"That's true. And I think history will not judge Fernando as harshly as say maybe Ricardo at the moment. Certainly the hates the furthest. All right, Jared and Robert. For a second awake at all right. I have all the good segments. The ones I would like to use on this show. Am I going to commission F one three 6? Yeah, so I may as well just plagiarize it. For Daniel, I think if let's say, Jared, your face lighted out paid. Because my thinking was, with obviously Sergio Pérez's contract. Now in our Sergio pros is warranted. He's seats. But if you were Daniel Ricciardo's management and you just went, okay. We've had asked into why we've been out of the pool for a little bit. Maybe we need to come back. Maybe we need to come back to Red Bull. And come to terms with, okay, it's almost like, well, Red Bull have had their great purge where they have had success with Max Verstappen. That's done. So now it's like everything else is kind of a bonus, and because, well, if you go back now, it's like, yeah, I know this is max's team. So your psychology changes around your stint at Red Bull because it's like, well, I know I'm walking into max's team and that's very much the forefront forefront of my mind. I'm coming back with my tail between my legs a little bit, but it's for the greater good because this car is a weapon when I dry this. It's interesting, isn't it? Because the reason he left was that he knew was Max Verstappen's team, right? So to go back to Red Bull, would be an admission that he's pretty the prepared to be the number two driver, or he's prepared to butt head sufficiently with red ball. And not necessarily, let's say obey the way the team works, which to be feared or Red Bull. I mean, it's never really been tested to be honest in Max Verstappen's era. But they're not explicit about the number one number two thing, right? Like everything about it, we will talk about your stuff a little bit later in the show much that I don't like to talk about your stuff and they haven't stopped Sergio Pérez from winning while they did literally do that in Spain, but you know they haven't laid in Monica didn't do it. They're willing to let him win, you know, if he ends up being a hit in the championship, maybe they'll even let him win. Who's to say? But he will very clearly be going there to upset the apple cart or accept that he's the number two driver. Which so I'm not convinced that he would have done it, but it is really interesting, isn't it? Because and it's ironic. Because had Sergio Pérez not been working out, Red Bull would still be all these years later suffering for the fact that Daniel Ricciardo left them. Because that's all they've been doing since Sergio Pérez arrived. Arguably, since this year, even though Paris had some good drives last year, have just been looking for someone to replace Daniel Ricciardo, which used to be pretty much the quickest Mac 7, even though I haven't even got this set site set that high. They just want someone who's almost as quick as Max Verstappen. Whereas Daniel arguably could be there bad, so much closer. On paper anyway. He could go back and be literally the role that they wanted. So I don't know. It is a really interesting hypothetical because he willingly traded the performance of Red Bull earlier on for the potential of something more. Will he be just going, well, I'm in the layers Red Bull. It's a really interesting hypothetical, isn't it? One will never get to know the answer to. Unfortunately. Yeah. But where else will he go? So obviously if this McLaren thing is just not working out for whatever reason. And it happens. We say it's just not where we are now, by the way. Because we assuming that this is not that it's over, I'm not willing to preempt whether or not he's going to walk away from his contract or with a McLaren might even sack him, although it's been reported. I think it's the other way around that Ricardo has the options, not McLaren. Are we assuming that this is not going to ever work? The Ricardo McLaren take the posters off the wall to never going to happen. The orange merchandise. Because it's almost a case of it's almost like now or never. Even if because I don't know if he wants to do another year of just the gamble of just like, it's just the environment is just not working. He's eating this. This should have been the turning point for him. And it just has not occurred. He started okay with that. He got COVID and all sorts of myriad of reasons why just hasn't worked out. So I don't know if he can just, I think, psychologically, I think he just need another race it. He's jumping around more than ironically Fernando Alonso was back in the day in terms of, well, I need to find my mojo again. At a different squad. And it's very hard to find because it's just, you know, where else are you going to go? He's not going to go to Mercedes. That's not happening. Ferrari, that's not happening. Red Bull now that's not happening. So what do you got to ask the Martin? What are you going to do there? Certainly not. I can't go to alpha Tori. No. Can't go to obviously can't go helping. Yeah, we know how much he loves America, but Andrea doesn't exist yet. What are you doing? Alfa Romeo, no, no, he's no room here. He in our room. I knew Joe, no..

"It's nice when we sort of go into the final stages of the season and there's sort of like tied on points or neck and neck to clean Abu Dhabi. But I just think this has been such a knockout blow by Alpine on a weekend one year after I came along with nothing. It's going to be really tough, I think for them to turn it around. So yeah, I probably like, if I were going to hedge my bat so I would say alpha Tori will probably outscore Alpine and final two races. But by 25 points, that's a really big swing. So I don't see it going that way. I don't think. Let's talk about Lance stroll next because he had a good result today coming back coming out P 6, codders, what was your opinion on his day and asked Martin's weekend as a whole? Well, a mixed weekend for Aston Martin, because just on that opening lap obviously Sebastian Vettel got pushed wide. I think by Bottas, it got very crowded into turn one and basically if you pick the outside line, this was bad choice because that's where everyone else went. Land stroll quietly impressive race, I fail. Cut from the clerk cloth actually. We've talked about Charles and irk having unobtrusively brilliant drives for the past few races. Lands did a good first lap. Got by Bottas, put himself into a position to score good points, then undercut science later, which I think we should register. Possibly helped by science not actually hearing his cute to pit on time. But also that then gained in position. So, although, you know, you didn't necessarily see him doing lots of rum bunches overtaking maneuvers when he did. He did it very well. There was quite a scary moment actually early on between him and sonoda and Bottas where if Lance had gone right instead of left, while overtaking sonoda, then, you know, they would still be picking up the pieces now. And fortunately, either he decided to go left or he saw a bot ass coming to the right and decided not to. So I think yeah, great, great, great racecraft throughout from Lance and I know I don't say it very often, but yeah, he will I'm sure he'll be featuring highly in our absent colleague Alex kalanick as driver ratings. Good shout out for those driver racing to make sure that you keep an eye out for them. Let's talk McLaren and Ferrari next. McLaren not really a good day for them. Two points for Lando and Daniel Ricardo really just pointing Dave way behind Lando despite the fact that, you know, he nurse had the puncture as well. I mean, what is this sudden or sudden as such downturn for, for the team league? I mean, at the start of the season we were so often singing their praises more so Lando's as Daniel was still getting to work with the car. But it seems that it's just sort of slipping away now. And like that battle between Alpine and alpha towery, the battle with Ferrari for third is sort of slipping away from them as well. Yeah, it does look that way now, and it's a shame because I think that was shaping up to be sort of the big, one of the big sort of constructors fights as we go into the final knockings of the season. But yeah, the gap is, wow. I just looked it up. It is, let me do some quick maths. 13 9 and a half points. That is a big old gap like McLaren sram bridge in these final two races. I think today it's not it's not really fit with the narrative of lately where far I've just been a decent step ahead of McLaren. I actually, today McLaren, I think they had a good sort of edge on Ferrari, Norris, yeah, he would have been top 5, had it not been for the puncture. And I think that would have been a good statement to make. Ricardo was struggling with a fuel issue than he basically had to say pretty much from lap one, I think he said. So that meant he couldn't really do much, and obviously he was yet sort of marooned out of the point basically. It also comes in a week when yeah Ferrari won as quick as I thought there would be after Friday, both science and the clerk were like, yeah, we're feeling pretty good this weekend actually looking at the comparisons with McLaren. That's our goal to beat them. And then qualifying came and we'll see the clerk had his chassis issue that meant he was pretty much pretty lost throughout the session and dropped that in Q two. And then in the race, yeah, I mean, science obviously had that add that up decent star had that fight with Norris as called has said yeah, missed his pick call because of a radio issue that meant that he got undercut by stroll. But yeah, I think Ferrari they're coming away so yeah, 7th and 8th, I don't think they can be particularly delighted with that performance, then they've been particularly good this weekend. But the fact that they've just pulled that little bit further away from McLaren because McLaren only came up with two points. I think that, yeah, they'll definitely take that. And I think that McLaren, yeah, I mean, it was all, I think, after I made the progress that debris me, I think it was always going to be tricky for them to be able to cling on to P three. But it is a weekend like this where you like, yeah, there was the chance there and okay, it's down to get a puncture. The ultimate you didn't sort of reduce that gap a little bit. But yeah, I think that again, that fight pretty much looks good, good is over. I think Ferrari, if they pull what another sort of 5 points clear in Jeddah, then it's settled when we get to Abu Dhabi, which would be a shame because it was a really good fight shaping up..

