"And then being able to them into your school and yet e something that was You know a physical thing but it was just like. Oh my gosh so to moans come to mind when i think of ali one is price because i was Before charging i called around right The area and i figured out what every other school was short. Sounds like all right Wise and i'm sure this is with a lot of scores. I'm going to undercut everybody. Everybody's gonna come to me right. So i think i was charging like eighty bucks a month or something like that right and Which is very very cheap. And allie made me realize like no. It's not about you know you need you need a declaration price because you need to add value so you can raise your price and and things like that. So you're you're getting paid more for what work and number two You allie made me realize product sales so Us like hey you need to like incorporate your products with your curriculum and this and that until this day our you know. Our students have devised certain tools or year every time they level up and my product sales went through the roof. Went into an eight and they still do Thousands of dollars in products and allie mae. We're still using alley system or when it comes to that good. let's go. Allie guy is so smart. I can attest to the fact that You know he brought up the fact that you know when somebody joins wanted to sell them a second uniform. You're giving them the first one for free. But why don't you sell of the second one at a reduced rate right out a game changer. Small game changer. But in the long run it's a big game changer. The other thing was I was just selling one set of sparring gear. And he said why. Don't you give three options and you know not everybody chooses the most expensive more people choose the cheaper one but the middle one is getting bought. You know maybe twenty percent of the time and and You know i strategically have made that. You know that. I make more on that than i do. Even the lighter one you know that type of thing so just some of those game. Changing things were huge with with regards to retail sales which that's alley talks about that. That's one of the biggest holes in the martial arts industry. You know retail i. I also have one more thing that just came to mind. Alley told me. Put your logo and everything.

"Nola. Just wait till you get home. It's not a big deal. I appreciate. I can work and when asked him if i can work and that was the hardest thing to talk about. Because that's the one thing that i regret. Most she knew the right words to talk me into letting her do what she wanted. And everybody tells me it's not beaches. I should've could've would've well. I would have to agree with your friends and the people that know you. It wasn't your fault. I mean there's definitely evil out there you're just doing. What normal parents do. They go to work so they can take care of their kids. And you're a single mother. If you would have known something would have happened to your daughter. I know you wouldn't let her go out. There probably would have even left work early and came home so it wasn't your fault. It just wasn't so what was her original plan after leaving school. Did she intend on coming home first. And then walking to the burger place or was she just planning on getting off the bus and then heading straight to the burger place. I told her two brothers home because she forgot her key her hausky that day so i told her as like well. I'll tell you brothers to leave the door open just in case you leave but it ended up where she walked the other way to exit the neighborhood to walk to work. How far was walked to work. It's only a quarter of a mile a neighborhood. We don't live on the outside street but the street that basically runs a circle around the neighborhood and is exactly one mile around because we used to walk right out by our bikes just in the neighborhood so to exit the neighborhood. We live right by one of the exit and so wouldn't have been very far for her at all. Actually get out onto the one straight shot straight to to walk up to the burger barred. Had she ever walked there before no and she'd never asked either and nc think about it she just turned sixteen february and this was her very first job. She had been trying to get a job mall for the longest time but this one came up. I don't remember who told her that. The place was hiring so she decided to apply for that and she got the job. I mean what kid wouldn't wanna cook hamburgers and french fries all day and she always had a ride to work on school days. My mother was always over here at the house. And my mom didn't live too terribly far from us and my mom had made it a habit to be over here at the house because the semester before allie went missing. So it'd be the first part of the school year. There were girls on the school bus. That were picking on her bullying her trying to pick fights and stuff and they've got all at her bus stop which drive or shouldn't have allowed all the kids got off allies bus stop and there were two girls that tried to beat her up and allie ran home that day and she called me just frantic and she said these girls are gonna kill me. I don't know what to do. And they had punched her. And so i left work early and and came home. And you know told allie. Before i left works i didn't hang up and you call nine one one. No because i didn't know frantic kid on the phone. But they're by themselves your your. That's what the first thing that comes to mind and tell them to call nine one one. So after that day my mom made point to be here at the house. When i got home from school. This give alliott peace of mind that it wasn't going to happen again. Do that put an end to allie being bullied not until the end of that semester because she also had been for gym class and we did follow a report on the girls could say lived here in the neighborhood to that was trying ordeal. But every since then. Allie fed up at the front of the bus. Then when we were able to review the best footage for the day allie was sitting towards the frontal thus now what happened after she got off the bus. Was there any type of video. Well after she got off she wasn't seen again my ex-husband john had gotten a chance to review the best footage and he was looking out the windows to be if there was any cars or anything anything like jumped out at you and there wasn't anything it was just the the neighbors cars that were on the streets that we could be the best surveillance but mainly on there to look at the kid so the Division out the windows is very limited but the only thing we have to go by are the two boys that got all at the bus stop with allie and then one of the girls that drove home. She pulled up in her driveway. Just askar alley. Got off the bus so there were three eye witnesses. They did see alley that she got off the bus and she turned to walk out of the neighborhood. Now do you know if the police check banks or any