NHL team won't wear Pride jerseys, citing new Russian law

"A National Hockey League team with a Russian player has decided against wearing special warmup jerseys to commemorate pride night, citing an anti gay Kremlin law that could imperil Russian athletes when they return home. The Chicago Blackhawks will not wear pride themed warm up jerseys before Sunday's game against Vancouver. Chicago Blackhawks coach, Luke Richardson, says he hopes the decision does not take away from what the team is doing. "Want to thank the hockey team, the Sam Jose sharks. For proving that my belief that the left is trying to decimate western civilization is accurate. I mean, literally accurate. They don't even know it. Because they are so far gone, the crappy education that they got at whatever college they went to at the San Jose sharks. Reinforced the idiotic and evil belief that western civilization is no better than any other. So I have proof for you, it's again a National Hockey League team, I love hockey. I will admit that if I lived in San Jose, it would become difficult for me to go to a shark game and support people who are actively undoing western civilization. So here is the story. It's from Fox News, but not but the butt was only that you can get it from any number of places. The San Jose sharks touted the existence of a third, this is a direct quote. A third or even fourth and 5th gender. You know, and I know that I'm being selfish here when I say this, but, you know, sometimes those tough times needed hockey, you know? As something. I mean, everything was just down. You couldn't go anywhere. It was almost like, it was almost like a national God was outside your door going up and down the streets, just telling everybody to stay inside, do not come out. I've seen this terrible thing in movies. But it was good that, you know, the leagues fought through what they could, you know, to get back on track and try to get some money generated by, you know, not having the fans in the building, but also playing on the ice. You know, it was a slow process to get back. And it continues to be a slow process to recover. The league has recovered financially and obviously that's what drove the rumor of the salary cap going up to possibly 4 million and so on was those funds were paid back way ahead of time. But it was just a real tough time for me personally, you know? You had to go to work. You go home. That was it. You couldn't do anything. It was just boring. It was like so boring. And I hopefully that never happens again. I really hope so because I don't know if the league like the American Hockey League will ever be able to survive again like that. I mean, the thunderbirds didn't play at all. Like when they came back, the AHL came back briefly in the thunderbirds all, I think there's 7 different privately owned owners. You know, they own their own businesses here and their businesses were getting one guy who owns the team has like 7 Dunkin Donuts. And the Dunkin's crap the bed, right? And they said, we financially can't do it without fans. And they just didn't play. And you know, I'm blessed that we had Saturday night Friday night and Saturday night this week. We're both sellouts at the mass mutual center. Like, we're back. And they're still, they still feel the heat from that year off. And the people working in the front office have changed for reasons like that, you know? But. That was really tough. And I'm blessed looking back on it on the bubble because I think we needed that. Like you said, we really needed that and music and sports and my only two things is my favorite bands couldn't go on tour and my favorite teams couldn't play. And musicians found a way to get new fresh content out to people. The sports world tried their best to do the same thing, even though it was in a bubble. And like you said, it was boring. I was sitting in this exact same spot every morning, I wake up, come down here, produce a live radio show from the basement. That was it. Go back upstairs, you know? I never got out of my sweatpants, you know? It was a tough, it was a tough time. And you know, I remember, I remember the last game before that was the thunderbirds did a sensory friendly game where there wasn't loud noises and there wasn't the goal horn and it was for kids that get scared by flashing lights and loud noises and all that stuff. And there ended up being like a 160 something penalty minutes.

