You know, it is wide enough where you could stick a quarter in it. Or if it's wider at the top. And narrow at the bottom. That would imply that it's a settlement crack. So you know people don't need toe freak out just because there's a crack, but it certainly makes sense. To get it looked at and you know, we That's the one thing you know people can count with us. We're going to. We're going to tell him what it is and tell him what it is and benefits nothing or something that they need to monitor. They're gonna hear that. You know you can't really You can't really just assume anything, you know. Unfortunately, there are people out there in our industry that turn every crack into something that you know they have. And today we have a question from Greg in Alfa Rhetta and Greg says, I'm being offered an early retirement package from my company that includes a severance package and a pension buyout. Is it wise to consider this mark? Well, Greg, if it's like a lot of these different early pot, buyout packages and severance packages, let me just say congratulations because in a lot of cases depend upon how many years of service that you have. It doesn't make sense to seriously consider this especially if you're in what we call the retirement Red Zone. Where retirement is right around the corner. I just had one of one of our listeners come in a couple weeks ago, and he you know, he's hoping that between now and the end the year that they offer him an early package because that he wants to retire at the end of the year, But he's hoping he gets a severance package. That would be like, you know, gravy. That would be like winning the lottery. If you know you're getting ready to retire and have a severance package. Come your way. I had another client I had for many, many years and he was able to retire early. In his fifties and you know, and he said to me, says, Marquis says, You know, I retired now because of our finances here. I'm able to afford to retire, and we've been. We've been managing his money for quite a while. And he says, you know, and when they offered the severance package, I went to my boss and I said, You know, don't save my job. If you know, he says, I want. I want to be considered for that. If you don't pick me, I understand, But don't look at my job and say, Oh, I don't. We can't lose him because I wouldn't mind taking it and this job made sure that he was one of the ones that was offered the severance package, so it depends upon what it says. But it's definitely something to consider. And what I love doing is taking those seventh programs and packages and considering what the best options are that are available. Now again, part of the reason why we can make those statements and say it does make sense to take it is because we've sat down with both of those clients I was telling you about, and we did our financial road map. We plugged in all of their expenses. I even patted the expenses. I added more money for travel. I added more money for health care costs, because sometimes when you retire early, you've got that gap before you get to Medicare. We gotta factor in how much health care cost is going to be, and I usually pad that number. I'm counting Wannabe and more expensive. I factoring inflation. We know we're not going to be saving anymore. So I got to see if that nest egg that we've accumulated is enough not only to get us through retirement, but get us through early retirement. We've also got a stress test the portfolios. We gotta make sure that the portfolios aren't sitting here with an astronomical amount of risk. The worst thing that could happen, Ron the worst thing that could happen to Greg or anybody in this situation is that right when you decide to pull the trigger and retire The market has a 2030% 40% hit out and it goes down the It's locking in losses that you may not get back because you're not making any more contributions to the portfolio. You're living off of the income. You're spending the money. So every time you cash a check with the market down, you've locked in a loss that you'd never get back. And when I can sit there and show you example, after example, after example of just taking the last crash, we had 2000 and eight and showing you that if you retired right before the crash hit And then you didn't do anything to manage your risk This look how fast the money goes. If you're drawling out at you know 2030 $40,000 a year to supplement your income. That's what we do when we plugged these numbers into our software into our system and people that are getting ready for retirement. I really feel like Rhonda. You appreciate how much time we put into preparing their plan and showing it to them in black and white. It doesn't cost him one red cent. We've been doing this for over a quarter of a century.
