"Bleacher tweets for a Thursday Christopher bishop is up first at Chris bishop. He writes in hey buster, I've heard a lot of fans complaining about the bigger bases, but do you think most would have even notes the larger bases if the league hadn't announced it? Chris, absolutely yes. I saw Alex for a description that they look like giant pizza boxes and they see stacked up outside of colleges, college dorms on Saturday and Sunday mornings. That's absolutely what it would look like. Yeah, they would have noticed. What about that photo shoot? The pictures of the photo shoot going around the Internet. That was pretty good. Amy Chapman up next. She writes, and how does the world baseball classic impact you and Tim and others getting to look at teams this spring when they are missing a number of key players? Yeah, Amy, it actually informs some of the choices you make and which camps you visit because you call ahead and say, hey, so and so in your camp, no he's off the WBC, and then you just move on to another camp. There are a number of stars who are actually as we go through day by day down who are choosing not to participate like Nestor Cortes, who cited a hamstring issue for not participating in the WBC. Alberti at right down right down Broadway rights and it's tough being a reds fan and he hoped for the team. I'm excited about the young pitching staff along with India and Stevenson. Yeah, hope for contending in 2023. No, but I've talked to Nick Kroll, the general manager of the reds recently. I think they're hopeful about what they're building there, but let's face it. This will not be a playoff year in Cincinnati. Elizabeth Hart at E Hart tweets writes in lots of rule changes this season but have they ever considered a rule change for the pitcher safety where if a pitcher gets hit in the head, it's immediately called a dead ball so that everyone can focus on the pitcher's health. Yeah, I've never heard that and yeah, it would be hard to put in a rule like that because what happens, you're asking basically the umpires to immediately diagnose the severity of an injury and that's not always clear when the pitcher gets hit immediately and you'd hate for let's say a guy hits a rocket through the middle. The pitcher goes down. Everyone stops and it turns out it would have been a double, like a game. I think it's allowing the players to finish the play and I've seen situations where a catcher first baseman, if the pitchers in serious jeopardy actually run to the mound before the place even over. And hey buster, do you think the tigers will be at least better than last season? Can't be worse. I was a disaster. Matthew Porto writes in as a huge Tolkien slash Lord of the Rings fan, I was delighted to see an episode named Bilbo baggins since we were ranking Jim Carrey movies as well as baseball stuff. How about ranking of Taylor's best quirky episode titles? By the way, is buster or Lord of the Rings guy? No, I full disclosure. You are supposed to read it for summer reading, I lied when I was in the 8th grade. I didn't read it. I'm not like the fantasy fiction type person I like history. Give us your best quirky episode titles. Oh, I'm gonna have to take a deep dive into that. Sarah is very nice about my episode title, so we'll check that out at a different time here. Last one for today. Amihai bayonet so which mets pitcher does buster thing finishes 2023 with more career strikeouts Justin Verlander or Max Scherzer Verlander's got 3198 Max Scherzer has 3192. Verlander. He's got a younger elbow to get Tommy John surgery in 2021. And I think Justin, I think Justin's what are the idea of pursuing 300 wins? I think that's a focus for him. I think he wants to pitch in his mid 40s. I don't think max is going to pitch in his mid 40s. I don't think it's going that deep is as important to him as it is to Justin. That's it for bleacher tweets. Hashtag bleacher tweets on Twitter. Thanks for showing up bleacher Twitter. We'll be back on Monday. Yeah, tons of bleacher tweets. That's it for today. My thanks to Ravi Sarah Jeff. Sarah and Taylor have a great day everybody have a great weekend. Thanks for listening. Stay safe and remember, hate inequality based on skin color is something we need to fight against. Every single day.

"How some of our own actions may contribute unintentionally vaccine hesitancy. And how to think about that. Yeah it's such a good point about vaccine hesitancy. I mean you know. I was like soon as a vaccine was offered to me. And i could get it. I was like i in line. I was really excited about it. Someone really really loves vaccines. I of course got j. and j. and so i'm thinking at some point about do i need a booster but it's even like the thought process of that. You're thinking okay win. would i get another shot. And how many days. Could i take off if i have side effects and not look at my busy schedule and you know i have the luxury of taking days off. But you're right. There's a ton of people who just for the sake of the fact that they can't take work off or they don't have easy access to the vaccine or someone hasn't knocked on their door and told him about it that they may not take it. So it's not all these as you said the the georgia cross it Crew but i do think the reason we talk about that so much more. Tommy is because republican politicians have now made this an identity issue which is what they've made so many other issues now so that it's not based in sort of self interest or what's good for you or what's gonna make you feel better what's going to save your life. Even it's all about your identity as a partisan and that sort of drowns out all the other sensible conversations. I don't you think. Yeah i know people in my life. I friends of friends who were were nowhere. Close to being republicans but they were scared by internet research. Or maybe they came across robert f kennedy on facebook and they think like oh he's a kennedy. This is a legitimate voice on no no. No no no. We're we're we're almost out of kennedy's you should listen to facebook. We're we're low on like like there's a kennedy involved like you gotta and then you're like oh no not that one you can see how your average person we think there's a real serious thought leader but you're right. I mean on the republican side. You know. I just looked come to believe that culture fights are everything for republican leaders especially ones who want to win a republican primary. Right amihai josh holly with his budget resolutions which are like been critical race theory Type on masks given to vaccinated you know abortion like whatever like whatever crazy thing you have Larry elder who's trying to run to a recall gavin newsom in california who did an interview one day where he said gavin newsom was elected fairly couple days later. He said he wanted a mulligan on that answer. Had cleaned it up and say that Biden was not actually elected fairly so like all. These people are terrified of the people. They want to vote for them owned by their right. And i think that that's something. It's interesting because i think with regard you see occasionally conservatives arguing democrats are also controlled by their base but that would mean that the democratic base is so myriad that you have like progressive base that actually hates democrats and then like centrist base that hates progressives. And it's just like it's like a very large confusing high school that i am afraid of But yeah i think that they're also the fig about it is that it is an identity marker and it's an identity marker that seems so constituent on this one thing when you know that what gets me. Is that when you know all of the people making talking points are vaccinated reineck. All of them are this. Hypocrisy is no longer a problem for anyone that has just gone out to wear you know