We're talking about a health system. And that is Bryan Hayes and Brian is a public relations director for the Anne Arbor, Va. And Brian. Welcome to Veterans Radio. Hey, Dale. Thanks. Glad to be back clan Have you back? How are things going up there? Well, things are going really well for us. I mean, we're you know, we're still under quite a bit of restrictions as Faras. Visitors go and how patient things like that. But We are sort of opening things up a little bit. We're calling it the new normal. You know where folks are now able to bring in, you know, 11 visitor with them. You know a caretaker or something because they have an appointment. Doing a lot more face to face appointments. Now our surgery is almost up, Tio full speed. You know, It's not quite full speed yet, but it's up there. We're doing a lot of work and Doing the work that the veterans need us to do. We're also hiring a lot right now to case you haven't heard. We've a lot of a lot of community health care systems are kind of hurting through the coded crisis. Some of you are even talking bankruptcy. But a is hiring we need. We need health technicians We need especially nurses, particularly I c u nurse is right now we're in desperate need of I C u nurses and and even administrative folks. We need the administrative folks to back up all the clinical folks, And so that's that's kind of what's going on now and future. We've got quite a few things going on. Oh, you know, we're renaming the facility. As you remember. We talked last month were in the process of going through both chambers of Congress Right now, the renaming of the medical center to the Lieutenant Colonel Charles Kettles, Va Medical Center. We're going to remain a and R for health care system, but the hospital is getting in the game. I meant only that we also got our new intensive care unit will be coming online in just a couple of months. We're looking at mid September. For that. It's a brand new state of the art high tech intensive care unit. That's coming on or it was also getting ready to hopefully to a groundbreaking for our cannon, community based outpatient clinic coming up. We're scheduling that maybe for September. It could be early October, depending on Congressional schedules and things like that, and then some of the things that we have going on right now it's it's pretty busy for us at the time Clad to hear that you are are busy. There's lots of great information out there about the system number one is. I just got a news release the other day that thief, a surgical care is a better, too, or equivalent to non VA hospitals. I can attest to that. That's a research study that came out. I believe it was out of Dartmouth University about a year and 1/2 ago. Um, that showed that ah, the quality of care. Is that good or better and community hospitals by almost every metric every measure that have used one of our issues, you know that we have a B a nurse's way. We've got such stiff competition for nurses. Particularly in Ann Arbor. You know, with the education system that air here and also the whole, our health care system in the area of you know, it's just It's just really. It's very competitive for nurses and to keep him quote. So we like a little bit in that when it comes to the metrics of quality, But Faras patients getting their care were right up there with the best of them. And there was also a study that came out not too long ago from the Journal of the American Medical Association that show that waiter For the are actually better than community care. You know, for example, just I'm just gonna pull this around the top of my head. If you wanted a dermatology appointment at Via might take you a little longer than 30 days. Which is our our hearts the bar that we try to hit. I might take you 40 45 days to get a dermatology appointment, But you won't get that appointment anywhere else for six months. So So when we talk about comparing, you know, when we talk about wait times you have to say compared to what? Right Absolutely one of those is compared to black because I I have an appointment with a quote. I can't say this out loud. I guess a civilian dermatologist next October. I think it is so on. I feel fortunate to get that, but I know that there are other things going on. And maybe we could wait. Bring on our other two cats to talk a little bit about the funding that's happening in the budget. And so forth. But there was one other program. But then I saw that there were expanding funding for the emergency response for veterans experience.

Stay Dry for about two months and off to the races again. I became terribly weak. Couldn't eat and try to get nourishment from booze and mostly only bootleg that one time. I just made it to a hospital and another time. A police patrol took me to the hospital. Instead of jail. I suffered badly from insomnia as many as three shots in the arm had no effect I would get in shape and back at it again. I was going to battle to finish. The time came when I was to be paid. My soldiers bonus I had the limit or maximum coming friends. Advise my folks to send me to a veteran's hospital before I got this money in my hands. I was pro baited again. Held in a county jail for two weeks and sent again to the asylum. This was my summer resort for three months. I was on the waiting list for the Veterans Hospital but I got into such wonderful physical condition from eating and working out of doors that I was released. I reached home full of resentment against my folks for their having my money tied up in a guardianship I went out and got saturated and landed in jail. I had been free from the asylum for about eight hours behind the bars again. So soon this was bad however I was freed again the next day and this was my last confinement with the law. I began to use my head. I continued to drink but kept undercover or hid in the jungles with the bums. In a few months. An old friend came along. He located me a few times in saloons. We had been drinking pals in the early days particularly at the clubhouses. He had heard of my predicament. He himself had quit drinking and looked fine. He encouraged me to visit him in a nearby city. I wanted to quit drinking but hadn't much faith in ever getting away from it. I agreed to go into a hospital as a patient of a doctor who had been an alcoholic for many years and was now a new man. It is almost uncanny and just eight days. I left there different person. This winter in plain words was a wonderful guy. He spent many hours with me telling me his experience with alcohol others of his band which was then small visited me told me their stories. They were all strangers to me but treated me as a friend. I was impressed with their interest and fellowship. I learned the secret. They had a religious experience. I was willing and renewed my acquaintance with God and acknowledged him as a reality. I found it easy. I came to life and had been free now for two. I hope never to take another drink. I am building up reputation again and nearly every day am complimented on my appearance. I have a new outlook on life. I look forward to each day with happiness. Because of the real enjoyment it is to me to be sane sober and respectable. I was existing really from one drink until the next with no perception about circumstances conditions or even nature's elements my acquaintance with God lost and forgotten. When I was a young man is renewed. God is all loving and all forgiving. The memories of my past are being dimmed by the life. I now aspire to. "A handle on the law by bill i'm a disabled veteran and i belong to a american legion post here in pomona and you know we paid dues to the american legion and by chance i heard a a rumor so i got on on the internet and lo and behold the property taxes on that property haven't been paid for four years the the officers in charge haven't met haven't paid the the property taxes now that property is going to go to the tax collector and they're gonna close it up and auction at all they are well is there any recourse not in terms other than paying taxes no however i bliss talk about who the leadership is is added elected board that runs the that the that outpost of whatever they call it right the american legion yeah okay and so what they're doing is they have been negligent all obviously yeah all right so you have to get them off the board clearly and start i would just start gosh negotiating with the tax authorities but is there anything you can do as an individual without being on that not really you can make a motion to get him off the board according to the rules of that lesion hall i think they call a ma halls right yeah close call halls yet you can make you can walk in and i'm assuming as a member to look at the rules it's a nonprofit and so they're all kinds of rules involved in the creation of the nonprofit and what happens how people deal with it how do you remove officers i mean all of that it's in it's in the paper work and you make motion at what and they have to have a board meeting yeah make motion or you ask for a general election or whatever the way the rules are the way they're written to get these guys off get some one on and then to start saving the building if you can and i don't know what kind of liability they have as individuals because what are your damages so you don't have a whole anymore to work out if okay is that is that enough and how much they paid they pay the taxes do they buy back from whoever owns it after the foreclosure i have no idea what you have to get on the board is.
