"I know that you're jonas artisan spot where they very much like him and they trust him. And i think that's the biggest thing with that position you've got to be able to trust that guy and they know those running backs that people don't ever think about it but the running backs are really the last line of defense against the pass rush. You don't want somebody out there that can pick up the blitz especially in their down situation. So that's what you're gonna look out with those guys. But i think they really impressed on the ground. I think they have done at the same in practice on trae with a ridiculous juke. A spin move on dallin levitt the other day that broke his ankles a whole. That the whole you know sideline jumping so are those impressive camp. But it's it's all about how they try much. Trust them in the passing game. And the other thing jim in charlotte. Listen this is not. It's not a minor thing. Look around the league. And you're hearing you know. Vaccination might be the tiebreaker and a lot of cases So if you're looking at two guys that are of equal potential value in one has a big cap. It like not a big it but for a guy in that position of fairly substantial Salary and is not vaccinated. it could come into play. So it's definitely something to monitor. Cindy gruden cindy gruden back. We're back you know really quickly. That's a great point by adam. Because here's the thing. It's a young offensive line in spots. So they're going to struggle sometimes in the passing game in terms of protecting car. Such a great point batum because you cannot have a young offense of our initiative inexperience off the sign in spots. And then not have a guy who can't pick up the blitz so that's a bad combination so adams right they i'm sure they trust jalen rashard so eight off your dreams. You probably need to keep doing that stuff as well. Other than just kinda scoring touch and all back into say listened to the to the sound bite from grew about those is. He was obviously very impressed yet. But noticed one thing. He said they picked up the blitz. They're watching and that's what they're noticing so. I'm not saying they can't do it. It's going to be about what that film shows and how they do that. The next couple of i wanted to talk to you briefly touch on this but the inexperienced offensive line coming together playing a little bit for the first time. We didn't see you know all of them in full series. But we saw a little bit arrives with like andre. James alex leatherwood. What did you think about those guys in their performance tonight. I you know. I thought they were finding the first the first quarterback adam said it's a it's an exhibition game. I don't think they you know. I don't think nate. Nate peterman got killed So it's just so hard to gauge things in an exhibition this. What if they're playing against twos and threes I you know what. I think. I think we should to make more determination on weight. Sue jon gruden says disease. Even said i gotta watch the tate. He kind of you know paused on that kind of question..

Preseason game here at allegiance stadium bringing the record now to allegiant Stadium to three wins. But that wasn't the story of the game story of the game was really what was like their fans in the stadium further first time. What was it like there. Tonight you know was really cool. Heidi and i. It was cool. Three hours for the game. Mark davis the owner. Who had vowed never to go to a home game without fans and he kept his word. Last year was ear His mom carol was here a lot of politicians and dignitaries and three hours before the game we saw mark davis cut a ribbon kind of a ceremony ribbon with a bunch of other like i said like local celebrities to officially open the stadium to fans he was up in a podium and down below thousands of raider fans kind of looking up at him and cheering confetti going and then when he when he clipped that a ribbon man they they stormed the building and they were excited and happy and just you know just really stoked to be here to cheer their team on for the very first time so it got loud from there. It was loud all night at a sold out. stadium win. Lower fifty thousand actually came fifty thousand one hundred one even tonight. You're going to get some won't come to an exhibition game but it was really loud. Heidi and I think mark davis and his mom and every new organization was really proud to finally open up legion stadium to their fans. Not just that but you mentioned the celebrities. Marie osmond with the star spangled banner santana at halftime annuals had marianne mandelson light. The al davis torch What was that like watching all of those acts and the people they came together for this event. Yeah it was really cool. Mean dr addison lighting. The torch was really cool. They showed her and her husband. The late sheldon adelson. A kind of a memorial to him on the screen yet. A lot to do with the stadium early on we all know that Riyaz men like you said santana I thought it was cool. Heidi up for the game. They honored a frontline workers. Medical personnel You know construction workers in the stadium the honored a bunch of people before the before kick-off dead had a lot to do with the building of this stadium so i thought the raiders played it to perfection in terms of honoring the people who should be honored and getting their fans involved And it was. It was a really cool night And then they won. The game is like you said I wrote the same thing in my com that you set off the top. I think the last graph mccollum was a score of the game. And it for the ringer knows. Good for the raiders. To win i mean they need success anywhere they can find it on the field but in this night. I think everyone would agree in jon. Jon gruden said it was one of the most important games. He's ever coached in. Think about that when it's an exhibition game..