right there all vaccinated and especially because then you start getting into like when you're public. Health concerns the relationship between public. Health and individual. Actions is always curious and questionable. And if i i been doing. I've been in history wormhole as i tend to be end. But if you go back to like the actual story of typhoid mary one of the things that was about that was like she was condemned by the city but no one explained to her. She was in so much trouble and she was just. I just wanna work. Why won't let me my job. And well. it turns out her job involved introducing people to typhoid fever. Which is very unpleasant. But i think that intersection has always been really complicated for people but it is interesting that this has been another moment. In which the kennedy. I don't like and the people who were anti vaccine before this people who are like no. You shouldn't get any vaccines for anything like we're seeing up of measles which can kill you. You're seeing ribs of a numerous diseases that we were very proud of having eliminated. And it's interesting. How that history has been helpfully forgotten by republicans. I saw someone tweeted something like you know maybe cove will just be with us like smallpox. And i'm like who do you know who has gotten smallpox. We did that like. We eliminated it. There are certain their vials of smallpox in very secure facilities and like three places on earth. What are you even talking about like there. There's a history here. it's a complicated one. But i think that people are willing far too willing to ignore the and embrace the easy. Well that is very true. And i mean i do think what's depressing about. It is like if if seeing other people getting sick and dying around you and in some cases getting sick and almost dying yourself. If that's not gonna convince you to either get a life saving shot or wear a mask inside for a little while longer like. Aren't you just beyond convincing at this point. Like aren't you sort of beyond. We have a group of people now and some of these republican partisans who are just like beyond the goal of politics itself which is to persuade people to see something differently. Like if if we can do it on this issue. I don't know. I don't know what's going to happen when the aliens come. We are fucked my takeaway nuggets. Climate change will be second to that. I do think i do think fighting about this in a political context is probably just not the path forward. I do like the fact that it's become a cultural. War issue bleeds into making it harder to convince these sort of fringe cases like for example. Joe rogan ri-. Joe rogan is like i'm just an idiot comedian with like a massive audience. Why would anyone listen to be on vaccines or anything else. But he brings it up a lot and then you know fairly recently your two ago. He had alex jones on who is spreading anti vaccine information about the polio vaccine. Which i could've i could've given you one. Google search one link to explain sort of the challenges with polio. Vaccinations which is basically. There's an oral version where you poop it out and you can infect people but there's a version that gets injected into you..

"Because that's super geeky. One thing that this you see global company the one that was contracted to do the security. Here we started doing is they started cracking down on. Who can come in. And one of the policies that they had was that you had to surrender your personal electronic devices at the door before you can enter and so they would surrender their mobile phones and they're recording things and stuff like that and the one part where it says. There were pictures on uc global computer of this of this journalists. Phone her personal phone and that doesn't seem super harmful right except when you read the part where they open up the phone. They removed the sim card. Take a picture of the same card it serial number and the phones amihai code. Why is this important. Why because if you have the same cards serial number and the phone you can now start tracking the Activity that that phone is having so were extending now beyond the reach of just inside of this Inside of this facility now they have the means to say all of these phone records all of these records coming from this. Particular sim are related to this particular person and you know. She is just journalist so she has nothing to do with. Julian assange other than she's writing a story so they're really pushing the boundaries here on what should be morally or even legally permissible to do in and there was a whole court case that Assange had set up against this particular company because frankly it's very clear that they were spying on him. Now the twist here and this is a pretty big twist is that there is a connection to a couple of you know third parties to trump So as you know when trump was on the campaign trail campaigning. Against hillary clinton you might remember a couple of moments where he was like. I love wikileaks because they were posting. All this shit about hillary clinton's emails and and all this stuff in it obviously was helping him in his his race and when he gets elected ultimately the kind of changes tone raid they. He's saying all. I don't really know wikileaks. Whatever and actually the the he gets much more aggressive. Us government gets more much more aggressive in pursuing julian. "Do you remember about that audition that you now know maybe Convince them that you were. You were the one Amihai remember every detail of that day pretty much a was so it was a big deal And i think i just so as said it was quite a shy person. I wasn't good at connecting with new. People are making a big impression. And i generally would get nervous about going in having to meet people even just like answering the phone. Is that kind of person. I was just anxious. But with this i was so certain of who the character was. I really really loved her. And i really had a very clear idea of who she would be. And i wanted to honor that having that kind of sense of purpose and it not being about me being the character that made me relax and it made me. Yeah just having a purpose. And i find that actually the same thing with the activism. When it's something. I'm sure about even though i don't particularly like putting myself out there and potentially really annoying some people i know i'm right. I have that sense of purpose in that helps me get at there anyway. So i think. That's what it was. That i i came into this audition not wanting to impress them or please them. Yes i did of course consciously but more being like i know who this character is. The casting director of reminded me that i said to the time. If you don't pick me you're going to be making the wrong choice the censo- so arrogant a good seated. But it was just like. I know what i meant to do here. And that's all i can do so. I think it was that. I think that came to the audition with ideas and i couldn't be swayed from who i knew. She was at her center. Yeah so everybody. That's a harry. Potter fan knows luna's characteristics and who she is who she to you because i'm wondering if it might reveal some more layers. What a nice question yet She is just pure light to me. and compassion She whenever. I was reading the books when i was younger several years before the movies and getting the part everything i would feel. Just such a sense of lightness when she would come on the page and i would feel in the presence of someone who let me be and didn't judge me. Even though she was a fictional character and had this beautiful open-mindedness she had this way of like looking at the world and not needing to judge it or compartmentalize. It or understand people she just let him be and she counted her time in my life where i was really struggling with