"The group in 1953 there and he started it and ended at a handful of times. He was in the process of starting it again in 1977 when he died, just right before his 40th birthday. And so I am nobody's one of my faves. I love golden rings, which they did later, but he didn't sing lead on that. So I wanted to play an Al bank sleet. And of course, I figured when you dance was too common. So 8 8 8 7 6 5 5 9 three 88 88 Raleigh, and I'm still looking at the stilling of the labels. Might all. Now, the product is might all menstrual complete. And it's got acetaminophen and caffeine and some other things I can't pronounce, and it's for cramps or bloating or fatigue. The label says, ask a doctor before use if you have difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate. Yeah, and Merck makes other things. I would think that sufferers of premenstrual syndrome aren't losing sleep over large prostates, but I guess you just never know. Then they're scrubbing bubbles, fresh brush, you see scrubbing bubbles in all the stores, you know, you use it to clean toilets right label. Do not use for personal hygiene. I guess. So on and on, it goes. And about the only thing funnier is when products are translated into other languages. And Americans are pretty bad at that all the way around in terms of that. Of course, KFC, finger looking good. Well, it was actually a cannibalistic message in Chinese. So you can imagine. And afford they made the mistake of not changing the name of the Pinto in Brazil, Pinto is the Brazilian Portuguese word for small genitals. Now, Mitsubishi, they're not an American company, obviously, but it's a mall, right? They were introducing a product that the hero to Europe. And unfortunately, in Spanish, it's referring to male genitalia. Ikea introduced a new product, a workbench, a $109 they show a lovely picture of it. It's the fart full. Yes, that's right. FAR T, if you LL, it means full speed in Swedish. However, in other countries, it drew some laughter. Then there's a Nokia, which again didn't change the name of their lumia phone. That made quite the impression in some Spanish speaking countries where lumia is translated to prostitute, Parker pens they expanded to Mexico. And they translated their slogan for the Spanish speaking part of Mexico, which would be all of it, all of us. Embarrassing, embarrassing, do sound and look similar, therefore it was probably assumed the words have the same meaning. However, in barraza means impregnate. So it won't leak in your pocket and embarrass you, was translated to, it won't leak in your pocket and impregnate you. Cores discovered the hard way that slang doesn't translate well. Do I really have to go further with the turnip loose campaign? Yeah, I didn't think so. In the Spanish language, it was drink this stuff and suffer from diarrhea. And not exactly the kind of attention course wanted, though it got a lot of attention. Pepsodent was advertising its toothpaste and part of Southeast Asia, highlighting the fact that it whitens your teeth. Well, apparently the locals chew betel nuts to blacken their teeth since black teeth are the goal. Maybe they should have played up the health benefit or something. Yeah, so not only do you need to worry about what the words might mean, but the concept itself is questionable in a number of places. Yeah. Is an Iranian company that sells a bunch of different stuff. And one that didn't go over so well in the English speaking parts of the world was their laundry soap. In Farsi, they call it snow. And actually, I have from my kuwaiti relatives. I have some of this stuff because it says right on the package. Barf. So indeed, yeah, the Iranian company thought it would be perfectly fine to market it to English speaking parts of the Arab world as barf, and they want to wonder why people weren't using it in their laundry. Now, of course, the American dairy association I probably don't have to discuss what got milk brought. The Spanish speaking world wondered why the American dairy association was asking, are you lactating? Yeah, there was I won't even tell you about a Russian company that created a joint venture with Nigeria's oil company and named a product that basically was pronounced as the N word. And they didn't have a problem with it in the world. Yes, well, until they released it, obviously. And of course, you know what happened with General Motors in the Chevy nova because nova in Spanish means more go. So there is that. And of course, in Spanish puta means prostitute that didn't stop Mazda from launching the laputa minivan, claiming in the ads, laputa is designed to deliver maximum utility in a minimum space while providing a smooth, comfortable ride, and a lightweight impact absorbing body. Well, how about that? Yeah, the Honda jazz was initially named the fitter until someone within Honda discovered that that was a vulgar word in Swedish referring to a woman's genitals. The all new fit a small on the outside big on the inside. Yeah, I don't know that that's the way you'd want it. Of course, we won't have to talk about Big Macs and Coca-Cola and all those. But you know the Spanish words, it's so common and you'd think at this point now that there would be someone in all of these companies who would know. But many years ago, I'd say it's 50 years ago now. A new radio station in Miami had come on the air and they were advertising for people to buy time. To sponsor things. And they wanted you to call their sales manager. Well, the guys name was Marty Cohen. But when you said it quickly, it would come out in the ads. Call Marty Cohen, well, of course that is the word for a derisive term for gay people. And yeah, I wondered why nobody called him. Yeah, so 888-876-5593. I'll get to Leah in Marcus hook. Oh yeah, well, see, she's the reason for the dremel warning label. And isn't that great? Yeah. We finally found somebody responsible for this. But Mike in Cleveland has some requests. So we'll get to them in moments too, so all this is more coming up right here on WGN radio.