"Went out and got trust from certain people. I create relationships. It's not just like a slide into somebody's DMs and say, hey, wow, wow, wow. I actually know these people and so on. So when I get something across my board, I either run with it or not. I make the choice of saying, I don't know if that one's going to be good. And the more less I'm like, I don't know if that's going to be good for Twitter. You know, because that's how you make a decision now, because it's such a fine line right now. If you make a simple mistake, you cast your eyes for the rest of your life. It's so ridiculous. So they jump on it. Somebody screws up like you screwed up and it's like, yeah, exactly. Have you ever hit a golf ball on the trees, man? Sometimes you sometimes you hit a golf ball to the trees, man, like that happens. Get over it. But I will say that I did appreciate Jacob loco, you know, kicking back to me a little bit, you know? Good for him, you know? He's right. He would know best. Then he went out and played a hell of a game. So he should be thanking you. I know. And then I'm the one that says, I'm the one that said, Jacob loco has a possibility. All right, I don't know if anybody out there YouTube viewers or anything like that. And I don't have a picture yet. But what I did say was I heard that Jacob loco and Mike Riley would be in scratched. I never added for trade purposes or anything like that in the American Hockey League. People get scratched all the time. So I just left it as that. And everybody else took it as they would be, they would be in scratch for a trade purpose. That's not what that's not the information that I got. So, I mean, it is trade season that is crazy time put two and two together. I get how people can freak out about it. But I just got some bad info then I moved it forward and I apologize. I'm a man that you don't need anymore. That's my mistake. I mean, really. People can get people can get over it. Including Jacob Blanco, who did, and then had a great game. And Riley, what I had. So exactly. Both of them stick it in my face. Real quick as we talk about because we do have two calls we want to get to as well and at some point here I got to get a shower and get ready to go to springy for a little Sunday afternoon tilt. "And a guy that younger prospects that are developing can lean on for that, you know, how to hit how to fight, how to be aggressive and so on. Because you know, you need to teach all these kids that as well. The game is just not take the puck and put it and then that the game is surveying the ice and being prepared. You're preparedness in split second situation is huge at this level because the game is evolving. It's getting so much faster. The kids are getting more creative. And I think that you need coaching like Adam mcquade and what he brought to the Boston Bruins organization. And now he can teach the younger people that we have to be ready at this level at the American Hockey League level, and even at the ECHL level, you have to be ready because everything comes at you just a little bit faster than where you previously came from and where you got your development. S Paris says, I'm sorry, as Paris says, I listened to the podcast for a while now. Thank you very much. Paris. Appreciate that. Always love the support. Boom. Caroline, oh my God, I immediately trade swam in for kale makar. Who else wants to go to call for Otto? I love Caroline with a K she's awesome. It looks a boy. I take my confidence away any day. Luke says, I'm finally heading to Boston for my first ever bruins game in March, can't wait. Well, hopefully it's after the trade deadline and you might be able to see some new acquisitions come to the team. Safe travels Luke. Robert, I've never seen Robert and I'm not even going to try to save this last name at all. But thank you very much, Robert for tuning in. I think you're new here and I appreciate the support. At some point, they won't be able to pay two goalies over 10 million. We can get lots of assets for one of them and high draft picks. Bam, that's what kind of my thought too. It's like, I'm not a swayman hater and so on, but I just see where the salary cap is going, and I can see him being a very attractive piece to another. Another NHL team. Goaltenders, there's not many of them. I mean, the 64 or 60 whatever for each team. I mean, for the league. And then you get your minor pros and so on. So there's really not that many.

"But I will say that I don't think that right now, Jason, that Fabian lysell is automatically sketched into a top 6 role. I think he's going to have to earn that. I don't want to see him on the fourth line. If he's going to be on the fourth line then I'd rather see him in Providence getting top line minutes and that offensive capability can flourish, where the fourth line and the NHL getting grinding minutes, not many of them. And you're not really not, I mean, you were out there for penalty kill and so on, but a player like him and his skill set is needed to be shown and showcased in your top 6, like Monty said. But as of right now, I'm not seeing it in his AHL game that screams, we need to get him in the NHL even next year at a top 6 role. I think he works his way up. And I think he'll be a benefiting factor of a guy like a puck possession master like coil. You know, the way Fabian lysell is acting like a sponge down in Providence right now is all good attributes. It's all good. I'm not knocking the player at all. I'm not saying he's a bust and I'm not saying he's never going to be in the NHL. But right now it's just he's a European player, a very talented one. And I think that he still needs to adjust to the pro game. You know, I mean, one full season in the dub last year with a Vancouver giants, a really good year too, by the way. And a pretty solid season down in the American Hockey League against men. And players of different ages and how they grind on you and how they don't and how fast the American Hockey League can come at you. I just think that he just needs to develop a little bit more before getting a top 6 role sketch. I mean, automatically written right in. But great question though, and talks a little bit about the prospects and as well. Total credit to a player like Vinny, who sadly, sadly is injured. He got injured in his first practice in his first recall up to Boston at the warrior ice arena. So he's got a lower body injury. And

