New York - N.J. steps up to help front-line workers
"It is often said that if you want something done ask a busy person such is the case with Amy Frank Goldman she runs her own wealth management firm in New Jersey she's also home schooling her daughter currently recovering from the corona virus and just last week launched the local chapter of the front line appreciation group on Facebook where she helped raise money for men and women on the front lines of the pandemic she's here to talk about her group AB how did this begin for you I would think about what it really cross the river from New York City and we were around for nine eleven but all the started blowing up and we're watching what happens in New York City I didn't think I had to do something so I started looking around for the opportunity that kind of help the front line workers who believe that the not the front end of this but also I kept seeing all these stories about small businesses that were struggling with self you know if we were to show our appreciation for the people who are online why can't we do that by using local restaurants to to fund that goal to give some of that money back into the community out there I started a page on Facebook and it just went bananas so how does it work so basically what we do is we take a donation from the people who work during the day of the FIFA pages they are both of them on the peacock set up in those two nations are used to pay local restaurants to deliver meals to a number of different areas of the province so far would cover your rooms I see rooms in hospitals has been silent again care center others a certain hotline whether entering the coronavirus called for the town in city hall you ought to put areas will actually branching out into pharmacist store clerk so even in little league international appreciation to all the people who are out there leading up function in the new normal that we have so what's cooperation but like if you have a lot of buy in from supporters it's been incredible we have two thousand members in the group demanded money that we raise is is truly inspirational and it didn't go to do things that you know initially I thought we'd be able to provide a couple meals but now it looks like we'll be able to do that for weeks a month or south based on the money that was raised well for speak with Anne Frank golden she's the founder of the Hoboken and Jersey city New Jersey frontline appreciation group on Facebook they're raising money for health care workers so in terms of distribution do you have volunteers deliver things out of that and work with the beautiful about it so what about certain Hoboken hello they had a delivery business but for the most part eleven had done in Florida right so they can bring a lot of those restaurant into delivery only in their delivery people that work for those first on to the ones that have been facilitating the delivery and it's been kind of a fun experience because I love to share the photos of the food and preparing an offer the food in the hands of the into the front line people also the nurses the doctors they've actually receive the food in a long time some of the donors wanted me to deliver themselves and sending pictures of themselves like him to come over to the nurses station which is like a really cool thing to see you know Willie so have the health care workers responded well they probably domino's just hopes I think I think that they have a lot more variety in the lab options and that's another thing I try to make it through the week of the nutrient dense now that their job is not just mentally taxing the critical impact with while so serving them pizza and sub five need to week seven to week that's really not going to be the fact that he's a resources so I'm very specific when they speak the restaurant about what they're preparing for them making sure they're getting a good meal but you know that the end of the day it's really comes from the heart in the two people who I don't wanna call them unsung heroes but in normal times were not in the time of the pandemic or crisis of course people appreciate what they do you know what it really comes before court right now for those around the country listening who aren't familiar Jersey city and Hoboken very heavily populated areas certainly no choices of food right have you gone out on a limb and thrown something exotic at these health care workers I'm sure that we had a vegan restaurant a little bit you know what we've got everything from Italian to Thai food in Indian food coming later this week so it's definitely a lot of variety I think the one joint I so I think I saw a stat from small business owners generally speaking who say they're down to like eighty percent of business at this point under this under these restrictions because they're limited to just take out or delivery anybody say that what you're doing is helping keep them afloat and they might otherwise close account for me is that I want to be fair and sometimes give the opportunity probably have everybody's gotten Hoboken to participate before I go back to him he has already done a delivery so for being realistic you know five or six hundred on delivery you can change the bottom line over a week two weeks three weeks for a company or for a cyclical restaurant what I'm trying to do is when we were away please post operative could show the health care workers I always put the link to that restaurant in the in the polls and I think you're considering going out thing to consider this restaurant what I'm trying to bring awareness to these small business owners the people know that they're delivering other they're still out there and maybe they have a doctor orders not restaurant in awhile or maybe they had ordered the question before and so now in addition to being able to provide something for the front line we're getting a little bit of P. are the people who are helping us make that happen well that is Amy Amy Frank Goldman again head of her local chapter of the front line appreciation group on Facebook in

