'Jungle Cruise' Navigates Turning the Ride Into a Highly Enjoyable Trip
"To the movies. Next, Pirates of the Caribbean turned a theme park ride into a hit movie franchise. Disney is added again with Jungle Cruise Now in theaters and on Disney, plus and experience, riverboat captain takes a scientist and her brother on a dangerous ride down the Amazon River of all the jungle cruise as you could take. This one is the cheeks but also the most thrilling. It's the African Queen on steroids as Dwayne Johnson find swashbuckling chemistry with Emily Blunt, calling each other Skippy for skipper and pants for her part of feminism. Disney even wades into LGBTQ, plus waters with her brother with admirable matter of fact, this The villains are a little cliche with Jesse Plemons, stereotypical Nazi and BCG can kiss the door who feels derivative, Um, pirates of the Caribbean. Either way, This is a fun throwback adventure, like romancing the stone filled with puns in a beautiful CG setting sailing on an Amazon stream but streaming on Disney. Plus I'm wtlv film critic Jason rarely giving jungle cruise 3.5 out of five stars.

"To have been in multiple stadiums. America is always in If not the top five, like the top seven or eight on every list, and America's gorgeous because they get the I V out and center. Um it's modern, too. At the 20 year old stadium, but it's it's they've kept it so modern. Yeah, they got the new scoreboard. The new scoreboard, you know the effects of the Chevrolet Fountain out in center field. It's incredible, and it's also It's a pictures ballpark, which I like. Because I like how open it is like how how deep it is, and they fit so much in there. It's incredible. I've been to 16 stadiums now. Comm. Erica is I think six on my list, Okay. 16 MLB stadiums. Okay, cool. So yet we've gone through that list before and America is always there always on there. I think America right now is sixth Bet Stadium in the in the MLB, and I think the number one here in Detroit, so I think America Park is a fantastic job. The crew's been amazing there to keep it modern. And, uh, just huge props to American Park. Just incredible place to play. Number two is four field. The dome is a huge factor with that, And the concourse is incredible in there to the brick on the floor. Amazing. Um No for the radio station. We've got to go there a couple times because we do the We usually have the state championships here on the station. So we get to go to the to Ford Field. Walk around, explore a little bit. We get to go to like the tunnels in the locker room and It's just It's just an incredible place to play. The turf is amazing, Um, when you're down on the field and the lights are on, and there's people in the crowd and you get to look around, and it's just a sea of people, Ford Field is a It is a special place to play. Special place to look at. And, uh Elsa at three. We did it, folks. I don't want to bash because I I know it's a great hockey stadium and it's cool that you know the Pistons are back downtown. It's nice, but it was such a premature move to move the Pistons to downtown Detroit. Premature. We knew that it had to happen at some point. But the palace was renovated it and the next year the the next year they go See it. We're gonna blow it up. What? It was one of the biggest NBA venues. The palace was yes. You know, 21,000. Yep. And historic events there. The malice the palace. They won the championship. And it was just, uh it was. It was amazing place to go. The Pell. The concourse had the reflective ceilings. So you get this. That was cool. I like how wide open the L. C. A is, but it's like the same thing all the way around. It's like pictures of former players on the wall. Cool. Yeah, I like the restaurants to the restaurants, Little restaurants and Yeah, I'm I don't know. I think in a little I mean, you see what the price is, too. It's little Caesars Arena and for a little Caesars pizza, it's $45. How does that make sense? They got to recoup. Oh, God. Oh, my goodness. There's nothing around there. What we walk around the L C. A. It's just a parking lot. You can't go anywhere down the street. Yeah, I mean, like, wait states, right, like the business schools right there, But think about it. Whatever highway that is. What is that? 94 75 probably keep the thing but thinking but think about American Park. It one. It's 85 degrees outside after I got was this a day game, then you're like I'm parched. I'm thirsty. I'm thirsty. I'm hungry Hockey Town right there. Right across the street. There's everything right on the queue line. Come on. Now. There's nothing around else. You can't do anything there. There's nothing there. That's why they brought all that stuff around the stadium. Oh, I think it's I think it's terrible. I mean, yeah, I like I like how it looks. I like the outside of that looks cool to watch a game. Specifically basketball. I think you know they could have done a better job with the seating arrangements and whatever, like they had that overhang. Uh up top, I think on both sides of the big red over. It's like I think that's where the press where the press sits, but it blocks everything block. Yes. So if you're if you're top rope, you can't even that huge red overhang is like in your way up the seat. You're sitting right on top of the next person next to you. Yeah, There's no leg room. Um That was kind of thing, Joe Louis too, but it was that was iconic. It's a car. Yeah, I mean, There's there's not history made in the other. I don't know. But the L C eight as modern. I like