"Park and the funny thing in i don't know they have a minimum parked in alabama. But it was an alabama and the hotel resembles where i stayed with a beautiful. Tell the ones that. I stayed for podcast movement. All these nice attractions and everything like that. And an amusement park with five. I met this beautiful woman and she tied to me as well. And let's just say we within untouchable okay. We couldn't we couldn't leave each other. You know we'd hold the hand everything off ever meant that i missed and then i guess you might have told her father. We'll call the father. Mitch mcconnell because there was one one lady that i will relationship with the modern light. Me even though The daughter did so. We'll call the fodder mitch mcconnell because either evil but otherwise later on in the dream well first of all the other half of the dream. I live in a hotel. I i'll give it a go back to where i was joining and leaving the hotel and i probably should add if i could let the key in room. I was getting ready to check out. And then they less and they were going to get the closing cartons out. What about the down. But then i went back to the lady. That lights me towels okay. And fatah had one guy and he looked killed the wealthy guy and then the lady was so far i told the lady to make the for for him just like she did for me and then i guess another two people i guess would both my advocates said said whatever the guy kept repeated. The name kept repeating data died name and they told me i guess we lost and i woke up and i don't know the girl didn't like it or not but she looked at on skew me. She looked unhappy. And by the way. "I hold onto things longer than i should one afternoon. I was hit while going south on i five. Two cars crashed into me with such force. I thought my spirit had slammed out my skeleton. Then the world grew small and quiet. My hand shook my heart beat. My breath returned. I was okay. The santa fe had withstood the hit and kept me safe no. Ptsd no fear of getting back on the horse. If it happened again she keeps me safe then. To there's an amusement park in our south of seattle and if you set yourself the task of writing every ride you can wear yourself out pretty well on a summer day. I drove three friends there and we did exactly that re- road the ride that loops around and around. We gave the roller coaster. Six chances to impress us. I think there was a spinning octopus ride. But i can't exactly remember. At the end of the day. I was exhausted and hungry but filled with noble purpose. It was up to me in the santa fe to get everyone home safely. I played the radio softly as i drove in the rear view mirror. I watched as one of my friends. A particular boy began sinking into a deep sleep peaceful. happy unafraid. It was a long time before the santa fe had a name mostly because i suck at naming things one night i was talking to the boy on. Aol instant messenger and he let the phrase drop sarah's arctic wolf it stuck. She was strong but lean filled with determination her co damaged and dirty with patches of silver that peek. Through after the rain. I never really watched her. The santa fe was definitely an arctic wolf. I took her out of town for a weekend and she broke down on the way back. It wasn't her fault. I hadn't been super clear on how often a timing belt needs to be replaced. The tow truck took hours to get there and because there wasn't much happening on that stretch of i ninety bathroom wise. I ended up having to pee in the woods. The ping detail doesn't flow well with the overall narrative the story but it seemed interesting enough to mention. The breakdown was followed by math. Would it be more effective to just invest in a new used car or should i replace the arctic wolves engine. I'm still not sure which option would have been cheaper. But i pretended it was the latter early one morning. I had an accident in my apartment involving some head trauma and a few inexplicable side effects. I was scared. But i did. What i've always done. Pushed the pain aside and drove to work all my life despite injuries or sickness. I've always gone to work. It's what my job's required. This time i was only a few months into a new office job when my workers saw i wasn't well they insisted i leave for the day and seek treatment. One offered to drive me home in the arctic wolf..

"The weird heat. He spoke weird in the question again. The the extra audio thing you said was in the cinema sense around. Was that in spite by william castle. Probably was in some way They used it for a few movies. Was a gimmick that faded They used it in. Like i think earthquake was another disaster film. The isn't and actually the theatrical release of the pilot for battle star galactica. Had it interesting which is kind of strange but basically it was just a very low frequency rumble. You couldn't hear audibly shake the seats and in some theaters that actually caused plaster to fall off the walls so it didn't last very long. that does sound. Very william costly. yes The man behind the tingler and a few other Also Mr sardonicus with his punishment. Poll that's a whole other story. We'll get we'll we'll talk about that at some other point. But yeah william castle. The master of the gimmick bubis were bad but the gimmicks were great. You know if he won a little bit of fun fact. I don't exactly how fun it is. Turns out that rollercoasters have been Been a little bit dangerous. And say i came out. Young man with a man turns out. It is still considered one of the worst Deadliest amusement park accidents in nineteen thirty eight in omaha. A the big dipper roller coaster sell thirty five feet to the ground. It eliminated for people and injured. Seventeen zip right. Dip roller coasters are one of those things i just. I've only been on one. And i don't ever want to go on another one it was. It's the white one at the beach. I don't know if they still have more at salisbury. Was the white wooden roller coaster. All the wooden roller coaster the best because they rock rock as and that's on purpose territory. Oh jeez oh by the way yet. There's that other roller coaster. An accident. that happened in the nineteen thirties. Of the hindenburg was at a roller coaster correct decade but not the same nevermind berkman. That went up a gas humanity. So my second pick isn't necessarily super obscure but the greatest part about it. And i didn't notice until i started researching as it is streaming absolutely everywhere right now. Please jose park because that would be so obvious. I mean i wasn't going to that. It is part of my honorable. Mentions though so. Thank you for the spoiler. All right then okay. Services worldwide count. More is was done. Well that's exactly. That was actually a working amusement park bucks but as anybody who knows me i will recommend any drastic park for any reason for any genre for any reason at all. So that's probably just a given. This is true this is true. No no no my my second pick in my favorite movies of all time beverly hills cop three and here way.

"Six flags okay. And they actually they shot in the park and there was an actual brand. New roller coaster called the revolution. It was a the first steel. Looping coaster ever terrifying. Yeah and you know you think about this today. What theme park would allow to happen. You know oh yeah sure. Bring your movie about a bomber. Who's going to blow up a roller coaster into park. You can use the real name of the park. You can use the real name of the rollercoaster. We don't care we just want publicity. You would never have that happened today. Yeah that'd be like oh no no. You can't do that. We don't want that kind of exposure. They you know back in the seventies nobody cared seventies. Yeah so you know but they they let it happen Now the rest of the cast. Besides george segal is also good. You've got some legendary actors kind of at the tail. End of their careers in henry fonda. Richard mark you've got a teenage. Helen hunt was the first movie role. Interesting as he was George eagles daughter in the movie. Now this is not i mean. It's kind of a disaster movie but it really is more of a suspense film it. It's a much more hitchcock like speed. Yeah and it and the music is very hitchcock and adds to the suspense but it is a very very suspenseful movie now. If none of these things were true and the movie was a total dog it wouldn't matter because would still be great for one simple reason it features performances by the greatest band. Most people have never heard of stepping. Sparks i i figured you probably would know sparks now. If you don't know sparks there actually is a new documentary. That just came out On a prime tunes and prime video called the sparks brothers. it's wrecked by edgar wright who did Lot of the scott pilgrim vs the world. He did baby driver. He did hot. Fuzzy dijana the dead This documentary this is. This is an american band. Two guys who made it big in england but never really quite cracked it here in the us and they have been around for so long. They're still making music today. Sparks sparks. They perform a couple of songs in this movie. While they're tracking down the killers like inbetween them trying to track down the bomber. You see footage of sparks playing at the amusement park playing concerts currently kind of a nice venture. There you go. it's it's so good and it's just like and i had no idea you know. This is the first time you know. I'm a kid. I saw this band. Who are these people. And i've been sparks fan ever since so. That's the only if the watch of another reason. Why i guess you could say it sparked something in you know. You couldn't say that at all. I don't know why you would anyway. This spoke joy. Yes sparks joy. That sounds that sounds weird darkness. Yeah the yeah. I think i love you. Covered zones really reached. I wanna say reached number one in the us in england. But that's how i know who spokes. Because they did a cover of this they go yeah. They were very popular for a while in the uk. They had some hits They didn't really have too many hits here there are a few. Do yourself a favor if you have spotify or apple music or whatever you got. Checkout sparks Their catalog is massive. And really good. So you know sparks. Yeah check it out now for the movie scores. We've got six point. Three out of ten. On the internet movie database and a criminally low fifty. Three percent on rotten tomatoes sadly. Now this one is also hard to find online for some reason. I it is however as of this recording on youtube for free you.