local businesses that were nearby that might have had cameras or any homeowners that had cameras in their homes at possibly filmed outside. Well you have to think about when the two thousand ten most homes didn't have their own surveillance but it wasn't law enforcement. That acquired a surveillance. That was john and it was allie's dad and there was one place. It was the shell gas station on the opposite corner of the corner that allie would've walked past to get the burger. Barnes and john was the one that went up there and asked if they had any cameras and they let him watch it on video and they even burt him a copy of it because he was looking for allie walking across the screen on it and he'd never saw her and so he gave it over to law enforcement and they lost it. Did she even get to the gas station or walk past it. Well she wouldn't have gone into the gas station parking lot. If you think of an intersection alley would have walked. They log on the south west corner. And there's the surveillance was on the catty corner so it would have been like on the northeast corner but their cameras were facing the intersection. And beyond the intersection. We would have seen departed the parking lot that alley would have had to walk through. Did she walk through that area. No john never saw her on the video so it seems to me like whatever happened to her probably happen within ten to fifteen minutes after she got off the bus based on the fact that this happened so quickly. I wonder if it was just a random thing. Somebody just happened to see your walking by in and pulled.

"The kids in school. And i only as far as school. She was never a straight a student except for conduct she had strains and conduct but she struggled. I guess she got that from me but she did enough to get by. When she went missing she was in tenth grade. She loved to play softball and when she got into junior high school and she played the flute in band and then from the flute. She became interested in choir. She loved to sing anyway so she you're going into high school. She couldn't do and band so she chose choir and her art when she was just get artist is still have a lot of her artwork hanging on the wall Proud of her for her art was interested in pursuing a career in art. I noticed she had perations to be an artist. The summer of two thousand ten. She was supposed to visit an art college in south carolina. Her art teacher had homes and paperwork where there was a program for high school students that we were looking into that when she went missing. That was something that we were really looking forward to three. Did girl scouts together. Even though i think. I enjoyed it a little bit more than she did but yeah her. Main focus was her friends her art and music. I mean anything and everything to do with music. Live music concerts and videos. Her favorite band was green day and she loved them so much. She had a notebook where she wrote a lot of their songs. I'm not sure why she wrote them out but going through some of her journals. I had seen that she had wrote a couple of or south which was of course. I didn't discover that until after she went missing. That's one thing. I wish that she was shared with me but we understand that teenagers have their private lives that they don't wanna tell anybody about right and i went through that with my kids. I mean as teenagers. Those are pretty tough years with a lot of them because they're just learning about themselves in they have a lot of decisions to make so it's understandable that they can sometimes be have troubles but it sounds like allie was just the typical all american kids. She liked art music shed friends. She did what kids rached typically do love their family and it sounds like she had a really happy life so it doesn't sound like she would have been someone who would have ran away. Because i do believe. I saw and some of the things that i read that. There was a possibility that she had was a runway but to me it really sound like she was a runaway. I think something happened to her. Yeah that was law enforcement that accused her running way Thanks they profiled her just by looking at her bedroom and oh she's sixteen years old. She likes the color black. When law enforcement came that same night that we reported missing. That's what they basically told us was just to call us tomorrow when she comes home and that that was the start of our bad relationship law enforcement. Unfortunately this happens often and so many times the police will just say oh he or she just ran away. They'll be back. I mean if your child has a history of running away or they have a history of doing drugs or just running with the wrong route. I can maybe somewhat understand that line of thinking but when you have a case where you have a child like your daughter that the falls law minds their own business stays out of trouble just does their own thing and they don't have any history of being the kind of child that runs away. I honestly think that you really have to look at their cases a little bit differently. Definitely so the police probably should've taken this more seriously than what they did now about the day that she disappeared. Was it like any other day. Was it a normal day or was there anything unusual about it. Is there anything strange that you can remember. That may have happened before she went to school. It was a normal day. I was a monday and of course. Mondays are hard for everybody to get up early. So she was getting up and getting ready for school. And i was getting ready for work typically. She walked out the door to meet the school bus before i left for work and she would normally either just 'cause her bedroom doors right next to mine. She say mom even or she would copperhead in my bedroom door and say she was leaving or something and that morning didn't even fear. I heard her a woke up. But i never saw her after. She was dressing ready for school. We didn't even know what she was wearing until almost a week after she went missing. That part was difficult. The morning was very typical the weekend leading up to that day there was nothing that had happened. No altercations or anything. It was just a regular weekend so she went to school that day. Like normal and from what i understand. This is what. I've read on the internet and various news articles so she had a part time job working some burger place and after school. She wanted to walk there and pick up her check and maybe pick up shift and then you did not want her to do that but she managed to talk you into it. So is that part of the story. All true. It is true. Yeah most of it was over text message. But i'm telling her no dissuade till i get home. She called me one. Of course she was in class and shouldn't have been using her phone anyway. So that was one of our discussion but yeah she called me. She was like mom. He's supposed to pay me. I really wanna go pick up my paycheck and told her.

