"Season. It's weird to say, But summer is probably it at least this freaking summer I don't ever want is another summer like this one again, But, yeah, I love the the temperatures that are Not extreme, and we have this debate in my family vacation. Whether or not you would take extreme cold or extreme heat if you could only have one of the other And I suppose there are parts of the world where you can have one of the other. Uh, I love the four seasons because I can appreciate some qualities of all of them. But producer James, what would you take? Would you go with heat all the time or cold? All the time, I would go with cold all the time to actually I can't stand humidity. I hate it. I like being you know, when I'm cold. I can always layer up and add more blankets or more, You know another thermal or more anything, And just when I'm hot there, there's just no relief, exactly And especially when it comes to as I mentioned, the humidity feeling like the quality of the air is so heavy. I really prefer the crisp, clear, clean quality of winter. Plus, I'm a snow freak. We're still getting to know each other. I don't know whether or not you love snow, but I'll just warn you right now. I pray for snow, So when it happens, you can blame me or you can thank me one of the other So yeah, if I had to choose, I think half our family was divided, half of us, said winter, half of us said Summer time, So I'm not sorry that we're nearly two football season, I guess is my point. It's and peanut butter and jelly. That was also the point. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. We're live from the rocket mortgage studios. NFL Draft: Players Selected in the First Round

"With Aaron Rodgers wanting out of Green Bay, according to reports a night that ended with pick number 32, the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers going with AH, linebacker from Washington, Joe try on and there's a lot more to come. And there was a lot that was jammed in between those two big events. I thought it was really cool to thieve. The number of Alabama products six of them in the first round, which ties the record set by Miami. Back in 2004. I was thrilled to see Devante Smith go at number 10. Overall, The Eagles actually moved up to get in which I think is neat and they traded with E. Dallas Cowboys, their NFC East rival to grab Devante, and he's impressed me not only on the field, but off the field as well. Patrick's or Tan Hey, was sporting an incredible pink suit, though, is a lot to like about what we saw with the Alabama contingent. But also did you know it's the first time in any NFL draft that seven Players from one side of the ball were taken with the first seven picks in a row. Seven offensive players Bing Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing Bing Bing, first time that's ever happened where one side has had the first seven picks in a rose. There's a lot to

MLB To Try Experimental Rules This Year

"So here are some of the experimental rules that Major League baseball's tinker with this year. The minor league level. I think I'm about to say, like experimental drugs to help you deal with this situation. With the bank. So Major league Baseball is going to try. 15 2nd pitch clock. Let's start here. I mean, they've already been trying to tinker with this for a while. Pitch clock in the minors and trying to get this into the major leagues and the major League Players Association doesn't want it. But that's nothing new. I think it's a good idea. I don't see anything wrong with a pitch clock. Making sure pictures move quicker. Batters move quicker, and if you don't if you're not in the box or the pitches in off by 15 seconds, it's a ball or a strike, depending on the picture of the hitter. To me. I love the pitch clock. What do you think I do, too? It's just odd to me that here we are 2021. I feel like we've had the same pitch clock conversation for about five years. And I know the players association doesn't want it. But I don't even know why this is even being written about it. Still tinkering was they're changing the amount of seconds But we've been there. Done this with the pitch clock either. Make it happen, or don't Mortgage Ames govern to buying Elektronik Strike Zone So there was some light tinkering the last two seasons, I think, and now more expanded use of the Elektronik strikes only robot umpire now the way that this is Being implemented. It's not. There is a robot like Judy Jetson behind the plate or not. Judy Jetson, who's the robot from the Jetsons, the maid? Whatever the maid was. It's not like that's the robot behind the plate. It is an electronic strike zone and that a human empire behind the plate gets the read either Baller strike and calls it I guess they do have final say that the human Um, can override it but that he is getting fed the information from Elektronik Strike Zone again. I like this is well, considering how Much of a discrepancy There is with human Empire's I'm on board with this. What do you think? Well, two things number one. It's Rosie. The robot is bogus. Always out objections. I'd love the idea of robot umpires. My only question is when you start giving a guy like Angel Hernandez, let's say a chance to override Do empires. Egos get in the way, and they just don't care with robot is telling them And also is this going to be done quick enough where it's not going to slow down the game. All right away. You get something you're going strike Paul, and whatever Rosie the robot voice, and then they have to make that split decision whether to override it or not. I just I like the idea. But I think you're also giving umpires a chance to allow their egos to get in the way and make their own calls