US airlines announce upcoming changes

"The news the other day, and in recent days you've noticed the following American Airlines, claiming that it had as high as an 80% load factor on its flights. Number one. That they're announcing. They're gonna unpardonable the rest of their parked airplanes and that most of them will be back in the air. And may we've seen the story that Delta Airlines as of May one, is no longer going to be blocking the center seat, which means they're gonna be selling up to 100% of the capacity of every one of their flights. We've seen. It was let originally by airlines like Frontier and Spirit, Allegiant, Sun country and Southwest about 70 new routes around the country. And all of a sudden in the last 10 days. Here comes Delta and United American Delta, announcing 36 new routes, American Something like 20 and united 26. I mean, what do they know that we don't know? Of course, for the answer that I go to the man who always knows from Forbes. Dan Reed. How are you, sir? I don't know. Thanks a lot, Dan. This concludes our conversation. We should be your only tip your waitresses. Um, no. Uh Hey, Peter, how you doing? Thanks for having me on Yeah. So I mean, how do you figure all this to do? They really see the numbers started not just two inch up, but to start the climb up. Well, you get into the definitional issue there. What's you know how much they're up? But by how much? Department of Tripped a P ECE Castro Transportation Security Administration tells us that on I believe it was 18 days in March. They cleared 1.4 million or more got over 1.5 million a couple days in their passengers for air travelers through their their airport checkpoints. Well, that's great, considering they were down to, you know. 25,000 day at the at the very trough of the, uh of the event last year, um, and hadn't been over, uh, 100 head bit over a man until just not too many weeks ago. It sounds like they're coming back pretty strong. But then you look at the two year ago numbers and they regularly I mean, almost every day. In fact, only one day in March of 2019 did they not have 2.4 million passengers. Air travelers cleared so they've come back some, but they're still a long ways. They're 40% arm or behind where they were two years ago, which is the First comparable non pandemic affected measuring boy now,

Southwest Airlines Pushes to Expand Amid Pandemic Pressures

"The pandemic has devastated demand for air travel in response. Many airlines have pulled back offering fewer flights cutting jobs and rewriting the route maps yet. During all of this upheaval one carrier stands out. Southwest airlines is taking aggressive steps to expand. It's a high stakes gamble but southwest is betting. It'll help the company emerged from the pandemic stronger than before. Let's take a look at the company. Strategy and wide sky competitor's talking with the journals ala's insider who covers the airline industry for us. Hi allison it's always good to have you here. Thanks for having me so. Allison we should be clear. Southwest is facing plenty of struggles revenue in the third. Quarter is down. It's burning cash and it still dealing with the seven. Three seven max which won't return to service for a while yet but at the same time it's adding cities like palm springs. California steamboat springs colorado. It's also moving into big airports like chicago. O'hare is well. how can this be. yes definitely. there's no airline that has really escaped. The devastating impact of the pandemic and south west is no exception on track to lose money this year. You know really for the first time in in other breaking a forty seven year streak. It's a huge deal for the company. And they're talking about and seriously considering furloughs also for the first time in their history so you know. This is really unprecedented for them. But the strategy of being opportunistic a downturn. That's not that's not unusual for them. That's something they've done time and again in the past in sort of how they've grown throughout their history so in some ways it's it's not surprising to see them doing that again. Okay let's get into specifics. What's the strategy. What opportunity does southwest see here how they explained it was that the way their network is now. They have multiple flights day all of these cities. And that's been you know offering. That kind of schedule is sort of a big advantage for them but now that demand is down so much they just don't need to be offering five six seven flights a day in some of these places so they it means they have extra planes in extra people they need to deploy somewhere else so they sort of looked all over the country in thought like work and we really quickly move. That would kind of help bring in revenue right away for us. And that's how they picked some of these new cities as you mentioned. Southwest may break its profitability streak yet. It does have a lot of things working in its favor. It has less debt and lower costs compared to its rivals southwest. It's hard to say. Any airline is well positioned right now but southwest came into this crisis with a lot of advantages and they had a lot less debt than some of their biggest rivals so even though they've taken on a lot of debt during the pandemic they still they still have more cash than debt which is pretty rare position to be in for an and that's something that sort of gives them a little bit of a cushion and a little bit of flexibility to try things or the rivals like spirit and allegiant watching they offer low fares and find opportunities at empty your airports and is this. A big risk for south west. I was definitely watching. United executive sort of said at o'hare you know. They said we have the high grounds and they're not too worried from from what they said. But you know there are so few people traveling right now in the recovery expected to be so rocky. I i really think airlines are just competing over every passenger one. Great example of that is how the big airlines like united and american delta. Have done away with cheney's or most domestic changes. Anyway you know. That was a huge selling point for south west for years. So that's something that's going to make the competition even more heated. So what could that mean for travelers more options more competitive fares. Yes i mean over the course of its history. Southwest going into a market often brought fares down significantly and sort of got new people brought new people into traveling and something that the department of transportation once called the southwest effect. So i always tends to increase competition and bring down fares when a new entrant jumps into a market alison insider covers the airline industry for the wall street journal. Allison thanks so

Aircraft Delivery Founder Steve Giordano (Co-Founder and Managing Director of Jet Test & Transport)

