He'd warned him of any plan. By president trump. Nothing to see here. All right let's not jump to conclusions. You know what this is about. We all know this is the establishment. This is what the beast was so terrified of when trump was elected. This is what they were so worried about. Because trump went in and said i'm anti-establishment. I don't like these coalitions. I don't like a war with no with no conclusion or no outcome plant. I don't like rhinos. Who are in cahoots with big tech. I mean he. He wanted to just upset the apple cart in a way that infuriated them. It's not about as tweets. It's not about his personality or his disposition. It's about the way he tried to up. End the establishment and he largely.
China is Courting the Taliban: What Do Islam and Communism Have in Common?
"What do islam and communism have in common. Of course they're very different. And i completely agree but they do have some common elements even historically in the bolshevik revolution in the early nineteen hundreds they found camaraderie but also the fact is different as they are. They both operate under the idea that there is a totalitarian mindset that if you don't succumb to radical islam or toco and ism the power of the state that ultimately you will face pressure economic pressure or he'll be killed and i began to think when the book revelation talks about how those who don't receive the mark of the beast and i don't want to get into speculation why that is but it says that they will be beheaded think about it what modern religion or religious institution still infamously beheads. People that disagree or don't succumb to their authority. chris. Forgive me for interrupting. But i don't remember the scripture that it says the people will be beheaded actually says that we'll talk about that they would give their head. Yes and i wish. I had the verse in front of me. I didn't people can look it up. It's fascinating i mean. I know but i hadn't heard that okay so you know. Obviously everybody knows understands anybody that's seen You know the videos of isis radical islam. That's one of the main methods of Punishment that they inflict Upon people who go against them and so that's what communism and radical islam have in common is if you do not totally submit or totally succumb totally pay legions to those two systems. One religious one political. It's total dominance and even brutal brutality. And so i saw this july twenty third and the twenty fourth. There was no evidence at the time. that this was happening and i shared it with a few people. And what was interesting. Eric and people can look this up if they want to google it. Or whatever by the twenty ninth of july twenty twenty one. They were already news articles. That were coming out that were saying. Why has the chinese government invited taliban leaders to sit down for talks. Why in even since the fall of Of afghanistan there have been all kinds of articles mainstream media articles written about this strange bizarre connection in china and the taliban and watch china's interest with afghanistan.
Turning the Spotlight on Ballet With Author Chloe Angyal
"Clothing angel. And i am a journalist and autho and the author of the new book turning point how a new generation of dances is saving ballet from itself which is a reported work about ballet and about the future of ballet about what has to change to make sure that bali is safe and fair and relevant an equitable off foam that can survive and thrive in the twentieth century. Yes steve written this new book that pulls a curtain back on the ballet world. And now i'm going to do the thing that i always hate when people do to me from doing it to you and i'm going to read the first paragraph of your book at you i can also i can also recite it for you. Buy hot. i'm not going to. But i could do to events so i think i could probably do it do verbatim. It's perfect. so this is. I mean you set it up really quickly for the reader. Write quote every day and dance studios all across america legions of children lineup at the bar and take a ballet class. This book is about what they learned. They're not just about dance but about gender race and power about the value of their bodies and minds about their place in the world. Both in and outside of dance. We're definitely going to get to some of that in a minute but first khloe. Let's get the tough question out of the way because you're here. Burn down feminist. Sports podcast is ballet sport. It doesn't matter this is a this is a debate that periodically royals. The dance world is dance. A sport is at an is it bones it somehow some of the food category and what i usually say is whether or not ballet is. A sport is kind of irrelevant because dances get injured like athletes and get paid as well as artists. They sustain the kind of physical toll that athletes do with none of the support and very little the cultural respect and resources that athletes get and so whether or not they full into either categories. Really irrelevant. I'm sort of more interested. In what their experiences are rather than what label we should be slapping on them
When Did Marriage Become so Hard?