Charlotte really wasn't a grueling week. What's going on this week was really tough but I do feel better hit? IVF this week. You can't do after but and I've been feeling rough all week but but I feel better today and knowing I was coming to see you at you've been sharing you. This journey on social media. Yes I have been posting staples. Yeah I just thought I'll share it. Yeah because one time we posted refilling rundown pretty emotional because your hormones are all over the place that's right yet. They're still all over the place so like watch out. I mean it was really you get shot with a ton of hormones. I still have my bruises where you get the shots I mean. It's I don't want to discourage anyone but it hurts. Those shots hurt. And then you get the egg retrieval after you you know you're over his filling up with fluid. IVF guys and during this time. I saw you you posted where you were asking other people. Just send me any advice you have about it. Did you give me half ice. Well you know. It's not something that there have been some people who've been really open about it. I Know Gabrielle. Union had had people who've shared their journeys with it but I didn't really have like a big group to ask about it so I was like. Yeah I don't ask everybody get all the tips just like you guys have connect right for for ww. I used my instagram and and asked what should I know what you wish you knew and men like women were just really down to reach out and share and help me and like hold my hand through it. I love that you came in your sweats. So amy sit in the attacks earlier and said this is okay to where I go. You should wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. Yeah and you're having a stylus come over. They were GonNa do the whole thing. I got address. You got address hanging up in my closet. I said just I said it Charlotte. They're going to love you. That will change your life. Yeah the food here. It's not you don't do the point thing or anything. No I use all my points on these biscuits I was gonna say because a biscuit could take you down. Yeah now you said that this whole process is taught you to actually be more patient and kind with yourself golf. What does that look like for you? Patience and kindness showing up for yourself. I think as as women I know they're men here too and I don't want to alienate you but I think as women the AH. The expectations on us are so high to always be okay. Always look your best. Feel your but you know and and so what am I talking about. You're talking about this process of being kind to yourself kinder to myself okay. Do you know when you're talking walking. And then you look out and you're like they're truly fifteen thousand people here and Oprah. I'm like my hi. I'm not high. Yeah but I'm like I think I'm hi. It's really easy to be to feel guilty all the time especially actually now having a baby like just that self gill the self hate and it can get to meet you and and what do you say to your friends like. Give yourself the advice you give your friends love yourself like your your own mother. You know like be kind to yourself signed us you know so. It's those feelings of guilt. They're are useless and they're not real and do you have now as a new mother like are you doing it right. Do you have those am I doing it right. Yeah it's an I'm working and like I know there's just working mom vibes out in this audience. It's it's a constant. There's a constant like just cycle of of guilt and shame about it. You're like should I be he with my baby all the time like somebody else is taking care of my child right now but really what I've learned for myself as like the best thing you can do it to take care of yourself so that when you show up for your kids you are yourself. It's no question but I do. Love Love the fact that you said. Look I'M GONNA I'm GonNa do this for you and then I'm going to go right out. I'm not even GonNa say goodbye to you backstage. You believe it. I'm not GONNA say goodbye. Fight you know so. Let's just now by. It was so good seeing you. You look amazing. So thank you for plumbing Yale. Thank you your hope now. So the reason you're going through all this is so that you can have a sibling for gene. Yeah 'cause you thought just just having one would not suffice no having if you WANNA have one kid. Do you know Presh- I I think. I think my husband really wanted us to have another one because we love him so much. I think he thinks that it's creepy. You know what I mean like just obsessed you know and he thinks like you've got to have another one so that you're not you. Don't make him into like a complete Weirdo I. I'm really close with my sister and we were like we gotta try. We got to try to get