Who Was Serial Killer Todd Kohlhepp?
"This week. We're going to talk about todd. Cole hep which i know you said you were not familiar with correct This he is a infamous case Murdered several people. He actually got caught because kind of similar to discuss. Couple of weeks at one of his victims ended up being rescued. And then it was a whole can of worms that was open and he got caught. So todd call hep. He grew up in south carolina in a very very dysfunctional home. I mean broken family. He was abused by his father. He was abused by his grandfather. As a child he was constantly moving from one place to another which created instability in his life. And it was kind of this storm of poor factors in his life that created this soup to create a monster essentially by like okay if you come from a broken family. That doesn't mean you're this crazy murderer if you move around constantly that that's not gonna make you a psychopath right it. But being abused by the male figures in his life adding with all of these things coming from dysfunctional household. They all added up to make this to make him into what he is. So you can look at it as we always look at the nature versus nurture right. This is a little bit more of a nurture situation. Because he was just hitting left and right with these bad circumstances he was not he was not taking care of the way he needed to be taken care of and created this everything that he was late. I mean to me. That's like the greatest debate and forever like in the world. I i really think so.

"Fellow broadcaster comes from the television and the radio but now makes living of course with the the popular podcast cup of tea to chat that she does along with our friend gene. Bean baxter which. I like saying all of it. I like saying gene bean baxter. It's fun to say when he was a guest on our show. just call them gene. Didn't didn't feel right. Doesn't yet doesn't by the way i listen to kevin bean for years without ever knowing his name i didn't know I guess i never thought about it. Even had a real name right so it was shocking to meet him and And then find out that he was a person gene. How many people gene do you know. Gene simmons my dad's bookkeeper. When i was a kid was named gene. It was a popular name back then but to me. It seems like that's a bookkeeper should have the name. Gene has a short for eugene. Gonna match probably l. your thoughts on this. I am rivetted your gene quiet now. I know the your partner. You can't sit here and good or bad about them. You gotta be right down the middle. I mean that's one of those chains that i feel like there's locations like the one near here that i trust implicitly and there's ones that i i'm like i don't know about this one blake one. I don't know why. But i feel like they're doing it. I went to the marina del rey. One i got the remember. I think even texting you is what. "I know. Yeah you're gonna you're gonna here. This is the top of the show. You are by all accounts twenty minutes early. No i'm not. You are five minutes early. Because i've been sitting in my car got said what i do. You could go shopping. You talked about it on your program that you are person that gets their replaces way too early. So so you've been in your car for forty for twenty five minutes and you went fucking. I'm going in even if it's twenty minutes early. We use at forty five. No i did not soon noon. No no update the They waited in my car until eleven. Forty here's an animal. Here's what happened. I believe that we'd probably have some texting back and forth forty five. Am here's early not early. Here's what happened. We i believe we may have text jim about noon and then i did to elliott's point did not update the email the Confirmation call time email. "Of course that's what we want. If since you're out there probably gonna hurt the package. It's it's a big mark. It'd be bucks. Yeah hey guys. All right allie thank you. We appreciate that alley. What we're trying to do is there's the movie campus man. You remember the movie. Campus man nine hundred eighty seven black. And have soul. Which would be soulmate. So this was. The guy had to borrow money from cactus jack and the editor repair but apparently one of the three names we would recognize from this movie has been on our charity events and we