it, Um, the looks of it, but when you go inside, it's just you feel like you're outdoors. I don't know. I don't know what it is when you're in the concourse or something special at the concourse. It's just the same thing all the way around. Yeah. You think about America At least Get the statues? Yeah, the Ferris wheel Ferris wheels there. You got They even outside the park. I mean, a big tiger statue. Yeah. You got the job and then indoors? Yeah, you got to food, little food course where you walk in, you're like Is this America Park because it's a huge circle. At the carousel there. I think Rebecca Park is easy by far the best stadium in Detroit, and then you got the things around it. Ford Field is right on top of America, which are like Indoors. It's gorgeous. The L C A. I don't know. Doesn't have the girl Has it grown on you guys? What was your first? What was your first thoughts on the initial reaction to the L C A. When you first seen it. I mean, I was there like water right outside, And then the first time I was in. It was for the Pistons blocks playoff matchup when they made the playoffs. Um and I mean, you're talking about the concourse and everything, and I don't know I like how they have those restaurants. They have, like the kid Rock restaurant and stuff like that, And that's one thing because if you're in a stadium with all those restaurants do you have people like Why not Just go to your seat and watch the game like people pay for a ticket and stuff? I don't understand that people pay for a ticket. And they just hang out. You know, in the kid Rock bar all game like, what's the point of that? You know, I I'm not. I'm not a fan of that. But I think they did a cool jobs. Flashy and on the court ain't worth it. Yeah, but, Ah, that's fair point. It's there's 30,000 TVs in every single place. You already can see the game. You can kind of hear it in the background. You're there for the experience, I guess so. I don't know. I was just I just like, you know if I go to a game, I don't leave my seat. You know if you know that's that's how I'm on things like be there for the fan experience, like root on your team. I just don't like people walking around. Looking at the gift shops for an hour and a half like that's my freedom, like the freedom to go around and do it like that. It's different, though, with with with the L. C A. Compared to American Park for hockey and basketball. You want to watch the game? You don't want to walk around the concourse, but for for the MLB, you go. You get there, 30 minutes before first pitch to watch batting practice batting practice. Walk around the concours. It's nice outside. Um, it's a nothing beats a summer day at Comerica Park. Nothing does. But the difference there I maybe it does have to grow on me. The L C A, but right now, my initial thoughts. I've been there, maybe 10 times, and I just not like my experience there at all. Yeah, I just miss you know the Pistons being 15 minutes from my house? Of course. Good for you know the suburbs, right? Yeah, Lot of the, uh, the Pistons fans, but it's also good for the city. It's cool that you're back in downtown. Nobody goes to the games out. Yeah, even because of ticket prices to okay, But here they were, with ticket the ticket prices specifically, right. Oh, goodness, you could get out. You can get $8 seat when they were terrible. And it was. It's $45 for top. It's $45 to go to see your team win 30 games. But when the Pistons were even when they were terrible, like in 2000 When 2013 and they were awful.

Can Toronto Police Itself out of a Homelessness Crisis?
"Jordan heath rawlings. This is the big story. Leilani fara is a former un special reporter on the right to housing. She is currently the global director of the shift which is a movement to secure the right to housing. So the perfect person to talk about what's going on in toronto recently. Hello alani hi there. Thank you for taking the time. Maybe we could just start for people outside of toronto and people who haven't been following it. Tell me about how the city has been handling encampments of an housed people that have formerly at least existed in parks across the city. Yes so with. The pandemic came actually a significant increase in the number of people living in parks across the city of toronto actually across canada. But we're talking about toronto. So i'll keep. I'll keep my comments there. And there are a number of reasons for that but one of them was of course the downsizing of shelters because of the social distancing rules that were part of the prescription to Try to curb the pandemic and so you know. Big shelters became smaller shelters. So let's say there were thirty beds. It might have gone down to fifteen beds. Hundred beds might have gone down to thirty beds and with nowhere to go. A lot of people ended up in parks. There are other reasons as well. As the pandemic ruled on it became increasingly clear that congregate or you know settings where a lot of people reside were becoming Hotbeds of Spread of covert and so a lot of people. Were thinking wait. I think i'm better off even though as really tough living. It's actually some of the living in parks. I actually might survive in a park. Whereas i may not in a shelter and of course we all know. Shelters are really hard places to live at the best of times so so toronto. The city of toronto saw this steep increase in the number of people living in parks and many parks park cats and bigger parks across the city.

What Are Self Check-Ins and When Should You Do Them?