"To you. Thanks so much for joining us. I am stunned by the number of people who tell me that you laughed during my radio show. I mean, there were times when I'm trying to be serious. You know that right? No, I think it's good to laugh and Even though it's always been my approach to sports radio to be irreverent, it's not life or death. How many times have you heard me say that it's like, not life or death? It's not the war overseas. It's not the fight against cancer. It's not co vid. It's sports, for heaven sakes, and while very often life in sports will intersect. Most of what we do here on the show. I maintain a fairly irreverent approach to sarcasm is my love language, so generally take everything I say. Through the lens of humor or sarcasm or recognize that I'm very rarely super serious, dead serious about the world of sports because it Z for us. It's entertainment for them. It's a business and I understand we at times need to look at the world of sports through the lens of the coaches of the players, and I certainly do like the highlight the human interest stories. But for heaven's sakes, it's It's not earth, shattering most of the time. It's supposed to be fun. So I'm glad that you will laugh when you listen to the show. But I'm a little bit concerned that you're not laughing at what I'm saying. You're laughing and how I'm saying it or sometimes the dumb mistakes I'm making. I suppose it's not a whole lot I could do about that. So it is what it is. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio, I guess when I threw out our question, though, and I asked you what's made you laugh this week. I didn't expect that so many of you would say your show. Producer, Frank I need a little validation here. Should I take that as a compliment? Context is King. But I can create my own context. I think because people are just telling me they laugh during my show. That's good, right if you can create your own context, And why would you put it in a bad context? Right? Whatever. It was supposed to be an opportunity for you to give me validation, not rhetorically. Throw the question back in my face. Yes, they are laughing with you. Not at you. Okay near me. They're laughing near me. See, I'm laughing. Now. We've come up with some audio that we think it's funny. That will maybe create some submerged for you on this Thursday morning. I just can't believe it's February. 11 that I was saying is we were heading up to the top of the last hour. That it blows my mind 11 months ago was the MBA, suspending all operations on day. So much has changed in sports and in our world in the last 11 months, And yet we've forged ahead and we've we figured out a way to do life. It looks different sounds different. It feels different A lot of times. But laughter is still a great medicine and laughter still burns calories, and I still think it's really important. So when I was standing out in my yard on Tuesday morning, I had just finished walking the dog Penny, and I'd finished our morning walk. She is a morning dog and I am Well, I'm not a morning person or a morning dog. Regardless of when I wake up. I do not do well, it mornings if morning happens to be three o'clock in the afternoon, while I still it still takes me a while. In some coffee TOC take out the cobwebs. Penny is a morning person. She loves the mornings, I guess because she's just been sleeping for the last 12 hours. So why not so she gets all excited, especially when it's cold? She loves the snow. This is what happens and this This is a routine now with her because we have about 2 Ft. Of snow in my front yard. I will turn my back either to open up the door. So unlock the door. And as we get ready to walk in after our walk, or I will go around the side of the house and all you know, use the trash can or grab the recycles to put about the street. Whatever it is, I turned my back on the dog for a couple of seconds. It's very it's a quick short. Amount of time I turn around the dog staring at me, with her entire face covered with snow. And she looks so goofy and I know she's waiting for me to react. Australian shepherds are too smart for their own good. They are very quick to pick up on their human triggers. They understand what's going on with their humans. And so this is what she does. She smashes her face. She doesn't face plant on purpose into the snow, or she gets a running start and body slams the snow and a lot of places in my neighborhood right now, the snowdrifts Well, they're not dress the snow piles or the you know, kind of the cast off from from where people have shoveled. The to the sides of the snow walls. They're taller than she is. So you would lose her. If you were standing on the other side of the snow pile the snow wall. You would not even be able to see her. So she gets this kind of running store in smashes her body into the snow. Or she plunges her face into a pile of snow, and she pulls her face out in her entire face is covered with snow, and she looks like such an idiot. That I can't laugh out loud and she does it on purpose. This is not an accident. My dog is actually shoving her face into the snow on purpose. Like she's a little kid or something. And so it makes me laugh. I can't help it. She just looks so goofy and the fact that my dog is doing this on purpose. I'm pretty sure to make me laugh just is is the cherry on top. So my dog makes me laugh My Grammy Helen, I spoke to her on Wednesday evening. I initially called when she was eating dinner, and so I had to call back. On dshaughnessy. She always makes me laugh, too. I told her no more falling, and she giggled at that, like it was the funniest thing I've ever said. And then I told her that she's my superhero. She is a superhero, my favorite superhero, and she laughs at that, too. And s so we We talked about the snow. I told her how much snow we had and that it took me two hours to dig my car out, and she laughed at that, too. So I come by it. Honestly, it's hereditary, laughing at nothing and everything. I blame my Grammy Helen for the That, but it was sure was good to hear her laugh. And then this is kind of where the idea came from. Tito ask you what's made you laugh this week. My friend of mine, my friend Mark and I. We were on the phone Tuesday. No Wednesday. Sorry. See, my days all run together every time we were on the phone Wednesday, and we were talking about how it's been such a long time since we've had the occasion to dress up and he had to do this TV appearance, and so he mentioned that he had worn a suit and tied it was the first time and probably a year that he'd worn a suit and tie. And I said the same thing that I sometimes put on. Nice. You were to come to work, even though no one sees it. And even though it's pointless on Gui decided we were gonna go to the grocery store all dressed up. I was gonna wear a dress and heels and all my jewelry and he was gonna wear a suit and tie. We were just gonna go to the grocery store and we were gonna pretend like it was date night and we were going to laugh. One of the people stared at us. So whatever it takes peeps, whatever it takes to make yourselves laugh that's required this day and age. "Ship of Giants baseball. Okay NPR and KNBR F San Francisco Police force leader This. He's after hours with Amy Lawrence. Yes, Tom Brady. Yes, We need to talk about Tom Brady. We will talk about Tom Brady. But I He can't be the on Lee guy we talk about in the wake of Super Bowl 55. There are so many other amazing stories and story lines to come out of the Buccaneers Second Super Bowl win in franchise history. First of all, do the bucks know how to play defense in the Super Bowl, or what? Going back to their first Super Bowl of parents, which was Super Bowl 37. The defense full of Hall of Famers, including the latest in John Lynch, who was just informed that he's been selected for the 2021 class. Was, of course there on the field. Where his former team used to play. He was there. Derrick Brooks Warren Sapp. I could go on and on. In fact, it was the defense sieve player who won m v p the last time the books were in the championship. And think about what this Buck's defense did, too. Patrick Mahomes. Travis Kelsey Tyree Kill Clyde Edwards, a lair Me, Cole Hardman. I'm not even sure I heard Hartman's name uttered the entire game. The defense shows up in Super Bowls for Tampa. As they grab their second championship in franchise history and their first in nearly 20 years. And how about the first timers? Who will have rings to add to their Collection. Bye collection. I mean, those trophies they got when they were kids. Maybe some hardware from college. Mike Evans. One of the best receivers in the NFL for years. When he's healthy. Finally, we'll have a ring. There's so many guys on this Buccaneers. Roster. That gets a taste. The thrill of victory for the first time. So, yes, Tom Brady, and he's a major reason Why they are the team that's last standing why they are at the pinnacle of the NFL mountain. But he's not the only story. The home cooking. Hey, but not only becoming the first City to host Its own team in a Super Bowl. But also making NFL history as the only team. To ever win a Super Bowl in its home stadium. Bruce Arians. The oldest head coach to ever win a title, his diverse staff Todd Bowles. To go along on the defensive side of the ball. Byron Leftwich on the offensive side of the ball, both African American two women on his coaching staff, who, of course, now become the first two female coaches in NFL history to win Super Bowl rings. And This will forever be My favorite. Storyline from Super Bowl 55. Hey, Air Ian's Bruce is Mom 95 years old. She was there at the game. She got to see Her boy. Bruce, win a Super Bowl in person. How amazing is that? You guys? It's incredible enough. That the NFL managed to play all the way through a season. And crown a champion on time. In the middle of a pandemic. But there are roughly 25,000 fans in attendance, and one of them was Bruce is 95 year old mother. I mean, that's amazing. Maybe it doesn't happen. If this game is not in Tampa Maybe it doesn't happen. If it's a full crowd. Who knows? I'm just so glad at 95 years old. She had a chance to be there. To celebrate with their son to experience that moment with her son and with her family. So, yes. Tom Brady? Yes. Seven Super Bowl rings, five Super Bowl MVPs. Yes. The oldest Yes. The go to all of those things. But it's not the only thing We've got to cover all the great storylines to make this.

