the way he played the game and what he meant to the team in and even digging deeper guys when you when you go into all the film studies and everything in you and you really realize the impact the guy like this has on on literally every snap of every game it it just it's tough to to watch him leave but but we're not here to do more we're here to celebrate yeah we're here to celebrate the career the Texans career of the Andre Hopkins by the way I want to mention we're gonna be giving some Hopkins gear autographed year away throughout the show the the first hour the Clint Seth and I are are part of here we'll be giving away an autograph the Andre Hopkins football at the end of this segment and then in the final segment towards the end of our our we'll be giving away an autographed helmet from the Andre Hopkins so be listening offers these are yeah follow back here at the Andre Hopkins it helmet you know one thing Clinton but you said that was watching him in practice when you first got here you know how many times you watch a rookie in practice you're like okay well that's impressive a let's see what happens when the regular season receivers especially all the time that was the first guy I ever watch is a rookie wide receiver including including Andre Johnson I think because Andre was a different type of special heat injure we didn't have the offense yet when Andre was playing and your teammates on right so Andres impressive as he was as a professional as a rookie there was something about the Andre were he just brought the highlight reel immediately and to see it in action in his rookie year you realize like okay it is gonna be routine things gonna he's gonna come down with the circus catches if he he's he's very very comfortable doing things the hard way yeah yeah I mean is that like just the ever talk about him sept creating separation or or or be able to run away from guys it's like he's he's just interested in creating separation he's disinterested in running by guys because he's so comfortable with the contact which in turn usually is some kind of catch to you and I and everybody out there watching it looks like it's just some kind of circus catch into reality it's where he's comfortable with and it's where he's at its best so he definitely had that the U. T. has a unique skill set of making things that you and I and and and everybody out there C. as being very difficult his skill set allows him to to pull it off as as just a common everyday kitchen so I think when I think of de Andre Hopkins I think one of the other than than the just the the things we see on the highlight film is the fact that so many guys were throwing him the football in all those highlights that we saw I don't know that I've ever seen a receiver I have reporter chemistry be able to put ups so many numbers with so many different quarterbacks when you broadcast while it was going to be as bad as he was if he was the only one the only guy yeah I know all these quarterbacks you're about to read that couldn't make it work with the Andrea how the only guy who could shut down the Andre Hopkins and you know the lessons quarterback but the the names going back to his rookie year match job case Keenum Ryan Fitzpatrick Ryan Mallett Tom savage T. J. Yates Brandon Weeden Brian Hoyer Brock costs Weiler I think I need to shine yet before he even got to do Sean Connery Hopkins had put up to thousand yard season like a twelve hundred yards season his second year in the league Andre Johnson's last year in the league and then in twenty fifteen where it was horror and mallet Whedon Yates at the end of the year he put a fifteen hundred yards he was a second team all pro once the Shawn Watson got here that's when he started making first team all pro every year he's been first team all pro the last three years he was a second team all pro in twenty fifteen Clint as a former quarterback when you see a receiver like this who has such tremendous rapport with all of these guys a lot of them journeymen how unique is that it's it's very unique because it's it's one word is a home it's what you just it's the it factor I mean ultimately it's it's the it factor in and get it gaining trust in guys is fairly easy for a guy as talented as de Andre and and with with this the skill set that we set up and I just went back and forth about of when he's not open he's really wide open and if if you throw the ball in his direction he may be covered but if it's one on one he's going to come down with the ball so for a quarterback it little quarterback with some guts or play caller with that allows the quarterback some freedom anytime you get one all one you should go to the Andre Hopkins period could if is if the corner softball to build a quick screen throw that though the fire screen if he's pressed then then throw the back shoulder or throw the fade John and so it's very easy as as a quarterback to fall in love with with a guy like this when you talk about him explode on the scene with the shell watching though is some quarterbacks are comfortable very comfortable in throwing to that covered receiver I was never very good at it like that they I was always I wanted to see separation I needed to see a guy open ready to seize off corner of the Andre Hopkins I mean a a distraught watching together you knew in college that's how Clinton plays ball the back shoulder is a big throw for them and so they were a perfect fit together and that is probably why you saw the Andre Hobbs and explode the way that he did over the last three years yet that was his funny Andre Johnson tells a funny story about the Andre in his rookie year were gentry would be in the room and and just every day was Haley I don't get it one of the just throw the ball up the young he got a little bit more thank you Leslie design has thrown one brought up yeah it because when you got the skills that a D. Andre it's like that that's what rock that's why I never worked with Brock Brock was one guy that just didn't understand how good the other it was like that because you'd watch it got de Andre would turn and wait for the balling though you got a trusted the Andre is going to know exactly what to do it just throw it up because