"This really folks we got primary season coming up And you know it's interesting that Crenshaw is talking about performers I mean why am I harping on this Performers versus legislators when in fact I'd argue he's making the case against himself You know haven't run for office man I don't know I just get deeply offended by this stuff Because people fall for it There's one specific guy not in Congress anymore but years ago people used to come up to me oh man that guy's such a great conservative See you on Fox and be like you look that guy up You sure you got that story right Because the guy actually votes against conservative stuff like most of the time All hat no cattle No cattle at all Big hat though There's a lot of that Go to the liberty score conservative review and look it up You will be stunned Who the most conservative legislators are and who the most conservative legislators aren't Now just to be crystal clear there are some in swingy districts who when we need them take good votes Sometimes they take bad votes Sometimes we're stuck But you got people in R plus 5 or 6 districts that are not so much safe but relatively safe still taking crap votes How do you think about it right How do you get a guy like mittens in Utah Mittens which is like R plus 6000 How do you get a guy like Mitt Romney How did you get a guy like Jeff flake in Arizona Which is a purple state How did he get that We got to clean that up And Crenshaw in Texas bashing the freedom caucus is just not what I wanted to hear this morning And you know I try to avoid these Republican on Republican things because they're a bigger fight But I didn't start this thing He did And it deserves an answer All right let me address this quick and tell you what I got coming up because he got about 45 minutes left but I got a lot of material I got more evidence coming up in the remainder of this hour that the liberalism curse I've been telling you about is actually a bigger cancer to the poor and the middle class liberalism where they claim they're helping that it is to anyone else I've got proof positive with another legislative proposal that what the liberals are doing is going to do catastrophic damage to the poor and middle class who will ironically have to pay off the bills of the rich the liberals claim to decry I've got that coming up next A big congratulations for Devin Nunes something happened to him Devastating poll information Also I want to get to this before we go to the break Sorry It showed my back Did you see that I got to use the remote because my shoulders are so bad Yeah like a back scratcher or something My shoulders I can barely reach So Allen baker who's a great writer for breitbart writes about the tech ecosystem He's been you should follow him on social media He puts out some really good stuff He put out a little mini thread on social media can you say on Twitter And he was talking about how Twitter ironically is now doubling down He thinks with the new CEO ever since they got rid of Jack Dorsey He thinks that the new CEO is even worse He thinks they may have activated he speculating but it's fair speculation to talk about that they may have activated an old algorithm designed almost exclusively to censor conservators And he produced some evidence conservative accounts that got blocked all at the same time Folks I said it before I'll tell you again I have some ownership interest in some of these some I do not I am obsessed with the parallel economy We have got to get away from these people Banking finance social media tech their liberals have grown into a full blown socialist movement They don't care liberty and freedom are just bumper stickers to them They don't care they're not interested They're not interested in tolerance It is time now for you to start thinking and readjusting your financial relationships and your tech relationships Open accounts on locals open accounts on get her true social when it comes out Parler rumble all of it open those accounts today because I think with this new CEO and when the new CEO steps in at Facebook one day and takes over for Zuckerberg I promise you it'll be worse not better And if you don't have those platforms and accounts up and running and you're not publishing there in a regular basis you're gonna be left with nothing as they mass banned conservative accounts Don't laugh It can very well happen And the people in charge have no sympathy for big R God given rights at all They don't care All right more on that liberal policy I told you is gonna burn the poor in the middle class badly And actually make them finance Finance the rich and their life I'm not making it against the rich But imagine that the poor and the middle class because of liberals are going to be financing the rich By the way if you want to give us a call take some of your calls this hour 8 four four four 8 four three 8 7 two 8 four four for the USA A four four four 8 four three 8 7 two I'm "Tom brady has a podcast called. Let's go and he was talking about. How young all the quarterbacks in the nfl our gang is a very young. And thomas noticed it. There's a lot of rookies planning. It's pretty amazing. I don't remember this many young rookie players even a second year. Guys tua herbert borough. Trevor lawrence shields played a little bit true. Lance played a little bit zach wilson's playback jones's plants a lot of young quarterback so pentagon or the days of drew brees peyton manning philip rivers. Eli manning you know those guys that i'm used to hear and i'll be forgotten here soon enough. I'll move on beyond someone else just the way. Football grows as those life. it was interesting. He said that yesterday join. I talked about this. And i said i thought to myself driving home. It's not true. Nfl's always got like nine ten young guys. They're just usually not very good. So we broke it down. Quarterbacks fall into three categories historically young quarterbacks. I three years in the league You're either a young quarterback you make mistakes. We say lights just went on then. There's the prime quarterbacks you're in your prime year four year ten year eleven plus. You're an older quarterback so right now starting quarterbacks in the nfl. We have nine. Young quarterbacks twenty-eight percent to zach mac joe borough trevor lawrence justin. Herbert jalen hurts. Daniel jones camry and they feel young now. Herbert didn't play young. But that those young quarterbacks nine we have sixteen or seventeen guys who are in their prime. That's half the league year. Four to ten josh allen baker mayfield lamar russell tannahill wins bridgewater mahomes derek carr dak prescott taylor heineke believe it or not kirk cousins jared goff sam darnold jameis winston garoppolo your mistakes now on. You can't blame youth your in your athletic prime and got plenty of starks and plenty of practices. And then there's the aging quarterbacks this is eleven plus where the injuries last longer and you. You've taken some hits ban. Brady rodgers matt ryan. Tyrod taylor matt stafford. That is nineteen percent of the leaks so currently twenty eight percent of the league is young guys. Fifty percent of the league half is guys in their prime. Those were the guys that usually have a chance to super bowls and then nineteen percent. The old guys. So i think about you think yourself..

