Jenna Ellis: Power Is the Disgusting Underbelly of Washington D.C.
"It's the same principle that there's this thing called power. And power when you make an idol of power, it is the enemy of truth and it blinds people so dramatically that they effectively make themselves look like fools. You can see who's guilty. Yeah, and that's the disgusting underbelly of Washington D.C. and power is such a dangerous thing that when in the hands of people who crave it, it becomes their God and it becomes everything that they want and desire and that they refuse to give up. And here in America, our founders brilliantly said, we want a nation that's of the people by the people for the people no one is entitled to power no titles of nobility, no inheritance of power. And that's what the Democrat elitists and even the RNC for the people that they want to designate. They don't want to go with that self evident truth and the structure of the constitution in our founding documents because they want to be entitled to power and they don't want to give it up. And that becomes not only very dangerous, but that leads to all of the corruption that you're saying. And
Taliban Guards Once-Hated Buddhas as It Eyes Chinese Cash From Copper
"I want to talk about the Taliban and the statues of ancient buddhas that are in Afghanistan built many of them hundreds of years ago. And you might remember the episode going back now to when the Taliban first came to power, they hate these Buddha statues because to the Taliban, this is sort of heresy. This is not heresy, but this is the wrong path to the truth, if you will. The only path is Allah's path. And so these other religions are kind of violations of the truth. And so the Taliban mounts what can be accurately called a crusade against those. Buddha statues and they blew up a bunch of them in a part of the country. They said these are pagan idols. We don't want them in an Islamic State. And so bam, down they go and the world was a little outraged, not because the world is people around the world are partisans of Buddhism, per se, but these statues have a historical and a. Historical significance, as well as obviously a religious significance for Buddhists. So there was a sort of outrage against religious freedom, a kind of outrage against the idea that these are a preservation of the historical record, but the Taliban, of course, doesn't care about any of that historical record who reads history, and probably for them history begins in the 7th century anyway. Now, interestingly, the same controversy has been resurrected now because there are ancient Buddha statues carved into the cliffs of rural Afghanistan and they are looking over a kind of ravine. And hundreds of meters down, there is what is believed to be the world's largest deposit of copper copper. Now, in Taliban want to promote economic development in their country and I think ordinarily, they'd be really happy to blow up these Buddha statues, but they've realized that the Buddha statues are going to be of some value to any country that wants to come in and mine that copper for them. Now, a bunch of countries want to be in on this deal. Russia has said, we'll do it. We'll line the copper Iran has said, we'll do it. Turkey said, we'll do it with a country that wants to do it the most is China. China. And interestingly, although China is a communist society and although China is officially anti religious and they of course persecute Christians in China, the Chinese like the Buddha statues. Partly it could be because there was a history of Buddhism that made its way to the far east and all the way to China. It could be because the Chinese simply think that for historical reasons they would like to preserve these statues in any event, they have let the Taliban know that these statues are valuable and should not be desecrated or

What Archeologist Steven Notley Discovered in Bethsaida
"Let's just settle on it folks. Beth sida has been discovered. What are some of the things that you discovered there that make you realize this is in fact the New Testament? First of all, I'm trained as a historian. That's what I do. Reading ancient texts, how and particularly historical geography, how does the land, the contours of land match it? So we have ancient descriptions of where josephus the Jewish historian actually tells us describes precisely where it was located. And so that's why when we began to think about excavating, we went by the ancient descriptions, being on the Lake shore, as I mentioned, that's where you would have a fishing village. And near to the Jordan River, where about 200 yards from the Jordan River, which is exactly as josephus describes it. But you know, I wonder, though, why would anybody have ever doubted josephus at all? If josephus, who is such an imminent figure, such an authoritative figure put it this way, why would anybody else go with something else? He never just made stuff up. Not everybody takes sufficient attention to historical sources. That's one of the problems. When you approach a question like this, it requires multiple disciplines, not a single one. Everyone gets in their lane, stays in their lane, whether it's archeology or history or and they don't get out of their lane. I have noticed this. But this is what's so fascinating is that all of these big fascinating puzzles tend to be solved by people who have the guts to step back and look at several disciplines at once. Because when you just look at because there's some people that almost think an idol of their discipline, and they say, it's only about archeology. It's only about stones and other people like, no, it's only, but you realize it's going to be all these things, usually. Exactly. It's a multidisciplinary approach. And when you do that, when you get out of your lane and you start having the information, if I can say it like there's bump up against each other and to creating a friction, you start saying, oh, I have to look at it in a slightly different way. So that's what happened in this situation. We began to look at examined the data and we were drawn to the location and of course we began to excavate. And I think it's fair to say people have been
Our Faith Touches Everything
"The Germans bought into this stupid idea. They thought, hey, we're German, which means we're Lutheran, which means Luther invented Christianity as far as we're concerned. He invented this idea of grace, grace means I don't have to do anything, and that's that. And of course, Bonham wrote about cheap grace and the idea that if you don't really understand grace, you treat it like nothing. You know, you treat what God has done for you like nothing, which means you don't get it, which means you don't believe which means forget about grace. There's no grace because you have an appropriate degree. I really believe for other reasons the church in America today has done the same thing. I think there are different reasons, but there are tons of people who've excoriated people like me and Frank and said, you've made an idol of politics. You've made an idol of Donald Trump. You know, ridiculous things. And the point is no, we just believe that our faith touches everything. It's not some little parochial religious thing that stays in the corner, like the official church is doing China. It's something that has to come out of the church and live everywhere. We have a free exercise of religion, freedom to do that. So if you keep it in this little religious theological corner, then it's phony. It's abbreviated faith. If you don't live it out in the school, on the workplace, on the radio, on the whatever it is, if you don't do that, you don't really believe it. Your phony. So when people talk about, I just want to preach the gospel. I don't want to be I don't want to be political. We think that's just stupid. That makes no sense. Because if you're a Jew in a boxcar going to Treblinka or Auschwitz, you think, you know, I would love it if there was some Christians out there on the other side of this boxcar who believed what they said and would get political and stand up against the system that is sending me my family to death. That means getting political.