"After hours with Amy Lawrence. There's always a warning that you hear on the news. Or the weather channel during the wintertime. Beware of walking under rooftops or overhangs because of, you know, falling ice. Well, I didn't look up before I walked out of the house to get in the car and come to work and I didn't realize there was a stalactite. Hanging from the overhang. On my roof. And I kid you not I opened up my door. Here. Crack And this large chunk of ice breaks off of the still locked tight and Haunts me right on my noggin. Have you gave a bruise? I don't have a concussion, so don't worry. I was able to drive to work and I feel as though I'm in full possession of my senses. But this may be the first time in my adult life. Certainly the first time I can remember ever having a still act tight, dislodge. And bounce off my ne gin. Didn't die hurts a little bit. All right, though it won't be up. There was no more grogginess after that. Yikes! Beware. Beware of falling ice. I'm going to join the chorus of news people and weather people who tell you Beware of falling ice, especially when you're walking underneath the overhang on your roof or you are Just emerging from a blizzard in your neighborhood. I did a very small amount of shoveling on Wednesday evening, and I picked up the shovel. All I did was pick up the shovel. And when, Uh oh, just a laugh makes me hurt. I think the 90 minutes of hard shoveling or hard labor on Tuesday is gonna catch up with me even worse. Coming up on Thursday. I can feel it. My muscles are yapping at me. So I have Bump of atop my head and I have a very sore muscles that I forgot that I even possessed and that's what I get. And I don't need any of you Still to tell me how much I need to invest in the snow blower? Nope, I'm good. This is Well, this is my excuse to eat two desserts. Oh, the exercise I'm getting from the shoveling. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio, No problem driving around the New York City area on Wednesday evening. Roads are all clear, except there's no parking anywhere. And so for the second time in three nights in New York City, I am absolutely parked illegally. However, I'm not the only one. I'm pretty sure. Every car within a two block radius is parked illegally because there's really no place to go. Everybody's perched on snow banks, So I feel as though I'm just a number. There's strength in numbers. So as I do the show tonight as we get through these next few hours, I don't have to worry about getting towed. Why would they pull my car first? Oh, I got to the mess out there. And for those of you who are in the Northeast or along the 95 corridor or back of the upper Midwest where the storm started. You certainly understand what I'm talking about. Just just beware of the falling ice. Don't say I didn't warn you..