"We made it through months and months of just waiting for the nfl season to happen. I've said it all off season. My most anticipated. Nfl season. that i've ever a really felt dub never felt this anticipation before and it's going to be so much fun. I mean it feels like christmas. Morning is coming tomorrow on thursday. But it's coming two days this week because we have an even bigger and better christmas on sunday. So much anticipation. It's been building up so many storylines this summer summer. Chocked full of storylines. And i've never gotten to dive in to the nfl. And the off season world and looking at the holy is a scope like this before. So i really wanna thank. Gmc for giving me the opportunity to do that. But we've got big names. We had big names getting paid this off. Season like dak prescott. Josh allen we had. We've got oto beckham junior coming back. This year often injury. We've got saquon barkley coming back this year off an injury. That coming off a gruesome injury after he was playing so well. Nick bosa coming off an injury during james coming off an injury. Coming back to the chargers christian mccaffrey. When the league's most prolific offensive weapons was just unavailable for most of the year. Last year he will be back from injury. We've got tom brady trying to defend his title. While you've got staples in the afc. Like patrick mahomes josh allen baker mayfield now lamar jackson all coming at the chiefs. Who are presumably the cream of the crop of the. Afc we've got fifteen quarterbacks on new teams this nfl season guys like carson wentz matt stafford on new teams. Sam darnold is on a new team ryan fitzpatrick on a new team. I mean all of those guys and many more not to mention the rookie quarterbacks. In the second year quarterbacks that are getting ready to release try to try to solidify their positions in the national football league so all of that all those story lines and so much more obviously named all those guys coming back from injury and injuries just a part of the game of football. So there's gonna be some more devastating injuries that are gonna suck to really talented players. But we've got a big crop coming back that we really didn't see a lot of last year not to mention all the players that weren't that held last year because of cove nineteen in the guidelines are now back so a lot of really talented players that did that. This season is just going to be amazing. This season is going to be amazing and to start the show. I really wanna get into week. One i wanna get. Everyone excited i wanna get primed and ready. I want everyone to kind of know what to watch for in these week. One games because we have a absolutely loaded slate and absolutely loaded slate of games for week one. And i'm gonna look at what the lines are. What vegas is thinking. Even though they're still can be feeling out these teams some fantasy guys to look for preview of the matchup and then after i preview a game. I'm gonna ask one important question that each team from the game that i just previewed has for the season one important question one season defining question for each team. So i'm gonna do all of that and then get into a little more of a news update and coach football recap. So let's get started with the season opener the tampa bay buccaneers. They are taking on. The dallas cowboys are minus seven and a half a pretty big number. I thought for the reigning super bowl champs against pretty solid dallas cowboys team. But i think a lot of that has to do with just how unpredictable prescott shoulder injuries but overall is gonna be a great game. I really think he's gonna be great game. I think that's seven. Have numbers too big for the cowboys offense. I think even if they go down early which. I could easily see happening. I think they have the offensive firepower to make a comeback in these games But buccaneers going to the super bowl ceremony to celebration all the players coming back. I just don't know how healthy dak prescott is. I don't know how healthy dak prescott is on the other side of the ball didn't play in any preseason games but you practice in full this week picked up workload a gradual. They're being very cautious. So i don't have that much concern. I'm pretty confident he will be okay. And it doesn't really seem like a lingering issue but it's also there's such a unique injury as well the reports say it's been healing very well but the buccaneers this opponent. This week is they're also going to be very good. I just i just don't see them being as dominant as they were in the postseason last year. Because look get everyone's coming back. Tom brady is going to be good. But it's just so hard to repeat in the nfl and you. You rarely see teams. Bring the exact same team from a super bowl winning Season you rarely see teams. Bring pretty much the same exact roster back and just run back you kind of need to have a little bit of retooling of looking at your roster and not to mention this very veteran teens. A lot of age and experience on them so those are my concerns with the buccaneers. But they still have a great roster. Still have todd bowles commanding that fantastic defense. At how could they played. I just don't know if we're going to be seeing that. Same buccaneers team that we saw in the postseason throughout the regular season..

"Is there on the goodyear hotline. Yeah i'm here on. Espn nfl analyst. I they told me that they couldn't get in touch with you. Then i looked down and there you are all in red las waiting on the line going on bro. Not much buddy how are you. It's great to be back with you. Yes yes. Dan had the nerve to tweet at me the other day. What you i forgot what the tweet was. But you were saying cite your sources. 'cause you claim that i'd taken something from you and then what did i do dan. What did i produce. You somehow created a false Content that you said what i had. You had said matthew stafford under the most pressure on the quarterback. And i feel i have felt that way and i was like max. I said this back in june when i said it and you were like check. Your sources bro. I and you had said march or something. By the way baker mayfield has elite ball placement any as an absolute ken inferno baker as a canon. Go back to the baltimore ravens game. Last year he actually the ball out of the end zone. Seventy three yards. Oh wow who has. I don't remember that who has a bigger arm rate. The arms just strengthened the arms. Josh allen lamar jackson baker. Mayfield josh allen baker mayfield lamar jackson. You have big rover over lamar who rate this speed between josh allen. Lamar jackson baker. Mayfield foot speed lamar jackson and he's not even in the conversation. Then josh baker might Rate accuracy baker mayfield over arts actions over josh. I don't see. I don't see when you talk about elite ball placement. My point is to me a lot of the twin. I was trying to make a messed up asking about accuracy after you talked about as league ball policemen but the the point i'm trying to make is baker would probably be second in a lot of those questions right and the other guys show up in more of those questions first and third. Maybe but the. But i don't see bakers being like the super accurate quarterback. I see him as being accurate enough. I think both josh and the mar have things within their game. That allow them to thrive individually to a level that baker. Just we'll never get to. Josh has the six or five hundred and forty pound rocket arm kind of creative athlete. That baker can never gets you and so that's gonna allow them to thrive overcome things make up for things that baker just can't do and then lamar has the game changing vertical speed while also the lateral shifty. Nece that again covers up makes up things but also enhances your playbook that baker will never have doesn't have those things but it's like an his game it's dan it's like a evaluating pitching prospects or even great pitchers in the major leagues right. The well rounded pitcher who doesn't have the best fastball but has a good one who doesn't have the best command but has good command right. Who can do is is like a lotta times number three starter but the other guys who may be flawed in certain areas but have that over. The top stuff can be aces. They can be hammers at the top of the rotation josh allen. Lamar jackson in different ways. Remind me of that. I more than baker mayfield. You're saying i'm wrong. No i would agree with that. I think that's a good analogy. Like josh in the mar. Both have ninety eight mile an hour fastballs in ninety two mile an hour curve volts. You know it's just they've they've got more high level stuff while bakers. Probably a lot like greg. Maddox you know really. I don't wanna put greg maddux a hall of famer but paint to be very heavy little. Tom candiotti than greg maddux. Hey dan or steve avery. At least then but i i get your drift. Okay i want to move onto dax shoulder with you because there's been a lot of talk like oh. Why isn't he practicing. What's going on with that. How concerned are you about that shoulder. I'm not concerned right now. It's got my attention max. But i'm not concerned about two years ago week. Seventeen on the road against philli to win the division that shoulder that same shoulder. That's hurt now is hurt. Then he can't play as well as you want the ankle and then the shoulder. So i'm not concerned has my attention. I'd say this 'cause the question is when do you get concerned when it becomes one and hinder a hindrance to him playing or to a hindrance to him playing well you know that's what i get concerned and i think we're three weeks away from that. I think people are making a way too big a deal about them talking to the rangers about it. I would actually say it's negligent to not talk to the rangers. They're right in your backyard and they deal with people who throw every day right and so they're going to be much more Understanding and had seen much more. And so i still think we're a couple of weeks away from this becomes now. Do i think it's going to be a part of the narrative this season. Yes i do because you're just not gonna get much time off but if it doesn't affect his ability player play well then. I don't think much of it i'd say one he shouldn't have played in the anyway. I would not have played anyway and then too. I think it's really important for the cowboys to understand what they're going to ask him this year. Like ask him to throw the ball a lock and be really really really good just for me. I just don't think there's any benefits are rushing back. You know. I have to ask you another thing. Then i noticed that. You're never late for mike. Greenberg or a keyshawn johnson yet for the max. Kellerman show dan orlovsky. Prompt denver laskey shows up a three minutes late. What happened yeah. I think it's important to just shun subliminal and nonverbal messages that people received received yes actually talking to field. Yates about nfl alive today so that. That's that's why i was a little tardy. I apologize say no. No the message received you finally through something that someone.