"And I did American Idol. That's a take it back to idle, but I did idle. And he reached out to my father because I was still a kid at the time. And he was a fellow long islander and said, you know, I take part in this conference, and they do amazing work. And I would love to bring Kevin down. I had the summer free. I didn't make the American Idol tour, so I had the summer free. And he has to, if I would come down to perform at the banquet for the 2006 Friends for life conference in Orlando, Florida. And I was very excited, but I didn't know what I was getting into. I didn't know what this conference was. I didn't know that such an amazing organization existed. So I go down and I sing, you raise me up, which was the Josh again to bring up Josh Groban the song that I sang on idol, audition with. And I sing it. And it was just amazing. I had such an incredible time and I learned more about what this conference was and learn of the support system that people had. And I think I was just so naive. I didn't realize that something like this even existed. And it just opened up my eyes that opened up my eyes to how many people care about people in this world. And I knew, you know, to an extent, you know, around home in New York, you know, when I met these people when I met Jeff Hitchcock, when I met Laura and all these amazing lor ability and all these amazing people at the conference, I it was instantly just felt like family. I would go back several years thereafter. I think in 2009 and then again, maybe around 2012, 2013 is a special guest and I kept going back as a special guest and it was fun because initially I was there as kind of a guest who was promoting idol and then and then a younger generation of the kids that would go I'd get to be a special guest and talk about good luck Charlie on the Disney Channel and that was a great fun. But then I would go and I would take part in the conference a little bit. And then I would just kind of find myself walking around and saying hi to people and popping into the exhibition room and popping into sports central and playing basketball. The kids, and I was like, I want to do more here. I want to do more. I got in touch with Laura and they ended up asking me the next year. We've had just a special guest, but you want to come back and be a staff member here. And I was like, absolutely. I just wanted a bigger role and they were so gracious as to offer me one. And now I'm just like part of the gang, which is always more fun for me anyway, because I never feel important. I never feel special. It's just like, I'm just one of the gang. I'm just like you. I'm just like this kid who has it. I'm just like this. It's unbelievable getting to go there every year. They asked me to be on the team staff. And I think this past summer, yeah, I was my fourth fourth year on the team staff. And I just want to go back every year. Every year they'll have me. I want to go back, yeah. It is amazing when you don't have that community connection and then you find it. We were kind of by ourselves. I live near Charlotte, I don't live in Charlotte. And it seems like everybody I knew with type one with kids with type one lived further away from me. And then in 2010, children with diabetes brought a conference.

"I can't believe I did it at all and I can't blame it when I was when I didn't know anyone else was just a child, yeah. It's so funny. So okay, so you're my son's age when you go from there you go. Not to say your son's a child. I'm sure he's way more mature than I was. 60 minutes. But you know, I did let him just go, you know, he took an international trip for a month, but he was with, but he was with a bunch of people who, you know, we felt very safe with. Of course. What was the deal with American Idol? Because you didn't just go to one city, right? I mean, addition, different cities, take us through what happened. It was just the journey of a lifetime at 16. I auditioned in New York, I'm from levitan, New York, Long Island, New York, and I auditioned up in Boston. I turned 16 and as I tell the story, my mom and I would watch idol from the Kelly Clarkson days. I ultimately was on season 5, but Kelly Clarkson wants to show season one. My mom and I it's my CTV. We tune in every week to watch this show. And my father was never a big fan and I was a singer around the same time that I was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 11. That's kind of when I joined the chorus and developed a love for singing and acting in the school plays and whatnot. And he'd walk through the room and we'd be watching idle and I would tell him. So you know, one day I'm going to do this show. And he's like, yeah, okay, we'll see. And I turned 16 and again, just to echo how incredibly supportive, my parents have always been, they've always been by my side. I turned 16 and I go up to Boston to audition for the show. There were no tri state area auditions in the greater New York area. They take me up to Boston. They take me up to Gillette stadium where the New England Patriots play. They're having massive auditions, 15 tents set up on a field, a judge at each tent and four at a time they're bringing us down and they say, sing, sing, sing, sing. You sing a little bit of a song they cut you off whenever they feel like, yeah, they make it, or they send it to the exits. We see a herd of people going to the exits, and I was one of the lucky few that day who they said, you know what? We're going to give you another audition. We'll come back and see the executive producers. So on and so forth all the way up to the main judges in the city of Boston. I see the original three of Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, and eventually I make my way out to Hollywood. I get past that round and made it to Hollywood. It was my first time ever on the West Coast. I get to go and I'm one of maybe a 180 people auditioning out in Hollywood to try to get on those live shows where ultimately I landed in gosh I got to somehow got to the top 12 of my seats..

