"At night and that's why we wanted to start testing at night. But insurance institute for highway safety president David harkey says only one of the 23 vehicles they tested, the Nissan pathfinder, avoided a collision with a pedestrian dummy in all of their nighttime testing scenarios. The Chevy Malibu Honda pilot Nissan altima and Toyota Tacoma did not slow at all or barely reduced speed before striking a dummy in multiple scenarios. Still harkey says the fact that any vehicle did well is encouraging. U.S. job openings rise, I'm Mark Hamrick with a bank rate dot com personal finance manager. I'm often asked whether the job market is good while I might have an immediate reaction to that question with the unemployment rate having dipped as low as it has, as with so many things, it's more complicated. Let's start with the number of job openings, most recently reported by the U.S. Labor Department. That number off its recent high, but still elevated at 11.2 million jobs. Looking at that alone, you might say, that's good, and it is a good thing for workers in search of new opportunities and a reflection of job security. Here's the problem, the number of unemployed workers is about half that number. So there's a mismatch between the number of open jobs and the supply of workers available to fill them. And this mismatch is something that's drawn attention from the nation's Central Bank as a potential source of inflation to chairman Jerome Powell and his colleagues they see historically high inflation and the strong job market as a call to action, meaning higher interest rates. "Yeah, I have all the cool toys. Paid for by the cartels and the people violating the law that it's so great when they very much Christy schiller. And her rich friends who like to give lots of money to give dogs away and less the one who thought it was when they had a demonstration. She probably told you this too, but when they did their first fundraiser and they were showing the dogs and doing the dope hides, she thought that they were districts. Oh, that's like a party trick. That's so cool. No, it's not a party trick. Duh. Yeah. Hey, let's start before we get into this big seizure. What is the hairiest situation you've had to face with one of your canines? What's one of the toughest situations you were involved in? Man, I don't know. Harry, I mean, losing the first dog was a little, you know, I didn't really like that. As far as like bad guys, like chasing bad guys, Harry, maybe the second dog, so some guys showed up to this residence and held a family at gunpoint and stole some stuff and took off running. I guess that's not a good example, but we ended up tracking them down. They were hiding in a barn. Really nothing I can think of that's too crazy. But you know, I mean, just going back to that example, you showed, are you just told us about where your dog just showed up beside your side there, your experience and your training is what kept you alive because we all know action is quicker than reaction. So if you probably think people are probably thinking, well, you thought something was wrong, but you pulled a gun and pointed it that man. It's based on your experience, realizing that if he had gone for his gun at the same time, you went for yours, who's the quicker draw. I mean, it sounds western like a some TV show, but the truth is he could have beat you on the drone, killed you out there on the road that day. So I just want to point out to the listeners. You don't just normally pull people over stick a gun in their face. There's circumstances that result in that behavior. Yeah, and it goes, I mean, that sticks out. I mean, I talked to it. I talk about it like it's so casual, but to the normal person, I mean, you gotta realize you're stopping multiple cars a day, like, you know, I don't even know. You're meeting with multiple people a day. So when you stop that one car and that one guy and you get all this adverse different behavior that that's not normal, it sticks out so it's so obvious and it's the same thing with the dope. I mean, when you're searching cars and searching cars and searching cars and then, you know, you look underneath a Nissan altima and you see something that you've never seen on a Nissan altima, then it's the same thing, man. That different sticks out immediately. Absolutely..