Mapped CEO Wants to Simplify IoT Device Integrations

"During my time at cisco i very quickly realized that It was different from every other business. At cisco it was probably my third or fourth conversation After it come into the iot team where the customer looked at us and said have any of you actually been to oilrig. We sort of Looked around the room and nobody can say yes and so it led to lead the four years of really just visiting any customer could whether it was a manufacturing floor you know the roof of the building or the sub basement building going behind the scenes at an amusement park or you know into an oil refinery or out on an oil rig. I just wanted to feel the pain that the customer was going through and and really understand it. Firsthand and those sorts of of of discovery trips led to a repeated pattern that i kept seeing over again. You know i would get on on stage for various cisco events in say things like you know. Gartner predicts that there will be twenty five billion connected devices by twenty twenty five And then the next year it would drop to twenty two billion in the next to dropped a twenty billion and that mix of sort of the the numbers continuing to down into a right plus what. I was observing customers. Which was they would do a pilot in one of their environments and that pilot would take them a year to build and deploy and then they would go to move that pilot the next environment factory across the street or the refinery on the other side of the country and it turns out that all the work they had done for integration. All the work they had done to extract data out of those systems and bring it into the dashboards and the analytics they were trying to put together a had to be done again. It had to be done from scratch because that factory across the street or the refinery on the other side of the of the country had no sort of commonality with the systems that were in the first one where they built the pilot and again this was just a side effect of the various system. Integrators using whatever was the best set of tools at the time this pain of immigration plus the the the sort of droppings predictions of connected devices or iot devices. Them really got me thinking about what is the biggest problem that we have an iot or digitisation and the problem is that as we try to bring together all these devices in order to come up with transformative insights that complex relationships among the devices are aware that that transformative insect comes from and to do that. You have to deeply integrate with these systems. So if we can free up the industry from having to do all the integration manually and we can automate across the seas of of doing integration and sort of reverse engineering what humans had built in the first place. Then we can really start to open this industry at scale and allowed developers who may have never set foot on a factory or have never gone into a refinery to really start to build applications by just purely looking at data and starting to figure out ways to make sense of data rather than spending all their time on integration.

"But in those two ride you can do it and when i say we did it. I was a rule. Follower terrified terrified of getting in trouble. So i would watch them every time because we went on that right those rights several times in the watch them run through neverland without a care in the world like lost boys. I was gonna ask you how you figured out that. Some of the cameras like obviously this is like a trial and everything. Yes you could do it mister toad was golden. Because nobody cared but yeah couldn't do it in a haunted mansion time. I visited in nineteen ninety five. I do not think that was still true for me. I think my favorite amusement park experience now is going in as amusement park dad and each each of those words should be up caps. I'm now amusement park dad so my role is to like get the family on like the tram that just glides you around hershey park and then to tell my kids that this is secretly a ride called the devastator any moment we would be plunging into a giant hit and so like like about the fourteenth or fifteenth time that i yelled the words the devastator. I truly crossed over into being what happens nowadays with cell phones and log flames because there were some rides back in the day. Where you're gonna get wet now. If you get wet you are out to think.

"To but my favorite thing was always that interaction between the hapless kid who had to do the thing and this also was on the safari if you go on the safari in disneyworld. It's the same thing where they're just reading from the script berry listlessly unless you get the gay kid the gay kids into you want. The kid says will give you an experience. Can't really request that specific Epcot is horrible. epcot is boring. If you go there sixteen. I haven't been back because it was homework. The rod was talk. Let's take all the thrilling adventure of social studies film strip. Put it into you. Walk around it. It was awful. Wow all right. My theme park experience tends to revolve around town in wisconsin. Perhaps you know we're going with this. Wisconsin del and wisconsin dells tries to fit kind of every sort of theme park experience into this one little obviously very touristy town and it's a town that mostly shuts down in the in the brutal wisconsin winter months. They've more recently added like year round. Amusement parks situated within hotels like complete with gigantic water slides. Which if you don't think about the massive waste of resources is for me. The perfect full amusement park experience. Because you have the water slides and the without the horrible horrible sun beating down enemy if it's literally like two degrees outside and you get to go on a water slide. It's pretty neat. But in wisconsin. Dells wisconsin dells. Also has these wonderfully c and d and easy list attractions. Some of which may or may not still be there. I know they've closed xanadu. House of the future like tommy bartlett's robot world if there's a crumbling attraction and downtown they sell taffy i am in so i love the more kind of crude crude like filthy sense of humor but like just the more run down an amusement park is the happier. I am the smaller. It is the happier. I am the more they sell funnel cakes and like deep fried oreo cookies like deep fried butter somehow find a way to deep fry butter. They sprinkle powdered sugar on it. And you walk around games of chance. I enjoy being around games of chance. I enjoy if you can win a mirror and it has a band and the band rat is on the mirror. I am happy. Like i think one of the reasons for that. I actually did a actually did a column the music advice. Column the good listener. Somebody wrote into ask. Why has the music at amusement park remained unchanged for thirty years. Why do i. Why do i go to an amusement park and i hear the same. Reo speedwagon song. That i heard at the amusement park thirty years ago. And i theorized and i feel this way. I think about amusement parks general that they do that. Because that's your youth. That's what the the amusement park is. Therefore it is there to provide sense memories from your youth to make you feel young again so that you share your youth with your kids who don't know from reo speedwagon so it doesn't matter to them and i think there's something to that and i think there's something to why gravitate to what i gravitate to. My parents took me when i was like four to disney land and also universal studios lot. They had some like media passes or something to like an early launch of the jaws ride and we hadn't seen jaws yet. At least. I mean i certainly hadn't my maybe my parents had but my father had me sit on his knee in my memory. I'm dangling over the side that. I'm sure that i'm inside the ride safely. But of course the jaws ride entails going through like a bog all of a sudden a giant animatronic shark leaps out and snaps at your four year old. Self scaring the crap out of you and making you scared of sharks to this day. So so i don't necessarily have the fond warm sense memories about four year old stephen going to universal studios but i have lots of fun memories as a teenager going to like dumb ass corn roasts and carnivals and getting deep fried cheese. Well i figured this topic would be a kind of loose and define and that we would all at some point. Share a childhood traumas for senior week. East high school went to great adventure. And it's just the entire senior class. We're there in the ride and everybody's going on the buccaneer. Do you know the buccaneer ship that goes with that ring goes back and forth on a big parabola. And then when when you have high school snot nosed teens literally snot nosed. I think the exact where this is going goes up so that the people on the bow are in the bottom right directly underneath the people on the stern voice. You're the right. Should then be just called spit and pennies. Because cindy who's an unending. It was like something out of chorale. Awful so yes. I don't have fun. That that's why that's why i like to tiki room where you go and sit and watch puppets c. c. And i can. I can get down with more the sitting around watching like i still love going to chucky cheese long. Cast my kids. Being tired of chucky cheese because i could sit and watch animatronic robots all and i went to epcot when when it had just opened and i was a kid so i couldn't drink the thing i like about epcot in theory anyway. It's like this little pressure valve for ugly americans where we can pretend. There's this one section where you go around the water and you just hit little different countries and you can drink and all those countries and you can be a belligerent drunk loud american but not in front of actual people in other countries just in front of floridians so so i think that that's good. It's a little thing that we've given ourselves to allow ourselves to be jerks. This pre cattaneo or yes. It was pre- captain eo. Okay didn't see that that margaret. You mentioned mr toads wild ride. I love that when we were knows. Punks at sixteen We go into mr toads wild ride and you could get out of the car and walk around mr toads land of whimsy in peter pan's flight enters neverland and your gondola goes up against the wall where there was a platform with steps leading down. You can get out of that. Go down into neverland run through it and then on the other side of the room get back up the stairs onto another platform. Get back in your chair. You couldn't do that in a haunted mentioned because there were cameras everywhere.