And if we wanted to, we could do an entire show of nothing but Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, Bruce Arians and Tom Brady. So maybe there's even more access because they don't have to be in a particular place. Sustained at a particular podium. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. Thanks so much for tuning in from the Super secret home base. I love that many of you are now starting to send me your food suggestions for Super Bowl weekend. I do need something new. Something different. Little outside the box. I enjoy cooking. I always try to make one particular baked good for big events like this. So for championship Sunday, I made fresh chocolate chip cookies. Oh, they were so good, amazed to give away most of them to friends and also some. It worked as well took him over to my neighbor on Saturday so that I could share them with their kids and not have them all in the house. But I need a new baked goods. So maybe I was thinking about making a new coconut cream pie. I know it has absolutely nothing to do with football, but it's my favorite kind of poppy. So, yeah, I'm going to find some people to share that coconut cream pie with a swell, But if you've got some Main course suggestions for Super Bowl Sunday. That would be awesome. Find me on Twitter, a low radio on our Facebook page after hours with Amy Lawrence, and the question essentially is what are your favorite things about Super Bowl weekend about the Super Bowl itself that comes up on Sunday? Maybe some of you are thrilled with the fact of the game starts at six o'clock Eastern, six o'clock Tampa time. Three o'clock Pacific. Because you won't have to be up all night to watch a game or, like Sunday night football. How often does the game go until nearly midnight Eastern or on the rare occasion? It goes past midnight Eastern time, and people complain about the fact that the game kicks off too late. Keep in mind, of course, that TV CBS this year is trying to grab the prime time audience. And so they're looking for the best of both worlds. And I liked the fact that it's a Sunday. I think it's an event that most people I know really look forward to. Even my mom will watch the Super Bowl Now. I don't know if she would if Her husband was not watching. But she'll get into the Super Bowl because she enjoys well. She enjoys poking front of the halftime mostly because she's never heard of the people that are performing, but she enjoys seeing some of the commercials. I feel like this year they're going to tug at our heart strings, So I think I'll watch them out of one eye. I don't know that we're going to get as many funny commercials, though. I hope that we have a few that are outside the box. What are your favorite things about Super Bowl Week? It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. Our phone number is 855 to 124227. It's 855 to 1 to four. CBS will do an extended version of QB news coming up later this hour, and we're gonna hear Oh, for heaven sakes when we're gonna hear again from Packers head coach Matt Leflore and now general manager Brian Guten Coons. And And Not only is he answering questions about Aaron Rodgers, which I feel like have been answered ad nauseum now. What did Mark Murphy tell us? We're not idiots. Okay, good. There's no more reason to ask this question except We are like dogs who buried a bone and we can't find it. So we're digging and digging and digging and digging and digging until we dig up the entire yard because we cannot leave that bone out there for one second longer than is absolutely necessary. We were tenacious, were ferocious when it comes to story lines like this. But Brian Guten Coast also gave an extensive answer about their plans for Jordan Love by the way, Jordan is scheduled to a couple of interviews on CBS Sports Radio coming up on Tuesday. We're going to allow our colleagues to take that story and run with it. Poor guy. How many questions can he answer about Aaron Rodgers? My gosh. So we'll do QB news coming up a little bit later on this hour. We've also got Darren Waller talking about Patrick Mahomes, which I think it's fun from the eyes of one of the best tight ends in the NFL with speaking of tight ends, Gronk was talking about Travis Kelsey. And as I think Perspective and insider's perspective on Travis Kelsey that maybe most people don't think about on then Art Rudy about Ben Rafa's burger yet again former Steeler who maybe has a different opinion, so little bit their toe wet your appetite on our QB news later on this hour and 15 minutes. I've got to tell you about my great adventure on Saturday didn't have a chance when we started the work week, snow and everything else going on with working from the after our super secret home base. Plus, obviously it was ah, really crazy Weekend in sports, But on Saturday I tried something new, something I've never done before, and It was good for me to be outside my comfort zone. "Football with Amy Lawrence. You are in the throes of Winter Storm or Lena will. Then I really hope that you are staying safe and you've made provisions to stay home. Or if you have to be out. Maybe you can walk trips through the piles of snow that had been dumped by the storm. It's It's pretty awesome. I have to say as the New Hampshire girl I love Snow. And the fact that I needed the equipment to do our radio interviews throughout the rest of the week. I'm very grateful to our engineering department for allowing me to bring the equipment home. Ah, couple days early, so that I could do my show this morning as well as our next show from the after our super secret home base because That keeps me from having to drive in the snow. I don't actually Doesn't actually bother me is the same. Not actually afraid and actually mind driving in the snow I have before wheel drive. Princess Leia has four wheel drive, but there are supposed to be 50 mile per hour winds and blizzard like conditions white out conditions on Monday morning and through the course of Monday. And I hate the idea that I could end up getting stuck somehow somewhere and that someone would have to come rescue me. So I don't want crews to have to deal with me or first responders to have to worry about getting my butt off the side of the road. If I got stranded, and so it's better to be off the roads for sure, and that way the crews can do their jobs, and I know a lot of you. You are working overnight to shovel or to plow. And so I appreciate the fact that many of you are listening to us, and we are really excited to keep you company. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio that the weekend that we did not have any football games was not devoid. Of drama Holy cow from Friday afternoon when I was waking up to the news of, well, David Collie and Nick a stereo. I think that was kind of the first thing that I was conscious of. On Friday, the fact that they drew the line when it comes to to Shawn Watson in Houston. Shawn Watson is our quarterback, and I quote could stereo. We have zero interest in trading the player now he did refer to him as Watson before that, he obviously can't because Watson's under contract with the Texan, so this is not like What we hear in the NBA sometimes when they can't even utter the name of a player on another team for fear of being accused of tampering, So that was where it started. And then it wa snake Syriani in his comments kind of he stuttered a bit, but his comments about Carson went as if he did not know the questions would be coming. And then on through Saturday and Whoa, That was my reaction. On Saturday evening, I was cooking dinner and I see the news of the Matthew Stafford. Jared Gulf Trade break on my phone, and I tweeted my exact reaction. Whoa! It's ah! Incredible analysis and I would say that the type of Tweet that you seriously can't afford to miss. So you should follow me on Twitter, a low radio. I think I might have used an emoji as well. That was what it was in the immediate was Whoa. So that trade happening on Saturday. We also find out that the Cardinals are trading for Nolan era NATO and gosh. The Rockies talk about buyer's remorse, but they were caught between a rock and a hard place with the losses in the billions for Major league baseball franchises. Still, owing $200 million to urinate over the next six years, and they can't afford it. Not to mention he's unhappy, but they it's not just the fact that they cleared the 200 million off the books. It's the back of their paying 25% of that, even though Aaron NATO is no longer Iraqi. That's how much They needed to get rid of that contract. Wow. How often do one of these They're happening more often. Now. One of these $300 million contracts or $250 million contracts over the course of six plus years come back to bite a franchise in the butt, and this happened so quickly almost as soon as they gave Aaron a tow the contract The Rockies really started to flounder and struggle and he was unhappy and it wasn't long before he was asking out. They couldn't find a taker forum in advance of the baby 2020 season. But they've been working on this with the Cardinals for quite a while, but to have to pay 50 million off the 200 million they still owed. Literally a quarter of his salary. They're going to pay the cardinals to take him. One of the best players in major league baseball. Talk about a mistake, and I don't mean a mistake in terms of giving him the money, just a mistake in terms of the contract that they could not manage, and that instantly came back to bite him in the rare so that also happened, then we find out from Major League Baseball. That there is a proposal on the table. The union is considering delaying the start of the upcoming season on bit wouldn't be that many games chopped off the schedule right now. The proposal is starting the season in late April and then Trimming it from 1 62 to 154 games. But there are other pieces of it. Spring training kind of being shortened or May be delayed in you could imagine the players union doesn't want to have a situation like they did last year, where they start spring training and then cancel and everybody kind of goes home and disperses. And so they're trying to also determine the start of spring training. The expanded post season will be full pay full salary for the players this year. They are entitled to it. And to this point, no one has asked them to take less money. We'll see whether or not that changes the Universal D. H appears to be a sticking point as well. And so there are a lot of pieces Sure you're not surprised considering the fight. Between baseball in the union in 2020, and they barely got the season on the field at all. So a lot of drama in the world of sports in the NBA, there was some games that went down to the wire. Russell Westbrook gave the proverbial middle finger to his former teammates, KD and James Harden in hitting a late three and helping the Wizard's rally from Five points down with 12 seconds to go toe to win that game against the Nets on Sunday night. So the Nets clearly have a defense problem in that they don't have a defense. And meanwhile, Russell Westbrook gets the last laugh. And so this is just a really interesting weekend. And I'm gonna come back, of course to the Jared Goff. Matthew Stafford, because that was the Wow moment or is I tweeted so succinctly? Whoa! It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio from the super secret home base. I'm having some flashbacks. But I don't mind being here sparingly every now and then just got the first howl from the cat. So she's.