"Some receivers under some running backs to help their He did a lot of good things. A lot of good players evans and gain will where he took them. I would have preferred running backs. after I know he could not have got lindsey. I wonder if he thought lindsey was gonna fall to fourteenth round priscilla lindsay. I guess we'll get to that in a minute. But yeah i i'm with you bulky Excellent receivers that expensive. But let's move on and talk about seeing number four here. John paulson from four four dot com. Got a chance to catch up with him. Here's how his team ended up. Ryan tannehill ryan fitzpatrick janus winston at quarterback running backs. Alvin kamara joe mixing tony pollard. Latavius marine devante booker at running back. Receivers are tearing maclaurin dante johnson. Chase klay pool. Tyler boyd kurdistan kwan. Smith and john brown. Tj hopkinson. eric. Hebron and motor alley kat. So you've got a thought process on on this one. He gets the stack of of maclaurin samuel and ryan fitzpatrick. You also Ends up getting Camaro with the four pick. Which i thought was pretty. Good up nicholas. Habeas murray as well good stuff there. I think that as i look at this squad. There's not a whole lot i. I don't know if i would have done differently You could. You could make the argument. That maybe his is number three running back as week But obviously elliott goes down. He's elite at the position And then the tight end up hockey. The tight end six is great. I don't know if i would have waited until round fourteen to grab jebron but you gotta be. I'd say you gotta be week somewhere. And certainly i think john paulson left self week at a spot. That may not be the worst thing in the world for his success in strapped. Yeah i think he's got enough hopkinson based on the fire. Firefighter he has at the other. Physicians are like what he did with the stacking. This would be our Read in in Connor from chasing the helmet. They would this'll be their favorite teams that they live for the stacking and tannehill continues to grow in my eyes especially in this format. There's an eighth round quarterback. Unlike jalen hurts. Who will possibly flirt with forty touchdowns and i like that situation like that situation. Were john paulson. Let's see how much we liked the situation for team number five. That's alex palazzo. As he gets josh allen baker mayfield as quarterbacks sarah henry non jay harris. Jk dobbins trace sermon. Gus edwards philip lindsey and damien williams at running back receivers chris godwin levinsky chenault. Michael pittman russell gauge. Gabriel davis. vico college. Tight ends tyler. Higby jay howard and dan arnold so for a guy who really struggled or said he struggled with distract getting sniped back and forth obviously did an awesome job at running back. I think the quarterbacks are great as well. That's how much i love. Oj howard as my number two tight end when these my number one but i think the problem is is receiving court on velocity. Chris godwin sure investigation all his number two. I think i said this last night. Not a huge fan. Pittman your three..

"Catching slants cannot get back in the league catch him slash four hundred million says that's all he does but they pay drew brees in then they will pay him. They pay kamar in a paid on the defense assignable. So come i could go through the whole league the entire league. Everybody's get paid. The green bay packers are getting ready to pay a rogers even though he ain't rookie deal getting ready. If he goes back to give him three hundred fifty million in they just pay kidney clark air jones getting paid and they gotta pay davante adams. Oh by the way the chiefs didn't they just pay their quarterback. They did anti review and they tied in and the defensive tackle and they brought in frank corker traded for him and paid him and getting ready to repay tyrone mathis again after they eighteen months and patch behold coming off a rookie contract when they decide to give you five hundred million. The funny thing is i got you convinced. Now well you. You make an argument because time was saying. Hey this is the reason why we were able to do the deals we did. Jj watt this. Is the reason why we were able to make a deal. And bring in the andre hopkins. Get pain kyla. Murray if you want to instill bring them news in a pam it's all about your policies playing with the numbers and making sure that they fit in and they work in the projections but does it. Does it smack in the face. Two three years down a lot to cowboys happened to the cowboys number. You know. that's that was an excuse. That had happened to them. It was an excuse because they is an excuse. Because you were not winning. So what i say is oh well. We couldn't get the players know you was paying players. That couldn't play so you were so bad you couldn't the track guys that wanted to come in and play on bad teams that's it. It's not no absolutely no absolutely no in so when you look at teams around baltimore cleveland. Pay on give them the money baker pay him really. You pay them you give them him on do. Do you wait this year. Especially in cleveland to see if baker can take this and elevate this team now to possibly the super bowl. Because you've got everything around. I don't know that i don't know that. They're a super bowl. Appearing teamed issue. They certainly are in the mix but so is kansas kansas city in kansas city. So they're up there there. They saw in front and so far in front of everybody else. That is you know. It's interesting to see if cleveland could get there but queens are really good team yeah. Baker has consistently gotten better over the years since his rookie year. He's gotten better as a quarterback second half of the season. We saw what he was able to do. Once he learning offense and things slow down for him within the system a brand new system. Think he's had four. I think he's had like four or five. Different play callers in his head since he's been bright and he's had four head coaches if you want to include interim head coach so it's like it's different but i'm paying and a problem with him. I'm gonna give money. Whatever it is. Mark jackson yeah. Where are you going to get. Lamar jackson pretty good for wire receiver And where are you going to get josh allen. That what is their thing. Isn't it funny. How the conversation always goes. Why don't really know about the more and baker. You pay josh allen. What's the difference. What's the difference the josh allen baker. Mayfield lamar jackson. There is no difference. They all got three unique different styles that fit what that particular team is trying to do. But we elevate josh allen. After three poor seasons portland will call a poor but three young seasons where in that second year. Then all of a sudden you get stefan weeks and cole beasley and they start to look a little different. They noise now all of a sudden he gets a few. Mvp todd's everybody's like oh this guy's great but lamar whiz the mvp and we still sitting up going We don't really know about this guy. Come stop. That's what they want and nothing wrong with that. Because that's what they like. And i'm sure if he was on the open market they'd be twenty some other teams have rushes without question. I don't even understand why we even had that conversation about paying him or not paying him. Well it unique side of a to. Brian is we always gotta say and not from a negative standpoint but we always say well his mother's doing his deal. Okay so what does that mean. His mother's doing deal. Well we hope that the ravens don't take advantage of. I don't think the ravens will be able to take advantage of the situation. Because the market is the market period. The numbers of the numbers is not like she's not going to walk into. Her lawyer is say what do you think about this or walk into an agent. That's behind closed doors that you don't know anything about because she's talking directly to the team in not an agent a certified agent giving her advice. Think about what. I just said you. You really think that. She doesn't have some advisors in the back room telling her in advising her of the pluses and minuses of a particular deal that may be presented. Her no i. I'm with you because she did this deal when he came into the league. So that's what i life in mark carolina panther deal. I did the deal myself. My agent was behind closed doors..