Just very negative thoughts and anxiety and just suppose depression really on. She was a fantasy of that and it was. It was a good invitation into who i wanted to be. More like And yeah that does kind of what it what it is and i think she has this. I think we'll see her sometimes as like the comic relief in the movie they series as a bit silly ditsy. But i think it's much deeper than that i think she's very spiritual unlike connected to the world and yeah just feels other people and she so secure herself that she's able to really listen to another person on really take them in in a way. That is quite difficult when you are consumed with yourself for struggling with yourself. Yeah but you mentioned struggling with yourself and having some depression and struggles and we understand that you You you battled anorexia and that. Jk rowling actually helped you. co overcome. This was before you auditioned for the show. T t tell us that story. We thought it was fascinating. And we also want to go deeper into your Your eating disorder. Because both dot saying i have had eating disorders and part of this show is about that too when it comes up and he leaned from addiction. Yeah i think so. Many people have so many especially like sense to women. Because it's like it's not mean isn't it. It's really hard to accept yourself and just kinda go along without anything and You know people talk with things like addiction. Is it turns. Dan the volume on yourself or on your feelings and yet that's what that's what that was for me. It just kind of an. I think for a lot of people. I'm sure Maybe went through the same way that it just comes to just happens. It's not something you try and it's just an easy way of nomination and you're so consumed with this obsession. That don't have to feel your feelings and you don't have to do anything bigger daring because it's just one solitary thing in your life and so yeah i was really. I was actually in hospital when the order of the phoenix came out announced when i met the character balloon. That was there. Was things like that. That really woke up to actually. Don't want to live like this. This is such a lifeless worth a way to live and it's such a fearful way to live so yeah it was it was it. Was those books that character that those were a few things. That really broke me up to have pointless. My life was when i had any disorder. And so i wrote to take your own lean and it wasn't appear had like lots of different means of support but i wrote to her and i you know i just thank her just to say this is the one thing that makes me stop thinking of this obsessive cycle and i didn't think she'd right back. You know i just wanted to literally just expressed thanks that there and somehow i sent it to her publisher is an as ford or mailed to her and she got a letter read the letter i connected with it and yet she wrote to me for years. She wrote me while. I was like in and out of treatment centers and she was just you know i think it that my story has been quite sensationalized by the media as in. Jk rolling wrote to you and you got better and it's so i think it's really responsible to to pay to paint it like that because you can never get better for someone else even freaking a hero in you know leg i did. I had the person who i lies. Most in the world writing to me and encouraging me but i was still going in treatment centers. I was still trying to recover and then relapsing and you know disappointing j. caroline and i i it just you. Can't you have to be. It's your own journey. It has to be that you find a way to at that. You follow that path. And i'm so. I was so grateful for her support and i owe her so much gratitude for kind of light that she showed me through that time and so yeah that that that was. That was our relationship to start with but it was definitely as say i. It's been since ation list in the media and it wasn't a linear journey to recovery. Yeah it's beautiful that you share that i know from my own journey Gosh i really resonates. The the numbing out remain became so addicted to was that feeling but in the beginning when you start restricting food intake for me. Anyway i mean i did. I didn't know that it was going to be that. I just was trying to assert some time. Some kind of control over my life that fell out of control at the time and then i came very addicted to that. That feeling you describe what were the complexities for you. That you were experiencing that even had you start restricting food even the first time. 'cause you don't know yet that you're going to be able to to nome out so severely it was a so i was. It was when i was eleven. I think that's the age where a lot of people suddenly become very aware of themselves and that they have to find out who they are. And you know you're at that point in your life for it's like people are asking like who are you. What are you going to do your life anew. kind of feel like this blob. You're just like i don't know i. My mom and dad will tell you and that that struggle release stressed me out and i was quite misfit as a kid. I was very creative and addressed quite weird in really crazy closing leg. It was a combination of being really sensitive but really creative a not having anywhere to fit in an yeah failing yeah at school or the drama classes was going to In my family and i was a third third daughter A brother his younger by was the third daughter. So you know. I wasn't able to define myself. My sisters were straight a student's the smart wednesday. Were kind of doing everything i and i was just. I was real crisis of identity. It was like. I don't know who i am. I don't know how i will succeed in this world. I don't know how. I'll find love at side of kind of this safe. Warm good cosseted existence of family. You know my mom lobby me. An and i wanted to find something that would give me an edge and that would make me feel special or make me feel like i had worth and you know that quickly and unintentionally became the eating disorder. Yeah i had a shore who i like say that i was too fat and i i think mine started very Physically i didn't at least that's what i thought and sure if i had some confidence i would've just kicked kicked him in the balls i'd like to do. We know where areas strongly. Actually i do but Yeah so is it. It was accumulation of things as obviously vulnerable. But i didn't that. I mind started very much for like physical reasons and then became a way to cope. Because i i do. Yeah but i also because as a young girl you care about if a young man whom you have a crush on me i was. I was a little older than you. I was fourteen when it started. Surfacing it it has an impact and you want to please and be be who boys want yeah So and it's like it's perfection. Isn't it that that that's that's one thing that's certain if you just keep on working on yourself you you think you'll achieve perfection and everything else is so unsure. I think your school and your career and yeh relationships with people like you. It's i i really. I see it as like a safe thing. But i also see it as a cowardly thing to just pursue perfection. That way. i think that's part of what helps me. My healing is that. I keep trying. You know reminding myself and that that that's that's a cowardly way to live and it's very always live and don't want to be like that you know. Do you remember throughout your recovery. And i'm sure it was rocky road. They're never just straight to recovery in and out of the treatment centers and therapy. Do you remember when a light started to turn on when you felt like. I am going to see the other side of this house. Yeah i think there were a few things. I mean there. Were things like reading. Harry potter books and me luna and things rose like i want to be like some. Jk rollings he's not defined by her image or