David Gergen on Running the Nixon Speech Writing Team
"You know, when you came back, when you came back in the speech writing process when I was a young lawyer, it was staffed around. I remember the chief justice of the United States at that time in associate council, arguing with Peggy noonan. That was a murderous row of speechwriters over which we had Bill sapphire and Ray Price and Pat Buchanan. And Nixon. Yeah, and then John McLaughlin came in for a lead in the game with Nixon, but he was around for a while. Ben Stein. It was a terrific group. It was about 50 people. If you look at speechwriting and their sports staff and then the research staff and then we also headed the letters and so correspondent section. So it was about 50 people there. And I ran that for a while.
Libral City Council Votes for Woke Ordinance
"Most beautiful weather on earth, Cape Town is considered the sort of tied for the best weather in the world. I thought Cape Town weather was beautiful when I was there, but San Diego, I think winds. The ordinance passed by a three to two board vote, three to two. One person, as decided that men can go into women's shelters, women's prisons, and women's both homeless and domestic violence shelters. And there are three Democrats and two Republicans on the board of supervisors. And every single one of you knows how the vote went. And yet people in San Diego, this is what the typical liberal will say, oh, that's crazy. You just bringing these weirdo examples, that's what they do in order not to confront how they vote. I have

How Will the Next Oklahoma Senator Confront the McGirt Case?
"Great to have you back. Alex is a member of the Nixon seminar. I've known him for a half dozen years. He was chief of staff at the National Security Council served four years in the Trump White House, as I said, a crowded field in Oklahoma, where I've got to ask you about the abortion decision, but I also want to know about the mcgirt decision and whether how much of that matter in this field, Alex grey. Well, I think the mcgurk case is not only the most important issue facing Oklahoma on day to today level. It's the most important issue. I think in determining the type of senator that oklahomans are going to have. And I say that because it's one of those issues where a lot of special interests who have been pushing candidates in the direction of the status quo. And right now the status quo is devastating for Oklahoma. You've got 18,000 cases. Criminal cases that have been pushed from state to federal court. And that means that the federal system is totally overwhelmed and they're unable to prosecute a huge number of cases in practicality that means that rapists and murderers are actually going unpunished and

'Culture Jamming' With PrimeTime Alex Stein
"Alex Stein. If you haven't heard of him prime time, 99 Alex Stein, Jackson. I can't even see that on the radio. I'm already going crazy, Morgan. Oh my goodness. Well, thank you. Thank you for taking time. If you're very busy day, you're a small businessman, and an Internet sensation apparently. So praise B, thank you for joining. That is true. And as my sister and Christ, I appreciate being here. And let me tell you something. Being a viral sensation is not easy. It's a lot of pressure and a lot of people have been like, oh, Alex, you know, it's congratulations on all your success or your viral videos. Going viral is a terrible thing Morgan because now I'm like, what am I gonna do next? I've already worn women's swimwear to a city council meeting and like I'm literally gonna have to jump in a fire and light myself on fire next. I just don't know the pressure is it's overwhelming sometimes. Oh my God, okay, so if people are listening and are aware, he's very satirical. And that's the whole point, Alex Stein is hilarious and goes and makes fun of the crazy lefties, the wokeness at city council meetings and government public hearings where you can speak directly to your representatives. And so Alex don't hate me, but I have a clip that I want to show of you and the women's bathing suit. So if we could play that producers. Hello, how are you guys doing, counsel? So my name is Alexandria Stein. And I'm here today to call out transphobia here in Plano. I'm currently being restricted from swimming in the city of planet swim league against the women, even though it's clear that I reassigned my gender last week, like for example, do I look like a man? Obviously a not. This is a woman, but they're not going to let me swim and compete against the ladies because they're transphobia. So what I need you guys to do is I need you to wake up. We have champions like Leah Thomas. She's an NCAA champion. The best swimmer in college today. I can't get a scholarship unless I'm able to send a recruiting tape to these colleges. So they say, oh, oh, you have an unfair advantage Alexandria. What looks like? Does this look like an unfair advantage to you? Alex, can you explain what that was there? Okay, Morgan. So what that is, that's a crazy man that was dropped on his head as a child that has a lot of social issues and what he decided was is he going to do what is called culture jamming is and where we take the most absurd parts of our culture and we jam it in the public's face to try to bring awareness to how crazy the world has become. So people are like,
What Is the Poisition of a Trump Supporter on Russia & Ukraine?
"So what is the position of a Trump supporter when it comes to Russia and Ukraine I said a Trump supporter not a Rand Paul supporter Not a J D Vance supporter A Trump supporter General Keith Kellogg who you've known you've seen him on life liberty and Levin and other programs And Fred flights Fred flights who served in the National Security Council under president Trump former CIA solid as a rock They penned a piece that is they wrote a piece and they said the following As former Trump administration national security officials who deeply believe in an America first approach to U.S. national security policy we've been on television almost every day discussing Russian president Vladimir Putin's brutal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine You can see how distinct this is From Rand Paul and JD Vance we have stated with urgency that the U.S. must support Ukraine with all the weaponry it needs to defend itself against Russia's completely unjustifiable invasion We have saluted the bold and heroic leadership of Ukrainian president Vladimir zelensky We have also repeatedly denounced Moscow's criticism of the zelensky as well as Putin's nonsensical claim that Russia invaded to fight Nazis Some have recently misrepresented the American first movement concerning the war in Ukraine and Putin For example in a Sunday Wall Street Journal op-ed Jeffrey Scott Shapiro alleged that the movement has taken a dangerous turn Claiming lead American firsters are parroting the Kremlin's narrative on the war in Ukraine And mistaken Putin for a strong nationalist leader like president Donald J Trump This is pure nonsense