"If you're not following the story in hockey, there is a hockey player again. I don't watch hockey at all. It's become a completely irrelevant sport. I don't wish them well. I think some of the athletes are really great people, but they've been captured by the very same woke virus. I hope the NHL goes through some restructuring and I think that's going to require some misery and pain. If any of you are avid hockey fans, you're going to have to explain to me exactly what about hockey and the values or the lack thereof of the National Hockey League that speaks to you. I hope their stadiums remain empty and I hope they go bankrupt because what they are doing is so aggressive. It is so hostile. It is so insistent that if you do not subscribe to the chemical castration of children to the trans agenda, we are going to isolate you, we're going to punish you, again, these are the people that the best way to explain the kind of new alphabet mafia is the people that came out of the closet now want you to live in the closet. It's not about inclusivity. It's about revenge. Okay, so you have Ivan provorov. Okay, he refused in the warm ups to wear a rainbow flag Jersey because he said it goes up against his Russian Orthodox religion, which is exactly right. And he also refused to use their hockey stick, and immediately it's exactly like that Seinfeld episode. What do you mean you don't want to wear the ribbon? Do you not support gay people? And the pressure of the entire national news media found another person to hate. Oh wow, he's Russian too. I bet he's Friends with Putin. And immediately, all of the otherwise miserable. Actually, they're still miserable. Chattering class of the twitterati and the mainstream press goes and attacks Ivan provorov. Let's play cut 60 NHL flyers defenseman. On refusing to wear the rainbow Jersey for warm ups, God bless him. Seriously. Play cut 60. Everybody, I respect everybody's choices. My choice is to stay true to myself and my religion. That's all I'm going to say.

"Yeah, absolutely. I agree. I think that just like with these prospects, I know everyone wants to do like just throw them into the fire, like Maddie beniers was, well, Maddie Benz is throwing electric stuff for the Seattle crack in this year in a second year. The hingham kid is doing great stuff for the crack in this year. And I know people like Shane writes a good example of that too. I mean, you gotta like get them experience. He played in the world juniors with car bedard. He actually had a good world juniors, but like also, you gotta think about him being in the American Hockey League and just developing more. I mean, people, I'm like one of those people as well. I mean, I gotta own up to it. I'm one of those people that want to do trial by throw them into the fire right away, get Fabian lysol into the into the fold. I think his skill level is off the charts, but people don't realize it comes with patience, like you said. To develop these guys. And that having AHL experience again all different age groups, different guys that have pro experience, different guys that have been in there for a while can show lysol to ropes. So I think that's something that us fans often overlook is that at any time. Another thing it's like a lot of folks look at stats. And they can judge like, oh, this guy's a great player because he's a point per game, or his plus minus is through the roof, which I always think is just a shitty stat. But what folks are not looking at and I'm not sure if they pay the 7 9 9 to live stream a game or two when someone and watch Fabian lysell without the puck. That's the thing that he needs to stay in the American Hockey League for the remainder of the season and learn. He's a European player that just came over to play last season in the WHL with the Vancouver giants. So still relatively new to 200 by 85 ice. He needs where the bigger ice over in Europe, he allowed to be more creative and so on, which was really good. There was a really highlight moment and so on. But when the things get tighter to you, you need to learn how to play more defensive and I want to see his game progress away from the puck, not just with his skill set with the puck.

"You know, they came in fourth, Sweden came in fourth, obviously. But yeah, it's just the narrative out there is just, you know, when people watched and play, some folks said that he was making impacts even though he wasn't scoring points. And I agree with that. There was sometimes that, you know, you could see his offensive capabilities come through. Little snake bitten on a couple posts and so on. But I really think that blossom fans just so, you know, fire from the hip type of folks that, you know, I mean, the Boston Bruins, they see that, you know, the Boston Bruins fans see that, hey, we could make an improvement to go for the Stanley Cup. This would be a great piece to use. But they're also forgetting what the future would look like when the prospect pool, if that happens. You're taking steps back. Now I'm not saying that Fabian lysell is the next week Gretzky and so on. But nobody knows that. We don't know what we have until he gets to the NHL. But the other thing is it's like Don tiano last week and it told us that it doesn't matter what he's doing in a tournament like this, what you should be focused on is how he's playing against men in the American Hockey League and he's a point for game player. You don't give up on something like that. Legitimately, this is the right wing in that prospect pool is very weak, and it has been since David passed an act was drafted. So you just don't want to give away a player like this. And I just think that we need just a little more patience, you know, and also for the ones that are like, all right, so the world June tournament is over. We need to get lysol in the NHL as soon as possible. That's a no for me as well. I just think that he needs to spend the rest of the season in Providence where he is right now. He did not play in last night's game. I'm not sure why, but he might be into today's lineup. I'm not totally sure. The province for once have a game at 3 p.m. today, which I'm going to be watching. Against the Utica comets. But I'm not, I'm not ready to throw in the towel on a prospect like this. I just think that a lot of fans, they don't put they don't invest the time enough to really seriously watch him in the American Hockey League or any of these tournaments that he's been in. But when they do see a tournament as illustrious like the world juniors, which is an unbelievable worldwide coverage. And they see that and it's a little disheartening for them. But just take a couple breaths and step back and just let the guy develop. He's 19 years old, you know? We haven't seen anything from him yet. We're going to see a lot more of him as he continues to develop. Yeah, and maybe it's maybe it's the recent draft history that makes spruance fans lose their mind and I mean, I can get that. "This guy's got stories to tell. And he's willing to tell them. And he's willing to say stuff. And ultimately, when we finally finished the manuscript and submitted it to lane said to me, you were right. It was a story we needed to tell. Yeah, I would absolutely was. I'm curious for you. What were some surprising stories that he told that what were some things whether it was there anything he said that you were like, wow, I didn't know that or you kind of shocked by. I didn't know a lot of the minor league stuff obviously. I spent 8 years in the American Hockey League with the main Mariners, Sean spent a long time in the minor leagues as well. So we kind of bonded and connected. I think we both had similar experiences at the minor league level. It was the wild wild west back then. It sounds like it does sound it. It absolutely was. And you know, so I think that that was fun for me. I had no idea until we started writing the book that Sean was named for a character played by John Wayne in a movie. You know, John Wayne was a boxer from Pittsburgh named Sean Thornton. And I had no idea that it was his grandmother's favorite movie, and she convinced Sean's mom to name him Sean Thornton and the rest was history. Yeah, no, that clearly was a tone setter for the rest of his life. So now with this, I mean, do you plan on doing more books? Are there any? Is there any people you have your eye on for potential future books, any current bruins that you're like, huh, that guy would be an interesting, I could think of a few current bruins would be interesting now. Triumph is already asked me to come up with the next one. There you go. And I've been working on it. And like I teased you before, I'm probably not going to say anything. Because we don't have a contract written at this point. We did with the other one, but there are several people who I think would be a book worthy and who I think would be fun. I also have an idea in the back of my head, which has to do with a not bruins centric book more of a league wide book. And if I can talk triumph into it, let's just say the fans who like the Sean Thornton book will like this one too because I think it sort of travels the same highways and byways. Yeah, no, I mean, hey, hockey fans will eat any hockey book up and this one should eat up. Chew it up. Fight it my way to the top. It's a great book. I highly recommend it for Christmas gift or for any get new.

