"So Cincinnati city council yesterday what an epic fight the may. You know, it's good when the mayor has to break in and call for civility because at one point during the contentious me this, of course, the first meeting back after the gang of five texting scandal. Judge Robert Roman cracking the whip on five members accounts are saying they should resign and give the money back. That's not what this was about. This is about. I kind of half baked idea here to close, though, the the wage gap. Which to me is noble and worthy cause. And of course, we've had wage stagnation for a long time in this country. But I'm of the opinion. I don't think that's up to a city council of any city to solve that that that's a higher pay grade in my opinion. But that's what they were talking about yesterday. We'll get an, but the the reason why the meeting broke down as at one point. There was a discussion between Amy marine Christina Bach. We've got personal councilman Chris sale Bach told a woman Amy Murray, she's anti woman what the absurdity of that. It's it's almost like Christie back is an expert on all things appropriation. Because he's gay. I didn't if you knew that. But Chris Bach is a gay man. And he thinks that somehow I don't know some sort of big deal, but unfortunately in two thousand nineteen for him. Fortunately for the rest of the world, it's common people generally, accept homosexuality. It's kind of like being an a-hole lots of people are it's not that big a deal, you just tend to you know, if you're I tend to avoid a holes not gay people. If you're an a-hole in. You're gay avoid you. If you're not in a hole in your gay. We could be friends Amy Murray's on the show on seven hundred wwl w I think I laid that out pretty well in my vernacular. What do you think Amy? Really did Scott. You're not. That's why heavy on the show. Thank you know. I civil I try and be nice to everyone who enters you said. I don't care who someone is. They're a nice person. Then that is right. I want to work with you. I really don't wanna be around you council person. Amy Marie on the show on seven hundred w cultural misappropriation is a buzz phrase these days, for example, if you've heard the term some people are I don't know what that basically means this I can't serve Hispanic food. If if I'm not Hispanic opened a restaurant saying, oh to put some Mexican dishes on there put some Spanish pie or something like that. Someone would go. No, you're not Spanish, you don't have that culture. New. Therefore, you're misappropriating the culture to make money. That's a no go isn't this gender misappropriation? Who is a man to tell a woman, the you're anti woman, and the crazy thing is that was a piece of legislation that we're going to get sued over that is bad. I don't think it's going to help move the needle for women at all. I think there's better ways to do it. And so I stayed at all of this. I said, I don't think it's the right way forward work, which is to find other ways. But I think that this is the wrong way. We're going to get sued. It's not going to have the end result. Which is mine. I am entitled to my vote. And so then that has remember Seahawks saying that I'm anti women and other personal attack. Just it's crazy council. You know, you should be able to vote. I'm not I'm and it wasn't an exchange. I just gave my thoughts every council member can by Lenin. Saint what they think why they're voting for why they're not it's not supposed to be where someone could say. Well, I think you're wrong on that. Because it really does help. Because of this reason that would be a fine. Wait, you have discussion back and forth, but you personally attack someone and say, they're anti women. And then he went on, you know, because he had something on the environment. I didn't know force. I'm anti-environmental. And you know, I it's crazy because part of it too. We have a lot of different bills. To come forward. So you vote for some you don't vote for any like, you know, you could vote on an issue on the environment ten times positive, but if you vote no one, you're anti environment. You're anti does. You know? It's just you think after everything we just went through the name calling the nastiness with just stop. Well, as I said often were in the post shame era. Many people say post-truth post news, we're in the post shame era where someone like Chris sale Baku. I think when you look through all the texts them really so far today. The Chris rock comes off. I think the worst in this whole thing. I think there's I think Greg Landsman looks the best I think that sale box the worst in this whole thing is being petty in Vic did a vindictive and name calling and coming off bitchy. I don't know how the west say that. But that's that's the field of me. I mean, you know, the the thing with Chris Walker smithereens wife, dying of cancer, and pointing that out in PG got. And I guess why. Why PG didn't fell got blasted is? Because you know, obviously, he's going to run for mayor of crucial Bach is not. But. Chris came off like the worst guy in that whole thing we saw what happened with Nick Sandman were instantly. He jumped on when the Knicks man video surfaced attack. Nick, San man in cub cath and everything else. And then when the truth was finally came out the next day. There wasn't a hey, you know, what I got it wrong. I apologize. He completely shifted towards Donald Trump isn't he acting like the guy who despises both Donald Trump. Well, you know, people have said around the city that they've done that way before Donald his tweet sensibility. It is a he's been a bully for years and years, and it is interesting because you know, things that Donald Trump might put on Twitter, Chris has done for a long long fine just being nasty and he thinks because he's coming from a platform that he's entitled to do that. And it's like, you know, Borys e you know, people that are bullies think. Well, I'm not a bully because I'm writing this case. So it's okay to be that way. And it's like, no that's still being fully, you know. That's most bullies think that they're in the right? It's at righteous indignation. Donald Trump hasn't Christina Bach has it. And you know, Chris doesn't realize or maybe he does that