And The fact that The president. At this point in time. Is Telling everybody you've got to go get the shot. Uh, Lewis. This ties him with cars and the vehicle. Did you have to drive your car down there to get a shot or something? I mean, what's the problem? It. There's no problem. The only thing is, I feel that the president Is overstepping his boundaries. All right, well, we move on please off subject as we can be. So Lewis calling one night when we're talking about Medicines that do we don't work and President Biden and on that note, Enjoy your weekend night night, Lewis I want people to stick to the subject. Michelle in Maldon. Good evening. Hello. Hello, Michelle. Hi. I have a car question. I had a an oil change and a and I got my state inspection sticker. On Thursday. And when I got home I was getting into a tight parking space was breaking a lot. And every time I put my foot on the brake, I heard a click. And I called the dealer to see if there's anything they did that could have caused that. And they said nothing. They didn't take the tires off. Um, to check bags or anything, And I wasn't sure in this state inspection. Is it something I should check out? I have never heard this before. Um yes, indeed. I pretty much know what you're talking about. What's the year Make and model of your car. Michelle from Alden. It's a 2011 Nissan Altima. All right. Okay, So here's what's going on. Most likely during the state inspection, they exercise your emergency brake to make sure that your merger break hold. Right. Okay. Is that something that you normally use? No, no, very little right. So they act so they exercised it. And the shoes moved into the lock position, and then they released it again. Bizarre because it isn't used much. It didn't fully seat the shoes back in their home. So now I just stopping the shoes are moving that little bit back and forth. Because they haven't completely come back to their home base. If you will, where they normally sit. When your foot is when the emergency brake is not set. The bad part is you may be driving around with it with an emergency brake that is partially applied. Couple of things happen. Number one. You burn more fuel number two. You strain your transmission number three. You make your car run hotter. It works everything harder. So what you want to do first thing is you want to Make sure that all the wheels of spending free And that would be the first thing that I would look for. The guy came to my shop. I would go for a road test. Listen to what will is coming from and I would go in and I would have to look at the emergency brakes system. Because I think that's all it's going to be as not really a huge deal to take care of, but it can become a huge deal if you ignore it. So if I if I press the emergency brake and released it a few times with that help at all, or no, mayday, it may help it. Or it may make it worse. Okay, so I should have someone Look at it. I Yes, I think you should be at a shop. They should take it out for road test with you say yes. This is the noise. I'm hearing it started after.

"Has two point. Five million guaranteed deal. That has any of the clippers. Young guys stood out to you through summer league on the guys that you mentioned for sure with kiana. I think we expected that there's a lot of With summer league We will go down the line and kind of go line by line with some of the guys. I know and be more specific but is with summer league. You really just have to take so many different things into consideration. Like what types of players do well and summer league typically. I was kind of going back and looking it historically If there were any sort of she's historic deep summer league statistical deep dive. Well i was just i was. I was at a glance. i didn't. it's been that much time. But just a spreadsheet guile no that no. I didn't run any mom or anything like that. But i mean like just the types of players who tend to thrive and if those can create sort of misleading narratives. And things like that. I was just looking to see a lot of times like really confident. High risk tolerance like self creators. I can give you some some results. That can be misleading. I was thinking back about like Jordan mcrae josh. Selby guys like that they can go out and get baskets in that context in the in the chaos and the lack of organization that do well but in terms of them. I mean yeah. Boston had some moments looking at his numbers. His dribble dribble shooting percentages. Were pretty wretched It's it's interesting that he got that guaranteed deal where he did though and i think. La is a good spot for him. I guess we didn't really get to talk about it after the draft He's closer to home. You know especially with his situation where he is right now. The fact that he got the guaranteed deal at that spot Historically i don't even know if there have been many cases of that happening what did he go fiftieth. Thank it was It was pretty late. Yeah it was late in the second round and For on the other side of this with memphis looks like they're you know maybe they'll try to take a step forward here From playing into you know solidified playoff team. But this