Renovations Put Seattle Hockey Arena Closer to Zero-Carbon Goal

"Seattle crack and will join the national hockey league. This fall when the puck drops on their home ice. It'll be inside a stadium. That's designed with more than hockey goals in mind seattle's old keyarena was recently renovated and it's been renamed. Climate pledge arena by amazon which acquired the naming rights the name highlights goal set by amazon and more than fifty other companies becoming carbon neutral by twenty forty the arena itself will be carbon neutral much sooner. There's a lot agree momentum and opportunity to have meaningful impact here. Logan gerkin is with mortensen. The firm renovating the arena. His team improved the buildings energy efficiency and replace systems that ran on natural gas with electric. And so this encompass changes in all of the kitchen cooking facilities boilers hot water. Heaters air handling units even the zamboni that smooths. The ice is now electric. As a result the arena can be completely powered by renewable energy to compensate for any emissions that remain the arena will purchase carbon offsets and while hockey fans may hate zero points on the scoreboard. Zero carbon is a goal worth shooting for.

And that was it the Providence Bruins beat up on the Utica comets 62 Kyle Kyser gets his third win of the Season. He stopped 25 or seven shots and his look really good in his rise to the American Hockey League recovering. Well, what are swimming have made trips to Boston to you know to be the backup home so and so it's a whole up shift and and and you know Kaiser it's been tough for him last season. I talk about this all the time the concussion issues in the OHL the concussion issues in the American Hockey League in the East Coast Hockey League last year that really stepped back his development a little bit goes down to Jacksonville the East Coast Hockey League this year. Yep. Nicki had a seven and seven record his goals against average was approaching for his save percentage was 9:15 910 something around there and then comes up but the the the Jacksonville Icemen just not structurally a good team. So it's really hard that you know, a lot of mistakes in front of him are getting you know taking he's getting taken advantage of because that's that's really bad terminology. I'm sorry, but the East been playing decent, you know, he's that's what you want from a developing goal time that you want to see shots. You want to see different opportunities and you were stuff like that and and his rise to the a gel to fill in has been great. I mean once he sees a better structured defense in front of them, then this kid is really good. I mean, he's locked in on Thursday on Square to the Pok tracks the fuk. Well good positioning good athleticism, you know, and I think that he's still involved in, you know, discussions next year to be dead. A full-time or in the American Hockey League, which is not a bad thing. So but that's pretty much it for the Providence Bruins. Like I said, they have six games left. Not sure what's going to happen with the college playoffs..

