He struggles, arguably, the biggest reason why one of the biggest reasons why they were able to put together that drive was Jason Peters coming in. Hopefully he can play that well in relief. This is going to be a problem as we look to the playoffs that teams like Philadelphia are ahead of the playoffs in December because those are teams that are capable of hunting mismatches. That's the fumble, the very next plays that interception that, in many ways, should have ended the game. And I don't know if it's he's pressing or trying to do too much because he knows the offensive line can not pass protected. It's just not a good past protecting unit. Does he feel the lack of production from the perimeter players that sometimes just the production goes down in games? It's really odd to see a guy that is a good player and that has had a strength of just seeing things with such clear vision seem to struggle with seeing very simple things. Yeah, for me, like watching this game a little bit, I was at a ten year volleyball game watching my daughter get busy, but in between, I was thinking it's just such an immature performance. And yeah, we can look at the Dallas cowboy defense and say, the Texans scored 23 points. This defense is to me watching the film is the reason they won the game. Standing up and boring they neck and a lot of situations where they had unfavorable field position because of this offense. Where's the explosiveness? This is exactly what the Dallas Cowboys did towards the end of the season last year from an offensive standpoint. Everybody kept putting graphics and stats up about their number one offense in the league and they gaining all of these yards. This is exactly how they looked when everybody thought that they would get bounced the first week of the playoffs. I thought some way they would have a resurgence. This team and to your point, Dan, it's time for dak to overcome those things. Like you are going to suffer injuries. You're going to have deficiencies this time of the year. The San Francisco forty-niners playing with their third string quarterback right now. You have to overcome it for you got to figure out a way to make this team a little bit more explosive or they'll be home watching it with us again. Amari rogers But he felt like he wanted some impact in personnel decisions and at the point when he returned to training camp most of the personnel decisions for the year had already been made but this was one that they could make acquiring. The rental cobb signing by the texans last off season was. It didn't really get much press. It was in my mind far and away the most bizarre signing of the off season. Because he got as you know. And what are we know. This money is not all what it's built up to be but I mean he got the largest total dollar contract among receivers on the free agent market. Which for a guy who the cowboys seem not very interested in retaining. And the texans certainly didn't have a desperate need for wide receiver and really the entire wide. Welker it wasn't until the last three years where bella check whiffed on several drafts very few pro bowlers almost no playmakers that brady started getting frustrated and i think wanted more of a say in more respect then but jimmy johnson came on our show yesterday and said this green bay situation is not that difficult. Junior so i think ideally is a quarterback. You should just worry about being quarterback in fact if you watched the documentary what you discovered as brady didn't have much of a relationship or conversations with ballot check. How would you slot devante and think about if you wanted to go wide receiver in round. One thing about those guys. They're all now first round picks there all i believe within the top eleven overall in the top one fifty and i mean they're they're tough to sort you know i thought about putting davante adams at number one Over tyree kill thought about putting him in number two over stefan digs but you know the big playability. The small narrow target distribution in kansas city betting on patrick mahomes have a better season than aaron rodgers. I think gives tyree kill the edge and then with stefan digs. Just the the ability of stefan digs. Just jump in pretty much cold with very little practice. Time with josh. Allen do what he did. Last year lead the nfl catches and receiving yards. And now they're entering number two with the full off season and the full august to prepare And the use of a little bit on the side of stefan digs. And i like that for sure and one thing to note when you are drafting. Aj dylan now is that you know if something were to happen to aaron jones. Aj dill and all of a sudden becomes a potential league winner So that makes aj dylan a lot more attractive. In addition to the fact that now he can be a guy that potentially provides you with some Some standalone value and is like a potential Flex option each week on. It would be very tied to touchdowns and he'd be very volatile score. Even the best case scenario with aaron jones healthy but now he's got a little bit of a floor and very high ceiling if something were to happen aaron jones. Do you wanna give the people a quick scouting report on my rogers. Just in general. Do you think he has to beat out. When i scouted in compton to tiki barber. I thought he was by far and away. The best value of the entire running back class. I think it could also be interesting with that. Parsons or german davis