"And if you have a youtube video that's based on that audio, you can load it in and it will automatically update your pretty bad youtube automated transcriptions in that language. So four big benefits. To doing transcriptions. Yes it takes longer. It does but it totally but forty get four big benefits out of it. So yeah, I I was surprised how It helps and editing because you can have a turn on time stamps. and. If you're like, I know we talked about such and such where was that because I want to get a pull quote or something like that or you can kind of see. Okay. When we get in like how much can I delete from the Chitchat at the beginning and things like that. So Yeah Carey says I started using audited actually transcribe some zoom calls yet. They have that feature I do for research for online workshop. So I didn't have to keep your notes. I would just go back and reread the interviews. Yeah. Now that makes control F. Really easy if you're searching for something taller. Control after find it Bam oh, that's that's where we talked about it so. Yeah I'm becoming I. Mean I've done. We've done transcripts now for two years or something like that. But more and more as we find the value of things in it you think okay. If I'm just doing transcripts to make sure they're accurate. Okay. That's a lot of work. Make sure your polling thing while you're doing it, you're pulling things out of it to get value. Doug says, what do you look for in a transcription service well for me? Accuracy. A for an individual about to sign up for descript I, use script for the feature and that's it, and that's worth the ten bucks a month I'm paying or whatever it is. I. Understand. Now, if I wanted them to do more filler words, it's now I think twenty or thirty dollars a month and I was like but that's what I use it for I don't use their transcript I. Guess I could. But if you get your transcript more accurate in English and you loaded onto youtube when they do auto translations off of that, they'll do off of that transcript. And so you'll get a better. You'll even get a better quality that way too. Yeah I mean there's there's author there's Timmy Tammy whatever it was there's if Yeah. If. You want the The most accurate that I've seen is REV R v DOT com it's. A dollar something a minute but it's because there's an actual human typing it up. So that's where you know it really goes in and I know descript is one of those tools that. Does a whole bunch of stuff and I'm not using half of it i. just I I I use Hindenburg. I've used audition of dodd ask them like I. Don't really need another dog under my belt, but they do this. It'd be great. If somebody really did focus on, we will take your audio. We have a super high accurate transcription and we will remove like I can go in I think I can still do this I would say find you know comma and I would say, Hey, we found that thirty seven million times be like delete them all don't need that so. It's it's GonNa get better. Like this is an area that's just GonNa get wickedly better like we're already seeing what they call deep fake the fakes with video and stuff some of that stuff like you look at it. Now you're like holy crap. That is amazing. I saw I watched one the other day it was like, what if WHO's magnum? Pi What was? What if Tom selleck kiss originally Tom selleck was going to be a raiders of the lost Ark and Indiana Jones Tom Selleck was supposed to play that before Harrison Ford Right. So but Tom Solid couldn't do it because he was he was Nang appealing his production scheduled for Magnum P. Iowa too tight. So he they they had how they had. They had Hans. Thanks. Harrison Ford. So they, there's this deep fake of of Tom selleck face over a bunch of the shots with Harrison Ford, in you cannot tell the difference like it looks great in its hair. Tom Selleck from that era, it's not old Tom Sally. Selleck from that era. So it takes an enormous amount of processing power super expensive to do these deep fakes now but I think we're going to get I think these transcription services are gonNA get way better in understanding things what in one of the features that descript is working on and I think adobe already has Is You have to train it. But you can then go in and now you can go in with the script and if I say I can delete the ominous it will delete it in the audio file. But now what if I go I should have said that there I can type it in and it will take. The words and have me say it and I was like now we're getting into a really spooky area. So that all takes processing power. That's why it's expensive. Right that takes an enormous amount of processing power to get those. You know to get that kind of stuff done but I think it only gets better from here. Yeah. Better and cheaper I mean. Hope I mean we had the road caster. Oh I we had the mix precincts in three. Then we the road caster. Now, we've got the zoom pod track each one either does the same thing or it's smaller and cheaper you know. So it's GonNa be fun to. There will be a time when you know your partner goes I found this voicemail. And it's you talking to