"To understand marriage. Today we thought it best to go back to a time and place when marriage was very different. Well i've been studying the history of family for many many years. But i specifically got interested in marriage as we got into these debates. About what traditional marriage was that. Stephanie coons. She's a professor at the evergreen state college and the author of the book marriage a history. Stephanie says the earliest marriages had nothing to do with the feelings of two people or their attraction to one. Another as you probably know marriage was much more about economics and acquiring powerful inlaws marriage originally arose in more egalitarian ban level societies as a way of sharing resources and establishing a peaceful relations with groups. That you might otherwise only see occasionally and you might not know if they were going to be friends or enemies It was a way of circulating obligations and goods. Mary my child off to you and that means you owe me things. But i also you things. Stephanie brought up a famous example from history. The union between cleopatra of egypt and mark antony of rome elizabeth taylor as cleopatra siren of the niles this is from a nineteen sixty three film version. Richard burton as mark antony impetuous leader once in pinson legion dreaded adversary on the field of battle. The hollywood version of the story portrays cleopatra and antony as being very much in love but stephanie paints a slightly different picture. I think the theme song for that Relationship could have been what's love got to do with it. They may have been passionate but it was more passion for power than a sexual. Although sexual probably entered into it to cleopatra and antony marriage was primarily about strategy wrong egypt with the two most powerful empires in the world so getting them anybody who got them together and the gotten alliance between them would be unstoppable.

A Simple Reason Why Not to Push for a Vaccine Mandate
"The listening audience? So my point here is a rather simple one. Not crudely made, but common sense. You have no idea. My neighbor is you don't know his name. You don't know what he does. Therefore, if you don't know his name or what he does you probably know nothing about his medical condition his medical history. If he's been infected with Covid or not, if he has a condition like Brian Deane, right on social media, some vascular condition that could maybe prohibit him from getting a vaccine for various health reasons. You have no idea you don't even know his name. Forget about any of the details of his life. Yet you want to push a nationwide mandate pushed down through private companies. You're pressuring it to doing it for everybody to get a vaccine and just to be clear you don't know them. You don't know their names. You don't know their health conditions. If they've had covid, you know nothing about them. But you want a national vaccine method. Please digest that for a moment. The mandate supporters out there. No matter where you stay again, I know it's hard. I know you already trying to think through a counterpunch because what you're processing makes sense. And you're like, Gosh, if it makes sense, I've got to flush it down the toilet because I'm a liberal, and I don't want it to make sense candidly, even if you're a Republican who support system You don't know anything about these people. You don't know if they're going through a condition like Brian Deane, right is by the way I know him only from Fox News. We're not besties. I didn't call him and say Hey, tweet this before my show so I can talk about a vaccine mandate on my show. I just literally read it during the break. I got a quick bite to eat before I came bounced up in my studio here for the radio program. And I thought this is it. This is a perfect example of what I'm trying to say. Legions of Americans have been vaccinated. Listen, ladies and gentlemen, I never lie to you. I'm one of them. I have lymphoma. It's a cancer above of the blood of your immune system. You can your immune system gets compromised. My doctor told me. I think it's a smart thing for you to do after chemo. That was when my doctor said I don't know what your doctor told you. I'm
1989 Washington Post Article Details How Professors Use Marxism to Indoctrinate Students
"1989 Washington Post piece that talks about how Marxism is. Really being, uh, really common. Now in our universities, and, uh In college is how the hell it's been assimilated into the systems. Diversity is now the signature of once monolithic Marxism. Writes the reporter. Professor Spivak, who teaches English at the University of Pittsburgh, calls herself a Marxist feminist. Professor Romer, economics professor at the University of California. Davis designs Marxist market driven economies. And Erik Olin Wright of sociology professor at the University of Wisconsin, calls himself an analytic Marxist seeking to break marks his grand theories down into their component parts. This is It was amazing as they spent. Was 12 months or so into this book, and I found this article. Which sort of undergirded everything I was saying. Because you can see it. You can smell it. You can touch it. So while this reporter Barry injures expose is quite accurate. The consequences of multifaceted applications of Marxism are manifest today throughout modern America. The brash marks us as she wrote, still exist, and their numbers are growing both on campus and throughout the society, culture and government. Everything We Learned About the Bitcoin Mining Council