"And they brought in Frank orchestrated for him and paid him and they're getting ready to repay tire Matthews again after they paid him want and Patrick Mahomes is coming off a rookie contract when they decided to give him 500 million. You know, The funny thing is that I got you convinced now. Well, you make a good argument, because kind was saying, Hey, this is the reason why we were able to do the deals. We did. J. J Watt. This is the reason why we were able to make a deal and bring in DeAndre Hopkins. You can paint Colin Murray. If you want to instill. Bring them dudes in the pan. It's all about your apologist. Playing with the numbers and and making sure that they fit in and they work in the projections. But does it does it smack you in the face to three years down the line? The Cowboys is that happened to the Cowboys. What number of years? No, that's that. That was an excuse. That it happened to them. It was an excuse because they did. Is an excuse because you were not winning. So what do you first thing you said, is all well, we couldn't get the players know you was paying players they couldn't play. So you were so bad you couldn't attract guys that wanted to come in and play on bad teams. That's it. It's not. No, absolutely no. Absolutely No. And so when you look at teams around Baltimore, Cleveland, pay him giving their money. Baker, Pam, really You pay him. You give them their money. Do you? Do you wait this year, especially in Cleveland to see If Baker can take this and elevate this team now. To possibly the Super Bowl because you've got everything around him. I don't know that they're I don't know that they're a Super Bowl appearing team this year. They certainly are in the mix, but so is Kansas. It's Kansas City and everybody at Kansas City's sold They're up there they saw in front so far in front of everybody else That is, you know, it's interesting to see if Cleveland could get there. But Cleveland's a really good team. Yeah. Baker has consistently gotten better. Over the years since his rookie year. He's just gotten better as a quarterback second half of the season, we saw what he was able to do once he learning offense and things slowed down for him and within the system, a brand new system. I think he's have four. I think he's had, like four or five different play callers in his head. Since he's been a rookie, right, and he's had four head coaches. If you want to include interim head coach So it's like It's different, but I'm Penny ain't got a problem with him. I'm gonna give him his money. Whatever it is, you know Lamar Jackson. Impending. Yeah. Where are you going to get Lamar Jackson at Pretty good for a wide receiver, huh? Absolutely. And where are you going to get you all shouting that what is everything? Isn't it funny how the conversation always goes. Well, I don't really know about Lemorin Baker. Oh, yeah. You pay Josh Allen. What's the difference? What's the difference that Josh Allen Baker Mayfield, Lamar Jackson. There is no difference. They all got three unique, different styles that fit what that particular team is trying to do. But we elevate Josh Allen after three poor seasons, not poor. I want to call them poor but three young seasons where in that second year It was like, Well, you know, then all of a sudden you get Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley and they start to look a little different and they make a noise. Now, all of a sudden, he gets a few M v p Type nods, and then everybody's like, Oh, This guy is great. But Lamar wins the M V P and we still sitting up going, Hm? We don't really know about this guy. Come on, man. Y'all need to stop. That's what they want, and nothing wrong with that, because that's what they like. And I'm sure if he was on the open market, there'll be 20 some other teams. A lot of noise have without question without question, so I don't even understand why we even had a conversation about paying him or not paying him. Well. "But you know josh allen baker mayfield. Derek carr so still. There's a lot of decent quarterbacks in the afc if you go to the nfc well their best. Quarterbacks are kind of fizzling out. drew brees aaron rodgers. What's his future. Look like tom brady. Even though he's in the super bowl. I still get this feeling. It's not gonna last forever. i mean right. He's not going to play when he's fifty is he. It'd be nuts but you see what i'm saying. The nfc has some talented quarterbacks for sure but the afc right now they have the guy so then some would say the opposite of that. No he wants to go where he can compete where he's going to have the best competition and i could see that too but i don't see west plus plus it's vic fangio. I don't know does that. He's not an offensive genius. Pat shurmur. i don't think anybody's putting the offensive genius crown on his head. So you certainly looking at that going all right. Well if i go there can they can. They give me the the tools i need. All right. they got. They have some the selling point is the is the receivers the is that roster but you might have to trade one of those guys to get him. And that's the young up and comer and jerry. Jeudy with the speed and quarterbacks love guys that can just take off and just beat you. Because that just i just got throat up so i don't see it happening denver. They have to call. But i just i would be extremely shocked if the sean shows denver and if he does colefax lookout not quite going to be like the media hype that meant when manning came to denver but this is going to be huge news and denver will become one of the most talked about teams in the nfl. Suddenly they will go from zero to hero just like that.