"But I started jet test. Kind of as a hobby while I was at allegiant early on even when I was based in Vegas. The idea and what does it do? Well so I first and foremost at the time jet test didn't exist. I just blind the line flying de Moines and flying to Bellingham Washington and Fargo and might not you know in the MD eighty and I was flying with this is what I was photos the beginning I was flying with the captain and he said you know we hit it off and he said Hey this weekend I'm burying a D. C. Nine thirty over to Belgrade Serbia and I could use I could use an F. O. and I was like Yeah County, and I've got a passport and I get paid. was. Very. Done for for I L F, C at the time. I don't as they don't remember it could have been. We did a lot for C. we still do for air cap, which is now let's see but I don't remember who the customer was, but we were basically. So he was like a like a freelance. Highlight. For Higher. He just went in and jobs and I had no idea that existed and so it was an opportunity for me someone that just loves to travel I had never really had the experience of flying internationally besides Mexico and Canada and stuff. So of course, I jumped on that opportunity and I I still remember that whole trip like like it happened yesterday because it was my first time flying across the ocean. Sure. It was show. You. How long were you gone from the time started to the time you returned home. I think it was probably done about three or four days. So we got over there, and then of course, we hung out that we hung out for a day. You know nowadays we get well forget it. I, mean cove it makes it impossible to even leave the airport for the most part, but that's another story. But you know at the time. Even, we're so busy we we generally move from trip, but at that point in time, I had never been to Eastern Europe and I had gone wants to Ireland and wants to Germany as you know as a as a team but. Anyway. It was it was awesome. We walked around drink beer and had good food at the restaurants and and it was just it was just such a cool experience that the first thing that I did when I got back with say what's next? When can I do this again? And it turned into, you know I was I was I made myself available and I was ferrying airplanes mostly DC nine, some dash eight, some MD eighties because that was all I was typed on. And I was doing a trip every couple of months and whether it was domestic ferry you know or flying over to Asia. Started kind of doing the same thing as him and. What happened from there is you know I started getting type ratings I just I wanted to do it more and I wanted to make myself available on more more equipment. So the first thing I did was I went out and bought a seven thirty seven type. Crossed when you did it. I think it cost about eight nine thousand bucks. Yeah. It's really almost about the same as it costs today but you know I did it in an old seven, thirty, seven, two, hundred simulator which you can't find nowadays right And then and then I flew right seat on a lot of ferry flights until I got the experience and the confidence to to

Big airlines fight with smaller ones over airport rights

"The airlines are fighting with smaller ones over airport rights. Federal officials want to let major airlines keep valuable takeoff and landing slots at some big U. S airports, even if they don't use them all during the pandemic. Move's being criticized by smaller airlines like Spirit and Allegiant, which want a chance to expand of the big airports. FAA plans to extend the current waiver to use it or lose it rules regarding slots and Kennedy and LaGuardia airports in New York and Reagan National near Washington. American, United and Delta are pushing for the waiver to be extended into next March.

"This other nonsense it doesn't actually have to do with what we're trying to accomplish. What we're trying to get to understand is we're trying to get to it just it just it feels like everybody's beating their head into a wall and so many people want good things in what positive changes. But they're not allowed to ever get to there because we're stuck on arguing about little. Minutia in this whole battle. If you WANNA call it that I'm just if you hear that I'm just completed frustrating my voice it is because I don't know I hope that there's solid things that are listed and say, Hey, we want this this this and this, and that we can understand that we should debate these topics instead of getting all these other issues and all these other elements and all these other emotions in anger into it i. Think one of the most ironic things and all of this is those protesting those walking out of games to me if they really want to get to the people that can enact change whether it be attorney general's politicians that ever the ironic part to me is they have to have the support of the owners of those teams and the teams are predominantly white billionaires and you're asking black athletes millionaires to go through them and I my question is. I don't know if the owners have shown enough to make you believe some have some haven't that they will do what it takes I just don't think the athletes protesting are going to in the long run and after. I think they the help of owners who might have large more juice on the federal or local level and I think there's a there's a you know there's a split there where I just don't know if these protests are enough for owners to put themselves out there because I'm not so sure they're always in lock stock and barrel with the athletes. So matter what they say publicly. I think they're usually not for the most part the interests are not aligned in. That's that's been part of the problem too I think we've had a lot of owners start to come around to at least paying lip service to understand I WANNA learn we'll do this but then where does it go and and the players I feel like had. This. Moment of okay. We're not taking the floor. We are going to do something we're going to figure something out. And then you hear all this backlash of like spoiled Whitey baby's okay. But you're always have that's right. But you got such a hindrance to it like to actually understanding problems are actually understanding, but you're going to beat yourself over the head at them because you know there are people who will never change in that sense. That that in in you know entices your frustration. It's so throws off any kind of meaningful like movement or any kind of meaningful progress and I think that's the goal of a lot of people is to corrupt what actual messages get you distracted and start arguing about other nonsense, and then all of a sudden it's like status quo again. That word is going to be in this endless in the circle and it's just it's so frustrating. I don't even like I don't even know what to say about it. I. Don't know what we should like. The first steps should be taken because I just don't think people. That there is things to solve if people want to be like everything's