Victoria Toensing on the Latest in the Sussmann Indictment
"We have to discuss the latest developments in the sussman indictments, the John Durham furtherance of his investigation. It seems as if mister sussman, the lawyer for the Hillary Clinton campaign, who manages to get meetings with the chief council of the FBI via text in less than 24 hours, that he doesn't have the best legal team. Because he doesn't have the best. He doesn't have the best facts. It's really hard. So when he was indicted, the one count indictment, which was 27 pages, which is unusual. They came out. The specimen team came out and said, well, maybe baker didn't have a good memory. That was the FBI guy. Or we don't think we said that. We don't remember any later testified that he actually had a client. And then all of a sudden assessment in a filing just about a week ago says, ta-da, here's the text message. You

California Moves to Legalize Infanticide
"Now, this is something that every single patriot, every Christian, every person that has a moral compass needs to focus on what's happening in California. It's almost hard to believe what's occurring through the California legislature. California legislature moves forward with Bill to expand the killing of babies past the moment of birth. Quote, actually legalizing a fantasize in an abortion bill to expand the killing of babies past the moment of birth up to weeks after, according to opponents of the bill, wick said that while other states wick is the sponsor here, Buffy wicks. While other states are adopting increasingly aggressive measures to limit abortions, California continues to protect reproductive rights. Wick said the only bill, the bill only applies to pregnant women who should quote not be prosecuted for losing or miscarrying a baby, or for quote a tragic situation during pregnancy. Section 7 a of the bill states, notwithstanding any other law, a person shall not be subject to a civil or criminal liability penalty or otherwise deprived of their rights based on their actions or emissions with respect to the pregnancy or actual potential alleged pregnancy outcome, including miscarriage stillbirth or abortion. Or period natal death. From the California family council quote, this bill specifically protects a mother from civil and criminal charges for any quote actions or omissions to her pregnancy, including miscarriage stillbirth or abortion or perinatal death. The definition of perinatal death varies although all include the death of baby from 22 weeks of gestation to 7 days post birth or more.

