"Come your way as he takes time away from the press conferences with president and company it often on the other side of the glass about that getting a little little run today back at the shop in Manhattan Ernie a cost of course back at his ranch in a beautiful Yonkers we'll live from the town fair tire studio nobody nobody nobody nobody and nobody else beach town fair tire and bro how are you I'm at peace Joe he's are your kids for now I'm at peace because for the last few weeks I have put a lot of blood a lot of sweat a lot of tears a lot a lot of tears right right into completing the bracket of pain for you and it's all done all right it's been finalized on a brilliant it's been done I want to thank Tom Izzo who did a great job of a great time is about to head coach at Michigan state basketball but not our own Tom is off Tom is did a great job of designing the bracket making it look nice even gave it like a phrase it says bracket but Nagel bracket a pain it quote let the pain began and that was a a time is so special and it's all done so tonight right when our show was over okay bracket will be posted at nine my Twitter account and WFAN dot com and I figure on Friday we can get the play in match ups on the way and we can begin kind of celebrating all this great pain that you've gone through as a sports fan charts are you a tremendous job by you guy obviously I know you got a lot of time money cancel yes yes you don't you know my feeling on it but it'll be interesting you should be it should be an interesting situation was what what's your game plan like every day will go through another match up is that what it is I think so maybe two or three day we got to see how long it takes how much you can deal with because I look out for you bro I don't want you to have to deal with too much you don't want to avoid that you know it's it's tough for me I mean I'm a little older now you know a little difficult not as easy to do the things I used to be able though so you know I appreciate that well absolutely I'm glad you're always looking out for me you know I love you for that yeah absolutely I'm looking out for you because like the idea of all just do like ten matchups and one day it that's not fair to you right it's a lot it's a lot so it's only so much you know what we'll take our time we'll take our time and here's the good news gels we have a lot of time we have in in the immortal words of the great the legendary Mick Jagger time is on our side because I got a little any attack now today we have the great Jeff Kent is gonna join us as very first time we're excited to talk to a guy who I think it's all Famer and I think it's all the same second yes ma'am we'll talk to Jeff coming up at four o'clock we'll talk a little nine Yankees and beyond with Nick Swisher who will join us next week sure this summer's list yes Nick yes John well let me ask you because I it is up to you yeah I was two games that I found myself watching last night one we had talked about that was game five the one nothing game between small already boasted it with the other game I think I was watching with a lot of people because it aired on ESPN last night ESPN I gotta give credit they've done a good job a very adamant classic very good job as well yes and last night not to just a moment but the entire game they aired the return to New York after nine eleven that famous Mets brave all day yeah we're piazza of course right a home run yeah yeah I had everything in that game because at our model Benitez coming in and essentially blowing it let's be honest about it comes into a tie game first pitch he throws the Brian Jordan spoiler alert line drive up the middle for a base hit and the Braves took the lead and I look like a bridge call when I mean honestly but then Mike piazza has magic an inning later so that was actually kind of fun to watch but it was also in a weird way depressing to watch because as emotional as that moment was and it's one of the great moments in New York sports and forwarded your varsity after the horror of that attack on nine eleven but I think back to them what happened over the weekend and that was and I said this on Twitter Joe for for my generation for those who are a little bit younger who don't remember Terry Pendleton doing what he did in nineteen eighty seven a Roger McDowell that that's Sunday was our Terry Pendleton moment was at the game because they made this big run yes you know one they make this big run they almost get there okay and this is the game that was that Frankel winds up what gives up the home run to pry Jordan is at the game this one was well there were two Brian shortened games right this was the first one on a Sunday and she stadium they won the Friday night game that's obviously right the infamous return after returning to New York after nine eleven they win the next day because Greg Maddux after the first inning had to come out with some kind of a warm issue actually had to leave the game in the first inning and so the Mets took advantage of that they won seven of three and then on Sunday they're about to pull within two and a half games of first place and they're leading the Braves for one in the ninth inning for one in the ninth inning and the guy that we blame for this is actually a Gianfranco Gianfranco blew it the following week was alright but he that was in Atlanta yes you give up a goal of the game Frankel blues in Atlanta that was a week later yeah right and that was right that was his I think that was worse because they were active five to one in a game seven runs in the bottom of the ninth inning and acres and they stayed hot that whole week after that so if mistaken what happened was not going to Atlanta for that series exactly they they win the first two games against Atlanta they're about to pull within two and a half about to sweep him and Benitez up by three he's got a three run lead these two outs and a runner on first and he's up by three gives up a home run a Brian Jordan