fine because everything's with you like that's just so selfish but that's that's where we are I will say this about them leaving bubbles and hubs and whatever I do believe that their platform has much bigger light China if they stay in and play because I also think once you leave, let's say the bubble look these things as we know our might not change in your lifetime and my lifetime we hope they change next week. That's probably not going to happen when you make the decision not to play anymore to call off a season than how do you come back you know what I mean. You'RE GONNA YOU'RE GONNA come back next season. What if everything's the same? So I think they should stay there and use that platform to where instead of dispersing that you can disperse make changes in your own community I guess you do that but on a national level I think they should stay because if you cancel this season. and. You still have shootings. Next year can come back and play. And then we heard you know one of the things that we heard from NBA players was that they had the meeting they it sounded like emotional. There's a lot of anger and passion that was that was happening and they were closer to saying cough the whole season and said, okay, we'll come back. We'll sleep on it from what we have heard. They provided a list of things that they want to see start to. Be enacted start to be discussed starts we talked about and then they can move forward from there and hopefully that's true and hopefully there's a lot of really good steps on there that can start to be taken, and then we start to move on. But then all of a sudden today you've already got like, Oh, you're you're backing down your your like again well, they can't win they're caught up going to win now but. I, I don't know how to get rid of those voices are how to you can't stop that from happening but that is it's working though it's working to distract the conversation. So we never actually start to move forward because we're caught up in all these other. Things that are going on and social media is great on a lot of levels. It's terrible and a lot of levels. I am one hundred percent in I live on social media basically. So maybe I'm in that bubble to where it's just like you know no matter what happens everybody has these different reactions in this. Societal issue can you think of where there isn't a lot of outside noise barring a comment from the Vegas Golden Knights where that outside noise doesn't try to come in and disrupt the real messages. It's just not. It's not just racial equality or police predate this happens all the time. Of course it does. It always happened. Then I think that's part of why you know. Maybe. It's just how we. Disagree now in the in the seventeen hundreds, you'll disagree by standing up on a hill and screaming to the city, and then somebody else would scream their message back or whatever, and that's how things got kind of you delayed. You didn't make progress because that was happening or your. Scream can't hear you scream pleasing cryer lost his voice. I don't know I, don't know. I I, feel like there's there's a lot that we need to discuss on a lot of issues that need to be worked on and and progress it needs to be made, but it just doesn't happen because we we allow all these other all this other nonsense of people that are just trying to sabotage everything and it gets sabotaged and you know may maybe that's always happened like I said I don't know it just feels like it's happening now because a lot of people feel like they're losing their power, whatever nonsense power they felt they were supposed to have or their do by birth to have and it's it's The everybody being equal and everybody being treated the same take away your advantage of what you think you deserve for being born better than everybody else which is just such garbage. But that that's that's what I'm seeing it. Just it's so frustrating all the time and I can't even articulate it because I'm just like. It's so passionate is so much. You know it's so much vitriol on both sides and everybody's passionate about it but. Men. The. People that are fighting progress in fighting change. You would hope at some point have to come to grips with the fact that they were wrong and that they were trying to stand in the way of what is right but I just I don't think it's going to happen and I don't I don't know that it needs. That we need that I don't know that we need people to finally see that they're wrong or method wrong or we just need them to die or move on or whatever. But. It's just it's. It's. So it's so fresh because you know where history is going in. You know we're going to get there eventually. But how long is it GonNa take people that are trying to fight for now ever get to see it I don't know. there's no chance impossible to give this subject to the deepest most profound comments and opinions but we tried to do our best and look we're not stick to sports, guys neither Ataman and I are. "Day I just thought thing today with Allegiant air there they're struggling man but there's no question about it every airliners and you know I know the airlines have made it the best they can have a situation by carrying packages and cargo and things like that but I mean with people aren't getting on planes in pain you know good money to do that this industry is really hurting the question is how long are they going to be heard exactly let's talk during the Asian expert about it Jay Ratliff Jay how are you today I'm doing well I'm glad you guys are surviving in between all the jobs that we have press conferences you have to manage with we got a lot of balls in the air I will so Jay you are your thoughts on this illusion the the governor of Kentucky just gave the best years gave CV GW was forty three million dollars and are they going to trade to the user what do they do with that but they they don't help the airlines right because what we what I was saying and allegiance they're basically almost shut down well I mean not only a legion I mean look at look at every airline in the country you have instead of being a two point five million people traveling everyday were down to ninety three thousand in the course of a day ninety seven percent drop in travel so you're saying every airline affected I mean I think I stole legions losing two million a day but I know United Airlines reported they're losing a hundred million dollars a day delta sixty million a day so when you look at this it's not a lesion it's the entire industry across the board that is being affected by this horrific drop in travel with unprecedented we've never seen this kind of a shut down of commercial aviation in the last sixty to seventy years now J. is there a point is there a number I think you said ninety three thousand flights a day verses I believe a little over two to a half million bike is our point that the airlines get to where they say look it's it's