"Pete. Deboer said on outs translator where he doesn't expect it to be like a long term thing. I i think you can expect that he would come back at some point. This season so on defense. I think you feel okay. And and yeah. Unless you're gonna swing for the fences. Which i don't see why you would do and i don't see who is even available to bolster your top six in that regard it would have to be adapted guy and if you're going to go out and make all these different moves and give up when maybe the solution is inside your own house. You know maybe that that makes you look internally instead of solving the problem outside. No i think that's a really good point Payton krebs was acquaint per game guy basically in the american hockey league when he got his chance. There jack do is currently a point per game guy in the american hockey league. Almost all assists. I think he's got a twelve assists compared to two goals so his linemates must be very very happy playing with him. We'll have to obviously see if the organization considers either of those guys. Nhl ready because of course neither has made their debuts yet but they certainly would come cheaper than a lot of the other potential options out there and the thing that obviously hangs over all of this and makes intriguing as the nights are kind of handicapped. But we'll see what the other teams and their division ended up doing because the other teams are still restricted but less so than the nights. The wild have some room to work with if they want to add anything. The avalanche have some room to work. With and i'm curious. If their general manager joe sakic is going to try to at least tinker with his lineup. Because they've got some contracts that need renewing or extensions this coming off season so money is about to get a lot tighter over there in denver so this might be one of the last time. They're able to kind of really make push and add some significant pieces so that's obviously something to keep an eye just because as obviously everyone knows these teams only play each other during the regular season. And they're only gonna play each other. The first two rounds the playoffs so it is interesting that they are just basically directly matching up with each other and a lot of ways. It doesn't really matter to the nights at least initially if you know. Toronto does anything if tampa bay does anything. If carolina does anything it matters to them what colorado minnesota and potentially saint louis does but i think saint louis has a little bit more restricted. I thought cameron had some interesting things to say about how he kind of asked to evaluate his team a little bit differently this year because that compared to previous years dave. Yeah you know that was actually a conversation that he and i had it was. It was interesting to hear what he had to say in terms of like the actually feel like they have a pretty good grasp on you know where they stock up. I sorta prison to the tomb in the context of you know you haven't played tampa this year. You haven't played any of the canadian teams like does that. Change your view of yourself. Does it make it harder to kind of i. Guess self evaluate dc. You know. obviously they're really good. Obviously there's some teams in their division that.