team's young i. It's a young team draft. Zaire williams the tenth pick and then they treated into the thirty thirtieth big to take santee. Altima zaire williams. That's a guy that you really really loved out of his freshman year at stanford. I i like him. Not quite as high as on as you are in the summer league. The numbers haven't been great and just like they weren't at stanford averaging twelve and a half points per game shooting thirty eight percent from the floor shooting twenty percent from three. He's hat himself. Some good moments you know. Have you have you wavered at all about your belief in him as a tall lanky score For based on what you've seen from summer leagues. I still feel the same. I'm still very iffy on is upside down. Neither of us have really moved. I mean in terms of. I guess the question is what do you think is upside is or what. What do you think i think is upside is when we think about this because i think that is upside is catch and shoot player slash off the catch defend multiple positions like shoe dribble. Pull ups like off. The you know what i mean like. If he doesn't have it three. Shoot a gerbil. Pull up things like that. I don't he is very far away from being a self creator. He is very far away from being any kind of like a high level decision maker and traffic in transition. He is not good. Like i mean he loses the ball a lot. He his his ball control in general. But i do expect him be a decent Catch and shoot guy the nba. And and if i still feel the same way about him In that sense i mean. I don't expect him to be outta conversation. Memphis people i was like they were like paul george comps for him in high school. I was like i never know. It's more like he's going to be like a like a multi tool sort of I hate that three cliche thing. But i mean he's gonna hit threes and defend multiple positions. That's what i expect the next jaw. That's okay yeah exactly. I mean that's that's an okay thing. If that's the baseline expectation in e becomes more than that that then you're talking here then you're talking about like a perfectly. You don't complementary core there jam rant and a six foot eight score who can create after dribble if he becomes that i do think to your point kyle granted. He didn't shoot. Three's well in summer league fairly stiff mechanics. Hopefully that can work out over time. He's not a poor free. Throw shooter by any means. He looked good attacking closeouts. Like you said one thing i found. He told chris vernon on his local radio. Show a couple of weeks ago that he's like a five thousand calorie a day diet and he's been doing that for months now since pre-draft and he's like i've only game like six or seven pounds. How's that even paul. So you know. How jealous i am of him. He's burn calories a day. Those people don't. I can't relate at all i do five thousand a day but the results are seven pounds per day. Yeah he's he's a skinny guy man. I mean he has really skinny shoulders too. So it's like him as well Finishing around the rim defensively does negro in that sense and then with the thirtieth pick they traded up or into that pick draft sandy. Altima who the summer league. How would you describe how sad he held them as performed. Kyle.

"Every thursday. Mike morris is back in the saddle with me here even keep this one on the on the rails recently got. I'm i'm. I'm a little riled up but k. Think i'm i think i have some semblance of control okay. I think i'm going to be. Oh i can work with that. I can keep that there. You got a couple of guys. This you got got the button ready if i gotta take a quick break And then angel angel will escort you out of the studio. No thanks for Thanks for having me. Love love it. I enjoy it all right. So do we want to start. We want to get You get the insurance the way to ask the poll question. What do you where do you want to go for. You know. I wanna say and everybody thinks you difference right. I can't. I couldn't imagine why that who who knew what i preach. It's people ask me all the time. Mike what's the best insurance right. None i say that ingest of course believe to my core that it's more important who your agent is right. I believe that to my core. Because and then you want an honest agent that actually cares about you Which brings me to my story. Okay let's hear is important. I had to allstate claims. Okay to allstate. Claims one was on a two thousand twenty nissan. Altima that has been at the shop over a month and a half and the other one is on a two thousand fourteen dodge pickup who drive loaded brier slider the whole both have allstate insurance. The dodge had its telomeres out the entire time. It of course. Of course it has to do that. Even if you're not showing it looks good somebody to me so at any rate Two different agents too different agents. Now we have been fighting for a month and a half on this. Two thousand twenty nissan altima. You know they figured aftermarket parts. They've i mean just their estimate was a joke. I'm not even. It wasn't even in the ballpark estimates. So we sent our stuff off to allstate again and again and again never get a response. We'd call the claims department you see are the