"So they've got the expertise. They've got the know how to make it count. And if Red Bull drops the ball a little bit then there'll be that profit. Obviously, on paper, yeah, it should suit Red Bull, but Mercedes has done it all before. So we'll have to wait and see. It's exciting though, isn't it? It's very exciting. I mean, we are literally getting down to the wire with this. And max is still so cool and calm and collected about it or even though, you know, everyone else is sort of saying, you know, it's really the momentum is really getting behind you and it's just so level headed about it, which does make it even more exciting. I am intrigued to see how the next few races unfold, as you said, Mercedes have done this, it's not the first time. But it's getting close. It's getting very, very close, and it's exciting for us. Let's move further down the field though. To Pierre gasly, who finished an excellent fourth, sort of a lonely race for him. I feel like we have this conversation about Pierre a lot. So we're not going to dwell on it too much, but once again, just solid and consistent and really there's nothing negative really to say about him, is he? He's just doing what he needs to do, but, you know, as we know the future wise, which I know is a controversial topic, some people are like, you know, keep them in Alfa tauri. That's why he's doing well. But a lot of people are saying his performance and his consistency warrants a better seat. What did you make of his weekend Jess will come to you fast? Yeah, I mean, it's kind of bad that we're just kind of getting used to Pierre gasly putting in these amazing performances, but not really having too much to show for it other than obviously a great point hall for alpha Tori, his teammate DNF aside. But on his side of the garage, it's looking it's looking great. I mean, the pace that he had today was incredible. You know, the Ferraris were saying they just couldn't get anywhere close to him. They even had Ferrari having team orders to see if science could eke out more pace out of him, but he just couldn't get anywhere near, I think, just under 7 seconds was as close as they could get in those final stages to him. So yeah, lonely, but very solid drive. And again, I guess it's the age old problem with Formula One, there are only sets, only so many seats. And so many, I guess premier tier seats available. He's tried it once in Red Bull. He didn't get on with it. So whether or not it would be a good place for him to go back to, probably not. You would argue. So for me, I think I heard Jenson Button saying this on the commentary as well. For me, the only thing that he can do is stay where he is and hope that with the new regulations, Alfa tauri gets even more competitive and he can kind of think about winning races with them, but he needs to get himself to a manufacturer, I think. But again, not too many positions available to him there, either. So is the age old problem that there's not enough seats in Formula One? There are enough teams in Formula One. They're under manufacturers in Formula One. So unless something is Formula One, a lot of crazy things happen. We've seen surprise and shock moves from people, I guess, you know, Daniel Ricciardo moving to Renault was a massive shock, no one really expected that. Could we see Pierre gasly Alpine? I'm not sure if that's a great move for him, but yeah, just it almost kind of there's nothing else for us to say, really. We know how great a driver he is. But he's not got much else to think about or go to. So just kind of one of those slightly sad, but also great that we're seeing him put in these performances and show what great driver he is, but yeah, there's not really many places for him to go to be really up there and in those challenging positions. And whilst we are on our tarry, let's quickly touch on Yuki because pretty rough day for him, of course, out in the first corner. And yesterday he had that little dressing down from Red Bull, shall we say? What were your thoughts on that JBL? You mentioned it briefly at the start of the podcast. What were your thoughts on yesterday and how Red Bull handled it? And who was in the wrong as such? I think generally yesterday, sonoda looked really, really good. He looked really good in practice and he looked like he was on top of everything this weekend. And it sort of, the form we've seen in the last few rounds, obviously is being sort of not quite driver coach by Alex album, but Alex Albon is providing support for him in that side of the garage. And he looks much better for it. It looks like he's sort of come out the other side of the difficulty she had earlier in the year and he just needs to sort of have an opportunity to build on that. And today could have been that, you know, he didn't have engine penalties and that kind of thing. And I think in qualifying yesterday in Q three, alpha towery has contended the cenote was aware of the situation. He had the Perez and for staff and behind him. And because he was got through to Q three because they felt that gasoline might need a toe. He was sort of done his bit and was just sort of trying to get off the track and I think Perez saw him ahead. Maybe sort of got a little bit distracted and had a little bit of a brain fade if you like and sort of followed him into that runoff area. And I don't think so notice to blame for that. I really don't. Whatever your sort of opinion on whether it should have been in Q three or not. I'll tell you how to express purpose for him being there. They got him through. He'd got through on merit. He was very, very quick. And he'd done his bit to help gasly out. And he couldn't really disappear off the track. So yeah, I think Red Bull has been very, very unfair on him. We know that Yuki is he's still in his first year he's made mistakes. He's learning, that's kind of what you do as a rookie. You should get a free pass and you first year to, you know, start the season off making a few mistakes. So you know where the limits are. But I think that sort of unfairly got him a reputation and it was very easy for rebel to kind of pin the tail on that particular donkey. And yeah, it was just unfortunate positioning at the time, I think. And then that first corner, it was just a mess. Because what it was him archon and Schumacher kind of three wide in that corner. Him and Schumacher kind of pins it on, or can't go out of it absolutely fine and I don't entirely know how. But Snyder and Schumacher were left by the wayside and that was it for them. And as I said, senator needs a weekend where he can take that form and build on it and get another really good result and he just didn't have that opportunity today because circumstances conspire against him. Jess, what did you make of the Red Bull cenote situation yesterday? We saw the Mercedes admin getting involved and, you know, sending him a motivational message on Twitter. But do you agree with JBL that he was not a fault there and, you know, Red Bull maybe shouldn't have been quite so firm in there was after. Yeah, absolutely..