"What is a self check-in well. I made some notes actually little more organized today. But basically a self check-in is an intentional meeting with yourself right. You're checking in with yourself. Your current state of being hard. You're feeling physically mentally emotionally. it's also an opportunity to reconnect with yourself reconnect with what you want. How is life going and what might need to change or do you want to stay the same. I don't think this is something. We often think of in terms of checking with ourselves or setting goals a lot of times. We think of what we wanna change right. I want more of this. I want less of this. We'll get to that in a second but one thing we don't often think of is when external circumstances change right. That are outside of our control. Like maybe you move and you're now in a new area or you know your company is like. Hey you gotta come back into work and you're like Like i gotta make a decision here. Do i want to do that. Maybe there are things in your life that you really like and you want those things to actually say the same. Maybe you want to continue working from home but external circumstances are telling you actually. That's going to change. Maybe there are routines and habits that you now have movie of morning routine you love or maybe you have a new way of eating that you're really loving but something else is going to make that a little more difficult for you to maintain that's a great opportunity to do a self check in to see. How can i keep getting or maintaining the things that i currently have. What are my current circumstances. That i want right so instead of thinking of things that you want to change. You may also have things that you want to stay the same. When should you do self check ins. Well that really depends. I think it's great to do one every quarter right just like you do. Maybe a quarterly business review. It can be really helpful to check in with yourself every quarter and this could mean taking yourself to a park or hanging out with some of your friends and doing it together. Something like that. I also think it's great to do a self check check in again anytime something in your schedule shifts and this may happen for a variety of reasons so it may be a new season. I know for me every time we have daylight saving time or something like that. The light changes in the morning. Or the evening that affects. Maybe when i can go on a walk or when i take my bulldog out right so those are times to do a self check in because self check ins are also a form of scheduling yourself right maintaining some kind of structure or routine something that routes you down into your
Google Plans to Expand Its Campus Which Might Become Unsafe
"Google is expanding its campus in the san francisco bay. Area the companies. Planning to build offices as well as housing and greenspace near the shoreline which is at risk from rising sea levels. And that's raising the question of whether building there should happen at all. Npr's lauren summer has the story as a city planner in silicon valley. Michelle king. here's all about one of the biggest headaches in the bay area housing. Oh my goodness housing. Here is extremely expensive. Sunnyvale has very high cost of living in may the median. Home price in sunnyvale. Where king works was one point. Eight million so the city is looking at a different kind of housing higher density. That's walkable transit and greenspace. It would go into a part of town called moffett park right now. It's just offices lots of low rise buildings with wide parking lots one of the most sustainable things you can do is put people where they work and put people where transit is so. This is a huge opportunity. This isn't just sunnyvale vision. It shared by one of the largest landowners. Moffett park google over the last five years. The company has quietly bought more than seventy properties. Here worth almost three billion dollars. Jeff holtzman is google's director of real estate development for sunnyvale. We're incorporating sustainability into everything we do in our developments and we're doing it to support our employees but also the community and hopefully the environment. Sunnyvale is in the process of rezoning the land to allow google to build new offices and housing and just to know. Google is one of npr's financial supporters. And there's one more detail the city is looking at. This land is on the shore of san francisco bay which puts it right in the path of sea level rise sea level rises already happened. I we've seen about a foot over the last hundred years. Christina hill as a professor of environmental planning at uc berkeley. We're standing on the edge of the bay where a high tide is coming in. Hill says sea level rise will make these tides even higher by as much as seven feet by twenty one hundred. But that's not the only problem there's also seawater in the soil under our feet the groundwater and as the c rises that to- of saltwater under the soil is gonna rise also

Which Walt Disney World Vacation Add-Ons Should You Buy?
"Today we're going to be debating add-ons yes or no right with you know. Well let's just talk about covert because you know well. Have you heard of this thing. This kovic thing so it's like hold. I think it is starting to rise again in multiple places and so on and so forth. But also i've just seen a lot of activity on people booking vacations once again and whether or not there for this summer. The the activity has started with people booking in particular walt disney world vacations. That i'm talking about here or that. We are talking about in this episode. And so when you book your vacation whether or not. It's your very first one or your twenty first one or your hundred. I one you have choices and you have the same choices. Well almost all of them. If you're buying an annual pass whenever those comeback so we wanna talk about these add on because it's a popular topic for return visitors and new guests alike. We're going to start with the park hopper so when you buy your tickets or pass tickets in particular. You have an option to buy the park. Offer it it's an option. It is an option. Should not be an option. Well let's talk about that and we can talk about it in two ways because as we record this here in july park hopper is allowed. But you can't hop until two pm under the current rules which makes it hard. I saw some people talking about four parks. One world sivan planning on doing that for years. You know there should be the cove addition because it's an extra challenge when you can't even make your i hop until two pm which means you have to do three parks after two pm but that aside. What are your thoughts on park hopper cove edition and park hopper normal edition. I mean you should definitely do it. I mean maybe you're not like me. But if i can't park up then i'll just desperately want to go to another park than the one that i was at or that i had booked depending on covert regulations. But i just. I need it so i have the option and oftentimes we will go to one or more parks obviously to more parks in the day and park hopper just as a very quick definition. If you don't know it allows you to go to more than one. Park a day as i said. You can't do that until two pm but you can go back to a park. You can go to three parks. Four parks whatever. It is one more in. Yeah in normal times you can go. You know there's no park pass or any of that stuff so right now you have that extra layer where you have to book a park with your visit will this day. I don't know but you have to go to that park. I and you have to actually go and check in before you can actually use your park hopper option.