"We are straight out of Vegas and I'm Jonas knocks voice of you. The FAN coming up here. In just a couple of moments we will take a closer look at three young quarterbacks entering a big big season. Jones what did you think that tees outstanding? I'm GonNa do it again just to kind of tease ahead. This two minutes. There's three quarterbacks in a lot of questions entering the third year Baker Mayfield Josh Allen Sam Darnold this stats Tau us. Two of them have a very small chance of having a good career. After just two seasons you can predict it man. I wonder which one it is. This is the fastest growing show on Fox. Sports radio audience has more than doubled last year. We appreciate the support so much you have so much to do with it right now in Las Vegas on the Strip. One hundred and six degrees. Wow It's summertime here in Vegas. Neon is off until a week from today it's scheduled so rj taking a closer look at the two thousand eighteen quarterback draft class and this becomes an even bigger season for the first three quarterbacks taken. Baker. Mayfield Sam Darnold Josh Allen. Yeah no doubt about it and a lot of talk today. I thought it was kind of funny. I was interested to hear you thought of this is really the main story on the talking head shows was Sam. Darnold was talking about not talking. Didn't didn't that seem funny. Like the main take was that darnold was telling us that he's not really GonNa talk much anymore except he's talking about it well. It was a Baker Mayfield Baker misspoke there. Yeah Sam Darnold doesn't he? I don't think he's done a lot of talking since he got motto. I think I think he tried to stay out of the headlines. Baker Mayfield wanted to make it a point that this year's Cleveland browns teams aren't going to be as vocal and I remember. We discussed it last year. How vocal they were going into a season for a franchise. It really hasn't done anything for a long time. No doubt in to me with I think people get it wrong with Baker Mayfield. It's not that he likes to talk. It said he likes attention and he loves attention and the fact that he's getting attention. I mean not for me because I'm actually saying Sam Darnold just to avoid the fact of the matter is Mayfield. Getting attention by not in this case. He's talking about not talking but whatever he's doing he's still getting attention so to me any idea because I heard serious people or people on show saying that like this makes me so optimistic about Baker Mayfield. And it's like he's you know if he finally has grown up it's like what has he done. He's talking about not talking all right. Why is this year matter so much? What's the classic third year in which after this season's over for the first round picks right so these are first round picks? We're talking about here. The fifth year option has to be picked up or not an obviously trubisky was an example of that a year earlier. That just happened. Trubisky didn't have a great third year and his option was not picked up. Now I'm actually going to have a follow up. Bat Jonas at the end of the show on trubisky and will he start or not so a good little t there but the fact of the matter is the stakes are not as high as they were with trubisky. And here's why the agreement changed this year. Whereas for the quarterbacks drafted in two thousand is not just the position that you were drafted in the first round so with trubisky one through ten which he was had twenty. I quarterback was a twenty four million dollar fifth year option. Right not picked up if somehow some way these first writers are not performing its performance based they could have a fifth year option pickup. That was much cheaper so yes it matters but it won't be that monster decision and if it is a monster decision it will be an easy one because it means the players have done well. It feels like that hasn't been discussed by enough the change with with the fifth year option. Yeah I think people are taking such a cutthroat approach with this draft class and just looking at if they don't perform this year then you know we're just going to get rid of them altogether. Well I mean how. Do you really know what you have with these quarterbacks especially you know a guy like Baker Mayfield. Who's on. What coach number three his career? At some point you got to me on. We do a weekly podcast outside of this and I was just rant and rave and I can't lie was ranting and raving about how injury luck and let me ask you this question just Atta left. Field is upon expectations entering the NFL. With Angie Lock. If you actually looked at his results where WH- what percentage of his potential do you think was fulfilled? Meaning if you thought of all the possible outcomes he could have been the next Tom Brady. He could have been horrible. Where do you think he was was? Was it a blow average outcome? Maybe would be the best way to ask it. Yeah I would say slightly below me. I think to me I think well below but and you know what's funny the Andrew Luck apologists and I won't say any names. I'll just see the Andrew Luck. Apologists would not concede that point no matter what in the fact that he literally retired. You know added strange time right before the season starts and left his team out to dry. That was somehow that was her roic right somehow and to me. Sam Darnold yes SAM. Darnold is actually in the same scenario. You were talking about Baker. Here's some excuses well man. It's the Mono it's Oh. He doesn't have any playmakers except wait. You just got lucky on bow. He's a playmaker. And it's all he's on different coaches to like wow. Is there ever a time that these players are going to just say? They're going to be responsible for their performance. Because you're right. It could be the deciding factor but you know things like number coaches and all that but who really cares meaning ultimately you're either performing or you're not. I get that if you're trying to predict the future you could say well. There's some things that caused this short sample size. The be not as accurate of the truth. Is We think it could be but that gets old soon enough. Don't you think yeah and I also think that there we sort of moved the goalposts on who were willing to criticize new. Not and it's strange and Sam. Darnold doesn't get nearly as much criticism as Mitch. Trubisky does and trubisky's at a better career and I don't even think it's close. I want to hear Sam. Darnold GET AMI criticism. It's IT'S WEIRD. I. I'm telling You. I want to get his PR age. I mean I don't know who that is but his mighty good I'm RJ. Both straight out of Vegas without a PR agent near as good as Sam with no PR ages but not near as good all right pro football focus and you know I actually think they don't get enough credit because what happens with football focus cosworth involved lot of you know. Media talks about him a lot but they talk about them on the surface in those surface. Numbers are fine but boy they do some studies that really statistically look at what wins in the. Nfl is predictive. That I think are unmatched and one of them. That I was just such a fan of was they were looking at. How do quarterbacks do in a second year or after two years? And how can you project out from those two years? How good they really are. And this is going to shock you so you take the two years and this is what obviously Sam Darnold Josh Allen Baker Mayfield and Lamar Jackson and you could even say you. You could even say Josh Allen but okay and I'm sorry is even. I was thinking about the quarterback. Josh Rosen Josh Rosen. Yeah but yeah I think that conversations over at this point but if you look at Sam Darnold and where he projects to. Here's the quarterbacks that are right around him. These are like the. Comp says they say the comparables Blake Bortles. Gino Smith Christian Ponder Mark Sanchez. And these quarterbacks are.

It's you so you know it's like that impending divorce it. It's when a better opportunity presents itself. John Gruden's GonNa move on. I would say be very careful. John Patrick Mahomes is gonNA drive you crazy. Derek cards a franchise quarterback and depending on the Sunday. He's He's maybe eleven twelve best in this league. It is remarkable. How few teams are truly happy with their quarterback? And I'll give you an example. This morning I was gonNA use emojis and I thought let's take all thirty. Two teams and the five categories of happiness so here teams that are truly happy with their quarterback wouldn't trade them for the World Chiefs Eagles Ravens Packers Saint Seahawks. Titans they are. We're all in Philadelphia. Texans by the way. What did I say Texans seahawks saints so basically mahomes went Lamar Rogers breeze rustle the Sean that's their guy financially vested they're emotionally vested and they really liked him as they like him as dudes or it here are that's the next level truly happy? The next level is they're happy for now. Jimmy Jeez good but what if he stinks against Seattle next weekend and get wacked in the first round of the playoffs playoffs and throws three picks. The Cowboys Falcons like Matt Ryan. The game is changing. He's not a great athlete. Brady they like. But he's forty two and there are signs individ- rams steelers Vikings again. They like Big Ben but he's getting old and Mason Rudolph not the guy to replace him. They're happy for now. but there are people in the room going. We gotTA draft one. The world's changing. There's things they can't do then. There's the third category of quarterback. They're a happy. So far Josh Allen Baker Mayfield kind of Murray Daniel Jones Sam Darnold the teams are like. Listen there are guys. We're not. We're not paying them anything anything. So we're getting a huge discount at the most important position and they've showed a something even Baker. They've showed US something win games. They got talent happy so far and then the next two categories are the ones to really glomming onto the next one is pretending to be happy saying all the right. Things bears box box. Colts Lions Raiders. Titans deep down. You've seen a Lotta Tannahill and Stafford can't win enough big games and Jacoby percents good kid. But he's no Andrew Luck and James has really good Sundays at really bad lengths. And you're not sure what you're going to get in the bears with trubisky have to sell it to the public. They're pretending to be happy but they're not really happy. Then there are the other ones are just not happy at all and they're not gonNA be about it. bingles Broncos chargers dolphins jags eggs panthers. REDSKINS chargers won't come out and say it but everybody in the world knows Phillips old unathletic and makes dumb plays those teams are not not happy at. Aw but here's the key to that and I've been watching the NFL for over forty years in the last two categories. You've got thirteen teams pretending to be happy or just unhappy. That is over a third of the League. So when Gruden said he's unhappy with Derek Carr and that story comes out he's just pretending to be happy that's my entire life been the league over. A third of the League is looking looking for somebody else. And there's always about two to three quarterbacks in the next draft that will satiate or assist or elevate a couple of teams but be very very careful. Jon Gruden outsider rich Gannon for about an hour and a half. You have any of your quarterbacks long-term it's hard to find them. It's hard to develop them. It's hard to get him the right offensive line to protect him. It's expensive to get the weapons increasingly expensive to get the weapons to elevate them. Be Very very careful on. Derek Carr Gay because over a third of the League's never happy.