"In december elon musk. Michael sailor started tweeting back and forth a bit. Bitcoin were already in the modality of companies. Adding bitcoin to their treasury and sailor had already emerged as one of the top evangelists. Of course this got tongues wagging at the end of january. Ilan changed his profile to read bitcoin and tweeted. In retrospect it was inevitable in february tesla announced that it had purchased one point five billion dollars in bitcoin and that it would start to accept bitcoin for payment for vehicles. Bitcoin cheer and our bags. Rejoice as we're rocketed up the next leg of the bull run but it wouldn't be a good story without a dramatic arc. Now would it almost immediately. We saw the downsides of ilan's involvement to go right along with the upside of price. Those downsides included one the alignment with an unpredictable twitter user. More likely to show those than to do. Anything that bolstered bitcoin and to the scorn and condemnation of the legions out there who dislike elon that second category includes many who profess to care about the environment who basically view tesla or ilan himself as a great green washer. How Does Tik Tok Lead Generation Ads Work
"Last year since it really grew. And hey should i be on tiktok that you know as my audience there and so that's what i really wanted to talk to you about recently. Tiktok launched legion as one of the campaign objectives and it really just copies the campaign objectives from google from facebook from linked in twitter. And you'll notice if you're setting if you're setting up in ads account on any of those platforms. One of the first things that are going to do when you're looking at the ads. Creation is choosing the audience right. That's one of the things but the first step is really choosing the objective. And so if you go on tiktok in the ads manager part of tiktok you can see that. They now offer lead generation as one of the objectives right so if you wanna generate leads beat a b. or b. two c. It's there for tiktok whether it's gonna work for your business or your product or service or industry it. You'll need to test. I am testing it right now with a couple different clients. I'm testing it with my podcast. I actually just set up a lead gen campaign on tiktok for fifty dollars to run over the course of actually sixty dollars over the course of. I believe it's three days. So that's the minimum or you can choose the other minimum which is Twenty dollars a day but if we look at the audience the way i see it as this sixty two percent of all tiktokers are in the. Us are between the ages of ten and twenty nine. so that's not my audience. I know my audience the majority of the decision makers that i worked with them daily basis as a b. two b. service provider. My audience is forty five to sixty five years old. That's those are the people that are almost always making the decisions on building account. So you have to figure out if you're a b. two b. is your audience there presumably if they're telling me that sixty two percent or ten twenty nine than the other thirty percent are thirty years to sixty five years. Don't but i don't know a lot of adults who are of a you know even my my age category genetics Spending too much time on tiktok nevertheless even if you can get a small audience and generate some leads. Hey you wanna be creating brand awareness. If your lifestyle brand you sell products and

"Aircraft weapons systems specialist on F 15 in F 16 fighter jets, which is very, very cool on. So thank you for joining us. But the interesting thing I saw right at the bottom of your bios that you're from Massapequa Long Island. Is that right? Yes, Yes, That's true while you were born and raised. I don't know if you're familiar, but our producer Brian Mongol Luch Gallucci with Colin Mongol. He's ah Massapequa boy himself. So it's I'm sure it's very nice to have Brian be able to listen to one of his compatriots from home, Brian, Absolutely. Would you like to say anything? Tio, Mr O'Leary? Well, that you've come for your Your service to the country and everything. And maybe we'll bump into each other. Absolutely amassed a high school class of 2006 0. All right, That's why I recently moved there. So it wasn't born and raised in Massapequa. But even though we'd like to say he was tell us a little bit about town, it's very patriotic. Yes, tell us a little bit about your organization Veterans of New York. Um so veterans of support groups for military veterans in New York City, So we're based out of the city here and the way the way that it came about I founded in 2006 is because Um, I had I was out of the military and then I went to school and I graduated and You know, I'm just out in the workforce doing real estate because I work in the real estate business, and I was looking around for different organizations to join. And as you guys know, the V F W in the American Legion doesn't have very much of a president's here in our city anymore. So that was that was the reason why I decided to start my own group because I felt that there was a need for for something like this, and there are some great organizations in AA. A city like United World War veteran counsel. I mean, where would we be without them on the parade, But with that said, there's there's a need for more, You know, because they can only do so much. You know an example there's There's 200,000 veterans in New York City alone, and there's only a handful of organizations so there's definitely a need for it. So you know if if I lived in Long Island still or upstate, I probably would have just joined like a local American Legion, where they're much more active, but You know that? That's how it came about and what we do is we we connect veterans and we hope we host mostly like social type of events like sports games. We did a running event recently. And so we do those type of events. We also have been doing Ah, digital virtual roll calls as well to connect veterans and were mostly veterans in the city. But we're also connected with people upstate in Long Island, and we're also very well connected with other Veteran organizations in the city. So you know