linebacker for the cowboys linebacker for the washington football team. "Was drafted another god. I'm fairly high on From clemson at cal. I'll let you discuss him. I think about what rogers. I'm not nearly as high on rogers as they consis I think a lot of people saw him when he went to green bay. I think everybody's been so ready for the green bay packers to have another wide receiver inserted in the draft. You know and we're just intimidating in anticipating but you know. I really don't think amari rogers profiles is the number two wide receiver in the fact. That rogers is a situation is so up in the air to say the the to say the least you know. I am not projecting broader. You're gonna be there long term and if that's the case you know is jordan love gonna be all support a wide receiver you know. Are we even sure that amari rogers is better than allen. Lazard now is dead fund as the guy that they went out and got in free agency it to be the number to receiver going into last year before he opted out. You know he's back on the roster as well and he's only twenty seven years old. I think people are really forgetting about devin. Funchess to be honest with you You know this is a guy that has already been a top twenty wide receiver in his career. So i think there's a lot more competition in green bay than a lot of people are are are getting Giving them credit for and The roger situation really makes me uneasy. Amaury writers has some talent. I i just don't think he's anything special. I just think that he's at best a middle level starter of the nfl. And i don't see much of a window of him being much higher especially as long as davante adams is on that team. 'cause i just don't see that the target share i mean it's a. It's a team that clearly wants to run the ball as much as possible. So i'm not nearly as how marta riders. I i know a lot of people are people are taking them in mid second rounds now and i think that that's a mistake. I think he was the best of water. Rogers is a guy that has pretty much been undervalued this entire process and now all of a sudden he's going green bay people hiding him and i'm not high on him because he's going to green by on more high in him because of the talent and the potential that i see and i do think that he has the potential to be the number two receiver in green bay S a good gig. Because even if aaron rodgers is not there in a long term disturbance excellence head coach matt floor and they still have a quarterback enjoy jordan love and we really don't we haven't seen much from during love so we can't make a lot of assumptions. But he was still you still first round pick in an quarterback the has a lot of potential people were comparing him to patrick mahomes and he. He was more of a quarterback they just needed to be developed. So i think that. I think that there's a good chance that jordan love could turn into a successful quarterback if the packers ended up do and not Having rogers under center. We are officially in draft season. No combine this year but the pro days are underway and we have a lot to get to on today's show. Yeah we have a lot to get to because of the first official week abroad as we're seeing guys run get some measurable and it's important because without a combine unlimited access to the players these measurements and metrics really really mattered. No doubt we're going to have the clemson pro day. Some updated information on that our evaluation of some of their top players. Coming up here in just a second but do want you to stick around for later on the show because what we've been doing with pro on prospect where we take somebody that's at the professional level a player that's been compared to a current draft prospect. And we get a chance to have him evaluate the college players. So we're going to do that with jk dobbins. We won't tell you what running back he's going to be evaluating. We're also going to take the jets and door move the sticks body shop and see if we can't try and fix them a wisdom ideas with free agency as well as the draft so be on the lookout for that a little bit later on in the show. But let's kick things off your first big pro day and that takes place at clemson buck where we have some real interesting players really highlighted. I would say by travis n. who's in my opinion. He's atop brian back. I believe the is the number two running back in this draft class but a pretty special football player. Yeah he's a very very special football player and look. He didn't disappoint you. Comes in weighing two hundred. Fifteen pounds runs reported times in the four range. You get a chance to see him. Run around and catch. The ball made some great catches displaying his hands. And so it really comes down to now when you check off the boxes for him. Where's a great fit for him because he certainly is in every dow running back. He's one of those new school running. Back that can play in any system is really just a matter of when will you hear his name when the tag off the board i talked to scout was there and he said on his watch she had him at four four one and at four four three which is plenty fast he did two hundred and fifteen pounds and talking to some folks that have visited with him the other day he'd got up to eighteen to nineteen and training. I think he really wanted to add some bulk for context. He played around two. Oh to nine to ten. And that range so i think adding some of that bulk