another woman you'd like it's not me. It's not me. It's like so that's GonNa be. In the this is this is another interesting component to transcript is he says having industry specific vocabulary adds complexity. And that is absolutely true. Now offers got an ability, some of the other ones to to add custom vocabulary, which is actually very helpful. The other area where this comes in is when you're you're saying your website so like the average Guy Dot TV or asked the podcast coach Dot com, that's not a normal sentence in. So it does kind of weird things with it with autre. You could replace that that what how it transcribes it with a like when you hear this Taran scribe it with this and so you can do some of that offer is okay at that. It's not a hundred percent. It's kind of some of its kind of based on the way you speak. So if you don't speak very clearly, it struggles its struggles to area kyle says transcript. Does is yes. They all do just to be honest. It's the weird words and and so the next phase of this, right as where we it, it begins to learn more about your patterns in your tendencies, but you have to be faithful to go back in and correct it. So when it's wrong learns. This is my this is always my mistake because I don't have enough time to go in and train the engine in order to get it exactly right every time and then I say when you listen to yourself and you're doing these transcripts I just don't finish sentences like It's terrible. I like what am I? A Moron you know I'd go through these and I'm like I don't finish words and unfinished sentences things don't make sense they're all run on just like what I'm doing right now. I, just keep going on and on. That doesn't make for good transcripts and so I'm famous for asking half a question. Figuring out what I really wanted to ask, and then asking that question I hear that a lot I was I was editing the show for Monday, and the other thing I do is a huge amount of back story that I like I'm giving because the guest needs it to understand why I'm asking this question but almost always. Just dragged out I did have an audio is always better for transcriptions than live? Yes always. Yeah I did WANNA point out Paneth's eleven twenty one already. Flying by if you're a fan of books, if you go to big podcast, dot net slash book club the one and only David Hooper is starting a podcast club and the reason I bring that up is because the book for October. Is None other than one profit from your podcast.

"Like this. Audio content I'm trying to. Yeah. If I share my screen here, we'll. We'll for those listening all explain what I'm looking at, but it's they have all these books. But at the yet neither calling them podcasts. So like want one is actually Michael Cain doing something called Heist. You know and I don't know who own Roberts. She's the Oh she's famous for just give it five minutes. There's a thing she has. So it's all these little like baby audio books. But they're not a PODCAST, but they're calling them podcasts and so. That's why here's Blake Griffin the guy from the famous basketball team in. La. That's not the Lakers. Jamie Lee Curtis as something here Stewart Copeland my dad was a spy that's the drummer from the police. So they've got a bunch of celebrities which doesn't always mean it's going to be exciting. But they have a bunch of little. Baby, they're calling them podcast, but they're not. But on the other hand, I added two or three to my. List of listening, and which is kind of weird because that stops me from buying audio books. But it does keep my subscription. So Jim, you found something apparently. Well, this is to go back to Amazon. Music Yeah I like the CAL look at the the very first to podcast. Of course could it not? Could they not have been any more original or creative and cure eating? Like what they put out there, there's like. This this is this is a playlist from like five years ago now at four years ago maybe by any. I don't mind I never heard of code switch, but I had heard of cereal and then percent of invisible mark. Manila missing. There's Joe Rogan while know why essential? Like seriously cereal is an essential like I? Don't know I just. Back has now trending now molo right that gets a little bit better. That's that's the at least maybe that's closer to something that that is actual real and then there's some of some feature Luik but I just saw that I was like, I, wonder what they're. Going to the page Dave, I was like cereals going to be the. This just no, it is the very first thing. You're going to see a series click on that for giggles. Click on cereal I'm dying to know if the I Know it's not showing the first. They're going. They're going. They're going in. Assad. Right so the last episode not so unfortunately are going to click on episode seed. They're going to get season three first right above they don't have it's their switched. that is a bummer that's a mess. It's a missile I don't want to start with C it could be worse they could start with season two. But in the only reason I like season. Three's it was about Cleveland. And how