he's that good yeah words celebrating the career the Texans career of de Andre Hopkins who of course on his way to Arizona great seven seasons here in Houston as I mentioned three first team all pros a second team all pro he's a guy who when you start to look at things stacking up and this is one of the things that seven I talked earlier today Clinton's gonna **** me out a little bit the Andre Hopkins is gonna start to put himself in the in some pretty generational type of conversations we keep doing the things he's doing over the next four five years in the chance that we won't get to experience that with him doing that in a Texans uniform is is is kind of a bummer but you looking back at what he's done because we're here to celebrate this I think he's an all decade wide receiver for the twenty tens which is saying something considering came in about the middle of the day he didn't start to become the Andre Hopkins till the middle of the decade right twenty thirteen was rookie year at about eight hundred yards but I you know not to get too much of a deep dive on receivers of the twenty tends I'm just trying to illustrate how great the guy was I think it's in some mortar Calvin Johnson Antonio brown Julio Jones in the Andre Hopkins yeah I I think it's hard to name a receiver who crack it because four make it to the all decade team it's hard to name one the cracks those four I think man I I I tell you it's not showing you have had this conversation before it and I think in order in order to make a decision in who who deserve who's more deserving of those four it's a tough conversation to have but I think when you take into consideration the list you read off before that the quarterback it's a quarterback right read off before that I think that that immediately pushes a de Andre Hopkins at least in the top two and and so because some of those guys you Matt Ryan's above eight hundred million dollar quarterback played almost every game well don't you look at A. B. A. B. no doubts a great talent but that running game in Pittsburgh and been Roethlisberger they were winning super bowls before before he ever got Safford with Megatron yeah and so I mean you you talk about what what happened you had to overcome to be.

"New normal if you weren't with us Monday we are doing our part here as citizens of this country to try and slow down any chance of the spread of the corona virus so we are doing social distancing again Mike junior and I are in one room separated by appropriate lengths and the rest of the staff is separated in doing their things from other places and we're all working together remotely and this is the way it's going to be I I would but the one thing I've noticed about this there's a lot of chords yeah lot of chords everywhere other producers are in their homes and we have a couple people at the studio so people are everywhere there are chords everywhere and also will be on ESPN ESPN two this one you will not see yes but you'll just hear us you'll just see our logo but you're still here they were trying to hypnotize you away exactly really what we're doing it's fine control if you watch the circle on the TV tower we are coming for you don't stare too long at all by the way I know we're not going out and celebrating it but still happy St Patrick's it everybody yeah we're not going out sober yes let's not go out and so we can go as far as like I have my shirt on with my plugs in their in their St Patrick's day gears see this would've been a great opportunity for you to say I painted my body green because we're not on camera and no one would know I had a comfortable because we're in the same room with the **** photos to yeah that is true is right up against a wall behind your trainer basically sitting on the spot really are you a writer I can't go on yeah this is it I did not need that if you're sitting right where my wife pulled out a rolling a paint roller and oiled me up look man down dealing with enough right now I do not need that information for me she had to spend a lot never mind I just I I did not need information on so many levels but the information we needed yesterday we god I mean the NFL began the legal negotiating period and it clearly told you that there was a lot of illegal because so many vehicles got mazing how quickly that you believe they pulled that off in seven seconds so they got all those deals you almost think they somehow talked before actually one of the deals look like it did take seven seconds and we'll get to that in a minute because my god first of all it was a really good day to be a wide receiver in the NFL but with this divine Diggs moving on Mari Cooper getting the big deal and then of course the Houston Texans proving once again that having a general manager it is important for those that did not hear it the Andre Hopkins is no longer a Houston Texan he is going to the Arizona Cardinals and the cardinals didn't even have to give up a first round pick for arguably the best receiver in football did the cardinals legitimately get to salary dump a running back on to the Texans in two thousand twenty the year of our lord this is allowed to happen so you said Johns Hopkins in the fourth for David Johnson a twenty twenty second and twenty twenty one fourth X. it's not even just because we keep saying this yeah the Texans lacking a GM like this lacks the common sense but almost any of us have which is de Andre Hopkins is arguably your one B. best asset behind deshaun Watson just because a position but it ain't that wide of a margin and that's what you got in return what when I saw that I was absolutely floored I have no idea what Houston is doing you know no gender happens has three years left on his deal and teen friendly number fourteen fifteen and I think thirteen in that area but there were there were rumors and rumblings that he wanted a new new deal again you had three years left on his deal unfortunate for him and Mike you explain this the new CBA that was just ratified that really helps out the middle to lower players doesn't so much help out the holdouts anymore so he could have held out and wanted to but he would have without question if you kept holding out maybe do a deal be