"We have had some fun, working our way through the precip quarterback rankings. We started last week. We knocked out the first eight two per day at and there's been some buzz so far. There's been some reactions in people not happy with some of the rankings, but we welcome all of that, especially since I'm not the one who made the rank. Has some input. Chris your career backup ranking ally. Thirty four out of forty. How would you know you didn't have more than twenty starts in how many years fans planning, and that is not that's right? I'll give up. I won't even pay attention to full body. More. My career wasn't that good. I know. Nothing and Bella checks career was so good in football. That's why he has all the answers. You know that. Right. Stop with that crap man's planning whatever it is. First of all, okay, take all your cheap shots at me as you want. You know, I mean, I don't think on the only person in the world that would have many out of the top thirty two. I mean Madden football game. I believe the thirty six rated quarterback last year. I've actually moved him up two spots from where it had last year. So again ally manning at this point of his career, yet there's backups that are better than there's just no other way to say it, and go ahead. You want to read the next one because that'll fit that fit good. Go ahead, any anyway. Georgia, how the quarterbacks ranked better than Eli rate with the offensive line. That allies had the last three to five years. Matt Ryan used to get the same disrespect when his offense of line was terrible. Yeah. I mean, I guess I don't know Matt Ryan. I don't know if he ever got the disrespect. We all understand ally. Manning has certainly had offense of line issues. We get that the last few years, it hasn't been perfect. But a lot of those office align issues or his fault to, you know, he takes acts. He doesn't wanna move out of the pocket. Throws the ball way too early at times and doesn't want to take the big hit. So I'll you know again I know the offensive line hasn't been good. But there's been worse offense aligns football, the last two years, and we don't nearly make as big a deal about it as we do with manning because ally can't get out of the way and it just gets sent you waited even more and more, or he doesn't want to hold onto the ball and he checks down and go away. Why do they keep throwing the ball three yards down the field and that's because he doesn't wanna stand there and take a hit and throw Beckham? Senior who would be open for a forty yard posts. So that's why and one other one that I saw unrelated to ally lash designs from earlier this morning. I just noticed. You have two quarterbacks on the list that have never taken a snap in the NFL on man. So what did they, they didn't want to, like they didn't want to rank guys that were first round talent or anything like, oh my gosh? I can't figure out where to put these guys. I mean, I won't rank Cuyler Murray as one of the thirty two best quarterbacks. I mean he was only the first break of the draft. But since I haven't seen a play I know Murray's better than a lot of quarterbacks in the NFL right now. I don't need to see one second of it. Yes, of course, this is a little projection, but I've been around this, my whole life of szeswith, it, I'm not going to go through my whole resume right now. And of course, I studied a lot of these guys in college. I mean I studied them all, and I studied them thoroughly. So, yeah, I feel very confident that I haven't seen him in the NFL yet, but I can rank them as far as where they project. Going into the season. Forty two. No, no. That's fine. We, we need to move onto number thirty two. We need to give the guy who finishes thirty second on your list. Yep. Fair time to ponder his talents or lack thereof because it's still the bottom of the starters. Tell us who you have in that spot. Bogo Josh Rosen. I mean Miami Dolphins now. Right. Josh Rosen, Arizona Cardinals first round pick from last year. Hey this is a tough evaluation. Okay. The first thing I'll say it's tough to really evaluate Josh Rosen and know exactly what you got. Because Arizona stunk last year. They were the worst team in football. I mean offense align stunk had no run game. They had a fire their offense coordinator. So the offense assistant was all over the place. But Rosen is a gifted passer, Mike. Let's not get this, you know, let's, let's not make any mistake about this. He is pure when I talk about spirals accuracy, timing. I mean it's it's spot on, you know, arm strength is really good. I'm not going to say it's up in the home. Uh-huh. Aaron Rodgers Russell Wilson category. But it's towards the top ten of football or at least that discussion. And the thing I'll say about Josh Rosen, really kind of impressed me and one of the big questions. I think we all had okay one, I still question the durability does he got enough bulk on them and things like that to take a pounding through a seventeen weeks season. But to answer some questions to me last year, a little bit like Tom Brady, where when he came out of UCLA Mike, a lot of talk about lack of mobility, and that did concern me too for, you know, twenty nineteen you got to be able to move around a little bit, but he does shuffle around the pocket and has a great sense of where the holes are where people are having a feel for people coming around the, the edge of the edge of the offense the line. And when to step up. And if you're watching on TV you see here, beautiful bomb to Christian Kirk. He he's got some things that I really like about a Mike and he understands how to play the game. Yeah. The problem is because the cardinals were so bad last year it makes it harder to, to really assess him, right? Like the complaints with Eli manning. Like how much of it is his fault. How much of it is the team around hitter at fault? How hard was it for you to gauge Rosen given that we didn't see a whole lot from him last year and what we did see was with one of the worst teams in the NFL. Yeah. Well, you know, those are things like you have to talk to yourself, as you watch film and write notes through the year of Joshua. What do you say to yourself? Let's hear the Chris Simms. Inner model hobby talking to myself going. Oh, gosh. Oh, I wish I wish she could have thrown that ball way. But then I got a realistically go. Wait. He's on the fourth step of his drop. And like, you know, the Red Sea parted as offense align fell down. And they got run down. Hey, let me let's not be too critical of Josh Rosen here. There's, there's no quarterbacks that could have got out of that, Jim. Wow. That's those are the things I would say, like, oh, maybe Russell Wilson gets out of that. But nobody else football. So I'm not going to be overly critical of Adrash Rosen that way. Or, you know, you have to go in and you go man, he missed that throw, and then you go back in the play, and you go, okay? Well, yeah. He missed that throw. Nobody's open. And he threw to a guy that wasn't really open. And he tried to put it in a spot. Ooh. Okay. Understand why he tried to throw it. They're the the the DB was trying to undercut it to get an interception because there's no speed at receiver Arizona. So those are the things you have to take into account and not blame the team issues on the quarterback. Sometimes go. Realistically can the quarterback actually succeed in some of these things that I might be harshly. Grading on. And I think that's where you have to have a good way or feel and understand the game. And that was certainly the tough part about Josh Rosen. Did he go up or down from where he was on your list a year ago? He went he went up he did. And I can't even remember exactly where I had him last year. But I still think this is a guy again. We talked about it a lot through the draft with Murray was not that pick a number one is not necessarily an indictment on Josh Rosen. Kyla Murray was that special. I still think Josh