"What do you make of that. I pretty cool. That sounds pretty. Damn cool man. I like to i agree. That sounds definitely chanting so yes so the capture that then they go on to do the more investigation whatever. It's so interesting that they're talking about the land and they find out you know it's it was previous native american land on stuff and it's all about maybe like a curse in the land and they bring up another curse the curse of chief corn stock from point pleasant west virginia and they mentioned that the curse of chief corn stock might have had something to do with two plane crashes a toxic chemical spill in the fairmont coal company disaster in the area but they make no mention whatsoever of the bridge collapsed. Norm othman at all. That's just wrong. It is because i. I've there've been a couple documentaries. Who convention that press. Mothman was part of the chief cornstarch curse you know so why not bring it up. I don't know man. 'cause we shall i guess exactly discovery dun dun jacked it up. We need to take over discovery and run that show. Yeah it's not discovery more. Just all go shit. So then they decided to activate the land in activate And say by bringing jump house in some carnival games on land and having to go sort of create. What do you know what you mean. What they call james that whenever they recreate the noise and the energy of an area what are they had a special name for. It was recreate noise. Yeah like they would like in like a big band house. They have a ban going to get the music going to help. Sort of like all like other words they go back and they try to repeat trigger trigger objects. There you go to. Yeah yes they do that with the carnival games they but the problem with this is again. It's episode each episode was two locations. So this is this episode. The shawnee park was only the first of two so They only gave twenty five minutes of the show And i'm sure they didn't have enough time but they bring in. This car will start to activate lend the try and contact the two kids that were killed at carnival however my problem with this that they completely ignore to klay children. That were killed way before that. So the knowing that. But as i said i couldn't find any any new stories about the kids that were killed to park but the claim massacre is historic fact and the two kids killed on the land. Historical facts will they could have also done a trigger experiments to try and reach out to Bartley and tabitha completely ignore any of that didn't even talk about the family massacre bastards. Well get an. It's it's it is what it is but they don't the they do end up capturing another ep of what's called the battlecry in here that right now in the same general vicinity just before the ep. You'll hear us talking about the carnival that is battlecry pretty clear battlecry kind of a sound whatever it is. It's angry so that you hear that. That cry at the in their hell. Yeah man down. Yeah so that's what they capture and that's pretty much it for the episode The other shows most terrifying. Don't really having investigations or recounting what we did basically just the massacre as well as the carnival. Other the the the rise in whatever's there's no investigation. There's no evidence to play. We haven't so. That is the story of the klay massacre and the little shawnee amusement park when it's still still there. The roger still there so again when we take this fantastic fucking field trip we've talking about. We've got to go in investigate the little johnny park. Yep we gotta make list all this stuff and check it out. Absolutely absolutely yeah. That was a pretty cool story. I had never heard of the park. it looks like a cool place from the pictures. It looks creepy as hell. So you know. I'm looking forward to eventually out there. Now yeah may creepy is good man creepy. Yeah so guys. I hope you enjoyed the episode Looking forward to wisconsin next week. Got some fun plan for that in the meantime. What can they do to support us james. Well my friend. "Smell snyder night at night you know. When when connie tease out bought land and began wreck in an amusement park nine knew nothing about the bloody history. The land and built a swing. Set i will race. Track session stands. Dancehall cabin for overnight stays and open up the pawn on the land for swimming. There's a lake right nearby but the lake has always been closed for swimmers. The park became a popular attraction for coal mining families in the area and soon it was filled with laughter of children however it seemed that the land wasn't done with taking lives not long after the park opened the deaths begin in all six people died before snide out close the park. Just probably faulty rides. Shit we'll we'll find out but with that let's take a break. Yes sir her leg kitties the night. Come and join me. More host deadly as we go through my creepy files and listened to real live strange but true stories from people all over the world explorer. The weird and wonderful in my weekly podcast with deadly daddy's creepy five. The deaths included a boy whose mother left her son at the park in the morning. Planned to return later. Pick up however when she returned he was found after a search ground. His body was found floating in the swimming pool. He had drowned. There was also a boy who drowned in lake. even though swimming wasn't allowed and lake signal to hell who's looking at where parents they drop them off intake later. That's i guess so. Yeah it's I remember getting dropped off at places like that. I did too. I wasn't dumbing up to draw. The pool was quickly and quietly filled up with sand and no one spoke with the death. Then in one thousand nine hundred sixty six little girl in the pink ruffled dress met her end after climbing into the singing circling sets while on the ryder truck. Back into the path of the swing as a swing. Move forward and killed her. The park was closed in nineteen sixty seven after he failed. Health inspections of all the rides are killing people. But this hotdog stand is filthy closing down. She sees i guess the The sauce stick health. Nah apparently not allies above funnel cakes all screwed up corum. The rides are perfectly healthy. Just not the hot dog on a stick. I guess me. The right sat there rusting in the wind. Vines untamed grasses growing around him flash for eighteen years later a former employee of the park gaylord white purchasing land and park with plans to reopen. The original rides had all been sold off when the park closed. The white decided that the swings and fares were important to the park. They purchase a ferris will at a set of swings new jersey. When he ran the numbers they found that what they had was the original swings from the park with the core. The rise in place. The whites addison smaller kiddie rides paddleboats bumper boats and a stage entertainment on the fourth of july weekend in nineteen seven. The whites headbands playing twenty four hours a day and with an admission of just one dollar. He said he thinks they saw close to ten thousand people. After three years though skyrocketing insurance rates forced the closure the amusement park and the whites began holding fishing tournaments and other events to keep the property active however while working at the section of the land in early nineteen ninety s. The bulldozer working in that section started digging up airheads pottery in huts but no bone work stopped in white had a team for marshall. You come down and work on tracked. Their work uncovered the native american graveyard digging up. Some three thousand bodies buried their holy crap. So this is very much like the poltergeist. Yes it is indeed in the mid to late. Nineteen ninety s gaylord. His wife jewel and their son gaylord junior. Who passed away. Twenty thirteen began offering campfire stories. "amusement park" Discussed on State of Fear Podcast