"Because they get the I V out and center. Um it's modern, too. At the 20 year old stadium, but it's it's they've kept it so modern. Yeah, they got the new scoreboard. The new scoreboard, you know the effects of the Chevrolet Fountain out in center field. It's incredible, and it's also It's a pictures ballpark, which I like because I like how open it is like how How deep it is, and they fit so much in there. It's incredible. Um, I've been to 16 stadiums now. Comm. Erica is I think six on my list. 16 MLB stadiums. Yeah. Okay, cool. So yet we've gone through that list before and America is always there always on there, and I think America right now is Sixth Best stadium in the in the M O. B, and I think the number one here in Detroit, so I think America Park is a fantastic job. The crew's been amazing there to keep it modern. And, uh, just huge props to American Park just incredible place to play. Number two is four field. The dome is a huge factor with that, and the concourse is incredible in there to the brick on the floor. Amazing, um No for the radio station. Premature. We knew that it had to happen at some point, but the palace was renovated it and the next year they the next year they go see, uh, we're gonna blow it up. What? It was one of the biggest NBA venues. The powers was. Yes. You know, 21,000. Yep. And historic events there. The malice the palace. They won the championship. And it was just, uh it was. It was amazing place to go. Yeah, the Pell. The concourse had the reflective ceilings. So you got this? That was cool. I like how wide open the L. C. A is, but it's like the same thing all the way around. It's like pictures of, uh, former players on the wall. Cool. Yeah. I like the restaurants to the restaurant restaurants and yeah, yeah, I don't know. I think in a little, I mean, you see what the price is, too. It's little Caesars Arena and for a little Caesars pizza, it's $45. How does it make sense? They got to recoup. Oh, God. Oh, my goodness. There's nothing around there. What we walk around the L C. A. It's just a parking lot. You can't go anywhere down the street. Yeah, I mean, like, wait states, right, like the business schools right there, But think about it. Whatever highway that is. What is that? 94 75, probably the thing but thinking but think about America Park. It one. It's 85 degrees outside after I got to see a day game, then you're like Mm. Parched. I'm thirsty. I'm thirsty. I'm hungry. Go to hockey town right there. Right across the street. There's everything right on the queue line. Come on. Now. There's nothing around else. You can't do anything there. There's nothing there. That's why they brought all that stuff around the stadium. I think it's I think it's terrible. I mean, yeah, I like I like how it looks. I like the outside of it looks cool to watch a game specifically basketball. I think you know they could have done a better job with the seating arrangements and whatever, like they have that overhang. Uh up top, I think on both sides of the big red over. It's like I think that's where the press where the press sits, but it blocks everything block. Yes. So if you're if you're top rope, you can't even that huge red overhang is like in your way up and the seat. You're sitting right on top of the next person next to you. There's no leg room. That was kind of thing, Joe Louis too, but it was that was iconic. It's a car. Yeah, I mean, There's there's got to be history made in the other. I don't know. But the L C eight as modern. I like it, Um, the looks of it, but when you go inside, it's just you feel like you're outdoors. I don't know. I don't know what it is when you're in the concourse or something special about the concourse. It's just the same thing all the way around. Yeah. You think about America At least Get the statues? Yeah, the Ferris wheel Ferris wheels there. You got They even outside the park. I mean, a big tiger statue. Yeah. You got the two and then indoors? Yeah. You got to food, little food course where you walk in, you're like Is this America Park because it's a huge circle. Get the carousel there. I mean, I was like, how waters right outside, and then the first time I was in. It was for the Pistons blocks playoff matchup when they made the playoffs. Um and I mean, you're talking about the concourse and everything, and I.

Notching his fifth save of the season I gave Kapler turns into Anthony D. School. Funny to keep the momentum going. DeSclafani is three and one with the 214 Ray on the season. Last time out, he pitched five scoreless and route to victory over the Pirates, even though he didn't feel particularly well now, D Sclafani Pitched for the Reds from 2015. 2020. So it's gonna be emotional, even if he does try to downplay it as the school funny faces his former club. Now the Reds counter with right hander Luis Castillo, who's had a rough start to the season. He has one in five of the year with a hefty E R a Of 771. Castillo got worked in his last appearance, surrendering eight runs and getting bounced in third inning versus the Rockies. All right now, let's get the keys to the game sponsored by Geico, a proud partner of Major League Baseball. Play the field Great American Park. It is a bandbox Last night's game. You got five home runs out of it, so the key to the game is keep swinging Those big bets the giant's hand. The Reds have both hit 56 home runs. Good for second in Major League baseball, and you know, the Reds are going to be swinging out of the shoes because that's really their offense of the Giants can continue to do what they've done all season long, which is limit the damage of the ball, leaving the park while club in a few home runs of their own. I should be any good position. However, if the Giants do find themselves trailing and later innings, the Giants bullpen, they're gonna have to do a better job of handling their business, which is We all know has been a struggle of late for the Giants relievers. "Day baseball coming up in about a half hour here on the big one, And I'm sure you know after covert. We've all been looking forward to this year's baseball season, granted limited attendance and then open and get back up as we close full attendance and, like, right Um, And last year there was like a big hole in our hearts because nobody loves baseball. More than Reds fans do and is far is doing that. But also following the team may be on the road, right. That's also part of the