perfection. Or anything you know beautiful. But that's not her thing you know. He's a lot more interesting. But so then. I was in his treatment center in london. Actually that was when it was really bad. And i think we're things like had a crush on one of the guys in the treatment center and that really helps me in towards the end of it where it was just like that kind of bring you back to life like love. I suppose. I don't think i was in love with getting outta crush but i think there were moments of like falling in love with lots of things. There is also an acting teacher who was in got treatment center and he was really encouraging me. It's like i fall in love with acting. Or i would fallen off a book or following a boy and that would kind of make me loosen my grip on the disorder. Not need as much so. Yeah i suppose in in a it sounds corny but love is the thing that pulled me out of it now. It doesn't at all that doesn't it all sound corny. You had more going on in your life than just concentrating on food valerie's I think that's really that's really really important. And you realize you sorry. You can't pursue the pursuit of great love when you're really sick. Yeah just knew you know yeah. You can't sustain both right right And the and the irony is is that also. Is that a lot of times like i. I wanted to please the boy but actually boys don't like it when girls are only narrows set at look at being super thin and think it's quote quote unquote perfection. Guys don't like that. And then i mean there's even studies that have shown that a lot of men will fantasize about women who are heavier but they'll want in their life as their partner someone's smaller because society that is more accepted so they might even be turned on by super heavy obese swimming but they would never in their real life. Admit that so our idea of what we call. Perfection is a. it's totally. There is no such thing she when it comes to humans but it's It's not gonna get us what you we we. We become that we want to be perfect because we want love but actually in the end. It doesn't get us love very thin. Woman obsessed with a food will never have.

Validating Your Goals

"Guess. What Day it is it is Monday and that means today just like I've done every Monday since two, thousand six. I've asked you if you have taken a few minutes to ponder where your life is the good. The bad. The. Ugly. I've asked you to to do your homework. To look into what you like and want to keep and make sure you do like make sure you do want to keep it in can keep it. To look into what you don't like it. Maybe you want to change when you do that will you self assess your life magic happens things start to go in the direction you want them to go. So do your homework today my perfect week planner you can get it at perfectly planner. Dot Com is a great way to make sure you can do that every single week. So, goal setting is a big part of what I like to do. I'm a big ask Ole Center, I am I just reach out there and say, okay, let's go for something that I really believe I can do if I put my mind to it I'm GonNa go forward, but it's bigger than maybe I am today now you are a goal setting machine you are this whole business is something I do right now is whole lifestyle I have lived now since why started this way back in two thousand three's when I actually started doing this kind of thing. It all started from a big ask Ole it did I just kind of decided as let's do this and let's go out and make it happen and it's been my life ever since site believe in goals like that. I believe you're hardwired. So here's what I believe. I believe that when you get this idea in your head. And you believe in the idea and you get excited about the idea dome you're often running. That's what happens and usually you're not often running because you don't believe in the idea it's not big enough to excite you and so they whatever it's I like what I have today. Why should I go for that? Right? So make sure it's really big. Make. Sure. It's awesome. A big ass school at a Bam. Make it a big Bam goal K.. But let me ask you a question. Have you ever found yourself and I know the answer this because I know you have I'm not smart not in that sense no I've seen it all the time and I had it happened to me all the time too smart are. Have you ever found yourself with goal and you push the pause button. Just Second. Doesn't make sense does it Seriously I decided I really want this. No I want this. I lost sleep over I spent time finding what my big goal was going to be then. At didn't do anything. Or maybe you got excited about it, you get all revved up and you're not moving. Amihai. Revved up and you're excited and moving, but it's not working. Wait a second I don't know which one it is, but but the. In all cases, I'll tell you what I run into. I have the the very, very good fortune of working with lots clients. All Week Long I'm on the phone at one time. I love it I really do I pick up the phone, call him we have a schedule call once a week and I pick up the phone like two or three times how you doing check in on I like to do that. But lots of times say are revved up lots of times they are moving they're trying, but they're not getting the progress they want that's unfamiliar. So I learned over time to ask a couple of questions because that's what I do. I question asks this. Do you know what your goal looks like. And do you really believe you can attain it? If, you can't really clearly see what you want. It's Kinda. Hard to get there. Isn't it? You can understand it can't be really vague, but it's vague drift around. So you need to know what it really looks like, and secondly you need to believe you can get it and it believe that if I work hard enough I've acquired the skillset if I if we put the time in I, can get there. If you don't believe, you can do it. Then you never gonNA go after it. Right. So that's the first thing. Do you believe in the goal and do you know exactly what it looks like? So you can see it when when it's in front of you can grab it. I guess you know depends. Second thing to say, do you have a roadmap for cheating that goal we all need a roadmap your hard wired to have a roadmap. How do you get there? I know we can put a GPS and just turn left when it says turn left right let's not the way it works in life. It really is much more comfortable and as a human were more comfortable in the world, we know what we have to do. So when you look at your goal, you want to go after you believe you can get it and you say this is at least to the best of my ability today were with the knowledge I have today. These are the steps I'm going to take in. This is how I'm GonNa get there if you have a roadmap, you're pretty good shape. Now you got to be flexible. Things are going to change along the way, but you need a place to start to start a middle and an end. So you know, it looks like. You believe you can do it. And you have a roadmap at least to start a place, you can head down that road as Jack Canfield. Said you heading down a dark path you take the first couple of steps in the light start to go on. So maybe you can't see it from here, but you gotta step down that path I. Right? But. Sometimes there's something different in here. Not really doing this longtime ago, and this is basically about being effective in not just busy you've heard before. I'll always ask if these things are already in place I'll say listen the steps you're taking the action steps you're taking every single day. Are they sufficient to reach your goal? He the response I get is usually good question. Also I think. So that's why I asked. It are the steps you're taking sufficient to reach your goal in other words. Are The actions you take actually aligned with the goal and are they going to move forward or the keeping busy?