I thought about that same territory when I was writing my novel, the wife, which follows a very long marriage over time. And one of my favorite novels is Mrs Bridge by Evan s. Canal urge you to read it. It's just wonderful, and it gives a picture of the domestic life and inner life. Of a Kansas City housewife before the start of World War two. She's very conventional stuck, but she's also very much herself. And Canal gives us that long, unblinking look at her, and he lets us know what it's like being her even just for a while, and that's what fiction does. I'm always grateful when given that kind of opportunity Since we spend our lives walking around only inside ourselves. I remember the moment when I realized this is a child like I only get to be mean. But what about Getting to know what it's like being you. And that's sort of when I started reading a lot. Reading fiction and also sometimes listening to it lets us branch out. Certainly I feel that that happens whenever I listen to selected shorts In our second story. Liberty By Julia Alvarez Fact and fiction overlap. Alvarez's works include the novels How the Garcia Girls lost their accents. And in the Time of the butterflies, these books and the stories and essays we featured on shorts. Draw on her childhood in the Dominican Republic and on her eventual new life in America. In this really touching story. We see the link between those two worlds in the character of the family dog. Reader Laura Gomez also hails from the Dominican Republic. You may know her for her work on Orange is the new black Here she is to read liberties by Julia Alvarez. Puppy came home with a dog who's kind we had never seen before. A black and white speckle electric current of energy. It was a special breed with papers like a person with a birth certificate. Mommy just kept staring at the poppy with across look on her face. It looks like a mess. She said. Take it back, Mommy. Just a gift. Bobby shook his head. It would be an insult to Mr Victor, who had given us the dog. The American Council wanted to thank us for all we've done for him since he'd been assigned to our country. If you wanted to thank us, he'd give us our visas, Mommy grumbled. For a while. Now, my parents have been talking about going to the United States so puppy could return to school. I couldn't understand why a grown up who could do whatever he wanted. Would you like to go back to a place I so much wanted to get out of. On their faces. When they talked of leaving there was a scared look. I also couldn't understand. Those visas will come soon promised. But managed just kept shaking her head about the dog. She had enough with four girls to take on poppies, too. Papi explained that the dog would stay at the end of the yard and a pen he would not be allowed in the house. He would not be pooping in Mommy's Orchid Garden. He would not be barking until late at night. A well behaved dog, Poppy concluded. An American dog. The little black and white poppy yank poppies, trouser cough with his mouth. What shall we call? You thought he asked him trouble, Mama suggested kicking the puppy away. He had left poppies trousers to come slobber on her leg. We will call him Liberty. Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness Puppy quoted the USA Constitution. Am Liberty, You are a lucky sign. Liberty, Bart, his little toy barks and all us kids laughed. Trouble. Mama kept shaking her head as she walked away. Liberty trotted behind her as if he agreed that that was a better name for him. Mommy was right to liberty turned out to be trouble. He ate all of Mommy's orchids and that little hyperactive a ton of a tale, not things of the low coffee table whenever liberty climb on the couch to leave his footprints in among the flower prints. He tore up Mommy's garden looking for buried treasure. Mama screamed and liberty and stamped her foot. Rosenberg wins. But Liberty just barked back at her. He doesn't understand Spanish, Poppy said lamely. Maybe If you correct him in English, he'll behave better. Not me turned on him. Her slipper still in mid air. Her face looked as if she'd light into him after she was done with liberty. Let him go be a pet in his own country if he wants instructions in English. In recent weeks, Mommy had changed her tune about going to the United States. She wanted to stay in her own country. She didn't want Mr Victor coming around our house and going off into the study with poppy to talk over important things in low worried voices. All liberty involves sacrifice, poppy setting and careful voice. Liberty gave a few perky barks as if he agreed with that. Mommy glared at Bobby. I told you I don't want trouble. She was going to say more, but her I fell on me, and she stopped herself. Why aren't you with the others? She's called it. It was as if I had been the one who had dug up her linea bulbs. The truth was that after liberty arrived, I never played with the others. It was as if I had found my double in another species. I had always been the tomboy, the life wire, the troublemaker, the one who is going to drive me to drink the one she was going to give away to the Haitians. When the sisters dressed pretty and stay clean the playroom I was out roaming the world looking for trouble. And now I have found someone to share my adventures. I'll take liberty back to his span. I offered There was something I had to figure out that liberty had yet to learn. Went to get out of Mommy's way. She didn't say yes, and she didn't say no. She seemed distracted as if something else was on her mind. A silent liberty away by his color. I could see her talking to Poppy. Suddenly she started to cry, and Poppy held her. It's okay. I consumed liberty. Mommy doesn't mean it. She really does love you just just nervous. It was when my father always said when Mommy scolded me harshly. At the back of the property stood Liberty spin. A chain link fence around their square, the centre of which stood at Dark House. I'll be had built it when Liberty first came a cute little house, But then he painted a putrid green that reminded me of all the vegetables I didn't like. It was always a job to get liberty to go into that time. Sure enough, As soon as he saw where we were headed, he took off barking toward the house, then swerve to the front yard to our favorite spot. It was a grassy note surrounded by a tall hibiscus hedge at the center student Tall, shady Saman tree. From there. No one could see you up at the house. Whenever I did something wrong. This was where I hit out until the punishment winds blew over. That was word Liberty had it. And I was past behind on his trail. Inside the clearing. I stopped short. Two strange men in dark glasses were crouched behind the hedge. The fad. One had seized liberty by the color and was pulling so hard on it. The poor liberty was almost standing on his hind legs. When he saw me. Liberty began to part And the man holding him gave him a yank on the color of making me sick to my stomach. I began to back away. But the other men grabbed my arm. Not so fast, he said. Two little scare faces my own. Look down at me from his glasses. I came from my dog, I said on the verge of two years. Good thing you found him, the man said. Give the young lady her dog. He ordered his friend. And then he turned to me. You haven't.