losing money and maybe more than that yeah they're they're now what used to be the fines that would come with a player that would hold out while they were still under contract usually a lot of times teams would waive those in good faith that they're negotiating a deal working on that stuff those fines could no longer be where if you're going to pay the brunt of those and they are steep and there's even a way that it eats into the idea of a credited season for you and all this I believe that part I want to go back and check again but they have made the penalty severe and basically kneecap guys were looking to hold out under contract may not have war be worrying about that at all if you was really going to try and get a new deal point still I mean three years left in it do you trade away in the team picture of the top two or three best receivers in the league Kyler Murray I try to do yes they had to be doing called wheels for what was coming his way so again let's let's just make sure everybody understands what happens as you said they gave away the thing that everybody wants in the NFL everybody's a game breaking wide receiver who can't renegotiate his deal and is on a very team friendly chat okay he was in the hands he wanted to just say I'm sitting you would obviously lose all that money he got to go a levy on bell Jackie right and I don't think he's going to do right okay so now you give up a game breaking wide receiver you don't get a first round pick you get a running back who has a big contract who has been injured the last two years bill Barnwell sum this up best with his tweet he said if I was Steve Kerr I'm the general manager of the Arizona Cardinals and I got this phone call from bill o'brien I would hope not because I thought it was a prank what way I'm getting pump where the damage again David Johnson is making his cap is over ten million dollars this year for a running for the second best running back on the cardinals from last year can you drag the do they trade the cardinals French okay transition transition yeah so David Johnson it's ten million hits and eight million hit next year I I don't I don't get this and know for stronger and remember they traded you Dave I'm clay only last year and didn't get a first rounder and they traded for a tackle in the meantime let me talk to and gave up two first rounders and haven't signed him it's like you do it's like a PSA for having a general all unbelievable the things that they're doing and I think they seem very comfortable with it and that's fine I'm not sure there's another team of the other thirty one in the NFL that would have done any of the things that the Texans have done what we have to sound I want to play here because it was Rick basically pointed out what's at the heart of this is deeply personal what is about a twenty seven year wide receiver that you send down the road and he had over fifty more receptions than your second leading receiver here taking a huge gamble the only thing you can count on is this one this was personal between bill o'brien in him and I think that's there's no secret that there was a report there into bill is betting on the fact that this is one of the deepest wide receiver classes that we see in the past twenty years and he's going to say Hey you know what everybody's been talking about all these good wide receivers out there and all these other people are paying a huge price is like buffalo just after Stefon Diggs I'm not going to do that because I'm going to build the fact that I can find one in the vault one and Hey guess what the GM and the coach do what I want most other teams have done it no simple to what he's the GM is the grand Pooh bah of them those are master of time space and dimension and use well and and that contracted bait that deal that was mentioned by the way for Stefon Diggs it happened last night is the perfect foil to show you what it looks like because we all have all talked about it this is an extremely wide receiver rich draft growth the idea in in some random theory the idea of if you were a team with a veteran wide receiver you don't want to pay the idea of moving on from them maximizing that asset in drafting young is not all that far fetched right makes sense in your head but when you look up in your Houston obviously the way you do this is farcical because Minnesota what a wide receiver who would openly made clear at multiple points did not want to be there any more got from buffalo a first round pick this year a fifth and a sixth round pick this year and a fourth round pick next year first of bondage while he's been sensational the last couple years he's got the full step below G. Andre hockey was wide receiver on the bike I have a feeling was listen and and all honesty about bill o'brien's come on the show we got along with him extremely well and we will we will absolutely be trying to get him on the show yes and say what you know what gives ME because I haven't heard one person say oh yeah I get it by doing this deal again that there are people comparing this are saying is just like treating Khalil Mack away remember the raiders pretty cool metal in Chicago gave him the biggest deal on the defensive side of the ball yeah and and and and they're compatible and how great they are at their position the other happened just three years left on his deal three years left on his deal and you got no first rounder back form right some people are saying this is the most lopsided trade in NFL history it might be the dumbest trade and industry but it's not the most nights again they get up they get a second round pick a twenty twenty one fourth round pick and a running back who has a ten million dollar cap hit here's why it's not the most lopsided trade in NFL history and this is where kids we need to go back before two thousand and for some people that might as well be nineteen forty two but here's the deal in the late eighties the Dallas Cowboys since Herschel Walker a running back a third of fifth attempt a tenth round pick back in the day yes I don't know that well and a third round pick to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange they got one two three four five players three first.