can't the female fifty seven years old was in campus man and has also been on podcast on and we cannot figure out who it is. Hey is it the woman from from love boat. Oh joe whelan. Jill whelan now. Is that a good guess. Why are you asking me. Because you're the arbiter of good guesses made it clear. The only person who can say whether it's a good person who knows the what fucking thing your father said you and you here. That makes you think that this is appropriate conversation. But i'm going. I'm i'm put the fucking stop to it right now. You don't you. don't get the judge guesses. You're not the guy that guess jeter judge. I was not a once again to be clear. I was not judging the guesses. Judging guest commentary. And i've never i've i'm not kidding. I've never been more serious in my life over. Something that at the end of doesn't matter by that i mean eliot hobart. He doesn't deserve it. We got another clue. Here's the thing about your guess. If i'm pretty sure she's from the goes right. Jill whelan no. Let's we'd take back your storable say they. You can tweet me like once every two weeks or something just to give me that no problem. I bet you week one. You stop doing it. I think you do it one time and never do it again. Hysterical thinking. I'd do it i don't think you do. I don't think you do then. There's no clue by the way off to a completely off topic i was. "But don't feel like you're stuck if you're not really stuck so that's my recommendation. Pregnancy and birth. There are things that i would have done differently. I probably would have exercised more and Eat more salads. Although i did a much better job second time than the first time you know. They're variety of things like like that but my recommendation is to find a good support team and to be as educated as possible and to understand that god has you in his hands and that At the end of the day as much as birth does matter as much as the experience matters. You will you holding that baby in your arms will be ultimately ultimately what matters most all right and then just some other little tips that i have for what i've experienced so far in my two years of having babies earth side is do not wait for your child to go to preschool or to mother's day out or certainly kindergarten to teach them what. I'm amazed by how much i've been able to teach my oldest two years old bites. We started learning the alphabet and learning numbers learning shapes and learning all kinds of memorization before she was one years old and because of that like she has a large vocabulary and she has a great understanding of things That i would say probably most two year olds don't because we have been very very diligent her whole life and teaching her things and that's not just because she's brilliant. Although of course. I think she is. It's actually i think because kids are sponges and we think that they can't learn things that they actually can. And so. I have resources on my website. By the way i will link in the description to this podcast. Allie beth stuck dot com. I've got like a list of resources. The i recommend for kids not just teaching them the alphabet and things like that but also categorizing your kids. So that's like you ask a question. They answer with some sort of scriptural response For example like the first the first one of our kids catechism is who made you. Answer is god. God made me. And i think that's like as far as we've gotten so far but it's just a great way to kind of build that foundation singing songs to them helps them learn. And just don't assume that your baby and your toddler can't learn their learning all of the time and so i've just found that repetition and challenging them with things that maybe they can't quite understand yet but can go back and think about on their own has been really helpful and i'm just constantly impressed with what she is able to pick up in so you don't have to be some you know mathematician or wordsmith to teach your toddler things about the bible or you know just basic things that they need to know. I would say if you can set them up as well as they can before they go to school And then also kind of piggybacking on that disciple disciple them share the gospel with them in a way that's age appropriate As much as you as much as you possibly can..