"I've been cheating. I've been looking at some of the questions for asking me anything I'm not supposed to, but sometimes I can't help it. And then some of them you send to my Twitter account, and so I see them and I will confess there some questions that I actually really like. So that's cool. Thank you so much for your interest. As always. It's the longest running franchise. Here on after hours. It goes back to our times. We were hosting the three shows on the weekend, Friday, Saturday Sunday, and we've carried it over and now here we are into year number nine with after hours and ask Amy anything has been part of seven of those years. So it's some point. I suppose you'll run out of questions and I'll run out of answers. We've put it on the shell. We've tabled it for a time. I think there was a summer where we put it aside. But we've come back to it because many of you will send us questions throughout the week, actually, and we're glad that you're interested. Usually it's questions that don't have anything to do with sports, or if they do. They're not about professional sports. So we'll collect those questions and we will throw them out there. Producer Day's gonna throw it up like a softball, and I'm gonna hit it out of the park. So that's coming up about 90 minutes from now, So you have some time to be creative. And you spell your questions correctly on Twitter after our CBS or on our Facebook page after hours with Amy Lawrence, Thank you for all of your suggestions about a pet ramp. I had originally thought that potentially I could use a step stool for Penny, but actually think that that's the step stool that I have is probably too steep for her, and she would be afraid of it. On, so I'm gonna try a pet ramp. That's my next option. I don't think I have any two by fours or four by fours, laying around or plywood, and I'm not sure plywood would actually support my dog. She's got a big old, but I think she's an Italian dog. No, she's not, but but she's a solid papa. And she's like her mom. She's big boned. And so we're gonna try a ramp and see how that works. But as I say, we've got some some road tripping in our future. And so Penny loves to go to the park on the weekends. We love to take road trips, and I don't want her to be sore or in pain when she's trying to get it out of the car or worse. Be afraid of getting in and out of the car. So thank you for your suggestions. My Twitter is a law radio And then our phone number is 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 that they 55 to 1 to four. CBS. We're live from the Rocket Mortgage Studios. Rocket mortgage is giving away two half million dollar prizes during Super Bowl 55 that could be used to buy your dream home, See rules and enter for free today. At rocket mortgage sweepstakes dot com. So a few things that I want to get to this hour and hope that we will be able to feel more of your phone calls. I think we will coming up sometime in the next hour. Dan Miller, the Amazing Incredibles descriptive, excitable Excitable. That's the word Dan Miller from the Lions radio network. He's one of my favorite listens, and it was a big day for the Detroit Lions because they introduced their new general manager, and he made his initial comments and likely to be introducing their head coach coming up maybe on Wednesday, and even though the team hasn't confirmed it yet. We believe it's Dian Campbell coming out of the Saint's organization, and so there's ah lot that's happening in Detroit. They've got questions about Matt Stafford, of course, and did. Miller is the longtime radio voice there and also with Fox to as the sports director, So we will talk to Dan coming up in this next hour. And of course, there have been general managers introduced in various other places as well. Head coaches are getting their first opportunities to speak to the media. I mentioned Denver are our caller mentioned the wilderness of Denver. Right before we hit the top of the hour. Will they have hired George Patton? No, not the General George Patton as their new GM. And this is the one that went pretty quickly to my understanding. He he had multiple opportunities and interviews, but he chose Denver and this was the guy that John Elway wanted. So John Elway, moving up in the front office will no longer be responsible for the roster and The putting together of the talent they're keeping Vic Fangio's. There's kind of Ah, a no overlap there. It doesn't always work out where coach and general manager not hired or brought it the same time, But Fangio is a lifer in the NFL. He's in his sixties. He's been around forever, and so you could expect that he would understand what's on the line here. So John Elway was kind of looking Now this is a new opportunity to get a fresh set of eyes on the roster on he's really excited that they can move forward. It's George Patton. We're very fortunate that he liked our situation and she chose to come to Denver, which were spittle about, But I think that shows a lot about a man as far as what kind of job he wants. What kind of success Who wants to have and it's not just about money, So we're thrilled that George.

"He's after hours with Amy Lawrence. I can't remember the last time I was bored. Is that weird? Do you remember the last time you were bored? And I suppose, over the course of 2020 and now early in 21, if you live in an area where a lot of Industry is still shut down. A lot of entertainment is still unavailable. Then then maybe you can say yes, I remember the last time I was bored, I guess. More specifically, I was thinking about work and sports. And feeling like the wheel just never stops every time. I think there might be a loan. It just doesn't happen. And I am grateful for that. Because I do remember the days last March, April, even into May were a lot of what we talked about was speculation when with sports return, what would they look like? We also talked about food. Actually, producer Dave I think last year we may have stumbled on a brand new tradition that will have to bring back again. Remember during final four week or what would have been final Four week we did your final four in a bunch of different categories. Breakfast foods I think was my favorite movie soundtracks was another one. If I remember correctly Have to go back and look at our social media to see. But that may be a tradition that we keep because we did enjoy getting off the beaten path and starting the shows with good news as much as possible and talking about Working from home and working with pets and kids, and the moving process is I was buying a new house and just everything that that we could think of. Toc stay entertained in the stay engaged and now here we are, and sports are obviously back in full board. I don't quite look and sound the way they have. But We are blessed to have them every single day. Every single season is on target on schedule, if even if it's as I say, it looks a little different, or it's a little short under tweaked here, there. And as I was thinking about different topics for the show, there's breaking news from Major league Baseball. It just popped into my head again. There is never a dull moment. In this business, and I hope for sports fans that you find something to make you smile. You find something to engage you to give you a distraction. I know a lot of you over the last couple of days have sent Either tweets or Facebook messages telling us how much you appreciate the show. And our social media has been really busy. We we don't we don't always Get to everything Gle topic, and it's cool that many of you want to know our thoughts on this particular team or this particular game on so we try to cram in as much as we possibly can. We will do that again. As we head through this show our hump show as well as through the rest of the week, cause you know, by the time you get to the home show You can almost see the weekend. God, that is my attempt to be hopeful and energetic.