probably's what produced that low four. Four time you heard about previously was he would run in a low four threes and you see that speed on tape it translates and so when i'm trying to figure out who does this guy remind me of what i'm studying him. I go back to jamaal charles when he was coming out of texas. I see a lot of the same things when the foot is in the ground and he gets up field. There's a special burst there and there's some sneaky strength as well you guys bounce off him once he gets out in the open field yeah. The comparison is very valid. one Running style very similar one cup runners. But then the way that i envision it's being utilized in the passing game screens swings things that allow him to touch the ball in space where he has a little more room to dazzling create jamaal. Charles made a living at that as a pro runner. I think travis at the end can certainly follow in those footsteps are. Let's let's get onto some of these other clemson players got a couple of intriguing. Wideouts here when you look at amari rogers and cornell powell the times again from a scout the scout amari rogers was four five four four five. Oh cornell pal four five four four five three. But we're seeing amari rogers here on the screen book not not just lined up in the slaughter outside at this pro you see him actually lined up. Get some running back wraps. Yeah i think what happened with the maurie rodgers when you look at him physically. He's built like a running back contacted two hundred and twelve pounds. it's huge four slot receiver. And then you put him in the workout. You put them in running back. You can begin to talk yourself answering the possibility of him being not quite as dynamic as an antonio gibson but being one of those players that you utilize in a utility role maybe this lot maybe the third down back out of the backfield catching passes but he certainly is a weapon. And i think what scallops are trying to do is give him the best opportunity to get on the field so the offense coordinator can see with his imagination. You know what amaury rods could be very very valuable player for us when you watch him at clemson you see the quick hitters. You'll see him work in the same. He's a really really tough kid. We talk it'd be built like a running back. Also get him the ball on some jet sweep so to be able to line him up at one one snap in the slot. Hit him with the jet sweep. You can line them up in the backfield and ralph with him out of the backfield to me and gives you a lot of variety of what you can do with. His skill set also can help you return some kicks if you need that is well. How about cornell powell and what you saw from him. I mentioned the time. Four five four four five three. What did you think of him as a player. When i think he's a body beautiful athlete. You see him. He is big broad shoulders. You like to think that he would be able to do. The dirty work really came into his own this year. More of a mover has a bill that you talked about those times into four for our brains. That's about how he played tape. I think he's another big body. Why y receiver that you throw into the mix maybe third or fourth receiver who also gives you some contributions on special teams. Well you mentioned special teams. He did it at clemson. This somebody had to wait his turn behind a long list of quality wide receivers. They've had their dabble. Sweeney's done a wonderful job of recruiting that position. But i've seen them you see him as a gun or on pot where he's outstanding that toughness translates to special teams. And you don't have to wonder about it. You can actually see him do that on the tape. He's a little bit tight. I think you can see that through some of the workouts as well. But i think he's gonna end up going on day three but i'm with you. I think you try tried find a role third fourth receiver and he's going to have value on fourth downs because of his ability to cover kicks. So it's gonna be interesting class. There i would add jackson carmen. The offensive tackle from clemson did not work out. He had back surgery right after the season. So we'll see how that impacts him as he goes to the draft process most likely still a day two pick. They're coming out of clemson. Really one of the few really good offensive. Linemen clemson has produced. It's been the one whole program are let's get. Let's keep the receiver talk going here baucau. There's so many wideouts in this draft class as we saw last year really the last couple years again. We have it this year. Have nineteen receivers. That i have you know top three round grades on so i figured let's go day one day to day three and just highlight maybe not the best guy but but somebody that you really really have an affinity for. You'd stand on the table for you ready to roll. Let's start let's start day one day one receiver that you could fight for in the room. Well i'm gonna give you yeah was a borderline day. One receiving i'm say terrorists marcher from lsu and the reason. Why terrorists more so to me is intriguing this year to step in and really occupied the lead road. Marchetto is and there. obviously justin. Jefferson had moved on to the national football league and he responded with a nice year over. Seven hundred. Receiving yards has. Ten touchdowns has twenty three touchdowns in his career. So when you think about gas who can put the ball into paint who can make plays down to red zone terrorist. Marshall.