So this first listener sent us two text messages that I just wanted to share both. So the first one was, is it bad that I've now tried eating better plane after listening to you, Kate, and I kind of love it. First time texter, longtime listener. I just want to say no, it's not bad. Butter is delicious. Welcome aboard. You've been missing out your whole life. I hope more people have been moved to just eat plain salted butter by my words. Oh my gosh, you are a butter influencer. I wish the butter community would embrace me. What if I got sponsored by kerrygold? Wow. Landing on this boxer by the American dairy association. You know, but I don't want to, I don't want to mess with other kinds of dairy. I just want that salted butter. And I want it to be good quality. A European cream is really where I'm at. No offense to American butter, but you just you're not cutting it. Italian butter, oh baby. I would literally do if someone invited me to a butter tasting, like the same way one goes to a wine tasting. I would attend that. You know, there is a restaurant here in Los Angeles that is like known for their bread and butter service and mind you. They do not just bring you a basket of bread. You have to order it's an extra charge. But part of their whole selling point is that they're butter is so delicious. And it really is. No, it's I don't know if I've ever had their butter. Okay. Oh no, we gotta go on a date. Yeah, we do. Yeah, we do. Okay. We'll just sidle up to the bar and say, get me an old fashioned and some bread and butter. Two cups of butter, please. Oh my God. Okay, that would be fun. I would love to just go eat their butter. I didn't know they were special note they were known for their butter. Okay. Yes, yes. Their butter is very good. All right, listen, anyone else wants to talk about our universe to find me? Okay, so this was then wrote another text. I have a nighttime routine hack that I recently discovered. I'm the type of person who wants to get straight in bed as soon as I feel tired. So I often skip washing my face or brushing my teeth on occasion so that I can lie down as quickly as possible. I realized, however, that if I simply wash my face and brush my teeth earlier in the night an hour or so before I get sleepy, then it's way less daunting and it makes me feel so good to be able to just jump right into bed when I'm tired. Okay, we must be the same person because I have recently kind of discovered this too. Oh. It's just a lot easier if you do those two things, like when you're a little bit more awake because then you're just more motivated to do them. I often have been known to go to sleep without brushing my teeth or washing my face. Good hack. Good hack, good hack. All right, Dory. Do you want to read this text or do you want me to read it? I can read it. Okay. Kate. Do not let Dory cut bangs. They need to be managed and it is too hard when caring for a child and dog. Also, it is harder for working out and Dory risks impacting her peloton ways. Do not do it, signed a mid 30s woman who thought re cutting bangs again in 2021 was a good idea. It wasn't. Don't let her do it. What do you think? I mean, I know. Look, I had bangs for most of my life. It's not like I don't know the deal with bangs. Did you have bangs when you had Henry? No, I'd grown them out. So you've never parented with banks. I've never parented with banks. That is correct. But I'm just saying, it's not like I don't know the upkeep that bangs require. They require a lot of upkeep. They're annoying. Like now I can go 12, 16 weeks between haircuts. Oh, I thought you were in to say between washing your hair and I was like, what? 1216 weeks before washing my hair. Yeah. Fruits I thought you were going to say days, and then when you said weeks, I was like, where is this going? But with bangs, you have to go in, even if you don't get a full haircut, you unless you can trim your own banks, which I was never really able to do. You have to go in and get a bang trim. A lot of places will just do it for free, but