"I did not go to see this year and I'm Kinda glad I didn't go to see as this year because we look at what's been written about what showed up at the twenty twenty three D.. Printing doesn't seem to be much. They're pretty slim pickens pretty slim. The first thing that at least in the article from Three D. Printing Industry. They Kinda I talk. Talk about the Davinci color the five day then. She's continually to push this notion of a color. Three d printer using inkjet technology. In which color is is while it's laying down the layer and it does work fairly well. I mean it's not bad it works. It's not it's not the highest quality color you get. It's kind of everything I've seen seems kind of bleed e eighty Kinda Fady you you put the color of the base. PLA which you have to use. There's it's kind of off white gray and that kind of changes and washes the colors that are being placed upon it but still bill. It's better than what you're going to get with. A multicolor multi multi filament color such as the pal the MU or tool changer right. It's going to be much much much much more detail on an f. d. m. for an f. the machine however I finally finally got to hear some I feed back on actually using these machines are are acquaintance. Joe Larsen who posted on our forms if you want want to hear in detail exactly what he wrote. Go on our three D. Printing Tips Three D. printing tips and tricks for him and look for Five D. printer thread. It's still up there. And Joe on the a fourth post wrote about his experiences and actually using the Davinci color printer things and he never has told us this before. Oh interesting so he's he's not very happy. He's not very happy with his experiences and it seems that every time he tries tries to use it some chip on the thing blows out now the chip. I think he's talking about is a chip on the SPOOL. Okay because the spools are shipped that was always the DAVINCI model for All their printers were were very inexpensive but then using Using proprietary trying. Trying to lock you at reprioritize filament. He complains that he buys a set of inks that are all brand new showing ninety nine percent full and then suddenly they show zero zero. Yeah plane and the the biggest problem is is that what he tries to contact. DAVINCI takes months to get fixed. Lau Amihai now now. He believes in their their methodology for color printing. And I think I do too. I think it's a a good approach to adding color to edit my the for some applications yeah not not not I mean how many applications really need hi Rez color in annual. I know but it's it's like toys and Hobby But you know it. It looks like it may not be worth while no As far as storing during the ink cartridges. It's going to be the same complication that as two d printing go dry thousand. Wear out quickly. It gets expensive very very very fast. They were supposed to send me one when it first came out and A guy exchange half a dozen emails with somebody at the at the company APP. Nothing ever never happened. But so yeah so if you're like you know rubbing your hands and they want to get that it's going to be like everything else. Take it with a grain of salt. You might be very reduce appointed right quickly and look at the look at the quality of the color you get on the on the prince because I found the of the quality of color. Kinda Canada's appointing. Yeah well it's kind of like if you take a regular peel print and color with like a Sharpie You get this kind of bleed lead affect yes. And and that's just the nature of of Pierre. Lay the layers just kind of wick. The the color and it looks at least from the samples. Apple's I've seen like it. Does that on this printer as well. The only way around that I know is to is to shoot it with primer and then it then it you know you can beautifully l.. Color it But this sprinters not they're just going directly onto the Palais. So there's GonNa be some

Voice for Car Dealerships with Ethan Richardson, Founder of CarSay

"Grow up in the UK and had a career in the chat bots base. And now you work in Boyce in Romania which is a pretty interesting mix. Can you tell us how you got into boys. And why in Romania. Yes right so I was born in the UK in Birmingham and for family reasons. I ended up in Romania so I've always loved tech for a long time since I was like seven years old and I remember my first Amstrad. PC An ember member trying to hack in CODA and it was really interested in from Nen. I've just loved learning and playing with tax cuts in tech. And it's really being a johnny from me. Touchy London Romania Amihai. So be ready to be an interesting and also yeah just being. Here's Mayes to a lot of things that are used to have in the case of C- being remain as a different environments onslow. I'll have to change that to the market. And what would you say is the voice. Landscape like in Romania and Eastern Europe. Right now yes it. That's really interesting. Actually because Romania is a place where Amazon hasn't really landed so to speak so for example to get deliveries from Amazon. You have to go to John Inside and get the United Devices. So voice hasn't really reached the point of being normal and the reason for that is because because of the language area Amazon Alexa doesn't support the Manian and also doesn't and so it's really a luxury to have wanted wanted these speakers and I did some research He recently and is such as about ten percent of people at she owned a small speak in their homes so so that is really low pets in the US and education. Imagine you know. It's not really easy to get your hands on echo dots or Google home to Feis. So that's why it's really a challenge that Jesus speak to be live out because a lot of people don't even know what an Alexa device is so when you're having these conversations with people you're actually starting from the very basics of what is this device sitting in front of you so the has been you know a challenged about the half been a few deaf shops have sprung up and more all developing skills for students outside of Romania. So I could see that changing in the near future when an exile Google start to support the local language and also these devices and locally the very difficult to get your hands on sometimes I have to get these devices imported from the US from the UK. Because you just can't get your hands on an echo and echo shows just not possible. This is really a challenge but as far as voice projects being implemented the hasn't been any no so far so it's really a case of of educate to the market and that what these devices can do more than just controlling music or searching on the light. Slow changing the light colors so you you know. Starting from that point is actually a point of trying to educate the market has been a bit of interest from the business community but as far as you know what Camis knees devices do and actually people want to know about the adoption rates some during in different market areas so there is a bit of interest respite in terms of rolling this out as a viable product for a at that can be sold is. It's at the point where people have really got that dates as behind in terms of adoption customer adoption rights. Such you know make a feasible viable option. So it's quite a neat technology and as as you can say it's it's a challenge here but at the same time it's a great opportunity because I'm on case you know there isn't any competition so for me being here. It's re- me me easy to come the subject matter expert and actually show people what these devices can do so like. I said there's only being ten percent adoption rate of these