a sibling and show. You had a really really difficult pregnancy. I mean not just morning sickness every day like calling me from different different states have connections calling you like your doctor. You know someone who can give me an IV in Chicago. I'm on the floor Yeah it was. I had hyper amasis which I also have endometriosis. And there's not a lot of research on these these women's issues because that's what they are there. I mean they now have chewable Viagra but they can't throw us a bone with endometriosis. Give some money to the studies for ladies also please but yeah I was so sick I was. I couldn't keep anything down. I was hospitalized four times four times like you know. Were you really afraid though during that time. Because you're thinking I'd you know I could lose this baby one in three women hypothesis lose the baby. Oh and something like fifty percent lose their jobs. You can't work it's if you've you've ever had food poisoning it's that I had that for nine and a half months because you know you're not pregnant for nine months. That is a lie. I don't know why they say nine months nine months. Then when you start doing the math and you know it's ten months at least right. I mean it really is and I heard that one of your takeaways from all of this was that women are just the warriors we are warriors. All of us. I mean for real. That is what I learned. I didn't just learn how strong I was. I really learned as a whole how strong women are and you know men are great to like. That's awesome and you guys can throw a touchdown but like can you make baby. You can make a baby with our body. Yeah yeah it's growing now. Football's grape like make a baby. It's pretty amazing when you think about it. It's amazing. Everybody remain a baby. Give yourself a high five. We'll look at y'all

Tokyo's Prime Minister of Pizza
"Amy amy welcome back to Milk Street. Thank you Chris good to be back so this is a story about neopolitan pizza in Tokyo Tokyo and so. Where does that story start. This story begins with a really cool character named soon culkeen Uma Sisu who is unlike anybody I've ever met before. He's this fifty nine sixty year old Japanese guy who doesn't look anywhere near his age probably because he's also into his rock music and he describes himself as ninety percent musician ten percent pizza master but actually chilly. If you talk to people in Tokyo he is the Prime Minister of Pizza in Tokyo. This guy single handedly brought Neapolitan oaten pizza specifically this thin crusted bubbly on the outside and very soft on the inside style of pizza to Tokyo. No one else else was making neopolitan pizza time management in my new book humidity sticking you how you hold on what I first started this pizza the restaurant twenty four years ago back then pizzas for Japanese people how this image of very thick abundant cheese a lot of festivals a lot of ingredients and the two pizzas. I'm serving today in the very beginning was met with a lot of confused looks Japanese. People didn't know that there there are pizzas that had more awesome awesome cheese so he goes to Naples to find an apprenticeship in what happens well he goes around he knocks on doors the wars of pizzerias and pizza makers all throughout Naples and no one will take him in as an apprentice. What does she put in a wha- MOCATTA new going when I went to Naples for the first time twenty five years ago this is nine hundred ninety five or talking about there were barely any Japanese people Naples so so most Italian restaurants back then we're very apprehensive to taking Japanese apprentices because there just weren't used to working with Japanese people and they thought that Japanese people couldn't Dan work with pizza so he came up with a brilliant training strategy for himself one that I would like to adopt if I were to become a pizza maker Jimmy Garoppolo economist Peter saw the muscle. I stayed in Naples for one year but I did not learn how to make pizza. I eight pizza for one year. He decided that the best way to learn how to make pizza was to eat pizza every single day for a year and that's that's what he did. I read that but I don't understand it. How did he managed to be tourist essentially eating the pizza and going back to Japan and learning how to make it in exactly the same method well. I think there are a few different ways that he did that. I mean first of all we've all. Bob Into pizzerias where you can see the pizza making going on so you can see the job being thrown how it's being tossed you can see the preparation you can time time even when the pizza goes in the oven and when it comes out so I imagine he did a lot of this just by observing and I think he tried to to stay as close to the real thing as possible and part of that too is being able to pick up the subtleties so one of the things that everyone who tries his pizza reports. It's back about is the fact that there's a little and they can tasted. Also you can see him do it. There's a little pinch of salt that he puts in the dough after it goes in the oven and if that little bit of Saltiness is there it makes it very morrish it means you want more and more and more and if that little bit of Saltiness is missing missing somehow the pizza is just lacking so he picked up on a lot of subtleties and he also readily admits he didn't come back and immediately open seren con Juvenile Pizzas Kuneva on ninety dollars yeah good junior. It took me a a very long time to correct