you still have to go in and actually do it. And actually I don't know how that is now with COVID, but that's another thing. It's like another maintenance thing that you have to do. And I always felt like my banks were either just too long or just too short. They were never just right. Yeah, this is where I would, I would be lost. The upkeep of having to go somewhere every few weeks and get a bang trim that I just couldn't handle. I mean, look, that was my life, okay? I'm no disrespect. I admire the hustle. But it's exhausting. Isn't it tomorrow? No, it's in three days. Oh, okay. By the time this comes out, it will be out. It will be done. It will be determined. You will either have bangs or you won't. Yeah. Are you leaning one way or the other? I'm not. I fully believe, I mean, I hear what this listener is saying, but I fully believe you have to let someone go on their own hair journey without trying to stop them. Oh, wow. I really do. 'cause I think it's like anything. You're never going to really know until you just go through with it and do it. You have to just do it. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, I'm going to have a Frank conversation with my hairstylist. I can't wait to hear what this goes. I'm so excited. This is a real kind of living on the edge experience because we don't know what you're going to do. And I feel like you plan ahead. You normally know. I do. But you know, I also think this is going to be an interesting test of my relationship with my hair stylist. Who I've only been seeing for about a year and a half, I would say, you know, it's not like a long time relationship. But it's like, is she just going to be a yes woman? Or is she going to really tell me what's what? Wow..

"It. Would this be the end of Emerson Fittipaldi's racing career? No, not by a long shot. Though he went home to Brazil to help run the family citrus farms and auto accessory business, Emerson could never quit racing. In 1984, a 38 years old, he joined cart. It's a racing organization. We should definitely talk about it in a future episode because Indy car and cart split. They were competing promotions basically. It's a racing series very similar to indie. Yes, yes. And they drove indie style cars, basically. He spent his first season getting used to the cars, and then eventually joined Patrick racing as an injury replacement. He spent 5 years with the team and won 6 races and had solid finishes in the overall standings. By 1989 though, Emma had officially gotten used to IndyCar racing. He managed 5 wins, one of them at the Indy 500, and placed on the top 5 of every race he completed, and became the 1989 cart champion. In 1990, he was picked up by Roger Penske for his racing team, a team he continued to thrive on. MO maintained his reputation as a top driver for cart and won at least one race with Penske for 6 straight years. Pretty good. Despite his dominance in the sport, the name Emerson Fittipaldi is best known for a single controversy in the cart world. In 1993, Emerson won his second Indianapolis 500 out from under the nose of F one world champ, Nigel Mansell. As most of our listeners probably know, it's tradition for the winner of the Indy 500 to drink a bottle of milk in victory lane. But owned several orange groves in Brazil, and so he chose to drink, orange juice. Honestly, probably better. Better for hydrating more vitamin C it is crazy. Like you just did this insane race, taking an incredible amount of physical energy. Yeah. And then you have to go drink a big thing of milk. It's gross. And if you don't drink the milk, you don't get the trophy. That's the last obstacle. Yeah, they call it the final lap. Emerson was only the second driver to not drink milk at Indianapolis since the tradition was founded in 1936, and as you might expect, the fans were pissed. Oh my God, get over it. Even though MO chased his orange juice with milk, oh God. What? No. The fans are so outraged that he forfeited $5000 from his winner's purse and had to publicly apologize the American dairy