front of our file on all of our interactions with allstate and we never got anywhere. We suggested to the owner. Rescind man we are getting blank. These people won't even show up to talk about this. Why don't you call your agent and de like. Oh yeah great. You know mij- really good guy been so guess what the agent told him puts that and this is after the three weeks of trying to get allstate to do something three weeks. The agent said trust the process. These things take time i would have. If i would have been in the room with him. i probably would have slapped. And that's what general managers of bad franchises sports franchises. When when they're like trying to rebuild trust the process process. But you know. That's i mean for the listeners. That's a bad agent discount. So incomes the susie. She's an agent with all state. Same company out of brighton And we have this two thousand fourteen dodge and we've been at this for like four or five days and you know nothing's same things happening so i suggest to the owner. Call your agent Guess what happens. The agent then picks up the phone calls me and says how can i help. And i'm like. Wow this is great this is this is what you agents are supposed right and i said this impresses me and it takes a lot to impress me. But she got on the phone and Made those phone calls. And i had a call back which i was not able to get for four days. I had a callback with an. I don't know it might have been a half an hour from the realtor so then we go through this. I send the adjuster pictures. I send my estimate and i don't know probably an hour later. He sends me back a supplement. That's two thousand dollars. Less than what i was asking for. He didn't read any of the line notes and he sent me an email saying and didn't ask any questions either. Sent me an email saying well. Just go ahead and go back through that same process if you have any questions. What do you mean. If i have any questions you sent back something two thousand dollars less right so i call suzy out of all state in writing and she picks up the phone and this is where i got. It is so important. Who your agent is i. That adjuster called me back after five o'clock and he said well i'm off the clock. I go well. Why didn't you just call me. he will. We're not allowed to to do anything like that. We have to pay this. I'm like this happened to be on procedures. And then i in any rate and parts and But any rate she picked up the phone and this was after five o'clock that adjuster me back. And i got an estimate back corrected within forty five minutes so before i left at six i had an estimate so pats off to the good age out and i know they exist. They do they do in. This is i mean no matter what industry. You're in that personal. That is something that will never go away. In this way. It'll be the personal aspect of it. And look i mean car accidents. Danes dance they happen to everybody's cars. That's why i like talking to the every single week about you know. How do we get through that process. And like i said and today it is. It is so important guys when you go to buy insurance. Don't just shop price. You need an agent. It's going to talk to you about the coverage talked about rental car talked about your deductibles and ask a lot more questions than just push thing in. Your premium will be a one hundred dollars if they're not asking questions. You got the wrong agent so hats off to the good aid. Yes i know the exist right. Yeah this is. This is not a personal. It's going to be a plug. But they also have a lot of my stuff up there. What i like about terry gersh after and insurance. Is that He's he's Not incorporated with one company. So he can go get you the best deal not not deal pricewise shopping but the best the best deal that fits you the best and those are out there. I think those are incredibly important as well but when he has somebody that will fight for your best interest And you can go and knock on their door and have the local aspect of it so. The show was founded on that local aspect. It's huge yeah and and it is. It is very very important a channel. You look at all the ads. Gyco for instance which is lacking lizard. The oh my god. They're they're the worst company we deal with but gyco last year spent one point. Six billion billion with a b Advertising and then they come in and say well we have to buy this. Really cheap part won't really one point six billion. You probably like that thought of spent somebody. They're going to get him out because i do. But then they deserve to be bagged on sorta saying it is more important. Who repairs your car. And it's more important who your agent is. Dan and i'm i'm always happy To gives me hope. When i see agents step up and fight for their customers because it's refreshing it is very it's beyond refreshing emmy because i'm in that battle every day i will tell you this And then then we'll close. And then i went on but The companies themselves whether it be state farm american family the companies. Don't care that. I you are a number to that. Your agent should up. Your agent should site. That's variables that said kudos to allstate and bright. Well done i love. I.