Should I Stay or Should I go? - Amy Volas
"You're listening to the daily sales tips podcast. I'm your host Scott Ingram. Today's tip comes from amy. Amy is a sales sales. Fanatic turned entrepreneur bitten by the startup bug many moons ago and couldn't imagine spending her time anywhere else she created avenue talent partners owners to help with the tremendous task of growing startups through one of their most valuable assets sales people when she's not working. She's spending time with her cat dog dog and husband in that order. She jokes now. Amy and I did something a little bit interesting here and I'd love your feedback on this. I asked amy about a dozen questions over the course of about forty five minutes that will feature at a pace of about one a month here on the podcast. Here's her first one so the question Shenice. Should I stay. Should I go in. What do I really need to think about before I make a move in so I'm a big fan the of leveraging perspective right so unless you this is your very first job ever it's hard to have ABC perspective but the world that I live in tends to be more on the experience side and I challenge people to do the hard work on themselves of being thoughtful of think about all the things that you've done or the different kinds of roles that you've had or the different companies that you've been a part of or the different leaders is that you've worked for and when you think about how you describe that I recommend that people take a little notebook with themselves so I'm old school with paper in Penn but there are others that have apps for these things when you're talking to a colleague. Your boss your mentor your current boss your husband your wife your friend your partner whoever it might be your colleague when you talk about what makes you happy end what challenges you in what don't you like all of that carries a weight and so I suggest before anybody make the decision of staying or going that they do their own diagnostic pastathon themselves of taking account of when you've been the happiest without looks like all those things that I just rattled off and comparing and contrasting lasting because the grass is always greener on the other side and we live in this world where people make really quick decisions because the economy so good and they make a quick move and then they regret it and so before you confirm or deny whether it's the time to leave or it's not the time to leave. I think you need to understand the the current situation is it's situational. Can it be fixed. Is it just a bad day. Is it just a bad month for those of sales. We have bad quarters. Sometimes sometimes people have bad months bad days in so it can be difficult to see the fourth through those trees I think being respectful respectful and true and honest with ourselves of knowing all of that and putting it through your own internal scorecard and being able to see while way I'm just having a bad month or we're in transition period and there are a lot of things that I don't know but it's not worth it for me to leave yet or you know we've been through all these changes is and I have a new manager and they're a beast and they make my life miserable and it's been six months and I haven't made the money that you know. I've been told that I would make and Mike customers are unhappy and there is no way that I can fix this. I've tried a nothing's working well then that might be time to go. Oh but I think you owe it to yourself to go through that I so what do you think about this. QNA style format does it work. What questions do you have feel free to leave. "Will calculate all that. But I. I like Amy Amy Amy bring something everybody brings something a table. That's not in any way to diminish. Sure. She brings something table a little different from a little different and differently from the others perhaps because of where she's from she's had a lot of electoral success in a state. I don't really come in sodas the swing state because it's gone with the democratic democrat, president more. I think more than any state in the country in the last. But they didn't let so I I just don't think Minnesota's the swing state. We lose. We didn't get it was almost as stadium. We lost. So okay. But but I think she brings something me. She's a mid westerner. She's clearly has a mid western or about her, and she can bring a strength that that others might have others bring, you know, others that are more progressive on on their in their demeanor and their. Language, bring something else. So I I'm not I'm not going to go over. It's not going to go over in our calculations on this person this person this person this for scientists going to win win win. The time comes in. We've kind of digested all this. And I'm not I mean, don't don't mistake, my deliberative nece for weakness or or reluctance, it really is a deliberative process in my mind because I never thought I would be doing this. And to one of the leader of the free world is a lot of self examination and talking to family and talking to friends and thinking this through and imagining yourself in that job, and all the things that you need to do if you're going to step up, and as I said, I only started that process in November not fourteen Novembers ago. And so I just don't know Jen vendredi from post. Right..