fun, too. There's road trips. There's food, their sights, culture, all sorts of cool stuff. The question is, Where do you go? And what do you do when you go in one of these parks? The answer is in baseball road trips. Timothy Malcolm's on the show on 700 Wlw Timmy's band before any updates. The cat does this every year. The complete got all the ballparks and beer and bites and sites nearby. Tim up for the show, are you I'm great. Thanks for having me. Yeah, Yeah, no problem s. Oh, yeah, It's interesting. You know, we've opened up past Cove it now people are traveling. Things look great. And you want to do a little bit of a road trip, but not every state. Certainly not. Every ballpark is consistent. You go to Reds game and you see how things are handled. Great American ballpark. You go on the road. Um, things are a little bit different there. How do you navigate those covert restrictions that still may be in place? Yeah, I think it's still very fluid right now. So there are two things you can do. Of course, one. We did write about that a little bit in the book about how baseball will be attempting to sort of dress covert over the idea and how it's very different from team to team. But I think what people need to do is kind of check with each team before they make their ticket plane and see what they're doing right because you'll have in some places like garlic in Texas, where they opened the gates for everybody on opening day, and there was a full house and that was a little bit shaky. For some people, the kind of consider and then there's other places like you know, New York, Philadelphia Some of the bigger cities in the East Coast where they were staying up, 25%. We're gonna keep very, very strict. A lot of these ballparks and opening up down to about 50% or so, so that's great news and hopefully by the end of summer, at least we should be hopefully, like 75%, or even more. So in baseball road trips you heard about the 30 cities? What about sense of what's about what's in there about us? Because he always it's like, you know, back in the day you get a phone book, you'd go and see if your name was in there like Steve Martin in the jerk or somebody's writing an article about you or your business. You want to buy newspaper get online and look at it. What's in there about us? What's the dirt? Well, I look great American Park a lot, and we have a couple of sites that I really like in the ballpark. One being the Hall of Fame and Museum. I think it's maybe one of the best Hall of Fame museum experiences you can have in baseball sometimes do have museums in the ballpark in the right. Have a great one, Um, talking about the Crossley terrorists, the riverboat, which I find really fun. One of the best little sex to look at in baseball, and I did a lot of talking about the student drinks in the park and around the park. The bank's area's been really built up really nicely, and that's great. But I wanted to make sure that all the fans were informed about what A Cincinnati style chili was about ways were about what was going to be with you all right, as MIA Cincinnati and you can wear you Am I live in Houston? Okay, Houston, I think you're a feeling from Philly to right. So you don't know trying to explain since he chili Oh, Philly Guy is like trying to teach a dog how to do a card trick. So you can you tell me describe Cincinnati Chili, the people who live in Cincinnati from outsiders here. So what I read the people was such that his style. Chili is actually more like spaghetti sauce. Um, and what you do is there's different ways that you can. You can kind of put that together on a dog. Right? So I think I might be getting this wrong like the first way is what, like like onions in the second wave, meeting onions or like I could be getting a wrong already. So cheese can I change? My Cheech is Cockney. So you got your ways You got onions you get well, you got cheese. You got onions You've got, of course. The chili on there. You've got beans on it goes on from there and that some places do okay. They get wacky and do like jalapenos. Yeah, well, I love lackeys. So just go with the three way you can't go. That's like the basic three weaponry. Well, there's no to where there's a three way. Um, some people, you know, if your little kid you bring your kids like I just want a plain hot dog. Okay, that's not a Cockney. Tony has cheese, and it has The Cincinnati still chilly on the hot dog in the bun and their little tiny hot dogs, too. They're like, Well, not almost like this. There looks like the slider of hot dogs. Let's go with that. Good. Maybe you could put down like 10 of those things. And I feel bad about it all. Or or maybe you could, anyway, So now I think you did a pretty good job. It's Yeah, it's interesting because you come here to go. Okay. Chili found a bull, so it's always served on top of Of long spaghetti noodles and then cheese on top, and there's your three way That's right. All right. So there you go. You're on you got you kind of got it there. Um, All right s o that Cincinnati. Let's let me just break this up. If I were gonna have a bachelor party, we're gonna board do a boy's trip somewhere. Where? What city would you pick on? Um, you know, it's hard to pick which bar is the one go to it? Wrigleyville, But I think there's a place called Jeez, that's really fun. And that makes a great, you know, Day weekend kind of trip because then there's the rest of Chicago. You can see. And of course, you feel White Sox game. If you do a A long weekend sort of thing. If you see one game on Thursday, and another on the Saturday that could work out, Um I also like San Diego. San Diego is a great destination because a weather beautiful 2035 degrees almost every day. You're downtown, the parking in a great position. The Gaslamp district there. And the bars and breweries around that ballpark. I mean, there's there's a ton of them. Some of the best beer you confined in all of America on ballpark has the great Grand Fair selection as well. So you could have Amazing weekend. San Diego. Okay, if you're going family friendly, other end of the spectrum. New family friendly. I really like Jeffords, just those oracle part because they have a lot of family friendly stuff there. Um, also, and I'll be a homer here for this one. But, yes, thank park. They just installed a new attraction of the outdoor called the Yard. Ah, lot of cheese actually have now institute of this where you have.