association. God. This world, man. That's so weird. But the milk snub would not be forgotten. God. Emma was booed a week later in Milwaukee. Well, of course. That's true. I have no idea. Go back to Mexico. You can bake it up by chugging all these cheese curds. Cheese curds and eat this beer. Milwaukee was the center of the American dairy industry and hometown of our very own Joe Weber. And actually the woman who wrote this script, Christina. Joe, you made it into the pod, made it into the cast. Nice. Me and Emerson Fittipaldi side by side. Joe or James, can I get a Joe voice real quick? I'm from Milwaukee. Were you like cheese curds? Anyway, many fans held it against Emerson for years. Has had to publicly apologize and explain himself many, many more times, including when he returned to Indianapolis to drive for Chevrolet in the 2008 Indy 500, despite it being 15 years after the incident, he was still booed and heckled by the fans during the parade laps. They're just having fun at this point. Yeah, yeah, that's a good bit at this point. Anderson stayed in cart until 1996 when a broken neck at the Michigan International Speedway forced him to retire, Michigan, tough track. He finished his career with 22 cart wins, but couldn't stay away from the track for long. In 2003, he returned as a team owner for the Fittipaldi dingman racing team. Do you think digman was like, I want my name first. Dingman Fittipaldi. For the quality digman, just sounds better. Yeah, I agree, I guess. Try as he might, though, Emerson really couldn't stay away from the driver's seat. Just two years later, in 2005, Emerson made a surprise return to competitive racing in the Grand Prix masters event held in Kai lami in South Africa and finished second behind fellow F one driver Nigel Mansell. Then three years later in 2008, he and Wilson junior entered the Brazilian GT3 championship, driving a Porsche 9 9 7 GT3 for The WB motor sports team. It had an animaniacs livery on it. No, that's not real. That'd be sick, though. He also raced these semi trucks. What did he? Yeah. That's cool. Since then, Emerson became chairman of motor sport dot com in 2011. And in 2003, he started writing a monthly blog on McLaren's website. He also loves to throw his opinion into the mix and has recently gone on the record of his approval of F one's new sprint qualifying races. Probably one of the only people to do that. I kid, I kid. But this isn't an episode just about Emerson Fittipaldi. It's about his family's legacy. And with 7 kids, let's just say there's a lot of family to cover. Beginning with Emerson's brother, a man we've already lightly talked about, mister Wilson, Fittipaldi, junior. Wilson, Fittipaldi junior was born on Christmas in 1943, which means he might be a werewolf. It also born on Christmas. You might be a werewolf. According to what logic, well, lord. You know, lore. Ancient lore. It also makes him Emerson's big brother. Wilson junior was often referred to as Wilson Ho. Which means little Wilson. And we came a motor sport enthusiast as a child alongside his brother. Now we've already told you a little bit about Wilson, how he flipped the boat in his teens, built a successful series of cards with emmo and how he even ended up with his own, albeit unremarkable, F one team, but there's more to Wilson than his relationship with Emerson. Kind of, they're both werewolves. He chugs pineapple juice. Remember when Emerson struck out on his own and flew to Europe in 1969, only to win the F three championship that same year? Well, it was his big brother that set the example. 1966, Wilson flew to Europe to race for formula three. Unfortunately, it went a little differently for him. Due to conflicts with the team he drove for in Brazil, his opportunity to race fell through, so he flew home. Wilson didn't return to England until 1970 following his little brother's success in F two. That year he entered the British formula three with Jim Russell driving school driving a lotus 59 and got two a bark championship round at Silverstone..