From Public Defender To Stanley Cup Champion

"So joe for those who might not follow the nhl super closely. Can you just give us a sense of what jon cooper has accomplished during his as a coach in the nhl. Definitely jon cooper is the longest tenured coach shell. He's on an eight th anniversary of his hiring on this week. The winningest coach in franchise history for the lightning. And i think he's highly regarded as one of the better coaches in the league and probably a candidate coach team. Canada at the next olympics are positions and olympics for the trump player so deadly highly regarded coach but up until this past season. He hasn't won the big one and that was kind of the big question surrounding it. And how would you describe his personality. Well he's a players go. She's a really fun personality. Like you quotes wedding crashers. Upper seventy six. No excuses public champion. You uses a champion. The only person you have to answer to when you go home at night is really yourself. The national media loves him because he is a great world this charismatic. You're going to get knocked down. There's no question people are going to push down. Because ultimately they want to see it fail if you think maybe teams on trips to like field of dreams when he was in earlier years coaching. He's all about the different sides and binding guys together on the ice and that if you get is connected as a group and the for each other and very process over outcome kind of guy and so you definitely has that charisma that makes them unique. I think the players like that. We'll show you recently. Wrote about how jon cooper has followed perhaps the most unconventional path of any stanley cup winning coach. So take us back to the late. Nineteen ninety s. What was john. Cooper's lifelike at that time he was living in a condo east lansing area couple remains but he was just trying to figure out where you wanted to be in his life. What he wanted to do for work. He was good ball. Charismatic lawyer but his heart wasn't in it always always wondering when is the fulfillment. When are you going to sit there and wake up every day and say. I can't wait to go do what i'm gonna do. He was defender district court in lansing michigan about a thousand dollars a month. You know we're going for indigent clients. He was working on. du is having divorces. You've got a two person law. Office him in a paralegal. He's still didn't know i guess. Were taken at that point. And you got in touch with the judge. Who worked with jon cooper back. Then what did he say about cooper skills in the courtroom and you just notice and how clients clients listen to prosecutors respected him i think is the kind of ability that transcends coaching the ability to persuade players to adopt your system or just believe the approach. So you know. He's he's a good salesman. He always says convincing players. Convincing a jury and i don't think he knew then that it would be kind of the key to him. Maybe starting coaching career. So how did jon cooper go from being this lowly paid lawyer and a former lacrosse player. Who had only played a year of club hockey in college to being high school hockey coach. Well the run in his son playful lansing catholic high school and they needed a coach and so he knew of john skills on the ice and new of his charisma and then he is asked to one day in the building. I saw the coach. would you be interested. He looks at me and goes. Dc the stack of resumes. I have he says. I'll tell you one thing you coach kids high school hockey team and i will take your resume from here. We put it here. Just this exactly. That was his first kind of foray into coaching hockey. Was nine thousand nine hundred nine hundred thousand lansing catholic cougars hockey team and that was seventeen. You actually talked to some of the players on that lansing catholic team. What did they tell you about jon. Cooper the high school coach. I think what's interesting knees. They remember the first meeting in the cafeteria where he's using himself to like twenty kids and parents and those us have just nervous as they were and are waiting to hear whereas the hockey background. Who did he coach before. Because one of the red wings was he part of this huge talk about law school in wall street and this guy another guys were in the nhl players. Even highly college players inducted himself would be anywhere high in coaching world. A reflection of guys play together. I think they'll be the first ones to tell you. None of them really on the track to make the national hockey league but they were such a joy to be around the competed their butts off just line. Who an awkward gesture. The of funny kid and team talked about like there was a hill just a mile from the school that the workouts outside the big hill. The he must've just saw he was driving around and he made us run up this hill with do bear calls and stuff. That is the source. I've ever been my life like. I could not long like off chris. Monrovia now works the red wings. Illitch family talked about how they had this practice where they had no on the ice and they're doing push ups and sit ups and kristin ross. Who served in the military students in afghanistan he goes. I went through the army for seven years. And i went through a lot of work out a lot of hellish days. Afghans dead. That's one of those days that i think back much. It's not as bad as back. And what else did you learn about his coaching philosophy back. Then you know like what were the things that were important to him that he really emphasized to the team. Making guys feel connected or part of it no matter if you were the best player on this team or like the thirteenth forward and i think jeff swan is appropriate examples. Like i wasn't the most natural coordinated like county out now who put me not aligned with the two players. Mike sack out with the most gifted athlete. That are high school in you. The team is better holding. Some of its part. They wanted them to play. Have have meaning and swan. Storing the biggest fools that season the most for player that year. So you know. He's told everyone the most improved player really halls like a special place for him. Something he takes lightly. It was a really really nice compliment. They talked about the hard hat that they gave out. After every win which was an all white instruction half that was something that the player of the game whether at block shot or a big hit or in ceremony the post game. We'll get this production. How they put their name and a sharpie but it was more of a. What did you do to help the team. Really recognizing layers who maybe didn't shop scores sheep but who are just dedicated themselves to helping the team. These success those are moments that came together that they remember forever and become an integral part of their story on a way to winning out like the championship. Well this sort of ragtag bunch of guys did win an unlikely state regional championship in almost mighty ducks kind of way and joe as you talks to all these guys who played for jon. Cooper what connections. Were you able to make between cooper the coach of the lansing catholic cougars and cooper the coach of the stanley. Cup champion tampa bay. Lightning guesswork me. Talking to guys. That new men who've now that he hasn't changed much in terms of his personality he had kind of style which coach's house you through professional level versus coaching. high school. Kids a lot of the same kind of tenants but he had then he still uses today. Kerry that floss with me all the way through the nhl in onto the honestly. It doesn't really change. Human beings are human beings and everybody needs to be motivated. It's just finding the right way to motivate. Rose stood up in my living room and watch the game and cheer tampa. You're welcome. you're welcome for started. His rise

"Another hockey game. Good morning from our Mercedes Benz of playing a sports extensive land. They were supposed to play Nashville Monday at the American Airlines Center when that game was suddenly postponed about an hour before they were scheduled to start In Tuesday's game against the Predators also postpone because of the severe weather in North Texas and the ongoing power outages, and now we find out tonight's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning that's been postponed. People are asking who's responsible on the call that ultimately play or not play a game with stars the NHL the city of Dallas, somebody else that asked National Hockey League said they are responsible for postponing games. The decision comes after close consultation with clubs affected and local authorities. Alison Tampa Bay are as of right now scheduled to play Saturday at the American Airlines Center. "Off the other team's power play, so it's gonna be really important. I think the lightning, in addition to keeping things simple tonight will realize the significance of Um You know there to play? Well, they have to stay discipline. And that means keeping the Florida Panthers who've had a really good power play so far this season off their power play and just limit their opportunity. Can't fuel their offense. Um, you know, there's just little ways and their effort is gonna Help them hopefully, but the face officer is gonna be a big question Mark tonight, I think. You know, you wonder if you could get a little bit of a lift from a guy like Jemele Smith coming into the lineup, Kaylie playing the first time and quite some time for him, I'm sure he's gonna be excited and There's gonna be a lot of energy. I think he brings the lineup tonight. At least you'd hope so. Yeah, I think that's what John Cooper talked about. You know, not this past training camp to get ready for this season, but the previous one getting to watch him up close and talking with him. During training camp was a lot of fun. He seems like a great player, a great person in the locker room. And on top of it. I think that's the word John Cooper used was an energy guy. He likes to have the puck on a stick. He goes to the dirty areas. He battles in the corners and the boards. So I think he's a player. You know who's who's very talented and he's played well in the American Hockey League, and he'd love A chance like this to come up and prove himself so that somebody who I think for sure is going to step up in the situation. I'm looking forward to watching him. Kaylie. Great job is always will talk to you again during the first intermission report. Thanks, Greg. Right. That is Kaylie Chelios. And we're about 15 minutes away before the puck drops between the Lightning and Panthers. John Cooper. He's up next right here on letting radio highlighting.