Rosen head the jury's out that he I think he could still be a big time NFL starting quarterback. He's got some work ahead of him in a new system down in Miami. And it's gonna be hard because we heard already Ryan Fitzpatrick has the advantage. That is a tough skit system language. Everything you've gotta learn that New England scheme. It's tougher than any other scheme and all the football. Now going into the draft. Last year. You had Josh Rosen at number two behind Josh Allen off five guys taken in round one though, have worked out so far. Is it possible that all five of these guys could end up becoming, I don't wanna say franchise quarterbacks, but not busts? I do. Yeah. I think that's one of the things I took away from last year to go. And I think this is the beauty of the draft last year. Two years ago to we all looked at all five of these guys. At least I did. And you go back to listen to what I said, at the time, I liked all of them. I yeah, you know, everybody had differ rankings, but I went, man. I just don't see very much bus factor in any of these guys at all. And yeah, I think Sam darnold, Josh Allen Baker Mayfield. Man Rosen Lamar Jackson, probably the one, I got the most questions about because he does have to polish up throwing and everything like that. But I think all of them show that they're on the right track. Going forward. Well once upon a time the Oakland, Raiders drafted one of the all-time great quarterback draft bus jamarcus Russell. They let Calvin Johnson stay on the board. The lions got him with the second pick in the two thousand seven draft. And now three years after Johnson's retirement, the lions wanna make nice. Kevin Johnson has a very simple message for the lions on what they need to do to make that happen. We'll tell you what that message is, and we'll go back and forth on whether or not Calvin Johnson, has a point on that issue continues right after.

Don't think people were like I don't need a quarterback. Apparently, it's like the big depth. There's so much defense, and George what do you think? Yeah. Russell Wilson walked into probably wanted to greatest defensive jazz in the NFL. He was a game manager for three years. Yeah. "Feels like we've been here for three weeks. But it's been fun yesterday. At your big CBS press conference. All you guys standing up there. Tony Romo predicted everything. Nate Burleson doing some slam poetry was all a spectacle yesterday. A lot of fun there. We've got a ton of guests today stopping by starting with London Fletcher in about an hour from now as we get closer to Super Bowl fifty three. Good morning, boomer. Our you know, what I'm doing great GIO, and it it has been fun. Yeah. The weather's been not bad. Yes. There was a little cold and windy, but at the end of the day, oh, it's like Super Bowl Sunday is going to be beautiful here in Atlanta. It's not so great back home right now as we speak. So. It's good to be down here. It's it's great everybody starting now to come. If you start feeling the building starting to fill up down here radio row, all the radio stations are starting to show up from all over the place. This place could be in the next few days. You know, it's interesting yesterday, and our press conferences, it's amazing. How many international representatives are here in the media? And how many questions Tony was asked. By the Australians, by by the English by people from all over the place, and it was just amazing walk into that room. Now, I've done this in many years past. But for some reason, it just feels like this Super Bowl is garnering even more attention for whatever reason, I Don the the NFL was obviously had a great year ratings wise, it seems like we're back now with the popularity and then when you take a look at some of the young players in the league, I think the quarterback position, especially when you think about guys like Jared Goff and Carson Wentz and Andrew down being healthy and the bunch of guys that were drafted last year, including Sam darnold. Josh Allen Baker Mayfield. You know? I think that the league is really in a great spot. I really do think it's going to be exciting for years to communist rate personalities, and the popularity is back where it was. About five or six years ago. I think we're past a lot of the controversy. Although I will say today the Commissioner whole state of the league press conference. And you know, the first question is going to have to do with what happened at the end of the New Orleans Rams game in overtime. Yeah. The first question and probably most of the questions are going to have to do with that unfortunately for Roger Goodell probably wants to move on from that. They could have been a nice little tidy week for the NFL was.

So we asked give us a musical theme over the course of the show a musical theme. This is clue number one. I know I think it relates to what we saw last week and how we reacted to that. Like, we get one guess per person per segment, if you've got an idea in the musical theme hit us up on Twitter when it hundred flowers dot com Twitter feed at ESPN, Dr that was Aerosmith sweet emotion you're saying because of the emotion of last weekend. All right. That's it's going to be tied to how. Is that right? If it's right. Okay wrong. Okay. He should do that regardless. And just change the theme which I think I got him during the break that. Yes, she wouldn't let you know. I got twice. I got thrown into break. Now, I'm gonna go with a chain four themes to for two right? I'm gonna go songs with sweet in the title. Know what each one each? Is that right? I like this game. I think we're gonna nail it. Hey, by the way, Mikey see for the sake of honesty, right down the theme and give it to Patrick and a folded a piece of paper we've been change trust that guy Patrick go. Find mike. You're awesome. All right. Yeah. Mel man, who's blown you away in the week of mobile, Alabama and senior bowl, I would say Chris Lindstrom offensive guard from Boston College who has got tremendous versatility Boston College. Love the way they teach and develop lineman. So I would say Chris Lindstrom. I would say Todd mcshay favorite. And he's raved about them all week. But the kid was impressive. And he is perfect for today's NFL. He's small, but he's tough. He's quick lately. Lightning-quick he was average almost eighteen yards of punt return. He was Georgia state's offensive weapon. Dr are you saying this because he's not the five eight guys not six to know, am I heard one more time? I think there was a brick through his at the quarterback is throwing to a five eight receiver. You don't blame the receiver being five eight when the ball's overthrown? If I heard that one more time, I was going to scream a little more than I was screaming. When I was here. It's like, you know, it's up to the quarterback to get the ball to a five three receiver fi five three throat to a six to receiver for six two so penny heart. Well, with great versatility, those kind of guy, I think McLaren went from maybe three four to a two and he would have run great at the comedy will run great at the combine coming up, but he certainly had a really good week. Everybody's talking about my tests. Wet in the past rush sweat had a great story was eighth on the big board back in early October. After you had four and a half sacks the first four games, then he went seven games with two sacks. Then he had a second-half consoled miss and half a sack against I was like to see him dominate a little more during that stretch there. But not sweat in this game where there weren't many first rounders. My test. What was the lead guy? The quarterback store you alluded to. Okay, not being that impressive, and you rougher lot of what a lot of people have said. But you're you're you're my expert on that. Well, I'm not going to say, they were I think Daniel Jones to me wasn't to the and I look at last year you had Baker. And yet Josh Josh Allen Baker Mayfield..