we're always collaborating with other groups and you know open Teo, you know, doing events with other organisations. Like w F. You see in the future. So you know, I'm really excited to be here and just, you know, to have the opportunity to speak, but to speak with everybody and you know to thank all the veterans out there today for their service. More Colin O'Leary, You were a aircraft weapon system Specialists on F fifteen's An F 16 fighter jets correct. Yes, Yes. Well, today, the United States Air Force has announced that it is putting what they call now. Death rays. On their fighter jets. Did you ever have any notion that in the future after you, Ed served That the weapons specialists of today would be arming at 15th and F Sixteens with death race. Well, if you think about it that we, you know, we already have. That was all the missiles and the bomb. So what do you What do you mean by death rays, like shooting air to air or No, it goes. It's almost like futuristic. You know how you would take somebody out Starwars right with a laser and boom. They're gone. It's it's like future future is now with the United States Air Force. Well, I know that the military has been conducting, like futurist, futuristic or fair for a long time with the drones and all this advanced technology. So you know, at one point people didn't even think that We'd be able to fly so nothing. You know, I believe that that's definitely in the future. Hopefully, you know, it's not use a lotto. Alright, we'll certainly want Tio. Thank you not only for your service but for taking care of so many other veterans with the New York City based veterans organization called Veterans of New York that was Colin O'Leary. "We partnered with the American Legion here for many, many years. Jeremy will settler. The service officer has been in our building on and is just an incredible advocate. This is some areas that have concerns Or maybe just to say that, you know you guys are doing a good job. So so heaven. That type of presence in the building in an addition to the support that Commander Devora and the leadership from the American Legion provides us Rum and your story. I mean, it makes a big difference on how we're viewed by veterans and how veterans are supporting us in the hospital and in the community. So so we've Wait really value that relationship and we couldn't be successful if we didn't have that kind of relationship with certainly. The American Legion and with all of our service organizations that slandered Warrick and you just tell us a little bit. Jeremy works for you and the American Legion, and he's out there helping veterans with their with their claims. If they had some type of an injury or some medical problems do their service. You know, we've we've You know, way really know that in order to be successful. In a whole variety of things, in particular those two priority areas. It really takes really all hands. The Legion has been a great partner in that. And Tom, I also want to mention that I have a minute that You know the number of volunteer hours and volunteer in kind donations and other levels of support. By the American Legion members is a phenomenal here Last year it was almost a million dollars worth of ours and support. And last year we were a little bit down because we're just hard for getting people to work in the building because of the cold. But that's typical of the kind of support we get from the American Legion. Voluntary hours Donations Support service officer in the building the whole variety of things. Which help us to be successful, not only in the two things you mentioned, but in a hole in a whole host of other ways as well. And director. I understand recently that the American Legion donated some ipads Yeah, We had a great events out here. So we had 50 £50 that were donated Part of Operation Come for warriors, and so Commander. The Borax deputy was here. Jeremy was here and then the and the representative staff from Apple were here giving us the eye pads and you know, you can imagine these days when veterans can't have visitors, or it's difficult to see their families. For them to be connected, especially in our community Living center has just been golden because now they're able to use those ipads to communicate with family and loved ones and or or just, you know, keep up on the news. In ways that they weren't able to do that. Previously. So yeah. 50 ipads Operation Comfort warriors. It was really nice about we out here. Band director over the years. The American Legion is also contributed to help with the transporting our veterans to and from their medical appointments. Hey, You can imagine a lot of our veterans not only in the metro area, but really throughout the state are limited by their ability to transport themselves, and sometimes they don't have the support. Network or caregivers available to help with that. So the legion certainly the AA county veteran service bands, a ll kinds of help. With that, but you have the legion again, just one of the many areas where they support veterans throughout the state of Minnesota. Wintered Warrick. I don't think I think there's probably a lot of American Legion members that don't know how closely you work with the Minneapolis, Va. Healthcare Center. Sounds like a really healthy relationship. Yes, it is common. I wantto thank director Kelli again for the nice comments. And you know, we tried. You know, Jeremy does a monthly article in the Legionnaire, which is, you know, get all over the place, and he does a wonderful job explaining what he's doing for the bedrooms and how he works with Of a hospital in Minneapolis. There And you think I could be more proud of the job? I have because I beat like like you said Director Kelly bladder, great people, the American Legion that I just watch him do what they're best at that voluntary and And