"Today's topic is on the clay massacre in little shawnee amusement park. I hadn't heard of this amusement park but apparently it's really small Rundown hark the was open for short time well probably a couple of decades or so but apparently had a couple of deaths on site and supposedly the haunting sounds of the park. Are those debts But we'll get into that later It's been on man like four three or four different shows including ghost lab with clean brothers We'll hear from them in a bit later we into the actual part but first we're going to discuss the klay massacre so mitchell klay moved onto one hundred three acres of land with his wife and fourteen. Fourteen here you. I say boy fourteen children in what was the seventy seventy five as well. Esther there's no tv. No radio no podcast. Nothing now doc. Dark rooms and lots of love going on the museum. Yes sir now. This plot of land that he moved onto was in the western section of virginia. Because at the time was virginia was just virginia. West virginia didn't become west virginia until eighteen. Sixty three so technically. It was virginia but it was in the section that would become virginia which is why still be included today store now. The family began to cultivate and live off the land and for the next eight years. They prospered through a mixture of livestock tobacco. We an orchard and a kitchen garden in august of seventeen eighty three. The clays wanted to build a fence around a recently harvested grain stacks in order to keep his cattle from accessing him while it was out in the field or while they were out maliciously so michael tasks his sons bartlett and ezekiel or he went off hunting for the day as bartlett. Zeki were busy building the fence. Their sisters were at a riverbank doing the family washing while their mother and younger siblings were at home doing housework. Unbeknownst all of them a small group of marauding shawny indians were making their way towards their land. They i reach bartley. Clay shot dead instantly the shot echo through the area reaching the girls down at the bank. Who immediately took off for home in their path led them to write where young barley lay debt. They ran into southern chinese indians. And one of the older girls tabitha watched as one of the shawnee attempted to scalp bartley damn being a rough frontier bad ass. She leapt into action in attack. Shawnee indian reaching reaching for his knife. Unfortunately she was or powered and stabbed to death. They were both scout. Damn yeah while all this is very gutsy. Oh yeah yeah absolutely well all this going down. Mrs klay watched helplessly from her house at the same time. A piece of shit named lincoln blankenship came the call on the clay house. Mrs clayton begged blankenship. Jump in shoot at the attackers and help save her daughter. Tabitha's life unaware that blankenship would be the prototype for the cowardly lion. He turned tail and fled to the nearest town of new river to report. The attacks on the clay history has not looked fondly on him since then. He's a puckett coward. It's punky now. He is pumped bitch. Yep he's definitely on bitch. I know pump bitch he's bondage. Meanwhile ezekiel was captured and taking his prisoner in the attackers fled into the woods. Now mrs klay also being a bad ass. Frontiers woman managed to bring the bodies of barclays habit. The into the house and laid them on a bed and despite being completely distraught gathered up her remaining children in rush them. All six miles away to the neighbor's home of james bailey to get help six miles six miles man man. Then were the days i mean. Yeah it's bad. it's bad when when you know critical things happen but that kind of spacing out nowadays because you're looking for that'd be desirable. Yeah that's exactly what i'm looking for. Mr klay eventually made it home and discovered his worst nightmare on scene is to children's bodies and no one else around. He assumed they'd all been captured in this homestead and headed to new river for help he managed to make it to new river the next morning and reached captain mark matthew farley captain farley gathered a posse together men including mitchell clay charles clay mitchell klay junior james bailey william wiley edward hale joseph hair. Is cole. john french. In captain james more the group went up to the klay residents to bury the to klay children. Gather clues and plan the next move now from what the hell wants to shawnee left. Shawny broke into two groups. One went down the west fork of the coal river over cherry pound pond. Mountain in the other group went down the pond fork of the river that went down the other side mount. The posse decided to follow the group that went down the pond. Route the pond fork. They caught up some at night position themselves. Both above and below the group on the hill. They and they waited until dawn to attack when morning broke one of the early rising shawny spotted edward and before he could warn the others and wood fired and shot the native dead however the gunfire awoke the rest of the group now in the chaos that followed two of the shawnee were killed in the final one wounded. The remaining native is said to have begged for his life. However of upon finding that ezekiel was not with the group and remembering what happened to his siblings. Twelve year old. Charles clay killed the survivor. A gallon kill my kill. My name is charles. Clay you killed. My brother prepares today prepared to die. That's right since the posse chose the wrong group detract bill. The group that had ezekiel made it all the way to chillicothe the ohio. Holy shit yeah Longer yeah they screwed the pooch. Oh let me tell you. They did because once they got there. They tortured ezekiel and then burnt them at the stake. Oh man was zeke. it'd be. I'd i'd be pissed. I will come back and haunt every member of my family that loosely relentlessly now the to klay children were just the latest to be buried on land. According to lower the land was once the site of a large native american settlement and burial ground thrive far before european settlers as many as three thousand native americans are thought to have been buried under the park. The land sits empty for the better part of one hundred years until the nineteen twenties. When conley t snot out. Not.

"The with kevin mason the entire world is trying to open back up from covid. Nineteen and i was reading a story. The other day on the internet about california amusement parks. One of the things. They're trying to do. Is they reopened. Amusement parks like disneyland is to set up guidelines for rules for going back to amusement parks. And of course in those guidelines. You're going to wear a mask and be separated from people. They won't allow rights to be jam packed but they're also adding the caveat of no screaming. I've often wondered when people ride. Roller coasters do people scream on purpose. Some do some yellen shout because that's the thing to do. They raise their hands those kinds of things but for other people screaming on a roller coaster maybe involuntary. They're going to be some strange things. I have a feeling have to deal with thanks to cove in nineteen. We're not gonna like people talk about having their rights infringed even more and it's going to be a little peculiar things like that. I haven't been to an amusement park in years. And i'll be honest with you. I don't know if i ever screamed. When i wrote any of the rides but something kinda strange to think about you get in trouble for doing something involuntary. I know that's kind of scary. And that's not the point but still.