he's acting that way. But he has his chip on his shoulder because he's gay and I'm not quite sure what they again. That's a diminishing return to me because it used to be a bigger chip back in the day when it was more like for Harvey milk, for example. That that was a brave in and tip of the sword. Kind of thing when he came out and ran as an openly gay council person in San Francisco back in the seventies. Right. That's not as big a deal today. And that's because the people like Harvey milk and other four same. I could say about women and African Americans for that matter to is their forebears who fought for normalization in marginalization. That's what's occurred in America, largely and Kristian back is acting like he is some sort of savior. And he's okay. He's the first openly gay council person Cincinnati's ever had that spend years now. No, nobody cares. No. I it's not an issue. And so it's just a vice of and I wish that it won't happen. And you know, it makes it difficult for council for people to go. I hadn't Ford and whatever platform Chris is standing on its if you're nice and try reason with people then you might get better result. You know, when you just attack anyone that, you know, and all because. You are a Republican or you're a not a progressive democrat. You know, just because of whatever label he puts on you. He assumes that you spouse all of, you know, the MS just going to attack you rather than trying to understand where people come from, you know. No. Council person Amy Murray on the show this morning on seven hundred wwl w and it gets into this too. And I want to get to the details of what this, you know, you being anti woman is a woman means relative to this wage ordinance. We'll get to that in the salary ordinance in just a second here. But it's I guess the disturbing part about this to me is. And I had PG not too long ago when when we're debating over the bump stock ban. I think it's bad law, and he got bring up while Donald Trump just because Donald Trump likes it support. Doesn't mean it's it's sound or good. I don't agree with everything that the president does or any Republican does that's call me. Open minded in thinking for yourself. And I think that's the mindset is like, well, you have to go along with what a particular party is where I believe you to be a Republican, which I tend to vote Republican. But I don't know how conservative I am in that regard. That's kind of what really does I don't vote straight ticket usually I'm more thoughtful than that. But you know, because I'm on a talk station. I get essentially get the pain of that that role which is fine. But I guess my point here is is there's absolutely no wiggle room there. It's like, well, you know, if he'd voted for it, then it must be no it doesn't. It means. You're both wrong in my opinion. It's stupid law that we eventually we did we got sued over. Now. Let's get into this thing that was brought up Amy Murthy behalf to the Cincinnati Women's Fund. I'm not sure what that is tell me about that. And what what the ideas? Here that would make employers not be able to ask in a potential employees how much money they make. Well, so this is a slippery slope because it's a city Hellene private companies private employers in the city of Cincinnati what they can and cannot ask during a hiring interview. And so what they're saying is that if you have more than fifteen employees part time, temporary, whatever in the city of Cincinnati. You are not allowed to ask when you're hiring someone what what they currently make what their current salary is the thinking behind that as far as what they presented to us is that their point is that women make less than men in general. And if you're playing for new job, and they know what you make it's going to be continue to keep you at a lower level of pay. And so you'll never be able to catch up with men when I met with them, and I with everyone, so whether you know who ever is bringing forward and organs motion, whatever I'm always happy to meet I wanna understand I want to be part of the process and so. He had a long talk. And my concern is there wasn't any quantitative data that shows that doing this actually help solve the problem at all. And so here we are telling businesses in the city of Cincinnati what you can and cannot ask. And if not, you know that the repercussions are very strong. And so I don't think that this is the right way this city should be heading at all. And there's no proof that at work now yesterday, they and say, oh, well now, we have a survey that shows that does work, but you know, as of two weeks ago, there wasn't anything. And they said, it's just very new. But I think that there's other things you can do to help the wage gap rather than put restrictions on your businesses and Philadelphia just did this and they have been stupid because it's unconstitutional. I you right. 'cause like the bump stock council keeps passing these feel-good legislations that we don't know if they're even going to fix the issue, and we're going to get sued. And so as you know with the whole text thing, we ended up paying one hundred thousand dollars in fees. We're gonna end up in the same situation. And you know, just to have this feel good legislation that we don't know if it's gonna work employs what really works me Slovenia's worries me as we want employees employers to want to come to Cincinnati and employer should be able to own decisions in these areas. But here if an employer employment agency or employees failed to comply with any of these provisions, then they're liable for compensation, competency satori damages reasonable attorney fees the cost of the action and such legal and equitable relief. Is a court team, Justin. That's never gonna court's gonna strike that down aren't they?.