getting the job done for veterans. Very good, sir. Director Kelly, thanks for joining us skin today and glad to hear about your relationship with the American Legion. Thanks, Tom. And commended Boric. Thank you, sir. Thank you, sir. Mr. Director Kelly. We're just about out of time. Thanks for listening to this edition of Minnesota Military radio like to thank our guests for joining us this week. "It's the David Winstead Zenith City Post, and they've been around since well, David Winstead been around since the 1919 and before the whole pandemic hit. This post was Going to go virtual, and the reason being is they don't have a post home. They're trying to attract our younger veterans, and we all know our younger veterans are chasing life, Jason careers Family commitments, and they just don't have time to commit to the American Legion as we would like them, too, But with that said, we welcome him in with open arms and Their time will come when they could do more for the American Legion. So this virtual post came into being so They can meet over the Internet, You know, be a zoom and they were making plans prior to the pandemic to institute this But once Kovac, 19 hit, it sort of sped up the The timeline and they went virtual. So they've been meeting on a regular basis virtually through. Ah zoom. They haven't electronic newsletter out there they do everything by email. And by Zoom right now, um they do hope one day, you know, meet in person once or twice a year just to put a face with the voices, you know, but I think this is might be a little bit of the future. There are other virtual posts. Out there nationally, and a couple of them are in our college are your universities and Ah, I just think this is a good way to engage our younger veterans. Without them, having to come into a post and sit down and go face to face or speaking with Mike Maximum Department of Minnesota American Legion, agin it on Minnesota military radio. Mike. I can remember when I came back from Vietnam and I wandered into the post over at Hopkins in World War. Two guys kind of had me signed up all at once, and all I heard for years after that was go get your fellow Vietnam veterans and get him in here. And, of course, now with Vietnam veterans were saying, Where do we? How do we go get thes younger troops to join and it's it sounds to me like, you know, All of our younger people are on the Internet. They're online. They're busy as you say they starting careers. They're starting families They're doing all these things sounds to me like you might have found a real good way to get some of them involved. Keep the time involved down a little bit and Should help to expand allegiance membership by what guests Yep, You're right. Like you said, You know, When you came back from Vietnam, you went and knocked on the legion's door. And today I'm here to join. Well, our younger veterans are knocking on our doors, So we have to go to them and we're gonna have to adapt. To their way of life because we all know They are connected with their telephone. And if it's out on their iPhone, their smartphone. It's just not gonna happen and they're not going to look for it. So we're gonna have to streamline a lot of our information, so it's quick and easily available. And I think this virtual post way of doing business is goingto be a wave of the future, But we'll still have our brick and mortar and we still have those post that Will be able Tio take care of our veterans by serving a burger and a beer..

"Well, and if they join, and they go to the virtual meetings, they can add to your numbers and add their voice to all American Legion members. When you go up to the capital and start working on veteransissues up there, so it's just another really good way to be come involved to the extent of time. You're absolutely right. And what just happened with the special session and we didn't get the Justice Restoration Act for our veterans path is One of the reasons why we need these young veterans to join. Join the American Legion. So like you said, we have the numbers behind us. We can say we have 70,000 veterans, uh, voicing their concern and you guys need Tio start listening to us and pass. The bills that need to be passed. Solal you that are out there. Eligible veterans sign up, either in person there are check out the virtual American Legion and lend your voices of those efforts. Mac Mike. It sounds like a lot going on with legion these days. I understand that this week you made a donation of the medical center. Yes, sir. Jeremy will still our department service officer. Contacted the National Operation Comfort Warriors office and explain to them we had a need for 50 ipads at our VA hospital here in Minneapolis. You know, with the lock down over there, and families could not get in to see you know their loved ones that are You'll be in the hospital. So, Jeremy Wade, get some iPad. We can Give these to our veterans who were in the hospital and they can connect with their families. So Operation Comfort warriors took a look at his application and granted us the 50. I passed. To the tune of about 18 to $20,000. So I've had we received them this past week. And I believe Thursday. We are going to present him to the hospital, and they're going to distribute them to Ah to the patients that need to connect with their families. So yeah, that was pretty exciting, and it was great work by Jeremy Good work guys, and that it's just another example of one of your very important partnerships with other organizations such as the Minneapolis, Va. Medical Center. Yes, sir. Way, do what we can do. All right, Mike. When we come back, we'll talk a little bit more about the commander's task force in in your participation in that. I want a little update on Legion Ville. We're talking to Mike Max of the Minister Department, Minnesota American Legion Regiment..