"Well, there you have it. Thank you for that Alex. Now looking ahead to tomorrow, we will have the Red Bulls lining up behind the Mercedes drivers. We have that super long run up to town one. How do you think that the race star could unfold between the two teams? Well, I mean, we said this at Austin. We've always kind of proved to be correct. There were kind of fireworks there. Max was that for making a bad start on Hamilton getting by him on that one out the first corner. But yeah, this one definitely, again, we've seen so many occasions. There's been instance has been people cutting off going the grass earlier as Hamilton did that a couple of years ago. There's definitely there's definitely going to be something happening here because it's the longest rundown term one on the whole Formula One calendar and we know that there's going to be a slipstream effect, both Mercedes drivers were saying it's not quite as bad incidentally even though it's shorter at Sochi. It's not as bad as it is at such gene in terms of here at Mexico. So the slipstream the tow effect won't be as bad. They're still going to be there. So I think the Red Bull cars you can expect them to be swarming the Mercedes drivers. There's almonds that they're going to have to work as a team to keep the Red Bull's wine so be really interesting to see what he makes of that. And of course, team orders, there is the whole specter of team orders over everybody out to all the sounds of both those sets of drivers in a bot ass let's face it if he's if he leads the entire race of Hamilton behind him. He's going to have to give up that victory. It's a slam dunk decision for Mercedes. They've got to have hammer to win this race if they are running one and two. Same with Red Bull, Perez, if he does find himself ahead of Max Verstappen, he will have to give up that position. He's just good rating since there. But yeah, it's pretty hard to pass here in terms of if you don't have a massive sort of offset pace advantage, so I think I'm will need to go on the attack. We know he's not afraid to get aggressive get his elbows out. So yeah, I'm once again expecting term one fireworks. Oh, this season has given us a lot of lap one drama so far. And yeah, I'm not sure that it will hold back tomorrow, but we will see. But of course, the restart is just one thing. We then also have the remainder of the race and this is a trip that you can overtake at, taking into consideration the race pace that we have seen in the practice sessions. Who do you think has the upper hand for bringing home the win? Well, I sort of disagree on the overtaking here at Mexico. Plenty of teams speaking to them, of course the weekend pretty pessimistic about the chance of getting by other cars just because following is going to be very, very tricky. It's going to be a one stop race bit of time management. So it's not necessarily going to be as easy just because there's a long straight. That said, if they find each other close together, the DRS effect is going to kick in. In terms of what we've seen the practice sessions on the long runs did a little add a slight edge, but then Red Bull Mercedes diverged on the tires they used in fp two Red Bull on the mediums, Mercedes were on the hard, so you know, not a like comparison, but Mercedes definitely was right there. The edge that rebel did have was so small that it would make it hard to get by, you know, okay, they have an edge, but even Mercedes are still ahead after the end of lap one. It's going to be a one stopper because the long pit lane time loss. So, you know, strategy decisions are going to be are going to be pretty similar. You would expect looking at it on paper. But what is interesting is that it's unseasonably hot in Mexico for this time of year and that could yet boost Red Bull it has done better in the hot conditions or the races we've seen so far this year. So still hope for Red Bull. Plus the fact that could well be a race of attrition, speaking to Dave Robson at Williams, he was there pointing out the fact that the brakes, the engines, they're going to struggle to stay cool. So come the end of the race, we could well see many cars dropping out or at least a few. That's where we sort of suggesting. So maybe that will impact in the battle at the front, who knows? Yeah, the conditions at this track that the weather, the altitude, et cetera, of course, that is going to play a part this weekend. We've heard lots of the teams discussing the effect of the altitude, as you said, the chances of some cars not making it to the end. So definitely worth keeping an eye on all of the drivers throughout the field because of that. Now moving further down the top ten let's talk about our fertility for a moment. We've already touched on Yuki nada in quite a lot of detail, but Pierre Gauss Lee was really, really fast today. What did you make of his performance in particular? Yeah. I mean, I think I've made it fairly clear but I think it was driving at the end of Q three and I had to say I think that undid all his good work to get there, not really much more to say on him. It's unfortunate, but yeah, I just don't understand why you didn't follow gasoline, but anyway, on gas Lee, once again, absolutely excelling. Is interesting speaking to him in the press conference on Thursday because the Tom Clarkson and the press conference was pointing out that he's on the same number of points or I think actually just one less point than he was. Then he ended up with at the end of the season last year or same number of races in 2021. And gaslit he sort of made the point of all, you know, this is why you can't you can't believe statistics because that year I had a race win and things like that. But I think actually if you flip it around, it shows you just what a good job he's doing. You know, he's the same number of races. He hasn't had that race win, which let's face it was very, very lucky. There is no way he should have won that race if he was Hamilton hadn't made the mistake at Monza in terms of coming in when the pit lane was closed. So it just shows you he's driving better and he agrees with that, you know, I asked him how do you feel like you're driving better? He said, yeah, well I feel certainly more consistent and more complete driver and it's showing up in his results. Yeah, we've said it so many times before on this podcast that Pierre is really, really showing his wife in that alpha Tori and being a fantastic lead for the team and helping them move forward. Of course, here's teammate Yuki is one of several drivers taking a penalty tomorrow. We're actually going to see a lot of drivers are trying to make their way through the pack and as a result that, of course, bumps up certain drivers as well opening up opportunities for them. How much of an impact do you think that these penalties will have on how the race plays out tomorrow? I don't think it makes a huge amount of difference of them the alpines or certainly Fernando Alonso, rather, get let off the hook for their messy session with Alonso knocked out in Q one, not really nailing his lap or definitely not nailing his lap when it mattered although kosaku was still on the last row with his engine penalty. What will be interesting? Again, actually, it's come back to him at least in Steve, slowly can redeem himself, given the fact that the Honda engineer will go well here. But the other thing to really keep an eye in terms of the guys at the back of the grid is landowners, as I mentioned, he's another one with an engine penalty. Can he get out the order to try and help his teammate Danny Ricardo save points in that battle versus Ferrari? It was interesting Daniel Carr did very well to split the Ferraris, which have been going very, very well throughout practice in terms of their pace in qualifying although charms of glass of held up his hand.