actually better for us financially to just not have any flight score on outdoor cargo or otherwise in and save the the expenses I guess probably that that's a thought but the problem is they can't because yesterday when they reached the final agreement with the government with regards to the bailout they accepted the strings that were attached to that and the strings include you know no stock buy backs no you know we get a certain executive compensation has to stop and you can't get rid of you the employees and master of the end of September Hey and you have to maintain your service between the cities that you were flying to prior to March first that big described it is at least a minimal service which means that the normally a flight or two a week would suffice so you may see that in there if there's a flight that might go from Cincinnati to ask or what might happen to be that normally operates four times a day you might see an airline drive Baxter one flight a day or one flight every three days or one flight every five days based on the demand and then they'll coordinate with the people that were scheduled to fly work with them so that they can try to accommodate them as much as they can but yeah I've seen some of the articles on legion I'm taken okay but I mean it's it's everybody across the board is being affected by this and again the problem with airlines as if it was a winter storm if it was something they could track if it was something that they could kind of you know position themselves for so they know where you know the other end was going to be to what was going on that's one thing we're talking about something where you know the governor of Ohio says today that you know we could be looking at an issue for the next year or longer with regards to you know things returning to some sense of normalcy with vaccines and other things in it that no this really just rattling the industry right now because they don't know when things are going to return and if we do third pitcher to hit the point where things start to shift hopefully the end of summer how many people are gonna want to return to travel ten point being cautious on okay is there gonna be a relapse of this or we have another round because there's gonna be a lot of future fears it will continue to plague the travel industry so what was this thing that you had sent in sent out the other day in your weekly memo about a delta flight attendants told two on stay quiet on a positive called the test is that right your last Thursday the delta get more pointedly sent a memo to their flight attendants on the flight crews basically saying if you test positive for the coronavirus don't posted on social media and we don't want you reaching out your co workers we have an established policy in the house that we will contact those people that you are connected with well you know maybe the flight attendants fly with the same group every month and if you are tested and come back as positive the first thing you're gonna do is you're going to notify the people you work with Hey this is what happens this is a test and still get yourself tested in flight attendants really are pushing back on this thinking delta if he if I want to release my medical condition I'm able to do so obviously other people can't because of the protections of our medical records but if I reach out to a co worker it's my duty to let them know what's going on because how long is it gonna take delta or any other airline to to notify everybody that has been perhaps affected and you know they should know how we're going to continue to do this and it and I certainly side on the side of the flight attendants the employees because American Airlines I think is a hundred and some flight attendants they've tested positive they had to they passed away and it's a very close knit you know group of individuals these men and women that are the flight attendants any ideas if I test positive you better believe I'm gonna let the people that I work the closest west that I many times been more time than I do with my family what's going on absolutely J. A. before that you got wanted to ask you this and I I saw a stat this morning it is said that seventy percent of Americans want international flights pause okay so let let's say things start an open back up and we're starting to get on back on a normal life seventy spent percent Americans still want international flights pause just because you know concerned about that's how you know viruses and pandemics spread let me ask you if I mean what would that do to the airline industry say they can do domestic flights unlimited things are good but they can't do international flights it is that a crippling blow or can they survive something like that public can survive in a look we get a lot of profit from the international routes but look back in January when we knew that this was coming from from from Asia you know president trump made his decisions with regards to Hey I'm I'm I'm limiting access of course flights coming in we had airlines such as delta American and United have a very strong presence in Asia automatically so you know what we're going to throttle back our flights because the demand is not there so I can't really think it would be you know when things do return to normal if the demand for that travels not there the airlines are going to operate you know near empty flights still allow the demand to dictate when they return to some sort of a normal routine of course the global economy's going to dictate a lot of that the the domestic economy as well but didn't kind of a wait and see type of thing to see what what goes but yes they can certainly operate the vast majority of the domestic flight a small percentage of the international flights to some affected areas I mean if there's little issue to European all the flights will put put kind of pick up and continue as need dictates what the problem is there there's really no way until we get to that point they were going to be able to properly measure what an accurate number of flights an appropriate number of flights would be given the demand is taking place at the time because right now the demand is simply not there and until it picks up you know you're gonna have a lot of things that are going to change and when it does start to return to normal the leisure travel will be very slow to return because of the fact that people party canceled a vacation this year they're saying forget this will wait till next year and look there's a lot of business individuals that own businesses within a lot of money on travel they now find out that they can do business very well through video conferencing some of those businesses will say you know what if we can save a lot of money by doing this in the house and it not be that big a difference perhaps face to face meetings are that require aired and many companies will inevitably cut back on their road.