"With Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. Oh, heavens. It was so nice, right? It was a month or so of Euphoria and goodwill and excitement around the New York Mets. And now this, I suppose that into every Into every bright corner of the world. A little rain must fall. And this is the first blip on the radar that Steve Cohen will have to handle. I can't imagine it's a difficult decision. We're not talking about a general manager who was a nobody in 2016. We're talking about a guy who was working in the Cubs front office who was harassing a female reporter, and she has the proof. To show And here's the crazy thing. The Mets did know about it until yesterday. Great. That's exactly what you want to find out about your new general manager. Before you rely on him before he gets entrenched in all your business. It's time to make a change. Sciortino Jared Porter about next time don't send other people's pictures with, you know, just Saw Gopi be is that not wholly appropriate in this situation, considering that border told ESPN that those were not his Anatomy's hey wasn't even sending pictures of his own. "Talk football with Amy Lawrence. Seriously tell the truth at that point in the Browns Chiefs game, did you think level was going to win? Because I did? I did. I thought this is happening. The bills are going to host the A F. C championship with the Browns two teams that had not had playoff win since the mid nineties are going to face each other. To cap what has been a nun. Predictable, completely irregular, irrational, illogical season. We're gonna have bills and Brown's in the A F C championship. My apologies, Chad Henny. It's my apologies, Eddie read. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio Man Alive. Twitter was hopping at this point. And why not? The Browns had gone from being down 20 to 10. At the end of the third. Right after Patrick. The homes had been declared out with the concussion as you here with Kevin Harlan on the Westwood one radio network. Cleveland puts together this incredible 18 18 play, Dr. It was masterful. Baker Mayfield locked in there using the run to set up the path. Everyone is pulling his weight. They convert five first downs, including 2/4 down conversions. Austin Hooper with a diving grab in the red Zone might have been the catch of his life. Season saving grab, and ultimately, Karim Hunt gets into the end zone and 18 play drive. The goes eight minutes and right after that, Chad Henny throws an interception in the end zone. Maybe some nerves. After all, it was his first ever. Playoff appearance. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. Jim Donovan, with the call in the Browns radio network. Got even more interesting from there. Seriously. You cannot write a script like this. And this is what I love about sports. Even in 2020 Now, 21, where nothing feels the same were fans are Only filling a few seats and each stadium. Where sometimes Sports don't provide that same entertainment and distraction as they have because things are so upside down in our world, these air still the moments That remind me why I'm a sports fan and why I could never give it up and why I have one of the coolest jobs in the world. Cleveland gets the ball back with eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter. And the case. The city defense, which is not one of those defense is that completely shut you down. It's a big play defense. In fact, it kind of matches the offense that way Sacks. Turnovers stops huge tackles inches from the first down line. That's the type of defense. This is with the wisdom, the experience of the coaching staff as well as the veterans like Tyrone Matthew. And so Kansas City. He's able to prevent the Browns from getting a first down on that dry when they get the ball back, and Kevin Stravinsky decides not to go for it on fourth down Now, I can understand the thought process. I certainly can. They're at their at their own 32 yard line, Cleveland 32 Yard line. It's 1/4 and nine. We're not talking about 1/4 and two but 1/4 and nine and it's Chad Henny, who's quarterbacking, not Patrick Mahomes. This is not a light him up offense. He had a past battered down. He had one intercepted in the end zone so I can understand why you take your chances. You put this on the back your defense you say, Get us the ball back. Except analytics can measure what happens in these moments when you give a human being the opportunity of a lifetime, and so We get to the two minute warning. There's a first out in there the cheese at this point in trying to run as much time off the clock as they possibly can. 13 14 at the two minute warning. All of the snap in the center, the feeling when he wants to throw it many scrambling and comes to the near side. He's at the 40 45 50 Henny guys. He's close to a first down, but the 49 yard line really, really close. Chad Henny jumps up and.

"It certainly is a train wreck worth watching. In my opinion, Maybe it won't play out that way. Maybe this will be the model trade for all NBA franchises to come. Currently and down the road. But this is yet another reason why I find it harder and harder to stomach, the MBA, the current MBA, and this is coming from someone who is in the business that I'm in because of the MBA. I fell in love with basketball when I was an early team. I started playing it. Then I discovered the Boston Celtics. Now this is going back to the late eighties. The early nineties. The days of Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar. The days of the bad boys, then Michael Jordan. That's when I cut my teeth on the MBA. That's the game I fell in love with. That's what hooked me and made me want a career in sports broadcasting, and it's always been my dream job to do play by play for an NBA franchise. But I don't like today's MBA, and I've never been covert or secretive about it. I tell you, why all the time I can't stand Isil ball. I can't stand Constant three pointers from every angle and every inch of the court. I can't stand jacking it up when there's a better option. Don't like the fact that Very few teams even care about moving the basketball. And I really, really don't like the fact that it's no longer a contact sport that now hand checks are called flopping takes place all the time. No, it used to be. Sport where you could bang around. I was a power forward. I loved basketball is a contact sport. Would never survive in today's basketball because the rules have changed so much that you breathe on a player. It could be a foul. And so, of course, that's the way offensive players have tailor their games. There are some exceptions to the rule. The Golden State Warriors, the style of basketball they play. It reminded me of why I fell in love with the game in the first place. I love the ball movement. I love the fact that they can have all five guys on the court touched the basketball and they're always looking for the open shot. They don't care who scores. They don't care who facilitates as long as they get the highest quality and highest percentage shot. And yes, sometimes Steph Curry, taking it outrageous three is the highest percentage shot. They also play defense. Not every franchise in the MBA plays defense. And so over the last 10 years, I've found myself becoming more and more disenchanted with the National Basketball Association. Do I still cover it? Uh, it's my job. But I no longer enjoy it. Or I no longer get is captivated by it. As I used to. And these trades where everyone plays with his BFF is another big reason why Don't like players and teams orchestrating. These power couples and and now these power trios. I understand if you're in a league player, and you make a lot of money. It's become almost a rite of passage that you either forced her way out of town or you force your way into another franchise. There are cautionary tales. It doesn't always work. It did not work with the Clippers. It did not work with the Rockets last year. When James Harden desperately wanted Russell Westbrook. Those two guys couldn't co exist. Because they're essentially conjoined twins who've been separated. They do the same thing. But I don't know how it's gonna work in Brooklyn. I honestly don't And I can't stand the way that Harden got what he wanted. It makes him come across, is a spoiled brat. When you hear what bookie cousin said to say on his way out of town. You'll recognize it's not just me as a sports talk show host who feels that way. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. Good Morning to you. It's a Thursday in case you've lost.