Essentially she started contacting me at my old place right now. Actually crashing it. My jeep set about with. I'm not sure if i mentioned in my class. And so she started leaving all these crazy messages and my old place. Until i'm like well. I can't go back to my condor and so now i'm just like pretty much. Hold up at the duplex and i'm just gonna stay there now because apparently make a ease back and she's alive. She was just hiding out in mexico. And like a love nasa something. And then. what's crazy. Is that becky to buco game. And then she got a like jelly of everything like my kids. Say and so. She's like posting all this trash online. About how like. I don't respect god's house to you know basically get like advance my career which is insane. My crew is amazing. So i'm just dealing with this whole thing right now with. When you had to budget for price te hand sanitizer and toilet. Paper burst orders. We can finally seek out experiences that we had been missing out on for over a year like going to concerts. Sports games going out to dinner or going out of the country but while we can have those experiences again the prices are going to be really jacked up these industries that rely on ticket sales have to make up for a lot of lost time. We had a chat last week and i was learning a little bit about some of the things that you're doing and had to get you on the show right away so really excited to hear about that stuff but before we dive into all that could you just give us a little bit of info about your background. How you got into doing what you're doing now so my backroom actually electrical engineering electrical engineering college in optical h. I decided that the right thing to do was to go work in finance in new york for for a couple years it had nothing to do. That's the rumor and academia that i heard was like you can sell your soul and go make a ton of money and finance not that you have to sell your soul to go into finance to work on the fund problem of privatizing toll roads There you go fascinating in. Its own way but after a couple of years of it. I decided that wasn't for me. And i decided to go back to engineering so actually moved to boston from new york to work at a weird academic lab at beth israel medical center which is part of harvard medical school. Where the professor who had one apprise full coming up with a noninvasive way of tracking the progression of ls and he'll spin off. Stop as part of that. That was very data driven. Like two thousand and eleven. And i didn't know anything. That machine learning stats. Well you know. I've done a bunch of electrical engineering and information signal processing in college. Speaking & Living the Truth in Love With Dr. Albert Mohler
"Dr miller. Thank you so much for joining me again. You are such a voice of encouragement for me. As i listen to you on a daily basis in trying to make sense of really what can only be described as confusion and chaos. That something that you describe it as often as well whether it's coming to gender identity and the sexual and moral revolution that you talk about so much you're just the intricacies of policy in court decision so first of all. Thank you for that. Can you give a little bit of first briefing. Courage meant to christians who really just want to bury their head in the sand and to not look at. What's going on culturally and politically and just pretend like none of it's happening because we don't know what to do about it. Do you think it's important for us to kind of keep abreast on what's going on and why looks great to be with you. Allie beth and yes. I do want to offer that word of encouragement to christians not to stick our heads in the sand and try to ignore or be oblivious to what's going on because it's not just that we we have to be faithful to christ in the midst of our times we. We have to understand what we're up against there but it's even more importantly out of love for christ's church for fellow believers for our own children and grandchildren need to be thinking through these issues even ahead of the culture in order to be faithful when the culture throws the the next the next weapon at us and frankly they're coming fast and furiously and just love her own children and grandchildren and the determination that they grow up and be faithful to christ. It requires that we be very aware of the things going on around us. i understand. It's daunting and painful. And it's complicated. But the church of the lord. Jesus christ has all the resources we need to confront these issues with faith and without fear. That doesn't mean that that we don't understand what we're up against but we respond with faith and without fear. So that's a good word of encouragement knowing the truth is a good biblical. Principle and denying reality is never faithfulness.
Should Christians Support the Death Penalty?
"Hey guys welcome to relatable. Today we are finally going to talk about the death penalty. I've been wanting to talk about this since january. Well i haven't been wanting shocked because it's a very sad subject to me. I don't like thinking about it. I don't like talking about it. But it is a very contentious at the moral and theological issue. That i think is important for us to be able to confront biblically and be able to talk about not just in the secular political sense by also with fellow believers with whom we disagree. This conversation was brewing. Back in january. Pretty heavily specially in christian circles due to the executions of several black americans that some people claimed were innocent or just claimed should not be executed. The trump administration actually reinstated the federal death penalty after several years of it. Not not being instated. There's been a lot of it. We've had talked about since december. So i just haven't been able to sit down in organize all the research that's required for it and even today we're not going to be able to get into every single argument for and against the death penalty. I really want to focus on whether or not there is a biblical backing for it or whether it is categorically biblically and morally wrong. This is a subject that i have been doing a lot of reading on a lot of research in fact when people were talking about it the most online. I didn't really talk about it that much. I was doing a lot of research. Because i knew what i thought that i believed but i hadn't really done a whole lot of reading into it in so like my husband can tell you i was up probably until like two or three a m one of the nights that all these conversations were going on online just reading this ethics book this christian ethics book That i have trying to understand all the different