"A like Adams idea fight island for if it does happen We can move everything to fight island and I like this one poster. I saw on social media by boss logic. Who comes up with these very creative posters and had doctor strange kind of Bringing everybody teleporting them onto the island. Keep PEOPLE SAFE SO. I think that would be a great plan on when we come back. We're going to bring you back in time. We're going to teleport you. Back to the raiders. Three as draft picks in Raider history. But for now let's take a quick break. Here word from our sponsor will be right back here on vacation. They say a healthy gut means a healthy. You favor apple cider vinegar shots bottle. This feeling into the convenience of a two ounce shot better digestion stronger immune system and the lowering of blood. Sugar levels are all just some of the benefits to shooting daily Faber shot. Their proprietary blends are raw and organic and mixed with other functional ingredients to create a better tasting experience. First Time shooters can go to drink favored DOT COM. Welcome back to Vegas nation everybody. I'm your host. Heidi Fang with our raiders writers Adam Hill and Vinnie Bonsignore and Review Journal sports columnist. Ed Grainy here we're going to start walking you through who we fit. Fake were the three best draft picks in Raider history. So of all time I mean there are a ton of picks that the raiders have had here that have delivered for this team. If you just kinda run through some names off the top like gene upshaw Marcus Allen. D'amato are Shell. There's a ton of guys here that have contributed to this team. That you could look at and say are the three best of all time but for me. I'll just get this thing started Nelson to Brown and I think it's a physician that the raiders would be looking to upgrade this year wide receiver nineteen eighty eight draft. Pick for the team. He was the all time leader in Games. Played for the raiders. He said a ton of franchise records with receptions receiving yards punt return yards users. Somebody I think that when I look back on the eighties and the raiders. I thought Tim Brown everything that he did with this team from eighty eight on was pretty amazing a nine time pro bowler and I just can remember kids in my grade just always walking around with his Jersey. I grew up in the bay area so I think he was. Just somebody that a Lotta people looked up to and eventually other players tried to emulate Adam. Who Do you have? What are we doing? Third-best or I pastor. We do an order here was I think it's just you know. Three best. Draft picks in raiders. History that you could think of At calling the three busters. Because I got the idea after seeing all these things like you can only keep three quarantine and so we'll just go. I guess it'll be four because it has all of our pigs here fair enough man like I always WanNa pick Charles Woodson. Because he's you know one of my favorite players ever being in Michigan fan growing up and obviously had a great career but he's a pretty high paying. I think you have to look further down the draft a little bit I'm GonNa go picking Ken Stabler in the Second Round Looking back a pretty good selection. He went on of course to win a league. Mvp The NFL passing touchdowns two times He was obviously one of the great names. Great faces a in franchise history news a second round pick which the same goes for how long to which is right up there so. I'm sure he might be on the minds of somebody else but I I think Ken Stabler in the second round is pretty good. Pick any taken while. You're one of the things real quick when I when I look at the raiders draft history. It's pretty spectacular The Pixel came up with that. It kinda shows that they were a little bit ahead of the curve on the whole scouting game and You Know Al Davis did surround himself with with tremendous football minds. It wasn't just him. He had a lot of help along the way. But for me you know especially when I was younger and and watching Kenny. Stabler who was a tremendous number two picks I can pick Or round pick but I used to always marvel. At how much time can you save will throw the ball? He would just sit back. They're kind of dancing around a little bed. You know. Sort of tiptoeing fee. Tipton his feet tiptoeing asleep and then boom you know. Destroy a secondary with the pinpoint. Pass the cliff branch or or something like that bullet the cough but as always wondering how the heck did this guy get so much time. Well there was a great offensive line in front of and I think the leader of that offensive line was not shot Who was a hall of Famer Multiple Pro Bowlers To Super Walls And so I always felt like he was the key to that offense of line. There are some other great players are at. Shell was there as well. But but gene show was upshot was the was the leader of one of the best offensive lines of all time. So for me on that would be the greatest fiction writer history and Ed who is greatest. Pick here of his driving through addresses or better ones but I'm GonNa go with the guy. Adam said for this reason because I actually think Charles Woodson played above the number four overall pick which is usually a pretty difficult thing to do your number four overall but Two guys picked out of them. Were Ryan Leaf and Andre Wadsworth. So big mistakes there obviously I know there is need back then with lief. We know what happened to him? But the thing that's impressive to me about Charles Woodson was. He started one hundred fifty one hundred fifty four games but was when he came back he still started off. Forty eight games. He played one of few super bowls. Nine time all pro. If there is such a thing as you can play better than your draft pick at number four I think Charles Woodson did it He's defensive player of the year so even as good as I think they thought he'd be. I think he was even better so I think that guy was unbelievable. Us heisman guy. Defensive Guy from Michigan I thought he was just awesome so I know his pick fourth overall but I think even played above that Charles Woodson's and interesting when because this past season I think you and I added an atom as well we were all up in Green Bay and Charles. Woodson's out there on the field during the Raider Green Bay game and it's so crazy. How many Raider fans actually made it out there as well to be able to. Kinda cheer them on E. was I think they're as part of a Green Bay celebration. But I definitely always with the raiders. In their hearts seasons he played in with the packers sandwiched in between his time with the raiders so very very When you look at that position and cornerback there is very few who played the positions like Woodson. I love that picks so I think