devices prices so I've had to change the way that I look at voice instead of being in home skill development. I've had JANCI look outside of the box in Siwa what can I do. What can I build is out of home? And these skills have to interact with people outside of the because people just don't have them in hung and it's really a challenge to the businesses and say these advantages that you can actually get from using these devices but I do see that the voice remaining will grow and on if the applications develops that will really fulfill the need and reduce the friction of every day. Hassles I think as a designer and a developer myself I can see voice fits and like I said before coming from the UK. I had a lot of things that I could access. But here things are very the basic and tons of bringing access you have records for example online is not available in San things like this of really behind the Times but it opens up your advised to question things and say well. Why is that like that and lies this during this? And because of that you don't accept the status quo use of question everything. And that's that's how it led to me coming up with 'cause I which is a new idea a new project that such gains traction well again. I congratulate delay you because you know voice even in the. US is still something that you know. We're trying to educate people on so I can imagine in Romania kind of feeling like this one. A person has to feel slightly lonely and intimidating but also really exciting as you kind of pioneer. This concept is that accurate. And maybe how you're feeling definitely it's a lonely space because there's not many people developing skills here. Some developers have tried to hand just to see what the technology can do. But they're all very many people who are trying to core business behind this. I think a lot of people say as a novelty and when I say to people that this is what they can do. They go is nice but they don't really see the business opportunity because of the lack of Romanian support. So I'm sure aw GEICO. Low Amazon soon will support the language and then I will be the fast long stretch be building viable businesses on the back of tests. But like you said is it's lonely place to be but you know reaching out to different people in the UK Meet U S. You know it's really good to see the voice community. Gordon Globally so. I don't think it's just a local often. Golfing people are really amazing things in the UK in Germany and also in the US so it's fun times to be voice. Yeah and you know. All businesses physicist start with solving a problem and yours specifically is within the car dealership space. Can you tell us about your journey. And what led you to creating car. Say Yes yes so The story behind this as quite financially because it all starts from me actually wanting to buy a new car and I actually went to local car dealership which was a near where I live and she just wants expecting to be great information being able to walk out ostby. We are seeing a car and I got there and the salesperson who was assigned to me didn't speak English and it was a bit strange because he looks at me and I looked at him and we were like how we going to do this. And so he ended up Calling one of his clicks. You also didn't speak English so there was a massive language barrier so I ended up walking out with a grocer which was in women so I actually went home. Sought Dan House like that. That's not a good experience. That's not a good customer experience. So I started to their some research online about CAU- dealerships and the challenges is in some of the new developments in the market and realize that it's not just me a lot of car. Dealerships are having problems with the challenges from ability platforms such Suba and also increasing options and leasing analyzed at these dealerships have really struggling to create great customer experiences. And so I did some research and found out that it was an ultra to recall estates. If dealerships experiences improved by seventy two percent then people would visit them more and also Fifty three percent of people would be more likely to buy vehicle if the customer expense improved so I saw that that was a great opportunity to actually use voice in a car dealership because of my situation I

"So we just got here and we are looking for holly bailey political reporter for the post and she's been here since the beginning of the fair falling around with candidates tried trying to talk to them and talking to voters and so what i want to know from her is what is it like being here and what you learn from the iowa state bear. So how have you been good. I've been here for since the day. The fair opened <hes>. It's it's now slowed down on a lot so this. This is not your first time at that. I was you know no it is not. I've been covering the iowa fair since two thousand seven so i'm here. I've been here every year since then. Wow so when you hear. What are you trying to get when you come to iowa state fair is it about like seeing how the candidates are navigating the speiss and and how they're finding away to like have a human moment with voters whereas more about talking to voters and seeing what they are thinking how they're feeling or what are you trying to get. I think it's a combination of both i mean just to step back. Iowa is a state of three million people and a million people or more come to the fair every year. It's a huge huge event. <hes> and i think people think everyone in iowa sort of lining up to go to political events and that's not true you do get a large segment of people who come to the fair who are politically savvy the haven't necessarily seen on the candidates and they're seeing them for the first time so you do when i talk to people and sort of gauge what they're thinking about the race especially this year when there have been so so many candidates state fair oh you know we're entering the final few months before the caucuses and the i was a fair is kind of this political tradition where it divides up the month before where people are sort sort of getting their ground operation together around the fair and then into labor day is when you start seeing the sprint when you see people start spending even more time here you know so obviously i'm always curious about the human moments because this is a chance to see these candidates close and how do they interact with people but i you know one of the things i wanted to see. Here is just sorta. Get a better idea of what the ground game was like here for these candidates like how many volunteers do they have. What is the enthusiasm and so for example on the first day. Joe biden was here and amihai people out with clipboards and they were all these kids and you know when people would come up to them. You know the volunteer would say i just moved here from delaware so that's one hint of who is staffing joe uh-huh biden's campaign here but then you know people get griping because they didn't have stickers or signs or that sort of thing and i overheard the staff saying we'll go to <unk> website you can buy them there and that did not go down well with this little being here is for us to get stickers came out shit stickers. They had for more people with clipboards sort of around taking names elizabeth warren arrived here with fans that she handed out to people which is very important on an eighty five degree day where people are sweltering altering and the heat and then bernie sanders came out and his volunteers talk t shirts and you just sort of get little hints like that i mean it's not like you can immediately say. This is the defining example of what the ground game is here but it is a good chance to sort of get some insight into what's going on here. <hes> i'm thinking behind yeah six months five six six months before people actually start to vote