corrupt is gay look at US getting all sorts of really bad press so Yeah. So we'll have to be it'll be fun to watch. You know to see you know what it is. Kyle says, yeah. The podcast essential the front page of apples podcast wannabes I was surprised I. of course, I go in and I'm looking at I forget what I'm listed in I. Think I'm under business but I looked at technology and I saw and I won't say what it was but I saw a podcast that hasn't had an episode out since two thousand Nineteen podcast about podcasting and it was somewhat in my opinion famous for putting out. Not Great, not accurate content and also. Never, asking a remotely like for me a good interview is when you ask the question that your audience wants to ask, and this guy never did that and I was like, what is like wow, 'cause I just updated my list podcast about podcasting and he is now in the pod faded area because he hasn't had an episode out since like I said almost a year. And I was like, how did this guy featured in technology and then it dawned on me what am I doing? I'm comparing my podcast to others no Mike. This is not a healthy activity. As like some comparison is okay. I think there's some comparison to learn some things I. so here's here's a a a weird ironic story, right. So this week I got just actually last night I got an email from one of my listeners on the on called coach or feed Thursday. And she said I just recommend in your podcast to somebody I was coaching, and so they brought it up in the podcast player. And they and I told them. You know she's she wanted a specific season number in episode. And you put the season number at the end which I do we always right. We don't recommend right season episode goes to the end of it not in the very beginning. But this user she she wanted to search by season and episode, and so in the podcast player like go anywhere else do it sure to be able to do it in the podcast player plus t was the player that truncated like the title down to I think like seven characters. It was not very much. I saw a screen shot of it and I was like it was a really obscure podcast player. But it was one of those pieces of feedback where it got me thinking again I'm like, Oh, we'll. Maybe I should because themed Thursday. So season heavy. Yeah. Maybe I should have should say sx or s five or s four as the very first thing but these are the kind of feedback that Kinda starts driving you mad because you change that and then someone else goes well I i. don't I didn't want the season upfront I want I want I want the rainy start chasing your tail on on feedback. So I think you have to be really really careful. I said, Hey, thanks for your feedback. All consider it to go through and change all the episodes we have. Three hundred in their whatever now, maybe two hundred. Long Time it's not gonNA happen like it would only happen if we were GONNA do some major changes to something. I had A. That is not podcasting but kind of I. I've been doing this live streaming thing for my church where we have a whopping sixteen people show up. And at the beginning, the first fifteen minutes, church starts at ten, thirty, ten, fifteen at ten thirty you just get in there and say, hey, how's everybody doing and the all talk about each other and they're all talking about their bunions and everything that aches and pains because they're all old and somebody said that seem very worshipful. One person said that and they were you. Listening and they're like, well before the service start where like well, that's not the service like that's an and because of that because that one person they made it, they made a change now it's like that's the dumbest thing ever. Yeah. I go. Why are we making I? Said we had sixteen people one person complained I go if it was just drove me nuts so. And this is the thing about listening to feedback as you can kind of create a Frankenstein version of your podcast if you're trying to get every single optimization in for every single person. In you know you'll you'll drive yourself mad I in in sometimes that the the feedback is inconsistent. So you make some changes based on feedback Adat than other people complain. So you change some things back and then six months later more e-right and you're constantly just herky-jerky moving things around I'm not gonNA more. You know where this is too many too many moving parts. If I change it there, I gotta change it on Gallup Dot com I gotta change on. Youtube. Then it's got a filter down to all the other stuff of my No, I have not is the first complaint I heard or the first suggestion I've heard. About that we have other ways to search. You know I have I have seen people where all the sudden in the middle they'll just start putting things at the end or at the beginning they'll just start like in the middle like you can see from the I sixty two episodes were formatted a certain way that also on episode sixty three, they just like an look from this point forward I'm not changing other sixty two. So Daniel has a great point. He says, it is kind of ironic that the serial podcast is not serialized.