Bills to land WR Diggs in trade with Vikings
"The bills first I see first reported I think from Jay Glazer from NFL I'd fax the bills the Buffalo Bills required wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a trade with the Vikings and you said Adam Schefter has more information as a shifter put out what the other parts the deal A. R. the bills are sending a first round pick a fifth round pick a sixth round pick and twenty twenty one fourth round pick for digs and a twenty twenty seventh round pick she thinks the Texans feel right now yeah that's a ton that's W. said I mean that's the whole that's the whole you're given up for de Andre Hopkins or at least what should have been writing up for de Andre Hopkins yeah he is no where Stefon Diggs being is nowhere near the caliber of receiver that the Andre Hopkins is now no he's not and that's amazing what a great move for the bills huh great move for the bills the Vikings get more and so so now the Vikings become well you you would think better he didn't want to play for the river last year with the injuries they had a tight end out wide receiver that also him not getting the ball and prodding and being upset that he didn't get the ball and now do you see the contract getting paid to Kirk cousins it

Klay not anybody runner should be surprised by that but I feel it talking about quarterbacks quarterbacks Patrick my homes it's a ninety seven overall rating so now you start looking over this list Lou giggly makes the overall list he's the only panther the makes the the the top five or top ten of the overall list but if you look at QB ratings after my homes as a ninety seven rating then he's followed by Tom Brady with a ninety six Philip rivers drew Brees Andrew luck Russell Wilson Aaron Rogers Matt Ryan Ben Roethlisberger and then cam Newton so it can with an eighty four overall rating okay which so that's it's okay with you boats that is sound like from the number you want to reach the top ten yeah lebron quarterbacks yes just about a thirty two yeah yeah and so again you heard the names that are ahead of him and I can you know we get a list of who's behind him but he's he's always right about in the middle of that topic that Matt Ryan's in front of them yeah Matt right Mets five ahead of eighty nine to an eighty four Roethlisberger who I think that's you know it all Roethlisberger's one of those guys that it depends on who you talk to because you're gonna get one argument that it well he's over the hill is on the downward trajectory of his career he's lost to his main weapons in Pittsburgh but yet the guy wins when crunch time comes let's see we were running back ratings Christian McCaffrey on see one two three four five think he's tied for fourth here he's tied with sick one Barkley with a ninety one rating the the top running back is that Todd Gurley with a ninety seven and then Ezekiel Elliott ninety four who in other news is demanding a contract even though he has two years left that's another angrily wasn't healthy last year so yeah who knows what he'll be like this year and again Christian McCaffrey is right around the in the in the upper tier of NFL quarterbacks he's right in the middle of this one no panther receive no panther receiver appears on the receiver list not necessarily a surprise surprise and Greg Olsen is as a Travis Kelsey is number one among tight ends at ninety six Zach urge is ninety three and a Lani Walker ninety two Greg Kittle ninety and then Greg Olson is an eighty nine so good right there in the middle no other players other than looking clean and of the he's exactly the only one that's in any of the defense of rankings giggly among a middle linebackers is second only to a Bobby Wagner ninety nine to ninety eight so Madden the Madden game has always given a lot of love to live peacefully for obvious reasons but that's how the panther shake out in this so what does that say it says we're in July so it's time for real full this is like a lower than talking fantasy football we're talking video game player bank rankings the Madden twenty rankings in the of the Madden game which after all these years is still pretty relevant I mean it's still not over if I feel like a big deal even know Mario karts no it's it's a big deal and then you know how many kids that you could how many millennials are kids millennials could you interview right now that we know who John madness that's the real question don't wanna hear us old timers talk rankings I remember hello you fellow kids how are you today as okay I remember the day when John Madden used to be on CBS yeah yeah there's there's a history before that what they might have coached a Super Bowl champions you have ask your you have to ask your parents about that one have you by the way have you done the face that thing yeah I've not of you is anybody in this room down the face that plan terrestrial wacky morning DJ people well Theresa Peyton scared us all the way from the last lesson she do it no in a word see all she's scared you away from doing it brought back a photo that she created with it now now she's she's not fat white with that email once you make a good point a you know then people like her are always worried about you giving your image up to someone else to a third party you know not only in it is a she says that not only are you giving up what you look like now you're giving up what you will look like and see that's the thing that's why this thing is so popular receive if you look at it the pictures are very real very realistic I mean it's not like some just cheap Photoshop thing it's it's very real looking anyway six the.