Pablo Escobar's Hippos Are Out of Control

"A couple of years ago. I read a novella called river of teeth by sarah gaily. The concept of the story is based on a real world event. That almost happened smack. In the early twentieth century a bill was proposed in the us house of representatives and informally supported by theodore roosevelt. The us should import hippopotamuses from africa to the swamp lands of the gulf coast and breed them as an alternative meat source for americans basically starting a new industry in the us of hill. Ranching as you know this proposal never came to be but gala novella now collected into a volume with a sequel and some other stories under the title american hippo imagines magic in alternative history where this did happen only set fifty years earlier. You get kind of gulf coast cowboys on hippos tape story. It's great loved it. I highly recommend it. Or if you just wanna dig more into the facts. I put link in the show notes to a long read on the history of the hippo proposal by john. Mouallem will the reason i bring. This up is because americans in the early twentieth century. Were not the only ones with dreams of becoming hbo ranchers decades later pablo escobar would also get into the hippo game importing four of them to live on his estate in columbia and now forty some years later they have bread and multiplied and are spreading all over the wetlands of north bogo. Talk causing mayhem. Consternation and some real concerns for the region. Scientists say this now invasive species is competing with native wildlife polluting local waterways attacking humans and they project will grow in number two fifteen hundred hippos by twenty forty at that point the scientists say they will be nearly impossible to control their environmental impacts will be irreversible but never mind controlling fifteen hundred hippos. How do you control a dozen or even just one. That's not like you can just google it you know. In colombian officials are not hippopotamus experts and there are unique challenges levied upon this specific situation. I quoting the washington post in their natural habitat. Hippos spend the long dry season crowded into waterways shrunk to puddles. They're vulnerable to disease and predation not to mention one. Another as bad tempers but tropical columbia is hippo paradise. Environmental agency researcher david vary lopez said rain is abundant food is plentiful and they're no carnivores large enough to pose a threat. The animals spend five hours a day grazing on grasses and the rest of their time basking in the cool waters of the magdalena and surrounding lakes and quotes report from columbia not being the hippos natural habitat having in effect on the hippos behavior it also affects the surrounding communities impression of the hippos. The officials tasked with dismantling escobar's estate back in the ninety s. Weren't sure what to do with the one male and three female hippos so they just let them roam instead of sending them to a zoo with his other animals and mostly they did that because the hippos were massive and aggressive no one really wanted to approach them so we'll get the harm be and letting them go well. Kenyans and other african communities with native hippo populations could tell you a whole heck of a lot. You've got hippos from each sex so they can breathe for one and they're also hugely destructive to the environment into other animals. Hippos killed more humans each year than other large mammal. But when you don't grow up around hippos you don't necessarily know that so the hippos have become something of a mascot and columbia. According again gift shops in nearby puerto trail info sell hippo keychains and t shirts at the amusement park that was built on the site of escobar's former pleasure palace. Visitors can tour the lake where several dozen hippos now live occasionally one will plot into a nearby community looking as blase as a shopper on his way to the grocery store the hippopotamuses. The town pets resident claudia. Patricia camacho told the local news in two thousand eighteen. You could say that he now takes to the streets as if it were his own and quote but the hippos aren't as friendly as they may look on t shirts. They terrorize farms and hurt residents at times. The government has ordered the hippos to be shot on sight but there's been pushback from animal rights organizations and local residents so then they tried putting the hippos in a pin but and this is one of the mini quotes from this article. That honestly sounds straight hundred jurassic park. Etcheverry said i didn't know they could jump hikes so then they tried big pens with high enough walls that the hippos can't jump onto them. They've also been focused on trying to prevent them from breeding by cuisine. And then castrating the males. They've been through a steep hippo anatomy learning curve on that front though. Not even being sure where to look. For the animals external reproductive organs turns out. It's a bit complicated. They finally got a system of castration down. But it's costly and complicated so they can only do about one year but the estimates are that the population grows ten percent a year and apart from the bodily harm humans and the destruction of farms the hippos as they multiply host of other problems quoting again. A twenty twenty study of hippo inhabited lakes found that nutrients from the animal's feces were fuelling huge. Plumes of area an algae. These intern reduced the oxygen content of the water. Making it toxic to fish.

Experience a Lost Disney World Ride in Virtual Reality

"Defunct land vr. Lets you experience a classic disney ride twenty five years after it was closed. And this is something that i'm super into. I think it's really really interesting. So there's a couple things to talk about here. There's a youtube channel called defunct land which I would highly recommend you checkout. It's extremely fascinating stuff. They just but fifteen minute videos on old theme park rides That are no longer around and kind of. Why do they close. Or what was it like. And that sort of stuff. And i think a few years back it was there. The announced the patriots. It's like hey you know potentially if we get enough patrons we might try to recreate some of these old rides and vr. So they actually did it. They actually released a twenty thousand leagues under the sea. Which i didn't really know much about in fact When i saw this news i was familiar with defunct line. In fact there. Is that really great documentary. Class action park on. Espn defunct land. Did a video in action park. Actually before that even came out so anyway i was kind of aware of it but i went back and i watched their two parter to videos on twenty thousand leagues under the sea submarine voyage. And like i knew. I was going to download this. Vr thing. I thought you know what. Let me get some context. I watch those videos so cool. And finally i put on the headset and did it. And i just love this whole thing. I just love the idea of vr being away to just to just keep a repository of these things that are so the go away. You know what i mean. Yeah i mean this is. This is ready player. One stuff you know like this is like relive your child at least for me. I remember the twenty thousand leagues under the sea. Ride really super cool for folks that have never experienced it in one journey back into time that they never got to see for me this. This feels like this was what i remembered. It still feels weird that it's finding nemo on. It's been that way. Yeah how many years but That was when i was a kid. Christian. did you ever ride the twenty thousand leagues under the sea. Ride as a fourteen year old is how old i am now. I have. yeah. I definitely have and i remember where they did at disneyland. I don't know like florida like the rebrand for nemo i. It's gotten better but at first it was like. And here's nemo one clown fish in there and i was like clown actually actually wrote the nemo one i never. I never wrote the twenty thousand one. So i was kind of coming in reverse. You know like seeing what it was now and then taking a trip back in time to what it used to be. You know. I haven't done this yet is it. Is it a good experience the vr. Yeah it's pretty solid. I would say it's definitely on the lower end of fidelity it's very much an independent projects. I think he's done a new unity. And as i was watching. There's a couple of things it's actually pretty cool. Is like watching youtube videos. They talk about how the effect was created. And how you're basically in a boat. You're not you're you never really submerged under the water and if if you look up during the ride you can kind of see the surface of the water and they kind of recreated all those of You know behind the scenes things in this. Vr rights if you look at the water and stuff and if you'd like peak around to the left to right you can see the way the track benz like kind of a real amusement park where you can sort of see us to where you were and where you're going to be in that sort of thing so i like the way they did that. They didn't wear like it. They're trying to recruit the ride not the experience and so the jank that comes with it and what's funny is on a on a sub on another level like a meta level because you're now abstracting at one further with like low poly objects and characters. It's like a semi lack of a similar. Acura is kind of funny. Well i guess there's a bunch of this kind of stuff that's also in dreams like people are doing using the playstation for dreams platform which also supports vr vr to do a lot of Disney ride recreation and stuff super super. Cool

Disney Lays off 28,000 Workers

"It has been a cruel month were Disney workers on September twenty. Ninth. Disney announced layoffs for twenty eight thousand people mostly those who work for its parks and resorts division or in Disney speak cast members layoffs affect all types of employees from actors and singers to bus drivers, ride mechanics and cruise ship operators close to seventy percent of the people receiving digital pink slips work time. In many cases, these employees have been furloughed since April shortly after covid nineteen forced Disney to close its theme parks and cruise line furloughed employees stopped receiving wages but kept their benefits. Now, following a period of severance pay, they could lose everything not that it hasn't already been bleak unite here local seven three. Seven is an Orlando Union representing eighteen thousand Disney Hotel and food service employees. Last summer, the Union organized a weekly Food Bank planning provisions for two hundred families one day in late September, the line of people waiting for food stretch two miles eight hundred people picked up groceries the new. York Times reported. That's despite the fact that Disneyworld reopened in July. Disneyworld is the company's flagship and the larger of its American theme parks on a Normal Day seventy five thousand employees keep the complex San Francisco sized park running. Now, those numbers are down by thousands disneyworld reopened with stringent social distancing and sanitizing procedures. But despite Disney's safety plans, many fewer tourists are currently willing to visit amusement parks either. Fearing the virus because some restaurants and attractions remained closed or because international travel is restricted or some combination of all three. The situation for Disney is arguably even worse in Anaheim where Disneyland remains closed due to government restrictions not surprisingly Disney is desperate to reopen, but with corona virus cases on the upswing nationally governor Gavin newsom has said no relations between Disney and governor newsome's office have quote turned frosty according to Bloomberg BusinessWeek Disney says, no one at Disneyworld has contracted covid nineteen since the park reopened regardless lackluster attendance to all of its theme parks is causing horror movie like hits to Disney's earnings Disney's parks unit brought in two, thousand, six, billion in revenues. Last year. CNN. Reported profits. Fell ninety percent in the first three months of this year that the pandemic continues is clearly bad news for any industry that relies on crowds. The virus has also battered Disney rival universal, which operates theme parks in Orlando and elsewhere universal parks sitter and more than a billion dollars in revenue. Last year, they dropped like a scary rollercoaster ride this year though second quarter sales fell more than ninety percent universal to has laid off thousands by now it's certainly no surprise that the pandemic hurt travel hospitality and tourism is hard as it has. But what is notable and often lost in the headlines is that the economic effects of the pandemic are strikingly different depending on your skills industry and geography Lower, income workers are far more likely to work in jobs that cannot be done from home. It's impossible to do laundry fix a broken roller coaster or dresses Mickey and shake a child's hand to resume. Of course, as we continue to socially distance digital industries are booming many professional workers are fine or increasing their wealth but person businesses like Disney resorts have no clear and certainly no quick line of sight to a recovery. Jal points to the fact that the booming stock market tells far from the whole story about the economy and economy of riches for some and recession for many many others.