"It's See I don't think links are working in there. I think it's just taxed. And I get a different when I when I when I click on an episode, my show notes are not coming across. Occurs like. Yours were at. Here's when you showed that is my interview I know I see. I. See our notes but. Here's one I. Put my mouse over this. Now I didn't click on this I. Get a little weird number one finger but that is Mine are not mine are not coming across. So maybe to look into that, see what's the that's on gadget geeks. Drawing. You know it's A lot of stuff to think about. No. Okay there you are. It's good to see. You can find it click on that I click on that see no no no, it's. It's got the description. It's got the first inmates, a character limit of some kind. So because I, it's what it's doing this grabbing my description I have a you know the sentence of of of a description of what's going on maybe in yours, you don't have I don't know Daniel figure it up. Yeah it it may be That's a good question because with with mine. I was put in a apple summary usually like a sentence and a half which I don't see really, and if we just look at the show notes here of we're just talking about I have. Oh. Maybe it's maybe it's because you go through Lipson or something well. That should make a difference but I mean, here's my DESCR. All my show notes my detail section. So if you've got the links in there in theory. That should should wake. It's okay. It's new. Daniel did say in the chat, they're not using the content code. Code like they should. Not He says in a comment, they don't use content dot encoded. Yeah. Lisa's let's be honest. Lipson works with the summary description in the content coated tags weirdly was Amazon caters to that weirdness will. Oh So maybe it is because I don't maybe I've made 'cause I'm not encoding it that way shouts yeah. Okay. Well, I sell post. So I, don't it's maybe a little bit different that way I don't I don't mind actually not having the way I've got it set up I think. There's a she wanted commercials very interesting. Full show notes. Yes. See I. Have a I. Have a tag in there. That's got the full show notes. So IF PEOPLE WANNA come out so it doesn't really matter. Yeah. Good Kyle says always Lipson in whoosh PGA. Links those are working. So I I'm with you. I'm Mike. I not sure 'cause on one hand. It is Amazon and I mean that's a huge. and. They said it was fifty five I wanNA say fifty five, million people use Amazon Music I. Thought I saw that sound about right. So if you get, you know a couple percentages of that and then a percentage of that to find your show. I think it's the next step in discovery for for these smart devices for these assistance whatever we're calling them smart speaker whatever you WANNA call. Yeah. I think it's the next up and like I said, it just got a million times easier to listen to my show on those things. You don't have to know the extra tag on there to get it done to give instructions. Literally someone can just say Gadget Geeks and out POPs up. And now I think I'll have to check on this I like to see what their video with their audio controls or like on the smart speakers do they allow? Forward and back and pause, and that'd be cool or word, and some of those kinds of things. You left off. That's cool. Member playlists that may be another another feature that you know because you can set these on the web them into playlists and can you bring back a playlist on there I imagine you would. It works the same as the music. I just haven't used Amazon music that much I mean we listened. I don't really. Use those features I just started it. Well, here's this I'd just started using. Amazon music this week I was like you know what? I have a prime thing I'm not on. I'm not on the deal where I get unlimited music but I started playing with some of their playlist and some of them weren't that bad Dan is asking do we know Amazon's going to have a dashboard to see stats in other words? How many followers are stats through their platform legs? Not that I've heard of yet. But again, this is where if you're using Lipson and you set them up a destination, you'll be able to see how many people are using that they do have a you. It's it's not it's passed through so they're not hosting the file. That's great. So in theory assuming they have a decent user agent and your media host shows that you should be able to see how many people are listening on on Amazon. So you have you seen any any user agents pop up in any stats yet that you've seen. Let me go four for Amazon that'd be interesting to if they've. They popped up already I will check because. These school of podcasting. Can while you're you're looking kyle say on Alexa, you can't skip an rewind and a number of seconds and minutes. So yeah. So I imagine like my show takes us. All minute thirty to get past the intro and then I have a bunch of stuff up front. So I mean you could say skip ahead five minutes and to get to the content the best what they wanted to do the test that out. Yeah. In true user fashion confusing user agent confusion there is Alexa Media Player Alexa Mobile Voice Amazon Music podcast Oh boy an Amazon music. Okay. So. Thanks for making the audible audible. Not In there yet in what audible is doing, and some are pretty interesting audible launched and I don't know that it's an ongoing podcast but they launched a bunch of stuff like one that I listened to was sheryl. Crowe, as like a little to our. Audio, book on how I didn't realize sheryl. Crowe was at one point the backup singer for Michael Jackson. In how when she was doing that the literally like straight out of the movies, some management artists man was like get in my limo and then proceeded to sexually harass her. And I was like Oh Jeez Louise but it was kind of a you know there was that then so there's a bunch of these. Things on audible that are kind of like. Well, technically, they're not a podcast, but all of a sudden, they just busted out with a ton of..