"The American Legion every year the boys and girls state programs at the state level you know forty nine of the fifty states of them the resulting of boys and girls nation programs and that we have a call from don in the Great Falls Montana this evening and I think your list for the K. Q. D. I. fourteen fifty if I'm not mistaken done I I really actually did not have a question for that they went up to comment you were you know Thomas there are no comments okay well Thomas do you know a dot in Great Falls Montana so yeah I assume he he probably just gave a downgrade vases my friend Kaylie Casey from Helena Montana he's on the capital high football team with me actually okay so we have that we have all right that's okay we could use the alias is with bind did you did you see greatness in your friend god did you have a great yes yeah I'd be great if lebron well that's that's good that you did I'm I'm glad that you did at the other words the fact that the with infected Thomas as well that was a vice president of boys nation does not surprise you I take it no not at all but I did get in our school probably well that's outstanding I appreciate very much you calling in did you yourself don you ever have any thoughts about going into such a program exist now all of what you want to think about it what what day you're are you in school gonna be a senior gonna be a senior well there you go all right we'll talk with our our guests a bit about the the whole notion of eligibility right Sir talk with us got wind first of all if somebody wants to will be involved in a in a girls state or boys state program but what is the eligibility yeah so it's an individual whose rising senior so between their junior and senior year and traditionally there were there were further from either their counselors or from their local legion posts really each state kind of recruits differently and so for like said some the the council say he'll daughter locally imposes a Hey you know these are the individuals that we like to nominate for boys state and then the lease and we'll go from there for the legion will reach out to the community itself looking for those individuals and then bring them in and of course the selection process and then they go to boys state now that that well so Ellenberger the cost involved you obviously can't run a program like this up for nothing someone most of pay the freight if you will to the participants for their families have to pick up the tab no Sir the American Legion American Legion auxiliary take care of all the costs associated well that's outstanding again as I see a great program I you know my memory is is is the elusive Scott on the the length of time I seem to remember something approaching a week at the of the jury boys state program but how long do the the state programs tend to go and how long does the boys nation and girls they should program go yes of the at the national level were eight days where from from Friday till till Friday but the name that leave on Saturday so I guess it's really seven days and then at the state level it depends so each state has a different program and they run things completely different level so we are as at the American Legion we are a bottom up organization and so we don't really have any say in how each state runs our program and so some of them run for about four five days some of them can run up to nine and so it really just depends on the state let let's talk to our boy years involved in the program again Lucas and and Thomas in terms of the of what impressed you the most either at the state level or at the net national level Lucas what most impressed you what activity what visit what trip if you will to Capitol Hill or where all you have been the what was the most impressive part for you well I think has started the state level at the state level the most impressive part of the entire program was definitely the communication and the way that my counselors which is so easy to talk to it was just so helpful with everything that I could have asked them to be helpful for at the national level I'd say that the American Legion goes to great lengths to make sure that even if you don't enjoy the Senate sessions or even if you think that the long and arduous you will enjoy your trip to DC and I think that that's something beautiful because it might trips the DC meeting with vice president pence I do not agree with the man on a lot but it was still amazing to meet somebody like that and today I also got to see a performance by the third infantry regiment of the US army the old guard they performed via a military peasant call the twilight that too and that was just unbelievable it was beautiful it was so well executed now tell us badly the most impressive part of your experience of the state or the federal level so on all on the boys nation no I'm really gonna have to agree with Lou on the fact that DC is amazing I really believe that every American should try to make a trip to DC once in their life the memorials and everything we got to do here has has been so cool and I appreciated it so much at the state level and definitely at the national level as well the camaraderie that this program builds I still remember my city from Boise state everyone at boys status are divided into different cities and the city of last chance I mean the bond I have with those guys I still talk to all of them every single day via social media and I know the bond I will have with them will be lasting just as a we are building here boys nation today I have these things stick with you I'm pretty sure that the city the to which I was in attendance