"Morning. Did you happen to see on Sunday in the winner's circle ceremony at the Indy 500, where a Leo Castro Neves was handed a jar of milk by a woman wearing spotted cow gloves? Well, here's that woman. The winner's circle is chaos. That moment. The energy of handing off that milk was so exciting. It was like I can't even explain how Humbling. It is to be a part of that. That's very farmer, Jill Huyen of Homestead Dairy 1/5 Generation Farm near Plymouth, Indiana, and I had the opportunity to marry in to this very farm family were milking about 4900 cows with 14 family members. Jill has been the designated dairy farmer to hand over the court of milk to the winner of the last two nd 500 races. It's part of the winners Drink milk tradition sponsored by the American Dairy Association, Indiana that goes back to 1937 and typically has happened Sunday with the jubilant Castro Neves. It involves a few swigs of milk and then dumping the rest over his head. But back to the homestead very where it isn't just about making milk. They also make electricity. I just think it's so cool. The family decided to put a methane digester in a tree farm and that actually collects all of the manure and makes enough electricity for 1000 houses an hour in Plymouth, so many farmers they're finding different ways to be more sustainable. And I'm just proud of our family for doing that. Jill, who? William of the Homestead Dairy at Plymouth, Indiana. Well. No, You know what? I was sleepy yesterday. I mean, not used to keeping those hours. So even though I slept longer and later I didn't feel that great. I was I was very groggy till the afternoon I stayed awake until 11 30. I felt like I was hung over all day yesterday, a sure because I ended up getting up like 6 30 anyway. I actually woke up like 11 30 at night last night and I could not go back to sleep. No, I It's just my time. Clap totally got messed up with that one day off. So you're you've been up all night all night. Yeah, I'm not sleep. Have a term for that control room. Joe and I Whenever we have that issue, we call it our warm, plump. I actually knew somebody they got up in the cook Meals in the middle of the night. You could be productive. Yeah, I had no memory of it the next morning, either. And then you're kind of groggy the next morning, aren't you If you take if you take that stuff, I think so. Really? I really think so. Um, let's see. What else do you want to do here before? We, uh, get you some information and then get the record collection on here. Um Oh, yeah, I know. Is that yellow light on our building new. There's like a vertical vertical light. No. Because of your new route. You've got to see it for the first time. It's um Now when I try to tell people where we work, and sometimes it's hard to Describe the location because we're east of Michigan Avenue here, and we're just south of the Chicago River. And we're near the lake front. So now I can just say, look for the building with the big yellow. Lit up whatever that is. Well, it's not always on. It's not always yellow. So it was not. It would be the only problem changes colors it does, And obviously that it's only at night. Would you see that right? Do they have that lit up in the daytime? You can see it in the morning. The building. This is a really cool building it they haven't like a yellow color scheme here I've noticed on and they really spiffed up the building, waiting for tens of thousands of workers to come back. Any data, but anyway Yeah, three or three East Wacker or as I call it. Wait a minute. I wrote this down because the women referred to it from now on. The next star Radio city. Where the banks of the Chicago River meets the lakefront. How's that? Good. That's very good. Go with that. It's not the Bob Surat building anymore. Well, I went with that for a while and then the Taj Mahal of Radio Studios in America. But some people have an issue with the Taj Mahal. So we'll go with that for a while. See what happens. Let's see what's happening outside. It's Ah, pretty sunrise. Steve. Yeah, we've got some really nice. So whether here at the lakefront, But there is some fog in other places this morning, and visibility is down to a quarter of a mile in those places. One example of that is that the DuPage Airport Visibility and a quarter mile there. It's also down to a quarter of a mile in Aurora. All of the fog's going to burn off today.