And this group we all say are they just guys or they prospect these are just much guys. I to me, I didn't see anything. Amy, drew, lock Daniel Jones still vying to see who will be the third quarterback taken behind Dwayne Haskins and Cuyler Murray if column or is all went on football, which will find out soon. So I I think that next quarterback is a borderline. I will Greer's and say drew lock dangle Jones or eight quarterbacks I think too many. I don't think you need a quarterback. Don't get enough continuity. You don't get enough wraps. You yet? Eight guys four hundred squad. I don't I'd bring three max. But that's just me. They brought eight so be it. "I gotcha. But Willie says watching today's NBA bad for your health. It depends. If you are a defensive stalwart, if you're all about the foot fire, if you're all about the low scoring games in which we get more block shots that we do three point areas. Well, okay. Yeah. It might be bad on the ticker hard on the ticker. But for the NBA and the NFL for pretty much every sport going right now they recognize. That fans are drawn to. Hi, Jane, prolific offenses, which is rather rules are shading that way. I do college basketball games on TV and radio in my other life and even in the college game. There's no more hand. Checking in fact, there's no more contact essentially every offense. If player has a bubble around him or her no touching of the hair face. Exactly, if you well if you touch the face, you could be tossed out for heaven's sakes. It used to be that the hand was part of the ball. Now, probably the hair is part of the faith, and he can't touch the hair either. It bothers me I love the basketball, but to me becomes more of a skills competition than it actually does become a battle of offense versus defense. Hashtag things that are bad for your health. Josh says, Amazon and other places that deliver pretty much anything and everything to your doorstep is bad. I've been known to order a few things Amazon now, and then, but you know, it's bad for your health. Having packages out on your doorstep all day because now it's become a profession in the United States of America. We have professional box Steelers. Could there be another term for it package Steelers? Package thieves professional package thieves. There are literally people around the country who follow the Amazon trucks and the delivery trucks the mail trucks during the daytime when there are fewer people to be at home. Especially in. Place where it's a lot of nine to fibers. So have you if you are a professional package thief? I would think that would be bad for your health. Only because you're eventually going to get caught people have security cameras now better watch out. Oh, and some people also have guns. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio eight five five two one two four two two seven. But if you don't want to call in your question brass game, anything you can post it on our show Twitter after hours CBS or also on our Facebook page named after the show. We'll get you. Some QB news coming up in ten minutes. And by Huby news. I mean. The Philadelphia Eagles have doubled down. We just gave you the news on Cam Newton. I guess not definitive news yet. But the possibilities when it comes to Cam Newton. I still I can't get over that. I'm still having a hard time absorbing it. I guess if the Indianapolis Colts had said to us ahead of time. Andrew luck is going to miss all of next season. It would have been harder to digest the idea to wrap your brain around. The fact that Cam Newton might fit out an entire year. Yes. Quarterback survive it and come back. Gosh here is in the off season is the shoulder injury. That theory is that he can't recover through the off season. That's the part that really concerns me. So in addition to the Philadelphia Eagles doubling down with their quarterback. Philip rivers delivers his final comments after a disappointing end in the divisional round of the playoffs. And Jerry Jones gets asked the question again about Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott and Jason Garrett. So there's some QB news in there as well. As I was talking about with Dame Brugge ler. There are quarterbacks available in the NFL draft. But not nearly as many as what we had this past year. So remember five NFL QB's taken in the first round of the draft. And why do I call them NFL will because they all played this year and one of them made the postseason Lamar Jackson. He may have saved. John Harbaugh's job. And he certainly has forced Joe flacco out. With the fact that their offense was changed to fit. Lamar Jackson the skill set. And that's how they made the playoffs. There's no going back. Now, they already passed the point of no return. And so you had one of the rookie quarterback's make the postseason. In fact, Lamar Jackson was the youngest QB ever to start a playoff game in the NFL. But then you also had Josh Rosen. Josh allen. Oh, by the way, there's another Josh Allen the draft. But he's not a quarterback. Don't get confused. Josh Allens, not leaving buffalo and reentering the draft. Josh rosen. Josh Allen Baker Mayfield courses at the rookie touchdown passing record with twenty seven passing Peyton Manning. Russell wilson. Rarefied air. All.

NFL Rookie quarterback progress report - who could start in Week 1?

"Mike after the first week of the preseason a lot of people are up in arms and vary excited about we're seeing out. Of the young quarterbacks whether it's Josh. Rosen Josh Allen Baker Mayfield Sam darnold even. Lamar Jackson in. A limited capacity I don't think he's gonna see the field much right but it feels like try it again but it feels like. There you go robot radio let me get that back it feels like, it's trending, towards Sam. Darnold maybe being the one guy of, these rookie quarterbacks that is. Going to keep the streak alive I think of what ten straight seasons a rookie quarterback is starting week one. Week one A lot of. People were very impressed with what he was able to do at that first preseason game although you I thought made a various point that. Look at all that was great there. Were a lot of short throws there again I The the rookie quarterback's all did, things I liked make, no mistake about it. But let's not just, all throw roses. For, everything okay it weren't all. Positives now Sam did. What he was asked to do a lot of those were. Set up to be short passes and he he averaged I think five. Yards per attempt it's not very far but that's. Okay I'm I'm not saying that's, wrong I think it's great I still look back at the I play for the Shawn Watson is I play was a half, roll cut off, half the field it gave him a couple of options or run I mean made it very. Simple which I think. Is just fine to do, a Sam made a couple of other nice, throws, obviously rolling left on the field. The touchdown throw but most of the throws or short throws so and against second and third team or, so that's what I'm saying he did some good things but let's. Let's if you. Want to say okay you think he's not a. Deer Headlight. So, let's start the Sam darnold. Clock going and process. Because this is kind of where. We're are okay I can. Go along with that but don't say well he should be the starter. He's going to be really good based off those. You know x. amount of passes, in preseason game number one that I had a little issue with yeah and you should be and it wasn't too long ago, I think two, thousand nine that a rookie quarterback for the jets that was drafted in the first round showed. All the the word. Was poised right I would, look at the poison Mark Sanchez where's Mark, Sanchez, is he still with the bears I don't I'm? Not sure I don't think he's Suspended for the first four, game I guess that's the answer to the question. But, I believe he is so with. The bears yeah so so that's the situation there so let's let's be, careful what we're seeing in what we're not seeing but it wasn't just what Sam. Was, able to do in that first preseason game now I think they're. Gained, next game is Thursday. Night right on ESPN yes Washington and the jets so they're having some joint practices this week and among those who are also impressed with what they seen Young Sam, darnold a quarterback who really, goes through his business not being impressed, with anybody. And that would. Be Washington's