"Can make a quick driver slow down and stop crashing, but you can't really make a slow driver. You know, any faster. So I think he's got that speed. I really rate him, I think he's the best Japanese driver we've seen for many a year, potentially could even be the best we've ever seen. I think Red Bull obviously the sort of let's say the title engine partnership is going away, but I think obviously it's going to be there in spirit and I think he's going to be a big part of that Red Bull family going going forward. I'm really impressed with him. He's just got to keep the car out of the wall. So as long as he can balance balance the finishes that's the finishes and the speed with keeping the car out of the wall. I think he's got a really big future. I'm a fan of his. Yeah, I'm beginning to wonder what you were talking about with the partnership. You know, with Honda and Honda leaving. Now that they're doing so well, you know, wondering if, you know, if they're thinking to themselves, wow, maybe we shouldn't have decided to leave Formula One now because they're on the verge of winning constructors championship with Red Bull. You know, they're very close to doing it. It can be done. But yeah, I mean, you can know that I think he's a massive potential. There are a lot of people feel like you're gazing may have another shot on the main Red Bull team at some point. But, you know, don't doubt Sunoco. That Yuki out of that pen tension as well. Let's actually pick up on that point. The Pierre gasly and Red Bull point because he's said recently that you know he feels that he does deserve another shot at the C and I think there is absolutely no denying that he has been on an incredible incredible form. This season. And it's really showing up consistently putting in those solid solid performances. Do you think that he should get another shot in that Red Bull C and also do you think that it would be wise for him to have another shot? Because I know there are some people who think that actually he is excelling because he is in an environment that works for him. He is able to, you know, he's been able to find his own footing within the alpha charity team without the pressures that you have from being in those top top teams such as Red Bull. What are your thoughts on it? Seth, you go first. The thing is, I think, with any teammate that's going to come alongside Max Verstappen just like any teammate that comes alongside Lewis Hamilton is going to have to deal with understanding that you're going to have to be patient. You're going to have to wait for your time. You know, you're going to have to wait because these star drivers have moved the team and their favorite move that shifted that garage into their favor to where you're going to have to just wait, you know, and wait for those opportunities to come along now. You can of course you can fight for that. And that's what you do when you get on team and you have a star superstar driver. You want to fight to try to get that momentum to swing to your side of the garage. You know, so and I think Pierre gasly can do that. You know, I think he can he can get in there and take the fight to match, just like Sergio. I mean, we're waiting for that. I'm waiting for that at some point. I'm waiting for Sergio if you can surgery earn that. He'd have such an impressive record. He can deliver when you need him to. It's like a no brainer that he should not be fighting max in this championship battle as well. Valtteri should be fighting for a championship. Well, you know, Perez, you know, Sergio should be fighting for one as well. I'd look at it as to what went wrong last time. Was it just a mental thing? Was it that he couldn't drive, you know, the direction of the car in terms of setup? Was it just that max steamrolled him, which, you know, Seth makes a very good point. Max has put a lot of effort just like Lewis has into making that team revolve around him. So, you know, all the focus is on one side of the garage and not on the other. Maybe we saw it again today. The reason, you know, max had a drink system throughout the race and we saw there was a panic before the race. Check O didn't. So suddenly, you know, so much focus gets put on one side of the garage, but that sort of, you know, they deciding point for that. Only happens on performance, performance, whether it's mental, whether it's physical, whether it's car setup, simulator, all these vast parameters that go into Formula One. And I go back to saying well, what went wrong? Pierre had the chance he had those races and he really, really sucked, compared to max, you know, he just didn't perform. I know he can perform because I've seen him perform. And I know that he could do it in a fast car as well as a midfield car like an alpha Tori. So what went wrong? Deconstruct that, you know, maybe has to go and see a mental coach or something like that. And then come back, you know, stronger, a stronger driver. And I think he can do that as we say, maybe that chance will never come around, you know, maybe that was his one and only shot, you know,.

"Tom. The alpine's had a very disappointing rice weekend last time. Out with alonzo in basic scene and alcon p. and it's at least one point but is one point and they our team who seems to be to you know all over the place when it comes to wherever they're going gonna finish the phone book. So how the question but you know. Where do you see them being this weekend. If it's even possible to predict it's the most unpredictable team on the grid without shadow of a doubt. You don't know if they're going to be fighting podium or all day knocked out and key. What i think that the championship position slightly inflated. They're not as fast as africa. Ori they offer some nasty martin but again similar to the rebel. There are a little bit peaky. their position is inflated. By the fact they have got that win for i about knock on and alonzo is still ahead of him in the championship. So that tells you a story as well but yeah. It's very very difficult. Think based on what we've seen before from them. I think they'll be in the mix they'll probably be in the mix with the alpha tores. Yeah obviously nowhere. Near the ferraris and mclaren's i haven't seen whether report for the weekend they do tend to look like they go better in bad conditions until lonzo choice to do something around the outside one. But it's is. I think the the drivers seemed to be. I mean not so much. October alonzo seems to be coming on. Now he's definitely back to his best and and trying to trying to push for trying to get that that first podium in five years or whatever it is now so he's obviously going to be wanna be joined to do that but i don't think this is going to be the truck for them. I think they'll be close. But i think it's going to take some more strange conditions than to be fighting for a podium. The fight for them now to try and maintain that that fifth place in the championship which they could do. Twelve points is not massive points for alfa tori to to fight back. But it's i think they've got a chance of holding on against against salvatore. I think the overall package for alpha tori is better but you look at their second driver and you think that maybe that's that's not going to work but so overall alpine looking again just unbelievably unpredictable. Really so very difficult to save certain where they're gonna be absolutely very unpredictable on. You know it will help. If the driver doesn't keep gang five second time penalties for spinning around the cause. An only spinning anyway.

"That's why they are in that kind of realm Mostly Guiseley is done all the work all year and they have a good gap in front of aston. Martin it takes the fact. That lynch stroll likes to run into his own teammate. And stuff and act like he doesn't have mirrors to go and take them both out of points and then alpha tori doesn't lose anything in that spot but they had no pace of gaz lease gonna wanna forget this weekend. Sonoda's rookie year is a rookie year. And it's been very difficult for him But know you could be the second driver in an alfa romeo or you could be. Latifi could be the putin oscar so In that sense Throwaway for alpha tori unfortunate especially with some of the stuff that happened him. Getting dumped by strolled in but They need their like sonoda dropped. I don't know seven positions at the start. Him and mick had absolute nightmare starts. And i'm like what is this. You have a really good car. Yuki you should at least be flirting with a top ten back into the top ten like in that next. I can the third tier of the field and it always seems like he's always in the back Battling for life there and it's not it's not promising but we will see what happens as the rest of the season goes by. Yep he will leave only get experience but he's got some whites. It always is really not sure what consistency. It's all a positive from sober fat. At least this week had the cautiously genuinely off the pace guys do better than it was. Only ghazi was only one place ahead of etfs noted during qualifying so fair enough rarely just about week him for the. I'm a full team. Fleiss today was esteban alcon jared. I'm quite disappointed with really. I thought he would have done well today. Amini especially by comparison alonzo light limited from tacitly. Well today alcon started the top ten bit could make it work up finishing downing Dates forget Yet data forget and he was up in the top ten to during the second steamed. I think it was just the wet weather that quarter mad at the end of the diane opportunities for alpine to school points with both 'cause unfortunately didn't happen Other than that not much really report about all kinds rice. He's had We said before like he's had these faced famine style awakens way he will have an excellent result like he didn't hungary with a win. But then there's other weekends where he just is not there at all. Oh you'll be. They're all flying in just doesn't have a good rice are You know the the the alonzo result Hides the fact that Content score points. But it's still not good good..

"Pasta. Look quite baba twice a year. I did that happen before or after he collided with his teammate. After after that might be why it got such a good run on so overall not very good diane yet finance which is a shame because the star he was running full and he looked set for ridicule result. Then paying early has kind of undone his race completely. I'm they went. Just for the undercuts is. It's quite powerful. And they may be looking at to stop. Maybe they were suffering with graining like the ferraris were but in the end. It wasn't the right decision and it. Put them on a collision coast with each other in the end. Yeah the eleventh place which could have become a a tenth place still could for for sebastian but for as long as it could have become a tenth place depending on what penalty landau gets. It takes them completely out of the reckoning now if he'd been further up the wet conditions or conditions he thrived. So he's kind of lost out w there absolutely i. I think that will finish a lot down. So i don't think he's going to be able to jump anybody ahead of in one stroll was gun the lead lap so ten second penalty athena's If llandough gets apparently. I called c norris game which more than ten second penalty. I'll be i also don't recall. They have often in before a penalty being applied post race for this before. So we'll see what the stewards dates him and the very badly infested when he could have easily been a very good one. If not in the rose dump show whip something up. No what was it does not overrule. We'll make it up. That's what we do so closer rising in this one disqualification in have become a joke about the. If it doesn't get any points to say i'll be fuming he did so well to the really date keepsake true of. It seemed the dismal week. And this this weekend was alpha. Tower fell piano gaselee at least has been able to drive that car into the points in a regular basis but he was no wednesday obviously wasn't held by stroz. Collision mcveigh but still. It wasn't really frightening. Points eight finish thirteenth looking for so many. Uk snowed even worse. He was down in seventeenth. Only maza behind him the alpha tori team. This was definitely a throwaway of weekend for sure. Gaz ghastly usually as a top ten contender. But they didn't have any pace sonoda. I mean just because we were basically like a underground george russell fan club. Here on the grid talk podcast. The fact of the matter is george russell's only two points behind yuki sonoda of in the drivers championship and he basically is only scored three races. A for you know like he's only been scoring points for like a month That's not good and it's not a good look for them. I would assume that turkey will be more their speed. that's why they are the alpha tori..