Should the Saints re-sign Michael Thomas?
"So we told you yesterday couple of days ago that michael thomas it was reported is now seeking twenty two million dollars from the saints twenty two million dollars a year that would shatter the previous high for receiver in the n._f._l. set by oto beckham junior last year who's making eighteen and a half million dollars sixty million dollars guaranteed now i've said it many times before and i maintain that michael thomas deserves from his perspective from michael thomas perspective and those around him he deserves to be the highest paid receiver in the game when he sees guys like odell beckham junior getting paid that much julio jones right behind him what michael thomas has been out producing them on the field the last few seasons and frankly it's not even close another is this debate about who the best receiver in the game is well if you just look at the numbers the best receiver in the games michael thomas maybe andre hopkins so too and i don't really think you can argue otherwise talent wise michael thomas is there and i guess the projected you had the n._f._l. network best wide receiver poll that they pitched to the fans last week and michael thomas didn't even make the top four that there's a little a little bizarre so the fan perspective on the reality what michael thomas is on the field don't match now they do here new orleans i don't think they match nationally so i wanted to get that out of the way i because when i get into this conversation and i think a lot of you are going to disagree with me on this i don't want to be confused that i think michael thomas doesn't deserve the money that he wants i do think that he should try to get as much money as he can extract a new contract considering how well he's played on the field i mean that's just the reality of this however from a saints perspective from a business perspective i gotta tell you i don't think it's a shrewd business decision for the saints to put ten eleven twelve percent of their salary cap into one wide receiver it just has never worked before in the n._f._l. and in fact when teams have done that before we've seen things come crashing down pretty darn quickly It's just as happened. no highest paid receiver in league history since the salary cap bear is everyone a super bowl only one only one ever has even made the super bowl that was julio jones a couple of years ago it's not like there's this long track record while you just pay these guys what you want and then you're going to have big time success on the field this position is highly dependent on everybody around them in the offense again i'm not diminishing what michael thomas is done and i don't think michael thomas production is just a product of drew brees for his fantastic as he is we've never seen wide receiver this productive in new orleans michael thomas's men and drew brees has had some really good receivers but if you're any organization whether that's an n._f._l. team whether that's a radio station whether that's a salesforce whether that's a fast food restaurant whether that's restaurant down here in the quarter a club Throwing those kind of resources. at one person who is highly highly dependent on everybody around him to be good doesn't really make a lot of sense i'm just telling you it doesn't make a lot of sense now from safes perspective again this is also a lose lose why use the term yesterday I don't really see a win coming out of this for them. because if they don't recycle thomas again t. what's going to happen we're gonna have these call screens all it up we'll have eight collars for for two weeks on this program saying what a terrible decision by the saints how can they let this guy get away this is the best receiver in franchise history a guy that's beloved by the fans a guy who seems like he really loves the city in new orleans But I know Mickey Loomis knows this. i know sean payton knows this that the history of paying wide receivers that kind of money it just hasn't worked it just hasn't worked maybe michael thomas and the saints will be the first one to disprove this notion perhaps that'll happen but i gotta think it won't especially when you consider drew brees is on his way off into the sunset will that's this year next year couple years down the road you could have a twenty million dollar receiver catching passes from quarterback who hasn't started a game a meaningful game in the n._f._l. either ever or in multiple years ever in the case of tastes and hill multiple years if it's teddy bridgewater i like teddy bridgewater i've said that before but he's not drew brees you think michael thomas is going to get one hundred passes a year From teddy Bridgewater. Day one seamless transition. I don't think so. the writing's on the wall here i'm not debating what the saints are going to do the saints from all indications sean payton said in that press conference What Mickey Loomis is said, on Sirius XM radio last week. this deal's going to get done it just a matter of is it twenty million dollars to twenty one is nineteen how much guaranteed money what's the link that's what's being debated right now the steals gonna get done but for the saints to continue success after this drew brees area which is quickly approaching its end they've got to have extremely extremely shrewd salary cap management which in the last three years they have been remember all the the trouble salary cap trouble the big odd in Four or five years ago. there's a