Dissecting the 2019 Version of 'The Lion King'

"Are here to talk about the twenty thousand nine hundred film the Lion King which is also one thousand nine hundred four film called the Lion King. This is a photo realistic digitally animated reimagining though not quite so creatively reimagined version of the lion king which is of course one of the Canonical Disney new golden teenage classics that has been remade in this series of remakes and boy. There are a lot of things to say about this film. They're not a lot of things to say about. The plot of this film because the plot is exactly the same as the original yes for the most part but Amanda. Let's start this conversation by talking about one thousand nine hundred four wow take take me back to Amanda Dobbins in one thousand nine hundred four entering a movie theater and experiencing the lion king so I would have been nine years old at the time of the release police and I'm trying to remember. I don't remember this actual theater day experience because again I was nine I don't know what are you going to say children children but I have probably seen seen this movie after the fact as much as any other Disney movie that I've seen and I think this soundtrack definitely became a part of my life. We have spent a lot of time on this five guys talking about how much I love Elton. John and I think this was my entry way into Elton on John. <hes> so I the music and those opening notes you make me emotional every single time and I think I'm trying to remember we were talking I went to they were released the lion king the nineteen ninety-four Lion King about ten years. There's an I actually went to see that in theaters which is strained. It's not something I normally do. I don't go in for that type of nostalgia usually but this became the central Disney tax for Amihai for a lot of other people in my generation I think because it's not about princess and it's not about a boy either I mean obviously there are male and female lions but it's just about animals. I think it's about more than just a love story which which is great it brings in a larger audience and I think probably both in terms of story musical achievement. I think it's the peak of the new golden era of Disney I would agree with you and I think that that has evolved over time. This up in this movie was obviously massive box office success. Yes it was later adapted Julie Taymor into a very successful Broadway adaptation. This new version is directed by Jon favreau. Who is one of the I think one of the signature blockbuster film makers of his era so you know this meaningful the movie the original movie was nominated for the two Academy Awards which actually feels quite low in retrospect this is before there was a best animated feature category was not needed for best original score and best original song for can you feel the love tonight? I definitely saw the lion king three or four times in the movie theater really and I was I think I was eleven when the film was released so maybe a little old but I also I think I was very I think Aladdin ensnared me and I got very excited about people like Robin Williams and so the <unk> Immonen Puma aspect the movie. I've done very appealing. I was not quite aware of the Shakespearean hamlet intonations or the biblical Joseph and Moses Story but at the same time I think that this movie is pitched a little older than say Aladdin for that the reason because there are those generational and canonical overtones in it's about fathers and sons and family what we leave behind and responsibility and larger issues. There's there are no oh princesses in this movie which I think is one of the other things to that is significantly different from so many of the classic Canonical Disney movies that we talk about this isn't Cinderella. This isn't sleeping beauty. This isn't even Aladdin in that respect. It's a very male movie. All of the main characters are very male and I wonder if as a kid I I was responding to that unconsciously somehow. I'm sure you were. I think it is also somehow it is very male but somehow feels like less masculine that a lot of I have been handed a lot of male focus. I've caught her throughout my life and especially as a kid and I do think that this opened up a little bit more than it is. Also there are female characters. Nala is not as developed as you might right like but at the end of the other lions you know they're lions can see yourself if you're going to see yourself in an animal. You're going to see yourself in an animal. There's kind of less gender stuff to work with. I'm glad we agree that. This is the peak of the Disney neo golden era the decision to remake. This movie is complex on the one hand. If you listen to our episode about alive and you know that there is really one reason why they're doing this which is money. These movies are making a lot of money. These live action remakes. Some of them are more successful than others. Yes I think Dumbo came out earlier this year and has already been forgotten. That was not very successful these from financial perspective I think creatively there's kind of some cool things in dumbo happening. It's Tim Burton applying his Tim burntness to the Disneyworld which is kind of a kick unto itself. We may look back on in ten years ago. That was interesting. I found beating the beast for example to be utterly dull and pointless and I thought Aladdin was strange and a little bit unnerving and a little bit sexual and why why are the only person person who's like let the genie have his life. Why not I want to be a human? That's part of being a human. Let's make this a sex positive podcast. Okay thank you. The Lion King is different from those movies. Those movies star the sex in this movie. There's there's has no sex in this movie and there's no humans in this movie at all and all those other movies all of these other live action remake Cinderella Kenneth Branagh Cinderella Stars a human being Willy James. The Lion King is completely digitally animated and there are some brilliant people I think chief among them Rob Llegado who is the sort of digital overseer of this whole film the person who has conceived a lot of this new has worked on a great many films Steven Spielberg and Maureen Scorsese in his widely considered one of the premier digital architects of the modern era of movies but there's something you know the the phrase the Uncanny valley has been used frequently in aggressive reviews of this movie because Sedna Valley and there's something unnerving about looking at real life photo realistic ish lions <hes> talking and singing and nuzzling and conquering <hes> the actual physical Ram like manifestation of this movie. How did you feel about it? I think I'm the only person who is really pro. I honestly it's like a nature documentary with Elton John Songs. I'm not mad. I do think I turn to you within ten minutes of this movie starting and was like we should be high right now. We shouldn't in a band because it was a professional experience in the middle of the day and it's important to have boundaries kids in that theater yes exactly so we made the right responsible decision but in terms of the attitude with which I would enjoy seeing this movie I thought it looked looked amazing and I I really do think that as a technical and visual achievement it's beautiful and there and I wanna say two