"Year, but not this year. Kobe has canceled a lot of people's party plans. Even so many of us will be buying snacks and drinks to watch the game. In fact, we'll probably by way too much. So just like every year, a lot of it will end up in the trash. But that's not exclusive to your party leftovers. The average family is throwing away a Catholic Children £50 of food each year. Unfortunately, that is ending up in landfills and is one of the largest sources of methane emissions. That's registered dietitian Karen Bakkies, vice president of nutrition affairs for the American Dairy Association. Mideast The reason that we see so much food waste is That either it's leftovers and we get tired of eating leftovers. Maybe we over purchased and that food spoiled before we were able to consume it all or eat it all. Or maybe we button ingredient for a one time recipe, and we didn't know what to do with the rest of that ingredient. So there's many different factors that come into play as Why those £250 of food are wasted each year by typical famous America, however, food waste isn't just an American problem around the world, About a third of all food grown is lost or wasted much of it before it reaches consumers. Often at least in the U. S perfectly. Good foods are trashed at the retail level simply because they're ugly. Some kinds of foods have staggering loss rates approaching 50%. I think we look at fresh fruits and vegetables as being the most common that we throw away. I also think of sometimes grains in terms of maybe bread, and then we also see milk yogurt cheese typically thrown away. Actually, it's interesting with both milk, yogurt and cheese. If you can actually freeze, though, she could even freeze milk, and I'll be flying to take out at a later date and actually still drink it. So those are probably the ones that we see thrown away the most. Almost frequently that kind of gets shoved to the back of the refrigerator, where it comes close to the Those dates that we see there that it might be expiring, and we see people throw away more quickly. Becky says. Those dates on food packaging are a major source of confusion and a big reason. Wholesome. Still edible foods are thrown out. If you know what the word sell by best buy and used by actually mean you'll hang on to foods a little longer. But if you see a best buy, labeling on a food and has a date, what that means is more around the peak quality and what you would expect of that product. It has no regard in regards to food safety. It's just referring to the quality or the peak taste of that particular food. Another term that we see is used by used by is going to be put on foods that are highly perishable. And so that is a date to pay attention to, But chances are it's a very fresh product. You're going down that you need to use it by that date, and there could be some food safety concerns. But that's going to be on very few foods from those highly perishable fresh foods that you buy, and then sometimes you might see a date that says Sal by on a certain date. That's on Lee for the grocery stores purpose that gives them idea as far as how long they should display that food, and it helps them to manage inventory and Nothing to do with food safety. So as far as consumers are concerned, you can pretty much ignore the sell by date. The best by date carries a little more weight. You have the use by date on there, and chances are typically the milk is going to be fresh and able to be drinking beyond that date, especially if your story in it in side the refrigerator on the bottom shelf towards the back. We know that a lot of refrigerators are designed they have them. Gallon of milk in the door do not stored in the door because when you open the refrigerator on a regular basis that will warm that milk up, and so you want to keep it inside the refrigerator where it's going to stay nice and cold. And so that's a great example is that if you're storing the food properly, you will get a couple extra days. Beyond that used by date, another chip to avoid food waste is to plan ahead. Think of your menu for the week ahead and then go shopping in your refrigerator and your freezer and your pantry before you leave for the grocery store because you may already have some of those ingredients so you don't buy those again and then also in Europe. For greater Make sure that you have the older flutes towards the front. You have the food you're gonna buy you put towards the back. We know that it's a very good to keep fruits and vegetables in the crisper and keeping them at a different temperature and humidity level. But sometimes that comes graveyard. So make sure you're pulling that out on a regular basis and put something on the shelf where you see it right away. And be mindful of that. I think the other thing to think about is what is the temperature of your refrigerator. It should be set up between 35 40 degrees. What a thermometer in there or if you have some way to check the refrigeration temperature. That's a great thing to check because food is going to stay higher quality. It's gonna last longer if it's stored properly at their correct temperature as well. If you're already facing leftovers, and you're not sure what to do with them short of throwing them out, Baby says, Try a little creativity. What can I do with that food? I've got a small amount of this or have you know several different odds and ends. Vegetables that are left is Throw it in a crock pot. You know If you're heading out the door in the morning or the night before, put it all together in