"Today I've got something Real Special Rio Rio special for you. It's called a segment. Admit what the fuck is going on. That's what we're calling it by the way W T F now if you're familiar with SEO project you're probably familiar with the longer shows and then also shorter show. This would be the shorter format show similar to Friday fire Thursday thunder that we did for years and years. EXCEPT EXCEPT WE'RE GONNA be talking about real situations and real life and so what we're GONNA do here is we're going to have a number of different formats for the show four into be exact four different kinds of shows that will fall under the W. T. F.. Show so next time next week when you tune it will be a different for kind of show but today's format and I'm GONNA get my. I'm going to get my help and my news clippings for my man. Tyler MC salmon ripped jeans. What else are you names? You don't WanNa call me. He's not the pastor of disaster. He's he's more like the The pain in my ass. Something like that. I don't I gladly accept. Yeah but he is my homie and he's going to help me out with these. He's a little shows all right so today the segment is called Yin and Yang. And it's where we're GONNA go over some really bad shit and then we're going to go over some really good shit and we're GonNa talk it through so let's get started of all right man. We're going to start off with the ugly all right and do this one's GonNa. This is GonNa hit you a little hard because you're gonNA have a lot in common with with this soon as I start reading the story like fuck. 'cause I mean like imagine you're out you know having a great time and also none of the where you get stabbed. Can you relate to that. Yeah Yeah I can. Yeah a lot of you guys don't know if you don't know well just go ahead and read it. Yeah all right. So the ugly This happened in Nashville Asheville Police announced on Wednesday that they had arrested a man in connection with Saturday. Slaying of Clayton beat hard the younger brother of San Francisco. Forty niners quarterback we're back. CJ BEATHARD and Paul Tre Pini third at Nashville Bar. So like I said they're out having a good time and who knows what exactly happened now. They're dead now they're dead okay. So the facts of this the suspect facing two counts of criminal homicide His name is Michael Moseley. He's twenty three years old. He's also facing one count of attempted criminal homicide after three men were stabbed. He's being held without bond on the homicide charges and on a five million dollar bond For the attempted criminal homicide but at the time of the slaying Moses was free on a five thousand dollar bond over a felony assault charge against him in December of two thousand eighteen court records say that he punched and kicked a thirty seven year. Old Woman at a Walmart Michael Moseley was also has passed convictions for assault robbery car theft burglary including one incident in which he stabbed the man and cut a woman a woman in Twenty fifteen and received a three and a half year prison sentence. So He's definitely got a history of doing this shit. Don Erin a spokes. A spokesman for the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department was asked how a man who had committed multiple violent acts in the past could be allowed out of prison. And that's pretty fucking good question Russian. Yeah I'd say so man lot you guys don't know I was also the victim of a violent crime. It was also an incident where there was a stabbing. I was stabbed three Times in the face once in the back hundred sixty stitches in my face permanent paralysis on the left side of my face. If you haven't heard the story it's pretty brutal but I have experience with this and Yeah you're right dude it does. It does hit close to home Almost the identical scenario Now identical but very similar happened to me. I was lucky enough to not die clearly but But that's fucking terrible man but I mean the guy who stabbed you also had a ghetto history. Yeah and so. That's the thing you know we we live in. It's we live in a society right now where everybody needs a cause to fight for and sometimes those causes Supersede common sense of right. I'm all for everybody getting a fair shake. I'm all for second chances chances but what I'm not for as third and fourth and fifth and sixth and seventh chances when we have someone who's clearly got something wrong with them and it clearly they are not interested in changing the way they behave. So how do we deal with these people. How do we handle these people who consistently do harm in our society Eh? But continuously get second and third chances because there's so many people out there with bleeding hearts and listen I get it man. You have empathy see for people you want to believe that these people have some good in them. But I'm GonNa tell you from somebody who has dealt with this kind of shit firsthand. There are people out out there who are just back. They are bad people and certain people stay bad their entire lives. They don't whatever the reason season they were raised wrong. They were abused. They didn't have a dad. There could be a trillion reasons. He was having a bad fucking day but none of those reasons since justify people crossing the line to take the lives injured people who are literally just living their life. Yes I like like. They're out there killing their own fucking evil people like them no hurt people who maybe they could get paid for something like that. I don't know but do we've gotta find a solution. You knew this because this is just starting. We're seeing this over and over again. We're seeing every two weeks. Something gets shot up. You know so people here. Here's when it comes down to you could say oh it's this. Oh it's social media. Oh it's their parents. Oh it's lack of family values. You know what it could be all of those things but none of those things. Excuse that behavior and that's where we're off as a society. So here's here's what I think. And this is my solution to these kinds of problems and I know it's a little bit out there. But it's the truth. If you guys have all watched forensic files which which if you haven't you should 'cause it's a great fucking show you know that there's plenty of situations where some a cold case or a case. That was ten fifteen twenty years old. You know that you know. Because that's what the show is they bring that case to the forefront and then they solve it with forensic science that's the basis of the show twenty years ago thirty years ago that technology. Do those things to prove beyond a reasonable. Hannibal doubt that people did. These things was not there so we had to have this extended stay in prison. You you know before we execute people or before we dealt with them permanently so that we could have due process of the law and I'm all about due process. I'm all about making absolutely sure that was the person who is accused of the crime. I am all for that but we we have the technology to do that now. A very short amount of time. So this is my thing I personally think and this is my perspective but I I think that the way to cure this shit from happening is to a make harsher laws and be shortened the punishment window. meaning that if this man gets convicted instead of him waiting twenty years to be dealt with on death row how `bout we deal with it in fucking five five months save a folks on a money notion only eight instills. An amount of fear. Is someone knows. Fuck dude if I get caught doing this I'm GonNa be dead Ed six months or five months or dead ninety days. There's a lot less chance of them to actually do that. That's the truth. But instead they're they're actually they're going into the court system like oh I'm GonNa be offered a deal correct or if I if I have good behavior get out in. La Too lenient bro. We've gotten in the the technology we don't need to be that lien anymore. And I for one. I'm sick of seen instant motherfuckers. Hurt families destroyed people you know permanently permanently just figured or injured because some mother fucker. That can't operate you know. Groups of people clearly society. So I'm I'm sick of seeing shit like this. This is very sad to young men and dude even if they were bad men. I don't know because they could be bad. They could be good. It could be a gang who it doesn't fucking matter. 'cause they're dead that means they have no chance at life. They're in the ground they are gone. They are fucking not coming back. That's not okay especially going back to the prison sentence that he probably Mike it like compared to. Let's say tax evasion where you get fucking thirty forty years dude. Got People getting ten. Ten Years in jail for marijuana when marijuana's legal half the fucking states net if you kill somebody about three I do look man. I'm all for. I'm all for a chance. I think the lawyers are partly to blame this. Do you think. Do you think that the defense lawyer or your should be capped salary wise so that there's no incentive for them to you know the the problem is bro is that they're look. I've got some friends who are attorneys attorneys and they're good dudes but there's a lot of people out there that are not good dudes and they're just in it to get paid and they're not in it for the good of society and we have so many of these people Out there now that they're not willing to do what's right over what's going to get them paid. And that's why we have a problem with this because the lawyers make the laws so they they understand that if they cut the punishment time down or if they changed the laws to be more harsh. They're gonNA make less money and that's really the problem that we have here. I don't think that anybody listening to this. Yes well most people listening to this are going to disagree that this motherfucker should never been on the street in the first place. I mean past convictions. Assault Robbery car theft burglary all the four twenty three. Yeah stabbed a man and cut a woman in two thousand fifteen three and a half years okay that that guy should not have been out to do these things. That's the point. So I agree with Don Erin. Who is the spokesman for the Nashville Metropolitan Police? And saying what the fuck. Because that's what he's saying. So have you ever seen the movie law-abiding citizen draws one of my favorite movies. Ever it put that Shit happens. Yes like yes. His wife and daughter murdered and the fucking murder gets off on like a technical college. It happens every day. It's depressing pressing is. There's not enough accountability. For for true criminals do do people we have as a society we have to be able to draw the line between is is this is this an accident was a mistake. Was it a poor judgment. What what happened was a passionate thing? What what is this? We have to to be able to draw the line between that and people who are fucking evil. And we're not doing that right now because there's a lot of people who've never experienced this kind of of situation which I have personally not with my family with fucking me that don't understand the implications of these kinds of things so we have people out. There were no real hardship. No real life experience making up these rules for other people who just they. Can't the people trying to fight for these people. Don't understand that that mother fucker you're fighting for. Cut Your fucking face off. They don't think it could ever affect them well. They don't understand that if they put in a room with that person. That person will cut your head off to take your wallet. Well it so we have to do a better job at drawing a line between the situation and the person as being a flawed human unreal. So look dude. I'm all for it. I guarantee you do too few. Dwi is a year in jail. People stop driving drunk. DOC would solve the problem so I do you think they don't though because there's money involves money right. There's tons of money too. I can tell you what if they ever did that. Dos Start a cab company the bay. Anyway that's ugly man. That's the ugly and you know when you guys think about what's wrong with society. Think about these things. So what's the good dude man. The good good This one's GonNa hit home too. You might not like talking about it but I think you'll appreciate you know the message and the lesson in this So a a father. Let's see Father in a twelve year old son build a real size Lamborghini invented. RSV Replica using a three D. Printer which is pretty cool The Lambo is drivable. Got A twin. Turbo Ellis one so sounds like a pretty fun car. You know in a team from Lamborghini found out about this and they arrived in the middle of the night and replace the replica with a real event or s roadster in the family garage Only a few few days before Christmas Lamborghini left the black events whereas roadster.