again in nineteen sixty one was Alcorn city I'm pretty sure that was the name of that the city of about each other is in Alcorn Missouri but again the the political parties the city's all lower all fictitious but it sticks with you I can remember those people I really can't stop the wind what is left on the the boys nation agenda as we speak here live this is a Wednesday evening and there's still a lot of time left what is the forth coming for the participants yes tomorrow yes the White House visit is is traditional and it is one of the highlights but it's something that we do really unique here with the boys nation program is that we actually connect these young men and women of with their owner senators and congressmen within their own state so tomorrow we're gonna get up early and were to take them down to the hill and we're pretty much gonna let them go without appointments each of them have appointments with some of the other senators the congressman's over both either or but each one of them will have some time to sit down with those men and women that are represent as their state and bring forth the bills that they produce at boys and girls nation or to bring forth the topics that are important to them and the individuals of of this younger generation and the fact that the representative these congressmen and senators take the time to do this with them is just phenomenal it's really something that's unique to our program it's it's a tremendous program we'll talk some more one eight six six five oh Jimbo is our number one eight six six five oh five four six two six have you rode cynical about the political process let me tell you something involvement in the American legion's boys and girls state boys and girls nation programs will remove your cynicism there are many fine young people out there who are learning more about their civic responsibilities whether.

Monday, America, pauses to remember, the fallen those who gave their lives defending our freedom defending our country in America's wars, those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we today can barbecue cookout watch baseball games cheer on the bucks. Whatever it is. We pause at least one day a year. And remember all of those who died so that, that is possible. There are, of course, number of parades that take place around the area around the state around the country, everyone, it seems has Memorial Day parade or of a Morial day event usually a solemn event marking. The day. The American Legion in twin lakes. Puts on a parade. This is legion post five forty four. I was contacted by the local Republican party down there. And a Representative couple of them actually told me that they weren't going to be allowed to March. The letter MS Aaron decker the chair of the Republican party of Kenosha county received from Jim Schmidt commander of the American Legion post five forty four in twin lakes, sent this letter on April twenty ninth. So a couple of weeks before this parade was set to step off. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jim Schmidt commander of American Legion. Post five forty four twin lakes and I serve as the parade Marshall is, well, we're preparing for our legion sponsored parade here on Memorial Day, along with visits to our cemeteries to honor our deceased veterans and observe the solemn protocols of the day in the past. We have tried not to have political overtones to this parade and out of respect for all veterans past and present. There is an understanding that legion posts are not supposed to be political with that in mind, we respectfully request, regardless of party, affiliation that no electioneering posters, nomination petitions or political floats. Be a part of our ceremonies and parade. We know that you will understand, and we very much appreciate your time to review. Our request the same letter was sent to Mr. Rolin pillow of the Democratic Party of Kenosha county. Please note the twin lights chamber of commerce will sponsor liberty parade for the fourth of July festivities and by all means contact them to have your floating -cluded for that event again. Many, thanks very sincerely, Jim Schmidt commander of post five forty four. Now, I talked to Schmidt this morning, and he was very clear that the American Legion itself does not allow any politicking any politicization of any event at all. In fact, in the American legion's charter in its constitution article two section to the American Legion. Shelby. Absolutely non-political, and shall not be used for the dissemination of partisan principles nor for the promotion of the candidacy of any person seeking public office, or preferment, couldn't be clearer. However, the Republican party said, and number of representatives, there from said both day and someone associated with the Democratic Party, I was able to confirm that they have marched in this and had floats in this parade as well. In fact, decker told me that going back to two thousand eight the Republican party had marched in this parade. I was sent a picture of the float from last year. It has audit cutouts of all four members of the armed service Representative of all four members of the armed services. That's army navy airforce marines. I don't know where the coast guard is in this. But and all the flags there is a Wisconsin flag. There's an American flag. And there is a big sign on the bottom of the float that says, salute our troops. There is however, also a giant fiberglass elephant elephant, of course being the symbol of the Republican party on the back of the float. It said, Republican party of Kenosha. That was it. Democratic