The twelve steps tools entrepreneurship being a leader. All of these things so with that with that sad. I'm so happy to have you on the podcast. And i would love to share just a little bit about who you are and your journey of your own pass through creativity and entrepreneurship. Oh my gosh. it's so cute. See you like really in your head that smile. Well you know scott. I've i've always been entrepreneur though. Obviously when pandemic hit it was time to to get moving you know and they feel like people in the world of fitness and training either really went for it or kind of fell back and you know. I've always been a go getter which we can talk about with with all of the alanon stuff. Long gets that part of the conversation. But you know it's just like i jumped right in. I was doing i. La Liga's Wild Title Race
"We saw athletico madrid lose away against athletic bilbao by two goals to one. Meanwhile for football learn right to one victory away via row puts them in the driving seat to win league given they have a game in hand. That's welcome to the show. allie moreno. You brought this up last week right. Let's say it's big boy time. Can you go to the basque country. Can you get something. Up against a tough athletic bilbao announcer. How much does that tell us about their title. Credentials told a couple of weeks ago then when we were discussing time and time again. Who's going to win this title. And at that point i was leaning towards reality either well kiss of death by the way. Athletic amari was the one that i said. They're not gonna win it and this is the reason why they're not going win. Think about the big games. This season the big moments in which you need athletic to really get a whole of the title to really say you know what we are worthy. A winning league got this year. And i go back to both of their matches against the the first one. That was embarrassing. How bad they were the second one in which they allow me to come back and tie game one. One eight just doesn't feel like athletic. Amari has a real certainty in a true belief that they were going to win. This one's them. Momentum started going in the wrong direction. they haven't been able to stop it and we thought well you know what they'd be very good wak- very good. Is that enough. No because we needed to see it today and although we saw a reaction and they were back in the game was one one. They were pushing forward. There's no doubt that is just all over. Go right now and eventually. They gave up a goal in a manner in which we would think that they would be scoring in a corner kick. How many times we the commodity late in a match the score of a corner and save themselves and get three points now. We're seeing it go the other way. Now they're giving up late goals instead pieces athletic aid. But that's been out of first place continues to me right now. That are going to run direction. And he feels like maybe barcelona's
Report: Phoenix Saw 'Dramatic' Rise in Violent Crime in 2020
"Crime is on the rise in Phoenix, Katya is Allie better talk to the union representing Phoenix police officers. The community needs to know about this also because they're probably not keeping up with the numbers that from president of plea, the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association, Britt London, he says officers do their best to keep the streets safe and solve crimes. But the 70% jump in homicides reported from 2019 to 2020 should be alarming, with the numbers increasing from 139 to 200. The reason we were looking at it is because of the number of officers that we have more accurately that currently don't have. Allie Ventnor. Key
Real Madrid Claim Crucial Clasico Win
"Real madrid taking on barscelona real madrid winning by two goals to one to put the now level on points athletico madrid at the top of the table. Just one point separates in the top three watertight. All so this is gonna be well. Let's welcome in julianne and allie moreno alley. This was a brilliant game. Yes it was. It had absolutely everything that you would want in a game goals. They had controversy. Redcar hard tackles rain. Win everything and anything referees. With his mike pat going off. And i i'm telling you the drama and the end the ball gets pumped into the box. Rebound tariffs day. And he's going to be going to hit a noise. he likes that. Hits it off the crossbar now than a swing and a miss by thursday. Frankly you look at this game and this is what every classical should be like. It doesn't work out always that way but did this hat absolutely everything and most of all the tactical decisions made by both coaches and how those decisions impacted the game. I thought everything was outstanding of this
A conversation on content and language
"We want to start this episode by getting to know our guests a little more. I have quite an interesting question here. That i've asked allie and d to think about so the question is how did you become interested in supporting subject teachers with english. Language needs of the students. How does this relate to your current work alley. Would you like to start. Yes so longtime gay back in two thousand and three. I became a substitute as lots of efl and temple teachers become and that was when i really became passionate about teaching teachers realize impact. You can have if you are training and developing teachers. And then if he is later. I was the head of a language school for the bell educational trust. That was down in kent in a place who bej bring a huge forest and in this forest. I was out of the language school on the same site. There was an international school. And so i also live manage the english teachers there and their role was quite different as it to. We didn't realize that to start with everyone was doing the same thing. And then through observations of subject teachers and the english teachers in the international school. I and the team realized that what was students at the international school needed was quite different. From what the students language score needed and so together we researching to kill some research into what those students who needed to help them. In their subject lessons the english language teachers really canes help to help skill the subject teachers however one thing that really fascinated me and something love encountered in most of the schools i worked actually was was a resistance to this change and whether it comes from people being concerned they don't know grammar enough confident enough in language themselves but it was something that really touched me and because i really feel so much to be learned from both sides and english language teachers and from subject teachers and yet there wasn't this cross pollination going on so after that i did my key ta i realized quite quickly seemed to be happening. Was that if you if you're not a qualified teacher. Actually teachers can be quite resistant to listen to a open. Maybe to hearing what you have to