"The lce when you first seen it? I mean, I was like, how it water right outside, And then the first time I was in. It was for the Pistons Bucks playoff matchup when they made the playoffs. Um and I mean, you're talking about the concourse and everything, And I don't know I like how they have those restaurants have like the kid Rock restaurant and stuff like that. And that's one thing because if you're in a stadium with all those restaurants you have people like, Why not Just go to your seat? Watch the game like people pay for a ticket and stuff. I don't understand that people pay for a ticket. And they just hang out. You know, in the kid Rock bar all game like, what's the point of that? You know, I I'm not. I'm not a fan of that. But I think they don't cool jobs Flashy and the court ain't worth it. Yeah, but that's fair point. It's this 30,000 TVs and every single place. You ready to see the game. You can kind of hear it in the background. You were there for the experience? Yes. So I don't know. I was just I just like, you know if I go to a game, I don't leave my seat. You know totally, You know, that's that's how I'm on things like be there for the fan experience, like root on your team. I just don't like people walking around. Looking at the gift shop for an hour and a half like that's my freedom, like the freedom to go around doing that. Yeah, it's different, though, with the L. C. A. Compared to American Park for hockey and basketball. You want to watch the game? You don't wanna walk around the concourse, but for for the baby, you go. You get there, 30 minutes before first pitch batting practice batting practice. Walk around the concourse. It's nice outside, it's nothing beats a summer day at Comerica Park. Nothing does. But the difference there I may be, does it to grow on me? The L C A. But right now, my initial thoughts. I've been there, maybe 10 times, and I just not like my experience there at all. I just miss you know the Pistons being 15 minutes from my house. And, of course, good for you know the suburbs right out of the Pistons fans, but it's also good for the city. It's cool that you're back in downtown. Nobody goes to the games out. Yeah. Even replacement ticket prices, too. Okay, But here they were. Ticket ticket prices specifically, right? Goodness you could get. You could get $8 seat when they were terrible. And it was $45 for top row $45 to go to see a team when 30 games but when with the pistols were even when they're terrible, like in 2000. When 2013 when they were awful at the at the palace, you go toe. You couldn't go to the Spurs play when they were amazing, and it wasn't completely empty was more. They filled the palace up more often than the CIA. The lce Princess Tina to sell out for the two playoff games. They've had their to change their seats, the color. That's because because, right? Yeah, right. Yeah. There's so empty that they had to put the black covers on it. Like the kind of, uh they also to dim the lights down around. Run the concourse, so it doesn't look as bad on TV. I went to a game. The lce where they asked me to move down to the Lower bowl. Wow. That's how bad the attendance is down. There is who's gonna go to a Pistons game December 13th, whether playing with the pelicans, it's seven o'clock on Wednesday night, like Who's gonna go? Oh, yeah, sure. E get Detroit fans pockets. Yeah, Detroit needs. You know, Detroit needs a pissed. We've always know the pistol to move back down into the Detroit but I think it was so premature. I think they need their own stadium. That's where you're not a fan of the duel, you know, sharing. It works something like the TD Garden. It works like a big big Cities Staples Center. It works. But in Detroit, they Because built the hockey arena go. Okay. The Pistons can play here, too. Even if you still before for the Pistons games. It's like you could tell that the glass was there about 10 minutes before you got there, because the seats go all the way around in your view is obstructed, and it's it's It's not a basketball stadium. I hate it. It's not No Yes, it's so it's modern. Looking on the outside. It's nice. Are you on the inside and you got the pizza pizza man until around the cover. There's there's nothing special about the lce and the inside. There's nothing special about it. If we build a new stadium, at least go the Vegas mode and build like a monster. Yeah, they didn't do that. Yeah, I have Commerical Park number one. We didn't go to my list yet. Okay, let's go. But we're up against sorry. Yes, I would not want not to the L. C. A. I think it's number two, and I think for field is number three. But I don't think there's a loser because I think they're all good. It's just personally, I don't have any memories at Ford Field. You could go there 100 times, But like I literally saw the toilet bowl, I saw Cleveland player the one we're like Stanford, like broke his ribs and still through touching. I was not thinking that's amazing. That's it. It's a good memory I went. I went to L c a handful of times and Had a good time and I like the new stadium, and there were it was other events. It was good I thought was good. I don't think I don't think anybody loses because I think all know those events. I hope I hope it grows on me. I hope it grows on me. I want to enjoy that place. It's Abi Stadium. Baseball's my favorite sports. Obviously, I'm gonna be America's the best. Nothing beats America, partly like Tiger Stadium more than America Park, but.