"Good Morning Dave. Welcome back. It's nice to be back. Yeah last week I was moving my sister there's there's three phases to this process phase one move my sister out of the house we grew up in face to fix it up To the point that you can afford it, and then phase three will be moving me in all this has to be done before December I, which is when I move out of my apartment. So phase one is done. My sister is at first you. So you got some time, but it goes fast. Well the other thing is when I woke up this morning, it was forty one degrees outside and I'm like you know what? I don't really WANNA. Move in November, I'd like to move in October and I've already started moving stuff over there. So yeah, it's a fun process. So the like you said, phase one is done and you know it'll be it's a fun adventure the deeper I get into it the more I'm like Oh this is going to hurt financially. So but come mental twenty, twenty one and I've paid more money to have air conditioning put in because that's another that's like phase four. I'll be happy but at this point, you kind of look at it and this is GonNa hurt this is it's going to be a little pain to go through but on the other side I did get the thing from my the place where I live and sure enough my rent was going up again which it has every year since I've lived here. And I was like all right, you own the house when you're done I paid for yeah. It's it's it. Technically it's still in my sister's name but we haven't got that part over but we've talked about that and eventually you're gonNA you're because you're making investments in the thing. The. Then you will. You'll be able to resell. Yeah. But the the big news this week was Amazon music in they rolled out to the UK and also to the US. So that was exciting. It's actually kind of cool. I mean it's so at first I, was a little white all right It's another place right I mean it's another audible. It's another Pandora it's another fill in the blank right? And then I, thought wait a minute. Eh I've always struggled to get home gadget Geeks to play. You know you gotta say Aleady Play Home Gadget Geeks on. Tune in or on speaker or whatever, and now you can just at least for me. Hey Lady Play Home Gadget Geeks Boom is right there. It 'cause it defaults to to to Amazon Music Yeah Yeah. Yeah yeah so now it struggled a little bit. So Hung Gadget GEEKS and cyber frontiers. Those are the two podcasts I do outside of work. Flawless they just worked first time. Okay I did a little I. Did some weird things like a call to coach is really hard for a floor for her to here in we put Gallup in front of it for SEO purposes. So I have to say play Gallup the Thursday that's kind of awkward like people people just want to say theme Thursday that doesn't work so. On the work side, I have difficulties but man for home gadget geeks that worked out the gate that's exciting to me. You're all of a sudden. You're like woo on Alexa analysis highly works. Yeah. Couple couple things to keep in mind if you're on Libson. You're going to be one of two things either a go in and take the two seconds to go at Amazon at yes. I, approve done or if you go to Amazon dot com slash podcasters but do not do both or you'll be listed twice so it's best to do an in Lipson because that way in the event that you actually leave Lipson when you put in a redirect redirect all the feeds so just keep that in mind as a way to avoid. Having kids and Amazon keep in mind also when you publishing episode and this is the same with apple and Google and spotify and overcast. When you hit publish your episode May Not Show Up for twenty four hours and that is something I get every single day they do have a featured section And let me share my screen I did a quick video for this on Youtube but I'll just share might the slightest specially you wanna be featured Senate email to podcast promo at Amazon.com but they're gonNa ask you for the publisher contact named series named series description promotional territory trailer released eight first episode released a release schedule desired promotion date social media accounts used to promote the show and podcast original working filed so of Photoshop file, and then if you have any questions, this is another one that we need to go. Seventy two hour turnaround at Amazon not twenty, four at six not not forty eight. It's seventy two hours and it's basically as forever. Yeah in. Yeah. So Bide casters minds, seventy two hours is forever. Yeah. But that's what it looks like on. That's what home get cheeks look like on Amazon music it's pretty basic, but it looks pretty good. It's not too bad. No, they're. They're doing the thing where they kind of pull. The artwork or the colors from the artwork? into. Your background, which is Kinda cool. Says it's Kinda Hazy back there. You can kind of see it but it allows them to get the colors and and you know it's a good start for for what they're doing I. I know. Guys feeling about visibility. You know I in circles that we run, and how do you think people are feeling about? This is GONNA get. You think you'll get more people to listen to podcasts to have it available like I said a few minutes ago it's easier to listen on ECHO devices than yeah. It was before chances are if you check yours, go ahead just got check it. Well, wait after the show but go out and check your podcast on their submitted. I didn't remember submitting it and they just worked. Yeah. So here's asked the podcast coach. So the Nice thing about it even when you're album mark came across yeah, it does do episodic in the thing. That they do which is nice as well is they do full show notes. So any kind of links things