"Kevin welcome to the show. I'm really glad to talk to you. Thanks for making some time for me. Stacy, thank you for having me. I'm so excited to find we've been talking about this for a while. And so I'm so happy to finally join the program. It's great. Awesome. Yeah, it's great that we finally connected. Gosh, so much to talk about. We connected when we see each other every year, Friends for life. Yeah. And I was so happy we were able to do that this year will kind of see what happens going ahead. But before we get into all of that, do you mind if we just kind of take a step back and look back? I mean, you have been on the show before, and I'd love to kind of revisit the early days of Kevin. If I could Stacy, I would be disappointed if we didn't do that, so let's dive in, let's do it. Yes, please. As I was asking that I was thinking about American Idol, but I should probably go back further. You were diagnosed when you were, you were a kid, you were not even 11 years old you had, right? Yeah, it was just prior to my 11th birthday. Symptoms leading up, yeah, my birthday is at the end of May. And I just remember that entire month of May so vividly, you know, obviously, you think back to childhood and you know memories here memories there, but that month just stands out my mind so vividly symptoms throughout the month. Parents wander in. Yeah, what's going on with Kev? What's happening, you know, maybe an infection, this, that, bring me into the doctor, several days prior to my 11th birthday to get the diagnosis of type one diabetes. Yeah. Did you spend your birthday in the hospital? I think it was several days after my birthday. So yeah, it was the entire month leading up to the birthday, and then it was, yeah, right at the start of June, I was put in, so this was several days after my 11th birthday that I was in the hospital and just, you know, you hear the doctor tell you. And you're a kid, and you know, I immediately have broke down and cried. I didn't know, I didn't know what I was dealing with. You know, you hear the word diabetes. And you know, your mind escapes you, you start to run around all these different things. And then the doctor kindly explained to me, no, this is something you're going to be able to manage in your life. It's obviously going to be a great deal of work. But this is something you live with and something you manage. And then from there, I learned everything. Over the course of the next week and being in the hospital and getting treated, yeah, it was a month like no other, though. Yeah, that's for sure. So your kid your diagnosed at a time when frankly, it's the, as I recall, that time that early 2000s. It's the time right before everything really started changing. Absolutely. As I look at it, Benny was diagnosed in 2006, they were like, we've got this amazing thing called Atlantis. That's just been approved for kids. Yeah. You know, and now everything seems so different with the technology, what was the first kind of technology or routine that you were on? Gosh, you got me thinking back to the pre lantus days of type one. Yeah, right? It's wild. For me taking the injections taken the daily injections..

"He is a steadily working actor with roles in Transformers and this is us, The Rookie NCIS Los Angeles and more. I've put some pictures of Kevin in the diabetes connections Facebook group, so you can kind of see him on set. And he is appearing in the new Netflix series on the verge, which is out this month. I thought it would be fun to just play a little clip of season 5 of American Idol where Kevin appeared. This was back in 2006 as I said he was one of the very youngest contestants. So.

Caller Pitches Title for a New Mark Levin Book, 'American Paganism'
"Think you touched upon the title of your new book, American paganism when government becomes God Pretty much, isn't it? Pretty much in these people. They believe it that governments more powerful than nature. More powerful than the sun more powerful than the atmosphere. It is sickening to watch. These people pray it false idols. It's one thing if they pray at false idols, but they insist on dragging the rest of us with them. Yeah. Yes. And unfortunately, that's what we're seeing happening happening right before our eyes this year. All right. Don't
Experts Wrote to U.N. Secretary General Insisting Climate Science Should Be Less Political

Spider-Man: No Way Home and the Best Trailers of 2021
"The biggest trailer in the history of trailers premiered a couple of weeks ago. It's spiderman no way home. Now if you're a fan of the ring a podcast network. There was a two plus hour episode of the ringer verse entirely about this trailer. Hosted mallory ruben featuring danielson there was also a green room execution with mallory and then there was also a conversation between chris and andy on the watch about the spiderman. No way home trailer. So what do we have to contribute to this conversation. I actually do have something. I i love so much in. Particular is one of the greatest out there. But i do not listen to the two our breakdown of the trailer because that is engaging with the trailer and m. c. you and the world building in the way that fans of that franchise in existence do and i just engaged with things differently but i did listen to the watch. And here's the one thing that i think. Everyone is missing from this conversation. Wow here we go. I'm excited about this. Which is just understanding that. Tom holland is basically a one man one direction at this point for an entire generation. And so the the idea that this is like the most watch trailer ever has a lot to do with you. Know spiderman and the popularity of these movies and yada yada. It also has a lot to do with a lot of fans of a certain age who for whom tom holland and sunday and also like a massive massive star. They are the entry point for these movies. These franchises and also kind of the most important. I mean there's just like a teen beat quality to this which i do not say it's important for the teens. Have idols it really is. I'm speaking for the teen girls here. Anti boys honestly. I don't know why being exclusionary but so i what i think is interesting is to what extent can you convert those fans like phase. Renee Sinning on Parent-Teen Relationships