"You know, there is a touch of new and modern On Henderson. Vincent is going to be just that It is going to be an absolute state of the art Jule in the American hockey leak at the same time, it's It's also fun to have what we have now, which is on older building that has some hockey history and some older bones and some character to it. You know some of the time Sometimes you go into buildings and in the Northeast the although Wilkes Barre is one that I got to go to the last year when I was working the American Hockey League and you know it's it's a little less shiny. It's a little bit more concrete, but it's It's got character and it's got a different energy to it. It's fun to go into those old buildings, so I know we have You said there's a lot of players on NHL contracts and you know they like going to these buildings, too. It's probably no different not not to compare that to directly because that would be foolish, But it's you know the same sentiment of why, you know players that go into Fenway Park in Wrigley Field. No, they're not concerned about lack of amenities there saying, Well, how cool is this? You know guys who go into older buildings for private the same and you know they're players. We had Derek England coaching during the preseason a little bit down. That was awesome. DHL coaching staff is very cool, baby. He he talked about playing at the Orleans Arena. And then how much fun it was and, you know, reminisce a little bit about that. The midnight games so You know, the benders events there went time to move in is going to be phenomenal. But in the meantime and I think Tol, Pa Linkage for Vegas minor league hockey fans who did go to Wrangler games and and even further back before that, and now we're becoming Henderson's overnight stand. It's kind of a fun transition to introduce a little bit of the old. Azzawi embrace the new and what's to come. So if you're just joining us to figure Brian McCormack, he is the voice of the Henderson Silver Nights. They got off to a great start there, too. And no now on the season, so Brian, Here's something that I think is great news for people here in Las Vegas, as you know, Sadly, you know, not everybody can afford to go to Vegas. Golden Knights can I wish they could. The games are expensive. Most professional hockey games are not cheap to go to. I remember back in the day. When I was a whaler season ticket holder with my dad. Those tickets were only 50 Bucks seats for lower section seats. You ain't getting those prices anymore anywhere, especially not in a Vegas Golden Knights game. But this gives an opportunity for families to be able to go to it on a chill hockey game, watch some really good quality hockey and do it in an affordable way. And I think this will give an opportunity for four people in Las Vegas and in the state into that and be able to go to these games. I think that is the biggest selling point. Besides the quality of the hockey the price Right? The accessibility absolutely is massive, and it works on on several fronts. But as you you mentioned affordability is his huge Ondo also access to the players. Now again. We're in a unique circumstances right now. But when things do return to normal, you know the connection that minor league hockey teams can have with their community. Is often a lot more direct than what any teams can have just based on scheduling availability, that young idiot more opportunity out into the community. More opportunity for, you know, autograph signings and then meet the team kind of events. Minor league teams just usually usually have an opportunity to do more things like that. So you know, the fans were coming down to the games. You're gonna have Ah, real. Connection with a lot of these players and not unusual in minor league towns for you fans of know that they have a first name basis with a lot of Henderson players in this case that they might not have with Vegas Golden Night players, but I think another thing that's huge, for it is just the footprint of the game. Not only are there you know good ticket prices that the fans can take advantage of it. It's also It almost twice as many hockey games on the schedule and to have the proximity to the Vegas Golden Knights, where the Orleans Arena is just a couple traffic lights down the road from T Mobile. Yes, there's a chance for Golden Knights management to go and keep an eye on their prospect. That's huge. Advantage and for for players have an easy commute. When they get called up. Whereas lasted, they would've had to fly in from Chicago. Now they get the ghost Gangel right down the road. They sleep in the same bed that same night. In addition to that, for hockey fans, who and I'm I've learned since I've gotten here a few weeks ago. How rapidly excited hockey fans are in this city, Not just about the Vegas hold nice but about hockey. You're gonna be able to see the prospects as well. So, for example, right now, Payton Krebs, who was 17th overall pick in 2019 for Vegas, one of the most exciting prospect organization, As you know, you can watch him on a Wednesday night and go to Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday. You know here are the Golden Knights on tight. No, they're not. But Henderson place. Well, let's go see that There's going to be hockey to follow every single night. And that's just tremendous town that loves the game. As much as Vegas. Does. You mentioned him..

