"Adrian Gibson is the clinical director at a new leaf. She helps lead the prism group that's offered at both their Misa in Glendale clinics, which is an outreach group just for the LGBTQ plus population where a lot of times groups can be psycho educational, and they could be Therapeutic they can be support. The group is focused on later elementary and early adolescence as they navigate challenges we all face. They're trying to figure out who they are, what they're about what they want to be known for who they're going to be when they grow up, in addition to concerns specific to growing up in the LGBTQ community, it can be a very traumatic process for any teenager to be going through this, but I think throwing in the sexual orientation and gender identity. I think one of the things that they struggle the most with is the Trauma that can be created, Gibson says. The best thing for LGBTQ youth is to offer support and work to prevent bullying a lot of the formation that takes place. It's much more successful when a teenager is struggling through that, and they find themselves in a community that's very welcoming, very accepting. That's why they've also started school based services to try and create a more supportive environment where kids often need it Most.