"Eh so forgotten hero is warner brothers. Forgotten your music parks. So you saying saying they're forgotten here is an amusement parks and not forgotten and like most guys know where the Warner Brothers from the WB network show enemy axe but they also did other things aside from have that water tower. Now in nineteen seventy two. You might remember that for son of Sam something with hockey the doors I remember most from Nineteen seventy-two Sam was not ninety seventy two. I WanNa make that clear for people. It doesn't matter. You still might remember one thousand nine hundred sixty seven Sam like hey possible miracle on ice all that stuff it was all in nineteen seventy two but the most famous thing on that year and we think in Calvin Coolidge is second term. No surprise second term from the dead Zombie President back it is not president. Who'll is ever? It was a new craze sweeping the nation a craze for driving through amusement parks that it had animals on what you mean like safari through safari today. New Yorkers will know great adventure theme parks which are which have taken over end which feature as sort of villainous story who eventually wins just like in America most villains do in nineteen seventy two. The first one opened in New Jersey called Zongol habitat and the brothers opened it. They thought it was going to be amazing. One girl on opening day spotted deer which I thought was very unique in New Jersey. That she dear. There's a New York Times article. Part of the deer places called what jungle habitat it opens on July fifteenth in nineteen seventy two as she spotted a deer a young girl named Deborah dear according to the article but it was also very very hot and many of the issues that presented themselves on this first day would present themselves later. Everyone was told to keep their windows up up. But because it was super hot fifteenth and the park only had two lanes go one going in one going out. There was massive traffic for the seventeen eighteen. Thousand people there and in the seventies as you all know and I remember that old there was a lot of air conditioning physically. Everyone had to roll down their windows windows and a bunch of cars stalled. Traffic stopped like that in the middle of the jungle in the middle of this drive through safari basically yeah The children had to listen to this recording. And so based on the recording me doc at the heavy on safari with us at Warner Brothers Jungle ebbets later on you'll be. tweety mutilations EMECO folks in a lot of friends but now I'll hop off and twain you use a fiery guy. You're about to begin a most unusual. She will adventure unique safari one. That will take you from the wild of Africa across the European continent to Asia and then across the polar ice cap to the western Stern Hemisphere as you along the miles of safari trail. You'll be in another world world which distance and five or compressed into one unforgettable experience and all the world this experience can only happen here here at one brothers jungle habitat children did not likeness weakness and shut off the recorder the article because it was annoying or because it scared them or what because it was just I mean. I think that the point is. It's just boring okay. And it's like cheesy corny jokes that no one likes anyway by August. There had been some problems so first of all the traffic was becoming a huge problem. Problem one of the big problems was this was a similar situation in that during the summer. Are All these tourists. Were completely crowding the streets. A stream in the animal park lead directly directly into Newark's reservoir which I thought was kind of funny because great. I doubt the population of Newark. New Jersey even noticed the sixteen hundred animals animals fecal matter being pushed into their water reservoir but apparently the town management dead because yeah so the animals are just poop into the streamed through the park and it would go into the drinking water reservoir of their people newark for Newark Interest Rates. You can smell it when you don't have to be there and by seventy-three it turned into a major problem. They had like passing new ordinate and basically build a new sanitation plant. Just to get rid of these animals. So in seventy two this in October of seventy two six seven months after it opens a Hebrew man in is a man from Israel so only Hebrew but was from Brooklyn named Abraham Levy was writing through the zoo in a cab for some reason which also sounds very. How did he get that? I don't know I guess he. He picked up a cabinet and had it drive them to New Jersey to an animal park. which sound you know? It sounds like maybe the CAP got lost. I wanted to go to Pelham Bay in any case is driver so he decided that that you wanted to open the window of the cab the so he did and apparently lion attacked him and Claude his face in his shoulders and his arms until the cab. The driver threatened the lion with a knife and was in the face so a couple things. Obviously the cabdriver. Having a big enough knife to threaten the lion king came from there he just always ready for a lion attack in New York City. Yeah exactly so an anti-semitic lion that's true. Who was this guy and wanted to rip his face off? And later that year they had even more issue's three wolves escaped. There is a big problem with peacocks on the loose. Apparently like just a whole bunch of animals a lion cub. A bunch of animals escaped into Westville. He's living in the woods because escaping is not that unsettling. It's kind of charming. In a way that there might be a peacock this Stroz the big peacock infestation. But wolves running around. Well yes although. These are unfounded rumors about like zoo. But there there were rumors of landscaping and some other stuff so there was a follow up article. Deborah sees a Lion Deborah's here becky. Deborah sees life a flash before I called so it went down and down in attendance until nineteen seventy four and nineteen seventy four the commissary. The food area had to be shut down because it was overwhelming rat population dead rats hundreds of live and dead flies or covering all the food and areas. God that sounds sounds now that sounds like New Jersey and that was in the same year that great adventure opened right down the street in New Jersey City. Obviously that's become the worldwide phenomenon it is today so state Senator Anthony Imperiale early ninety seventy five rented a lion throws uncle habitat to appear on a Roman style flow into Columbus Day parade with him. A gladiator outfit and was subsequently attacked and had to be the hospital because the lion bald anti inside Italian lion so he doesn't like the Italians he doesn't like the Jews got some racist lions. Yeah I mean it's also like I love the idea of this state senator. Anthony didn't eat like Tony. I'm sure it's Tony Reality. Yeah like dressing up as a gladiator on a Roman Columbus Day. You know what it is not tell you what it is. Anti Italian Discrimination Columbus Day is a day of Italian tried our holiday and they want take it away them still today. They're rumors that the animals it's still basically in its original condition The park has sort of just been abandoned and turned into into a nature park. So it's basically just still like woods and hiking and a lot of the animals are rumored to still be onsite wandering around. There's a rumor that lions live and the site. There's rumors that all of the animals like a lot of them. Some of them escaped and whenever were found somewhere planted there by you. Know anger zookeepers zookeepers after it was closed Tony periodically took a couple south theory. All right so anyway I was. You know no it's it's pretty close so we're GONNA probably go on our own search to see if we can find any of these animals but I'm Italian. You're Jewish show. Yeah we got Israel Fusco go so if there are any lives well we figured it's because they're already lines will be able to find him and we're GONNA listen to the recording and make sure we follow his thing so you guys we come back alive. Turns out he's a Majorcan man so not only is he Cooking the books books and using the money that he gets for like the P. T. L. to buy his own personal shed buy houses and jets and stuff. There's that what then he also had a thing where he sold people lifetime passes to heritage. USA and then he didn't make good on the province. I was at all. It was a pretty do theme parks. Like if you just give me a lot of money I'll give you. You'll not only be helping God but you'll get a pass for the rest of your life safe to this amazing fucking waterpark And that became a whole fraud thing and then came the sex scandal Jim Baker kind of his whole empire came crashing down when he had this sex scandal Kinda ruined everything for him in jail crazy enough. Jim Baker was later played in a TV movie by Kevin Spacey who are also as we know own problems with The law and then controlling himself. So it's A. It's a kind of vicious cycle that goes on With awful men and his right hand man was Jerry Falwell who became really really famous Specially in the early two thousands when he really lost his mind line and was talking about how the evils of the purple teletubbies and he really wet hard against the you know gay marriage stuff anyway the daily show. Yeah Yeah right well no well being made fun of. I'm sure yeah not respected guest Jerry Falwell so falwell. He Baker and follow our good friends and then bakers. I had this little fraud thing. It's GonNa blow over Jerry. Can you help raise money for the park and and the PTO While L. on dealing with this and Falwell does it. Most of you know that they that we are in chapter. Eleven filing with a federal court seeking their protection section and assistance in solving. What have been some very insoluble problems for us here? One we have about a seventy two million dollar indebtedness that is manageable and unworkable and we're committed to paying it we just can't pay it all at one time. I mean I feel like that is something I have literally. Every look it's manageable. It's totally who really payable. Not at this probably going to do it. Yeah later listen not at this. Time is very insoluble. We try to all the water in the water park but soluble is a good choice of words. Exactly right so remember that. I said that they soul people basically said if you gave us money money than you get a lifetime pass to the theme park and that was the deal that people were told but pretty quickly it becomes clear that that's not actually what they write and there's that's the partnerships he's talking about one hundred eighty million dollars of partnerships. But anyway see if you as an average because he was saying this to an audience of basically just his average average I mean many of them were investors but his average daily audience. See if you can understand what the hell is because it almost impressive in a way how little he actually says but anyway. Listen mm-hmm Secondly we have a we have a major problem with partnerships. We have sold as best. We can determine somewhere between one hundred million and one hundred eighty dollars worth of those partnerships that one hundred to one hundred eighty million dollars was called a lifetime partnership ownership and was intended to be a contribution to the ministry for which the ministry again as a contribution a gift provided four days and three nights in the heritage grand and if the Tau Infant when the towers are finished. And we're committed to doing that The same thing there. The problem is that we have oversold sold by three hundred and twenty-five percent that is we have three point two five families waiting per room per night forever. Three point two families that sounds like a really great. You know loving Christian number there. Yeah so if you're thinking to yourself everything follow saying sounds like bullshit. You're not alone. Most most people in the crowd you could see I look pissed off or confused and one gentleman has the bravery to contribute to it gave it to the Lord and feel that this it came from my heart to God's heart and I'm trusting the ministry now to do for us what is ethical and morally right and so forth and our desire is out up. I'm sorry Sir this is Church Service Sir thank you we have a few like that we have a few year. We have one or two like that here but thank thank God I love the basis comes in and they start playing. I also think clearly must have something set up like a playoff fly. Definitely.