"I started teaching in nineteen ninety one and retired from the classroom in two thousand nineteen taking years off to raise my own kids but it changed like the kids changed not at their core. But just you know was -iety in the way we view the world and yet teenagers still teenagers. Like that piece is still there. But the kind of the parent team dynamic that relationship changed like when i was younger it was black and white like the parents had this stroll and the teenagers you know had this role. There wasn't really that kind of intermingling in now and it's as time went on through the years in classroom. A lot of parents really want it to be. They're teenagers friends like that. It became more gray that relationship that parent teen relationship and that can cause a lot of problems because teenagers they need boundaries and they need they need the parents to be the parent and not their friend because there will come a time from that. That doesn't mean you don't get along with them and have fun. It just means we have to separate those roles a little bit and say your age your parents. I have a friend and you have parents. You need both of them. It's got a little gray over the years. And i think and i don't really know why that is studied that but maybe because more parents are working. Maybe that's not why maybe just because teens have changed so much. Society has changed what they have coming at them and so i'm just super passionate about working through working with teenagers. That fall through the cracks because a lot of them just aren't getting the support they needed. And so but i can never. But i but i also work with the parents like they're totally intertwined like a teen life coach but anytime working with the teen client like partnering with the parent. I have regular contact with them and they have opportunity to talk to me invent in kind of idol parent. coaching too. Because stuff comes up and then just nothing teen surprises me. I've either seen it experienced it myself or been pretty in the classroom or through a client like there's nothing in teen world it would surprise me and so it's really easy to open up those lines of communication ensure lecture my experiences with parents and help them. Because i've seen. I've seen their own everything

"For the next great singer but the world needs more than just singers better known. Perhaps her shows like the nearly twenty year. Old american idol when idol debuted in two thousand. Two i thought this perfectly expresses the mindset of our culture we have drifted so far from our biblical roots including the ten commandments that we are now eagerly and aggressively looking for the next thing or person to give our worship to. Instead of the true god. The late lucille ball was once reported to have said the problem with our world. These days is that we no longer blush. How true in jeremiah. Six fifteen jeremiah said this twice about the world of his day are they. Ashamed of their detestable conduct. No they have no shame at all. They do not even know how to blush. We ought to blush about a lot of things especially our passion for making idols out of false things. Idle means an object of extreme devotion or a representation or symbol of an object of worship. It can also be used in the sense of a false conception. Or something that is a fallacy. It synonyms include hero star obsession or symbol. The bible has a lot to say about idols. The word is used two hundred twenty three times in the new international translation. The most famous us comes in the second commandment. God gave to israel as he formed them into his covenant. People do not make an idol for yourself whether in the shape of anything in the heavens above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth do not bow and worship to them and do not serve them. We likely think we don't have problems with idols. The way people in the old testament did surely as modern educated people. We are too sophisticated for that. We don't carve things out of wood or metal and then entrust our earthly and eternal lives to them or do we in here are your gods. Christopher j h right builds on c. s. lewis's mere christianity lewis wrote that the first distinction the bible teaches us is that which exists between god as creator and his creation including humans as louis indicates the bible declares that god is fully autonomous and self. Sustaining he always has been and will be by. Contrast everything else is dependent on god for its existence and always will be right then points out the problem when god made mankind in his own image with the freedom to choose. Mankind chose to pursue a god-like self autonomy in his autonomy. God instructed adam and eve about the limits of their freedom. He then worn them that disobedience would bring death or separation from him relation early and eventually physical death when the devil tempted the first couple he said god knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it and you will be like god knowing both good and evil right explains that the problem is in the phrase knowing both good and evil. The outcome of man's fall in the garden is that mankind now attempts to define morality and by extension reality and identity. Independent of god as jim denison says people now believe that all truth reality is personal and subjective in believing so we've opened the door to the pursuit of all kinds of idols to serve as substitutes for the true god. We rejected right. Gives further help from the old testament accounts identifying three common categories of idol. Making if we can better identify the idols we are making. We are better able to reject them. As fallacies i like the ancient israelites and other peoples of long ago. We continue to make idols out of the things that impress us. We can be awed by things in this world. God created the world to be a place of blessing in wonder for us to enjoy the sun moon and stars mountains rivers oceans and animals all have the ability to take our breath away. It's been said that creation is god's first book of revelation. The bible says that the heavens declare the glory of god additionally the abilities of olympic athletes musicians politicians and business tycoons. Keep us amazed but sometimes we choose to worship that which was us in place of worshiping. The god who created all these wonderful things romans one twenty two through twenty three says that we make a foolish exchange. We replace worshiping the creator with the impressive stuff. He created claiming to be wise. They became fools in exchange the glory of the immortal god for images resembling mortal man. Birds four footed animals and reptiles second. We make idols of the things that scare us sometimes. The same things that amazed us terrified us. The wind becomes a hurricane or a tornado. Rain and rivers produce a flood. A mountain erupts as volcano. The same fire that warms our homes