"How much of an impact do you think that will have for the teams in tom's of that preparation on the driver's because that's quite a full-on day and quite shakeup. The usual proceedings. How'd you think that that will go down. Which is a good thing. It's not the sprint qualifying. The sprint this weekend isn't it because that would certainly cut down their options. It will be a busy day but it's been done before in years past looking into the very very dim and distant past where every even in short trousers. They used to be sunday morning. Warm up the cosworth run operationally. They can do it. And there's there's also historic precedent. We've had a couple of japanese grand prix. Qualifying has had to take place on a sunday morning. So it's been done. They can't do it. Obviously the challenge there is if it still wet on sunday than you. Many kicking the football down the rights i. It's they will have to take a view tomorrow based on what. The weather forecast is shaping up but yeah if it's too wet to run than the risk of states in the obvious it's too wet to run so they'll have to just give it a mess and the the the various tv channels that carry one coverage. We'll have to fill time and the commentators will earn that coin as a commentator on precisely nothing. hopefully they've got some good jokes in the tank and get you on board cogez now new material required signing the down the pacwest walkabouts mclaren furry off to obviously mccower coming into this weekend of tobacco back of the incredible incredible win in monza. Today we saw danu quite formula annual f. p. one i think it was fourteenth and then he missed the opening thaad style of f. b. too because they wanted to change his he you i think it was. They detected some sort of problem and so they had to change him to when he'd been running previously on. They wanted to investigate that later. In the day when the fully get out for call within slander. Norris also this was in one. Raba clipping the woolworth entry. That was quite a strange moment. How'd you think they are going to fare over this weekend. They already said like. Don't expect another win. United compete understandable. I mean it was. It happened by dining sunny thinking that they've found that car around. They've set the epsom flyers. How do you think that that call will fat. If this weekend given the characteristics of the call the characteristics of the track and what we did see from practice sessions today. Hopefully they should be okay. They will be benefiting from the absence. At least to begin with of charles leclerc. he'll be starting from the backers get onto in a bit side. That's one ferrari out of out of the mix for now. The question then will be how they fare against alpha tori and possibly alpine we. We did mention. The fernando alonzo was fastest of all through sector three today if alpine magically string that together than they can be very quick. It's it's very difficult to judge. Between these midfield teams because characteristics are so different so see with alpine a huge difference between qualifying and race pace and sometimes not stringing a full lap together alpha tori. Sometimes they right there. Sometimes they had no way is quite bizarre so was fg ashley's lap today. Something that he. He just plucked times. No nowhere on soft tyres or does that. Show a strong underlying pace. It's quite tricky to judge the mclaren. It's it was good at. Monza is quick in a straight line and that could be an advantage around sachi where you have this fairly long drag round to turn but then you have a lot of sort of medium fast corners on wates quite an unpleasantly low grip surface. That is also not very abrasive. Either so it makes it difficult for the cops put heat through its tires so i imagine that they're not they're not going to be expecting a repeat of the wind. They'll just hype to keep ongoing. Unfortunately daniel's engine is apparently fixable the eu you. They took out of the car today. It's fixable so he's not going to need to do a bring a new engine into the pool just yet and they will need to Rather like the mercedes and red bull situation benefit from ferrari having at one car the back of the grid. Let's move onto ferrari now because as we said a couple of times charlotte class in the back because he is bringing the new power unit developments. That ferrari have been walking on tool just been more about those developments that he will be taking on why they have brought him in now and what we can expect from them. Are we expecting to see big changes or is this more of a trialing them out into the next year. Twenty twenty two chinas to see weapons land in that sense. Yeah it's it's it's more the latter than the former. I'm afraid the the actual power game from this veisaite some of that that. There's a heavy caveat there they say it's only worth something in the order of ten break host power. This is essentially an upgrade to various bits of the hybrid system. But as you say this this is opening up a potential new development direction for next year so that basically trawling some sort of technical philosophy within the hybrid system which they if it's successful and reliable on that is that is the case they want to know if it's reliable. They hope to be able to scale that up to introduce next year and yield a fabric more power from that well as he said. I think it's going to be a very clear when it comes to the midfield teams as it has been throughout the season But with shell and max starting father back. I'm hoping we'll have quite an exciting race. Come sunday but before we wrap things up. I wanted to get your predictions full qualifying tomorrow. Today while hyper smart predictions on who you think will grab pole and anyone else that you think might have a standup woman's father down. Pack faced off of what he saw today timing wise. You'd be daft not to pick veltri. Batas for paul. But let's not rule lewis out so i we. We can be safe in assuming a mercedes front rive here. I'm sitting on the fence. Rather likes sean todd and his stating the obvious earlier this week all the all these opinions did not at all controversial. The next question. Mark is sergio perez. Really be able to discover some qualifying form from tonight. Maybe not so much. I think we might just be able to see something from set. Vattel and pierre gas leak there in the mix too deep pretty well call a science definitely needs to qualify while because he's holding the fought against mclaren from that. It's very tricky. We're looking at the back end of the top ten. Now maybe ricard. I might be able to pull something else out It all depends on what it's like if qualifying actually happens tomorrow and it's wet. We might be in for massive surprise. We might see another george russell sort of front right performance because he has proved he's pretty strong in if he conditions and that's when all bets are off we could have a very very mixed up grid. What was it from. Sebastian measures that you saw in today's timings that makes you put him up that for a good showing a thought he was fast straight out the box on the soft tyres. The just just the f. Pay one results he was. He was fifth fastest. Which which was pretty impressive to me. Dropped off a little bit to all the back end of f. p. to the tricky to tell whether they're actually pushing that hard for the qualifying similar not it looked like they were targeting Race pace a little bit more than than qualifying pace. But i think he. He seems to have turned his season around a little bit and he's found a little bit more confidence in that car. So we're seeing a little. Bit more of the old sebastian. We might seek it before semester. Monarch on here's fast enough p two as well so picking po position from friday practice times. There's a little bit of a monk's guy usually you would look at what people done. Nfp three but they'll all be altering round with umbrellas in the lie not doing much enforcing the sky. Commentators.