We'll actually talk about liking being in the car and it it's oftentimes even hear stories. My wife was talking about one recently where women would just like get sick of the kids. Go out and sit in their car. You know turn on the air conditioner right can't seem in Japan is there's a company that yes you can rent you can rent space right you could rent. They're renting it for hours at a time and they're using that time to eat lunch by themselves and the car never moves they literally just sit in the car and I noticed this even years before when I my wife pointed this out because we go to McDonalds in Finland. Sir <unk> mice option was hey you know let's if we do. There is a family thing right. We have three sons lose three of us so let's let's order the the meal through the drive thru and let's. Let's just eat it in the car hard because it's more efficient so my point to her like let's just park after we take up the food and edith and then we can go because she wasn't comfortable driving and eating because she's you know finisher and she she was a gas at the idea that we could sit in the parking lot <hes> either it's very common and if you drive by American parking lots around McDonald's you to plenty of people eating in their cars and it's like getting getting the space value of the car you can listen to your music. You can talk on the phone. You can do whatever you want and it's not comfortable being in the restaurant. That's right and yeah it's noisy and so you end up you end up with this notion that a car is space and cars private space cars actually some of the best face as you have in the world it is you actually only little many times. If you're listening not alone and it's the only place you have of solitude and this is another right and this is another element. I think comes out of you know I dare say the Tech Bro Culture or even the people under thirty who are doing all the changing the world right now. We have a mini van. We have a car pool. We have soccer cleats. That are muddy we have you. You know my my daughters. I can't tell you how many things are probably sitting in the minivan right. Now you know left leftovers sweaters exactly but lost hats whatever now if we were to take an uber from here to the the next soccer game I am sure we would get one star right I think because we would be the worst possible passengers so a lot of this attitude towards technology and towards what the car is going to be make sense within a certain context but all of the other elements of a car whether it's the performance of nature of a car you know you show up in your luxurious Cadillac or even and this is one of the things I think people don't understand you know you show show up in your signaling something. Even if you show up in your ten year old Corolla your signaling something to people you're saying I am not swayed by the fancy car ads I am not consumptive I hi Anne Smart I am sensible and by virtue of the fact and this was true back in the days of the model t by virtue of the fact that I have a sensible logical rational vehicle. I'm making a statement about how now I feel. I am not going to get a fancy lobster for dinner. I'M GONNA get a sensible sandwich yeah the job to be done at the car. Sometimes I break it down into saying we've measured that utility terms awesome <unk> driven or.

"How are you? What up DP listen to you talking about the artists plan their top hits. Right. Well, the dodgers to me are not planning to top hips. I'd be just points. I don't see into in the lineup. You know, they're not playing all their top players. So they're picking the hits they wanna play and listen to well, I like the segue there. I like the segue there. Thank you for helping me out there. But okay, explain the strategy here when you sit I said if you're going to sit jock Peterson fine. You know, I wouldn't sit in Muncie. And in Bellenger, I can't have two of my better players sitting on the bench and getting one at bat. No. I totally agree. I think what's happening is adult is hall really over the whole process. You know, we watched them do the match up thing. Milwaukee set them down this road felt like they could match up unless show what we can do. And for me to go into an American League game and playing American park with a designated hitter. It just doesn't lend to all the moves you have to make there's no double switches. There's no pitcher coming up there in the lineup with somebody on base and massive pets yet that doesn't come into play. And yet they tried to force that in these last two games in Boston. So as a result, I thought their lineup was totally allocated. They took away the the bulk of their their power like you talk about what months balance, and I thought it just it lessen the ten that we've seen mostly your claim. All right now the series shifts to Los Angeles, you have the National League rules here. How does that change? We're going to see a lot of we're going to see a few left-handed bats in the lineup. I'm guessing tomorrow night in Los Angeles. Yeah. They'll load up the left in a lineup. We'll see dot Peterson. We'll see we'll see Muncie, and they'll be a better team for it. But I think what happens in a National League game. And particularly from a player's standpoint. You know, having played on the bench at the end of my career. You know, one of the things you have to do is start preparing your thinking with the manager. Okay. What am I gonna maybe pension run? Am I gonna pinch hit? Am I going to go into play defense? You also the National League game, basically scripts it out for you. It's easier to script, and that's what the dodger front office likes to do is script out a game. Well, National League you can say Arte pitchers going to be up third in the third inning. Maybe we'll make a switch, and we'll go ahead and just kept to hit then. Okay. That works that doesn't work in their Merican league game. So I think you know, we'll double switch. We'll make. We'll have. We'll take Taylor out. We'll. Put Bellinger and center, and we'll do that in the fifth inning. You know, if things work out properly, it's a lot easier to try to determine outcomes. And so we'll see a lot of that from the dodgers. I think they're more conducive to that. Now, the player I can start to Chesapeake when I might be going in or not. The other day stuff like jump back. But you know, we're tying at one and then ios after the game. And we're asking him about you know, what did you do to get ready for the bat when he hit the three run home. They said, well, I knew I wasn't starting Alyssa told me the day before situation comes up be ready. So he's ready for the situation to face would said, I went down to the tunnel. I watch video all town. I news got doing break-up all every time. He had runs scored addition. That's what did so look for he had three run home. That's the difference in the two teams right now preparation. He's Harold Reynolds. Major league baseball network analyst former gold glove winner. Three time the old love winner. Yes. Yes. Three times. How about that? I know I know three time winner..