like that are banal fold they keep scrolling down is full full because like pod page does this too or they bring in the first any bringing a lot. Let me it's not completely full. Transcripts and the whole nine yards I don't know about transcripts but all the links work and a Lotta Times, this is all the show notes are. Let me see here if I go to links working is going to be scary. Yeah. Be Scared Yeah could be we go to wait I. Oh, if I click on this yes. See I've I've followed the school of podcasting. So yeah. So full shots. Just cool. And again, you can see in the background kind have that Blurry School of podcasting logo. So it's it's now what I thought was interesting is I just was listening to todd and rob over new media. Show. An Rob said that about seventy thousand. PODCASTS are there which is a very small fraction. and. This is where you get that into that whole weird anchor discussion in the anchor litter in the people in anchor submit their show or whatever. But compared to the whatever it is. One point something million. that it that's a small number and I was surprised I did have a couple of shows I knew I. knew this was coming before everybody else did and I still didn't list your podcast consultant I just was like oh not in there yet. So if you haven't listed your show over there I'm GONNA be interested to see on. Let's see what does this September you would think by November rob should have some stats over Lipson to see. What kind of percentage you know people? Will be able to see how many people actually submitted their show is there are a lot of people you know if you think about we know this stuff because in our little podcast bubble but. You know other people that are out there doing their real estate podcast and things like that. They're not really paying attention to this and they may not know to list their shows so..

"Hello there hope you're doing well. Yesterday was candidate, but there is more Canadian content on Lexi this month, and so I wanted to tell you all about that today. "Hey there it's Terry Fisher here with your flash briefing for Wednesday and if you've been following along you know that over the last couple of days. I was speaking about the different types of Amazon Music. Offerings and how it is now possible to listen to free music on. Lexi while I want to clarify this a little bit and in fact I received an email from a PR person at Amazon who wanted to clarify a few things. And I do appreciate very much. I want to clarify with you. So here is what is the actual information about the different types of music offerings. That are available through Amazon and how you can access them on Lexi. First of all there is an Amazon Music Free Tier. This is the new on. That was just announced last week and it is a service that customers can enjoy without any cost at all. There is no duration limit. And they don't need to do anything to set it up. It is by default with Lexi it offers music for free with ADS. You don't get specific access to specific songs but you can request certain music stations. And so I'll give you some examples you can say. I want to listen to pop culture or country heat or rap rotation or Canada. Now where you can say play Billy Bush play music play music and you will hear music stations that play that music but you can't necessarily specify the particular songs okay. So that's Amazon Music Free Tier then. There is the Amazon music free trial and this is a different experience. This is the free version of Amazon Music. Unlimited and you can test this for a limited time currently. It's three months for free. If you WANNA keep using that afterwards then you pay for the service. There are no ads and the customers can request specific songs and that was launched in September twenty eighteen and then there is prime music. This is what is included in the membership. If you are a prime member so in Canada prime members can stream over one million songs for free including hundreds of playlist and stations and so on. That's Ad Free on demand and that comes with your prime subscription so I hope that helps to clarify some of the services. There are a lot of options there. I think it's great that there's a lot of options. Don't be overwhelmed by the option. Sometimes when there's a lot of options it can be difficult to know which one to go with but obviously the free tier is there for you to use. Amazon Alexa Karaoke Style
"I know we're all cooped up inside and wanted to look at ways that we could use Lexi to give us a little bit more entertained and here is a very interesting way that you can do. So if you're interested in singing and here's what you can do. You can actually use Lexi as a karaoke machine. The catch to this is that you have to be using the Amazon music in order for this to work. But if you are using Amazon music it worked medically basically when you tell. Lexi to play a song and you're using Amazon music as your default music player then when it plays the song it shows the words on the screen. Now if you're not using Amazon music as your default player as I don't actually I use spotify you can still use this by simply then requesting that at that. Lexi play the song using Amazon music so for example you could say. Lexi play title of Song by artist on Amazon Music and then at work and then you can sing along to your heart's content. So hopefully that gives you something a little bit Fund for you to try while you're inside and it is entertaining. I have to say I had some fun playing with this with my kids kids yesterday and we hang a bunch of songs with lyrics on the screen so
Is Disney Plus one of the biggest launches of all time?