"Anthem. Six thirty should make. He's telling you it's a kid. Mickey struck moment. Well it's an italian surname. So maybe he wasn't attendance. Rule that out completely can you. It's a possibility. It was a little bit nervous about the party. Machine as well that daniel ricotta munza podium experience. I suppose only. I guess attendance. Maybe not even not judging by the pictures. And i thought a little bit of lack of enthusiasm you know why i did not expect oh really. I actually thought it was authority bat. Last year's victory with gasoline to talk about the premiership hangover for alphabet right sits in 'esprit imagine being bold of sprint rice and the growing parade itself. Would've what appea- for barry over the weekend. But i actually felt more sorry for a pa gasoline last year. Knowing what monza is typically like in terms of welcoming rice we winner to have pretty much premiums now on their pop from fringe. Well wishes from alpha tori alpha tower last year. Actually pretty happy. Like at least dan got something you lacivita overcrowded and he had the philharmonic orchestra happy birthday or whatever the theme song underneath the podium but at least there was a crowd psych up the atmosphere. But yeah it's yeah. At least at least it was credited performed to. It's all right. I think you'll joy. I think we'll take a one way or the other but It was a good rice. Vm nor any for winning but really just overall and. i know there'll be some temptation for some people to assume that given the crash with the is that this was somehow fortunate. We were lucky weeden. It really wasn't. i mean. He had staff and combat obviously the first corner and then through the first and red bull. Racing's pitstop was very slow and that led to the crash later on but even with regular speed pitstop staff in my not. Well have come out ahead of riccardo. It's hard to say definitively of course but the times we're close maclaren played the strategy really well and ricardo's out lap was very good in the second stint and then of course he would have had to spend the rice defending against for staff and but he obviously managed it in the first student as we saw after the safety car had really great pace on those ties in fact the foss slap on the final lap of the rice. I clearly knew how to manage them. This was a really complete performance. From recount are the best. We've seen for a long time from him. Refreshing as well it was just restrict but it was always on the pessimistic meal every pessimistic. Sherline galkayo. well he's he's qualified. Well he's done. I expect price. But you know what's really going to happen in the fluffed decide something but nari. He did everything he needed to do. Bicycling and then some so. There's a little bit of The shackles are off in the sense that have been fighting for world championship Sort of at the very front yeah. They're battling ferrari for third place by really who cares. But but that was the focus for mclaren was just. What did he do. Don't care who finishes what just finished ahead of ferrari. Because that's that's how battle at the moment so oversee ricotta. Getting the perfect start. It was grope raise pretty much for ricardo was one and could be one in lost into turn one knave verstappen go ahead. Obviously verstappen rump sawai. Then you got pressure from. Gaza landed behind and the other drive is as well that that could have completely changed the complexion of if the rice but ricardo slink away. Because that wasn't the case he sort of became a little bit of a train where the shepherd just couldn't pass him it one goddess highs. Maybe one point five seconds at one point and then you know obviously below that one second markers well for mexico deo arrests to limited effect which by the way actually didn't mind that despite the lack of gratuitous overtaking that way so used to it was actually the quality of the. Rv was actually pretty good. That didn't trouble me too much. I was actually pretty satisfied. Is that was that was the you don't wanna say position swapping back and forth back and forth back and forth into turn one when it doesn't really mean anything so so that was good but i remember thinking back to ricardo's within twenty monetary where. I think if you could do if you could win. That rice with the pressure was. I'm still having hop hepatic thinking about that rice. So if he could do that then surely he can do monitoring there were concerning moments. Where like geez batas on the mating was was going pretty quick as well and hamilton was catching up at a right of knots as well and it was always the case of our well. If if it wants. Max eventually gets him. You just gotta hold on these guaranteed position on the podium which we all would have been happy and content with but we certainly go more than we bogged into a superb deal. When i asked him they give you the lodge chips. Instead of the media it was maybe even better than that. It'd be incredible. Result really very struggled daniel ricardo but also very strong from client. Of course this was not only daniels tweeden since monaco. Twenty as you mentioned mclaren's first we've seen the twenty twelve brazilian grand prix with jenson button. I think it was and the first one to since twenty tents in canada. I think presumably one lewis. Hamilton ferrari ask as a winning draft. Might be made. But it's a long time. You just need to remember sometimes mclaren's being out of this guy for a very long time you do forget. I did have to sort of check the check. The one sets to make sure that was the case. Because i you know. I don't recall them. Waiting in the table hybrid. So you guys haven't won scenes. Jason twenty fourteen. You that first. They were with mercedes then famously. Jp to engine after that. So and so did my brian than go. So you're telling me. The last time mclaren enjoyed success lewis. Hamilton was wearing a parolee cowboy. Pass we'll to his name. That's that goes to. Shaw have have far back in time. It was that mclaren loss tyson victory. Yeah there's been some podiums in between but you know a rice win littler one two for nearly a decade. So that's a that's a frightening stat goes to show. How how how bad gosh. And hopefully it's not a williams flash in the pan at least the causing catherine that famous spanish rice in two thousand twelve the the the tin foil hats rice that all of them all. That's commentator likes the point out but yeah just satisfying and we talked about this the other week with williams and george russell which i want to get back onto those onto that little lighter obvious reason is just that wide of their shoulders and they can say what happens when when when they put in this collective effort and it's good for everyone in the same but i tell you what anyone that really needed a result like that was was imagine. Imagine if it was the other way. Random landay norris. One that rice the regatta would have been sort of it would have that would have hated him up inside quad quite a bit more. But i think everyone you know despite not winning that rice. I think he can be pretty happy with that result because he could also have argued he could have just as easily have won that rice. So you both winners is the moment of the story giving giving norris genuinely thought in fact i think he might. Steve genuinely think would have liked to have on the rice wrong. But i thought it was really interesting. How fleas norris was after the race. And i know that does speak to the fact that they got the maximum results and he was under a lot of pressure in that race as well as there was a little bit of relief. I guess to manage to hold back the fast kind stuff but it was interesting and i think it speaks to how genuine he was when earlier in the sign that long term deal with.

"You broke night. Some point you know getting stuck in in keenum has been an issue for off Philip yuki snow. Just not always that always getting the moist office More often than not. I'll tell you rely on piano lead to you. Know get them. The points get those high positions eights and other days. It's more important than ever. That sonoda actually maybe find his grief gets out with key one now. She puts his contention for points for yuki to perform there he. It would be a good opportunity for him to show up because he's been wildly inconsistent this year as a rookie wile ghastly for Purposes has done a very good job this year even though he theoretically got passed over again to get promoted in the end for alpha tori though it is they they have their. There's races where they do qualify. At least with gaz lease usually up there make skew to no problem generally in q. Three sonoda you just don't know what you're gonna get He's the current day. Takumi sato for reason. This tracksuit him very very well and he could go off. He could make three appearance. I think it has some similar kind of kind of feelings to imola. So he's had plenty of time at imola testing. Maybe take some of that experience. He's able to put that together but they do need him to perform in the sense of you know not only did the drivers but in the constructors because with alpine you have okon. Who's very very motivated in in happy. After his first grand prix win. You have alonzo fully invested looking forward towards next year and very well They need both drivers performing in. I mean in the case of guiseley. That's been the case most of the year if sonoda can put one together though this might be hype attract that he would be able to put one together and possibly help in regards to try to close that gap to alpine. But it will be as we said. And you've said loonier in mikhail's well. I think a lot of this will be dictated on saturday to see what comes from sunday itself..