lot of it they led the league in dead money because they had to cut these guys thanks for four straight years you don't want to go back to those days you don't want to go back to those days in fact they've never really paid a receiver that kind of money whether it was marcus colston or brandin cooks they traded him before he was up for a contractor whoever it was in the sean payton mickey lima sarah i hope they don't regret this decision and i understand why it looks like they're going to do it like i said it's a lose lose for them but in my mind i'm telling you if i was running any n._f._l. franchise and this is just the the brutal reality of this industry i don't care if it's the saints the patriots the falcons the cowboys whoever it is across the league if i'm running any n._f._l. franchise i'm not paying a receiver that much this position and it's unfortunate it's unfortunate for the guys who play the position just like it was unfortunate for the guys who played the running back position for so long the running back position has become so devalued it's a surprise when running backs or even drafted in the first round anymore specially in the top after the first round and it's shocking if a running back gets anywhere over ten million dollars a year i mean people still think this levian contract and i'm one of them it's a huge mistake what they're paying levian bells especially since he sat out a year we'll see what happens

"So you know, you have the Andre Hopkins, and you don't have a whole lot else going on that offense of you. Texans are still moving the ball a little bit without Thomas of. I mean, how how how are they doing this? Because they've literally I it's dish on Watson is going to run around and make some someplace late in the late late in the down. Or he's going to throw it to yonder Hopkins. I don't know what other options they really have. It's a pretty. Strean run game. Yeah. Is the colts defense. Now, it's not set up to double Hopkins naturally. The colts have their scheme. They play what they play if they do want to double hopkinsville, go to MandA man and probably play man robbers. So they'll have a to safety start out in the middle of the field. And then one of them will drop down into the shallow middle of the field, and he'll probably drop down to near wherever Hopkins is a line. But I that's still not a whole lot within Indies. Repertoire, it's a pretty zone base defense even when they've blitzed which has been more in the second half of the season. The first first-half they've often played at least zone structures behind the blitz. I think this comes down Gary you're right to the Texans. Do not have a lot of weapons and you've got to make the Shawn Watson feel that you've got to make him play uncomfortably. I want him running around if I'm the colts. I now we need to be prepared and disciplined for that. I'm going to be holding my breath while he does it. But. You wanna get Watson playing off schedule because the whole Texans offense does not operate super smoothly. When he does. And that was the biggest difference in that game last time. When when the colts beat him is Watson was unsettled in the puck it and he broke himself down and played off schedule by choice. Too often got hot for a little bit there late. But he was really the reason Houston lost the game. Quite frankly, you gotta get Watson playing that way. Of the side of the ball here with the colts beat them in Houston. They threw it all over the place. And look that's how that's how teams have been attacking this Texas defense all year. They're just not very good at the cornerback spots on the back end. Is there any reason to think that the the colts can't just do this all over again? JJ watt would be a reason in Judean cloudy would be a reason. But that's they were factors last time as well in Indianapolis has offensive line's gotten better. We know that the it was interesting because a coach tried to smash mouth this thing in the last match up. They went three how many teams have won games where they've gone three and out on their first four series, which is what Indianapolis did in that lasts Houston game. And then on the fifth series that came out, and they threw deep to the y Hilton is a sixty yard or I think it came out of a run personnel. Heavy look again. And after that they spread out through the ball and found their rhythm and won the game. So the colts can there really an amoeba offense more you look at them. They can do a lot of different things they've been playing with Joe Hagan six offense of Lyman at times trying to have a smash mouth foundational ground game member. Frank Reich was there in Philly last year where we complemented the eagles for how expansive their running game was and now without right there. They for whatever reason, maybe that's the reason. They've been less expansive in their run game in Philadelphia. Well, the colts are starting to take on some of that eagle look and they've got the linemen to do it. So I don't know if I would say it's all past game and just gouge Texans and make their DB's half to survive. Maybe that's a plan. But it's I wouldn't be surprised that the culture a little more balanced in this game. Will they I mean, they kept throwing even with the lead that lesson that they meant. I right you I do remember that game. They had it. It was Eric E Ibran had a terrible third-down drop at the beginning. I think the first ride, and they had another really bad dropped by think MO alley Cox..