"Back at it this morning. Seven hundred wwl wwl tired after watching the national championship beat down last night. We'll be talking about that later on in the morning, and we begin with a much much more serious news than college football. Of course. And it has to do with the safety of all of us as pedestrians and motorists in the city Cincinnati at times, we're one or the other right, as you know, on Friday, a cool rain police officer was struck and it turns out that that was a fatal accident. He's out investigating rain-soaked road and call rain. There was an accident there as often happens when whether gets implement and Dale woods gets out of his patrol car. He's a fifteen year veteran and Adele woods is then as he's investigating the crash struck himself and he succumbed to his injuries overnight. It just a heartbreaking story for those who've been following this and in the community to when you lose a police officer in a fashion of being on the job like this, it affects all of us and something is as tragic as this. Of course. Why did you bring you together? I know the the calling police department has received under Mark Danny a lot of encouragement. And of course, kind words, and I'll add mind to that mix in whatever slight way, they may be with the loss of officer del would passing away last night with his family by his side. And you know, it kind of fits into what we're talking about this morning with lawn public safety co-chair Amy Murray, and that is Cincinnati streets, and this is call rain, but I conclude call rain as much as Cincinnati's anything. Of course. And we've learned over the past couple of years at streets of Cincinnati are very very dangerous out of the big three cities in the state coordinated data from twenty seventeen Cincinnati's the most dangerous. We had a case of a young girl getting struck and killed in a crosswalk walking to school near western hills university high school, and we've had several accidents like this involving Carson passages the point where law and public safety has decided to take up the issue Amy Murray. Good morning. Good morning, and I want to also extend my condolences in Coleraine. I'm so fat, and I know the whole communities just devastated with the loss of officer details, and you know, we're talking about pedestrian safety is a police officer. You never know what you're going to have to deal with on a day to day basis. And it's just devastating for our community. All the, you know, public safety officers in the region when you lose someone I am just it's just devastating to watch for Dale and any past I guess quietly last night too. And and fought like a like the where he is for the last few days hanging onto life. But did that make it, but you know, there's a bigger takeaway here too. And here's an officer Amy Marie investigating a crash scene, which means that you have lights on you have a well an area, you have patrol cars, of course, with their lights activated warning other motorists to slow down and be careful and yet he becomes another statistic. Unfortunately, when we're crossing the street down. Town Cincinnati or anywhere. We don't have the same lights near us in the same protections in the alert to other people out there. And we have a lot of tragedies. What makes Cincinnati so uniquely different Amy Murray, in your opinion that we are the most dangerous of Ohio's three biggest cities when it comes to pedestrians and cars why? Well, you know, it's we're looking at it, and we had this. Let me go back. We had a meeting on public safety yesterday and Gaby Rodriguez parents were there, and she was the girl that was struck and killed by watching highschool, and we're trying to deal with city council of how can we prevent any of this from happening? And especially we're looking right now at schools because we have a lot of kids that are getting on metro buses while it dark in the morning crossing streets, where maybe Dr Crosswalks, and you know, part of what we're doing is we're putting flashing lights in the Crosswalks in the school area. But people know, but what's interesting Sloan is as you may recall a few weeks ago. There was another person that was struck. A date or high school, and there was a police officer with their lights on at that. Same intersection. So people knew that there was a crosswalk coming up. There's a police car there were lights and someone was still struck. So what we really really have to focus on is driver, safety and pedestrian safety. And we're going to do everything we can is a city to get lights and flashing things and signed let people know, but I just ask everyone out there. That's driving. We just have to be more vigilant. We absolutely must and out there the Rodriguez family. Mr. MRs Rodriguez came in yesterday Dhillon public safety and talked about the death of their daughter. Their loss, and it just really strike home. That is a driver you're driving. You might not notice if someone comes out, you know, we always. Doc between parked cars. So I just encourage everyone that's driving just be extra vigilant. I even noticed myself after this meeting yesterday because it was just so devastating. There were probably three times that I had a cracked my cellphone. I'm driving either changing the radio station or someone call him. I know I'm just focusing on the road. And I'd agree. I found I've been driving behind you. You're a terrible writer, but I'm just encouraging people that you really have to just stay focused and just say whatever else is going on in the car, you have ignore it. You should not be taxing on the phone or anything like that. I mean because when you just hear the loss of a family to their daughter that was killed by a car. And now officer would then you know, it happened. I think more than four hundred times in the greater Cincinnati area that Tony was hit by a car. And so and I would encourage pedestrians. Also when you are crossing a street, you know, whether it's at a crosswalk, which is ideally where it should be. But if it's not you got to really look because you can't assume the cars are going to see you. And you know, we really need to get that message out that every needs. We're gonna do everything we can to make Crosswalks areas safer and superintendent Mitchell was at our meeting yesterday because of the CPS superintendent because she's so concerned about this. And you know, part of it is if you have a metro buses picking students up if it's not near crosswalk. Walk then you are going to have people and other side of the road crossings, and some of these roads are very busy in the morning and all day long. So we're really looking at those. So that