"He's going to get the pace run at gets the extra furlong as well I think whitmore wins the forego tomorrow at four to one on the morning line. Let's jump ahead to race eleven tomorrow at saratoga sword dancer or going into the turf. It's a long one on the turf a mile and a half on the inner turf. Five twenty five post time field of seven going post word we liked the to in this one kristof clermont trains rosario aboard three to one on the morning line. That is gustavo the chew a pretty good field. Chad brown's got two entries in the race. Eight o'brien has got a horse coming over from europe and japan. Ridden by ryan more. But i like the to goof. Oh dario clement. Clermont three to one on the morning line and my last pick tomorrow. How do you not make a selection the travers. Now here's what i'll tell you this. Everybody in the you better you bet. Audience is this. The the the favorite is essential quality. Four to five and he's a deserved for five favorites right. He was the favorite in the kentucky. Derby he's the best three-year-old in america. However it's a of quarter on the dirt. I'm going to try and beat them so tread lightly in this one i'm dabbling with dynamic one the four iran ortiz. Todd pletcher six to one on the morning line loved his prep race. Coming into the travers up. There at saratoga really ran very very well. So the four dynamic one race twelve tomorrow in the traverse most with a ton of great saratoga affects as have been winners when he's given them out recently on you better you bet so. Good stuff there from mark moluccas. We go from horse racing to motor sports. Because of course we do. Rick ampere is some formula one place for the weekend and belgium being in belgium. First time after the break no big news on the second mercedes car for next year. That's To be determined in september two. That's for this race. I like the in the pre-qualifying but you can bet. The whoever qualifies second to win is plus two fifty. I like that because veltri botas the second car right now for mercedes at a very good day one a practice. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets. The poll and verstappen did better for sapin of red bull. Did a lot better today than lewis hamilton. So i wouldn't be shocked if either. Vote us or verstappen end up getting the pole position and apparently this is a track. Where passing is a little bit easier than some of the others so lewis. Hamilton ends up in second or even third especially if both houses and front you're going to get the opportunity to pass for stap in an just for the sake of the team get the allowing hamilton to pass. So he gets the win for himself and for the sake of points then the other one i have is the first car to retire so the first car out of the race. Yuki sonoda of alpha tori plus nine hundred because this is a track. That's going to be what it seems like. There's going to be weather in the area there. Some blind some blind spots on the track because of elevation changes so a guy who's generally been a little more erratic is someone who is ninety seconds left. That's going to have some issues. And i think that's yuki sonoda going against the my my my favorite japanese. You don't like that rick but like like they got very much of the second to win these with the potentially being lewis. Hamilton's formula one picks for you this weekend in belgium a couple college. Football league zero picks. We've covered this kind of a lot on this show over the course of the week this week here i know..

We'll romp and jason kelly so we are back everyone from summer break heading into a classic f one race i would say in in spa is what we have there but before we get to the track walk some nears not a whole lot going on. I think we kind of expected some driver announcements in the in the summer break. I'm not sure i did Because it is such a weird like we've gone over this before it's weird contract environment like so. Many teams in this last cycle went to longer term contracts That like we don't have enough interesting seats open for a really engaging silly season and it seems very clear that like mercedes being bounded determined not to say what their intent is for the end of the season Which makes sense especially if you're in the middle of the sort of Title shootout But yeah it's like. It is game musical chairs where a bunch of the seats are just filled by people who are not moving and so it does. It does seem like there's a lot of Waiting and seeing around the few seats that are available. I was expecting there might be a little bit more of like some some hand. Tipping about what teams are planning in. The closest we came was France tossed since sunny really weird note around the alpha tori lineup He's team principal. Right yeah and we're dude. He's a weird dude. He is in a lot of ways. He's an iconic team principal. The only thing he cares about is running his team and racing You know and what he has said is basically that while they're not making official to the alpha tori lineup is standing pat after the season. He doesn't see any alternatives to it. Part of it is. They are very committed to sonoda despite the rough season he's had and pir gaz. Lee has had an extraordinary season It's it's like difficult to say that he doesn't deserve to keep the seat at this point. You know it's difficult say doesn't deserve better seat But nevertheless it was very funny hearing tossed sort of not quite competent squelching rumors that might make a change at alpha tari but basically saying they're kind of stock and he also didn't sound particularly confident. Note for yuki said I hope we'll be. I hope it will also be next year. V with pierre and yuki Because for ukiah will be the second season the tracks But now you must not forget. We will go into the second half of the season where you. He doesn't even know the racetracks the feeling that the lower the development circuits. They competed in. Don't have like american legs of of the championship so alarmingly we have seen soon. Ota on what is closest to his home turf In terms of of tracks And from after the european leg winds up it's going to be all new circuits and toss does not sound like he's striking confident note. Do you think he's also maybe tempering expectations like hey you. He doesn't even know these. We expect even more spins and qualifying. Whatever that you know that could welby and certainly it is. I think you had a lot of snow. Had a lot of hype coming into the season. And i'm not sure that servewell either because ultimately is having a pretty normal rookie season but against expectations. It looks really bad. Yeah also it's gotta be a bummer. If you're a red bull driver and hearing him say like we don't really see anybody else but speaking of the future japan where the future lives in the present is Not going to be a racetrack that we race at this year The japanese grand prix has been cancelled due dacoven concerns in the wake of philly olympics. And so we don't know yet what is going to be filling in. There is some speculation that maybe we'll do a second race in bahrain which office out of sport points out if they join. Saudi arabia abu dhabi. That would mean four events in the middle east in the last part of the season but qatar is also one of the new events on standby mode. Gp races there but that so that's up in the air. I think austin was also held up as one possibility but again cova wise austin is not doing too hot so probably not there we shall see and a couple of updates from teams on i guess part size regulation side aston martin if you recall before we went to break Spectrum federal got a second place and then had it stripped from him because that team did not hold up their end of the regulation which says that one liter fuel must be left in your car for inspection. The i was not able to extract when leader fuel from the car and so they Disqualified special pedal from the race asked. Martin said well wait a minute would there. There has to be one liter fuel in there. We just know it so here. Here's our car taken apart. See if you can find it. They did not rob what what happened here. Well so the thing that asked martin claims is that so what they're telemetry told them. They can guess pretty accurately how much fuel burned off during a race by that math Which should check out. They should have had comfortably more than enough than was required for the for for the sample The issue was they believed that. Yeah with the with a broken fuel pump on board the car that it was stuck somewhere inside the car and it just wasn't in the tank where the f. i was trying to access it. However as they've done further inspection on the car. It appears is growing Martin there was a fuel leak as part of the failures within the fuel system and so yes there should have been more fuel in the car but it probably leaked out Over the course of that race and craig craig scarborough who does a lot of f one tech analysis. I think he may have worked for a team at one point in the past but he his twitter accounts created as a lot of like annotating pictures of the pits in technical drawings and stuff he says on twitter here. It's not commonly known but when fuel tanks are lightly pressurized an air pump inside the tank prevents cavitational inside the lift pumps. It seems a leak inside the aston's tank. Apparently from the pressure relief valve allowed fuel to escape thus leaving less than one leader behind. Yeah i'm.