"Or maybe by the federal government. Or maybe by I don't know, I know that most of people you know, they don't In my business. They don't want the flak. They don't want to hear that. You know, they don't want to get 50 phone calls and then have to deal with. You know the corporate head, not get it all I understand it. But why doesn't TV reflect the way we really speak and really are, And I've said this many times. That and my dad used to say this to me when I was real little that You know, I got caught shooting A B B gun at crows. When I was about seven, I was hanging out with these 10 year olds. And my dad took a stand of the Morgan showed us. Ah, body. My dad was a cop at the time or just just about to retire and showed us a body with a bullet hole. The corpse You know, And it was. I mean, I'll never forget. You know what? I don't forget. I could remember the from Altima formaldehyde smell all these years later. So I mean, you know, I learned, he said, when people die on TV, if people showed how hard it is to die, and how people fight and the get nobody want to ever see it again. We have sanitized death. And shootings on TV person Get shot, They fall down. It's over. You really want to show it show the person gasping for air and the person trying to keep them alive, kneeling over them and some vested bills, they cling to life. That's what the real message is. Should be. We try to sanitize the world for whatever reason. I've had people say this to me many times. Why do you have to use those words when it's doing stand up comedy? I don't know why you guys have to use those words because they're funny. And it's it. It's how people talk. Not everybody. Then I respect that. But, you know, again talk radio. Yes, is at its core. Is an intimate conversation between me and you. That tens of thousands of people, but the two of us And you know, we should have a conversation that is on a certain level. And I don't think we should just use words fortuitously. But I do find it interesting that we try to substitute words that aren't the same that don't do it. Used to make a joke about that. How my dad wouldn't curse he would keep Jesus. Mary Joseph would say that right? You know, he said it with more a scared me more than if he'd said the real words. This is my like if you're going to play math number at least you're going to buy it anyway, so do you gain anything from having Game Pass like it if you aren't going to play those games you just going to play the same games. Anyway, there's Freights bad to buy the games and have them forever rather than for a few months, You could spend $60 on Game Pass Altima and get it for months or you could spend it on the game and have it for the full year until the next one comes out and I think like you have to do some soul-searching there and decide whether you actually need to use it or not. Cuz if you don't have a lot of time to play you're probably going to play the games you like like I know be a man. So do you need all these other games? Probably not and also like if you decide you want using it then you have to go buy them. Games afterwards like if you unsubscribe and then that's another $60 you do get a disabled veteran. You have lost your games on game pass. Do you have a discount when you buying yeah. Yeah 10% Yeah. You have to buy the game if you start and that's a lot of men your thing. You've lost money. This is the key if you're not interested in playing anything besides your family life that in in MLB the Show, then there is no point in Game Pass ultimate by those two games sixty dollars a pop and you're done..

"Welcome back to the PODCAST Sal Marquez. Here and today. I have the privilege of hosting Chris Democ and Carlos Arce both are at the outstanding company elation. Chris is the founder and he's been interested in what drives improved human performance since his days in college, a curiosity about developmental psychology expanded into a love for organizational development and the design of technologies that improve organizational performance. He was inspired to start elation after a career the tech industry is passion. Passion for helping people through the use of innovative technologies transition into a calling to help people flourish by applying what they know from neurobiology and mindset research, seeing the transformative benefits of his approach, it's only fueled his enthusiasm, and helped the track, an extraordinary team of people who share in the mission Carlos Arce is the Organization of Development Consultant and facilitator at Elation, and he's been highly successful as a keynote speaker, workshop, presenter and consultant he works. Works directly with many of the clients and organization hired by Elation. He's a coach and teacher, whose purpose is to inspire people to be better. He continually helps leaders. Companies achieve outstanding business results while improving organizational culture and employee engagement. These are these are things that we all strive for in our businesses, and in our in our organizations and today we're going to dive into the work that they're doing at elation to help with the problem physician burnout. burnout and the feeling of lack of community, those things that are so important and primary needs in in Even you think of Maslow's hierarchy of needs they're they're getting after it in a big way and have seen a lot of success, and and I'm and I'm privileged to have both of them here with us today to talk about the work that they're doing so Carlos and Chris. Thanks so much for joining me on the podcast today. So, thanks for having a huge absolutely so before we dive into the work of Elation love to to get a feel for what inspires both of you to to work within healthcare. Well, this is Chris. I have looked at the statistics in healthcare over the last several years, and been absolutely sort of amazed at the level at which out has become an issue among physicians and other medical personnel you know studies been fairly consistent that it's around the fifty percent level of diagnosis symptoms of burnout, according to the WHO's diagnosis trim, so it is sort of a burning platform issue for healthcare in the United States If you have physicians who are performing at less