Watson leads Texans to 29-22 comeback win over Darnold, Jets
"Minutes to go on and Elisha McGuire. Touchdown run the Texans hoping later to culture playoff spot, though, at comeback in mind does Shawn Watson with a fourteen yard touchdown pass to Andre Hopkins with two fifteen left that put them in front for good. Those two hooked up twice. Kaya me. Fair being kicked five field goals. Houston winning at twenty nine to twenty two Sam darnold with two TD passes for the jets. He threw for two hundred fifty three yards offensive line played really. Well, we handle JJ in today on really well. Again. Our receivers got open game jets are now four in ten giants. I mean, we talked about Davis, you know, hopefully this is a sign of things to come for him and for Mario Cup is just part of a trio receivers that got this gave starting all three them with the Rams guys. And obviously, you know, the entre Hopkins is a star. He's had some some down moments going into the week, I think is interesting, and some cases they continued. But the number two guy has been better than the number one guy. Atlanta yet. Lanna Cincinnati, the chargers, the Steelers. Oh, that's what you're talking about. I'm sorry. I thought you were talking about a specific team. No, the the number two receivers have been better than the number one guy, but this shows you that Hopkins can still be a star even with. I'd rather have cook over both of them. Is that a bye on cook where a cell in on. No, I'm not. I don't think people should be getting away from Kittle Warburton just because titans. Awful. I don't know who like unless we find j Howard's injuries really significant. Cameron breaks the only tied in and tip then then maybe he's the guy you'd be picking up. I don't think there's somebody dropping those guys for to pick up. Here's here's the early list of waivers that have Greg Olsen sixty two percent owned if he's available trying stash him because it becomes back and he's right there still top ten potential there. I is eleven percent on. He wasn't expected to play in tonight's game, but he could be back and we five heath can tell you certainly how much the upside is there for him and. The lesser guys. I thought it was interesting. The usage for Jeff Wayne today..

"Of those teams for the chargers Keenan Allen for the Houston Texans, Andre Hopkins and for the Atlanta, Falcons TULIO Jones. So definitely just I would just keep an ear open for that, but who might will prediction who's gonna have a day that maybe the best day ever. Anyone is going to be Calvin Ridley once again, he had three touchdowns last week. I think they're gonna keep them to win against the Cincinnati Bengals and as he really with another great day in another great offense of showing for the Atlanta Falcons, he came out first round draft, pick to the Atlanta Falcons. He was right pilot Julio Jones, great quarterback, Matt Ryan, thrown him the ball, and he has shown that with his three touchdown matchup three touchdown showing last week. And I think he continues with another three touchdown game. You heard me right back to back three touchdown games for this gaming in Cincinnati. That's my bowl bowl prediction. This woman bullets prediction for this week is another three touchdown game for Calvin Ridley. As defense isn't in titans. Another gronkowski's so questionable. I feel like he's questionable every single year. Every single game that is, excuse me. But I say kettle, George Kittle will beginning a lot of action because he's out of Iowa in CJ. Beathard is at Iowa. They both came out of Iowa together. They broke on the same team, so I think it will. I think, tightens who's gonna have the best game is towards Kittle. So watch out for that because that chemistry between Beth hurt and kettle is still strong. I still believe is still strong. I mean, both come out at same college. Go to the same team. You're good. He's gonna be your go-to receiver even always tight end. And as for defense, I, this is a toss up, but I do see the Jaguars having a another Saxon Ville or turnover type game against the jets. I think I don't know if that's an obvious pick or not, but I definitely see the Jaguars as the best defense going into this week four matchups, but we're gonna take another short break. And when we get back, we'll talk about the other things going on. And fantasy football and just whatever comes to mind to be honest, but we'll get on that when we get back to you. "I mean, that's very important, no matter what three receiver league, and I apologize for bungling that explanation. I get thrown off three receiver Leakey's I didn't see much of a difference in the way we drafted. By the way the results are available on the website for this draft already p draft. I didn't seem like receivers, get pushed up that much. You know, they fell. In fact, I had the ten th pick in this draft and I started with the Andre Hopkins and Michael Thomas, and I'm just going to do that every single time and maybe won't work out. Maybe especially in a league like this where I do think it's important to have running backs