"Hanging up. He didn't kill himself with his people. I mean in, like mistakenly blurred out some small government policy, but I made didn't help himself. I don't think he's winning anybody over anymore. Buddha, judge I thought did pretty well you know, he the Alfred Newman thing from Trump is my favorite things ever. Really? Is it really all I can see now? But he's, he's smart. He's. Think about a general election against him against Trump. You have total white and black opposite forces. Right. Like you have this. You know, Trump is more excitable. He's in your face and this guy's like villains. Yeah. Nuanced, Tom and we'll spoken that would be great and, and gay. But. But it's a big deal. Nineteen white. That's true cancel councils, that out. And might you know. Opposite policies opposite approach is opposite levels of interest in hot supermodels. They're all you have all the different. I mean are males. If I was gonna say that who you talking about talking about. But 'age yeah. Most schmo, Trump. Yeah. That's true. There you go. So buddha. J B, I think all heated to do is show that he belonged on stage. And he did that. I think, well he outperformed pretty much everybody else I think, with one exception, and I would say that's Kamla Harris Harris again. Man, we've been talking about this going, though. I well she's going somewhere, I think, in the short-term sh- and I don't think she's a perfect candidate. I she's not going, she's not going to perform that. Well in every debate she has to watch the Romney problem from last time because I think Romney had this great debate, and then all of a sudden well, you know, he started got his own head, he stopped doing the things he did in the first debate as went on. She needs to figure out a way to, to replicate that performance, but I mean that was a that was the single best performance. I've seen in a large debate field that I can remember. I exactly opposite perspective. I totally get where you're coming from on that. And that's what everyone else was pretty much saying that I was checking this morning, they're like, oh, my gosh. Trounced, because she became the prosecutor that was that was my first huge strike against her as she became the prosecutor because. That's why everyone hates her. That's one of the black community is not voting for her there. There's something with Biden. They don't like her as they were calling her the cop, you know, the cop that was, like, you know, coming down hard on, you know, minority communities in California. I don't think that that team through it all in that performance last night. I mean you're right. Like there's an attack sign of attack on her that which is accurate what you're describing. But like that was her just picking Biden apart. And on that issue too on race. I mean there's no way Biden one that, that back and forth. But when twenty nineteen year old guy, you can't win the black woman right? The black already does not trust her because of those reasons and she personified it reasons. Like somebody. I know. Right. I will say this about Kamla Harris, the things that when you when you're a democrat like Harris, the things you're hiding from in the democratic primary or the thing she's gonna put in her own advertisements when it comes to the general, she's going to be able to actually claim all these. I put people behind Jay tough on crime. Now, look, is she going to be no? She's, she's a socialist. She's she's tough on crime for the democratic primary, but that that will be something crime. She wants to abolish ice. She's always badmouthing ice. Right exactly that cancels that I'm with you on that. But she'll be able to sell that I think to, to, to the in the general election audience, intellectually helper. Record and California. And this is the second thing..

And I've heard that. Get where that's coming from, especially when you see what goes on with some of the opinion hosts on this network. I mean when you got Tucker Carlson, saying that immigrants, make America dirty when you've got Laura Ingraham's comparing detention centers with children in cages to summer camps. But I also believe that even though some of those hosts are not always there in good faith. I think a lot of people tune into this network who do it in good faith. So isn't it? I don't know that you can measure the diameter of the event horizon to the event horizon, I think then is the would you count the event horizon as the size of the black hole or is the event horizon, just because we talked about this other podcast. 'cause I thought there was also some we talked about it with with Jonah because size in the middle. 'cause the event horizon itself is the point at which once you get beyond it, nothing can escape light light. That is inside the event the radius of the event horizon even light will fall into the black hole and become more positive..

"Listen to part time genius, and we're talking about the rise of the American supermarket. So gave I thought it'd be a good time to shine his spotlight on what's maybe the most unsung here of the supermarket. The bar code aka the universal product code or the UPC and UPC's obviously important because they allow story to keep track of its inventory and easily pull up information on each of these items that they sell. But today we're so used to the system that is pretty easy to forget not only how revolutionary this idea was, but also just how necessary became to the growing grocery industry. And so what makes you say that? So when these all in one supermarkets became the norm in the US doors actually began stocking more distinct items than ever and you know, keeping track of all of this became a logistical nightmare, and that's without factoring in how hard it must have been for cashiers at the checkout lanes, right? Like I mean, they had to look up the prices on like hundreds or even thousands of different items. Okay. Yeah, I see. What you mean? But I mean, it's wild to think about, but that king Cullens store, I mentioned the the first supermarket, it only stocked about two hundred different items, and that was considered a pretty extreme level of variety for the time. Sure. But you know, you fast forward today when the average grocery stores stock something like forty thousand unique items. I mean, there's no way we could manage. You know, that kind of inventory without barcodes, and of course now use barcodes for just about everything. Not just groceries. Exactly. Have you seen those early mad magazine covers when they first put barcodes on the covers? No. What what was this is? So like the editors absolutely hated that they had to put bar codes on the covers. So they treated each one like a revolt and like on one cover, they had this like extra large bar code just to jam the system, and they had one that was like overgrown. And Alfred Newman was like trimming it with a lawnmower like one of those push mowers and you know, they hit the thing because it ruined their pristine covers. But. Obviously, the supermarket industry is where the whole thing started in the forties, and it made tons of cents for them, like just over a decade into the existence of supermarkets, grocers were desperate for any way to get customers through their stores more quickly. One store manager.