things about that. One is in terms of the it's. It's competition and comparing it with all of the other effects that we have seen. I find it so strange that people don't seem to like this because we have sat through so much true visual garbage in the last two three five years so many blockbuster movies that we see look like trash and their garbled and there's so much C._G._i.. And that's I mean that is certainly true. I think of Superhero movies which I just have stopped taking into account visually because I've just give it up but also a lot of now that we're using more C._G._i.. And Action Movies and honestly just for location stuff so much stuff looks really bad all the time and you can tell that it's fake and I saw that this looked beautiful. I agree with you to an extent. I think that if you look at a lot of the early reviews of the film what you'll see is this kind of phrasing the lion king is an extraordinary breakthrough comma but and the but what is this is creatively dead end and I think you're what your feelings are. I remember this kind of conversation around Avatar. It feels very similar to the one that you're having right Avatar. which is that habit to see Avatar in theaters? I don't know if you saw it in theaters. I assume you did okay you like most humans saw. There is a blizzard in New York and I'd better my house for today's and I gotta go right so Avatar. I remember being completely blown away. I it was a very similar situation where I was not really thinking terribly hard about the world that James Cameron had created but I was inside side of the world and it's sort of movie that when you watch on television does not stand up in quite the same way but it has this ability to surround you an envelope you in what it has created which is from whole cloth the line this lion king. I think is somewhat similar. The problem is we know where the movies going the whole time and so if you are not stoned and you can't fully just appreciate the digital presentation it feels like you're on a road to nowhere and end. I like the I like the story of the Lion King a lot and there are things about this version of the lion king that I think are interesting in well done but I couldn't just help but feel like they stretched out something that I didn't need this moves thirty minutes longer longer than the original film I would say that the voice performances some of which are good most of which are less good than the original which is not what you want true they meet an interesting trace to <hes> interesting choice but I understand how it happens they spent all of their time on the visuals <hes> and it looks spectacular and they did not update this script they they seem to have extended the story little and I think they spent a lot of extra time. Is the the Hyena seen in the chase scenes. Which I think are pretty scary? Yes and I'm curious to see how kids handle they're going to be tougher for your old. I mean that was a little scary in the cartoon yeah because I mean and that's dealing with parent death and real serious stuff but this genuinely mainly frightening an immersive and so I thought that was a great achievement and I think that's where the time goes but they didn't update the actual scripts like there are still lines being said that were written for a children's cartoon soon version of these people and there is a difference between a an what if if is the non pejorative way of saying children's cartoon well how would you you're well but I'm trying to distinguish kind of the nineteen ninety four animation from the new enemy that is something that I wanna talk about a little later in this show but but there is a difference in presentation and style and it's two different types of art and they both require skill and artistry but you expect to different things to come out of the mouths of the nineteen ninety-four Lion and the photo realistic two thousand nine hundred nine no doubt the original film you go back and we watch it and last week on the Internet there was a twitter account that very predictably did a side by side of the ninety four version of the Lion King <hes>. I believe it was the performance of a Kuna Matata. I can't recall specifically which song it was. I think it was gonna Matata and then the new version of accoutrements auto and what you see in the animated version is this almost busby Berkeley. Ask musical execution. The characters are like whirling dervishes. They're doing flips. They're swinging from vines. They're not just walking through the jungle and in the new Kuna Matata it's just a warthog and Amir cat and a lion walking singing and that is just less visually dynamic and it's more difficult to do this sort of photo realistic digital animation that they've done but it's not as fun and the original Lion King is really fun and there's something intellectually absent from this in a way. It's like the in an attempt to be more real. They have lost sight of what was ultimately truly great about the movie. I think that is that is where my head is. I I think that's true. I don't think that this movie like does it to borrow sports metaphor that I barely understand like carried the baller cross the goal line if he will done that state football yes right they don't they don't get there but I I also watched that clip of the side by side and my first thought was wow I nine and was really young and I was at child when I saw this movie and this is a movie it is it does have childlike wonder and what I responded to in this New Lion King and you and I had this conversation after we saw it is it's like it's a different type of imagination. I mean here's my thing what if lions could talk that would be cool as shit if like lions could actually talk and you could just watch them have an actual shakespearian drama and it's not even amber narrating narrating it it's them actually talking and it looked as and it was real life and it looked beautiful and it was shot beautifully as this is that is more exciting to that type of imagination is more exciting to me than total made up worlds ads and total out of nothing fantasy things I just did the things were spinning reality and suddenly it's like these majestic creatures could speak to you. I I find that really exciting and I liked that approach to this movie i. I don't think they leaned into it fully enough. I'm going to ask you unanswerable question. Let's say that there was a movie in Twenty nineteen called the Lion King <hes> that was written designed executed in exactly the same way but the nineteen ninety-four version of the lion king did not exist and this was the first time you're seeing this movie <hes> this story. Do you think you would like it well because you typically do not like quote. Unquote Animated Films Right I. I don't like things that are for children because I'm a grownup and I know that that's like really hard for you to here. It's just unnecessarily. It's just it's just I'll bet you asked me unanswerable Kushner and I'm trying to be very honest if if I could sense and this movie so for children <hes> you know and so much of this stuff where they didn't make it they made it pretty scary but then they're still kind of the goofy numbers and they don't explore a lot of a lot. AWW questions number one. There's no sex had a lot of questions about like the demographics of a Lion Pride yes you there. There are larger political issues that they kind of leave on the table because you got it just like have a a little lion singing a song about you. You know I just can't wait to which I by the way have memorized and I just forgot the title there