I was a disaster most of the day just really tired and kind of Draghi and And fucked a lot. So that was nice. But man, the football weekend the working weekend and then going right into the national championship on money that I think kind of caught up with me a little bit. Um And so the the process of sitting on your couch watching football and taking notes is extremely exhausting. If you must know, And now is we get into our hump show the middle show of the work week. This is what happens to me, my brain and my mouth or not, on the same wavelength like my brain is the head of my mouth, and so Uh, I, uh Was saying radio, but I was reading weekend and it came out Wade Eo. I swear this weekend, the NFL playoffs continue on CBS and the A F. C is down to just the Final Four. Now with the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs Still the team to be of course, we asked this rhetorical question earlier. If you're the cheese, would you rather face the Ravens or the Browns right now? Uh, things that make you go from either way they don't really have a choice. The fact is, they're taking on Cleveland. And then you've got Baltimore that will be in Buffalo coming up on Saturday night under the lights. So which of those four teams takes the next step to the A F. C Championship on the road to Super Bowl 55? Well, you can find out this weekend this weekend. When the A F C divisional round plays out on CBS. 855 to 1 to 4 to 27855 to 1 to 4, CBS. Just got a tweet from a listener that says There are reports that shot Watson is threatening to retire to get out of the deal with the Texans. Also not gonna happen. No way because to retire, you would have to actually file the paperwork and give up time and give up a boatload of money. And maybe you think you can make it back. That's that's insane. Threatening to retire and actually retiring. If I'm the Texans. Go ahead, man. We'll call your bluff. I mean, I get it. I understand that he's unhappy, but he doesn't have any power right here. He's bald and Brady has facial hair like Moses and which he may end up having as he gets older, But the two of them are their elderly. I don't think Drew Brees is going to keep doing it The last couple years he's been banged up, and so he can maybe see the writing on the wall a little more clearly. Then can Tom Brady but I go back to Brady's own words in which he told Jim Graham Westwood one, I will play until I suck. "To use on a national radio show. Here's the crazy, Crazy Crazy thing. This weekend, so three teams. Get their first playoff victories in either. Nearly a decade or Nearly two decades or longer going back to the nineties. The table May Buccaneers Hadn't seen a playoff win since their Super Bowl. After the 02 season, So we're talking nearly 20 years. Browns and bills. It's been even longer. Not many people in Cleveland want to hear the name Bill Belichick. I get it. But that was the last time Cleveland had a playoff win. In fact, it wasn't even this franchise. It was the franchise now known as the Baltimore Ravens, though they Technically get to carry over their records. 1994 and for the Bills 95. The days of Jim Kelly and four consecutive Super Bowls. And this was a throwback weekend and it was awesome. I'm so happy for those of you who are fans of the Browns. The bills the Bucks. Yeah, We've still got some big dogs. We've got a fantastic Divisional weekend on tap. So we're back down to just four games coming up next Saturday and Sunday. Who he was, Ah, a lot of football this weekend. Let's be honest, and we still have Monday's national championship. So if you were like me, you got a whole lot of nothing done outside of watching football and, well, maybe didn't take notes. Maybe that was just me because I'm special. Here's your Your matchups for next Saturday and Sunday. We've got the Rams at the Packers to start things off Saturday afternoon, followed by Baltimore and Buffalo under the lights. Then on Sunday, it's Cleveland at the Super Bowl champion Kids a city chiefs. What, Just say it out Loud is amazing. And then Tampa Bay at New Orleans, which will be Yet another divisional rematch our third of these playoffs. We've already got some big time off season quarterback questions that don't have answers. But as I was saying last hour, could you imagine? Just chew on this for a second? If we've seen the last of Philip Rivers and Ben Rafa's burger. Maybe Alex Smith as well, though he's not a future Hall of Famer Drew Brees lives to play another weekend, but it's not gonna be easy against the Buccaneers or really at any point. Moving forward. This postseason could see the end of three. Future Hall of Fame quarterbacks. Because there's no way Tom Brady's leaving yet. What did he say? He's gonna play until he sucks. Yeah, we haven't seen that. Gosh, what a weekend Supersized wild card weekend. What do your major takeaways You're blowing up my Twitter and Facebook, which is awesome. "amy lawrence" Discussed on Xtra Sports Radio 1300 AM