Ben Silverman - Ececutive Producer of The Office
"How did you discover the uk version of the office. I was at my friend. Henrietta conrad's house. I was not an agent. I had left being an agent where i had found everything from who wants to be a millionaire to cracker queer as folk and had translated them into america as the packaging agent and i laughed. Backed by barry diller to start my own company called rally and i had just begun reveling in win over to london for a work trip and was staying at my friend. Henrietta conrad's house and we were watching television. And i was literally flipping the channels and i came on to the office. This is episode one or two okay of the uk season one office. Wow and i was watching it. I wondering if it was for comedy or for real than quickly recognized what it was doing single camera no laugh track faux documentary with people who felt real and i kept watching and started laughing. And it's really hard to make me laugh. And i was falling in love with the show in that moment and then i started thinking about it the next day in the morning and i asked henrietta if she knew ricky gervais as and she said no but her friend dan. Mazer did and we organized and had dinner with dan that night. Which are twenty four hours after you after you see it for the first time on television. You're having dinner with someone who could get you to ricky. Yes and additionally. I also wanted to be with dan. Dan was sasha baron. Cohen's partner allergy was on television. Was allie ardor your then no in the uk okay. But i'm with dan mazer yep. Dan is lovely brilliant in his own. Right and i start peppering questions about the office. And he gives me ricky cell phone number and so the next day. I call ricky around eleven o'clock in the morning and introduce myself on the phone and say i'd love to meet you. Are you in town. He goes actually. Yes me in soho at the starbucks this afternoon and i coordinate a meeting and i spent an hour with ricky talking about the office and very quickly we got along because we both love television and he truly was making me laugh even in those moment right over over the coffee at starbucks and so he clearly had chosen the location of the starbucks because he then says to me oh good news. My agent is right around the corner. Let's go meet with them so it was almost like he met me confirmed. I was okay roy. Conversation was interesting and then we walked over and met with dunkin' as his agent. And then duncan and i began a three month process to secure the rights. And it wasn't until dunkin. Help me unlock it. All that i realized. Both the bbc and ricky controlled the rights. I needed ricky and stephen merchant to actually get it done and agitate to get it done otherwise. It was never going to get done. Got it so you you deal with the bbc. And you deal with ricky steven. You have this partnership in place and where do you go into the united states. I immediately start making phone calls and saying. Are you aware of the show the office. Do you know what it is. Do you think it would interest you. And this is probably now a month after are so run. The show has started to gain buzz. It's aired its cycle in the uk. Its initial six episodes and so it has an awareness. Now it's a thing right not a big thing but to anyone in england it in the television industry. You're aware so. I'm i'm back at the states reaching out to people one of the incredible things about hollywood which was a huge advantage for me to do. Well was that people in hollywood are pretty insular and don't like to travel. They think you need a passport to get from burbank to beverly hills. That is travel and so many people at this time in american television had no clue connection about anything beyond la. Right and only one exac at the time knew what i was talking about was a guy named nick grad. Who worked at fx and he knew what the show was and he loved the show. Kevin riley was running fx. At the time. I'd gone to less mooned us he passed. I went to gail berman. She passed immediately. Didn't get it. Hbo said we'll never do a remake. They clearly have altered that thinking that that time they were like. We won't do a format and showtime wasn't doing shows like this right. I didn't go to abc. 'cause i just knew it wasn't abc. Right and i was starting to tease. Nbc with it and kevin than got named the head of nbc. And i bring it up to him. And i say would you wanna do it here and kevin says absolutely little. Did he know he was actually my only buyer that time. He was the only one right who wanted everyone else. All of television everyone else had passed. Now are you in kevin's like let's do it. Like let's let's make it. You know i'll give you a pilot movement and then kevin's boss though. Who is very involved in his life. Jeff zucker didn't really like it that much because it was his single camera. Nola back injury. I got it like it was a hard pill for them to swallow. I was also like they didn't want the game show back in prime time when i brought millionaire. Everyone thought that was cheesy. Daytime like no no. This will change. Tv know you gotta look at it from how to push the genre and pushed the envelope. So that you can expand versus always play for defense right and i was like this is another level and this is potentially transformative of television and with that can come great great
Restaurants In New York City’s Asian Communities Especially Hopeful Increased Indoor Dining Capacity Brings More Business
"The tri State area are expanding operations, including in New York City, where indoor dining is now allowed at 50% capacity as CBS is Allie Bowman reports. Restaurants in Asian neighborhoods are especially hopeful that this We'll bring in much needed business. It has been hard on every restaurant and some business owners say anti Asian xenophobia made it especially difficult for restaurants in Chinatown cannot help feed it earlier than most, because Asian Americans stopped coming as well. People over fearful thinking associate actually aren't early on last year. Wellington Chen is with the Chinatown Business Improvement District. Does Lebron James Deserve More MVP Awards?