I've watched doesn't he's a pretty healthy guy pretty fit guy tell me kind of like what your regimen is in your thoughts and your mindset when it comes to. Obviously, if you've been a personal trainer, I was in the fitness industry topped with American Council of Exercise, and for Nazem and that got really burnt out I used to see about fifty clients a week. So I made a lot of money. Before I got married and then when I got married, I changed that because I realized work was not I wasn't going to work fifty five hours a week and your ally since I've sold that business and got out of that business have residual income, and then I'm coaching but tell me kind of what your journey is and some things that you do to focus on your health and your fitness and really presenting yourself that living sacrifice that God talks about how he goes through that. Yeah. And I definitely think for me part of it too is just my mindset with the way I approach fitness goes back to what I mentioned earlier of. Fitness is never the the end result. It's the tool that gets you the end result right? It's not. My ultimate goal is to be healthy. Your ultimate goal is to be a a good husband, a good father and a good leader in a good member of your community and follow God and all those things health being healthy and being fit is just the tool to get us there. That's not the pinnacle and so for me it with anxiety stick to now goes back to my cross fit days and certain aspects of cross fit. Of course, some people will bang on a little bit in certain things I don't still do but the thing that always that. I always come back to is two things one, the variety just keeping things interesting I need that in my life..

got out of college I'm dating myself here my father said to me when I got my first job out of college he said have you opened an Iraqi back them early nineteen eighties I arrays were brand new and today now we fast forward forty years later hi res have been around for longer than most folks I've been working in their jobs and so we all take it for granted that Iraqis are here what do you tell us now that I raise are firmly established as a part of americana count as planned short and for I will say that it's a fairly good plan and fairly good system that we have and it's not just diaries but workplace retirement plans like four oh one K. all plans as well let me put it in context I will do the same thing as you did when I started the research as an intern I look at the private retirement accounts and this is almost twenty years ago and the topic of the day was whether these accounts for even valuable they were just shifting savings from our taxable accounts to hex our advantage accounts and might my goal was to show that that was not the case and they were very helpful in terms of our increasing the overall savings of the country now we fast forward we see that you are the people who are claiming that they were not really helpful I think they're taking you know they're taking back their arguments because we are seeing an increase in the overall savings into in in these accounts just to give an idea for example the irate total for the end of our twenty eighteen was seventeen point six trillion dollars and at the four one case of death eight point two trillion so portal off twenty nine point one trillion dollars are sitting in these accounts and twenty eighteen the US GDP words only twenty four point five trillion and I'm saying it's fairly good obviously there are issues that we still need to address it's still at the individual level you know people are saying that they are not saving enough in fact I think there was one study from our center for retirement research that said that if someone who started saving at nineteen eighty one at age twenty five and they stayed in that position and sixty years old they should have three hundred and sixty four thousand dollar in those accounts but when you look at the average balance for sixty year olds it's a hundred thousand and there are three reasons for that despite the fact that they have been around more than forty years it's still a maturing system aren't carriage you know coverage is still subpar all forty two percent off the private workers don't have coverage and they don't have access to the current account all people are blaming fees and leakages and I think over that over time and you probably know better than me he's has been coming down so the system is improving and we have to also tweak it based on the changing needs of the working population the on the one hand huge amounts of money nearly thirty trillion dollars saved in these accounts which is astonishing but on the other hand it's fairly concentrated as to the number of Americans who have a piece of that money millions of Americans have saved either not at all or an incredibly small amount or they haven't saved early enough to allow compound growth to really do the job so those are the obvious problems that we have with these accounts what's are the solutions how do we make the ability for people to save and I raise and workplace retirement accounts even better how do we get them to save earlier how do we get them to save more how do we get them to choose better investments than the ones they're choosing to get better returns well first of all we have to identify the problems wide some of these people are not saving over he said there are some obvious I'm answers like not enough income but there are people who have enough in common to are not starting singing early on I see that there are three problems that are emerging like for example nontraditional work arrangements are increasing these are described as gig economy jobs here characterized if no retirement benefits no healthcare coverage and young people are our groovy teaching towards these jobs and right now one third of the US workforce is getting income from these give economic job so that's a problem second one is I'm assuming you discussed many times the student loans bad numbers all I think one our study I have seen from MIT aging lab that eighty four percent of the people were saying that their student loan debt is impacting their retirement savings negatively so we have to somehow find a balance between or encourage people start saving all early on for their retirement but you're not black behind on their student loan debt and obviously the third item is the healthcare cost is the gig economy is increasing no healthcare coverage all may be retiring people will have an outrageous amount of money that they have to offer save in order to spend for just for their healthcare costs these are all important problems that we need to address it's fascinating that you mention that so many people working in the gig economy is putting them at a disadvantage and I would agree with you that is what we are indeed experiencing but that's not the way it's supposed to be the whole concept of a gig economy is that you are a self employed individual you're an entrepreneur you're working for yourself as opposed to being an employee of somebody else and historically if we go back hundreds of years in this country it's the entrepreneurs it's those who create and established businesses who are the wealthiest people in town because our entire capitalist system is.