The last thing they want is a restitution of the rule of law, and they'll do anything and everything to block that from occurring as I've also mentioned if you don't watch YouTube, so I put a YouTube up every Tuesday morning, it's on YouTube. It's free. It's on the operation freedom channel, I encourage you to go there. This one was a little longer because I had a lot to discuss what the cavenaugh issues and the like, but I likened it to a series of dominoes. The first domino was Cavanaugh. Being appointed this cream court now look. When Cavanaugh was first appointed. I told you that I was. I wish somebody else had been appointed Amy Amy Amy Amy Barrett. Is who I really thought was a perfect choice for Trump. But he chose cabinet and one of my main concerns about Cavanaugh is he there were some issues when came to the fourth amendment believes Sandra emailed me earlier today. Speaking about this. And I believe she's right? He's a little he's squishy on the fourth amendment or has been in some of his decisions, and I was very concerned about his relationship with the bushes. His wife, I believe was administrative assistant, George Bush. He was involved in the White House was an attorney to Bush. I was very concerned because I truly believe, and I know that the bushes and the Clintons and the Obamas. I I all feed at the trough of the globalist syndicate. And I was very concerned about cavenaugh. Now, one of the. One of the benefits silver lining. If you will of watching what transpired over the past month. Was that I believe it actually transformed Cavanaugh. I believe any allegiance or alliance. He had with the bushes. I don't think I'd blown away on the other hand. I believe he became. More of a team player when it comes to what Trump is trying to do with the restoration of the rule of law. And restoration. If you will of a society that Jetsons the deep state. I believe cavenaugh knows where his bread is buttered. His bread is bread is now buttered by the freedom movement. And I truly believe the silver lining out of this cloud was that he realized that the syndicate of which the bushes and the Clintons the Obamas. They were all playing against him, in fact in all he had to do was look at who is sitting behind blaze in next to blazey Ford. Now, look do I believe blazey Ford was. That's that's my calling in life. I I understand that. But I mean when I was late the only problem with that. I just I left my keys in my house. It wasn't it wasn't that big of a deal. I don't understand why worthy of a song. Because wreck it was obvious that it wasn't just about your keys. Then what was it? I mean, the reality of the situation is that when you got there, and you were finally sitting down you didn't let it go. Your mind may have been focused on the keys, but I could tell that they're much bigger underlying issues that deserve exploration wreck. Inner child get his keys back. Rick. I mean, maybe you're right. I'm I haven't really thought about it like that. Yeah. Child, and you who can't find his keys, and you're too focused on finding the adults keys. What's going on? This is not a therapy session. You know, I think he's joking. But at the same time, he has a really good point, Greg. That's that's why I sing to you. I mean, I'm to be honest. I don't know where to go with this. Should I like go on another date or should just seek out therapy or? Free life. Now, Rick, I think you go out on another date, and then maybe she can refer you to somebody else. Would you like to go out with Amy on a second date? We'll pay for it. And she did bring up some good points about the keys to how get very stressed out really easily. And actually, it makes me think a lot more in. I had I think I would like to continue that conversation. So. Yeah. Surprising second date. Well, I think we need to figure out if this is going to be a date, or if this is going to be a session because I can't actually mix my professional and personal lives in that way. So if you're looking for for help and not a hand gun ship than I than I am going to have to charge. You. The first date, you're mixing all over the place. Now, I need to know is this is this wreck wanting to seek another therapy session, or is he actually looking for something romantic. Rick. We needed to clarify. Do you want more counseling with Amy or do you want to go on a date with Amy? More helpful thing for me would just be therapy. Sexual thing. Okay. So wreck I think he's made the right choice. Of course. You do Rick. We all support you in your position. So I guess here's the thing that we do pay for a second date update. I'm sorry. I can't pay for counseling sessions with Amy.
