Caller: Why Did We Hear About a Railroad Strike Just Now?
"My opinion about this railroad strike, I think the whole thing is just a fabricated ginned up show. I think uncle Joe called in some markers with a way in fact Joe called in markers that he held on the railroad for the billions of tax dollars while Steve, it's not just Amtrak, Joe, it's Amtrak, Joey. Joey. Back on the train, Joey. You know, the interesting thing, Steve, is that Joe Biden wasn't even in Washington D.C. when all this was going down. He was in Detroit, touting $61,000 electric vehicles. When have you ever heard of a labor strike that would have that kind of effect on this country? You never heard a word about it until this week. One day you hear there's a threat of a labor strike. The next day you hear Joe is going to talk to. The next day, it's soft. It's all over with. You know, it's interesting. It's interesting about the timing, Steve, because there had been a period where they were they kicked the can down the road and we were coming up to the end of that extension period. I think another extension might kick it past election day. The timing of it is not bad for Joe Biden. That is admittedly so.

Now there are some developments apparently in the effort to avoid this strike members of one union. We're told have rejected an offer on the table, while three other unions are still negotiating the head of Friday's national strike deadline. We're also learning that the railroads say they have no intention of locking out rail workers if they don't reach a new contract agreement by Friday. That's what the association of American railroads is telling CNBC this morning. In the meantime, the U.S. labor secretary is trying to strike a last minute deal to head off a work stoppage. If that strike does happen, it would cause serious damage to the American economy. In the past, Congress has acted to prevent railroad strikes and end them by passing bills that impose terms on the parties. But even as The White House says a railroad work stoppage would be unacceptable, press secretary karine Jean Pierre says now is not the time for lawmakers to intervene. This is an issue that can and should be worked out between the rail companies and the unions, not by Congress. Two large unions demand that the railroads and their new attendance policies and

Correction: Sarasota Airport Is Not Extending Mask Mandate
"All the airlines, Uber, Amtrak, airports, somebody called us and falsely asserted that the Sarasota airport in Sarasota, Florida, was going to extend the mask mandate through mid may. Thanks to ace newsman roger P shulman here at a.m. 8 60, the answer in Tampa Bay. That is false. The Sarasota airport is not requiring masks at Sarasota's Bradenton international airport. They are no longer required there. I apologize for the wrong information. And I do apologize to the Sarasota airport. You know, a caller sometimes they get things wrong. Sometimes people are trolling us, sometimes people just genuinely and innocently get wrong information and they forward it. And I should do a better job of being on my guard against a caller like that. So my apologies to the Sarasota Bradenton international airport. They are not extending the mask mandate.

John Zmirak Has Some Thoughts on Ukraine and Vladimir Putin
"In ladies and gentlemen. I have good news and bad news. The good news. I'm talking to John's mirac. The bad news, everything he says. Okay, John. Let's talk about the Ukraine. The other day I had the privilege of sitting with Sebastian gorka. I want to get him on this program because he was making the case of why we would why we should defend Ukraine. And others, I was trying to understand in my mind once the Soviet Union fell NATO is over. You don't need NATO. I never really understood why we preserve this fiction of we still have the Cold War going even though it's over. The same reason for the same reason we still have Amtrak. And that's it. It's institutional bureaucracy and admission bloat, I'll say this. Vladimir Putin is right. Everything Vladimir Putin has asked for from the United States is legitimate. Like if we go to wait, I want to just maybe if we go to war with Russia over this. We will be wrong and we will deserve to lose. This is worse than the Iraq War because there was a legitimate pretext for the Iraq War, even though it was stupid. This is worse than the war in Afghanistan. This will be more like the Spanish-American War or the Mexican-American War when where we were basically in the wrong. We, the U.S. are CIA overthrew the legitimate popularly elected government of Ukraine in a coup d'etat that was eerily similar to what happened to our election in 2020. The same CIA deep state types who overthrew the government in Ukraine because it was too pro Russian. We have audiotape of the U.S. ambassador talking to one of her aides. This is about ten years ago. This is when Yanukovych was overthrown. Right. We have audio of the U.S. ambassador chatting with her staff about who should be the next president. Because she was the one picking him. Imagine if the Russia overthrew the government in Mexico because it was too pro American, put in a pro Russian government, created a military alliance with Russia, like NATO is with the U.S. and then tried to take pieces of Texas.

The Democrats' January 6 Anniversary Coverage Is a Painful, Desperate Campaign Ad
"To turn on the TV today. I told you don't do it. And because I'm a giver, I did. I watched as much as I could stomach this morning of The Today Show. Where the interview Liz Cheney, the outgoing Wyoming congresswoman. And really the only Republican in addition to Adam kinzinger sitting on this January 6th select committee. Now, this is a big day for The Today Show. They sent Savannah Guthrie to Washington, D.C.. I mean, they took her out of the cozy confines of plush studio there in midtown Manhattan. She had to get on the Amtrak and go all the way to Washington, D.C.. Because this is such a big day. It's going to be a moment of silence today. The vice president of the United States right now is addressing the American people. I can not make you suffer through it. We may pull a little bit of it, but I don't think it's in your best interests to make you suffer through a campaign ad for the Democrats. It's all this is. That's all this is. This is a terrified scream. From the Democrats, the Donald Trump is coming back. And they don't know how to stop it.

Train travel is just too time consuming for me and most average travelers, but of course we're not in normal times, and that's giving Amtrak and advantage over plane travel that it hasn't had in more than seventy years so rights Robert Clara and editor at Ad Week Clara unearthed a seventy four year old report produced by the Association of American railroads in a desperate bid to compete with convenience of flying. The report touted the solitude and comfort of the sleeping car over time of course that promotion failed.