"Back in the last. Six kostas with manscaping greeks on the roof. Couple of other storylines to keep an eye out for this week is where the veltri batas has been checking his emails because we know the toto wolff always a fan of email festival but second of all. He said he was making the decision on the mercedes lineup for next year during the summer break. It's over now. It's pretty much you hearing this summer. Rex finished get back to work. Which means the presumably veltri bought should know what he's doing next year. Exactly the not the vaclav pavlov. That's the one aval of effect where the dean on your sort of mile provider of all you. What's that nothing take. Every told me. He walked up dig. I'm like now i'm on. Leave north and then turbulence line he didn't even realize you opened it and use chain so it scholley short veltri. What all well and good inside that he will melt the openings emails but he didn't say he'll be subconsciously easy the subtle difference so that one valkyrie dime thank you may fold maybe recording under a state but i i'm hopeful valerie. I mean you're in luck. That's the that's ingenious really. It's very interposing i. I'm i going delirious he needed. He's sorry haunts. Carbon monoxide poisoning hugo. Look that's you've got to commit podcast. A formula andrei the white community hardware absolute ladies elsewhere in the drive of market. So here got that more. Presumably we know the red bull racing certainly inching towards keeping. Its same drivers. Maybe they'll shuffle them but seemed unlikely. Daniel ricardo talked about his future schools. Had a very off the who knows how he's going to go but he says he wants to capitalize on mclaren's expected return to form in title form in fact in twenty twenty four so he's very minds along in the first two years off of the new The all new regulations for mclaren although it was twenty twenty three. So maybe he's thinking get priority championship in twenty three and then it'll be ricardo's towed in twenty four Maybe yes maybe. He's accepted the. He'll be the second champion but still means he's planning for the teams that win at least two championships which i'm sure they'd be very happy to hear and will presumably resign him for twenty twenty four. If that's the wants to get it done it. Contract does twenty twenty three. You're right so it's a very very long term plan for him. But i look if he can pull it off. That's cry if he wins the championship but some point. That's very good I wanna talk briefly about alpine because no one talks about him enough. Well actually that were lemond this weekend. You know why they were drew. Is i literally competing but also the the was just having a crack which was one of those weird things where you see. It's interbay yeah ourika. Didn't look at a place did it. Wasn't there there. They're looked absolutely brilliant. Through manuel enough the bridge. That's says donald wherever that section was a quite impressionable and truly this'll be a real day risk on a track as as grand through. Somebody told me the dila south longest. That's a racing wanka that's That's how you call it. The great grand juries most pool exactly especially driving my car which dunno it looks exactly like a port. What's a rough. I've i've never on this. I seem to as one of those jack newhouse situations. But i don't know that that's i. I want to grow up driving a rough rough hostess. Live my better. Do you blade rough. And this is your house. The the brand view alpine says. It's being talking to teams. In if one the donetti exists about supplying them with pow units but it also says that it's not important that dozens of you in it doesn't matter that they only supplying one team themselves with pal units bought. I leaving the door open if anyone was to suddenly appear the could be the supply. I don't think it's best. If you were sane you launch yourself with alpacas lord nice. I have a poor old alpina. I have just washed bank selected for various contact sports. When i was in When i was in school with Being one of the last two. Pick any because i had two legs was the us and then Yeah so alpine if The the the the renner evolved the sort of those people have gone out to bid or writing And yet yeah. I'm surprised that you logs. If williams in evan salva of they've committed to ferrari obviously through the academy and Williams of solid on this all the way from that one so surely would be in. They got rejected by red bull. Which is fair enough. They're doing their own thing. But yeah. I think another team to come to if one if i were to do it properly pain. I wouldn't scans it well. He's one possibility because according to rice and magazine in the us one potential new team. They presume they be buying a current team. He's andretti autosport because they actively pursuing entered a folding lawn. They looking at buying a tame logically. They're going to be talking about williams l. for mayo haas because the only private teams you'd think that would be open to some kind of deal sil- yes the tory. Dory's been facade the minute it was awesome to six a surely wouldn't put he he's one for drums. Alpha tori will be near hands by the year. Two thousand twenty five. That's interesting though. Isn't it because we take for granted that red bull has choose teams and look basing. This community has ever obviously. They've got a rice now as well at the red bull ring. But there's a reason for them really to have choosing especially if i mean presumably that wanted to replace peres eventually with one of their own drivers and of course eventually maximum happened. We'll move on.

"Poor characteristics esteban have been describing when you're struggling fitted in with a potential problem in the era of the car and it could be one of these Situations where driver feel slightly uncomfortable in one area and lacks a bit of confidence in that triggers problems in another area and the whole snowballs. So what is really minor problem. Become something much bigger So may explain what happened but then they they aren't sure but you know if one has has a tendency sometimes of offering obvious explanations for big performance swings so but we know is that the car on chelsea's got now seems to be working. It was a stronger and better day. for the team And it will be interesting because they struggle struggle to monaco. It was one of the poorest weekends because don't seem particularly good in Low-speed corners Hungering has typically been quite similar in car requirements. Monica so been carrying on that front again. The truck temperatures and high kind of punishing lays push on the tires today. Kind of skewed things and is giving us a really unclear picture. Aware things stack especially that we dixie tight midfield where You know tiny swings can make you from q. Three hero to a q. One chump and what about the towers because of course you case no dopp. Naga day the crash in f. p. one which saw him sitting out choice of f. b. but peter gosling possession king pretty comfortable in the atari saying some fast times in both sessions. What did you make of both sides of the garbage there for yuki again He's had a habit of binning cars too often. This season which is frustrated. The team and i think they will will end up being pretty annoyed today. He lost a lot of running and he got out for. I think one out lap in a flying lap in q two after repairs for me lexin impe one is lost track time and this is a season where there's only two hours running on a friday. That's really important. You get all your long runs and short runs and understanding so it's at least one car for most of the day in a bad bad for the team I'm sure helmet. Marco will be having some stern words who've yuki about the kind of anita saxton really shouldn't shouldn't be crushing in Qualify in practice sessions so just achieves absolutely nothing of appear we'll be encouraging the alpha tori started the struggling in kind of medium speed corners Quite lazy on turn They worked an awful lot. Try to address this. This problem So will will be a beast to him in the team that on a track like this for have shown to be quite good. I think will be whether or not the loss data from mucus out of the garage. Wholesome back or not or if they can build on them. Push on from here. Now we are coming to the end of our time. Unfortunately that miss as red bull chatted up quite a chunk there but looking forward to tomorrow a copy of questions festival. Who is your money on a four pole and second of all who else down the field are you looking out for. I mean we've only touched on a couple of teams here but of course lots of other drivers trying to put their best foot forward before we head off into the summer break. So who are you keeping your eye on as well. I think i'll still go. Go from max powell. Just because i think that car is still quickest over single lap. I think maximum also be super fide up and super determined to make sure he starts this race from the front. So we'll be it'll be an an added edge to to his performance But i think again. I think the mercedes remains a very very strong race car And you lucile walk on the front right. And they'll be tiny tiny margin between them. But that's my prediction. The prediction of the front and the down the village that any drivers have stuck out to the think could put in a shocker. What abo- esteban. Maybe be good. I about how they had this. You start off the season strongly. Had that paul run with whatever. The problem was with the car. Bit better at silverstein. So may what about the you know something again from alpine pay fast. Abandon fernando pushing on up there. We'll see if they can pull off some magic as well like he did it. Silver thing. Yeah that would be a very good run of weekends for the alpine team. The damage abide. We will have to wait and see though john. Thank you so much for joining me as ever appreciate your insight back and that's all from us so thank you for listening..