"Let me tell you what. Lebron james is notorious for a other than skipping town. Go to another team other than that you know what. He's famous for taking his foot off the gas to a regular seasons when he went back to cleveland. You remember that he was like i don't mean to have the number one seed. I don't need to kill myself during the regular season. that's why he didn't win. Mvp's he undersea deserve to have more last year. Janas was the mvp unwanted convincingly and overwhelmingly. Why bernie 'cause the year before. John is wanted and lashio. Jonah's had better numbers than the year before. And the milwaukee bucks had the best record in the nba. Lebron james was really shocked because he had some false narrative going on that he was the mvp. Come on bernie has some humility. You don't have to do that. Politics will knock it you an. Mvp saying goes true. Greatness needs no self promotion. And we've talked about this probably at least once in every show we've done robin that is lebron is incredibly insecure about his legacy. If he's really the king what is he. Allow these things to get under his skin. He did it last. September when he lost out on the mvp then he says well. What really pisses me off. Allie got sixteen votes out of. That's what really pisses me up. Look if you want to continue to die in this hill lebron. You're going to continue to be seen as petty and al kuzina says the mvp's very political award. Yeah so is the mvp and major league baseball in the nfl. Probably the nhl and the heisman trophy right on down the line. Linda brown goes on to say. I don't sit around thinking about it or crying about it. That's what he just said that's all. He does time even when they won the championship last year and i gave him top credit. Lebron fan never will be better given top credit. Because the lakers are a franchise of eras you had to wilt air the jabbar air the magic the kobe and shaq era negative lebron air to win a championship and when he did the first thing he does say i want my damn respect do what he. What are you constantly begging for. What exactly is it. What happened in because you know why bernie it tells you all you need to know. He knows deep down. He's not the best player all time he knows his michael jordan. That's why it's always looking for these other things to add to his resume. That's why he he wants an mvp and you know what he sees now. He seems j. He sees james harden in brooklyn without a kevin durant and they've won fourteen out of fifteen or whatever the number is bernie and and he's looking going and when a went out to lakers stumbled he's not going to win the

"allie" Discussed on The Wellthier Together Podcast
"The church is the bride and he never abuses the bride regardless of what we do. It never newer in the Bible does Hebrew abused the bride and I think that? Really educating younger women about what look for is the best way to. To cut down on the numbers of marriages end up in divorce or and also have domestic violence it causes the divorce. Rate. There was a podcast I was listening to last week and one of the speakers she runs everything through a biblical worldview. Love her. She was saying that they did a survey and I think seventy five percent of the women. said it was okay for their boyfriend or husband or significant other to hit them because they did that he felt disrespected and I was appalled and it was like I am talking to Allie Rude nicotinic going to cut this out. To our best to educate inform peoples they don't. That's it's never is never appropriate. And never right. So what is domestic violence? How can someone spot out some things in dating process before? Ding get married. In domestic violence is basically like a pattern of behaviors that one partner uses to maintain power control over the other partner in intimate relationships. So sometimes, you might also call it here at called intimate partner violence. It's the same thing so that that involves physical abuse mental abuse, emotional, financial, spiritual. Those are some of the big ones. That that often, you'll get like a combo of all of them is very rarely. You'll just see physical your Jesse emotional and it usually starts off the pattern that I have seen because I've also worked as a social worker. Many years women is it usually starts off emotional. You don't usually see like if you're dating. Trying to date a guy you if he gets matter upset is very rarely you would just see him smack you across the face. There's usually a build up an escalation. So looking back, my own story is started off with like name calling. So you know I think sometimes the problem with the name calling is I grew up. Renamed calling was almost like a joke where the guy who would jokingly call you name since I thought Oh you know what it is..