that actually just kind of does make three in some sense because I think Adam you were thinking about Woodson as well in your top picks but you went for deeper in the draft so yeah this has been kind of interesting to revisit. Some of the best draft picks. And what we're GONNA do tomorrow as well is get back into this. Mock draft will give you a two point. Oh version of the mock draft once we kind of look over a picks that could come into the raiders hands in the twenty twenty nfl draft and we will again be doing live shows with that. "Talk about three guys that you can keep as the three worst. Draft picks in raiders history. And I think As we were doing some talks yesterday about this we all kind of have in mind. Who are number one is but I would like to get from you a name. You would put in your worst. Three draft picks in raiders history. Okay so I'm going to stay away from the obvious one because I think we're all GonNa pick that Yeah I talk the talk. Yes Well this went to my kid but this guy went to my high school for the first two years before he transferred. I was a senior when he was a freshman. I remember when he came on modernities campus. You know he was the next Who's John Elway? Only as left-hander? I actually hooked up with him for an interview years later when he was playing in a band called scurvy and there's outside of a bar called the Causa and San Diego down to the airport. He was really cool. I watched a documentary on but todd. Miranda was twenty four th over on ninety one You know the drugs got to him. and in two seasons he started eight games in three touchdowns in nine picks who's three and five overall Post Post football became an artist. Like I said if you watched the documentary and it's fascinating with his father. We all know the story. So stay with the obvious guy. And I'll say my number two number two all time bust in the franchise history buff. I. I'll go with him as my top one for now Avoiding the obvious one is todd. Marin of each and Marina Vich the guy who is in the same draft class as Brett farve but I remember them calling the test to quarterback but he had been somebody because from infancy basically like. His father was training him from day. One to become a quarterback and this guy may be it was cracking under pressure on an atom. What do you think about this pick? And who do you want to add to the list? I mean that's solid Certainly that's that's a good pick Mind that I definitely think. And it's it's more just wear. He went and who went around him than anything But Robert Gallery was a guy if if you will remember what he was like coming out of college. He was regarded as like the best offensive line prospect in decades. Like it was just so much hype around this guy and he ended up being. I'll say a bus but he you know he wasn't a great tackle certainly was awful at that position he had some okay years at guard. He wasn't like horrific in out of the league. I think is the raiders for about six years. But if you go back to two thousand four. He went number. Two overall look around. Who was picked in that draft number one went ally manning so he was off the board after gallery. Went number to Larry Fitzgerald goes number. Three Philip rivers goes number four. Sean Taylor goes number five. Who could have been one of the all time? Greats of his career hadn't been so tragically cut short. Kelley winslow the second which Maybe character issues. There could have prevented him for going. Roy Williams went seven. Who's another pro bowl? Guy De Ngelo Hall went eight seven of the top eight picks in that draft Played in pro bowls and then he looked even later in the first round. Guys like Ben Rothlisberger. Jonathan Vilma Will Smith Vince will for all those guys go in the first round. In the raiders settled on Robert Gallery who never played in a pro bowl and was very disappointing pick. Yeah actually. That was he was my number two on my list. So Vinnie. Who Do you have here The three whereas draft pigs. You can only keep three. Who's one of your guys here that you think failed the raiders? Well Robert is a great pick by the way I think he. What did he have like? Didn't you have like twenty twenty four reps on two hundred twenty five on the bench? That was just like astoundingly. Bad for out for a guy of his size That should've been a red flag. We'RE GONNA go with Mark Wilson. Sure people quite remember him but At the time that they drafted him in nineteen eighty in the first round so decent quarterback at Byu. There's a question about it. But also the raiders had Jim Plunkett and So was real curious on why they would they would. They would roll the dice right there with Mark Wilson and then to justify the pick They would periodically you. Know Insert Wilson in as a starter. Plunkett back on the Benton frog about Plunkett who had won two super bowls You know with the raiders was going to end up winning another one But in the all throughout there was turmoil. Because you know. Wilson's supposed to be the quarterback of the future plenty was playing good and everytime plunkett would take take a step back and they'd put Mark Wilson and it just became this huge unneeded controversy. So so my guy is Mark Wilson Former quarterback at Byu. The raiders didn't need a quarterback right. Then they they reach for him in the first round and kind of causal obita chaos havoc From that point on hey does have a super bowl ring now. Is He gets the championship team. Nineteen eighty so. Yeah when you look back on it. I think that we can all agree about another quarterback. Here that is definitely my number one. Pick of the top bus for raiders draft picks and that would be jamarcus Russell. I mean number one in two thousand seven and there were a lot of lofty expectations on this guy and I think part of what had happened with him is like a kind of similar to. Marin of age he fell into the world of drugs and I I think it was scissor. P- that he became famous for because of the it was like robitussin mixed with grape juice. X. Some kind of cough syrup concoction that he would drink The lead to his demise and he gained all this weight. I mean when you a-a-and on Jamarcus Russell. And what do you remember about him? Stands out about him to you as being one of the top readers. Bus The game against Notre Dame. I think that changed. I think that put everyone in his mind that he was something that he wasn't Held out missed training. Camp didn't play 'til the end of two thousand seven started just one game. He was a disaster for the beginning. I think he completed like fifty two percent of his passes You know the wheels came off by a third years. I I really. I'll always remember that game because I'm a notre dame band and he just