a container and throw that into the park, And then it will be ready when you come home that day, and you can use all those ads and ends that are in your refrigerator. Piles will think of pasta and using all those accidents and putting them into the sauce that you might be heating up. You could do smoothies, you know, take the younger, take the fruit and put it in a blender and make us movie. I think it can actually be quite simple. It doesn't have to be complicated if you just think about those creative ways to use those ingredients in another way or in another recipe for the next night. The other thing I often do is if I have something in a food item that I just have too much of. I will freeze it. I will make a casserole. I'll make a stir fry. I'll make something or soup. I will freeze it and use it at a later point. If you'd like a little help, the USDA has a smartphone app that it calls food keeper. He says. It's surprisingly helpful. You contract all kinds of foods. You can look at storage, freezing them how long they would last in the freezer. It also comes up with some quick recipes of how to use those extra ingredients, and it will also send you alerts to tell you that this food in your refrigerator or in your pantry might be nearing its expiration time and to be sure to use it. So it's a great easy app you can put on your phone and look at it from a food safety standpoint, also look at it from preventing food waste. But even with all this help, and with a thorough knowledge of what those packaging cell by and Used by dates all mean, Sometimes things slip through the cracks. Most of us will still have to resort to a literal smell. Test for food every now and then. To me, sometimes food waste in food safety lived right next door to each other. If it smells there if it looks bad, if it's the wrong color, obviously, those would be food safety concerns. Farmers devastated by historic flooding in the Midwest
"To the mid west now where historic flooding has come at the worst possible time for farmers, many of whom are dealing with severe crop damage and livestock losses. Joining us. Now is Bill -til. He's the president of the Nebraska state dairy association and Bill how much pain are farmers and ranchers feeling across the state today. This is pretty devastating we've been dealing with the flood to here for several days. Now, everybody kind of knows about the water. But I think the personal stories and the uh. The losses. We're going to start to hear a lot more about that as the days unfold in what have you heard your members told you about how they're trying to protect their their animals. Well, we have I've I've talked to male callers been in touch kind of with our State Department for the most part we've been successfully moving melt pretty well. It's more the infrastructure is pretty tough right now for from the male callers saying average, they're now driving about an extra hundred fifty miles just to pick up or Dr melt to the plants one way is that because the roads are out. Yeah. We're not as seriously impacted here in antelope county has a lot of the states. But even here we have just heard yesterday sixty five percent of our roads have damages but fifty six percents out of. Ninety three counties are drastically affected. Can you talk about the timing of this flood? I mean, it's calving season. This is a very important time. That's absolutely true. It's calving season for all our our ranchers out here in this country. And it's actually, you know, we're we're called the beef state, but they're dealing with a lot. They've dealt with the stress of low prices like all commodities last couple of years. So those that started having a little bit earlier they've been dealing with a blizzards and snow and ice. They're already looking pretty haggard from round the clock babysitting. Those mama cows talk to a few people here. Just in the last couple of days friend of mine. He Cavs about fifteen hundred thousand you know, everybody out here is pretty tries to be pretty self sufficient, and you don't hear a lot of complaining or. Bickering. But I know he told me personally he's already lost forty calves in the last couple of days, and it's not getting much easier. Bill if a rancher loses forty calves what does that mean for the operation? Well, although that's way, more than they would expect in that short period of time. But it's it's a huge. It's not like if a son come out today and things are going to suddenly be better known. Another rancher that this is I don't have firsthand knowledge of it. But they're contracted to rural water and last couple of days. They've got about five thousand had that they're trying to figure out how to get water to them where it's whether it's hauling them in or moving the Cadillac out. So it's real out here. It's. It's the impact is going to be huge. And there's no doubt that they'll be a number of people that will survive this in the state financially well by some estimates. The state's agriculture sector could face nearly a billion dollars in losses from these floods. It also comes at a very very difficult time for farmers who dealing with trade tariffs rising costs bankruptcies, what are the long term results of this disaster. You know, a lot of people are are going to have to make decisions. Even if you know, if the federal government will step in or some agency, usually that means the best you can hope for is takeout low interest loans, but what the financial pressure that people banned in. I think a lot of people just decide they've had enough.