to win and fantasy football your to starting running backs. When you can start the four. Receivers, and you have the ten defensive players. You or two running backs aren't going to make as big of an impact in this league as they are normally net. But in normal three receiver, Lee heath, I would typically recommend people expecting receivers to go earlier, like you're gonna look at the results of this draft. I don't think it's very typical. I was surprised at the receiver value in this draft. I was I was pleasantly surprised. Yeah, they usually go a little bit earlier Kristie. You prioritize receivers, born three receiver leaks. I'll say maybe. I mean, this is a league of such short-leg. This is this is like twelve sharks. Basically it's when everybody's going in me. Eleven and eleven in you. Yeah, eleven you. And plus we'll maybe that's why you got eight plus swell. Just give them the plus. Like when I see the number of running backs go that they went believe the first nine picks eight of them running backs. I kind of this is NPR league in a league. We're starting three receivers. I kinda go. Yeah, I think the sharp thing here was still the take the elite running backs, but he has a point either comes a point where they're no longer elite, and now you're taking Melvin Gordon and cream hunt who I don't necessarily think are I think their first round picks in most formats and probably here too, but I gotta take an receiver over those two guys too. So maybe it reached a point where find those for six seven picks can be running bags or running backs, Antonio Brown. But yeah, I'm sort of with heath. I'm just sort of surprised. He didn't take Beckham over Hopkins, but that's another story. Oh, go ahead. He Beckham over Hopkins, not for you, what? Yeah, I don't. I don't think I think Chris is the one of these. Explain why surprise Beckham over pretty sure the Hopkins over Beckham is the normal thing. Yeah, just go back to a couple years ago when under Hopkins was the sure thing and I go every time I've seen Odell Beckham play. I'm pretty sure he's been awesome. And every time I've seen down ROY Hopkins, sometimes he's. I mean, I have. I have Hopkins four. I would say I would take Beckham Hopkins every time I was. That was a little bit a moment where I went. Interesting. Yeah, I feel good about Hopkins laws. They don't sign Brock Osweiler backup. Brandon, Brandon, Weeden plays or maybe they could trade for Brian Hoyer. So actually, when you look at the results, right, it's it's early Johnson bell, Zeke. And then I took Antonio Brown with the fifth pick. I was prepared to take Elliott. Yeah, thanks and I didn't. I'm glad I didn't have to take David Johnson and went second. 'cause I still have some concerns about the offense. They lost their center. There off is gonna stink. Where where are you on David Johnson, crystal, ask you that? I, I'm fine with him. I think in the end we don't know. I think you just take the really elite talent and you just assume it sort of it works out. I've seen enough great players on bad teams Shawn McCoy last year, do what great players are supposed to do. And actually, I know that Scott fish who took David Johnson number two, he actually said in the room, I'm passing on him because I owned him into too many other leagues..

"The andre hopkins on nfl high thirteen touchdowns last season seven of them from rookie shawn watson who became the first quarterback to throw for nineteen touchdowns in his first seven games watson season ended early with that devastating tornado yell but as far as watson secondyear aachen's can't help but be excited gives me to sometimes just the thing what we did and the little town we had together you know seeing how mature not just on the field with all to fill you know okay we honestly offer like i said the standard for for myself a him so i think we can be the best in this the the he can be the best quarterback on the best while receiver and that's i'm onset coming to let's talk watson and hopkins chris how how lethal duo can these two be on this texans team can be as good of a quarterback receiver combo as we have in the national football league talking about this shawn watson i know what to small sample size only six starts but you can make an argument for four game stretch he was the most dynamic player in the nfl what he was capable of doing just talk about how he's elevated that offense in their production and terms of being able to score points averaging around thirty five points a game but then when you look at the different aspects of the office then improve window shawn watson is under center their running game is off the charts and that's one of the things that people don't pay enough attention to when you're able to control time possession in football games by being able to run the ball that completely takes pressure off everyone around your football team and takes pressure off the wide receivers that takes pressure off of your offense of line and pass protection most importantly it takes pressure off of you defense so if you have an offense that can score.