in cook our meals devours thousands of acres homes and lives more personally. Those who achieve great goals are discovered to have climbed ladders of abuse by misusing power to stand on the backs of their victims. There are a lot of things to be scared of in this world. Idol worship seeks to keep them at bay third. We sometimes make idols out of the essential things we need. We are needy creatures. We are sustained and enriched by air water food sleep sacks and purpose. These things are so important to us. Daily that our preoccupation with them becomes a temptation to deify them as the ultimate gods we need to pursue see mathew six nineteen through thirty four right concludes that there are good reasons to identify and reject idols. Idols diminish the worship. We should give to the one true. God if we are worshipping false gods we are robbing god of the worship that is rightly his and he will demand we change. Second idol worship dehumanizes us. We become what we worship when we worship false gods we become less than the holy image bearers. God made us to be worshiping and serving. Idols is always disappointing. This statement is powerful. It seems we never learned that false. Gods never failed to fail. The worship of anything other than god will leave us empty frustrated and more fearful so what idols american or otherwise. Might you be serving. What or who is tempting you away from full devotion to christ jesus the king of kings and lord of lords who alone created you sustains you and died on a cross to redeem you is there anything. Beat my ass to the tune of plus three hundred votes in the singing contest I want aren be Brian McKnight for the final two. Really show the audience that I was willing to push the limits of my singing ability. Jeff goes with Johnny Cash Ring of fire which. Requires zero singing ability whatsoever. You just have to have a nice deep voice and cadence. What do you think I mean? You're a master of talent evaluation. I I think he had to go something Greg. That was a little more a little more finale understand. You're trying to show all those rights. Those you know the runs and all. Those skills off, but I mean you got something a little more upbeat than that, so I'm GonNa. Give you a bad judgment on picking that there you go. It's all about song choices. The judges say look. It was like the right outgoing song Because it wasn't well known or I didn't know it, I don't think. It was also like almost too much career. It was too much of strike pushed myself too far. The limbs it was outside the limits. Let's say. Pushing. It was way, too. Jeff. What did you think of myself? Well you certainly have awesome singing skills to be honest with you I mean you without. Yeah, without a doubt you can. Sure so. Well and likewise, Jeff I thought you nailed your performance, and as we talk through the course of the week you know sometimes song choice, not sometimes when you hear these singing shows. They always talk about song choice being key one week. It's great, but then one week you pick a bad song, and then all of a sudden. You know you find yourself on the outside. Looking in that's it. All right. Well for this. We've come down to. There's been a record number of votes accumulated over the course of the week. Why in the in the first twenty four hours of voting I have specific numbers that are verified over one hundred eighty seven votes were cast in the first twenty four hours, a hundred, eighty seven in the first twenty four hours, a total of three hundred and sixty eight votes. Mattie your thoughts on the gap I I think that because the song that you chose Song, he chose trying to make sense because now lot people your song, but a my defense. I didn't know his song either. I didn't know what I feel like. A lot of the listeners might have known that song. It kind of makes sense, but you guys both did a good job. All, right, Mattie. What are Marley? He's got over almost two million youtube subscribers I can't believe he comes on as much as he does, but people who have sixteen million. You don't know them I know I. Know Sam I, Know Rice or how many Youtube subscribes, you have right now. Seven thousand. We'll get that guy. He's a budding star. I Know Jeff Jeff Rice comes on the show and actually sings, and he's got seven thousand followers. He had ten thousand last week, but then he sang, and now he's got seven thousand five. That's what happens here. I think I. Have just over a thousand. Yeah? But I find to be cumbersome and I actually eliminated the livestream today, and so we're only going live to facebook and tune. Yeah, no, that's not what they all say I'm telling you exactly what I'm saying that I can't. I can't have time for that right now. I need to conserve my bandwith for what. So I can have a proper connection with Jeff who's in Wisconsin. So my CPU doesn't blow up. I mean there's a lot of things going on behind the scenes that you think it's all just me floating along here behind the microphone. magically it happens for two hours every two. No, this is like American idol. Of course, that's why we call it. American idol barbecues at the show. Next season, it will be the voice. Barbecue Why not all right now quickly? As we look back on last week, some of the things. That stuck out for instance. I. Don't know if you guys recall this or not. But this actually happened right here on the show. Remember this Yup. Sounded a little more like this round the crown. Perfect harmonies. Mailing it. said where's big and rich. Where's Riser v? It's like one in the same. Make a lot of. Girls, they also everybody remembers that right Yep. Yeah, how can you forget that? Ben. Burned in your mind forever and. then. Outside of the recorded duet. We took it a step further on the lives and went live. We actually did it live. And Sang our own socks jeff saying of course. Jeff. What did you sing last week? Yes Lisa. Please be. We'll see. It won't be that long until we see if I am indeed the champion. And gain the people's fame and adulation forever or If, it's going to be. The new or new whist embedded correspondent Jeff Rice. Um? But, the votes are in the votes have been tallied record number of votes. Last month was a record number of votes compared to the first month. So from a popularity standpoint, American idol barbecue central show addition is a raging success now not to the point where. Weber and Kingsford whatever big freaking name out there. The barbecue community is a hey. We want to sponsor barbecue central's American idol next season and pony up A. Prize pool of whatnot. And before you jump in