"Would you go to school for communication marketing advertising? Okay. So when how long after you got out of school before you started phase one I mean immediately. I was really mad. I I had division. It had been instant. Okay. So it's forty minutes is a small town. I always used to joke that it's not six degrees of separation here is to get anywhere in to people that have been here for a little while. And I keep thinking, you know. Firms grown a lot in the last few years, and we we're almost like this overnight sensation, but it's been like six years in the making. Very similar running. I feel like in the last like six months nine months. I've heard a lot about phase one or center on social media heard about Indians my mind, Mike, oh, he must've just started this year. Admitted grind. One of the big, Sean. It took me ten years to become overnight. Yeah. Actually, we we started phase one in two thousand three and when I say started what that meant for me was I started training athletes in my backyard parks fields. You know, we'd find a field if the gays close we jump it. Accurate. Yeah. Yeah. How we started running and. And then on the business side. I had no clue of business. You know? You know, my parents were Archer preneurs, I would say for sure, but never any structure never need, you know, the corporations and all the crazy stuff. So so what I did. I went to the best move. I made someone said let me back up a step. I'm on a field one day, and it had grown to the point where Saturday morning, we will go to all American park and do like speed training different things. Started to kids three kids. Of course, they bring a friend. It's five kids. Ten bucks? Ten dollar Bill handed to me to go. Awesome. Make some money weekend gig got it. So I look out one day, and there's about thirty two kids out there, and I'm like, whoa. Dan about two minutes later below truck pulls up in the public safety. Whatever I need to see your your permit, your license. You know, the the permit to use the field, and I'm like. The house. Talking about. So literally literally we got kicked off the field. Of course, the parents are super cool, and they got it. They understood I was twenty twenty five at that time relied young entrepreneurs out here hustling and getting it down, but he doesn't have a license web's nothing. So so I made a gentleman he tells me you need to go see a lady named Anna for Nevada, micro enterprise. So I'm like cool. Got it set up a point with Anna going in. She's like, all right. What do you want to do? I'm like already starting my training athletes, helping kids get scholarships phase one sports, she like awesome. Give me a business plan. I'm like what how does that work? She gives me this print out of competitive analysis and market analysis and finances, and I'm just like overwhelmed, and she's I don't come back to done. So I go spin, of course, month trying to put together business plan. I come back. She looks at it. She hands it back to me. Like not good enough. I come back the second time, she handed it back to me. And she's like you have a copy of it. Oh my gosh. She's at perfect. She rips it up. She said now I want to know that businesses forever changing. And you'll never be set to exactly what you wrote. But the fact that you took the time to put it together, let's me know your series. And I'm like now in the most confused. Forty five. Lady I just did more research on that than all my years of college combined because now I'm passionate about it. Yeah. I care so much. Yeah. So that that's how the business started in fast forward to today. We have a twenty thousand square foot facility here in Vegas. We just opened our second location off around part in Vegas drive in the north west area. We just opened one inside the Las Vegas sports park there. We also have a location in Hawaii, which is doing pretty well there. And and it's just been man a passion project that back. Right. You mentioned. Entrepreneurs. Get tripped up as you have this great idea of what I wanna do man. There's a lot of business goes into it. Yes. And that's what trips a lot of people on you better. Not only work, you know, in your business. You've got to work on your business for she's wondering entourage told me years past you mentioned, your your your folks be an entrepreneur, I was gonna ask right where where it comes from for certain people where there's a quota set it on the show before I credited to Thomas Jefferson is I believe who who said it was, you know, I choose dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery. Yeah. Starting your own business is a dangerous freedom. Yeah. Right. And so what what was it for you to me you say, I don't want to punch someone else's clock. I want to kind of forge is on my own. I mean, it's exactly that. I mean, I think my dad instilled a lot of it. Because he was a truck driver owned a few trucks at one point. And then but just never got a grip on the management side. So ended up selling them, and you know, kind of retiring, and and so I looked at that experience. And my dad was say, you know, if you if you if all the money you make with your own two hands you never have enough. And I was like that one twelve okay? I just want to go to store. You know, I think that kind of mentality even though even though he was considered. I was I sell for employees, not necessarily business owner. But and then my mother on the other hand daycare center, growing up, compassionate, home care. She does you know works with mentally ill adults. So she always had that the caring side. Yeah. And arts preneurs ship combined. So I think just growing up in that environment manages having that mindset of like, you know, I want my own freedom. I want to build something. I don't mind working. I'm one of those guys I'll stay up all night to try to complete a project. So I think it was just an embedded at a young age. But then as I got older, I learned that. I gotta invest a lot of time. If this is what I really want. And and even today, I have no problem doing that. To hear the background with your mom ever shows itself. And what it is. You do what you're giving back and how you're trying to grow. Obviously, you know, the the losses from your father as far as you know, I've all the money you're gonna make your own two hands. You remember that was so long ago? It's twelve it's still early that much of a memory if you then you kind of pivoted a little bit. You said, yeah, your dad was self employed. We talked to a lot of our clients who were business owners differs between owning a business and only job. Yeah. You've got to be there all the time to make it run. You own a job. Yes, exactly, I'm business. You've got to be able to separate from. So we'll be back with Mike waters.