"Launched in November. We've seen a lot of hands of the service was popular last night. Though Disney laid out just how popular in less than three months Disney plus was hit. Twenty eight point six million members. Now I know nothing about streaming so just Joan had just. How big is that really. That's really big like bigger than Netflix. Not Not bigger than Netflix but Netflix has been streaming for a decade. Netflix says at one hundred sixty seven million subscribers so twenty eight point six you got a long way to go still but Disney plus just launch like less than ninety days ago. Okay so in three at that as well. How many how. Many months away already from Disney killing Netflix. That's a really good question. Everyone wants to know that and we don't really know exactly except that we know that Disney is already like so they said it will take them five years to get to like sixty to ninety the only and they're already almost halfway to the lower end of that threshold so they're growing much faster than they thought. They were better than any expectations. The other thing. That's interesting is even though Disney. He plus launched in November got like these millions of subscribers mostly in the US net flicks is still growing in the in the US. The managed in in the midst of all this competition. They didn't grow a lot. People were not real happy with how much they did grow. But you're still adding members even as Disney's vacuuming up all these other people for streaming services. So what's really really hurting is cable. Oh no poor cable giants. I really got to feel it. You know I feel really bad for them. Missile where where's Apple. TV Fin on all this so they launched around the same apple. TV launched on November first and Disney plus launched less than two weeks later. And we don't know like it's apple they don't say how big they are the things that we can kind of cobbled together. We can't even coupled governor any sort of numbers. We can generally generally estimate that they have a lot of subscribers in the sense that they basically gave away apple. TV plus to anybody. That's device since September. Anyone who has a new iphone. Anyone that got you know something under the Christmas tree or for a holiday or a president. Whatever during that holiday shopping season They also were able to just like flip. A switch basically internal probably means they have a lot but that's no not paying them so so what's next like when are we gonNA see Disney. Plus you know maybe have a eleven joining the avengers or something. I don't know if that's going to happen. That would be really interesting crossover but I mean we do know that Disney. Plus it's going to be launching into Europe watching the Europe Europe and India. They're gonNA lodging. Your Evan Indian March. They're going to be expanding. Hulu to international markets markets. Right now who is only in the US. They're going to expand that next year they as in Disney Disney Disney owns who also Ho boy. And then in terms of originals. We know that there's going to be the first marvel original original series that ties into the marvel cinematic universe. That's first one's coming in August. The next season the mandatory ends in October. And then they're gonNA have their second marvel original in December so there's a lot coming up this year all right well next up spotify. It's still in the lead of streaming music services This morning spotify. It has hit one hundred twenty four million subscribers and that twenty twenty two hundred seventy one million people that are listening to spotify total Joan. How's that stack up with competitors like title and Pandora It's funny title isn't really talked about much because no one. It's not really music so Amazon. Music says they have fifty five million people listening that's not necessarily subscribers. Because he Amazon music included they said there are fifty million listeners apple in June so that Apple Apple Music has sixty million and so obviously you know spotify double that number of subscribers not to mention the fact that like it has more than two hundred million people listening every month. It's just it's a lot. It's the biggest subscription music service and the reason that they think that they can become even bigger focusing on podcast today. They said they were going to buy bill. Simmons Ringer like network which is a website for news. But mostly our podcast network at this point. Because you know every single title title's it's actually an interesting example but Pandora Apple Music Amazon music. They all basically have the same catalog staff. Titles the one that has like these exclusives from it's owners but obviously that's not really really working really well for them so spotify thinks that in order to distinguish themselves they need to go after not necessarily music but podcast. Because that's not the Gimblett recently. They've given it last year. They bought anchor last year. They budgeted up to five hundred million dollars to spend on podcast. Acquisitions why does spotify care. So much about podcasts. Listen how much would they like to buy the daily charge they do. You have like five hundred million dollars budget you start the bidding there. They lay podcast because they think that. That's a way to distinguish themselves from everybody else. And you know. It's also going right after apple. PODCASTS are called podcasts because of the I pod like dominated rock for a long time. So it'll be interesting to see as everyone moves over to streaming instead of downloads if spike can eat apples lunch. Well Yeah I've seen that for Apple Apple Music. The the bigger draw for their PODCASTS. Live radio station stuff right because that's what I've been hearing about it because there's news that happens on those Nicki Menaj goes on some rant. Like Travis Scott's baby like on her life podcast hey like Dr. DRE will say something new right there. I mean is that Kinda what spotify is trying to go after radio one. You're talking about radio. One which beats radio and I think I whatever. I can't even remember what it's called but That's it's not part of their subscription. That's like that's something that anyone can listen to inc for free and so it is a way to like drop interest but the main reason apple music it's people to subscribe is because they're in a responses offenses because they're on iphones and it's the default saying
Amazon Music crosses 55 million subscribers globally, trails Apple Music
"Amazon's streaming music service has topped fifty five million subscribers globally apple last year said it had sixty million apple music subscribers Spotify has almost two hundred fifty million

"Alexa, what can we do in the car?"