parties float. I'm told had much the same design. It was cut out of the Iwojima flag-raising, but it also had yard signs for various political candidates. And this would obviously be a violation of the American legions. Constitution. So this year. Now, the Republican party said, it's had a float in this specific parade in twin lakes since two thousand so eleven straight years, and Schmidt did say yes, for the last couple of years, we've sort of let it slip that political parties are allowed to be in this. However, there is nothing overtly political about this float, except, of course, for the Republican party elephant, now, MS decker told me that this year is float was going to have an impact it does. They use the same float for every parade that they're in fourth of July Memorial Day. They're in another Memorial Day parade right before the twin lakes, one was set to step off on Monday. And this year's one is a salute to the women's suffrage movement. It's the hundredth anniversary of the passage of giving women. The franchise. The nineteenth amendment twentieth amendment. I'm always shaky because one is women's suffrage. The other is prohibition believe nineteenth amendment is women's suffrage. The float, they're only had messages that were meant to be like signs that you would see in nineteen nineteen the nineteenth is women's suffrage. Boom. You know how you remember that the nineteenth amendment in nineteen nineteen? That's how I always remembered him. But, you know, you sort of second guess yourself because it's like, well, wait a second. I'm usually pretty good on amendments. I'm out of the twenty-seven I bet I could probably get twenty three twenty four. We'll maybe we'll play that game. I'm not going to do it right now. I'm not gonna get sidetracked like that. Dave's asking me. What's twelve which one is quartering soldiers. Smart guy. So this year, it was going to be a salute to women suffrage, and they were gonna have political style slogans, but it was going to be give women the vote. It was going to be an Omayad to the women's suffrage movement that came to a head with the passage of the nineteenth amendment. So, again, there was going to be nothing political that were going to use the elephant, again, to symbolize, the Republican party to let people know that it was the Republican party's float. And there was going to be a sign that said, Republican party of Kenosha county just to let people know who's float it was. That's pretty standard whenever you see afloat and a parade. You see who it is? Now Schmidt did also allow that elected officials are always welcome to March in this parade. They are not however, allowed to give out campaign literature or anything like that. And in fact, van, Juan guard usually marches in this parade, decker told me that he is apparently very upset and considering not marching this year because of the exclusion of the Republican party and the Democratic Party Samantha Kirkman, usually marches with the Republican party as well. But it's unclear what she's going to do, if she's going to continue to March or wasn't able to get in touch with her office breath, she's going to in solidarity with the Republican party skip this float altogether and Schmidt, was very clear. He said, look, I got the order from the national organization. We are not allowed to have politicking especially at the Memorial Day parade. So we had a vote of our members and they instructed me that we're just not going to allow the Republican or democratic parties to have political floats or anything and I said, well, their arguments seems to be pretty compelling here that the only thing political is. A sort of recognition that it is a Republican party float, or a Democratic Party float. If the Democrats say wanted to have a donkey on their float, and he said, no, just it being a Republican party float. Just this Republican party of Kenosha county, sign is enough to make it political in nature, the existence of a political party in this float makes it political now decker said, they'd never distribute. They don't do yard signs on the flow Tarani thing like that. They wouldn't do make America great again, or hand out Trump hats or Trump signs or anything like that. In fact, she said, they're giving out Packers and badgers schedules, that they give out the bookmarks with the pledge of allegiance on them, things like that, because they don't want to run afoul of the obvious rules in the American Legion, which is in charge of the parade, obviously reserves the right to invite or disinvite, whomever. It chooses and this is why I thought this was an interesting. Debate here. I'm not sure necessarily which side I come down on the American Legion makes a very compelling case as does the Republican party. Let's see what you think four one.

"Ninety five and they're just as jammed in there Justice cramped and in Maryland, they had a unique idea. They said, hey, why don't we add a lane and do a toll which by the way is what Virginia did? And it actually did do some benefit now is in the told her out of control the track rates are kind of crazy at some point. And they got certain handle on of it looks like or at least they're starting to it sometimes, but there is an option at least for people who want to pay to get into the fast track lane. And by the way, also I think that it does alleviate the traffic in some respects on on four hundred five by adding that extra lane even though that it's toll only at certain times. Listen, if you don't think so go ahead and correct me. I happen to not be on the road during afternoon drive. I'm doing this during afternoon drive.