"Mayor days away from what may be the craziest playoff weekend we've ever had in NFL history. We've never seen one like this. I can't do not. I have planned my entire weekend. So anything I need to get done and he TV binge watching. I need to do I just picked up Yellowstone Season three. From the library. So I've been watching Yellowstone Season three, at least on Saturday. I did watch the first three episodes, but everything that I want to do with my life this coming weekend whether it's take down some of the Christmas decorations, not the tree, mind you whether it's go for a run. If it happens to be warm enough outside, maybe get my car washed. Certainly cook nap. Anything I want to do this weekend revolves around the wild card schedule, of course, 18 hours of football. Now there are positives to it. The games are set up and straddled in a way that there's only one game at a time, which I appreciate because all this be honest, it's It's pretty frenetic and hectic. Chaotic even on NFL Sunday's during the regular season, trying to keep track of everything so producer David I were actually We were thrilled when we got done with our Sunday night Flash Monday morning show because it's the last of what we call the Sunday blitzes. Me. It's insane. Tioga again, follow the story lines and get the audio and track every single game every single weekend. So, too, on Lee Museum Eric Quotations have six games to follow. This weekend is Fantastic. It's simpler. On yet You can do absolutely nothing else with your weekend except watch football because it starts at 1 P.m. Eastern, Saturday and Sunday. That's 10 o'clock in the morning if you're a Pacific time And it runs all the way through. Let's say 11, we'll even give it a conservative estimate. 11 11 15 11 30. That's a brilliant long day of football both Saturday and Sunday. Now I'm not complaining. You remember the new House rule the amended set of House rules that included. What is the seven rules seven or six a. No freaking complaining. Remember, we talked about it in August. I don't care if the scores or 6 to 5. I don't care. Well, I do care about ties. I don't care of the football is the ugliest thing you've ever seen. We're not complaining. And so I am not complaining. I'm just merely pointing out that The NFL runs my life. But it's my favorite month of the year as a football fan as a sports fan. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS boards radio. We've narrowed it down to 14 who can win the Super Bowl. And of course, they don't all Have the same. They don't all have the same personnel V. They don't all have the same. Home field advantage. They don't all have the same. First week off. It's not equitable for all of these teams, so the odds are not the same for all of them. But they all have a chance, and that's the most you can ask for this time of the year. Everybody starts at 00 yet again, which is sweet. I love it. I love that anything can and will happen. So buckle the heck up. We're live from the rocket mortgage studios. When you need an expert to help navigate the home loan process. Rockets can On Twitter, a low radio. We're asking you about the teams that are not in the playoffs. So which of the head coaching jobs out there is the most attractive There are six It wasn't a super bloody black Monday is kind of nice. Actually, that We didn't see teams slashing personnel all over the league. Now, I suppose that the fact we already had multiple openings. It may be lessons the blow a little bit. But it wasn't as bad as what it has been in years past. Maybe they'll be a surprise firing. I tend to doubt it. At this point. You have more teams in the playoffs and We've had the teams with question marks come out and say they're keeping their coaches like Denver like Philadelphia. And so now. We can focus on those six openings, the GM openings as well. And as I think about some of the hot candidates, the names that we're hearing over and over Eric the enemy, Brian Table Arthur Smith, all offensive coordinators for playoff teams. Robert Sala, who is available to interview for any and every job because the Niners season is done. I think about those potential candidates. I really want to more attraction for Bill Cower. I would love for him to think about taking Ah, job in the NFL again. Urban Meyer. He's obviously free to interview How many times do you think urban Meyer's retired? As many times as Brett Farve or not yet. As many times as Michael Jordan or not yet, yeah, I think he's eclipsed Michael Jordan. Don't ever believe them when they've got the itch. So we're asking you. Which of these head coaching jobs is most attractive? Lot of your pointing to Jacksonville, which I think is great. Florida with the whole income tax situation, Not that you would. Well, I wouldn't make a choice based on simply finances and taxes, but there's another piece of it. Jacksonville also has that overall number one pick. And then, in addition has a ton of draft picks and a lot of salary cap space. And so you you've got Almost the opposite of the Houston situation right where they have It feels like no draft picks. Not as much flexibility. They do have AH, superstar quarterback. Which Jacksonville doesn't have, and we'll have to start fresh. Oh, poor gardener, Menchu. Not starting out to be a.

Dolphins' Tagovailoa wins first career NFL start

"It always seems like he can find the bright side always seems like he can find a reason to smile or reason to be optimistic. And considering what they last year of his football career has been like the last year of his life dominated by rehab from a devastating hip injury, And here he is. Thrown into the fire after the Dolphins by week, making his first career NFL start. And while he does have his first career NFL fumble, say hello to Aaron Donald, you also hear his first career touchdown pass on the Dolphins radio network. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence here on CBS Sports Radio, We will look into his numbers here a little bit more about this rookie quarterback. Who they've thrown out there in place of Ryan Fitzpatrick to figure out if they have Their franchise. Q. B. You may have seen the reports that kind of sprinkling out over the last couple of weeks ever since he got the starting job, despite the fact that they were three and three in Fitzpatrick. Is a guy that really brings a lot of energy and great leadership. The reason they went to to, uh According to reports, it's because they want to know if they need to go back to the draft. And start looking at quarterbacks or to a can be the man moving forward and considering the number of times the Dolphins have been hit or miss on quarterback since, say, I don't know. Dan Marino retired. They want to make sure they've got the right guy. And so yes, there right in the mix in the A, F C and now are above 502nd place in the East Division ahead of the New England Patriots. When was the last time we said that? But they want to know if to Ah can be the face of their franchise or because they've got some high draft picks Houston being one of those right they had Houston's draft pick in 2020 and Houston's terrible Right now sitting on one win, and so it could be a really high draft pick. So they want to know is to Ah going to be the solution at quarterback, or do we need to keep looking? It's

"If you missed Dad, Prescott Instagram message. I wanted to play it for you because I am so taken by not only his spirit but his optimism and his gratefulness. I mean, what? Ah, week he's had and how painful it's been both physically and mentally, probably emotionally as well. We know what he's been through already in 2020. But instead of allowing all of us to pile on and just create this heavyweight instead, he's he's thankful to the people who supported him, and he's already talking about how he's gonna pay back that favor and support his guys in the rest of the NFL through 2020. What's up? Everyone just want everyone to know that I'm doing well on DH. I can't thank you enough for all your your love your support your prayers. Miami Dolphins looking to move the 5th pick

"I speaking of trades that seems to be one in the works among the top five picks according to Miami Herald columnist at NFL insider are mondo sell sell kero you've got the lion's that could be taking that dolphins ticket number five with the dolphins we moving up to number three well that seems likely because it's really unlikely you'll be awed the dolphins would keep both of those picks number three and number five but when he last tweeted which was not that long before we went on the air he said according to a source familiar with the lions they're planning to pick at number five as opposed to number three which is where they set in the draft order so we'll keep an eye on that of course and then we'll see what else unfolds the at the dolphins reportedly are investigating all the options whether moving up weather moving down if they're trading with Detroit with the more likely that they're leapfrogging up so that they can take the quarterback they want as opposed to waiting and seeing whether or not he fall to them at number five so kind of a defensive move