Inside The National Women's Hockey League's Coronavirus Bubble

"League is off to a rocky start. It just began its two weeks season in a bubble in upstate New York, and today, one team dropped out because of Corona virus infections. For another team. The tournament is a chance to win a championship that was taken away by the pandemic last year. Remember station GBH. Esteban Gusteau's has more from Boston. As the days ticked down towards the Isabel Cup final last March, the Boston Pride seemed poised to add yet another trophy to their collection with the 23 1 record, a championship felt inevitable. The only thing that could stop the hockey team, it turns out was the coronavirus. The in WHL postpone the final a day before the championship game as the sports world began so wise up to the viral threats. Eventually it got canceled altogether. "Same situation really good young prospects that I think have done extremely well. So far, Suitor and courage have done well. Mitchell has had his moments and as he learns it's tougher. As the Blackhawks ice the park. It's much tougher to learn the game as a defenseman, that it is a forward because you're making the stakes on bear getting quality opportunities because of it. If you make a mistake up front is a Ford A lot of times you've got other people to kind of filter through that, But I really liked with a scene from the younger players here on the black cocks. I think that the future is bright for these kids Suitor. Encourage Shiv upfront, especially You mentioned the Red Wings and their development? Can't I couldn't count the number of players that have developed in Grand Rapids in the American Hockey League and then made that trip down to Detroit to stay. They don't an excellent job developing their prospects in a great situation right there in the state of Michigan. Just on the other side. Now back inside the hock zone. Behind the net. Oquist went to get the puck tied up by Val Terry Filppula, who's strokes the pump to the left point. Danny Dekeyser there. Product of Western Michigan Dekeyser now from the high slot fires. That's black by David Campus. He got in front of the shot just squeezed his shin pads together whose puck taken back by the wings from the line here is being a with a Dr wanking and down with a butterfly save. And then the fucker spun back out over the line to center ice. That by voluntary Filppula in front of the bench is they battle for the puck, Christian juice, got a tear and shot into the hot blue line. Connor Murphy there for the Hawks is the teams are in line changes, Trade, said some poorly opportunities. So far more chances in the Blackhawks having their defensive. I've been surprised at how aggressive they have been in the offensive zone coming way down there almost like they don't have anything to lose type of attitude, but Jeff blast, Shields said that this team was going to play a lot more aggressive and Blackhawks after react a little bit quicker in their own end of the ice now Lincoln and stops the puck along the dasher behind the hawk net, then spends it around the left wing glass.

"Six richmond road or one seventy metcalf. Now let's get to the million dollar question. Gord are the sends going to be any good this year and they're going to be filled with veterans or finally youngsters now. Dj smith has already indicated that This team will have more rookies in its lineup than any of the other teams in the canadian division so It's going to be a young team sprinkled in. We'll be some veterans like derrick. Step in and i know we're all a little bit taken aback by the acquisition of step on the acquisition of thirty five year. Old grade coburn from tampa bay along with cedric. The cat But it's a team that you can't win the majority of games with the youth movement with the infusion of no matter how well they played in belleville of the american hockey league last year it was still the american hockey league and so the job and going from the h. L. to the nhl is massive. And it's perhaps even bigger for eighteen nineteen twenty year old young man and they need some veteran presence and to that. And that's why the likes of derek stepan Will play and play an awful lot to brought into play. It's interesting you know you asked. If it's going to be a better team. And i. I really don't have a sense. We're all excited. What belleville did last year. What tim students lead did with jake sanderson has done at the world junior championships. And certainly in the case of students la. There's reason to be optimistic. But here's an eighteen year old coming in. And we tend to forget sometimes fellas that this team finished thirtieth last year and thirty first year before that and then make the playoffs the year before that the client has massive for this team to get better while other teams are getting better as well. so I couldn't tell whether this is going to be a five hundred hockey club or a team that may be over five hundred and sniff around for a playoff spot. My own personal thought is. It's got a lot of work to do and There is hope and there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. But i i'm not sure it's bright light as it stands right now right. So let's talk a little bit about tim. Studiously mentioned him a moment ago. Any dazzled everybody at the world juniors. It was fantastic. What is the likelihood that he'll be in the opening night lineup..