and go greg last weekend last week, you said hundred thousand dollars to the winner. Total lie. When I listened to the show. I didn't say oh that's I. Did say that immediately upon saying that the winner was also going to get a Sony records recording contract, but maybe everybody drew that conclusion on their own. But I did not say that the money was be S. The money is. Your. Myself or riser is not getting a hundred K. cash. If I win at one of us is going to the stupid singing contest, so don't think either of us are getting rich, and by the way if somehow there was one hundred thousand prize pool, so it's the votes are coming in to me, even if Jeff won by seven hundred and fifty eight million votes it would be me winning. For one hundred grand I'll cheat. I hope that doesn't throw my. Values and moral compass right down the drain. But if the votes are coming in to me and nobody else wants to set up shop through some type of price clearinghouse water Deloitte Touche whatever the fuck it is! Those odds are going in my favor. And I'M ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE You know run to score in sports, it'll sportsmanship. Run it up. The second string is good. Run it up if the third string is good, brought it up. I'm just GONNA cause I would expect somebody to run it up on me, so I'm going to run it up to. Likewise in this kind of a contest of one hundred thousand dollars is on the line, and I'm counting the votes, and it's me or racer going to get one hundred grand me I'm getting one hundred grant. Let that be a lesson to all of you? who were going to go into competition with me? Win If you can. As my dad always taught me. Win If. You can lose if you must but always cheap. Cheap! It's only cheating if you get caught. And if you're not cheating, you're not trying I got them all. People are tuning out left and right. Don't forget. You can follow me socially and various social media platforms, obviously because I said you could follow me socially at central show instagram twitter tick tock snappy snaps. "Hey remember that thing. The Moon Landing Jazz trapper keepers manners. South Sunny D. Yeah I remember those things I this week. Four remember that thing we will be talking about American idol. Wow let's get wild with it to know that I love American idol. I didn't think that I would. I knew before we had seen competition shows on like every at every hour of the day forever. Jeff I do and it was American idol. They came in. They came in hot. I mean it had to have been one of the things where everyone that you talk to watch American idol and that's what people cared about the super bowl lead in and then boom now. Everyone's addicted watching American idol news. Good I mean even our grandma watch American idol called them. Everybody watched American idol. I let's let's Kinda get into it with some of the reasons that we enjoyed it now. I were the hosts of American idol and in season one. one of them. The first one is Brian Dunkel. Men My favorite of all of the hosts of American idol. Yeah he was always a very wasn't around very log just one season. He go why he decided to work on his stand up career which did not take off. He made a really bad bad choice. He did because the other one that he was with was one of the most famous people the entire World Ryan seacrest. How that guy is. Famous is beyond me. He does everything I know. And he's pretty good at it. Yeah he's on Ryan Kelly and he has a radio show and podcast. Radio shows actually pretty good. Yeah he does everything and he is the one that was around for every one of the seasons. Sixteen or even back. I think they're back on now. There's just going yeah. They run was like fifteen seasons and now they're back to which I'm glad about. Now we're going to talk about the original judges of the show and I think the reason that it stayed along around as long as it did was the strength of these three and the way they work together. We'll talk about the other. The other judges that were around later in the episode built. Start with these verse. Three Paula. Abdul opposites attract. Them they do get cat. Was there with her but Paula. Abdul is just so talented dancer. As a singer. She was a Laker Girl. She was she always seemed like she was a little intoxicated on. This show is another thing that I has part about Paula. What's in that Coke Cup? That definitely was not Co. She definitely looked drug supposed episodes but she was your classic nights person on the panel at least for the first few seasons and then she cut has started. Turn it and they kind of did yeah. That's what got good when they were all just mean your terrible your terrible all right next one your Middle Judge Randy Jackson. Paula was always in the Middle Randy. Rain is first. Yo Dog your dog let me tell you know for me. Doug now he was a bass player correct. I believe so. Yes that is data base. Players can't be a bass player in any band. I like Brandon Jackson the show because he was the funny one. Funny Ish one still could be kind of mean though. Yeah and he'd always start to. Yeah so if he started randy gives you a Yes. You got a pretty good shot at getting through his policies going to say she always says yes. If pulses no you're bad you're terrible all right. The last one the reason the show was on for as long as it was. I believe he's a part creator of the show right. I think so that I'm in cal- x-factor maybe yeah. He does a lot of shows like this and he's very good judge of talent. Everyone that he likes and wants to go through usually does pretty well on any of his shows he is also your classic one but you gotTa have one but it makes the show work. He's the kind of guy that just saying everyone's thinking and I like that. Now he's the voice of the audience was like this is not that good yeah euro. No one's clapping. That's 'cause you suck next. Yeah there's hundreds of thousands of people in this competition. Somebody's gotta be saying. No we gotta get down to one. You can't have ten thousand people at Hollywood week make Hollywood Week. Though a big auditorium messed up lurks. All right we'll start out with the opening of the show the first couple of weeks. This is my. It's the most entertaining couple of weeks the show. And that's tryout week now they have it in a bunch of different cities throughout the US if like football stadiums full of people. That want to be American. Idol'S IF I don't think it was like that for season one though no but once season one and season two. It's was on from three after. I'm sure everyone wanted is to be the American idol or at least people would