than their optimum. Ability obviously impact the quality of outcomes or people, yeah, and unsolved. That's a great question. I had the privilege of actually spending thirteen years of my career in healthcare as the. Support percent at a title that some people find a little bit mystical called chief learning officer for a portion of that time where you got I got a chance to really experienced the industry on a daily basis, and to be honest with you. It was an extraordinary privilege to watch the kind of work that's happening daily by nurses and doctors, and in my time there I really got a chance to explore the cultural dynamics of howled interactions. Interactions between professionals how the interactions between administration and clinicians although kind of contributes to the general sense of the support and the affect of daily activity rate, so in my case I wasn't necessarily ride into address burnt out, but I was really focus on. How do you altima optimized performance of both individuals in the group? So I had a passion for healthcare from the very beginning when we started doing work with elation seen the results that we. We, were accomplishing private sector, a lot of different kind of exploratory technologies in the combination of exporatory and proven methodologies. That's thought had something. I think that can contribute to this to this industry that is as Chris. Put you know dealing with some pretty challenges, free dot, daunting threats that happen on a regular basis. And how do we make sure we we We give it to the folks who need it the most love asset so. So fantastic I mean. The problem is clear, and and you know we we talk about the quadruple aim that fourth one being you know clinician satisfaction, right and wellness, and so you guys are tackling it head on, if providers aren't healthy, then it's going to be even harder to provide better outcomes for patients overall, and and so let's let's dive into it, guys. What is it that elation is doing to add value to the provider ecosystem? Yeah I'll I'll take that on crystal in. If you want to chime in, feel free to. My. What we're doing is we're looking at the problem. In its most authentic form, we are addressing this as an organizational dynamic. We see that we know the pathway that clinicians have to take to become practitioners in this country is not easy. It is not for the faint of heart, so we actually often referenced the notion that we'd take some of the most resilient humans on the planet and created epidemic burnout, and so if you're honest about that. That statement and you have to acknowledge the systemic implications of that. You know what what's happening when you put those people into this workplace that over time ends up eroding this amazing competency that they bring to the table, so that's an important element because of our approach because of that focus. We see that there isn't. This isn't about fixing physicians and this isn't about this direct cause and effect relationship that will just one thing is causing. Causing this dynamic for everybody there is a local element to this that you've got to pay attention to. And then there's this combination of both the individual and the individual with Indus Group in the system, so we've taken methodologies that are helpful for individuals like executive coaching that we know works and puts people in the right spot. We've taken this approaches. We've learned for organizational development when it comes to creating workplace cultural dynamics that are that. That are healthy, and that are actually what we would call resilient, enough themselves, so this idea of organizational resilience which involves group work and group interactions between the the key players, and we have kind of combine those two ultimately influence not only the individual themselves in a way, and give them informed about what helps them, or what actually contributes or undermines their own resilience, but also best in them as catalyst for change within that

The New Horizons spacecraft is about to explore the farthest object ever: Ultima Thule

"This is new horizon spacecraft. He's now will sit up for its New Year's day encounter with the distant Coppa built object. 2014 MU sixty nine ultima Thule among its approach observations over the past three months, the spacecraft's pay taking hundreds of images to measure Ultimas brightness. And how it varies is the object rotates, and those measurements have produced emissions latest mystery about Altima, even those scientists determine back in twenty seventeen that this compability object isn't shit like fear that it's probably very elongated potato-shaped, maybe even to objects. That's a mystery and itself, they haven't seen the repeated possessions in brightness that that expect a fine from a rotating object of that shape periodic variations in brightness during every rotation produce. What scientists call a light curve, and you horizons principal investigator Allen stern from the southwest research institute says ultima Thule slight curve is tiny and a real puzzle. Now one possible. Explanation for this is that the orientation of automobiles rotational axis might be aimed are the directly at all very close to the new horizon spacecraft. So the probes actually seeing this copper about object and on, but it's also possible that ultimately surrounded by a thick cloud of dust. And that does could be obscuring the light curve in much the same way a comet's coma. Often overwhelms the light reflected by the central nucleus. The problem is if this was a come coming from ultimate fool. It would require a hate souls, and the sounds too far away to provide that and even more bizarre scenario is one in which ultimately will surrounded by lots and lots of tiny, tumbling moons. If h moon has it's own light curve, then together they could create a jumbled superposition of light curves that make it look to new horizons like ultima Thule has a really tiny like of the problem with that idea is that there is no parallel to any other body in the solar system. Placing it into the unlikely basket the real answer to this mystery will only become clearer. When you horizon Switzer the ultimate Phil taking its high resolution images on year's