tore them up and the weighted announcers talk about him Big Strong huge arm and I think people just got completely infatuated with that guy off one game and Al Davis had the first overall selection ano- seven decided to get the quarterback and we know what happened Kid was arrested for codeine. Cough Syrup. News a disaster from the beginning so this is no doubt I think we're they picked him first. Overall selection is by far the biggest bus an issue the franchise Adam Wisdom. Marcus Russell your number one. I don't like doing that because it's too easy but yeah I think it's It's just so memorable and stands out in so many people's minds that it's tough to go in any other direction So yeah I think he's He's the number one guy in terms of bus in this franchise history and Vinnie after you. Was there anyone else that stood out besides jamarcus Russell in in the top three that you would say was a major bus for the raiders. Jamarcus Russell is definitive. Worst Tech and I agree member lane. Kiffin was it was the head coach. Didn't want Jamarcus Russell and you know I'm not sure why you hire a coach An offensive minded coach and don't heed his advice On on on the most important position in the field on the field. And let's also remember. They had a chance to to draft a guy by the name of Calvin Johnson a great wide receiver. Who Lane Kiffin actually wanted So it wasn't just that they you know missed horribly on on Russell it could have had a hall of fame wide receiver in Calvin Johnson. And that would have made a big difference for the raiders during those years and there were some other names like. Dj Hayden. Rinaldo McLean another one. That stands out that. I think that we mentioned was Darius Hayward Bay taken in the draft before Michael Crabtree who later ended up with the raiders but I think when you compare careers these are guys as well that could have been that consideration will give him honorable. Mentions for the worst three. I mean but if you only can pick three I Love Ed's pick of Todd. Myrna Vich Jamarcus Russell and Robert Gallery. Those remind three there Yeah I think this is something that when you look over it always looks. Some of these guys looked really good on paper. Like you know but When it came down to their NFL careers not not so good. So Yeah they'll do it in the point that gets driven home. Here is the Raiders. Have done a poor job a drafting and why. Mike Mayock Jon Gruden. Tandem needs to be good in that area and so far so good But I mean I think I counted. It's tanner under ten players. That are left on the roster from when Jon Gruden I got here a couple of years ago So it's not going to be much longer before probably a bunch of those guys. Those remaining guys are no longer here as as well. Also it really shows you. How bad the raiders drafted That they're that they had the completely flip it over In these last couple years. We'll continue to do that. But you know when you have when you can almost argue that jamarcus. Russell isn't the worst. Pick in your franchise history. It shows you that the drafting hasn't been all that good Especially recently Up until your these last couple of years. Yeah I mean you make a great point there have any because if you look over the team right now the full overhaul ever. Gruden and may out. There really are only a handful of guys left. A lot of them stole on the offensive line That remain from the I guess past era and You have a couple other guys on there still that are around like Derek Harper. So but long when you look over all the major spots on the team especially on defense right now you're getting a full overhaul and as the draft gets closer. "In additional value through controlling those energy services. You know, they've got a strong case to make their. Yeah. And because they have that massive customer base. They can flip a switch and suddenly dominate some kind of service. So now, I I want to well, I guess we can come back to this and weaknesses, but I think. They can flip a switch and sell a lot of things that seems true and clear to me. It is not at all clear to me that they can flip a switch and dominate the market for say load control for residential thermostats, not entirely clear to me, that's true. But Gama's on could potentially dominate in the contractor business, right? If they can get someone to come over and set up my patio furniture and my grill or do some basic services for me based on something that I've bought why can't they get an energy efficiency contractor over to my house. Why can't they start dominating? And lead generation for solar power. They have so much customer data. I agree with you that. Interaction with electricity markets is very different. But they can certainly sell me more products and more contracting services around those products, and that to me feels very meaningful. That's definitely possible. And in fact, you know, Amazon has built up this Amazon home services business, which is trying to do exactly what you described. I just don't think I think we have a tendency especially with Amazon to assume Amazon enters a business it will win and that is true of a lot of things. But it's not always true. They they have tried to do things that haven't worked. And you know, you got to keep in mind. These are big companies. They've got lots of divisions that don't necessarily talk to each other. They're not perfect right know, so selling leads is a good example, Google has project sunroof and they've had projects on roof. Which is you know, it was originally Allegiant engine for residential solar. They've had it for a very long time, and it still exists, and it still generates leads, and you know, I think they've transitioned it a bit. And so it's. No longer trying to be monetize that way. And but you know, it didn't take over the market which brings us to weaknesses. We'll go through the list again and talk about how each of these competitors may be hindered by their own inherent weaknesses. And I guess I'll start with utilities because I wanna get your response to, you know, my thoughts on on this particular competitor utilities, obviously have a lot of incumbent advantages. But those advantages can be distinct disadvantages as well. As an incumbent. You tend to be much more conservative and utilities, certainly have a more conservative culture, particularly regulated utilities. They are guided by regulation, so although they know the regulatory environment. Well, and have a wheel the lot of lobbying power. They also rely a lot on regulation. And when you're building your business by the book, it can cause you to overlook other. Competitors who may circumvent regulation for a while before, you know, regulators catch up to the threat..