"Hiring is challenging, but there's one place you can go. We're hiring is simple. And smart that place is ZipRecruiter. Where growing businesses connect to qualified candidates. Try it for free at ZipRecruiter dot com slash tech talk. Ziprecruiter, the smartest way to hire. So I've been spending the last week in my car with Alexa, asking her a lot of questions because I've been testing out to really cool tiny units that fit in the cigarette lighter entering Alexa, the car, let me tell you all about it. On today's episode talking tech. I'm Jefferson Graham. So the unit from Ankara's called the rove Viva and the unit from garment is called garments speak. We're talking fifty dollars in one hundred dollars for units that go right in the cigarette lighter connect to your smartphone for the internet and bring the joy of sending queries to everyone's favorite personal assistant as you drive along think about the need. You're driving down a dark deserted highway. You'd like Alexa, defined you gas station. You have a yen for japodlay of all things. You would like to know where the nearest japodlay is or you're just in the mood for music specific music. That's not going to come up on command on the radio. You wanna have Pandora Spotify or Amazon music plays songs by Drake. Jason meraz. Diana Krall it, and you don't feel like pulling over to start working smartphones to make these things happen. So having these units in the car is a huge vital need way. More important in a car than in the home as we really don't want to use her hands or is anything but driving. I have bluetooth in my twenty twelve Hundai, and it's good for just one thing making calls. I can't use it for music news podcasts or any other driving essential in the system messes up with using voice features on my phone making it inoperable. So with these units you plug them into the cigarette lighter you download the companion app, and you connect the units. Then you additionally, go to the Amazon Alexa app to add additional skills note that the speak is meant to be attached to the windshield and comes with a super long and annoying cord. The garments suggests wrapping around the windshield. That's easy. Easier said than done what could I do play music on command from Amazon music Pandora Spotify. Tune in I heart radio check calendar. Advance to it the time whether add to or create a shopping list, get directions with a caveat. The Garmin unit will give me turn turn directions and announce them plus show a little visual on the back of the unit. The rove will not do directions. Maybe to get the directions. You have to open up your ways or Google maps app. Use the voice direction to tell them where you wanna go. And then the apps will read your directions out loud through the unit. So that that's fine. The rove unit makes phone calls the garment speak does not also know that you'll be eating away your battery the Garmin unit does not have a charter slot while the rove has to. So a unit that cost fifty bucks brings Alexa functionality simply that has to charging outlets as well. And it can make phone calls. I'm in love, the speak gives me functionality. And I appreciate the traffic information. But I hate the long cord, and the fact that I can't use it to make calls. So for me. It's the Viva hands down for those of you listening who prefer the gulag assistant, both rove and J B L will have to go assistant products, similar products out later this year and do know that Amazon has a similar product called eco auto. But it's invite only no word from Amazon a win. This will be a consumer release. That's the low down on driving along with Alexa, questions thoughts with me on Twitter, where I'm at Jefferson Graham, you've been listening to talking tech, please describe the show on apple podcasts or wherever you listen to online audio please favored the show on Stitcher, which helps more people find the show and as always thanks everyone.