just get outlandish. Just try to make the TV show. Even though they knew that they sucked had no chance yet trial great. So you've got the crazy people just trying to be on TV. You got the weird sob stories and then you just have the people that think that their day think that they're good but they're obviously terrible and they just have no awareness at all of what's going on like one of our favorites. William hung she bangs she bangs. That can't be top. That's like that's like one of the first memes remembers. He was so bad but so good. He toured Peop- flick. Thousands of people came to watch him saying that because it was so bad. But he's so into it. Yeah I mean if you're GONNA do it one hundred percent and that's what he did. Do you have another favorite from Week 'cause I have one pants on the ground go looking like a fool which pants on the ground to the sad was good too. That's why traffic just just for that stuff now. My wife Sarah her and her friend like late night. One time they like video after a couple adult beverages we'd been together to set to subserve. They made a video of them singing. That saw Hansen the ground. It was fun Anne but they had. They thought it was a lot funner than actually was. I don't know if it's still have to ask Sarah get home if it's still around but pants on the ground and this is like years after it happened to all right so if you make it through the first round of Trat week get your golden ticket. You gotta go to Hollywood now the rules. I seen enough of Hollywood week. That there's three rules that you need to follow if you WANNA make it to the next round and actually get to a live show where people get to vote for you number one. Do not mess up the lyrics you. If you miss up to lurks you might as well just go home. Stop don't try to sing some songs with lyrics. The don't really understand because you sing it to yourself in the car and don't sing like something fast or like rapi. If you're sitting no doubt song worse like crazy outta control all of them. Yeah not don't speak though that's a banger. Don't don't try to do that. Don't be don't seem like a Shakira Song. Do not know the words that sound no pass on that one if you could just get the lyrics right that puts you head of a handful of people and you're pretty much you get a pretty good shot getting through nerves. Always get guess in Hollywood week so make sure you have the lyrics down in your sleep number to find a good group because we get to group week while we're in Hollywood and you don't WanNa find a group where everyone's just selfish you want. People that are actually going to work with you actually want to do a good song actually want everyone to get through your whole team to get through. You don't want to be relying on just your singing in. Hopefully you get through it. You don't doesn't work out. You don't want everyone not caring about the dancing part in Europe. They're busted a groove. Yeah absolutely number three now. I made this one up. Don't singer Whitney Houston Song. There's very few people that can singer Whitney Houston Mariah Carey for that matter and I am telling you type song. Yeah there's very few people in the world that can signal song so let's you can actually sing it. Don't touch it but you don't want to be too safe either. You have to show off your vocal ability. Don't seem the mock arena. That's too safe or Tequila. Annual also will get the words wrong. So don't saying the muck around when you dance. They found the muck arena. The I'll even think that's the right. It's not true you're you will not be moving on. They get all right next up. We are live shows. No cuts down to like forty eight or maybe goes like final. Like boys and girls did at one point. Yeah the rules changed quite be. I think it's boys and girls until it gets cut down five. Yes six until twelve six and six but this is where this war get excited and I think this is where American idol really took hold and took the country by storm. It's like wait a minute. We get 'em folks these people and the people that vote for get a move on or go home. This is awesome. And what's Nice too is? America has a pretty good sense of humor. They sent some people who were very good pretty far in the shows and these really good singers or go wrong with the problem. Is You get to the live shows and you get like three people that are like the same people like the fantasia year. There was like three people that were just like the same so those people split votes in some rather. Rando makes it through. We'll talk to a lot of people think. Oh they're so good. They're going to be safe. These people might need my help to stay on and then the people that you think are safe. Everyone thinks that and they're not getting the votes and they very complicated now. We got to vote by phone which was pretty exciting. Very exciting. You called in just like the closest democracy that the United States is ever had. They should do it really for the president they probably shouldn't 'cause voting scandals So I found just these couple so since. Jaya you gotta remember him. That was the one that Howard stern convinced. All of his fans to vote for because it would be funny if he kept going and he made it pretty far. He was like top engine. Sanjay would make it through Howard. Stern was really pushed and hated it to other ones dot tree voting scandal so the week that he got voted out when his fans called in the recorded message said thank you for voting for Kelly. Mcphee or whoever? Whoever the person was and they're like wait a minute. This isn't right. Taylor Hicks one that season. Yeah she got fourth fourth place season five which Razi who Sunday in in one of the other ones Chris Allen when he won up against Adam Lambert. Everyone assumed would win because he was the better singer. Singers Song Not Songwriter. But just the way he performed right. But at and T. provided these phones to Kris Allen's hope like hometown. That allowed them to do this leg thing. They could vote like two thousand times by text message crazy. And that's why that's that season so this is probably why we don't vote by phone but so many people voted that. I don't even know that it would make that big of a debt even if you weren't you know but it could crash the system. I'm sure there is. Let's just say in all the seasons American idol. Probably people got knocked off. That should know. Obviously and more people voted on American idol than voted for most elections easily. Hand out a doubt. Will you can do it multiple times to and from your couch in your underwear. That helps too true.