"amusement park" Discussed on Forgotten Heroes Podcast

"While I'm here to talk about the third most successful theme park of all So the top one is Disneyland. The second one is Disney world and the third one is called heritage. USA It wasn't around very long. It was started in the eighties. It was basically don basically done by the early nineties So it didn't last too long but in its day it was the third most visited theme park in the lure in its day is parodied. USA was dubbed the Christian Disneyworld so it was a Christian theme park right but it begs a couple of questions is located. It was located. Question is located kid. It was actually located in southern North Carolina so in the South Land and they make commercials for it and this is actually a part of commercial from one thousand nine hundred seventy basically people pulling up to a gas station and asking the attendant. How do they get to imagine how they look all all different folks thank you which way to heritage? US Like I heard. They got like a waterpark water. Slides everything Bernardi Dude. So which way no matter where you're from or what you like to do. If you're looking for fun John Excitement or just relaxation. Ask somebody how to get to here. Did you say the guy who started was this guy. Jim Baker and they insisted yeah. It's like we're very proud to be a Christian Anthony Park the Christian Disneyland and I'm like what is particularly not Christian about Disney world. It's not like Disney world has like demons roaming around as it's just odd because when you look at the park itself just like a waterpark and then it has this a bunch of hotels and in the hotels that's where they had all these Christian retreats a former security chief at the park He was interviewed about like. Why was it Christian? Why was it special? And he said Disneyworld Disneyworld had Mickey Mouse. But we had salvation top that Jesus so they didn't have at this This amusement park they didn't have a lot of mascots. Like you would see at Disneyworld but they did for some reason to have a a giant crocodile. A guy dressed up in a big Crocodile outfit. Oh that's a children's book so I would call them. What's the Children's book? Alligators pitchers prominently I would say that. That's what Soli about alligator exactly. So it's like the crocodile of Christ like the CROCK. Oh Christ like I feel like it's very I. So maybe it's a Moses thing it's a real stretch you would think that. If they had mascots they would have at least just someone dressing up as Jesus walking looking around and hugging people that might be heresy. I bless you. I don't know how he talks exp. But I don't know if I WANNA know I chomp CHOMP chomps on the children come visit your favorite mascot it's also the last thing especially because he was in Florida so you feel like Florida residents the last thing. They want like associated with a waterpark. Definitely a waterpark. That's that's definitely very very weird. Michael Jackson sculpture like children's museum. Or something like Oh. Why did you choose Michael Jackson as your mascot? Like you know we just could potentially teach kids to feed Alliot Irs. It's never been you've never water. Parks are fun but yeah I thought there'd be like a baptism take on it not that I wouldn't want people know but as you're leaving the park if you like Baker.