were not foreseen are high school students or junior high students to have to cross it in a dangerous area council person. Amy, Mary, she's co-chair law and public safety talking about Cincinnati streets is the most dangerous in Ohio when it comes to pedestrian and car accidents, four hundred accidents in there was something like nine or ten Fatos. I believe in Hamlin county alone last year, which is a high watermark over the last two decades and this fits in, of course, with the profound tragedy of the death of officer. Dell wasn't rain struck by a car while investigating a crash scene. And I look at this Amy Murray in as you dig down into the details of these accidents now, those fatal accidents, and you were saying, you know, be careful behind the wheel of a car don't text and drive pay attention, but in almost all except for the Gabrielle Rodriguez tragedy. She was crossing crosswalk out of the ten nine of them. The pedestrian was at fault. So I look at that and go can we do better with Crosswalks, but do people just not care or pay attention when they're walking I understand the driving element. And it's easy to let lay the blame. It it distractions and devices, but what responsibility in burden does the pedestrian have. Well, they absolutely do. And part of our tramp part of what our transportation department said yesterday. Excuse me, is that we need more. I guess three in education, and that's not going to solve the problem by especially for school students. Excuse me, we need to let them know that they need to be careful when they get into cross even if you're in a crosswalk. You're not invincible cars are still coming. They might not see you. And so we're looking right now at least at the school Crosswalks of putting fines up just reminding people some of the new systems that we're going to have slow any persons in the crosswalk would hit a light. And then it will start flashing so that motorists know that they're coming. So hopefully by pedestrian doing that dealt think about it, and we need to make sure that they do press a button for the light goes off. So that motorists notice in that crosswalk, but you know, someone's driving along and if they're distracted for a minute and booking down and you get in a crosswalk. They might not see you. And even though you have the right away. It's a bigger vehicle. You know, you're the one that's going to be injured. So we're really trying to work with people that when you're in a crosswalk you've got to proceed with. Caution. And I can't tell you how many times, you know. I see people that go and Crosswalks than assume I'm in a crosswalk. But you absolutely cannot assume that you need to look every direction, and if a car is coming you'd have that contact with the driver to make sure that they see your eyes. And you know, that they see you. Yeah. No question about that. And and that is the thing even in a car, I look left. I look, right. I look left again before I drive through an intersection this morning. I'm driving and getting off the ramp to to Montgomery road here at the station off seventy one. And my light turns green look laughed. I look, right. I look left again about the hit the gas in this dude blows through the late late red light had I just gone as soon as the light turned green like a race car. I I, you know, he's pretty far away. I don't think I would have been struck. I probably would have reacted. But that's why you gotta do that. Because people aren't paying attention and clearly blowing through a red light. So he can get the McDonald's I love to go and slap that guy around, but I had to get to work to come talk to you. So. We we have these tragedies across all the time because people are in a hurry. Is it really that important to get that Cup of coffee is it worth deliberately going through a red light or not paying attention. Because you gotta get that text message that someone just sent you. All it takes us a simple distraction. I'm guilty of it as anyone else looking at my phone driving fast. I I get it. Here's me preaching. And I need to take better care. How I handle my business behind the wheel. Because in the blink of an eye. It could be over for you or a complete stranger whose life could end tragically like like this officer del woods in Coleraine township. And that's what the you know, again, that's an inactive crashing where you have lights activated. That's the one. I don't understand is this happens all the time you see videos like the state highway patrol where they've got a vehicle pulled over the lights are activated. The troopers on the side of the road, and bam somebody hits the car. I don't understand how you don't get over or how you wind up striking a vehicle that has its lights activated. That makes no sense to me. It makes absolutely no sense. And we've had two accidents like that with officer woods, and then the young girl at my high school where priests lights were flashing. We were sitting there we as a city. We're trying to do everything we could to let people know here's a crosswalk, and so it's really both on the driver and honestly destory on. But you know, I think of myself as a conscientious driver but yesterday after the Rodriguez family where they are. And it just touched me so much because having lost a daughter and people can look down and be distracted in a minute. And not only could you hit song. But your life changes. Also, you know, no one wakes up in the morning, and it gets behind the wheel of their car and thinks that this is going to happen. And when it happens, you hear people say, I just looked down for a minute or I did that. So you know, I would just encourage everyone. We've really got a relook at it. Because when you and I learned to drive he didn't have all those distractions. You might have a cassette tape in your car. But you know, you didn't have a lot of distractions of other things that are going to buzz and beep in your car, so I just encourage everyone driving right now. Just be extra cautious. And, you know, the Rodriguez family made a common and said, you know, we had never walked with our daughter the route she went to school to realize how dangerous it was or as far as where she had to cross some of the streets..