"The Sam show that you can see SAM's town next week. And then again the entertainers to what it was. Nice to see is when I first heard about the concept that I really liked it. Then I'm looking at the people you bringing in really talented people. And of course that helps being in Las Vegas where there's a lot of them around. Everybody wants to come to Vegas that, that had to be important to you to right. Because you've got this world class group of speakers, you don't want to bring in some, you know, guy juggling necessarily that isn't anything special, you want to bring in some real pros. The we've had so many entertained contact that we thought that we couldn't even they wouldn't be interesting to see none of the movie and pay as well, because they do this, since you believe in the brand of Sam, and they, they can see what we, we want to and the fifties. Raising proceeds fool make a wish. But when you sing for from American idol, the voice, and to each again every perform every speaker we have this eighteen minute with entertain this appropriately even less, but it's so powerful this rule talent. And that's one of the things that we're most excited about sharing the, the thing that and it's not even just a band or singer pooling on stage. The whole thing is very theatrical. We really is a show calling it a stem show because the lighting smoke when people come on stage is beautiful music. It's not like just an auditory with somebody comes with the Qatar. Nothing wrong with that. But this is a show. They see something where you're gonna come away thinking that was quite emotional powerful, and say, we want to do is we mentioned in this. We want to do the whole left brain right lane thing, we want to entertain rain was right. As is, you know, you'll creative rain is, is enjoying the process. Sane we flip we take left. We. And come back again. Wilk close comedian, the for example out in doing fifteen minutes, and we'll be lofty that we go into about. Grow up basements, could be ready to this issue. He doesn't want businesses could you stop? So we kind of flipped him continually bat was great content about sales appetizing marketing and payment itself. Yeah. Sorta like exercising, we have aerobic anaerobic, you know, you want both because that's the way you're gonna get the most out of it. So it kind of makes sense to exercise the brain the same way. Yeah. Very much. So and, you know, the so much interesting. There's been so much publicity recently about the importance of brain health and the importance of laude. And it's funny how many people genuinely have a eighty routine with poverty to learn something Jordan pizzas, huge online, talks about this, every day, essentially becoming a slightly version of yourself incremental growth, something such the same event will allow myself, you know. Wait to love to come away feeling you know what we can suck navigate years of sweating, instructing off L trying to execute something by learning from these people have done it. This is baffled market tested research that we can essentially save time and learn from these welcome affects, let's, let's tell people all about this, again, SAM's town. Let's give them the details. Nine to six. And that is on June fourteenth. The easiest thing if anyone listening right now would thinking, you know, maybe just exploring this funding multi to- obsolete. You know catch. There's nothing to sell the event is free. None of the speakers setting anything, you know, we genuinely wants to create experience where you come away and think that's great. And if you'd like to grab a free ticket, we, we giving away free tickets right now. Thanks, generous, allowing us to the Fum because that, that since coming, the Bill the Sam events. Calm is, let's go to and. It's very as you said. Everything's on the web page. Click it gives you name your phone number. Email address. And then we'll get tickets digital. You know, it just registered feel free tickets at the same of dot I would do it so June fourteenth fourteenth. So, you know not that far away. We'd love to extend a VIP I'm gonna throw you the. Under the bus even you travel a lot. But if you're in Vegas, but it will be flute treat to have you maybe introduce you to everybody, whether you would eat. Yes, I will be there. And I am planning to come on the Thursday. I am definitely there. So I'm looking forward to it. That would be a tree. Let's, let's make sure we definitely get to say hi to be have a man them say something be great. It sounds great. Chris. Thank you so much. We'll be there. We'll talk to you. Staving appreciate time. Thank you so much. Thank you. One thing that always prizes visitors about Vegas is the variety of incredible museums, one of those museums, the atomic museum, and I had a chance to talk with the executive director of the museum, Michael..

"Not sure whether you Vinnie infiltrated try asking your smart speaker to play by station from iheartradio nothing Evans. Smart speaker and do it again. Then just listen to KFI radio station. Tim Conway junior show. Mark Thompson here on KFI AM, six forty. Well. I guess the TV ratings are in American idol is all the ratings are down don't panic. But here's the word on idol in the American idol wrapped up their additions the season. They also suffered some ratings declines on Monday night. But in what Mark the two singing competitions first head-to-head airing of the season. NBC's the voice came out. Well, ahead of the ABC show music. Really weird because you know, American idol was a wrecking ball to primetime television. When it first went on the air, you understand that it made careers. There was nothing that could touch American idol on the FOX schedule, and it blew up. Ryan Seacrest career Ryan certainly had a good career before. But it just completely blew it up. No one frankly knew who Simon cowl was. I mean, it seems inconceivable but Simon cowl his entire life. He went from the now, look, I'm not saying he was nobody. But he was nobody to an American audience and he became a household name. The key players. Some would argue in the whole idle scheme right in the the scheme of of American idol, the whole scheme of things and also blew up your career, it blew up my career as the voice of American idol, an Aaron, and I was there from the very first episode and. Were all more humble, then you didn't even introduce Ryan Seacrest that day the early days of American idol last night. They sang their job tonight. One goes home. Who stays who goes find out next live on American idol while it's just like being there all over this. Now, did they have any notes for you back down to know? This is completely off. We're going on a tangent here. But let's talk about me instead of the show you read. Did they have any notes for you? Give us one fast one slow. Yeah. That's where it is. But technical, but there was a lot. There's a lot of there's a lot more. It's in the first four seasons. And then Ryan decided that he could say everything that I said, oh, and then there's a lot less announce Ryan that explains how come Mark does all that thing at the beginning. Why can't I mean, I think I'm the host? I should do it. I've read the tabloids that you to have had a rift novel. And now, we know why I love Ryan and used to give them a hard time about it. But he did essentially take my entire thing. But what? But look he needs the money more than I do. But is it did blow up his career, and it blew up my career and everybody was a great show to be part of it is also a great show to hang out on you parlayed that into so many world's craziest video. And and the Guinness world record. I mean the Guinness world record show. I think predated it. But I I don't it lead anywhere. It's a great calling card to be able to say, so whatever I heard your voice on American idol. Words, this is American idol. But the the deal on American idol is and the point I'm trying to make is that no one could get near it. I mean, it was destroying everything that was anywhere near it on the other networks, and so all these careers blew up American idol was wrecking ball for season after season. Even after Simon Callow left. It continued to be this powerful machine. And so the other networks had to find their own versions of American idol. And the voice was just that. It was like the first answer to American idol that you know, that another network had cooked up, and then, of course, a GT and all the, you know, these, and then as it turns out, there's just an assembly line of talent shows and singing shows. Show. It's just weird to hear that the idol ratings are down now idols over at ABC..