okay fine just the look by one run then issues a walk gives up ahead and then BJ Sir off ties the game up with an RBI single S. R. O. and then they end up losing in the eleventh when Brian Jordan hits a home run off the immortal Gerard region and that's how they Los thank you jurors are are to regain the hard to regain yeah I think he played like corner for the falcons I gotta tell you I never heard of Gerard reading I have to say yeah he well not exactly but not exactly a memorable met we don't we can I think I'm pretty confident in saying that because you know it's funny man I remember Jordi hitting two home runs in the game I remember our model blowing it but I still I looked it up and I was looking up last night as I was watching this game I forgot Gerard Regan existed so I certainly don't remember that so what they gave up the home run the Jordan but you're right after they lost that game they ended up playing well to wear when they got to Atlanta they were only three games out right there is all right exactly in the Sunday one or is a Saturday I think was actually Saturday Saturday evening with Lana yes I think so okay one Friday and they're really you know you're really getting excited now and then they had that game as I mentioned at Frankel gave it up to get shorted at all yes he gave up a grand slam this was Jon Frankel like you said right gives up a grand slam Brian Jordan in the bottom of the ninth inning after the Mets had a five to one lead in a loose he took yes it was a tough one man you know I do at that point it was over I gotta be honest with you guys and they were gone after that no I know and it was kind of a miraculous run because before the September eleven attacks the mentor like right around five hundred you were right seventy games out there were really and if they're having a very Avenatti got rid they really did I mean they were rolling going towards the end of the season absolutely they got hot they got back into it they were two and a half games out and obviously those two just disasters to Brian Jordan the Braves determine but the game on Friday I mean it was one of those moments that go that night Friday night with the return to baseball in New York in which I actually wasn't at the game and I went to a lot of make games and I don't know you were not there for that game well here's why I lived in Washington DC at all after you read the that's right this is yet it's is you know nineteen years ago right and I would what I would do is I would come up a lot on weekends and I I like I mentioned a couple days ago C. met Yankee games whatever is about it was a big deal right come up for mention you to come up for opening day on Friday I did the radio show I did back then and I got on Amtrak and listen to the game listen to Bob Murphy and Gary calling call that game on the radio while I was on Amtrak coming up to New York it was going to go to the Saturday and Sunday game and I did that's why I was there Saturday when Greg Maddux left with an arm injury that was certainly there Sunday when they blew it right listen to that entire game on the radio and Murphy you know he's he's at his best and it's towards the end of his career but the whole of the piazza all run by the way is a tremendous goal all its its outstanding on Friday and it that's how I experience I know a lot of people were live tweeting or talking about the game when it was on last night lot of people were there a lot of people are watching it I was only a few listening on the radio so I think that last night was actually the first time I ever saw the game because I've I've heard it and I never saw it in well tell your Brokeback a lot of memories especially when you look at you know the light up that they had going out there you know it's funny it's is it is is a different sport but last night I had the I was bounced around a little bit as watch any NFL network and the second Joe hi Patrick Superbowl don Knapp was which I've never seen on television you were there I never saw it on TV and you're just watching that game and how how to patria mia you don't remember early I wanna get that I gave but how many mistakes the patriots made acting yeah any other thing that jumps out at you is how good a game Allen Hernandez at yeah any any any each scored a touch the court a touchdown pass in a game as well that you know to give them a seventeen nine lead at that point and it just yet but it's it's really weird when you see that you know what I mean no question I had I'd never like I said I had never watched that game at all because of the fact that we would ask you to do something to be said and I think I'm taking this time to take advantage of this right go back and watch games yeah I did it with the jet patriot came out at fox right a goal that you never watched on TV but you were at the game right you you get a very different perspective very much so and certainly this the the met brave game is kind of the same things I'm remembering back to hearing Bob Murphy call it Gary Cole and call it and then you actually see it anyways I mean the pitching matchup couldn't be less sexy was Jason marquis against Bruce Chen that night is that what it was at night he is chasing more key Bruce chan Bruce Chen Jason yeah the immortal Jason marquis the Staten Island native who's young at the time Brian Bruce channel I remember the Mets got from the Phillies when they would don't be hurt when I when Dennis cook right right when I put the game in so many ways and it's emotional man I think one of the the thing that jumps out you'll be on baseball's you're thinking back to how we all felt that everybody you know and and Y. T. decals and and and the fire department caps on it all and Abby was either you know it it no question I mean very memorable in the old tires aware so that makes it even more so yeah no no no it's kind of just enhances it because it's the it's the Braves you know in in the symbolism at the beginning of the game where the.
